Tony paused, visibly deflated. "You think?"

"Absolutely," Pepper chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Look, just be genuine. Admit you're learning. He'll appreciate the effort."

"Effort?" Tony scoffed lightly, trying to regain his bravado. "Effort is me building an AI in two days. Literature, sociology…That's basically another language, Pep."

"And he's fluent," she reminded gently. "Just talk to him. Ask him to teach you something."

When Tony arrived at your office later that afternoon, you looked up, surprised to see him clutching a copy of Gatsby like it was his lifeline. "Stark," you smiled warmly, leaning back comfortably in your chair. "I didn't peg you for a Fitzgerald fan."

"Well," Tony hesitated, then sheepishly admitted, "I'm not. But you are, and I figured—well, I mean, Pepper figured—it might be my way to convince you to go out with me." You laughed—a sound so genuine and light that Tony felt his heart leap in a way no reactor could replicate.

"Tony Stark, using literature as his pick-up line?" you teased gently, eyes sparkling. "That's…actually pretty adorable."

"Adorable?" Tony feigned offense, though his relieved grin gave him away. "I was going for impressive."

You stood, stepping around your desk to stand closer, causing Tony's pulse to quicken. "Trust me," you assured, voice softer, "adorable is better."

"So…" Tony cleared his throat, heart hammering as your proximity made him dizzy in the best possible way. "Dinner?"

"Dinner," you agreed, taking the novel from his hand with gentle amusement. "And I'll help you with Fitzgerald."

"I'd like that," Tony admitted softly, realizing for once that being out of his depth was exactly where he wanted to be—at least with you.

The buzz in the arena was palpable as fans eagerly gathered for warmups. Nico Hischier skated onto the ice, his eyes scanning the sea of faces and signs pressed against the glass. Some were typical: “Go Devils!” and “Marry Me, Nico!” But one sign stood out, written in bold German:

**"Nico, testet mich auf Deutsch, ob ich alles richtig sagen kann, dann bekomme ich einen Puck. Wenn du gewinnst, bekommst du 20 $."**

Nico grinned. He loved seeing fans embrace his native language, and this challenge intrigued him. As he looped around the ice, he made his way toward the girl holding the sign. She was bundled in a Devils hoodie, her cheeks flushed with excitement. Nico tapped his stick against the glass, catching her attention. Her eyes widened, and she started jumping up and down, her enthusiasm infectious.

He leaned in, his voice muffled slightly by the glass. “Du willst also auf Deutsch getestet werden?” His eyes sparkled with amusement.

The girl nodded eagerly. “Ja! Ich bin bereit.”

Nico chuckled, resting his stick on his shoulder as he thought of a quick question. “Okay, wie sagt man auf Deutsch: ‘I love watching hockey’?”

She didn’t miss a beat. “Ich liebe es, Eishockey zu schauen.”

Nico tilted his head, clearly impressed. “Nicht schlecht. Noch eine: Was bedeutet ‘Schlittschuhe’?”

She grinned, her confidence growing. “Skates!”

“Sehr gut!” Nico smiled, leaning in closer. “Aber weißt du was? Statt einem Puck… wie wäre es mit meiner Nummer und meinem Schläger?”

Her jaw dropped, and her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of pink. “Wirklich?” she whispered, her voice full of disbelief.

“Wirklich,” Nico replied with a wink before skating off to finish warmups.

Throughout the game, Y/N’s heart raced every time Nico was on the ice. He was playing with a fire she hadn’t seen before, skating hard, passing sharply, and even getting an assist. When the final buzzer sounded, the Devils had secured a hard-fought win.

True to his word, Nico skated over to the bench, grabbed his stick, and wrote his number on the shaft with a bold Sharpie. With a sly smile, he tossed it over the glass right to her. The crowd around Y/N erupted in cheers and laughter as she caught it, her hands trembling slightly.

On the stick was written: **“Ruf mich an, Y/N 😉 - Nico”**

She laughed, holding the stick close. “Danke, Nico!” she yelled, her voice carrying over the noise.

He shot her a quick salute before disappearing down the tunnel.

