a second chance
pairing: thor odinson x reader
word count: 1,757
request: @clownerlyluv asked - if you write for thor, could do you a fluffy fic about the reader's and his arranged marriage? :))
warnings: thor basically ignoring reader and her feelings at first, choosing jane over reader, asgardian mead, getting drunk
summary: you and thor's arranged marriage does not work out until it does. :)
author's note: I honestly loved this idea and had a lot of fun writing it, so thank you for requesting!
Tumblr media
You had known early on that your father and Allfather Odin did much business together, attending many of his parties and becoming well-versed in the royal life. You were not royal yourself, no, but your family was on the wealthier side of Asgard, and was well-respected. The people of Asgard knew your family name and in turn, you made it a task of yours to at least know everyone in Asgard; they were all so kind and welcoming that you could not help but be respectful in return.
Because of your time spent around the royal family, you had grown to know Allfather Odin and Allmother Frigga sons, Thor and Loki. When you three were kids, you would always cause havoc within the palace, forcing the guards to have an eye on all of you at all times. However, over time, your closeness slowly dissipated and it seemed as though you three were strangers. Oddly so, you and Loki conversed much more when you were older, compared to you and Thor.
Thor had always been arrogant and loud, while Loki was reserved and quiet – which was probably why you two talked more than the other brother. You never disliked Thor, no! If anything, you’d say you have been chasing after him since you were kids, your childhood crush developing into one that caused you to admire Thor every second of every day.
So, when word was passed onto you and Loki about Jane of Midgard, well…your heart broke. You knew Thor never belonged to you, and he most likely never saw you as a potential wife in the future, but knowing that there was another woman, a mortal at that, you knew you had a reason to cry. You had tried to fall in love, to convince your heart to fall for someone else besides the god of Thunder, but it would not budge; you loved Thor, but he did not love you.
And that was the hardest pill you had to swallow when looking at him in front of you, seeming so disinterested, disengaged, that he had an arranged marriage with you.
Did you ever see this coming? No, absolutely not. Marriage to Thor was something you wanted, or at least dreamt of, but not like this – not forced. He clearly was unhappy about his father’s decision to marry you both, and you hated seeing him like this.
You wanted nothing but the best for Thor, but this was not the way to go about it. The vows seemed fake, written by someone else for you both, and the whole occasion within itself was just…awkward. After sealing your marriage, becoming Princess of Asgard, line to the throne after Odin handed over his kingship to Thor, the party began.
Asgardian Mead was tossed around, getting almost everyone drunk except you and Loki – Thor had immediately begun drinking once formalities were over.
Sitting on some stairs before they sunk into the dining hall of the palace, Loki shifted his gaze toward you, “feeling a bit melancholy, are we, Lady Y/N?”
You huffed towards the younger brother, “I am in no mood for your riddles, Loki.”
Loki went quiet for a few seconds before he continued, “would you prefer to talk about it? About all of this?”
You picked at your beautiful dress, skin softly grazing over the design pattern as you seemed more interested in that than anything else, “he doesn’t – nor will he ever – want me as his wife. I am not enough for him.”
Loki grasped your hand from picking at your dress, “my brother is an idiot, and it may take him a while to realize what a beautiful woman he has in front of him. He just needs time to move on from Jane; be patient, Y/N.”
You wished you could smile at Loki, but it was more of a grimace as you squeezed his hand, “I just wish there was something I could do for him, for him to – to love me as a wife, like a queen.”
The younger one nodded, agreeing with you, “and in due time, he will. He just has to use that embarrassingly small brain of his.” At that, the two of you giggled like Asgardian school girls.
Throughout the night, more and more party-goers seemed to feel the effects of the mead and headed home, saying goodbye to their future King and Queen. Your friends had already left, but not without telling you that they were going to spoil their future ruler the next day – that put a smile on your face.
Thor had been loud and boisterous all night, cheering to things that made no sense and yelling gibberish. As the night settled down, you took it upon yourself to bring Thor to your now shared chambers, telling him that there would be more mead tomorrow. With that, he wasted no time slipping your arm into his and making his way down the hall with clumsy footing.
Along the way, Thor and you sort of conversed – his words were so mixed together that you could barely understand what he was saying, but from what you gathered, he was happy. He was happy to see his friends and have a great time, and he was happy to see you dressed up so beautifully, just for him.
That had made a blush form upon your cheeks.
Entering your chambers, you helped Thor undress until he was left in undergarments, comfortable enough for sleep, as you took off the many necklaces his friends had put upon his neck. Once you were finished, he grasped your hand, rubbing it gently.
Your cheeks heated up, “are you alright, Thor?” His eyes grew glossy as he nodded, “I-I am, you looked so, so beautiful tonight, Lady Y/N… the beautifullest Asgardian there, I swear – I swear to you.”
You chuckled, “well, I sure hope so; I am your wife, after all.”
Thor gasped and a shocked expression appeared, “you’re my wife? My queen? Is that why you’re dressed so pretty?”
You ran a hand over his hair as he almost purred at the feeling, “tonight was our wedding, dear. Now get some sleep, it will do you good.”
And sleep did do Thor good as the next day, he remembered nothing of what he said and continued on as if your marriage hadn’t happened.
You knew he was still angry, furious, about the fact that he could not see Jane anymore, yet you knew he asked Heimdall almost every day to see through her, if she was alright. You did not hate her, no, but you hated how much power she had over Thor. You, along with Asgard, needed the future king – but here he was, obsessed with a Midgardian.
This habit of his had continued for weeks and during that time, your therapeutic sessions spent with Loki did you good. At first, much of it was crying and being so heartbroken that Thor just could not stand the fact of being married to you. However, Loki had persuaded you to stand your ground to him, to tell Thor how much this was hurting you, how much he was hurting you.
One night, Thor had come back from his nightly visits to Heimdall to see you standing in the middle of your chambers, arms crossed and an absolute furious – yet hurt – look on your face.
The god of Thunder was speechless, “Lady Y/N, I thought…you were asleep?”
You gritted your teeth before you answered, “I haven’t been sleeping since the first night you visited Heimdall to see Jane, Thor.”
Thor tensed, “how did you-“
You dropped your hands, “I am no idiot, Thor! I am not blind to your utter distaste for this arranged marriage, nor am I blind for your disinterest in me. I know I am not who you want, Thor, I know – but I am trying to make this work! I want this to work, but you are making this so unbelievably hard with your daftness, and of course, being in love with someone else. So please, I am begging you, just please treat me like I mean something to you, like I have at least some value in your life.”
Thor stood silent, eyes dropping to the ground as took in your words. He had been, what his friends say, an absolute asshole, to you; it was unfair and he deserved everything that you said to his face and most likely, behind his back. He lifted his head, “I am…so sorry, Lady Y/N. I have been unfair to you and for that, I apologize.” You sighed in relief, “thank you. And I have to apologize, too – I cannot imagine the heartache you are experiencing with your Midgardian.”
Thor let out a breath, “Heimdall has not allowed me to see her anymore. He believes I am – was – being unfaithful to you.”
Another point to Heimdall for being the best Asgardian ever.
You nodded, “while I wish I could say otherwise, I am somewhat glad of that decision.”
Thor walked towards you, hands reaching out to hold your hands, “I know I have been unfair, and in a way, unfaithful to you, my wife, but allow me to redeem myself?” Tears welled in your eyes but you pushed them away, trying to focus on the moment taking place, “of course, Thor – and I will do better to care for my husband, Asgard’s future king.”
Thor’s hands then moved to your cheeks, thumbs softly grazing your skin before he smiled, leaning down and catching the corner of your lips. You smiled softly, feeling his lips just barely meeting yours before he pulled away, “I do not mind proving myself worthy over time of being able to taste your lips, Lady Y/N.”
You smiled at him before grasping his cheeks in your own hands, brining his lips to yours as you both sighed in happiness and relief. Thor leaned back slightly before kissing you once more, laying kiss after kiss upon your lips as you giggled against his own, “I will never grow tired of that sound, nor the taste of your lips, my queen.”
You kissed Thor before you leaned back on your own, “and I will never grow tired of your compliments, nor your show of affection, my king.”
Thor’s heart raced in excitement and joyfulness as you, a woman that he initially had treated poorly, had given him a second chance; your own smile grew as you gave Thor, a man who had initially treated you poorly, a second chance.

Headcanons for being Jane Foster’s child
Jane Foster x child!reader
Thor Odinson x Foster!child!reader
warnings:
a/n: no not a foster child, jane foster’s child 😌 also im so super glad you liked those!!! hope these are just as good!!! and im genuinely so sorry these took so long
prompt: anonymous: “Hey! I just read the Tony Stark x Potts!child!reader HC and I loved it! Would you do the same but with Thor and Jane? ❤️”
Tumblr media
no babysitter = go to work with mom
dr. selvig gave you a rubik’s cube to keep you entertained
“fuck that! here, y/n, you can play my DS” -darcy
“can you not swear in front of my child?” -jane
you thought tonight would be boring, but then your mom and darcy collectively hit a homeless guy with a car!
“holy crap, we’re all going to jail!” -you
“don’t say ‘crap,’ y/n! we need to get him to a hospital!” -jane
ngl this dude was kinda funky
darcy used her taser and your mom covered your eyes, but you still peaked ;)
ride to the hospital
“don’t touch him, y/n”
“sorry, doc”
and the very next day you guys stole him 💕
“mr. thor, where are you from?”
“i am from asgard! it is much different from this realm, but your’s is adequate, i suppose”
“thanks?”
you could see the way your mom looked at him, though
he ate all the pop tarts >:(
she gave thor her ex boyfriends clothes
“yeah, donald was a real ass—” -you
“don’t say ‘ass.’ darcy curses too much” -jane
“sorry, mom...anyways, donald forgot to pick me up from soccer practice like, a dozen times. he sucked” -you
“this ‘donald’ doesn’t seem like a very good man...also, what is ‘soccer?’” -thor
you grabbed a soccer ball and tried to show him how to play but there was some other stuff the *scientists* had to take care of
you were a regular at izzy’s diner (well, mom was) and they always made you cute pancakes in different shapes!!
“ah, it’s a smiley face! that’s adorable!” -thor
“yeah! they like to surprise me whenever i come in. they’re pretty awesome” -you
*your mom literally beaming at how good thor is with you already*
you and thor were drawing on paper placemats
and then he broke a glass and you started giggling hdhshshs
but he had to leave
“no, thor, please don’t go!”
“i hope to meet you again one day, little one. hopefully fate sees it through”
:((((
no time to be sad bc ur mom’s lab got hijacked by the government
“hey, no fair! that’s my diary!” -you
“sorry, kid. there are constellation drawings we have to observe” -coulson
“aw, you draw constellations? wait, not now. you can’t just take all our stuff. especially that! that belongs to a child!” -jane
“sic ‘em, y/n!” -darcy
“don’t listen to darcy, y/n” -selvig
chilling in the trailer and missing thor bc he was the most interesting thing to happen to you and your mom in a while
and you wanted her to be happy even tho he was kind of crazy
“hey, mom? do you want to watch the stars tonight like we used to do? we could make s’mores?”
“that sounds like a great idea, baby! i’ve gotta go take care of some science stuff, so i’ll pick up some s’mores stuff while i’m out. love you!”
yeah she went to go see thor and he kinda got arrested but your mom came back home so you could watch the stars!
“so, do you like thor?” -you
“what? what makes you say that?” -jane
“it’s cool if you do, i think he’s awesome. a little weird, but at least he’s nice”
then thor and selvig came home and selvig was drunk as a skunk
*poking him while he giggles and tells you about thor*
“i wish your grandfather could have met that guy! he would have loved him...i wish you met your grandfather, too” -selvig
thor inviting you back outside
“i’d like you to teach me more about this ‘soccer’”
by the time you guys were done, it was 3am and you were too pumped to go to sleep
so thor told you stories of his home and battle and family
you didn’t want him to stop, you were fascinated by it all
and uhhhh yeah then earth kinda had some vikings show up
they told you that you’d “make a fine warrior one day”
and then yall got attacked by a ????? a what??? a destroyer???????
“get y/n out of here now! they shouldn’t have to see this!” -thor
you were still nearby and saw thor become thor again
after he was done fighting the destroyer, you ran to give him a hug
“that was awesome! can i hold your hammer?”
“maybe someday, little one”
then you didn’t see him for 2 years
which upset your mom a good bit, you had to help her through that episode. lots of sitting on the couch and eating ice cream together talking about how he wasn’t worth her time even tho you missed him too
but he came back! and then your mom sent everything flying bc she had an “infinity stone” inside her and thor took you two to asgard
“y/n! you’ve grown so much, i almost didn’t recognize you!” -thor
tbh you really digged the outfit they gave you, but also you were on another planet? thor insisted on giving you a tour (by flying you around)
“i do hope you’re having fun, little one!”
worrying about your mom simultaneously bc you overheard she was sick
but asgard got attacked and you and jane were confined to a room in the palace, which sucked because you wanted to see it all
but thor sent guards to bring you anything to keep you entertained
“maybe we’ll skip the mace for now, thank you” -jane
after several events that count as child endangerment, this chapter came to an end and your mom and thor finally made it official
loki called you a rodent and then saved your life so you were kinda iffy about him
about a year or two later, your mom had to travel a great deal in order to get some work done, so you were left in the care of thor, who took you to avengers tower
“oh, my girlfriend’s child is an angel! and they’re so intelligent, just like their mother!” -thor gushing to other partygoers
“yeah, thor, your ‘angel’ is sneaking drinks from the elderly” -tony
*sipping his beer* “they’re a growing teenager”
you did have an amazing time interacting with the avengers
and once they tried grabbing the hammer, you knew you had to get in on it (but you failed like the rest)
“don’t worry, my y/n, you have to be eighteen years of age to be able to lift mjölnir!” -thor
“oh, that makes sense!” -you, while thor aggressively shakes his head at the other avengers. he just wanted to make sure you didn’t feel bad you weren’t worthy yet :(
more child endangerment but really what did you expect?
thor went off world and your mom split it off w him but you did have his email so you were still in contact with him
swearing you saw odin on the street once or twice (fast forward)
and then your mom dusted and thor found you as soon as he possibly could, it was so good to see him
he took you in since you were alone now, you moved to new asgard and became prince(ss) of the new land by relation?? makes sense right
basically you and valkyrie made all the calls while thor grieved for years
but he still took care of you
“y/n, would you like to play video games with me? i think it may be a good bonding experience, what do you say?” -thor
“duh!”
uncle korg made you help him with fortnite while thor was asleep
you wished to wield stormbreaker one day
showing thor earth media! his favorite star wars character is r2-d2 dont ask why
he taught you asgardian recipes and you taught him...earth recipes?
when he was drunk he’d ramble on about his childhood and battle and enemies and jane and loki and hela and frigga and literally anything that came to mind
“y/n, could you please get me a beer? and get one for yourself, too” -thor
valkyrie most definitely gave you some battle training so you you blow off some steam, you were glad she taught you how to fight like a true warrior
thor wanted to teach you battle tactics so you could fight alongside him, but he never got around to it
a raccoon and bruce banner visited later on, proposing a way to get your family back, thor was an emotional wreck
his debriefing on the reality stone was tense when he started crying about your mom and everyone stared at you
“hey, don’t look at me. i don’t control the god, i just keep him company”
ending up waiting 1 second for the avengers to come back from their mission, resulting in you being stuck in the middle of a very heavy battle
“y/n, get out of here!” -thor
“don’t worry, thor! valkyrie taught me a few moves!”
“you make me incredibly proud, little one!”
“i’m not so little anymore, am i?”
“you will always be my little one, y/n. blood or not, that will not change!”
victory, but at what cost? it was a rough ride, you needed to get patched up, but your mom was finally home and thor...he decided it was time to leave earth again
“don’t worry, my y/n. i will see you again.” *tearing up* “i’m so glad i got the pleasure of raising you these past few years. i love you dearly, now go be with your mother”
you straight up wanted to bawl your eyes out right there
“well, y/n, you’re next in line for the throne of new asgard. what is your first command?” -valkyrie
“actually, i think you’d make a much better ruler than me. i’ve got to spend some time with my mother now that she’s home”
“you’re so much like him, you know that?”
staying with your mother, who was diagnosed with cancer not long after returning from the soul stone (a/n: jane getting cancer is canon in the comics and confirmed for thor 4)
“i missed five years of your life and now i’m sick, that’s just our luck, isn’t it?” -jane
she was understandably upset, but she also felt guilty
“mom, don’t beat yourself up. everything is okay, we’re still together right now. i won’t be going anywhere, i promise”

