Indian Researchers develops new tech to make smart windows a reality
Smart Windows that are both private and energy-efficient are now possible. A team of researchers at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Science in Bengaluru, India, has developed a new technology that could revolutionize the way we think about smart windows. The technology, which is based on a novel protocol for confinement of liquid crystals in an architecture called hierarchical double…

IDWTBAMG CHARACTER FUN FACTS
Well, some fun facts and mostly lore or character relationship stuff. Under the cut!
AIKA
Aika became the next Star Guardian at age 13. She’s 15 now
Aika’s want to help people and relentless positivity were part of the reason she was chosen to be the Star Guardian: Guardian of the Stars in the first place. While her love for the job has fizzled out, this aspect of her character still a core part of her.
She’s very kind and gentle person but that kinda goes out the window when magical duties are brought into the equation
Her and Hoshi care about one another but their relationship is currently a bit tense. They’re usually pretty quick to make jabs at one another
She struggled to get used to the platform shoes in her magical girl outfit
She LOVES food. And her eyes are usually way too big for her stomach leading to many a food coma
Aika and her teammates worked in secret for the most part, not really being allowed to “exist in the real world”. Because of this, with the free time she had, Aika would read a lot (she’s actually very book smart)
Aika loves extreme sports and is an adrenaline junky. However, rollercoasters freak her out for some reason
Aika drags Zira into lots of new eperiences. Zira usually ends up appreciating the experiences after the fact
Aika’s a morning person
ZIRA
Zira is smart but doesn’t apply herself in school
They have a lot of artistic interests, particularly art, music and fashion
She likes the idea of writing fanfiction in theory but writing’s sooooo much work. Any ideas she has just kinda live in her head, causing her to zone out and daydream a ton
While shy for the most part, Zira can be very blunt and isn’t necessarily a pushover
Prior to Aika, she didn’t have a lot (any) friends at school but she’s mostly content doing her own thing
They’d hang out in Miss’ classroom a lot, either to show her Moon Sailor stuff against her will or just to have lunch
Zira loves playing video games and especially loves visual novels
Zira develops a crush on Aika pretty quickly. Aika’s kindness, authenticity and bravery is inspiring to Zira. Also Aika’s the only other person her age to really give her the time of day. And also she thinks Aika’s pretty
She thinks Hoshi’s really cool and since Aika doesn’t particularly enjoy talking about her job, Zira usually goes to Hoshi for magical girl questions. Initially Hoshi doesn’t trust Zira with that information but is really flattered to have someone who looks up to them and is interested in everything they have to say. So they indulge when appropriate.
Zira’s a night owl
HOSHI
Hoshi saved Aika when she was really young and has kept her safe ever since
Hoshi and Aika started off kind of like siblings but Hoshi then became her boss, making their relationship a bit strained and more complicated
Their role as a magical mascot managerial in nature. They make Aika and her team do their jobs, follow protocol, teach them how to use their powers, keep up morale, do timecards, etc.
While Hoshi oversees this team, their responsibility is primarily to the Star Guardian
Hoshi, much like Aika, used to be really chipper and a bit more goofy but Aika’s kinda worn them down overtime
Hoshi’s not a fan of Earth, but in an effort to better understand Aika’s feelings, tries out being a human and doing Earth activities
Hoshi takes a while to get used to their human form. They’re really clumsy in it
They have a hard time making hands for their human form. Their hands are slightly different every time but equally terrifying. They eventually get better at making them though.
Hoshi doesn't use their human form too much. Most people just assume their Aika's weird pet bird
Hoshi doesn't need to eat but discovers they enjoy the act of eating
ECLIPSE
Eclipse is one of the few humans that know that Aika and the other magical girls exist
He met Aika pretty early on in her magical girl career and he was immediately enamored with her
Since finding about magical girls, he’s obsessively tried keeping track of them, leading him to start acting out in order to get their attention. They only really care because he knows their secret and they play along
He and Devoid made his current outfit together. DeVoid wanted to make it black but Eclipse was set on making it very bright and showy
Eclipse currently resides with DeVoid. He gets on her nerves sometimes but they both do care about each other
Eclipse is a pretty good cook
Eclipse isn’t particularly hateful but he’s really got beef with Zira for some reason
It’s hard to tell if Eclipse is really in love with Aika or if he just loves the concept of their nonexistent relationship
Eclipse has a lovely singing voice
His real name is Elio
LADY DeVOID
DeVoid was banished to space by a Star Guardian. For a LONG time she lived (unconsciously) as a sort of celestial being that would spit out monsters that the Star Guardians for many generations would have to face. While not ideal it was better than fighting DeVoid before she got to full power.
DeVoid finally wakes up in the present timeline, with no memories other than being banished by a Star Guardian and wanting revenge and knowing that she’s supposed to be able to create monsters. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t remember how to use her powers. She doesn’t even remember her name, so she came up with “Lady DeVoid”
DeVoid loves human reality TV. Specifically competition shows. She loves how petty and evil people become. This is also where most of her knowledge of humans comes from
Though DeVoid is pretty stoic, her ears are very expressive
DeVoid taught Eclipse how to do his makeup
She really likes Eclipse’s cooking
When she’s out and about she’s usually wearing sunglasses because it’s simply too bright for her
DeVoid does have to work a normal job in the human world and simply goes by “Dee”
After being in the cold, dark reaches of space and since coming to Earth, DeVoid has grown to love soft things
People rarely question her appearance (because that’s just rude). But when people do ask what’s up with her horns she just says “it’s a condition” and that’s usually enough for people to just end the convo there.
MISS
Miss loves her job more than anything. She’s a very accomplished teacher and takes a lot of time to make sure all of her students succeed
Miss cares about Zira a lot. Always staying in her classroom just in case Zira wants to stop by for lunch, giving her advice or giving her extra tutoring as needed
Because of Zira, Miss has become a closet Moon Sailor fan
Though Aika’s just started attending school, she and Miss have bonded quite a bit. Aika’s positive disposition and cheeriness bring Miss a lot of joy
Miss keeps her personal life (not that she really has one) out of work but finds herself opening up a little more than she’d like to Aika and Zira
Miss used to get really antsy during summer breaks, leading her to start teaching summer school to fill the time
Her workaholic nature was the reason for her and her ex-wife’s divorce
Miss has gone on one date since her divorce. The idea of having starting over is exhausting to her so she’s mostly okay just being single
Miss doesn’t really like coffee but she drinks a lot of it out of necessity
Miss has a ton of tattoos

I made some sort of alignment classification based on whether they're impulsive or if they plan ahead for the Batfam. Feel free to correct me (politely please, I'll cry) or to add your opinion. I'm not trying to be super canon, just based on their characters' vibes.
Bruce Wayne: 100% planner. This man could be a Bene Gesserit, plans within plans, and they always work even if they shouldn't (because DC can't have him be wrong). It's like a choose your own adventure, you follow the plan and each time something new happens that is sure to chase things up he pulls a subsection specifically for it. Senior Justice League Members just don't question him anymore no matter what. "You had a contingency for getting invaded by mind controlling ballerina spiders? Yeah, sure, tell us all about it".
Barbara Gordon: she plans around her impulses. She is self aware enough at this point to know she's a bit of a hot head. It is what it is, she's called Batman an Emo Boy's idea of Therapy enough times to his face to know she just can't help herself with some stuff. So instead of working against it she plans around it. In the end, it was her plan all along. Canary thinks she could just hold her tongue, but considering the vigilantes Oracle manages, her experience in planning for these situations is invaluable.
Dick Grayson: Impulsive, not because he can't make plans or because he isn't smart. Quite the opposite. He just has that ADHD dog in him. He would be guiding the Titans through a mission and they'd be thinking "Woah, everything is going according to his plan", meanwhile inside his head is Bear Grylls saying "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome". It's not so much that he comes up with plans on the spot but he ends up changing it along the way because he thought of something better for that specific situation. He may use B's protocols for a general structure but then trusts his instinct to come up with something better on the spot.
Cassandra Cain: Neither. She's not one to be coming up with elaborate schemes but, as much as she relies on her instinct, she's able to stop before jumping. She doesn't need to plan, she knows what works. She observes and then takes the best course of action. When Bruce goes on and on about the importance of planning she just answers "Skill issue" and leaves.
Jason Todd: impulsive planner. This is a man that makes plans, okay? He's theatre kid coded, he needs to know his little monologues by heart. The thing is, he's also very emotional and has the impulse control of a toddler in front of the cookie jar. He can't help himself, he has to punch the asshole and make the witty comeback or he will explode. The outlaws have been grilled to death on the importance of following the plan but then watch him like ten minutes later throw it out the window. They find it both endearing and annoying.
