Coffeeshop AU (fleshes out Khan x Leona (this is a bad ship lmao they are NOT GOOD) and more sibling shenanigans between Vizzie and Leona)

Summer Camp AU (focuses around Sebek and Epel having been childhood crushes that reunite as camp counselours at a camp Viz and Leona run, there are Many Side Stories)

Pokemon AU (self-explanatory, I made teams up with my s/o and a bunch of bg)

Assassin AU (Students are all sleeper agents, operating under STYX as their test subjects basically, and they have no idea until one student's tech starts to malfunction.)

Prison AU (everyone has fucked up reasons for being in jail, they are All Prisoners, you'll notice in almost all my aus I have a shit ton of angst)

Circus AU (self explanatory, my LeoVil AU and Idikei AU)

Robot/MurderDrones AU in which Ortho's creation is the catalyst for STYX to make more androids for commercial and industrial use, and as they gain more intelligence Ortho would like to find a way to free his fellow bots from being pawns to the humans.

Rarepair AU literally put everyone's names in a wheel and just said Yep to every pair, very fun, have not fleshed this out at all lmao

Zombie Apocalypse AU pretty self explanatory except there are shit like blot zombies and varying degrees of those, Cheka grows into quite the little leader, I have not decided whether the ending is "happy" as in everything is resolved, or happy as in it's Actually Happy

Tattoo/Soulmate AU People with magic typically get into tattooing because they have the ability to make soulmate tattoos, but it varies depending on romantic, platonic/queerplatonic, familial feelings or other ones. Trey, Vil and Leona run a shop together, Deuce wants to join, Viz accidentally becomes his adoptive sister it's all fun and relatively low on the angst actually lmao

FNAF AU lmao this one has so much angst but you probably knew that already, inspired more by the pizzaplex/security breach than any other FNAF game, but a lot of the same type of lore

Coraline AU in which Viz gets to be Leona's big (half) sister for once. Falena is the eldest and treated with respect, everyone knows Viz isn't the king's biological daughter but they have to put up with her because the queen does, and Leona was the attempt between the king and queen to fix everything - it didn't work and he feels that. Ends up using an escape to another world to try and avoid that feeling, only to realize something much more sinister on the other side.

Biological Sister AU not super intuitive, seeing as above, Viz is Leona's half sister, but in this au she is also related him, just via the king this time. Don't ask me why I named it this, but it is what it is, she's taken in by the royal family early on and tries to bring it together. Idk it was a fun idea at the time.

Genderbent AU I wanted to explore Vizzie's trauma if she was around a bunch of other girls instead of guys and it goes Poorly but it's fun lmao

DnD AU b/c I've never played DnD and wanted to kinda learn so it's DnD inspired but the rules/roles aren't super strict but the worldbuilding is SO MUCH FUN (there are SO many dynamics all going on at the same time its GREAT)

Medieval Fantasy AU This is moreso my S/O's AU than it is mine but I wanted to talk about it because it also has a lot of fun worldbuilding in it that we did together (like the effects of OB and whatnot in this world)(also heavily inspired by DnD)

Arranged Marriage AU Viz and Riddle both have very overbearing, traditional moms and end up together against each others wills and have to unlearn their distaste for each other before they can start really working together to find ways to make each other happy

Greek God/Epic AU In which Viz takes on the Odyssey with Leona as her guide - he wants to prove himself worthy of the title of a God, and she will do anything to protect her people. It gets Complicated fast. (I actually have art I drew for this au lmao)

Poppy Playtime AU Really fucking depressing tbh, again, upon the perfection of Ortho's robotic aids (he never died, just severely incapacitated), all the other children that were used as test subjects were abandoned as half done projects and experiments that resembled toys

Dance AU I throw a bunch of the characters into dance. Vil, Riddle and Neige are on top but all three of them are having Gender Issues but in Big Denial about it.

Fairy AU My S/O also developed this one initially but I have a few different headcanons from them :D

Petsitter AU Cater is more of the focus in this one, he's recently left home, in between jobs and down on his luck and ends up calling in an old favour. He stays with Trey (and Che'nya) in their apartment and gets to know the people in the complex as he starts to heal <3

…So, I haven’t rambled about my OC playlists here. I do them both “Fits the Character in some Way” and “The Character would like this genre!” because I like making things unnecessarily hard for myself. I also make them strictly 1 hour and 30 minutes long (according to spotify).