Later that evening, Y/N sat in her apartment, the game stick resting against the wall. Her phone buzzed beside her; she had debated for hours whether to text him. Finally, she typed out a message in German.

**Y/N:** *Hallo Nico, hier ist Y/N. Vielen Dank für den Schläger und die unglaubliche Nacht!*

His reply came almost immediately.

**Nico:** *Hallo Y/N! Es war mir eine Freude. Hast du deine 20 Dollar schon gezahlt? 😜*

**Y/N:** *Noch nicht, aber du hast sie verdient! Vielleicht überreiche ich sie dir persönlich?*

**Nico:** *Klingt gut. Was hältst du von einem Kaffee morgen? Wir können weiter auf Deutsch üben.*

Her heart skipped a beat. **Y/N:** *Ich bin dabei. Wo und wann?*

Nico sent the details, and the next morning, they met at a cozy café downtown. He was already waiting, his Devils cap pulled low, but his smile lit up when she walked in.

“Hallo,” he said, standing to greet her. “Bereit für die nächste Deutschstunde?”

Y/N laughed, sliding into the seat across from him. “Nur wenn du bereit bist, mir alles über Eishockey beizubringen.”

Over the next few hours, they talked and laughed, switching effortlessly between German and English. Nico shared stories from his hockey career, and Y/N told him about her love for languages and how she had started learning German as a hobby. The connection was immediate and electric.

By the end of the morning, Nico hesitated before speaking. “Weißt du, Y/N, ich habe nicht nur den Schläger gestern Abend geworfen, weil ich mein Versprechen halten wollte. Ich wollte sicherstellen, dass ich dich wiedersehe.”

Her smile was soft and genuine. “Und ich bin froh, dass du es getan hast.”

From that day forward, their bond grew stronger with every text, every call, and every shared moment. Nico was no longer just her favorite player—he became her favorite person. And it all started with a sign, a challenge, and a little bit of German.

Books the LoTR characters would read:

First of all, a disclaimer: this is my own opinion and I will not care if you think otherwise. Second of all, I always gift books to my friends and family, and I've never got a complaint, so that has to count for something. I'm also putting some of my favourite books but that's just me of course ♡

Frodo:

Sloggiest classical high fantasy books you can find. Yknow these '90s fantasy books with like eleven books in a series, and each book is at least 500 pages long? He would love that.

I'm currently reading the first book of Crown of Stars (seven books baby), which is like an alternate fantasy medieval Europe, with lots of details and research done and it's super gritty and entertaining. Frodo would inhale that. The rest of the Fellowship are worried for him, they haven't seen him in days.

Sam:

Fantasy and poetry because he's cool like that.

Something not to complicated like Uprooted by Naomi Novik, and then he will surprise you by reading something super dark like Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang.

Also really likes literary fiction. Idk he strikes me as someone who would like reading about people's lives, and a plot where the action is less important than the characters evolution. Tried to read weird lit but didn't like that the main themes were rot and body fluids, it reminds him of Frodo during the Quest.

Merry:

I'm basing this on personal experience; but every time I see a cute guy either on the bus or on the Friday train, they'll be reading something like Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, or something by Hemingway, which does not strike trust, and it's a bit pretentious and on the nose. Like are you really reading Marcel Proust for fun? Be honest with me, my guy, you looked gay (for legal reasons this is a joke).

He likes non-fiction. Some of the books he has are Tristes Tropiques by Claude Lévi-Strauss; Folie et déraison by Michel Foucault; and he once even started talking about how he didn't really agree with Freud's Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis. The glare that the rest of the Fellowship gave him could have killed Sauron on the spot.

Pippin:

I doubt his AuDHD allows him to read anything really dense (or maybe he hyperfixates so badly that he reads one book in less than 12 hours who knows)

Graphic novels and comics are a must in his bookshelf! Eventually becomes a Marvel brainrot fan, to the dismay of everyone else, especially Aragorn who has to pay for the merch.