Odin’s Ward ~ Chapter 14
Link to previous part:
https://bonjour-rainycity.tumblr.com/post/638547377817550848/odins-ward-chapter-13
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Word count: 3943
Warnings: Mentions of violence (non-graphic)
True age: Y/n: 1449 // Loki: 1575 // Thor: 1827 // Audunn 3213
Human equivalent age: Y/n: 23 // Loki: 25 // Thor: 29// Audunn: 51
Loki’s POV
“He planted his seeds in my half of the land,” the farmer spits, red in the face with anger. Odin’s expression is calm, but I, as much as this annoys me, know him well enough to tell when he is putting on a facade.
“I should get what’s sown! It’s my land!”
“But they’re my seeds,” the other farmer counters, face equally splotchy.
I sigh deeply, unfathomably bored with these trivial exchanges. It’s the third Thursday of the month, a time when peasants and nobles alike can bring their concerns before the Royal Family. We occupy the throne room, an intricate chair for us each placed in an intimidating line. I sit to my mother’s left, Thor to Odin’s right. A familiar anger boils within me. Of course the Golden Child sits at the King’s right. Not that I want to be any closer to Odin, but Thor’s position clearly communicates his status: he is next in line for the throne. The bitterness builds. Really, was there ever any contest?
Without warning, Farmer One lunges at Farmer Two, knocking him over the head with a sharp punch. I keep my calm exterior, but internally, my interest piques. Maybe this won’t be a completely wasted day after all.
But to my disappointment, four guards quickly put the skirmish to an end. Both men are taken to the dungeons.
Problem solved, I guess.
The interest I felt only seconds ago abandons me as I see a nearly identical pair to the last come forward.
I slouch.
“Stop her!”
The shout, which comes from a guard outside the throne room, is followed by a loud clamoring as armored guards chase after an unknown offender. And although I logically know it’s probably just some widow trying to cut in line, my hand inches towards my mother, ready to take her to safety if need be. Thor stands, putting on quite the show of a dutiful son. I suppress the urge to roll my eyes. Against all odds, the noises don’t subside—they get closer to our location. Mother shoots Odin an alarmed look.
But when the intruder enters the throne room, my stomach drops to my feet.
I straighten, back stiff with tension and I can do nothing but stare on in complete shock. I feel my fingers straining with the grip they have on the throne’s arms, but I barely take notice. All I can notice is the shaking, muddy, tear-stained and windblown woman standing in front of me.
It’s Y/n.
A messy, frightened version of Y/n, to be sure, but it’s still her.
My heart aches with a feeling I thought I had long-ago purged.
Thor is the first to break from the shock and hurries down to Y/n, waving away the guards who have attached themselves to her arms. Noticing her tattered dress and shivering form, he takes off his red cloak and wraps it around her, looking at her with the concern and surprise I’m sure we all wear on our faces.
In a hoarse but firm voice, Y/n addresses us. “May I approach the King?”
In a pinched voice, Odin responds. “You may.”
Y/n curtsies as best as she can and takes two wobbly steps forward. Thor hovers near her uncertainly, obviously wondering if she’s about to collapse.
Y/n gives me a fleeting look and my mouth runs dry.
She turns her attention back to Odin. “I’ve come to request aid from Asgard. Two days ago, my husband raised an army against my father. Since then, the realm has been thrown into chaos. Brother murders brother and citizens switch sides as the tides of the battle change. It’s civil war.” She swallows, finding it difficult to continue. “Casualties are estimated at three thousand so far, but I have been gone for several hours. That number has likely risen.”
Odin has the nerve to sound dubious when he speaks. “And just how did you end up here if the realm is indeed engulfed in chaos as you say?”
Through my shock, I still find room to be annoyed by Odin.
Y/n seems to steel herself and looks him right in the eye. “My husband locked me in the dungeon with others deemed to be a threat to his reign. I believe he would have killed me if it were not that his claim to power dies with me. He’s been so preoccupied with trying to overthrow my father that those loyal to me were able to take advantage and help me and my maidservant escape. It took a long time but we were finally able to sneak through the castle and into the observatory, where we took the Bifrost to Asgard.
Odin purses his lips, seeming unaffected by Y/n’s story. “And this maidservant. Can she corroborate your tale?”
Y/n’s face flushes. “It’s not a tale! Your Highness, people are being slaughtered. Look at my shoes!” She kicks one off and holds it up for us to see. Mother stifles a gasp. Y/n’s shoe is caked with blood. Dark, clotted blood sticks all over the bottom and side of her shoe. Upon further inspection, I see that it continues over her ankles and the lower parts of her dress. “Blood like this is running through the castle halls. I can only hope the fighting is confined to the castle and that the carnage has not yet reached the lower town.” Y/n takes another step forward, stronger this time. “Your Majesty, please. They may live far away, but they are still your people. I fear that if we wait much longer, Audunn will take control and anyone loyal to me or my father will be executed.”
Odin squints, mulling over his options. “My help does not come freely.”
Oh how I hate this man.
Y/n grits her teeth but nods. “Then let us negotiate quickly.”
“Asgard’s army will step in and restore your father to the throne. Your husband and his supporters will be put to death or imprisoned.”
Y/n’s lack of reaction is noticeable.
“Your husband’s death does not trouble you?” Odin’s voice seeps with judgement.
“Audunn has made his choices. He must suffer the consequences.” Knowing Y/n so well allows me to detect the malice in her voice. I stifle a mirthless chuckle. So it seems we’ve both been hardened by the world.
Odin nods. “Very well. Since you will be without a husband and my son is still unmarried, I propose the obvious solution.”
My heart stops.
No.
“You and Thor will wed.”
“Father!” Thor’s explosion is the loudest, but Y/n provides her own objections as well. I swallow mine down, retreating into myself. He will get everything that was ever dear to me. I really shouldn’t be surprised at this point, nor feel the hurt, but still, it stabs deep into my chest. I put a lot of effort towards not letting my pain show.
“Father, you are well aware of my intentions to wed Jane. I love her! Y/n is like a sister to me, I would never consent to be her husband.”
“I will not have the next Queen of Asgard be human!” Odin slams his staff into the ground. “For all I care, you can take Y/n as your wife and keep Jane as your mistress. But make no mistake, Jane will never be your wife, nor will her children be heirs to my throne.”
Odin’s proposal clearly sickens Thor, but Y/n just looks blankly at the ground, noticeably quiet now. The two men continue in their argument, each getting louder than the other with every new point.
“Thor please,” Y/n interjects, her voice breaking on the last word.
Silence rings through the room as all eyes turn to her.
She addresses Thor directly, desperation evident in every inch of her body. “My people are dying. An entire realm will be condemned to slaughter and chaos if we cannot reach an agreement today. I am familiar with a husband who keeps mistresses and am very good at being discrete.”
The heart that I thought had long ago hardened breaks a little.
“I promise our marriage will not interfere with any more aspects of your life than absolutely necessary. We can work out the specifics later but for now, I beg for your cooperation.”
Her earnestness is clear and, with a defeated nod, Thor agrees to make my once lover his wife.
Unable to stand it any longer, I stalk from the room.
Y/n’s POV
Loki strides out of the room, looking bored. That’s it?
It’s not like I expected loud objections and an offer to marry me himself,—it has been over two hundred years and all—but I did expect, at the very least, some recognition. Loki gave no indication that he knew or cared who I was. Even through the shock and exhaustion and fear, hurt still manages to find its way into my heart. I try to shake it off. The task at hand is much more important than my feelings.
“If you are ready, Your Majesty, my people will be eagerly awaiting Asgard’s aid.”
Odin doesn’t look at me. Instead, he gestures to a guard. “Have the warriors gathered and ready within the hour. Thor and I will accompany them to Alfheim.”
Frigga interjects before I can. “What about Loki?”
If he stays in Asgard with me and Frigga, the people might view him as cowardly for not going to fight with the men.
Odin purses his lips unpleasantly. “He has not yet regained my trust.”
What?
Frigga looks away, her mouth set in a hard line. Odin exits the throne room, sparing no one any further glances. As Thor passes me, he gives what I think he hopes is a reassuring smile.
“All will soon be well, Lady Y/n.”
I nod, hoping he’s right. When he’s nearly exited the room, I remember his cloak.
“Wait,” I call, hurrying to him. He drops slightly so I can throw the cloak over his massive shoulders and secure it under his chin. Shame keeps me from looking him in the eyes. After all, if he dies, it will be my fault. I don’t want to marry Thor, but he was a dear friend to me at one point, much like a brother. I don’t want to lose him. “Be safe.”
He nods and gives my shoulder a hesitant squeeze. Then, without another word, he follows Odin out of the room. I can tell it will take him a long time to accept our eventual marriage.
Not like it will be any faster for you.
“Come, sweet Y/n.” Frigga’s voice startles me and pulls me from my thoughts. “I believe you need a hot bath, some supper, and a change of clothes.”
I let out a noise that sounds scarily similar to a heaving sob. “Yes, please.”
{***}
The water is hot and the steam curls the ends of my hair. One servant scrubs the dirt from my nails and another, my back. I sigh, feeling some of the tension finally beginning to leave my body.
Then, comes the guilt.
I’m here in Castle Asgard being pampered by servants, sitting in the company of the Queen, while my people are dying. To distract myself from the strong desire to wallow in guilt and despair, I decide to question Frigga about something that’s been bothering me deeply since my arrival.
“Is Prince Loki alright?” I try to sound casual but don’t quite pull it off. “He seemed…not like himself.”
Frigga exhales heavily, and heartbreak settles in her expression. My stomach clenches in anticipation. Whatever it is, it can’t be good. “It is not really my story to tell…but you have a right to know and I doubt he plans on telling you himself.”
I dare not breathe as I wait for her to continue.
“Odin and I have never been the perfect parents. We’ve made many mistakes over the years, but one has stood out amongst them as the most damaging. And my poor son bore the brunt of the hurt from something that isn’t even his fault.” Frigga takes a moment to fiddle with her hands, not meeting my eyes. “Loki is adopted.”
What? I feel my brows furrow as I try to make sense of this. How is someone just adopted into the monarchy? Royalty is based on blood and marriage, not adoption.
“During the last major war with the Frost Giants, Odin came across a baby. A Frost Giant baby — a son of Laufey, no less.”
I heave a sharp intake of breath. “What?”
She continues, giving me a teary-eyed look. “The baby had magic and unknowingly used its abilities to capture the likeness of an Asgardian child. Odin felt for him and brought him home. You have to understand, Odin and I had been trying for another child for over two hundred years, without success. It had seemed Thor would be our only child, but then the gods dropped this blessing into our laps.” The tears fall then, and she cuts me off as I try to interject with questions. “Because Loki is a blessing, you see. He is my son just as much as Thor is, and I would not trade him for a biological child.” Her voice takes on a desperate, scratchy quality that I’ve never heard from her. “I love Loki. He is my child. And he is part of this family!” Frigga sniffles pitifully and, if I were not naked and soaking with suds and water, I would jump up and hug her. “Unfortunately, Loki does not see it this way. He did not find out the truth from us, but by accident.” A pained look crosses her face. “He thought he was a monster. He still thinks that. And yes, some of his recent actions have been like those of a monster, but I know he isn’t. My poor child is hurting, and he does not know how to handle it.” She takes a steadying breath and turns her eyes to the ceiling. “Odin has essentially sworn Loki off, and Loki has done the same for the rest of us. He still holds some affection for me, but all is lost for his father and brother. He even tried to kill Thor and Jane. Thankfully, the attempt was unsuccessful, but that makes it no less terrifying. It’s a horrible thing to have your sons on opposing sides. After that, Loki—” she shudders violently. “He—he fell off the Bifrost. Well, he was going to fall, and Thor tried to pull him back up, but-but Loki let go.” Her voice breaks and the tears fall freely now.
He…tried to kill himself? I feel a lump rise in my own throat and my breath stops all together. The bath water seems to turn ice cold. My mind races to try and draw the connection between the Loki I knew and the Loki in Frigga’s story.
What happened to him?
“He fell for who knows how long. It was many months before he resurfaced again, though he was not the same person. Not at all. My poor son! He had been brutally tortured and his anger only amplified during his time of isolation.”
I feel my muscles tense and lock into place. Someone tortured Loki? The fury I feel surprises me, scares me even. Never have I wanted to hurt someone like I want to hurt the person who caused Loki pain.
“Loki had grown up his whole life to believe he was destined to be a king. When he realized his true parentage, Loki knew Odin would never allow him to rule.” She frowns. “Odin should not have encouraged him so during his childhood only to rip the possibility away later. But the entity who tortured him—he still won’t tell us who—made Loki believe that he could be king of Midgard. Loki used the Chitarui to attack a Midguardian city and try to force the realm into submission to him. Many people died.”
My heart beats so loudly that I’m sure everyone in the room can hear it. I’m surprised the vibrations aren’t causing waves in my bathwater. As much as I want to cover my ears or run out of the room and denounce Frigga’s words as lies, I can’t. Because no matter how horrifying and outlandish this story sounds, I can’t ignore the fact that the Loki I saw an hour ago was not the same Loki I knew two hundred and fifty years ago. Yes, people change, but not like that. Something really, really awful must have happened to bring about this new Loki.
Frigga continues, sounding weary. “A Midgardian fighting group Thor associates with defeated Loki and the Chitauri. Loki was brought back to Asgard in chains. Odin sentenced him to a five hundred years of imprisonment. There was nothing I could do to lessen the sentence and, of course, Loki has too much pride and hatred for his father to try and lessen it himself. But not long after his imprisonment, the Dark Elves launched an attack on the Nine Realms.”
I furrow my brow. I hadn’t heard of this. How had Alfheim not been aware?
“Loki broke out of prison and aided Thor in the fight against the Dark Elves.” Frigga gives a tearful smile. “Finally, they were on the same side! Loki nearly died in the fight. He protected Jane with his life. Thankfully, Thor was able to bring him back to Asgard in time and the Healers and I saved him with our magic. At mine and Thor’s behest, Odin begrudgingly ended Loki’s imprisonment. We all agreed that Loki’s sacrifice and willingness to protect the Nine Realms atoned for his crimes. I truly thought that was the turning point and that my Loki would be back.”
She sighs, looking at her hands once more. “But Loki is still a changed man. The lies, betrayals, hurt, and anger penetrated too deeply into his soul. Now he is cold, distant, spiteful, and he always wears a mask. No one can ever guess what he is feeling, because he refuses to give any indication of it! I worry he is not letting himself heal. And he is trying to push away the people he loves most.” Her voice softens, and she places a tender hand on my soapy cheek. “Do not be surprised if he does the same to you.”
{***}
Since my most immediate needs have been taken care of, I have ample energy to worry.
My stomach, in a near-constant state of unease since my escape from the dungeons, churns. My mind darts from thought to thought as I try to cope with fears for my people and my father, my anger at Audunn, shock at all I’ve experienced, pain and frustration at my engagement to Thor, and deep, deep hurt for Loki. There’s some anger there, too. Maybe more than some.
I huff.
Definitely more than some.
How could he be so stupid?! Yes, it’s absolutely terrible what he went through, but resorting to realm-domination and murder? Uh-uh. No way. Unacceptable. And the attitude on him! What the Hel is that?
“Ugh!” Some of my frustration leaves me at the spot where my foot kicks the table.
It immediately returns upon registering the pain.
“My Lady, please sit down!” Ragna worries over me, trying to pull me into a plush, high-backed chair. “You have been through so much, you need to rest.”
I scoff, yanking my arm from her grip. “There’s too much going on to allow time for rest, Ragna. And yet there’s nothing I can do about any of it!” I drop my arms to my side, defeated. “I hate that there’s nothing I can do.”
