Derby is for colts and fillies alike so long as they’re 3 year old thoroughbreds. 3 fillies have won the derby, though the race is historically dominated by colts due to speed qualifications. The oaks race is for fillies yes, but the derby is not just for colts like your post implies. Please stop trying to spread false information. Yes people who attend derby are mostly rich white folk but behind the scenes are poc workers and people who genuinely have a love for horses and the sport alike

i struggle to read marcilles succubus as a sexual fantasy

i feel that chilchuck is the only one who gets a clear cut sex fantasy presented to him bc hes the only member of the party with the kind of sexual experience that would make him let his guard down that way. hes been married his entire adult life, was sexually active since he was a teenager, hes the only one who makes sex jokes (which dont land, see that extra on tentacles), and we know hes been faithful to the wife he has not seen in years. that is a very long time to be dry

while its certainly possible to read marcilles fantasy as a virgin maidens desired seduction, its also very chaste even for that. her knight is covered head to toe, and looks like an overdesigned fantasy character, with no sexual appeal. hes posed on a horse, but in such a way that specifically covers his groin. there isnt a physicality to him that kui uses often to draw the eyes to a sensual nature--compare that pose to how the winged lion poses (for laios, not marcille, he ALSO is posed less sexually when with marcille, though i could be forgetting a pose here or there) to highlight his seductive nature.

even in swinging down from his horse, theres just no carnality. hes stiff legged, body turned away from the camera.

its all very romantic in a courtly fashion. i.e. the fantasy is a lot more about this decorated man telling her shes a princess who belongs in a castle. its a 12yos dream boyfriend made real.

marcille isnt comfortable enough with herself as a potentially sexual being to get even close to what works on chilchuck--she seems almost afraid of recognizing peer-to-peer relationships, and that deeply impacts her ability to engage with sex. look back at how she engages with falins shows of intimacy in the bath scene and the bed scene after: when falin engages as an equal, as an adult, marcille panics, and pushes her back into a childs role. she starts lecturing falin when she tries to return mana, not listening to her say she has a well of it right now. when falin comments that shes grown tall and strong and may not fit in a single bed with marcille anymore, marcille dismisses her with "you'll always be a kid to me!"

while marcille is not a child, she straight up is not ready for sex yet bc of that resistance to having peer relationships

-jerry and his wife come visit dialtown every christmas soley so that gingi doesnt run all the way out there to visit them and get hopelessly lost. theyre doing quite well!

A bit of a disclaimer ig...

Hi guys,

This is going to be a long post that sounds slightly rant-y & I'm going to apologize in advance for that. I am going to make exactly ONE post (this one) about this topic, and I will not be discussing it further or posting about it again. I will also not be responding to any negative comments but deleting them instead.

These are my personal opinions and [...not *trying* to sound rude, but there's no other way to say it...] a bunch of random people online aren't going to change my opinions.

My husband is an artist. He does canvas painting & draws comic books (think anti-hero dark horse). I paint furniture (kinda mini murals) & make chibi drawings. I've also been writing fanfiction since the late 90s.

That being said, this post is about AI art.

I get the controversy, I do. But I've heard this argument before, when fanfiction became more popularized. The whole "You're just stealing someone else's work & changing it up to call it your own" is (at its core) the same argument against AI. The only difference is that instead of you yourself changing it, you're allowing a machine to do it.

But I digress...

Over the last week, I have received several messages about my use of AI art. First & foremost, my stuff is appropriately tagged as AI.

Second, I don't sell or advertise these pictures in any way. In fact, none of them have been posted anywhere but here (as of 6/1/24).

Third, and probably most important, I DONT MAKE THEM FOR YALL. Fanfiction & fanart are a HOBBY. It is something that I do because I enjoy it and it destresses me. I DO NOT do it, hoping I'll get 1000s of followers, views, likes, etc. Every story I write, I print & bind for my library. I will now be doing the same with my AI pictures.

I have a condition that has a symptom called Maladaptive Daydreaming. Because of this, my head is full of an alarming amount of excruciatingly detailed & unrealistic scenarios and images. (To the point that it affects my everyday life).

