Something I keep in mind while writing the world’s slowest slow burn is that Jerrica is bi, but repressed. She absolutely is attracted to girls, she just doesn’t realize it. She just thinks she’s admiring their beauty or their personalities. She’s only ever been in love with Rio after all. ...Right?
And after Jerrica realizes “Oh shit, I’m attracted to another woman” she goes a little in denial for a bit. Talking to Kimber helps clear things up for her.

Will BillFord ever exist in the "Bill Goldilocks Cipher" fic?
That's the plan, although extremely slowly (it took 60 chapters for Ford to go "I'm willing to consider the possibility of maybe not hating Bill's guts someday if he earns it"), and it's never gonna be the main focus of the fic (I've given Bill a busy schedule of Making Friends With The Entire Town, Ford's gonna have to share). But yeah it's there. First got mentioned last April, although at that point I hadn't decided yet whether it was definitely gonna go that way. I worked out the plot kinks sometime last fall (but i didn't tag that post so i can't find it now LMFAO)
Gonna be frank though, billford already exists in it. Sure stuff like ch 9 and the intro to ch 16 and ford's preoccupation in ch 24 are ambiguous, it could be all platonic obsession; but ch 39 is gay. I'm stating that for the official record. It is gay. There are three different things going on there and hella gay is one of them.
I'm still working out the nuances though. Like, on Bill's side it'll tilt romantic—i'm taking TBOB as providing pretty firm evidence that Bill (reluctantly) experiences romantic emotions and heavy implications that he experiences them toward Ford; but I haven't fully decided whether Ford's side of things is also romantic, or like, platonically obsessed plus horny.
but listen i've been in fandom long enough to know that the question "will the ship happen" doesn't care about those subtle nuances, it cares about Are They Gonna Make Out. And yes. They are gonna make out.
EDIT: i found a post from June mentioning it, I forgot that post. Here.

20 Q's for Fic Writers
thanks for the tag @spacejammie-eimmajecaps!
How many works do you have on ao3? Officially 8, but I have one on anon and one currently unrevealed in a fic exchange
What's your total ao3 word count? 61,996
What fandoms do you write for? So far I've written for Death Note, Tangled the Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Haikyuu, plus a couple of crossovers. Haikyuu is definitely my main rn though
What are your top five fics by kudos? #1: Frosting and Freckles: 69 (nice) #2: Draw Me Near: 39 #3: [embarrassing anon fic]: 35 #4: Varian Is Not a Wizard: 25 #5: Midnight Coda: 21
Do you respond to comments? Yeah, I love to! I don't get a lot so they always make me happy :)
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? probably the anon fic sdfsk but other than that, Midnight Coda is kinda bittersweet because of what happens later
What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? hmm idk but the sappiest is definitely Frosting and Freckles
Do you get hate on fics? Not so far, thankfully! I don't think I have a big enough readership for that haha
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I have not; not sure what kind it would be if I did
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I love writing crossovers! A PJO/HP crossover was actually what got me into fanfic. Unfortunately most of them are merely concepts or abandoned (for now), but as for crazy, I think my Lunar Chronicles/PJO one is the craziest in terms of how the plot grew out of control from a simple "what if these two characters interacted" to "I could rewrite most of this series," which is why I got stuck and put it on hiatus lol but I do want to get back to it someday. Maybe once I finish my other active crossover
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge
What's the longest you've spent working on one fic? And the shortest? Uhhh well if we count "working on" as "having it in the back of mind to get to but haven't worked on in months," probably Sent from the Heavens lol. If not, then Varian Is Not a Wizard (just over two years since I published the first chapter). Shortest is definitely Midnight Coda, since I wrote that pretty much in a day iirc
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but it sounds like it could be fun!
What's your all-time favorite ship? From all fandoms? Dude I have no idea how to narrow that down. Best I can give you is my current fave is Tsukkiyama from Haikyuu
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Probably my "Leo Valdez ends up in the ATLA world" one :sob: It never made it past the word doc and about three pages of story and I haven't looked at it in like two years
What are your writing strengths? I like to think I'm pretty good at dialogue and grammar/spelling
What are your writing weaknesses? Everything else (jk). I am awful at describing scenes/settings; I get bored writing them so I don't put as much effort in as I should haha. I also tend to ramble and use passive voice too much
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I haven't done it, but I think it's fine as long as it fits the context
First fandom you wrote for? Published: Avatar: The Last Airbender. Unpublished: Percy Jackson
Favorite fic you've written? I think it's still Bent Out of Shape. It's so niche, but I had an idea and I executed it, and I'm proud of what I accomplished. Although once I finish Varian Is Not a Wizard, that might take the top slot.
