I'M A TEACHER AND I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!
This sounds like a gofundme.
It's not a gofundme.
Basically, I'm a teacher who teaches 12-15 year olds during the weekends. It's not a paid job, it's more of a paid-volunteering gig, but I really really enjoy teaching so I've been doing it for a couple of years. However, this year, I got a promotion of sorts and bumped upto teaching from 6-8 yos to 12-15 yos.
sO.
I've had previous bad teacher experiences in the past (read: My School's Local Mafia Boss), and though I can smoothly engage little children during lessons, teenagers are a different story. ...Cuz I'm a teenager myself. Like, I'm 2-4 years older than the oldest ones in class max.
I really, really want to be a good teacher. And I'm tryingggg, but making lesson plans for older students is harder than younger students. I WAS WONDERING, do any of you have any interactive and interesting ideas for engaging classrooms??? I genuinely want to be a good teacher and nothing like the shit ones I've had in the past. I care about my students and I really want them to have fun in my classes while also genuinely learning content.
So if you have any ideas, please share them. Heck, just share something which you wish your teachers/tutors did, or something which some of your better teachers did do that worked, or even just something bad that your teachers did that I know to avoid and use an alternative.

How I Use SEL in My High School Lessons (And How You Can Too!)
Richard James Rogers, Award-Winning Author and Teacher, describes ten which Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices can be incorporated into High School Lessons.
A blog post by Richard James Rogers (Award-Winning Author of The Quick Guide to Classroom Management and The Power of Praise: Empowering Students Through Positive Feedback). This blog post has been beautifully illustrated by Pop Sutthiya Lertyongphati. As high school teachers, we know that our students need more than just academic knowledge to thrive. They need tools to manage their emotions,…

one of the most boring lessons I’ve learned is that when a task feels overwhelming, you just have to start doing it. Even if you’re not sure how to do 90% of it, look for one small component that seems close and start there. Sometimes it’s reading one article on the topic, or searching one related term, or literally just googling how to do the task. Do anything other than thinking about it. The process of working on a thing inherently makes it less scary.

hii i hope this is ok to ask but i love how fucking HUGE you make curly look, do you have any advice on how to draw muscular frames? :o
thankies!! i love drawing him Robust-Looking <3
as far as advice goes, when it comes to anatomy i always recommend the channel proko on youtube, they have all kinds of videos about how to draw anatomy with each area of the body broken down. basically, if you're trying for anatomical accuracy with muscles and stuff, their vids are a great way to grasp how muscles work!
as far as general shapes and vibes though, i have a couple quick tips of my own <3
the biggest part, if you can imagine, is proportions. typically tutorials will tell you the average shoulder width for a person is about 2-3 heads wide, so if you're making someone Bigger and Beefier, you'll wanna go past that a bit. (and making a character's head smaller is gonna make their body look bigger by comparison, so if you wanna go crazy, shrank that thang)
For example, Daisuke (who i draw as lean, but still with some muscle, especially in his arms) is 4 heads wide at his shoulders, while beefcake curly over here is 5 (sometimes more depending on the drawing lol). something as simple as broadening the shoulders already gives a character a beefier-looking silhouette.
Tumblr media
[ID: Simple rough sketches of Daisuke and Curly from Mouthwashing with colored circles showing how many heads wide their shoulder width is. Daisuke is four, Curly is five. end ID]
~~~~
"but what if i don't know how to draw the muscles and am not going for realism/don't feel confident enough in that yet? how do i give a muscular vibe without as much detail?" FEAR NOT it's super easy. here we use the power of SHAPES!!
i draw jimmy and curly with the same "skeleton" or base frame, so i think they're a good example of this next bit. despite having the same bones, i broaden the fleshy parts on curly's limbs (focusing on his shoulders cuz he has big ass shoulders) and keep his upper arms wide before tapering down into his hands (muscles tend to be largest at the base of the limb and get smaller up to the hands/feet but there's plenty of design exceptions). i carry that shape language down into his legs (which i emphasize with his fitted calf-height boots). meanwhile jimmy stays fairly squared, especially when fully clothed
Tumblr media
[ID: Simple sketches of Jimmy and Curly from Mouthwashing with notes describing their shapes. Jimmy has a rectangle over his body and is noted as being "relatively rectangular" and the shapes of his limbs are mostly straight. Curly has a trapezoid over his body and has a "top heavy shape" with limb shapes that taper down and in. end ID]
~~~~
and honestly, a good hack to make a character read as more muscular or robust is to give them a buddy that contrasts that. once again, jimmy will assist.
even in a simple drawing like this, giving jimmy the opposite tapering to his limbs just emphasizes curly's hugelargeness by comparison. it also shows that you don't need a lot of detail or realism to convey Beefiness
Tumblr media
[ID: Another, more simplified doodle of Jimmy and Curly, pointing out that Jim's limbs taper outwards while Curly's taper in. end ID]
~~~~
another final quick tip i have is: the neck makes a difference!
people with more muscle tend to have thicker necks (it's because of the muscles there, if you can believe it) and it's kinda become one of my fav bits of drawing curly lol. idk why <3 necks fun to draw <3 for him, i draw his neck starting at the very edges of his face and widening out at the bottom to match the shape of his head and to flow a bit more into his trap muscles, but you could go Even Further Beyond if you so Choose. i've found this is a surprisingly good way to convey Beefy Person Beefy even if you don't have as much anatomical knowledge.
Tumblr media
[ID: Four bust sketches of Daisuke and Curly comparing their necks. The first two show them both facing forwards. Daisuke's neck is slimmer and straight, while Curly's neck meets the edges of his jaw and has a wider base with higher trap muscles. The second two shows them in profile, with the back of Daisuke's cranium sticking out past his neck, while Curly's is even with his neck, showing how thick is is from the side. end ID]
~~~~
in review we got:
widen shoulders relative to the head to convey a Broad silhouette
taper limbs inwards from base to extremities to emphasize the shape/size of the muscles
give em a less muscular buddy for contrast
thick necks help a lot in conveying a muscular build
and of course, i know i only used men in these examples, but these tips will work just fine regardless of a character's gender. please draw more beefy women ily <3
i hope this made sense and helps you and whoever else might see this uwu
if anyone has any questions about it i will. Try. to answer them. making these posts is oddly difficult lol

