a/n: ty for requesting and hope you enjoy anon !
summary: zuko apologizes and receives something in return
Tumblr media
What was meant to be a simple trip into town for supplies had quickly turned into a disaster, and Zuko believed it was your recklessness to blame.
You’d been too preoccupied in admiring a local merchant’s vast collection of sea shells to notice the Fire Nation soldier creeping up behind you, and if not for Zuko shoving you out of the way to take on the man himself you surely would have been burnt alive. Your failure to stay aware of your surroundings and lackadaisical attitude had almost gotten you killed, and the Prince made sure to point this out to you afterward.
“Are you trying to get yourself killed?!” He scolds you after dragging you out of the marketplace by the arm and back towards camp.
“I was looking at shells, actually, before you so rudely interrupted,” you correct with an impatient roll of your eyes, but the act only seems to annoy him further.
“This isn’t a game, y/n! We didn’t come here to mess around, we came to quickly get more food and go, and we couldn’t even do that because you were too busy looking at stupid shells to notice your surroundings! You could have been hurt or worse!”
“Relax, ‘your highness,’” you dismiss him defensively, harshly yanking your arm away from his grasp. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not dead. I’m fine. You need to stop overreacting and leave me alone!”
Zuko watches with a scowl as you stomp away from him and towards your tent, ignoring the quizzical looks your friends send your way as you shut the flaps closed.
“What’s her problem?” Toph asks with a raised brow from her spot beside the campfire.
“What did you do?” Katara snaps at the boy with an accusatory glare.
“I didn’t do anything!” Zuko exclaims defensively. “As a matter of fact, I just saved her life and now she’s mad at me!”
“Saved her life? What happened out there?” Aang questions with a worried frown. “Was anyone hurt?”
“A Fire Nation soldier snuck up on her while she was distracted and was about to strike before I pushed y/n out of the way and fought him myself.”
“So… what you’re saying is you guys didn’t get any food?” Sokka notes dejectedly only to receive a scolding smack upside the head from his sister.
“If you saved her life, then why is she so upset?”
“I may have been a bit harsh with her after,” Zuko admits reluctantly, awkwardly grasping at the back of his neck. “I didn’t mean to snap at her, but I was just frustrated that she wasn’t taking her own safety seriously.”
“Look, that’s just how y/n is sometimes. She’s too trusting of her surroundings sometimes, but you have to gently remind her to be careful,” Sokka explains to his friend. “Maybe if you hadn’t yelled at her she would have taken you seriously.”
“Just give her some time to cool off and apologize later,” Katara advises the fire bender. “She just needs her space.”
Frustrated, Zuko lets out a long sigh before ultimately relenting. Katara is right. He just needs to give you some space to process before bothering you again.
By nightfall the moon has risen in the sky and the rest of your group has called it a day, retreating to their tents to sleep and rest for whatever tomorrow may bring. You still haven’t set foot out of yours since Zuko yelled at you, and the Prince has spent the better half of his day groveling outside waiting for you to emerge. He’s beginning to grow impatient, but he’s also extremely worried. You missed dinner, and no one has been able to get you to come out.
Deciding enough is enough, Zuko takes it upon himself to barge into your tent and check on you. Better you be mad at him for invading your space without permission than for something to be wrong with you without anyone knowing.
When he enters your tent the last thing he expects to find is your figure curled up in your sleeping bag crying. Your body trembles under the blankets and your quiet sniffles are the only sound in the space. If you notice his presence you don’t acknowledge it, and Zuko hesitates before carefully sitting himself beside you.
“Y/n?” He calls out softly, gently pulling the covers back to get a look at your face. Water marks line across your cheeks from tears that had managed to dry off your skin, and it takes you a moment to finally meet his gaze.
“I’m sorry for making you mad,” you whisper meekly, voice cracking with effort after hours of minimal use.
“No, you don’t have to apologize. I should be apologizing for how I acted,” he assures you sincerely, carefully wiping away your remaining tears. “I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I was just worried about your safety- I’m not sure what I would have done if something bad had happened to you.”
“You really mean that?” You sniffle, looking up at him with doubt clear in your eyes.
“Of course I do. I know it probably didn’t seem that way when I was yelling at you, but I’ve come to care a lot for you, and I’d hate to see you get hurt.”
“I didn’t know…” you murmur quietly as you carefully sit up from your sleeping bag to reach eye level with the Prince. “I always figured you just saw me as some annoying girl you had to babysit.”
“Well, maybe at first,” he admits with a sheepish chuckle only to immediately stop when he catches your unamused glare, “but now I look forward to being sent to the market with you. I enjoy your company even if it means having to be more vigilant of our surroundings on your behalf. Can you just promise me that next time you’ll be a little more careful?”
“I promise,” you nod earnestly and, much to Zuko’s surprise, pull him in for a tight hug. He stiffens at first, unsure how to react to the close contact, but eventually he’s able to allow himself a chance to enjoy your warmth and reciprocate your embrace.
Only you could have the grumpy Prince wrapped so tightly around your finger.

Zuko & Hanahaki
Tumblr media
Hanahaki: a disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from unrequited love.
There you sat. Adorned in apple red robes, carefully feeding and playing with the turtle ducks. Zuko stood concealed by the shadows of his opulent home and continued watching you. Continued watching the girl he'd first became infatuated with all those years ago before his scar. Before his banishment. And now that he was back and the new Fire Lord, you two were both able to rekindle your friendship.
Friendship. Zuko hated the word, especially when you used it. Because being back home and spending time with you once again, and not having his banishment or father or the Avatar consume his thoughts, he suddenly realised how deeply he felt for you.
Your laugh suddenly filled the air like sweet perfume, pulling Zuko's lips into a smile. Something got caught in his throat, and he figured it was another symptom of being in love. But his brows furrowed once he realised something was really stuck in his throat. He let out a small cough, and watched three pink petals from his mouth float down to the ground. He looked down in disbelief and horror.
Tumblr media
"What do you mean you coughed up petals?"
"I don't know how else to put it Aang. I just, they came out of my mouth. I coughed them up!"
The hum of a simple tune caught Zuko's attention. Swinging his head in the direction it was coming from he watched as you walked past, accompanied by others. Aang and Katara followed his eyes to see you.
"Hi y/n!" They both called out, and you turned to wave back before you caught sight of Zuko. "Hi Zuko." You said warmly.
He awkwardly waved back and you continued down the path through the gardens with your peers. Another cough became lodged at the back of his throat and he couldn't help but let it out. Hands clamped over his mouth, Zuko coughed a little harder than before, and he kept his hands there, afraid to look. Aang and Katara simply stared back at him with a frown.
"Zuko, did you cough up flowers again?"
Zuko shook his head.
Unconvinced, Katara folded her arms. "Zuko."
He pulled his hands away, revealing the bundle of petals in the palm of his hands.
"Oh Zuko, you know what this is? You're sick with Hanahaki." Katara exclaimed.
"I think I heard Gyatso mention it once...I didn't think he was being serious though." Aang responded, scratching his head.
"Well, what is it and how do I get rid of it?" Zuko snapped, throwing the petals out of the window.
"It's a lovelorn disease. You're sick with flower petals because y/n isn't returning the love you feel for her!"
Zuko shook it off, stating it was the craziest thing he'd ever heard and declared he had Firelord duties to attend to. So with a giggle to themselves, Katara and Aang let Zuko be.
Tumblr media
It only got worse. And soon, Zuko found that he had to distance himself from you so that you wouldn't find out. There were times when Zuko, the gaang and yourself would all spend time together and Zuko could feel the stir in his chest. The odd sensation in his throat and he'd quickly hurry away.
"Ha! He's coughing up those petals again-"
Katara swiftly elbowed Sokka to shut him up.
"Ow.." Sokka said, rubbing his side.
But you were too focused on Zuko's figure becoming smaller and smaller as he headed down the hall. Curiosity and concern itched at the back of your brain. Why was Zuko acting as though he couldn't stand to be around you anymore. What had changed? What did you do?
Aang came up beside you, watching on with you as Zuko disappeared around the corner. "Maybe you should talk to him."
Tumblr media
Of course you could imagine Zuko's dread when one of his officials and trusted advisors interrupted his quick escape. He quickly slipped his hands under the sleeves of his robe, holding onto the petals in his fist. And as they spoke to him, you can imagine his frustration when they told Zuko that he ought to organise an event at the palace in honour of him slowly bringing peace between the nations.
So the throne room was filled with generals and lady's dressed in their most expensive clothes, along with music and servants serving the most exquisite meals. Everyone was having a splendid time.
Zuko, however, was a mess. He had anticipated your arrival the entire night, but he was also worried about seeing you, given his odd disease. And so when you finally walked through those doors you instantly stole the breath from his lungs. Crimson silk robe draped over your body. A beautiful golden headpiece with red petals in your hair.
Petals. Zuko scoffed at the irony. You were already scanning the crowd for Zuko, until your eyes locked onto each other. His dark hair was up, complimented by the Firelord headpiece. He looked so handsome, so sweet as he stared back at you. That was until he quickly averted his gaze and hurried away, and that heavy feeling was back in your chest.
Zuko could barely contain it now. As he walked out to the pond where the turtle ducks lied asleep and close to their mother, handfuls of petals kept escaping him, leaving a trail behind as he coughed.
And coughed, and coughed, and coughed.
He cursed his stupid situation. This stupid disease. These stupid petals. Arms crossed, he glared out at the pond before footsteps amongst the grass caught his attention.
"Zuko?"
It was you. He half turned to see you glancing down at the cherry blossom trail on the ground. Then, with a glint of confusion passing through your eyes, you looked back at him. Zuko wanted to crawl into a hole. He wanted to crawl into the smallest hole he could find and hide in there forever.
"Zuko, what is this?"
He instinctively turned from you. "Nothing." He said, grimacing at his harsh tone.
"It's not nothing..." You said, coming closer until you were by his side. Zuko's body tensed with you being so close to him. So close, yet so far away.
"Zuko, look at me." You held onto the sleeve of his robe and turned him to face you. Shame and embarrassment quickly flooded his expression as he struggled to look you in the eye.
"I said it's nothing. I swear."
"No..." You shook your head, your heart heavy in your chest as the realisation hit you. "The gaang were telling me about this. Just the other day. Hanahaki disease. I didn't realise you had it."
Zuko scowled. Of course they couldn't keep this to themselves and felt the need to give you hints. He shook his head and turned his body away from you again.
"There's someone? A girl that isn't returning your affections?"
Zuko was silent. You let out a sad sigh, wondering who he had such fervent feelings for.
"And she hasn't noticed that you like her? What a stupid girl." You said, arms crossed over your dress.
Zuko turned to you and the words fell from his lips before he could realise what it was he was saying. "Don't call yourself stupid."
Stunned. Both of you were stunned as you stared at each other.
"Me?" You breathed.
Zuko hesitantly grabbed your hand. "Well, who else? It's only ever been you."
But you were too surprised to respond. Both surprised and ecstatic.
"You got Hanahaki because of me?" You asked, a slight smile creeping onto your face.
Zuko bashfully rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I guess."
Then, you did something you thought you'd never do. Still holding onto his hand, you leant in and gave him a quick, tender kiss on his lips. And in that moment, Zuko had never felt more at peace and embarrassingly enough, completely obsessed with you. Only meaning it to be quick because your shyness was getting the better of you, you were about to pull back until Zuko went back in for more. His kiss deep and passionate. Both of your hearts soared, and now nothing else mattered except for you and the relationship that was beginning to blossom.
Your kisses finally came to a stop, and your arms gently wrapped around his neck, your head resting on top of his shoulder. The thrumming in Zuko's chest was so intense he was afraid you would be able to feel it. Still, Zuko did what he'd been wanting to do for so long. He wrapped his arms around your waist and buried his face in your hair, eager to never let you go.
You smiled to yourself as a soft giggle fell from your lips. "You taste like cherry blossoms."
Zuko gave a breathy laugh in return.

nsfw, fem!reader, breeding and ozai being ozai
Tumblr media
Guarding the former Fire Lord, even with his inability to bend anymore, is daunting. Though a prisoner, Ozai is still intimidating and dangerous, those muscles not simply for display. There aren't many guards willing to take on the task of keeping a watchful eye on him for even a single shift, let alone during all of their working hours. Your bravery and resilience is rewarded with handsome payment, though by now, you'd do it for free! There are certain... benefits that have come with your position.
"Ah, ah— Mm! My Lord, oh, yes...!" You throw your head back onto Ozai's pillows, his time spent as a political advisor to his son having offered him a nicer cell than a typical prisoner would have, thanks to the leverage he still holds over the young man. Ozai has your limber legs spread wide against the mattress, your toes touching the headboard as the man above you plows into you with vigor, his cock reaching places inside of you that you never knew existed before fate brought you directly to him.
Ozai hisses, his grip tightening around your ankles. "That's it... Take it. Take my cock, my power, my all. You'll give me a new heir, one that will be perfect, one that won't fail me like the others! You'll do this for your King, without fail!" He spits out, the excited luster of his ideals getting him off as much as the way your slickened walls grip his shaft and beg to be filled once again, as he has every night for several months now. Whether you're on duty or sneaking into his chamber, you take your Lord's seed and humbly await the night you'll fall pregnant and kick his plans into gear. He cannot bend fire anymore, but his theory rests on your firebending abilities and his genetics to create a child that can bend, and be the very best.
Zuko was a failure from the very beginning, and Azula's demise must surely stem from her mother, a woman never loyal to the Fire Nation and Ozai himself. This heir will be the one to make him proud.
"Breed me, my Lord! It is my duty, my destiny to bear your child! Together, we shall restore your honor, your legacy, with our children."
Ozai grin is maniacal, his laugh sinister as he lowers himself to speak directly into your ear. "You're getting ahead of yourself, aren't you? You've yet to give me one heir, let alone multiple!"
"The solstice is nearly upon us." You pant, a mewling whimper breaking your concentration as your Lord twists your nipples that will one day feed his child and help him to become strong.
"And...?" Ozai's strong fingers squeeze the sensitive buds harder, grinning at how pleasurable you find his pain to be.
"T-There will be no better time to fall pregnant, my King. Our child will be strong, guided by the stars to take back what is yours!"
"Oh, really? So do you suggest I'm wasting my time now then?" Ozai begins to pull away, only slipping out a mere fraction of his slick-coated dick before your fingers, small and soft and so breakable like the rest of you, are threading into his hair. Amused, Ozai pauses with a raised brow and cocky smirk on his lips. "What's this, hm?"
"My Lord— My love." You breathe out, sneaky legs snaking around his trim waist to summon him back into his fully-seated position. "Please..."
"Please what?" He hisses, those strong arms slipping around your waist tightly in what's nearly a darling embrace, though he still remains only partially inside of your cunt. "Are you simply here tonight as my whore?"
"For you, I am anything." Your chest heaves, beads of sweat prickling you from head to toe. "The mother of your proper heir, the one that sees to your exemplary care... Your courtesan, your lover... Your wife, if you'd have me."
Ozai's large hand, one you'd still not fear even with his power intact, comes to rest at the side of your face. "Provide me a firstborn son that can firebend, and then we'll discuss a permanent relationship."
Your much smaller hand covers his, hopeful tears welling in your eyes. "I won't let you down, Phoenix King Ozai."
"See to it that you don't." Ozai's lips capture yours in a rare kiss, and he again rocks his hips to yours, soon filling you to the brim with seed that takes, settling deep into your womb to create the child that will swell your belly with his pride.

