All of the McAllistairs love so deeply, and that is exactly what's wrong with them and also what redeems them and yes this includes Priscilla.

Loving someone so much that you bring them back to life, willing to fight death itself just to have them with you again; loving someone so much you can't bear life without them so you do anything, no matter how brutal, to keep them with you, disregarding even their wishes and keeping them with you by force; loving someone so much you dedicate a religion to them, even run them for mayor even though they can't speak; loving someone so much that you're willing to die for them, sacrificing your own young life full of potential in order to give them what they want.

The difference is perhaps not the type of love but the type of people they are. It all depends on if they the person they love as an object or not, listen to what they want, and of course it's so easy to objectify someone who is also literally an object.

The all-consuming love that each McAllister feels causes them to do things that are both terrible and noble and I love that so much. The thing that stops the cycle is the thing that begun it

It's okay to be emotional over a ship.

It's okay to be emotional over a ship. It's okay to be emotional over characters. It's okay to share grievances over a ship as much as it's okay to gush over a ship. It's okay to feel so overwhelmingly negatively over a ship just as much as it's okay to feel so overwhelmingly positive.

While it's always going to be better to focus on positives, it can also be just as good to let out any negatives you might have about something rather than bottling it in and, for some, feeling alone in your thoughts about it.

It is so, so, SO OKAY to be so heavy in emotions concerning a ship whether negative or positive because it means you're invested in the characters and their relationships. When spaces seem to allow only positivity when some people might have some negative thoughts on a ship, it really negates any conversations about it and even understanding sides of why someone may or may not ship something.

While understandable, there is a double standard between being negative and positive about ships (or portrayal of characters). If you feel overwhelmingly negative about something, "you need to go touch grass". If you feel overwhelmingly positive about something, "go at it queen". I would personally argue we all need to touch grass.

It is NOT okay to harass others. It is NOT okay to let your emotions dictate that you should attack somebody for LIKING a certain ship or DISLIKING a certain ship. Your emotions DO NOT dictate how OTHERS should feel.

It is okay to be negative about a character or ship as much as it's okay to be positive about them. Neither side of being for or against a ship is more virtuous than the others. It's okay to have some fucking emotions regardless if their positive or not, because it means you CARE about the media and the characters in it.

No, you should not revolve your whole online experience in negativity. Find positive in things you DO enjoy. But to brush off people who vehemently might dislike a character or ship as "losers with no lives" is to disregard a person's emotions on something. And if you do wanna think that mindset, congrats, people who obsessively love a character or ship are just the same by your logic. Obsession is obsession, regardless if it's negative or positive.

TL;DR, If it's okay to be overwhelmingly positive in liking something like a ship or character, it should be just as okay to be negative in disliking something like a ship or character. Just as long as it's not the ONLY thing you focus on and no one is actively being bullied, attacked, or harassed about it. And of course, either way, positive or negative, it is all fiction, and a real person should not be attacked or harassed for it. And if you don't want to indulge in negativity you might have, 100% valid. Both sides always need to take a step back into reality.

I’m just thinking long and hard about the way Akiren and Akechi are written as foils for each other. Because of course, the game drives it home for us that the two are narrative foils: Akiren is the champion of free will who finds power through his friendships, Akechi represents the ways society binds us. He is chained by his desire to be wanted (importantly, by the wrong people– I’ll get to that).

At first glance, Akiren and Akechi’s point of divergence has to do with their relationships– Akiren has confidants, Akechi doesn’t, and this is the deciding factor in Akiren’s victory over Akechi on November 20th and in the engine room. Still, while this is certainly part of what makes their relationship important as a narrative device, it’s not the full picture. That, I think, has more to do with the fact that they both desperately want the very relationships that are used to foil them. They have common ground, and that’s what makes the emotional beats of their differences hit as hard as they do.

Even though Akechi doesn’t have the close bonds that Akiren does with his friends, he is defined as a character by his desire to belong. He wants to be praised and given everything he feels he was denied by Shido’s callous disregard for his mother and society’s unjust treatment of him after her death. He was a self-proclaimed “undesirable child” who spent his young adult life doing everything in his power to never feel unwanted again. He literally spells it out in his engine room monologue– “I was extremely particular about my life, my grades, my public image, so someone would want me around!”

Akiren, like Akechi, begins his character arc as a social outcast. Unlike Akechi, who appeals to systemic power to claim social clout and chase his own sense of belonging (the Shido revenge plot, which would, uhm, theoretically end with Shido acknowledging his son’s worth), Akiren finds family with other outcasts. All of the Phantom Thieves understand his struggle, and because of this they foster a sense of understanding and community that Akechi never gets to experience.

It is important to note that these bonds are deepened when Akiren helps those around him. While there’s absolutely nothing bad about doing things for the people you care about– in fact, most would argue that this is what makes a friendship a good one– we can take a reasonable guess that Akiren craves the love of those around him just a bit more than is healthy for him. He plays therapist for half of Tokyo– he stretches himself absurdly thin for the sake of his friends. That’s a bit much to ask of one person, but Akiren seems to demand it of himself. This is the nature of confidant routes as a game mechanic, of course, but hey, reading into game mechanics is important to getting a solid reading of who Akiren is behind the mask!

The crux of it is, Akiren and Akechi are both lonely characters. Their desire to be loved quite literally drives the narrative of the game, both in terms of plot and gameplay. What makes their foiling so tragic is the fact that Akechi so obviously wants what he has himself determined he can’t have. He says as much in the engine room when he questions why Akiren has things that he doesn’t, despite being (as he says) criminal trash living in an attic.

