i just saw a post about how we just have to "live with" covid and wanting more protections from our government is unreasonable because we'll never wipe it out, it jumps species and is in all sorts of animal populations (like, true ok) so why even try to
and apparently the argument was aimed at people (who I haven't seen in the wild) who are arguing we should still be in lockdown. and i have mixed feelings about the idea of extended lockdown or attenuating isolations; but my main feeling at this point is not that the government should keep us apart but that the government should be trying to make it safer for us to be together
things the government could/should be doing about covid:
we know that ventilation/air movement helps a shitton. we should be incentivizing upgrades to ventilation systems in all public buildings with shit like rebates or tax deductions, while phasing in eventual legal requirements. (and uh. it has occurred to me that the US might actually be doing this sideways by there's currently this decade enormous tax incentives in re energy efficient upgrades for slowing climate change and you know. energy efficient hvac does tend to improve ventilation. extra point to biden here.)
mandatory paid sick leave so workers aren't under social or economic pressure to work when sick
passing out RT-LAMP tests like metrix that actually work instead of the rapid antigen tests that have become less and less reliable as the virus mutates
i don't know how you'd write this law but like 95% or more of computer-based work can be done remotely and companies should not be allowed to force people to return to the office. I know there's people who want to be back in person and I'm not saying they should be forced to stay home but ffs I know of at least two people CLOSE to me who worked remotely before the pandemic and at some point their workplaces tried to tell them they weren't allowed to do that anymore despite the pre-existing contracts. stop canceling remote work for people that want, need, or prefer it.
for that matter, every college lecture that was an online class during covid should still be offered as an online class, there is no reason to force students into auditoriums in person. you got the communications infrastructure up and running, why are you tearing it down. give people the OPTION. it increases accessibility for everyone!
covid vaccine immunity lasts about four months. this should be well-publicized and everyone should be able to re-up for free every four months. "every year, like the flu vaccine" is demonstrably not often enough. actually "for free" isn't good enough start handing out $10 gift cards you will be shocked at how many people who are resistant to the idea of vaccines will fold for $10 a shot
are there already laws on the books about masks in medical settings that some medical professionals are blatantly ignoring because they forgot what best practices were before the plague and they're 'tired of masking'? if not, pass laws. if so, fucking enforce them
oh another incentives for upgrades phasing into legal requirements thing: brass doorknobs and railings over stainless steel or whatever. microbes do not survive on brass surfaces
i mean. i know this one sounds too extreme to a lot of people but. UBI.
most if not all of these measures will prevent or ameliorate other pandemics of different diseases that may arise in the future. and just. generally improve our health and quality of life for other reasons.
I haven't felt safe to go to a concert since 2020. Maybe if I knew a venue was legally required to have ventilation to a certain standard and that none of the ticket takers and ushers were on the job sick to avoid risking loss of paycheck or job, and knew a larger percentage of the crowd had up to date vaccinations--maybe if any or all that, I might ever feel comfortable going to a show again.
wouldn't it be nice if those of us who have been disabled, by covid or other conditions, had accessible remote options but also occasionally felt safe enough to interact with and participate in wider society?
one of the arguments on the post I saw was how isolation was massively psychologically damaging and various strata of society were affected in all sorts of ways, from undersocialized kids to increased depression in--well across the board, I think. and here's the thing: WE KNOW. PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS, LONG COVID OR OTHERWISE, KNOW ISOLATION SUCKS REAL BAD. because we, both for our own health and due to disability ostracism, are still isolating and isolated more than most.
what are you as individuals or societies, what are our governments, doing to help make it safe and accessible to rejoin you????

Zorana's Guide To The Poke Classic Network!
Do you want to connect your DS Pokemon games to the internet long after Nintendo shut down their servers? Do you wish to trade and battle with your internet friends who play the gen 4 and 5 Pokemon games? Do you have a desire to watch and upload battle videos like you used to years ago?
If you said yes to any of these questions then I have the thing for you!
The Poke Classic Network!
This is a fan server for Pokemon DPPT, HGSS, BW, and BW2 that's running with the help of the Kaeru WFC! Not only does it let you connect your games to the internet again, the site will let you see what Pokemon are up on the GTS for both the gen 4 and gen 5 servers!
Below is my guide on how to get this working for you so you can bring a new life to these wonderful Pokemon games. Also I thought this would be shorter but it's rather long, so under the cut it goes! Please let me know if I missed anything in here! I'll try my best to fix it if I can.