...
"I really don't want to supervise Zuko tonight." Sokka grumbled, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Ever since Zuko saved Aang and his friends from 'Combustion Man' or better known as 'Sparky Sparky Boom Man', nobody trusted him to sleep around them without supervision. Well, except (Y/N), but they thought she had some bias since he was fire nation.
Nobody had a single drop of respect for him. Even though he insisted that he, 'was good now', everyone believed he was a spy.
But nobody could blame them.
"I need my beauty sleep." Sokka mimicked a beauty guru as his hands framed his face. "The ladies appreciate a pretty boy."
Katara groaned, rolling her eyes. "It's your turn, Sokka." She crossed her arms, pursing her lips at him. "No one else is gonna-"
"I'll do it!" A voice quickly interrupted. Everyone turned to look at (Y/N), who was standing stiffly. She smiled awkwardly. She pinched at the hem of her pants, stepping forward. "I don't mind doing it.."
Sokka crossed his arms, raising a brow at (Y/N). Everyone was aware of the little 'crush' she had on Zuko. I mean, he was cute, he was angsty, and he was strong. Extremely short, but strong. She always took the chance to tease him.
"I mean, if you insist." Sokka walked away towards his tent, sighing softly in happiness. Rest was one of his most appreciated things in life - behind stuffing his face in food. Maybe it was because he liked the feeling of waking up in the morning, or the interesting dreams he had at night.
No one knew.
"Thanks, Sokka!" She said with a smile waving goodbye to him. "I-I mean, I'll do the job.."
As everyone headed off to their respective sleeping spots, (Y/N) listened to the quiet chirping of the crickets, looking up at the night sky as the stars glimmered. She considered whether or not she should g into Zuko's tent to check up on him (more like poke fun at him.)
While she ended an ear to the sound of the crackling flames coming from. the vampire, she heard the sound of shuffling coming from her left. (Y/N) glanced to the side, seeing Zuko climbing out from the flaps of his tent.
"Oh. Hi." He said awkwardly, holding his hand up in place of a wave. "What are you doing out here?" He questioned, wondering where Sokka was. Zuko was aware of the rotation for their watch party; Aang, Katara, Sokka, and then (Y/N). Toph didn't have the responsibility of watching Zuko since her feet were still injured from when he jumpscared him that night.
"Watching you." (Y/N) tried to play it cool, but a pool of desire filled her heart as she watched Zuko's dark hair fall in front of his amber eyes. He looked so pretty as the firelight shone on his pale skin. She started to grow pink under his gaze.
"Isn't it Sokka's turn?" Zuko stretched, his shirt lifting up to expose his stomach. (Y/N)'s eyes widened at the sight.
"Yeah, but he begged me to take his turn," She lied, rubbing the back of her neck. "he's awfully tired."
Zuko nodded. He began to walk over to the log (Y/N) was sat on. (Y/N) watched as he sat next to her, his pale fingers grazing the hard bark of the seat. It was extremely cold in the area, especially since they were in a semi-cave. After the failed invasion at the palace, they had begun to stay at the western air temple. The infrastructure was odd - upside building lining the roofs of the cave.
"I'm sure you won't mind hangin' out with me." She elbowed him, smirking. "Us being fire nation and all."
Zuko turned to look at her, a brown raised in confusion. "You're from the fire nation?" He asked, tilting his head. It was as if he was inspecting her. "You don't seem like it."
(Y/N) shrugged, glancing up at him. "Yeah. I mean, my family was banished when I was pretty young. But I'm still fire nation." She sighed, resting her chin on her hand, Her elbow dug into the skin of her knee, but she didn't mind. "Do you know Gender Jin?" She asked.
With a nod, Zuko said, "Yeah, why?"
Genera. Jin had been banished from the fire nation twelve years ago, whe Zuko was four. He had committed treason against Azulon, Zuko's grandfather, for having a child with a waterbender. Apparently, he was also accused of planning attacks on the fire nation with the northern water tribe during this time. It was never confirmed, but the speculation was brought up a whole lot.
"That's my Dad." (Y/N) said, sighing softly, Zuko let out a small 'oh', surprised at this.
"Are you-"
"The infamous forbidden child? Yep. Yes-sir-ee." (Y/N) interjected. She already knew what he was going to say. The word was passed around almost the whole world when it happened, since the fire nations grasp infiltrated every nation in some manner. She knew what her name was. She knew what people thought of her.
"The rumors of me being a firebender and a water bender aren't true." Zuko looked at her, surprised that she knew this. "I'm just a plain ole' firebender."
There was an awkward silence between the two. There was not much to say, at least off the top of their heads.
(Y/N) perked up, looking over at Zuko. "Do you think you could teach me some tricks?" She said excitedly. Zuko was caught of guard by this.
"Tricks? What do you mean?" He asked, wanting her to elaborate. He was looking for practice with a firebender lately, so this might be fun.
"Like, could you teach me?" (Y/N) looked away with an embarrassed face. Her father never told her firebending; he wanted her to live a normal life as a kid.
"You mean you don't know anything?" Zuko laughed in disbelief. "Anything at all?"
"Yeah.." (Y/N) grumbled, pursing her lips slightly. "I'm ashamed of it - I can admit it. But I wouldn't mind if you taught me some things." She wiggled her brows, smirking slightly as she glanced at him. Zuko flattened his lips.
"I mean, I don't have much to do." Zuko pushed off of the seat, leaning forward and standing up fully. He glanced down at (Y/N). He reached his hand out, offering it to her. "Come on."
...
They walked into a small clearing, the cold night wind blowing their hair back and forth. They had climbed above the cliff the western air temple hung from, where a large valley rested.
Zuko had removed the robe that hung over his clothes. His arms were exposed, small goosebumps lining his arms.
(Y/N)'s eyes graced his body, her face growing red from both the cold air and his body.
"Already undressing?" She teased, crossing her arms and grinning. "Take me out to dinner first."
Zuko glanced over to her, a frown appearing on his face. "W-what?" He said, shifting uncomfortably.
"I mean, I get that I'm the prettiest girl here - no offense to Katara." (Y/N) walked over, smirking. "but you barely know me Prince Zuko." She poked him on the chest jokingly. (Y/N) leaned on her legs her hip popping out.
Zuko huffed out a fiery breath (no pun intended), looking to the side. "Do you want to learn or not?"
(Y/N)'s eyes widened. She stepped back, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, yeah." She shook her arms nervously, stepping back and getting into a fighting stance.
"Fire bending is all about- what are you doing?" Zuko stopped mid sentence, looking at (Y/N).
"Uhm, getting into a stance?" She said awkwardly, looking to the ground.
"No, no. You're to open." Zuko stepped forward. He grabbed her wrists, pulling them down in front of her chest. "You're leaving your body open to hits." He walked behind her, putting his hands on her shoulders.
She shivered, the feeling of his fingers gracing her skin. (Y/N) leaned into the touch, his palms touching the lower part of her shoulders. "You opponents have the opportunity to knock you to the ground." Zuko placed his right foot on the inside of her legs. The toe of his shoe pressed against the heel of her foot, pushing it slightly.
"You want to be low.." He whispered into her neck, pushing her shoulders down so she was more level to the ground.
Was he doing this on purpose? (Y/N)'s heartbeat was audible in her ears, but she wasn't the only one who's blood was pumping from this interaction.
As she moved down her backside rubbed against Zuko's crotch lightly. He let out a small gasp, his eye twitching at the feeling.
(Y/N) smirked at the sound, realizing the affect she had on Zuko. What could she do with this? A lonely teenage boy? She was sure he wouldn't mind.
"Ope, sorry Zuko." She said slyly. She bent her knees even more, her ass pushing onto Zuko's growing erection.
Zuko shifted back uncomfortably, their contact breaking.
(Y/N) turned around, standing up fully. "Oh c'mon Zuko, i need you to show me how to do this." She smirked, her foot digging into the grass.
"I know what you're doing." Zuko said, his face growing red under the pale moonlight. His eyes scanned her, and unimpressed looked overcoming him.
"What am I doing?" She teased, a finger pressing onto Zuko's chest. "Tell me."
Zuko's face held a look of frustration. His eyes met hers, his eyebrows furrowing together. There was a hot tension between the two of them, healing the goosebumps on their skin from the cold night air.
The digit placed on his chest soon turned into (Y/N)'s entire hand. She took a step closer to him, causing Zuko to let out a shaky breath.
Even with her confidant pseudo, (Y/N)'s stomach was filled with a nervous sickness. She had no idea what she was doing - letting her desire lead her.
"You're trying to turn me on." Zuko muttered, keeping his voice low.
"It's working though, isn't it?" (Y/N) barked back.
Zuko's face flushed slightly, clearly caught off guard by your boldness. "I assure you, that wasn't my intention. Now if you'll excuse me..."
"No. Zuko, come on.." She said, a shaky breath huffing from my red nose. "Were so alike."
Zuko hesitated for a moment, his gaze flickering between you and the ground. "How so?"
"Were both refugees from a country that thrived on evil." Her arm traveled from his chest to his arm. (Y/N) watched as he flinched slightly. Her eyes made contact with his. "And you know what Sokka says about us behind our backs."
Zuko swallowed hard, his heart racing as he felt your touch. He knew what Sokka thought of them - that they were both damaged goods from a twisted world. Despite the danger and uncertainty, there was something undeniably compelling about this connection.
"I like you Zuko." She said, smiling softly. Her seductive shell cracked, shower her sweetness hidden inside.
Zuko looked into her eyes, feeling a familiar pain in his heart. Here was someone else who knew what it was like to be an outcast, to carry the burden of a nation's sins. "I like you too," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"I trust you, too." She sighed, squeezing his arm gently. "They didn't trust me either at first."
Zuko's heart skipped a beat at her words. Trust was a rare and precious thing in their world, where betrayal lurked around every corner. But she was offering it to him freely, without judgment or fear. "Thank you," he breathed out softly.
She leaned forward, placing a soft peck on Zuko's lips. A warm feeling flooded through their bodies, the world around them feeling almost unrecognizable as they sat in the moment.
Zuko froze for a moment, shocked by the unexpected kiss. But as he felt her lips on his, he found himself responding, leaning in to deepen the kiss. The warmth spread through him, filling the cold void that had been there for so long.
She grabbed his face, bringing him down to kiss Zuko deeply. (Y/N) let out a huff from her nose, letting her fingers comb through Zuko's dark hair.
Zuko's hands found their way to her waist, pulling (Y/N) closer as he kissed her back with all the pent-up longing and desire that had been building inside him for so long.
As the kiss deepened, Zuko felt a fire ignite within him, burning away the coldness and isolation that had defined his life for so long. He wrapped his arms around (Y/N), pulling her closer still as he explored her mouth with his tongue, tasting her sweetness.
As she broke away from the kiss, their breaths mingled in the air between them. Zuko felt his heart racing, a wild and unfamiliar sensation.
Zuko looked into her eyes, seeing a reflection of his own turmoil and desire. He couldn't believe what was happening, but he didn't want it to stop. His hands roamed down her back, pulling her even closer as he whispered, "I need you."
"Show me." She whispered, leaning up to kiss him again.
Zuko dragged her onto the grass with him, never breaking the kiss.
Zuko pulled her onto his lap, cradling her body against his as he deepened the kiss once more. His hands trailed down (Y/N)'s sides, pushing up her shirt to reveal her soft skin beneath.
Feeling emboldened by her invitation and his own burning need, Zuko slid his hands underneath her shirt, tracing circles on her bare back. His lips moved hungrily against hers as he lost himself in the sensation of her skin against his fingertips.
Zuko's hands continued their exploration, moving lower to grasp her hips as he pulled her even closer. He could feel the heat between her legs, and it fueled his desire even more.
With a groan, Zuko slipped his hand beneath her shorts, feeling the softness of her thighs and the wetness between them. He couldn't believe how much he wanted her, how badly he needed to be inside (Y/N).
"Shit, Zuko.." She said between heated kisses, fingers pulling at his soft hair.
Zuko growled against her lips as he continued to touch her, his other hand sliding up (Y/N)'s leg to knead at her ass cheek. He could feel himself growing hard against her leg and he knew he had to have her soon.
"This isn't how I expected this night to go." She played with Zuko, his lips connecting with the soft skin of her neck.
Zuko chuckled breathlessly, his lips trailing down her neck to nibble at her collarbone. "Neither did I," he admitted, his voice husky with desire.
"Is this how you practice back home?" (Y/N) said, her feet digging in the dirt behind Zuko.
Zuko laughed softly against her skin. "No," he replied, his voice still rough with lust. "But I think I'd like to make it a regular practice here."
(Y/N) moaned slightly when Zuko's hips bucked into hers. "Ill watch over you more often then."
Zuko's eyes darkened with desire as he heard her words, and he couldn't resist bucking his hips against hers a little harder. "I'd like that," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
As she pulled back a little, Zuko took the opportunity to stand up, his hands sliding up her back to grip your shoulders. He looked down at her with an intense gaze, his eyes full of the burning passion that had overtaken him. "Take me to your bed,"
"We can't. We'll wake the others." She smirked, grabbing onto Zuko's wrist.
A growl rumbled in Zuko's chest at the reminder of their surroundings. But he knew she was right. Reluctantly, he nodded. "Then we'll make do with this," he said, reaching down to scoop (Y/N) up in his arms.
Zuko's heart was racing as he carried you deep into the nearby forest, away from the edge of the cliff. "To a quiet spot," he replied, his voice low and gravelly with desire. "A place where we can be even more alone."
He came to a small clearing where the trees thinned out, revealing a bed of soft moss and leaves. Gently, he lowered (Y/N) down onto it, his hands lingering on her hips for a moment before he joined her, pressing his body against hers.
(Y/N) pulled down her shorts and underwear, the cold hair hitting her exposed sex.
"Just get on with it, Zuko." She groaned, rolling her eyes.
Zuko chuckled softly against your lips before pulling back slightly to give you a teasing grin. "Always so impatient," he teased as he slowly unbuttoned his pants, sliding down his pants along with his boxers. He sprang free, a bead of pre-cum on his tip.
"Spirits.." She whispered at the sight of him, how he was throbbing at the sight of her.
Zuko's gaze locked onto yours as he positioned himself between her legs, his hard length rubbing against her slick entrance. "You ready for me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"You tell me."
With a groan, Zuko pushed forward, slowly entering (Y/N). Her tight heat enveloped him, and he fought the urge to slam all the way inside. Instead, he began to move in and out of her slowly, enjoying the sensation of being joined with her.
(Y/N)'s hands found their way to his chest, and she leaned into him, moaning softly. The feeling of being filled by him was indescribable, and as he picked up speed, driving deeper inside her with each thrust, she felt herself getting closer to the edge.
She could feel Zuko's muscles tensing as he neared his climax, his thrusts becoming more erratic and forceful. His other hand found its way to her clit, massaging it gently as he continued to pound into her. "I'm close."
"Already?" She teased, trying to maintain a sarcastic demeaner as she let out erratic moans.
With a chuckle, Zuko leaned down to kiss her again as he pulled almost all the way out of her before slamming back in. "You like that?" he asked breathlessly.
She screamed, her nails scratching at Zuko's back until white marks appeared - lighter than his skin.
Feeling her nails dig into his skin, Zuko lost control completely. With a primal growl, he pushed her down onto the ground and continued to pound into her, taking what he wanted with no regard for her comfort or pleasure.
He was like a rabid animal, like this was the thing he needed to live.
Her screams of pleasure and pain echoed through the forest as Zuko continued to take her roughly, losing himself in the sensation of being inside her. He could feel his release building, and he knew he wouldn't be able to hold out much longer.
"Zuko!" She clenched around him, being pulled over the edge as she shook. Her orgasm washed over her, (Y/N)'s eyes clenching tightly.
Feeling her walls clenching around him, Zuko let out a guttural moan as he emptied himself inside her. His thrusts became erratic and forceful, his body shaking with the intensity of his orgasm.
Finally, Zuko's movements slowed down, and he collapsed beside her, panting heavily. His heartbeat slowly returned to normal as he nuzzled into her neck, still inside her. "That was... intense," he whispered against her skin.
"Ya think?" Her chest rose up and down as she still huffed. (Y/N) tried to catch her breath, but she was sweating from the intensity.
Zuko chuckled softly, feeling his cock twitch inside her. "I think," he said with a smirk. After a few moments, he pulled out of her and rolled onto his side, still panting heavily. "So... how do you feel?"
(Y/N) faked a deep thought for a moment, looking away from him. "Eh. It was fine." She smirked at him, causing Zuko to roll his eyes.
"So.. you were scratching at my back because you hated it so much?" He played, kissing her neck softly.
"For sure." She sighed, playing with his hair.
The two teens lay there, panting heavily as the moonlight illuminated their skin. Their bodies were tangled but not in a hurry to separate. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, their need for each other overruled everything. They could return in the morning, nobody would notice - right?

