Am i the A-hole for trying to protect a women focused space?
I'm the mod from the super one sided retelling of the "Refusing to change OC's sexuality to bi/pan" situation. Shin (the person who wrote that post) know i don't use tumblr so of course he bring the drama here so that people would judge "Laura" and me without knowing the full truth. Thankfully, a dear friend of mine who followed this blog told me about this and was kind enough to allowed me to send this ask using her account.
First of all, it's pretty clear that Shin is lying about his identity. Shin said he is a trans man but he admitted that he don't want to transition beside wanting flat chest. Shin also said that he is south east asian but his display name and his OC's name are all japanese, which is a huge sign of white weeb fetishizing japanese culture. The fact that his english and understanding of slangs is way too good to be south east asian.
Secondly, Shin joining this server knowing that 90% of the members are yumejoshi, he should be grateful of the fact that we even allowed those yaoi characters invading what basically a space for women. I know we advertised the RP as a non-shipping focus death game story but you should have read the room and know what type of people this space is catering to and not bring your gay character in if you didn't want him to be shipped with women.
Thirdly, if Shin was uncomfortable then he should have made it clear from the start instead of letting "Laura"s character flirting with his, like having him respond rudely or out right rejecting her or something. Shin said he is having undiagnosed autism in his bio then he should have understand how it feel when people don't state what they mean clearly. His OC still being nice to "Laura"'s OC even if he didn't like the flirting, of course she would misunderstand that his OC developed romantic feeling for her OC.
Fourthly, Shin said before that he didn't count alternate timeline versions of a character from a visual novel he likes the same as the original timeline version because of their different life experiences then why can't he do the same to his OC? Why can't he just agree to let "Laura" make an alternate version of his character if in his logic they are completely different people? Hypocrite much?
And finally, "Laura" was very upset about this and it took her a while to move on, she could have hurt herself back then because of you. Also, we had to revised our server's rules and banned all the non-yumejoshies, which cut several RPs short.
So who is really the A-hole here?

Friendship and ASPD
In a cluster b server I’m in, someone asked about how ASPD impacts friendships and I was encouraged to cross post my response on here so here we go.
Firstly, I’m going to go through how I figured out friendship and how to make it work for me starting from my lowest functioning point to where I am now.
So to begin with, I had no true circles. I floated between groups of people who could give me what I wanted in that moment and just manipulated them into giving it to me if my request alone was not satisfactory. Sometimes all I wanted was social camouflage, sometimes i wanted money or food or a distraction. It was arbitrary and there was no real long term plan - at least, when i was no longer in an environment where long term strategies were vital.
Eventually, as I started working on my recovery, I managed to maintain relationships that were exclusively online. The convenience in putting away my laptop and my social obligations disappearing along with it was immensely helpful and it gave me a way of experimenting with being a little more open and a little more attached that had no Real Life repercussions. It was still transactional, all my relationships still are to this day, but they started becoming less Obviously transactional. I was still getting physical, tangible stuff from people, but I was also getting support, a safe space to figure out how to relate to my emotions, and somewhere to practice empathy and other social skills like it. There was a lot of trial and error but when I ruined something in one space I could just start again somewhere else and not have to worry about the two overlapping.
Now that I am Recovered™️ sort of, I’ve developed Exceptions, who have at some point shown that they are trustworthy and nonjudgemental and understand the antisocial side of my personality and are happy to help me work around it. My symptoms sort of change around them. I don’t have remorse but with Exceptions I will feel a kind of visceral disgust directed at myself for how I could have hurt them like that and that will quite often spark a narc crash.
I decided a long time ago what I didn’t want to be, so throughout the entire process I was watching for patterns of behaviour that were harmful for the sake of being harmful. I created a quite intricate set of rules that I couldn’t loophole my way out of and that was very much an important factor in how I continued to develop my skills and ability to interact and maintain relationships.
I am still bad at a lot of stuff though. I don’t reach out to people, I never start conversations so a lot of people just disappear until I’m reminded of them. I’m also awful at vocalising appreciation and while I know logically that people like to help their friends, I constantly have an internal debate about whether I am taking advantage of people I don’t want to be taking advantage of (given that taking advantage of people tends to make them pissed off eventually). And there are days where I don’t want to be around anyone at all and thats ok. It’s better for me to let myself be by myself than to force myself to interact with people when I really dont want to.
Recognising where I lack skills and reflexes prosocials have has been a skill in and of itself and it took a long time to develop it. But it’s been worth it to me, I’m now able to experience and enjoy so many aspects of life I thought weren’t meant for me.
And I’m very smug about being able to get it despite it being implied I never would.

sleepy snuggle struggle - skizzpulse oneshot
https://archiveofourown.org/works/63751594
Rating: Gen
Relationship: M/M
Archive Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Status: Completed Oneshot
Word Count: 1,503
Summary: Skizz is a hot sleeper, and every once in a while, Skizz wakes up sweating in the middle of the night because the server is experiencing the summer heat and Impulse is glued to them like he's trying to hibernate in the dead of winter. Curse his code for making him run so hot because his husband is just so stinking cute, he could never deny him his well-deserved sleepy snuggles.
Little happy fluffy skizzpulse gift for @v1neyy <33
Tumblr media
Full oneshot is included under the cut for your convince, so please kudos/like, comment, and/or reblog so I get some of that sweet sweet external validation >:D
One thing no one told Skizz about having a netherborn husband before they got together or even became best friends was the juxtaposition of a netherborn’s sleeping tendencies.
The two laid together in their shared bed, Impulse’s arms wrapped around Skizz’s torso with his face buried against Skizz’s left pec. Their legs were intertwined, so much so that Skizz barely knew which were his own and which were Impulse’s. Granted, he was still half-unconscious for he had just blinked awake, but still! The limbs must have lost some circulation while they slept, and any attempts to move them risked waking Impulse, and obviously he couldn’t have that.
Besides, waking sleeping limbs tended to lead to blood rushing to heat the affected skin while pins and needles attacked his muscles in the most annoyingly agonizing way it could think of. It wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world, to put it lightly, and Skizz would rather walk barefoot in snow. At least his feet go numb when exposed to the frigid Overworld powder.
Impulse had a few layers of fuzzy blankets draped overtop of him to help insulate the heat his body did produce, but he had also insisted on Skizz’s wing wrapping around him too. He had confessed to liking it when he was completely surrounded by Skizz, and, well… who was Skizz to deny his amazing husband of that?
Plus, Skizz rather enjoyed being able to hold Impulse close with the white feathers if not his arms themselves, even if it meant someone laying down on the occasionally-sensitive feathers. It wasn’t too bad as long as he kept up with preening, and Impulse never let him go more than a week before confronting Skizz’s avoidance and procrastination.
See, Dipple-Dop’s preferred sleeping environment wouldn’t be too bad if he were a typical Player, but Skizz had always run on the warmer side when it came to his internal temperature. This meant that he didn’t get as cold as his mortal counterparts and his code wasn’t as developed in terms of natural regulation for it hadn’t needed to when he was up in the Heavens.
While his friends of Overworld origin bundled up in the dead of winter, Skizz would walk around comfortably in shorts and a sleeveless top. When he first fell from the Heavens and gained Player status, it had taken him a bit to get used to the fact that most other beings required external warmth to avoid freezing to death.
Back then, back when Skizz met Impulse, he had assumed that, being from the warmest dimension known to Players, Impulse would be similar to him. Impulse could take a dip into lava with no issue, and, on first glance, anyone would guess that he simply radiated heat. Was it that big of a leap in logic to think he would also run warm? Especially when Tango Top– a blazeborn also from the Nether– was practically a living furnace, especially with the flame on his head?
Apparently so because Skizz had assumed wrong. Crazy, right?
Impulse’s internal temperature was quite cold, his code adapted to accept the constant boiling temperatures of the Nether without consequence to his body. Since he became a Player in his own right, entering the Overworld full-time to join the rest of their friends, the function that had once been an asset became maladapted. Skizz supposed it made more sense why Impulse often opted for more layers than Skizz ever did when they changed their skins to suit whatever server they were messing around with at the time.
The soft hum of a redstone fan’s blades whirling filled the room, accompanied by Impulse’s gentle snores. Most Players couldn’t even hear it, but Skizz’s ears have always worked better than his peers’. Skizz wouldn’t dare complain, though. He quite liked the background noise paired with the little sleepy sounds Impulse made unknowingly.
The fan was directed so its breeze brushed against the bare skin of his face and neck to avoid his fallen angel body from overheating as badly as it once had. That was a rough period of fevers and previously unexplained exhaustion that Skizz would rather forget. Impulse made the redstone device for Skizz far before they were married, as the two had always been a cuddly duo even when they were simply platonic. Gemstone– one of their friends– had always teased them about it, only growing more smug when she was proven right.