No-pressure tagging: @supermarine-silvally @starrynightarchive @litterateur97 @palant1r @soreiya @lilac-writes @oloreandil @kandybarkreepshow @ellegamgee and anyone else who wants to!

The Dragon Reborn, Chapter 39 - Threads in the Pattern
(THIS PROJECT IS SPOILER FREE! No spoilers past the chapter you click on. Curious what I'm doing here? Read this post! For the link index and a primer on The Wheel of Time, read this one! Like what you see? Send me a Ko-Fi.)
(Wheel icon) In which we finally seem to get a glimpse of one of the teensiest mysteries.
PERSPECTIVE: Egwene. Avi is close to tears, saying she owes Nyn a debt. Dailin is her second-sister,(1) and her life means a blood debt. Nyn says if any blood is to be spilled, she'll do it herself. As payment, she'll only ask if there's a ship at the village nearby. Avi says yes, there was one when she scouted yesterday. Egg asks how they cross rivers, feeling as they do? Avi says many have bridges, some they can wade, and the rest... wood floats. She says they made a little ship (raft) out of some dead trees lashed together.
Nyn suggests they should be on their way, but El asks why they've come all this way, and endured so much hardship? Avi says they haven't come far at all, they were the last to set out. Bain says they seek He Who Comes With The Dawn, and Chiad adds that it's foretold he will lead them out of the Three-fold Land, and the prophecies say he was born of Far Dareis Mai.
El says she was taught the Maidens weren't allowed to have children. Avi says if a Maiden bears a child, she gives the child to the Wise Ones of her sept, and they pass the child along to another woman, so that nobody knows whose child it is. Every woman wants to foster such a child, in the hope she may raise He Who Comes, but now the Wise Ones say he's to be found here, beyond the Dragonwall. "Blood of our blood mixed with the old blood, raised by an ancient blood not ours."(2)
Now, Avi says, she has a question for them: why do three Aes Sedai travel alone, here in a land ravaged by hunger and war? Where do they go? Nyn says Tear, unless they stand here talking until the Heart of the Stone crumbles, and the Maidens tense up. Nyn says they're hunting evil women, Darkfriends. A Maiden uses their word, Shadowrunners. Three Aes Sedai hunting Shadowrunners and seeking the Heart of the Stone. Nyn says no, she just mentioned it crumbling, and starts walking away.(4) Egg and El make hasty goodbyes, and they follow.
El talks about how much she's just learned, how much is wrong of what she was taught before, and how much nobody taught her at all.(3) She was taught that the Aiel considered themselves thief-takers, coming after King Laman of Cairhien for the crime of cutting down Avendoraldera to make a throne out of its wood. It wasn't a war to them, it was an execution.(5) Egg remembers one of Verin’s lectures about how Avendoraldera was the offshoot sapling of the Tree of Life itself, given from the Aiel to the Cairhienin five hundred years ago as an unprecedented offer of peace. It's still not clear how they got a sapling of Avendesora, the Tree of Life, since it's said it will never make a seed, and nobody knows where the Tree itself is. And, now, since Laman’s Sin, Cairhienin who enter the Waste disappear, with rumours that they’re being sold into slavery on the other side.(6)
Egg supposes she can understand a war, from that perspective. El distracts her by saying she must know who He Who Comes is, right? Egg says she can't mean... El nods. She's heard a little bit about the Prophecies of the Dragon, and one line is that he will be born of a maiden wedded to no man. And Rand... He does look like an Aiel. Well, he also looks like portraits of Tigraine that still hang in the palace, but she disappeared long before he was born, and she could hardly have been his mother anyway. His mother must have been a Maiden of the Spear.(7)
They catch up to Nyn, and say she handled all that very well. Egg says the healing weave made lightning look like mixing oatcake. Nyn thanks them, smiling, and they walk on in silence. Another mile passes them by, and suddenly El screams, something hits Egg in the head, and everything goes dark.(8) She awakens, bound, across the back of a horse, in a huge group of horses and rough-dressed men. She tries to channel, but the pain in her head stops her. She sees El and Nyn, bound across horses as she is, Nyn's braid dragging on the ground. One of the men notices she's awake, and she's hit in the head a second time.
Waking is easier the next time. Her head still hurts, but not as much. She tastes sour wine and something bitter. She's not bound this time, in a room with a dirt floor and a poorly fitted door. Nyn and El are with her, still asleep. She peeks through a crack in the door, and the next room is richly furnished. She hears them talk about capturing them, feeding them some kind of herbal mixture that should keep them asleep for hours longer.