An: “how dare she have the nerve to disappear for this long?” I HAD A MAJOR BLOCK OKAY? 😢 exams are over tho which is chill
SOOOO SORRY I took this long, life gets busy but still, thank you so much for ur requests and ofc ur patience. I wrote a good chunk of this at like about 3 am so feel free to lmk if there’s mistakes.
Summary:
After years of being together, not being able to conceive was really taking a toll on your picture perfect relationship
Warnings: not being able to have a baby, children(?)
A single day blanket connecting you and your husband in the dark room, the candle light long abandoned as you both laid staring at the high ceiling. There was so much to say, and yet, neither of you found the words. And so you sat in silence.
You’d been trying to conceive for what felt like ages, and as of recently, it’s been taking a toll on your relationship. Neither of you meant for it to- but you found it was almost inevitable for you two. And so there you were, feeling foreign in your own home, words exchanged with Zuko were short due to his busy schedule, and by the time he’d come to bed, you’d be out like a light.
“You’re not usually up at this hour,” he remarked, turning his head to you. Your eyes had adjusted to the moonlight and his face was relatively clear.
“What, waiting to sneak out?” You jerked a brow, lips adorning a smile.
“Where would I even go?” The fire bender stretched, suppressing a yawn.
You shrugged, sitting up on the bed and resting your back on the headrest.
“How’re you not tired?” His eyes struggled and fought to stay open. You reached a hand and stroked his hair back from his face.
“I’m not sure, go to bed Zuko,”
“Can’t a man spend time with his wife,” he breathed out.
“Not at this hour,” you mumbled.
He smiled softly, bringing your hand back to his hair, humming as you scratched his scalp. It was in peaceful, domestic moments like this when you felt you were actually married, and actually in love. He rolled over, back facing you, body beginning to doze off into a deep slumber. You rested your head on the back board, sighing as you willed a wink of sleep to hint at your body. Your eyes trailed around the room, from the messy desk to the clean vanity, you always found yourself staring back at the window. As you became entranced with the stars, you felt goosebumps on your skin. The window was closed- so it couldn’t be that. Then again, insulation in the fire nation sucks, and the winters were harsh. You extracted your hand, carefully stepping out of bed to inspect the heaters. You tiptoed out before allowing your socked feet to walk normally across the expanse of the hallway. You breathed out a sigh, humming as you trailed one hand on the walls. You felt another shiver, and you became more frantic in your search- fire nation nightwear seemingly catered to the summer heat. By the time you reached the boiler room, you were shivering, shakily grabbing the handle to allow yourself into the confinement. You rolled your eyes, the machine was sneezing and coughing, your watchful gaze studying its movements.
“I’m not a handyman,” you scowled, nearing it to inspect more clearly.
Dust and grime built up from years of not renewing it, turns out royalty can be pretty lazy. You shuddered again, curling in on yourself. Defeatedly, you kicked the machine, which seemed to stop its sputtering entirely.
“Useless thing,” you groaned, walking out.
You were thankful for your socks at least, but maybe a pair of gloves would’ve been handy- at this rate, you would freeze to death. A sour look on your face and a slouch on your frame escorted you back to your room. When you pushed open the door, you found Zuko standing there, also about to open the door.
“Why are you awake?” You asked, still folding your arms.
“Why're you not in bed?”
“Heater’s busted, some of us aren’t natural fireplaces,” you rolled your eyes playfully.
“Give me your hands,”
“Okay,”
When your hands collided, you felt instant relief as the walking boiler used his powers to microwave your hands.
“Thanks,” you breathed out, and he smiled softly.
He led you back to the bed, before searching through the closet for spare blankets - none of which were present right now. Due to them recently being used by guests, they were in the wash, so you were stuck with the light fire nation palace covers.
“Sorry,” he scrunched his face in worry, joining you in bed.
You just sighed, trying to cuddle up into the blanket. Seemingly out of nowhere, he pulled you against his chest, ‘spooning’ you. You groaned at the sudden warmth, pushing your body further into his.
“You’re freezing,” he remarked.
“Really? Didn’t notice.”
“Ha ha.” He rolled his eyes.
His hands moved up and down on your arm, leaving a trail of heat in their path.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” Your husband mumbled- almost sounding disappointed.
“I mean- I was just inspecting,,” although you knew he was watching you, you avoided his gaze.
He sat up suddenly, resting on one arm while the other remained on your body, “You were never gonna wake me up were you?”
Silence.
“Are you mad at me?”
You looked backwards, questioning whether or not you should tell the truth. You paused, sliding your tongue along your teeth
“Your silence is enough of an answer, what’s wrong?”
“Zuko you’ve just been so distant- things aren’t the same between us and I just don’t get it,” you mumbled, turning over to face him and shoving your face into a pillow.
“Yn,”
“I’m not crazy Zuko, and I’m so over being forgotten- if you’ve got something to say, say it now.” You say up, glaring at him.
“The meeting are-“
“Oh don’t hit me with the meeting like you always do! I go to meetings too! You don’t see me ignoring everyone around me huh? Do you?”
“YN let me speak,”
“Why should I? So I can get another lame excuse? Or what? An insincere apo-“ you suddenly doubled over, covering your mouth as you gagged harshly.
Quickly, you got to your feet and landed in the restroom, throwing up what felt like all your intestines in the bowl. Zuko panicked, struggling to figure out how to help, when he settled on getting you a towel and sitting next to you.
You groaned, resting your head back on the wall, hugging your body with one arm while the other used a towel to dry your face.
“Did you eat something weird?”
“Not that I know of,”
“Can I explain myself now?”
You rolled your eyes.
“Yn, I’ve been getting bashed at practically every meeting by some general because I don’t have an heir yet- truth is they’ve kinda been on my back about it and I guess I’ve been taking it out on you. I’ve just been so worked up, trying to find a solution whilst keeping the peace I just forgot about how you might’ve felt. I’m really sorry Yn.”
You stared at him, mouth agape.
“Oh.”
“Yeah,”
You say in silence for a little, trying to digest this information.
“A-and if your up for it, I think we could try adoption?”
“But wouldn’t the sages be even more annoyed, I mean it’s not your blood right?”
“They don’t have a right to be mad right? They said get a kid so I’ll get a kid what more?”
“Fair enough,” you giggled.
He leaned over, kissing the top of your head, then helping you up to your feet. You stumbled back into the bedroom, drowning in the warmth he provided. Things felt like they were diffusing, and hey, maybe they’d even go back to normal.
After the morning groups and talks, you and Zuko met up with each other to visit a nearby adoption agency. Once you explained the situation, the lady was ever so helpful, providing insight on each child, what life would be like, what to expect and everything of the likes. After the contract wore your name, you and your husband were matched with a gentle, sweet and social child named Lee. The little boy was 5, with soft features that sort of resembled Zuko. The following week, you were visited by a few men and women who just checked around the conditions of your home. Then finally, the wait was over, the little boy was welcomed into your home. You and Zuko took a few days off to help the new member adapt to the conditions, and he seemed ever so excited to be adopted by the “king and queen”. You picked his room to be the one directly next to yours, the bedroom decorated and tailored to the little boy’s interests. Elated was the only word to describe how you felt as the child settled in nicely. He was a funny, charming young boy who made sure to express his appreciation daily. Never missing a “thank you” after a meal, or a hug goodnight. Even the fire nation folk were surprisingly welcoming, Zuko setting standards higher due to welcoming an orphan. The fame was of course never his intention, but the people still seemed pleased. Which now brings you to the third night in a row where you and Zuko sat somber in the bathroom- both exhausted beyond belief form the long day. However your stomach was awake and partying, and you were experiencing the effects of that.
“I think it’s time we go get that checked out,” he remarked.
“I don’t have time, with Lee and work and-“
“This is important too you know,”
“Yeah but priorities.”
“Yeah exactly so tomorrow?”
“Zuko I have things to do,”
“Okay but you said priorities, you’re a priority no?”
“Not in this scenario I’m not dying,”
“You’re throwing up,”
“Still not dying,”
“Why're you so opposed to going to the medic?”
“My life.”
“Huh?”
“It’s my life don’t tell me how to live it,”
“I’m not?”
“Yes you are.”
“YN.”
“ZUKO.”
“WHAT ARE YOU ARGUING WITH ME ABOUT JUST GO.”
“NO.”
“WHY NO?”
“BECAUSE.”
“BECAUSE WHAT?”
You lifted a finger, pointing at your head and shrugging. You could tell Zuko was getting impatient, but in your mind, not knowing what this is gave you one less thing to worry about. I mean, what if it’s something super serious? You now have a family, and more responsibilities than before- now is not at all the time. However, your husband saw differently. It wasn’t a hidden secret that Zuko was hard headed and stubborn, but this matter had virtually nothing to do with him, so if you don’t care he shouldn’t either. He slide his hand across his face, clenching his jaw.
“You’re going tomorrow.” He said sternly.
Your brows rose, a smirk on your face, “Oh? Says who?”
“Me.”
“And what gives you that authority over me?”
“I’m the fire lord,”
“That trick doesn’t work on your wife Zuko,”
“Yeah well I don’t have any others,” he fisher back a smile, losing the one scolding-type exterior.
“I just don’t want to bear another burden, I have enough on my plate as it is,”
“Yeah but what if this is a burden we have to bear? In the worst case scenario- I don’t want to be too late.”
“Can you tell me why you’re on the floor?” Startled, you both looked to see Suki at the door, a grin on her face.
“YN is-“ you smacked a hand over his mouth, his words coming out as mumbles.
“Just thought we’d change things up,” you scrunched your face.
“Yeah and that’s why it sounded like you were throwing up right?”
“I-“
“I checked the doctor is free and Lee is asleep let’s go,”
Zuko smiled brightly, feeling less alone. You however, opened your mouth to disagree when Suki pulled you out into the room, then out into the halls.
“Sukiiiiiiii,” you whined, trying to push back.
Zuko followed, ensuring you don’t escape.
“This is for your own good,”
“Leaving me alone is also for my own good!”
“You’re hilarious,” not a hint of a smile on her face.
The medic sat on the bed, her uniform dishevelled and eyes tired from this hour.
“You should go to bed,”
“Right after she checks up on you,” Your husband replied, narrowing his eyes.
“Fine.”
She sat you down on a bed, and began examining and asking questions. By the time she had gotten to the end of her checklist, you were preparing for the question. Despite being ready, you were thoroughly embarrassed, which the kyoshi warrior could only laugh at.
The lady thought for a moment.
“I have my suspicions that you could be pregnant ma’am, shall we bring in a water bender to give the results tomorrow?”
You sighed deeply, nodding.
That night was practically sleepless, Zuko held you in his arms, attempting to both provide you with warmth and ease your worry. Restless, you were fatigued when the sun finally emerged.
By noon, you, Zuko and Lee were sitting in a room, where you were on a bed and they were on some chairs. The water bender swished and swashed to try to gauge whether or not you were bearing a child. Then suddenly, everything was silent.
It was so silent, in fact, you could probably hear your own heartbeat.
“Congratulations, miss YN, you are pregnant.”
And with that, the celebrations began.
Lee was ever so joyed to have a younger sibling, going on to tell you all the fun adventures they’d have. Suki was excited to have more nieces to mess around with. Sokka, Katara and Aang travelled to congratulate you once they’d received the pigeon- as well as to welcome the little boy Lee. Toph, despite denying it, was actually happy you two got the family you dreamed of.
And of course, Zuko. You engraved the picture of his reaction into your head. He had waited for things to simmer down in the medical room before practically jumping for joy. He hugged you tightly, face glowing and eyes brimming with tears. Right after, he scooped up Lee, pecking kisses on his face, then yours, then laughing.
“You’re gonna be an older brother,” he whispered with a smile to Lee.
An: I could not think of a good title and a good ending so forgive me 🫣