I can't necessarily recreate the images in my mind without help & the only way to get rid of the random scenarios is to write them out. So I do write them. And now I use AI to help me get a BASE image. I do still go in myself and edit/redraw parts of each generated image to fit them to the characters I want them to represent. I do thus using digital art.

Granted, there's a whole other group of people that think digital art isn't real art... but that's a discussion for another day. Anyway...

TLDR:

I use AI art & will continue to despite some people's dislike. I will continue to delete any and all comments left publicly that are malicious, rude, or condescending. My stories & are are for me. If others enjoy it, great, that's freaking awesome. If not, there are literally thousands of other fanfic authors you can follow instead of me.

Again, I apologize, I know this sounds rude. But I need to be 100% transparent on this one. I am extremely grateful for every folllower & reader I have. I won't lie & say comments/positive interaction isn't a serotonin boost because it is. Yall also give me more motivation to actually complete a story vs. moving on to the next idea. But I'm not going to change the way I do things to appease someone I don't even know.

This is one of the few things I enjoy doing in my free time & have been doing it for 25 years now, and in the last 5 or so years ALL fandoms have gotten so toxic its hard to enjoy anything anymore. Last time it got like this, I simply stopped posting. I'd rather not do that again, but if people (who aren't even following me) don't leave me alone, I'll probably have to do it again, sadly.

But for now, hopefully this post will give people with different opinions to go ahead and block me from their feed. We're not going to agree so instead of wasting energy arguing, let's keep the peace & agree to stay off if each others feeds.

I won't judge you on your idea that you feel it's your duty to harass people over their choices & you won't judge me for enjoying something. 😉

Anyways Becky is always at 100, she was based off the typical 2000s high school mean girl, think regina george, courtney shayne or (even adagio dazzle if we go into 2010s) etc etc.

She's in charge of her “clique” we usually call BHL (Becky, Hanna, Lisa). And she dedicated her every waking moment, terrorizing our protagonist Debbie Smith (I mixed up their names, I'm still crying).

Becky didn't always used to be like this. She was very naive, and always ALWAYS admired the older smith sister, Matilda. Matilda was everything Becky wanted to be, smart, beautiful and extremely popular 😍. 

Quite literally ruled the school, fan clubs and “social media” accounts based around her, hell a mini celebrity (hmm i guess influencer if that even existed back then).

Matilda was the perfect person to be and be around, that is unless you mess with her little sister, Debbie. 

Ruthless is not even the right word to describe how protective she was over Debbie. She went from sweet to bitch real fast, blood would be spilled, teeth pulled out anything you want to call it, physical beat down, social beat down, mental beat down.

You’d be destroyed!!! And that's exactly what happened to Becky after she accidentally pissed off Debbie. 

Matilda beat her ass so badly (talk about meeting your heroes huh?) and proceed to humiliate Becky in front of the entire school (think like the part in Carrie when the pig blood got dumped or something equivalent) to make matters worse Matilda recorded everything and spread it throughout the town, yikes. Becky ended up in the hospital and did not return to school. 

Becky’s not the only person Debbie fucked over by being a compete asshole, Debbie created a whole lotta enemies (including Hanna and Lisa) but never experienced the consequences.

Matilda continued her reign over the school until she came down with an illness and had to leave. Almost like fate right?

Suddenly Debbie was left without her protection and everyone came out the woodworks to get her ass.

Starting freshman year of highschool Becky Maurice returned, teaming up with Hanna and Lisa. They proceeded to jump Debbie every single day, they were going ham, torture basically. Everything you could imagine times 10, teen girls are vicious. 

Becky finally got a warped version of what she wanted, superficial beauty, someone else to do all her classwork for her and extreme “popularity”.

Whether or not she liked it everyone knew her face and name, might as well try to attach it to being da baddest bitch around and waging a war on Debbie stupid ahh. 

Everyone was happy to have their revenge and most moved on.

Except Becky, Becky can't go anywhere without that video haunting her, she could never move on and she refused to forget what happened to her (rightfully so).

Becky never got the love or respect she wanted, once Debbie became an outcast no one really cared about Becky anymore. People used to cheer her on but now Becky just seems desperate and somewhat pathetic.

Trying to get revenge or a rile out of someone who is just numb and accepts everything

“Beating a dead horse”.