YA fantasy bc I'm taking into account his age. Percy Jackson hyperfixation and that's why he's gay now (again a joke)

Aragorn:

Romantasy but not of his own volition, he is just a really good partner, and Arwen seems to me like a romantasy girlie. Poor guy has been forced to read A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Fourth Wing, and Powerless. Put the limit at Colleen Hoover (not saying that Arwen likes her either, she just likes to make Aragorn suffer like a good gf). Will deny again and again to the rest of the Fellowship that he likes any of these books, and once even drew his sword at Boromir.

Legolas:

These random ass raunchy period romance books you find on your mother's bookcase just lying there and you read them out of curiosity and end up learning about things you should not be aware of yet, and they're not even written well but you can't stop reading. Chick lit, if you want.

Has read the Bridgerton books multiple times.

Gimli:

Science fiction. Gets really nerdy about alien invasions, but it's not like he believes in any conspiracy theory of course. Legolas barely understands what he's talking about half of the time but who cares when your boyfriend is that cute.

He loves and actually understands pretty well space operas. The Final Architecture trilogy by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir are favourites of his.

Boromir:

Sports romance. HOCKEY. He just likes the whole "turn off your brain to enjoy this" honestly, he needs a break sometimes of course!

Read Vampire Academy out of curiosity and really liked it, though he does admit it and Faramir will act like he doesn't know him (it's actually a good saga I'm sorry okay)

Faramir:

This guy right here owns the entire Realm of the Elderlings book saga. It pains me to admit that he would relate a lot with Fitz.

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman because he's not dead inside, okay?

Éowyn:

Really basic sorry but she is a Hunger Games girlie through and through.

Actually, I feel she would like dystopian fiction a lot. Has watched Divergent (only the first movie, the rest are trash) with Faramir more times than she can count. Faramir gets cold sweats whenever he hears something that reminds him of the movie (he knows the dialogues by heart)

Éomer:

Yes, yes, I know Rohirrim don't read or write, BUT he would own all the Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey. Why, do you ask? Well, purely because it's a fantasy series of mages that are Chosen by their Companions, which are white horses. And Éomer is a good ol' horse girl so what more could he ask for.

I recently found a copy of the graphic novel version of Straight on Til Morning at my local used bookstore and got a great deal so I wanted to share a few of my likes, dislikes, and general observations. I’d been meaning to write up a proper review of the book for awhile now but have been SUPER behind. Anyway, the graphic novel follows the book pretty closely and I’ll be sharing some images from it, so this WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS for those of you who haven’t read it.

First off, the artwork for the graphic novel is beautiful and some scenes are illustrated in a really creative way. For example, I love the depiction of this particular scene where Wendy is writing her stories and Hook sort of…comes to life off the page.

I also really love that while (most of) the characters are still recognizably Disney’s version…they also look a tad more realistic and have some of the illustrator’s own personal interpretation mixed in.

George Darling is a great example. In the graphic novel he is slimmer than in the film and looks remarkably like J.M. Barrie…which I have to consider was probably intentional.

And then there’s the Lost Boys in their animal costumes…Tootles, Skipper (excuse me, this is Nibs erasure—you can add Skipper but don’t just eliminate Nibs!), Slightly, Cubby, and the Twins.

The pirates, however, are a totally different story. Who the heck are these guys???

Anyway… at least they get Hook’s personality right. I love this bit, in particular, where one of the pirates gets a little rough with Wendy and Hook is having none of it. Also, the idea of Hook capturing Wendy to be a mother to the crew is a nice nod to the book.

One big complaint I do have is that the characters are, on occasion, a little TOO self-aware. Like in this scene where one of the pirates makes a sort of on-the-nose observation about Hook’s feud with Pan.

But I will admit, I did cackle at Hook’s reaction.

He said would you please stop trying to psychoanalyze me and look for symbolism and just let the story be about a boy and a pirate? (Hook, how do you even know who Freud is??)

You may have noticed by now that I haven’t said anything about Peter… That’s because Peter barely features in the story at all and honestly when he does show up, he’s…kinda useless and clueless. Now, admittedly, Wendy is meant to be older in this (around 16) so of course, it’s reasonable to think she might not quite view him the same way she did at 12…but in having her team up with Tink to do all the heavy-lifting of the plot (because, ya know, girlpower and all that), Peter sort of ends up not really doing anything. I’d almost rather have an evil Pan, as annoying as that trope is because at least then he actually does something. In this story, it truly feels like Wendy has just…outgrown Peter altogether. And that hurts.

