A Complete Guide to SAT and ACT: Syllabus, Dates, and Preparation Tips
The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and the American College Testing (ACT) are standardized exams that most colleges and universities in the U.S. require as part of their admissions process. These tests play a key role not only in admissions but also in eligibility for scholarships and financial aid in some states. A good score can significantly enhance a student’s application. This guide will explore the SAT and ACT, including their syllabi, preparation tips, and important registration dates. If you're wondering, "how long does the ACT test take," we've got you covered as well.
What is SAT?
The SAT measures a student’s readiness for college with a focus on reading, writing, and math. Although some colleges have made SAT scores optional, many top institutions still consider them an important part of their admissions process. A strong SAT score can be a deciding factor for acceptance into a preferred college.
SAT Syllabus 2024:
The SAT is divided into two main sections: Reading & Writing, and Math. The total time for the SAT is 2 hours and 14 minutes, which includes a 10-minute break between the two sections.
- The Reading & Writing section has 54 questions divided into two modules, each lasting 32 minutes, making this part 64 minutes long. - The Math section includes 44 questions split into two modules, with 35 minutes allocated per module, resulting in a total of 70 minutes.
In the Math section, students will encounter topics like algebra, advanced math, problem-solving and data analysis, and some geometry and trigonometry. Understanding these topics is crucial for achieving a good score.
The SAT allows students to combine their scores from Reading & Writing and Math to arrive at their final score, which colleges use to assess their academic readiness.
SAT Exam Dates:
The next SAT dates are scheduled for November 2, 2024, December 7, 2024, March 8, 2025, May 3, 2025, and June 7, 2025. Each test has specific registration deadlines, with late registration options available for a few extra days after the regular deadline. It’s important to keep track of these dates to ensure timely registration.
What is ACT?
The American College Testing (ACT) is another standardized test used for college admissions, assessing skills in English, math, reading, science, and an optional writing component. A key question that often arises is, "how long does the ACT test take?" The answer depends on whether you choose to take the optional writing section.
ACT Syllabus 2024:
The ACT exam has multiple sections, each with a different focus and time limit: - English: 75 questions to be completed in 45 minutes. - Math: 60 questions with a time limit of 60 minutes. - Reading: 40 questions to be completed within 35 minutes. - Science: Also has 40 questions, with 35 minutes allotted. - Writing (Optional): This section involves writing an essay and has a time limit of 40 minutes.
If you're wondering "how long does the ACT test take," the basic test (excluding the writing section) lasts for 2 hours and 55 minutes. Including the optional writing portion, it extends to a total of 3 hours and 35 minutes. Understanding the overall duration of the ACT test is essential for students to manage their time effectively during the exam.
ACT Exam Dates:
The upcoming ACT test dates are on December 14, 2024, February 8, 2025, April 5, 2025, June 14, 2025, and July 12, 2025. Registration deadlines are typically a month before each test date, with late registration options available up to a few weeks before the test. For those registering late, a late fee will apply, and there are deadlines for uploading photos and standby requests.
SAT and ACT Preparation Tips:
- Understand the Format: Familiarity with the SAT and ACT formats, including question types, helps students manage their time more efficiently. - Create a Study Plan: Identify weaker areas and allocate more study time to those subjects. A balanced study plan will help track progress. - Utilize Official Study Resources: Access sample questions, study guides, and practice exams from the official College Board and ACT websites. - Take Practice Tests: Simulating test conditions with practice exams is crucial for understanding how long the ACT test takes in real-time, helping students better manage time during the actual exam. - Consistency is Key: Follow a regular study schedule and practice consistently to boost confidence and performance.

What if there was an AU for [Name] being one of the top ranked mages in twisted wonderland?
╰Description: [Name] is one of the top mage in Twisted Wonderland, right after Malleus Draconia.
Part 1 | Part 4 | Part 5 (You are here) | Part 6
Tumblr media
 —May 24, 2024—
This is a continuation on the What if there was an AU for [Name] being one of the top ranked mages in twisted wonderland?
After the dreadful day of the test results, the students in NRC are now begging Crowley to do something about [Name]'s rigorous lessons. Because Crowley was ever gracious–forced–he took it upon himself to make a meeting with [Name] and discuss lighter plans for her classes.