Becky does a lot of dedicating energy to someone she hates instead of focusing on herself. Once she graduates she will never see Debbie again, but without Debbie, Becky literally has nothing. No career, no hobbies, no drive, no motivation, no future.

She’s one dimensional and that's going to hold her back from trying to achieve anything other than half assed revenge. 

I love Becky so much but i neeeeed her to just chill out, you’re better than bum ass Debbie don't let your hate consume you <3 be bitter but be successful too, Debbie got nothing going for her dont go down the same path.

ok ok so i have Elliot (he/him transboy/girl/nonbinary, bicurious/"straight" (queer)) and Sekani (he/she genderfluid pan or bisexual i cant remember)!!! they came from a really bad comic i wanted to make, they were both reapers, based off of the piers anthony series, the book theif and i think one more thing but i dont remember.

Sekani was previously the Egyptian God, Anubis, but i recently thought that calling him my oc while using that name was hella cringe of me, so now she's Sekani!

Elliot died in an accident and (like the piers anthony book) since he was balanced sinful and nonsinful [idfr] he could become a reaper to either let him go to heaven or send him straight to hell

Elliot was also a big trauma dumping character and also helped trans my gender, i love him to death, but i feel bad for him too, he just suffers a lot for me! also. he has a gun. this made him cool. idk why

i dont draw them very much anymore, i can't quite get a grasp on them for some reason, mayhaps my art style changed too much and they just. don't work. i don't use them in anything, but i would like to. i know they have to change, but i'm not ready for that.

hey folks!! i’ve been working on some new stuff for cons and also wanted to type through some night thoughts.

okay i was going to put a wip here but apparently thats not in my camera roll right now. apologies.

i’ve been having some ups and downs the past few years and i think its had a negative impact on my creative motivation. and with the large gap from my previous work, i’m feeling sort of vulnerable right now? i’m trying to break out of it with some new prints for cons but its hard to enjoy the process when i can’t stop comparing myself to others

i think thats inevitable, something every artist has to find their workaround for but god its hard out there!!

but yeah!! i dont want to focus on this negativity anymore than i already have, its not constructive.

-THANK YOU im glad some of my more recent works (in my more current style) are appealing 2 people! like i wanna draw my own way even though i think it gets less notes... the higurashi fanarts (hanyuu and shion) r very memorable pieces to me because its when i started doing the loose sketches with the thin lines and block colors and thats the direction i reallyreally wanted to take my style in. also the rainbow is rian my friend rian

-i draw in paint tool sai! the only program i used before that was sketchbook pro, which i didnt like because the brushes were kind of... blurry/smudgy? sai allows you to zoom in and draw pixel by pixel which is something i like, and i like the way it does its blending. its also just easier for me to understand. i didnt pay for it i think i found some deviantart page that had the link, id have to find it again

-i draw with a wacom intuos tablet! its lasted me... almost 10 years now. ive heard newer ones are poorer quality in terms of at least the nibs needing to be replaced constantly, so idk what the most recommended tablet these days is. ive drawn with my mouse and tbh it caused awful hand pain so i would not recommend this. i draw on my phone with my finger sometimes but i find doing it on my laptop easier, however it is doable once you get used to it

-the way i got into digital art... well. i still have an archive of my earliest art if you wanna see! i was 14 n just drew random shit, often lining over doodles i did on paper and coloring them in. i think esp if youre overwhelmed start with making like throwaway experimental pieces, scribble around, doodle stupid things and color them in with different brushes and see what you enjoy. and then you can just keep the files to yourself if they dont look too good or maybe itll look interesting, it depends i guess haha. the other thing that ive always found helped me was telling myself id draw every day even if it was a little scribble or the tiniest amount of work on a wip bc getting a habit going helped my art a Lot beause it helped me spend more time thinking n focusing on it

more specific advice for sai that i found useful- using clipping groups & the preserve opacity functions are both lifesavers in terms of not spending so much time trying to color in the lines. if you color in a base layer you can just put everything above it as a clipping group and just not worry about it anymore. i also really like using the filters (like multiply) to mess around with the colors a drawing has, though sometimes its more effective to just select a layer/individual color and fuck with the hue/saturation/etc until it looks good. when i color, esp when its not turning out how i wanted to, i rely on shifting colors A LOT. n also mixing colors together using a blending brush and then colorpicking the intermediate color. very useful