Stephanie Brown: Queen of Chaos. She can plan. She's good at it too btw, she just doesn't want to if she can avoid it. She works best when she's improvising and it drives Bruce and Tim up the walls. They just hate to see women winning. She's the best one out of all of them at turning a mistake to her advantage in a matter of seconds. It's quite impressive.
Tim Drake: Chaotic planner. Everyone is so sure Tim is a mini Bruce and to a certain extent, if you squint your eyes, then yes. But Young Just Us know the truth: his plans are extremely effective but only in the most chaotic way possible. There's the Batman plan, and there's the Red Robin plan, which is like the first one but faster and with more fire. He also has to be periodically reminded to take into account his own wellbeing when making his little schemes.
Duke Thomas: plans on the go. I don't know how else to explain it but it's like those sequences in the Sherlock movies (the ones with RDJ) where he's watching his surroundings and opponents almost in slow-mo till he puts together a plan. It's similar to Dick from the outside, but if you pay attention you can see the wheels turning in his head as he goes along. He actually stops and thinks (metaphorically, most of the time his thinking is done while he distracts enemies).
Damian Al Gul Wayne: he's a strategist, not a planner. This is an important distinction because whenever Batman or Red Robin are explaining one of their convoluted plans he feels like he's actively losing braincells. He's closer to Cassandra in the way he prefers a more direct solution. He also gets palpitations anytime Jason or Stephanie just start doing things without thinking. If he knew what Dick's thought process was he would have probably developed an anxiety disorder in his time as Dick's robin. He doesn't understand the need for such high detail planning and hates the idea of making it along the way. No, he just needs to come up with the most efficient strategy and that's all.

my parents are both smart people. They’re not republicans, they’ve been good parents, they believe in science and vaccines. So I don’t get why, no matter what I say, or send, they fucking REFUSE to mask. No matter what they’re doing. I’ve sent them some of the zines you’ve reblogged, and my mom said that she already knew all the stuff in them. My dad said nothing. My boyfriend isn’t up to date on Covid vaccines because of his mom, and has already had Covid twice. Everyone else in the house including me has had it once for sure, maybe more because of it masquerading as a cold.
When I got Covid, I couldn’t EAT because of my vomiting phobia, and got close to having to go to the emergency room because of it. It’s not just about protecting them, it’s about protecting their KID, ME, and my fucking boyfriend who is LIVING WITH US. Not to mention the people around us.
I’m already disabled. I’m struggling enough as it is. I do NOT need it to get worse, ESPECIALLY if it effects my ability to eat. That would damn well near kill me. It’s like they’re acting like children, going “NOOOO BUT I DON’T *WANNA* THOUGH >:(“ it’s driving me crazy.
I don’t know what to do anymore. Maybe you can help me talk some sense into them. Thank you 💛
I hate to be an emissary of doom, but you can't convince people to stop believing in something because of facts and scientific study. If that were true, we wouldn't have nearly as many religious people and we wouldn't have scientific dogma like "airborne spread is just bad air theory again and we have germ theory and its 100% CORRECT IN ALL CASES IN PERPETUITY." It's even harder to make people in modern consumerist society do anything to help others. If they don't feel an immediate threat, they'll just keep doing the same old same old. Pick your battles. Don't wear yourself down trying to bash through a steel wall with paper. Protect yourself as best you can. Invest in air purifiers if you can and mask mask mask. Even if you can't make others keep you safe, you can at least make yourself more safe. Ignorance is a hell of a drug, and only education through collective effort can change it. Work with advocate groups to help ensure proper education about long covid and funding for new drugs. Join a mask bloc to help distribute masks in your locale and meet people who could possibly help support you if you need to leave your parent's home. People you love not caring about your health is a terrible burden, but you don't have to shoulder it all the time. There are things you can do and support you can seek. Check out our isolation protocol page for some helpful links that you can use to create a covid-safe space in your home by, for example, just opening a few windows strategically.

Alex Rider season 3 unhinged liveblog ramblings scribbled during first watch. Spoilers, obvs. (also fair warning, I am not particularly a fan of Tom or Kyra lol)
Episode 1 - Widow
S2 recap trivia - Alex's therapist is Molly Doran from Slow Horses and married to Alan Blunt IRL
Malta: Ok, so we're not just going to pretend it's Venice lol.
Creepy old men already hitting on Alex. Standard.
"After this we're out of leads." How do you even have any leads in the first place? Oh ok, Smithers' phone. Terrible security protocols from him, leaving that much historical classified data on it.
"Find the Widow - surely he could have given you an address?" First thing Tom's ever said I've agreed with lmao
Aaaand within a second he's back to being deeply irritating, okay.
Yassen living rent free in Alex's head, you love to see it.
"They've got this picture of me being the responsible one." Have Tom's parents actually met him?
Ooh Razim mention.
You maybe want to clean that wound before whacking a dressing on it Alex?
"Do you think you'll ever lose your appetite Nile?" Spat my drink.
Damn, no harem pants then. Scrubs up well tho.
Listing Levin in the opening credits than having him be only a S2 flashback should be a warcrime.
Episode 2 - Lab
"This weapon is called pork sword, wait, no, shit, wrong USB."
"Julia Rothman. Definitely a wrong un." Spat my drink again.
Do Crawley and Pritchard not warrant helmets and visors? Are they somehow immune to shrapnel?
So, room 6, wired to blow, yes? It's what I'd do…
Oh yeah sure guys, they're going to still be sitting there, all unmoving in the dark, for sure that's a person, and not a Massive Trap.
Thereeeee we go. Agent mince. Top of your class huh, well you're certainly at the top now, and down the sides and partially out of the window.
I know there's the whole 'characters don't know what genre they're in' thing but you are literally in the 'working for MI6 genre', you are up against people notorious for booby traps and blowing shit up, why the fuck would you touch something that hadn't been declared safe first? Apart from anything else you're fucking up the scene before forensics get there.
"I love you man." Vom.
Alex: breaks into super sekkrit lab. Also Alex: doesn't have the faintest fucking idea what he's looking at, so not really helpful.
COMICALLY LARGE BOMB KLAXON.
Episode 3 - Enemy
"Welcome to Malagosto." OooOOooh.
Maybe I'm just looking at it from a fic writer's perspective but it does seem a massive anticlimax to immediately let Tom and Kyra know Alex is okay? Like, you could have got a good couple of episodes of angst out of that uncertainty.
"Do you want me to kill them?" Oh God yes please.
Why the fuck have they plugged the USB directly into the network rather than an isolated PC? 'Hur dur we checked it first', you literally believe Scorpia are smart enough to not be bluffing about the nebulous death threat but you don't think they could hide something on the hardware? Fuck's sake lads. Amateur hour.
Is this Home Secretary meant to be Suella Braverman? Or Priti Patel maybe lol. (Equal rights and all that, and if it had been a white male character I don't think I would have thought twice about the dialogue but having both your two new female characters be immediately proved wrong/ massively patronised/ blown up ain't hugely comfortable viewing tbh).
HOW MANY FICS INVOLVING ALEX GETTING FUCKED ON THAT BED HAVE JUST BEEN BORN?
"Are you suggesting we break into a dead man's house?" "It's not like he's going to be there." 😂
"He became a very close friend of mine." Fnar.
Omg making Alex read his father's love letters is hilarious.
Alex: you could have faked that news report Also Alex: handwriting can definitely never be faked (how is Alex even familiar with his dead father's handwriting? wouldn't recognise mine)
Ugh please stop trying to make Alex/Kyra happen.
Alex up the vent shaft. I hope they're sitting casually at the top going - you could have just taken the stairs love.
If he's climbing upwards, why is his hair dangling like he's upside down? Have they filmed this like 60's Batman, and he's just crawling along a horizontal set lol.
Alex never once asks about his mother does he. Given the shagger-John route they seem to have gone down you almost think Julia would be in a better shout of getting Alex to switch sides by claiming to be his mother.
And - yeah, Alex's recruitment just doesn't feel that convincing here. Adding Tom/Kyra/Jack so much to the mix has changed the feel of his life a lot, and TV verse Alex has had a lot less fucking over by the Department by this point too. And Rothman feels too creepy to be effectively convincing him of anything.
"I want you to meet your tutor." FUCK YES FINALLY 🙌 (may have rewound that part several times lol)
Episode 4 - Recruit
Nicaragua: 18 years ago OH MY GOD IT'S HAPPENING
Baby Yassen is adorable, I'm in love.
OH MY GOD THAT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FUCKIN SPIDER THING
OH MY GOD THE REVEAL OF HIM STANDING OVER THE SLEEPING ALEX I'M DEAD
(Ok, I'm calm again. For now. We continue.)
"You killed my uncle" - all the hundreds of ways this conversation has been written over the years and Yassen's just like lol get over it 😂 (here for it tbh)
Rothman: He's one of our best Yassen: One of? Bitch.
Yassen watching Alex train like 👀👀
"Did he ever tell you you're no fun?" Oh you want to have FUN with Yassen do you?
