This fandom’s going through a lot of discourse right now, especially regarding mischaracterization, so here’s a list of non-rape-related details the game and Q&As tell us about Anya

(disclaimer: I’ve watched a handful of playthroughs but haven’t played Mouthwashing myself)

She’s competitive (re: game night)

She’s determined and/or stubborn (applying for medical school again and again to the detriment of her savings, keeping Curly alive though mercy-killing him would be just as acceptable)

She’s insanely good at her job even if she’s not legally a nurse (keeping Curly alive this long on very limited supplies, holy hell)

She’s a logical person (assessing situations quickly and accurately, taking time to think things through before acting, paying attention to detail)

She’s friendly toward her coworkers (teasing Swansea about his sweet tooth, pinning Daisuke’s art on the board in Medical, expressing amusement when Curly says something corny)

She gets lost in thought sometimes (Swansea complains she doesn’t always pay attention when he’s talking to her)

She and Curly have the same taste in music (Curly compliments her playlist)

She’s willing to break rules when it seems beneficial (hiding the gun, arguing that they should break into the cargo hold, allowing Curly to take over Jimmy’s psych eval)

She’s very academically inclined (reading and rereading manuals beyond her “wheelhouse” as the nurse, spending her free time studying)

She likes going for runs, horrible reality TV, and fast food

Tim, buddy, what do you mean you might had accidentally made a Love Child?!

Danny finds out that

1. He's a clonish 'love child' of two heroes

2. He was accidentally created during one of his donors mental break downs after losing his father and best friends (one of which was his other donor)

3. CW interfered before his creator realized what he made and pulled him out of that dimension because "it would had lead that world to true ruin if he found out at his state of mind. He's better now but it would had been the final straw for him should anything had happened to you in his care and given who he had to partner up with later... I did what I had to."

4. Due to Danny having a bad fall out with his parents after he told them about being Phantom (they didn't attack him... but they did disown him.) Danny is left adrift of what to do. He doesn't wanna bug Jazz, she's in college and dorming. Tuckers place has no room. Sam's parents would never let him stay. Vlad was a definitely a no go. And Dani (Ellie) last check in was near the Amazon rainforest.

5. Danny finds out some of his powers might not be as ghostly as he thought... it does explain the huge power boost some of his powers have compared to other ghosts.

6. He went to Clockwork... who proceeded to tell him the truth, smile his cryptic smile while saying "and now. Have fun this time around. I'll see you again in due time Daniel." Before yeeting him into a portal.

7. Danny woke up in his home dimension.... deaged to being five years old (the age he would be if he stayed and grew by now) (DC timeline is slower than DP in this)

8. He woke up apparently his creator's home city... during a Gala (Danny woke up in a garden, dazed and confused. His memories are fuzzy)... and wandered into the party... and apparently he looked like a perfect mix of his.. dads? Which catches A LOT of peoples attention.

9. Especially with Tim Drake-Wayne and Conner Kent-Luthor just announcing they're dating that very night.

10. Rumors and gossip of a random kid, who looks just like the recent happily announced couple, go flying quickly among the elite... and reaches certain ears before it gets to batfam and supers (I have a feeling they learned how to block out rumors and gossips during these events)

11. Those ears happen to be Lex Luthor and Ra's al Ghul (both who are there at the Gala just to annoy and unnerve the Bats and Supers)

12. By the time the rumors get to Tim and Conner, they find Danny almost getting taken away by one of those two.

I rewatched Zuko and Azula's Agni Kai recently and it's left me wondering – when Zuko begins to goad Azula into striking him with lightning, was he making the decision to kill her?

Because had Azula shot lightning directly at him like he planned and not at Katara, the most forthright implication to me is that he was intending to strike Azula with her own lightning. And Azula, for all her mastery, would not have been able to counter that.