She frowns, unsure of how to help me. It’s then that I notice how tired she looks herself. A deep scratch runs from her temple to her hairline—she got that from a rogue guard when we were escaping Alfheim. She’s been through just as much as you have.
I give her a weak smile, hoping I look reassuring. “You and I both have been through a great ordeal. Please, let me call a servant to show you to your quarters. Take as long as you need to bathe, eat, rest, whatever you need.”
Ragna hesitates, but she’s so tired that she’s swaying on her feet. I nod encouragingly. “Al-alright, My Lady. Thank you.”
“Of course.” I go to the wall and pull on the string that will ring a bell in the Servant’s Quarters. Within minutes, a young serving maid enters the room with a knock and a curtsey. I send Ragna away with instructions not to come back until she is fully fed, cleaned, and rested.
But once I’m alone, the thoughts come racing back. While there’s nothing I can do right now to help Alfheim, there is something I can do to help myself.
I let out a loud, guttural groan, knowing what I have to do.
{***}
I haven’t been in the palace in over three centuries, but little has changed. Queen Frigga insisted I retake my old living quarters, so the path is one I know well.
He doesn’t seem surprised when I bypass a servant and enter his chambers without knocking.
“Leave us.” While my throat feels tight, the command is clear, and the five servants hurry from the room.
Loki doesn’t look up from his book when he says his first words to me in two hundred and fifty years. “Well, that was rude. What a terrible first impression the future queen of Asgard has given them.”
I scoff, crossing my arms, trying not to let the jab at my imminent marriage to Thor hurt me. “You want to talk to me about manners? All you do is scowl and stalk out of rooms.”
He gives an unaffected shrug. “Think what you like.”
The silence weighs on me and I can feel my heartbeat echoing through my body.
“Stand up.”
Now it’s his turn to scoff. “Why? Planning on impaling me with your dagger?”
Tempting. “Stand. Up.”
He sighs but humors me, setting down his book to stand with his arms spread mockingly wide. “Happy?” He fixes me with a hard, emotionless look.
I steel myself and barrel forward, throwing my arms around him in a tight hug.
He stiffens. “Lady Y/n, whatever you hope to achieve—”
“Shut up.” I squeeze tighter, turning my face so my cheek is against his chest. He sighs again and lets his arms hang, refusing to hug me back. I press on, forcing myself to say what I came here to say. “Listen. You’ve done some really bad things and turned yourself into a pretty awful person to be around.” I swallow, trying to keep the emotion out of my voice. “But regardless of where we stand or what is in the past or future, you need to know that I am always on your side. I want you to get better. I don’t want you to feel pain or be sad or hurt or anything bad. But you have got to stop self-sabotaging. You need to let yourself heal. The people who love you can only protect you from so much.”
I push away from him and leave the room without another look.

Pride and Prejudice
TITLE: Pride and Prejudice CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 59 AUTHOR: wolfpawn
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki was raised on Jotunheim as Laufey’s son after the war, but an agreement was then made that he would wed Odin’s daughter so Odin could secure the alliance of Jotunheim through the marriage. Loki, in turn, was raised to be king of Jotunheim, but how he views Asgard is far different from how Odin’s daughter is raised leading to a clash of cultures as well as uncertainty between the pair of betrothed youths.     RATING: Mature   NOTES/WARNINGS: Forced Marriage, not all fun and games. My first real step back into the Loki scene in over a year.

Ella did not want her parents to leave Jotunheim. She loved having her family and friends from Asgard there with her. She used the opportunity to see as many from home as she could through their time on Jotunheim and to spend time with her friends as well as juggle being in court with Loki and also dealing with readying for the baby.
Loki’s vision for their rooms was not vastly different from hers. The most notable thing she noticed was that he wanted to keep her and the baby as defended as possible by altering the location of the bed so that he was more positioned to defend them both if there was reason to. Knowing that it was something of a peace of mind for him, she merely agreed and assisted with her seidr to allow his request to occur. Satisfied, he seemed more settled leaving both soon-to-be parents more at ease with everything to come.
Watching her parents ready to leave, she inhaled deeply and ensured that her emotions were not to the fore. Ever the perfect depiction of a royal, she remained stoic and unemotional.
Thor joked and jested with both Aesir and Jotnar with whom he had grown close to, especially through their shared experience on the battlefield while her parents spoke mostly with other realm royalty.
Odin ensured to find himself alone with Laufey for a few moments.
“I would have thought you would want as little to do with me as possible now that such is no longer required.” The old Jotunn commented as Odin created a chair for himself to sit on beside the Frost Giant.
“Long before we warred, we spoke as two young and often foolish kings. Time has changed many things but I hope one of them is not your ability to converse.”
Laufey sighed. “I ignored that trait for a time and it cost me greatly but I still have it.” He looked over the realm that could be seen from the balcony on which they were sat. below them, Loki was speaking with Grengro, one of the Nidavallir dwarves on a matter. “It is a trait I ensured he exceeded me on and to his credit, he has surpassed anything I ever achieved on the matter, even if he did almost cause destruction with ignoring it as I once did.”
“He is young. Sometimes in youth, we do stupid things. I am only relieved that his came with no cost of life...in the end.” Odin growled as he added the last part, recalling Ella’s ill state when he was called from Asgard due to her ailing health. “Now look at him, speaking to those not even you ventured speaking to.”
“High praise from you of all beings, Allfather.”
“I always said that he would be an able king. Never let that be forgotten. I questioned his suitability to Ella and that worry showed that it had credence when he nearly killed her but nonetheless, both of them persevered in the end, and now look at them. An able king. Jotunheim will know great prosperity once more.”
“And our grandson?” Laufey asked. “One of both of our lines, Norn’s who would have thought such possible after the onslaught of war?”
“Even with the ability of Allsight available to some, it is never truly possible to predict what is to come. Jotunheim and Asgard are bound by blood. In the years yet to come, my son will find himself a wife and with that, have his own heir and our realms shall be ruled by cousins, bound by blood and hopefully comradery with it. It will strengthen them, I would think, but only time will tell.”
“Your wife does not share your hope,” Laufey commented. “Through all of this visit, she has been apprehensive.”
“Look at it as she sees it. Your son almost killed our daughter with neglect, he cast aside our tradition of a Queen standing beside her husband on the throne. I understand that the tradition is different here but Frigga, Vanaheim is stricter than even Asgard on those sorts of protocols and thus far, none of Ella’s traditions seem to be included. I know this is nothing you can control with regards to your son, but see it as my wife does or try at the very least. It is a very peculiar manner in which to do things. Of course, she is apprehensive.”
“And you, Allfather?”
“My opinion on the matter holds little standing.”
“Yet you have one?”
“Opinions are peculiar things. We all have them, they are all indeed valid as they do not have to even be based in fact and truth yet as they are singular to ourselves and in our minds, they all hold credence yet at the same time, they hold none as they are not required for anyone else. I have one but it does not matter, good or bad.” Odin growled his response.
“You may not say the words, Allfather but your eye and face do. You disapprove.”
“My daughter is nothing but an asset to your son. It would have been a simple acknowledgement to her standing to have given her some modicum of recognition.”
Laufey did not press the issue any further. He understood Odin’s thoughts even if he did not agree with the sentiment. The Jotnar and the Aesir were different in many aspects, this was simply one more. Ella’s title meant little. She was the mate of his son, his only one and the mother of the next king so her standing in that manner alone gave her significantly elevated status, giving her a title was not required, in his opinion. “You can control many things on many realms, Allfather but even this is beyond your or indeed my own intervention.”
“There is much yet written but some parts of it are more set in stone than we think.” He looked at Gungnir in his hand as he spoke.
“I often fear what it means when you ramble in manners in which few others understand.” Laufey watched Odin carefully. “What is it that you are planning, Allfather? How does it pertain to my realm?”
“I plan nothing for Jotunheim, it is not my domain in which to do so without due cause and your son gives me none but change is indeed afoot here.”
“How so?”
“That, it would seem, will be revealed to us all in the near future.”
Laufey knew he would not get a clear answer, so he said nothing more, hoping that whatever the Allfather had planned, it did not bode ill for Jotunheim.
*
“Ella?” She looked around at her mate. “I fear I need to tell you…”
“They’re leaving.”
Loki looked sadly at his mate. In the days that her close friends had been present, as well as her birth family, her mood was far more cheerful. Usually, her demeanour was a pleasant one, especially since everything was smoothed out between them but it paled in comparison to the mood that she had when her two realms were all but one. Seeing her face go from one of curious intrigue as to why her mate was calling her to one of heartbreak at realising what was to come, he knew she was suffering and felt sorry for her. “I am afraid so, yes.”
Swallowing harshly and with her nostrils flaring as not to allow herself to cry, Ella nodded and rose to her feet. “Very well.” Her voice was small and cracked with the sound of her sadness. “I guess we better go see them off then.” Using her seidr, she altered her clothing and went from a comfortable and loose-fitting dress to one more in keeping with her position. “Shall we?”
“I’m sorry.”
Loki’s apology caused Ella to frown. “Why?”
“Because this is hurting you in a small manner and I wish it did not.”
“Well, it is not your doing but thank you for the sentiment.”
She walked out of the room without saying anything more, Loki followed soon after.
The Aesir were the last group to leave Jotunheim. Those not overly fond of the realm but felt obliged to be there for the coronation were the first to leave, soon after, Prince Nigel found himself very much rushing to return to Vanaheim and not long after that, all but the Aesir had departed the realm.
Standing in front of her parents, having said goodbye to her friends, Ella forced herself to remain stoic, knowing that using a clone to bid farewell was not the right thing to do, even if she wished she could.
“Do not fret, Mother.” Ella found herself rolling her eyes as Frigga looked at her worriedly.
“I do not envisage seeing my daughter again before the labours of childbirth, do not tell me not to fret,” Frigga argued. “If you need a healer for anything, do not hesitate to have Heimdall inform us and one shall be here, is that understood?”
“Mother, women have birthed safely in caves, I think I can handle this.” Frigga’s worried face caused Ella to internally curse her mother’s lack of faith in her. “But of course, if there is an issue, I will be sure to call upon Eir. I have no plans to die in childbirth.”
“None tend to plan to do so, yet many have.”
“Mother, I rather not consider such things. I will continue to speak to you in our usual manner through everything.” Ella found herself wishing that her mother would leave the matter to rest.
“We shall. Until then.” Frigga curtsied to Ella who returned the gesture in kind.
Thor simply gave a wave and shouted to demand he be told when his nephew was born, if only to begin bestowing gifts that were entirely unsuitable to him, such as weaponry. Ella soothed Loki’s worries by stating that Thor was merely jesting, though secretly, she suspected he was not entirely convinced herself that he was not.
Then came Odin, who walked up to the pair and watched as they stood straight and waited for his parting words as they had done her mother’s.
Odin started by looking at Loki. “You have, thus far, kept your word to better tend to my daughter. Now, more than ever, you need to not only keep your previous promise to me but uphold it even more as she gives you a son. Give the same diligence you give to that to your realm also as its king.”
“I shall,” Loki swore.
Odin nodded, satisfied that he meant it. He then looked at Ella. “And you, keep your…”
“Mouth shut and ears open.” She smiled.
“You would have made a terrifying Queen. Perhaps it is for the best that you remain in the wings, listening, out of their line of sight so that you can better scheme.”
“I do not need such a title to be terrifying, Father.”
“No, you do not. You have held that accolade without such until now, but after today, I fear they will be even more worried as to your silence.”
Ella frowned at her father’s peculiar words. “I do not…” She was stunned into silence as Odin moved his hand forward, Gungnir in its grasp. For another moment, Ella stood in silent shock before her own hand went out slightly. “No.” She pulled her hand back. “Why?”
“I fear the inevitable has occurred. Gungnir no longer is faithful to me. She yearns for her new wielder, of which, I am not.”
“But I…”
“Take it.”
Ella did as her father commanded and placed her hand on the staff. As soon as she did so, she felt a surge of energy flow through it to her. “It never did that before.”
“No but yet it does now.” Odin, whose hand was also on the staff felt the energy flow through it before relinquishing his hold on it. “I suspect there is a valid reason for such.”
“What…?”
“The staff is not even reacting to your seidr, I would think.”
Loki, who had been standing next to both of them in stunned silent until that point, looked at Odin with even more bewilderment at that statement. “Then who…?”
Ella looked at her stomach. “Him.”
“The…” Loki could not process what he was hearing. “Could a Jotnar…?”
“It requires a strong seidr wielder to control Gungnir. Ella can do so with ease. She never needed a way to focus her power, she does not need it to do her bidding, she is powerful even without it. But my Grandson, his seidr will not be as strong as hers, but with Gungnir, he will rule Jotunheim with more power than any king before him.”
Loki felt a surge of both pride and fear at such a thought. He thought of his son, the future of Jotunheim with enough power to defend the realm from almost any foe. “But what of Asgard? Surely you would want…?”
Odin chuckled. “Asgard is not without its defences. Also, Thor wields Mjolnir. Because he does so, he could never wish to command Gungnir. It would rot in the weapons vault after my ascension to Valhalla. But that is irrelevant. It has already decided. I am too old and weak to wield her fully now. Now it is time for it to go to its next wielder. Ella will use it until the boy is crowned, then he will become its wielder.”
Odin’s words were clear to comprehend for all those present. Any who thought that Loki was to be a weak king were realising quickly that none before him would have been as strong and the one after would be stronger still.
“I guess that this will assist in stopping his seidr from surging too greatly.” Ella quibbed before looking at her father worriedly. “But it has been aiding you, what will you do?”
“Grow old, weak and feeble like every man before me,” Odin commented. “As is the way of life. I have no intentions of living forever. My time is coming to an end. I am not gone yet but I think it is obvious, I need to accept my mortality, something I ignored for too long.” He nodded to himself. “Now, rule this realm as it deserves to be. I await the news of my grandson’s arrival and for the love of the Norns, don’t give him some foolish Midgardian-esque name.” Odin ordered as he walked back towards Frigga who was looking at her husband worriedly, wondering how he would do without Gungnir to lean against when he was weak.
“Why would we choose a Midgardian?” Ella scoffed.
“Because beings these days love using names from places they are not from, misspelling and mispronouncing them and not knowing their meaning, Migardians especially. At least know the meaning of the damn thing.” Odin growled as he spoke.
Ella watched worriedly as he made his way slowing back to Frigga. With Gungnir’s power very much connected to hers, she used it to create a walking stick of sorts for her father who looked at it then at her with a small nod in thanks before going to the Bifrost site to be with his wife. “Goodbye.” Ella mouthed the words but no sound came out as her parents, family and friends were surrounded by roaring lights and a moment later, disappeared.
When silence came to the realm again. Singed ice and ground melted into the shape of the Bifrost in front of her, Ella felt the gaze of all the Jotnar around her upon her and on Gungnir in her grasp. Without thinking, she toyed with it in her fingers in the exact manner her father was prone to doing. Looking at Loki, who seemed just as startled by events as she was, she simply looked back towards the Jotnar palace once more before walking towards it, feeling as though Gungnir being in her grasp was entirely foreign but also incredibly natural to her as she did so.