Hi! Could I ask for Sokka (if u write him)/Zuko and Tenzin (again, if u write him) falling in love with a tattoo artist badass s/o please?
I loved your badass hcs! 🫶 you’re such an awesome writer!
Thanks in any case and have a lovely day!
I write for Sokka and Zuko, not Tenzin tho ,hope it's ok
Tumblr media
The first time Sokka saw you was when he was undercover in fire nation grounds.
It would happen that he passed by your shop, and out of curiosity peeked inside to see what's going on and all.
And then it happens,he sees you in all your glory. Tattoos imprinted on your body making you look like a goddess.
One specific tattoo caught his eye, a dragon image surrounded by red butterflies was drawn on your back.
He could see it because you wore a dark tank top ,low enough for your tattoo to be seen by the world.
When he returned to the camp he couldn't get you out of his mind, especially the arts imprinted on your body. Unfortunately he couldn't take a better look at you without looking like a creep.
But the next couple of days he spent his time thinking of you. Katara noticed and asked what's up with him,but he just shrugged her off and continued his day, mostly thinking about you.
Soon after ,He and Katara found their way to the city,in the area where you worked at. And then again, Sokka saw you.
He tried averting his gaze,if Katara saw him he wouldn't hear the end of it.
Fortunately Katara left to go buy food for the others, allowing Sokka to stare at you.
Then it came, that feeling from a few days ago, you turned around to check if your gut was right, and there he was , looking at you dumb founded.
You shaked your head, yet approached the boy who seemed to rudely stare at you.
"It's inappropriate to stalk and stare at someone, you know?" He remains stuck, trying to gather his words and finally speak. His eyes watching as you put both of your hands on your hips, head tilted expecting an answer.
Woah, your hands are also drawn on,yet he can't really decipher the designs.
"Helooo?" You snap your fingers in front of him,his gaze turning to look at your face.
Lord, were you gorgeous. Just like the designs drawn on your body, your breath taking.
"You're gorgeous." Really Sokka? That's the first thing you speak to her? Oh boy.
Your expression contorts in a confused one, registering the words he just spoke.
"Thanks? Even so ,that doesn't excuse your staring." You furrow your brows, deciding to cross your arms to look more intimidating.
"I'm sorry,it wasn't really my intention, but I just uh, really like those things that you have all over your uh body." He points with his hand at your hands, you chuckle, realizing he was just admiring the art stuck to your skin.
"You mean my tatts?" He watches as you quirk an eyebrow, figuring that's what they're supposed to be,he nods.
"Yeah, they're awesome!"awkwardly he rubs the back of his neck.
"I made those on my hands, I have a shop downtown, but I'm pretty sure you saw me there too." You speak, referring to the time you also felt stared at,only to turn and see a flick of dark hair leaving.
Sokka blushes, he didn't mean to seem creepy,he was just stuck, that's all.
Then he recalls what you just said. "Wait, you did those?!" The boy points at your hands with a pretty shocked expression on his face, mouth almost agape.
"Yes dummy, in my shop, where I tattoo people?" You quirk a brow up, amused by his care free personality.
"No way! That's so cool!" You could see he almost jumps of the ground. Another chuckle leaves your lips.
"I could muster up a pretty cool design for you,if you ever feel like it." You shrug, your eyes darting to your own tattoos.
"Oh uhm,I'm honored but I don't know,I never really thought about something like that." Sokka laughs awkwardly, yet inside he feels so warm, like someone is fire bending in him.
"Have it your way pretty boy." You shrug, turning around ready to leave, after all there's a client you have in an hour.
"I'll see you around !" He shouts after you, attracting the attention of other people in the market.
"Who are you shouting at?" Katara pokes him in the side, making her brother joint up.
"Katara uh, no one! Just my imaginary friends." He'd give her this smile, hoping she would drop it and go on with their day.
Don't worry Sokka,it's not the last time you get to meet your dream girl ;)
Tumblr media
Zuko admired what you did. The precision one must have to be able to do what you do...
He already said he could never do something like that.
But he does love your own tattoos.
Especially the one on your tigh, a snake surrounded by white flowers. And he made sure to tell you that.
He hangs around your shop pretty often, especially when he was hiding in ba sing se, sometimes making sure nobody is trying anything with you. It's just how Zuko is.
He even asked you one time if you would do something on him.
"You want me to tattoo on you?" You raise an eyebrow,a small smirk on your mouth.
"I mean yeah, I wouldn't mind." He would shrug ,and explain in detail how exactly he would like his design and how big,it would bring a big grin on your face.
He's a proud boyfriend, and he loves watching what you're doing.
After he becomes fire lord, you're his official court artist.
Zuko claims it's for your safety mostly.
He's just lovestruck by you and can't handle not having you around him.

“Please come get me.” For Zukka
Please make this as angsty and emotional as possible I was it to hurt thank you
(Maybe self-inflicted damage? Not necessarily SH but just by being willfully reckless?)
For this prompt game!
“You don’t think this is concerning?”
“No, Sokka,” Katara says again, patient, a familiar blend of exasperation and fondness in her chest as she glances over to where he’s fiddling with his wrist wraps, frowning down at Zuko’s latest letter. “I think it’s fine.”
“You’re sure?” he presses, anxious in a way he so rarely lets himself be this openly, at least in front of the people he’s anxious about. And because she knows how much he does worry no matter how much he tries to hide it, she leans over, gently taking the letter out of his hand and indulging him in scanning it over once again.
“He says it’s not as cold as he expected,” she says, skimming over the lines as Sokka pulls a little face, “That Arnook was nice, that he misses you—” she peaks through her lashes at that bit, looking for any twitch on his face as he just continues to nod along. “—that he’s looking forward to seeing you again, that the food’s good, that tomorrow’s going to be a big day.”
She lets her hand drop to look at him, expectant, sighing when he just continues to nod, face anxious.
“Sokka,” she says gently, “He says he’s fine. And I know you miss him,” she adds when he continues to look unconvinced.
“That’s not it,” he protests immediately.
“But he’s only going to be gone for a few weeks.”
“Katara, that’s not—”
“And you’ll see him soon, okay?” she finishes, reaching out to grab his hand, giving it a little squeeze until he sighs and leans back.
“Yeah,” he says, rubbing a hand over his face. “Yeah, okay,” he repeats, grabbing back the letter and putting on a bright smile like she doesn’t know exactly how to see through that, like she can’t see the way his thumb continues to worry at the edge of it. “So what was it you needed help with again?”
“Penguin sledding,” she says, abruptly changing the plan for the day and grinning at him when he blinks, nonplussed. “We need to pick out the best hills for the new season, for the little ones,” she says. “Make some maps, maybe, plan some routes, do some schedules.” All of his favorite things she can think of, to keep his mind off his worry.
--
“I don’t know,” Aang says apologetically as he and Sokka jump across a gap where the temple floor’s fallen away. Probably no one should stay in this hallway until they fix that… “I don’t think I’m hearing it.”
“No?” Sokka says, the syllable cracking with uncertainty.
“Tell me again, though,” Aang says quickly. “What did it say?”
Sokka huffs, a faint furrow between his brows as he digs out two pieces of paper, peeling the latest letter off the top. “He greets me,” he rattles off, eyes flicking over the page, Aang keeping half an eye on the placement of his feet since Sokka isn’t anymore, “He talks a bit about the canals, he mentions Yugoda, bending, bending, bending—”
“Oh?” Aang says, perking up. “Did he—”
“Stay focused,” Sokka orders, waving a hiding hand.
Aang sighs but obediently puts on his most attentive face.
“And then he says—” Sokka clears his throat, drawing himself up, so Aang makes sure he’s actually paying attention. “—that he had an interesting afternoon of discussions, that Sei Zun is missing his office, and that everything is going fine.”
Aang nods, projecting attentive with everything he has and freezing a little when Sokka just hits him with an expectant look.
“I mean,” Aang says slowly, scratching the back of his head. “It sounds like everything is going fine?”
“Fucking—” Sokka cuts off with an aggravated noise, throwing his hands up.
“I can write him myself for the bending stuff,” Aang blurts, scrambling for something to get the worried tightness off of Sokka’s face and wincing when Sokka just lets out another garbled noise because…yeah. That…probably wasn’t it.
--
“Run it back at me again, Loverboy,” Toph orders, flicking a little bit of stone toward the sound of Sokka’s feet when he makes a questioning little noise. “I can hear you worrying over there,” she says, giving an exasperated look in his general direction. “Get it out.”
He pauses, heartbeat a little too quick like it’s been all day, then, cautiously, “You already said it was nothing.”
“Maybe I was wrong,” she shrugs. Sokka is excitable and far more anxious than he tries to let on, but that excitableness has gotten them out of more than one bind.
“…Um,” he says after a moment, hair rustling as he scratches under his wolftail.
“I mean, I don’t think I am,” she allows, grinning when he snorts and making a kicking up her feet. “But maybe you explained it to my shitty.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he laughs, a good sound over the rustle of papers as he tugs out those letters again. “Okay,” he says, getting serious, her words as much on his heartbeat as his words as she tries to pick up on what exactly is worrying him about this, “So it starts with saying things are fine—” ba-DUMP. “—talks about training a bit with some of the staff fighters—” ba-dump. “—talks about a canal ride—” BA-dump, interesting. “—he had a formal dinner, the food was nice, sea prune stew reminded me of him.” Ba-dump, ba-dump, ba-dump, filling up his expectant silence as she plays back the words and weighs them and tries to pick them apart and…
“Yeah, Sokka,” she finally says, apologetic and wincing a little when he audibly slumps, heart dropping in a way she usually can’t literally sense. “I’m not hearing it.”
“You don’t—he doesn’t seem off to you?” Sokka presses, sounding like he isn’t sure whether to let the anxiety out or whether he wants to be assured.
“I mean, based on how you read it…” Toph shrugs. She always assumes Sokka puts the most dramatic read on anything that he’s able to, given the opportunity. He’s second only to Zuko, there.
“I just, I feel like I should go up there,” he says, weight shifting back and forth and back and forth.
“Do you think,” she says carefully, “That that might muddy the waters for him?” She flicks a pebble back and forth across the ground when he stays conspicuously silent. “He’s trying to build his own relationships, Sokka. Right?”
“Yeah,” he acknowledges, reluctant, beads rattling softly as he shakes his head. “I just—I just don’t think he’s okay.”
“He said he’s fine, like, multiple times in each letter.”
“Yeah,” he says again after a beat, sounding doubtful, and Toph nods, slow and serious and silently tossing aside every loose plan they had for the day. They don’t need to be talking to officials and discussing infrastructure projects when he’s in a mood like this, she decides. They need to be riding Omashu’s mail carts.
--
“And none of these are horny?” Mai checks again as she takes the offered stack of letters.
“No,” Sokka says again, openly fretting, not even exasperated, so Mai shrugs and quickly skims through the stack. She keeps her face still, her movements measured as she sips her sweet waterorange juice, her eyes skipping over bland descriptions, over details of Zuko’s day that are all about what Zuko did—
“Oh,” Mai says.
“Yeah?” Sokka pauses in his pacing, something half hopeful and half nervous on his face.
—over talk of other people and none of himself—
“Oh yeah,” Mai repeats, setting down her juice.
“Right?”
—and fine, fine, fine repeated over and over again.
“Yeah, this is not good,” Mai agrees.
“Thank you.”
“Wow,” she says, going back over that last letter again and lingering over the careful curve of Zuko’s characters. “He’s about to lose his shit.”
“Okay, yes.”
She flicks him a flat stare, incredulous. “Why are you still here?”
“He’s supposed to be building relationships with the Northern Water Tribe on his own,” Sokka says, shoving both hands through his hair and looking like he has to physically stop himself from tearing I out. “And everyone is saying I’m going to get in the way, and I don’t want to mess it up for him but I also don’t want it to be harder than it has to be, and he’s not okay I don’t care what everyone—bird."
Mai instinctively ducks beneath the table, watching from safety as a messenger hawk dives down to smack Sokka square in the back, the pair of them screaming and squawking and flailing in a mess of limbs and wings until the hawk finally manages to dump its scroll case and take off, disgruntled, leaving Sokka mussed and breathing heavily in its wake.
Mai cautiously slides back into her chair, Sokka’s eyes wide and flicking around the sky as she waits as long as she can before huffing pointed.
“Well,” she demands, flicking the scroll an expectant look. “What does it say?” Because she knows one of Azula’s overdramatic, overly trained birds when she sees one, which only two people in the entire Fire Nation use, and that one clearly wasn’t for her.
Sokka scrambles into motion, fumbling the scroll case opening, hands hasty and quick and—“Fuck.”
Mai straightens, snatching the scrap of paper out of the air when Sokka suddenly tosses it at her and takes off, staring after him a moment before carefully flattening it out along with the others he left her, knowing he’ll want them all back, and raising her eyebrows when she sees one firmly scrawled line in Zuko’s distinctly overly formal hand:
            Please come get me
“Well,” Mai purses her lips, wondering how exactly Sokka’s going to get himself there. “Fuck.”
--
Sokka leaps out of the newly streamlined transit balloon he’s been designing as soon as its close enough to the ground for him to not fuck up his knee with the landing, shouting a thanks over his shoulder and dashing over the freshly constructed landing pads, calling hellos in response to the startled exclamations he gets and scanning across the promenade for—
“Zuko!” he cries as he catches sight of that breadth of shoulders he’d recognize anywhere, that politely attentive angle of his head, the deep maroon of his robes standing out against the snow and in the cluster of periwinkle blue around him.
Zuko pivots toward him, face momentarily open, surprised and startled and relieved. “Sokka!” he calls back, immediately ignoring the others, hurrying forward, not exactly funning but intent, focused, determined, sweeping Sokka into his arms the second he’s close enough, leaning into him as Sokka leans back, sighing in relief to be surrounded by his warmth, to feel him solid and heavy against him and so, so beloved.
“Hey, love,” Sokka whispers, ignoring the uncertain crowd around them and mouthing a silent thank you when Poak catches his eye before waving everyone else back to give them space.
“Hey,” Zuko says into his shoulder, shaky, laughing a little and clutching Sokka even tighter.
“I missed you,” Sokka says, clearing his throat and feeling his eyes stinging as he presses his smile against Zuko’s hair.
“Mhm.” Zuko pushes harder into Sokka’s chest.
“I decided I couldn’t wait to see you again,” Sokka murmurs, running a hand up Zuko’s back, something in him unwinding as he feels the familiar lines of Zuko's back moving as Zuko laughs again, wet. “So I figured hey, why not take a little trip.”
“Is that your new experimental design?” Zuko asks, shifting just enough to glance over Sokka’s shoulder. “It didn’t drop you out of the air.”
“Nope,” Sokka grins, sinking his fingers into Zuko’s hair. “It did not.”
Zuko hums, turning into his neck. “I missed you,” he whispers, heartfelt.
“Yeah,” Sokka says, the words coming out thick as he pulls Zuko more firmly against him. “Me too, buddy.”
Zuko sighs, relaxing into him inch by inch, the two of them just breathing together, even and slowly falling into sync.
“I am going,” Zuko finally says, tone nearly abstract, distant, “To punch him in the fucking face.”
Sokka blinks a little. Wha—
“If I have to see one more smug look—”
“Ah,” Sokka says, realizing.
“—or listen to one more fucking sour, pretend offhand comment—”
“Right,” Sokka says, smoothing a hand down Zuko’s back and glancing around, making sure Pakku isn’t actually in Zuko’s line of sight right now.
“You would not believe—”
“Oh, I would,” Sokka says, with feeling. The meetings he's been in with that man...
“That man,” Zuko hisses, literally steaming with the force of his anger.
“Yup,” Sokka agrees, giving him a solid pat. Sokka knows exactly how he feels.
“If Katara gets to lay him out—”
“Katara isn’t the Fire Lord,” Sokka quickly points out. And Pakku is, for better or worse, enough of an ass not to want anyone to know he got decked by a girl.
“I’ll fucking give it up for the chance to—”
“Okay, okay,” Sokka says, giving Zuko another firm pat and glancing around for some redirection. Lighting things on fire should probably be out, Sokka didn’t bring his sword—“Want to go find a big stick?”
Zuko is still a moment, then pulls back just enough to peak at him, gold eye half-narrowed and suspicious.
“I can throw some snowballs,” Sokka offers, inviting. “You can smack them.” Zuko hesitates, openly considering, so Sokka adds, "They explode."
“Okay let’s go,” Zuko says almost before he gets the words out, grabbing his hand and interlacing their fingers together as he hauls Sokka off and away from the confused clump of Northerners, Sokka tossing a wave over his shoulder and an apologetic shrug, happy to let himself be pulled along—at least until Zuko pauses at the first intersection, uncertain, and Sokka can take over.

