Me and Harry have been together for almost five months now. We met through instagram, he followed me, liked my posts, then finally sent me a message. Since then we've been inseparable, texting every day and it feels like I practically live in his apartment since he doesn't want me to leave, saying “no… don’t go, just one more night?” Along with his best puppy dog eyes. I get along great with Harry's friends, especially Tobi since he was so welcoming. After meeting Faith at Tobi's birthday party we became quite close and have had many great conversations. I feel as though I can always go to her if I need someone to speak to or if I just need some advice.
Today Harry's talking me to Guernsey to meet his family for the first time. We woke up early and threw on a comfy outfit then headed to the airport. When we arrived we went through security and waited around for a little while before actually getting onto the plane. After just over an hour we were landing in Guernsey.
Tumblr media
y/username just posted a new story!
"Oh my god, this place is fucking beautiful." I stared out the plane window in awe of the island. Harry chuckled at my giddiness. I'm so excited to meet his family, unfortunately Rosie is at uni and Josh is on holiday so ill have to wait a little longer to meet them but ill get to see his parents. He's met mine multiple times but our schedules have never been clear enough to spend a weekend here, so when we got the chance we immediately booked the flights.
Once we'd collected our bags and were making our way out of the airport we spotted Harry's dad stood leaning against his car. I took a deep breath. "You have nothing to worry about. They're gonna love you." Harry whispered into my ear. I looked up at him "ok let's go."
"Hello, nice to finally meet you. I'm Harry's dad but you can call me Adrian." He spoke in a very cheery voice. My nerves instantly calmed. "Hi, I'm y/n." I introduced myself. "Yes I know. Harry don't stop talking about you." He chuckled. I looked over to Harry, his face was bright red and he'd gotten all embarrassed. "Does he now?" I teased him. Adrian laughed once again "well we better get going, Sue is desperate to meet you."
When we arrived outside of Harry's home my jaw dropped, it's practically a mansion. We hopped out of the car, Adrian and Harry grabbed our bags and I headed inside to introduce myself to his mum. Harry told me that the door was unlocked so I pressed down the handle and pushed it open. I was immediately bombarded by Herb, who seemed very excited to see me. I'd spent quite a lot of time with the dog since Harry had brought him with him back to London a few times.
"Hello! Come on in." Harry's mum Sue pulled me into a hug. I smiled "It's so nice to meet you." She walked me through into the kitchen "Are you hungry? I just made lunch." My eyes lit up "I'm starving and that smells amazing!" She smiled "great." Harry burst into the room seconds later and came to stand next to me. "You hungry Harry?" His mum asked. Harry nodded. "Alright, food will be ready in ten. Why don't you to go and get settled in." Harry gave me a quick toor of the house then showed me to his room. "See I told you they'd love you."
After lunch Harry wanted to take me on a walk to show me one of his favourite places on the island. So we put on our coats and shoes then he put a harness on Herb. "Come on let's go, Herbert!" Harry shouted and seconds later Herb came running towards us. I opened the door. "So where are we going?" I asked as we walked down the street. "My favourite beach." He replied.
"Wow, I can't believe you grew up somewhere like this." I admired the waves as Herb played in the sand. "I didn't appreciate it enough when I lived here, but now that I don't come here as often I realised how much I miss it," Harry said without breaking eye contact with the view. I placed my head on his shoulder and let out a breath. "I love you." "I love you too Haz."

"hey, what's got you up so early?" Eddie's manager Steph said leaning against the kitchen side as she drank her coffee. it was 8am and she was surprised to see him up this early. let alone up, dressed and ready to leave the house. he used to wake up every afternoon with a different groupie leading them to the front door where he promised to call them which he obviously never did.
but Steph hadn't been at his house, which he shared with Gareth, since Eddie went to your house to see Penny. she had absolutely no idea what he was doing for himself, for his daughter, for you. he hadn't even slept with anyone since he spoke to you.
"i've got to go see my daughter" it had been almost two months since Penny's party and he had been bettering himself for her. he would turn up practically every weekend to take her out and do something she'd like. sometimes he'd even come round on the wrong days just to spend time with her, it made Penny's face light up when he actually showed up when he said he would and it was beautiful to see.
"no, you can't go today we have that party later and we all want you there" Steph shouted as she watched him slip on his shoes and grab his keys off the side. he stopped and turned to her, Eddie was very easily influenced but he knew if he didn't turn up that his girl would be stopped from seeing him and he couldn't handle that.
"i'm sorry Steph but right now my kid is the only thing i care about, enjoy the party" with that he walked out the front door leaving her stunned. Eddie Munson never ever turned down a party.
the last time Eddie went to a party was the day of his daughters birthday, he knew it was horrible of him and he honestly hated himself for doing that but he had stopped partying, he had stopped drinking and doing drugs which had shocked everyone. his friends, his family, the press and he was proud of the person he was becoming.
after the situation which happened a week after Penny's birthday he went to Wayne and was shouted at by him for hours. Wayne was furious that he even have the audacity to show his face after what he had done to his daughter and after he told Eddie that he was ashamed of the person he had become, he changed up real fast.
he went home that night and listened to the voicemail Penny had left him 'daddy. are you coming to my party, i miss you' it had broke him. he listened to the voicemail over and over again which made him sob for hours. his girl wanted to see him and he failed, he failed her. after hearing her say that she missed him, he knew that he could become a better person and he did.
it had surprised you to see Eddie standing there a week later, dressed casually and he explained to you that he was trying his best and you appreciated that. yes it took a little bit of time before Penny opened up to him again but he was grateful that you had given him the chance to see her, to tell her how sorry he was.
he didn't want to be known as the dad that didn't care because he did. he was grateful that Corroded Coffin had gotten the recognition they deserved, but he wishes some days that they hadn't so none of this would have happened.
he wished that things would go back to how they were when you were all a family, you made time for each other, loved and cared for each other and he was highly at fault. he wasn't showing you or Penny love, care or affection and it was his fault your relationship broke down. that's one of his biggest regrets.
the knock on your front door pulled you out of your thoughts. it was early, 8:32am to be exact, and the only person that you knew was coming round was Eddie. but that wasn't meant to be until later, Penny wasn't even awake yet.
you opened the door and saw Eddie standing there with a small, anxious smile on his face. "i know it's early but i thought it would be nice if we all spent the day together. we could let Penny pick, only if you want to. if you're busy i can come back later when i was meant to-" you shook your head and smiled.
"i think that's a lovely idea" you moved to the side so he could come in. Eddie let you and Penny stay in the house when the two of you broke up, he had some sort of a brain and you were grateful you did stay there. it was filled with beautiful memories and you would hate it if you did have to leave.
"she's not awake yet but she should be soon, she's gonna be really happy to see you" you smiled, Penny couldn't really remember what it was like when Eddie was here but all she wanted was for Eddie to come home so you could be a family again. she wanted to see her dad every day, she wanted him to be here with you and her.
Eddie sat down on the sofa and you sat next to him, keeping a bit of distance. "look i need to talk to you, it’s easier to do it now because she’s not awake" this made your smile drop and anxiety fill your body, he took a deep breath, obviously thinking about how he was going to say whatever he was thinking.
"i'm really sorry for everything i've done these past couple of years. i've been an awful person and i've hurt you both and i'm really grateful you're giving me a second chance to be Penny's dad" he grabbed ahold of your hands and looked into your eyes.
it was like every time you looked into them you were mesmerised, his eyes were one of your favourite things about him and you were happy when you saw Penny had the exact same eyes he did.
"i'm sorry i left and i'm sorry for not being there for you, i'm sorry for not being there for Penny and i hope you know that i have changed and i am never leaving her again. i was honestly the biggest asshole and there is nothing i regret more than how i treated you both, especially you. you've done it all on your own and you've raised her so well. you are an incredible mum" you smiled again, grateful that he was taking accountability for his actions, you were also grateful for the small praise he had said.
getting told you were a good mum always put your mind at ease. there was always the thought of you not doing it correctly but parenting didn't come with a book. you had to figure it out on your own and to get reassurance just made you feel like you were doing it your best and apparently, according to Eddie, you were an incredible mum which you were and he meant every word.
"thank you for saying that ed's" Eddie's cheeks flushed at the nickname, he loved you. he really really loved you and his biggest regret was leaving you for the band. he wished he treated you differently, he wished he could go back in time and talk things out with you and listen to what you had to say, he wished he showed you both the love and affection you deserved but he didn't and he hated himself.
he was brought up by Wayne who had told him to respect women and when he left he knew he was wrong. but he was easily manipulated into doing things even if he didn't want to like the partying, the groupies, the drinking, the drugs and when you do them a few times you get hooked and he couldn't stop.
he done them to be well liked, he done them to fit in with a crowd of people he hated, and now he had finally stopped doing them he felt like himself again. he felt like a person and he could actually hold a conversation without itching for the alcohol or the drugs.
"she's really sweet y/n and thank you for giving me a second chance to be her dad. i can’t describe how much it means to me" you squeezed his hands as a sign or reassurance. the both of you turned to the look at the stairs when you heard Penny was finally awake and walking down them, rubbing her eyes as she tried to wake herself up.
"morning sweetheart" you said as she walked into the living room, she yawned and looked to see both you and Eddie sat next to each other. "daddy" she squealed, she was definitely awake now. she ran to him and jumped into his lap making you pull your hands away so the two of them could hug.
"what are you doing here" she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. you watched the two of them and your heart melted, it was adorable. "well i missed you so so so much i couldn't stay away. so me, you and mama are spending the whole day together and you get to decide what we do" Eddie ran his hand up and down her back as she cuddle into him.
"really?" her eyes widened and excitement filled her small body. her mum and dad would be spending time with her for the first time in forever, literally. it had been years since you and Eddie had spent a whole day with Penny and honestly you were excited.
she picked up her head from his chest and saw him nod. "what did you want to do then honey?" you asked, there were two obvious places she would pick. either the beach or the zoo, Penny loved the beach but she also loved the zoo so you were sure she would pick one of those.
"please can we go to the zoo? i want to see the giraffes" they were her favourite animals which Eddie actually didn't know. "well, why don't i help you get ready, that means mama can get ready and we will be out the door quicker?" Eddie looked at you and then back at Penny who was smiling widely.
"you still remember how to bath her?" you joked which Eddie only nodded. he remembered but it had been years since he had been this sort of environment. "i'll run her bath, you just have to wash her and wash her hair" with that you left Penny and Eddie downstairs to run her a bath.
"you excited baby?" he pushed her hair out of her face and kissed her cheek, he missed moments like this. she nodded, her dimples showing as she smiled. Eddie was excited to spend the day with the both of you, he hoped that you could act like a family again.
-
"mama, daddy look there's a baby giraffe there" she squealed, Eddie was holding Penny who was pointing to the baby giraffe who had just come outside from the enclosure was with its mum, she was filled with excitement. "yeah honey, it's a baby giraffe. isn't it cute" you stood next to her and stroked her cheek.
"it's so cute" she said, her eyes never leaving the two animals. "what makes them your favourite animal angel?" Eddie turned his attention to look at Penny who was practically mesmerised with the giraffes.
"they are just so cute daddy. oh and mama told me they are friendly" as Eddie listened to Penny talk he realised how much he had actually missed, when he left you Penny could only say a few sentences and most of the time he would be speaking to himself but now he could hold an actual conversation with her.
"that's right. they are friendly" he had absolutely no idea if they were friendly or not but if it made Penny happy knowing they were friendly he'd go along with it. "do you want to go see any other animals Penny? or do you want to stay here for a bit longer" the three of you had been staring at the giraffes for at least thirty minutes.
"can we stay here just for a bit? i just want to look at the baby for a little longer" you looked at Eddie who nodded "yeah we can. but only for a little bit though, we have other animals to see remember" he tickled her tummy making her laugh loudly and fall back into him.
the three of you stood watching the small giraffe run around the huge open field for a few more minutes before you and Eddie heard someone speak to him. "i'm sorry to interrupt you man but my son is the biggest fan of Corroded Coffin, would you mind if he got a picture with you? i know you're with your family but this would mean the world to him"
the two of you turned around as the man spoke and you smiled at his son who looked like he was holding himself back from running to hug Eddie.  he looked no older than 7 with his dad stood next to him and looked mesmerised by Eddie actually being in his presence.
the father held a grey polaroid camera "of course, you don't mind do you?" Eddie turned to let you hold Penny whilst he took a photo. "not at all" you held Penny who was still looking at the giraffes running around the field whilst Eddie knelt down next to the small boy.
"what's your name bud?" you heard him say as he hugged the young fan. "Ozzy" he seemed shy but watching the interaction was adorable. "woah sick name. i assume you're named after Ozzy Osbourne who is my personal favourite"
you turned back to look at the open field and kissed Penny on the cheek, you could hear Eddie talking to Ozzy and his dad. Ozzy and his dad were thanking Eddie for taking the time out of his day to even acknowledge them, let alone have a conversation and take a few photos with them.
"thank you again Eddie, you're amazing" with a quick hug from Ozzy and a handshake from his dad the two of them left to allow Eddie to get back to the two of you.
"he was adorable" you said as Eddie stood next to you. he nodded agreeing, opening his arms so he could take Penny back "yeah he was" he held Penny in his arms and kissed her forehead a few times. she didn't even feel the affection because she was still infatuated with the giraffes.
-
after a long day at the zoo you and Eddie decided it would be best if you went back to yours for dinner which had happened to be one of the best dinners any of you had. it was just the three of you being together, spending time with each other as you ate and talked about anything that came up.
it was nearing Penny's bedtime, spending the whole day with Eddie had made you realise your feelings for him hadn’t gone away. before he left he was an amazing dad, even if he was tired from work he would make the effort to look after Penny whilst you were able to do a few things for yourself and now that he had finally realised what he’d been missing out on he was becoming that amazing dad again.
you hated when you would see the newspapers where Eddie and a random groupie would be on the front cover, white powder on his nose with his already pale skin looking even paler. he just didn’t look like your Eddie and at that point he wasn’t anymore and it broke your heart.
you missed when the two of you would put Penny to bed and would watch her sleep in comfortable silence, she always looked so peaceful when she slept and it was crazy to the two of you that you both created such a beautiful baby, she was utterly perfect.
the three of you were sat on the sofa, Penny asleep whilst laying on top of Eddie who had cuddled her since the minute the three of you got home. “it’s getting late, you want to help me get her ready for bed?” you looked down at Penny who was snoring softly.
he nodded and stood up carefully making sure his grip was tight so she wouldn’t fall. the two of you walked up the stairs, you behind Eddie looking at the sleepy girls drooling on his shoulder.
once the two of you were in her bedroom you picked out her pyjamas and got her dressed, careful to not wake her up out of the peaceful slumber she was in. once she was dressed you laid her down in her bed and pulled the covers over her, tucking her in and with a quick kiss on her forehead you moved out the way so Eddie could say goodnight to her.
this was the first time in three years Eddie had been here to tuck her in and say goodnight. he knelt down to look at her, her curls where all over her face so he gently pushed them back and kissed her cheek, she sighed peacefully and that felt like your queue to leave her to rest.
Eddie didn’t want to leave though, he wanted to stay with the two of you and never leave again but he knew it didn’t work like that. the two of you went downstairs and a comfortable silence filled the space. “so, i guess this is my time to leave” he joked, scratching the back of his back awkwardly.
“you can stay for a bit if you want. maybe it would be good for us to talk?” he looked at you to make sure you were 100% sure and that he was actually hearing you correctly. “i- uhh, are you sure? i can leave if you want” you laughed and shook your head.
“i think it would be good for us to talk” you turned to walk to the living room and sat down on the sofa, knees brought to your chest. you could hear his sock covered feet following you and he sat next to you quickly after.
“we haven’t really had a conversation and i think it’s good for me to tell you now” you were still madly in love with Eddie and spending the little time you had together had made you realise it, you were with him for five years before you broke up and your feelings don’t just vanish into thin air.
he was confused at first, what was there to talk about? “i know you left me and i understand why you did, it was hard for me to get it at first but i do understand. but i do want you to realise that just because you left doesn’t mean my feelings for you just went away” he looked at you feeling guilty about the past.
“i’m not gonna sit here and say what you did was okay because it wasn’t. you hurt me a lot and you hurt your daughter. you had time to go and sleep with whoever you wanted and do whatever you wanted and i had to be strong and look after Penny all by myself. it was hard to see you not make an effort for her and what made it even worse was every time i did see you it hurt me so much because you didn’t even look like yourself” you felt your chin quiver as tears filled your eyes and his eyes glossed over with tears of his own as he listened to you talk.
“i always wanted to help you, i always tried to reach out to help you but i couldn’t get through to you and it hurt me to see you doing the stuff you did and i would see your face everywhere and i was trying to i guess grieve our relationship and i couldn’t. i didn’t want that to be the end of us Eddie because my feelings for you never went away. they never left my body and that’s why it hurt”
you both had a few tears rolling down your cheeks “i need you to know that i do love you, i love you so much Eddie and i can’t help how i feel. i would dream about how we used to be and i missed it, i missed you and if you don’t love me that’s okay i’ll live, but please don’t leave Penny again just because i told you this. she needs you” you sniffled and looked down at your knees, cheeks blushing as you wiped your tears.
“you have no idea how long i’ve been waiting to hear you say that” you looked up at Eddie how’s eyes were bloodshot, tears rolling down his cheeks which a huge smile on his lips, his dimples showing. he moved closer to you and wrapped his arms around your shoulders, bringing you into him.
after three years of yearning for his love, his affection you finally felt his lips on yours. the kiss was filled with passion, filled with every ounce of love you had for each other.
“i love you so much” he said between a few small kisses you two shared. “i love you too” you spoke softly into the practically silent house. “i’m never leaving either of you ever again, i promise” he kissed you one more time, the two of you smiled into the kiss, it was like nothing had changed when you kissed each other.
in the space of a two months Eddie had changed for the better. he’d long forgotten the drugs, the alcohol, the groupies. god the words made him feel sick. he changed for you, changed for Penny and now the two of you could continue your life and expand your beautiful family.