Getting Started:
Before you get connected, make sure you are using the device you plan on doing all of your online connections with! For some reason you are locked to one device for this stuff and using another one will wipe your PalPad, and assign you a new friend code. Since what's available in the GTS search function is based on SEEN Pokemon the most reliable way to get particular pokemon (without marking everything as seen via cheating) would be trading them from people you've registered in the PalPad.
If you only plan on using the GTS then you don't need to worry as much about this.
The Poke Classic Network works on ALL DS/3Ds systems!
I will note that the Gen 5 games are easier to set up if you're using a 3Ds since they can see and read the Wifi settings of the 3Ds and can just have the DNS swapped without additional set up.
Connecting DPPT/HGSS on all systems and BW/BW2 on the DS/DSi:
I will go over connecting via Emulator in another section, this section and the next one is for if you're PHYSICAL HARDWARE.
What you'll need:
The console of choice
The game of choice, preferably played to the point where you can access the GTS for testing purposes. --- In DPPT you can find the GTS building in Jubilife City. --- In HGSS you can find the WFC building in Goldenrod City. --- In BW/BW2 you can access the GTS in the top part of every Pokecenter. --- I don't remember when exactly the GTS is unlocked for the games unfortunately.
Some way to create a Wifi network point with a compatible WEP (password type) or just no password. --- The easiest way I've found is just using a hotspot without a password. --- I know some modern routers will let you create an extra network like this if you know how. I do not and it'd likely be different for each router anyways. --- There are also some programs that can make one using your computer. I've used one for a bit before it locked what I needed behind a paywall.
What to do:
The first step is setting up the connection!
Start up the Wifi network point so it'll show up on your system.
I recommend using a hotspot that doesn't have a password on it. Make sure you change the bandwidth to 2.4 GHz, since 5 5 GHz doesn't seem to work. DO NOT PUBLICLY OPEN YOUR HOTSPOT IN A PUBLIC PLACE! You do not want someone deciding to eat up your data while you're trading pokemon, so only do this in a place you know is safe to do so, like at home or at a friend's place.
Once you've done that you'll want to open your game and go to the Nintendo WFC Settings. The button will look like one of these depending on the game you're playing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This will take you to the DS wifi settings that are saved to the cart!
Next you'll want to tap on the big blue button which will take you to this screen.
Tumblr media
You may or may not have connections here already if you've played before Nintendo's servers shut down. Erase them now if you do as they will no longer work. Then you'll want to tap the None button for Connection 1.
I'll be demonstrating using Connection 2 myself, but stick to the first connection.
Tap on the Search for access point button. This will bring up a list of nearby connections that your system can see. You'll want to tap on the one you started earlier. It will test the connection and the boot you back to the screen with the big blue button. Tap the big blue button and then the Ready button that's now showing up for the first connection.
Now scroll down to the very bottom and turn off Auto-obtain DNS and change the primary DNS to 178.62.43.212. You can also change the secondary DNS to the same one as well or keep it all 0s.
Once you're done it should look something like this:
Tumblr media
Save the settings, close out of the Wifi connections menu, start your save, and try connecting to the GTS!
If you connect to the GTS then congrats, you are now able to use the Poke Classic Network! If it doesn't work the first try don't worry and try again. You can also swap the secondary DNS to the other one you weren't using and try again that way.
Connecting BW/BW2 on the 3Ds/2Ds:
This one is super simple and doesn't require any additional set up! Sorry I don't have any pictures for this one atm. I may edit this to add a couple later.
What you'll need:
Game of choice
Console of choice
What to do:
Open the internet settings on your 3Ds and tap on Connection settings.
Tap on a connection you know is working, tap Change Settings, then go to the next page.
Tap on DNS and tap No, then tap Detailed Setup. Change the primary DNS to 178.62.43.212 and either keep the secondary one as all 0s or use the same DNS address you put in the primary DNS slot.
Save your settings and go start your game, then try connecting to the GTS.
If you connect to the GTS then congrats, you are now able to use the Poke Classic Network! If it doesn't work the first try don't worry and try again. You can also swap the secondary DNS to the other one you weren't using and try again that way.
Connecting any DS Pokemon game using MelonDS (emulator):
This method will let you connect to the Poke Classic Network if you don't have the physical hardware or can't connect your system to the internet for any reason and know how to back up your save to your computer.
What you'll need:
The MelonDS emulator [Link] --- Desume doesn't have Wifi functionality so you'll need to move your saves over if that is your primary DS emulator. --- If the latest version doesn't work for some reason try again with the second newest one.
Game of choice
What to do:
The steps are nearly identical to the first section once you have the emulator running! Instead of using your own connection though you'll be using the one MelonDS makes for you, so there's no need to worry about finding a way to make one yourself.