On the other hand, maybe he wasn't planning to kill her at all and was simply planning to redirect it elsewhere (similar to what he did with Ozai). But given the tone of tragedy throughout the Agni Kai, the fact that they both acknowledge that this fight will be "the end" to them, I don't think it's inaccurate to read Zuko's actions as him preparing to kill Azula, even though an Agni Kai doesn't have to end with death (and in canon it didn't). Also, why goad her into striking him with lightning if he wasn't planning on doing something intentional with it? If anything, it adds another layer to the tragedy to me, because I don't believe Zuko wants to kill her. And it stands in such contrast to the way that Azula desperately wants to kill him.

I also think that there would have even been something sadly poetic in that sort of demise for Azula should the Agni Kai had gone this direction: Azula, struck down by her preferred sub-skill. Azula, struck down by the very bolt of lightning that she intended to kill her brother with. Azula, struck down by her own power.

or he's chronically in pain and sometimes it gets much much worse so he can't hide it anymore

Imagine PMD2 Riolu Partner if Hero never came back after restoring Temporal Tower: If Arceus hadn't intervened and the Dark Future had disappeared.

Riolu would've returned to the guild, continued with their apprenticeship and that night on the beach, they try to accept that the dark future and hero are really gone. The dark... future?

If Hero and everyone else was from the future, then, they'll be born into this world eventually, right? It's not clear how far in the future the dark future was, but Riolu has to believe that it'll be within their lifetime.

So, Partner sets out, searching the globe for the last of the humans, and their family. Eventually, they stumble across a Duskull, young and innocent, but Riolu would recognise that aura anywhere, they couldn't forget it if they tried. Riolu shrinks away at first but slowly realises, this time, Dusknoir had the chance to be something completely different. So, after a short conversation, Riolu wishes Duskull well and continues on their journey.

Years later, Partner finds a young Treecko, living happily in the woods, surrounded by siblings and loving parents. This Treecko looks totally different from Grovyle, he doesn't have the scars, or that same hard gaze. No, this Treecko is laughing, and Partner tears up, knowing this is what always should have been. If only this Treecko knew how much the sunrise meant to him.

Partner continues, from town to town, across the continent Partner searches and... nothing. No hide nor hair of a human. So, Partner searches the globe again, and still nothing. Everyone says the same thing, humans are a myth, they've never lived in this world.

Heartbroken, Partner returns to Treasure Town, hoping to find some semblance of joy in what was once their dream. Time passes and Marill comes by the guild, saying they found someone lost, wandering through the woods. It's a Phantump. They seem confused, scared, unable to remember anything except a name.

Riolu knows it before they hear the name. This. This is Hero. Someway, somehow, Hero is here, right now. Partner hugs the Phantump and the ghost type flinches away, cautiously returning the hug after a moment.

Partner's heart aches and they offer to let Phantump stay with them at the guild and get this all figured out. Phantump agrees and Partner gets to relive their relationship all over again. Maybe this time they can be the one to give Hero strength.

So as you all have just noticed, I have requested a witch design from the wonderful @designing-witch-forms-4-ur-faves of one of my comfort characters, Moxy as a witch. I’ve been wanting to request this for a while as I felt he would be the perfect victim to be to Kyubey and become well.. A magical boy and then fall into despair into a witch! I know it’s bad making my favourite character suffer, but it would really be fitting for him to make a contract with kyubey and grant his wish!

But before I requested him, after seeing this incredible artist make so many cool witch designs he actully inspired me to create my own witch design! And of course I decided to make a witch form of Moxy. But I did wanted to see his’s interpetstion and design for a witch form based off of him! And I honestly love it!

Now that he completed my request! Allow me to show you all my design that I came in mind for a witch form of the obscure CN toon dog!

Fuzzi, the brodcast witch

“The witch of brodcast, his nature is playful. All he wanted was to be a star. This witch lures his victims to his laybrinth and force them to watch him perform for them. He craves the spotlight, he wants to be adored. But he always gets scared and worried if he would lose his adoring fans and always worring if he would never be perfect.”