Two's Company - a Walter Marshall oneshot:
It had been another long, lonely evening. For the past two months, Walter had been working until late at night, trying to crack a particularly difficult case. Apart from their hurried breakfasts, she'd seen very little of him. Even on the weekends, he was holed up in his office, the back wall looking like a conspiracy theorist's dream. She hadn't complained, she knew better than to put that kind of stress on him. This was just his job and if she struggled to cope with it at times, then that was on her. She was the one who'd agreed to be in a relationship with him. Not that that made it any easier. She started having doubts, wondering if this was what their married life would also be like. Would he even be around to watch his kids grow up or be there to attend birthday parties and recitals? She tried to push those thoughts away, like every other thought she'd been burying lately. As far as he was concerned, she was her usual happy, bouncy self and she was determined to keep up the facade. She didn't need him worrying about her as well as a serial killer currently at large in Michigan.
She pulled the throw around her tighter to try and mimic a hug, she'd felt so touched starved lately. She didn't even want to think about the state of their sex life. But she had to try and be grateful, in every other regard he was a wonderful boyfriend. He respected her and treated her with nothing but love and kindness. How she wished he had a different job though. He'd been injured twice in the last six months and she dreaded the police chief showing up on their doorstep one day, cap in hand. What she needed was a distraction, but everything she'd tried up to that point just hadn't worked. There was no real replacement for the company of the man she loved most. She supposed sooner or later they'd have to talk about it. But what could either of them really do? She sighed, realising he probably wasn't going to be home anytime soon and it would be better if she went to bed. Suddenly her mobile rang, the noise almost making her jump out of her skin. "H-hello? Is that you Walter? What is it, what's wrong?" She could hear him chuckle lightly on the other end.
"Nothing babe! I just wanted to check in, make sure you're okay. I'm surprised you're still awake. Why don't you get to bed, I won't be home for another couple of hours." She bit back her sigh though she didn't know what to say. "Babe? Is everything alright? Look I'm really sorry about this, you know how I hate being away from you. This won't go on much longer, I promise. We're really close to finding the bastard." She’d heard Walter say the same thing before. There was always going to be another case, another criminal that separated him from her and put his safety at risk. When she still hadn't said anything, Walter became worried. "Babe, what's wrong… are you upset with me?" His voice was so concerned she felt tears well up in her eyes. She cleared her throat and adopted her usual sunny tone.
"No, I'm fine… just don't overwork yourself and drive back safe. I'll see you tomorrow morning." She went to hang up, with him only just stopping her in time.
"Wait, I want to hear about your day… what have you been doing? Are you remembering to take your insulin?" She'd been diagnosed with diabetes a couple of months back, which had worried Walter no end. He'd come back a couple of times to find her having a hypo.
"Yes darling, I'm fine. Don't worry about me, just focus on your case." He hesitated for a few moments, not knowing whether to push her any further. He'd caught the look of sadness on her face a couple of times when she thought he wasn't looking. Of course, she'd smile and put on her usual happy act, but he knew deep down she was hurting. She missed him terribly on the long nights he spent away.
"Okay babe, well listen… I need to get back. Get to bed for me okay? Lock all the doors and windows too, I'll get home as soon as I can. Goodnight darling, I love you so much." She gulped back the lump in her throat.
"I love you too sweetheart, take care and I'll see you soon…" She hung up, never feeling more lost and alone than at that moment.
The next day.
She felt exhausted the next morning and struggled to get out of bed. But when she could smell coffee wafting into the bedroom, she assumed Walter was already awake and preparing for his next shift. She couldn't remember him even coming home. She quickly pulled on her dressing gown and headed downstairs. The house felt slightly chilly and she realised she should have put something on her feet. "Morning darling, are you alright? You look a little tired." But her eyes were roving around the kitchen, mentally trying to locate all the stuff she needed to make him a proper breakfast. "Haha don't worry about it love, I just had some toast. Come sit down and I'll get you something, I want to see you take your insulin as well." She felt irritated suddenly and he caught her rolling her eyes as she refilled the kettle. "Hey, what's that look? I'm allowed to be worried you know. Look, I know I haven't been around much lately. I'm going to try and do better. I've put in an application to be transferred to another division, the hours are better and the job's somewhat safer. I didn't want to tell you as it's not a sure thing just yet." She didn't respond, still absentmindedly casting around for tea bags and milk. He was growing concerned. "Did you hear me, love? I thought you'd be happy darling." She spun round to face him, plastering on her usual fake smile.
"No, I am… that's great sweetheart. I'm really pleased, let's hope you get it." She smiled wider before going back to preparing breakfast. She knew fine well his boss would never let him leave his current department, he was far too good a detective.
"Listen, are you alright? You seem a bit down, you know you can tell me anything?" She hesitated for a moment as she stirred their cups of tea, knowing Walter always enjoyed this after guzzling down his coffee. She handed him a cup with another strained grin on her face.
"Don't be silly, I know you're busy and I completely understand. Please don't worry about me, you just focus on your case. Are you making any headway?" He knew she was just trying to change the subject but if she wasn't prepared to talk about it, there was no point in pushing her.
"Yeah, we figure another couple of weeks and we'll have bagged him. You know I was thinking maybe this weekend we can head up to the lake, the cabin looks beautiful surrounded by all the snow. What do you think?" She smiled again, ever the calm, placatory girlfriend.
"That sounds great, anyway you better get going, otherwise you'll get caught in traffic." Walter sunk back half the tea, though how he managed to drink something that hot she'd never know.
"I will, I will… but first I want to see you take your insulin and have something to eat." She exhaled somewhat impatiently, worried he was going to be late for his shift. So she kissed him on the cheek and handed him his lunch.
"I'm a big girl, don't worry about me, now get going or you'll be late." Walter sighed as she guided him towards the front door, anxious about her being left on her own all day. As she worked 9 to 5 from home, she didn't even get to go out much or see anyone. He turned to face her and cupped her face in his hands.
"Listen to me, you can call me anytime for any reason… even if you just miss me okay?" She smiled blankly and kissed him a final time.
"I know, please stop worrying, I'm fine." Walter stared into her eyes, knowing that was far from the case, and on his way to the station he desperately wracked his brain for a solution. If he couldn't be around her more often, he'd need to find some other way of keeping her company. Luckily halfway through his shift, he got an idea. It would take some time to arrange, but he was sure he was on the right track.
A month later.
He sped through the empty roads, it was way past rush hour but at least he was going to be home earlier than usual. The case had rumbled on as they both secretly expected, and he knew his girl was starting to crack under the strain. But when he looked at the gift he'd found for her resting on the back seat, he smiled from ear to ear. He just knew she was going to love it. He turned off his headlights as he pulled into the driveway, wanting to surprise her. He pulled the gift behind his back and snuck up to the front door. When he tiptoed into the living room, he could see her still standing in the kitchen, scraping away yet another uneaten dinner into the bin. She was crying softly and his heart shattered. Is this how she'd been every night? He felt his gift wrigging in his arms and he had no choice but to step into the kitchen. "Hi, love… I'm back early. My boss let me go for the evening. Are you alright? What's wrong?" His booming voice almost made her drop the plate she was so shocked. She hurriedly wiped her tears away, embarrassed that he'd caught her so upset.
"Oh, hi darling… yes I'm fine. Just a little overtired. What have you got there?" She'd seen Walter squirming slightly and wondered what on earth was going on. He then grinned, pulling from behind his back a small, very cute German Shepherd puppy. She was so shocked as he walked towards her holding the bundle of ears and fluff, her mouth just hung open.
"This here, my love, is Kal. It turns out he's a bit too nice to be a police dog, so he's been retrained to detect glucose levels instead. He's going to help keep you safe when I'm not here and give you all the cuddles I can't when I'm away. What do you think?" She had tears in her eyes, not quite knowing what to say. He then carefully placed Kal into her waiting arms and watched as he made a beeline for her face, licking away her tears as his tail wagged fiercely. For the first time in a long while, she laughed.
"He's just about the cutest puppy I've ever seen! Are you sure we can keep him?" Walter placed his arms around them both, rubbing her back as he did so.
"Of course! Well, do you like him?" She laughed again and kissed him before placing even more kisses on Kal's nose. "I take that as a yes, then?" They both laughed and he felt as though a weight had been lifted. He knew she'd always miss him and wish he was around more, but at least Kal would look after her as well as provide some much needed emotional support. "I have some more good news, my transfer's also been approved." She couldn't help but let out a squeal, which caused Kal to tilt his head in confusion.
"Oh, darling that's wonderful! Are you sure, though? I don't want you changing departments just to keep me happy?" Her biggest fear was that Walter would eventually resent her for how much he had to fit his life around her and her needs. But he just shook his head and smiled.
"Nah, I want this just as much as you. I've been in the same role for the last twenty years and I'm getting too old for it. I also want to make the most of our time together. I can't do that if I hardly ever see you, it's not fair to either of us." She looked down at Kal, still unsure that he was making the right decision. But he lifted her chin and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. "Darling, this is the right decision I promise. Unless you're happy with Kal? In which case, I suppose I can just go ahead and move out…" She swatted him on the arm as they laughed again. The sparkle in her eyes had returned and that, to him, was priceless.

asks for you: something you are looking forward to but haven't told anyone about? last song listened to? last thing you bookmarked? newest graphic tshirt you got yourself? last person you called just to chat? last mattfoggy prompt you gave yourself but haven't done anything with, yet? what do you want to see happen most in DD:BA?
something you are looking forward to but haven't told anyone about?
My friends are coming over this weekend for my husband's birthday party. My husband is a gamer TM and one of his favorite games is "Factorio" which is a game about being stranded on an alien planet and having to build a bunch of stuff to get your spaceship off the ground so you can go home. (I keep joking that it's big kid pikmin.) There's a lot of machinery and factories and conveyor belts, so we factored that into the party. In addition to thematically appropriate board games, we got this oval shaped lazy susan thing that is sort of like a manual conveyor belt you spin with your hand, and it looks a bit like a factory belt too. We're going to set out ingredients so people can make their own custom snacks (miso soup, salad, onigiri, mini sushi cakes, etc) and finish it off with s'mores over this little s'more maker that coincidentally looks like the forge in the game. People know the theme of the party in general terms, but I don't think any of them have played this game themselves, and nobody knows about the "build your own" aspect of the menu, so I'm excited to see their reactions.
last song listened to?
Piplup Step (Piplup Cheer You Up)
last thing you bookmarked?
Hahaha, I'm so bad at bookmarks. There's a shortbread recipe I have open that I need to come back to.
newest graphic tshirt you got yourself?
In December I got a shirt from Vapor95 that is black with these teal jellyfish on it. But like, in a vapor/chillwave kind of way, not a "I'm into aquariums" way. XD Not that there's anything wrong with aquariums lol.
last person you called just to chat?
Returned a call to my friend Tiffany and caught up about our holidays and upcoming events.
last mattfoggy prompt you gave yourself but haven't done anything with, yet?
Okay, this is SO dumb but I found a jokey meme post on tumblr last night that was about being ten and waiting for the day wings sprung out from your spine and THEN everyone would SEE. And I just imagined Foggy and Matt in college and Foggy relating all these "one day people will see how special I am" childhood fantasies he has with Matt (who is trying SO HARD for people not to see how special he is). Anyways, we'll see if anything comes of it.
what do you want to see happen most in DD:BA?
You know, I don't spend that much time hemming and hawwing over it, I'm very "whatever will be will be" and believe that no matter what happens in the new show, it can't take away my good memories of the original one. I mean, broadly, I would want to see all of the characters treated with respect not just in their individual characterization, but their importance to the series overall. IYKYK. I know we won't hear about it since they're not in place anymore, but damn would I have loved to see Matt and his thoughts on the Sokovia accords (since they were a thing in the NMCU! They played a big part in Jeessica Jones!!!) I'd also like to know more about how Fisk went from being in superjail to a viable candidate for mayor, like, I assume it had something to do with the instability of the blip but STILL? I can understand him being out of prison (who was going to run prisons during the blip) but the man was going to do LIFE and somehow he was out and about during the blip with the same level of influence over the police as before? HOW. Just, give me a flashback, give me SOMETHING. If we're going to see him try to be mayor I need to know what his "I'm totally reformed" pitch is gonna be.

Wildchild [11]
Hi , lovelies 🍅
here is the new release. It's a bridging chapter with no particular warnings before a distinctly smut part which I have isolated in chapter 12, which will come out in September as Daiki's birthday is coming up and I can't avoid celebrating it. 🥣
I hope this August has been kind to you all! 🍉
love always, V.
💮Wildchild Masterlist 💮
💣PS: I apologize in advance for any grammatical and/or spelling mistakes, English is not my first language (bear with me!).
➿Genre: long story, contains angst, fluff and smut parts.