Speaking of which…ya know what hurts even more for me as a Hook fan? THIS.

This poor man is curled up on the deck in the fetal position, terrified of a crocodile who has been long-dead, crying out for a best friend who never even existed except inside his own mind because he was so alone that he made him up.

O W !! Why would you do this to me, Disney?!

It ends for Hook with the crew deciding to drop him off somewhere with enough gold to pay for his keep and hire a caretaker because he’s so mentally unstable they don’t trust him to live by himself.

I hate to say it, but honestly, watching him die would be less painful. At least that would be over with fairly quickly. This just hurts.

But everyone else lives happily ever after, so it’s okay, right? Right??? 😫😭 (Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here in the corner, crying over my pirate boy.)

New Doctor Who Fan?

Don’t know what to watch first? I got you!

If you are a new Doctor Who fan due to the new Disney+ series or just finding the time to finally get into it, but don’t know where to start, here is your unofficial guide for nuWho! 

Where to start

If you struggle with older CGI and editing, you don’t have to watch all the episodes in season 1 or 2. I originally made this for my sister, but I figured it would be really good for people who are just starting out. 

Season 5, 6 and half of 7

(This may seem extreme, (don’t come after me) but if you are truly trying to get into Doctor Who, this would be the best place to start) 

- watch all of season five and six then stop immediately after “the angels take manhattan”

This is because it is a full story arc. You can get almost all the information you need about the cadence and vibe of the show in these episodes. Plus they are simply amazing.

Season 1

- now a lot of people struggle with these first two seasons, because it is simply just harder to watch older editing styles nowadays, plus if you’re like me, then Rose is the most annoying person on the planet. (Certified rose hater from day 1) 

If for any reason you don’t want to watch the entire season and just need a Naruto watch through for it. Out of season 1, the best episodes to watch for lore reasons would be:

Rose - first episode, introduces Rose and the best character in the series, Jackie Tyler.

End of the world - second episode and sets a foundation for Satellite 5 (this will be needed in the future, make sure to moisturize)

World War Three - Harriet Jones! Reoccurring character introduced!

Dalek - more info into what the doctor just did prior to this season and great performances all around

The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances - double episode, introduces another reoccurring character!

Bad wolf/ Parting of Ways - congrats you made it through season 1, now you can watch the Christmas special!!

Season 2

As much as I am a Rose certified hater ™️watch every single episode in the season or you will regret it. (girl in the fireplace and love & monsters I love you forever)

Season 3

Now they did my girl Martha dirty in this season. She is by far one of the best companions, just completely overlooked. By this time you’ve probably fallen in love with David Tennant as the doctor so you would have no trouble watching through season three.

(for my Spider-Man nerds out there Andrew Garfield is an episode five)

Season 4

DONNA MF NOBLE! if you watched the Christmas special for season two and LOVED it. You will be beyond happy with season four.  While a lot of the plot of season four doesn’t happen until about episode eight it has some of the highest rated episodes of Doctor Who. You can skip through some, although I don’t recommend, but these are the ones you should absolutely watch.

Partners in crime -introduces the season

The fires of Pompeii - Karen Gillian AND Peter Capaldi <3, plus WHY Donna is the best companion

Sontaran stratagem/ The Poison Sky - double episode! And Martha’s back!

The Doctors Daughter - do a lore dive on this after and come back here lol Sigmund Freud would love that episode.

Unicorn and the Wasp - Agatha Christie Unsolved Mysteries just a great episode, very very well rated

Silence in the Library/ Forest of the dead - MUST WATCH. Period end of sentence.

Midnight - this is the precursor to “The Well” in the newest season

Turn Left/ Stolen Earth/ Journey’s End - 3 parter technically, again a must watch if you want to understand the recent specials on Disney +

THE WATERS OF MARS - ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EPISODE OF DOCTOR WHO EVER MADE IMO

Christmas Special: End of Time pt1/pt2, the end of Ten and a whole load of lore coming your way. Ten was loved by everybody and that’s why they gave him like four different specials.