Yassen bitchslapping Alex to fuck, both hilarious and hot.
Oh, you want to be WET wet.
"Matteo's the guy with the blanket." Why is that so funny.
Omg Yassen stepping in to protect his boy and humiliating Nile in the process lol. And Alex doing what Yassen tells him, because of course he does 🥰
"This one is my responsibility" 🥰🥰
"What about love, friendship?" Alex has only known Yassen five minutes and is already down bad.
"Kind of lonely though, right?" Yeah, Yassen needs you at his side Alex, so step up and stop being a whiny little bitch about killing people.
Never get in the first taxi, rule one of espionage.
Yep, called it. Tom's like: I'll have my fucking tip back in that case.
This scene is so dark I have no fucking idea what's going on, I thought Nile had attacked Alex, but apparently not. Is Nile officially part of this exercise or not, it seems really unclear lol.
The power of friendship and sparklerabbits saves the day, apparently. Yawn.
Jesus, we really ATE with this ep, huh.
Episode 5 - Revenge
"Would you rather your arms around me, or my arms around you?" Way to make it creepy Tom you skeevy fuck.
"Can we focus please?" "We're multi-tasking."
Sure Grendel, rock up to the super sekkrit spy base in a massively conspicuous car why don't you?
"Yassen will give you everything you need." Oh I BET he will.
Feels sloppy them not removing the diffuser from the vent tbh.
"What does this say?" Alex hasn't inherited John's neat handwriting then lol. Alex leaning into him like that > me making noises only dogs can hear.
"You've put lockpick?" "I left my last one in Nile."
Ooh, suicide pill, nasty. Kind've pointless though, given they've been left with the evidence anyway.
Yassen in Alex's bedroom again, likely place for him to be.
"I don't want you to fail. I don't want you to die." 🥹💕🥰
Yalex roadtrip, let's goooo.
Disappointed they're not making Alex do the Entrapment infrared acrobatic sequence here lol.
If this is Yassen's idea of a date it definitely needs work.
So no surprise scorpions then? Can't have shit in Detroit Malta.
"Why? Why did she kill him?" Well taking things at face value here he was a highly murderous member of a terrorist organisation, so you know, kind've her job.
Yassen does like a casual lean, doesn't he.
Episode 6 - Target
Alex and Yassen have shacked up in London, hope there's only one bed.
Now they're in the back of a van, SO many opportunities for shagging, they're spoilt for choice.
Yassen's impressed look when Alex reels off all the security details, so proud of his boy.
"What happened to my mum?" Finally he wonders lol.
"And I'm good at it. You could be too." 🥹
"You think Alex killed him?" I mean, he was also there with a notorious assassin, so probably not, y'know.
Domestic Yassen cooking Alex's dinner and also cooking him a gun lol.
Smithers' "How I've missed you" ahahaha. Smithers/Kyra much better pairing tbh.
"He's actually quite good at this stuff." Smithers' little snort lmao
Time for Alex to be blacked up/ dunked in a teabag bath/ gussied up. Although he still looks exactly like Alex afterwards, which feels less useful lol.
"You love him, don't you?" Yassen loves him more. I have to say Alex had far more chemistry with Syl, and frankly for that matter with Tom. I really don't get the Kyra agenda.
"It's a dry hole." Alex's worst nightmare.
Is Alex going to look through Mrs Jones' knicker drawer?
Episode 7 - The Shot
Mrs Jones and her tall murderous hobbit son lol. Otto really looks about 58 here.
Hope they bill him for her fucked up fridge.
Is that Bath? Oh, it is.
Mrs Jones casually throwing Alex back into play lol. Maybe she can have a little revenge for him trying to shoot her.
"Everyone breaks into houses." Jack's face lol
Ewww put him down, you don't know where he's been (Yassen's bed, almost certainly)
"Remember they can't hurt you unless you invite them in." "That's vampires."
Yassen arguing in favour of going to rescue Alex MY HEART
"Sit down. I'm going to tell you a story. About your friend, John Rider." HOLY PLOTHOLE TIMELINE PATCHING BATMAN
"John was embedded inside Scorpia for three years." Not the only thing he was embedded in by the sounds of it.
Alex seems to be hallucinating again lol.
Yassen, maybe psychoanalysing your insane boss isn't the safest thing to be doing?
"It's quite mad Julia." Yassen really gives no shits omfg
"I know my place." Yes, at Alex's side.
I like how Julia thought telling Yassen she'd killed John would do anything other than piss him off lol.
Episode 8 - Invisible Sword
"But you do owe me a new fridge." LOLLLLLL
Crawley feeling like a spare part during this lift convo, hahaha
"Smithers, you can do me some kind of tracker, right?" "Yeah, if you promise to keep it on you this time."
Alex is like ohshit I'm gonna die fr
"Not for the agents. They undid their seatbelts." Eyyyyyyyy 👉
Aww they've given him a little baby assassin outfit, how cute.
Where's Yassen, has he just fucked off to the pub?
"For the head of Scorpia, you're a really bad liar."
Laughing at all the other Scorpia agents having to listen to this convo about their boss like we are not paid enough for this shit 😬
"Everyone else is getting what they want, let me have my cereal."
Protecting his boy to the last. Yassen really is purely on Alex's side, we love to see it.🥰
And OMG HE LIVESSSSSSSS 🙌🙌🙌🙌 (I voted yes in that poll, I had faith lol)
Well that was - far more fanservice than I dared hope for, after the meagre pickings we got in the first two series. Yalex supremacy to the motherfucking end, let's go.

Given to Fly
Stronger, Faster
Summary: Martha "Marty" Thorne was a basic teenager, a little antisocial maybe. But her life changed the day she met the Autobots and joined them in their fight.
Pairing: Optimius x Teen!OFC (Platonic)
Chapter summary: Ratchet's new invention is not what it seems.
Warnings: Canon-typical violence, steroids, minor OpLita background (my beloved), loss of Energon, Ratchet is a jerk (If I miss a tag LMK)
Updates are sporadic. If you want to be tagged LMK
@dreamsight73
Master list
"Thanks, Ms. Darby." Marty exited the sedan, closing the door behind her.
"No problem, hun," June replied before rolling up the window. "Get home safe."
Marty smiled as the nurse pulled out of the base. Heavy footsteps turned her attention towards the Prime making his way over to her.
"I apologize for being unavailable to drive you here, Little One," he said as he lowered his palm.
"It's no problem." Marty stepped into his hand. He lifted her up and set her on his shoulder, giving her a clear view of the base.
The first thing that caught her eye was Ratchet. The medic – usually grumpy or apathetic – was animatedly talking to the others. His eyes were an intense green instead of his usual soft blue.
"What's with him?" The girl asked.
"Ratchet came in and took out a bunch of Cons!" Raf told her.
The girl raised a brow suspiciously.
"All right, what's your secret?" Arcee asked him.
"No secret. Just a little something I like to call SynthEn." The medic took a large green jar and tossed it to the blue Autobot.
"From the data Bulkhead transcribed?" She asked. "I thought the formula was–"
"Incomplete?" Ratchet finished. "Not anymore."
The team handed the substance around, looking at the green fluid curiously.
"So, Ratchet makes a better tough guy than I do a smart guy?" Bulkhead asked.
Optimus took the jar and furrowed his brow. "Ratchet, I question the wisdom of using yourself as a test subject."
"Optimus, you didn't see Ratchet out there," Arcee said. "He was in overdrive. We should all try this stuff."
"Or give Ratchet more so we can take a vacation," Bulkhead suggested.
"I agree that the initial results seem promising," the Prime started, "but I recommend that further testing be confined to machines, not Autobots."
He walked to the medic and rested a hand on his shoulder. "Outnumbered though we may be, old friend, we need a warrior in the laboratory right now more than we need another in the field."
Ratchet looked away and frowned before walking off.
"So, he's on steroids," Marty deduced. "That wasn't on my bingo card."
)()()()()(
A small alarm went off on the monitor.
"Looks like the Cons hit another vein," Arcee announced.
"Autobots, roll out," Optimus ordered.
"Hey, hey, shouldn't we wait for our secret weapon?" Bulkhead asked.
Optimus frowned. "This mission is unlikely to require medical expertise."
"But you never know if it may require additional firepower."
Marty turned to see Ratchet leaning against the wall. She cringed so hard her stomach cramped.
"Bumblebee can handle ground bridge duty," the medic decided as he walked to the portal. "Time to put some hurt on those Decepticons!"
Marty bit the inside of her cheek. Cybertronian testosterone was dangerous.
)()()()()(
Optimus looked around at the aftermath of the battle. They had successfully taken out the Decepticons, but one of their ranks was missing.
A scream sounded from the top of the canyon, and Optimus had a sinking feeling that Ratchet was behind it.