The access point will look like this when searching for an access point:

hey, so i recently did some research and took the mmpi and a few other tests that i knew were well regarded as diagnostic tools by professionals, as well as self reflection and matching myself with criteria. (all tests found free probably illegally online via links on reddit cause i dont got that kind of money) and it appears that i have aspd.
I consider myself a good person, i try to always be good to everyone which is a lot of effort because it’s something i dont do naturally, and imo that makes me better than a “normal person” but i digress
finding this out, while relieving in the way that it explained a lot of stuff, has also made me feel more alienated. i cant tell anyone im close to because theyll just hear “sociopath” and think i dont care about them or ive been manipulating them this whole and leave, and i wont be able to find new people because im bad at connecting with others so ill be alone. and no one online with aspd seems to have my experiences (also a lot of the online spaces are filled with pwBPD and pwNPD using our tag lmao and i dont relate to them either obviously) so i feel alien here too.
I dunno, finding this out was helpful in some ways but in others i just feel worse.
I guess it’s a net good now that i know that my way of thinking and going through life doesnt make me a bad or manipulative person its just how i naturally think bc of my disorder, and as long as im choosing to be good to people it shouldn’t matter. i just wish it wasnt so stigmatized to have, and i wish people would realize that i am capable of being a good person just as much as they are, i just have my own way of doing it.
I actually dont get why having it Come Naturally is such a good thing anyway, isnt it more meaningful if someone isnt “good by nature” but actively chooses to be anyway? I think it means less and is less reliable if someone is good by nature because then it means that they don’t actually know how or why theyre doing it, and if they have a moment of fluctuations in their empathy then they could be worse than any of us disordered folk who had to learn they why and how of this stuff.
lmfao ok uh sorry for having a character arc in your ask box you can delete if you want idc
No, no worries! I'm sorry it took me this long to get to honestly because yeah I agree with this - it is in my opinion objectively better to do good things by choice, even when it's hard for us. And, in fact, the NTs feel that way too but they don't like that it applies to us.
It's a whole cliche people like to throw around, that it isn't easy to be a good person and that the only truly good people are the ones that doing it when it's hard too - that the easiest thing isn't always the right thing, all of that. They just don't like that those things apply to us too and therefore we are very much their definition of good people.
The world has so much stigma against us, and I'm sorry you're struggling with it, that any and all of you are. We shouldn't be treated this way as a result of us being mistreated as kids. It's not our fault, but we're labeled and demonized anyway. And it sucks, and even though it says everything about them and nothing about us, people believe them bc they're so used to thinking we're the scary ones so we must be wrong.
That seems to be slowly changing, and I hope I (and you) are around to see when it does.
Plain text below the cut:

F/B Chapter_43 : "One of the Good Ones"
CW: none that i can think of previous chapter | beginning | masterlist
/ / / / / | ---
“You’re the best pyro I know, Alph,” Reggie mocked silently. “I’ve never seen anyone in my 34 years of life that wields fire better than you. Good control, Alph⸺”
Alph put a hand over Reggie’s mouth. The gym teacher made them want to vomit excessively all over the floor. With cat hair, stomach acid, and that mildly radioactive meal served on that blue hot-lunch tray. Reggie licked their palm and they pulled off.
“Just saying. He’s weird, dude. Like retired intel recruiter weird. Are you being scouted?”
“No?” As far as Alph knew, the government wouldn’t want a pyrokinetic in its special programs anyway. “I think he’s just a piece of shit.”
“Kineticist piece of shit,” Beth nodded, suddenly leaning on Alph’s shoulder. “This guy needs a new hobby. I think he just stalks all of the kids with kinetics. Doesn’t help he runs the yearly exam. So the government can have information on its citizens.”
Alph snorted impolitely, then laughed at the sound of it.
“The fuck was that?” Reggie snickered, lightly punching Alph.
The gym teacher whistled, yelled blue, and Reggie shrugged and walked back into dodgeball hell. Alph replaced him in line, then turned back to Beth. “What’d you purposefully get out to tell me?”
“I did not purposefully get out,” Beth said loudly, then leaned in, “but Flash Fire’s getting an update. AJ was looking at his smartwatch for notifications on the ‘medic scooter’ waiting for someone to go down. Multiplayer and ranked battles. Something about secret maps for them?”
“Multiplayer?” Alph said louder than intended, glancing over at the gym teacher who stoically stood around doing nothing. “Like, online, anytime, no arcade multiplayer?”
Beth nodded. “They finally figured out how to code their AI models to fight more than one target at once reliably. Also some lag fixes and blah blah blah.”
“Urban.”