I cannot for the life of me find the post that inspired this 😥
After much debate and none to few threats to his council Zuko threw open the doors to the vaults and hunted down every prize brought back to his forefathers as trinkets of conquest.
Jewels and swords and gold, the accountants and historians spent days identifying items that had sat forgotten in the dust and the dark for nearly a century. Piece after piece was meticulously researched and documented over the next weeks and months as each one found their way home.
It was the right thing to do after all, right?
To apologize, right his father's wrongs and build faith in the new brow that bore the crown.
It was a task he was proud to take on until they found it, nearly forgotten at the bottom of a chest, that dusty glint they almost missed. That small unassuming knife is what broke him. A strange curved blade set in bone carved with the moon set amongst the waves, if anyone would know it would be the ambassador.
Bursting through her door nearly breathless he set it in her hands. Eyes wide her fingertips brushed along the worn bone settling into the grooves as if they were made for her. The ulu fit in her palm melting into the shape of her grip. Then the tears began to fall and with it came the weight of the sins of the father's before him.
He could do nothing but hold her as she wept for those that were taken from her and those she would never meet, the parts of her she would never know. The sins of the father could not be undone but like that blade forged in fires neither of them would ever know, he could forge a promise that this would never happen again, that he would breathe his last breath before he ever committed the same sins as his forefathers.

REQUESTS ARE OPEN !!!!! okay this has been a long time coming for me but would you be open to doing a general iroh and kya’s daughter wedding piece ? i feel like that’s the only part of their relationship we haven’t seen !
a/n: was so excited to get this request bc i love these two so much!!!
~ based off of these headcanons ~
Tumblr media
“You look beautiful.”
“I think I’m going to puke,” you utter with a nervous laugh, anxiously fidgeting with the ceremonial pins in your hair that you just can’t seem to get straight.
Sighing, Kya carefully pushes your hands away before adjusting the pins herself. The golden ornate pieces had been a gift from Zuko, said to have belonged to his late wife and worn on their own wedding day, and though you were grateful for the thoughtful gift you also felt that an immense amount of pressure came with them. Marrying Iroh meant you’d officially be part of the royal family now, and a part of you was worried you wouldn’t be able to live up to the expectations that came with that.
“It’s normal to be nervous,” your mother consoles, stepping back to admire her work once the pins are set. “Today is an important day and the start of another adventure for you, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.”
“I don’t feel like a real bride,” you admit in an almost defeated tone. You stare at your reflection in the mirror and find yourself carefully brushing your fingers against the crescent moon hanging from your neck. The coolness of the stone against your fingertips brings a sense of comfort to you, but it doesn’t relieve you of your nerves.
“Are you having second thoughts?” Kya asks with a worried furrow of her brows.
“Of course not!” You’re quick to interject. “I love Iroh, I can’t imagine a life without him anymore.”
“But?” Your mother prods.
“But… What if I’m not good at being a wife? What if I’m just not… not good at all. He’s the General and the son of the Fire Lord. What can I give him that he doesn’t already have or that he couldn’t get from a Fire Nation woman here?”
Smiling faintly, Kya gently takes your hands in her own and gives them a comforting squeeze. “That boy loves you more than you could ever know. I see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice when he speaks about you. I wouldn’t have given him my blessing if I wasn’t one hundred percent sure of this. Don’t compare yourself or waste your time wondering about all the what ifs. All you have to do today is focus on Iroh, and everything else will take care of itself.”
You let out a shaky breath and blink back your tears before throwing your arms around your mother in a tight hug. You know she speaks the truth, and her comforting words greatly ease your anxiety. You’d fallen in love with the boy from your childhood, and he’d fallen just as hard for you if not harder. Despite being apart for so many years you’d found your way back to each other and helped one another find the missing piece in your lives. You and Iroh are simply meant to be, and your wedding will be proof that.
A gentle knock on the door has you parting from your mother, and as Bumi sticks his head in the doorway you smile.
“It’s almost time, kiddo,” he says with a grin. “The general’s going to get his socks knocked off when he sees you.”
“Thank you, Uncle Bumi,” you laugh tearfully before allowing him to hug you tight. You don’t know this, but Bumi has always felt a sort of paternal love for you. He was the closest thing you had to a father growing up and you were the closest thing he had to a child, and like your mother he felt so much pride and love at seeing you so happy. He knew you were in good hands, and that was more than enough for him.
“Are you ready?” Kya asks with an encouraging smile. Sucking in one final nervous breath, you nod before taking her arm and beginning your walk to the palace gardens.
In the courtyard a handful of chairs are set up for your intimate ceremony. Only close friends and family are invited, neither you nor Iroh wanted to make a grand spectacle of your marriage, so you decided to hold your wedding in the gardens with his mother Izumi as your officiant.
At the end of the makeshift isle, Iroh stands in his uniform with a fire lily delicately pinned to his lapel. He shifts anxiously from one foot to the other eagerly awaiting for your arrival. He’s been looking forward to this day ever since he proposed to you, and he can’t wait to finally make you his wife after all this time.
“You make a handsome husband, son,” Izumi compliments from her place beside him. “It brings me great joy to see you so happy.”
“Thank you for agreeing to officiate the wedding, mother,” Iroh expresses gratefully.
“I knew it was a matter of time before you two fell in love,” she notes with a careful smile. “I know she’ll make a wonderful wife.”
Beaming with pride, Iroh’s gaze falls upon the garden gates where you finally emerge. Arm linked with Kya’s and with a bouquet of flowers in the other hand, you make the most radiant bride Iroh has ever seen. Your gown flows elegantly behind you as you walk, your hair sparkles from the sunlight hitting the pins, and your smile is enough to take his breath away. He can feel himself beginning to tear up, and it takes everything in him not to rush towards you and take you in his arms himself.
Kya hugs you tight once you reach the end of the isle, doing her best to keep her tears at bay before letting you go. Carefully tucking a stray strand of hair away from your face, she smiles before handing you off to Iroh.
“Take good care of my daughter,” she whispers before chastely kissing his cheek.
The butterflies in your stomach are quieted when you finally reach Iroh. Nothing else but him matters in that moment, and as his golden irises stare into your own you find yourself falling in love all over again.
“You look so beautiful,” he whispers with a tearful laugh.
“So do you,” you smile, carefully wiping your tears so as to not ruin your makeup.
Your ceremony goes without a hitch, and when Izumi officially proclaims you as husband and wife Iroh gracefully dips you before giving you the most passionate kiss you’ve ever experienced. Your family and friends cheer and applaud, but it all fades into the background as you grip his sleeves and melt into his touch.
“I can’t wait to spend forever with you,” he professes earnestly after parting from your kiss.
“Forever and always,” you agree breathlessly before pulling him down by his collar for another kiss.

When Sun and Moon meet - S2
Tumblr media
Zuko x Fem!WaterBender!Reader Enemies to Lovers
As one of the Princesses of the Northern Water tribe, you were blessed with a gift by the moon. However you were permitted to be allowed to use the gift at all costs. From many hidden waterbending usages, the aftermath of the avatar visiting the Northern Tribe had led to your beginning journey, hiding yourself as a water bender as a princess from the Northern water tribe