And yet, Akechi’s isolation is frankly the result of his own decisions. He is the one who chooses to work for Shido. He is the one who acts on a worldview that requires he keep his cards close to his chest to win— against Shido and against the world that wronged him— and to be considered desirable (even despite the fact that this mindset obviously works against satiating his hunger to be loved. He really needs to go to therapy, but I digress).

I don’t think Akechi even knows how to go about claiming what Akiren managed to. Akechi has agency in the actions he takes, absolutely– he would be furious about any suggestion to the contrary– but in many ways, the choices he feels himself able to make are constrained by his circumstances and the lessons imparted to him by his past.

All this to say, Akechi and Akiren aren’t different because Akechi doesn’t want teammates, or even friends. He sincerely wants everything Akiren has. He tells us this in the engine room. He shoots himself in the foot by prioritizing approval from society and love from Shido above other relationships. But thinking from inside his shoes, what else was he going to do? Where else would he have thought to turn to find what he wanted? He was dealt a horrible hand and he played his cards according to the rule book he was given. If the world were just, Akiren and Akechi wouldn’t be foils. It’s the injustice implicit in that that really drives home the point I think P5 is trying to make when it foils Akiren and Akechi in the first place. It also, personally, has been making me want to scream all day.

On a related note, this is also the exact reason that Akechi being the one to bring up that things might have been different if only he met Akiren a few years sooner makes me want to throw things, but this post is long enough. I’ll save all that for later!

- He liked having them with him when he cooked but he was kinda overprotective, even as they got older he didn't really want them near knives or fire

- Protective in a way where he'll have a familiar follow them or he'll see into someone's soul with his eye to make sure they're not a threat

- Generally friendly with their friends, he'd be considered the cool nice dad by his kids' friends

- But he is still not one to be messed with. If you hurt his children, you will regret it

- Even though he can be very worrisome, Azusa is very intuitive, and as a result he can trust when his child will make good decisions

- Of course that doesn't mean someone else won't make a dangerous decision that'll affect his kids so he still worries

- He gets soooo excited when his kids bring home friends and doesn't understand why he kinda creeps them out with his knives and slow talking

- The only time he will ever yell is if his kids did something that put themselves in danger

- Not very good at discipline but not exactly a pushover, they listen to him. Something about his soft words carry more power than an angry parent yelling or talking strictly would

- Has his familiars follow them on occasion

- If they're ever fighting and his kid lashes out and says they hate him just in a generic fight it will destroy him even when he knows they don't mean it

- He stares at them a lot because he's just so happy they're there and he loves them so much

Zoro demanding that Luffy not allow Usopp back on the ship seems to be a much more divisive topic than I originally thought. Looking at yknow, so many different sides, I think I understand how his words can feel cruel when you take into account how much Usopp grew in Enies Lobby and how much he pushed himself to the very limit trying to make things right. but then of course I have my own take away and. honestly this next bit might sound even crueler towards Usopp at first. I just don’t think that this was about Usopp at all. Or at least not in Zoro’s eyes.

His focus was on the way Luffy still needed to grow as a reliable Captain than on what Usopp needed to do as a crew mate. Luffy needed to reinforce his authority before moving on. He was formally challenged, and in Zoro’s eyes this couldn’t go unaddressed and untalked about- and let me pause here to reiterate that even though I’m arguing in this moment he was disregarding Usopp’s personal growth (as many ppl criticize him for) it’s not because he respects him less than Luffy or god forbid loves him less than Luffy- because as much as the Strawhats tend to disregard traditional rules of authority on their ship, Luffy is their Captain. And that means he’s holding their dreams in his hands. Someone challenging his authority is big, even if Luffy doesn’t want it to be, because how could he expect the Strawhats to continue to rely on him for leadership? When he’s willing to bury the hatchet without him and Usopp having even spoken to each other properly without a mask in between them.

“We’re not kids playing pirates” isn’t Zoro trying to say ‘Usopp’s actions towards Luffy were childish’ like many people think, it’s ‘you need to resolve this issue like an adult’. And though everyone’s allowed to read this moment differently, I really hope the ones who read it the same way I do don’t still think Zoro was in the wrong for asking Luffy to stand his ground properly.

I want to discuss the difference in the relationship between Mario and Luigi in the games vs in the movie universe. I mean, is their bond wholesome in both scenarios? Yes. Obviously. But there is a special closeness between Movie Mario and Luigi that I really need to ramble about. In the games, Mario was born into the world where he belongs– a world that needed a daring hero. One of his first acts was to go on an adventure to rescue his brother, even though he was a literal infant at that time. He hit the ground running the moment he gained consciousness, and hasn’t slowed down since. Everyone sees this heroism and determination, and admires him for it.

But in the Movie Verse, Mario is born into a lower-middle class family of blue collar workers in a world that doesn’t take well to reckless heroism. Bullheaded bravery is considered amusing at best, and an embarrassment at worst. There are no monsters to fight or princesses to save, there is only money to make and jobs to do, and Mario does his best to adapt.

In the games (the Mario & Luigi RPGs in particular) Mario doesn’t react to people disregarding or talking down to Luigi unless Luigi shows it bothers him, because, otherwise, I don’t think Mario even knows it hurts him. He probably thinks that surely Luigi knows his worth, and that there’s no use getting defensive over pointless nonsense when there’s more important things at stake. There is a lot of love between the brothers, but there is also the natural divide between someone who has fit in effortlessly his entire life, and someone who has been struggling desperately to keep up with him, just to get brushed aside because he doesn’t measure up in the eyes of the world.