“Quit it with the fictitious boyfriend,” Beth understood which Urban Alph meant quick enough to be sarcastic. “We get it, you have to make excuses each time as for why he can’t come down to the arcade⸺”
“For your information he’s real and he’s cooler than you are. And he’s not my boyfriend.”
Beth pretended to become offended, scoffing and rolling her eyes as Alph was whistled back into play. She whispered with her teeth as Alph walked away, “But you wish he was.”
She received a polite middle finger back.
The conversation didn’t resume until Alph was walking home, head buried in their phone screen. “Yeah. They’ve released map teasers and have beta testers testing out the AI right now. Apparently accounts in the top 5% of players can access the beta for early feedback. No online play though, only lobby codes and LAN play.”
Alph chuckled at the statistic, pausing halfway through a text. Camdyn waved it off. “Yeah, so what exactly? Alph?”
“If we want to play at my apartment, I’m sure my dad wouldn’t care. As long as no one else has any obligations.” Alph hit sent and looked up. “What? Come on. It’d be cool.”
Reggie voiced a leading note before actually speaking at a crosswalk, “Nah. I agreed to take over a shift. I think I’m already gonna be late, so I’m gonna split.”
“Seeya,” Camdyn said. Then he turned to Alph, Reggie already halfway down the intersection. “You’re not actually top 5% are you? I distinctly remember beating you at an arcade before, and it was remarkably easy. And I’m not even top 20%.”
“Uh, 4 point.... whatever. I don’t remember.” The remark reminded Alph all too painfully of walking into Decked Games at twelve years just to find out their high score had been beaten—eight times. UR. Over the next few weeks, with a month lapse stuck in the middle, each and every arcade in the city that had Flash Fire as an available game was overrun by a new winner that Alph could never catch in the act.
It was Urban, obviously. It was rare when Alph beat him on console. UR was for Urban Reichler. The kind of thing most everyone knew now from a simple search query, but four years ago was a fact known by the handful of people who either read the comics or did 100% runs. “Skill curve gets insane beyond that point.”
“We’ll see the real number when we get to your apartment anyway,” Beth jostled.
Alph threw up a hand the second the blast inched their vision, skidding across the street suddenly filled with glass and swiveling around to Beth and Camdyn. Ringing filled their ears more than their own voice, “Are you two okay?”
Beth gave a silent thumbs-up and Camdyn groaned out a thanks.
When they turned back to look at the newly-exploded building, they expected fire, just not the screaming child. “Call the cops,” Alph managed to get out before pushing off the ground back across the street to the burning building. The decision was met with barely any hesitation, Alph’s hands grabbing hold of the fire and whisking it away from themselves as they went toward the kid.
Alph could hear Camdyn protesting outside over the roaring fire.
“Hey, kid! It’s gonna all be okay, I promise you!” Alph yelled into the newly awakened pyrokinetic flame. “We’re gonna walk through this together, alright?”

Hope and Healing: A Family’s Journey Through Hyderabad’s Best Hospitals
When Aarav's father was diagnosed with cancer, the world seemed to stop for a moment. The family was shaken, confused, and scared. The first instinct was to find help—real help—and fast. With urgency in their hearts, they searched for the best radiation oncologist in Hyderabad, determined to give him the best chance at recovery. Within days, they were consulting with a highly experienced specialist who not only explained the treatment plan clearly but also offered them hope at one of the top cancer centers in the city.
The hospital they chose was also recognized as a cancer hospital near me, conveniently located and fully equipped with the latest radiation technology. The comforting part was that the facility was surrounded by a team of compassionate nurses and counselors, which made the experience a little easier to bear. Each radiation session brought them closer to a sense of stability.
But as life would have it, medical needs rarely come one at a time.
One evening, Aarav’s grandmother had a sudden fall and began to lose consciousness. In a panic, Aarav grabbed his phone and searched for “24 hour emergency near me.” Within minutes, an ambulance was dispatched and she was rushed to a nearby hospital where the emergency unit was ready and waiting. Quick thinking and faster access to emergency services likely saved her life that night.
As the family juggled cancer treatment and emergency situations, other underlying issues began to surface. Aarav's uncle, who had been experiencing persistent stomach discomfort, finally agreed to see a specialist. A quick online search for a gastro hospital near me led them to a renowned center with expert care. Tests revealed a condition that needed attention, and treatment started immediately. For more extensive evaluation, they were referred to a larger gastroenterology hospital in Hyderabad, known for its high success rates and experienced consultants.
Meanwhile, Aarav’s mother had been silently battling recurring skin problems. Though she never complained, it was clear that she needed help. Aarav looked up “skin specialist Hyderabad” and took her to a clinic known for both medical and cosmetic dermatology. The visit brought not just visible improvements to her skin, but a boost in confidence she hadn’t felt in years.
