roy headcanons please!!
thank u for curating such a perfect ask mwah
he's obsessed with reality shows. it's not an everyday watch for him, but when his brain gets a bit loud or he feels a little out of sorts, he puts on a series of love island and just switches his brain off
contrastingly, i think he's a bit of a history nerd. it's a vibe i get from him. i think he'd be really into documentaries about the ancient egyptians and the tudors and stuff like that
he has a bunch of non-fiction books piled along his shelves, mixed in with some classical fiction too. i see him being a fan of the likes of ian mcewan (atonement) and he likes to discuss them with the yoga mums
speaking of, he's in a whatsapp group with them and it's the only place he'll use an abundance of emojis
when he texts, he uses proper punctuation and perfect grammar, and it pisses the likes of jamie off to no end because no one can discern his tone
roy is a very fucking good cook, and gets invited to go on celebrity masterchef more than once
the first time phoebe goes to a school disco, he cries looking at her in her little dress. his sister takes a photo which somehow the whole of afc richmond gets hold of and the next time he goes in for training, there's a thousand pictures of him ugly sobbing staring back at him
roy has a very specifically curated library of spotify playlists, and they all have one word titles. happy. sad. angry. horny.
(keeley. jamie. and one with the title <3)
its a sleepover!

"A story doesn't need a theme in order to be good" I'm only saying this once but a theme isn't some secret coded message an author weaves into a piece so that your English teacher can talk about Death or Family. A theme is a summary of an idea in the work. If the story is "Susan went grocery shopping and saw a weird bird" then it might have themes like 'birds don't belong in grocery stores' or 'nature is interesting and worth paying attention to' or 'small things can be worth hearing about.' Those could be the themes of the work. It doesn't matter if the author intended them or not, because reading is collaborative and the text gets its meaning from the reader (this is what "death of the author" means).
Every work has themes in it, and not just the ones your teachers made you read in high school. Stories that are bad or clearly not intended to have deep messages still have themes. It is inherent in being a story. All stories have themes, even if those themes are shallow, because stories are sentences connected together for the purpose of expressing ideas, and ideas are all that themes are.
