Can I just say, I really appreciate how Critical Role plays the Devil trope straight. There's been this phenomena in a lot of modern media (I'm not going to mention specifics but I'm sure a few examples pop up in people's minds) where Hell and the Devil aren't scary or malevolent forces. Hell is portrayed as being basically the same as our world just "edgier", and the Devil is a pretty decent guy actually. Heaven are secretly the real bad guys!

But Critical Role doesn't do that. In Exandria, Asmodeus *feels* like the Devil. He's malevolent and manipulative and terrifyingly powerful and he hates you, personally. We never see that type of portrayal anymore! And it's amazing! And he still manages to be sympathetic and tragic without losing his edge!

And the "Good Gods" are portrayed as flawed without being secretly evil or something! Like, actual nuance? In my Heaven/Hell dichotomy? What!?

It's just such a breath of fresh air after so many "The Devil was right, actually" stories. So props to Matt and Brennan and the cast.

Things Elphaba notices about Glinda after she returns

Glinda sleeps in a fetal position with her arms wrapped around her body, as if she’s trying to hold herself

Glinda dries the floor religiously after she gets out of the shower or after she spills something, sometimes to the point where it’s manic

Glinda stoutly sleeps on one side of the bed but always reaches out with her hand to the empty one in her sleep

Glinda refuses to take any kind of painkillers or sleep supplements; Elphaba notices she’d rather just “sleep it off” when it comes to headaches or illnesses

Glinda has only decorated one side of her room and absolutely refuses to put anything she owns on the other side, even if it decreases her space

Glinda sometimes sleeps holding a pillow so she can bury her face into something soft so she feels supported

Glinda only eats plants and takes her meals in her room, alone and with a book

Glinda talks to the Grimmerie as if it were a friend, as if it was the only “person” she could talk freely with for several years

Glinda refuses to let go of Elphaba pretty much…ever, and Elphaba realizes how devastated Glinda must have felt to be deprived of such comforts for so long

I love writing Kakashi experiencing unpleasent symptons when he's in love, like, this man hasn't known anything good in his life since he was 5, when he feels happiness and love his first thought is that he's dying of heart failure or a stroke

Never getting over how Paint the Town Blue and Rebel Heart were wasted on an Act where Jinx doesn't go apeshit even a little, despite having plenty of reason to.

Jinx in S1:

"I'm worried Silco thinks I'm weak." [blows up Enforcers about it]

"I think my sister chose a cop over me." [blows up Enforcers about it]

"I accidentally killed my dad and I'm turning my back on my sister." [blows up the Council about it]

Jinx in S2A1:

"My sister turned bluebelly and is helping her cop girlfriend gas the undercity." [attempts dual-sororicide and blows the Grey into Piltover about it]

Jinx in S2A2:

"My emotional support child who I supposedly developed a deep familial bond with was arrested by Enforcers and taken to prison." [makes quips at and gives the finger to an Enforcer about it?]

Seriously though, a person with zero mental disorders and no abandonment issues would've shown more emotion over having their child/sister arrested than Jinx, notorious overreactor, did. We get one (1) moment of seeing her haunted by her hallucinations and then... nothing. Cool as a cucumber, not even particularly serious, cracking lighthearted jokes and exchanging quips. Who even is this!

And why the hell has Jinx been lying low and refusing to go even a tiny bit ham on the Enforcers when Isha actively wants her to do so. One of Jinx's fundamental character traits is that she has A Person, and she wants to be of value to that person by fulfilling their goals (even if it's in ways they didn't ask of her). So why is she ignoring something Isha really wants her to do! Who even is this!!

And it's not as if Jinx is acting like (kid) Powder either, because you know what Powder did? Build bombs to use on Enforcers. With nails in them!