Look at that! Now you are caught up to season 5! Which you have already watched! Now you can start the Christmas special for season 7! Which is oddly placed in the middle of the season.

Optionally if you want to go back and rewatch 5/6 and then 7 that is also something you could do just understand it will hit you just as hard as it did the first time, If not harder.

Season 7

Now that you are caught up on the lore of the doctor up until this point, you can go ahead and watch the rest of season seven up until episode 14!

50th Anniversary Episode

All of the work that you just did was for this episode! So you can actually understand what’s going on! This is one of the biggest lore episodes of New who! Good luck!

Season 8/9/10

No, this is the time where you sit your butt down and watch every single episode of these seasons. Doctor Who’s graphics are 10x better, a sarcastic Scottish man is yelling at everyone and SONIC SUNGLASSES!! Real shit, these seasons are insane.

Season 8 is primarily one off adventures, but the last two episodes dark water/death in heaven are two parts. 

Season 9 on the other hand is primarily two part episodes, this season also has one of the highest rated Doctor Who episodes of all time “Heaven Sent and Hell Bent” 

Season 10 here we have our professor, I truly wish we had more time with Bill these episodes are truly amazing. I wouldn’t skip them for the world.

Season 11, 12 and 13 

I am not going to sit here and force you to watch these seasons at all. If you want some base information, you can go ahead and watch, but I can’t promise you’ll have a good time. The story writing in these last two seasons really messed with the entire concept of the show, I love Jodie Whitaker as an actor but I don’t think that she was given the best story. This is a common thought towards these last three seasons, they didn’t have a good lead writer and it really showed. 

Spoilers ahead for the flux sweetie.



It follows the flux, which is a large mass destroying the universe, set up by republican timelords and yada yada. Basically that old senator race that 10 was talking about, had a secret “division” that shaped the doctors universe into things for its own good from OUTSIDE the universe. And then because the doctor goes around and saves people, they thought that the doctor was an infection to the universe, and therefore released the flux in order to kill the doctor and the universe. 

In the end, the doctor defeats it and then there’s another special and then they regenerate into 14!!

Now you can go ahead and start the first Special on Disney+ !  happy watching !

something to consider is in the folk story of John Henry, John Henry dies at the end. as well, abe lincoln is dressed up in his iconic president attire with the flamethrower, despite the fact he should possibly be dead if we take the timeskip scene between the young mann brothers and the older mann brothers to be 30 or so years. yes, in canon abe lincoln was off the shits but that’s tf2 for you. as well, there’s no real reason for a FOLK hero to be present here, who by his very nature is either an extremely exaggerated version of a real story or completely fictional. tf2 doesn’t really have a habit of making fictional characters real in lore like other franchises

the administrator, stupid bitch that she is, when initally getting mercenary teams together for the mann brothers, figured that famous people must be entertaining and good fighters, and so she purviews the literature to find random people she thinks would be good candidates and gets her underlings to get the dna for her so she can clone them. for folk heros like john henry, they went with the closest looking person they could find.

basically to sum it up the original team fortress aren’t the actual historical figures and are merely simulacras of the living and dead figures. while clone sigmund freud is healing his team and chopping people up, the real life one is in germany probably doing something way weirder.

In your fanfic, will we anticipate to see more of a darker side of katara?

This question is about my avatar fanfic Burn this City Down, which you should all go read.

Sorry for the late reply, but I wasn't sure how to answer this question at first. In general I tend to take characters to dark places in my fan fiction. My interpretation of Maki and Mai Zen'in for instance, is far darker than most of the fandom's.

However, there is a specific type of avatar fanfic that usually gets tagged "Dark Katara" on Ao3 where she basically acts the way she did in Southern Raiders. While I do like that episode and the side of Katara it brought out, I'm not only interested in Katara's dark side.