To Crowley’s dismay, [Name] was quite adamant about her methods of teaching; and I quote: “What is the point of teaching such a hard skill to those that are uninterested in it?”
In her defense, you need to have mastered the intermediate level of theory to learn her method of casting spells, it is only natural she puts pressure on that. And so, the once popular professor [Name], is now the feared witch of NRC.
It is impressive how quickly people switch their feelings.
…
“What do you mean you won't change the syllabus?”
“As I stated before, Mr. Crowly, I will not change my lesson plans because a few students are unable to pass my test.”
“That's eighty percent of your students!” Crowly slammed his desk.
“Your point is…?”
This had been going on for an hour already. They had neither progressed nor reached an agreement. He was getting too much pressure as it is from the students, much less from the parents, and now one of his own staff is not listening to him? Oh, woe is upon him.
“Professor [Name] let’s be reasonable here,” Crowly massages his face out of frustration, “you need to lower the difficulty of your lessons. If not, no one will want to take your class! Are you not seeing the problem?”
“I stand to see the issue.” [Name] said not faced by what is happening. “If my students wish to not take my class anymore, then they should be allowed to leave.”
Croly groaned at her obliviousness…that is what he thought anyway. He stood up to grab a stack of papers piling up near the office entrance. Letting them fall in front of [Name] they made a bang sound.
“...what is this?” [Name] asked looking at the mountain in front of her.
“These are all papers of complaint from both parents and students.”
[Name] was still not interested in the dire situation. It is as if she didn’t care. Probably because she did not.
Crowly dropped his elbow onto the desk and leaned in, he began to speak. “Professor [Name], if you continue at this pace, I have no other choice than to fire you.” He warned.
“Then do it.”
“No, you don’t have to worry, if you just change—wait what?” He was left speechless. He had threatened other professors like he threatened [Name]. But none had ever followed through with their ideals. Maybe he heard it wrong. “Do…what exactly?”
“Fire me.”
No, he heard correctly.
“...Professor [Name]...you can’t be serious.”
“Oh, but I am,” [name] stood up, “If you wish to fire me, you are more than welcome to.”
“...”
“If there are no further issues, I will take my leave.” Taking her belongings, she walked toward the door. She had classes to teach after all.
“Wait a second! Please, at least think of lowering the complexity of the class!”
[name] stopped as she opened the door of the office. “...” looking back at the desperation of the Headmage, she turned, “...I’ll think about it.”
Having done everything in his power, Crowly lumberly sat down. He looked out to the last spot where [Name] had been in the doorway and sighed. He hoped she would consider what he said, if not, he would have to start looking for a replacement.
…
Classes continued as usual. The students hung around NRC as it was their lunch break. They talked about ordinary things; tournaments coming up, newly released movies, who would win in a beauty contest: Vil or Neigh; normal conversations.
But a murmur had begun to spread.
It is a rumor. Usually, rumors are few and far in-between in NRC, because the boys would lose interest in a day or two. Ah, but this is not a typical rumor. This rumor had to do with The Witch of NRC. Rumor had spread that she was going to be fired. This was shortly after the meeting [Name] had with Crowly.
A student had seen her walk out of the headmaster's office and produced a happy conclusion. It did not help that in the following days [Name] had to take a few days off sick.
Everyone started to celebrate. They would not have to deal with professor [Name] anymore!
“Can you believe it? Professor [name] was fired!”
“What? No way! I am glad she got fired. I won't have to worry about having her in the future anymore!”
Most of the students cheered. Her method of teaching–although hard to follow–had taught them more about magic theory than any other class. Given this, they were grateful.
So, hearing that their professor was fired, they decided to go to her personally and give her some farewell gifts.
Although, one student was not pleased by any of this.
I wonder what he’ll do….

Day 9 of 100 Days of Productivity 🪴
~ Decided to sit down at my study table and not get up all day except for food and toilet breaks ~
Here is how my day looked:
woke up, exercised and had a good breakfast
put on a face mask, took a bath and did my morning skin care routine
sat down to study - did pathology
spoke to my friend to get his updates
took my lunch break
studied 5 pharmacology chapters
took a break and went for a walk in the park downstairs
studied some more pharmacology
had dinner
did my night time skin care regime
watched a comedy show with my roommate

Productivity Journey
Day - 13/100 | 5/11/2024
I'm awake since 3am today. Need to sleep. Hard.