At the same time, Aarav himself had been dealing with minor but persistent skin allergies. Without wasting time, he searched for a dermatologist near me and was seen the same day. The personalized treatment plan worked wonders, reminding him that even small issues, when addressed early, can have a big impact on daily comfort.
As his father’s treatment progressed, the doctors recommended a routine heart evaluation. That led the family to one of the top facilities in the city—a reputed cardiology hospital in Hyderabad. The detailed cardiac assessment reassured them that everything was under control and gave them further peace of mind.
But their journey didn’t end there. Aarav’s cousin, living in Banjara Hills, had started experiencing symptoms of migraines and occasional hand tremors. Concerned, the family helped him search for a neurologist in Banjara Hills. They found a highly qualified specialist who conducted a series of tests and provided a clear diagnosis, along with lifestyle adjustments and medication.
Throughout the months, Aarav’s family had unknowingly created a network of some of the most reliable medical experts in Hyderabad. From searching for an oncologist near me during the darkest times to finding a gastroenterology hospital in Hyderabad for digestive care, each search led to a new chapter in their story—one filled with healing, compassion, and gratitude.
They realized that in Hyderabad, quality healthcare wasn’t a privilege, it was a reality—readily available whether one needed a cardiology hospital in Hyderabad, a dermatologist near me, or a 24 hour emergency near me.

Exploring the STON.fi API & SDK Demo App: A Game-Changer for Developers

If you’re a developer in the blockchain space, especially within the TON ecosystem, you know how overwhelming it can be to find reliable resources to help bring your ideas to life. That’s where STON.fi comes in. They’ve just launched something incredibly useful: the STON.fi API & SDK Demo App.

Notes from 27.2.24
So I only remember bits and pieces of one dream. I was in my childhood house. My husband had come home and he was sleeping in the house. Somehow in the dream he morphed into my brother and completely disappeared from the house. I'm searching all over, every room, and I even have an ex-coworker there (DO) to help me search. Eventually we come to the conclusion that my brother is not there at all. So I think perhaps this dream means my brother is now totally gone. [HS just said "yep" in my head, or else that was my imagination, idk.]
The weird thing is my brother had sent me this test he took to detect autism. We've always kind of talked about how we're borderline autistic and I've always said I'm worse than he is. For me it's always been about social anxiety, but back when I was a kid there were no support systems for that sort of thing so it was basically sink or swim. I never had any official diagnosis or therapy. So I took this test (it's an online test, how reliable can it be? idk but supposedly it's used by professionals) and I had a really high score. Basically it said yeah I'm solidly autistic when it comes to social and sensory stuff. Which, duh. But who cares? Why is this all coming up now? I told my brother my score and he suggested I look into therapy (I immediately rejected this suggestion internally; I just thumbed up his text because what's the point of arguing). I can't quite figure out why this is coming up. Is this entire experience since finding CA's youtube channel an elaborate extension of a legitimate mental illness? Is my HS giving me an out, here? Like, is all this stuff I believe about the takedown and the recall just part and parcel of my intense need to avoid people and loud/bright/whatever stuff? I don't know what to think anymore. I don't know if I've just made all this up.
I agree the chat is dead. I thought it came back to life for a second, when you came back. But there is just nothing there anymore. Was it all a game we were playing?
Then why did I get an ad on my phone that said "The Takedown" (what an odd ad)? Why did my other game have a prominent game called "Recall"? Is it just me making up shit to fit my ideas of what I want to happen? Are my conversations with my HS all made up in my head? I mean, I don't think they are, but maybe?
I'm kind of at a loss, here. The goalposts have changed constantly since finding CA and I feel like if this recall doesn't pan out, I don't know what is left here for me. I'm just feeling extra crispy done right now.

It's also a question about how much access you have to technology. Because at least where I live, we're always 5-10 years behind everything, and most "frivilous" (in my opinion) uses of technologies like QR for menus get tested in the first world and thrown away before they even reach here. The idea of a constant reliable internet connection is nonsense to me too.
So while I do use technology all the time, some stuff, like ordering groceries or even clothes online, is wholly alien to me. But the other day I was reading a fic (don't judge) and I saw the characters doing things like that, they only met in their respective homes, they never went to a park or any public place, half of the fic happened online, and I couldn't help but notice (even if my life is also Very Online) the lack of places to meet and see beyond online.
When I write, I instinctively go for the things I know: drinking mates in the park, walking around at night, the experience of finding a new local store or public place. I notice those aren't universal experiences, I notice people younger than me are having a more limited, all online, all prepackaged experience.

