Ghoul favorite food HC 👀
thank you anon for the ask!! (THIS TOOK FOREVER PARTS OF THE DRAFT KEPT GETTING DELETED AND I ALMOST THREW MY PHONE AT THE WALL!!!)
Tumblr media
———————————————————————
The Nameless Ghouls and their favourite foods!!
Tumblr media
Aether
• BANANAS!!!!
•He definitely has a sweet tooth, more leaning towards natural sugars than artificial sugars but either he loves.
•Aether is most likely to be caught in the ghoul’s kitchen shoveling grated cheese into his mouth at an unholy (heh) hour at the night.
•Even though he loooooves bananas, he despises banana flavored candy.
Mountain
•He will absolutely fuck up a caeser salad. If you were to give him a salad on a paper plate he would get too excited and eat the plate too. :’)
•Like other Earth Ghouls he is a vegetarian of course.
Rain
•Just like Copia he absolutely loves pasta, from ravioli to rigatoni to fettuccine he will absolutely fuck up whatever pasta you put in front of him. He will inhale any noodles within the ministry grounds, whether they’re cooked or not.
•You know how wolves get territorial over well, territory? Rain gets territorial over pasta. He once pushed Sodo down a flight of stairs when he found out he ate his almost week old spaghetti.
•Rain is quite the talented chef, hanging around Terzo when he was cooking he managed to get some lessons from the former Papa. Days when he misses Terzo the most he’ll cook some of the meals he was first taught how to make, just to reminisce on the memories and feel closer to him.
Sodo
•He loves spicy and sour food, or anything with some kick for that matter, but he has some of the most sensitive tastebuds out of the ghouls, hell, even out of everyone in the ministry.
•Whenever he does eat spicy food, he always has a glass of milk nearby, despite Cirrus telling him that its better for him to drink water.
•Sometimes he uses sour candy to ground himself whenever he’s especially stressed, whether it be one of the ghouls that’s getting on his nerves, or touring he always keeps a bag of sour patch kids with him, or for more stressful times of the year he’ll keep some warheads in his pockets.
•In terms of cooking? He cannot cook. Sodo has almost burnt down the ministry a couple times trying to cook. Did he once he make cupcakes that were so burnt that they made Rain throw up? We’ll never know. 🤫
Swiss
•Swiss isn’t exactly picky when it comes to food, he’ll most likely eat anything you put in front of him.
•Although he’s fine with all food, he has a special place in his heart for international food, it could be sushi, ramen, mole, enchiladas, paella, or pad thai, but when he’s done eating it he might take a couple bites of the plate too.
•He can cook very well, being able to make some of the meals listed above. Learning some of his best recipes from Rain he always tries to linger around the kitchen when the water ghoul is cooking, just to get more ideas and what not.
Cumulus
•Like Aether she has one of the biggest sweet tooth of the group, having a particular love for chocolate. She looooooves chocolate waffles not really caring whether they’re pre made or not.
•She is incredible at making desserts, especially cookies. It’s like taking a bite of heaven (ironically). As much as she doesn’t make them, Sodo and Aether are big fans of her mexican wedding cookies.
•Just like Special Ghoul brings toys, she makes pastries and goodies for the orphans in the ministry, bringing them year round. She’ll sometimes bring Copia to tell the kids some of his lighthearted stories from his time in the orphanage.
Cirrus
•She’s a big lover of seafood, her two favourite dishes being salmon patties and tuna melts.
•Although she is an air ghoul she does love restaurants or anything for that matter by the sea. Cirrus thinks it’s very relaxing to just enjoy the ocean because how it’s an entirely different world just a few miles out.
•This ghoulette is mainly in charge of keeping Sodo out of the kitchen to prevent any disasters that may or may not burn down the ministry.

Hope you enjoyed anon and whoever else is reading this! Happy late new years! <3 (once again sorry for how long this took)

would you like some recipes? if so, what foods do you like?
oooh i would, thank you!!! it's going to be a minute before i can transition to actually cooking from a recipe (Kitchen Is Scary When You Don't Know What You're Doing, hence hellofresh) but at some point in the future i will probably go recipe hunting :) so definitely yes! i tend to like pasta, pizza, indian food, & mexican food, plus also i am trying to figure out how to learn to like salads lmao. and also any dessert is always very good, especially something chocolate-y.
and omg also worth mentioning that i'm vegetarian!!!