You could call this "exploring Katara's dark side", but I think what's most important is writing Katara in a way where the narrative is hard and unforgiving on her flaws, in order to push her to grow and develop. Katara has flaws just like everyone else, she's equally as capable of hurting and harming someone and it really depends on what the circumstances push her to do. I like to write stories where characters are challenged really hard. Stories where even the heroes under the right circumstances, can be pushed to do bad things because they are just as human as the villains. Stories where characters aren't internally good or internally bad, but learn to be better by trying to be better.

I guess the question is will I have Katara do bad things - and yes, I like it when the good guys do bad things. I think it's more interesting when the protagonists are morally fallible because the more flawed they are the more room they have to grow. Again I'm not sure if I'd called this a darker Katara though, because that's just how I tend to write characters I come down hard on their flaws. Look at the way I talk about Gojo in any of my Jujutsu Kaisen posts. No one ever believes that he's my favorite character because I'm constantly criticizing him like I'm his disappointed and impossible to please mother.

There is one thing I like to avoid when writing women though and that's the dreaded madonna whore complex. Seriously, it's everywhere, we can't let Freud keep winning like this.

Katara and Azula are character foils both in ATLA itself and in my fan fiction, and in comparing them Azula is a lot more flawed than Katara. However, I don't want to end the comparison on one of them is good and one of them is bad because that's BORING. The point in comparing them would be to point out they are both equally human, struggling with their own flaws as teenagers growing up in a messed up world.

@zuko-always-lies and I were talking about this in general and ATLA's approach to writing Katara's character, and while Katara is a character with a lot of depth she doesn't really have an arc constructed around her character flaws. Katara is a good woman so she doesn't really need to be challenged in any way by the narrative to grow, she's busy serving the role of the group's heart and an example of goodness. If I were to change one thing about Katara I wouldn't necessarily write a darker Katara, just construct a narrative around her that calls out her flaws and really pushes her to her limits so she has to grow as a person. Even characters who are totally goody two shoes like Aang can have severe personality flaws and an arc based around challenging those flaws - it's why he's my second favorite character.

Of course i am beginning with the protagonist, you can't stop me. Neither you can stop him actually ! I love how bro is 1m40 30kg and still a menace and dare argue with muscle mountains that has the entire school behind their back. He is the ultimate hater, he is sassy and judge ppl and i am all in for this. His position as manager in quite interesting for a IE protagonist, because for him to not have a passive role in game, i think they included a whole management "gotta give them bois a career" part. At first, i wasn't a fan of him because of his design but once i saw how he gives 0 fuck about everything I really started to stan. Even in game, npc confirm he looks... interesting (not in a good way i think). Also, in the near future, he will be in kahoot with : rich heir, council student president, most popular girl, most popular frat boy, soccer legend's son and the most dangerous player ever ???? What in the name of rizz ????

Briar Bloomhurst

Him and Destin, my OTP lmao, he already calls him boss 💖. 10/10 design, 10/10 charisma, 10/10 backstory, 10/10 personality, 10/10 aesthetic, 10000000000000000000000000000000/10 legs (Destin told me). Let's talk about his potential : he is a rich boy with daddy issues pretending to be a thug 'cause he can't use his godly legs for sakka. It gives : family-centered subplot, big guy protecting his 2 autistic buddies, "violence to eloquence" character development (i made up this term), important figure in his community (so maybe unlocking new features or subplots in the game), catalyst of the club reputation issue because thug, maybe becoming the captain ??? Idk, Level 5 i hoped you cooked because i am not letting that wasted potential slid.

Cedric Freud

Or as we call him in the french community : Cedric Fraud (we do not hate him we just think it is funny). At first, i really didn't give a shit about him, despite having a better character design than Destin, but after watching the beta chapter 1, i actually related to him and now i appreciate him much more. He is still annoying, but in a funny way. He also seems little more of a grounded guy and to understand and empathise with people better than Destin and Briar. He is a good third member of the trio, because between Destin who is the most out of pocket guy and Briar being lil brutal at times, i am glad there is someone like Cedric who is less extreme, a bit of a pacifier and just a funny guy who wants to vibe and make friends otherwise Nagumohara will be in jail in 24h.