Heroism doesn’t come easy to Luigi, but he does it anyways because he cares about his brother, and wants to do the right thing.

In both the games and the movie Luigi is an anxious, goofy, clumsy victim of continuous bad luck, whose kindness and good nature always shines through despite everything. He is deemed too gentle and nervous to fit in, an easy target who can be mistreated and pushed around without consequence... ... unless, of course, Mario is there.

In the games, Mario will argue on behalf of his brother if it’s clear his feelings are hurt, but in the movie verse Mario is prepared to throw hands in a heartbeat the moment you disrespect Luigi, because that version of Mario knows what it’s like to be talked down to. He knows what it’s like to be brushed aside and belittled, he knows that whether you take it personally or not all those small insults wear you down over time, and he isn’t going to let anyone do that to his little brother. 

On the flip side, Luigi is one of the few people who sees Mario for himself, and loves him for it. Though there are no monsters to fight or princesses to save (yet), Mario’s brashness helps Luigi stand up for himself... helps him move forward... balances him out. Luigi has always been the one person in this world who needed Mario to be as brave, bold, foolhardy, and heroic as he was.

Neither of them fit in, but they see each other and love each other for what everyone else has determined to be their weaknesses. 

In the games, Mario can easily stand on his own because he’s being helped, uplifted, and supported by everyone and everything around him.  In the movie? Luigi was, for the longest time, the only one who allowed him to truly be himself.

I think assuming ignorance and bad faith on the part of your reader is something that needs to be talked about or at least understood. It's prevalent in what feels like half or more of all well-meaning posts I see on this website, and I dunno if it's doing what you all want it to do, really. Perhaps you don't understand, or perhaps you're a bad faith actor. I cannot say, but I would hope it's the former.

I would hope you are simply making a whoopsie, so that's what I'm gonna choose to believe until I'm proven wrong.

Anyway:

Do you want reactionary, knee-jerk interactions? Do you want to either dissuade another from your cause or radicalize someone into violence? Do you maybe have a cult that you're starting?

Well, do I have the persuasion tactic for you!

Call your intended audience untrustworthy dummos who would rather scroll by your post or put down your book than listen to someone spitting hot fire and actual wisdom. (Which, of course, only you are doing and how dare anyone else dissent from that opinion. i have [cited sources] and a heart of gold and piercing wit)

Assume bad faith takes on their part. Presume that they don't read. Take it as a given that they would rather through inaction cause puppies to drown in a sea filled with gasoline and microplastics than listen to you.

Tell them that what they feel and think (because you know precisely both of those things intimately) are actually something akin to original sin. Make them feel unclean. Tell them that if they don't reblog your post they're mutilating their loved ones with flechettes and shoving peanut butter in the wounds.

You will gain by these actions two things.

1. Half of the people that take the time to be persuaded will instantly become angry and argue with you. They might even hold similar beliefs to yours, but not have the emotional maturity to gloss over or process the fact that they feel attacked. It will instead move them to irrationality because you've inspired them to anger. You've taken something from them. Well. It'd be more accurate to say they've given something to you. A piece of their peace of mind.

2. The other half will get angry on your behalf because you couldn't possibly be talking about them. Nope. Not ever. You must be talking about a different subset of people that are so heinous, uncouth, vile, and moronic. A subset of people diametrically opposed to everything that our group (Oh yeah, you've separated people into opposing groups by your actions. Congratulations!) stands for! That means there must be quite a lot of them, right? That means they must have some sort of power that we must fight or overcome, right? Where are you handing out the books, pins, candles, and pitchforks?

There's also more things that happen, but these are the ones relevant to *your* situation. There are more reactions to the stimuli you present. Like mine. I'm writing this piece of informational satire about your post because this all makes me sad, and I would rather see you love others than use, disregard, or maybe even hate them.

But hey. I'm not calling you stupid. I might be informing you of your actions and their consequences, but I have, this entire time, presumed you'd be emotionally mature enough to appreciate the way it's humorously presented and that you would enjoy and understand my persuasive devices.

I do hope you only make whoopsies from time to time in the way you present what's important to you. And that if you've been doing it on purpose, this makes you think about those actions in a deep and meaningful way. I aim to share. I've failed in much the same ways you have. That's the only reason I know a better way.

Words matter. Words are one of the primary mediums through which we interact and share life with one another. Words can evoke all the feelings. Even from staggeringly distant people.

I love you. I feel love when I interact with you. I feel love watching you move and feel your way through life. I even feel love when you stumble or fail or fall. I feel love when you ask for a hand back up.

People were discussing Taylor’s lyricism, and the level of it compared to other artists. Most people said that her lyrics are very good, but not better than other beloved writers like Carol King, MJ, John Lennon, Bernie Taupin, and even a few more contemporary artists. As a songwriter myself, I respect people’s opinions, and I also enjoy a good analysis, so I asked what people feel makes her not better or perhaps a few steps below those songwriters.

I got some really lovely, genuine answers that I won’t go into on this post, but I really appreciated those! They gave me some good perspective.

I also got one answer that emotionally landed somewhere between amusing and frustrating to me. The answer was that the “problem” with Taylor is that her own fans can’t even say what makes her lyrics so good. They’re unable to define it. What makes MJ, Lennon, and others so good was how they influenced artists for years to come. And MJ has lyrics that are clearly better than Taylor’s. (This was all according to one person.)

