Carmen Sandiego Mini fic: Forgotten

At times, she dreamt of dying. To leave all the pain behind, and forget all the memories she had. She sometimes wondered whether she was doomed to hurt, or doomed to be alone. She never managed to keep people close to her. After all, she either pushes them away, or did something to make them go away of their own. Sometimes, she's the one who leaves, because to leave hurts less than to be left. She knows that all too well.

Her time in prison she spends wallowing in her own past, thinking she could escape the present. It was stupid of her, but the past, no matter how messed up it is, gives her just enough comfort for her to survive the hell hole she is currently in. With no messages, no calls, no letters, and no visitors, she wonders if what people say is true: That nobody will truly love you. She was a fool to think that anyone has got her back. Nobody ever did, and nobody ever will.

For all she knows, she could be in here for an eternity, and nobody on the outside will even notice. Everyone will go on with their lives, and she will remain inside, forgotten. You can lose many people in your life, and Sheena would not mind losing everyone in her life, either. Nobody is waiting for her outside. Nobody. And so she will stay inside, get beaten up and beat up other people like her life depended on it. Like her sanity depended ln it.

She couldn't even keep the person most important to her close, and that is saying a lot about who she is. As she closes her eyes for what she hopes to be the last time, she allowed her first tear in nearly 5 years to drop. If she is going to be stuck in here, possibly die in here, she wants to at least be able to feel once again. Feel all the things she is feeling one last time, before numbness takes over once again.

Nothing will dispell the "the curtains were just blue" myth faster than writing something yourself, because the amount of pretentious symbolism i am putting in my silly little fanfics is ridiculous. I mean SO much with these words, literally every single one of them. This fic has twenty five typos and zero correct uses of punctuation but if there's curtains you bet your ass I put thought into what colour they were.

This is what a community looks like.

See how in 2023 almost all of the reblogs come from the OP, from their few hours/days in the tag search. Meanwhile in 2014 the % of reblogs from OP is insignificant, because most of the reblogs come from the reblogs within the fandom, within the micro-communities formed there. You didn't need to rely on tags, or search, or being featured. Because the community took care of you, made sure to pass the work between themselves and onto their blog and exposed their followers to it. It kept works alive for years.

It's not JUST the reblog/like ratio that causing this issue, it's the type of interaction people have. They're content with scrolling and liking the search engine, instead of actually having a reblogging relationship with other blogs in their community.

Anyways, if you want to see more content you like, the only true way to make it happen is to reblog it. Likes do not forward content in no way but making OP feel nice. Reblogs on the other hand make content eternal. They make it relevant, they make it exist outside of a fickle tumblr search that hardly works on the best of days.

If you want more of something, reblog it.

If it’s helpful at all, my fave aesthetics are Frutiger Aero, Forestcore, Helvetica Aqua Aero, some y2k and scenecore stuff, dreamcore. I have others I just don’t know the names.