Art Progress Timeline
Tumblr media
It's hard to see this stuff as it's happening, and it's easy to think you're not making progress, so it's good to do these every once in a while. 'finished dww' is both a personal milestone and an excuse to draw them so small, so tiny, but also the point where i didn't have to split focus between two creative disciplines so could focus on the art. been boning up on the fundamentals this year. i've no formal art education (though i did always want it, life had other plans), so i'm thrilled to see i'm getting to where i want to go. hoping 2025 is a good art year for me too

Hello! I really love your art! I was wondering if you have any tips on how to capture the person the facial features of the person you are drawing so well?(!) Your Billy and Stu are is amazing! Although it is in your style (which I absolutely adore) you still keep their likeness/resemblance which is very hard for me to do when trying to draw them in my style! (Sorry if the wording is confusing, any tips?) Thanks!
Ah thank you so much and sorry for taking so long to reply, but I needed to figure out how to answer this.
I have put some general tips together, but I need to point out that none of these replace the time investment of learning art. It is merely a suggestion of direction for practice, and I don’t want anyone to feel discouraged if any of these tips don’t immediately make them into a master of arts. Art practice is not easy and it can be frustrating to not be up to your own standards yet, but you will get there! :) In the meantime: be kind to yourself!
That said, let’s get to the tips I can share:
1) Use references!
I usually create a reference sheet for any character I want to draw more often, with their face in lots of different angles. Being able to know how, for example, someone’s nose looks like from the side and from the front can be essential when it comes to recognition. You basically want to be able to create a 3 dimensional object with these references. I tend to need the references less the more I draw the character, after a while i just memorise their key aspects for drawing them from most angles :)
2) Figure out key-features of a person
Try to figure out how to simplify someone in a drawing. What are their most striking features that NEED to be included? Sometimes it helps when you try to think of what features a caricaturist would accentuate in a caricature of them. Here you have some features that I personally try to focus on when I draw billy:
Tumblr media
As mentioned in the bottom right corner, the placement of these key-features is also important. Try to figure out where things are placed in relation to other facial features and mind their size as well. this becomes easier the more you do it!
If you struggle to find out what features are important you can also look up other fan-artists stylised work you like and try to see what they chose to highlight :)
3) Do studies!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) focus on values and contrast before considering color
doing a study without a sketch by blocking in shapes can help you figure out the planes of a characters face
Tumblr media
as you can see here, stu’s eyebrows kind of blend in with the shadows of his brow bone, which is why I usually draw his eyebrows pretty light/in a color that doesn’t have high contrast with the skin tone, it makes him instantly more recognisable in my opinion
5) Draw (a lot)
I have been drawing basically every day since I was a child, but my ability to actually draw someone recognisable has only developed in the recent years. And I don’t think I’m done with learning. In the undying words of Bob Ross: “Talent is a pursued interest. In other words, anything that you’re willing to practice, you can do”.
I hope my tips can help a bit and and perhaps lend you some motivation for the never ending practice that every artist has to face :’) <3