What I could accomplish -
Sorted out UG/CU syllabus my own way.
Bathed.
Made tea. Had tea.
Prepped for classes.
Wore a sari!
Traveled to college.
Took classes.
Socialized.
Sat for the orientation, properly. Without getting lost into thoughts.
Sat for a meeting. Talked to a student.
Went to an alma mater. Socialized bit more.
Had lunch.
Traveled some more. Slept en route.
Wrote two pieces of poetry on the train.
Took a class.
Could keep my head calm while returning.
Sat for a session. Conducted a relaxation.
Took nasal spray.
Took two doses of inhalers.
Hopefully will have dinner.
Going to change now.
Bad things -
Couldn't sleep. Slept only 2 hours.
Reached college 5 minutes late.
Dead scared about not being able to reach on time tomorrow.
Had to take two more doses of inhalers. But missed.
Miscommunication made me not be able to sit with some students.
Too hectic it was today. I am glad I am alive, and didn't burst out.

NTA Introduces Major Changes in NEET 2025 Exam | Details Here
A Little Story to Prepare the Ground
Sitting on her desk surrounded by biology textbooks and physics notes, 17-year-old Rhea from Delhi sat with her calendar marked ‘May 4, 2025’ looming huge. Dreaming of a career in medicine, she had been training for the NEET test for more than a year. Her phone hummed one evening with a notification.
“NTA announces major changes to NEET 2025, including APAAR ID integration.”
Her pulse skipped a beat, “New rules, new technology, and a new ID system?” she thought. Rhea understood her path to an MBBS seat was about to get more complicated, much like million other candidates.
This is the narrative of how the National Testing Agency (NTA) is changing the NEET 2025 exam by fusing technology with legacy and what it entails for students just like her.
The Big Reveal: Major NEET 2025 Changes by NTA
Aiming to modernize the exam and solve earlier concerns including the 2024 paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has revealed extensive modifications for NEET 2025. From a redesigned test schedule to biometric monitoring and APAAR ID integration, these changes will reshape India’s future doctor selection.
Moving further, let’s explore the specifics.
1. Exam Pattern Overhaul: No Optional Questions Here
The NEET UG 2025 test pattern is returning to pre-COVID roots. Originally included during the epidemic, optional questions in Section B provided candidates freedom, NTA has deleted this for 2025. Announced on February 22, 2025, the test would now comprise 180 required MCQs, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, totaling 720 marks, to be completed in 3 hours. (Source)
This change calls for thorough preparation, hence selective study has no place. For Rhea, it’s a sign to become a master on every subject, including Genetics and Thermodynamics.
2. Improved Security via Government Centers and Biometric Surveillance
The 2024 paper leak from a Jharkhand private school rocked faith in the integrity of NEET. NTA is therefore using biometric surveillance, including facial recognition, for NEET 2025. (Source)
Candidates whose faces deviate from their recorded profiles will be denied admission. Apart from that, the test would take place in government buildings such as Delhi University and Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Though it presents administrative challenges, this action seeks to close security flaws given over 5,000 centers are required for 24 lakh+ NEET aspirants.
3. Using APAAR ID: A Digital Academic Passport
One particularly notable modification is NEET 2025’s inclusion of the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID. Launched under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as part of the ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ concept, APAAR is a 12-digit unique identity for students. (Source)
APAAR ID digitally maintains academic records like, marksheets, certificates, and achievements, via DigiLocker, therefore speeding verification and lowering fraud.
Schools need an 11-digit Permanent Education Number (PEN) and issue APAAR IDs utilizing the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE) system. Students have to link it to Aadhaar and a current mobile number used for OTP authentication. (Source)
Benefits include guaranteed correct identity checks, simplified registration, and accelerated exam-day procedures including attendance. Though Aadhaar is still essential for biometric validation, NEET 2025 is an optional tool meant to improve efficiency.
Although not required, NTA promotes its usage in line with the digital vision of NEP 2020, therefore future-proofing the exam procedure. The forthcoming information bulletin will go into great detail on alternate registration options for students without APAAR IDs.