Egg wakes Nyn, covering her mouth to keep her from giving them away to the men. Nyn realizes they must have given them sleepwell root, which helps with headaches, but just makes you drowsy for a bit. Nyn examines El, and says her skull is broken, but they took her herbs, and she can't do anything without them. A look crosses her face, and she rasps that she didn't bring El all this way to die, she should have left her to scrub pots. Saidar shines around her, and El is healed. Nyn says doing it that way was like peeling off her own skin, though.(9)
They explain to El what happened, but when they look through the cracks again, there are three Myrddraal in the room, one picking up Lan's signet ring, which Nyn had been carrying. Egg channels a hair-fine weave of earth into the iron of the lock, weakening it, but just as it falls to the ground, the outer door of the next room swings open, and many Aiel unleash black-veiled death on the humans. They're about to start in on the Myrddraal when the wondergirls bust out of their room, startling Aiel and Myrddraal alike.
Egg sets the Myrddraal aflame, their screams like a meat grinder. El seems to push the air around them, crushing them, and Nyn wields a thin bar of white light that makes the noon sun seem dark, and the Myrddraal seem to cease to exist, as if they had never been. El asks what the heck that was, and Egg knows somehow that it was balefire.(10)
The Aiel unveil themselves, the Maidens they'd known and some men, as well. Nyn starts toward the two injured ones, but the older man says there's no need, they took Shadowman steel, which doesn't wound but kills. One of them is Dailin, and Nyn gets extra angry, she didn't heal the girl to die like this. El apologizes that they interrupted the... dance. The man, Rhuarc, chuckles and says he's grateful, three Shadowmen would have killed many of them, maybe all.
Nyn calms down, and asks Avi how they're all here? Avi says she followed them, but was too far behind to help when they were captured, so she sought out as many as she could get in touch with quickly to mount the rescue. She says she didn't expect to find any clan chief here, much less her own, and asks Rhuarc who leads the Taardad Aiel, with him here? He shrugs, saying the sept chiefs will take turns and decide if they really want to go to Rhuidean after he dies. He wouldn't have come, but Amys and Bair and Melaine and Seana said the dreams said he had to go.(11)
Avi laughs as if it's a joke, and says a man caught between his wife and a Wise One wishes for a dozen enemies to fight instead, but a man caught between his wife and three Wise Ones, and the wife a Wise One also, "must consider trying to slay Sightblinder.” Rhuarc says the thought occurred to him, as he catches sight of the three Aes Sedai rings and the heavier gold ring on the floor. He picks them up, and Egg asks about the dreams, do the Wise Ones know what they mean? He says she'll have to ask some Wise Ones, they don't tell the Clan Chiefs anything but what they have to do. He examines the signet ring, and Nyn snatches it from him.
Three Aes Sedai, traveling to Tear, and one of them carrying a ring he heard about as a child. The signet ring of Malkieri kings. They and Shienarans rode with Aiel sometimes, in his father's time. But they died, leaving a child king who courts death as other men court women. He never expected to see so many strange things, here. The path they set is one he wouldn't choose to follow. Nyn says they set no paths for him, they just want to continue on to Tear, at first light.
They all spend the night out under the stars, and the Aiel share their breakfast: goat jerky and a hard blue cheese. They choose the three best horses for the wondergirls, and the Aiel bid them farewell, may they always find water and shade, and perhaps they'll meet again "before the change comes", whatever that means.
The wondergirls go on to the village, Jurene, that they had tried to reach the day before. They're no longer wearing their rings, they don't want to be taken for Aes Sedai in Tear, of all places.
The Andoran soldiers holding Jurene say it's lucky they came when they did, as they expect orders to return home any day now, and the villagers will probably go with them. There's one boat docked, a merchant ship full of fancy wood and rugs, not fast but he's the only one that would dock here, and that only because he found worms in his food supplies.(12) Nyn pays their fares, and twice as much again for the horses, so angry that neither Egg nor El talks to her until they're long away from Jurene.