I wasn’t offended by this, but I found it interesting, because I can define exactly what makes Taylor special to myself and so many others. So I politely put it into words:

I would gently disagree there. As a Taylor fan, I could tell you what (I feel) is so good about her compared to other artists of our time. For me, it’s her ability to place the listener in a moment—in an experience. At her best, Taylor doesn’t have to tell you how she’s feeling; she describes a series of moments, and through the details she gives, you as the listener just feel it. However, I think that gift does tend to get lost in her more “pop” style songs—not always, but often. I’d say All Too Well and Ivy are great examples, though. Not just that the lyrics are strung together nicely, but that they’re very effective. That is just my opinion of course.

I am someone who tries to be objective, so I’m not going to beat anyone over the head with my opinions.

The response I got was…interesting. This person decided that my opinion was to be disregarded because it was…an opinion? “Judging the lyrics should be an objective thing, not a subjective thing. The things you described were subjective things, any artists fans can say that about their favorite artist and it would be true for them. I was talking about more objective literary judgment.”

I’m not one to argue with strangers on the internet, so all I could do was politely point out that almost all literary judgement is subjective. And also that the things I described of Taylor are things she objectively does, but whether that makes a good song is where opinion comes into play. And, because I’m a little petty, I pointed out that their statement of “MJ has clearly better lyrics” was also very subjective. Because it is—and that should be okay! But let’s not pass of our opinions as facts while accusing others facts as being mere opinions.

Anyway, like I said. I don’t argue with strangers online. I DO, however, come to vent about their silly behavior to my tumblr community.

I tried to leave this as a comment on that last post, but it got too long:

Of course Grian isn't going to say what the story is about. There's nothing to grieve. Mumbo’s not dead. He's going to find him. He believes this with every facet of his being before mid ch10. The fact that Grian doesn't say the word makes the theme even more impactful.

The first stage of grief is denial, and that's pretty firmly where Grian is for 80% of the fic. And when someone challenges him on that? Well, the second stage is anger, so he lashes out at Jimmy, Pearl, and Scar.

But once he finds Mumbo? Or rather, what once was Mumbo, it's I should hove died with him. I should have been there. Bargaining.

This forest, this wilderness he’s spent half a summer living in, isn’t visible. Instead the total darkness of night wipes it into a blank slate of inky blackness, punctuated only by the Nitwit Fire in the distance. No other lights. 

No other lights in the forest. No other lights in his heart. Depression.

We're not at Acceptance yet. So of course Grian isn't going to say what the story is about. Not yet.

Because it's like what I said in our previous talks. By the last line of ch12, Grian’s journey will have only just begun.

Ooh I love how you broke this down! You're right that Grian would never describe himself as grieving because he believes Mumbo is alive. He knows he's a wreck about it, but he wouldn't consider it grief because he thinks it's going to be temporary. He really thinks that he'll be completely fine once this all gets resolved, which is also one reason why he consistently disregards himself. (Side note--I 100% would use the word grief for people/things/concepts that are not dead, but he wouldn't lmao.)

And he is pretty angry throughout the fic as a result of that grief. I didn't want him to just be like...generically sad and mopey, I wanted him to be genuinely a little difficult to deal with. Over and over in the story he lashes out at people who say what he doesn't want to hear. Or he fails to take their feelings into account to begin with. But that's the truth! That's how it happens. People who are hurting do not often have "easy" emotions. cough @ my dad i know you are still grieving your father's death and are emotionally stunted but please be a Little nicer to us

I would also argue that his insistence on trying to find some secret conspiracy to explain everything is also a form of bargaining. I've said before that Grian is often so logical in this story that it loops back around into being illogical. That is, he's convinced he can find a Reason for something that....doesn't have a reason. He kind of thinks he can solve life. He wants to make it make sense even though it doesn't. So he constantly is trying to find ways to bargain around this in the story.

And as for depression/acceptance....yeah, he's in that zone. He needed that closure to begin to process things properly. It's going to take a chunk of time for that to process. I have also said on here before that this story isn't about resolving Grian's trauma, since that will take much longer than the time we have, but delivering him to the first step. It's a story about the first step. By the end of chapter 12 he has a little glimmer of acceptance. But it's just that, a single thread. It's more that he makes the decision to try and start weaving with that thread (however long that actually takes off-screen)

I will admit that, for as much as I like to opine on Sonic discourse, there are some topics that strike me as superfluous. One time there was a big kerfuffle on Twitter about how game purists apparently want Sonic to only be represented by the wind and I went "Nope, not touching that one."

Another time, I saw an enormous thread that began "I don't actually like SA2." I was like "cool story" and went on with my day.

So it's not like I'm incapable of walking away. I'm just opinionated, lol.

This phenomenon is not just limited to Sonic fandom. The nature of social media is such that you're at risk of seeing an opinion that you deeply disagree with at any given time.

The thing that gets me in the context of Sonic discourse is the additional dimension of everyone in this Chili's operating from the underlying assumption that Sonic as a series is deficient, to the point where they speak to you as though you believe the same as they do.

It'd be one thing if folks were like "yeah, this is just my opinion," but you rarely find sentiments couched in those terms. It's always with this authoritative tone which does not broker argument, at least not without a whole lot of ad hominem flung your way. The games are inconsistent (read: not worth engaging with) and my claims are self-evident (that's why I'm not pulling up any sources).

