While my strong, vocal support for Ukraine remains unchanged and I believe it is unambiguously morally correct, I will say that there is something of a bitter pill embedded in it for me as a Jew who is very close to another Jew whose whole family had to flee Ukraine with her as a child because a combination of having the wrong surnames and being Jews meant they could not safely and successfully stay there. And like. She was born there. She still identifies as Ukrainian and has been devastated the last three years over the suffering of her people. She has been a vocal opponent of Putin and of Russian imperialism.

And at the same time, the reason she's here in the US and isn't fluent in Ukrainian is because she was too Jewish to be a "real" Ukrainian (despite the Soviets having forced her family to give up their Jewish religious practices and her having to learn everything as an adult.)

listen okay. eddie fender is probably the best alternative that they could have come up with and i give props for that.

but i was going to not like any alternative. no matter what. because raymond shields is a perfect name. it's cool and evocative and heroic-sounding, it has a star wars reference in it, from the minute i first heard it in a fic i was intrigued. "raymond shields?? who is that??? 👀"

and then you find out the name belongs to this kinda-pervy doofus and it's hilarious.

but then!!! towards the end of aai2 when miles is really backed into a corner and he gives him some inspiring words and tells him his dad would be proud of him...i feel inspired. he totally earns the cool name.

it's the perfect name and anything less than perfection for my boy was gonna disappoint me.

Just watched The Librarians S2E8 And the Point of Salvation and...

I loved it, for the most part. Cleverly written and a fantastic Ezekiel-centric episode! He had beautiful moments with each of the others and learnt so much from them. He had substantial character growth and was given the space to bear the weight of serious circumstances and respond appropriately. This episode had the potential to be incredibly pivotal for Ezekiel's character!

And yet....

That ending. What the hell?? What do you mean his memory is lost and he forgets all of those poignant moments???? All those conversations, all that learning to rely on others - are freaking serious??

I'm never a fan of time loop episodes, but I thought they were handling this one pretty well. Right up until they erased all of Ezekiel's character growth at the drop of a hat. This was literally the equivalent of "and then she woke up" being used in a novel. It's weak and strips all purpose of what the characters have just been through.

Ugh! Tell me I'm not the only one. How dare they give me such a good episode of growth and discovering potential for Ezekiel Jones, then take it all back with a just kidding!

Sokka is appointed Ambassador of the South Water Tribe because his father's gone back to be Chief and Sokka just wanted an excuse to stay at the Fire Nation and in the Fire Palace so he could be closer to Zuko (who is obviously the Fire Lord)

Toph also jumps onto this and demands Zuko make up a role for her too so she can stay at the Fire Palace too, so she's appointed Ambassador of the Earth Kingdom

Now Jet (who obviously lives because I'm fucking delusional) questions Zuko and asks him what's his official cool title coz he doesn't just wanna be "The Fire Lord's Companion" so Zuko says he's his personal guard, but Jet challenges this and says that he doesn't need a personal guard when he's got Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors

Sokka (who's lounging on Zuko's bed) hears this and gets the image of Jet in Kyoshi Warrior uniform and immediately tells the other two, which results in a night of Sokka wrestling Jet into the uniform after sitting on top of him already to apply the makeup. Zuko just sits by and watches, joyfully enjoying the show.

Other than the whole out of the gods focus thing, I honestly don't see them having a reason they'd want to?

Its too far from anything familiar. I don't see Percy wanting to be too far from his mom and Estelle(i mean, California is already pretty far. Of course he can use Mrs.O'Leary, but still. Long distances still effect her.)

And, why he definitely wants to stop getting drag into things by the gods, camp half blood still holds importance to him. I'd think he'd want to at least stay somewhat in the loop with other demigods and there if something really bad happens.

We see in Tlo that New York/Manhattan is pretty special to him to. Of course he's going to school on California for New Rome, but I see him moving back to New York after. I mean the guy literally shoved Michael out of the way than got actually angry seeing Manhattan put to sleep. I actually don't think it's talked about how Percy's loyalty also kinda includes Manhattan. Like that's his home. Where he was raised, where Camp is close by. He feels comfortable in Manhattan. I just don't see him really wanting to move. I mean, again yeah New Rome exists. But i think that mainly would be the exception because of the safety of it being for demigods and legacies. Even then I see him feeling wierd there considering what we do know about how they are with elite and old money family that lives there.

Alaska is also more dangerous because of it being out of relm of the gods. Percy wants a peaceful life, I don't think he'd want to risk living where he knows monster can still get to them and be more comfortable doing so. Especially if they plan to start a family at some point.

Its fun thought, but definitely don't think it work out well ^^'