=====
(1) First cousin. (2) Hmm. We've seen that the Two Rivers has some "old blood" still running through them. And we know that Rand is He Who Comes With The Dawn, though that title always makes him sound like a euphemism for morning hornies. At any rate, raised by ancient blood but not Aiel sounds right. But, he's not 100% Aiel? Whose old blood joined theirs, and how, when his mother was found fighting as part of Far Dareis Mai on Dragonmount? (See 7) (3) In fairness, hon, their culture's been cut off for thousands of years from your wide open end of the continent, with the exception of the trip to gift the tree and at least the one big war for reasons… (see 5) (4) Interrupting my long ramble to interject that, Gaul mentioned Aiel prophecy regarding Tear. These Maidens obviously know of it too, and see the implications just as quickly as Gaul did. (5) …we can finally talk about! Aviendha called the men "oath-breaking treekillers" last chapter, and I didn't draw attention to it, but here we finally have something like confirmation of why the name, and more, why the Aiel War. Now, is it right that they consider the whole country of Cairhien responsible for one man's crime? No, absolutely not. But, when you rise up in defence of your king, in a way you do become as complicit as he is in what you're defending. Everyone's a little bit right and a little bit wrong here, except Laman Damodred, who was entirely too fucking arrogant. (6) Yeah, so, when we joke about "your fave is a war criminal" in this fandom, we are often only lightly exaggerating. If this is true, the Aiel are selling Cairhienin into slavery, as a punishment, for their king's arrogance. The "your fave is problematic" of it all never stops in this series. (7) Ah, but here we continue from footnote 2. They mentioned Aiel, mixed with another old blood (like… royalty?) raised by yet another old blood (Manetheren). I know I and many many other long-time readers missed this unassuming little infodrop on our first reads. Elayne's probably intimately familiar with every portrait of a prior ruler of Andor, being the heir and all, so she'd be able to tell resemblances. Isn't that funny, that Tigraine disappeared after some sort of prophecy from Gitara Sedai, when Galad her son was still just a toddler, and some years later a young man shows up as the hero of our story who we now find out looks just like he could be her son? Must be a coincidence, after all his mother was fighting as a Maiden, surely no Daughter-Heir would be doing that? (This is absolutely why I asked for direct attention to the history bits explained in Eye of the World in particular, as Rand and Mat approached Caemlyn. RJ's outline of the series was there from the outset. It changed over time, both in detail and in format a bunch: originally, this book was to be the third act of the FIRST book in his proposed trilogy. The man couldn't be concise enough, though, to pull it off. So it was that one book became three, and three became fourteen.) (8) Who would raise a hand to a Wise One, indeed. (9) It can't be a pleasant experience to have to make yourself SO ANGRY just to do it, and then do it all in such a wild, uncontrolled rush. (10) Who else have we seen wielding bars of white-hot fire? What do you think balefire is now? Was Perrin only saved from ceasing to exist when Rand used it against him because he was dreaming? (11) That sounds extra serious. Not just one Wise One, but FOUR said so? Dang. And one of them his wife! That's interesting, given how infrequently Wisdoms and Aes Sedai marry in Randland. (12) But the ladies are TOOOOTALLY not Ta'veren, right.

20 19 questions for writers
<- why did they lie to me about the #? i demand answers.
I was in bed and going to bed and then I saw that I was tagged by ANTA MY FRIEND @antariies so i got out of bed to answer these
tagging: um. well i dont know. teensie. do you write...? you have to do this then. even if you are in bed.
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
39 right now, but I know I've orphaned about that many as well
2. what fandoms do you write for?
right now... all guild wars 2.
previously I've done a lot of metro 2033, half life, jojo's bizarre adventure, digimon, katekyo hitman reborn... and then less of hlvrai, final fantasy vii, and fruits basket... gw2 is all i do for right now. <:)
3. what are your top 5 by kudos?
This is super skewed because I orphaned a tooooon of my more popular stuff but Nuclear Option, two other vrai fics, Lent (<- should be number 1 if we're being honest and true) and a fruits basket thing that i should have probably also orphaned. the overwhelming urge to orphan things to skew the data further. you have to hold me back
4. do you respond to comments?
yes but not in a timely fashion (last round took me. over a year before i replied to anything. pensive.
5. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I dunno about actually angsty.... the fic that makes me cry every time is butterfly bridge; I wrote it after having to put a pet to sleep. if I ever got around to writing more "portal to the metro" the ending would probably also rank up there. due to. the tragedies.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
proooooobably Lent? idk I feel like I get a lot of "fuck yeah that ending ohhh the catharsis" type reactions on Lent.
7. do you get hate on fics?
I have a number of times. sometimes anon but sometimes people put their names to it?
8. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
yes. sorry. the apologetic kind.
9. do you write crossovers?
not often... usually a crossover is a pretend thing just for me in my Imagination. however. portal to the metro... it was a roleplay between myself and a friend. and then i started writing it in earnest. and then i got tired. then i started writing primarily gw2 stuff. you understand. but someday I'll return to it. and then they'll all be sorry.
10. have you ever had a fic stolen?
um. kind of. when I was 17-18 I plotted out a fic I was working on and shared it with a couple of dear close friends. and then like a couple weeks later a massively popular person in the fandom in question posted my fic: their version. down to every little detail. 🙈 never found out which of my friends shared the planning with them.