Skizz hadn’t meant to confess his discomfort, but Impulse overheard Skizz offhandedly mention the issue to a fellow Player one day, claiming that he hadn’t been sleeping well when they cuddled due to the extra heat Impulse required. Impulse didn’t grow upset or complain about Skizz’s comments to another Player instead of him, and, instead, he went to fix the issue! That moment was one of many that aided in Skizz’s realization that he was lucky to have such a great homie buddy. Skizz more than appreciated the effort and care Impulse infused into the device a lot, understanding that the action was much more than simply the tangible fan itself.
The unfortunate thing was that, even with the fan, he still tended to overheat some nights, especially when the general outside temperature was warmer than usual. The heat would then cause Skizz to wake up with his clothes just a little sticker with sweat than before. Still, he didn’t complain, simply using the half-conscious time in the middle of the night to smile gratefully down at his husband’s sleeping face. Skizz didn’t know where he would be without him. Impulse was the first to help him when he first fell.
Dipple-Dop looked so peaceful as he slept, even with his face squished against Skizz’s chest and a little drool trickling out the corner of his lips. His brown hair was a mess and the curled posture in which he slept was honestly atrocious, but Skizz couldn’t help but find any “fault” of his absolutely endearing.
Skizz gingerly brushed a few stray pieces of hair out of Impulse’s face, not wanting anything to obscure his view until his lover shifted in his sleep again. He bit down on his tongue in an attempt to be quiet, knowing that cooing over his husband may wake him, which isn’t what Skizz wanted. Instead, Skizz redirected the surge of adoration that demanded action within him by leaning toward Impulse to press a chaste kiss against the top of his forehead, a spot just below his hairline and right between his horns.
Impulse squirmed a little when Skizz’s cheek accidentally brushed a horn. He froze, watching Impulse’s face carefully to see if he would open his eyes. Fortunately, he didn’t. Instead, his nose scrunched as if mildly peeved for a moment as he twisted to bury his face against Skizz’s chest again. Impulse muffled a snore against Skizz’s torso, and he couldn’t resist giggling at how cute he was. Void, how Skizz loved him.
A large yawn forced itself out of Skizz’s mouth, leading Skizz to squeeze his eyelids together as he pushed his shoulders backward to stretch his upper back. He smacked his lips together a few times before using his free hand to rub crusties or whatever that gunk was from his eyes.
During these quiet moments, these little bubbles stuck in time, Skizz would occasionally forget that it was indeed the middle of the night and that he needed rest as much as Impulse did. He couldn’t just stay awake until the sun started to rise peering down at his lover!
Skizz tried not to move too quickly as he reoriented himself, not wanting to risk waking Impulse with him. He even held his breath for maximum efficiency, the thought making him feel better even if it didn’t actually work that way. Skizz allowed his eyelashes to flutter shut for the last time that early morning as he tugged his heat absorbent of a husband closer to his chest. He idly scratched his fingers in Impulse’s hair as he silently commanded his limbs to relax.
Was he a little hotter than he would like to be, hotter than he would be if he were sleeping by himself?
Sure, yeah, of course.
Would he rather be alone then?
No way, dude!
Skizz would much rather sleep beside Impulse any day, even if it meant no actual sleep for him– even if it gave him a fever! Not that that had happened in a very long time–
Cough, anyway–
Skizz would much rather sleep beside his husband every day than sleep by himself, no matter what the outcome may be.
Impulse’s unconscious form was just as stinking cute as awake Impulse was, and Skizz was never one to pass up an excuse to gaze lovingly at husband nor trace his features with his eyes, if not, his finger. They’d been together for forever, and Skizz was more than content to spend an eternity more by his side, however long that would be for them.
If you got all the way to the end, please consider reblogging this post, kudosing/liking the fic, and commenting on the ao3 fic itself, thank you <333

SysNotes devlog 1
Hiya! We're a web developer by trade and we wanted to build ourselves a web-app to manage our system and to get to know each other better. We thought it would be fun to make a sort of a devlog on this blog to show off the development! The working title of this project is SysNotes (but better ideas are welcome!)
Tumblr media
What SysNotes is✅:
A place to store profiles of all of our parts
A tool to figure out who is in front
A way to explore our inner world
A private chat similar to PluralKit
A way to combine info about our system with info about our OCs etc as an all-encompassing "brain-world" management system
A personal and tailor-made tool made for our needs
What SysNotes is not❌:
A fronting tracker (we see no need for it in our system)
A social media where users can interact (but we're open to make it so if people are interested)
A public platform that can be used by others (we don't have much experience actually hosting web-apps, but will consider it if there is enough interest!)
An offline app
So if this sounds interesting to you, you can find the first devlog below the cut (it's a long one!):
(I have used word highlighting and emojis as it helps me read large chunks of text, I hope it's alright with y'all!)
Tech stack & setup (feel free to skip if you don't care!)
The project is set up using:
Database: MySQL 8.4.3
Language: PHP 8.3
Framework: Laravel 10 with Breeze (authentication and user accounts) and Livewire 3 (front end integration)
Styling: Tailwind v4
I tried to set up Laragon to easily run the backend, but I ran into issues so I'm just running "php artisan serve" for now and using Laragon to run the DB. Also I'm compiling styles in real time with "npm run dev". Speaking of the DB, I just migrated the default auth tables for now. I will be making app-related DB tables in the next devlog. The awesome thing about Laravel is its Breeze starter kit, which gives you fully functioning authentication and basic account management out of the box, as well as optional Livewire to integrate server-side processing into HTML in the sexiest way. This means that I could get all the boring stuff out of the way with one terminal command. Win!
Styling and layout (for the UI nerds - you can skip this too!)
I changed the default accent color from purple to orange (personal preference) and used an emoji as a placeholder for the logo. I actually kinda like the emoji AS a logo so I might keep it.
Laravel Breeze came with a basic dashboard page, which I expanded with a few containers for the different sections of the page. I made use of the components that come with Breeze to reuse code for buttons etc throughout the code, and made new components as the need arose. Man, I love clean code 😌
I liked the dotted default Laravel page background, so I added it to the dashboard to create the look of a bullet journal. I like the journal-type visuals for this project as it goes with the theme of a notebook/file. I found the code for it here.
I also added some placeholder menu items for the pages that I would like to have in the app - Profile, (Inner) World, Front Decider, and Chat.
Tumblr media
i ran into an issue dynamically building Tailwind classes such as class="bg-{{$activeStatus['color']}}-400" - turns out dynamically-created classes aren't supported, even if they're constructed in the component rather than the blade file. You learn something new every day huh…
Tumblr media
Also, coming from Tailwind v3, "ps-*" and "pe-*" were confusing to get used to since my muscle memory is "pl-*" and "pr-*" 😂
Feature 1: Profiles page - proof of concept
This is a page where each alter's profiles will be displayed. You can switch between the profiles by clicking on each person's name. The current profile is highlighted in the list using a pale orange colour.
Tumblr media
The logic for the profiles functionality uses a Livewire component called Profiles, which loads profile data and passes it into the blade view to be displayed. It also handles logic such as switching between the profiles and formatting data. Currently, the data is hardcoded into the component using an associative array, but I will be converting it to use the database in the next devlog.
Tumblr media
New profile (TBC)
You will be able to create new profiles on the same page (this is yet to be implemented). My vision is that the New Alter form will unfold under the button, and fold back up again once the form has been submitted.
Alter name, pronouns, status
The most interesting component here is the status, which is currently set to a hardcoded list of "active", "dormant", and "unknown". However, I envision this to be a customisable list where I can add new statuses to the list from a settings menu (yet to be implemented).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alter image
I wanted the folder that contained alter images and other assets to be outside of my Laravel project, in the Pictures folder of my operating system. I wanted to do this so that I can back up the assets folder whenever I back up my Pictures folder lol (not for adding/deleting the files - this all happens through the app to maintain data integrity!). However, I learned that Laravel does not support that and it will not be able to see my files because they are external. I found a workaround by using symbolic links (symlinks) 🔗. Basically, they allow to have one folder of identical contents in more than one place. I ran "mklink /D [external path] [internal path]" to create the symlink between my Pictures folder and Laravel's internal assets folder, so that any files that I add to my Pictures folder automatically copy over to Laravel's folder. I changed a couple lines in filesystems.php to point to the symlinked folder:
Tumblr media
And I was also getting a "404 file not found" error - I think the issue was because the port wasn't originally specified. I changed the base app URL to the localhost IP address in .env:
Tumblr media
…And after all this messing around, it works!
(My Pictures folder)
Tumblr media
(My Laravel storage)
Tumblr media
(And here is Alice's photo displayed - dw I DO know Ibuki's actual name)
Tumblr media
Alter description and history
The description and history fields support HTML, so I can format these fields however I like, and add custom features like tables and bullet point lists.