some of them are my OCs, some of them are my Girlfriend’s OCs, most of them I try to spin a story out of the songs but it’d only make sense if you already knew the character and what they did in both their own story’s canon and ‘Displacement’ canon (basically an excuse we both made for all of them, magic past, technical futures, and completely different timelines and worlds, to crossover) which i don’t usually talk about them online because I can’t draw and I think people would rip me apart for it asdkjnekajndkajnddkj

the fountain of youth is real and this one guy's been living off it to keep it secret for years except he also uses it as a dunk tank. mount rushmore is actually a secret base for the branch of the government that knows about aliens. there is a substance in some galaxy that, when exposed to earth creatures, turns them into horrible monsters that lack all sense of self (this part scared me so bad as a kid i never watched through it all so i have no clue what happened to fix it). the government alien branch is named the 'plumbers' and they flush prisoners and bad aliens into an alternate dimension where everything is red, the entire space is breathable, and feral versions of one of the aliens ben can become lives there. there is also an independent organization against aliens and they all dress as knights and have knight-themed gear and do dealings with minor conspiracy theorists who report they have a frog alien in a jar in their house. some guy has a giant thumbnail growing out of his skull, he is friends with a woman whose hair is prehensile and a guy who can breathe acid that melts cars, and they make their living off circus shows with a guy who can drain people's good spirits; none of these people are directly implied to be aliens or anything, they're just like that. you see a future where slacker-off goofball ben becomes a high-strung world superhero akin to superman who gives himself no time to take breaks or relax or see his family. santa claus is real, as are his elves, and they live in a random magical christmas village in the middle of the desert until ben turns all the elves back into people and three of them are konohamaru and his friends from naruto. part of ben's family tree is an entirely different type of alien than his grandfather got it on with, and they are made of living mud. one of ben's aliens is somehow capable of transforming an entire living human into computer code inside of a video game, inside which all the characters are alive and have their own thoughts and insights, and inside which ben and gwen have sick new designs. every time ben transforms he goes through some sort of body horror within the span of half a second or less that nobody except the viewer ever sees, except that one time he thought he was turning into a werewolf. some random little league baseball manager out there made a whole team of realistic androids to play against real kids, and they have the arm strength to throw baseballs that can go through steel, and nobody bats an eye at this, nor does this advanced technology show up in day-to-day life. ben goes on a road trip across america in the weirdest zigzaggy order ever and somehow manages to encounter multiple of his villains cast multiple times, without either of them really trying to catch up to the other. by the way the omnitrix can accidentally explode the whole entire universe if it stays in self-destruct mode long enough, and easily the whole galaxy or mere planet earth, and ben accidentally turned it on at 10 years old and thought his cousin died to plant aliens. his great-aunt's retirement complex got slowly picked off and replaced with shapeshifting aliens who hiss and recoil from water in 100º+ weather and nobody caught it until ben got there. ben still daydreams about being a superhero called 'ultra ben' that is his own self with a visor and supersuit, after finding the omnitrix and getting to be a real superhero. in one episode cthulhu darth vader (vilgax) contacts ben in a dream, and we have no clue how or why this happened. some random weatherman invented an AI robot to predict the weather that became capable of mutating and gaining powers to control water and weather. the very last episode in the series proper is a what-if that doesn't really happen by the end of the episode.

The wildest thing about Ben 10 is that it took until 2005 for someone to have the idea "what if a kid could turn into a bunch of aliens" like this isn't obviously the coolest and most marketable premise for anything ever. Each design is a new toy. A new powerset. Come on.

But to prove that it wasn't a fluke, they continued to have the best ideas for every aspect of it. How does he transform? A cool watch you can also sell as a toy. That watch's name? Omnitrix. Say it. It's so satisfying. How many aliens? Ten. Nice round number. The kid's name? Ben. The show's name? Ben Ten. His full name is Benjamin Tennyson, a normal, plausible name, but he also turns into 10 aliens.

Bigger brands dream about this synergy. Better writers would kill for this coherence. So holistic. So intuitive. The identity alone!!! The retro alien sound motif? Chilling. The green? Any other color would be wrong. The kirby krackle pattern? It seems so obvious in retrospect. The roadtrip format? Genius. Lesser writers would've done the spider-man high school thing. His arch nemesis being Cthulhu darth vader? Inspired, iconic, intimidating!

The execution has its highs and lows, but the idea??? Game changing. So self-evident that it seems inevitable. If Ben 10 didn't exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

(DQ11) Hero, the 11th Luminary — hailing from the quaint mountain side village of Cobblestone, 11 is a young man who recently came into his powers as Luminary at the meagre age of 16. 11 was raised in Cobblestone as a baby, but is really the long lost prince from the once thriving Kingdom of Dundrasil. Already, his life is full of risks and dangers as he navigates the world with his quirky band of misfits, hoping to put a stop to the evil Jasper before the world is thrust into an ever lasting era of darkness.

