• aries can suprisingly be very monk-like, like i will not speak for three days but i will build a table without nails. they’re childlike but can be very wise. people get confused by this. the idea people have of them can make them feel smaller than they are. also this depends on where mercury is. if it’s in pisces, then they’re probably more on the silent side but with fantastical imaginations.

Air Mercuries - make individuals more talkative, interested in sharing their ideas with others, understanding other people’s point of view, regardless of other placements in the chart. I believe in incorporating the plants that live and grow around you into your spiritual practice and common Lilac is prevalent in my neighborhood. During spring it’s incredibly fragrant and I love to harvest the wood and blossoms to make spiritual oils and more. I believe in it comes in a variety of different colors, but I’ll be focusing on its purple and white aspects.

Lilac wood is commonly used to enhance memory, concentration and more due to its air like properties. This wood is excellent for wands and is also said to be a great offering to forest spirits.

Allegedly, according to several sources the sprigs are used in Russia to imbue children with luck and wisdom. In the UK, in a small localized part of England it was believed to be bad luck to bring white lilacs into the house, but finding one with five petals was considered lucky. The purple and red varieties were less feared but were excluded from house decor as bringers of misfortune.

In these fairly modern times, they are used for banishing negative energy, ghosts, ghouls and other assorted haunts, specifically the purple variety. Dragonflies, those colorful bugs zooming around like mini-helicopters, are more than just a spectacular sight. These iridescent predators may also be the best way to detect where and how mercury—a toxic metal for both people and wildlife—is accumulating in our environment, a new study says. 

Scientists have often used fish or birds as harbingers of mercury contamination. But dragonflies are an even better indicator. For one, their larvae develop in almost any type of water body, including tiny desert potholes or muddy marshes that can’t support larger animals. Plus, it’s cheaper, easier, and more accurate to analyze mercury in insect larvae than it is in fish or birds.

The World Health Organization lists mercury as one of the top 10 chemicals of major public health concern, and the metal exists in our atmosphere at a concentration of about 450 percent higher than natural levels due to humans' industrial activities, including coal burning and cement production. (Read about an effort to track mercury in the Amazon.)

Since 2009, more than 7,000 citizens and researchers have collected dragonfly larvae from 150 U.S. national parks as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project, which is run by the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Park Service. This community science effort, now the nation’s largest assessment of mercury contamination, has analyzed tens of thousands of dragonfly larvae. 

In doing so, scientists have discovered surprising patterns in how mercury moves through the landscape, including where concentrations of this harmful metal are the highest.

This successful research effort shows dragonfly larvae should be the gold standard for detecting mercury, saysCollin Eagles-Smith, a USGS research ecologist and science lead for the Dragonfly Mercury Project who co-authored a study on the topic recently in the journal Environmental Science and Technology.

Im very stuck on that one thing right now

This is not a dumb question at all!

First off, I have to say Astrology is a complex study and a subject that's been here for a long, long, loooooong time, which means there are different schools of thought and some might disagree with me since I go for the Traditional school, which is not the most popular one, but--

In the Astrology I study, you are *NOT* your Sun sign and we rather use Rising sign + Moon + Mercury to talk about one's personality. Sun is about vitality, ideals, eye sight, the father figure and things like that. Still, it's the most popular reference people have and the easiest one to get since the Sun cycle is easy to follow, while the other aren't so much. So I don't mind considering it for funsies.

So, long story short, don't mind about it so much. If the Sun sign was the only thing that tells about someone's personality there would only be 12 types of people in the world, when in fact it's not even the most important one.

As for the guesses, I think it's just because Scorpio is this mysterious, secretive, reserved sign and you are much more sociable and open than someone would expect a Scorpio to be.