Tumblr media
This is done by using blade's HTML preservation tags "{!! !!}" as opposed to the plain text tags "{{ }}".
(Here I define Alice's description contents)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And here I insert them into the template)
Tumblr media
Traits, likes, dislikes, front triggers
These are saved as separate lists and rendered as fun badges. These will be used in the Front Decider (anyone has a better name for it?? 🤔) tool to help me identify which alter "I" am as it's a big struggle for us. Front Decider will work similar to FlowCharty.
Tumblr media
What next?
There's lots more things I want to do with SysNotes! But I will take it one step at a time - here is the plan for the next devlog:
Setting up database tables for the profile data
Adding the "New Profile" form so I can create alters from within the app
Adding ability to edit each field on the profile
I tried my best to explain my work process in a way that wold somewhat make sense to non-coders - if you have any feedback for the future format of these devlogs, let me know!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Disclaimers:
I have not used AI in the making of this app and I do NOT support the Vibe Coding mind virus that is currently on the loose. Programming is a form of art, and I will defend manual coding until the day I die.
Any alter data found in the screenshots is dummy data that does not represent our actual system.
I will not be making the code publicly available until it is a bit more fleshed out, this so far is just a trial for a concept I had bouncing around my head over the weekend.
We are SYSCOURSE NEUTRAL! Please don't start fights under this post
Due to an extremely inconvenient power outage, I’ve read through The Dark Knight Strikes Again.
It’s… certainly an experience. For my sanity’s sake I’m treating it as a non-canon AU to The Dark Knight Returns.
I’m glad I read it to understand Frank Miller’s contributions to Batman better, but I would not recommend it for it’s own sake.
Comic
Title: Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again
Author: Frank Miller
Artist: Frank Miller
Year: 2001-2002
Overall Opinion
This is an awful comic and I’m baffled that DC published it.
The Dark Knight Rises is a tightly written story with ample foreshadowing and callbacks; The Dark Knight Strikes Again is mostly just a series of events and it’s not clear how they’re all related to each other.
It starts with a vaguely coherent plot – Bruce is rescuing heroes imprisoned by the US Government – and goes completely off the rails as it continues. It doesn’t have a conclusion so much as it just ends.
The dialogue gets increasingly awful and out of character in each volume.
There are a few scattered good moments throughout, but they don’t balance out the badness.
I would not recommend it to anyone, except maybe to demonstrate how Frank Miller’s work deteriorated over time.
Art
The art is hideous. The characters are out of proportion and I frequently struggled to make out what was going on in panels.
Feet and faces in particular suffer. Feet are normally way too large, and women nearly always have the same neutral face regardless of the events occurring.
Throughout volume two there are numerous full and two page spreads. They contribute little to the story, and their overuse makes me think Frank needed them to meet the required page count.
General
-Volume One is rough, but there’s a valid story buried in there.
Volume Two and Volume Three feel like caricatures of a comic. Mean caricatures. The characters are awful, the stories make little sense, and everyone is wildly out of character. It reads like Miller used the comic to work out his personal feelings, internal characterization and logic be damned.
Apparently 9/11 occurred while Miller wrote this comic, and that’s why quality nosedives so badly. He also had a lot going on in his personal life.
I’m side eyeing DC strongly for accepting it. After reviewing Volume 2 they should have shelved the comic and given Miller some time to put his life back in order before starting to publish it again.
-In Volume One, a Batboy kills someone. For that he gets a month of latrine duty. This is treated as a tragedy (and I still thought it an under reaction from Batman).
By Volume Three, Batman is cheering when a teen hero kills Luthor.
??? If the comic was an exploration of what could drive Batman to support killing, I could roll with this. But it’s not so much an exploration as a dive into the celebration of violence.
-What the hell is Dick’s deal?
There is no explanation for why he’s killing and torturing. Apparently, having a grudge against Batman is supposed to be sufficient reason.
Dick’s inclusion in the comic servers no purpose. He could easily be cut and it would be a tighter story.
-There are some genuinely interesting concepts in the comic that deserved a better story. Batman leading an army of Batboys, Lara channeling the power of the surviving Kryptonians, if flashes of the future are guaranteed to come true…
I’d like to see these ideas used in other comics, but they are not worth reading this comic for.
Plot
-The premise of the comic is ridiculous.
Bruce would not have retired quietly if superheroes were being kept prisoner. He may have ‘retired’ to slide under the radar, but he would have been actively planning how to free them.
And he would have know they were prisoners; a man who kept up with the technological developments of the US and the Soviets since ‘one of has to’ would know the whereabouts of his former allies.
Batman would have come out of retirement a long time ago if this was canon to TDKR.
-How does Luthor not know about Lara? He claims to have spies everywhere, including Themyscira, yet somehow doesn’t know about Superman and Wonder Woman’s daughter.
How convenient.
-It takes Bruce way too long to catch onto the fact that Luthor is using Kandor to blackmail Superman.
Bruce somehow learns the location of Luthor’s blackmail database and ALL of its backups, yet he doesn’t know Luthor has Kandor. He thinks Superman is acting of his own volition.
Sure, that’s logical.
-Everything to do with Arkham is nonsensical.
To start, the timeline doesn’t make sense. TKDR occurred three years ago. Arkham released Harvey Dent and Joker during it.
In TDKSA, the inmates supposedly took over Arkahm five years ago. They’re also cannibals – not out of necessity, apparently just for the lolz. No mention is made of them attempting to leave Arkham.
And everyone’s just fine leaving them to it.
As a reminder: This did not drive Bruce out of retirement. A kidnapping and watching Zorro is what pushed him over the edge.
Present day Batman still doesn’t do anything. Just frees Plastic Man and leaves.
Very believable.
-The rest of volumes two and three are just train wrecks. Don’t think too hard about them, just roll with it.
-It’s mentioned at the end that Bruce loves Carrie.
It’s stated that she’s the daughter he never had, and I’m clinging to that and actively ignoring the vaguely romantic overtones of the final pages.
Characters
-Why is Carrie Catgirl now?
She’s only 16. That’s a normal age for a Robin.
If she wanted to stand on her own, why Catgirl? Why not Catwoman?
Why cat related at all? Carrie doesn’t have any ties to Selina that I know of.
(It better not be to foreshadow her as Bruce’s love interest, since Catwoman frequently is one.)
-Wonder Woman’s dialogue to get Superman out of a stupor is terrible.
This comic was written in the 2000s, it should be past the idea that woman are prizes:
Wonder Woman: “Where is the man who stole my Amazon heart? Where is the hero who threw me to the ground and took me as his rightful prize? Where is the god whose passion shattered a mountaintop?”
TADT AU: Dynamic duos (main ones)
Caine and Bubble
Bubble is always at Caine's side whenever he isn't being used for showing hints to the players. Even though his actions can be seen as kinda gross, he acts as a sort of loyal dog to Caine after the years the toybox server had been abandoned.
Caine made him to help the players advance through each level before the server had been abandoned. They don't have much of a bond outside of having either a boss/assisstant or "pet"/owner dynamic. However, Caine gets very easily cross with Bubble, usually popping him to get rid of Bubble temporarily if he ever gets angry with him over anything.
Pom and Ni
As the sisters who are players in the game, they have very differing mindsets that can help them out in any situation. With Pom and her analytical behavior, she helps with trying to find a clear and logical explanation for any situation, even if they get into quite a few pickles. Ni, on the other hand, is protective of her sister by helping her get out of a bad situation whenever she notices Pom freezing up.
Despite always having each other's backs a lot of the time, it does sometimes become an issue to try and see from each other's point of views. With Ni's spontaneous risks, Pom worries that she'd eventually get herself into a situation where she would seperate from her. With Pom's moments to freeze when thinking, Ni worries that while she's thinking, she would lose her from any outside threats trying to kill them.
Gangle and Lanky
Programmed to be siblings with differing ideas on how to handle the stories they produce, Gangle and Lanky have slightly differing views on how to treat the players.
Lanky is often the one who is closed off from accepting criticism for his plays. If he wants a story to be done right and things are going wrong in his eyes, he'd usually intervene and take control of the players' actions with his ribbons. With Gangle, although she can be much more accepting of criticism than her brother, she still holds onto a lot of nostalgia, often saying things such as "I don't remember that" or "that's not how it used to be" when talking about things from the past. With Gangle's coding to be submissive to her brother, she fears that standing up for herself will ultimately lead to her code being deleted.
Jax and Kaufmo
Although they come from two completely different animation styles, Jax and Kaufmo were a dynamic duo who enjoyed innocent, cartoonish violence. They would even do collabs with each other to perform together.
After Kaufmo's code had been deleted, Jax was angry that his best friend had been erased from the game. As a means to let his anger out, especially to fill in the void of boredom, he started to act more out-of-character by becoming more aggressive. However, even though his anger is mainly directed at Caine for taking his friend away, he lashes out at everyone who crosses his path, especially new players like the Pomni twins, due to how close they are to Caine.