Raika Shinohara

She kept her japanese name in the dub and i find it odd (the only one that did that was Fei i think). That was for the uniteresting fact. From what i saw in the trailers, i don't think she has a tragic backstory and is here for the tragedy (i can be wrong tho). She most likely joined for vibes and aesthetic purposes and i am ok with that. She is just a girly girl that actually get to do shit and i am all here for that. Also, her dancing abilities (who was the highlight of her character) could be the source of a lot of Nagumohara's hissatsus and tactics (and i like that for once, we get to have a main team who has a defined style of play unlike the others who didn't know what and how they were doing and still managed to pass). She looks like she will integrate nicely in the cast, even tho i see her getting along with Cedric more giving their carefree aura.

Alix La Fontaine

French person here, instant fave 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵 It seems him and Thierry made an alliance (or are competing) to be the first antagonists to try to stop our protag's plans. He looks dramatic af in the trailer, very theatrical in the way he expresses himself and change his outfit in the middle of his hissatsus ???? Material girl material 💅💅💅 Tbh i think he is made this way to mimic a politician (yay a 14 years old corrupt politician in middleschool) His relationship with Lilac looks funny ngl because she looks like she is not having his bs. Also how a élégant fine sophisticated femboy ended up in the goalpost, where he will be beaten by explosive hissatsus daily ? This will ruin his hair, pray for his wig 🙏🙏🙏

Thierry Reyes

His vibes give me the ICK. He looks gay and homophobic at the same time. He looks like a redpiller and i despise this mentality. But i don't feel neutral about him and the trailers show i am likely wrong (partially). Anyway, he is obviously the first antagonist/opponent of Nagumohara with his clique of frat baseball bois. It would be funny if he goes to Alix crying after his defeat against us, and the latter be like "pookie, i can't do anything to restore your dignity but don't worry i will make them close their club". (Not necessarily shipping them but why not, we are pro-shippers in this house) He also was doing influencing in chapter one, idk if it will get somewhere after. His design is also kinda weird to me but got used to it (a bit like Destin ngl).

Cade Shelby

Of all the canon Nagumohara's soccer club cast so far, he is the one i have the least opinion about. He is the mandatory chubby giant with low self esteem we have in all the main teams, he will probably be a defender. His design is also questionable (who thought Todd's design was a good idea?). At least, the other ones were a bit charismatic and unique in their own way, and we can make serious predication of their roles and character arc and synergy with the other members, but not here (and it'snot because it's mysterious but rather that is uninteresting). However, he still has some things going on for him : to this date, he is the one i think is behind the Umi-bozu, the final boss of chapter one (spoiler : it's a robot), his attire seems to indicate he was be somewhat savvy with technology and all we know about him is that he is being bullied. The voice doesn't concur tho, but since it's a machine, it could be modified even after its malfunction. He is the only one who could have a motive to do that at this point ('cause i don't see the student council do that kind of shit, not yet). And as stated by Destin, uncovering the identité of the Umi-bozu leads to major development, so if it's him, i guess he is more important than expected (tbh, due to the limited canon cast this time, i hope so Level 5 cooked for him and that he is not just a gimmicky character).

Harper Evans

Like most of the OG fan, i can't wait to see and get to know him and he hyped me so much. He is also the one i am the most afraid of being dissapointed, because we have been hyped by him being "soccer monster" and stuff, and Hino saying shits like "yeah the story will have a very moving twist", but what if it is not living to our expectation ? ...wait, writting that, i may have figured out the point of his character ? Idk, i just wished to be actually surprised by how he turns out (if it makes any sense). What do you think guys ? Fun fact is that VR was first supposed to be setting in OG Raimon, with Destin as the manager and Mark as the captain, maybe he was created after the original idea of VR after it changed so much ?

Darian Moonward

I am like a bit wtv with him so far. He gives me huge Michibari vibes, even tho he is supposed to be "charismatic". He seems calm and wise, being the one doing tactics (according to Raimon's current coach, who seems to be our main antagonist) and giving advice to Harper, not much to say about him. I think it would be funny if he was actually very silly and autistic and weird and akward and dunno what he is doing in his head in contrast with his exterior. He seems kinda close to Harper tho, maybe he knows stuff for the story ?