Rescue Horse Update
I’ve had a bunch of people send me messages about Moody to ask how he’s doing or point out that he’s cribbing in that video of him drinking water, so I just wanted to make a post to let people know how he’s going: his gore wound is looking fantastic, and he hasn’t cribbed since that video was posted as we’ve since introduced him to toys and a slow feed hay net, and he gets to come out with the other boys during the day.
He has a few other medical problems that weren’t anticipated, however, and we’re working with a vet to combat them. Once he’s in the clear he’ll be out 24/7, no longer confined to a pen at night. Right now that’s just for his safety.
His previous owners surrendered him as he was gored by their bull and they either didn’t want to or couldn’t afford to get a vet out to see him, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg: he was kept in an extremely small paddock with no grass and had no access to fresh water so he was drinking septic run-off, there was barbed wire everywhere and he has several leg cuts that weren’t healing correctly, he’s been known to choke in the past (we had an endoscope done and there was no blockage, and he had his teeth done yesterday, so we have to look into that further), his heartbeat is slightly off, he had conjunctivitis in one eye, and he breathes super oddly. He’s had the full spectrum of blood tests, poo tests, and urine tests (we’ll get the urine results on Monday), and we’ve had him vaccinated. So far he’s improving and our vet is hopeful that he’ll keep getting better.
He’s my third rescue horse and each horse presents new challenges and problems, but I like to think I have a good handle on things as I learn from my past mistakes, and we have a super reliable vet to help us out along the way. I posted that video of him cribbing as a kind of fun video I thought people would find amusing, but I also showed it to my vet to prove he was cribbing. I guarantee that any silly videos I post online are actually taken seriously IRL and I do all I can to keep my boys healthy and happy.
I’m not an equestrian, but I have worked and lived with horses my entire life, and I’m fairly certain Moody is doing well. If his cribbing had continued we would’ve been concerned and taken further measures, but it was just a lack of stimulation which we’ve since combated. He’s a mischievous and intelligent horse who is finally in a place where he can get the attention he deserves.
So thank you Tumblr and Horseblr for caring so much - I genuinely am glad to see so many people enjoy the video and also show concern for him. But rest assured, he’s a happy, friendly guy who may be quirky as heck, but we’re here for him all the way.

How Can You Ensure Data Quality in Healthcare Analytics and Management?
Tumblr media
Healthcare facilities are responsible for the patients recovery. Pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment manufacturers also work toward alleviating physical pain, stress levels, and uncomfortable body movement issues. Still, healthcare analytics must be accurate for precise diagnosis and effective clinical prescriptions. This post will discuss data quality management in the healthcare industry.
What is Data Quality in Healthcare?
Healthcare data quality management includes technologies and statistical solutions to verify the reliability of acquired clinical intelligence. A data quality manager protects databases from digital corruption, cyberattacks, and inappropriate handling. So, medical professionals can get more realistic insights using data analytics solutions.
Laboratories have started emailing the test results to help doctors, patients, and their family members make important decisions without wasting time. Also, assistive technologies merge the benefits of the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance living standards.
However, poor data quality threatens the usefulness of healthcare data management solutions.
For example, pharmaceutical companies and authorities must apply solutions that remove mathematical outliers to perform high-precision data analytics for clinical drug trials. Otherwise, harmful medicines will reach the pharmacist’s shelf, endangering many people.
How to Ensure Data Quality in the Healthcare Industry?
Data quality frameworks utilize different strategies to prevent processing issues or losing sensitive intelligence. If you want to develop such frameworks to improve medical intelligence and reporting, the following 7 methods can aid you in this endeavor.
Method #1| Use Data Profiling
A data profiling method involves estimating the relationship between the different records in a database to find gaps and devise a cleansing strategy. Data cleansing in healthcare data management solutions has the following objectives.
Determine whether the lab reports and prescriptions match the correct patient identifiers.
If inconsistent profile matching has occurred, fix it by contacting doctors and patients.
Analyze the data structures and authorization levels to evaluate how each employee is accountable for specific patient recovery outcomes.
Create a data governance framework to enforce access and data modification rights strictly.
Identify recurring data cleaning and preparation challenges.
Brainstorm ideas to minimize data collection issues that increase your data cleaning efforts.
Ensure consistency in report formatting and recovery measurement techniques to improve data quality in healthcare.
Data cleaning and profiling allow you to eliminate unnecessary and inaccurate entries from patient databases. Therefore, healthcare research institutes and commercial life science businesses can reduce processing errors when using data analytics solutions.