(DQ11) Sylvando, *ahem* that’s the “Great Sylvando” to you, honey~ — originally hailing from Puerto Valor, Sylvando is the son of the famous Don Rodrigo, a legendary knight who would go on to train Hendrick and Sylvando in the art of combat. Yet, knighthood wasn’t where Sylvando’s heart resided. And so, with an eager heart Sylvando set out to carve his own destiny. Wanting more than anything to bring smiles to people’s faces around the world as a circus performer. He would later join the Luminary’s conquest against the dark forces that threatens their world.

(DQ11) Hendrick, the Luminary’s sworn shield — a strong and well-built man, Hendrick serves as the general of the Heliodor army, alongside his fellow compatriot, Jasper. Born in Zwaardsrust, Hendrick would go on to train under the ever-watchful eye of Don Rodrigo, alongside his son Sylvando. He would also serve as one the storylines temporary antagonists, believing that the Luminary was the Darkspawn. (Under construction)

(Chrono Cross) Harle, the franglais speaking-jester — The ever-mysterious and beautiful jester, Harle serves as Lynx’s right-hand women and later on, the protagonist’s temporary ally. She displays a playful and flirtatious side upon meeting Serge, the central protagonist, she is also very skilled in black elemental magic. [Major plot spoiler ahead] It is also later revealed that despite her human appearance, Harle is actually the 7th dragon who’s power is directly tied to the moon. Her proper title is the Dark Moon Dragon.

How would you improve Eleanor?

I don't even know how you would fix it. So much of Eleanor is a bad idea. She is a renamed Circus Baby with a slightly different design. Almost like someone was given a vague description of Novel Baby and then got the name wrong, mixing up Eleanor for Elizabeth.

First of all, I would've never tried to shoehorn her in as a big bad. Though a reappearing villain might've worked- though only if you had her in stories where it would've flowed better.

Here are stories where you could've had the antagonist actually be Eleanor and had it still make sense:

Dance With Me- Instead of the whole "They Live" glasses thing, they could've had the stolen item be the silver pendant which had been in the goody bag- intended to be given to the girl. While wearing the pendant, Kasey hallucinates Ballora coming after her, but at the end, after she gives back the necklace, it is revealed that "Ballora" was actually Eleanor trying to get her pendant back to her assumed target. Maybe even show some of her own character by having her lament not being able to use Kasey because she's, "So pretty".

Gumdrop Angel- Instead of a magic machine that turns people into candy, this story could be rewritten instead as an elaborate hallucination to get Angel back to Freddy's so that Eleanor can then steal her identity. I feel like you could also work in a plot where she feeds Angel back to her family to cover up the crime, lamenting that her family were already eating her up before she came into it. (I think I would also rewrite Angel to be the spoiled sibling in this case, honestly, so it feels less unrealistically cruel and unsatisfying.)

I would then have at least one more story with her in it before the finale of the stingers.

As for personality... I think I would make Eleanor a special type of ignorant and indulgent. Instead of just evil that likes pain because evil stuff and giggles all the type, Eleanor is a machine and believes replacing parts is totally normal. She does vile things, like her disposal of bodies, so she can keep herself afloat, and her ending goal is to become just as human as everyone else.

As such, Eleanor observes the world around her and with every story becomes a little more comfortable and desensitized by all the death. Sarah wanting her body back? Eleanor is surprised and glum- but no take backs! Eleanor witnesses a family accept a stranger while eating their daughter? She is growing less remorseful. If this is how the world is then she really should learn how to live with it.

But it's all touched with a sort of deranged innocence. "Oh wow, I wish I had HER body!... Oh well. Guess I have to settle on this little girl. That's okay."

It makes me wonder if it would've worked better if Eleanor wasn't a Baby clone, but a variant of the Charlie android who was abandoned by her father and was forced to learn on her own. The powerful implication being that his neglect led to her becoming something just as bad, if not worse, than what Will created.

Another possible angle could be that she was a bot built to be Jake's caretaker and after his and his father's passing, was forced to figure out how to survive without any primary objective. Somehow tending to children turned into a compulsive need to become and like vicariously through them.

I feel that in this regard the audience might actually be able to form an attachment to Eleanor, so that when it comes down to her verses Larson and the Stitchwraith, they might feel a little more torn on how they feel about what's happening. You watch this thing doing awful acts and you know it must be stopped, but seeing it occasionally act human has made you feel a connection.

Well, that's just my thoughts and most of 'em came off the top of my head. Hope it amounts to something!

Play and Discuss: Genshin Impact

Today, we had 2 minutes to present a game we played during the 2 day long gaming festival. Here on the Tumblr, I’ve taken the liberty to break that 2 min limit in order to go more in-depth however. 