Reader X Frigga ~ Affair
I knocked on the glorious golden door and kneeled waiting for the queen to come out. As the door opened, I looked up to her eyes. "My queen!" I placed my hand over my heart and waited for her orders. "You can stand up Hades, Odin is not here." She said sadly. "I will always respect my queen!" I could see a gentle smile form on her lips for a moment, but she felt really sad. "My queen, I know I am not allowed to use my magic on you, but I cannot but feel you are sad. Should I do something about it?" I stood up looking into her beautiful eyes. "Hades, always so careful! But I will be fine, don't worry about me. We shall get ready. Today I have to help the people!" The queen is very strong and I really appreciate that but I hope she isn't suffering; she is way too precious to be hurt by anyone.
I followed her to the attending room where the people lined up, every one of them to speak up. I stood by her side the whole day, as always. She had a smile on for every single person, even though there were almost one hundred people in line. In the afternoon, after she had lunch, I escorted her to the gardens where she likes to spend some time by herself and relax. This was her small heaven. "Hades, you've been strangely quiet today." I stopped on my tracks and sighed. "Apologies my queen! It is just that, your sadness concerns me. I know I shouldn't worry, but I cannot but notice the sorrow in your eyes. I can't stand seeing you sad." I finished softly and when I looked up to Frigga, I've noticed her teary eyes. "I do not want you to worry boy. My mind is in another place right now. The king, my husband, is away most of the times and I try my best to be the best wife for him." I could feel the tremble in her voice. "My queen, is the king hurting you?" I didn't know my voice would just turn low and almost came out as a growl. "No, no, it is not that. I just feel lonely now. I shall go and prepare for the magic lessons with my sons." I looked down, away from her eyes, ashamed. I quickly kneeled in front of her, with my hand over my heart. "Apologies my queen!" All I could see was her dress gently caressing the grass, coming towards me. "Come on, is alright. Let's go before we get too late." I stood up and followed her.
After getting into the library to get some books that I offered to carry, we walked to the training grounds that were now empty. The two princes were fooling around in the dirt, fighting each other. "Boys, please! Stop that, please!" Frigga was trying not to raise her voice or lose her calm. "My queen, if I may, please cover your ears." I gave her a gentle smile before I used my fingers and whistle loud enough to catch the boys attention. "Thank you, Hades!" I watched as she talked with the boys. Even though only Thor was her son, she never made any discrimination in between the two of them. Few knew about prince Loki being a frost giant. But for her, she was her son. I didn't know I was starring at them with a smile until I made eye contact with her. "Hades, please, hand me the red book." I looked through the books in my hands and picked out the red one and levitate it towards her hands. "Yes, my queen!" I must've been blushing because she let out a soft giggle.
I watched the three of them as they were practicing their magic. Today, Thor was dismissed earlier because of his friends that wanted to go to the city. "Don't be sad Loki! One day you will have your own friends you can do activities with. Always remember that you are not alone!" I watched as she consoled the poor kid. "My queen, perhaps, we can send the young prince to start learning how to ride? There are plenty of people and young fellas around the stables he can interact with. And if that doesn't come out successfully, there are also the animals that can always become a good company!" I watched her smile grow. "That is a good idea Hades, we shall go there now! Come on Loki, you will love that place!" She spoke softly as the three of us walked to the stables. On our way there, a maid was assigned to deliver the books that I was holding, back to the library.
Once we arrived at the stables, the queen asked me to show her the available horses. I walked to the back of the building to show them the young stallions and mares that are at the right age to be trained. "These horses right here just turned 5 years old and they are available to be taken by anyone and train them. They don't have names yet, so the owner can decide better. There are also foals and some pregnant mares that are expecting babies." I showed the young prince his way around the foals' place. He looked around and laid his eyes upon a light gray foal. "That one looks really nice!" The horse, wasn't one special. It didn't have wings like a Pegasus, not it was a magic unicorn. But it was a superhorse. "Can I spend time with it since it was this young?" The young prince asked looking up at me. "Yes, of course! You can create a bond with it and play with it, but not ride it just yet." The little foal stood up and Loki could see it's eight legs. "Is it a boy or a girl?" I walked around to get a better look of the foal through all the horses. "It is a boy!" I smiled and enjoyed his happiness. He jumped in with the babies and started petting it. "Thank you, Hades!" I looked to my side to see the queen, smiling happily, and for a moment I didn't feel her sadness so powerful into her thoughts. "Loki, sweety, I must attend other places. Will you be alright on your own here?" She asked her son. "Yes momma!"
We left the stables and went to her office where she could read declarations and leave notes for Odin. Her personal touch was important for the people. After that, we would walk into the rose garden where she could relax her mind and thoughts. I was always there, next to her, for her protection and quick care if anything happened. "The stars are so nice tonight." I didn't even glance away from her, admiring the reflection of the small stars in her eyes. "Yes, they are." She started walking again and I followed shortly behind. "You know, sometimes I wonder, what is going on through your mind when you are silent like that. Perhaps, sometimes I shall sneak in." I smirked and got a flower to place it in her hair. "My queen, I must say that what you want to try, will be very dangerous!" I purred and gently caress my thumb over her cheek before realizing what I was doing and quickly stepped back. "I'm sorry, my queen!" I saw her wide smile the first time in a long while. "Don't worry Hades! Truth to be told, I've been craving a caring touch for such a long time as well. I guess you can say you've been lucky since no one saw anything." She walked further towards the fountain and looked at the water. "A long time ago, I read about the frost giants, that they can change their form. They access your memories and see a specific person important to you. Then, they adjust to look alike like them. Loki starts looking like you, dark long hair, strong features... I hope no one notices that." I watched as she sat down on the fountain edge and play with her fingers in the water. "Am I the special person in your mind, my queen?" I kneeled in front of her. "You, my dear, are the forbidden fruit." I gently held her hand before she could cup my face and kiss it. "My queen, despite of my feelings for your highness, I could never betray the throne like that!"
"Could you never? Really?" She looked me straight in the eyes and I shook my head. "No, I am sorry my queen!" She gently pulled her hand back. "Let me see, what your heart desires! At least let me have that." I blushed as I looked up at her. "I don't think that would be a great idea, my queen. I am a man and my desires are not to be shown to a delicate lady such as you!" She gently patted the spot next to her and I got up to sit next to her on the fountain edge. "Please, call me by my name!" She whispered. "Frigga..." I whispered and kissed her hand. "Let me wonder your mind, my knight!" I was about to let her do so when a bush rustle disturbed the silence and I jumped up with my sword out and ready.
"Mom? We are waiting for you at the dinner table." I relaxed and put my sword back when I noticed Loki walking out of the bushes. "Thank you, Loki, I'll be right there!" The young prince left and the queen giggled softly. "Now, that would have been an awkward situation!" She smiled and we walked to the dining room. I stood by her side the whole time. She was sitting at the head of the table next to an empty chair that was designated for the king. Next to her, the two princes were eating, each in their own specific way, and the people were having fun. Some were talking loudly, some were laughing, some were silent and romantic, some got up and started dancing. "Boys, why don't you go out there and find a dance partner?" Frigga suggested. I could feel her sadden up. She wishes to dance as well, but as a knight and in front of people, I cannot fulfil her desires. "I will go ask Sif if she wants to dance!" Prince Thor quickly sat up and run through the crowd. "Don't worry Loki, one day you will meet the perfect girl only for you!" Frigga smiled encouraging her son. "Or you can make one yourself with magic." I mumbled playfully. Both of them looked up at me. "Of course, there are consequences, it might not come out right or what you wished for might be the only quality and no other quality might be able to evolve and so on. You must be well trained in magic and surpass your teachers!" I encouraged the young prince. "Alright you two, don't burn the palace down!" Frigga said giggling. "I will head back to my chambers. Please don't stay up late!" The queen said before we both walked to the chambers. "My queen, is there something I can do for you?" I heard her sigh and look around. "Please teleport us to my chambers." I held her hands and did as I was told but instead of teleporting inside the room, I teleported us in the deep part of the flower garden. "Where are we?" She was a little startled but I made some dim lights appear and shine on us. "I just felt like I had to do this, my queen!" I let go of her hands and my outfit changed, from my armor into a black suit. I used my magic to play some music and then court my queen. "May I have this dance?" I offered her my hand and she gladly accepted it, blushing slightly. I gently, pulled her close to my chest, and run my left hand around her waist. I looked her deep into the eyes and slowly move to the rhythm of the music. She was so happy to have someone dance her. I smirked and whispered to her ear. "Let me guide you Frigga!" I knew how my words affected her and I wanted to take advantage of that. And so, I changed the music into something more allegro and dance with her, spin her around and finish with her leaned back over my arm, with me slightly topping her. I pulled her back up and let her catch her breath. "Are you alright?" I asked her softly. "Yes! I missed dancing so much! Thank you!" I smiled and notice how she solely run her hands around my neck to pull me down. "My queen?" She got higher on her tip-toes. "Shh, let me guide you!" She whispered before she closed her eyes. I gave in and closed my eyes, embraced her sides with my palms, leaning in to kiss her softly.
I opened my eyes to meet hers. "My queen, I am so sorry- I shouldn't have done such-" She cut me off with another kiss, this time deeper, more passionate. I pulled her closer to me and run my arms around her to fuse out mouths together in a lustful kiss. My mind was in alert, warning me, begging me to stop, step back and run to safety, but my heart was holding me there, to her, imploring me not to run, to comfort my queen, to make her happy because I was happy as well when I was pleasing her. I must control myself because with every kiss I became more and more aroused, my body want more. As I heard her soft moan, I lost my concentration. The lights run out and she gasped breaking the kiss. I removed my hand from her waist and light a flame in my palm. "It is alright my queen! You are safe!" I smiled and watch as she cuddled tight to my chest. I could feel her getting cold so I took off my jacket and put it on her. "We should get back." I suggested. She nodded and held onto my arm. "Let's walk there!" I nodded and walked with her back inside the palace. She was holding onto my arm and looking down. Before the guards could see us, I've changed back into my armor and my jacket changed into a blanket. Before we could even step into the palace, the two princes came running towards us. "Mom! Are you alright?" Frigga looked at them confused. "Yes. What happened?" I looked at Loki to explain to us what happened. "Someone devastated your chambers and we thought you were attacked when a maid walked in but didn't see you." Frigga straightened her posture and smiled. "It's alright boys. It was my fault; I was looking for something and then |I didn't call a maid to help me clean up. It happens to a queen sometimes as well!" Everyone calmed down and I walked Frigga to her room. I closed her door and was about to walk to my room when Loki appeared in front of me with his hands behind his back and a stern look on his face. "Yes, my prince?" He glared at me, keeping his cool. "I can sense some tension whenever you are with my mom. But, if you try to hurt her in any way, I will stab you!" My eyes widen and I smiled proudly. "What about this. I will give you the answer of your questions and you will do your best!" He was confused but I used my magic to make a book appear. "Page 78, spell number 576. Learn that and use it on me, I volunteer. This spell will answer to your questions. And don't tell anyone I handed you this book!" I winked and he didn't know how to react. He was confused about my behavior but also happy that I am helping him advance in magic. I placed a hand on his shoulder. "My prince, you can trust me! I will never do any harm on you, your brother or your mother!" He nodded understandingly. "What about my dad? Your king!" He looked at me suspiciously again. "Yeah, about that. You will have to grow older to understand that." I winked at him. "But I am old enough now! And I understand the guard's rules!" I chuckled. "Alright. I will explain it to you tomorrow. Go to bed my prince, it is getting late!" He pouted but left holding the book to his chest. I bet he will not sleep until he will perform the spell. I smiled for myself before I went to bed.
In the morning I woke up early as usual and got ready for the day. I had a maid drop me some clothes for the queen because she was in a hurry. I went to her chambers and make a rose appear on top of the clothes before I knocked on her door. "My queen! I've received your wardrobe for today!" I heard footsteps behind the door and once it opened, I saw her, still in her night dress, with her hair falling straight on her shoulders. "Thank you, Hades! I'll be out in a few minutes!" She smiled. "Yes, my queen!" I stepped back and let her close the door as I waited for her to come out. Meanwhile, I've noticed prince Loki, walking towards me with a sleepless look on his face. "So, you have learned the spell!" I smiled. "Yes! And I will do it on you now!" He was barely able to talk and he was about to fall when I caught him. "Alright boy, time for bed!" I picked him up and teleported him back to his room to lay him in bed. I opened the window slightly so he would have some fresh air and cover him up. "Test the spell on me when you wake up!" I whispered before I teleported back to my queen that was looking for me. "Where did you go?" I smiled and shrugged innocently. "You gave Loki another spell, am I right?" I chuckled slightly and nodded. "Forgive me, my queen, but the boy is craving knowledge." She gave me a gentle smile and shook her head. "Well, I know another handsome man that has the same hunger!" I raised my eyebrows and put my hands on my swords. "Where is this man? Shall I kill him!" I smirked when she started giggling. "You are so silly!" I relaxed my position and followed her to her work.
Today she filled her whole day with the people, trying to help them in the best way. She finished only in the late afternoon when we went to eat. She was a little low headed but after eating, she felt better. After that, we walked to the training field, where the two princes were waiting for us. "Mom, you are late!" Thor said like a grumpy teenager. I cleared my throat and smirked. "A queen is never late! Everyone else is simply too early!" I looked down on him and he calmed back down. "Thank you, Hades! And since you, young man, are so eager, let's go and practice your spells!" Frigga walked to the middle of the field with Thor while I waited for Loki to reach me. "How many pieces of furniture did you feel?" I said softly to Loki. "Most of them were in my room, the throne room and a maid that was done with Thor's needs." I chuckled. "Alright then, I will also help you, I'll give you more time, you will be able to read me like an open book!" I took a deep breath and held out my hand, my palm facing the ground. Loki closed his eyes and placed his hands on my hand. I could feel his magic crawl in my mind and I just looked at Frigga and let him in. It took him quite a little while before he finished and remained silent. "You like my mother?" I smiled and put a finger over my lips. "Does she know?" I nodded and walked a little far from the training field so no one heard him, even if he whispers. "Is this why you don't like dad?" I looked at him again and sigh. "Do the spell again!" I held out my hand for him and he did it again. This time I closed my eyes and made sure I am showing him an accurate image of what is happening. When I was done, he was confused. "I told you, you will understand this when you will grow up. Or after you get a girlfriend and catch a slight idea of how they think and feel." I winked and looked back at Frigga and Thor to make sure they are okay. "Are you sure you want to betray the throne for some affair?" I took a moment to think about it. "For me, it is important to only please my queen! I am her knight! But I just couldn't stop falling in love with her. I know what I do is wrong and I know I am in a dangerous place, but I will stand my ground till the end of the line and protect her until my last breath! You might be a little too young to understand some things, but those feelings that you've felt from me, will fire up whenever you will feel the same and only then you will understand." I looked down at him. "You used magic on me?! You are not allowed to!" I shook my head. "Guards are not allowed to. But you know I am not lying." Another silent moment had passed until Loki spoke up. "What if someone finds out and tells the king?" I sighed and looked down. "I will assume my actions and let him take my head! But I will also lie." I smiled slightly. "Lie? Why?" Loki stepped in front of me. "I will lie to protect my queen! I will take all the fault on me, I will say it was all me, and so she will be safe." I felt Loki touch me again and as I looked down at him, I noticed tears crowding into his eyes. "You know well enough what might happen to you, why don't you run? Hide? Do something?!" I looked back up at Frigga in the sun shine and smiled. "I chose not to be a coward. I want to fight for her and make her happy. She loves Odin, but she feels lonely. And I want to be her friend, but what happened last night... That surely will be the hardest part. I don't know what she is feeling or what was she thinking but I am ready to accept if she decides it was only a mistake and it will never happen again." I straightened my back and blinked back the tears in my eyes. Loki was about to use the spell again when I grabbed his wrist and looked at him. He noticed the look I gave him and took a step back.
When the magic training was over for the two princes, I lead my queen to the dining table where she ate and then walk to the gardens. "Did Loki perform the spell right?" Frigga asked as she sat on the bench in front of the fountains. "Yes." I stood behind the bench looking at the water. "Did he try it on you too?" She looked up at me. "Yes." I heard rustling and I was ready to pull out my sword when I noticed the prince. "Prince!" I put the sword back. "Mother! We must talk!" He had a stern look on his face and I tilted my head. He sat next to the queen and showed her his hands. "Mother, I just found out that tomorrow father is coming back. I thought you must know. It was supposed to be a surprise but judging by the circumstances, I thought it would be better if you two knew." Frigga smiled and cupped his face in her palm. "Thank you, son!" He cleared his throat and stood up straightening his jacket. "I should leave you two alone, I guess." I frowned and smirked. "You also used the knowledge stealing spell on me?" His eyes widen and he froze. "No?" I chuckled with Frigga and pat his shoulder. "You little mischief! If you weren't the prince, I would have thrown you into the fountain for doing such bad thing!" He crossed his arms to his chest. "You wouldn't!" I looked at Frigga and she smiled and nodded. "Go on! It surely is easier than grounding him!" She giggled when she saw Loki's face. I picked him up and run with him to the fountain where I dropped him. "Did you steal knowledge for what to do in this case? I bet not!" I chuckled and he stood up grumpily. "Oh, I will have my revenge knight!" I pulled him out of the fountain and make a blanket appear. "One, you can call me Hades. Two, do your best!" I smirked challenging him. "Okay boys! Loki, please go inside before you catch a cold! And you, mister, I want you to take my dress for tomorrow and take it to the maids to get it ready!" Loki rolled his eyes and teleported away. "Yes, my queen!" We walked back to her chambers and I waited at the door for her to hand me the dress. "Come back after!" She whispered and winked. I froze in place for a second before I nodded. "Yes, my queen!" I walked to the maid's room and hand them the dress, telling them to have it ready for tomorrow morning and then I walked back to the queen. I made sure the hall was empty and then I've knocked on her door. She opened the door slightly. "Go to your room and then teleport here, tell me good night and leave like in every other night!" She whispered quickly. "Yes, I handed the dress! If there is nothing more I can do, then I will let you rest! Have a good night, my queen!" I bend in front of her with my hand over my heard and leave when she closed her door. I walked back to my room, took off my heavy armor but still kept the swords before I locked my door and teleported into my queen's chambers. "My queen, what happened?" I whispered and watched her walk closer to me. She cupped my face and kissed me softly. I closed my eyes and run my arms around her waist pulling her closer to my chest. She run her hands through my hair and pulled me closer as she broke our lips apart so I left a trail of kisses down her jaw line and neck. "Hades!" She moaned silently arousing me even more. "Yes, my queen!" She pushed me away and I looked at her confused. "We should stop for a second, I mean, few minutes ago I was sure about this, but now, I am having second thoughts." I let her out of my embrace and cleared my throat. "I understand, my queen!" I forced a smile on my lips and took a step back, locking my hands together in front of me. "Hades, I really am sorry!" I shook my head. "My queen, it is alright! Maybe we shouldn't have done this from the beginning, it is my fault as well for letting myself even think in such way. I shall go back to my chambers and let your highness rest!" I saw the pain in her eyes but I cannot afford getting her into trouble. I was about to teleport back to my room when she hugged my waist. "I am sorry I hurt you as well, my queen!" I hugged her tight. "You didn't hurt me, Hades. Hiding our feelings hurts me, my indecision hurts me and you as well!" I stopped her by raising her face towards mine with a finger on her chin and kissed her softly. "I love you, my queen!" And after whispering those words to her, I've teleported to my room.
In the morning, I got the queen her dress and followed her to the throne room to wait for the king to arrive. I was next in line with the guards looking straight at the guard in front of me, but my mind wondering off. The king walked in the throne room and I kneeled with my hand on my heart looking down. "Welcome back dad!" I've heard Thor and even though everyone else relaxed their position I barely stood back up but still looked away from everyone else. I felt like something was wrong. I looked around at the guards and broke the formation to examine all of them. "Knight! What are you doing?" I spun around to face the king. "My job sir!" He sat down onto his chair dissatisfied. "Get back on formation!" I clenched my jaw and took a deep breath. "No! My king, something is wrong! I can feel it!" I felt a presence run through the room and I closed my eyes to localize it. When I opened my eyes, I run towards the throne and shove my sword towards the stairs, striking into the invisible creature, killing it on an instant. "My king, I will personally clean this up! Please accept my apologies for breaking your orders!" I kneeled in front of him and he waved his hand to give me permission and clean.
After everyone left the throne room, I started cleaning the creature off the floor. "How did you feel it?" I turned around to see Loki. "Magic." I kneeled down to wipe the blood off the stairs. "I noticed mom not taking her eyes off you." He whispered and looked at the throne. "Did you know that I used that spell on the throne and it gave me a really bad feeling?" I looked up at the prince and smirk. "What did you expect? A throne has it's secrets!" I finished cleaning up and the maids came to take away my mess.
I walked with the prince into the lunch room where the party just started. I stood next to my queen looking at all the people. "Odin, darling, I want to dance!" Frigga begged her husband who was too busy eating and drinking and talking with the other men from the high court. "Not now my love, I really need to make the guests feel like home." Frigga got annoyed and warned him. "Odin, if you will not dance with me, I will dance with my knight!" Odin laughed and turned back to the other men. I placed my hand over her shoulder and reassured her. "It is okay my queen, you will dance later!" I smiled but she didn't listen. She stood up and made me follow her.
We reached the dancefloor and despite all the eyes that landed on us she glared at everyone. "I, the queen, want to dance! The king is busy at the moment as you all can see, so I chose a partner!" She turned to face me and placed my hand on her waist before putting hers on my shoulder. The waltz was playing now and I smiled slightly before I started dancing with her to the rhythm of the music, spinning her around, using unusual dance moves to cheer her up. When the song ended, we were so close, face to face, panting. I took a step back and cleared my throat. "My queen!" I bend in front of her and she did the same, thanking for the dance. The day went on without any unpredictable event happening, but the next morning was a nightmare.
I was forcefully pulled out of my room, by two guards, while I was equipping my armor. I was walked to the throne room and kneeled in front of the king. "How dare you?" I looked up at him confused. "I beg your pardon!" He banged his spear onto the floor and stood up in anger. "Don't you dare play dumb! You infima creature, courting the queen while I was away! You were one of the best knights! How could you betray the throne like that?!" I looked straight into his eyes not answering. "Speak up! It is your last time!" I smirked and sighed. "Who told you that I was courting the queen? The queen! The only person in this whole kingdom that I must follow almost everywhere and make sure she is wealthy, healthy and happy!" His eyes widen. "Yesterday you danced with my wife! You traitor! You know what that means here!" I chuckled and looked into his eye. "She told you that she wanted to dance and she warned you that if you do not take her to dance, she will dance with me!" He got even angrier and stepped closer to me. "Do not fool me boy, I saw the way you look at her, with hunger and arousal! She will never be able to look at you, a mere slave! Execute him!" I was pulled to my feet and dragged into the back of the palace in the working yard. Loki and Thor were in the stables and came out to see what is happening. "Loki!" I whispered to him and drop a key winking at him. "Is yours boy!" I looked up at the palace and saw Frigga in the balcony, barely holding up on her feet from crying. "Take care of your mother boys!" That was the last thing I told them before the gates to the execution yard closed.
I was placed with my neck on a log and another guard walked closer to me. "I am sorry boy!" I smirked involuntarily. "Just hurry up..." I relaxed my body and faced towards the palace where I could still see her. I teared up and even though the executioner was already next to me with the axe up in the air, I only saw her. With my last second of consciousness, I felt the pain in my neck and saw the queen fall off her feet the same exact moment my head rolled off the log.