Tumblr media
I stare at the moon and stars, laying against the grassy land with the Buffalo Yak next to me. We decided to take a break, I didn't want to tire out my only transportation. I didn't feel that tired, I decided maybe looking at the night sky would put me to slumber against my sleeping bag but that clearly didn't do. “I might as well use the time I have” I mutter under my breath and lift myself up. I attempted to try some water bending moves to strengthen my water bending however I haven't succeeded most of the moves. “Ugh this sucks!” I yell at the water causing it to rain. “Just my luck” I said annoyed. “It seems like your waterbending abilities have a high range.” I turned around to see who said that. It was some lady, she looked like she was in her 40s or so. “Who are you?” “Oh just some lonely water bender.” “Did you come from the northern tribes?” “Yes indeed I did, Princess Y/N” She smiled. “Then what was the need to come here? Late at night?” I questioned suspiciously. “Relax princess, I like to look at the night sky here, it's the best view isn't it?” She asked, I slowly let my guard down. “It is,” I sigh. “I have heard that your sister turned into the moon spirit” “You’re correct” The silence lasted longer than I had wanted. “Did you run away because you were tired of the stupid rules?” I broke the silence. “Every woman who is a waterbender who is not in the northern tribes clearly ran away.” We both laugh softly. “I know someone who is a waterbender from the southern tribes,” I said. “Because of her, the Northern water tribe allowed girls to waterbend,” I continued. “That's believable” The woman shrugged. “I believe I never got your name” I asked, turning to her. “Sakari,” She said simply. “I'm married to an earthbender with 2 kids”. I gasped in shock. “What? you're surprised that i'm a married woman” She chuckled as I shook my head “No, I just never heard of anyone getting married without being arranged.” Sakari furrowed her brows “Oh you poor princess” We both chuckle at that statement. “All right, I like you now. Pack up your stuff you're sleeping at my house tonight” Sakari got up. My eyes widened. “Me?” I pointed at myself and she stared at me, giving an ‘are you serious’ look on her face. “Right…” Y/N you couldn't possibly be even more stupider. “How come you want me- wait no. How come you trust me enough to come to your house?” I gathered my stuff from the floor, which wasn't much. “Like you have much experience with waterbending, besides I can't leave a princess in the cold like that” “It's not that cold” “Then stay outside” “No! Sorry im coming” I hurried to catch up to her, tugging on the Buffalo Yak.
  ҉   ☾
Once I saw her house from outside, it looked very homely. “Put your animal in the shed over there”. I complied and moved the Yak under the shed. “I'll see you later buddy”. We walked in and It looked just as cozy from the inside. “The kids are asleep, if they’re snoring it's not my issue” Sakari said which made me laugh. On the walls they have many family portraits, I could tell that the kids look exactly like her. I smile thinking about my own family, slowly realizing I have 2 missing people in it. “Losing someone isn't easy, I know” Sakari spoke up which caught me out of zoning out. “I'm just not used to it…my mind keeps wandering back to the worser days”. I sighed deeply. “You will get better” Sakari reassured me “Let's get you to your room shall I” she pushed me towards my room.
  ҉   ☾
I stare at the ceiling blankly. I wonder how everyone is at the Northern Water Tribe. Probably better because of Katara. I can't do anything right can I? In the end I'm still as selfish as before, using people for my own benefit. I groaned into my pillow, I really need to fall asleep by now, for tomorrow. Then an idea popped up in my head. What if…Sakari helped me with waterbending. I'm not the best at waterbending so using her help would benefit me. I slightly kick my legs in excitement and use that as motivation to fall asleep.
Tumblr media
“I'm sorry Kiddo I'm not sure if I could help you there,” Sakari said uncertainly. My mouth agape “But I need someone to help me waterbend!” I begged.
“Get a waterbending master”
“I ran away before asking for more help”
“Oh…Right”
I sighed deeply “The only help that I got was from the moon spirit, otherwise now I'm stuck” I attempted to guilt trip Sakari, hoping she would give in. “Fine!” She yelled, “I'll teach you all I know”. My eyes widened in joy “Thank you so much! Thank you, thank you!” I repeated in gratefulness. “But!” Sakari put her hand in front of me. “I won't go easy on you” She warned as I nodded.
  ҉   ☾
“You’re not doing this right,” Sakari yelled, which made me grow frustrated. “Ugh!” I threw the water aggressively. Just as I hit my limit, rain started to hit. “Why is it raining?” I scream in anger. “Y/N you have trouble controlling your emotions which leads to your waterbending to react just like you do. You have set the clouds to rain again.” Sakari explained. “How come I never heard of this ‘cloud bending’?” I mocked. “You have higher range than other water benders. I have been realizing that this happens to you when the clouds are low enough. This is beneficial but much more difficult to control.” Sakari moves closer and grabs my wrist. “You have to be calm, one with the water.” She motions my wrists to the feeling of water. “How am I supposed to be calm in this kind of situation?” “Deep breaths…”
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, listening to what I was told. I went to move the water smoothly and not aggressively as I thought I should. “You see Y/N, You did it” Sakari said. I opened my eyes to see the water molding in my favor. “I guess I am doing it” I sigh in relief.
Tumblr media
“You can't bring your animal to Ba Sing Se”. I turned my head around confused. “Why not?” “They’re strict” “But im a princess” “There it is, your spoiled mindset” She sighed disappointingly I roll my eyes at her comment. “I could pretend I'm injured, give me some bandages” I said, urging her to get bandages but to no avail. She looked at me deadpanned. “Oh…May I please have some bandages.” I sheepishly said and she nodded. “You really need to grow out of that attitude princess Y/N” Sakari said, giving me the bandages. “Sorry, bad habit” I shrug. “I'll come see you once I have time, which will be a lot” I smiled, getting on my Yak. “Can't wait,” Sakari said sarcastically, which made us both laugh. “Well, this is goodbye for now” I looked down. “Stop with the sappy comments, you're gonna come back” Sakari slapped my back teasingly. “You’re right, well see you!” The buffalo yak started moving as I waved.
“Good luck!” Sakari called out. “Thank you!”

Accursed Crown
Child soldier program within the Fire Nation. Princess Ursa will be having the first grandchild of fire lord Azulon, and as a gift, he sends his son, prince Ozai, to find an appropriate bodyguard for the mother of the nation.
After prince Zuko was born, princess Ursa became pregnant once more.
When she gave birth to her second. Not only did she suffer from a burn from the newborn, she didn't feel the motherly love she felt for her firstborn to her second. She couldn't hold her or even look at her. But she's not a cruel woman, so she found a wet nurse and let the other woman raise her. Well, that was the plan until for a whole day straight the baby girl wouldn't and couldn't stop crying. Even Ozai heard it and came to yell at Ursa for failing as a mother.
When the child had finally shutten up, Ozai turned to see the young guard gently holding the baby.
From that day onward, you, who was nothing but a child soldier, became the guard, the nursemaid, and mentor for the new princess.
NOT for the faint of heart!!!
Chapter 1: Prologue
Chapter 3: Her Touch
Chapter 2: Old Child
Princess Ursa is close to her due date. Her stomach and breasts have noticeably grown, her body preparing for the nurture of a child.
You stand beside her, from when she wakes up to when she goes to sleep. You are the first and last thing that her eyes have laid on for the past eight months.
She has grown an appreciation towards you, while no one’s there to support her, you’re always right beside her. Your eyes never leaving and your presence never fading. You have become her source of comfort.
Not even her supposed husband is present throughout her pregnancy. Other than the fleeting greeting they exchange, their interactions stayed minimal.
With your hands folded behind you, you stand on guard by a tree as your lady goes on her daily stroll. The royal garden was an arrangement on itself, countless numbers of plants and florals decorated the land. Each bush and patch neatly color coordinated, arranged into a certain pattern which one could only see from the tallest tower of the palace.
You feel someone staring at you, lifting your head just a bit, you catch the gold of the princess’s eyes. Your brows furrowed a bit before looking back down.
When you first caught her staring, you assumed that she was studying you, for the first couple of days that was what you thought. But as days went by, the time she would stare at you increased.
You see a flutter of red silk in the corner of your eyes. As she draws closer, you notice the pained expression on her face.
Before you could say anything, you see the bottom half of her robe dampening. Her legs give out but just as she was about to fall, you catch her.
Realization sets in, she was about to give birth.
You know you wouldn’t be able to carry her all the way back to her chambers, so once you guided her towards the tree to rest by, you planned to go fetch someone.
But just as you were about to run for help, you were held back by the princess. “Please… don’t leave me.” Her voice was barely above a whisper. The tears in her eye threatened to fall as she looked up at you with fear.
Taking a deep breath, you shoot a blast of fire into the air. With that, at least one of the royal guards would be able to come to your aid.
The grip on your hand was still present.
Kneeling beside her, you place your free, warm, hand on hers.
Just as you sat down, you were quick to be wrapped in a pair of arms. Her head rested between the junction between your neck and shoulder. Her breathing was ragged as you finally felt her tears fall on what little exposed skin that you had.
She held you tight as if you were a lifeline.
Unbeknownst to you, you were.
Ever since you came into her life, her loneliness subsided.
She could count on one hand the number of good or pleasant things her husband has given to her. And one of those very few things, were you.
Not once has she seen that man during her labor. Only after did he came in to see her child. And even then, she had to plead for him not to throw her newborn, the child she went through all that pain and suffering for, out of the palace.
But, since the moment her water broke, it was you who was there for her. It was you, poor little you, who stood in the shadow of the absent husband.
Your tiny hands, marred with scars and burns too much for even an adult, held hers. Young raspy voice giving her support and guidance without even knowing what exactly to do.
After what felt like an eternity of pain and agony, finally, release came.
And as a reward, it was you who held the newborn and handed him to his mother. For once in a long time, she felt true happiness. Finally, her own little family was created.
Her, her son… and you.
You were no fan of children, especially newborns.
As you stared down at the new prince, who peacefully slept in your arms, you couldn’t help but think that the pink, wiggling, babbling creature looked like a maggot… with hair.
It was hard to believe that you, along with everyone who you have ever met, was this small.
Sighing, you look away from the baby to look for the princess. She handed you the prince, Zuko, and went to fetch something. As you were looking around for the lady, the child in your arm began to wail. Screaming and thrashing like the worm that he looked like.
You clench your jaw.
Your job is to guard the princess, not babysit. You were trained to kill, attack, defend, and plan. Not comfort a child or feed it.
The baby managed to wiggle his hands out from his swaddle and with surprisingly good motor control, he tightly grasped onto the only thing that his tiny digits could reach, your hair, and pulled.
You held your breath as you felt each individual strand of hair being pulled out of their follicles.
The scene that welcomed princess Ursa back was almost comedic.
You, who usually have a stoic, almost bored expression, was now red in the face, the veins on your forehead visible as you had your eyes tightly shut, still holding the baby boy who had both of his hands full of ripped out hair and still crying.
Letting out a giggle, Ursa walked towards the two of you before you could suffer from any more damage. She walked behind you and released what she went out to retrieve, it was a golden hair ribbon. Cooing at her child, she combed through your hair with her fingers before tying your hair up.
She didn’t move from her spot behind you, her hands now rested on your shoulders. Her thumbs rubbing circles on your back as she hums her tune.
It was a comfortable, peaceful little moment, to her.
You in response, straighten your back as her hands work longer in working out your shoulders. The massage was a nice gesture but the longer she kept in contact with you, the heavier your innards felt.
You were now taking longer, deeper breaths through your mouth. Your lips began to dry out as you felt the tension now on your neck.
You were unsure what was happening to your body. Were you coming down with something? Why has it suddenly become hard to breathe? Why are your eyes unfocused? Why do you feel nauseous?
The baby’s sudden cries startled both you and Ursa. Snapping you out of your panic, you released the tight grip on the child’s arm.
Ursa takes the young prince from your hands and begins to sooth him. Rocking him gently side to side, she walks around.
You look at your hand, clenching it a couple times, testing it for… something. You couldn’t explain the rapid heart beat or the overly sweaty palms you now had.
Covering your mouth with your hand, you try to forcefully regulate your breathing. The greedy breaths you were taking were now covered, forcing you to take small, controlled breaths through the small gaps between your fingers.
You felt filthy, like you were covered in sweat after a long day of training. You could still feel where and how she touched you. The lingering, ghostly pressure running over your skin.
Swallowing, you lowered your arm. Staring at the back of the princess as she tended to her child.
You should not be thinking such things. It is a privilege to be in such close proximity to any of the royal family, even more so if they look at you favourably. You should cherish every moment you spend with her like a blessing from the heavens.
You bit the inside of your cheek.
Rather than feeling grateful for the privilege and luxury the royal family has provided you, here you are complaining and have the gall to feel disgusted. You should be happy the princess is paying even half as much attention and care to someone as lowly as you. You should be jumping for joy every time she reaches out to gift you her warmth. Every interaction you have is a good one.
You swallow once more.
It tasted bitter.

And just like that, she’d fallen for him.
Spring. Summer. Autumn. The world had its cycles. There had been peace before war, and peace would come after bloodsheds and battles.
Katara looks at Zuko, at how he stares out to the width in the horizons. The curves of his nose and lips are soft, much like the colors of the leaves around them. The lines of his jaw and cheeks are sharp, in contrast.
He’s a beautiful man; she’s always thought so, even when they were enemies and he’d sworn he’d kill them. She likes it better this way, though— being friends, confidants, long-time companions. Kindness suits him more, either way. She likes how his face looks when he’s calm, — when there’s no rage to contort his scar, no scowl furrowing his brow.
She also likes that he knows her. That they can stand, silence pending between them, and it’s never too tense or uncomfortable. Zuko is just that good to her. He never puts too much pressure on her shoulders, — she’s had enough of that already. Instead, he soothes the rough edges. Lets her make her own choices and never judges her for them.
He looks back at her. An easy smile grazes his features; baffling, tortuous, beautiful. Katara has to fight the urge to freeze some water from her bottle and smash it across her searing face.
“Do you wanna…”, his voice cuts through the wind, raspy as it ever was. When he talks, it’s evident that he’s nervous. That he’s been circling around his thoughts and can’t seem to find the words. “I mean…”, he tries again. “Do you wanna stay here until you decide what to do?”
She hums, then turns her gaze back to the gardens. Aang had asked her to travel the world along with him, — to be by his side and help other people, from other nations and villages. She had yet to give him a proper answer.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to— go on missions, hear the masses’ suffering and be present in whatever way she could. Maybe, it was that she simply had pictured something different for herself. She could be so much more than just the “Avatar’s girl”! She could go home, lend a useful hand to Sokka and her dad advocating for their tribe. She could be an ambassador.
She could be with Zuko.
She can imagine the whole thing all too well, actually, — being on the palace, with him, until she could confront Aang about what to do. They could go for an evening stroll, feed turtleducks by the lake. Zuko’d make tea way past dinner time, and she’d laugh along with Suki when he’d burn his tongue by the first sip.
“There’s nothing I’d like more.”, she tells him, then. They are in one of the many balconies, staring out at the sun. The last scraps of summer have flushed with the breeze, and now the trees look all kinds of reds, yellows, oranges. Almost like they’ve caught on fire.
Zuko smiles at her again. A shy, wonderful thing that makes his eyes glint. His hair’s shaggy and overgrown, and falls limp between the honey of his irises. His cheeks burn a bright pink that, Katara deduces, might be from the gentle light warming up their faces.
“Okay.”, he says. He likes this, as well, — having her around. That he can open up to someone he can share his scars with, both the physical and the ones that lay underneath.
Katara inches close to him, just enough so that their elbows nudge together. The world has its cycles, she believes. Blue skies bleed into the darkness of the night. Ice defrosts when heated-up. And just like that, she’d fall for Zuko— delicate, and raw, and over and over. Helpless, like the moon that carries down the tides. Hopeless, like the autumn leaves that fall, ever so slow, and now gather at their feet like sea-foam.
“Okay.”