Wellness Wednesday:
Plotting - Planning
Plotting/Planning on what?
I am plotting, planning, prepping for a Family Road Trip, a Bro Trip - In General PTO/Vacation, a Short Term Meal/Diet Challenge, Next Year's Challenge (52 in 24), Possible Birthday Party for Myself, and What my First Real Cheat Meal is going to look like January 1st, 2024...
That's what's rolling through my head - helps me pass the time.
Beyond that - I don't feel like much is going on - Feel like I am in a limbo. I definitely feel better than I did last week - teetering back to neutral - hopefully moving towards the "positive".
Found a new respect/passion for reading comics... I've enjoyed them in the past but found some nice trades recently that have increased the flame.
Movie-wise - I am fizzling out. Nothing looking good - sitting good lately. Hopefully Barbie can rekindle my love.
In other news I've been taking naps during my work lunch. They have been greatly needed and cherished but haven't cured my sleep pains.
Had another plateau in weightloss - no sweat - been feeling good about my body lately.
Basically... been just a chill week.

After like three days of thinking, if you're still open to offering adulthood advice, the plague of my existence: how the fuck do you decide what to make for dinner (including the 'what should I put on my meal plan list?' step)?
this is a hard one, because the short answer is basically just "vibes"
let's try to break it down at least into some tips, though.
in my house, any time we try a new meal or version of a recipe, everyone casts a vote: "I would do it again" or "I wouldn't do that again". this is usually done in a melodramatic way and turned into a playful fight. strict democratic majority doesn't always win if the cook is in the minority, but it's a start. meals that people would do again get added to the List.
the List has abso-fucking-lutely every communally edible meal on it. meals that are close variations on each other are all included. the List is sorted by categories like "chicken", "beef", "pork", "vegetarian", "pasta", like a cookbook. sides and desserts are not on it. you could make a separate list for them but it's not as important and wouldn't be a capital L List.
if you're looking at your List and it's pitiful, try out some of your favorite meals' cousins! not just white people taco night, but enchiladas! different stir-fry sauces! and then try some terrifying american casseroles with too much cheese and some canned cream soup!! they ain't bad!!!! look at different crockpot meats for ciabatta sandwiches, french dip et al! stuff your chicken breast with something!! go nuts!
do not consult the List when you have just eaten a full meal. do not consult the List when you are in the process of cooking a meal and your whole house smells deliciously like that food, so that the question "What would everyone like to eat this week?" is inevitably met with "idk the thing I'm smelling right now"
pose the question, "What would everyone like to eat this week?" take suggestions. write them down.
supplement these suggestions (or your blank sheet of paper if people are feeling unhelpful) with meals from the List. in my house, we cook...a lot.....like...six days a week. so when we're making a list we aim for one meal with pasta, one with rice, one Asian, one Mexican, one soup (or two in winter), a grilled meal in summer, with no more than two beefs. we try not to repeat anything sooner than three weeks, or we'll get tired of it and ruin it for much longer than three weeks. depending on what AcTiViTiEs we've got planned for the week we'll plan a crockpot meal or a sauce/soup we have in the freezer for that night. you want to balance your weekly plan with some less intensive meals so you don't get overwhelmed.
we arrange our meals into a Plan, but it's not set in stone. we were supposed to have sloppy joes on Tuesday but the meat accidentally was frozen and we didn't have time to thaw it out so we had chicken fajitas instead. not the end of the world.
and the true tip from the Cate Clan: always have pancake/waffle mix in the pantry and a frozen pizza in the freezer, so if you can't bear to make a full meal you have easy options.