To say that Thor was mad would be an understatement. To say Frigga cared would be a complete lie.
“He’s trying to get me to marry, Mother,” he nearly screams. Nonetheless, the woman remains calm. “To cede some of my power to some woman!”
Frigga watches her son stomp around her chambers with a watchful eye, never moving from her seat across the room. She’s watched her son – her lovely, wonderful son – perform this long-winded act many times before; when Loki came into their lives, whenever Frigga had to force them to share. Thor, in classic eldest-sibling fashion, thoroughly disliked anyone impeding on what he thought to be his.
His toys, his room, his room, his power. All of it, everything he wished for, was his.
This included his throne, apparently, as is made obvious by his red-faced rambling.
“What, is he going to pluck some maiden from the streets of Asgard? Make her some puppet for during in my rule?” he’s stomping now, nearly spitting.
He stays like that – acting the same way he did when Loki stole a single potato from his plate when he was old enough to walk and talk and feel but young enough to not have a single muscle on his lanky body.
Just like usual, he eventually tires himself out, using his last bit of energy to bark in the general direction of a servant to get him some ale. He sits in the chair across from his mother, elbow resting on his knees.
Thor’s voice is quieter now, much more pensive. “Mother, what am I going to do?”
Frigga waits for the servant to bring the large drink and for Thor to gulp half of it down before responding. “What you father wants is for you to have a bride – it’s important to the people you rule over. What your father wants –“
“Is for me to give my power to some woman,” Thor scoffs into his drink. “I’m aware.”
Frigga rolls her eyes. “No, darling. What your father wants is to make sure the woman is to his tastes.”
Her son scoffs. “What does that mean?”
“It means, if you picked a woman from say,” the woman shrugs. “Midgard, then he wouldn’t be able to say no to her for fear of backlash from the Asgardians,” Thor smiles as she continues talking, now understanding. “They love their humans, you know.”
They laugh together, happy as their devised their plan: Thor would leave the next day for Midgard, spend some time there, woo some woman he knows will not impede too much into his duties as king.
So, when Thor saw you in that faded orange cardigan, the leggings that showed off your thick thighs, and a well-loved t-shirt that looked incredibly soft with your hair piled on top of your head and fuzzy socks on your feet and you yawning so adorably as you waited for your coffee to be finished, he knew he had to have you. Sure, maybe he was being shallow when he thought about being buried between your thick thighs or laying on your large breasts, and maybe he should’ve learned more about your personality before calling you his “dream girl.” But still, he knew you were the one and he needed to get you to fall in love with him ASAP.
There were a few problems with this mission:
First: he didn’t know your name, your job in the tower, or how to find you. He knew you as “the adorable one who likes coffee,” which doesn’t narrow it down, especially because they were in New York and more specifically Stark Tower, where everyone within city limits was running on two gallons of coffee, anxiety, and institutional access to research databases.
Second: after pestering every Avenger he could find, Thor found out that you had a boyfriend. A long-term one, too. About five years is what Steve begrudgingly told Thor after the God broke into his personal gym during his morning run on the treadmill (that day it was hailing, and Captain America will put up with a lot – but he refuses to get hit in the face with golf-ball sizes sphere of ice). A few minutes later, Barton (who admitted very quickly to listening through the vents) told Thor that rumor had it he was going to propose pretty soon – had picked the ring and restaurant out but hadn’t booked the reservation.
Third: very soon after learning that you were taken, Thor also learned that he would likely be spending a lot of time with you since where you worked and his favorite place ended up being the exact same. Tony’s personal lab (where he often worked with Bruce), was pretty much where you lived. Your official job description was akin to “personal librarian,” which meant keeping the lab orderly so Tony could on inventing things (or whatever else it is he does). Once, about a day before Pepper decided to hire someone, Tony spent four hours sorting screws.
Four. Entire. Hours.
You, with your degree in IT and concentration in database creation and management, were perfect for the job. He was even allowing you to use his lab for research – making you a pioneer in a field you didn’t realize existed until LexisNexis contacted you asking to moonlight as a consultant during their company-wide restructuring.
Some (mostly those who interviewed for the job and didn’t get it) called you a glorified assistant, a nanny whose only job was to clean up toys. Still, Tony spoke highly of you during parties and interviews and whenever anyone complimented his lab.
Given your dedication to your work, a few months in Tony offered you an apartment a few floors down. It was newly renovated, and since most Stark employees lived in Stark Industries-subsidized housing not located within HQ, you lived mostly secluded from everyone else.
To you, it was amazing. You never had to see anyone you didn’t intend to and you never had to brave the famously-bad New York winter weather just to go to bed. In all honesty, it was your dream life.
Thor, though, had to disagree. It made it impossible to “bump into you,” he never saw you when you weren’t working (you made it very clear you preferred to either a) work in silence or b) listen to music or an audiobook you picked). Even if he managed to catch a glimpse of you on your lunch break, you always seemed to be more interested in something else – a book, a conversation, whatever. Never, ever, did he seem to be able to catch you off guard.
About a week in, he realized this would be much harder than he originally thought.
Over the course of six months, Thor learned a few things:
First: you really like to read. He ends up asking Natasha (arguably the person you’re closest with) about every book you like in an attempt to have something to talk about.
Second (before he wanted to talk to you about the Poisonwood Bible but after he finally got Natasha to crack): You really don’t like your boyfriend, and your boyfriend doesn’t really seem to like you. When he asks why you two are still dating, Natasha just shrugs sadly.
“That’s a story for her to tell, not me, Odinson,” she said.
Third (the next morning, he sniffed around the kitchen to find anyone who would tell him anything about you): You were incredibly insecure about your body. He learned that from Steve. He learned from Sam that this was why you stayed with your emotionally distant romantic partner; because you thought you couldn’t find anyone better.
This, of course, was a lot of information to handle at once. So Thor did what a bunch of bubbly college students on YouTube called “mind-maps” so he could sort out his thoughts. What started as a fresh, clean, white sheet of graph paper ended up being a masterplan to win you over.
Step 1: Have a solid conversation with you
This happens much faster than expected. The next morning, to be exact. It’s sort of warming up, so you’re wearing a thin pullover and a pair of tight, light grey jeans. The pullover has some Midgardian logo on it, one Thor doesn’t recognize. When you turn around as you wait for the coffee machine, he asks you about it.
“What’s on your…” he gestures to said logo.
You smile bashfully, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. “It’s, uh, it’s just some concept art for a book I like. ”
Thor beams. He knows he’s got you. “What book?”
You shrug, grabbing the pot and pouring the steaming liquid into your peach pink travel mug. “It’s called Nothing, it’s by Janne Teller…
From there, you and him talk about what’s possibly the darkest book of all time. You explain to him the plot, the emotion it evokes from you. It truly is your favorite piece of literature; you really could talk about it for hours.
So, you do. Over your morning coffee, then a larger-than-usual breakfast, and then lunch. You make grilled cheese and tomato soup, biting every few sentences.
“God, my favorite line, like of the entire book is like,” you take a bite, chewing as you speak. “So Pierre is talking to these kids, and this one kid is Muslim, and gave up the prayer mat, or rather was made to give up his prayer mat. And Pierre is like ‘what price was your faith?’ And that line has like, continued to haunt me. It’s just,” you swallow. “What price do we pay to prove ourselves to others, you know?”
Thor listens intently as you speak, nodding and smiling as you go on. It’s amazing how much someone lights up when they talk about something they’re passionate about. It’s probably mid-afternoon when you finally realize that you’ve been talking for literal hours.
“Oh my god,” you gush, collecting the dishes and placing them in the sink. “I’m so sorry, I’ve been-”
Thor grabs your wrist, bunching at the sleeve. “No, please do not apologize. I have been meaning to talk to you for a long time.”
You blush, not meeting his eyes. “Why would someone like you want to talk to someone like me…”
That’s sort of when Thor’s suave facade cracks a little. You’re everything he’s ever wanted in a partner. Literally ever. And your inability to see that troubles him deeply.
“My dear, you’re so smart and quick and eloquent,” he tells you, never break eye contact. “Don’t even think I don’t want to be around you.”
You blush, not responding while scuttering off and mumbling something about having to go to a meeting for Stark.
Step 2: Get you to spend what Natasha and Wanda call “quality time” with him.
This one happens a little while later. Tony, in an effort to reward you, gave you some time off. The problem is that you hate taking off work, you always have. It’s impossible for you to feel good when you’re not being productive, and the idea of laying around for three days is unimaginable to you.
“Listen, you need some sun, you’ve been cooped up in here for weeks,” Tony tried to plead with you as he hanged upside down from the ceiling.
“C’mon, I’m not a house plant! What am I going to do anyway?” you cry out from your spot on the floor.
Just then, Natasha happened to walk through the door with a paperwork mishap. If there was a lightbulb above her head, it would’ve burned bright enough to blind them. Without doing anything that even resembles what she originally walked into the lab to do, Natasha bolts out at the speed of lightning.
“THOR!” she screams when she enters his apartment. “THOR, I HAVE SOME VERY GOOD NEWS!”
Promptly, he comes out in just a towel, glowing like some candle in a dark room. “Yes, Natasha?”
She takes a minute to wolf whistle before she beings. “The darling girl you’ve had your eye on has a few days off coming up...you should take her somewhere! Do something!”
Thor’s silent. He sort of didn’t think this would ever happen...now that he has the opportunity he’s a little floored. It’s like when you’ve been doodling hearts with your crush’s name in them and then they actually talk to you. “Oh...oh Gods...what do I do? How should I ask her…”
Natasha’s a little giddy with excitement at the prospect of Thor taking you out. You’ve been so good to them in so many different ways...she wants someone to do something nice to you for once. If that meant setting you up with the super-hot God of Thunder (and Fertility...wink wink), then so be it.
“Oh goodness, you can do anything!” she mentally runs through all of the endless possibilities. “She’ll want something quiet, quaint...coffee shop? No, that’s too boring. Some fair thing? No, that’s too crazy, loud. Maybe you could...oh my God that’s perfect!”
Thor, still in a towel but now dry, looks confused. Appreciative, but confused. “What, Natasha...what is it?”
Her grin stretches from ear to ear, teeth flashing and eyes bright. “You should help her organize the bookshelf in her room, she’s been talking about it for ages and she’s always talks about she’s never had the time or the energy and-”
“You think the best way for me to get to know the future mother of my children is to help her organize her...shelf of books?” Thor is now dressed. Natasha doesn’t question it.
“Uh...hells yeah! Listen, dude. If you really want to get to know her you need to get her in a situation, she’s comfortable with,” Natasha sees she has a text indicating she’s needed for some logistical work for the next mission and turns to leave. Right before the elevator, though, she turns to face Thor again. “But don’t mention the ‘mother of children thing’...it’s weird.”
Thor takes note as he prepares to ask you about the...date? Is it a date? That he’s planning on taking you on. Luckily, he doesn’t have to try too hard, because Wanda and Steve less than five minutes later to help him.
“Oh Thor-egous Odinson!” Wanda sing-songs as she enters into his living room. She practically bouncing off of the walls as she goes to sit down next to Thor on the large, plush couch.
“Hey Thor,” Steve mumbles quietly. He chooses a chair across from both of them, obviously extremely uncomfortable with the situation. He’s one of the few people who knows you really well, though, so the need for qualified individuals overpowers his personal feelings about manipulating you into going on a date with the God (Natasha refused to use that word when Steve brought it up, though. “I’m just encouraging her, Steven, calm down,” she tried to explain to him on the elevator up. “Don’t call me that,” is all Steve replied).
“So,” Wanda chirps. “Nat told us you wanted to help our favorite little book worm organize her bookshelves on her sequence of days off?”
Thor gives a small noise of affirmation, knowing very well that Wanda and Natasha understand you the best. If he had any choice of making his plan work, they would have to be a part of it – whether they knew it or not.
They spent hours talking about you – both of them providing deep analysis of your likes, dislikes, preferences. The things you love, hate.
It ended with lists sprawled on scraps of paper, things they told Thor he had to memorize if had “a sliver of hope” of having you like him.
With pockets stuffed full of these promises, he walked away with a small smirk and much better idea of how execute his plan, as has all led him into the next step:
Step 3: Make you like him much more than your current paramour.
This part appears to be the easiest, given your boyfriend is an aggressively mediocre man-child. You’ve got a picture of you and him on one of the bookshelf cubicles not overcome by thick books, next to a few small figurines of miscellaneous origin.
Thor asks about them as you both work to clear the bookshelf, throwing everything on the floor to be sorted later. Each one makes smile brightly for a few moments before sadness overtakes your eyes. One of them – a small fawn curled into a sleeping position on a small, circular bed of grass – seems to bring a special wave of melancholy to your face.
“Yeah, that was from when we met, a, uh, a study abroad program to a Canadian university. He and I had a mutual friend who made miniatures for fun – still does, actually – and we met through her. He bought me that for our first anniversary.”
Thor does his best to hide his wicked smile, but nevertheless is appreciative of your downcast eyes. “It sounds like he really loves you.”
You don’t disagree, just sigh. “So, can you help me sort these books by color type?”
Thor smiles wide as he can. “Of course.”
As he separates the books into four piles (warms, cools, white, and black), he goes over the state of his plan:
Step 4: Have you break up with your current paramour.
This step seems to be a significantly harder step, given your stubbornness surrounding being with him. It’s not as if Thor can grab you by the shoulders and say “he doesn’t love you! He’ll never love you! Just stop being in a relationship with him!”
He totally can’t do that, right? Right?
(After a few communiques with his mother they both decide, no, he can in fact not do that.)
So he settles for driving a wedge between the two of you that even he can fit in. Somehow, that seems just as good.
Step 5: Have you join him in Asgard.
This, too, feels much harder than sowing dislike between you and your…previous courtesan.
You’re smart, interesting, something Thor has yet to see in many possible wives. The problem is, your intelligence and fascinating nature are tied to your highly demanding job that you are, unfortunately, very attached to. Attempting to keep you for anything longer than your contractually obligated lunch break is tough enough, how could he convince you leave your job? Your home?
The floor-to-ceiling bookshelves – now organized by color – stare down at Thor almost mockingly. He wonders, as he hears the teapot screeching and two mugs being placed onto the counter, if his plan worked. You’re naïve, sure, but too naïve for him to mold? He’s been manipulating people since he was a golden child – him misreading you would be a blow to his ego, his very being.
But he cannot give up. Not when he’s only two steps into his plan.
As such, Thor spends the next few weeks following you around – doing everything he possible could to make your life easier. A mug too high? He would grab it before you could sigh about what shelf it was on. Dirty dishes? He’d fill the dishwasher, do the handwashing, and put all the clean dishes away after drying them. He did laundry and put it all away in its exact place.
Natasha made a comment Thor didn’t understand about 1960’s housewives, to which the god said nothing in return. He’d join you multiple times a week to do whatever you wanted – sometimes you’d watch a movie together, other times he’d help you shop online. Sometimes he’d help you cook food for the week, once he listened to you talk about new academic research you were interested in.
One special week he even held you as you cried about the man who was supposed to be the love of your life. That week, he wiped your tears and held you as you feel asleep, nuzzling into one of the many large hoodies he had acquired on his time on Midgard. That week, he thought he had cracked it – thought he had finally figured out how to get what wants.
Unfortunately for him, the truth was not kind to his endeavors. Not even a full day had passed before you were gushing over the man once more, sparkles in your eyes and hands clutching the latest “cute” thing he had texted you.
It was sickening, really, how easily you allowed yourself to be manipulated by him. Still, it gave Thor an ounce of hope. It this imbecile could get you crawling back to him, surely a god could do it too.
So he kept with the constant visits, with the bringing you lunch and coffee and eating take out on the floor of your bedroom and watching bad movies with you. It was menial, but it was working.
You began to trust him, began to get used to his presence.
For this reason (and maybe a few more you didn’t want to talk about), the knock on your door at dusk on a Wednesday was not exactly unexpected. For this reason, you answered the door in a loose crop top and soft, worn pajama shorts and ankle socks with smiling avocados on them.
You opened the door to him, excited to show him the duvet he had helped you pick out. It looked so much better in person, and you thought he’d like it.
He followed you, of course he did, into your bedroom. You were expecting that.
What you weren’t expecting was him to slam you into one of the few spots on the wall devoid of posters, trinkets, other miscellaneous crap that made the place feel a little more like a home.
You couldn’t see much over his broad shoulders, but somehow the top shelf of the very bookcase he had help you organize all that time ago.
Each title seemed to mock you as he began to speak.
“You’ve been holding out on me, little lamb,” he said with a sneer.
You tried to push at his muscular chest to no avail. “Thor, I don’t know what you’re t-“
He pushes you against the wall once more, ignoring your cries in pain. “Shut the fuck up, you know exactly what I mean.”
He rips the crop top off – revealing your simple black bralette. He moans as his large hands palm at your breasts, and you have to fight one yourself, too. It’s been so long since you’d had sex, let alone gone to first base; your lover (the one you had been with for over five years) hadn’t touched you like that since you’d decided to move into Stark Tower and your less-than-extensive sex toy collection had satisfied you in the very least.
Still, this was wrong. Very, very wrong.
“C’mon,” he growls, moving his hands south. “You know you want to…”
“I-” You try to push him away, only being able to think of how you were going to explain this to a man you thought one day you’d marry. You have to tell him, right? You have to tell him about what Thor tried. That’s the basis of good relationships, communication. “No, I don’t, Thor please-“
That’s when the last bit of him cracks, the soft edges to his voice sharpening and his jaw squaring.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” he growls, ripping the shorts off next. “Do you understand all the shit I’ve put up with for you? All while your shithead boyfriend barely sent you a fucking text once a week to see if you were alright.”
“Thor, I-“
“No,” he shouts, making you flinch away from him. “Don’t excuse him! Don’t try and tell me he loves you like I do!”
That makes your eyes widen in fear, makes your hands shake where they’re pined at your side.
Thor softens everywhere except in his grip, keeping you pressed against him. “Oh, darling you don’t have to worry. I’m never gonna hurt you…”
A smile spreads across his face, then, leaning close to your ear. “Unless you want me to.”
He palms your clothed pussy, slipping two fingers inside of your dripping heat. It’s a delicious feeling and you fight back a moan, terrified to give him the satisfaction.
“C’mon darling,” Thor coos. “Let me hear you.”
He removes his fingers, then, smiling when you whine before stuffing his thick cock inside of you. It fits easily, given how wet you are, and for a moment – just a moment – you lose yourself to the pleasure.
“O-Oh,” you moan. “Oh, that feels so good.”
It all breaks down when Thor speaks once more, though. words flowing between him biting at your hot skin.
“That’s right, love,” his hands roam your body with fervor. “Let me make you feel good.”
It’s then that your mouth goes dry and a sense of dread washes over you.
“I-,” you try to find your verbal footing, wanting to find a path away from him. “I shouldn’t be doing this, I-“
You freeze when Thor uses one of his large hands to wrap around your throat, pinning you between him and the wall.
“Are you fucking serious?” he growls. “You’re really thinking about him right now?”
He nearly spits when he mentions your boyfriend, skin hot from fury.
“Think of all the things I’ve done for you!” he hisses into your ear. “How much easier I made your life. What has your boyfriend done for you?”
You don’t respond. In turn, he only fucks into you harder.
“That’s right. I know how little he loves you, and how little you love him,” you scream as he flips you around, using one hand to pins both your arms behind your back with your cheek pressed to the cool wall. “And yet you stay with him, why?”
You say nothing in return, though it’s not like you could. Each word dies in your throat when Thor thrusts into you once again. All that’s able to escape are choked sobs, broken pleas that sound more animal than human. Part of you wonders if Thor can hear you, another part wonders, if he could, would he care? If he truly understands what he’s doing, does it matter whether or not you want to push him away and cut away the skin he’s touched?
You can’t tell which is worse – dangerous naivety in combination with his strength, or determination blended with disregard.
Fiery tears burn as they stream down the already heated skin of your cheeks, but even that isn’t enough to distract from the feeling of Thor’s large hands all over you.
“C’mon little lamb,” he growls, voice sending bolts of electricity through you. “Cum for me.”
He swipes at your clit in smooth, tight circles, golden hot pleasure flooding your veins.
You reach your peak with a deep, chesty moan, nails digging into the skin of his back as you bucked your hips near violently.
“F-fuck,” Thor growls, continuing to thrust into you. “You feel so good around my cock, little lamb. You’ll have to excuse me, you’re going to make me cum much sooner than I would on an average night.”
Your eyes widen in fear, ready to plead for him to pull out.
Thor just lets out a small laugh, nipping at your skin. “Don’t worry, lamb, I won’t fill you with my seed.”
You let out a sigh of relief, but it doesn’t last for long.
“The last thing either of us need is for you to be bearing the mark of my child away from our people.”
You barely have time to react before Thor tucks his face into your neck as he finishes himself off, thick white ropes of cum painting your lower half.
You think it’s over, but of course it isn’t – that would be too fucking easy. He moves two of his rough fingers – still smelling distinctly of your sex – through his masterpiece before shoving them deep into your mouth, smiling. At first you gag, but as your blood begs for oxygen you accept your fate and clean the salty substance with your tongue.
“There you go,” he coos, beaming as he gazes down at you. “Such a good little lamb…I wonder if you can clean my cock like that?”
You can’t tell which you flinch harder at, the nickname or the thought of him sticking his dick past your lips and down your throat.
“Oh, don’t try to act like you don’t like it,” Thor says between light kisses he peppers across your neck. “Don’t you just love the idea of servicing me forever?”
You can feel him getting hard again against your thigh and you whimper, desperate to get away.
“Fuck don’t make that noise, little lamb, makes me want you more,” Thor groans. “Just imagine it – you and me on Asgard. I can rule and you can be my pretty little pet.”
Your eyes widen in fear, brain now fully comprehending what, exactly, Thor wants from you.
“Thor, please,” you beg. “Please, let’s be rational. I mean, Stark needs me! Right? You know how much Tony needs me!”
Thor just laughs, burrowing his nose into the nap of your neck. “Oh, my little lamb. We’ll figure it out – maybe you can train someone else to do your job. Or Tony can finally figure out how to be a man and figure that shit out himself,” he pulls back to kiss at your temple, whispering into your sweaty hair. “To be honest, I really don’t care. He’ll lose you soon enough, and how he handles that is neither of our problems.”
It’s then that you understand, that you really understood what was happening with Thor, what he wants from you.
In that moment, you understood that if your world was crashing down, and Thor would be there to pick up the pieces – whether you wanted to or not.

Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 59
Story Summary - Based on an idea I had that I submitted to Imagine Loki. Imagine Loki was raised on Jotunheim as Laufey’s son after the war, but an agreement was then made that he would wed Odin’s daughter so Odin could secure the alliance of Jotunheim through the marriage. Loki, in turn, was raised to be king of Jotunheim, but how he views Asgard is far different from how Odin’s daughter is raised leading to a clash of cultures as well as uncertainty between the pair of betrothed youths.
Chapter Summary - The Aesir prepare to leave with Odin leaving a little bombshell on Jotunheim with his departure.

Chapter 9: Restless
“With the Bifrost gone, how much dark energy did the Allfather have to muster to conjure you here, your precious Earth?”
“He did not...”
Thor angrily sighed recalling very well how you nearly begged him to never disclose the fact that you were the one providing the dark energy. He was a man of his word. Never would he think to betray your trust if there wasn’t a sufficient reason.
In this case, he felt telling Loki would give him the sense he needed. Thor knew the tesseract had changed Loki but surely his feelings for you were still there.
“The dark energy was provided by Y/N.” Thor prodded further trying to appeal to his brother’s emotions. “Your wife. You do recall your wife, do you not brother?”
Loki’s breathing hitched, his chest constricted with the mention of your name. The memory of having harmed you was so hard to forget. His mind burned with the image of your pained expression.
“I thought you dead.”
“Did you mourn?”
“We all did. Our father-”
“Your father,” Loki decided to direct his emotions elsewhere. It was easier to avoid the topic of you and focus on his anger. “He did tell you my true parentage, did he not?”
Back in Asgard, you looked out from Heimdall’s tower towards the still broken Bifrost. After having aided Thor’s return to Midgard you were literally drained of all energy. You weakly clung to Sigyn who aided your visit.
Sigyn was especially worried when you suddenly clenched your eyes shut feeling yet another dizzy spell. “Perhaps we should go back Y/N, you need your rest.”
That phrase had been thoroughly exhausted towards you. Since the day you awoke from the rest Loki imposed on you till now. At first, they worried of your loss, then of the impact Loki’s betrayal would have on you, now it was the fact that you had given your everything into aiding Thor. You supposed they were right to be concerned with your current condition.
“I won’t be long, I only wish to know one thing.” You turned your sights to Heimdall who already had the answer. “Did he tell him?”
“That you gave your energy, yes.” Heimdall paused for a moment knowing very well your one question expected two answers. “That you are with child, no.”
You sighed as instantaneous relief washed over you. To think you were still willing to put not just your own life on the line, but that of your unborn. It may have been unintentional or perhaps you never really were exempt from his charms and mischief- Loki had won you over completely. The coldness of your heart had been no match for him.
Sigyn watched your hand smooth over your swollen belly unconsciously at the news. There was a content upward curve at the end of your lips. She knew very well you cared for Loki and your children equally. The reason you ever agreed to put yourself at risk was that deep down you wanted Loki back. You had confessed to her when you thought Loki dead.
“I would give anything to let Loki know that he was going to be a father.”
Now that you could, you did. You gave your all to have Thor retrieve Loki.
Sigyn smiled as she once again held your hand. “Now then I won’t take no for an answer. I’ll drag you back to your room if I have to.”
“I doubt you could carry all three of us,” you fired back.
It was important to show that you weren’t just some hopeless abandoned wife carrying the disgraced prince’s offspring- as you heard it be said in passing. Even if it was difficult, you would hold your head up high to show you were dependable even when the situation was dire.
“Norns,” you exasperatedly sighed with a roll of your eyes. “I can hardly manage!” You smiled with an exasperated sigh. The hours of being on your feet coupled with the sleepless nights you’ve faired were catching up to you. “Let us get back before the Allmother finds us gone.”
\\\
It wasn’t long after you had recovered from exerting your dark energy that you heard from the Allfather that Thor would be bringing Loki back as a prisoner.
“When he arrives I do not want you here.”
Shocked by his choice of words Frigga stepped in. She did not want you mistaking what they were asking of you. “What he means to say is that it would be best if Loki did not see you immediately upon arrival.”
Loki had a tendency to react strongly to emotional events. No doubt he would cause trouble if he were to see you in your current condition.
“Of course, as you say Allfather.” You nodded not really having a choice but to follow their orders. That didn’t mean you agreed it was the best thing to do. “We all know how well Loki reacts to secrecy.”
Odin did not care for your sarcastic response. He stood from his throne in a confrontational manner. “Do you think you know better than I?”
The question echoed the empty room say for a few guards it was just you three there at the time.
“I am just curious to know how long you intend me to hide from Loki.” Eventually, he would hear and the result would be worse. “Believe me when I say there is no one more eager to condemn his actions than I am!”
Your outburst caused the palace walls to shake and all lights to go out reminding Odin that Loki wasn’t the only one whose power was linked to their emotions.
As your chest rose and fell harshly you exhaled a cool puff of air. Anyone would have apologized or at the very least looked away when Odin narrowed his eye but not you. You continued to hold his gaze with a furrowed brow. Your hands protectively held your swollen belly knowing very well they grew just as restless as their mother.
With a wave of her hand, Frigga restored the lighting before walking down the steps to be at your side. You had just recovered your energy and could not afford these outbursts. “Y/N please save your strength.” She put her hands atop yours feeling the restlessness within you. “It will do no good to the little ones.”
You nodded with a sigh. It was hard to hold back even when you knew what was going on. Pregnancy changed a woman physically but were far more affected emotionally and mentally. All the things you would normally keep to yourself were being expressed without your consent.
Frigga wiped away the single tear that rolled down your cheek with a sympathetic smile.
“I did not will this,” you pointed to your cheek where the drying tear trail was evident.
“I know.” She smiled knowing very well how hard you tried to keep up the facade. “Y/N, I promise you will see him soon.”
\\\
“Did you not once wonder about your wife,” Frigga asked. Her heart had been broken by her son’s harsh words but there was even greater pain in what was left unsaid. She could hardly recognize the man that stood before her. Was he really the boy she nurtured and cared for?
Loki swallowed the lump forming in his throat. He could not afford to ever think about you. Even now the memory of his dagger in your side haunted his conscience all the while his heart ached to be with you.
“Not once,” he confirmed.
Frigga nodded in understanding. “But now?”
Loki turned his back to her knowing very well that she knew what he wanted most was to see you. That he was absolutely distraught by the fact that you had yet to be seen. It made him wonder if you had recovered.
“I promised her I would allow you two to speak...”
Frigga gave you an apologetic look as you appeared beside her. She did not expect Loki to be so crass.
"Thank you Allmother.” You exchanged a final look before she disappeared leaving only you two in the cell.
The moment was long overdue, you anticipated the fact that what you two would discuss was not to be heard or seen by anyone else. A wave of your hand shrouded the outside of the cell in darkness, isolating him and you.
Loki scoffed at the sight of you in his cell while still maintaining his signature smirk. He believed you to be an illusion just like Frigga. “How lovely of you to visit me Love.”
He had to admit his heart skipped a beat as he took in the sight of you with plaited hair. It had grown longer and perhaps that was your reason for fashioning a crown of it. Your look was complemented by the emerald green dress he figured you recently fashioned as he had never seen it before.
You said nothing in return only taking a few steps to close the distance between you and Loki. At the final moment, your dominant hand was engulfed in your signature dark smoke as you conjured up your dagger.
Without hesitation, you plunged it into Loki’s side, channeling all the built-up resentment.
Loki doubled over with a grunt of pain as he realized what you had done.
“Now we are even.”
He looked up to see a satisfied smirk playing upon your lips lifting all his previous worries. "Guess I deserved that," Loki groaned after pulling out the dagger in one quick motion.
“That and much more,” you sternly assured. Although you had been betrayed that day you would never forget how much more painful it was to awake to the news of having lost Loki.
That physical pain was long forgotten in your distress.
Loki healed his wound almost immediately before stretching his hand out to you.
“You are such a fool Loki!” You planned to make him suffer some more but you could not resist placing your hand in his. As soon as you did tears began to obstruct your vision. “Faking your own death so you could try and rule Midgard...”
“That was not my intention from the beginning.” Loki thought back to The Other and Thanos thinking it best he never speaks of them to you. They were not people he wanted you to be involved with.
“Then what was?” You felt restless from all the contradicting thoughts and emotions you had yet to process that you could hardly control yourself. The temperature inside the cell began to drop rapidly. When icicles began to form you turned your back to Loki and laid your hand on your belly. “There, there... calm down...” you muttered under your breath as you ran soothing circles around it.
Actions Loki found most intriguing. He was far from naive to miss the signs if there had been any. To his eyes you were unchanged. That’s when it occurred to him, you were every bit as talented as he was.
The next time you expressed a wave of discomfort he saw it. It was merely a glimpse but the glamour spell faltered as your concentration did. In an instant, he was before you giving an accusatory look. “You are with child.”
You shook your head.
“Do not try to deny it!”
With the next wave of pain, you completely lost control allowing him to see how you caressed your swollen belly. “I am not denying that I am pregnant.” You sighed, “I am denying that I am with child because I am not only carrying a single child.”
Loki opened his mouth as if to speak yet nothing made it past his lips.
“What has happened to that quick wit and silver tongue of yours? Is it really that hard to fathom the idea that you have once again tricked me? What a horrid trickster you are, faking your death so you may run off to another realm. “Professing your love for me only to disappear once you have filled my womb.”
"How could you be so reckless!” Loki was extremely gentle as he picked you up princess style. He sat you down on the bed with a scowl when he recalled Thor regaling him of how you had given your all into sending him to Midgard. “You are in no condition to be thinking of anyone other than yourself!”
“It became inevitable when I realized how irresponsible and idiotic that fall had made you.” You were back to your stoic self once the pain subsided. “Or perhaps it started before only I wished not to see it.”
Pregnant! Loki could hardly wrap his mind around the revelation. Then that night, before Laufey came... when I- Loki tried to hide the fact that he was battling himself internally. He could have harmed more than just you that night. Had his dagger been longer...
“Stop,” you held his chin in your hand making him turn towards you. Tragedy had brought with it many things. One was the sharpening of your eyes. You had become far more vigilant and aware of the slightest shifts in expressions and moods. “There is no use worrying about the past when the present is before you.”
The way he eyed you and your protruding belly said it all.
“They were never in danger.”
Your body ached not of pain but of restlessness like you had been bedridden for days. There was some physical discomfort but not too much. Most importantly it was coming from your back, not your side meaning it wasn’t Loki’s doing.
“Y/N,” a look of relief washed over Queen Frigga as you made a move to sit up. She held your hand helping you comfortably shift your weight around so you may sit at the edge dangling your feet.
“Here is some water your highness.”
Thanks were unnecessary and impossible at the moment with how painfully dry your mouth was. You could feel an irritating prick a the back of your throat when the cool liquid was reintroduced. It felt as if you had been on the brink of dehydration.
Frigga’s hand gently held your back so you wouldn’t overdo it. “Slowly my dear.”
Once the glass was empty it was taken by the maid. As you grew conscious of your surroundings you noted several maids present along with a single healer who seemed to be taking their leave.
“How do you feel?” Some light-headedness and nausea were to be expected, she wouldn’t be surprised if you confessed to those.
“My back-” you sat extremely straight up stretching every which way to alleviate the pain. “I feel as if I have been in bed for days.”
Frigga gave a half-hearted smile. “That is because you have.” To be exact it had been weeks.
“That long?” Your eyes went to the location of your wound curious to see it but were obstructed by the nightgown.
“Do not worry, no one was in danger.”
Her phrasing seemed odd to you, “No one?” You grew worried when she held your hands in hers with an unreadable expression. It was as if she were hiding something and was trying extremely hard to keep from expressing her emotions.
“Please do not worry my dear Y/N.” Your emotions were strongly bound to your magic. It had been something to look out for before, she could only imagine how recent developments might affect it. “Women must rest and be mindful of themselves in your condition.”
“Condition?”
In a way, you were just as surprised by the news as he was. The timing was horrible but the circumstances were not. Loki was or rather still is your husband, a man you had passionately embraced countless times. There was no one else you could envision yourself with, he was the only man you would ever consider bearing children for.
“And you? You are not meant to carry a Jotun child much less two of them.”
“Yet here I am.” You stand, making it a point to show you were absolutely capable of carrying your children. What had broken your spirit was the devastating news of Loki’s fate that day. “You are what worries me Loki.”
Just moments ago he had been talking to his mother in a manner that you had never seen before. There was a look in his eyes that spoke louder than words. “I could hardly recognize you before.” Your brow furrowed in remembrance, “I know you did not lie to your mother. All this time you did not think of me until you were confronted by Thor.”
“I-” His jaw tightened. The fact baffled him as well. He did not notice it before but perhaps the tesseract had clouded his mind to the point where all he thought of was power. It pushed back every thought of you making it that much easier for him to hide your existence. That is until Thor began using your name to weaken his resolve.
“Whatever the reason may be, I hope you regain your composure.” You sent him a pointed glare to show you were far from fooled. “I’ve never been one to tolerate foolish men and I won’t start now.”
Loki was beside himself, his jaw had gone slack. He had just been stabbed and scolded by his pregnant wife yet all he could think about was the fact that he was going to be a father. “I did foolishly manage to unleash two more Jotuns onto Asgard...” His hand went to your stomach feeling for himself.
Loki gave a pained expression when he met your eyes again. He wasn’t expecting you to be so welcoming of him after all that he had done.
And you could see it.
”I never intended to have children after knowing what I really was.” Jotuns were heartless monsters who readily abandon their young if they do not meet expectations. Such was his fate. Although Odin may have taken him in he was far from the ideal father. “Laufey, Odin, and even your father- they all had their faults.” He swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat at the thought of him being next. “I do not wish to fail.”
His confession garnered one of your own. “I love you Loki.” Your hand steadied over his assuring him he was not alone. “Even if all you wanted is power-” You sighed loudly trying to keep your wits about you."I am overjoyed that I got the chance to share this with you.”
That was all you wanted.
Asking for anything else would be selfish.
“Foolish enchantress,” Loki scolded. His lips pressed against your cheek in a chaste kiss. “I undeniably love you as well, far more than power.”
You smiled at the unmistakable fluttering in your stomach. “Once again you have smitten me with your words.”
“I can give you far more than words.”
\\\
Frigga gives you a gentle smile as she enters your bathroom where you have taken solace in the bathtub. “You must be in a great deal of discomfort to call upon me.” She had offered her help throughout your pregnancy but you were always reluctant to accept. “Always wanting to prove your strength when there is also strength in numbers.”
You sighed eyeing the ice-cold bath water with a thin layer of literal ice crystals hardening at the surface. Beads of sweat continued to form and roll down the sides of your face. One fell from your chin onto your chest before disappearing into the bathwater.
“I do not know what else to do Allmother.”
Displeased by your inability to cool down, you shut your eyes and leaned your head back. You were burning up inside and out making your skin glow with the sheen of perspiration.
“Give me your hand dear.”
All the Allmother did was rub your knuckles with her thumb. Her eyes closed in concentration as she hummed to an unfamiliar tune.
Your own eyes shot open once you began to shake. It was as if your nerves could once again feel. The ice melted but the water remained incredibly low in temperature. “What did you do?”
“Nothing,” she admitted giggling. “They were only restless so I soothed them by soothing you.”
By now Frigga knew you were expecting twin boys. It was a revelation that had her grinning from ear to ear. She would be able to relive her memories of a young Loki through her grandchildren.
“It can be avoided if you were to stop harboring all the burden on yourself.”
You shook your head unable to accept that sharing the burden would help.
“Odin has not allowed you to see him yet, it is understandable for you to be upset.”
If it weren’t for Frigga you would have probably done something unfavorable against Odin. Thankfully you managed that one visit with her help. You promised yourself it would be enough until Odin came to his senses.
“I underestimated the Allfather, he is far more stubborn than I could have ever imagined.”
Queen Frigga helped you out of the bath offering a nice warm towel to help balance your body temperature. By now you must have been freezing. “He is preoccupied by other matters but I will speak with him.”
The Aether was keeping Odin busy but it was no excuse for why he had not allowed you to see Loki. Truly even Thor was preoccupied with Jane that neither of the Odinson men had taken time to visit you.
“I wish you were well enough to walk the gardens again.” With your pregnancy advancing you were much more vulnerable and weak. Bouts of sickness, dizziness, and extreme heat flashes plagued your days. “I know you and Thor’s friend would get along.”
“Thor’s friend?”
“Jane, she is a lady friend from Midgard.”
\\\
“Your Highness!”
“Your Highness-”
“Princess!”
Your door is broken down as a flurry of maids and guard invade your private rooms full of concern.
“What is it?” You hardly had time to slip a robe over your shoulders when they ushered you out.
“We must get you to safety there has been a riot in the prison.”
“What?” Your heart sank at the thought of it being caused by Loki.
They were extremely careful with you as they transported you to a much more secure location with the secret halls of the palace. Neither Frigga, Thor, or Odin were in sight but you were much more concerned with thoughts of Loki.
You were far from relief when you found out your husband had nothing to do with the rioting prisoners because you had lost the one person in all of Asgard who had cared for you besides him. The woman who not only cared for you as her son’s wife but as a young child.
She knew you.
She knew of what you were capable, of what you had done. She helped you. Your teary eyes lowered onto the black hematite necklace than hung from your neck. The hematite she acquired for you so you may live a normal life.
Unbeknownst to you Loki too mourned her loss.
You angrily eyed Odin who would still keep you from seeing him. Now is when he needs me most. Although you voiced your thoughts to him before, Odin would not give in.
Just as anger was ready to consume you Heimdall caught your eye. He seemed to call you silently with his eyes. You did not bother to excuse yourself from Odin and went to him.
“Go to them,” Heimdall whispered. “Thor and Loki are waiting for you.”
If he was the one to suggest it you knew it was possible. Heimdall was able to keep this from Odin giving you the chance you had been waiting for.
An opportunity you could not miss.
\\\
When you appeared from behind Thor you expected Loki to be happy to see you but it was quite the opposite. He shook with anger, seething at Thor. “The only time you and your father allow us to be is when you mean to use her.”
Odin would use you as a means to keep Loki grounded while Thor seemed to have no qualms over using your dark energy. This would be the second time and far more discerning with you being far more pregnant than the last time.
You were still unsure of what role you played. You only appeared as Heimdall asked you to but something told you this had to do with what lead to Frigga’s death. Indebted to Frigga you were, and so you would help. “Allow me to help if it will honor Frigga.”
“We need a portal out of Asgard that will be undetected by Odin,” Thor informed you hastily.
“I can do it,” you nodded although part of you feared the amount of energy would put your unborn at risk.
Loki saw your reluctance as your eyes shifted to the hand you kept cradling your swollen womb with. “There is no need.” In a single blink, he was beside you holding your hand. “I will return,” he informed his brother before teleporting you and himself into your room.
“Loki-”
Your protest was muffled by his lips. Loki could no longer hold back his desire to kiss you, to be close to the only other person left in this world who understood him. “There is no need for you to be in harm’s way. I will help Thor on my own.”
“But-”
Again your lips were claimed by his in a manner that left little protest.
Both your eyes closed allowing your other senses to take over. His lips pressed hard against yours molding into each other as your arms came around his neck and his lay at your sides minding his unborn children.
There was a salty taste, his dried tears were gone from the eye but they remained on his lips. Your tongue swiped his bottom lip ridding him of all his past tears and making way for your new ones as they ran down your cheeks.
“Loki please don’t leave me.”
But leave you he must. “If I do not do this, I’ll never be free to live my life with you.”
You shakily sighed clutching onto him burying your face in his neck were you continuously kissed. “Did she tell you?” Your voice wavered as sorrow took over once more. She was so happy though. “They are boys, surely they will resemble you.”
Frigga had indeed told him. She regularly updated him on your health and theirs. “I’d rather they take after you.” His hands held your face so he may have a final look.
“Loki~”
“Do not worry.”
But worry you did when Thor alone returned.
-end-
A/N: Sorry for the long wait, but I kinda played myself with the last chapter and threw myself a curve I wasn’t ready for. So I hope you like it!

A/N: I’ve been working on this fic for the past month and I’m so excited to finally share it with you guys! I tried to read a bit of norse mythology to make it as accurate as possible but have in mind I’m no expert on this topic. I should be updating it once maybe twice a week. Feedback is welcome. Enjoy!

- Einn -
Being a healer of the royal family was not an easy task. Having in your hands the life of not only the King, Queen and the Princes, but also the families of the court; was heavy duty. One that you have been prepared for your whole life.
Queen Frigga had taken you under her wing since you were a child. She was the one who discovered your healing abilities while you unconsciously healed a bird in her gardens. She had been watching you with curiosity in her eyes as you caressed the bird’s broken wing, and after a few minutes, set it free to fly away.
She made you her pupil from that very moment and that, eventually, lead you to train your magic alongside the Princes. Prince Thor never showed interest in the magic field, but he quickly considered you a friend of his. Whereas Prince Loki focused on his mother’s lessons and sometimes joined you in your child’s games. Although he was way more reserved.
As you turned into a young maiden, the Queen gave you a job as a healer in the palace’s infirmary. No longer being a servant, you learnt so much more and your abilities were exploited to the maximum. Always under the watch of the All-mother, she made sure you were doing well and kept teaching you everything she could. As long as her duties allowed her, of course.
It was a normal day at the infirmary. Healing stomach aches and small cuts from the kids that had too much to eat or too much fun while playing. Those kind of injuries were the most common ones, so without thinking, you began the procedure you had mastered all these years.
Placing some herbs in the boiling water, you poured a bit of your healing magic to potentiate their properties. Once it was ready, you placed the scalding water into a spray bottle and proceeded to attend your patient.
“Hello, child. Are you still feeling unwell?” You coo at the little boy who could not be older than five years old.
“Yes, miss.” He pouted as he rubbed his bloated tummy.
“Do not fret, this should help with the pain. Let me know if it’s too hot.” You explained.
You began to place some of the water while gently rubbing his tummy. The boy stiffened at your touch but soon relaxed at the warmth. After fifteen minutes you were done.
“My job here is done, but I recommend you to rest for the remainder of the day.” Smiling at him, he looked lively again.
“Thank you, miss!” With a small bow he stood up and ran away.
As you were packing your stuff away you heard movement outside the walls of the room and whispers began to arise amongst the other healers.
“…dead.”
“Frost giants.”
You only caught some bits from all the whispers. Curiosity got the best of you and right as you were about to go out and see for yourself what the fuss was about, a startled guard entered the room.
“Laufey is dead.”
Prince Loki paced in his chambers, deep in thought. The stiffness in his posture showed the tension he was feeling at the moment.
“If you keep that up you will make a hole on the floor.” Prince Thor’s sarcasm was not welcomed by the younger Prince, who shoot him a deathly glare.
“Loki, please talk to us. What is bothering you, dear?” Frigga’s voice flowed like silk through the air as she tried to comfort her son.
“Do you really want to know what is bothering me, mother?” Venom laced Prince Loki’s voice. Then, he continued talking.
“You know what this means. Laufey’s death.” His face contorted into one of concern adding years to him.
“I know it's a hard decision to make, but do not strain yourself. You have no obligation to do something you do not want.” The All-mother tried to reassure him.
“It is not an obligation but a right of mine as a Son of Laufey. One I am not planning to reject.” The firmness in Prince Loki’s voice earned a sigh of resignation from the Queen.
“I guess it is settled then.” The Queen gave Loki a last chance to change his mind.
“I will claim the crown that belongs to me and only me, Loki Laufeyson.”
Prince Thor and Frigga exchanged looks, concerned about the young Prince’s decision. They could only hope he knew what he was getting himself into.
After the guard announced that the King of Jötunheim was dead, gasps were heard all over the room. Everyone knew what this meant. Loki was next in line for the throne being a Laufeyson. You were a bit concerned about him. You liked to think you were acquaintances, so you knew how this would put a heavy weight on his shoulders, although he would never admit it.
Being distracted by your thoughts, you didn’t hear the door of the infirmary open.
“Child, I’m glad to see you are still here. I must have a word with you.” Queen Frigga’s voice took you by surprise.
“Your Majesty!” You turned to her, worry masking her face. “Of course, how may I be of help?”
“I believe you know what happened earlier today, right?” You nodded your head in agreement.
“I must confess I am deeply worried by Loki’s well being. He has made a decision that I’m not entirely sure it’s the right one.” Concern filled her eyes as she confined in you her deepest worries.
“Does this mean he has chosen to claim the throne?” You didn’t think he would accept it.
“I am afraid he did. But him traveling on his own and exposing himself to danger worries me to no end.” Tears welled up in her eyes. You had never seen her like that, so vulnerable.
Caring about the Queen as your own mother, you embraced and consoled her. You could not imagine how hard this must be for her, watching her son expose himself to imminent danger.
“I am sure Prince Loki is smart enough to defend himself.” You try to reassure her, but you don’t really know what could happen to him.
“Why does not someone go with him? Prince Thor perhaps?” You question her, trying to find a solution to her problems.
“I am afraid that is not possible, my dear. Thor has his own duties here on Asgard. But perhaps we could find someone else to go with Loki.” Frigga seemed to think for a moment until she turns to you with wide eyes. “Why don’t you go with him?” Her eyes shone with hope as she waited for your answer.
Your eyes widened in surprise. You? By the norns, when you suggested it you never thought it would be you.
“Me? Your majesty I do not mean to question you, but I do not think I’m fitted for this task.” You try to reason with her and find your way out of this.
“But child, you are a healer. What could be possibly better than a healer to look after Loki’s life?” Her excitement only made you feel worse.
“I-I don’t know anything about Jötunheim or the Jötnar, my Queen. I would be of no use. Their body and metabolism being totally different to Asgardian ones.” One last attempt wouldn’t hurt.
“That could be our excuse! Say that you wish to expand your knowledge and traveling with my son will help you learn about other races. It’s perfect!”
You were in deep shit now.
A knock was heard in the silent room. Loki looked up from his book and sighed.
“Who is it?” He didn’t even try to hide the annoyance in his voice.
“Your mother.” Frigga’s voice called back and took Loki by surprise.
The guards opened the doors and allowed the Queen into Loki’s chambers. Frigga could tell the distress his son was going through. A gentle smile made its way on her face and with a hand movement he gestured the prince to come closer.
“My son, you look troubled.” Her smooth voice eased Loki’s nerves. She always had a calming effect on him.
“I am troubled, mother. But not in the way you think. I am troubled because I must leave immediately to Utgard to claim the throne but I still don’t have a plan.” Rubbing his temples, he sighed in defeat.
“I’m sure you will come up with something. Now, there’s something I must speak with you, Loki. You remember Y/N, right? Our healer?” Loki looked confused at her question but nodded his head nonetheless. “Well, I suggested her to go with you so she could expand her knowledge about healing and magic with other creatures, like the frost giants.”
“You did what!?” Loki’s voice sounded alarmed. “You cannot be serious, she is not going. No one is going.”
“Son, her abilities are strong you have seen them before. It is a great opportunity for her to learn more than I can teach her. Furthermore, I’ll feel at ease knowing that someone I trust is there with you.” He looked away, not knowing what to say.
“Mother, I-I don’t…” He sighed in defeat as he looked at her mother’s eyes. She had won the battle.
Frigga’s smile was wide and bright. She embraced him in a tight hug and kissed his cheek. Loki smiled at her and kissed the back of her hand. He definitely had a soft spot for her.
“Thank you, my son. I knew you would understand. I should go and tell her the news. I’ll see you at supper.” With a wink she turned towards the doors and left.
Loki let himself fall backwards on his bed. What has he agreed to?

