It's pride month, so I think now is a good time to remind all my fellow Queers...
THE REPUBLICANS WANT US ALL DEAD!!
This is not a secret, they are very much open about it, our lives (along with so many others) are very much on the line this election, if trump and the republicans win the presidency-or worse, the presidency and one or both of the houses of congress, WE WILL BE IN DANGER!!
And that's (just one reason) why we need to be voting for not just Joe Biden, but every Democrat in every election, vote blue down the ballot, because if you aren't, if you vote third party, if you don't vote at all, that only helps trump!! We know this!! We already went through this 8 years ago!!
Trump and the republicans want us dead
Biden and the Democrats do not
It's a simple choice
(And anyone commenting/reblogging something to the effect of "Biden/ Democrats don't rEeEeAaAaLlLlYyYy care about us/aren't doing enough, you can fuck right the hell off)

Genuine Question:
Do “you” think wanting people to respect trans people’s pronouns the way they respect cis people pronouns is forcing beliefs on them? Why/not?
Not expecting them to be perfect immediately, but expecting an effort whether or not someone knew the trans person with different pronouns before. Understanding that if they did, it will take time and practice.
Understanding that even if they didn’t, some people tend to assign people a gender and pronouns. (It’s me, I just assign ppl gender when I see them and can’t seem to not 😭, switching myself to using the right set of label(s) can be harder than it should be lmao)

Unpopular opinion: I HATE the term "Glass Closet." Not only for celebrities. I have friends in my vicinity who also qualify. Here is why: Some people just want to exist as queer people; just want to follow their hearts, attractions or however you want to call it and not make a whole political statement about this.
And even a lot of these people in the so-called glass-closets do a lot of work to help and advocate for the community and/or finance LGBTQ+ organizations, or do academic articles or their therapy about queer issues, to make more mundane examples.
Let's pretend I am one of this people and you just met me. Let's say I am talking to you about the women I am dating currently. Would you consider that a glass closet by virtue of me not clarifying I am bisexual? You wouldn't definitely think I am straight, would you?
OK, let's say you know I am single (as I am) and you look at my blog, seeing my articles talking about queer issues... Or heck, my many recent reblogs about Emrata, many pretty NSFW. I doubt you would think this is the blog of a straight woman.
Okay, so I am one person who makes my bisexuality pretty loud, but I know plenty of people in my personal life (online and off) who don't mind others knowing about their sexual orientation or gender identity but don't want to make a huge statement about it. Some have the reason of wanting to be seen as more than their sexual orientation. Some just want to keep their personal life personal. Therefore, I feel that the term "glass closet" is to make them feel guilty for not making a big statement or making it the main part of their identity.
Again, I am telling you my very unpopular opinion.

Ice cold takes from a Transgender Woman:
Men are not inherently Evil
Everyone has the capacity for evil
Transgender Men are men
Transgender Women are women
Excluding Cisgender Men from your spaces requires Transgender Men to out themselves if they want to engage (Same for Women)
Anyone can be Non-Binary, there is no "look" or requirement
Non-binary masculine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces, many are just treated as men and predators
Non-binary feminine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces without being seen as "Woman-Lite"
Edited the wording on the first point because too many terfs keep thinking I'm their friend.

I went to a HS with a lot of gay people, both teachers and students. We had a Gay/Straight alliance club I was a proud member of.
We never ever talked about trans people. I was aware of transgender people bc I had read articles about them, but only binary trans.
I did not graduate before 2000, but I did come close to that time frame.
I had absolutely no idea nonbinary/other gender identities existed until about 4 years ago.
So no, it was as if trans people didn’t exist when I was growing up. Especially nonbinary trans people/identities.
It’s also why I wish there were a lot more resources aimed at adults coming out as trans or figuring out their gender identity bc it can be more complicated when you’re an adult, especially depending on your relationships, your job, if you have kids…. And 99% of the resources are aimed at people 10-25. There’s almost nothing if you’re in your 30s or older.
Hell, I WISH I had known about NB identities when I was younger bc I certainly “knew” I wasn’t binary, but I didn’t realize that was a thing I could be. I would have probably been able to accept myself for who I am much sooner if I had been lucky enough to be exposed to that knowledge sooner in life.

I graduated high school in 99.
There was a student at our school named Wayne.
Wayne was gay. It was obvious. He was unable to stay in the closet even if he wanted to. To make matters worse, he was also Black. From a bullying standpoint, that was not a great combo. Both Black and white students made fun of him relentlessly. He was ostracized from the only community that may have given him protection. Only us theater kids stuck up for him, but not to significant effect.
Wayne was bullied so much that at one point he finally snapped and attacked his bullies with a lunch tray. I was actually seated in perfect line of sight and just sat there chewing my soggy fries in stunned silence. It didn't even seem real as I was witnessing it. The image of him wailing on his main bully as the food on his tray flew off is permanently logged into my long term memory.
The bully he attacked had blood all over his face and went straight to the nurse. Other than superficial cuts, he was not injured.
Before the attack, Wayne went to teachers for help. He went to guidance counselors for help. He went to the principals for help.
He did all of the things you were supposed to do. No one helped him. They wagged a finger at the bullies and warned them to stop.
Wayne's lunch tray melee was the only thing that worked. His bullies stayed far away from him. But a week later Wayne was expelled and the bullies were given no punishment.
So... no.
No one in my school talked about being trans.
Because the only way to survive being openly queer was to bash people with a lunch tray.

State Department’s Passport Suspension: Impacts on Trans Americans In a troubling development for transgender and nonbinary Americans, the State Department has halted the processing of passport applications that seek to update gender markers. For your future information, here are medical innovations younger than both the basics of HRT for trans ppl & the first gender-reassignment/gender-confirmation surgery. I put together this incomplete list earlier today bc I was bored:
all organ transplants
most modern vaccines, including the polio vaccine
the gluten-free diet as a treatment for celiac disease
synthetic insulin
oral contraceptives
MRIs
the concept of a "blood bank"
pacemakers
hydrocortisone
ibuprofen
diazepam
artificial hearts
sumatriptan
naproxen (Aleve)
tramodol
dialysis
ECT
ondansetron (Zofran)
chemotherapy
IVF
CPR
CT scans
transdermal patches
liposuction
intravascular stents
penicillin
In case you run into someone talking about how 'experimental' HRT is.

Not to be too "what about me???" but...
If you are gay, either a gay man or a lesbian woman, and you feel like you'd like to experience or be a different gender that is fine. It's wonderful. You are not betraying the gay community. You are not just confused by your same sex attraction. You are not "taking the easy way out" by changing your gender to "match heterosexual attraction."
In a perfect world the LGBTQ+ community would be united. Anyone who spends time on tumblr knows that infighting exists in the community. If your identity changes that's okay. We are all in this together. Happy Pride Month.
(I hope this is alright @what-even-is-thiss . I just felt that this needed to be expressed.)
The straight girl kinda confused about why liking men feels weird to gay trans man pipeline is real and it's lovely in here