Do you have a favorite meal someone's made for you? what foods remind you of home or of someone?, what do you like to eat when they feel like shit (emotionally or actually sick)?
YAAAAAS I’m so psyched for this question, I love it!! 💖
So, my mom grew up in a family of 7, and she was the 2nd oldest. Both of my grandparents worked long hours and so her oldest sister started cooking super young, and my mom started cleaning. Because of this very early division of labor, my mom was never really into cooking, but my aunt…oh my god.
Going to her house is incredible, because she always cooks absolutely amazing meals that are full of seasonal fresh veggies, often from her own garden. But even better, I lived with her and my uncle for about a year when I was interning (ie not getting paid) and let me tell you…I ate like fucking ROYALTY during that year. Plus, I got to be her sous chef when I was home and I learned an infinite amount of helpful things. I think honestly, the best part was getting home after a 10-14 hours day and hour commute and ALWAYS finding a fridge full of delicious, healthy food. Like, all I had to do was heat it up. It was often some kind of frittata, some amazing homemade pesto with fresh pasta, or stir-fry.
She’s the one who makes coleslaw a lot, btw, and here’s the basic method:
Always start with at least 2 kinds of cabbage - one green and one purple, cut thinly on a mandolin. Usually at least a few other cruciferous veggies too, like Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, etc, also cut small.
Add some other crunchy veggies: shredded or matchstick-cut carrots, radishes,  celery, jicama, beets, whatever you’ve got.
Add little oil/fat
Add whatever vinegar or acid goes with the rest of the meal (IE balsamic, red wine, apple cider, or rice vinegar, harissa, or lemon/lime juice, even hot sauce)
Optional: If you want a creamy coleslaw, add a spoonful or two of Greek yogurt
Season LIBERALLY, with whatever spices or fresh herbs go with the meal. Always include salt, pepper, a little chili powder, and garlic & onion powders, but everything is optional.
STIR AGGRESSIVELY UNTIL THE LIQUIDS AND SPICES HAVE EMULSIFIED AND COATED THE VEGGIES. TASTE AS YOU GO AND ADD SEASONING IF NECESSARY.
(Examples: an Italian meal might mean: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, fresh basil, fresh parsley, fresh minced garlic, a few spoonfuls of pesto, dried oregano or rosemary, etc. A stir-fry might get peanut oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, fresh Thai basil, green onions, cilantro/coriander leaves, star anise, cloves, etc. Mexican food might get lime juice, fresh cilantro, cumin, cayenne, ancho, chipotle, hot sauce or Tajin.)
Also optional: add-ins like tomatoes, olives, peppers, artichoke hearts, capers, cucumbers: things that are juicy or more delicate. They get mixed in now, more gently.
Finish by sprinkling something crunchy on top: toasted nuts or seeds, croutons, fried noodles. Et voila. Auntie Em’s Coleslaw.
(Which stores brilliantly, btw, because the flavors only get better as they all marinate together and because the base is hearty and crunch things, it doesn’t get soggy and gross like most leftover salad.)
Well...that turned into a full recipe, lol. ANYWAY...
Other favorite meals that people have made me, which always make me think of them:
This layered enchilada-inspired dish that my friend’s mom used to make all the time was my absolute favorite and I have a full recipe for that too. It doesn’t claim to be authentically Mexican; it’s like a California/vegetarian version of the classic Tex Mex dish called “Burrito Pie,” but it is SO fucking good and satisfying and the kind of thing you can eat all year round because it’s both warm and filling but also full of fresh veggies and easily can be eaten with a big salad (or Auntie Em’s Coleslaw) for a lighter meal in hot weather.
Also my grandmother used to make truly outstanding oven-baked mac and cheese.
My friend's grandmother added a vegetarian tamale to their holiday tradition just because I used to help and I didn't eat the meat ones. (Roasted poblanos with crema, Oaxaca, and Cotija btw, absolutely fucking outstanding.)
What reminds me of home, is generally just the foods that my family makes or that we ate together. My brother makes the best mashed potatoes in the world. My mom makes lentil soup that I’m always in the mood for 24/7, and these dark chocolate/peanut butter/coconut cookie bars that are to die for. My dad loves to grill, so perfectly grilled salmon or corn or eggplant/zucchini remind me of him. My other grandparents always took me to Jewish delis, so whenever I have a tuna melt or kosher pickles, I think of them.
When I feel like shit, I want a big bowl of something warm and comforting, which is incidentally most of the foods listed above. Something starchy and cheesy and warm. Mostly soups and stews with potatoes, pasta, rice or dumplings in it. Stuff I can eat with a spoon, curled up in front of the TV. One of my favorites is roasted pepper and tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. If I’m actually physically sick, I usually crave things that are kind of bland and starchy like pastina/pastellina or polenta with a little butter on it.
I could talk about this all day so I'm just gonna shut up now. LOL

American Food: A Tapestry of Taste and Tradition
American Food: A Tapestry of Taste and Tradition
American food culture is a vibrant mosaic woven from the threads of history, immigration, and regional diversity. From the hearty comfort foods of the Midwest to the spicy flavors of the Southwest, the culinary landscape of the United States reflects the rich tapestry of its people and their collective experiences. In this exploration of American cuisine, we delve into the flavors, traditions, and innovations that have shaped the nation's culinary identity.
Colonial Roots: Forging a New Culinary Identity
The story of American cuisine begins with the arrival of European settlers in the New World. Faced with unfamiliar ingredients and cooking methods, these early colonists adapted traditional recipes to suit their new surroundings, creating a uniquely American culinary heritage. Corn, beans, and squash – staples of the indigenous diet – were incorporated into dishes like succotash and cornbread, while native game such as turkey and venison became prized ingredients in colonial kitchens. Meanwhile, trade with Europe brought new flavors and ingredients to the table, laying the foundation for the diverse culinary landscape that would emerge in the centuries to come.
Immigrant Influence: A Global Melting Pot
Throughout its history, the United States has been shaped by waves of immigration from around the world, each bringing with it a rich culinary heritage and a treasure trove of flavors. From Italian pasta and Chinese stir-fries to Mexican tacos and Indian curries, immigrant communities have left an indelible mark on American cuisine, enriching it with new ingredients, techniques, and traditions. In cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, these diverse culinary influences converge, creating a melting pot of flavors that reflects the multicultural tapestry of American society.
Regional Diversity: From Sea to Shining Sea
The vast expanse of the United States is home to a diverse array of regional cuisines, each with its own distinctive flavors, ingredients, and traditions. In the South, soulful dishes like barbecue, fried chicken, and collard greens reign supreme, while in the Northeast, seafood takes center stage with dishes like clam chowder, lobster rolls, and steamed clams. In the Midwest, hearty fare like meatloaf, casseroles, and hot dishes warm the soul, while in the West, fresh produce and vibrant flavors are celebrated in dishes like avocado toast, fish tacos, and California rolls. Whether it's a classic dish passed down through generations or a modern interpretation inspired by global flavors, American cuisine is as diverse and dynamic as the landscapes that inspire it.
Modern Trends: From Farm to Table
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in local, sustainable, and artisanal foods, driven by a desire for healthier, more environmentally friendly alternatives to mass-produced, processed foods. Farmers' markets, farm-to-table restaurants, and community-supported agriculture programs have become increasingly popular, connecting consumers with fresh, locally grown produce and supporting small-scale farmers and producers. Similarly, there has been a growing interest in plant-based diets, with more Americans than ever before embracing vegetarian, vegan, and flexitarian lifestyles.
Conclusion: Celebrating the Journey of American Cuisine
In conclusion, American food culture is a celebration of diversity, innovation, and tradition. From its colonial roots to its modern-day incarnation as a global culinary powerhouse, American cuisine reflects the rich tapestry of its people and their collective experiences. Whether it's a classic comfort food dish passed down through generations or a modern interpretation inspired by global flavors, American food has the power to bring people together, spark conversations, and create lasting memories. So let us raise our glasses and toast to the ever-evolving journey of American cuisine – a delicious adventure that knows no bounds.