4. Preparation Shift and Syllabus
Complementing Classes 11 and 12, the NEET 2025 syllabus is unaltered according to the NMC. (Source)
But the required question style turns the emphasis to depth across all subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Why These Changes Count?
A simple yet needed answer for the above question is that these changes modernize NEET while addressing earlier issues.
The leaked 2024 undermined confidence and led to government centers and biometric verification. Though optional, the APAAR ID captures a drive toward a computerized, fraud-proof system. NTA seeks to guarantee fairness and rigor given 24 lakh+ hopefuls vying for 1.1 lakh seats. For students, it’s a test of adaptation, learning the syllabus, negotiating technology, and keeping current.
How Candidates Might Adapt: NEET 2025 Preparedness Strategies
1. Master the Revised Exam Pattern
To develop speed and accuracy, master the revised exam pattern by completing 180-question. Practice examinations under three hours. Use official mock tests on neet.nta.nic.in for your practise.
2. Advance Weak Areas
Cover all areas, organic chemistry, mechanics, and human physiology thoroughly without any optional questions.
3. Accept APAAR ID (optional)
Use your school or DigiLocker to create your APAAR ID for seamless registration. Link it to Aadhaar and check your cell number is operational. Consult apaar.education.gov.in for direction.
4. Stay Updated
Monitor NEET’s website for announcements on registration, centers, and APAAR details.
5. Mental Preparation
Balance study with relaxation and mindfulness to face the strain of 24 lakh competitors.

It is going to be the end of 2024 soon and here I am in the IIMC, it was my dream in December 2022 to he here, well let's start with the day but prior to that I am sorry to myself as my lazy ass didn't wrote anything since past 3/4 days and which I regret also.
Now let's start with the day, morning wasn't the best, as I had some altercations with Astha, then moving on, we are currently having an workshop from an senior journalist at Rueters and who is Aldo our alumni, so he takes like whole and it is very much exhausting.
Whole day was lecture only but after 6 things got some actions. So after leaving the class I went to hostle as I wanted to change and also some rest was needed. So after resting for sometime, I called astha and we went for coffee. Had coffee with Hemant, Astha and Manisha then went for some essential which we didn't got.
Coming from there we had some word exchange and I shouted at her which I really didn't intended to. But things got sorted out in the end as I called her from her hostle and we sat and talked about it.
Then I came to hostle saw the syllabus and bss itna hi hua ajj..

What Will the 2023 SAT Exam Cover?
Introduction:
The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. It is a written test that assesses a student's reading comprehension, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. The SAT is scored on a scale of 200 to 800 for each section, with a total score of 600 to 2400.
The SAT exam syllabus for 2023 remains largely unchanged from previous years. The test is still divided into three sections: Reading, Writing and Language, and Math. However, there are a few minor changes to the syllabus, including:
The Reading section will now include more passages from diverse authors and perspectives.
The Writing and Language section will now place a greater emphasis on clear and concise writing.
[Discover more: Sat Changes 2023-2024: What You Need To Know]
The Math section will now include more questions on real-world applications of mathematics.
SAT Exam Syllabus for 2023
Reading
The Reading section assesses your ability to understand and analyze written text. The section contains 52 multiple-choice questions based on four or five passages from a variety of disciplines, including literature, history, science, and social science.
Writing and Language
The Writing and Language section assesses your ability to write effectively and to understand and use the English language correctly. The section contains 44 multiple-choice questions based on four or five passages.
Math
The Math section assesses your mathematical knowledge and your ability to solve problems. The section contains 58 multiple-choice questions and 36 questions that require you to show your work.
How to prepare for the SAT
The best way to prepare for the SAT is to get top coaching for SAT exam and to take practice tests and to review the test content. There are a number of SAT prep books and online courses available. You can also find practice tests on the College Board website.
When preparing for the SAT, it is important to focus on your weaknesses. Identify the areas where you need the most improvement and focus your studies on those areas.
Here are some additional tips for preparing for the SAT:
Start preparing early. The earlier you start preparing, the more time you will have to learn the material and take practice tests.
Create a study plan. Decide how much time you can commit to studying each week and create a plan that will help you cover all of the material.