The way that Sokka realised that he was in love with Zuko was during fire nation spring. It was Zuko’s free day and he immediately pulled Sokka out of bed and told him to walk with him. Naturally they find themselves at the turtleduck pond and are leaning against a tree. They’re talking when suddenly Zuko looks really upset, and tells Sokka that he forgot to bring bread for the turtleducks. Sokka just gives him a smile and reaches into his pocket, pulling out a bag of bread and giving it to a very (pleasantly) surprised Zuko. He immediately rushes over to the pond and squats down to feed the ducks. They all crowd around him and nip at his fingers and even claw at his robes but Zuko’s never looked more carefree. It hits Sokka when he’s watching Zuko with a soft smile, and he all but feels his heart clench when Zuko whips his head around suddenly— wind blown and flushed and a huge smile, eyes crinkled and brow upturned. And that, is the moment when Sokka’s brain is filled with one thought, ‘I’m so in love with him.’

🐉 part 9
part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6 part 7 part 8
TW: Blood,
Tumblr media
You watched as carriages were filled with chests of different sizes,"Everything is nearly ready" Zuko said from behind you, he was dressed in casual clothes, something which you hadn't seen him in for a while,"Nervous?", he chuckled and nodded,"We are getting married so yeah and it's only our first ceremony as well" you smiled and walked towards him,"Thank you for agreeing to do this" you smiled placing your head on his chest, Zuko wrapped his arms around you and kissed the top of your head,"It's part of your culture, I don't want you to lose that part of you just because you are marrying into mine" he said,"Will you be taking Haku or taking the boat with us?" he asked after a while,"I be taking the boat, Haku will be flying alongside us" you said pulling away from him,"You also be delighted to hear, that plan for a dragon pit is set in motion" your eyes lit up at the comment,"A couple of fire nation architecture's and builder will join us so they can inscept the pit themselves" you smiled widely and hugged Zuko again,"Thank you again" you smiled and kissed his cheek.
Haku was flying in the air peacefully, Zuko looked up at him before looking at the red egg still unhatched, he sighed and closed the lid of the stone container,"It will hatch don't worry" you smiled rubbing his back,"Teach me Valyrian" he said making you lift a brow,"You want to learn Valyrian" you said happily,"Yes, it's beautiful, mostly when you speak it" he said making your cheeks darken slightly,"Nyke krenyikhé bodmagho ao ñuha jorrāelagon " Zuko cocked his head making you giggle,"I gladly teach you my love" you said making him smile, he kissed your forehead when a servant approached them,"My Lord we be arriving soon" he said with a bow, Zuko nodded his head,"Let the others know as well, thank you" he said making the servant leave,"By Sun set tomorrow we be married in the tradition of old Valyria" you said holding his hands,"I can't wait"
"Wow, it's so cool looking" Kiyi said holding Ursa hand, who finally let her mother be close to her again,"It is quite impressive" she agreed,"Look at the dragons" Kiyi said pointing towards a small dragon flying behind it's mother,"Can I have it?" she asked excitedly but Ursa shook her head," Y/N, where do the dragons live?" Noren asked,"Those two are wild dragons so they live in the dragon mount a bit further from the castle, dragons like Haku live in the dragon pit" you explained,"There aren't many dragon's here, including the wild ones I say we have 11-13"," That seems like quite a lot," he said,"It's nothing to the glory of old Valyria," your Uncle said making you shiver,"Dragons roamed the skies like birds did, every child of dragon rider families received an egg at birth which always hatched, now they mostly suit for decorations," he said, "Uncle how glad I am that you are welcoming us," you said as you saw your Uncle,"I'm glad you found your dragon, your father is waiting for you all at the dining hall, your other friends are also waiting," he said, his eyes drifting towards your necklace, the gift he gave you, which you are still wearing, a small smirk played on his lips.
"Fireboy, good to see you again" Top said the second you all walked in, she punched Zuko in the arm making him wince slightly." Father" you smiled hugging your father, he kissed your forehead and squeezed your hand once the two of you parted from the hug,"It's been only 3 months but you have changed so much my sweet child, I missed you dearly," he said,"I missed you too, how are you doing?" he sighed,"as good as one can after losing part of your heart if it hadn't been for you and your sister, I be a dead man" you smiled sadly,"How is my sister doing?","she is a strong baby, just like you were when you were born and now you are getting married," he said his own purple eyes began to tear up but he quickly composed himself when Lord Coryls walked over,"Everything is ready for the dinner," he said,"Good to see you again Princess," he said with a small bow,"Good to see you too my Lord".
Dinner was quiet, you sat beside your father while Zuko sat next to you,"I'm curious what does your wedding tradition involve?" Aang asked breaking the silence," It's a union of blood and fire" your cousin said before biting into his duck again, "In old Valyria, blood magic is what made us dragon riders, not every family could do it, and the only ones who could, were made powerful" your father explained,"That's why we try to marry each other as often as possible, our blood is what makes us special" you said with a nod,"But now it's about to become diluted" your Uncle snarked making you sigh and your father rolls his eyes,"It will strengthen our bloodline, and we made a pact, your firstborn children will be wedded together" he reminded, making you sigh,"Has your egg hatched yet?" your Uncle asked turning to Zuko," No, it hasn't" Zuko said,"If it that isn't a sign" he hummed,"Your dragon wasn't born to you either Uncle, you claimed him when you were 12" you said making his smirk drop,"But still I got one dear niece" he said before getting up,"Where you going?" his wife Laena asked,"I have some business to attend to" he said kissing her temple,"Well this got awkward fast" Sooka said to Suki and Toph,"I love this family" Toph added making Sooka smile and nod while Suko just rolled her eyes at them.
Zuko held the egg above the fire,"Come on hatch" he mumbled,"They are like babies, they will come when they feel like it" you said entering the room,"Don't worry, it will hatch eventually. I have a good feeling" you said sitting down beside him, Zuko sighed and placed the egg on his lap,"What if it doesn't?" you shrugged,"Than it doesn't, my father doesn't have a dragon he rules this place" you said making Zuko look up,"Wait what?","Soon after it hatched, it didn't get along with the other dragons in the pit" you said with a sad expression," He was given another egg but it never hatched and he was fine with it, cause he knows a dragon doesn't define his strengths as a leader or his place within the family" you continued,"So don't define yourself either, you be a great husband" you kissed his cheek," Zuko smiled and placed the egg back into it's container,"What did you bring?" he asked finally noticing the stash of cloth,"The wedding attire for tomorrow, be careful with it, they have been in the family for generations" you said making Zuko nod, Zuko inspected the outfit the shoulders were red like blood and it blended into the beige of the rest of the outfit, it was lined with golden embroidery,"Nervous?" Zuko asked making you nod,"Yes, but at least I got to know and got to love you before we get married, not many people in similar positions have that luxury,"My mother didn't" Zuko said with a nod,"I see you tomorrow.
Zuko was met by the Chief of the sun warriors, Zuko took a deep breath before approaching him,"You suit the traditional clothing well" he said looking down at Zuko, evidence of dislike was evident in his voice, and Zuko couldn't blame him. Even though Dragon's do still exist, his ancestors still hunted them down to near extinction. "Now follow me this ceremony has many steps," he said,"Some, you find them familiar enough as you did some of them with the Avatar", Zuko nodded as he followed, the path becoming familiar to him,"Take a piece of the eternal flame and bring it to your bride who is waiting for you by the Master's with a flame of her own" he said slamming the bottom of his staff into the ground, unlike last time it was only him and the Chief,"Is their reason for this tradition?" Zuko asked curiously," The Dragon's came to us because of them, they are the blood of the dragon, previously you brought the flame to your show commitment to fire bending, now by doing this you will show the same but for each other. The Princess without fire bending carried the flame before you came up to the master's without the use of her dragon, now you need to do the same".
The way up was more tiring than Zuko remembered maybe it's also the clothing which added to it, as they were slightly heavier than what he regularly wore. He examined the flame in hand just to make sure it was still the same size and not too small or too big. Soon enough he was where he met the Master's last time, it was as breathtaking as the last time. His friends and family were already there so were your family and the sun warriors."You made it, good" the Chief said,"She is waiting up there for you" he said moving sideways to reveal the stairs, sun warriors were standing on each step on both sides, more lined up in a circle around the base of the stairs, he looked up at you, a torch was in your hand which was burning with Zuko assumed with the eternal flame, beside you stood even more sun warriors. Zuko carefully made his way up,"I thought you got cold feet" you smiled shifting the torch slightly,"I'm here now. There are so many more Sun Warriors here now than last time I was in this position" he said nervously, you smiled,"It's not as different than what you did last time with Aang" you said trying to ease him. The Chief appeared behind Zuko slamming his staff into the ground and making it stick, both of you turned to the Chief to allow him to take pieces of the flames of you, he then handed the flames to the warriors around him. The warriors used those flames to create circles just like they did for Aang and Zuko before."What do we do with these now?" Zuko whispered, holding up his flame,"You will see" you said turning around and handing the torch to a Sun Warrior whose hands where free, Zuko turned around and saw another free warrior and did the same. The man gave him a glare but he held it anyway before he faced you again.
"Princess?" the chief said,"We are ready? Aren't we Zuko?", Zuko smiled and nodded."Chanters!" he hollowed making the sun warrior who weren't carrying flames begin chanting like last time, Zuko reached for you hand as the music continued the horn blared signalling Ran and Shaw to come out but it was a different horn from last time, soon blurs of red and blue swished around them before,"The horn is from old Valeryia, it was used for weddings. Dragon's were always present in weddings to approve their rider's partner and the other dragon. As a wedding between riders is not only to unite families but also dragons. But as we are only family alongside the velar yon it turned into just having Ran and Shaw in it as a reminder of the fall of our people" you explained to Zuko who seemed a bit nervous. Soon the two dragon's stopped flying and stood facing each other with the two of you in between. The chanting has stopped as well. Zuko quickly looked down at everyone, everyone who wasn't holding fire was kneeling. Zuko felt a hand on his shoulder it was the Chief, he handed Zuko a stone, it was nearly clear, the light of the flames and setting sun shined on it,"Let me do it first" you said gently grabbing the stone. Zuko nodded, slightly embarrassed, you slide the stone horizontally over you bottom lip making blood appear, you placed your thumb on the cut making the blood appear on your thumb, Zuko than realised what will happen next, he gave you a small nod, you smiled and smeared the blood between the space of his brows, you than handed Zuko the stone who did the same, he handed you the stone back, you than cut your palm open a small wince leaving your mouth, Zuko followed but he showed no signs of pain, you held out our hand zuko placed his bleeding hand on top of yours, the Chief wrapped a red cloth around your joined hands as he began speaking,"Hen lantoti ānogar (blood of two) Va sÿndroti vāedroma (joined as two)-" as he spoke a female sun warrior showed up with a golden cup in her hand, she held it under the cloth as your joined blood dripped down into it,(-Mēro perzot gīhoti (Ghostly flames) Elēdroma iārza sīr (and songs of shadows)-" the chief motioned to the sun warriors who where holding the torch and Zuko's flame, the woman moved the cup and handed it to chief,"Don't panic" you mouthed, Zuko nodded he was slightly confused why you were telling him not panic but he was soon answered as the warriors used the left over flames to set the cloth on fire, his skin began heat up but you seemed calm so he tried to keep the panic to himself,"- Izulī ampā perzī (two hearts as embers)-" the chief said handing you the cup of your blood, you brought it to your lips slowly taking a sip before handing it to Zuko, who slightly hesitated before doing the same,"-Prūmī lanti sēteksi (forged in fourteen fires) Hen jenÿ māzīlarion (a future promised in glass) Qēlossa ozūndesi (the stars stand witness) Sÿndroro ōńō jēdo (the vow spoken through time) Rÿ kīvia mazvestraksi (of darkness and light)" he finished removing the cloth from your hands.
You smiled and touched Zuko's face gently making him smile. Zuko's hand cupped the back of your head pulling you in for a kiss. The dragons huffed making Zuko pull away from you in concern,"Don't worry if they didn't like you, they would have killed you the first time" you joked making Zuko smile just as the two dragons flew back into their caves. He looked down at his hand, it wasn't burned but slightly red and it stung a bit. He looked at your hand but yours wasn't red nor did it seem to hurt. "Congrats Princess....and Fire Lord" the chief said.
The two of you walked down the stairs to your friends and family,"Congratulations guys, it was a beautiful ceremony, it was an honour to attend. How can you top this Zuko?" Katara said,"Probably not, Fire nation weddings aren't anything like this" he said wrapping his arm around your waist and bringing you closer,"Thank you for letting us be here, it's truly an honour to see how other nation's celebrate," Aang said," It was cool, a bit gross with all that blood but still cool" Sooka said making Suki and Katara nudge him," I'm not big on tradition but yours are cool" Top said with a big smile,"It was truly beautiful," Suki said,"So romantic" Ty Lee added. "Thank you for attending guys, it truly means a lot to me" Zuko said as your father pulled you aside.
"My beautiful daughter is now married" your father said cupping your cheek,"I remember the day you were born clearly, it was one of the happiest day's in my life, today is a day happiness and sorrow as I won't be able to see you as often now, as you are part of the fire nation now","I'm still your heir father, and I will do you proud" he smiled and kissed your cheek,"I know you will, I wish your mother could see you" he smiled sadly,"She is watching father, I know she is" you answered making smile at you. In the corner of your eye you could see your Uncle, he had his arms crossed and was leaning against the rock,"I wish you a Wonderfull marriage cousin" Laena said taking your hands,"Thank you, I hope my Uncle is kind to you" you said honestly," You know your Uncle, he loves me in his own unique way. Mostly now since I'm with child" your face light it,"Congratulations dear Cousin, I hope for the babe to be healthy and a strong dragon rider","Thank you, it means a lot. He already found an egg, it came from the clutch of your mother dragon. I hope it's okay?" you nodded,"Of course, we are family after all" you smiled at her, Laena silver curls slightly blew in the wind. Laena moved away when her father and brother walked over,"Congratulations Princess, I hope the marriage is what you wish it to be" Corly said,"Thank you my Lord","You know where home is cousin, in case you ever need it of course"his son said with a soft smile, even though the wedding between the two of you never happened it was still good to see that he was good with it and not petty.
Meanwhile, Zuko was talking to his own family,"You have grown a lot Zuko. You be a good husband I know you will" Iroh said patting Zuko's shoulder before pulling him in a hug, "Thank you for everything Uncle" Zuko said tears rolling down his cheek, "I'm proud to see the man you have become, I wouldn't change the journey we had for all the tea in the world" Iroh said. Zuko turns to his mother,"Thank you for letting me be part of this, I wasn't there for you at your lowest moments in the past but now I won't leave your side. I be there whenever you need me Zuko" Ursa said hugging Zuko tightly,"Thanks Mother"."Zuzu, the dragons were so cool" Kiyi said in Noren's arms, her eyes wide and filled with joy,"I'm glad you enjoyed it Kiyi" Zuko said pinching her cheeks gently making her giggle. Zuko looked up from his sister to Mai,"Congrats you are officially in chains" she said in her usual monotone voice,"No, I'm happy for you Zuko, Y/N is good for you" she said a soft smile appearing on her lips,"Thank you Mai, I hope you and Kei Lo happiness as well" Zuko smiled, Mai licked her lips and nodded,"So you ready to be a dad?" she said out of nowhere making Zuko,"What?","Come on Zuko, this only started because you need an heir and so is she, if you didn't need one you only be dating" Mai explained, Zuko sighed,"Yeah I guess I never really thought about it....It's probably in inappropriate time to ask but if we never broke up, would you see us being in this situation?","No, I don't like the idea of marriage or kids really...I guess we are destined not be a couple" she sighed,"And yes it's not a good idea to ask your ex at your wedding this question. Congrats again Zuko" she said as you approached again,"Let's head back to Dragonstone" you smiled kissing Zuko's cheek making him smile.
You and Zuko walked towards your shared bedroom, both nervous about what was to come. Once entered you noticed some small changes, the bedsheets went from a cream coloured cotton to a red silky sheet, more candles were brought in, thin curtains were placed around the bed,"Wow" you whispered turning to Zuko, your blood was still between his brows and vice versa,"Do you want to take a bath first? To get rid of the blood?" Zuko asked,"Yes, that be good. I call the maids".
The maids prepared a bath quickly, the tub was filled with steaming water to the brim, flower petals were floating on the top. I slowly turned around towards Zuko,"We can have separate baths-","No, it's fine, we are married now" he said playing with your outfit,"Take it off" you whispered,"What?","Undress me, Lord, husband" Zuko's cheek flushed, but he smirked,"Only if you the same Lady wife"