The ball bouncing on the parquet.
Once, twice, three times.
The fresh morning air, two friends who involve you in their date because they already know what happened and want to see with their own eyes how you are.
A group of people you never met before, but who greet you with lively curiosity.
Her sweet smile, despite the fact that you have brought her nothing but disappointment.
"Did you sleep?" she asks, handing you a can of iced coffee, before opening her own.
'Yes, despite no longer being used to Tokyo's sweltering heat. I wonder where they find the will to run and play,' you smile at her, following with your gaze some of the boys from Kuroko's team who are about to start an informal training session.
"It's the same as preparing for a concert. Only practice makes perfect ” the girl replies to you, noticing your worried expression.
"Maybe I should go home " you sigh, returning the smile of one of Tetsu's friends.
“I haven't been able to play a note since I've been here. After last night then, I don't even feel like seeing a piano anymore” you conclude, placing the can next to you on the bench.
Satsuki nods, but you don't know what she really knows.
'Seijuro is at Kurima Island with his girlfriend because she felt like sunbathing. Too bad he promised to spend the same weekend with me. You see, he only deigned to warn me last night after dinner, just in time for Daiki to have another good reason to despise me " you briefly explain to her.
"I know that last part " she informs you, searching her boyfriend with her eyes and giving him a nod.
"I figured he'd run to you, he does that all the time" you note, finishing your drink.
"He spoke to Tetsu at the party, not to me. I can't help him, I don't accept the attitude he has towards you. What he said to you and how he said it is unacceptable! On what you grant Akashi I prefer not to express myself, you already know how I feel " she sighs.
" That I'm chasing after an engaged guy " you chant, bringing a hand to the back of your head to gather your hair.
"It does disqualify you" she tells you seriously, staring at you with genuine concern.
"What precisely would disqualify me? Talk? Help him mend a relationship with his father? Receive an occasional hug? Because that's what we're talking about " you retort, only then noticing the light blue-eyed boy's presence.
"It's not criticism, Satsuki is telling you that you're just wasting your time" he tells you as he sits down next to you, so charming in his white uniform, but just as strict in his analysis "Akashi and Aomine are both unfit, you need someone who will work hard for you, who sees you as a goal, a target, not a takeover. Akashi makes you delude yourself that you will have the perfect relationship with him, because he appeals to your fantasies, like a mirror that sends you back an absolute image, the one you created yourself. It's perfect but unreal. Aomine-kun on the other hand, does not try enough cause he's misled. Your relationship is so influenced by your addiction that that is all that matters. He panics when he does not know where you are: he no longer sees anything, he no longer understands anything when he realises that you are no longer there for him only ; and the same goes for you " he sums up, looking suspiciously at your chuckle.
"Tetsu, if that was the case I should have kicked him back to Yuriko or all the girls he's banged since I went to Kyoto " you inform him, finishing your drink.
'The situation is the same, actually. You can hide it, he can't, that's the difference. You are the same. You don't want things with Akashi to unravel because you know it would mean losing Aomine, but underneath you know the only one you actually crave is him, and that  triggers this stubborn hatred that I don't understand. You're a smart girl, why are you wasting all this time?" he asks you serenely, reaching for his shoes to tie them tighter.
"Because I want to be proved wrong , for once" you sigh, "Because no matter how right you might be, he's never going to be someone who's longing for it, not for me at least. And that kills me, because at least for him I wanted to be something. Last night I felt like I was talking to a stranger, and I can't sustain that tension for someone who in two years hasn't even found time to give me a call. Satsuki, forgive me, I cannot keep the promise I made to you ' you conclude, smiling at her.
As you walk home, you think back to Testu's words.
As much as your friend has framed the situation perfectly, there is one thing he missed, and that is the central fact of your determination to sever ties with Daiki.
He can turn you around . He can make you become a person you hate.
That's why you must stop now: you will no longer wait for him, you will no longer go back to him, you will no longer know anything about him, as he asked you to.
Perhaps you will sacrifice something, but you will gain peace of mind.
You look at the fence that borders the kindergarten, you run your fingers over the thin panels and you hear them sounding, an off-key, irregular melody, like a chorus of children singing the same song, but each in his own way.
You smile, because it is something that still makes you happy.
You recoil, fetch a couple of Natsume's sweets from the kitchen and return to your bedroom, treating yourself to a second breakfast before changing. You slip into a thin linen dress, open the windows and tell yourself that you have to start again with what you know and move one step at a time from there.
You look at the instrument that occupies most of the wall opposite your bed, you sit down on the bench, lift the keyboard cover, place your bare feet on the pedals and your body moves on its own, finally free of thoughts and worries.
There are no emails from Sei, no messages from Satsuki for the fair, no inquisitive eyes from Kuroko or Imayoshi. He barely even exists.
This makes you calm.
This you will have to cling on to.
Your private concert ends 3 hours later, when the hunger pangs announce the start of the afternoon. You hear on the street the laughter of the children on their way to the nearby swimming pool, you stop and look out of the window, seeing baby yourself and Momoi in that little group, only a few years before. You had grown up without a pool nearby, but that mattered little because he always had a new place to show you, or an irresistible activity to propose. Most of your adventures ended with scratches, wet clothes and some horrible insect that he would punctually catch and give to his mother as a pledge of eternal love. She would say thank you, put the cage in a corner of the garden, and send you off one by one to bathe, waiting  for her husband to arrive to release the “creature”.
Natsume.
She was the first person you had met once discharged from hospital, one cold but bright winter day. She signed the cast hanging from your neck, she made an armrest out of one of her colourful scarves so that 'it would at least look nice'. She thanked you for coming straight away to reassure her son, who had been in a bad mood for days.
At that time there were no schedules for phone calls or messages. There were only a series of greetings, always unheeded by the desire to continue feeling close, no matter if you were constantly being picked up by the nurses.
At that time, time was never enough.
You move away from the window and sit on the bed and rest your head on the pillow.
You close your eyes and you are back on the threshold of his room. He is dressed in blue, sitting on the bed, his back at the door, strangely reading a real magazine, shifting his gaze from the pages to the phone, which remains silent, because you are there, a few feet away. You feel the adrenalin rising quickly, and you know you cannot wait any longer. You want to see him smile right away, you want to kiss and hug him straight away, so you look for something pointless and silly to say.
"I'll tell Mai-chan you're cheating on her " you exclaim, causing him to turn immediately, finding yourself unable to move a step from emotion, happy when you see that he too is surprised and excited by your presence.
"You're here!" is all he says to you, before leaning down to cup the back of your neck with one hand and kiss you, leaving an unusual space between you.
"Come near, I'm fine" you smile at him between kisses.
"I'm so sorry" he replies, bringing a hand under your cast, smiling when he sees his mother's name on the brace.
"It's fine, look, good as new!" showing him the five fingers move.
"Will there be any consequences?" he asks you seriously, his eyes on your fingers as if trying to figure out if what you are telling him is true.
"Almost nothing, a little stiffness, but nothing that a good exercise won't put right, doctor's word! " you bring back, understanding the importance that information has for him.
"Does it hurt?" he asks again.
"Little, painkillers help. How are you?" you reply, playing with the edge of his jumper.
"Good" he tells you, as his long hand descends from your waist to your bottom.
"Good" you repeat, rising on your tiptoes to give him even more access, but you stop because a noise catches your attention.
"It's mum" his voice tells you, letting go with a kiss on your temple.
He sits in the middle of the bed, you sit at one corner, in between the basketball magazine opens on an article you pretend to discuss, just before his mother enters the room and announces she's leaving to go to the hairdresser.
"You sure you don't want to come with me?" she asks, probably already knowing the answer.

June 8th, 2022 @ 13:16 hours
There is an experience of mine that pops up in my head at moments where I don't think I'm strong enough to deal with the memory.
My freshman year of high school, for Christmas break, my sister and I flew from our home, Cincinnati, to Santa Cruz. Our dad's family is in Ohio and Kentucky, and our Mom's family is mostly in California, along with various members scattered all around the world.
Our Aunt lives in Santa Cruz, where both my Aunt and Uncle went to college at UCSC. Our uncle at the time was living in Singapore, he spent half a decade living in Singapore. Our grandmother lives in Chico, California. A small town mostly know for its party school, Chico State.
I think I can speak for my sister and myself when I say our grandmother, Aunt, and Uncle have always been important figures in our lives. It was hard growing up 2,000 miles away from them, but that made our time together so much more memorable. It was even harder when my uncle moved out of the country. As much love as I have in my heart for the rest of my mother's family... my Uncle was not only a special uncle, he was a special person, and the best role model any little kid could have.
When I was in college, I spent a weekend with my grandmother and she asked me, "when you think about being successful, what does that look like?" I told her it looked like my Uncle. Not only did he have a great job that he worked his ass off for, but he had the courage to live life to its very fullest, and he had the heart to remain humble and family driven through it all. He was a godly man, but also listened to Warren G on our drives to In-N-Out. He instilled so much knowledge and wisdom in me, and left me with memories that have shaped me and continue to shape me into the person I am and strive to be. I thrive to have a heart as big and generous as his.
So, as you can imagine, that Christmas break when my uncle came home from Singapore, and my sister and I came out from Ohio, was a very special Christmas. We drove hours to Chico and all stayed at my grandmother's house. We had a great holiday together and even got to celebrate my Uncle's birthday.
Our last night in California, my Uncle was flying back to Singapore and my sister and I were going back home to Ohio. We all had early morning flights out of San Francisco, so we booked a hotel in the bay area and spent that night seeing the city. Our uncle treated us to a sushi dinner, I've never been a fan of uncooked fish, but loved it when my uncle would order for me and let me taste test all of his recommendations, and my sister has been a sushi lover for years so she was always willing to try it before me. He also treated us to the most delicious ice cream, and we ended our night with a midnight showing of a superhero movie. I wanted to see I, Tonya that night but was out voted with no hesitation. We could've been watching a documentary on trees and I still would've loved it though. (And two or three weeks after that we had a snow day at school, so I tricked my mom into taking me to watch I, Tonya. She thought the movie was ridiculous but I enjoyed spending the day with her so everything really does work out in the end.) At about 2am we got to our hotel and my uncle and sister got maybe 2 or 3 hours of sleep while I spent the night snapchatting my best friend about how much I didn't want our vacation to end.
We made it to SFO and it all started to kick in, the realization that I only have a few more moments with my uncle before he leaves and I didn't know when the next time I would see him was going to be. We made it through TSA and he waited with us for our plane to start boarding before he headed to his gate. I let my sister walk in front of me so when I looked back there would be nothing blocking my view of my uncle, and as I walked towards the plane, my eyes were glued on my uncle and trying their very best to hold back tears. I had a smile on my face because I wanted that to be how he would remember us, happy. As I walked to my seat I was sobbing. It's a very bitter sweet memory.
To love someone so much, and to fly thousands of miles away from them, not knowing when you will get to see them again. It is one of the most heart breaking pains I've ever experienced yet I have so many similar experiences.
I've done the same thing with my father and grandpa, the other two most important men in my life. Having to walk away from them and get on a plane not knowing when I would see them next. I've even had to say goodbye like that to my baby cousin. When I met him for the first time at 6 months old, and spent the most magical two weeks with that little boy, then having to get on a plane and fly back home. Spending every last moment with my eyes glued on his little face. He didn't even know how much I loved him, or how much it hurt having to fly hundreds of miles away from him.
You really don't know how much you truly love someone until you have to leave them.
To my uncle, who is no longer with us... I love you and will always remember you in your happiest moments. The time I got to spend with you was more significant than anyone could imagine, I will always be grateful for those moments.
To my Pa, two-thousand miles away, you will always be my home. You will always have half of my heart with you in that little country home in the middle of the big city. There is no amount or combination of words that does justice of describing how much love I have for you. I wish I never had to say goodbye to you, but I hope you know you gave me the courage and confidence to explore everything this world has to offer. You lit a fire inside of me to always chase happiness, from one corner of the world to the other.
To my Mom and Dad, who have been the blueprint of my personality, heart, and character... there will be so many goodbyes, and they will always hurt, But no matter what the destination is of my plane, everything you have taught me and done for me and sacrificed for me will follow. Take pride in knowing you have made me a strong, knowledgeable, and hopefully independent young woman. Dad, always keep your phone on, just incase I need to learn something new. Mom, always keep your phone on, just incase I need a shoulder to cry on.
To my baby cousin, who has given me a whole new look on life, who has been a bright shining light in a world that has been seemingly so dark for so long, I'm so glad I get to watch you grow, and I thank god every day he has blessed your mom like he has. She has been so good to me my whole life, you brought hope and love to our whole family. I hope you grow up knowing I will always be there for you, even if one day I have to get back on that plane and say goodbye to you again, even if I'm on the other side of the world, I will always be right there with you kiddo. Just as your mother has been there for me. I can't wait to tell you these stories of our Uncle so you know just who is watching down on you from Heaven, I will pass his love onto you, I may never do it justice, but he will guide the both of us.

After longing for Sebastian for so long, he finally makes the first move at a surprise party in his honour.
Ever since the first day you had walked into that Red Bull office you had been the centre of attention, a young beautiful woman with a smile on her lips and confidence on her hips, everbody adored you, lusted after you, longed for you and you knew that. However there was only one man in the entire factory that you felt that way about, and that man was Sebastian Vettel, but he didn't feel the same way about you. His eyes never lingered like those of your colleagues, his head never turned when you walked past him and he hadn't once tried to make a pass at you. Is this what made you like him so much? You always had loved the chase. You had never told Seb about your feelings, you hadn't tried to hide them either, but you were certain that he could tell.
"Yo Y/N!" You heard Mark, Sebastians team mate, call from behind you, you turned to talk to him, "We're throwing a surprise party for Sebastians Birthday tonight tell me you're coming"
"Hmm how charming, a last minute invite" you chuckled to him. "No it's not like that, its a last minute decision" Mark stammered, a blush rising to his cheeks. "I'm kidding" you smiled placing a hand on his bicep, "of course I'll be there" You walked away from Mark, feeling his eyes burning into your back as he watched you walk away. Why couldn't Sebastian look at you like that?
--------
Later that night your taxi pulled up outside the venue and you headed inside you were greeted by stares and gulps from your coworkers, this was the first time they had seen you out of your mechanic overalls or jeans on race weekends. You had on a deep blue dress that fell just below your butt, a plunging neckline that showed off your cleavage just the right amount and the fabric hugged your curves tightly, so tightly that even the tiniest of thongs would have shown through, so you opted not to wear one tonight. You strutted up to the bar and ordered yourself a drink, "I've got this one" one of your colleagues said paying for your drink. You smiled at him before finding a comfortable stool to sit at the end of the bar. "They're here!" You heard shushed voices flood through the room, everyone sat waiting patiently listening to Seb and Mark's voices get louder as they approached the room, Sebastian pushed open the door, "SURPRISE!" everyone yelled making him jump, "for me? You shouldn't have" Seb grinned coming into the room. You couldn't help but stare, taking in every single inch of him, he stood tall in figure hugging black trousers and a white shirt, unbuttoned a little showing off top of his chest, clinging to his muscles, his blonde hair tousled perfectly on top of his head. "Hey Y/N, glad you could make it" Marks voice broke you out of your trance. You nodded at him, taking a sip of your drink, eyes still locked on Sebastian, "why don't you just shoot your shot Y/N?" Mark questioned, following your gaze to confirm his suspicions.
"Not going to happen, I never make the first move" you scoffed. Mark just rolled his eyes, grabbed his drink and went to socialise with the other party goers. You intermittently watched as Sebastian mingled with his friends, spending the rest of your time scrolling through your phone. "Vodka Soda?" You heard his thick accent call out from beside you. You glanced up from your phone to see Sebastian pointing at your drink, you nodded and took the last sip sliding your glass down the bar, "2 vodka sodas" he said to the barman before turning back to you, "May I say, you look amazing tonight, it's so different seeing you out of the garage" he said trailing his eyes down your body, giving you the lingering look you had always hoped for, a gentle blush coming onto your face, "What can I say? I did my best for you" you smirked at him. Seb shifted awkwardly on his feet as the bartender passed over your drinks. "Well I very much appreciate it" he said resting his hand on your exposed thigh, you glanced around the room quickly, "Don't worry about them, everybody is far to drunk to know what's happening around them" Seb chuckled looking around the room. He nudged your legs apart with his and slid his body between your knees. You gasped slightly, you had pained for Sebastian to make a move for so long and now that it seemed that he was you didn't know how to react, "Sebastian," you muttered.
"Don't play games with me Y/N" he said sternly leaning into your ear, "you think I don't notice your stares, your flirting?" His warm breath stinging against your skin
"I didn't think you we're interested" you stuttered. "Well stop thinking" he said, he planted his lips on yours roughly. At first his kiss took you by surprise but you quickly leaned into it, kissing him back as you bit at his bottom lip. Sebastians hand trailed up your thigh and under your dress, his muscular frame blocking everything from the view of any potential onlookers. He nestled his face in your neck, kissing and sucking at the delicate skin, his hand ran further up your leg and over your bare pussy. "Are you not wearing underwear right now?" Seb chuckled into your neck. "Erm no.." you blushed "come with me right now" he said standing up from you taking your hand, you followed Seb out of the main function room and down a hallway, he glanced around before pulling you into a small storage cupboard. "You're a bad girl you know that?" He said pinning you against the door and kissing you hard, he slipped his tongue straight into your mouth and explored your tongue with his. His hands ran up your body and landed at your chest, he pulled the material down exposing your breasts, the harsh cold air making your nipples stand on end. Sebastian kissed down your neck, cupping your breasts with his hands and massaging them gently, tweaking your nipples between his finger. You could take it no longer, your core ached to feel more, you discreetly ran a hand up your skirt and began to circle your clit with your fingers. You moaned as Sebastian left love bites on your skin. Suddenly as he realised what you were doing his hand grabbed hold of your wrist, "Do you think about me when you touch yourself?" He moaned at you, you nodded your head in honesty as he replaced your fingers with his own. "Speak to me schatz" he said halting his movements. "Yes Sebastian" you moaned out, grinding your hips against his hand desperately trying to feel more. "good girl" he growled at you before sinking to his knees. "Spread your legs for me" he demanded as he pushed your skirt up around your waist. You did as you were told, Sebastian nuzzled his face between your thighs, his tongue licking a big wet stripe through your folds, you moaned loudly your hands coming to rest at the back of his head. He slipped two long fingers inside of you, his tongue swirling and sucking at your clit. You could feel the knot in your stomach tightening, "oh Seb" you moaned out, your legs feeling weak, if it wasn't for the pressure of Sebastian strong frame holding you up you would have been an absolute mess on the floor by now, "just let go Liebling" he mumbled against your skin, the vibrations of his words mixing with the thrust of his fingers to send you spiralling into an orgasm. Seb lapped up all your wetness before rising back to his feet, you went to reach for his belt before he swatted your hands away. "Ah ah ah, no you don't" he smirked as you pouted at him, desperate to make him feel as good as he'd just made you feel, "tonight, this was about you" he said kissing you gently, "next time it can be about me"
"So there's going to be a next time?" You said smugly wrapping your arms around his waist.
"Of course there will be a next time schatz, in fact let me take you on a date first, does tomorrow at 6pm work for you"
"Of course" you nodded, kissing him again. "Now come on people will be wondering where the Birthday boy has gotten to" you said smoothing out your dress and hair before leading Seb back into the party. Nobody seemed to have noticed your absence. "I could have guessed I'd find you two together" Mark said smugly, noticing you both back at the bar. "Enjoying your birthday?" He said raising an eyebrow at Sebastian. "Oh shut up Webber" Seb chuckled rolling his eyes, "You're only jealous" he laughed ordering the 3 of you a drink at the bar, leaving Mark stood there jaw opened wide, as Sebastian threw his arm around your waist and pulled you into his side.