I and Malin @designingaction​ chose Genshin Impact, since providing the accounts of both a new and veteran player would give a nuanced perspective. The game is free-to-play and is available on Windows, iOS/Android and PS4/PS5, but like many other video games, it’s unfortunately not on Mac.

Explain the game in one or two sentences

Genshin Impact is an action RPG set in an «open-world environment with an action-based battle system using elemental magic and character-switching.» The protagonist travel the world to reunite with their lost sibling, getting involved with the various affairs of Teyvat’s many distinct nations. The game is free-to-play where the player can obtain characters and weapons through a gacha* system, either through microtransactions or for free by completing in-game activities such as events, quests, minigames and overall exploration of the open-world. New content such as characters, weapons, regions, and events is added every two weeks. It’s primarily a single-player experience, but co-op unlocks around LV16 and is useful for dealing with tough monsters if your party/team of characters is on the weaker side.

Gachapon is Japanese for a capsule toy vending machine, where you spend money to receive a random reward. It can be compared to collecting Pokemon cards, where you want to get the golden card, but you cannot know what cards you’ve gotten until you’ve purchased and opened the package. In laconic terms, it’s a style of lottery machine where you receive collectibles. Here’s a demo of how gachapon works on tiktok.

Include how the games feels like and if something was inspiring to you

After a couple of minutes spent setting up an account, the game gets straight to the point explaining the protagonist’s overall motivation in the narrative, and goes through the game’s controls with an interactive tutorial sequence. For beginners, all these buttons may feel a bit overwhelming, but like any other video game, it’s something you get used to after a while as it becomes a part of the player’s muscle memory, and can be compared to driving a car. The opening arc’s fast pace of introducing new game mechanics is something I appreciate in retrospect, as it wastes no time letting the player begin playing around in a satisfying manner and in a generous safe beginner environment without making the game experience unplayable.

As a veteran player, I’m unable to fully be aware of the game’s unique details unless I explicitly compare it to another game. Instead, it’d be more insightful to have a look at my teammate’s first impression, since she has a fresher set of eyes/senses as a beginner. I think she had not heard of the game before this assignment, which makes sense as the game is does not have as much popularity in Europe as in America or China.

My stepdad likes to laconically describe the game as a «poorman’s Zelda» which is not a terrible description: Like Zelda, Genshin follows the style trend of Ghibli-inspired aesthetic, and borrows many open-world game mechanics from Breath of the Wild. Although MiHoYo also openly borrows from other Japanese titles like Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Nier Automata etc. For their cutscenes, MiHoYo uses many various sakuga* techniques; For instance, the opening cutscene uses the itano circus and impact frames (Canipa Effect 2020). In short, Genshin is quite a loving homage to the anime subculture from Chinese developers and donghua animators, as evident in the company’s motto: «Tech otakus* save the world.» To put it in the words of Picasso: «Good artists borrow, great artists steal.» Here’s a gif from Zelda BOTW for comparison:

Personally, I find Genshin more enjoyable than Zelda, since the problem with BOTW was that at some point I run out of things to explore, and the open world ends up feeling empty. Although, there’s a discussion around whether or not games should have a definitive ending from an addiciton standpoint, I support the subscription model where you do not run out of content. For me, it’s a matter of the same convenience that Netflix provides, which places the power of choice and self-control in the user’s hand. This allows me as a player control whether I want to continue or not, instead of forcing me to stop. And if I do wish to stop, I can instead just watch a rundown of the cutscenes on Youtube, watch someone else play through the game as a backseat gamer, or simply break pattern and leave the game. 

In the game’s settings you can also switch between many different languages, though I would of course recommend playing the game with English dub because Zhongli’s English voice actor sounds amazing, although there are some Chinese expressions or rhymes which does not translate as well such as Hutao’s hilichurl song.

The game is understandably pretty large in terms of MB, partly due to how big the still expanding open world is, but give it a shot if you can 🌸.

Sakuga is an animation sequence in an anime that is of noticeably or drastically higher quality, usually for dramatic effect. This phenomena is common for productions on a tight budget such as animated tv series, which neither has the time nor money to produce cinema-quality animation for twenty episodes straight. I prefer discovering sakuga by watching compilation montages on social media, such as this one on special effects on Youtube, although professional animators would use SakugaBooru, which is a collaborative wiki used to identify and credit the individual artists/animators involved in a production.

Otaku is Japanese for geek or nerd, and is what anime enthusiasts may call themselves. Alternatively, foreigners may also use the word weeb or weeaboo to depreciatively refer to themselves as a member of the anime community/subculture. In the west, it can be defined as a term for foreigners who’s enthusiastic about Japanese pop culture.