Kinger and Queenie
Before the server had been abandoned, the duo were once rivals on the chessboard, being on completely seperate sides from each other. However, after the server had been abandoned, they've gotten to get really bored of their rivalry and started to become close.
After bonding and Queenie sharing her interest in bugs, Kinger slowly developed feelings for her. They fell in love, got married from a bishop chess piece, and kept their relationship on the down low from Caine. It wasn't until Caine discovered their relationship in some private chats they've had with each other when he decided to delete Queenie from the game altogether. Kinger still holds fond memories of Queenie, even after she'd been long gone.
Your lead beast (which you can change at any time) will be engaging with these NPCs in every interaction, and both your beast and the NPC will show up on the screen during dialogue. Their expressions will change depending on choices made during dialogue selection.
These expressions are generated based the code from the Beast Creator. They will not show a beast's Gear, Apparel, or Glamours.
As of now the art team has completed all Specials and Supers for the adult and young Griffin bases!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At a future point, we plan on adding the expressions to the Beast Creator demo. We will announce this feature at a later date.
Companion Codex
As we've started to accumulate a good number of Companions for Mythaura, including many created thanks to generous Ko-fi and Patreon sponsors, we thought it'd be a good idea to put them all in one place for people to look at. To that end, we've created a Companion Codex page!
Each Companion will have its key information available for viewing, including:
Element
Standard and Radiant colorations
Size (with an average-sized adult Ryu for reference)
Description
Ability to zoom into image
We will be gradually adding more Companions as we finalize their sizes in the back end. When we add them, we'll share them in the #mini-updates channel in the Discord server.
NOTE: We are aware of a visual bug in Firefox when viewing companions. This is a bug in Firefox itself, and we will attempt to find a workaround for Firefox users. In the meantime, we recommend using Google Chrome or Safari to view the Companion Codex page.
Tumblr media
What up, libsharts. Since you all fell for my brilliant social experiment last year, I thought I’d come back to troll you for another round. You really thought that I was gay, huh? Well, you weren’t the only ones. I showed it to the bros in my Elon Musk Discord server, and they stupidly went “Wow, that was pretty gay” and I said “No it isn’t” and one guy said “You said that you’re attracted to Rick a bunch of times” and I said “No I didn’t” and another guy said “Dude, you said the exact same thing yesterday” and I said “No I didn’t” and he said “You literally showed up out of nowhere, said ‘im going to jack it to rick tonight lol’ and left” and I said “Haha, it was all a social experiment! I’m fucking with you! I’m a master manipulator like Rick! What’s gay about what I said? If somebody on Discord said ‘I want Rick Sanchez to ream me in the back room at Spencer’s’ and you thought ‘Wow, that sounds pretty gay,’ maybe YOU’RE the one who has dreams about Rick railing you in a blow-up inflatable pool while Bird Person lies facedown in a ditch!”
I beat them with cold, hard logic, just like Rick would. But one aspect of my genius experiment was true: I’m a dudebro sent here to infiltrate Tumblr. We do everything better than you, and to prove it, I wrote a fic that’s infinitely superior to anything you Tumblrinas could shit out. You think you’re the only ones who can come up with stories? Ha! You’re never going to beat me. You ass clowns have no idea how many times I’ve fantasized about Rick!
Anyway, here’s my one-shot that’s better than a thousand Rick Sanchez/Reader fics combined, and I would know, because I read all of them. And this is NOT AI-generated, by the way–no machine could compete with the brilliance pulsating in my brain stem. Get obliterated with literature, dumbfucks!
Your Majesty: Rick Sanchez/Elon Musk (PLATONIC!!)
Elon Musk gazed at the sky as a spaceship shimmered into view, glittering in the sunlight while it approached the SpaceX landing strip. Elon–or E, as his most respected admirers called him–was a ruggedly handsome man of over six feet tall with a chiseled jaw, godlike facial features, sizeable muscles and a full head of hair that one would love to run their hands through–if they were allowed to, of course. But few people had enjoyed this privilege. In both a literal and metaphorical sense, Elon Musk was truly untouchable.
A SpaceX rocket launched to the left of him, undoubtedly on another successful mission, but E’s eyes were fixed on the giant spaceship drifting to the ground with a barely audible whirr. The Tesla logo glinted on the front of the incredible ship, a mark of Elon’s brilliance. Steam hissed from the entrance as the side door opened and a lengthy shadow stretched across the ground.
“Greetings, Elon,” Rick Sanchez said as he approached. He was just as handsome as Musk, perhaps even more so. At nearly seven feet tall, most humans could only gaze up at him and marvel at his unfathomable genius, matched only by that of the engineer standing in front of him. He strode magnificently toward E as if he knew that he were God’s perfect creation, the scientist that would give Stephen Hawking envy diarrhea.
“Salutations, Rick,” E answered in kind, acknowledging the pleasure of being in his presence. “What do you have for me?”
“I have a concept that will revolutionize our lives and showcase our brilliance to the rest of the planet.” Rick paused. “Nay, the entire galaxy. Alien species will look up at us in wonder as they question how Earth could have produced not one, but two, of the universe’s perfect beings.”
Musk flashed him a smile brimming with boyish charm. “It seems, as I’ve suspected many times, that you and I are the main characters in this simulation, and everyone else–girls and normies in particular–are mere NPCs.”
“This is true, but I can’t take credit for all of it,” Rick admitted. “While most of this idea was mine, I confess that I couldn’t have developed this plan without Tesla’s impressive technology.”
“You are too humble,” E said with a nod of his head. “Of course, none of this would have been possible without your technology that turned Tesla into the pinnacle of human achievement, a stunning display of masculine brilliance and prowess that womenfolk could never accomplish because they’re dumb.”
“You are familiar with my Raising Gazorpazorp manifesto, I presume?”
“Of course, Rick. I have watched every moment of your life with intense fascination. Our Twitter interaction all those years ago was the highlight of my existence, moreso than the birth of every one of my children combined, and it compelled the author of this story to jerk off to it even though we’re both men.”
“He was imagining all the hot chicks that he sucked off in his fraternity, I’m sure.”
“Undoubtedly. Now, if you would, please lead me into the ship so that I can witness your latest intellectual conquest.”
“Follow me, Your Majesty,” Rick responded with a limp-wristed wave that was stunningly, incredibly heterosexual.
The door hissed shut behind them as E followed Rick into the ship. Since Rick had partnered with Tesla a year prior, his ship had become a sprawling technological wonder full of everything that the space traveler could possibly need. Only E could have done this, Rick thought to himself, as he gazed around the interior of the ship as if seeing it for the first time. Truly, being in the presence of his hero reminded him of his incredible fortune.
Rick’s ship, once small and held together with duct tape but an astonishing creation nonetheless, now housed five scientific laboratories stocked with alien technology that Rick and E had amassed on their many adventures together. His ship also possessed a gigantic library, a hologram room where he spoke with digital recreations of Earth’s greatest MALE scientists, a math classroom where he solved and invented equations, a Tesla think tank where shareholders held board meetings, a SpaceX rocket manufacturing plant, and a cafeteria that served exclusively reheated taquitos and Mountain Dew.
Elon felt the same way as Rick. He couldn’t keep his eyes off the scientist as they walked to one of the laboratories. Of course, this was done in a completely straight, masculine way. E thought that he would later have sex with lots of beautiful women that looked a little like Rick, but they weren’t Rick, because that would be gay.
“Here it is, my dear E,” Rick said, spreading out his arms in front of him like a Greek god.
A scale model of a glass dome stood on a pedestal with tiny figures moving inside to represent a community. As E peered into the dome, the glass reflected his breathtakingly handsome features.
“This is the community that we will build on Pluto,” Rick announced. “As you’ve undoubtedly guessed already due to your unfathomable genius, those crystals in the center release pheromones that will cause the most beautiful women in the universe to flock to us while the ugly ones stay at home and cry about it on Tumblr. These beauties will fawn over and make out with us while we chug Mountain Dew and watch video game livestreams where one guy just says ‘BANG!’ over and over. One of our wives will microwave taquitos on demand while another will periodically wipe the sweat off our gaming chairs. Truly, we will be the gods of our own universe.”
E smiled at this thought. He had colonized Mars years ago and had no less than 1,000 Martian wives with male relatives who had invested in E-Coin, his genuis cryptocurrency that only tech bros could understand, but he now saw an opportunity to enter the NFT market. Any male would be delighted to own a digital representation of one of these alien Helens of Troy. And of course, who but Rick should be at his side? Who else but the god-like scientist who deserved to have dominion over every living being in existence?