Summary: Tyson is the best roommate you could ask for, you can’t imagine ever living with someone else… no- no not like that, your relationship is purely platonic! (Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) < A/N: This is most likely the last part.. I'm never writing a series again omg I'm terrible at updating them I'm soorrryyyy Warnings: alcohol consumption, swearing, a mild insinuation of smut at the end! Reader pronouns: she/her Words: 3,4K Tagging: @nugnthopkns @softboybarzal @alekmanoah @kerwritesthings @idontgiveaflyinggrayson69 @brandtsclarke @notaccurateornice @tysojost @justjosty @stlbluesbrat21 @sophiealiice @leafs-foreverr
For once in your life, you were grateful for Tyson’s busy schedule. You’d only seen him a handful of times since you found out his secret - equaling a handful of awkward moments. You’d kept the interactions short, making plans with your friends to keep yourself out of the house after work. You told yourself you weren’t avoiding him, it was only temporary until you found a way to voice your thoughts to him. You knew you had to face him at some point, and you feared it was coming quicker than you wanted it to.
You’d both been invited to Caroline’s birthday party this weekend, on Saturday. Your excitement was clouded by your nervousness - you would have to share a ride with Tyson. You wanted nothing more than to spend the night by his side as well, but there was no way you could have the talk with him before then, but there was also no way you could go a whole night without saying anything.
It was a recipe for disaster.
To top it all off Caroline always threw themed birthday parties. This year's theme was teenage memories, meaning childish games that you’d once been looking forward to. But throwing “truth or dare”, “spin the bottle” or “seven minutes in heaven” into the mess of your life right now was the last thing you wanted. You’d begged Caroline to keep the games to a minimum, but your situation only made her want to do them more. “The sooner you tell him, the better” she’d said
You’d gone over what you wanted to say to him a thousand times in your head, but none of them seemed right - none of them did justice to what you were feeling. And there was also the fact that you couldn’t predict his reaction. No matter how many times you went over the scenario in your head, you wouldn’t even come close to the real deal. His eyes, his mouth, his words were bound to throw you off, make you stumble over your words. The irrational part of your brain even tried to make you doubt if you’d heard him right when he unknowingly confessed his feelings to you.
--
You’re in the kitchen doing some dishes when Tyson comes home from practice. Your heart speeds up like it has done every time you’ve seen him this week.
“Hey, you’re home” Tyson cheers, sneaking up behind you to hug you as you scrub the bottom of a frying pan. You want nothing more but to relax against him, maybe even turn around and hug him properly, but your stupid brain’s working overtime to keep you from saying something stupid. The sound of his breath is clouded by your rapid heartbeat.
“Yeah- hi,” you hope you’ve played it off cool, that he didn’t think you felt tense. If he did, he doesn’t say anything about that.
“I feel like I haven’t seen you this week”
“Been super busy,” you laugh awkwardly, avoiding his eye by focusing on the pan as if it would explode if you took your eyes off it. The truth was that you were afraid of the words that might explode out of your mouth if you looked at him.
“We gotta talk” although he doesn’t sound serious, his words cause an instinctive reaction, your head turns to look at him before you can stop yourself.
“Oh?” you tried and failed to not sound nervous.
“Yeah, about Caroline’s birthday,” he says like it’s obvious.
From his point of view, you’re staring blankly at him, but if he could read your mind you’d be fucked. His hair was still damp making his curls look extra inviting, you hadn’t had your hands in his hair for so long and all you wanted was to reach out. You imagined running your hands through to play with the hair at the back of his neck, and you can’t help but lick your lips as you imagine them pressed against his.
“What time do we have to be there tomorrow?” he elaborates, thinking that must be why you were staring at him the way you were.
You shake yourself out of your daydream - needing a moment to think, as if your brain was rebooting, before replying. “Uuuh- the invitation says 7, but we could be there earlier- or later, like whichever you prefer”
“Cool, is there a strict dress code or nah?”
“Eh, you can dress up if you want to - I think Caroline is going all out, she found some old clothes from high school that still fit her at her parent’s house”
Tyson cringes with a laugh but is quick to add, “Love that, what are we wearing?” he wiggles his eyebrows, suggesting that the two of you match. The thought of that alone makes your head spin - wearing matching outfits was such a couples thing. How the hell were you meant to keep your head on straight trying to plan that. Luckily, his face lights up before you can open your mouth - “we should do double denim, y’know, like Britney and Justin”
Your eyes go wide, surprised he’d come up with that good of an idea so quickly as if he’d thought about it already.
Suddenly his phone rings, “shit I gotta answer this- but we’ll do double denim, yeah?”
He lets the phone ring as he waits for you to answer, “y-yeah” you clear your throat “sounds good” you nod at him. He smiles wide, and what happens next goes so quickly you're not even completely sure it happened. He leaves a short kiss on your cheek as he walks past you before he answers his phone, and then heads to his room.
You’d managed to hold your tongue so far, but you have a feeling that come Saturday night you might not be so strong. You can’t pinpoint if you’re excited, nervous, terrified, or all of the above.
--
You could hear Tyson coming home from the gym as you were getting ready. You hadn’t yet put on your outfit, but your hair and makeup was almost done. You’d been waiting around for the party all day so you decided to just start, even though you had plenty of time. He calls out your name, “In here” you call out to him, not bothering to leave your spot by the mirror in your bedroom. A moment later he knocks at your door, waiting for you to say he can come in before he peeks his head in. “I’m gonna shower real and get ready real quick and then- oh wow, you look pretty” he blurts out when he takes you in.
Your cheeks warm up and you couldn’t hide your face even if you wanted to. “Thank you” you manage to get out. He runs his eyes over your face and you wait for him to finish what he was saying before, but nothing comes out. His cheeks are a little red, his face shining with sweat, and his breath a little heavy but you doubt it’s from the workout he just did. When you bite your lip he shakes himself out of his thoughts - “sorry, where was I?” he sounds a little embarrassed.
“You’re getting a shower and then-” you trail off
“Yeah! and then we can leave whenever you want to”
“Ok” your voice is still small, overwhelmed by his compliment and the way he’s looking at you. He lingers in your doorway a little longer before he pulls himself away, disappearing down the hall.
The way he looked at you stays the same as he opens the main door for you after he got a message from the driver waiting for you downstairs. You wanted to punch him for pulling off the head to toe denim look as well as he did. You also wanted to kiss him to wipe that look off of his face, but you doubt it would help - but it didn’t stop you from wanting to try. Which, of course, you don’t.
You had to give yourself some credit, your confession had been at the tip of your tongue for the past few days, but you’d managed to keep it to yourself this long.
You just hoped your driver was either chatty or had his radio playing to distract you. You were lucky the drive isn’t so long, but Tyson’s not making it easy for you, making every second feel like a minute. Opening the car door for you, offering you his hand as you step into the car. His helping hand is by no means necessary, but you don’t hesitate to grab it before sitting down. His eyes constantly find you from his side of the car, he’s not even trying to be subtle. Knowing what you now know has made you look back at memories, wondering if his eyes had been trying to tell you something.
You can’t keep your eyes off of him either, and you’re trying your best to keep your mouth shut - counting down the minutes until your arrival, just hoping that Tyson doesn’t find the silence as heavy as you do.
--
The party’s crowded by the time you get there - which you’re thankful for. It'd be easy for you to “get lost” and disappear from Tyson to avoid the inevitable just a little longer. But you had to be subtle about it, there was no way he’d let you walk off if something seemed weird to him. You decide on a white lie - “I’m gonna go to the bathroom, I’ll find you later, ok?” you smile nervously at him. The lie is simple enough, and it’s far from the reason for your nervousness. You can see the night ahead of you, ducking away from him, turning as soon as you see him, guilt-ridden.
You don’t want that.
You want to spend the night with his arm around your shoulder, sharing hushed words with him that no one else can hear. Having everyone around you disappear as you look into each other's eyes. At the end of the night, his hand would squeeze yours before he asked if you should go home, where you’d end up in his bed - your lips attached.
You feel like splashing water in your face as you look into the bathroom mirror, your white lie has turned into truth as your daydream overwhelmed you. The images in your head left you longing for something more, something you knew you could have. You hate that you feel so anxious - why couldn’t you just tell him? Why did your mind always have to overcomplicate things? Closing your eyes, you count to ten as you breathe deeply in an attempt to calm down before walking over to the door. You sigh loudly as you unlock the door, hovering your hand over the handle, bracing yourself for the night before you finally open it.
As you cautiously enter the kitchen you’re lucky to find your friends making themselves drinks. “You’re here!” Caroline shouts excitedly. You give her a hug, congratulating her before hugging Rachel as well.
“You’re right on time for the first game” Rachel winks at you, unable to stop herself from smirking when she sees the dread on your face. “C’mon, you know he feels the same, so what’s the worst that could happen?” she reads your mind, handing you a drink.
“Wish I could rig a game of spin the bottle so you two would finally kiss,” Caroline says, a little too loud for your liking - you don’t spot Tyson or any of his friends anywhere though. Caroline grabs a bottle for said game, motioning for you to follow her into the living room where she loudly announces the first game of the night. Not everyone joins, but you catch Tysons eyes, and when he sees you join the circle that’s forming he walks over to join as well.
Caroline places the bottle in the middle of the circle that has formed and waits for everybody to sit down. “I don’t have to explain the rules to anyone do I?” she doesn’t wait even a second before following up with a “no? good”, putting the bottle in a spin straight after. You don’t even pay attention to what happens next as you realize you’re already up next. You should’ve sat down somewhere else, should’ve made up an excuse so you didn’t have to play this game.
On the other side of the circle, Tyson is watching you, feeling stupid that he thought he might have a stroke of luck. He knew you were next, and that the chance of the bottle stopping pointed at him was little. But it was better than nothing he tried telling himself until he remembered that he’d probably end up having to watch you kiss someone else.
It’s not until Caroline bumps your shoulder that you snap out of it, a tight knot in your chest as you look over at Tyson briefly. You grab the bottle, and it seems like the world is moving in slow-motion as you start to spin it. You sit back down, eyes trained on the spinning. One part of you is begging for it to land on Tyson, the other part is screaming for it to stop at anyone else.
The bottle slows
It’s about to stop
You can’t look
With your eyes closed, you hear the bottle stop.
Caroline gasps.
You know who the bottle is pointing at before you open your eyes, and you find him easily. You’re stuck in your spot and Tyson can’t believe his luck, his eyes glistening with hope. He waits for you to make a move, but the weight of the situation you’ve put yourself in is holding you down. You don’t know how long you’ve been stuck but a cheer erupts in the room forcing you to finally move. The person next to him moves so you have enough room to sit next to him. Your hands shake as you make your way over, your eyes are glued to his trying to read him. His mouth is open slightly, chest moving as he breathes - looking at you. “Hi,” is all you can think to say, your voice laced with how nervous you are - he’s the only one that could hear it. A small smile spreads across his lips, “Hi” he sighs out in relief, also leaving his words for only you to hear. He notices your hands, how they can’t stay still. He takes a hold of them, looking into your eyes. “Hey, we’ve got th-”
“Kiss already!” a loud slurred voice interrupts him, breaking the bubble you’d made for yourself. Tyson realizes something then, you can see it in his eyes and you wish you could read his mind.
“No,” he says.
Next thing you know he’s standing up, dragging you up with him. He weaves you through the crowd, his steps are determined. His voice echoes through your mind - “no”. Had he realized he didn’t have feelings for you, that he couldn’t go through with kissing you?
“What do you mean, no?” is the first thing that stumbles out of your mouth when he finally pulls you into an empty room. He’s speechless, he’d acted without thinking, pulled you away from the crowd without a plan - leaving him standing still, staring at you, hoping an answer will magically appear.
For a split second, you’d felt ready to kiss him, only for it to be torn away from you - now you really wouldn’t be able to hold back. All your rehearsed admissions fly right out the window, leaving you to speak before thinking. “Would kissing me really be so bad?”
“Yes- fuck, I mean no”
“What?”
“No, but not like that” he points at the door
“What does that mean?”
“I mean I don’t want the first time we kiss to be because you felt like you had to because of some stupid game, with some drunk asshole yelling in the background and- I just-”
“So kiss me now then”
“What?”
“Kiss me”
“Really?
“Tyson!”
His name has barely left your lips as he grabs your arm, pulling you to him. His lips crash into yours, fitting together like old lovers reuniting after a long time apart. Your hands are everywhere, desperate to feel all of each other, to stay close. Every doubt you’ve had slips away as his lips leave yours only to find them again, softer this time, his arms wrap around your middle as your arms find their way over his shoulders. He lifts you, one arm slides down to lift your leg up to his waist and you follow his lead, wrapping your legs around him. His lips leave yours again as he starts to walk, this time longer, making you open your eyes to find him looking behind you. He sets you down on a dresser, grabbing your neck, before he can make another move your lips chase his, needing to feel them again. No kiss has ever made you feel this way, like you’re right where you’re meant to be. This is it for you, this moment is all you need to know that Tyson is your person.
When you finally break apart to catch your breath, your vision is clouded by your realization - looking at Tyson in a new light. You’d been so blind, he’d been right in front of you this whole time. You’d been wasting time, anxiety getting in the way, keeping you away from being with him the way you were meant to.
Tyson’s trying to wrap his mind around what just happened, squeezing your arm to check if this is real and not just a dream. He’d woken up to a harsh reality far too many times at this point that he’s begging for the moment to not slip away. You’re both catching your breaths, biting your lip as the silence between you fills the room.
“We should uh-” he starts, “-talk” you finish the sentence with him nodding.
“I overheard you and JT talking about me-” you sheepishly admit after another few silent seconds.
“What? When?” he blushes, insinuating that he’d talked about you with JT several times.
“A little while ago, but as I was saying, I overheard you and kind of freaked out, trying to find the right words, the right time.”
“The right time for what?” his eyes are hopeful as his hands absentmindedly caress your hips.
“To tell you how I feel about you”
“How do you feel about me?” he bites his lip, searching your eyes.
“Tyson, I love you”
He lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, hand squeezing you again, just to make sure he’s not imagining you.
“I love you” he smiles, wider than you’ve ever seen him before, “like so much”
“Yeah?” you bite your lip, feeling warm all over. He nods, leaning in again to leave the softest kiss on your lips - “yeah”
You stay like that, for a while, reveling in your newly admitted feelings, getting familiar with each other's lips - hands exploring bodies, exchanging I love you’s over and over.
Your bubble bursts as someone suddenly opens the door, slurring a quick apology, mumbling something about a bathroom before he closes the door before leaving further down the hallway.
“We should get back out there” he laughs.
“Or we could lock the door” you joke, but it’s only half a joke.
He laughs but sees right through you, and although he’s tempted himself he knows this isn’t the time or place- “not here, there’s plenty of time for that later”
You help each other straighten out your clothes and fix your hair quickly, neither of you able to resist giving the other a few more kisses before you have to face your friends again.
As you leave the room hand in hand, neither of the few people you pass bat an eye until you get back to the living room where your friends are gathered.
“Pop the fucking champagne, holy shit” Rachel exclaims.
“Fucking finally!” Caroline cheers.
They hug the both of you individually, and you make eye contact over their shoulder, neither of you particularly enjoying the attention you’ve attracted, but unable to help the smiles on your faces.
“Honestly thought you two would be home by now” Caroline wiggles her eyebrows, her voice low.
“What? It’s your birthday, we can’t leave this early”
“Like I care, go get him, have fun, tell us aaall about it after” she pushes you against Tyson again, nudging her head towards the door.
“Wanna go home?” you almost feel shy as you ask him, but he wraps his arm around you kissing your temple.
“Yeah, let’s go home”