subject-specific studying: math
this is the first part of my newest series, subject-specific study tips. please enjoy & check out my other posts :)
Tumblr media
there is no "easy" way to succeed in math. the first thing you need to recognize is that math is the hardest subject you have, meaning you need to spend the most time on it. there aren't any easy hacks to help you here.
practice, practice, practice. the goal in math is to learn, not memorize. the only way to succeed in math is by practicing questions over and over again until you have completely understood the material.
do not leave a single stone unturned or you will regret it lol. even if you don't understand a small, tiny, seemingly irrelevant detail i guarantee you it will be on the test.
always ask your teachers questions. preferably ask them in class, because there will be someone who has the same questions as you, but after class works too. just make sure to write them in a notebook so you can remember the questions.
redo the homework, focusing on the hardest questions. most of the time your test will be harder than the homework. go over all your homework and select the most difficult questions to solve.
time yourself. make sure you can solve the problems under a time constraint, one similar to the test. not only do you need to get each problem correct, you also need to do so under time constraints.
review previous and new work before going to class. even if you don't understand it, always try to stay on top of what you're doing. seeing the material previously helps reinforce it better.
sleep well. before every math class, make sure you're alert and awake, because math classes move fast.
create a practice test by taking questions from online, past exams, and homework. try creating testing conditions similar to the test using the same time constraints and even testing in the same time of day. make it as accurate to the actual test as possible.

aftg au where bee adopted andrew and later aaron when they were teens. she owns an apple orchard that the twins and occasionally a few of the foxes help run but it's almost harvest season and she needs help prepping everything for the town's fall festivals so she decided to put up a help wanted ad. neil, tired, alone, and running out of options, decides to apply. bee let's him use the renovated barn loft as residence when she learns he's homeless. andrew is wary, his family means everything to him and neil is a flightly little thing that could only bring bad news, but something about neil is familiar. maybe it's how he checks all his exits or how he flinches when people touch him or how he cradles the key bee gave him in his palm like it was a treasure instead of a piece of metal. he asks neil for truths and it's like bleeding a rock but he finds neil is more willing when truth is reciprocated. they spend their days walking down the lines of apple trees, harvesting and talking, and andrew is only a little mesmerized with the way neil's auburn curls blend with the red of the apples and his eyes match the sky like something deliberate, like he was meant to be here. andrew thinks that maybe he doesn't hate how neil looks at him like he's worth something. andrew thinks that maybe he doesn't want to lose this. he's still learning how to accept that not everything is transactional, he doesn't need to make deals to keep people close, hes still figuring out how to want things without the fear of them being snatched away. his mind screams at him to turn away and push any feeling aside but then neil is handing him an apple and smiling and telling him stories he says he's never told anyone else and andrew doesn't think he deserves this but he wants it

Things I Wish Teachers Would Understand
I have a life outside of school. I may be going through health problems or mental health issues or family troubles or financial issues. Literally, I can name so many things and of course, you won't consider it because the only thing you notice is that how I've not done my homework or how I got low grades in my exams.
Grades don't define me. Or my efforts. Or my self-worth. Just because I get high grades doesn't mean I'm more smart or disciplined. And just because I get low grades doesn't mean I'm dumb or lazy.
Mental health issues are real. Really real. And they are hard to deal with.
Learning disabilities are also real. You can't just get out of it. Working hard doesn't fix it. It's a real issue.
Being an introvert is not bad. IT IS NOT BAD. Period. I do not have to speak more in class to prove that I'm paying attention. It just means that I do not want to speak. I'm fine with being quiet.
I can forget things. I can forget that assignment that was due, I can forget to do the homework. And I can definitely forget about the test.
The things you say matters. Even if it is sarcasm. Even if it is a dismissal. Sometimes, it makes me stay up late at night. Sometimes it just stays with me throughout the day. So, yes. You should speak a bit more carefully.
Grades don't show my full effort. Sometimes, I try so hard and I still don't get it right. And when you say that I should try harder? That does shatter a small part of me, not because you told me that, it just makes me feel that I'm the one who's damn stupid and that no matter how much effort I put in the work, it doesn't matter if the grades are not there.
As a student, I will of course prefer some subjects over the others. It is not a personal attack. And it is not an invitation for you to tell me something sarcastic about it.
Calling out a student on their mistakes in front of the whole class or our juniors or seniors or any other teachers is not okay. It's embarrassing to us and makes us feel bad.
Small praise does mean something. Honestly. I remember every good thing a teacher told me because I'll be honest, most don't say very nice things.
Please don't try to force things on us. Whether it be competitions, extracurriculars or anything really. It doesn't feel good.
And if there are some students who misbehave? That doesn't mean the whole class is bad. And no, collective punishments don't help.
I also appreciate when you try. Like, really. I respect you because you teach dozens of classes a day and still show up to our classes with neutral moods. You have a lot of patience for dealing with us.
I really appreciate your stories, advice and the small tips that you give about life now and then. It helps. And yes, I do remember.
I also feel that sometimes that both our expectations come crashing down. You expect us to do good. We expect you to be supportive and passionate. And it's okay to let go of your expectations sometimes.
And I know you have stresses too. You, too, have health problems, mental health issues and family issues, financial issues. I know you have the pressure of making everyone pass through the year and delivering good grades. And I have to say, I understand you. I really do.
I'm writing this because I've had so many teachers expect so much from me. And I'll be honest, that pressure broke me. Seriously broke me. I also respect teachers a lot, but it also doesn't mean I appreciate their behaviors or actions. You make up the world that we currently live in and I say this, not just as a student but as a person.
(P.S. This has been in my drafts from a long time. This was like peak exam + pressure + stress season, so don't mind the not so small rant. And no, I don't have a personal grudge against teachers.)