Nikas Himmelstein

annnd idk if i wrote his name right.... He's a cutie patootie and it all that struck me so far. Tho there is this moment were he closes his eyes, the world is in negative and he figured which tactic to do, which was kinda cool with the ost. There is this scene were Cedric does a similar thing in the new trailer for one sec, i wonder if it's something that is linked to this. Also, since Destin moved from his city to go to Kyushu, i always wondered if we will see ppl from his past and Nikas seems to be the type of guy to know the Destin of before.

I won't review his captain : i forgot his name, his design is ugly and there is nothing to say about him. Next !

Beyond her habitable forehead, i have few other things to say. Her design reminds me of Nae/Bunny, but her vibes scream Natsumi/Nelly. 'Cause she has a position similar to the latter in the school and you feel my girl knows things. We don't know what but she knows. For the few secs we see her, she seems to argue with Alix and says something that indicate us she is not really bothered by the soccer club, unlike Alix (and Thierry) who seems overdramatic compared to her. An ally ? Or maybe she just likes to piss Alix for fun ? What do you think ?

Juno Hundermarkt

Simple but nice design. The voice of the Umi-bozu sounds the most like her, and that contradicts a bit my theory on its identity. Idk what to think about her, she seems to be the student council learders's doormat, what would be her story (if she has one)?

Elaine Sereno

Not much to say about her except she has a Nice design and seems like a wholesome lady. However, i think what really insteresting about her is the contrast she gives to the rest of the soccer team. Like imagine this nice and calm lady having to deal with the others's shenanigans and bs on a daily basis and she's like "i am not paid enough for this, help". Tbh, all of them need therapy and she seems to be a great councellor. She may be the only rampart of this team from going bat-shit crazy ?

NOW *puts on my vulgar freud glasses* with steve's abandonment issues and attachment to his mother, i can definitely understand steve buying into the "mothership" concept, convinced that staying there is for his own good and not wanting to leave it at first, then feeling stifled by it, feeling guilty for feeling stifled when he's where he "needs" to be, and projecting that feeling onto other ppl who leave the "mothership" (neal and his solo stuff) and also having his abandonment issues triggered by it.

it's interesting, also, how different steve's solo excursion was treated versus neal or anyone elses'-- of course, a lot of that was because steve's stuff was more likely to be successful because of his position as the focal point of Journey, but saying him wanting to do solo stuff *specifically* was more "fracturing" (herbie and kevin elson-- the latter of whom got axed in the 85 coup-- both said this in different places) and that he was wrong for wanting to do it is just.... hmmm. I feel as though if everything was more open and less about wanting to keep steve leashed up in the band, it would've been a way more chill thing for everyone: steve wouldn't have felt so stifled and controlled, and herbie et al wouldn't have had to worry as much about steve flying from the nest. but i think herbie felt control slipping and slammed down hard because of it, which in turn triggered steve's own control issues and it became an awful kind of feedback loop 💀

it also reminds me of a podcast i listened to about karen carpenter, where they talked about how she was basically gassed up and put down *in equal measure* by her management, which was *literally her parents* (instead of just a surrogate "parent" like herbie, which is its own kind of toxic). her brother, richard, was the golden child, but *KAREN* had the voice and she was the one that fans most connected to. so to keep karen within the Carpenters, her parents and brother would tell her how ~special~ she was and oh they couldn't possibly do anything without her, while at the same time, freaking the fuck out and putting her down whenever she tried to do anything on her own. in karen's case, she couldn't even successfully put out a solo album because her parents were like "fuck that, you bring us money, you're staying here". steve finding more success with that basically comes down to having a less toxic management structure*, and, to keep it 100, being a man.

(*still want to reiterate that the journey structure was toxic af lol-- steve was correct in calling it enmeshing like he did in the VH1 doc, but the Carpenters structure being literally work-and-family combined instead of just metaphorically combined, with no separation whatsoever, makes it like the Journey structure on steroids)