He and the others climbed up the desert rock to find the medic torching a miner's face. Optimus was horrified.
"That's all I know!" The Decepticon pleaded. "Really!"
Ratchet stopped his torturing. "Now, was that so difficult?" He changed his hand to a blade and raised it.
Optimus rushed forward and grabbed him. "Ratchet! What are you doing?"
"Getting results," the medic snapped.
The miner ran off fearfully, and Optimus let him.
"And breaking protocol," the Prime added. "That was a Decepticon miner, servant class, not warrior class."
"Oh, and let me guess. I'm just the medic," Ratchet bit.
"Autobots do not inflict harm unless all other options have been exhausted." Optimus narrowed his eyes. "It is what separates us from the Decepticons."
Ratchet scoffed a laughed. "Is this really the time for another lecture, Optimus? You didn't just happen to discover Megatron's current location, did you? Well, I did! And do you happen to know where there's a stockpile of raw Energon ripe for the taking? I do!"
Bulkhead approached tentatively. "Come on, Ratchet. Calm it down."
"Calm is the last thing we need!" The medic shouted. He started to pace angrily. "Calm is what lost us Cybertron! The Cons have a warship, an army. All this Energon scouting, you think Megatron isn't gearing up for something big? We're squandering our resources chasing after his crumbs when we really need to be hitting him hard and hitting him now, precisely where it hurts!"
Optimus walked over to him. "A direct assault on the Decepticons would only provoke retaliation and lead to incalculable losses. I will not endanger innocent human lives."
Ratchet glared up at him. "Yet you seem to have no problem endangering ours. Just ask Elita. Oh, I forgot. She couldn't be here today."
A stab to the spark would have hurt less. Optimus curled his hands into fists and swallowed hard. He could feel the stares of Bulkhead and Arcee, worried as to what he would do.
But Ratchet didn't wait. He did the opposite and continued to berate the Prime. "You know your problem, Optimus? For such a big, strong Bot, you're soft. You didn't pound Megatron into scrap when you had the chance –many chances, in fact."
Optimus resisted the urge to remind the medic why he was in the leader, and instead took a breath. "I'm afraid that the synthetic Energon has impaired your judgment, old friend." He looked down on him with utmost authority. "I am confining you to base until further notice. Bumblebee, bridge us back."
Ratchet glared up at him as the portal appeared, but eventually said, "Fine," and walked off into it.
Bulkhead and Arcee shared a glance before the green Bot went to go through the bridge.
But suddenly, Ratchet came barrelling through and took out the wrecker, throwing him into Optimus.
The Prime's eyes went wide as he watched his friend transform into vehicle mode and drive off at full speed.
Quickly, they transformed and drove through the bridge. Once they were back at base, Arcee immediately went to the computer.
"I can't get a fix on Ratchet's coordinates," she huffed.
"That bogus Energon must be scrambling his signal," Bulkhead suggested.
"Keep trying," Optimus told the femme. "We've got to find Ratchet before he finds Megatron."
"Whoa, what happened?" Marty asked.
Guilt rose in the Prime for forgetting she was there. After Bulkhead explained the situation to her, she and Raf shared a look with worried expressions.
"Optimus?" Marty asked. Her voice lacked it's usually deadpan. "Are you alright?"
In truth, he wasn't. Ratchet's words had stung hard and remained in his head. But the Prime didn't wish to worry his ward with things she couldn't change. "No, Little One," he lied.
"Optimus, Ratchet's signal," Arcee announced. "It's back online."
Optimus turned to his scout. "Bumblebee."
The young Bot activated the ground bridge.
"Autobots, roll out!"
)()()()()(
Optimus and the others had found Ratchet in the mines, injured and unconscious in a pool of green Energon. Currently, the medic was resting and hooked up to an IV.
His eyes blinked open and he moved to sit up, but Optimus stopped him. "Easy, old friend. You lost a lot of energon – good and bad."
"I-I didn't intend to hurt anyone," the medic stammered. "I just wanted so badly to–"
"Help us," Optimus finished. "We know. But you nearly caused the loss of something irreplaceable –our medic and a most trusted friend. You did lead us to a much needed Energon supply." The Prime looked over his shoulder to see the others stacking the blue cubes of their life source. "And for that, we should all be thankful."
Ratchet sighed. "The synthetic Energon formula clearly needs refining before it can be tested again. On machines, not Autobots."
Optimus smiled. "Let us take comfort in the fact that you were able to dispose of the quantity that remained."
Ratchet nodded. He glanced away, looking uncomfortable. "Optimus," he started. "I am sorry for what I said earlier. It wasn't your fault that she–"
"You were not in the right mind," Optimus interjected. "For all I am concerned, that was not you speaking, but the synthetic Energon."
He didn't want to have this conversation or relieve any pain from losing her.

#Ghosts We Carry: Chapter 9
Juice's mind raced as Clay outlined the lockdown protocols. Armed guards at all entrances. Regular patrols around the perimeter. No one in or out without explicit permission.
"Prospect!" Clay barked. "Get Chucky making calls. I want every charter aware that Zobelle's back in play."
But Juice barely heard him. His eyes kept drifting to his phone. Elena's message burned in his mind, a separate crisis unfolding beyond these walls.
"Hey," Chibs nudged him. "You still with us, brother?"
"Yeah," Juice managed, pocketing his phone. "Just thinking about security measures."
Clay continued, his voice granite-hard. "Tig, you and Happy inventory the arsenal. I want everyone carrying. Bobby, coordinate with Unser—see what he knows about any new players in town."
When Clay finally dismissed them, Juice approached Jax in the hallway. "I need to step out for an hour."
Jax's eyebrows shot up. "Lockdown means lockdown, Juice."
"It's Elena," he said quietly. "Someone tried to break into her place this morning. Could be connected."
Jax studied him for a long moment. "Clay finds out you left, there'll be hell to pay."
"I know. But if this is Zobelle targeting people connected to the club, she's not safe."
After a tense silence, Jax nodded. "One hour. Bring her back here if you need to." As Juice turned to leave, Jax caught his arm. "And Juice? Be smart. This could be another trap."
Twenty minutes later, Juice pulled up to Elena's apartment complex, hyperaware of his surroundings. No suspicious vehicles, no one watching from windows. But the prickling sensation between his shoulder blades wouldn't subside.
Elena opened her door immediately. Her usual composure was shaken, eyes darting past him to check the hallway.
"Are you okay?" he asked, stepping inside and locking the door behind him.
"Physically, yes." She led him to her living room where the window by the fire escape was now boarded up with plywood. "They tried to come in through there around seven this morning. When I screamed, they ran."
"Did you see who it was?"
"Two men. Both wearing dark clothes, baseball caps. One had a tattoo on his neck—some kind of bird, I think." She hugged herself. "The police said it was probably just a random burglary attempt."
But Juice knew better. The timing was too perfect.
"Pack a bag," he told her. "You can't stay here."
"I have patients this afternoon—"
"Cancel them." His tone left no room for argument. "This wasn't random, Elena. The club's dealing with someone dangerous, someone who knows how to hurt us."
Understanding dawned on her face. "The same people who stole the money?"
"Yeah. And they're not stopping there." He moved to help her pack, glancing repeatedly toward the windows. "I can take you somewhere safe."
"The clubhouse?" she asked, her tone making clear how she felt about that option.
"It's the safest place right now. Everyone's on high alert."
Elena disappeared into her bedroom, emerging minutes later with a small overnight bag. "Two nights, max. Then we reassess."
As they headed for the door, Juice's burner phone rang—an unknown number. He hesitated, then answered.
"Juan Carlos Ortiz?" A voice he didn't recognize. Cultured. Calm.
Juice froze. "Who's asking?"
"Let's just say I'm impressed with your skills. Not many could penetrate our systems as effectively as you did." The voice carried a hint of amusement. "A shame about the trap, but one must take precautions."
"What do you want?" Juice moved away from Elena, lowering his voice.
"To offer you a choice, Mr. Ortiz. A better option than dying alongside your motorcycle club when this escalates—which it will."
"You threatening me?"
"On the contrary. I'm recruiting you. HaviCorp could use someone with your talents. Better salary than SAMCRO offers. Better future prospects, too."
Juice felt sick. "You've got the wrong guy."
"Do I? A talented hacker with a sealed juvenile record, two outstanding warrants in New York, and questionable citizenship status? A man caught between worlds, never fully belonging to either?" The voice paused. "We've done our homework on you, Mr. Ortiz. More thoroughly than your club ever did."
Juice's heart hammered against his ribs. The things only Chibs knew—this stranger was laying them bare.
"Think about it," the voice continued. "But don't take too long. When Mr. Zobelle finishes with SAMCRO, there will be nothing left to salvage."
The line went dead.
Elena was watching him, concern etched across her face. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."