Who is your future partner
Tumblr media
1.TO be or not to be - cards: four of swords, the Fool, the chariot. child: nature. Animal lover, Volcano
Your partner likes to be at home and can be a loner/ introvert. This person also likes to play musical intrustments and always get you flowers. No matter what happens they will always want to be there for you. Just like the card it might be here with the four of swords they will miss their stop but still you are on their mind.
Tumblr media
The fool- on this card she is running but she wont fall. So the fool here can mean that sometimes you want to rush into things .
Tumblr media
Your person is always rushing because of how busy they are so this is the Major because the fool here is their personality. They might be forgetable but this card shows the energy that they dont even know or aware they are in the rush. This card shows that they are happy go lucky person. They like starting things and now they can finish it. The fool here denotes that others will even make them arware of what will happen to them or mistakes they can make. They might even seen like they are plant in a way under control but really they still are free.This person is has faith that things will work out no matter what.
The chariot - card
Tumblr media
As the guide book says this one was true. Still this chariot and knows the tradional and he loves old cars . ( child :Nature)
So your partners has a big love for animals and nature spirits. They still will be hot-head. Volatile emotions that are suppressed. need a healthy way to release them, they might start erupting in ways that cause distress.
2.roses are red violets are blue
cards: the empress , the judgement , child :eternal , saintly ,adventure , fright , commitment
Someone that can already have a famous parent or work in the industry. So, it can even be nepotism and someone that has good connections with the court of law and universities. They at times might be paranoid or have some type of unusual phobia and depression. They have good contract and also good at overcoming obstacles also good at dealing with others. They can look young at heart and be like a child ...peter pan syndrome. (child: eternal)
3. Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? cards: queen of cups, origin, child divine, alternative sexuality, wild west
So, your spouse is someone that has cancer in their big 3 and someone that likes to help others, make sure nobody is left out even if they are left out. This person can also have experience traveling aboard or even being a teacher that taught English or youth aboard. They can give gifts like a Lego flower or Legos because they want to give you something that they made with their own hands out of love and that can be lasting.
Tumblr media
(Jimin while he was doing the Lego lives or just that energy, he had during that year he did the Lego flowers ...it was a well-known trend ...that love in that way can be lasting but it is true that they can try to unbuild the Lego flower)
Tumblr media
They have a good mindset, and they are also creative, they have a lot of vitality. They have the raw vibes to them that they can have more of masculine side to, but the feminine side is more present. They also have a divine aura, and they have struggle to find love that can match them.
Pile 4. She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; card: The fool, Knight of pentacles, Don Juan, Liberator, readiness, alternative sexuality, wild west, ritual sacrifice, swindler
Your person, aka future spouse is someone that has a good sense of humor and determination. They will make it no matter what, they are someone that knows how to fix things around the house and can be quiet at times but also can light up.
Tumblr media
They are good at seducing others and you; they can help people break out of mind control. They have access to high tech but also are given things that are simply just the placeholder for the real thing. It doesn't matter what happen that tool or weapon is their birth right.
Tumblr media
(the card liberator you can see how this is done by Kassandra in her journey to Atlantis) Your spouse could have been cheated or scam by others. They tend to just not want to talk about what happen with their past or any bad event that could happen. They keep it to themselves and so they tend to push others to their breaking point. Or one big moment of angry to see that person ... can have moment that they are reminder of the power that they always had within that they can stand up for themselves and be brave.