Holiday Special: The Twelve Months of Transformation
[Part 7 of 12]
Tumblr media
July
As Nick went well into July, He couldn't recognize the man he used to be anymore. It was more than the half way point of the year. He lost his friend because it was weird for an old man to be hanging out with a bunch of 30's, going to clubs, hiking, etc. His body couldn't even keep up anymore, like he was able to just a few months ago.
His friend now consisted of his boss, and the other older guys at the business club, and the baker from down the street. He already started looking older and fatter than his boss, at this point. His boss stopped treating him like a young man a long time ago. Instead his boss viewed him, as a slightly older man than himself. He started to look up to Nick as a role model.
As, head of sales and distribution , Nick started to find joy in his work. He was good at it. Making sure these were delivered on time gave him a sense of accomplishment. Something he could finally control. His new office was filled with people that never knew hunky 35 year old Nick. Instead all his staff knew him as a portly mid 50s to early 60s man. They treated him with respect, by always calling him Mr. Winters. And, he was a good boss. He tried to make the work environment fun. Alway, leaving gifts for people's birthdays and having weekly staff bonding games and parties.
Nick gave up on trying to stay fit. He tried to stay on a diet, but it wasn't working out. The first couple of days he felt sick. He had no energy, was grumpy, and his stomach constantly screamed for food. As, he began to eat more he became more energetic and jolly.
It felt good finally allowing himself to binge on food. He spent years trying to stay fit. But. It didn't matter, anymore. Because no matter what he did, now, he was going to end up fat. It was like all the weight was lifted off his shoulders and land on his belly.
----------------------------------------------
In the last week of July, Nick took the 6 hour drive to visit his mom for her birthday. The fear and anger about his situation slowly began melting a way. Because, there was nothing he could do at this point.
It was becoming a tighter fit, in his car, even with the car seat pushed all the way back. Even his 3 day travel bag was strained carrying his bigger clothes and snacks. Nick body constantly felt hungry and if he went to long with out eating he would feel tired and cranky. Another bag of snacks sat on the front seat. It was filled with cookies, chips, beef jerky, candy. He had multiple liters of Coca Cola on the floor of the passenger seat.
He finally made it to his mother's house and knocked door. His mom was thrown off guard as she saw this big older man, at the door.
"Hi Mom!" He says going to give his mom a hug. His belly squeezed against her.
It took a moment to realize what was happening, but his mother replied, "Nick is that you?"
Nick was a bit surprised his mom wasn't freaking out, but he just laughed. His belly jiggling in the process. "Yeah, I wasn't lying I'm an old fat man, now." Nick patted his belly.
Over the weekend, the two spent time together. They went to the store and out to eat. Nick found every excuse to buy his mom something. He enjoyed making her happy and spending time with family. He even decided to not ask her about his father, because what was the point. There was nothing that could be done anyways.
On the other side, Nick's mom worried for her son. She knew the truth. Sadness filled her eyes, everytime she stared at him. The night before he left he heard her crying in her room.
Nick's heart broke and walked in carring a cup of Hot Cocoa to cheer her up. "Mom what is it? Are you sad because of my transformation... because you don't have to be. I'm okay with it, honestly." Nick tried comforting her.
She wiped the tears from her eyes, "Damn your just like your father... Nick, I have to tell you something about your father." Nick's heart raced, he wasn't expecting this conversation but, he just nodded.
"Your father is... Santa Clause. And, based on your transformation it means he's dead."
Nick dropped the Hot Cocoa, the mug shattering on the floor. His mind raced, as his mom informed him of all the missing details.
After another day at his mom's home, Nick drove home his head still spinning trying to grasp the weight of what she said and what this all meant.

Secrets
Warnings: language, angst, groping
Summary: After mysteriously disappearing for weeks, Jake has a serious secret to confess to you.

Tumblr media
Dear Y/N,
Sorry I had to leave. There’s something I have to take care of. I’ll call you later. Feel free to stay as long as you like. Make yourself at home.
P.S. You’re gonna have to explain to me what happened last night because I can’t remember anything.
-Jake.
I awoke to an empty house and a note from Jake. I would undoubtedly need to speak with him later. There was something strange about last night's situation. I wouldn't have thought anything about it if Jake hadn't appeared uneasy on Wednesday. Last night, his mood swings and heavy intoxication led me to believe that something was going on with him that I wasn't seeing.
Despite Jake's assurance that I could stay as long as I wanted, I didn’t want to spend my day in an empty house. Especially when his siblings or parents could come home at any time. I folded his blanket and placed it on the recliner. I adjusted a few of the pillows that had become uneven and began to drive home.
I waited for Jake to call me that night for hours. I even stayed up late in hopes of receiving a call from him. Nothing. I attempted to contact him, but there was no answer. I assumed he was probably busy, so I went to bed. Nothing the next day. No call, no answer. The next day, and the day after that, were the same. Until it was finally Monday once more.
“What happened on Thursday Y/N?”
“What do you mean?”
I came to a halt in front of my locker, flipping through the numbers to form my combination.
“I was texting you all night and you weren’t answering. You always answer your texts.”
When I opened my locker, a few scraps of paper fell out. I knelt down to pick them up off the floor.
“Sorry. I was at a birthday party for some old middle school friend. I was out pretty late.”
I stood up again, shoving everything that had fallen back into my locker. I took my math book and slid it under my arm as I tried to reorganize everything.
“You must have been out really late. I was texting you until one in the morning.”
I shut the door and clicked the lock shut.
“Yeah. We were out super late and when I got home I was exhausted. Sorry. I didn’t think to check my phone.”
I responded to Kathryn's texts two days after she sent them. That was a lot longer than it usually took me to respond to texts. To be honest, I was worried about Jake. He said he'd call me, but he never did. Not only that, but when I called him, he didn't answer. The entire situation was strange. At least I could talk to him during the first period.
“That’s alright. See you at lunch.”
Before parting ways, we both waved goodbye to each other.
I planned on seeing Jake, telling him I needed to talk to him, and meeting him after school. I walked to my class and sat in a seat next to an empty desk. I kept a close eye on the door, waiting for him to walk through it, his black boots stomping aggressively on the ground. The bell rang, and he still wasn’t there.
Jake didn't show up to class that day. I didn't even notice him at school. He was also absent the following day, and the day after that, and the day after that. He was gone for the entire week. Every night, I tried to call him, hoping to receive an answer. He never picked up the phone.
I drove to his house that weekend. Except for him, every member of his family was present. They tried to reassure me by explaining that Jake would frequently leave the house for a few days and would always return.
I would have believed them if Jake hadn't revealed his insane desire to leave. I'm sure something happened last night that caused him to snap. He's gone, and I'll never see him again. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves. He wasn't gone. He’d come back.
He did come back, a week later. It was a Friday, and I was about to leave school when I caught sight of Jake out of the corner of my eye. He was standing next to his car, seemingly looking for someone. It took everything I had not to run up to him and give him a big hug. I kept my cool and approached him slowly. Only when I reached him did I unleash my anger.
“Jake! Where the fuck were you!? You left me a note saying you’d call me then you fucking left!”
Jake raised his hand silently to indicate that he wished to speak.
“I know. I know. I’m really sorry. I just…”
He paused, nervously licking his lips and shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
“Things got complicated. More complicated than I was anticipating.”
My rage was starting to fade. It had now been replaced by genuine concern. More than anything, I wanted to know what was going on.
“Jake. What exactly got so complicated that you had to leave for two weeks?”
“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
He sounded so unconcerned. As if we were talking about the weather. I burst out laughing at his remark. My initial rage had returned.
“Nothing?! Jake, you were gone for two fucking weeks! I was so worried I went to your house and asked where you were! I haven’t slept in over a week! And now you’re telling me you left because of nothing?!”
Jake snapped, he grabbed my shoulders and stared intensely into my eyes.
“I said don’t worry about it!”
He raised his voice, drawing the attention of those around us. I tensed and recoiled under his firm grip. He immediately recognized the terror in my eyes. His gaze softened almost immediately. Jake shifted his gaze from side to side, noticing the stares and relaxed. He dropped his hands to his side, sighing.
“Sorry. But you really shouldn’t worry about me.”
I clenched my teeth, unsure of how to react.
“Jake. I’ll be your friend but you can’t just leave for two weeks and then act like it’s no big deal.”
Jake leaned back against his car, his arms crossed across his chest.
“You need to leave. I’m here to pick up my girlfriend. She’ll be out any minute now.”
He leaned over my shoulder, observing everyone leave the building. I was tired of him and this conversation.
“Will you call me later?”
“Sure.”
Jake was barely paying attention. I doubt he'd call me back, but I said okay and left him alone. I wasn’t in the mood to argue with him anymore.
I'm not sure what happened to him. He was a really nice guy a few weeks ago. Whatever happened in those two weeks had a significant impact on him. He wasn't the confident, charming man he used to be. He was now stiff and cold. I wish I could go back in time and tell him not to go. I wished for the return of the old Jake.
Later that night, I called him. Once, twice, three times. I didn't expect him to respond, but I had a feeling he would pick up this time. When I dialed his number, the phone rang. I pressed it to my ear and waited. The phone nearly rang five times and I was about to hang up. Then, at the last possible moment, he picked up.
“Hello?”
I let out a sigh of relief.
“Hey Jake… you said you were gonna call me-”
“Yeah. I was. We need to talk.”
My heart skipped a beat. The way he said those words suggested he had something dire to confess.
“Okay.”
“I don’t mean on the phone. I mean like… in person.”
“Right now?”
“Yeah. I need to say it now.”
I inhaled a shaky breath.
“Alright.”
“I’ll come pick you up.”
“Okay. See ya soon.”
“See ya.”
I paced around my room. I needed to let off some steam. My hands were trembling, and I was perspiring profusely. I walked back and forth, back and forth, waiting for Jake. I couldn't imagine what on earth he'd need to confess. My thoughts were racing at a million miles per hour. Every time I breathed, it was ragged and forced. After sweating through the first shirt, I changed. I tried to divert my attention. I made my bed, looked in the mirror, brushed my teeth, washed my face, and paced around my room a little more.
I heard a car pull up my driveway. The sound of an engine began to inch closer. Once I was certain it was Jake’s car, I perked up and ran down the stairs at full speed, almost tripping on the carpet. I came to a halt a few feet from the door and started walking casually. So Jake wouldn't see me nearly kill myself because I was running so fast.
I walked out to his car, staring at my feet, suddenly nervous rather than anxious. I climbed into his car and sat in the passenger seat. I tucked my shirt into my shorts and buckled my seatbelt.
“Where are we going?”
“By the cliff. We need to go somewhere private for this. Somewhere there’s no risk of someone eavesdropping.”
I didn't think we needed to go all the way out into the woods to talk, but I agreed. I honestly didn't care as long as Jake finally told me what he'd been keeping hidden from me. We drove in silence. Jake’s eyes were glued on the road. He didn’t want to acknowledge me until he absolutely had to.
The smooth city streets eventually deteriorated into bumpy gravel. The tall buildings that surrounded us morphed into large trees. As we traveled deep into the woods to the location where I nearly had my first kiss, I could feel the air becoming cleaner.
We parked, and I climbed out without waiting for Jake to come around to the other side and assist me. The walk through the woods was deafeningly quiet. The only sounds were the rustling of the trees, the crunching of the ground beneath our feet, and the chirping of the crickets.
The trees began to thin, and I noticed a clearing ahead of us. We both continued walking until we were almost at the cliff's edge. The scene was just as lovely tonight as it had been weeks before. Except now there was a heaviness in the air that wasn't there before. I stood directly in front of Jake, igniting intense eye contact.
“What’s going on Jake? I want an honest answer. I’m tired of all this beating around the bush.”
Jake stood in front of me, staring at me intently. I could tell his thoughts were racing. He was trying to think of the right words to say. He didn't want to screw up this opportunity. I waited in silence, expecting his response at any moment. He clenched his jaw, the trees rustled, I blinked. We were both nervous, tense, and waiting. Suddenly, he relaxed. I was surprised, though I didn't show it on my face.
“Did we… do anything that one night you slept over?”
I was tempted to tell him about how he felt me up in just his boxers, but I shook my head instead.
“No. We didn’t.”
Jake nodded his head, biting his bottom lip. I cocked an eyebrow in his direction.
“Is that all you wanted to ask me? I thought you were about to confess something serious.”
Jake took a large step forward, locking his gaze on mine.
“Well. There was one thing I needed to get off my chest.”
He was frighteningly close to me. I could feel his breath on my cheek. His long hair was hanging around his face, outlining his features in the soft glow of the moon. He looked ethereal.
“What is it?”
I could feel it hanging in the air in the few moments before it happened. The way he looked at me and traced the outline of my lips with his mouth. The way he stood with our chests almost flush together.
He swooped his head down, connecting our lips. I flinched at first, but soon found myself wrapping my arms around his neck and pulled him in closer.
“Jake. What are you gonna do about your girlfriend?”
I murmured against his lips in between kisses.
“Fuck her.”
Jake traced his fingers up my leg and under my shirt. Just like he had done previously. Only now, he was stone cold sober. I raked my hands through his hair as he slipped his tongue into my mouth without warning. I could feel the calluses on his fingertips moving up my stomach until they eventually reached my bra.
He kneaded my breasts in his hands, causing a low moan to escape from the back of my throat the moment his hands made contact.
“You like that?”
He whispered with a raspy tone against my lips. His hands became more aggressive, eliciting a whine from my throat.
“Yeah… Keep going.”
I moved my hands to the front of him, running my hands along his bare chest under the unbuttoned portion of his shirt. Jake removed his hands from my breasts and began tracing shapes onto my skin and moving down towards the waistband of my jean shorts. He trailed his fingers along the waistband before swiftly unbuttoning the top button and pulling down the zipper. I was too distracted by his soft lips and amazing kissing ability to notice him dipping his hand into my shorts. He started gently rubbing my clit through my panties. I gasped and pulled back, only just realising how far he intended to go.
“Are you okay?”
He quickly removed his hand from my shorts, looking concerned.
Looking concerned, he quickly removed his hand from my shorts.
I shook my head vigorously, becoming flustered and feeling blood rush to my cheeks. I turned
around and fixed my shorts.
“No. No, I'm totally fine.”
I turned around to face him again. His face became soft and concerned all of a sudden. A significant shift from just a few moments ago.
“It’s just that I’m a…”
Fuck. I was two seconds away from telling this guy I was a virgin who’s first kiss was two minutes ago. I probably looked like a moron, with my mouth open and searching for a lie to tell him rather than confessing the truth. Jake was staring at me, an eyebrow cocked and a confused expression painted on his face.
“I’m-”
“A virgin.”
Jake snatched the words from my mouth. I fiddled with my jean shorts' cuff, shifting my weight from one leg to the other. I noticed his expression shift from confusion to shock. He was staring straight ahead with a blank look in his eyes.
“Is that… off putting?”
Jake awoke from his trance and shook his head.
“No! No, sorry. I guess I’m just… surprised.”
I scoffed, furrowing my brow.
“Surprised?”
Jake nodded.
“Yeah. I mean, you’re gorgeous. Any guy would be lucky to have you.”
My heart began to warm. It was difficult to believe the guy at school who was known for being a ladies man was now telling me I was beautiful. Jake paused for a moment before continuing to speak.
“Why haven’t you gone all the way?... If you don’t mind me asking.”
I shrugged.
“I don’t really fit in.”
Jake's face was amused, as I could tell.
“I know what you’re thinking. Ugh, that’s such a cliche. Believe me, I know.”
I motioned to myself.
“Whenever I explain it to anyone I always just get called “attention thirsty.” Like I’m doing it on purpose or something.”
In annoyance, I rolled my eyes and scoffed.
“I just wanna be like everyone else sometimes.”
Jake shook his head and crossed his arms over his chest.
“Why? So you can fit it in highschool of all places? I say fuck it. Who wants to be like everyone else?”
Jake wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into him.
“I’d be myself all the time if I were you. You’re unlike anyone I’ve ever met, Y/N.”
That was almost exactly what Jake had said to me on the top of the parking garage. Except now I realized he was speaking from the emotions he was experiencing in his own heart. It wasn't the weed who was speaking. Jake pressed his lips against mine, kissing me briefly before pulling away.
I knew he was correct. I'm not going to change who I am, so why not just be myself? Another cliche line from a movie or a book that has been repeated thousands of times. But it was true.
“I don’t mean to sound like a buzzkill. But seriously… What are we gonna do about your girlfriend?”
Jake smirked slyly. He was plotting something in his complex mind.
“Can you keep a secret?”
I scoffed and widened my eyes, my tongue tracing over my top teeth.
“Are you suggesting we just…. Don’t tell her?”
“That’s exactly what I’m suggesting.”
I didn't want to keep anything from anyone, but the idea of a secret relationship sounded intriguing. I imagined us giving each other an inconspicuous dirty look in math class, knowing it was our little secret. Plus, he was too enticing to resist. I needed him to be mine no matter what it cost. I could lie to a few people if it meant having Jake.
“Alright.”
I smiled at him, already anticipating the next stage of our relationship.
Jake hugged me even tighter, his head nestled in the crook of my neck. He placed his lips against my ear.
“You make me so happy Y/N. You have no idea.”
He drew back, his eyes sweetly fixed on mine. This was the first time in weeks that I saw kindness in his eyes.
“Even if you are a little bit of a cliche.”
I pushed him away and jokingly smacked him on the shoulder.
“Ugh! You are unbelievable.”
Jake chuckled.
“Should we start making our way back?”
I nodded.
“Yes. I think we should.”
The drive home was brimming with happy energy. We had moved on from our miscommunication and were now in a secret relationship. This night couldn't possibly get any better. I rolled down his windows, allowing the cool summer breeze to enter. Jake turned on the radio, and everything returned to normalcy. Only now, we entered a new phase in our relationship. This was a phase I was really looking forward to. I'll admit that picturing all of the future sexual scenarios I'd most likely encounter scared me a little. But I wasn't going to be concerned about it tonight. Tonight, all I wanted to do was spend as much time as possible with Jake.
When Jake arrived at my house, he kissed me goodnight. I let my mind wander as I watched him drive away from the window near my front door. Only now did my fantasies seem more attainable.
I stayed up until almost 4 a.m. thinking about my future with Jake. I was hit with a new wave of emotion every time I thought about his face or the way his hair hung over his shoulders or his deep brown eyes. I'll never get over the way his lips feel when they're pressed against mine. However, as I reflect on today's events, I realize I forgot to ask one crucial question on the cliff. My mind was racing so fast that I completely forgot to ask him a crucial question. What on earth did he do during his two-week absence? Whatever the case may be, we had all the time in the world. I'd be able to question him whenever I wanted.
He probably just needed to get away for a while. It probably wasn’t anything concerning. It couldn’t be… Right?