In a way, he had. The ghosts of his past, the secrets he'd buried, now exhumed and examined by enemies who seemed to know exactly how to leverage them.
"We need to go," he said, ushering her out the door. "Now."
During the drive back to Teller-Morrow, Juice's mind churned with impossible choices. The caller was right about one thing—he had always existed between worlds. The club. His heritage. His past. His future. Never fully anchored to any single identity.
Now Zobelle was offering a third option—a way out. Betrayal packaged as salvation.
As they pulled into the lot, Juice spotted Clay watching from the clubhouse steps, arms crossed, face thunderous. Jax stood beside him, offering an apologetic shrug.
"Stay in the truck for a minute," Juice told Elena. "This might get ugly."
Stepping out to face Clay's wrath, Juice made his decision. Zobelle might know his secrets, but he didn't know the most important thing about Juan Carlos Ortiz.
The club wasn't just his past or his present.
It was his choice. Every day.
And today, he was choosing loyalty—even if it killed him.

Amazon DCV 2024.0 Supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS With Security

NICE DCV is a different entity now. Along with improvements and bug fixes, NICE DCV is now known as Amazon DCV with the 2024.0 release.
The DCV protocol that powers Amazon Web Services(AWS) managed services like Amazon AppStream 2.0 and Amazon WorkSpaces is now regularly referred to by its new moniker.
What’s new with version 2024.0?
A number of improvements and updates are included in Amazon DCV 2024.0 for better usability, security, and performance. The most recent Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is now supported by the 2024.0 release, which also offers extended long-term support to ease system maintenance and the most recent security patches. Wayland support is incorporated into the DCV client on Ubuntu 24.04, which improves application isolation and graphical rendering efficiency. Furthermore, DCV 2024.0 now activates the QUIC UDP protocol by default, providing clients with optimal streaming performance. Additionally, when a remote user connects, the update adds the option to wipe the Linux host screen, blocking local access and interaction with the distant session.
What is Amazon DCV?
Customers may securely provide remote desktops and application streaming from any cloud or data center to any device, over a variety of network conditions, with Amazon DCV, a high-performance remote display protocol. Customers can run graphic-intensive programs remotely on EC2 instances and stream their user interface to less complex client PCs, doing away with the requirement for pricey dedicated workstations, thanks to Amazon DCV and Amazon EC2. Customers use Amazon DCV for their remote visualization needs across a wide spectrum of HPC workloads. Moreover, well-known services like Amazon Appstream 2.0, AWS Nimble Studio, and AWS RoboMaker use the Amazon DCV streaming protocol.
Advantages
Elevated Efficiency
You don’t have to pick between responsiveness and visual quality when using Amazon DCV. With no loss of image accuracy, it can respond to your apps almost instantly thanks to the bandwidth-adaptive streaming protocol.
Reduced Costs
Customers may run graphics-intensive apps remotely and avoid spending a lot of money on dedicated workstations or moving big volumes of data from the cloud to client PCs thanks to a very responsive streaming experience. It also allows several sessions to share a single GPU on Linux servers, which further reduces server infrastructure expenses for clients.
Adaptable Implementations
Service providers have access to a reliable and adaptable protocol for streaming apps that supports both on-premises and cloud usage thanks to browser-based access and cross-OS interoperability.
Entire Security
To protect customer data privacy, it sends pixels rather than geometry. To further guarantee the security of client data, it uses TLS protocol to secure end-user inputs as well as pixels.
Features
In addition to native clients for Windows, Linux, and MacOS and an HTML5 client for web browser access, it supports remote environments running both Windows and Linux. Multiple displays, 4K resolution, USB devices, multi-channel audio, smart cards, stylus/touch capabilities, and file redirection are all supported by native clients.
The lifecycle of it session may be easily created and managed programmatically across a fleet of servers with the help of DCV Session Manager. Developers can create personalized Amazon DCV web browser client applications with the help of the Amazon DCV web client SDK.
How to Install DCV on Amazon EC2?
Implement:
Sign up for an AWS account and activate it.
Open the AWS Management Console and log in.
Either download and install the relevant Amazon DCV server on your EC2 instance, or choose the proper Amazon DCV AMI from the Amazon Web Services Marketplace, then create an AMI using your application stack.
After confirming that traffic on port 8443 is permitted by your security group’s inbound rules, deploy EC2 instances with the Amazon DCV server installed.
Link:
On your device, download and install the relevant Amazon DCV native client.
Use the web client or native Amazon DCV client to connect to your distant computer at https://:8443.
Stream:
Use AmazonDCV to stream your graphics apps across several devices.
Use cases
Visualization of 3D Graphics
HPC workloads are becoming more complicated and consuming enormous volumes of data in a variety of industrial verticals, including Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, and Design & Engineering. The streaming protocol offered by Amazon DCV makes it unnecessary to send output files to client devices and offers a seamless, bandwidth-efficient remote streaming experience for HPC 3D graphics.
Application Access via a Browser
The Web Client for Amazon DCV is compatible with all HTML5 browsers and offers a mobile device-portable streaming experience. By removing the need to manage native clients without sacrificing streaming speed, the Web Client significantly lessens the operational pressure on IT departments. With the Amazon DCV Web Client SDK, you can create your own DCV Web Client.
Personalized Remote Apps
The simplicity with which it offers streaming protocol integration might be advantageous for custom remote applications and managed services. With native clients that support up to 4 monitors at 4K resolution each, Amazon DCV uses end-to-end AES-256 encryption to safeguard both pixels and end-user inputs.
Amazon DCV Pricing
Amazon Entire Cloud:
Using Amazon DCV on AWS does not incur any additional fees. Clients only have to pay for the EC2 resources they really utilize.
On-site and third-party cloud computing
Please get in touch with DCV distributors or resellers in your area here for more information about licensing and pricing for Amazon DCV.

Distress
I've dealt with a good amount of trauma and anxiety in my life. And I healed from a lot of it, but not all.
I'm working on my personal self-confidence (inside and outside), which is a goal I want to achieve, but it is attainable in the short-term and doesn't cause me a great deal of distress, to the point where I consider pulling my hair out and jumping out the window (I don't want to use that word on my blog, but I have considered it).
2 things that trigger that harmful sentiment are: (1) health anxiety and issues and (2) social and romantic rejection and exclusion.
The first is so stressful as someone who wants to be in good health and yet struggled with health issues and has been traumatized by doctors in the past. I don't want to get sick, my eczema and anxiety are so stressful and debilitating, I've struggled with my weight, feeling bigger, feeling lazy, sugar addiction, dental problems, poor self image. I know I had these issues in the past and they are better, but I'm so scared of something new popping up or whatever I'm dealing with all of a sudden gets worse. I don't want to feel like I don't care for my health. My eczema and anxiety are the 2 main issues, others which are still present but nowhere near as severe/concerning are moreso metabolic focused (insulin resistance and not exercising consistently) and dental issues/anxiety. There is nothing that would drive me crazy and distress me as wanting to progress in life and having a horrible flareup and weight/dental issues which fucks everything up for me and makes me lose motivation in life. This issue can really fuck with me psychologically.
The second - I have been so excluded when I was in school and peers/guys would make fun of me and avoid me when I tried to interact with them and make a move. Like I was a subhuman pest, and the girls they did include were, at least according to me due to my severe insecurity, better looking/more outgoing/did not have a strict dad/more experienced, etc... I became so used to comparing myself to others and wanting to be perfect, and I still do. I know I'm successful, well-liked, hardworking, kind, experienced, smart, and pretty irl. But it doesn't mean I'm not insecure and that the comparison habit stopped and I don't worry at all about future pain due to possible rejection because I start to internalize it and feel it's because there is something so wrong with me. As someone who was so lonely growing up, I always blamed it on myself for not being "cool" or "social" enough. But it was most certainly not my fault. People are just nasty.
I'm working hard on improving my health - the main things being my eczema and anxiety and other minor issues being secondary. I've worked on my eczema and it's getting a lot better. But I do still have some dryness and itchiness here and there, and I know this healing protocol takes time and that I do have allergies which I know is contributing to my skin issues. I'm also allergic to mold and have no idea if I've been exposed or not. Other issues like heavy metals, liver detoxification issues, drainage problems and hormonal imbalances can also be triggers, but that's a lot to work with. Allergies/mold are absolutely the next thing I want to look into. The anxiety can also be addressed and it getting better, but there are a few things, again as I said, my health and socializing, that give me bad anxiety. I don't know how I'm going to work with it honestly because it's sucking the life out of me. I'm also happy and proud of myself for taking care of other health issues I have had in the past, so this is a sign that I'll see even more improvement with more time and effort and it will all work out in the end. Doesn't mean I don't get stress/anxious/extremely fed up and annoyed.
