The Nurturing Queen and the Greedy Duke

Credit to @sky00asara in this post for this idea I love guys who are moms (if you get what I mean) This will follow the same rough story beats but will still have a little of my own flair.

The Nuturing Queen, Mother of the Wandering Princess and Erratic Prince, has been said to provide protection and inspire devotion to all who come across her. Praised as Balance and Duality personified, she is a large influence and very commonly mentioned in every scroll, book, art piece, and all magic artifacts that Constantine has seen. He's heard from so many beings of how great she is, her feats, and her being the largest connection between the Unknown Realms and Earth.

Here comes the problem. The Nurturing Queen has an enemy who's been around just as long as she has, who's also been seen not long after wherever she goes, chasing her trail and lurking. The Greedy Duke. He wishes to have her as his own, and take the throne to himself, subsequently plunging the Unknown Realms into chaos. Whenever he confronts the Nurturing Queen, legendary battles commence, and he is beat back.

But now, things are going wrong. The Lazurus Pits have been reported as acting, well, erratic. The Erratic Prince, some beings say, has been seen discussing things with the Greedy Duke. They fear his loyalties may not lie with his family.

A shift has been felt in the magics community. Unknown Realms Beings have ventured into Earth, either out of curiosity or to wreak havoc. Now, at the watchtower, JLD work out how to summon a being and demand to know what's going on, the rest of the Justice League desperate.

When they finally do summon one, they're launched into the Unknown Realms as an answer, told to "Find our Queen" as the being dissappears. They're on a floating island in a green void.

Seasonal Event: Christmas 2024

The Christmas event translation is finally here! Sorry that it's so late but I hope you enjoy this wholesome event centered on Nagi as much as I did!

I did the bulk of the event out of sheer excitement but thank you Dimi for handling Ch 7 (and ev3ns in general) and Jelly for handling Ch 8!

Synopsis:

Christmas season has arrived at HAMA once again. Families and couples walk along the streets happily as they take in the sparkling illuminations that decorate the town. The anticipation for a white Christmas is at an all time high as snowfall has coated the scenery earlier than expected.

At the edge of this town filled with smiles stands Nagi, with a box full of handmade wreaths for sale. After fainting outside and almost freezing to death, he is coincidentally found and picked up by Liguang, with whom he shares his plan of "becoming Santa."

Nagi, who has gotten used to not relying on anyone else for all these years was determined to carry out this mission solo, but with the frequency of his accidents increasing and having many more people to give presents to this year—

Will he be able to complete this mission safely?

Can he find a reliable reindeer to be his partner?

Most importantly, will he be able to enjoy this white Christmas to the fullest himself?

I mean. Not at first. They do ask the healer to come but they point out that their friend might run away seeing them, or not let the healer examine him

So they teach the manhunters what to do to examine Dream and what they are looking for. Open wounds, sickly patches of scales, etc etc

Dream let's himself be manhandled and examined with no issue, because he himself does similar stuff to get notes on their anatomy

(...no other reason. There are many benefits to being a marine biologist)

The manhunters can't find anything :[ Dream's body is not normal but it's not sick in any of the ways the healer told them about, and they can't get him to eat medicine because he doesn't eat

So the healer agrees to come meet Dream, and thats when he realizes "Oh shit. Im going to lose my fucking job. Im going to lose my job and get beheaded publicly by the international association of mermaid studies and care"

Thankfully, no one is that mad at him for it. The current team preparing for first contact is very excited for those news. Mermaids clearly display pack instincts, similar to wolves and humans! Even towards outsiders! It's a great relief to know that, and that their society might work a little similar to ours

Dream does not lose his job, but he's instructed to stay farther away from the city, and to take care to not be guided closer

...the mermaids next attempt is a lot more successful, and a little more forceful

The thing that stands out the most to me about Stage of Betrayal is the fact that Rei proves himself completely incapable of envisioning a world in which Hiro would ever willingly leave him behind. Hiro killed himself because Rye made him, because Rye gave him his own gun and forced him to shoot.

To me, the kicker isn't that Rei is actually wrong about this (even strategically speaking, killing himself and destroying all connections to his loved ones was objectively a good move on Hiro's part, and not at all unreasonable nor unheard of considering his job and circumstances), but how he's so deep in denial that he just can't see what happened through any other lenses.

He ignores any and all inconsistencies within his deduction because to acknowledge them would mean he'd have to take into consideration the idea that Hiro immediately chose to kill himself as option number one instead of trying to survive until they could at least attempt an extraction, which feels an awful lot like abandonment. It feels like Hiro put the mission and secrecy above everything else, even Rei (which we know isn't true. Hiro killed himself because he loved the people close to him more than anything and he wanted to keep them safe— which, if you spend more than ten seconds thinking about the scenario, becomes immediately obvious as the motivation behind his suicide).

Hiro killed himself because he was terrified he'd be forced to drag Rei into the line of fire. He did that out of love, without thinking, while Rei can't even consider that as an option because they have fundamentally different ways of thinking and to him it would mean that Hiro didn't care enough to stay alive.

And Rei, being an extremely emotional person, wouldn't handle that well at all— which only leaves him the option of denial (be it subconscious or not).

Top Rangers have callsigns! In fact, they typically have two. Their "official" callsign... and their "actual" callsign.

Their "official" callsign is used by operators and other rangers on particularly perilous missions to avoid identification should any communication be intercepted. These signs are usually earned through respect or particular displays of badassery, though some exceptions apply.

Their "actual" callsign is a nickname they earn from doing something stupid, or something arbitrary which just happens to set them apart.

For example, Keith's "official" callsign is "Boomerang", because of how he "came back" after being sent flying several miles south of Pueltown during Operation Brighton, and his "actual" callsign is "Damsel", because he got kidnapped during a mission once.