To Tell the Truth...
Sokka was against it from the beginning. As soon as they spotted the stall, Sokka tried to steer his friends away from it. Especially his sister. Specifically his sister.
"Come on," Katara insisted. "What harm could it do?"
"It's a waste of money!" Sokka threw his hands up in frustration. "It's going to be Aunt Wu all over again."
"Aunt Wu didn't charge," Katara said. "She was also right. And besides, this isn't that expensive. Especially not since Mr. Moneybags here gave us access to the coffers." Katara grinned at Zuko and nudged him in the ribs. He'd shown them where his father had kept a supply of money in his office at the Ember Island beach palace. A combination of spite and an eagerness to make his new friends happy led him to be very generous with it's use.
"We might need to save that for later," Sokka groaned. "And you say I'm impulsive."
"It's a copper piece for each fortune," Suki pointed out. "That wouldn't even dent our grocery budget."
"Well count me out," Sokka folded his arms and glare at the ground. "The last time I went to one of these crackpots, she said that I was going to be the cause of my own misery."
"And that was wrong because...?" Katara smirked at Sokka. He just glared back at her.
"I'm not going," he repeated.
"Fine," Katara shrugged. "So you can wait for the rest of us."
"I think I'll pass, too," Zuko said eyeing the dilapidated stall dubiously. "Someone needs to be outside in case this place collapses."
"Fine, spoilsport," Katara scoffed. "So that leaves me, Suki, Toph and Aang."
"Wrong, Sweetness," Toph said. "I'm just fine living in the present, thank you."
"I'm in!" Aang chirped. "I had fun the last time." Sokka snorted and rolled his eyes, but that seemed to be the end of his protests.
Aang went first rushing forward to hand the fortuneteller- an elderly man with yellowing eyes- his payment. He motioned Aang into the back of the stall wordlessly. The reading took less than five minutes, and when Aang reemerged, he looked uncharacteristically subdued.
"What happened?" Sokka asked. "What that guy say." Aang's eyes went wide for a moment and shot a sideways glance at Katara.
"Well, he...er...he said..." Aang stammered. "I mean, it was bunch of nonsense, anyway. I think you were right Sokka. That guy's a quack. Maybe we should just go."
"No way!" Suki said emphatically. "Who cares if he's not the real deal. It's all in good fun."
"Waste of money and time," Sokka grumbled. Suki and Katara exchanged looks and rolled their eyes. Suki took her turn next. She paid and followed the fortunteller into the back room.
"What did he tell you?" Katara asked Aang. "Was it really so bad?" Aang looked at her and his face went bright red.
"It's not that important," he said. "It's just...he...he said that... I need to grow up?" His friends blinked in surprise.
"That's all?" Toph snorted. "Of course you need to grow up. You're 12."
"Yep," Aang chuckled nervously. "Like I said...a quack." Toph raised her brow at him.
"What else did he say?" she asked. Aang swallowed hard and looked around at his friends nervously. His eyes landed on Katara and he immediately looked downward. He was spared from answering by the reappearance of Suki.
Where Aang had been troubled by his reading, Suki looked positively delighted. She didn't wait for her friends to ask.
"He said that I am going to be an international name," she told them. "That I'm about to have a very big success soon, and it will catapult me into fame."
"I didn't know that was something you were interested in," Sokka said. "But I'm not surprised."
"Don't you get it?" Suki asked. "What...big event do we have coming up very soon that we want to succeed in?"
"You know that guy is just trying to tell you what you want to hear, right?" Sokka rolled his eyes again. "He just said something vague and positive so you'd fill in the blanks with whatever you want it to mean."
"He didn't do that with Aang," Suki pointed out. "And even if he's not the real deal, isn't it nice to hear that we're going to have a win? Especially after that play?"
"Yeah," Sokka scoffed. "Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to hear some whack job predicting fame and fortune."
"He didn't say fortune," Suki said, shrugging.
Katara went last. She paid the fortuneteller and followed him into the backroom. It was as dark and stuffy as she anticipated, but the furnishings were much nicer than she expected. There were red and gold silk hangings all around the small space, making it feel even closer. A brass lamp hung overhead, the fire burning inside of it cast intricate, flickering shadows all around. The incense was just a touch too strong for such a small space, and it almost immediately made Katara dizzy. She sat at the low table on the surprisingly plush cushions while the fortuneteller settled in on the other side. The flickering lights made his already aged face look even more ancient. His eyes, dark and unnervingly still, fixed on her. His face remained expressionless, which unsettled Katara further.
"Um...d-do I ask you a question or-"
"You can," the fortuneteller said.
"Alright," Katara said. "Um...I guess...I want to know if me and my family will be okay."
"That's a broad question." The fortuneteller's mouth hardly seemed to move as he spoke. It was a trick of the dim light, Katara decided firmly.
"It's the one I want answered," Katara said. The man's face didn't change, but suddenly he seemed amused.
"I suppose that's not completely a lie," he said. Katara was taken aback at that. She didn't have time to respond. "Your family will be fine for the most part. There will be a lot of things to mend and rebuild in your near future, but the ones closest to you will be there to help."
Katara breathed a sigh of relief, even as her brother's assertions of fraud echoed in her mind. It was comforting to hear from the fortuneteller, regardless. She thought that was the end. She started to stand up when the fortuneteller's hand shot out and grabbed her wrist.
"What are you-"
"I have one more word of caution and a gift for you," the fortuneteller said. "First, the caution. You are very dishonest, Katara."
"How did you know my name?" she demanded. The fortuneteller went on as if he hadn't heard her.
"You use dishonesty to protect the people around you. You lie to yourself, too, and it will only lead to future heartbreak for you and those who rely on you. And now, a gift. Until the sun rises again, it is yours."
"What?" Katara stared at him. "What gift? What are you talking about? How did you know my name?" The fortuneteller sat placidly at the table. He was no longer holding Katara's arm. It hardly seemed like he'd moved at all. A shudder ran down Katara's spine, and she rushed from the stall. Her friends were immediately concerned.
'What happened in there?" Sokka demanded.
"I got my fortune read," Katara said, taking a shaky breath in.
"Are you alright?" Zuko asked. Katara nodded.
"I'm fine," she assured her friends. "It was just...very stuffy in there. His incense was too strong."
"Let's get out of here," Sokka said. "We should head home."
When they got back onto the palace grounds, Aang seemed to have bounced back from whatever funk he'd been in. He turned to Katara with a hopeful smile.
"Hey, Katara, do you want to walk down to the beach with me?" he asked. Katara smiled back at him.
"No," she said. She balked in surprise along with her friends.
"A-are you busy?" Aang asked. Katara started to nod uncertainly.
"I'm not busy," she said. "I just don't want to go for a walk with you." Aang was stunned by Katara's bluntness, but Katara was too distracted to notice. The words she'd spoken were her own, but they were her thoughts, and not what she'd meant to say. Her friends looked at her in surprise. She was never that blunt. Not with Aang, anyway.
"Are you alright?" Zuko asked.
"I am," Katara nodded uncertainly. "I just don't feel like walking with Aang."
"What did I do?" Aang asked. He sounded hurt, and his eyes were wide with shock.
"The last time we were alone, you kissed me," Katara said. Around her she heard her friends gasp. "I didn't like it. I'm afraid you're going to try to kiss me again." Why had she said that? Katara's hands flew to her mouth. Her friends had all rounded on Aang, and suddenly they erupted into loud demands and questions. Sokka bore down on him furiously, his voice rising above the others.
"You did what to my sister?" Katara slipped away in the confusion, fleeing for the shelter of the palace. She ran to the kitchen and sat against the door. She hadn't meant to say that. She hadn't planned to tell anyone what happened with Aang on the balcony. Why had it just come out like that? Part of her wanted to go back and calm everyone down, but she was afraid of what else she might say.
(Aang deserved the wrath he was facing).
Katara jumped up, shaking her head of that last thought. What Aang did to her was wrong, but he didn't deserve to face Sokka's wrath. She leaned against the counter in the middle of the room and took several deep breaths. He didn't deserve that...did he?
"Katara?" She spun around and found her friends standing in the doorway. Aang wasn't with them, unsurprisingly, but Katara felt a sting nonetheless.
"Sokka sent Aang to his room," Toph said.
"Are you alright?" Zuko asked.
"No," Katara said honestly. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I didn't mean to say that. I wasn't going to say anything about what happened at the play. It just...came out."
"Good!" Sokka exclaimed. "You should have told me when it happened! I'd have kicked his butt right there!"
"I'm surprised you didn't do it," Toph said.
"I-I couldn't," Katara gripped the counter behind her. The words felt like vomit rising in her throat. She tried to hold them down, but they came spewing out. "I wanted to protect him. I didn't want him to kiss me, but I thought I still had to protect him." What was happening?
"That's not your job," Suki said.
"It is though!" Katara tried clenching her teeth, but they wouldn't stay shut. "He's the Avatar. He's supposed to end the war. I need to make sure he gets there."
"Woah..." Sokka took a step back. "Is that what you've thought this whole time?"
"Yes!" Katara was frantic. "I can't stop saying what I'm thinking! Why can't I stop?" Her distress finally registered with her friends. They froze, uncertain what to be most concerned about at the moment.
"Katara," Suki ventured first. "Are you feeling sick?"
"No," Katara shook her head. "I just can't stop myself from saying whatever's in my head."
"What do you mean?" Toph asked. "Like you can't lie?" Katara shook her head. Her entire body was quaking now.
"I don't know what's happening to me," she said. Her friends watched her quietly for a moment.
"Did that fortuneteller guy do something to you?" Zuko asked. Katara looked up sharply and gasped.
"The gift," she said.
"What?" Sokka leaned forward. "What gift?" Katara told her friends exactly what had happened during her reading. The fortunetellers positive prediction. How unsettled she'd felt in the claustrophobic room. How he'd reached out to grab her before she left and spoke about how she was being dishonest.
"Then he told me he was giving me a gift," she concluded. "He said I'd have it until sunrise. Did-do you think he...had something to do with this?"
"No!" Sokka said firmly. "No way! It's one thing to say that guy can predict the future, but a truth spell?"
"Well, how else do you explain it?" Katara asked. "It's either he did something, or I'm losing my mind!" Sokka stared at her for a long while, mouth opening and closing uselessly.
"We don't know that anything's actually wrong with you," Suki said. "You spilled the beans about Aang kissing you without your permission. It's clearly been bothering you. Maybe him asking you to be alone with him again set you off."
"There's one way to test that theory," Toph pointed out. Katara leaned forward eagerly.
"What is it?"
"Tell us the truth, Katara," Toph's mouth turned into a wicked grin. "What do you really think about Zuko?"
For a moment nothing happened. For a split second Katara started to relax. Then she felt the words rising into her throat again. The thoughts that she intended to keep to herself prickling the back of her tongue, threatening to gag her if she didn't let them out. She tried to trap them with her teeth, but then she glanced at Zuko, with that adorably confused look on her face, and she knew she was going to lose this fight.
But at least now she knew what was going on. She'd find a way to make Toph pay later.