I am lonely irl but have people on here I enjoy talking to, including this guy who has been really nice. I've never really had guys be nice to me and admire me growing up. Most of them were assholes. Even if I'm looking for a serious loving relationship in my life, having a "casual connection" with someone who always compliments my appearance (hair/body) does help boost my self esteem, makes me feel less lonely, and makes me feel more optimistic in life despite the challenges. I am someone who has issues with commitment and love and am far more prone to infatuation. I don't know how to feel about that given that I'm almost 30 and this is something that high schoolers/college students are moreso associated with. But again I love my independence and self-sufficiency, so I cannot commit and waste all my energy on someone else when my goal in life is to be independent, free-spirited, self-sufficient, and focused on myself. I would hate to lose all of that and be with a man who I simp unconditionally for and have kids with him I have to take care of. I'll have all my privileges taken away, and unfortunately that's how I see it. So I'm more inclined to casual, "physical" connections than deep love and commitment. Ever since I received that photo, I've been hooked, starstruck and infatuated. Not to the point where I lose track of my personal achievements, but I'm definitely tapping into the attraction side of me which I've been avoiding and hiding from for so long so I don't feel hurt or lose my identity. I would feel so empty and down if this connection ended or if I was "replaced". It just feels unusual yet pleasant that a seemingly attractive guy would communicate/interact with me and compliment me on a very regular basis. I've always seen myself as an awkward girl, so it's not something I'm used to at all. But like I said, I have great qualities and do deserve great qualities in a male.
So these are the 2 main super distressing issues I would have if everything falls apart. But like every other traumatic thing in my life, these 2 will get better. They just seem to be taking more time. I'm an adult right now, so the health-stuff is something I just started focusing on (was not focused much on that at all in college with my insomnia and weird diets and unprocessed trauma). And I'm trying to explore my social/attraction side. While it's more casual now, I do want a committed relationship in the future, which is ideal, but unfortunately clashes with my independence, freedom seeking, and self-sufficient and self-focused personality, also being someone who fears commitment and the hurt that comes with it. I'll even get hurt over a physical infatuation if I'm rejected/excluded and will nonstop compare myself to the other woman. It's so petty and something out of high school/Mean Girls without the mean, but I'm just that insecure.
While I do want to dedicate this year to myself (work, finances, confidence, health, trauma healing, hobbies, etc...) having a connection with someone else, even though I don't see the socialization/intimacy goals as immediate as the prior ones, can help so much with my confidence, keeping me company and feeling less lonely, optimism, and experience with "connections" because I've never had a meaningful one in the past before. The awkward girl who had poor self esteem, confidence, and social skills is apparently attractive and alluring all of a sudden. It's unlike me, but I'll take and admire it.

🧤 Benefits of Hiring Professional House Cleaning Services near Manhattan

Life in Manhattan is vibrant, fast-paced, and full of opportunities—but also incredibly demanding. Between commuting, working long hours, managing family life, and carving out personal time, keeping your home spotless can feel like an impossible task. That’s why more and more New Yorkers are turning to professional House Cleaning Services near Manhattan to reclaim their time and peace of mind.
Whether you live in a cozy Upper West Side studio or a spacious Tribeca loft, having your home professionally cleaned isn’t just a luxury—it’s a smart, practical decision that can enhance your lifestyle and well-being. In this article, we’ll dive into the top benefits of hiring House Cleaning Services in Manhattan, how they compare to doing it yourself, and why the demand for maid services near Manhattan continues to rise.
1. Save Time and Focus on What Matters
One of the most obvious but underrated benefits of hiring House Cleaning Services is the significant time you save. Cleaning is time-consuming—especially when it’s more than just a quick surface wipe. Scrubbing bathrooms, mopping floors, dusting baseboards, and deep-cleaning kitchens can easily take up hours.
By outsourcing the work to a trusted House Cleaning Service in Manhattan, you’re free to:
Spend more time with your family or friends
Focus on work or business priorities
Relax and recharge during your limited downtime
Enjoy your weekends instead of spending them cleaning
In a city where every minute counts, saving even a few hours a week can drastically improve your quality of life.
2. Get a Deeper, More Thorough Clean
Even if you clean regularly, it’s likely that you’re only tackling the surface-level mess. Professional cleaners are trained to go deeper—reaching the areas you often miss or don’t have time to handle.
With professional House Cleaning Services, your home benefits from:
Deep cleaning of bathroom grout, showerheads, and faucets
Inside-out cleaning of kitchen appliances
Dust removal from hard-to-reach places (like ceiling fans or vents)
Streak-free window cleaning
Sanitization of high-touch areas like doorknobs, remotes, and switches
This kind of detail-oriented cleaning not only keeps your home looking great but also improves your indoor air quality and reduces allergens.
3. Improve Your Health and Hygiene
Manhattan apartments are prone to dust, pollen, pet dander, and even pests—especially in older buildings. A dirty home can become a breeding ground for bacteria, mold, and allergens, which can lead to health problems over time.
Professional House Cleaning Services in Manhattan don’t just clean—they sanitize. They use high-quality disinfectants and follow hygiene protocols that reduce the spread of viruses, bacteria, and germs.
This is particularly important if:
You have small children or elderly family members at home
You or someone in your household has allergies or asthma
You’ve recently been ill or want to maintain a healthier space year-round
Regular visits from maid services near Manhattan can dramatically reduce these risks, helping your family stay healthy.
4. Increase Property Value and Longevity
Your home is an investment, and like any investment, it needs care. Dirt, dust, and grime can slowly degrade your home’s surfaces, flooring, and fixtures. For example, neglecting regular tile cleaning can lead to permanent staining or grout damage.
With professional House Cleaning Services, you're preserving:
Hardwood floor finishes
Tile and grout integrity
Kitchen countertops and cabinetry
Bathroom fixtures and glass
Painted or wallpapered walls
By protecting these elements, you ensure that your home maintains its value and aesthetic appeal—whether you’re living in it long-term or considering a sale or rental.
5. Customized Cleaning to Fit Your Needs
A huge advantage of working with House Cleaning Services in Manhattan is flexibility. These services are tailored to your specific lifestyle, schedule, and preferences.
Most providers offer:
One-time, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly cleaning
Move-in/move-out cleaning
Deep cleaning or seasonal refresh services
Post-renovation clean-ups
Green/eco-friendly product usage
You can also prioritize areas of concern, such as pet hair management, organizing cluttered spaces, or focusing on high-traffic zones like the kitchen or bathroom.
Whether you're a busy professional, a parent, or a landlord, maid services near Manhattan can adapt to your needs—giving you exactly the service you want.
6. Reduce Stress and Mental Clutter
Studies have shown that a clean, organized space can reduce stress, anxiety, and even depression. Living in a chaotic or dirty environment can subconsciously affect your mood and mental clarity.
Hiring House Cleaning Services offers not only physical cleanliness but also mental peace. Walking into a freshly cleaned home at the end of a long day can feel like a reset—calming your mind and lifting your spirits.
It’s like self-care for your space—and by extension, yourself.
7. Impress Guests and Visitors
Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, having out-of-town guests stay over, or simply entertaining friends, you want your home to look its best. Last-minute cleaning marathons are stressful and often leave corners cut.
With recurring House Cleaning Services in Manhattan, your home is always guest-ready. You’ll feel confident knowing everything is spotless, fresh, and presentable.
Need an emergency cleaning before a big event? Many maid services near Manhattan offer last-minute bookings or same-day appointments—so you never have to panic.
8. Save Money on Supplies and Equipment
Professional cleaners bring their own high-grade supplies, including:
Commercial-grade vacuums and steam cleaners
Eco-friendly disinfectants
Glass and stainless-steel cleaners
Microfiber cloths and specialized brushes
Not only do you avoid the cost of constantly buying new products, but you also benefit from tools and methods that are typically more effective than what’s available at your local supermarket.
Some services even offer discounts for supplying your own materials—providing added flexibility for those with allergies or chemical sensitivities.
9. Trust and Accountability
One of the biggest concerns people have about hiring cleaning help is trust. Professional maid services near Manhattan understand this, which is why they prioritize:
Background checks on all employees
Bonding and insurance for damage or theft protection
Detailed cleaning checklists to ensure quality
Transparent communication and responsive customer service
Many services even offer satisfaction guarantees or will return to fix any areas you’re unhappy with at no extra cost.
10. Support Local Businesses and Jobs
By hiring local House Cleaning Services, you’re contributing to the local economy, supporting small businesses, and helping create job opportunities within the Manhattan and greater NYC community.
Many cleaning companies are minority- or women-owned, and some reinvest in community programs or sustainability initiatives. Choosing local isn’t just convenient—it’s impactful.
Final Thoughts: Invest in a Cleaner, Calmer Life
You have enough on your plate. Whether you’re managing a career, raising a family, or running a business, household chores shouldn’t add unnecessary stress to your daily life.
