i am slowly being hit with the realization that AZ's legends design is like exactly up my alley- men with long hair and formal clothing is like my exact weak point. Has N or Dardanne(?) had any issues with nightmares relating to team plasma?

Sadly they both do, like most former plasma grunts, Concordia and Anthea. I like to think that Rood and Alder do their max to give the Plasma survivors the psychological help they requiere :)

The frequency of the nightmares have been reduced though, as N and Dar usually sleep with weighted blankets and a night light (if you ask them which one of them asked for the night light they'll point at each other), making their sleeping environment feeling safer and more comforting !

N's nightmares mainly take place in huge dark and empty spaces with marbled floors (I like to think that he always perceived the castle's environment as way too big, cold and scary as a child, and that representation never left his mind). He usually sees his loved ones, but they ignore him or mock him. In his nightmares he can't speak or scream and can only cry, and his crying goes ignored by the other people in his nightmares. The emotional and psychological pain is very vivid and N will wake up upset and need some time before getting back into reality.

Dar's nightmares are more focused on attempting to flee the situation with no success. His nightmares are blurry, but he knows he is in imminent danger, and he also knows he can't escape. Usually he tries to flee anyway, to no avail. The terror and dread he feels reproduce those he experienced during his life, both before and during Plasma. Dardanne usually wakes up with a feeling of terror and the immediate need to flee or hide, and like N, will need time to reajust to the waking world.

When they both wake up at night and feel too anxious to go back to sleep, they go eat the most unhealthy snack available while watching the Pokemon equivalent to Bee Movie (N will blabber for hours about the Pokemon Bee Movie, about how the bee pokemons should 100% sue the human race)

That, or they start cooking, which often end up in disaster

i know its probably big spoilers, but. it keeps bugging me that Aldertail's mate 'isn't born yet'. i mean, how old is Alder and will their mate be born into the clan she resides? will she be involved in their kithood/training?

clangen sure does love to do that and there was a way in the code to adjust the max age gap between mates but i myself never found it dvjfbs it's just the wording amd what might be behind it in terms of game that icks me

I understand your concerns but let me attempt lay your mind at ease.

First things first, I disallow romantic interactions between mentor apprentice pairs so you'll never see that in RisingClan. Secondly, I played this game years in advance so I can see who is going to end up with who and I can write their relationship appropriately from the start.

Now, here's the part that you may not love to hear, Aldertail is somewhere between 20 and 30 moons (i wasn't keeping track of ages as closely at this point in my notes) and her eventual mate won't be born for a good year or more. But here's the thing, cats don't care as much about ages when it come to those things.

I've anthropomorphized them, yes, and so I won't be portraying any romantic or sexual relationships between adults and juvenile cats, but once a cat is an adult the stigma around dating them kind of goes away in my setting. In the Clans, specifically, if a cat is warrior aged then they have the freedom to choose whichever mate they want.

So yes, Aldertail is going to be a good deal older than her eventual partner but I hope you will trust me to write that in a way that feels compelling and natural and to understand that there isn't anything wrong with the equivalent of a 24 year old falling in love with an older woman of their own volition.