But yeah, I actully designed this before I asked the artist my request. But I had a lot of fun drawing this design and actully thinking about how would I fit his whole personality, dream, and his aesthetic into this form!

For this, I actully made a couple of sketches on my sketchbook first of what would his witch form would be like? I wanted his form to be a little cute and adorable like Charolette and Candy’s designs. Becuase I thought an adorable look would make him look more attractting to his victims, and referance merchandise which would make perfect sense! I also wanted him to be like a plushie to fit his whole asymetircal features to his original design. I also wanted to added a few refrances to some symbols to fame and the film and television industry, but of course make it all twisted. Which is why I wanted to add one of those pink hollywood stars on his neck, but also make it cracked. And even give him this burnt fim reel as a leash! I even gave him a crown becuase of course, he wants to be famous and he would want to feel important and popular im his labyrith.

Now I originaly wanted to make his head referance the drama masks, but then I thought of a cool design to make his left side of his face very staticy. I know he has a bit of electrical abilities as there was this one clip where while he was trying to watch tv with his friend Flea the tv got a bit lost in signal so as a bit of a solution, he stood on the tv and used his ears as tv attennas. Which is intresting but also cute.

And in the pilot of the moxy and flea show while he was being used in experaments by Tony the bannana farmer he electrocuted him twice and… Seem to like it? 😅

Oh by the way! This isn’t first time he got electrocuted. But it mostly happens to him a bit

But it sounds like he has a bit of resistant to electricity! So I wanted to add an actual tv anttena to his left ear where it’s has that chewed mark. I then also added a electric plug as part of tail. All of that I wanted to referance his whole pirate tv show gig and also a bit of his janitorial and repair job.

The star patch on the left side of his face is supposed to referance a pirate’s eye patch. Since Moxy himself host a pirate tv show and commits piracy with that begind CN’s back! And of course I wanted to add those two creepy looking spotlights to referance his heterochromia eyes and how his dream to be an actor. So I though of maybe making those two spotlights his actual eyes and as a way to spot intruders and victims to his laybrith.

Speaking of laybrith, I feel like his witch form’s labyrith would look like a bit of his pirate tv show’s studios but also be like all creepy, twisted, and have that kidcore feel. Like have a bunch of eyes around his labyrith’s walls that looks like all eyes are on him. And of course have a stage where he can entertain and kill his vicitms!

I was thinking of giving him a mallet like the one he keeps but I decided not to put that in his final design.

And finally, for his familiar I was definalty thinking of making a familiar that looks a lot like his pal Flea but mixed with a few fame symbols like spotlights for eyes, a film camera on it’s back, and even use a mix of curtains and line poles as wings.

But overall, this was something I really had a lot of fun thinking about and planned! ^ ^

What if Optimus was sparked when everything was going down? He and D-16 had names planned for sparklings because they were bored in the Mines sometimes. Either ends with Megatron hearing and ending his emo phase early, or Megatron finds out he's a dad when said sparkling tries to kill him during the war. Might be multiple sparklings. I have names, alts, and personalities for them, in case you wanna hear em

that sounds like it could be either very angsty or very fluffy! those are the best AUs imo 🤭 canon is already so dramatic and emotionally charged adding a sparkling (or more) is like adding fuel to a fire aksjdhksa

and the idea of them already having the names beforehand?? sick and twisted. imagine megatron hearing about optimus' sparkling and instead of drawing the more obvious conclusion (that it's his, duh) he just. goes into a rage because he thinks OP used the names they came up with to name the sparkling he had with someone else. again. could be either really funny or heartbreaking depending on how you play it lmao

So I’m probably not the first person to question this, but what did Sentinel do with all the T-cogs he stole from the miners?

I get that he took them to create a lower class of Cybertronians to work in the mines to pay off his debt to the Quintessons, I know why he did it. I just don’t know what he did with those hundreds of T-cogs he now has as a result

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the movie ends with the miners being granted new cogs, not receiving their old ones back. So where are the old ones?