And it's not even the inaccuracy that necessarily gets me so much as the confidence with which people insist 2 + 2 = 5. Like, folks balk if you dare say "This is factually wrong," because how dare you say my fanon is less than those inconsistent games? My fanon was supposed to be equal to or better than the games. I cannot be wrong, you're just a canon purist with a huge stick up your ass for something that's not even worth all that much.

I often feel the inaccuracy is a sign of carelessness or disregard toward the games. It's as though you (general you) think so little of them that you can't be bothered to double-check that the things you claim happen in them actually happened. And I'm honestly hard-pressed to find another fandom that treats the source material as this worthless and disposable.

Part of the reason my posts get so ungodly long is I have to take the time to do research. Most of the time I can rely on memory, but in those cases that I can't, I try to Google it. (sidenote but Google images has become such utter trash omfg you can't find anything you need)

You can imagine what it feels like, then, when you go to all that trouble only to have non-fans with a superiority complex tell you you're overthinking it. Or for another fan to act as though your research means nothing and their uncorroborated claims are worth the same as or even more than canon.

In both cases, it stems from an attitude of entitlement. Of taking the games for granted.

Not to be a doomer, of course, but the series' creators are not going to be around forever. Who's going to helm the ship when Sonic approaches its 50th anniversary? What is the franchise going to look like if folks keep revising the past into something it's not?

It's easy to think this stuff is insignificant - and to be fair, most of the time, it isn't that deep. I could be doing more productive things with my time than to painstakingly point out the obvious, but I do it anyway precisely because I care about the series so much. It's worth the same amount of consideration every other fictional franchise with a sizeable fandom has; being based on speedy zoom zoom hedgehogs doesn't negate that inherent worth.

And so, I think, even if my words are not always the softest or kindest, if my attempts to provide a reality check can make someone out there feel a little less crazy, a little less of a wet blanket, a little more grounded amidst the madness, well. My time can't have been wasted.

keep in mind this is about MY opinions on LIVE ACTION matt. I have not gotten into any daredevil comics just yet but I'm planning on it - so i'm obviously not very knowledgeable about the comic version of the character!!

He doesn't focus on it that much in public settings or obviously as Daredevil, cause ofc he fights sweaty people in the darkened stinky alleys of Hell's kitchen, but I feel like his home would be spotless. A few spots of blood sometimes, but usually spotless

Also prefers non-alcohol, unscented or natural cleaning products ofc ofc (maybe even carries a little bottle of natural unscented hand sanitizer sometimes)

as for favorite scents, I feel like he'd love subtle sweet scents more than cologne or perfume- like the lingering smell of cinnamon or vanilla on Carver after she's been bak--- and for himself, relies on the fresh laundry and unscented shampoo for normal days, splurges with a very careful amount of traditionally musky or "manly" cologne for events. very particular about how and where he applies it.

Foggy, in college, as the ultimate wingman, used to advertise those cooking skills to ladies

Also, Foggy has been begging for a recipe for something, that Matt has been refusing to give him for YEARS. They argue about it during holidays, especially thanksgiving when he brings that same dish or pastry to the Nelson family reunion (just to spite him)

Matt's cooking is also sometimes something they bet on! like if Matt loses he has to cook for Foggy or something. If Foggy loses he still cooks for him, but he just puts the bag or boxes in his office and doesn't mention it and leaves before Foggy can argue

He used to hate coffee but he grew to really love it over time, and is now specific about how he really enjoys it. (and bear with me here, has been searching for a perfect coffee place and well, well, well....what have we here....THE CHISEL MUAHAHAH)

In college he had a caffeine pill phase, when he hated it but needed the caffeine

Doesn't listen to music as much as anyone else of course - but that's because there's a certain guilt to it. Matt would be someone who'd always want to stay alert, for his sake but mostly everybody else's. Shutting the world out by focusing on music feels almost selfish because what if someone needs help and he doesn't hear them, or not in time? For the same reason that he keeps pushing himself to save people or "bring justice" in his own way. He just wants to help and save everyone and doesn't allow himself to take proper breaks or relax.

But honestly, i feel like it'd be cute to imagine him reminiscing about music his dad showed him, or discuss composers with Father Lantom

Thank you for answering my ask. I had honestly never even heard of "unconditional love" until I read it in one of your posts so I wasn't sure what you meant by it. Now I think I understand the concept a little better but maybe I need to do more research. You raise a good question about Cinder. Why WOULD she love Jaune unconditionally? I never thought about it from that angle due to my Hero/Villain goggles. I assumed that Jaune was capable of falling in love but not Cinder. That was stupid of me.

That's more than alright, that's interesting you've never heard of unconditional love but it's always fun learning new things. (: I would say it's usually used in the context of parental love, that's where most people agree it's possible (and where it's often discussed), it's a bit more controversial in the context of other types of love. In this case I think because we have a connection between parental wounds and romantic love redeeming them in the story it's appropriate to talk about for that reason.

Unconditional love is a complicated topic and as I mentioned in another post, it's something that I think is worthwhile exploring in narrative. Despite that, I don't think it's actually a major clincher for the romance; it's neat and adds flavour, and is my type of preference in romance, but it's never going to be something that a character consciously says, e.g., 'I unconditionally love you.' It's going to be something that is talked about in intention and characterisation. Really, the purpose of my using it is to describe the role of love in both of their arcs and exactly how enormous of an undertaking it is to help Cinder and for her to let someone do that lol. I really think a lot of romance these days (and a lot of romance discourse on Tumblr and the like) is rooted in this almost - disregard for the actual intricacies for Romance romance, and speaking in terms of fandom on Reddit or Discord when I talk about Knightfall, I'm not talking about whether Jaune should get the girl or Cinder should get the guy, it's much more than that.