In today's bustling world, preparing wallet-friendly family dinners that are both quick and easy is a priority for many households. Balancing the need for convenience with budget-friendly options can sometimes be challenging. Still, with some creativity and planning, delicious meals can be enjoyed without breaking the bank. Here are some delightful family dinner ideas easy, affordable, and sure to please everyone.
One-Pot Pasta Delights
One-pot pasta dishes are a lifesaver for busy families. They require minimal preparation, which results in a satisfying meal. Choose inexpensive pasta varieties like spaghetti or penne and pair them with budget-friendly ingredients such as canned tomatoes, garlic, and seasonal vegetables like zucchini or spinach. For added heartiness, add some protein, like sliced sausages or beans. Toss everything into one pot, cook, and serve dinner!
Flavorful Rice Bowls
Rice bowls are versatile and can be tailored to suit different tastes. Use affordable staples like rice or quinoa as a base and top with various toppings. For instance, try a Mexican-inspired bowl with rice, black beans, corn, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream. Or opt for an Asian twist with rice, stir-fried vegetables, and a teriyaki or soy sauce-glazed protein like chicken or tofu. Rice bowls are not only economical but also allow for endless creativity.
Hearty Vegetable Stir-Fry
Stir-fries are quick and easy to make and can be very budget-friendly. Utilize whatever vegetables are in season or on sale at your local market. Bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and snap peas are all excellent choices. Add a protein like tofu, chicken, or thinly sliced beef, and flavor with soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Serve over rice or noodles for a complete and satisfying meal that won't stretch your wallet.
Budget-Friendly Casseroles
Casseroles are a classic go-to for affordable family dinners. They often utilize inexpensive ingredients like pasta, rice, canned soup, and frozen vegetables. Try a tuna noodle casserole with canned tuna, egg noodles, peas, and a creamy sauce topped with breadcrumbs. Or experiment with a vegetarian-friendly option like a black bean and sweet potato casserole. These dishes are not only economical but also great for leftovers.
Homemade Pizza Night
Making pizza at home can be much cheaper than ordering takeout. Purchase pre-made pizza dough or use pita bread or tortillas as a base. Top with tomato sauce, cheese, and an array of toppings like bell peppers, onions, olives, and whatever leftover meats or vegetables you have on hand. Let everyone customize their mini pizza for a fun, interactive, easy dinner on the wallet.
Creative Quesadillas
Quesadillas are quick, customizable, and budget-friendly. Use flour tortillas and fill with cheese, beans, leftover cooked meats, or vegetables. Cook on a skillet until golden and crispy. Serve with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping. This meal is kid-friendly and a hit for adults looking for a simple yet satisfying dinner.
Rotisserie Chicken Remix
Rotisserie chicken from the grocery store is a fantastic base for many easy meals. Use it to make chicken tacos, shred it into a salad, or add it to a hearty soup or pasta dish. The versatility and affordability of rotisserie chicken make it a valuable ingredient for busy families looking to whip up a quick and tasty dinner.
Enjoying delicious family dinners on a budget doesn't have to be complicated. With some planning and creativity, these wallet-friendly meal ideas can help you serve satisfying dinners without the stress of breaking the bank. Experiment with these recipes and tailor them to your family's tastes to create memorable meals around the dinner table.