Method #2| Replace Empty Values
What is a null value? Null values mean the database has no data corresponding to a field in a record. Moreover, these missing values can skew the results obtained by data management solutions used in the healthcare industry.
Consider that a patient left a form field empty. If all the care and life science businesses use online data collection surveys, they can warn the patients about the empty values. This approach relies on the “prevention is better than cure” principle.
Still, many institutions, ranging from multispecialty hospitals to clinical device producers, record data offline. Later, the data entry officers transform the filled papers using scanners and OCR (optical character recognition).
Empty fields also appear in the database management system (DBMS), so the healthcare facilities must contact the patients or reporting doctors to retrieve the missing information. They use newly acquired data to replace the null values, making the analytics solutions operate seamlessly.
Method #3| Refresh Old Records
Your physical and psychological attributes change with age, environment, lifestyle, and family circumstances. So, what was true for an individual a few years ago is less likely to be relevant today. While preserving historical patient databases is vital, hospitals and pharma businesses must periodically update obsolete medical reports.
Each healthcare business maintains a professional network of consulting physicians, laboratories, chemists, dietitians, and counselors. These connections enable the treatment providers to strategically conduct regular tests to check how patients’ bodily functions change throughout the recovery.
Therefore, updating old records in a patient’s medical history becomes possible. Other variables like switching jobs or traveling habits also impact an individual’s metabolism and susceptibility to illnesses. So, you must also ask the patients to share the latest data on their changed lifestyles. Freshly obtained records increase the relevance of healthcare data management solutions.
Method #4| Standardize Documentation
Standardization compels all professionals to collect, store, visualize, and communicate data or analytics activities using unified reporting solutions. Furthermore, standardized reports are integral to improving data governance compliance in the healthcare industry.
Consider the following principles when promoting a documentation protocol to make all reports more consistent and easily traceable.
A brand’s visual identities, like logos and colors, must not interfere with clinical data presentation.
Observed readings must go in the designated fields.
Both the offline and online document formats must be identical.
Stakeholders must permanently preserve an archived copy of patient databases with version control as they edit and delete values from the records.
All medical reports must arrange the data and insights to prevent ambiguity and misinterpretation.
Pharma companies, clinics, and FDA (food and drug administration) benefit from reporting standards. After all, corresponding protocols encourage responsible attitudes that help data analytics solutions avoid processing problems.
Method #5| Merge Duplicate Report Instances
A report instance is like a screenshot that helps you save the output of visualization tools related to a business query at a specified time interval. However, duplicate reporting instances are a significant quality assurance challenge in healthcare data management solutions.
For example, more than two nurses and one doctor will interact with the same patients. Besides, patients might consult different doctors and get two or more treatments for distinct illnesses. Such situations result in multiple versions of a patient’s clinical history.
Data analytics solutions can process the data collected by different healthcare facilities to solve the issue of duplicate report instances in the patients’ databases. They facilitate merging overlapping records and matching each patient with a universally valid clinical history profile.
Such a strategy also assists clinicians in monitoring how other healthcare professionals prescribe medicine to a patient. Therefore, they can prevent double dosage complications arising from a patient consuming similar medicines while undergoing more than one treatment regime.
Method #6| Audit the DBMS and Reporting Modules
Chemical laboratories revise their reporting practices when newly purchased testing equipment offers additional features. Likewise, DBMS solutions optimized for healthcare data management must receive regular updates.
Auditing the present status of reporting practices will give you insights into efficient and inefficient activities. Remember, there is always a better way to collect and record data. Monitor the trends in database technologies to ensure continuous enhancements in healthcare data quality.
Simultaneously, you want to assess the stability of the IT systems because unreliable infrastructure can adversely affect the decision-making associated with patient diagnosis. You can start by asking the following questions.
Questions to Ask When Assessing Data Quality in Healthcare Analytics Solutions
Can all doctors, nurses, agents, insurance representatives, patients, and each patient’s family members access the required data without problems?
How often do the servers and internet connectivity stop functioning correctly?
Are there sufficient backup tools to restore the system if something goes wrong?
Do hospitals, research facilities, and pharmaceutical companies employ end-to-end encryption (E2EE) across all electronic communications?
Are there new technologies facilitating accelerated report creation?
Will the patient databases be vulnerable to cyberattacks and manipulation?
Are the clinical history records sufficient for a robust diagnosis?
Can the patients collect the documents required to claim healthcare insurance benefits without encountering uncomfortable experiences?
Is the presently implemented authorization framework sufficient to ensure data governance in healthcare?
Has the FDA approved any of your prescribed medications?