-for the most part i stick to uncolored pencil doodles on like, notebook paper (even though i have some fancy supplies X[ one day) but i LOVE making things with clay, wish it was more accessible to do at home. i have a handful of clay animal statues and stuff that i made in my ceramics class in high school. would looove to do more

-because my poses tend to be very pushed/cartoony using references of real people isnt always useful (though obv knowing the basics of anatomy always helps) so in those cases ill use other cartoony art i like as inspiration, i try to see what i like about their poses nd emulate that with my own. sometimes when im struggling ill just do a bunch of studies where i copy art i like to try to get a feel for what im missing. mostly ive realized i like when the pose conveys some level of like, volume and taking up a 3D space (which im still definitely not a master of but bullshitting it can be fun). and i also like to have a balance of curved and angular shapes. sometimes i try to just do a pose that conveys a specific emotion or i just make shit up lol

alsooooo i cant reccomend aimless doodling enough! just random shapes, turning the random shapes into creatures, trying and trying and trying different ways to draw something until you like it, i feel like the things my hand makes when i shut my brain off and just scribble can inspire me as well, and i try to emulate whatever i made by chance while doodling. and if your doodles turn out better in traditional i tend to consider using a photo of a drawing as a way to skip the "preliminary sketch" phase nd drawing a rough sketch over that which i then use for my drawing (or just directly color since i draw very fast/lazy...)

Opinion on circuses, now and in history: I think the people that perform in circuses are so talented. I also love seeing the performances. I don’t support animal cruelty so I would never contribute to any circuses that have tigers or bears and abuse them to perform. I don’t necessarily have anything against camels and such as its basically like having cows. Also in the Netherlands there are very strict rules to keeping animals for the circus and honestly if you treat an animal right, don’t expose it to any stressful situations and don’t make it do things it doesn’t wanna do. Its like learning your dogs tricks. So support the ones that do right and boycot the ones that dont. That aside I haven’t been to the circus in YEARS and have never been to one that had any other animals than camels lol but I would love to go to a circus performance with some amazing acrobats again.

Do you have a sense of direction, and if not what is the worst way you’ve gotten lost: not at all omg if I didn’t have google maps I would never go out. I don’t remember ever getting lost but I never take any risks so thats why lol.

After working for some time now on trying to make good photos I can fully say now that colors are shit and I hate them.

I start off nornal with a model and picking a color for it. Sadly because of dumb stupid idiot people there just aren't enough fucking colors for me to pick from anymore. Often times I'm stuck looking back at my problems where I can physically see the jump in color on a gradiant or some shit. Its called color banding and I cry when I see it.

Now there are workarounds. HDR images can work and I have a monitor that supports it (I love it more than any mortal creature just so i dont have to see banding as often). But news-flash, this technology is still new and not everyone is spebding large sums of money to get more colors.

Sometimes its not even more colors. Im using my phone right now with low brightness and a blue-light filter. Im literally throwing away some colors so my precious little eye balls aren't as strained and I can go to bed at a resonable hour (NOT HELPING). It's a good point though, I dont know how other people are going to view my works. They could be inverting their colors for some fucking reason and I cant do shit to make them look at my image the eay I want it to be seen.

There was a solution to this as well. Those fuckers over at Pantone® made a system so that whatever color you wanted woyld show. Them on their high horse figured out 'hey, lets just give a ton of colors codes and then work so that code always makes that color no matter what.' And it fucking worked. It worked until those fuckers decided I would need to license their shit if I wanted to use their fancy list of fancy colors. I may be passionate, but I'm also cheap and those nerds aren't getting a cent out of me.

Basically color is shit. I've seen color theorists and lighting mechanics and holy shit those people must have a really good supplier of illicit substances in order to figure it out and not want to pull their hair out. I could just go back to neat math. Math is deterministic and I dont have to complain about what colors look good and how washed things look if I decrease the brightness on my monitor. All I need to do is make some curve and color the curve, sure thats color but anything is fine. I can just choose red and no one will care.

Or maybe I just draw physically. I can't complain about the rasterization of pixels in the real world.