Finish with one way of changing, improving or creating a variation of that game

Overall, I think the game is a lot of fun and great in many aspects, so it was difficult to find something we could improve or change about the game. We agreed that we could make the game more ethical, by removing the several different intermediary currencies in the optional payment transaction, which creates a cognitive distance and thus makes it harder to clearly see how much worth you’ve got for the money you’ve spent. At the moment the game has three different intermediary steps before you can gacha pull for a character or weapon: Genesis Crystal �� Primogems → Wishes.

If we wanted to create a variation of the game, we could adjust the elemental resonances either by chaning the effects or adding other elements. We could also switch up what kind of weapons the characters uses, or remove how each character is limited to one weapon-type, allowing the player to keep using their favourite character just with for instance a sword instead of a bow. This would also create a larger pool of possible combinations and make the game even more customizable, which adds to a robust game design. The downside is that this would increase the costs since each character needs a different set of animations with each weapon type, which could lead to the animations being less appealing, and detract from the characterization of each character.

ON THE EDGE ~ Pt. 1

Summary: YN is a Detective and the partner of Gavin Reed, number one douchebag of the Detroit City Police Department. After a forced break, she comes back. She’s looking forward to working with her partner again and to getting back into her ‘normal’ life between case files and criminals. But, of course, it doesn’t stay boring for too long: Gavin seemed to be more on the edge than usual, a Red Ice dealer might be a good lead to something bigger and then, there is Connor, the friendly, handsome android and Hank’s new partner.

Added to the fact that yn has to deal with the criminal world again, she also discovers feelings she hasn’t noticed before triggered by a person she hasn’t expected.

Her life always resembled a ride on a rollercoaster.

But now, it’s a whole damn circus parade.

"He's totally crazy. He shoots at everything that moves. It's impossible to get close to him.", yn stated. "But we have to stop him somehow."

"Stay here. I have an idea. Over there, the left spot is free. He will barely notice me.", Gavin said and pointed in the direction.

"Gavin, no!", Yn cursed as he slipped through her grip, "Gavin!", she tried again to call him back but her partner was already too far away, "Fuck!"

Gavin ran to the left side like mentioned. Yn stayed behind the hide and watched the scene concerned. She was trying to cover Gavin whenever needed. What Gavin couldn't notice was that the crazy guy had seen him.

Even if she tried everything to get the guy's attention, Yn watched in horror how the suspect aimed at Gavin who sneaked through the room completely unaware that he was the target in the line of fire.

The suspect aimed his gun into Gavin's direction and waited til he would appear on the other side of the pillar where Gavin tried to hide.

There was no way that yn would be able to stop the guy. He was too far away and behind a half broken wall. But she was convinced that she could help Gavin. That was what she did without thinking twice: she ran towards Gavin. As she reached him to push him out of the way, the suspect fired his gun two times.

Of course Gavin was cursing as he hit the ground unexpectedly, not knowing what had pushed him. He hurried to get back on his feet and as he saw that the suspect's gun had been running out of bullets, Gavin shot to stop him.

Gavin made sure that the suspect was no threat anymore. Officers were running into the room to arrest the shooter. And only then, Gavin noticed yn lying on the ground and all the blood pouring from her body...

Gasping for air, Gavin started up from his sleep and sat straight in his bed, "Fuck...", he cursed breathlessly. He was dripping with sweat, his hair clutching to his face. Three o'clock in the morning. Just two hours of sleep but still more than the night before...or all the other nights during the past weeks.

Gavin pushed his blanket away, sat on the edge of his bed and rested his face in his hands to calm down himself. His fingers were digging into his hair violently as he desperately tried to get the memories out of his head. He squeezed his eyes shut until stars were dancing in front of his inner eyes.

A shudder was shaking him. Goosebumps were spreading over his naked chest. To sit around like this, covered in sweat, wouldn't do anything good. And because he was already awake, Gavin stood up, took his boxing gloves and started to train until the pictures in his head would disappear.

He knew this would never happen.

He should have been better.

He had failed yn.

To stay in front of this certain building after all these long weeks felt like coming home. At least, for yn. She was nervous but in a good way that shot adrenaline through her body. It was like the first day at school after the summer break. She didn't have to fear anything. Everyone would be happy to see her again. And yet, she extended the moment to go in. It was not an official visit. She just wanted to come back because...she feared to miss too many things.

Yn had heard the rumors of Hank's new partner. An android. Then, there were the happenings that got called 'War of Detroit', the successful android revolution. So many things had changed and yet, yn knew that there was still this one, certain absolute term. Her own rock in this ocean of craziness she could always depend on: Gavin Reed, her partner.

