That little monologue Alice had this episode about whether she knows the purpose of the OIAR freaked me the fuck out because I'm not totally sure if she's lying or not!!! au where no it wasn't misinformed zuko and aang who created republic city, who decided they knew what's best for the people living in the colonies despite no one in the gaang having experienced the fire nation's colonization of the earth kingdom, it was jet, jet who survived the violence against him by both his fire nation oppressors and the earth kingdom's secret police that served the interests of the government, jet who lived through the fire nation's colonization of the earth kingdom, jet who has had enough of it all and leads a revolution in his home against the fire nation who's oppressed them for 100~ years and the earth kingdom's ruling class. this of course would result in a very different republic city than in canon though.

I got a big influx of new followers from a few recent posts getting numbers which is really fun because its also happening at the same time as me getting a big influx of losing hundreds of followers due to an inflammatory harassment post going around about me where someone ive never met is making insane leaps in logic of claims about my character based on one meme post.

I don’t know how people don’t go insane after knowing the extent of corporate crimes across the planet. Nearly everything we interact with in the west was produced through slavery and poor working conditions. Everything is tainted.

#for nearly a decade as a communist I’ve gotten more and more insane after learning something new about corporations and western governments #i don’t even know how you lessen your consumption of slavery based products to a point where it makes a difference #it becomes a full time job to choose semi-ethical products #your vegan and organic products aren’t even safe from human suffering #every time i become lucid over no ethical consumption under late stage capitalism i want to turn into a monkey and rip people’s faces off #every ‘cute’ chocolate commercial becomes gore fest where people are flayed alive #nothing sweeter than child labor #every romantic diamond ad looks like screaming and crying and sweat and blood #every kiss begins with a gun against your back and a threat of death if labor stops #life is a horror film #and we’re just apathetic gluttonous blobs endlessly staring at billboards

I may be considering the crime of... Getting a business degree 🤢

#i Like my new job where i get to play in excel all day and i also like having financial security for the first time in my adult life #i was originally thinking about switching my major to sociology bc its another area that im interested in #but my mom may have talked me into considering a business degree as an option since sociology isnt a great fallback option...#the thought of majoring in business makes me gag tbh. but i mean... i DO like data analysis and there IS a masters for data analysis #and the bachelors degree in information systems would teach me new things about computers which might be cool #and they have an international business program that links in advanced study of foreign languages and cultures #and theres even a certificate program for sustainability that includes direct work with grassroots programs #AND all of this is intentionally made to be accessible to people who are already in the work field so i wouldnt need to quit my job...#...all of this plus a sociology minor (or double major if i can pull it off) is starting to look pretty good actually #BUT... can i withstand the pain of spending the next few years in classrooms full of business majors 🤔#real talk tho i was wanting to use my social work degree to go into policy anyways which could mean government OR corporate #...if i get a business major i could potentially speedrun the process of getting into corporate policy to make a difference that way #and my sociology minor (or major) would still support that #fuckin. trojan horse the companies i guess #i am rotating the idea in my mind with the emotional state of that gif of someone trying kombucha for the first time #rambling

ok the time has now come for going back to my old job and begging them to let me start the seasonal position early… there’s like a 0 percent chance that my old boss is gonna be there though cause it’s a weekend lol so i don’t really know what i’m hoping to get out of this but we’ll see

#i only left cause i did school full time in the fall and now my course load is so light #but it’s a government job (parks!!) so it’s like new hires usually start in late spring/early summer #and another round of new hires for the winter #but i’m technically not a new hire and they have employees year round so…#LET ME BACK PLELEEEWASSEEE

#my dads back in ohio again so im back on my own. i still feel terrible but at least i have a plan #i have 2 weeks of this semester left. so i have to not fail my genomics exam and work on a group project plus grade a bunch #shouldnt be too hard but everything makes me so tired rn and i just feel this barrier between myself and everything else #even when my dad was here. i just dont kno how to feel happy. just varied levels of stress #but after the semester is over ill have to find a job for the summer. which super stresses me out bc i havent really had a real job outside #academia and im worried about how stressful ill find it bc im sure its gonna suck but at least i wont have to work on my project #i just think if i had a normal job that doesnt dominate every aspect of my life id feel a little less terrible. or at least i wouldnt send #myself spiralling so much. if i stay here i might not survive it #but what if ill just make myself miserable wherever i am? i dunno. but im gonna try to find a non academic job this summer with the epa or #maybe the usgs. i mean ive gota a bachelor's and a masters in environmental topics. that's gotta count for something #just get a government job. pray for a not terrible set of coworkers. and build something from there #it just sucks bc i feel like everythings falling apart and like i kno if i gave it my all i could pull thru and get my phd but im just so #tired of struggling against something everyone else can do. i just cant read at a level appropriate for what im doing #ugh. i dont wanna study for genomics. i just wanna sleep. i just wish i wasn't in this position #and now i a baby about it. i mean my sisters r in similar positions bc the youngest is currently looking for a teaching job. and my middle #sister is looking to move to new york city in the next 6 months and she'd be quitting her job for that. so we're all sorta in flux #i just wanna not be flailing. not watch my hopes and dreams collapse. be excited about anything. im just sad bc i have to make hard choices #even if i know theyre the right ones to make if i want to continue to exist. sometimes u cant have the things u wany.#and that sucks and i hate it. theme of the year: sometimes life sucks and theres nothing u can do abt it #unrelated

haha, it's been a fun old 2024 so far, but i'm nearly back on my feet. it's just taken me the last two months to escape a abusive and exploitative job with a boss that had complete control over my life, who still to this day can't understand why i left or how difficult he's made my life by not paying my wages lmfao. kpop fans think they're delusional but they have nothing on this dude. he also kicked me out of staff housing knowing i had nowhere to go, but i've been lucky that my new job introduced me to another girl who let me have her spare room. in a way the stars have already aligned and i'm nearly back writing at the same pace i was before the whole thing imploded but like. christ on a candlestick. when i said i need a rich kpop boyfriend to pay my rent i didn't mean because i live on someone's floor.

anyway my career and ability to make money have been on my mind now that i have the ability to budget again, so you really did prove i can make money from writing just at the critical moment. signs from god. i'm telling you.

#honestly i love telling this story it's the craziest shit #also my new job has immediately started fucking me around which is a whole new installment in this saga bu #but that's fine i can literally walk next door and probably make more money #'we pay above award wage' pal it turns out you don't even pay industry standard #god what a story #my final wage from february also still hasn't been paid #i'm going to have fun reporting him to the government soon #someone told me they might even make him repay all two years of my wages because he has no payslips to prove he paid me #anyway it's midnight and i've been stewing on my plan of action tomorrow #that's why i'm rambling #i'm lying here awake thinking about how to make money