My Heart is Your Property Chapter 3
Grian had an idea. An amazing idea. He texted his friends' group chat.
To: The Boys
Grian: Boys, I have a proposition. This weekend is my birthday. So, I was thinking you guys could come over to my house for it. Is everyone free then?
Zee: Yeah, I'll be there.
Mini: I'll come.
BigB: Yep! I can make it.
Tom: I'll be there! Don't worry!
Martyn: Dunno why you're doing this this year. You usually don't celebrate your birthday. But Timmy will kill me if I don't come.
Tim: Yay! Martyn's coming! And I have to come because I'm your brother.
Grian: Nice! I'll see you all there!
Grian received a text from Martyn:
Martyn: Dude what are you doing? Why are you deciding to have a birthday party this year?
G: Me and the boys are trying to get you and Tim together.
Martyn: 🖕
Martyn: I don't even like him.
G: Really then why did you say this?
G:
Tumblr media
Martyn: That was taken out of context.
G: Admit your feelings or I'm sending that screenshot to Tim.
Martyn: Fuck you. Fine, I love Timmy.
Grian choked on the air
G: WHAT?!??!
G:I DIDN'T KNOW YOU LIKED HIM THAT BAD
G: YOU CAN'T JUST DROP THAT ON ME
Martyn: You told me to admit my feelings. I did. Now you can't show Timmy that screenshot.
G: I promise.
Martyn: Thank you.
Grian went to his other group chat.
To: The Boys (- Tim and Martyn)
Grian: Um so, this just happened
Tumblr media
Zee: What!?!? Martyn admitted it?!?!
Mini: How'd you get him to do that???
Grian: blackmailed him saying I'd send the "Timmy doesn't like me back" screenshot to Tim.
BigB: That's mean
Tom: You know that's the only way we could have gotten Martyn to admit he likes Tim.
BigB: I know, but you could have just let him tell Tim himself.
Grian: Yes, but now we have evidence that Martyn actually likes Jimmy and we're not reading the situation wrong. Because that would be awkward.
BigB: ok, I understand your reasoning.
Grian: Good
Martyn sat in his bed completely distraught. 'What the hell did I just do?' His phone started ringing. "Timmy :D", his phone screen displayed. Martyn picked up the phone.
"Hey what's up?"
"I'm excited! Grian's gonna have a birthday party! And you're coming! We're gonna have a great time! Are you excited?!"
"Yeah, just, we spend a lot of time together anyways without the rest of the guys there. I like it better when it's just me and you," Martyn said truthfully.
"I like it better when it's just us, too. But it's Grian's birthday, not ours. So we'll just have to make it work. Maybe we can find some time to be just us. Ok?" Jimmy asked hopefully.
"I'd like that."
"I'd like that too," Martyn could hear Jimmy smiling on the other side.
"Are we gonna hang up? It's late bud, and I want us to actually get a good night's sleep," Martyn chuckled.
"I'm not hanging up." Jimmy said.
"Well neither am I."
Martyn could hear a rustle in Jimmy's room. He heard Grian's voice.
"If you two lovebirds won't hang up! I will!" He said before the call ended. Martyn busted out laughing. 'Well someone's a bit grumpy.'
Martyn went to sleep after texting Jimmy a quick "goodnight, Timmy." He hoped Jimmy wasn't being blackmailed by Grian into admitting his feelings.
Jimmy was in his bedroom getting his phone back from Grian.
"Rude. You didn't have to hang up on him like that" Jimmy said defensively.
"Last time you two did that it lasted another hour. I'm trying to sleep, Tim. I don't need you two going 'No you hang up' until midnight."
"Fine. That's fair. But next time warn me when you're gonna snatch my phone from my hand. You scared the crap out of me!"
"Fine. I'm going to bed. Night, Tim." Grian said, walking to the door.
"Night, G." Jimmy looked at his phone.
MARTYN!: Goodnight, Timmy.
Timmy :D: Goodnight Martyn ❤️!
Timmy :D: I MEANT "😀"!
Timmy :D:I MEANT "😀"!
Timmy :D: NIGHT MARTYN 😀!
Jimmy quickly texted Zee.
Timmy: ZEE HELP
Zee🥽: Sigh, what'd you do this time?
Timmy:
Tumblr media
Zee🥽: Uh oh, hopefully he thinks it was an honest mistake.
Timmy: Hopefully! Because I don't like Martyn! I promise!
Zee🥽: Keep telling yourself that, bud.
Timmy: Why does everyone think I like him?!
Zee🥽: I dunno probably the fact that you go over to his house multiple times a week and that you don't stop talking about him when he's not around and that that mistake wouldn't have made you as panicked as it is. Or the fact that he always makes you laugh the hardest or smile the brightest. Or that you blush every time he compliments you. Or the fact that Grian sent me a picture of you sleeping on Martyn's chest with your arms wrapped around him last time you were at his house.
Zee: I dunno, do you like him?
Timmy: That is valid reasoning.
Timmy: But
Zee🥽: But what?
Timmy: I dunno. But I don't like him like that. Even if I did. He wouldn't like me back.
Zee🥽: But he does.
Timmy: But he doesn't.
Zee🥽:. But. He. DOES.
Tumblr media
Timmy: Where'd you get that? That's fake.
Zee🥽: I got it from your brother. He got Martyn to tell him the truth. Martyn loves you. He knows that. Why can't you see that you like him back?
Timmy: I'm still trying to process that Martyn likes me. Why'd he never tell me?
Zee🥽: Cause he thought you didn't like him back. Same reason you're hiding your feelings. You need to tell him.
Timmy: When?
Zee🥽: Friday. Grian's party. He needs to know.
Timmy: I'll try but I won't make any promises. I'm not very good at saying things like that.
Zee🥽: Of course it took you 20 minutes to tell me you were bi when you called me saying you need to talk.
Timmy: Yeah, I remember. Night, Z.
Zee🥽: Goodnight, Timmy.
Jimmy plugged his phone in. Took a deep breath, and sighed. "Two days. Just Two more days. You can do it, Jim. You already know he lo- likes you. How bad can this go?" He paused. "Not perfect, but everyone knows I'm not perfect," he muttered before pulling his blanket over himself. He tossed and turned for a while before finally falling asleep.

Baby’s First Christmas
Summary: Enjoying Baby’s First Christmas with Bonnie, John, & Isaiah.
A/N: Request by @peakyrogers  , hope you enjoy! Happy New Year! Wishing you the best this year!
Tumblr media
Bonnie: 6m (Son)
It was the big day in the Gold household. It was Aiden's first Christmas. You and Bonnie loved the holiday and always decorated your home accordingly. It was even more fun now that you had your son with you both. You took photos at the beginning of the month and made homemade Christmas cards for your family and friends. You were putting the last sock on your son’s foot before you heard the doorbell ring and loud shouts coming from the door.
You watch as your son’s eyes jump open even wider at the noises.
“I think our family is here to visit Aiden.” You laugh at him before bringing him into your arms, kissing the top of his head.
“If it isn’t the spitting image of my son or what?” Aberama throws his hands toward you as you come down the stairs. You hand your son over to his grandfather, going to stand next to Bonnie.
“I think so more and more everyday” You respond but with looking Bonnie straight in his eyes as he gives you a warm smile. You give him a chaste kiss enjoying the feeling of his lips on yours.
“Eww, enough you two. You already have one here for the party, wait until we leave to start cracking at number two.” His sister speaks, taking your son out his grandfather’s arms moving to sit on the couch next to the tree.
“Let’s open some presents.”  Aberama speaks.
You take a seat on the floor by the tree and help Bonnie pass out presents one by one. Everyone takes turns opening them and you sit your son down and help him open a few presents but he enjoyed the paper more.
“At least he’s having fun love.” Bonnie speaks as your son squeals in delight at the paper he’s playing with. As the day progressed with dinner, sweets, and hot chocolate. The baby went to bed on time but you and Bonnie went to bed way past your bedtime too busy talking off the sugar rush from the day.
John: 9m (Daughter)
“Miss Emerson, I think you’re almost ready!” John cheers as your nine month old daughter is standing up holding on to the table in front of her bounce on her small feet, as he sits behind her encouraging her movements.
“John, let the poor girl rest. You’ve been at it all week, yeah. Can’t tire her out before presents and on the night before her first Christmas at that hun.” You bend down to give him a kiss, feeling the cool metal of his rings brush against your skin as he tries to deepen it.
“You better behave or you won’t get your present from Santa.” You playfully smack his chest as he licks his lips.
“I called and talked to Santa today personally myself. Do you want to know what he said?” He says in a cocky tone with the smirk to match.
“What did Santa tell you Mr.Shelby?” You humor him right back, enjoying teasing each other.
“He told me you were on the naughty list and I was free to punish you.” His warm breath whispers into the shell of your ear.
“Well, if that’s true. I’ll be ready at a more suitable hour and I'll accept whatever punishment there is to offer. But for now we have a bedtime story and cookies that need to be laid out. So I need you to wrangle the crew for hot chocolate and remind Katie to bring the book down.”
“That’s a lot of things to do.”
“Well I'm sure you can make due.” You kiss him quick before going off to the kitchen to start the first batch of hot chocolate, while John took Emerson and went upstairs to get the rest of the children who were playing together.
Soon enough you were dropping Emerson in her crib and John was handling the other three. You went back downstairs to find your husband sipping on Santa’s whiskey and eating the first of quite a few cookies on the plate.
“We have some quick cleaning to do and then we can enjoy the rest of our evening alone Father Christmas.” You speak pouring your own small glass of whiskey and enjoy a cookie as John stared at you with total lust. It wasn’t long before you tangled in his arms as the moonlight glistened through the windows.
-
It felt like it wasn’t much longer until the sun was peeking through the windows and the thumps of footsteps and loud whispers were heard as the door was creaking open with your rambunctious children.
“Merry Christmas.” You hear your son Avery speak as your eyes meet his and help lift him onto the bed as Katie and John do the same until the whole crew is in your bed which wasn’t an uncommon occurrence in your home.
“Can we open our presents?” Robert, your second son asks John as he sits in between you two as Emerson is sitting on John’s chest.
“Yes, but everyone needs to make sure they brush their teeth and wash their face first. Then go downstairs and we’ll be down in a couple of minutes.” He speaks with a soft but serious tone as the children cheer rushing off to do as they were told.
“Merry Christmas Dad.” You kiss John’s cheek. “Happy first Christmas to my sweet girl.” You say to Emerson who was babbling to herself as she sat on the bed between you and John.
“Merry Christmas doll. Let's get ready for the day, got loads to do today.” He takes Emerson getting up and grabbing his robe off the chair. You follow suit getting yourself freshened up as John takes care of Emerson’s needs. You make it down stairs before them and watch as your kids chat among themselves about what Santa might have gotten them. John and Emerson come two minutes later and he lets the kids begin opening their presents as you go to heat Emerson a bottle to eat while her siblings open presents.
She eats content on the couch as John helps the children. When she’s done eating, you sit her on the floor by the tree next to John who helps her open her presents. It’s the cutest sight really, watching the man you love interact with all your children. He had his own love and devotion toward them, but he would always have a face of softness reserved for them only.
Once breakfast is finished and the kids are content in the living room playing with their toys as a Christmas movie plays in the background, John was back in his usual spot with Emerson trying to get her to walk yet again.
“Love I think she finally has it. Switch spots with me.” He speaks with excitement in his voice.
“Come on Emery. Come to daddy.” He cheers, clapping his hands and holding them open for her as you begin helping her walk the small length until she takes off on her own for just a few steps before falling into John’s lap.
“See, I knew you could do it! I told your mummy so!” He lifts her into the air kissing her cheeks as she laughs from the attention. You couldn’t be any happier on Christmas day than to be surrounded by your big beautiful family.
Isaiah: 11ms (twins girl and boy)
“Love we have to get going or we’re going to be late to mass and my dad will have our heads.” Your husband of five years stresses to you as you finish putting on your heeled boots.
“Alright, I’m almost ready. Get the kids in their car seats and I’ll help you bring them to the car okay?” You look up at him to see him give you a small smile knowing that you weren’t the cause of his stress but his father who asked him to give the opening and closing prayer to the service. He simply leaves the room to go back to your fraternal twins. You check your purse to make sure you have everything and the diaper bag as well. You zip up your coat and grab the bags making your way down stairs to see your husband at the door with both babies in their car seats wide awake.
“The doors on the car are open but be careful it’s a little slippery out.” He gives you your son, Leon, to take to the passenger side of the backseat while he takes your daughter, pearl, to the other half. Once everyone was strapped in, he began the short drive to the church. You would arrive just in time to grab your seats and for Isaiah to see his dad who looked like he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw you all walk through the door.
The service goes by pretty quickly with the songs, message, children play, and then lighting of the candles. You find yourselves talking with the congregation and Jeremiah to remind what time to come for presents and breakfast in the morning. You were headed back home because it was way past the kids bedtime. When you get in, you change them and place them down for the night. You and Isaiah took a quick shower together and made love in bed before falling asleep.
-
The next morning you found yourself at the tree with Isaiah and your twins in a circle at the tree as Jeremiah watched from the couch with a huge smile on his face. You watched as the twins took turns opening their presents to the best of their abilities and getting excited at the mess the wrapping paper was creating. Shoving every little toy in your face as it was revealed to them so they knew that you saw it.
“I have a special gift for you!” Isaiah hands you a box and you open it to see two tickets and a new silk dress.
“This is too much Isaiah. You’re too good to me.”
“That’s not all and we’ll be spending a three day weekend in London too, just the two of us. Dad’s going to watch the twins.” He winks at you as you feel the butterflies in your stomach grow even after all this time together.
“That sounds lovely, thank you.” You smile at him and his father. Once you clean up the wrapping papers you settle down for brunch with Isaiah and his father. Once it’s over, you put the twins down for a nap and the two of you decide to take a nap as well. That when he asks you a serious question.
“Do you want to have another baby soon?”
“Yes, we can. Right after the twin’s first birthday. Now let’s sleep.” You kiss his lips confirming the decision. You rest your head on his rest as his arms tight around your waist. You both fall asleep together.