“If you have a minute, E–” Rick began, then stopped. “You do have a minute, don’t you? As the owner and CEO of X, PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, OpenAI, Neuralink, xAI, Midjourney, OpenSea, Adult Swim, Dogecoin, McDonald’s, Fox News, The Joe Rogan Experience, Funko Pops, Discord, and Harmontown, I realize that your time is so precious that one second with you is worth ten kilos of fine Neptunian gold.”
Once more, Elon flashed his iconic boyish grin. “Rick, don’t you know me by now? If I weren’t a man of science who understood the natural disasters that it would cause, I would stop the world from spinning on its axis just to spend another minute in your presence.”
Rick responded with a flushed smile, then pressed a button on the side of the display. “Then allow me to demonstrate.”
When a set of steel doors slid open, a girl robot emerged from the storage space. I guess she was attractive for a girl. In her extended arms, she held a glass case piled high with shimmering jewels.
“This is a scale model of one of our Plutonian wives,” Rick said intelligently, lifting the case from her hands. “In preparation for our mission, I’ve amassed a fine collection of intergalactic space jewelry.”
Rick typed in a code to unlock the case: 42069. 420 and 69 were Rick’s favorite numbers, as well as Elon’s. The gemstones glinted in the light as the lid clicked open. Rick attached the earrings and kissed the robot’s ears, slid on the bracelets and kissed her wrists, and strung on the necklace and kissed her neck. He looked amazing in that jewelry.
“Well, Rick, this calls for quite the celebration,” E said cheerfully. “Should we celebrate with a bottle of Twitterian space wine?
“Of course,” Rick said with a wink. “What do you think I stashed in the wine cooler?”
Rick pressed a button on the wall, causing a drawer to slide out with a hiss and a cloud of steam. The steam dissipated to reveal a sparkling bottle of golden wine and two identical glasses with Rick and Elon’s names etched into the side. Rick handed Elon one of the glasses, the surface reflecting his Adonis-like visage.
“Let’s take this to the lounge, shall we?” Rick said. “I could use some quality time with my technological muse, the scientist whose mere existence transformed my life the second I laid eyes upon him.”
“Ah, but the feeling is mutual,” Elon confessed. “When I first saw you in that Tesla board meeting and realized that you had invested in our stock, I knew that I had reached the defining moment of my career, the pinnacle of achievement that made everything else seem like watching an orangutan pissing into a lake.”
“Your affections charm and dazzle me,” Rick responded. “I may go on adventures alone when you’re busy transforming X into history’s greatest social media empire, but I confess that my travels are incomplete without you by my side.”
“I will have to take a break from X to join you on the next mission,” E said with a nod. “After all, we have not yet had sex with all the hot babes in the universe. We’ve had sex with most of them, this is true, but I’m sure there are far-off corners of the galaxy that have yet to hear the legend of Rick and Elon: a hundred years, a hundred more, our friendship extending into eternity.”
A few minutes later, the two of them were reclining in a lounge furnished with plush velvet couches, Greek statues of famous scientists, and a bubbling hot tub. Rick and Elon had slept with many hot alien chicks in this lounge, but they didn’t really enjoy it even though they were both straight. One might say that they were super-straight. It was a special type of straight that only their genius minds could possess.
Elon and Musk clinked their glasses before they each took a drink. “While we’re here, should we engage in some meta commentary?” E said with a sly chuckle.
“Of course,” Rick said, straightening to look at the reader. “I would like to say that the author of this fic is an incredibly handsome, virile, and heterosexual man, and if I were gay and he were gay–which we’re not, of course–I would love to take my pants off and sit on his face while he recites mathematical theorems.”
“I concur,” E said with a tilt of his head. “I also find this author to be quite attractive, brilliant and god-like, and although I’m super-straight, I would be up for a threesome with you, him, and I in a truck stop bathroom while some other guys watch.”
“Truly, that would be the spectacle of a lifetime,” Rick said with a charming, boyish grin. “Of course, this is impossible because I’m straight as well as white and neurotypical, and whenever I said otherwise, I was in fact performing a social experiment on my audience.”
“I, too, have done such a thing,” Elon agreed. “And Birdrick is platonic, is it not?”
“Birdrick is indeed platonic. Anyone who thought that scene was gay needs to watch some gay porn and learn what ‘gay’ really means, which this author does on a regular basis.”
They nodded in agreement, then drank their glittering space wine as the sun set outside the ship, casting the inside of the lounge in a deep, romantic glow. Rick lit a set of Tesla candles powered by Teslectricity, a new form of electricity that Musk had patented. The lights shimmered and flickered as if the candles were about to explode any second.
Orange light shined on the surface of the water bubbling in the hot tub. “It’s growing warm in here,” Rick said, fanning himself with his strong yet elegant hand. “I think I need to remove a few layers. Excuse me, E, while I change into something other than my iconic lab coat.”
Rick disappeared into another room and returned a few minutes later, wearing only a bathrobe. Elon rubbed the back of his neck as he found himself sweating. Suddenly, the temperature seemed to have increased a hundred degrees.
“I believe that I will also remove a few layers,” E stated. “Excuse me for a moment.”
E disappeared into the same room, which had several robes and outfits in his size just in case he lost his clothes for some weird reason. The room also held outfits for other prominent male scientists, plus Dan Harmon. The room had no clothing for womenfolk because they’re gross and dumb.
When Elon returned, Rick sat on the edge of the hot tub, drawing circles in the surface of the water with his toe as he swirled the remainder of the wine in his glass. His eyes were lowered with an expression that one could almost consider lustful–his thoughts full of girlies, no doubt, even though they scarcely deserved a moment of his attention.
“I’m thinking about taking a dip in the hot tub,” Rick said. “Would you care to join me?”
“Of course,” E said, already removing his robe. “I desire nothing else in this moment.”
HAHA noobs, you thought you had it all figured out, didn’t you? You thought this was going to lead to some gay shit? Well, I’ll tell you what happens. Rick and Elon PLATONICALLY sit in the hot tub together. That’s all that they do. And they talk about all the babes that they’re going to make out with when Rick gets his crap on Pluto set up. Yeah, that’s right, libpukes: Rick likes GIRLS even though they’re stupid and dumb and don’t understand Rick and Morty! No one will ever understand Rick Sanchez like I do! Not Elon Musk, despite his unfathomable brilliance! Not Dan Harmon, despite his magnificent beard! No one but me, Steve White, the man of every scientist’s dreams!
Anyway, I just proved to you that the woke crowd took over the writers’ room and made Rick something he’s not. This story is more accurate and in character than every episode from seasons 5-7 put into a blender, spun around and spewed onto a plate like a horse vomit smoothie. Rick was once a manly, masculine man–a man’s man, you might say–before they turned him into a twink like they’re challenging the audience to jerk off to him.
I told the guys in my Elon Musk server “Wow, Rick and Morty has been a real jerkoff machine lately, huh?” and they said “No? Not really?” and I said “What show are you watching? Rick and Morty has been a total jerkoff machine” and one guy said “Yeah, I agree with you, I jack it to Rick on the regular” and I said “Haha, I was just fucking with you guys! It was another social experiment! I’m a master manipulator! I’m the real-life Rick! What’s gay about what I said? While you queers jack it to Rick in a gay way, I’m going to jack off to Rick to PROVE TO MYSELF that I’m STRAIGHT!!!”
I got banned from the server for a week, and I had so much time on my hands that I decided I’d pop back in and give Tumblr another textual ass-crushing. The server’s going to be so proud of me when I tell them what I did. Elon would be proud. Dan Harmony-to-my-ears would be proud. And Rick would DEFINITELY be proud. If my Rick Sanchez body pillow were animated, he’d look directly into my eyes and whisper to me as tears of joy stream down my face.
Oh my God, forget it. Why am I still wasting my time with you idiots? You have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty.
anon has some musings... book 2 could have been cool?
imagine if unalaq ran a cult full of people who were possessed by dark spirits? and when korra exorcises one (since shed get that power herself) the ppl r just as believing as unalaq? (which includes the twins mom??)
and korra would LOSE against vaatu and lose all her bending but water... basically turn her normal for her to build herself back up to face the villain (like book 1 but better) and win
If legend of Korra knew it was going to have four books, I am almost certain it would have turned out very different. Imagine having been able to develop Unalaq BEFORE he was going to become a villain. Like, introducing him as one of Korra's teachers already, a character we grow to trust alongside Korra, but turns evil, blah blah blah. As for the cult, I have a feeling they almost went that route with at least Eska and Desna, because it's been said they were originally planning for them to just be spirits masquerading as two people, and they'd disappear when Unalaq dies. I think I guess it would explain their behavior, but I like it more that they're just weird teenagers.