Stars Across the Pantheons
Part two! Hope you guys don’t hate me for the end of this part ;)
Thor ended up dragging you and his brother around the palace, showing you as much as he could before he ended in one of his favorite places; the training grounds. You smiled as kindly as you could. If he wished to fight you, you really were out of your league. Despite having Ares as an older brother, you didn’t enjoy fighting. You were much better suited studying with Athena, planting with Demeter, gossiping good-naturedly with Aphrodite. Maybe you were the wrong child of Zeus to come to Asgard with your father. Surely, one of your siblings would have been better suited for this, right?
However, he did not wish to fight you, rather, he wanted to show you how well the warriors of Asgard were and to ask you about the warriors and champions of Greece. That you could do easily.
“Many people believe Heracles to be the best hero we have had, but, if you ask for my humble opinion,” you cracked a smile, placing your hand overly delicately against your chest, “I believe that Achilles was the bravest. He took on so many enemies just to avenge someone he cared deeply about.”
“Did he?” questioned the blond, head tilted slightly with a cheesy smile. “You seem well versed in your land’s history.”
You shrugged. “It is...a hidden joy of mine, you could say.”
Throughout your abrupt and slightly chaotic tour, you had been watching Loki from the corner of your eye. As you said that, you saw him perk up slightly, looking at you curiously.
Thor’s eyes twinkled with what you could only think of as a bit of mischief at that time, however, you had no basis to confirm nor deny it. It did make you pause, though, and guard yourself against what he might be possibly thinking about. Loki didn’t seem too bothered.
The god of thunder’s hands clamped down on your shoulder and his brother’s, his grip tight but not nearly the uncomfortable weight that your father’s usually was. Instead, when he leaned in slightly between the two of you with a smile, you managed a smile back. He oddly reminded you of a few of your kinder siblings, teasing and playful and nice. Even despite his love for fighting, he was nowhere near the amount of war-crazy as Ares was.
“Unfortunately, I have training I must do today. I humbly apologize, Princess, I must take my leave of you.” He paused there, face falling into seriousness. “If Father asks, tell him that one of his warriors dragged me away and I had no choice.”
You stifled a giggle as he left, starting off by walking before bursting into a jog barely ten seconds after. You were now left with the dark-haired prince who had only been quiet, adding his two cents in whenever he felt like. Friendly wasn’t a word that you would use to describe him, but, perhaps, he would surprise you.
Your hands clasped in front of you as you waited for him to say anything, even rocking your weight back and forth from your heel to the balls of your feet. He remained stoic and still, nearly glaring at the floor in concentration. It was slightly unnerving, to say the least. Still, you waited. And waited and waited and wait-
“If you want to leave, just do it,” he snapped suddenly, his head now up to look at you coldly.
That was surprising. You assumed the way you had been fidgeting next to him was the cause of his annoyance and assumption that you wanted to leave. While Thor had been talkative and nice, his brother had stayed tucked behind a shell he’d created himself, not talking to you or engaging you in any way at all. You wanted to get to know him better and now was a chance to.
Unless he didn’t want to get to know you.
That was understandable. Who would want to get to know the person your parents had stuck you with, like a built-in babysitter?
“I am sorry if I bother you, Prince Loki.” You placed your closed hand against your chest and bowed at your waist. “If you wish, I will find my father and be out of your sight.”
He hesitated. Truthfully, you didn’t bother him, but you had to be here only because Thor had left and you felt obligated to stay. After all, you didn’t know your way around the palace and he did. That look on your face when you said you’d go back to your father, though...it made him wonder if Zeus happened to be worse than Odin. Somehow.
“Well,” his foot shuffled, scuffing at the polished floor. You only noticed because you were staring at the ground. “My brother failed to show every room in the palace...I could show you the library, if you would like.”
Lifting your head, you gave him a smile. “I would like that, my prince.”
Turning on his heel and you following at his side, Loki lead the way towards the rather gigantic library room in the Asgardian palace. You were used to Athena’s library. Seeing the ceiling high bookcases lined with numerous books of all sizes and with bindings of all covers, it was nearly overwhelming. You were sure your older sister would be fainting from the sheer amount of knowledge in the many languages that the Nine Realms held.
“I...I do not read these languages,” you said sheepishly, rubbing your bare arms as you stood in the doorway.
Loki turned, brows raised slightly as he watched your nervous behavior. “Well, that is a problem, is it not?”
There was a brief, awkward moment of silence before his eyes narrowed, confusion written over his face.
“You do know I could teach you if you wanted. But you do need to step inside the room.”
Quickly, cheeks flushed with embarrassment and nerves, you stepped into the room and shut the heavy doors behind you, following him again. He carefully and meticulously picked through a few of the books, fingers dragging over the leather bindings as he read the different titles. He was looking for a specific book, one that Frigga had read to him when he was just learning to read Norse. It shouldn’t be too hard to teach you to read from that one.
Once he found the book, he gestured for you to sit into a wooden chair that had an ornate pillow to sit on. It wasn’t quite what you were used to, but you weren’t going to say anything about it. It was actually very interesting to see what was different from Greece.
“This is a book my mother used to teach me to read Norse. If it gets too hard, just tell me, alright?”
You nodded, looking him in the eye for the first time since you met on the bridge. He seemed pleased enough by that, settling into a chair beside you and opening the book. It was actually simple, you found out, with him telling you and reminding you of the odd letters and what sound they made. He only lets you practice a couple pages, saying that it would be better to start slowly and accumulate your knowledge and learning of the language over time. You could possibly review it more and, therefore, would remember more.
As he placed the book away, Thor burst into the room, hair desheveled and looking nervous. You wouldn’t have said scared per se, but...he had definitely been talking to one or both of the king gods.
“Princess...your father and mine has asked for use to go see them.”
“Oh…,” you murmured, scrunching your nose up. “Do you know why?”
He shook his head, standing up straight outside the doors. “May we go? I do not think we want them to be angry with us.”
You nodded, standing up and smoothing out your toga. “Thank you, Prince Loki, I hope you may find the time so we may continue our study of your language.”
He nodded his head, an awkward aura settling around him before you left with his brother.
Your footsteps echoed as you followed quickly beside the god of thunder. His hand rested on your elbow to guide you, dropping it when you entered the throne room where his parents and your father stood waiting.
The smile on your father’s face only made you uncomfortable as you stopped where Thor did, waiting to see what these powerful gods might have to say to you.
You were not ready for what was said.
“Wonderful, I am so glad you are here so quickly,” Odin said, sitting up more in his throne. “What we have to discuss is very sensitive and of the most importance.”
“What is it?” Your voice was meek as you asked cautiously, not certain you wanted to know.
“We wish to discuss your future. More importantly, the future for the both of you.”
You and the blond god exchanged a worried glance towards each other before your father continued.
“I am so very pleased to share that toth of you will be betrothed, thereby uniting our pantheons!”
At that moment, you wondered if your jaw could truly hit the floor from the force that it fell.

For me, this whole Odin hates Loki, Loki hates Odin thing is just some family issue. Loki was mad at Odin for lying about his heritage, and everything else. And when he fell from the bifröst, it was actually just unfortunate that he was captured by Thanos. I never interpreted Odins 'No, Loki.' on the bridge as a 'he-gave-Loki-up'-thing. Loki probably interpreted it like that in this moment. We know that Loki is the sensitive type and he probably completely overreacted. He hadn't thought about the consequences, he probably hadn't thought at all. He had just reached the point where he thought that he did something unforgivable and that Odin would abandon him. But maybe, that wouldn't have been Odins intention. Just remember when Loki found out. He was shouting at Odin. Not Odin at Loki. Odin never stopped loving Loki, but Loki thought he did. Edit: I just took a look at the scene at the bifröst and Odin clearly said 'No...' in a way that shows that he never wanted to lose Loki as his son. All these 'my son's were meant serious towards Loki.
When Loki returned to Asgard after the battle of NY. You can say that this time, Odin was totally mad at Loki. I think, that he would have acted different when Loki wouldn't have fallen into the void. It clearly was Lokis decision to let go and this is what made Odin so angry. Because he probably knew that Loki was more intelligent than this. He actually even trusted Loki to take care of the Throne. Because Odin knew that his Odinsleep was lurking around the corner. So, why banishing Thor to earth when he knew that he would need a replacement for the time he would sleep? He knew that his wife would stay by his side or would give one of her sons the opportunity to show that they know what being a king means. A mother would show her trust in her children when she knows that they're ready. And Frigga did that. She handed the throne to Loki cause she knew that he would be capable of handling the situation. She trusted him. Odin probably knew that, too, but hadn't thought about the possibility that Loki found out who he really was during their visit on Jotunheim. He thought that he can send Thor to earth as a lesson to learn responsibility, still being able to hand the throne over to Loki in case he would pass out into Odinsleep. Heimdall probably told him after Loki had returned to the palace what had happened on Jotunheim and that he knew that something was wrong with him. Odin followed Loki into the vault, wanting to stop him from figuring out the truth. I don't say that Odin still wanted to keep it a secret, but he probably wanted to explain it to Loki, maybe he even told Frigga what happened, so she would talk to Loki about it. But Odin was to late when he entered the vault and Loki overreacted. He was mad, confused and just didn't knew what was going on. He is sensitive, so his emotions took over and prevented him from thinking and staying calm. Odin was also not prepared for this talk and he already was drained from not falling into Odinsleep. Lokis outburst at him was to much and he couldn't stop himself from passing out. Leaving Loki without any good explanation why he kept the adoption a secret. And it is like Loki said, talking never was their family's thing. He never really gave Odin the chance to give him an explanation. They've never talked about it.
So, when Loki returned to Asgard as a criminal. It's Odin who is mad. Mad at Loki for behaving like an idiot. For running away. For never giving him the chance to explain himself. He is completely mad at Loki for not even offering him the opportunity to talk about it. I think that Odin had been afraid of the thought that he lost Loki forever. After all, he raised him as his son, he loved him as his own son. I think that Odin even forgot that Loki actually wasn't his real son. And in the flashback in the vault, we can see this love. He raised both as kings. Thor as the king of Asgard and Loki as the king of Jotunheim. He hoped that at one point, that those two, raised as brothers, would be able to finally bring peace between those two realms. The only problem was, that he probably didn't know how. But anyway, I think that Odin was shouting at Loki because he couldn't express his feelings better and there is also the fact, that they were in public. There where guards and other people around, so he had to act like people expected him to. He sent him to prison as a punishment. Maybe Odin also knew that Loki had been controlled and just wanted to make sure that he would be completely free from any foreign influence before he would try to talk with Loki. Maybe that was also the reason, why Frigga visited him from time to time, to look how he was doing. Not only to talk to him about everything what happened, but also to make him stay sane. After all, Loki still loved her as his mother, but he lost all his hope that everything would turn back to normal. Personally, I think the fact, that Thor showed up to get Loki's help against the dark elves was the moment, when Loki started to hope again that everything could turn back to normal. He didn't wanted to disappoint his brother and did everything to keep Jane safe, he went so far to sacrifice himself to safe Thor's life. He probably just didn't calculate that he would survive this.
So, he decides to return to Asgard to tell Odin that he had died. He probably wanted to see the joy on Odins face. He wanted the confirmation that Odin stopped caring for him. But when he came back, he got a different reaction. He got a Odin who was still caring for him. A Odin who couldn't believe that one of his sons was dead. Odin did mourn him, probably showing his true face for the first time to someone who wasn't part of the family. I think that he started talking about Loki as his son, how he was never able to really talk to him, because they were both two big idiots. It's like Hela said, Loki sounds like Odin. Thor also said that Loki would be the better king. They both are right, cause Loki and Odin were similar. I can tell you from my own experience with my father, that this is realistic. All my friends say that we sound similar, but I have a completely different attitude than him. When we want to discuss something, it always ends in shouting at each other. We can't talk to each other on an equal level, cause we can't give in our argument. And it always ends with me, being completely mad at my father for the rest of the day or for the next few hours. I can relate to Loki not only because I know how this arguments can be like, but also because I am a sensitive person and also act without thinking in those moments. I need time on my own to proceed things and I think that it's the same with Loki. When he heard Odin talking about him with so much regret and emotions, he started to panic. I think that Odin probably said something like that he would have been a good king if he just would have listend. That he could have changed Asgard. That Thor could have lived on Midgard with Jane if Loki wouldn't have died. If everything hadn't gone so terrible wrong. That Loki would have got the chance to prove himself as the king of Asgard while Thor was away.
All this confessions made Loki insecure about his plan to disappear and hiding from Thanos. Odin probably knew that the guard was Loki, cause he knew this guard pretty well and he also knew that no one went to Svartalfheim since Heimdall had betrayed him and disappeared. I think the moment where Loki showed up as the guard and Odin says his name, it is not only the fact that he knows who had died, but I think that he also wanted to greet him. I can only theorise what had happened, but either Odin knew that it was Loki standing in front of him or Loki felt sorry and let his illusion fall. In this case, Odin also told him that he is to old for being king and that Thor probably won't show up in the near future to take over the throne. Odin indirectly implies that he gives Loki the throne, cause Frigga still had trusted him and believed in him. Loki puts Odin under the spell, hides them under an illusion and brings his adoptive father to earth so that he can live peacefully during his last years. Alone the fact that Odin just let Loki stay in his position as king of Asgard after he broke the spell, shows, how much he has still trusted him. He could have returned to Asgard, but he didn't. He stayed on Midgard.
Everything was fine from that moment. They had settled out their differences, their misunderstandings. Loki ruled Asgard in the name of Odin and did a good job.
The moment where Loki and Odin meet each other in Norway again after four years and Odin tells Loki that it took him a while to break free from his spell, you can see how sorry he was for him, but also surprised that he admits his skill, also when he says that Frigga would have been proud. But I also interpret this as Odin's way to tell Loki that he is proud of him. I think that in the end, they both came over their dispute and rage on each other. Both were just two stubborn idiots who actually still loved each other as father and son. And even when Odin preferred Thor over Loki, he still loved him and I bet that Frigga sometimes preferred Loki over Thor, because that's how family works. You have fights, you have up and downs, you have times where you just hate each other. Nothing is ever perfect and I think that Odin had learnt his lesson with Hela, so, he didn't wanted to make the same mistake twice and abandon one of his sons. I think, the line '...who melted this old fool's heart.', can be interpreted as a statement from Odin that he never gave Loki up even when it looked like it. Yeah, it's a line in the play, but why should Loki choose such a line when it isn't the truth? And Odin says it: He loves both his sons.
That's the way how I interpret their relationship. I never saw it like others see it as some kind of 'Loki completely broke up with Odin as his father' and the fact that he calls himself 'Odinson' in IW doesn't show that he had accepted Odin as his father, it just shows that he never considered himself a Laufeyson. He even killed Laufey and the only reason he hesitates in front of Thanos is, because he wanted it to be dramatic and made sure that Thor knows that he always would be his brother. The assumption that Loki would call himself no longer Odinson after he discovered that he is adopted is completely bullshit. Yes, he tells Thor, Frigga and Odin that they're not his parents/brother, but wouldn't that be a normal reaction of someone who suddenly finds out that he is adopted? The problem with Loki in this case was that no one talked to him properly, telling him that nothing would change, that he would still be their son no matter what would happen.
Edit: This is just ONE way how I interpret Loki's and Odin's relationship as father and son. I have other interpretations as well. But this is my favourite of them all.

“Darling, I hate to wake you, but we need to be leaving soon,” Loki’s voice woke you the next morning. You actually opened your eyes, instead of just snuggling closer against him, since he wasn’t actually in the bed. You had to see where he was. You sat up and soon had a giant plate of breakfast in your lap, courtesy of the silly Trickster boyfriend. You smiled up at him. You rubbed the sleep from your eyes and saw that it was just barely dawn.
You opened your mouth to ask Loki if he’d eaten, but shut it again, frustrated that you’d forgotten. You really didn’t want to knock Loki out again. He would get annoyed if you kept doing it, no matter if it was an accident. You really needed to get rid of this power ASAP. It was nothing but trouble, which is exactly what Balder wanted. He had wanted you to be dependent on him as the only person you could communicate with. You weren’t going to let him win, you just needed to remember that you had to keep your mouth shut. [Have you eaten?] you signed at Loki. You didn’t want to use telepathy right now, just in case he did need to borrow power from you to teleport across the realm.
“I have,” he replied. You gave him a look. He lied too often and too well. “No tricks,” he added with a chuckle. You accepted his word then and dug into your breakfast. Thor burst back into the room from the bathroom while you were eating. You was just glad he had put pants on. Loki looked equally relieved. He was wearing a different outfit, so you assumed Loki had conjured some new clothes for them both. They didn’t have any bags or anything. You finished your breakfast and got out of the bed, automatically checking to make sure your dagger sheath was in place. “Kat…” Loki started. You looked over at him, giving him your undivided attention. He only used your real name when he had something important or difficult to say. “If you are up to it, there is one more slight deception we should do…” he started.
“Just ask her, Brother. I am sure she will agree,” Thor grumbled as he finished putting on his shirt and started on his armor. Loki hesitated, so Thor continued instead. “It is a good idea for you to appear in front of the court when you get back to the palace as though you just escaped from Balder. In the same dress and condition we found you in. It will gain our position against Balder favor with the court and those hiding there who might be sympathetic towards his cause. Much as you do not want to admit it, sister, you are a favorite among the court, especially when they can see how you have tamed Loki,”
“She has not tamed me!” Loki protested and spluttered.
You laughed at that.  You couldn’t help it.  He looked like a drowned cat when he spluttered like that.
“They will be horrified by what Balder did to you and took from you, but they will also appreciate your strength for escaping, especially if we can show them exactly what condition you were in when you escaped,” Thor explained carefully. It was strange to hear him speak so calculatingly. He wasn’t jovial for once and was actually serious, and speaking like the heir to the throne.
[You want you to lie to them?] you signed. You were trying to save your magic for helping Loki teleport us across the realm. Loki translated instead of just answering you himself, which was very considerate of him.
“Not lie,” Thor hedged. “I am not asking you to exaggerate or lie, just to show them what he did to you,” he added. You nodded and used magic and a couple well placed illusions with the help of the mirror in the room to get the look correct. You were back in the torn, dirty, shift dress, barefoot, with illusion injuries on your wrists from the manacles, your feet from walking through the woods, and your face and split lip from where Balder had hit you. your hair was a dirty, tangled mess.
[Happy?] you signed at them as you went to pick up Loki’s cloak from where it was draped over a chair.
“Thank you,” Thor replied, catching the gist without Loki’s help.
“Darling, does it not defeat the point if you steal my cloak?” Loki asked gently.
You shook your head as you fastened it around your shoulders. /You love me too much/ you projected the telepathy so Thor could hear too. /The court will believe that you would choose to use magic to get you home faster instead of fixing my clothes and appearance first. They will not believe that you would not give me your cloak at the very least before you teleport us across the realm/
“She is correct, Brother,” Thor replied.
Loki sighed came over to you and settled the cloak over your shoulders and fastened it for you. “I love you, darling, and I will do my best to make sure this ordeal with the court is over quickly.” you nodded and hugged him. “You crafted your illusions through the soulbond, didn’t you?” he asked with a chuckle. You nodded. Crafting them that way meant that Loki could touch them and they wouldn’t break. Illusions generally didn’t survive physical contact. “We should get going. Thor, will you be alright until Father arrives?” Loki asked, looking over you to Thor.
Thor rolled his eyes in reply. “How many missions is this, and still my little brother worries over my safety?"
You laughed at the familiar line.
"We will see you back at the palace,” Loki replied instead of dignifying that with an answer.
“Get her home safely, Brother,” Thor replied.
[Are you sure you don’t need help?] you signed at Loki.
“Actually, that is a better idea, darling,” Loki smiled and kissed the top of your head. He pulled out a familiar spellbook and looked for the spell. “You do not need to say the words, just call up your magic and think them,” he added when he found the spell and held open the book in front of you so you could both see it. “Thor, when you and Father are done, let me know and I will open a portal for you,“ Loki instructed. "I could not open a portal to you yesterday, since I had to use the soulbond to find your exact location. We can use one to go home, though, since we know where home is,” he explained to you. You nodded. That made sense.  You liked it when the magic made sense.
“Get home safely,” Thor bid you. You waved to him and turned back to the spell. You and Loki both recited it, though your recitation was silent. You felt the power drain from both of you into the portal, but it was much less than it would have been trying to do the spell alone. The portal flashed to life in front of you. You stepped through and it snapped shut behind you again the instant you were through.
You ended up right outside of the throne room. You both paused to catch your breath before continuing. “Ready?” Loki asked you softly. You straightened your spine and nodded. You needed to show them that even though you looked like hell, you were still their princess and still a strong capable warrior.
Loki opened the door to the throne room and you both strode inside. There were gasps of shock and horror as you made your way to the thrones. Sif jumped to her feet when she saw me, Frigga was close behind, though more slowly, as she still had to maintain her regal air. you noticed as you was walking that one of your feet was leaving a blood trail. Oops. Apparently you had actually cut it during your hike through the woods yesterday. It must’ve reopened at some point.
Loki was following you in guard position, just as he had done through your junior year of high school. This was your show, your story. He was here for support. /You’re bleeding/ he thought at you.
/Apparently/ you replied. /Will you fix it after this?/ you asked. You couldn’t heal yourself. You could only heal others.  It was the one limitation of your healing abilities.
/Of course/
Sif ran off of the dais that the thrones were on to wrap you in a hug. “Kat! You’re ok. We were so worried!” she exclaimed. You nodded and hugged her back. Frigga joined you an instant later.
“Daughter, I am glad you are safe,” she said as she wrapped you in a hug next.
/Thank you/ you used telepathy to speak to them both.
“What Loki reported is true, then? Balder used some kind of magic to turn your voice into a weapon?” Frigga asked gently.
You nodded. /Shall I show them?/ you asked.  You needed her permission to terrify the court.  It was a whole big thing of being royal.
/Are you up to it?/ she replied telepathically.
/I am. They need to know/
“I would hear your testimony, daughter. Show us what happened,” Frigga ordered loudly enough to be heard by the members of the court. She and Sif went back to their places. You stood below their thrones with Loki, who held your hand, a silent offer to feed you power if you needed it, as well as offering you support.
You closed your eyes in concentration and summoned the magic for this, and used illusion to play back your memories as a movie for the entire court to see. It was the same set of images you had shown to Loki and Thor the day before. You heard the gasps of horror and people wanting to disbelieve, but they couldn’t, not with the evidence standing before them.
“Thank you for your testimony, daughter,” Frigga said once the playback of your memories was over. You sagged against Loki. Your job here was finished, and that was two big spells you had done in a short period of time. He wrapped an arm around you, keeping you on your feet. “Loki, take your soulbond to the healers. We will discuss this further later,”
Loki bowed to Frigga, then swept you up into his arms, wrapped securely in his cloak. /I am taking you to the suite, not the healers, do not fear/ he thought at you. You just laid your head on his shoulder in reply. You only had one wound that needed healing and he could do it himself. You closed your eyes as he carried you home, content in his cool arms.
“You can drop the illusions now, darling,” Loki told you once you were safely in the family wing, away from prying eyes. You dropped the illusions then so they weren’t draining your power. “What on Midgard did you do to your hair?” he asked gently when your bird’s nest didn’t go back to normal when the rest of the illusions vanished. “This will take me forever to fix,” he whined, but it was a show. He loved playing with your hair and brushing it. Yes, he would be annoyed at all of the tangles, but he would enjoy fixing it. You just laughed in reply. When you got to the suite, he set you down on the couch so he could kneel in front of you to heal your foot. You kissed him when he had finished.
After you got a way too hot shower and dressed in pajamas you was fairly certain were stolen from Loki’s closet on Earth, he spent an hour brushing out the tangled mess your hair had become. It took an effort of magic, the hairbrush, and a generous amount of curse words, but he finally got it back to soft curls down your back. Once he was finished with that, you grabbed his hand to drag him from the suite. “Darling, where are you dragging me?” he asked, but didn’t try to stop me.
/Library/ you replied. /We have to figure out how Balder created these/ you pulled the power sphere you had stolen from Balder from where you had vanished it earlier, holding it to Loki so he could see it.
“Very well,” he replied. “But wait a moment,” you paused and dropped his hand. He used magic to summon real clothes for you instead of pajamas. It was a very simple casual dress. You would have protested, but you did have to pay attention to propriety when you were wandering the palace during the day. You walked together to the library and soon had a huge pile of books in front of you both to try to find out any information you could about the power spheres. Especially how to get the power back out of you.