Part of my confusion on the topic of whether or not unconditional love is a thing (or impossible) is that what I really mean is that it's descriptive of characters in the narrative and their emotional/moral/spiritual ideals.

I actually meant it in the reverse. I assumed that you were implying Cinder can love Jaune, but not vice versa. It's not stupid of you, I'm interested in interrogating subconscious thought, and in this case I've had many anons imply the only sticking point about Knightfall is whether Jaune can love Cinder. The other way around is taken for granted or not worth discussing.

I think figuring out why either of them would is interesting, but they 'would' because the story calls for it lol. Their character arcs are read together, they make sense together... in terms of temperament I think they would be hilarious... in terms of Jaune being sincere and honest I think it would take Cinder aback. There are ways they could surprise each other which might inspire intrigue. I love the idea that were it not for the ancient eternal emity between their respective sides and the world being broken in half and everything being terrible etc. they would totally be in love and are secretly soulmates.

But I don't really talk about this aspect as much because I feel that my fanfic speaks for itself, but I understand that if you don't read my fanfic (certainly not asking you to, it's a personal preference of course) my analysis can seem like it has holes. But this is also the angle that I find harder to argue because it's emotional, and if I'm to do that I want to argue from the way other romances are characterised in the show. Ultimately I think the major argument for it is that they're complementary in a way that is archetypically recognisable to people familiar with enemies-to-lovers: Light and dark, good and evil, life and death, tenderness and cruelty, fear and bravery, hope and despair, sorrow and joy, healer and killer, saint and sinner, knight and Maiden... it really does go on and on lol. I don't really know how to say 'I think Jaune is a bit naughty and sarcastic and Cinder is naughty and a bit sarcastic and together they would be unstoppable' in a way that's convincing because it's my personal conviction, but I do think that onscreen them working together would be awesome. And hilarious. I already love the way they talk to each other in canon (warning I do discuss R/WBY ships I don't like, though I do talk about a few of them from a perspective of analysing canon elsewhere on my blog).

I suppose one could go so far to say the Knightfall romance makes sense because he's the only one she can let in (at first, anyway). You need someone strong, courageous, noble, and gentle

who doesn't want anything from her and doesn't have any reason to want anything from her (and to begin with is not threatening to Cinder like Ruby with her silver eyes... or anyone who could get the Maiden power). The idea that the one who helps her is someone who in the first place was not a very good Huntsman and entered Beacon under rather self-serving conditions and is the one left behind after all is said and done is incredibly exciting, because he is an ideal Huntsman in a way I think he yet doesn't necessarily conceive of. The idea that they both reach their narrative and character ideals together (good Fall Maiden! ideal Huntsman!) is amazing.

That's why it's got to be Jaune. That's why I don't think any other character fits, either for a romance or for being the one to finally get her over the line to the side of Good (and I think he's the connection of her to Ruby). I think it's very appropriate that people have speculated that she was going to kill him since Volume 1 because of their respective intertextual links, so everyone's known they've been tied together in some way since the start. What I love is that it's true, just not in the way you expect. (:

Why did you feel the need to get annoyed by another account’s ask? An account that is already known to be NSFW and who accepts NSFW asks. They weren’t even asking how to find NSFW IFs, they were asking for recommendations from that author. I really love your story, but I despise the way you treat other authors and readers who simply have different opinions than you. This isn’t the first time you’ve decided to put your opinion in places it doesn’t belong. You don’t speak for all authors, and if another author has a problem with an ask or something, they can say something. You constantly show up on multiple blogs with some kind of complaint, you’re snippy and rude to other IF authors, you are hostile to askers who just want to understand where you’re coming from, and it’s very hard to appreciate what you do properly if all you do is cause drama amongst the IF community. There is already enough problems in this community and you feed every single fire. You push your way into every problem and it’s so difficult to try to follow your story when you’re constantly posting about issues that have nothing to do with you. I truly believe you’re an amazing writer who has such a bright future ahead of you, but you need to stop trying to worm your way into everything or you’ll lose a lot.

A/N: Couldn't sleep, so I wrote this laying in bed. I hope it's not some sleep-deprived nonsense ^-^

"Oh my god! Just shut up!" You scream it through your bedroom doorway. Storming to the railing of the stairs, you lean over and scream again. "Shut up!"

The sea of people on the ground floor go quiet. Only the music dares to keep making a sound in the background. You skulk back to your room, slamming the door loudly behind you. You had had a long, disappointing day. You were tired and grumpy, and moody and sad. But the dozens of uninvited pack members couldn't care less as their party raged on into the night.

Not allowing you enough time to even climb back into bed, Namjoon storms after you to address your outburst.

"Y/n, go downstairs right now and apologize." He orders.

"No." you mope. Feeling it's a wildly unfair request. All these people are in your house making so much noise when you're trying to sleep. How is it you that's in the wrong?

"Do you think I am asking you? I'm telling you. Get downstairs now." He says sternly. His strict tone making you even more emotional. You just wanted him to be on your side for this.

"But- But I," you sniffle, with tears in your eyes.