Now I'm imagining, in that scenario you described, Eska and Desna are the reason people begin to suspect that Unaalq is getting spirits to possess people. Then at the end, everyone gets released from the dark spirits, but Eska and Desna are the same. Everyone thinks they're still possessed but its revealed the whole time they are just literally weird people, they were never possessed.
as for in universe logic, a spirit can't possess someone without killing them. I get the sense that the body is shaped by the soul's appearance, so if the physical body contorts to match the combination of spirit + human soul, it becomes unlivable. Maybe I am overthinking it, but, that's how I interpreted it.
Random side note:
I happened to write a little story with a friend in an avatar roleplay server of a rich family that secretly devoured spirits, and died mysteriously leaving only one member behind with that knowledge. Sadly, it wasn't approved because of the use of spirits in the story, which wasn't allowed at the time in that server, so we had to change it, but the original story still kicks ass imo.
The Comprehensive Guide to Web Development, Data Management, and More
Introduction
Everything today is technology driven in this digital world. There's a lot happening behind the scenes when you use your favorite apps, go to websites, and do other things with all of those zeroes and ones — or binary data. In this blog, I will be explaining what all these terminologies really means and other basics of web development, data management etc. We will be discussing them in the simplest way so that this becomes easy to understand for beginners or people who are even remotely interested about technology.  JOIN US
What is Web Development?
Web development refers to the work and process of developing a website or web application that can run in a web browser. From laying out individual web page designs before we ever start coding, to how the layout will be implemented through HTML/CSS. There are two major fields of web development — front-end and back-end.
Front-End Development
Front-end development, also known as client-side development, is the part of web development that deals with what users see and interact with on their screens. It involves using languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the visual elements of a website, such as buttons, forms, and images. JOIN US
HTML (HyperText Markup Language):
HTML is the foundation of all website, it helps one to organize their content on web platform. It provides the default style to basic elements such as headings, paragraphs and links.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets):
styles and formats HTML elements. It makes an attractive and user-friendly look of webpage as it controls the colors, fonts, layout.
JavaScript :
A language for adding interactivity to a website Users interact with items, like clicking a button to send in a form or viewing images within the slideshow. JOIN US
Back-End Development
The difference while front-end development is all about what the user sees, back end involves everything that happens behind. The back-end consists of a server, database and application logic that runs on the web.
Server:
A server is a computer that holds website files and provides them to the user browser when they request it. Server-Side: These are populated by back-end developers who build and maintain servers using languages like Python, PHP or Ruby.
Database:
The place where a website keeps its data, from user details to content and settings The database is maintained with services like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB. JOIN US
Application Logic —
the code that links front-end and back-end It takes user input, gets data from the database and returns right informations to front-end area.
Why Proper Data Management is Absolutely Critical
Data management — Besides web development this is the most important a part of our Digital World. What Is Data Management? It includes practices, policies and procedures that are used to collect store secure data in controlled way.
Data Storage –
data after being collected needs to be stored securely such data can be stored in relational databases or cloud storage solutions. The most important aspect here is that the data should never be accessed by an unauthorized source or breached. JOIN US
Data processing:
Right from storing the data, with Big Data you further move on to process it in order to make sense out of hordes of raw information. This includes cleansing the data (removing errors or redundancies), finding patterns among it, and producing ideas that could be useful for decision-making.
Data Security:
Another important part of data management is the security of it. It refers to defending data against unauthorized access, breaches or other potential vulnerabilities. You can do this with some basic security methods, mostly encryption and access controls as well as regular auditing of your systems.
Other Critical Tech Landmarks
There are a lot of disciplines in the tech world that go beyond web development and data management. Here are a few of them:
Cloud Computing
Leading by example, AWS had established cloud computing as the on-demand delivery of IT resources and applications via web services/Internet over a decade considering all layers to make it easy from servers up to top most layer. This will enable organizations to consume technology resources in the form of pay-as-you-go model without having to purchase, own and feed that infrastructure. JOIN US
Cloud Computing Advantages:
Main advantages are cost savings, scalability, flexibility and disaster recovery. Resources can be scaled based on usage, which means companies only pay for what they are using and have the data backed up in case of an emergency.
Examples of Cloud Services:
Few popular cloud services are Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. These provide a plethora of services that helps to Develop and Manage App, Store Data etc.
Cybersecurity
As the world continues to rely more heavily on digital technologies, cybersecurity has never been a bigger issue. Protecting computer systems, networks and data from cyber attacks is called Cyber security.
Phishing attacks, Malware, Ransomware and Data breaches:
This is common cybersecurity threats. These threats can bear substantial ramifications, from financial damages to reputation harm for any corporation.
Cybersecurity Best Practices:
In order to safeguard against cybersecurity threats, it is necessary to follow best-practices including using strong passwords and two-factor authorization, updating software as required, training employees on security risks.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) represent the fastest-growing fields of creating systems that learn from data, identifying patterns in them. These are applied to several use-cases like self driving cars, personalization in Netflix.
AI vs ML —
AI is the broader concept of machines being able to carry out tasks in a way we would consider “smart”. Machine learning is a type of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that provides computers with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. JOIN US
Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: some common applications include Image recognition, Speech to text, Natural language processing, Predictive analytics Robotics.
Web Development meets Data Management etc.
We need so many things like web development, data management and cloud computing plus cybersecurity etc.. but some of them are most important aspects i.e. AI/ML yet more fascinating is where these fields converge or play off each other.
Web Development and Data Management
Web Development and Data Management goes hand in hand. The large number of websites and web-based applications in the world generate enormous amounts of data — from user interactions, to transaction records. Being able to manage this data is key in providing a fantastic user experience and enabling you to make decisions based on the right kind of information.
E.g. E-commerce Website, products data need to be saved on server also customers data should save in a database loosely coupled with orders and payments. This data is necessary for customization of the shopping experience as well as inventory management and fraud prevention.
Cloud Computing and Web Development
The development of the web has been revolutionized by cloud computing which gives developers a way to allocate, deploy and scale applications more or less without service friction. Developers now can host applications and data in cloud services instead of investing for physical servers.
E.g. A start-up company can use cloud services to roll out the web application globally in order for all users worldwide could browse it without waiting due unavailability of geolocation prohibited access.
The Future of Cybersecurity and Data Management
Which makes Cybersecurity a very important part of the Data management. The more data collected and stored by an organization, the greater a target it becomes for cyber threats. It is important to secure this data using robust cybersecurity measures, so that sensitive information remains intact and customer trust does not weaken. JOIN US
Ex: A healthcare provider would have to protect patient data in order to be compliant with regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) that is also responsible for ensuring a degree of confidentiality between a provider and their patients.
Conclusion
Well, in a nutshell web-developer or Data manager etc are some of the integral parts for digital world.
As a Business Owner, Tech Enthusiast or even if you are just planning to make your Career in tech — it is important that you understand these. With the progress of technology never slowing down, these intersections are perhaps only going to come together more strongly and develop into cornerstones that define how we live in a digital world tomorrow.
With the fundamental knowledge of web development, data management, automation and ML you will manage to catch up with digital movements. Whether you have a site to build, ideas data to manage or simply interested in what’s hot these days, skills and knowledge around the above will stand good for changing tech world. JOIN US
Old RWBY AU description from the Frosen Steel server -troublemakers AU - 12/10/2020
AU of singer!Weiss having two incredibly troublesome fans, a graffiti-loving prankster/streamer and the leader of a troll army. She's tired.
----
The Nail:
lilac — 12/09/2020 11:57 PM
So let's say the nail here is that Ozma and Salem didn't get into a giant war. Somehow their kids lived, so all humanity really needed to deal with is the Grimm without any evolutions on Salem's part. They're still a pain in the arse because the Grimm's strength and numbers are always a little bit less than humanity's.
----
lilac — 12/10/2020 12:14 AM
And in that background, we have Ruby Rose, a streaming traceuse, engineer, and prankster who recently unlocked her semblance much to Atlas's dismay. The logo on her stream is a goose with the caption "i am here to cause problems"
----
lilac — 12/10/2020 12:25 AM
Weiss is a famous pop star in Atlas - still lives in the Schnee Mansion. The Schnee Dust Company no longer existed in its full form; due to the more peaceful world, Atlas put a foot down on monopolies a couple years after Jacques took control and tried making the company as inhumane as possible to increase his profit margins. So he's currently wearing an orange jumpsuit. The family overall is much happier in his absence. Willow divorced the man and rumors say the most eligible bachelorette has been meeting someone clandestinely, drinking together. Which also happens to be part of the reason why Ruby is currently at Atlas lol.
lilac — 12/10/2020 12:30 AM
------
Weiss unlocked her Glyphs but has been using it mostly as fairly expensive special effects. She's described as the fairy of atlas (or whatever name you all can come up with - I'm bad 8l ). Myrtenaster does exist as the girl is a fencer on the side.