Hiring House Cleaning Services in Manhattan is more than just outsourcing a task—it’s an investment in your time, health, and peace of mind. With flexible packages, skilled professionals, and custom-tailored plans, these services offer solutions that fit modern urban lifestyles.
If you’ve been overwhelmed by the demands of maintaining your space, consider calling on trusted maid services near Manhattan. The relief of walking into a spotless, fresh-smelling home—without lifting a finger—is worth every penny.

Home Renovation Permits in Ontario: Your Comprehensive Guide
What Constitutes a Permit-Worthy Renovation?
When your reno project changes the structural backbone—like moving walls, altering load-bearing beams, or installing new windows—it probably needs a permit. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC—these systems are also permit-sensitive.
The Safety Imperative Behind Permits
Permits exist to ensure habitability. They ensure that systems are properly installed, meeting building code, and ultimately protect inhabitants from hidden hazards like structural failure, fire, or flooding.
Municipal Variations Across Ontario
Permit regulations differ between Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, and smaller towns. It's essential to consult your local building department for precise guidelines. Even fire safety protocols can vary.
The Planning Phase: Before Starting Sledgehammers
Getting approvals requires architectural drawings, site plans, and compliance letters. Without these, your permit will stall. Prepare thoroughly and think two steps ahead.
Applying for a Building Permit
Complete the municipal application: detailed floor plans, structural layouts, fees, and contractor information. Some municipalities now offer online portals that streamline this process.
How Long Does Approval Take?
Generally, minor interior renos can take 2–4 weeks. Major structural or multi-unit projects may need several months. Expect back-and-forth clarification requests from building officials.
Costs Beyond Construction
Permit fees vary but often run between $1,000 to $5,000. There are also potential charges for engineering reviews, specialized inspections, and zoning clearances.
Electrical and Plumbing Permits
Qualified professionals must handle these systems. DIY plumbing or wiring voids insurance and may violate code. Ensure your electrician or plumber pulls the right permits.
Zoning and Heritage Designations
Renovations in heritage districts or setback-sensitive zones may require heritage or committee-of-adjustment approval. This might involve municipal heritage committees or planning boards.
When No Permit Is Needed
Certain cosmetic updates, like painting, new flooring, or replacing existing fixtures (without moving plumbing or electrical points) typically aren't permit-requiring. Always verify first.
Role of Inspections Throughout the Process
Inspections occur at critical milestones: footing, framing, insulation, and final walkthrough. Each step must be signed off before advancing to the next. A failed inspection can pause your project.
Consequences of Skipping Permits
Renovating without a permit risks stop-work orders, hefty fines, voided insurance, difficulty selling the home later, or having to demolish work retroactively.
Permit Extensions and Revisions
Projects often deviate from original plan. If you change scope mid-project, apply for a revision. If the permit expires before completion, you’ll need an extension.
Working With Permit Expediters
Permit expediters help navigate municipal red tape, strategy planning, and submission. Their fee can be offset by time saved—but ensure they’re accredited.
Green Renovations and Energy-Efficiency Programs
Certain programs—including smart home upgrades or energy retrofits—offer incentives or streamlined approval. Ask about energy-efficient HVAC or insulation rebates.
'As-Built' Drawings: Why They Matter
Once your project’s done, you should update drawings to reflect the final layout—walls moved, beams added, extra windows. These 'as-built' plans are crucial for future work or sale.
Working With Contractors: Permit Responsibilities
Clarify who’s pulling which permits—especially on shared-site jobs. Ensure responsibilities are contractually defined: electrical work vs structural framing vs HVAC.
Selling Your Home After Renovation
If renovations aren’t permitted, home appraisers or buyers may balk. Unpermitted work can reduce value or complicate mortgage underwriting. Always have proper documentation.
Checklist for a Permitted Renovation
Create detailed architectural plans
Submit complete application to municipality
Pay applicable fees
Schedule periodic inspections
Address any order or discrepancy notices
Gather all approval documents post-completion
Extra Resources to Navigate the Process
Each municipality provides guidebooks or websites outlining step-by-step instructions. For deeper insights or permit flowcharts, you can also check out this article.
Navigating the Permit Maze: Final Thoughts
Home renovations in Ontario require more than bricks and drywall—they need regulatory clarity. A properly permitted project ensures safety, credibility, and long-term value. Be meticulous early, embrace inspection milestones, and leave no documentation undone. It's not just about building—it’s about building properly.
By embracing the permit process, you’re not only investing in your home—you’re investing in peace of mind.

Apollo Group TV’s Ascent in Streaming: What Viewers Must Know
The streaming revolution has transformed the way audiences consume entertainment. With the growing demand for flexible, on-demand, and affordable television experiences, several IPTV services have emerged to meet the needs of viewers who are turning away from traditional cable. Among these, Apollo Group TV has gained considerable traction in recent years. Known for its high-quality streaming, vast content library, and user-friendly interface, Apollo Group TV is rapidly becoming a household name among cord-cutters. This article explores the rise of Apollo Group TV, how it works, its features, benefits, and what sets it apart from the competition.
The Emergence of Apollo Group TV in the Streaming World
The landscape of television and video consumption has evolved significantly over the past decade. While giants like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime dominate the subscription-based streaming arena, there's a growing market for IPTV services that offer more extensive channel lineups at a fraction of the cost. Apollo Group TV emerged in response to this demand. Rather than limiting users to pre-recorded content, Apollo Group TV offers a mix of live television, movies, sports, and series—all available via internet streaming.
Launched with a focus on quality and performance, Apollo Group TV quickly garnered a loyal user base. The service appeals to both international viewers and those in the U.S. looking for premium entertainment options that won’t break the bank. With traditional cable subscriptions becoming more expensive and restrictive, IPTV services like Apollo Group TV are not just alternatives—they are quickly becoming preferred choices.
What is Apollo Group TV?
Apollo Group TV is an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) provider that delivers content over the internet instead of through traditional satellite or cable formats. It offers an impressive selection of live TV channels, on-demand movies, and TV shows. With support for HD and even 4K streaming, Apollo Group TV caters to users who expect modern viewing experiences without the hassles of outdated infrastructure.
What makes it particularly popular is its flexibility. Users can access the service on a wide range of devices, including Android TV boxes, Firesticks, Smart TVs, PCs, and smartphones. No satellite dish or cable box is needed—just a stable internet connection. The platform is subscription-based, usually offering monthly or annual plans that grant full access to all features and content.
Key Features of Apollo Group TV
One of the driving forces behind the rise of Apollo Group TV is the robust list of features that enhance the user experience. Some of its most notable offerings include:
Extensive Channel Selection: Apollo Group TV provides thousands of live TV channels, including sports, news, entertainment, kids, and international options. From ESPN to BBC, viewers can enjoy a wide range of content from all over the world.
On-Demand Library: In addition to live TV, Apollo Group TV boasts a vast on-demand library of movies and TV shows, including the latest Hollywood releases and classic favorites. This makes it a one-stop solution for all types of entertainment needs.
High-Quality Streaming: Most channels are available in HD, and many support 4K resolution. With a stable internet connection, viewers can enjoy buffer-free, high-definition viewing.
Multi-Device Compatibility: The service can be used on multiple devices, offering the freedom to watch content at home or on the go. It supports Android, iOS, Fire TV, Android TV, Mac, and Windows.
Electronic Program Guide (EPG): Apollo Group TV includes an EPG, or TV guide, allowing users to browse and schedule their favorite shows easily.
Customer Support and Reliability: The service is known for its responsive customer support and regular updates to maintain optimal performance and security.
Benefits of Using Apollo Group TV
For many users, switching to Apollo Group TV offers significant advantages compared to traditional cable or other streaming services.
Affordability: Apollo Group TV provides a wide variety of channels and on-demand content at a much lower cost than traditional cable packages. Users can often save hundreds of dollars annually by making the switch.
No Long-Term Contracts: Unlike cable companies that lock customers into annual contracts, Apollo Group TV offers flexible subscription plans, which can be canceled anytime.
Ease of Use: The interface is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy for even non-tech-savvy users to navigate and enjoy content without confusion.
Customization: Users can personalize their viewing experience by creating favorite lists, selecting preferred language channels, and more.
Global Access: Whether you’re traveling or living abroad, Apollo Group TV allows users to access their favorite channels from anywhere, offering global reach not possible with regional cable services.
Legal and Technical Considerations
As with any IPTV service, it's important to understand the legal and technical aspects. While Apollo Group TV positions itself as a premium IPTV service, IPTV laws vary significantly by region. Users should ensure that their use complies with local regulations.
From a technical standpoint, using Apollo Group TV requires a high-speed internet connection—preferably above 25 Mbps for 4K streaming. A VPN is also recommended for added privacy and to prevent any location-based restrictions that may affect access to certain channels.
Comparing Apollo Group TV with Competitors
In a crowded IPTV market, what sets Apollo Group TV apart from competitors like IPTV Smarters, Tivimate, or Gears TV?