Yn was looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces again and without waiting any longer, she entered the DPD finally.

Gavin stood in the kitchen of the DPD at one of the tables, his back facing the office so he hadn't to see anyone. The last thing he wanted was to talk with someone. A cup of coffee stood in front of him. He watched the foam floating around on the dark liquid. It was his third cup. And it wouldn't be the last.

"Good morning, Detective Reed."

Gavin nodded without looking up. Even if Gavin had made his peace with Connor, the nice android from the neighborhood, he was still getting on his nerves from time to time. This morning was such a 'time'. His thoughts always drifted back to his recurring dreams of yn…

"Reed.", Hank greeted Gavin, who nodded quickly. Without asking, Hank and Connor joined Gavin at the table. An own cup of coffee in front of Hank. He sugared it and stirred the liquid that would start his day.

Connor was about to say something, maybe to light up the mood of these two grumpy guys, but Hank stopped him, "Shit! Look who's there.", he said and looked at someone behind Gavin's back.

Gavin looked up and saw Hank and Connor staring at the same spot so, he turned around, "No fucking way!", Gavin called out surprised and approached yn quickly who stood in the passage of the kitchen. A smirk was spreading on his lips as he saw her in the familiar environment.

Yn smiled and waved but as she saw Gavin's predatory glance and the smirk, she stepped back and raised her hands to stop him, "Gavin, no. Stop! Gavin!" The impact of her partner knocked all the air out of her lungs.

He snaked his arms around her waist and scooped her up, "I have missed you, shorty!", he cheered.

Yn chuckled until she got put back down on her feet a moment later, "I have missed you, too, idiot!", she said. Together, Gavin and yn went back to the table to Hank and Connor, "I'm- what? Away for six weeks and everything went south? Detroit fights a civil war against androids who started a revolution? Everything's a warzone, suddenly and I'm not a part of that? Boys, I thought you could handle it better without me.", she said smirking and crossed her arms.

"We did what we could but there were just too many of these things.", Gavin said serious.

As yn looked at Gavin with an amused expression, her eyes fell on the fourth person at the table, "Oh, and who are you?"

"My name is Connor.", the android answered.

"My new partner.", Hank added.

"Your new- bloody hell! I already heard the rumors but- Nice to meet you. I'm yn. Whenever you need help with the old man, come to me.", yn said with a wink.

"Very funny!" Hank grunted but yn saw the grin on his face.

As Gavin saw the glances between Connor and yn, he stepped between them. Gavin wasn't fond of the way the android looked at her.

"So, you're 'back' back?", Gavin asked hopefully.

"I'm still not fully recovered. I have to attend a few dates with the psycho-doc AND I have to pass the shooting test. Then I will be back. I guess one more week. I just have missed all this so much, I had to come over.", yn said grinning.

"I guess, there will be no problem for you to pass everything, kiddo.", Hank said encouragingly.

"Thanks Hank-"

"Of course, she will pass all this bullshit! And then, she will be back. The precinct was way too boring without you!", Gavin said excitedly.

Yn saw his eyes sparkling and the familiar grin. She considered saying something nice but she always loved to tease this douchebag. It was their thing, "No new recruits to torture, huh?"

Gavin's smile faltered and he squinted his eyes as he saw her smirking, "I never-"

Yn nodded understandingly, "Ohh...I see... No women to hunt either? You poor thing!", she patted his cheek to act playfully caring.

Gavin couldn't do anything else than just to laugh before he brought her into a bear hug, completely enveloping her, "Oh, how much I have missed you!", Gavin stepped back, ruffled her hair, and laid his arm around her shoulders before they walked to his desk.

Connor watched after them. Overwhelmed by her entrance, the way she was handling Gavin and how different the Detective was around her, "Where was she?", he asked Hank finally.

Confused, Hank looked at his partner, "What?"

"Where was yn? She said she was gone for several weeks. Where had she been? Vacation?"

"Oh .. uhmm, no. She... During their last case, she got injured. She had to recover. It's good that she will be back soon, tho.", Hank explained, smiling about the fact yn was coming home.

"Detective Reed seems different around her.", Connor stated, still confused about all the smiles and laughter coming from Reed.

"I guess it's her magical power. She's able to handle him where anyone else failed a long time ago."

Connor looked at her once again. Yn stood with Gavin, Chris and some other cops at the desk, talking and laughing. She was truly magical. Nice, funny, cheeky, beautiful. He was looking forward to working with her. Then, she came back to them.