"No," Namjoon cuts you off. "I've asked you all afternoon what's wrong. And you wouldn't tell me. So right at this moment, I don't want to hear it. You have been disrespectful to me and my people. So you are going to put some more clothes on and cover-up, and you will go out there and apologize to every single person." He growls, leaving no room to argue. "And you will do it sincerely, or I will give you something to cry about."

King! Seokjin

You didn't say it to his face. You would never be that stupid. But still, you clearly weren't smart enough. While gossiping to a friend, someone you thought was a confidant, you're complaining about a seemingly endless, boring meeting you had to serve today.

"And I just wanted to tell all of them; Oh my god! Just shut up!" You laugh. 

But hours later it's no longer a laughing matter.

"How did you enjoy serving me today, Princess?" Jin asks his tone giving nothing away of what he already knows.

"I enjoyed it. Thank you, your Majesty" You politely smile, thinking his question to be a kindness.

"I often find these meetings so dull. Many of the Lords do like to ramble on. Sometimes I would enjoy telling all of them to just shut up." He speaks the words so purposefully that you know at once you've been exposed.

"My Lord, I-"

"If you are smart you will not say another word." He speaks softly, with a grin on his face. "I want to thank you, Y/n.  I have an endless supply of other people I can hurt. Each one of them is freely at my disposal, but you are my favourite toy." He fills the space in front of you. "However, I am a man of my word. I swore to you that you will be unharmed if you are obedient, and I would not dare to break this vow. Of course, I have sorely missed playing with my beloved little dol, though."

Towering over you he sets off your instinct to get to your knees and grovel, begging his forgiveness for your carelessness. But that would only be a wasted effort.

"So thank you, Princess, for giving me the possibility to hear your pretty cries of pain again. I will make sure to use this opportunity to its fullest."

Assassin! Yoongi

He had been in a hyper mood for 2 days straight. His energy and enthusiastic interaction was something you always craved, but you had never dealt with it this long before and you were losing your sanity and your composure.

"Oh my god! Just shut up!" You shout at him as your last nerve snaps.

"Okay, Y/n." He gives little to no reaction. "Remember you said this in a month from now when you're begging me to speak to you."

But it didn't take a month. In two weeks you were in tears apologizing. He left you free to roam the house, but he revoked all communication from you. The only times he gave you any attention, was when he forcibly made you stop doing something he didn't like. Or when he wanted you for sex. But still, he wouldn't utter a single word, only bending you over to take what he wanted.

After 5 weeks, just as you thought you'd never hear his voice again, he finally broke his silence. Only to break your heart.

"Listening to you these past few weeks, I realise how much you talk. It's time you take your own advice and shut up. Y/n, I don't want to hear a sound out of you until I say. 5 weeks was easy enough for me. So let's start with that, and then I'll see if I want to hear from you yet."

Vampire! Hoseok

Hoseok was always so animated. Normally it didn't bother you, but he was talking and reacting through yet another movie and you were sick of it. It might have been because you were PMSing or maybe because Hoseok had forgotten to feed you all day, but when he yelled at the TV, you yelled at him.

"Oh my god! Just shut up!" And right away you were teeming with regret.

"I'm sorry baby. Am I being too loud?" He laughs with an unexpectedly harmless reply. Playfully but roughly slapping his hand on your thigh. "I'll keep it down."

You're not dumb enough to think that your eruption would go unanswered. So you sit tensely, anxiously waiting to see how he will repay you.

"Baby," he whispers in your ear, after sitting in silence for 20 minutes. "You know I have very strong hearing right?" You nod nervously. Chewing your lip. "Well, your breathing is too loud and very distracting. I can hardly hear the movie. Can you please fix that?"

You know this is going to lead to something horrible, but you have no choice but to do as he says. For the next 10 minutes, you're completely distracted trying to inhale and exhale as softly and shallowly as possible.

"Hmm baby, it's really too much. I can't concentrate on the film." He stands, pulling his belt off. "Here let me help you."

He wraps his belt around your neck, pulling and setting it so tight that it's biting into your skin. Your throat constricting, barely letting you breathe.

As you wheeze and splutter and cough, he holds the end like a leash. Sitting back on the couch, he turns his focus back to the movie without letting you loosen the strap or get away. Your whole body is shaking, your eyes starting to roll back as you struggle to inhale. The belt is cruelly not tight enough to have you pass out though. Only allowing you to sit in your suffering. The sound of your gasping filling the room.

"Ahh, there you go baby. That's much better. Don't worry, it's just while we're watching movies. And there's only two more left in the trilogy."

Playboy! Jimin

He was telling you over and over how sorry he was. How he didn't mean to kiss that girl. That he was drinking. And that she kissed him. It was every excuse and lie he had spouted 100 times before.

"Oh my god! Just shut up!" You yelled at him. And for a moment it worked. He sat in stunned silence. But as you got off the bed to leave, taking your car keys with you, he chased after you.

"Where are you going?"

"Out Jimin. I need some time alone to think." You scowl.

But he refuses, blocking the door. Holding his arms to either side to barricade you in.

"No, you can't leave! I said I'm sorry."

"Fuck off Jimin, your apologies mean nothing." You say shoving him.

He doesn't accept that. With a roar, he grabs your shoulders throwing you down onto the bed. Quickly straddling you, using far too much force to keep you pinned beneath him. Tearing off the pillowcases, he makes some shoddy but effective restraints. Tying you to the bars on the headboard.

Ignoring your screams and how you struggle he starts to kiss down your neck, pulling at your clothes, rubbing his hands down your body.