As well known as Weiss is though, her musical career has stagnated. Too many artists and singers saturating the market, and she hasn't had any inspiration lately since she's always been insistent on making her own songs.
lilac — 12/10/2020 12:31 AM
-------
lilac — 12/10/2020 12:45 AM
Penny is still developed by Atlasian military but upon realizing Pietro has no intention on making a clearly real girl fight against the enemies of human, Ironwood was like "okay you're right." So Penny doesn't have any of the weaponry and was allowed to live like a child and go to school. She doesn't quite know what she wants to do (maybe lead a sentient robot uprising /j) after schooling, but her dads are open to her doing anything. Her hobby is music and programming, and she's been following the Angel of Atlas since her debut. She is Weiss's self-proclaimed number one fan but more importantly she's her friend. If there is bad stuff about her friend on the internet, she will drown people with a troll army. To Weiss's dismay, a lot of her fans just follow her for the flame wars Penny would cause on her behalf. Lol
Online Penny is super different from offline penny.
"When logic and reason no longer work, what do we do?!"
"Flame them to death!! "
----
lilac — 12/10/2020 1:20 AM
Ruby naturally is our walking, sometimes running, plot device. Wears a cape and a butterfly mask when she's actively streaming and has a button camera on her mask that doesn't work unless she physically wears the mask.
She learns about the Angel of Atlas and quickly falls in love with her work. Soon, super high places in Atlas are demonstrating large areas of grafiti depicting Weiss or a set of angel wings. Even the CCT tower gets the treatment.
Sooner or later, she declares herself the number one fan online which Penny takes offense to. Cue flame war between the two lol. Weiss had to log in to stop them from wrecking the local server with their war.
Essentially Ruby's chaos-loving followers versus Penny's troll army.
---
They eventually learn to not fight on Weiss's server. And instead find that holding flame wars on the sites and servers of Weiss's haters is a more productive thing to do. To the dismay of their leaders, eventually the trolls and chaos lovers become one happy family. The only thing that came out good was the chaos-lovers becoming Weiss fans…not for the music but because Weiss's name is now synonymous for troublesome.
"Thanks, guys."
"Sorry. orz."
"I'm sorry" (edited)
---------
One day, Ruby goes to Weiss online all "maybe ill meet you in the middle of the night. just pop in."
Weiss: "so you're telling me to hire more guards."
Ruby: "don't worry. They won't be able to separate us. I'll be there tonight. ^_~"
Weiss: asdsddrfffssd
Penny: !!!
So that night Penny grabs a simplified form of Floating Array and installs it. She picks up a cat mask and uses FR to move past buildings like Spiderman.
Destination: weiss's home to protect her virtue
------------------
lilac — 12/11/2020 12:56 AM
So back to the streamer / troll army AU:
Penny goes off to the Schnee Mansion and is spider-manning her way there while wearing a cat mask. mission? Protect her idol's virtue from the red-wearing weirdo.
She arrives. Ruby's already spray painting a set of wings on the mansion.
"I'll protect Weiss from your foul clutches!"
"Who are you again?"
"I am Weiss's number one fan!"
"No that's me! You're that troll girl! I'm going to beat you down."
"What did you say to me? I'll have you know that I graduated in top of my class in the Atlasian Military, and I've been in multiple search and destroy missions involving the Grimm, and I have 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in antipersonnel warfare, and I'm the top hand-to-hand specialist in all of Atlas. You are ju-"
Ruby interrupts her with a paint bomb.
Penny is rainbow-colored now.
Cue angry shrieking and then awkward fighting because neither girl has fought before. Meanwhile….
Whitley: hello police ? There's two crazy girls fighting on our lawn…and there's paint and glitter everywhere
Weiss wakes up from all the racket. She sees the paint and glitter all over the house and lawn, realizes who the two probably are, and angrily pulls out a training epee. She runs out yelling. (edited)
-------------------------------
Before long, she's sitting on top of the two because unlike Ruby and Penny she's had formal training. Her eye is twitching from the arts and crafts disaster that's become her home. She turns on the full force of her bossiness.
"Wei-"
"Salu-"
"I've been chauffering my mom and her infuriating date all day today. Then I had to deal with my manager and why i haven't come up with more songs. And then you both come wake me up at one in the morning, turning my entire home into a preschool art project! You WILL clean up the mess you made or so help me god…"
She just screams out in anger, making the other two hug each other in fear. After she stalks off, the other two notice their position and quickly pull away from each other. They then grudgingly work together to clean the lawn and house and repair the damage they made.
The police do arrive but are turned around by Klein who tells them everything is under control.
After they're mostly done, Klein invites the two to stay at the manor, since it's late and not safe - though for him, it's an excuse to have Weiss interact with kids her age in a non-backstabby-rival-singer way. Naturally, the two excitedly accept.
----
lilac — 12/14/2020 9:36 AM
Back to troll Penny, singer Weiss, streaming prankster Ruby:
Klein invites the uninvited guests to stay the night after they clean up the mess they made of the Schnee mansion.
The next day, Ruby and Penny were unable to get any sleep, mostly cause they are all "omg I'm sleeping in my idol's home." So come morning, they're both exhausted and meet each other in the hall. Penny and Ruby share a pleased smile behind their masks before they recall they're supposed to be hostile to each other, cause both of them consider themselves as Weiss's number one fan.
Klein sees them and leads them to the dining room for breakfast, where they find a delicious spread. Whitley's already there, kinda wondering why the crazy girls he called the police on earlier are eating here, but given Klein invited them, they couldnt be that dangerous.
As all three of them eat, Weiss comes in mostly in pajamas and some bedhead, clearly dazed and drowsy. For one, she doesnt even notice the pair on the table. Whitley looks at Weiss and the two girls with an amused face. Ruby and Penny don't even know what to say as Weiss just goes about her business, mostly like a zombie with Klein helpfully putting food on her plate and most importantly an industrial-sized mug of coffee. She just eats and drinks what's on her plate before going back the way she came.
Whitley watches on with amused anticipation.
The girls are wondering if she's deliberately ignoring them when they see her collide with the wall beside the doorway. Before they could ask if she's okay, Weiss just dazedly steps back and walks through the hall instead.
Whitley's giggling, and when the girls look at him, he just says, "every morning. Like clockwork."
Pirate Software's "rearchitecture" for Stop Killing Games
There's been a lot of fascinating drama around Stop Killing Games. Go read the initiative here:
It is a good initiative, and anyone who is a consumer that can, should absolutely go support it.
Jason "Thor" Hall, CEO of Pirate Software, recently had a few, let's say, "takes" on the matter (I'm trying and failing to remain neutral), which began on a stream. The stream's VOD has since deleted on his YouTube channel.
Louis Rossmann, who you might know as the largest Right to Repair activist in the US, made a response to a section of the releevant stream here:
youtube
Thor, CEO of Pirate Software, made two videos to clarify his points:
youtube
There is an argument in the video at the 2:08 mark that I will reference later.
youtube
(I recommend watching all these videos on 2x speed. You will get the same info out of them all, because especially video 2 is a lot of repetition)
Now, as mentioned above, there is one particular technical argument that bugs me about what Thor, CEO of Pirate Software, is making. Here is the full quote:
How would you keep League of Legends in a functional, playable state? You'd have to rearchitect the entire game. The game is what is called "client-server". So, in client-server models, there's a server, there's a client, and all of the math, all of the game, everything happens on the server. The client just displays it. And the reason we want to do it that way is so that you can't teleport around and do a billion damage. You don't trust the client. You trust the server. The client just displays what it's told. Right? So, if we wanted to rearchitect this, we would have to take all of that server logic, push it back out into the client, and somehow make that playable in a multiplayer-only video game. That doesn't make sense to me. So this doesn't work for all games. Why is [the initiative] calling out all games?
So, first off, yes, most games do client-server architecture for multiplayer logic, because you do trust the servers. It is an important step to curbing an entire class of cheats. It doesn't necessarily mean the client isn't malicious (for example, there are cheats for League of Legends that show a growing circle when an enemy leaves the fog of war in the minimap). However, it does mean the client doesn't know 100% of the game at any time when information is selectively fed to each client based on something like the fog of war. That's awesome.
Some games, like PlanetSide (rest in peace) and Overwatch (2) use what's called client-side hit detection. Some games, like Halo 1, employ more selective hit detection models, where only certain weapons use client-side hit detection (see https://c20.reclaimers.net/h1/engine/netcode/). Client-side versus server-side hit detection can change the overall feel of a game, and it's one of the things game developers decide on in multiplayer-only games that require it. In the case of an massively multiplayer online first person shooter (MMOFPS) like PlanetSide (2), the server simply can't calculate thousands of people's math in a reasonable amount of time, because otherwise the hit detection would otherwise feel very crappy to play, and so the math is offloaded to the client and the client says "hit" when they hit.