"Hey, I got appetite for the best burger in town. Wanna join?", she called over to Hank who nodded with a grin. Gavin rolled his eyes but she just nudged him in his side. Connor got dragged out of his thoughts and followed his three colleagues. Yn already waited for him to join. Much to Gavin's dismay she linked her arm with the android's one but he swallowed down his annoyance for the greater good.

They drove to the Chicken Feed truck. The best burger in town, how Hank had titled them. While the three made their orders, Connor organized a table. All three went to the table with burgers and drinks. Simultaneously, they bit into their burgers.

"You know, this meal contains 1.4 times the recommended daily intake of calories. You shouldn't eat-"

"Shut up!", Gavin and Hank yelled at the same time. Connor silenced instantly.

Yn looked alternating at Hank and Gavin before she stopped at Connor, "Connor, honey, very important rule: don't fuck the boys up when it comes to their food. It's not a good idea."

"But it's unhealthy.", Connor argued innocently.

Yn nodded slowly, knowing what he meant before she looked at her burger closely, "Well, I’m spotting salad, tomato and even pickles on our burgers. These are three different types of vegetables. It's more healthier than everything else we're used to consuming. Don't forget that we usually got fueled by coffee and donuts. Only."

Connor nodded and let them eat. He had learnt that humans knew how to live the best way but some of them didn't just want to do it right. Maybe it wasn’t for him to change their behaviour.

"Hey, sweety. Want some bread?”, Yn asked and threw a small piece of bread on the ground.

Hank followed the way of her attention and rolled annoyed with his eyes, "Oh, these disgusting creatures!", Hank muttered. Yn looked questioningly up to Connor.

"Lieutenant Anderson doesn't like pigeons.", Connor explained.

"That sounds like a story. I wanna know it!", yn said amused with a big grin, waiting for Hank to speak up.

Hank grinned but shook his head, "Someday, I will tell you what I had to endure with this guy but not now.", Hank said and he and Connor said goodbye. Hank hugged yn before they left her and Gavin alone.

Gavin and yn started to walk around a bit, enjoying the sunny winter day, "You look tired. Have you been very busy the last few weeks?", yn asked.

"No, it was okay. Nothing much. The typical stuff, you know.", Gavin said, his hands buried in the pockets of his jacket, playing with some coins.

"Oh, yeah... So, you just didn't want to see me then?", she asked, looking at him from the corner of her eyes, watching his reaction.

Gavin avoided her eyes, looking at the ground, "Yn…", he sighed, "I…", but he stopped. Unsure what he should say.

Yn nudged him with her shoulder, a soft smile on her lips as she saw his pained expression, "It's okay. I'm not mad. I was just… it was boring, you know. If you would have visited more often, maybe it would have been more fun to recover.", she said jokingly but it wasn't working, the painful expression stayed in his face.

"I really doubt that.", Gavin said low, still not able to look at her.

"What?", Yn asked surprised and stopped.

Gavin stopped as well, facing her with his back, "I- I… forget it.", Gavin said and was about to go but yn stopped him with her hand holding his arm and turning him around.

"Gavin, what is it?"

Gavin needed a moment before he looked at yn, as he did, it was with a serious expression, "It's my fault that you got injured in the first place."

Slightly taken aback that it was this topic that still bothered him, yn frowned and looked at him with big eyes and shaking her head, "No. It was the fault of this fucker-"

"No! You wouldn't have been shot if I hadn't been so stupid! I have failed you as a partner and as a friend!", Gavin called out angrily, torturing himself.

Yn intervened right away, "Stop that, Gavin! It's not your fault, okay? Your idea was good. This guy was simply just too crazy."

Gavin dropped his gaze, not able to look into her eyes any longer. For him it didn’t feel right to get forgiveness from her, "I should have been in your place instead. Two more scars on my body wouldn't make any difference to all the others I already have."

Yn stepped forward to search his glance, "You feel guilty, I get that. But ... you don't have to, okay? And beside, I know you and your luck. You would have been killed instead of just being injured.", a smirk playing on her lips.

Finally, Gavin looked at her again. He chuckled low by the face she made: a too overexcited grin to cheer him up. No matter how down he felt, yn was able to let him feel better. Always. Even just for a moment. He stepped forward and brought her into a bone crushing embrace, "It's so good to have you back.", he said softly into her hair.

Yn was surprised about the sudden outburst of emotions but she hugged him back, enjoying this moment to the fullest, "Yeah. And you know what? I can't wait to kick some asses with you again."

An unusual couple - Chapter 8

Summary: Peter tries to help, but everything’s tricky in tv land.

Chapter 8: Trapped again

As Wanda walked away with her children, the spell that was keeping him from moving finally dissipated. Peter stretched his sore muscles and slowly looked around. Blind to what had just happened, the Westview citizens weren’t even sparing him a glance. He was, quite literally, someone that didn’t exist to Wanda anymore. As sad as he was that his sort of sister didn’t want him in her life, he had to look upon the positive side.