Summer III
Part 05: With Some Other Girl
series masterlist | previous part
summary: Rafe’s actions surprised you when there’s no awkwardness lingering from last summer.
a/n: New summer new drama!! We're more than halfway through this series and I might post the final two parts within a week so be on the lookout! That's all! Enjoy part five xx
word count: 2.2k words
Tumblr media
Nowhere on the East or West coast did seafood quite like The Wreck. During your summers in the Outer Banks, you made sure that practically every other meal consisted of their to-die-for shrimp or amazing crab. For your birthday, back in October, your mom had even looked into getting food from The Wreck shipped to you before realizing that might have been a stretch.
You waited at the bar for the girl with the curly golden brown hair, and especially kind eyes, to return from the kitchen with your order. The smells of the food cooking made your mouth water.
A boy, who looked about your younger brother's age slide onto the bar stool next to you. His dirty blond hair fell into his eyes, clearly in need of a good haircut.
"Leave the customers alone, JJ." The girl set a paper bag with your food down in front of you, grease staining the bottom.
"I wasn't even doing anything, Kie," JJ protested.
"You're total's $40.53. Do you need a receipt?" She asked, taking your mom's card from your outstretched hand.
"I'm JJ, by the way." He held out his hand for you to shake but the girl - Kie, was it? - smacked it away.
"She's way out of your league, idiot. Sorry about him," she said turning to you.
You smiled at the both of them, their playfulness reminding you of your own friends from back home. "Nice to meet you, JJ." You picked up your bag of food, turning to leave.
"She was so into me." You heard JJ whisper to Kie as you walked to the front door.
"No way, is that y/n?" You froze, a few steps away from the exit, knowing exactly who that voice belonged to. "Hey," Rafe called again. "Get over here."
You'd been back in the Outer Banks a total of three days. You definitely hadn't been planning on seeing Rafe Cameron so soon. Well, after how last summer had ended, you hadn't really been counting on seeing him at all.
You spun on your heel, plastering on your best fake smile, and headed in the direction of Rafe's voice.
It's okay. Act casual. He's just an old friend. There doesn’t have to be any weirdness. You said to yourself, trying to calm your nerves.
Rafe was seated in a corner booth at the back of the restaurant, his arm slung over Phoebe’s shoulder who, herself, was sitting practically in his lap. Her expression looked especially irate at the fact that you were interrupting their - what was going on exactly? A date?
"Uh, hey guys," you said, approaching their table.
"Y/n!" Rafe repeated. "You're back for the summer?"
"Yeah, we got in a few days ago.”
"How are you? How's the boyfriend?"
Why the fuck was Rafe asking about Evan? You wondered, your eyes narrowing trying to gather some explanation from Rafe's face.
"We actually broke up. Last September. He hasn't been my boyfriend for a while." Correction, you'd gone back to Oregon and hadn't stopped thinking about Rafe, for the second year in a row. It didn't seem fair to Evan so you’d tried to let him down gently, the week before auditions for the fall musical no less. It became pretty clear how torn up about it he was when he started crying during the monologue portion of his audition and the tears weren't the kind you forced out solely for a performance.
"How sad," Phoebe said, turning her lip down in a fake pout making it clear she couldn't care less.
You just smiled back at her, not wanting to give any kind of validation. You could feel Rafe eyes on you.
"Okay, well, I guess I'll see you around." You turned to leave. Your mom was waiting outside in the car, probably wondering what was taking so long.
"I hope so," Rafe replied.
☼☼☼
You blinked your eyes open, adjusting to the bright sunlight filling the room. You rubbed the sleep from them, yawning.
Holy shit. This was definitely not your bedroom; this was Rafe's room. The events of last night came rushing back, the morning bless falling away.
You'd run into Cleo at the grocery store after your mom had sent you to get an onion she needed for dinner. Cleo had been buying chasers for Sawyer's my-parents-aren't home-and-they-left-the-liquor-cabinet-unlocked party and invited you. And you went. Which was probably the first mistake of the night.
Rafe had greeted you at the door with the kind of smile that screamed "I don't even remember our fight last summer." You'd opted to ignore the white powder under his nose, likely the reason for his bloodshot eyes.
The party had run dry after a few hours so Rafe offered to grab some more from his house since his whole family was in the Bahamas house for the weekend. You’d went with him because what the hell. The night hadn’t even been the least bit awkward. Mistake number two.
You sat on the Cameron's island counter as Rafe riffled through the cabinet, trying to decide which bottle Ward was least likely to notice was missing.
"Do you trust me?" He’d asked.
That was a loaded question but you’d nodded your head yes. He'd pushed your knees apart, stepping in between your legs like that's where he belonged.
"Tilt your head back," he'd instructed and you had.
Rafe uncapped the bottle of Malibu, pouring it straight into your mouth. He’d hummed with satisfaction as you swallowed the liquid. Your eyes locked as he ran a thumb up your neck and over your chin, whipping away the bit that had spilled before he brought your lips to meet his. It was by far the hottest thing anyone had ever done.
The kiss had tasted salty and coconutty, like the drink he had just poured into your mouth. He moved his other hand to your hip, pulling you in closer.
You'd only broken apart to fumble your way upstairs and into his room, shedding your clothing on the way, your lips finding each other's again and again, kissing like there was some ticking clock counting down the seconds.
You remembered the way Rafe's name had tumbled off your lips with his hand between your thighs. How his blue eyes held yours as he pushed into you. The sweet praises that he whispered into your ears as the both of you came underdone together. The way it all felt so fucking right, like the universe apologizing for the last two summers.
You hadn't meant to fall asleep, to spend the night in Rafe Cameron's bed but he'd wrapped his arm around you and your head fell to rest on his chest and sleep just came.
You kept your movements slow afraid of creaky floorboard as you slipped out of his bed. Sneaking out without Rafe waking up was sure to be the path of less resistance. Hadn't last night been a drunken mistake?
Your shorts had landed next to the bed and your bra was hanging from the door handle, the irony of that wasn't lost on you.
Rafe cleared his throat. "Good morning," he said. Oh, shit. So he was awake.
"I was just looking for my shirt," you replied.
The Cameron's front door opened with a bang. Cole and Milo's voices filled the house seconds later.
"Dude," Cole hollered. "Who'd you fuck last night? Some chick's panties are on your staircase."
Rafe's eyes meet yours and he leaped out of his bed. "Linen closet," he hissed, pulling open the door of the hallway closet and pushing you inside. "Stay here."
His footsteps echoed as he rushed down the stairs, stopping at the bottom to pick up your underwear and shove them in his back pocket.
"I need a fucking boat day," Rafe said to the boys. "I'm hungover as fuck. Can you go see if the Yeti coolers' in the garage? I think Ward brought it up from the boat last time."
"Uhh, yeah, sure," Milo answered. "C'mon Cole."
The sounds of their chatter disappeared and Rafe ran back up the stairs, pulling open the closet. "Okay, the coast is clear."
"Rafe, should we...uh...you know...talk about it?"
"What's there to talk about?" He asked back.
"Right," you answered unsure if you really believed that casual sex with Rafe Cameron was a possibility. "Can I have my underwear back?"
He shrugged, a smirk growing on his lips. "Nah, I think I'm gonna hold onto them. For safekeeping." What kind of bullshit patriarchal move was that? He looked over his shoulder to the lower level. "Milo and Cole will be back any second, you should probably go."
☼☼☼
You silently thanked your yesterday-self for having left your window unlocked just in case. You closed it quietly behind you and dove into your bed. The door to your bedroom swung open seconds later.
"Why are you still in bed y/n? I told you yesterday that we were going dress shopping for Midsummers today at noon. It’s less than a week away. Get up, please," your mom said.
"Sorry, mom. I'll meet you downstairs in ten."
"Hurry up." She pulled the door closed behind her as she left your room.
You breathed a sigh of relief, throwing off the covers you had hicked up to your neck to hide last night's outfit. Shit, had you really slept with Rafe Cameron? And then he brushed it off like it wasn't going to change things? As if whatever was going between the two of you couldn't get more complicated.
☼☼☼
The light bounced off the three-way mirror you were standing in front of, making the bedding on the dress sparkle.
"Turn around," your mother instructed. Apparently, this year's Midsummers’ theme was Hollywood Glamour like it was the fucking Met Gala or something so she'd been forcing you and in out of red dresses for the past hour and a half. "I really like this one y/n. The bow is so cute."
You resisted rolling your eyes. The bow was hideous, plus the high-low skirt screamed middle school dance. The bedding was itchy and you’d hardly had the dress on for five minutes.
The front door chimed announcing a new customer and Phoebe's figure appeared in the reflection of the mirror.
"I'm gonna go try on a different one, mom," you said, trying to duck into the changing room before Phoebe had the chance to see you.
"Wait, wait wait." Your mom grabbed your hips pulling you back in front of the mirror. "I just think this looks perfect on you, sweetie. Look," she stepped behind you, using one hand to twist your hair up into a makeshift updo. "you can wear your hair pinned up like this and we can get you a sparkly headband. It'll be gorgeous.”
You definitely weren't wearing any kind of a headband based on the fact that you weren't twelve anymore but, more important, you needed to get out of Phoebe’s line of sight like now. "Yeah, okay, mom. That sounds fine. We can get it then."
"Aw, honey. Do you not like it?" She asked, cocking her head to the side. "Cause we can try a different score. Even though this is the only dress store for thirty miles," she mumbled under her breath.
Phoebe glanced over from the front counter, her eyes meeting yours in the mirror. Your mother's voice became muffled as panic rose in your chest. You hadn't even thought about it last night but now all you could remember was Phoebe with Rafe's arm wrapped around her at The Wreck.
Phoebe abandoned her position at the front of the store, walking over to you.
"Hi y/n!" She started, her voicer reaching an octave that screamed fake niceties. "You must be y/n's mom. You two couldn't look anything more alike." That was a lie. You and your mom couldn't look more different. It was your older sister who was practically your mother’s clone.
God, what game was Phoebe playing?
"Oh my gosh.” She took half a step closer forcing you to notice the couple inches she had on you. "Is this your dress for Midsummers? It's so cute," she said, somehow managing to pronounce cute with two syllables.
Another lie. The dress was terrible.
"I'm just picking up my dress too. Custom-made." Phoebe flashed a smile to your mom. "I'm trying to talk Rafe into getting a matching bow-tie but he refuses. Boys," she giggled.
Shhe must have registered the look of surprise on your face. "Oh, did he not tell you we were going together? I wouldn't take it personally. We've been going together since freshman year. It's tradition at this point."
The saleswoman returned from the back of the store, a garment bag in her hand. "Well, I've gotta run. See you around!" She pranced off, her vanilla perfume lingering in the air.
"She seems nice. I'm so glad you're making friends here, honey.”
"Oh, yeah. She’s the best." If your mom heard the sarcasm in your voice, she chose to ignore it. "I'm going to try on the black one," you huffed, heading back into the changing room.
It wasn't like going with Rafe to Midsummers was in the realm of possibilities anyway, so why was it bothering you so much that he was taking Phoebe? Either way, there was nothing stopping you from making Rafe wish it was you on his arm instead. Petty wasn’t usually your style but something about the memory of Rafe’s lip on your neck being fresh in your mind made all rational thoughts go out the window. Game on Phoebe.