You can't stand to look up. All of the attention is on the two of you. And even in your peripheral, you can see your friends looking at you judgementally, wide-eyed and in shock.

And he was making it worse by having you use his title around them.

"Shouldn't you also apologise to the other people at the table? For interrupting our night with your rudeness." He keeps piling on one shame after the other. Stretching out the ordeal.

"No, it's fine." One of your friends tries to laugh off the awkwardness and speed the discussion away from this point. "She doesn't have to."

"Y/n," He prompts you, disregarding what your friend had said.

Thoroughly humiliated, you can't imagine how you are going to repair these relationships or explain this treatment away.

It's been a week since five of class 1-A's students attempted although succeeded to save their classmate Bakugo Katsuki from the clutches of the League of Villains.

It's been a week since Shoto Todoroki grew a closer bond with Momo Yaoyorozu.

He started to study with her most of the time. He ate lunch with her a lot. It even got to the point where he would walk her back to the dorms from class.

To be honest actually, it started way back from the final exams. Ever since the two of them worked together in order to pass the examination, it seems that Shoto had grown an interest in her somehow.

Perhaps it's because he thought she was smart? Or is it because he just noticed she's extremely beautiful? Or maybe, he saw her in a different light compared to how she usually acts in class.

That doesn't matter though. He was still your lover no matter what. So like what any significant other does, you go and confront him.

After hearing a short response from your lover who's on the other side of the door, you stepped inside the room.

"Hey, Shoto. Are you busy? I just wanted to talk to you about something for a minute"

Hesitating, you started to speak again. "What I'm trying to say is that I noticed that you've been spending most of your free time with her these past few weeks."

"Uh-huh-?" The man in front of you gave you a skeptical look. "What about it? Am I not allowed to spend time with my friends?"

His cold tone surprised you. You could feel that things were starting to heat up; you didn't mean for this conversation to spark an argument between you two,,

"Shoto, I never said that. I didn't say that you aren't allowed to spend time with friends, it's just that I'm uncomfortable about the fact that you have most of your attention on Yaoyorozu. And we're the ones in the relationship here. Not you and her" you explained. It's true, right? The two of you are the ones in the relationship. Not Yaoyorozu and Shoto.

"Please, Y/N." he scoffed "You've been spending time with Midoriya, Iida, and for the love of God Bakugou too, lately! Isn't that enough attention to keep you going already?"

"It's not about the attention Shoto! You're my boyfriend and they're my friends! There's a huge difference between hanging out with them and with you!-"

"You're a distraction."

You paused. What did he just call you-? "Shoto,,, what-?" tears were starting to form in your eyes. You didn't mean to end up in this situation. You didn't want to argue about this topic.

"Father pointed out that being with you was simply a distraction. While Yaoyorozu is someone who is composed, gentle, and hardworking with her studies,,, you are loud, and you prefer spending time with your so called friends rather than studying."

That was the last thing you heard come out of his mouth before you ran out of Shoto's dorm room.

You couldn't believe him honestly. Did he really think that about you? Did his father finally brainwash that brain of his?

Anywho, he wanted time with her? That's exactly what you're going to give him.

From going into the entrance at the back of the school to sitting at the table at the back of the cafeteria, you've been doing a lot just to ignore the boy you had a conflict with.

While you were having a hard time staying away from him, he was having a hard time focusing without you.

"Todoroki-kun? Are you okay there?" Yaoyorozu asked Shoto beside her, who has been staring outside the window for a while now.

The two students stayed behind in Class 1-A's classroom to review the material they were taught the past few days.

"Pardon me,, I was just thinking about stuff"

The ravenette tilted her head in confusion "Stuff? What kind of stuff? Is it the History homework Midnight gave? If so, I could help-"

"It's not that" Yaoyorozu was cut off "Don't worry about it."

"Oh, uhm- Ok then,, shall we continue?" Momo turned around to look at Shoto just to see he's been eyeing her aswell.

Just as he was about to head up to his dorm, he happened to pass by your door. Shoto paused for a while to think. "Should I?"

Streching his arm out, Shoto knocked on the door.

*knock knock*

A beat of silence passed by before you replied, "coming"

You were shocked but at the same time aggrivated(?) to see who was at the other side of the door as you opened it.

"Shoto?"

"Hellooo?" the Todoroki infront of you was snapped out of his thoughts as you waved a hand infront of his face.

You sighed and thought he just must have nothing better to do. Just as you were about to close the door, a monotone voice spoke.

"I'm sorry."

You were honestly suprised to be hearing this. The Shoto Todoroki himself apologising?

You opened the door a little wider to get a complete view of the boy standing before you. You happened to notice the guilt in his eyes as he looked at you.

"I didn't mean any of the things I said the other day. Father called me to nag about me slacking off on training before you came in, and I was stressed at the moment."

You stared at him and he took your silence as a sign to continue.

"And about Yaoyorozu, I promise you love, there is nothing going on between us. We're friends. Nothing more, nothing less. I sincerely do apologize for the things I said and described you as when we last talked."

Shoto inhaled after letting all of that out in one breath. But he was suprised to see you smiling.

"Love?"

"It's okay Shoto, we're okay" you grinned, starting to walk towards your lover.

"I understand, it's just that- Next time, let me know when Endeavor's starting to get on yoir nerves again, k?"

At that, Shoto smiled. "Mkay,"

"I promise to not make you feel left out again too,,"

"Alright, alright."

"I love you"

"I love you too, Shoto"