The darned necklace was gone. He was free.

Peter thanked his lucky star that Wanda’s magic was powerful enough to break Agatha’s spell. For the first time since he’d first arrived in Westview, his actions were his own, his thoughts were his own. And he couldn’t be grateful enough. Once again, it was his sister that freed him. Sure, he was still under Wanda’s spell, but her magic wasn’t nearly as aggressive. 

Though, Wanda had problems of her own. Vision was dying and she had expanded her world to save him. She had played right into Agatha’s hand. Her extensive use of her magic was exactly what his not wife wanted. That and isolating her as much as possible. Peter was well aware that Wanda hadn’t gone to her husband because she had told Tommy and Billy that they were going home. So, he figured the first act of his newfound freedom would be to help his alternate universe sister reunite with her husband.

He wasn’t exactly sure where to start, he had never gone outside of Agatha’s house before. So, Peter ran. That was the only thing he could possibly do at the moment.

The town was huge, bigger than what he had expected. It was a little frightening to think that Wanda had enough power to control that many people. He eventually found Vision amongst a circus with all the performers stuck in a sort of stasis state. There were dozens of people barely moving, like someone had pulled the curtain and left them to wait for their next act. Which was what had happened, in a way. Wanda didn’t need them for now, so they weren’t moving.

Peter crouched at the android’s side, he was alive, but whatever had happened at the barrier had drained him. “Hey,” he called to the unconscious robot, he shook him to try to get him to come to his senses. “Come on, bro in law. You have to get back to Wanda. She needs you.”

The android slowly cracked his eyes open, and frowned as he looked at him, “Pietro?”

Peter shook his head. “No, sorry, I was forced into that role.” Vision seemed on the verge of passing out again, so the speedster shook him lightly. “Hey, you gotta stay awake, your wife needs you.”

Vision met his gaze through dizzy eyes, “Wanda?”

Peter could hear some noise behind them, but he kept his focus on the android. His pretend brother-in-law had to get back to his wife. Agatha was doing everything in her power to isolate Wanda and he couldn’t, wouldn’t, let that happen. Not if he had a say in it. “Go back to her, she needs you. Not some replacement brother.”

The speedster wasn’t sure if Vision would even remember their conversation, but he had to warn him. “Your neighbor, Agnes. Don’t trust her, she’s-“

His mouth suddenly turned to cotton, and Peter frowned as he struggled getting out a single sound. He was suddenly yanked back, a few feet away from the android. Pain coursed through him as he fell to the ground, like a puppet that had its strings cut. A familiar cackle appeared at the same time as the looming shadow of his captor. She was wearing a classic witch costume, he found it ironic.

“Oh, Ralph, why would you want to spoil the surprise like that?”

“I’m not your husband,” he snarled, finally able to express his full disdain. The speedster might not have been able to move right now, but he sure as hell would give her a piece of his mind.

She used her magic to drag him from the ground to her car, making no effort to be gentle. Peter shot an anxious look at his brother-in-law, who had fallen unconscious once more. At least, he’d be spared from Agatha’s wrath, unlike him.

The woman calmly walked back into her car and into the driver’s seat. He watched warily from the passenger seat as she reached into the glove box in front of him and pulled out something that made his heart stop.

“You left this behind,” she taunted, holding the necklace in front of his face. “I have to thank your self-sacrificing nature, that’s what led me to you. You’re so eager to save everyone, even if it costs you your life. It wasn’t hard to deduce you’d go to Vision.”

Agatha started driving, letting the silence tell the danger his future held.

He tried struggling against the purple glow that was keeping him immobile on the passenger seat. Much to his frustration, Agatha simply clenched her fist, which in turn tightened the magic surrounding him. Peter could practically feel her delight as she watched him struggling to breathe.

Finally, after what felt like forever, she loosened her hold. When they turned into their driveway, Peter started struggling again, perhaps Wanda or Billy would hear his telepathic warning. Unfortunately for him, the Maximoff household was dark and silent, just like the town.

Agatha swiftly got up and pocketed the damn necklace. She slammed the door in frustration and made her way towards him.

“Walk,” she ordered, harshly pulling him out of the car. “Or you’ll regret it.”

Knowing no one would come to help him, Peter complied with Agatha’s demand and walked without making a fuss. The witch opened the front door with magic, her right hand holding the back of his shirt firmly. She practically dragged him into the house, her hold on him showing the anger that was coursing through her. Peter could only imagine the horrors that were awaiting him as they descended into the dark basement once more.