Did he put them in those drone guards of his? Did he smelt them down or destroy them for some amount of Energon within them? Are they just locked away in some basement somewhere? Did he maybe give them to the Quintessons?

Dick's inability to jump in Nightwing.

I’ve loved some of the older Dick Grayson related storylines that I have been reading over the last week, but I am really struggling with the new stuff – I’m just not enjoying the characterizations, the bright art, or the storylines as much in the recent-ish Nightwing comics.  It almost feels like they are water blasting away all the interesting shadows and darkness that have previously existed and creating a much less interesting, bubble gum pop character and world.  Using the ‘Dick can’t jump’ storyline as a bit of an example:

Dick not being able to jump (or, as it really should have been, to fly) had so much potential and it feels that in any other era this would have at least have been explored in a more interesting manner (whether it would have been written WELL is always a bit of a toss-up).  Here it is simply: problem acquired through external means, reason for maintaining issue briefly touched on but not explored in any way, problem fixed.  There are no stakes, no consequences, no fallout, no self-doubt.  You have Dick (potentially) having a panic attack and passing out on a trapeze and it takes all of two or three panels with no follow-up or exploration of what is going on in his mind during that attack.  You have someone who is supposed to be deeply fearful sitting on a cliff edge for – again – all of a couple of panels, before he then describes himself fixed.  No internal monologue, no actually capturing of that escalating fear as it consumes him.  In fact, fear seems to be missing altogether – it comes across far less that he is afraid of jumping and simply that he can’t.

I would have loved to see a more organic build.  Dick makes a mistake that shakes his confidence to the core, or Dick is dealing with vertigo following a head injury.  I’d like the stakes to be raised – being unable to jump has terrifying consequences while out patrolling.  I’d like to see the deepening sense of loss and a greater exploration of what jumping actually is to him (and not because he was a trapeze artist as a child once upon a time because he is so much more than that – this old well gets tiresome).  I’d like him to try to push through because Dick puts everything else before his own wellbeing, absolutely fail and there to be even more terrifying consequences for that.  I’d like to see him spiral downwards towards his lowest point where he starts to question whether he can still do this – and if he can’t, then who is he and where does he fit with others.  I’d like to see the batfamily find out and reflect on what this means for them, and for there to have always been this undercurrent that, while Dick is graceful and powerful and incredible when he leaps, that there has always been that fear of what happens if he doesn’t catch himself in time. I want the metaphor to have actually have been seen through (hell, I would have liked there to have been a metaphor in the first place) – it’s not just the fall that should be the story, it’s who catches him when he does and what happens if he hits the ground?

I wanted the arc to capture the fear, the psychology, Dick spiraling and having to drag himself back up with the help of others.  What we get instead is emotionless, bland, with no stakes and no heart.  Certainly no deepening of the character or lore. 

And! Then!  To rub even more salt into the wounds. What an absolutely terrible waste of what should have been an absolutely iconic moment: Bruce taking on Nightwing’s mantle.  When Dick steps into Batman’s shoes, it’s often because things have become almost broken beyond repair – desperate and dark and with the weight of the world on his shoulders.  Bruce steps into Nightwing’s shoes because he’s off on a mountain somewhere having a bath. This should have been something incredible and defining for both of them. Dick as Batman always has this thick, threatening edge to it.  What impact does the role reversal have on Bruce, as he instead drawn more towards who Dick is? What does Bruce sacrifice - what fears does HE have to face when becoming Nightwing?

As someone who was hoping to get back into fandom, I wouldn’t even know where to start in navigating the stuff I do and don’t like in canon, all spread across different reboots.

Right!  I need a palate cleanser!  Off to reread Operation Friendship Helmet (https://archiveofourown.org/works/56642212/chapters/143977645), which is now officially my comfort fic after spending an entire week consuming way too much Nightwing fan fiction.  This time, I will even try and leave a review that captures why I love it so much vs rambling on about characterizations in canon I’m not enjoying.