The woman who stood before you pulled the hood of her cloak down off her hair, letting it fall.  The dark curls were streaked with bits of gray. Just with your father, the lines of her face were more noticeable.  “[Y/N], my child you look lovely.  Your hair, far longer than I have ever seen it.”
“I have not been ‘your child’ in years.  You ensured that declaration was seen by all.  Or do you not remember?”  The venom in your statement could not be missed.  She stood before you wincing at the memory of that horrid day.
“It is not something I have forgotten.  I have remembered every day since I made that mistake.  I know you do not want me here…”  She attempted to take a step forward, but the glare you gave her had her thinking better of it.  As your anger, staring at the woman who birthed you grew, so did the golden glow that emanated from your right hand, as it hung as your side.  Her eyes widened at the sight.
“My darling…”  Loki shifted closer to you, resting a hand on your back. It was his attempt at diffusing your anger lest you should harm someone.  He did not know how truly in control you were at this moment.  Looking over your shoulder at him, you smiled.
“I am in control.  If I was not… all of room would be falling upon us.”  He nodded before stepping back next to his brother.  Both men crossing their arms over their chests with menacing gazes. They were prepared to do what was necessary to protect you, even if it meant removing the offending woman.
Looking back to your mother, you saw she still watched the glow of your hand.  As you opened your mouth to speak, another voice called from behind you.  “You dare come to this place?  After all the hurt you had caused?”
Frigga’s anger seethed through her words as your mother bent her head and kneeled low.  “My Queen, I came to see my daughter.  I need to…”
“Your needs mean nothing here.”  Frigga stalked up to her, as your mother rose glancing fearfully and wringing her hands. “The destruction you caused…  The pain to [Y/N] I cannot bear to think of… Not to mention you were my closest of friends, yet you could not tell me the appalling binding you had done to your daughter…  She nearly killed herself and my son when her powers broke free of the tonic.  How dare you leave a defenseless girl to find her way after being a captive of so long.  It took months for me to teach her to control what had become a torrent inside her.  Even longer for the confidence, you had ripped from her to return.  Give me reason, Geira, not to slit your throat myself just to watch your blood stain this floor.”
It was the angriest the three of you, her children, had even seen.  The normally peace loving and encouraging woman would never had threatened the life of another.  This day, was different.  Frigga’s gaze was clouded by red, as she saw this woman as a danger to one of her children. Geira took another step back in her fear as the furious Queen stood before her.
“I have no reason, my Lady.  The things I have done…  They cannot be undone.  My desire is only to offer my apology to, [Y/N].  I am undeserving of forgiveness but… [Y/N] deserves to know my utter regret.” She had shrunk back further and her words quiet as she peered between the faces of those who she had once held dear.
Frigga looked back to you, giving you the opening to decide how to proceed. “[Y/N], my girl, what would you have us do?  As much as my sons and I wish to remove her from existence, this is for you to decide.”
A snicker escaped before you could stop it.  The thought of the three of them murdering and hiding your mother’s body was humorous.  You would not have her blood on their hands though.  If anyone were to drain the last bits of life from her corpse, it would be you. Loki and Thor looked at each other with similar thoughts of dragging you from the room to let Frigga have her wish, but both stood waiting for you.  “I will deal with her.  I wish for you three to return to the merriment, please.  Allow me my time to do what I must.”
“[Y/N], allow me to stay… I trust this woman not after the horrible things she had done to you.”  Loki stepped towards you, pulling you into his arms to cup your face.  “I will not have you hurt again.  I swear to the Allfather of it.”
Kissing his lips lightly before pulling out of his grip, you smiled.  “I can and will care for myself, Loki. Thor, my friend, take your mother and brother back to the feasting hall.  There is much to discuss with… this woman.”  There would be no saying ‘my mother’ in front of her or Frigga for that matter.  Frigga truly had been the maternal figure when you needed it.  Thor nodded taking Loki’s arm before looking over to his mother.
“Mother… [Y/N] has asked us to part.”  Frigga walked towards you resting her hand on your cheek with a sigh. There was much behind her eyes but left it all unsaid.  She slipped her arms through her sons and walked with them out of the throne room with a fleeting thought that perhaps you would end that horrible woman.
“[Y/N], my thanks to you for this.  I can only pray that you would hear what I have to say.  After, do with me what you will.”  Standing a moment, you looked her over.  Geira… the wife of Theinn, and once close friend of Queen Frigga.
“None of this I do for you.  I do it merely for the answers I seek and once I have them I want you to depart. Never again to stand in my presence.” Those words hit Geira hard.  It was not difficult to see the pain that they caused.  Exactly how you intended it.
“I understand.  I know one of the questions.  I visited your father at the Keep.  He told me of your visit and what you spoke of.  Theinn is furious with me as well, of my secrets I kept from him… from you.” This news astonished you.  Your father, angry with his wife over the wrong done to you over the many years.
“How long did you feed me that tonic?  How many nights did I scream and cry so you could keep my powers hidden?” The sad smile on her face told you much.
“I took the tonic while you grew within me.  I continued with drinking it while you fed from my breast.  Once you weened… I forced it upon you.  I could not risk…  I would not risk your safety.  I had not the powers of my mother.  That was a miracle from the Gods.  My mother and many of her mothers before her possessed those abilities and were killed because of them.  You were too precious to me.”  Shaking your head the anger only welled further.
“You gave me no choice.  No choice in how my life would be with these powers.  Did you not think of what would happen once I was bound to another and birthed my own family?  I would never have let you force that tonic on them as you did me.  What would have happened then?”  You started to pace back and forth, the train of your gown trailing behind you.
“I… I knew not.  Someday it would come out, that was evident but… my hope was that it would be something to work towards.  I knew not if you had the abilities, [Y/N].”  If she had been giving you the tonic even in the womb then it was no surprise that she knew nothing of your abilities.  That ones that had manifested themselves you had kept from her.
“Oh they were there.  The tonic never completely hid them.  I have had visions as far back as my memories take me.  I kept that from you in fear of what you would do to me.  The fear of ruining the path you and father were forcing upon me.”  There were tears filling her eyes but you would not back down.  Too much had time to fester over the years.
“I… you would be the strongest of them all.  Too strong for what I tried to keep you from.  I have heard of your deeds for Asgard, even far off in my village. Victor of the Last Battle, Captain of the Defenders, and Champion of Asgard.  So many titles, [Y/N].  You have the love of the Prince; of course, not the one we had planned but a prince no less.  Time has been good to you, my daughter.”  As Geira tried to change the course of the discussion, the anger the words incited was almost too much for you to handle.
“Good to me?  Good to me? You know nothing of what time has been to me.  I was thrown from my home by the king because I was the daughter of a traitor.  Not even the Queen could convince him to let me stay.”  The glow had now enveloped your entire body as your voice rose.  “Everything I knew was gone.  My family, my home, the only course you would allow me to dream of. Thor was the only constant in my miserable existence.”
She stood there taking in every word you screamed at her, body still as she could keep it.  Her heart needed to feel your anger and hurt.  Though she knew that it was not completely her fault, much of it was and Geira would take the fallout from it.  You raged on for several more minutes before you realized how hard you had started to cry. Every piece of every emotion you had felt over the last years came out.  She took it all without a word until you finally broke.  The energy had become too much, it had to be released.  Turning quickly you screamed as you let a volley from your hand to a statue steps away.  It was of one of the royal family’s distant relatives and rather ugly. It had petrified you as a young one, now it felt satisfying watching it explode into pieces.  You only hoped that Odin would not be too displeased at its destruction.
“My words will mean little to you… I will still say them.  [Y/N], with every fiber of my soul, the regret of everything I did and said, consume me.  There will never be enough words to express it.  But please know this is how I feel.”  Turning back to look at her, you could not speak.  There was so much more you wanted to say to hurt her in every way possible but something inside you kept it from erupting.  It may have been the last shred of compassion you felt for her.
“I cannot look at you any longer this eve.  What was supposed to be a celebration and merriment has turned into something that I no longer wish to think about.”  You left her standing there, watching as you stalked off towards your chambers.  Closing off the rest of the realm, you needed to space and time to think.  Though you were sure that Loki would not allow you, too much of either when he found you had left your mother standing alone in the throne room.
The morn came quickly as you had slept terribly when you were finally able to slumber.  As you rose, readying for training with your soldiers, a knock on your door brought you back to the present and away from your thoughts of the previous eve.  Loki could see the weariness in your eyes and wanted nothing more than to hold you while your body was given the time it needed to rest.  However, you were stubborn and would only do so once your duties were complete.  He followed you out to the training fields trying to make you laugh.  Odin was none too pleased with the remnants of the statue.  His face had been one that Loki had wished you would have seen, as it made him and Thor laugh loudly.  The Allfather had cooled quickly though after finding the reason for your outburst.
Training that morning you ensured would distract your thoughts enough away from Geira.  The drills had been longer and more difficult than before.  By the end of training, you and the Defenders were dripping and exhausted. If felt good to work the muscles that had been left unused for so long.  Though, a hot bath would be in order to relax them this eve.  As you walked through the corridors from the training yard, you could feel eyes upon you.  Watching as you moved towards the palace.
“Do not hide, I could find you easily if I desired.”
“I did not believe you wished to see me.  I merely wanted to see the tenacious leader you had become.”  Geira stepped out from behind one of the pillars with a tentative smile.  Your hands gripped the hilts of your blades as they hung at your waist.
“Did you see what you came for?”  The sheer exhaustion that wracked your body kept your temper at bay.
“I saw that and much more.  I thought I would see your father in your movements.  I did not.  Nothing of you and how you lead is of Theinn.”  Narrowing your eyes in confusion, you canted your head.
“Your father… he was respected and feared.  His temper, which you know well, kept those all in line.  You, [Y/N], lead in a way that… well if see it from my eyes, they would die for you.  Fight… bleed and die at your command.  They follow your words… your actions, knowing you would do the same for all of them. All because of who you are and what you have built within your soul.”
A lump started to grow in your throat, as you glanced down at the ground beneath your boots.   The word barely came as a whisper but Geira heard it clearly. “Why?”
“Oh my child… I am weak and afraid.  I have never had your constitution.  My husband was wrong in his ideas against Odin.  I knew it then but I never spoke against him.  When he was dragged away… my world was crumbling. I was losing everything I ever knew. My anger at him and myself spilled forth with you before me.  I hate myself that I could not stand against something I knew to be so wrong.  Yet there you were standing for your beliefs against your own blood.”
She stepped to you, resting a hand upon your shoulder.  “[Y/N], nothing of it was your doing.  No wrong fell upon you; it was my faults that made me hate myself. Lashing out at you was a madness I regretted every moment since.  I could not come crawling back to beg forgiveness, I knew I deserved it not. Remember this child, none of mine or your father’s actions were of your cause.  We committed the horrible deeds and forever will it haunt us.”
Looking up from the ground, the tears streamed, as you were unable to keep them.  Geira’s face read easily as an open tome craving your forgiveness.  It was not the time you could give it to her, not yet.  “I need to go.”
Your mother nodded, her hand falling to her side as she stepped back. The sound of your boots against the flooring echoing in the halls as you retreated as fast as you could.  Without a thought, you found yourself in front Loki’s door.  He answered after two knocks smiling at seeing you but realizing you had been crying.
“My darling, what is it?  Who do I need to crush for hurting you?”  Holding your face, he searched your eyes for answers.  You pushed him inside closing the door with your foot.  The kiss that followed was hard and heated.  The need for you to feel something other the pain of the past, consumed you.
Loki pulled back for a moment breathing heavy and trying to determine what this was leading to.  “This is not you here with me, this is something else.  What is it, [Y/N]?”
You shook your head and lead him towards his bedchamber.

“My lord, you’re too kind,” Sif smiled up towards Thor. He booped her nose and smiled back down at her.
“I am not. I only tell the truth. You are the most beautiful woman of the nine kingdoms,” Thor kissed her gently. I looked over to Loki to see him giving me the same, disgusted face. Ever since we arrived here, Sif and Thor have been displaying their love for all of House Brax to see. Secrets tyrsts, quick disappearances, and hushed words between them. It was all annoying.
Loki took my hand and squeezed it. He entered the meeting room, and guards closed the door. Somehow I didn’t feel anxious or angry. Sif and I stayed inside, watching the clouds take over the mountainous sky. It hadn’t been two hours until I saw Loki walk through the doors again.
Thor followed and went to Sif. They kissed and giggled in each other’s arms. Loki shared a look with me, and shifted his eyes towards the door. I nodded and followed him, taking his arm. He guided me down the hallway towards the main courtyard. Men were walking everywhere, packing things, readying horses and wagons.
“We’re leaving?” I asked him. “So soon?”
“Yes,” Loki started. “We’re leaving tonight.”
“Tonight? You mean to travel by night? Isn’t that dangerous?”
“Yes and no. It’s a risk, but my men can handle anything. I know it’s very sudden, but it’s part of my plan.”
“Which is?” I stopped in front of some House Brax men. Their purple unicorn banners waved in the cold wind.
“I’ll tell you, but not now,” Loki turned me around and we entered our bedroom together. “Ever since our wedding, I have been particularly paranoid about traitors and spies. I’ve had my own men listen and watch carefully, but even then I can’t be sure. I do promise to tell you, but not until we are far from here.”
“That’s fair,” I nodded. Because of one man with a horse, my home was threatened. People died that night. Sif lost her septa that night. Fear was the first thing on my mind every day, and I’m sure it was the first thing on his. “The meeting only took you two hours.”
Loki chuckled. “You’re wondering how it could have been so impossibly short.”
“Yes.”
“Because I was leading the meeting,” Loki smiled. “Highgarden is full of smart, old men. All of them want to talk. All of them have ideas. Here, I’m the one with ideas. I talk. Other men listen to me. This is what happens when you put me in charge.”
Loki sat back in a chair. He elevated his feet on a small table, and smiled up at me. He was proud. His ego seeped into the chair and dripped onto the ground. I walked over to the fireplace shaking my head.
“You think you’re smarter than my father’s men.”
“I know I’m smarter than your father’s men,” Loki’s smile stretched to his ears. I put my hands to my hips.
“My father and his men have more experience in the field than you do.”
“And somehow my father gave me an army to lead in a rebellion. Did your father have an army when he was my age?”
“Well no,” I stuttered out. I hated it when he was right. “But why should that prove that you are more intelligent than my father? Surely, intelligence should be measured on how a man leads his men, not how many he leads or when he does it.”
Loki’s smile faded. “That’s a strong assessment, Lia.” He stood up from his chair. His thumb pressed against his lower lip. He smiled at me. I couldn’t tell what kind of thoughts he was having.
“So you agree?” I asked him, watching him come closer.
“I do,” Loki looked me over. “I keep underestimating you. You are clearly much smarter than you let off. Perhaps my mother was right.”
“Right about what?”
“That we could be happy together after all,” Loki gave me a warm smile. After this month of travelling and a week here in Hornhill, Loki and I have grown closer. We are not as close as Thor and Sif, and I’m not sure if we will ever get there, but the small steps were easy.
My mother was partially right. Loki was the Dark Prince. I saw him leading his men, punishing them. He even talked down to me. He used magic against me. I read his journals. I heard his stories. However, that was not my husband. That was not the Loki I was growing to know.
After we packed our things into wagons and bags, we thanked Lord Brax for his hospitality and left his home. He and Loki shared a look between them that said something along the lines of ‘good luck’ or some understanding that this war will carry on successfully.
For safety reasons, Loki and I dressed in disguise as common people and rode in a wagon carrying furs and pelts. Travelling at night in the nine kingdoms was already a dangerous risk. Loki proved himself to be clever, and he believed in his men. This could work.
I was wrapped in a cloak that one of Loki’s knights lent to me. Elise lent me one of her dresses to wear. I watched Elise’s eyes follow the stars as she and Fandral shared a horse. They looked so in love. Her blonde curls moved slowly as the party moved north.
“Are you feeling alright?” Loki asked me. His hands at ease on the reins of the horses.
“Yes. Why do you ask?”
“You were staring at them again,” Loki nodded towards Fandral and Elise. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“No, I was thinking how happy I was for them,” I continued. “Elise deserves to be happy.”
“Deserves to be? Did something happen?” Loki moved closer to me.
“Years ago, Elise admired someone. She thought it was love until he—
“Dishonored her?” Loki finished the sentence. “I’m afraid I know that story all too well.”
“Thor enjoy women. He must have broken many hearts over the years.”
“I wasn’t talking about Thor,” Loki explained to me. “I was talking about Fandral.”
“Fandral? What do you mean?” Loki sighed deeply and looked to the sky for a moment, then in front of him.
“I shouldn’t tell you this. I shouldn’t be telling you any of this,” Loki looked to me. “But I did promise honesty. It’s true. Growing up, Thor did enjoy female company, but Fandral enjoyed it even more so. Sometimes he would have a different girl every week. He would dance with lots of girls during feasts and kiss them underneath the stars.
Fandral has broken many girls’ hearts. One even went as far as begging her parents to let her marry him. He said no, of course, but it broke her. I watched her eyes fall to the ground and her heart collapse and shatter into pieces.”
I looked to Elise. Her arms wrapped around Fandral. “She came here for him.”
“I don’t know what his intentions are with Elise.”
“Do you?” I asked him sharply. “She is my best friend in the entire world. If her hearts breaks again, I will ruin him.”
“Like I said,” Loki assured me. “I think this rebellion is changing him. At first, he did not like me, but during the battle, we worked together to find both of you. Fandral wanted to find Elise. I don’t know what his intentions are, but I believe he wouldn’t hurt her.”
“Do you know him well?”
“No, but—
“So how can you know his intentions then?” I narrowed my eyes at Loki. He looked forward again.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized. I huffed and stared at Elise and Fandral. She had fallen asleep on his back. His cloak covered her. It was turned backwards so the insignia was hidden. Watching Elise sleeping made my eyes heavy. “You can go to sleep if you’d like.”
“You wouldn’t mind?” I rubbed my eyes, trying to stay awake. The night was dark, and the furs were so warm.
“No, go ahead, but may I ask one thing of you?” he inquired. I hummed in response. “Could you stay here with me? I like your presence.”
“Of course,” I smiled warmly. After shifting furs around, I laid in them, placing my head next to Loki. I watched him quietly guide the horses as our party continued down the same path north. The wagon rocked and creaked somewhat. I looked back up to Loki and admired hi wide-awake green eye stared forward. He looked back down at me and smiled.
“Go to sleep, Lia,” his hand ran through my hair. It was calming. I let the weight of my eyes close. The gentle night sounds took over, and soon I drifted to sleep.
:Loki’s POV:
I watched her heavy eyes shut slowly. She was fighting her exhaustion so hard. She fought a lot of things so far. Cecelia was an interesting one to say the least. She had a mouth, but she never let an ill word out. My hand went through her h/c hair. It helped her drift off into sleep.
She looked at peace which is more than I could say about myself. However, she helped make this rebellion slightly easier. I don’t think I could do this all alone, and if I did I would be an idiot.
I looked over at Cecelia again. Her even breathing let me know she was really asleep. I pulled up the furs to cover her face more, so she could be warm. I watched her body slightly shift to adjust herself. Her hair was so soft, and she smelled of a sweet autumn. Apples and sugar.
Perhaps mother was right.
“Loki, you need to trust me. You will fall in love with her. I know it!” Frigga assured me.
“I’m already in love! Why do I have to marry her?”
“We need allies, Loki,” Frigga grabbed my arm. “We need to win this. Don’t you understand? Lady Cecelia is much more than you think she is.”
I touched Cecelia’s hair again. She was so much more than I thought she was. Much more. I looked ahead of me and thought of my upcoming plans. If I was going to take the Eyrie, I was going to do it my way, but I’ve made mistakes. I’m not going to make those mistakes again.
Lia will be protected this time. I wrote it all down. I figured it out. She will not run from me. She will be safe and sound, and she will be okay. I promised her father I promised her. I had a duty as her husband. No, not a duty. This was something I wanted to do. I felt something by my hip.
I looked down to see Lia grabbing at my pants leg. She held onto it. My fingers caressed her face. Her cheeks were soft and warm. The elegant shape of them was even pleasing to touch.
“Oh Lia,” I whispered to her. “How slowly you are bewitching me.”