Chapter Fourteen ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ Chapter Sixteen
Marnie pov.
I walk into the record company, finding a very young guy at the front desk, probably the intern. Encumbered with phone calls and notes, I wait for him to finish everything before speaking. His lost eyes soon find me and he smiles sympathetically.
“Hi Marnie, Luke is in studio three.” he whispers quickly, getting back on the phone.
I smile in thanks, heading down the hallway he's pointed out. I didn't think it would be so easy. The noise coming from behind the door to studio three startles me. The boys are laughing and screaming so loud, it amazes me that no one came to complain.
I knock on the door twice, hard, to try to get their attention over that area. A guy in a cap opens the door, revealing a room with at least eight people inside.
Luke is the first to jump out of his chair, coming over to me, grinning hugely, pulling me into the room. Ash gets up too, following close behind.
“Sorry for interrupting, but I needed to talk to you.” I look at Luke, who agrees. I pull him out of the room as I hear Irwin complain.
"A disregard for my friendship. Before, she used to come here to see me, not to see you, you empty-headed bunch.”
"She never came to see you." Hood opposes.
I ignore the pre school fight, focusing on the tall blonde in front of me. I lean against the wall, letting him get closer.
Luke had spent Friday night with me, taking care of me. We also spent Saturday morning together, just existing on the couch. That was definitely a very good point for both of us and it really strengthened our relationship. It also didn't make him leave my thoughts, earning him the title of the cutest guy I know.
Never would Stephen do that to me, even because when I was bad he didn't even come close, not wanting to “catch my bad energy”.
“You forgot that at home.” I give his coat, trying to hide it was against my will deliver it so easily.
I saw the coat the second Hemmo left the house, but when the perfume enveloped me, I decided for my own good, to just keep it for a little while, spending day and night in it. Luke stares at me with a raised eyebrow before taking the coat from my hands, smiling.
“Funny, I really missed it, but yesterday, I saw it in your stories, so I didn't worry anymore.” I roll my eyes, feeling my cheeks heat up. "Let me enjoy that you still don't hate me today."
“Too late.” I interrupt him, biting my lip.
"I wonder if I can pick you up, so we can go to the Troubadour together."
The boys are playing there today, for the Friends of Friends event, and I was particularly excited, it would be the first time I would see them play live. “First time”.
I wrinkle my forehead and look around, pretending I was thinking about it. Luke looks at me in disbelief, holding back his laughter. I pout, shaking my head.
"I think you can! Yes, you can. I allow.” I press my lips together, wanting not to laugh.
“Oh God, you.” he shakes his head, looking away. I let out my laugh. "Can I pick you up at 7pm? I need to be at the Troubadour at least an hour before the show.”
“Of course! No problems. Go! Now I need to talk to Ash.” I push him back to the door.
“It's about my birthday, isn't it?” he opens an excited smile.
I dissolve my expression, wanting to hit him. Damn it, he knows. I feel the surprise party going straight down the drain, but I don't want to give in to it.
“No! The world doesn't revolve around you, Hemmings.” I cross my arm, teasing him.
“It's about my birthday! Alright, I'm going to pretend I don't know anything.” he takes two leaps into place happily.
“My God, I hate you.” I hide my face, sighing. I can't believe he screwed up his own surprise party.
“Hey.” I hear his voice close. I take my hands away from my face, finding his very close. His lips steal a kiss from me, quickly.
“Go away!” I pick up my bag, hitting him.
Luke walks into the studio laughing, yelling at Ash that I've been waiting. I walk around the hallway, wanting to wipe the stupid smile off my face. I hide my face again, returning to the scene that just happened about 50 times, at least.
“Say it!” Ash approaches.
“I hate him!” I point to the studio, taking a deep breath.
“Of course you do! And the sky is green. I can see how much you hate him, by that silly smile on your face.” Irwin raises an eyebrow.
"Don't make me use my purse against you too." I scare away the latest happenings, focusing on what mattered. "Do you have the ring?" he hands me a silver ring set with a black stone.
“Quickly, because he's already noticed he's gone.” I nod, still analyzing the jewelry.
"I'm going right now and tonight I'll return you at the Troubadour." I keep the piece in my bag. "All set for Friday?" he nodded. "You know he knows, don't you? How did he find out?”
“Behind that stupid face, he's smart sometimes.” I roll my eyes at my friend, laughing. “Seriously, if you pay attention, sometimes it feels like there's an elevator song playing in his head. Especially when he's standing staring at something.” I laugh when Ash decides to imitate Luke, staring blankly at the wall.
“You guys are terrible. Well, I'll be on my way, see you later.” I give a kiss on his cheek.
Thursday is Luke's birthday and I, more than anyone, want it to be a perfect day. Also, I want to give him a nice present that somehow doesn't involve my body, as I apparently did before.
Searching the internet, I found a store in east LA that sold some jewelry that I thought would be to his taste. I was going after a box with five rings and three necklaces, which looked like they were made for Luke.
If I could, I would advance the time, just to give the gift soon. I just want to see his face and hope he likes it the way I think it will.
I walk past reception, waving goodbye to the poor receptionist who still seemed tangled up with the phones. Interns.
"Marnie?" I turn around when I hear my name. The man in the dress shirt, who had just passed me, approaches smiling.
“Yes?” I look at him confused.
“Of course, you don't remember. Sorry! I'm John, 5sos’ tour manager. How are you?”
“Oh! I'm great, thanks.” I soften my posture. Being Luke's girlfriend, I must have seen John a thousand times.
"It was quite a scare. I'm relieved you're okay.” I smile gratefully at the concern. "Would you have a minute for us to talk?"
Luke pov.
I lean against the car, waiting for Marnie to get out. I take a deep breath, trying not to let the anxiety get the better of me. We've practically spent the weekend together, we're getting closer, she's letting her guard down with every second we spend together, letting me fight to win her back, and yet here I am, shaking like a stick, as if it was the first time we went out together.
"Pathetic!" I say to myself, not accepting being like this.
We dated for two years, it's not like she was a stranger. I know her better than she does. I already know everything she likes, how she's going to react to every move I make and even then, I'm terrified of doing something wrong.
When I realized I was falling in love again with every detail of her, I didn't think that insecurity would come back with it. In fact, I thought it would be better than the first time, that I would be more confident and secure. But it’s Marnie I'm talking about, she eliminates any security and logic in me.
I twirl the little ring through my fingers, noticing how cold and sweaty my hand was. Yes, that human being not five feet tall, can mess with me.
I hear the door unlock, prompting me to put the ring away quickly. Marnie steps in front of me, walking around with open arms. I give her the dumbest smile.
“So? Am I OK?” she stretches out her Friends of Friends hoddie proudly.
"You look spectacular." I sigh, feeling my heart race.
"Not really, it was a little old thing that was in the back of my closet." she laughs, sounding like her mother last week. I blink a few times, trying to disguise the stupid face I must be making.
“You really look fantastic.” I say before holding her body against mine. I sink my nose into her neck, taking in all of her scent, letting into my bloodstream, fueling the butterflies in my stomach, along with the touch of her skin against mine, even with the clothes between us.
I ease my grip, releasing her, but her body remains pinned to mine and she pulls me back, squeezing me tighter. The action takes me by surprise. Not that I didn't want to hold her, I could live the rest of my life here, in her arms. But that indicated something was wrong.
“Is it everything OK?” I whisper, overcome with worry. Marnie just nods, affirming, or rather lying to me. She's not fine.
Her body pulls away and I see a sad glint in her eyes. My body tenses, seeing that fake smile take her lips, unlike the one she gave just minutes ago. My face hardens, realizing she was acting.
“Marnie…” I start my speech to say that she could tell me anything, but she interrupts me.
“We're late, we need to go. Let's go!” she dodges around me, heading for the car door.
I sigh, seeing that I won't be able to get anything out of her today. As far as I know, she doesn't want to spoil the night and will hold it off until the end. I hate when she does that. Keep everything to herself, without the slightest need, we can share the problem and even the pain, that's what a couple does, they support each other.
We left the building, taking the expressway to get there faster. Marnie babbles about her excitement to see the band play live. Normally, I love to hear and see her talk too much. Seeing her eyes flashing rapidly, her tongue getting tangled up in some difficult word, or seeing her start to laugh before she can get the funny part out. Her clumsy hands, moving quickly until she managed to drop something.
But now, I can only move my head automatically, still with my mind on her bad performance from before. Until this morning everything was fine, she was excited and happy. Until minutes ago she was happy. But now it's just a facade covering something I can't quite make out what it is.
She didn't argue with Leah, because the gossip didn't get through to me, and I'm sure Noah would have let me know by now, so we can set the process for the two of them to make up. I didn't see anything on the internet that could have messed with her. Unless something happened during the photo shoot.
"Luke?" I look quickly at her, who was looking at me amused. “Are you OK?” now she was the one asking.
“Yeah! Sorry, I daydreamed a bit. Thinking about everything I need to do getting there. What did you say?” I try to push my worry away, focusing solely on her, which is what I cared about.
"I asked if you're going to play my song?" my cheeks heat up. She knows?
"What song?" I question carefully.
“The one made for me, Amnesia.” I stop at the light, staring at her mischievous smile. This one is not fake.
"You didn't make that joke." I say disappointed. Marnie laughs beside me. “I refuse to accept that you made such a horrible joke. Marnie, you were not like that.” I shake my head.
“It was good, you can't deny it.” she pulls my hand into her lap. I freeze from the movement, feeling my skin tingle.
“It was terrible and it insults me somehow. I taught you wonderful jokes.” her fake, forced laugh catches my attention as I accelerate.
"I hear your jokes are horrible." I look quickly at her, who's sitting sideways, her head leaning back against the bench. Shit, she is so beautiful.
“This is a huge lie.” her laugh fills the car again.
The mood gets better the rest of the way. I still have my mind hammering at that moment, but I leave it for later, as she probably would. We entered through the back of the Troubadour, meeting everyone in the hallway and dressing room.
I hold her hand, pulling her close to me as we walk into the crowd. As I expected, M&Ms become the center of everything, everyone wants to say hello to her and see if she really was okay. I leave her for a few seconds in everyone's company, pulling Ashton and Leah aside.
"Do you guys know if something happened to Marnie?" They deny it. "Didn't you discuss?"
“No! In fact, I'm missing it.” Leah turns her face away, watching M&Ms laugh among the crowd. “What there was?” she looks at me again. I resume the scene for the two of them.
“She was fine when she left the record company.” Ash reinforces my thinking.
"I didn't know anything about today's photo shoot." Leah adds. "You don't think Stephen might have shown up again, do you? Or even that bitch? Bethany?” I shake my head.
Stephen had to be really, really dumb to show up to Marnie after she said she knew everything. And Bethany never tried to talk to her after what happened, I doubt she would try now.
“I'm sure she doesn't want to say anything yet so as not to spoil the night, we know how she is.” Leah rolls her eyes, she also hates such an attitude. “But later on, she might tell what happened and right away it will be with one of the three of us.”
"If she says anything later, I'll talk to you." Hastings warns.
I thank the brunette, who quickly rejoins Marnie. I watch her extend her still-in-a-cast arm for them to sign in the few empty spaces.
I quickly prepare for the show so I can stay with her for a few more seconds before taking the stage. I position myself behind her, who was sitting on the arm of the sofa, letting her body lean against mine. I watch for her hand moving up to her shoulder, placing it under mine. I drop a kiss to her pink hair, watching her lean her head back further, looking up at me with a beautiful smile.
Shit, I'm so in love with her.
Minutes after a lot of mess, we got ready for the stage. Marnie comes to me before running to their place. I adjust the guitar, opening my arms to her, who comes bouncing.
"How much have you had to drink?" I ask, laughing, looking at her rosy cheeks.
“Just a little.” It hangs around my neck. “I promise not to pick a fight with anyone." she laughs.
“Thanks! I feel more relaxed.”
“Good show!” she wish me, stealing a kiss like I did earlier.
Marnie escapes my arms like sand, running to the door and running away hand in hand with Leah. I rub my face hard, not accepting how she can move me so much.
I approach the guys, doing our circle like every time we go on stage.
The lights blind me for a few seconds and soon I can see that sea of people ecstatic to see us there. Ashton takes the lead, thanking everyone in advance for their presence and explaining why we're there.
I position myself at the microphone, ready to start singing Youngblood. Before I give the cue, I look upstairs, seeing her cotton candy hair watching me with a mixture of admiration and sadness. I blink at her, who smiles lightly and without strength. I play the chord, trying to focus my attention on the show and the new song I'm going to sing for her next, but all that goes around my head is: What's going on, Marnie?
OMG! Luke's new music video, am I right?

Never say Goodbye
Part 7
Baby, I got to go Jules  is here crying" I lie
"Okay Mama I love you call you later" Derek says
" I love you too," I say hanging up.
"What're you doing here?' I say
"Y/n, it's Lyndsey, she in the hospital" Joe says
"What?, Why? " I panic
"I'll explain on the way, grab your things I'll grab Noah.
Joe explain the Lyndsey passed out at work and hit her head pretty bad
"When Josh called me you automatically came to my mind, you two are closer than anything" he says placing his hand on yours.
"Thank you, I appreciate you coming to get me and Noah" I say
When I  arrived at the hospital, I was greeted by Josh and my parents telling you Lyndsey was stable but couldn't remember much and was asking for me.
"Joe can you please sit with Noah" I ask
"Of course" he smiles, taking Noah from me.
After I saw Lyndsey, I stepped out to call Derek noticing I had a missed call from him.
"Yea Y/n, how's Lyndsey?" He asks
"She's…..wait how'd you know? I ask confused
"When you didn't answer, I called Julianna and it turns out she was at the hospital already waiting to get in touch with you, so my question is where were you?" He asks
"I was at the hotel on the phone with my husband, they sent Joe to pick Noah and I up" I say
"Yea of course, Joe ...is this always gonna be a thing Y/n?" He asks
"What? I ask
"This you and Joe shit, I thought when we got together you were over him, he was past was the past and we were the future, but now it seems there's situation with you and Joe" he says annoyed
"Derek, there is no me and Joe, we are friends, that's it and that's all" I say
"I gotta go, the team is waiting for me" Derek says hanging up not even saying " I love you" .
*A few weeks later*
I was sitting at home planning Noah's first birthday while he was napping when I heard our  front door open.
"Hey," Derek says walking into the dining room where I was sitting.
"Hi," I reply looking back to the laptop screen of party supplies.
"Where's little man?" He asks
"Napping finally, his back teeth are coming in pretty bad" I say
"Damn poor kid" he says, grabbing water from the kitchen.
After a few minutes of being silent, which was nothing new in the last couple of weeks ever since Joe brought you to the hospital to see Lyndsey.
"You working?" He asked
"No, just planning Noah's party" I smile
"Without me?" He asks
"It's not official just themes he would like, places, and guest list" I explain
"I was joking Y/n, so what're we looking at here" he says sitting beside me
"Well he's into Mickey Mouse and…"  I was cut off by Derek's phone ringing
"Hold that thought"  he says looking at his phone and leaving the room.
Later that night I just finished putting Noah to bed. I went into our bedroom, Derek was on his laptop.
''Don't forget to send you mom her ticket for the he plane ride to Florida for Easter" I remind him
"Shit, I completely forgot, there's a big case in Colorado we're we wanted for,  I leave tomorrow." He sighs
"What? Derek you just got home a few hours ago." I say
"I know baby, but it's part of the job" he says
"Fine I'll send her the ticket information, will you at least be here for Easter ?" I ask
"Can't promise anything," he says closing his laptop.
Easter had come and gone, Derek of course was still away now on a new case, spending a few extra days in  Florida I ran into an old friend  who wanted me to design her wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses. Of course I accepted, she also told me about a small boutique her fiance's mom was selling.
" I immediately thought of you, and how incredible it would be for to to be able to sell your designs, Y/n you're so talented everyone should see it " she smiles
"Awe, thanks Trish I'll definitely think about it, this would be a dream come true for me to have my own shop" I smile
When I arrive back home Derek is already home, he takes Noah as I grab our bags bringing them into the house.
"How was the case?' I ask
"Exhausting, miss my boy" he smiles at Noah"
"Oh, yea thanks, I missed you too" I joke
"Like you didn't have a good ole time in Florida, I'm sure Joe was around" he says
"What the hell's that supposed to mean?' I ask
"Nothing forget it" he says
" Derek, how long are you gonna keep throwing what I did with Joe up in my face, I've apologized countless times, I don't know what else to do'' I say
" Make a decision our family or Joe" he says
"You're not serious, Derek that's crazy" I laugh
"I am serious Y/n, Noah and I or Joe" he say again
"Derek, you and Noah are my life, there's nothing between Joe and I, he's  my past like your exes are your past" I say stepping closer to him
"Good, whatta say we go out to eat, just the two of us, I'll see if moms can keep Noah" he smiles kissing my head
All I did was not, trying to register how in the hell I was gonna cut all ties to Joe.
At dinner I tell Derek about running into Trish, about her wedding and the shop.
"Congratulations sweetheart, but how are you gonna run a shop in Florida from Virginia" he asks
" That's the problem, I'll to be in Florida until I get the shop fully staffed and running properly" I say
Just as Derek is about to speak I get a awful pains in my abdomen hitching over in pain
"Y/n, are you okay?Baby Girl talk to me"  Derek says but I can't answer the pain is too unbearable.
Next thing I know I wake up in the hospital.
Derek and I lost our baby.
*October 2016*
Noah's birthday was emotional, and wonderful. Derek's sister Desiree, Lyndsey and I planned the most amazing sesame street birthday party.
All of my family and Derek's family came to celebrate our favorite boy.
I had rented a house in Tampa, so I can be close to the shop and my family. Derek flies down as often as he can. The shop is coming along great, I hired a few girls to help run the shop, and Lyndsey is  the manager.  I was setting up a manikin with a gorgeous sun dress I had recently designed when I heard a tap on the window.
I look up seeing Joe.
"Hey stranger how's it going?'' he smiles
"Hi, yeah sorry been a little distracted" I smile.
I know what you're thinking, but I couldn't do it, I couldn't cut all ties with Joe he meant to much to me, and after talking to Lyndsey she had suggested that I tell Derek what he wants to hear and pretend to cut all ties with Joe but really I would be discreet about still being friends with him.
"I see that, the shop is coming along nice, oh by the way this is for my buddy Noah, sorry I missed the party" he smiles handing me a gift bag.
"Joe you didn't have to" I say
"I wanted too" he says
"Thank you" I smile
"Hey," Joe says grabbing my hand." Sorry to hear about the baby, if you need anything I'm here,"
"Thank you, that means a lot," I say .
"Oh, before I go I'll have Jojo this weekend, she's been bugging me to see Noah..maybe we can set something up?' he asks
"Yeah of course, I'll call you" I say .
*March 2017*
The shop was getting more business that I could ever imagine, I was originally supposed to give up the rental house a few months ago but with the business I had to postpone that plan, Derek helps when he can, which hasn't been very often so I left Lyndsey in charge of the shop and Noah and I headed to Virginia to see Derek.
"Y/n, what brings  you here?" Erin Derek's boss asks as I enter the office with Noah.
"Hi, Erin, just came to surprise Derek" I smile
"He got so big, looks just like you and Derek, and he's in his office" she smiles
I knock on Derek's door.
"Come in" I hear him say
As I enter in, I see Derek at his desk and a blonde woman sitting in a chair in front of his desk.
"Sorry I didn't know you were busy we can wait" I say
"No Y/n, it's fine we were just finishing up paperwork on a case come in… and this Nina she's a new team member here."  He says
"Hi" I greet her
"Nina this is my wife Y/n, and our son Noah" he smiles picking up Noah
"Hi, Derek he's adorable!'' she smiles
Derek takes Noah and I for lunch
"So how'd you like Nina?" He asks
"She's nice" I say cutting Noah's food
"Glad you like her, she's my new partner" he says
"Wait what about Kevin?'' I ask
"He's out on leave, and with no given date on his return I asked for Nina" he says
"Hold on, you asked for her?, And why was that?" I ask
"She's a great cop, she basically ran a whole unit in Colorado" he shrugs
"Reassign her'' I say
"What? Y/n are you crazy?" He snaps
"No, I'm not crazy. I saw the way she looked at you Derek" I say
"Y/n, come on you're being ridiculous" he says
"Are you sleeping with her?" I ask
"What? Y/n this is nuts!" He says
"Answer me, there was a big case in Colorado was there?, You went to meet her, are you sleeping with her Derek" I almost yell
"Y/n, I think we need to discuss this his at home" he says .
"No, Derek I don't we do..I think I just got my answer" I say grabbing Noah and walking out of the restaurant.