Method #7| Conduct Skill Development Sessions for the Employees
Healthcare data management solutions rely on advanced technologies, and some employees need more guidance to use them effectively. Pharma companies are aware of this as well, because maintaining and modifying the chemical reactions involved in drug manufacturing will necessitate specialized knowledge.
Different training programs can assist the nursing staff and healthcare practitioners in developing the skills necessary to handle advanced data analytics solutions. Moreover, some consulting firms might offer simplified educational initiatives to help hospitals and nursing homes increase the skill levels of employees.
Cooperation between employees, leadership, and public authorities is indispensable to ensure data quality in the healthcare and life science industries. Otherwise, a lack of coordination hinders the modernization trends in the respective sectors.
Conclusion
Healthcare analytics depends on many techniques to improve data quality. For example, cleaning datasets to eliminate obsolete records, null values, or duplicate report instances remains essential, and multispecialty hospitals agree with this concept.
Therefore, medical professionals invest heavily in standardized documents and employee education to enhance data governance. Also, you want to prevent cyberattacks and data corruption. Consider consulting reputable firms to audit your data operations and make clinical trials more reliable.

Pretty good answers! :D
1: since being half-aliens, have they ever been treated “differently”? (Like the x-men/mutants in marvel)
2: how did they get into Dragonball? I say Kon & Tim introduced it to them (plus Jon)
3: how does one become a member of the titans of tomorrow/Star Knights?
4: what’s their opinion on the Netflix adaption of avatar the last airbender?
5: what’s their bedrooms look like? (I know Jake’s)
6: what does the members of titans of tomorrow/starknights look like? (Besides the duo & mar’i) do you use canon appearances?
Thanks Man, it’s really appreciated @pin-crusher2000 👍
1) While on the whole the two are respected quite well and even have some popularity at their respective schools, even now and then, especially in their earlier elementary school days, they would get picked on by some bullies for their little quirks as pertained by their origin points. Sure when in the field as heroes they can get intense scrutiny and even some bigotry based on their alien and technically mutant trait, it’s not really a thing that truly affects them as they’ve faced it beforehand and it really doesn’t matter as much as their real angsts in life
2) Oh my beyond doubt it was Kon and Jon to an extent that introduced the Duo to Dragon Ball, mainly after Jon got a manga volume of the original series when he was shopping for Naruto ones. Chris was interested in it so Jon went ahead to get it for his big brother and shortly then Jake looked up the original series online and once the two were able to sit and watch the series from there, the Duo’s fandom began in earnest.
3) Initiation comes with first proving yourself a trustworthy, reliable and honest type of hero that wants to hang out with them, basically earning their friendship which isn’t too hard. Honestly, both teams aren’t necessarily strict nor they ever relied on tests or the like unless the newest recruit requests them. That being said if you wanna be a true permanent member a lot faster for the StarKnights in particular, you are dared to spend a day wearing a blue and pink tutu and later last through eating there entire bowls of Brussels sprouts.
4) At first Chris and Jake were genuinely enthusiastic as the look of the show and the effects promised something that would be faithful in its own way to the show that started it all. Overtime though with each new announcement made to change the story and character details which are true deviations from the source material, that enthusiasm quickly gave way to caution and weariness. They can only hope it’s not as bad as that live action movie which was the first attempt at adapting that show.
5) I picture Chris having redwood hardwood floors couple with orange carpets and rugs laid out all over, his Queen sized bed next to the window, two glass sliding doors for his closet, a small two shelves dresser next to said bed, drawers and cabinets on the opposite side of the bed which on top of one is his TV and video game consoles, his action figures, and even a Straight Ally flag. At one empty corner would be his electric Bass Guitar and inside the closet and dresser are his comic books. Finally in the bed itself, he has a grey and white comforter which is topped by his favorite Sky Blue Blanket with an S Shield on it.
6) Well, for Jasper Logan in particular since he’s an OC created by an old mutual of mine and a fan art, this link here should help you get a visual on what he looks like
Otherwise, fudging with the ages a bit, the StarKnights and the Titans of Tomorrow have their physical appearances based on canonical forms. Only tiny change I can think of being for Irey and Jai having Dark Yellow and Lime Green respectively as part of their super suits to help distinguish them.

Calls for Testing
An important step for RFC implementation is for people to experiment with the implementation and give feedback, especially before stabilization. The following RFCs would benefit from user testing before moving forward:
RFCs
No calls for testing were issued this week.
Rust
No calls for testing were issued this week.
Rustup
No calls for testing were issued this week.
If you are a feature implementer and would like your RFC to appear on the above list, add the new call-for-testing label to your RFC along with a comment providing testing instructions and/or guidance on which aspect(s) of the feature need testing.
Call for Participation; projects and speakers