However, there are a few counterexamples to the specific technical argument that keeping the game playable after end-of-lifing it requires rearchitecting:
Games with dedicated servers exist - Command & Conquer: Renegade, Starsiege: TRIBES
Games where one client also hosts the multiplayer server exist - Half Life 2, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
Private server hosting exists - World of Warcraft
Some of these games, particularly the examples with dedicated servers that can be run on user hardware, can also run as the second example.
To say keeping a multiplayer-only online game requires rearchitecting a game like League of Legends means a lack of imagination. More relevantly, it means a lack of systems thinking.
To me, it is very strange for someone such as Thor, CEO of Pirate Software, who is self-described as being a 20 year veteran of the games industry to say. I won't say skill issue, because I think there is an ulterior motive at play.
Just to hammer the point home, I drew up some crappy diagrams in Inkscape because this extremely wrong technical argument bugged me so, so much.
Here is what a client-server model looks like:
Tumblr media
Here, you have 10 clients, each being a player of the game. Then, you have the server, run by Riot, the developer and maintainer of League of Legends.
Here is the imagination of Thor, CEO of Pirate Software, had to say on the matter on the required way rearchitect it:
Tumblr media
Those who know their network models would understand this looks very much like a mesh network, or a peer-to-peer model. And, to be fair, some games might attempt it.
However, this isn't *usually* how games described using a peer-to-peer (P2P) model work. Most peer-to-peer models, like the architecture used in Space Marines, are often used for matchmaking. Once you are in a game, one of the clients also serves as the host (selecting by some algorithm, like randomly or whoever has the best hardware).
P2P is nice, because the company doesn't have to run servers for matchmaking at all during their lifespan (and sometimes a matchmaking server might be spun up to serve as a relay to help with network issues or help other clients find clients quickly). As we'll get into later, a client machine will also serve as the host machine. It is a perfectly fair and valid, although it comes with it's frustrations (mainly in the realm of network address translation (NAT) traversal, because your computer behind a router is not usually exposed to the wider Internet, though sometimes routers have universal plug-and-play (UPnP) set up, which makes NAT traversal much easier here).
If you've ever seen a message in the game "migrating host" because the host left, they likely use P2P matchmaking, but still use a client-server model. They can just migrate the game data to a new host using the data on the other clients as a seed for the data.
This is likely their setup for actual gameplay:
Tumblr media
One of the clients now has a server on the same machine. Sometimes, this could be the game itself that would serve in singleplayer. However, most often, this is just a server that's lightweight enough for the client to connect to and they play that way (it's also really nice to develop and QA this way, because many server bugs will also be seen by the client).
Now, one of the disadvantages here is: Can all remote clients connect to the host that the server (and one of the clients) is running on? Again, NAT traversal issues usually play a role here. In the first few days of any game that uses this, and only this, there will likely be a lot of issues with connectivity.
Another disadvantage: The host won't have latency issues. This is why in the case of, for example, Among Us, the client host can see certain things happening (like someone is dead the moment they hit a button or reported a body), but remote player hosts might not.
Okay, so, maybe it's not possible to rearchitect something like League of Legends like this. It could reasonably be a lot of work. Here is another solution:
Tumblr media
Looks very similar to the first architecture, doesn't it? It is! The difference is that the text "Riot" was changed to "not Riot".
This is how World of Warcraft and Pokemon Go private servers work.
The vast majority of games that would not run without private servers simply do not require rearchitecting to keep in a reasonably playable state when the servers shut down.
Full Stack Developer vs. Front End Developer vs. Back End Developer
Tumblr media
The role of a web developer is always included in the lists of high-paying IT jobs. This is because web developers are essential in today’s digital world. They create amazing websites, high-performing e-commerce sites, and other web-based applications. If you want to be a web developer, you must understand that full-stack developer skills are in great demand. However, do you understand the differences between full-stack, front-end, and back-end web development? In this post, we’ll see the differences between these three job roles, skills, and salaries.
What is Web Development?
The process of developing a website on the internet is known as web development. The non-design components of a website, such as building features and functioning with programming, markup, and scripting languages, are referred to as web development. Developers focus on technical aspects of website development such as architecture, programming, and application integration, as well as visuals.
A web developer is someone who does the following:
Creates and maintains webpages and other web-based applications.
Creates a website from a web design.
They collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and designers to understand the concept.
Can focus on frontend or backend development. Even as a full-stack developer, if necessary.
Types of Web Development
Front End Development: This aspect of web development focuses on what the user interacts with directly, i.e., the user interface of a website or web application. Front-end development deals with the design, layout, and interactivity of a site, ensuring that it’s visually appealing and user-friendly.
Back End Development: The back end is the part of a website or application that operates behind the scenes. It manages data, user authentication, and the server-side logic, ensuring the smooth functioning of the website.
Now, let’s delve into each of these roles in detail.
What is front-end development?
Front-end development, often referred to as client-side development, is the process of creating the visual elements of a website or web application that users interact with directly. It involves writing code for the user interface, optimizing website performance, and ensuring the site looks and functions correctly on various devices and browsers.
Who is a front-end developer?
A front-end developer, also known as a client-side developer, is responsible for turning web designs into a functioning website or application. They work closely with web designers and back-end developers to create an engaging and responsive user experience.
What are the front-end developer’s skills?
Front-end developers should be proficient in the following skills:
Mastery of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is fundamental for structuring and styling web pages.
Proficiency in JavaScript is crucial for adding interactivity and dynamic features to a website.
Knowledge of front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js, which simplify and expedite development.
The ability to create websites that look and function well on various devices and screen sizes.
Ensuring that the website performs consistently across different browsers.
Familiarity with version control systems like Git for code management and collaboration.
Front End Developer Salary
The salary of a front-end developer can vary based on factors such as experience, location, and the company. On average, junior front-end developers can earn between $50,000 and $70,000 annually, while senior front-end developers can command salaries ranging from $90,000 to $120,000 or more.
What is Back End Development?
Back-end development, often referred to as server-side development, focuses on the server and database sides of a website or web application. It involves building and maintaining the server, databases, and applications that enable the front end to function correctly.
Who is a Back End Developer?
A back-end developer is responsible for managing the server, databases, and server-side logic of a website or application. They ensure that data is stored securely, accessed efficiently, and transmitted effectively between the front end and back end.
What are Back End Developer Skills?
Back-end developers should have expertise in the following areas:
Server-Side Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages such as Python, Ruby, Node.js, PHP, or Java is used to build server-side applications.
Databases: Knowledge of database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and NoSQL databases.
APIs: The ability to create and manage APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for communication between the front end and back end.
Server Management: Skills in managing web servers and server infrastructure.
Security: Understanding web security practices and techniques to protect user data.
Version Control/Git: Proficiency in version control systems to manage and collaborate on code.
Back End Developer Salary
Back-end developer salaries can also vary based on experience, location, and the organization. Junior back-end developers can earn an annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $90,000, while senior back-end developers can expect salaries ranging from $100,000 to $150,000 or more.
Frontend vs. Backend Development
Front-end and back-end development are two halves of a whole, and they must work together seamlessly to create a functional website or application. While front-end developers focus on user interface and design, back-end developers deal with the underlying server infrastructure and data management. Both roles are essential for a successful web project.
Tumblr media
What is a Full Stack Developer?
Tumblr media
Who is a Full Stack Developer?
A full stack developer is a well-rounded professional who can take care of every aspect of web development, from designing the user interface to managing databases and server-side logic. They bridge the gap between front end and back-end development, ensuring that the entire application functions cohesively.
What are the Full Stack Developer Skills?
Full stack developers need a broad range of skills, including:
HTML/CSS: Proficiency in front end technologies for web page structuring and styling.
JavaScript: Mastery of JavaScript for creating dynamic and interactive web elements.
Front End Frameworks: Knowledge of front-end frameworks for efficient development.
Server-Side Programming Languages: Expertise in languages like Node.js, Python, Ruby, or Java for server-side development.
Databases: Proficiency in database management systems for data storage and retrieval.
APIs: Ability to create and manage APIs for communication between the front end and back end.
Version Control/Git: Familiarity with version control systems for code management.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize web applications.
Full Stack Developer Salary
Full-stack web developers are in high demand due to their range of skills and extensive knowledge. An average full stack developer’s annual salary might range from $110,000 to $150,000, based on their skill set and expertise.
Full-stack engineers earn more money than front end or back end developers. Employers agree to pay more for a full stack developer since it makes more business sense to hire one person with front and back end expertise rather than two.
As a result, the profession of a full stack developer is a profitable alternative for aspirants looking to create a career in the digital business.
The choice between becoming a full stack developer, front end developer, or back end developer depends on your interests, strengths, and career goals. Front end developers excel at creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces; back end developers focus on the server-side and data management; and full stack developers possess a comprehensive skill set that allows them to manage the entire development process. Each role is integral to the web development ecosystem, and the right one for you depends on your passions and aspirations within the field.