Stability and Uptime: One of the most praised aspects of Apollo Group TV is its stability. Where many IPTV services suffer from frequent downtime, Apollo Group TV maintains consistent service quality.
Content Variety: The platform offers a balance of both live and on-demand content, with a particular emphasis on American and international channels.
User Experience: With an intuitive layout, detailed guide, and minimal buffering, Apollo Group TV delivers an experience that rivals big-name streaming services.
Pricing Tiers: Offering different plans to suit various user needs, Apollo Group TV allows customers to pay for what they actually use, unlike fixed-package services.
Future Outlook for Apollo Group TV
The future looks promising for Apollo Group TV. As demand for flexible, internet-based TV continues to rise, the company is likely to expand its offerings further—potentially adding more exclusive content, interactive features, and integration with smart home devices.
Ongoing advancements in broadband infrastructure, 5G networks, and AI-powered content recommendation systems also open doors for platforms like Apollo Group TV to enhance personalization and overall value.
Final Thoughts
Apollo Group TV’s meteoric rise is a reflection of the changing media consumption habits of the modern viewer. With a strong lineup of features, competitive pricing, and growing popularity, Apollo Group TV stands as a solid contender in the IPTV landscape. For those looking to cut the cord and embrace a more flexible and cost-effective way to watch live and on-demand TV, Apollo Group TV offers a compelling solution.

✨ Is Your Building Just "Clean" or Is It TRULY Sparkling? Let's Talk Deep Clean! ✨
Ever walk into a building and just feel the difference? You know, the kind of place that smells fresh, where every surface seems to hum with care? Or maybe you've encountered the opposite – a place that feels… well, a bit unloved. Your building's vibe isn't just about the décor; it's a giant billboard for what's inside, reflecting the people and the professionalism it holds.
Here's the thing: a lot of folks see building cleaning as just a quick tidy-up. "Sweep the floors, empty the bins, done!" But, oh boy, are they missing the whole picture! Overlooking the real nitty-gritty of cleaning can seriously impact everyone's health, safety, and even the dollar value of your property.
Truth bomb: building cleaning is a serious, complex gig. It’s way more than just surface sparkle. It's about protecting your assets, creating healthy environments, and boosting your property's value. So, let’s dive deep and unmask what building cleaning really means, why it’s a total game-changer, and why getting the pros in is a seriously smart move.
"Clean" vs. "Building Clean": What's the Big Diff?
When you ask, "What is a building clean?", it’s not just about things looking neat. Nope! Building cleaning is a holistic, systematic process. It covers a vast range of services designed to keep commercial, residential, or industrial spaces not just clean, but sanitary and absolutely pristine.
Think of it like this:
More than just tidying: It’s about deep disinfection, making sure those germs are GONE.
Long-term love: It’s about maintaining your facility's components so they last longer.
Professional vibes: A truly clean space projects professionalism and care, boosting productivity and wellbeing.
It’s about optimizing your environment, not just for today, but for the long haul!
The Hidden Superpowers of a Building Cleaner (Spoiler: It's a LOT!)
Ever wonder what the actual duties of cleaning a building involve? It's seriously comprehensive! These aren't just folks pushing a mop; they're environmental wizards.
Here’s a sneak peek at their extensive toolkit:
General Cleaning MVP: This is your everyday hero stuff – trash removal, dusting every surface (yes, every surface!), vacuuming carpets until they look brand new, and mopping hard floors until they shine.
Restroom & Kitchen Rehab: These are germ hotspots! Cleaners perform high-touch point disinfection, make sure fixtures sparkle, and keep supplies fully stocked. The goal? A truly germ-free and sanitary zone.
Floor Fun (and serious work): Beyond just mopping, we're talking stripping, waxing, polishing, and deep cleaning for all sorts of floor types. This keeps them looking great and lasting longer.
Window Wizards: Crystal-clear interior glass and windows? Yep, that's them too!
The Nitty-Gritty Details:
High-level dusting (think vents, light fixtures – places you probably forget!)
Elevator cleaning (because first impressions start there!)
Spot cleaning walls (goodbye, mysterious smudges!)
Waste Management Pros: Efficient trash removal and strict recycling protocols are a huge part of keeping a building tidy and eco-friendly.
It's a thorough and comprehensive list, ensuring that every corner gets the regular attention it deserves.
Decoding the Lingo: What Do We Call These Cleaning Rockstars?
Ever heard different names for the same service or job and wondered what’s what? Let’s clear up the jargon!
What do you call it when you clean buildings? You might hear...
Commercial building cleaning (pretty straightforward!)
Office building cleaning (if it’s just offices)
Facility cleaning (a broad term for any large property)
Janitorial services (the classic!)
Property management cleaning (because it's key for landlords!)
Or simply, Professional cleaning services – which covers it all!
And what about the amazing people who do it? These dedicated individuals go by many titles:
Commercial cleaner / Building cleaner
Janitor / Custodian (old school, but still valid!)
Professional cleaning technician (highlights the skill!)
And sometimes, even Building hygienist – which really emphasizes their crucial role in public health!
No matter the name, these folks bring some serious professionalism and expertise to the table. They’re not just cleaning; they’re safeguarding your environment!
Cleaning Levels: Beyond the Daily Shine!
Not all messes are created equal, and neither are all cleaning jobs! Here’s a breakdown of different building cleaning types:
Routine Cleaning: This is your everyday maintenance, keeping things consistently neat. Think daily or weekly upkeep – the gentle hum of cleanliness.
Deep Cleaning: This is where things get serious! It's a periodic, intensive clean that tackles those hidden spots and ensures thorough disinfection. Think spring cleaning, but on steroids, reaching all the grime routine cleaning misses.
Post-Construction Cleaning: Just finished a reno or a new build? This specialized service is essential! It removes all the dust, debris, and grime left behind, making sure the space is safe and pristine for handover.
Exterior Cleaning: Don't forget the outside! This covers facades, windows, and even power washing parking areas. First impressions are everything, right?
Specialized Industry Cleaning: Some places need extra-special care:
Healthcare: Super strict health and safety standards for sterile environments. No room for error!
Industrial: Dealing with machinery, sometimes hazardous materials. This needs specific training and equipment.
Retail: Keeping that storefront and interior looking flawless to attract customers.
Each type of cleaning has its own specific health and safety standards to meet, ensuring a safe, thorough, and compliant environment.
Smart Money: Why Professional Building Cleaning Pays Off!
Thinking of professional building cleaning as just an expense? Think again! It's actually a strategic investment with a fantastic return on investment (ROI).
Health & Safety First! Creating a sanitary, germ-free zone isn't just nice; it's crucial. It drastically cuts down on illness spread and ensures you're totally compliant with health regulations. Happy, healthy people are productive people!
Look Good, Feel Good! A consistently spotless building creates a killer first impression. It attracts and keeps tenants and clients, reinforcing your brand as polished and professional.
Protect Your Pennies (and Property)! Regular, professional cleaning prevents wear and tear, extending the life of your materials, fixtures, and finishes. This preserves and increases your property's value over time. That’s asset protection in action!
Boost Productivity! Who wants to work in a grubby space? A clean, well-maintained environment boosts morale, cuts down on distractions, and actually makes people more efficient and productive.
Tenant TLC: For landlords, top-notch building cleaning is a huge win for tenant satisfaction. Happy tenants stick around, simple as that!
It's all about making a smart investment in quality, longevity, and overall success.
Finding Your Cleaning Dream Team!
So, how do you pick the right professional cleaning service? It’s like finding a business partner – you need trust, reliability, and top-tier quality.
Here’s what to look for:
Proven Experience: Do they have a solid track record? Check references!
Comprehensive Insurance: Non-negotiable! Protects everyone.
Certifications & Training: Are their technicians skilled and certified?
Background Checks: Essential for peace of mind about who’s in your building.
Customization is Key: Do they offer cleaning plans tailored to your specific building’s needs? One-size-fits-all rarely works.
Open Communication: You want a team that communicates clearly and transparently.
Eco-Friendly Options: Ask about sustainable products and green practices if that’s important to you!
Choosing a trustworthy partner means your building will not just be clean, but truly shine with professionalism.
The Grand Finale: Beyond Just Clean!
So, there you have it! Building cleaning isn’t just a task; it's an ongoing, strategic investment. It’s far more than just emptying bins or a quick sweep – it's about creating a safe, healthy, and inviting environment that lasts.
It profoundly impacts:
Health and safety for everyone inside.
Your property value and how long it stands strong.
Tenant satisfaction and retention.
And the overall success and appearance of your commercial or residential property.
Don't just get your building "cleaned," get it optimized! Prioritize professional building cleaning services and ensure your spaces are not just tidy, but truly pristine, safe, and ready for whatever success comes next!