11. have you ever co-written a fic before?
yeah, Pluto's Moon -- started 8 years ago, finished almost a year later... I wouldn't bother rereading it at this point but. it was a fun experience. we had fun. I also cowrote several chapters of a Reborn crossover fic with my long distance mmo friend when I was a freshman in high school. I don't think we ever got anywhere with it let alone posted it to FFN or anything-- I was handwriting short chapters between classes lol. I might still have those pages somewhere...
and then I think I would also consider portal to the metro a co-write in many ways. because it came from both of us :)
12. what's your all-time favorite ship?
well. I think Canach/Alba has been too prominent for too long for me not to say it. canon/oc numero uno!!!!!!
13. what's one WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i dont even wanna answer and jinx it nooooo cry2. I yearn to finish everything... i guess maybe I have some weird misc smut fics I don't anticipate finishing. due to the strangeness.
14. what are your writing strengths?
dialogue is my dearest sweetest friend. my sweetie pee
15. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i LIKE it! thumbs ups. am I GOOD at it? thumbs in the other directions
16. first fandom you wrote for?
Kingdom Hearts before I ever touched any of the games. (like 17-18 years ago)
17. favorite fic you've written?
I feel like my most recent is always my favoritest 😭 uhhhhg
The Echo (current project)
Drochshúil (recent work)
18. what are your writing weaknesses?
I have no pacing control. I can't meet goals, OR i'll go full crazy and write 160k in 2 weeks. you have to watch out because that can happen to you too if you just go off your antipsych meds for a while
also filling in the stuff AROUND dialogue. so often i'll be editing a fic and just (sighs) dama (me) you (i) can't just have 8 lines in a row of dialogue. what are these people doing in between talking. and then dama (me) is like alright wise guy why don't you take a crack at it if you're so smart. and i do. but in the moment of writing i'm not super good at figuring out the in betweeeeeeens.
also I feel like ending scenes and such is really hard. also getting characters from point a to point b (locations) without doing a timeskip to "well here we are at point b!"
19. have you ever had a fic translated?
I had someone ask to do so with one of my metro fics, to repost on a Russian fanfic site; I wasn't particularly attached to the fic so I told them go ahead. but also I have no idea if it ever happened. heart hands. so maybe. there may have been another but I don't rember.

Note
I didn't bother with word counts lol but for the DVD commentary
this bit from Lethal Measures:
"The slab flops over backwards, April releasing it as gravity takes hold, and underneath it is a Krang-
there are tentacles in his arms in his legs under his skin under his shell there is power in the ship there is knowledge in the database and there is the understanding that he is not himself and if he cannot keep himself together in the mind of this ship then he will be lost gone subsumed but he is torn away from the knowledge the power the ship but the tentacles are still in his body in his mind in his memories they never left he never left they are STILL THERE-
His mind snaps back to reality to find his body has acted in his absence: put itself protectively between April and the Krang, activated his tech-bo and his ninpo ( he’d never devised a weapon that could hurt the Krang but that had not stopped him from trying, long overnight hours in medbay keeping vigil over Leo’s injured form trying to think of a way to handle them if they ever came back ) in the form of an oversized and jagged-edged glaive, and locked down defensively, awaiting motion from the invader intruder murderer Krang. April’s hands are clamped on his shoulders, and she’s nearly yelling, trying to get through- “I told you, I checked it, it’s DEAD -”
Which is when Donnie’s brain finally processes the data his eyes are providing beyond the initial panic instinct, and he realizes what he’s looking at is half a Krang. The left half, to be precise.
Oh .
He sags as adrenaline loosens its hold on his system, and April lets go. “You with me, Mister Cold-Blooded?”"
And this bit from Site 39:
"Evidently Siobhan has the same idea, as she hasn’t taken her seat again. “How was Tahiti?”
“It’s a magical place. Amazing mai tais. A little rocky at the end, when my flight got rerouted to Vermont and I had to rent a car and drive five hours in traffic to get here, but that’s not Tahiti’s fault.” Or Vermont’s, but given that both of New York’s major airports were currently closed, the airlines were doing their best, and at least she’d had the foresight to not fly Southwest. She rolls her shoulders, sharply cracks her neck, ignores the wince from Fadi at the sound, and taps the edge of one of Siobhan’s monitors. “What are we looking at here? I saw the public reactions, but what do we actually have? Catch me up.”
So they do.
And Margo stares . Squeezes her eyes shut. Rubs her temples. Opens her eyes again and stares some more. She’d thought seeing public accounts would prepare her for the full explanation. She had been wrong. Holy shit .
She sighs, still trying to wrap her head around everything. “So we had an alien invasion.”
“Yep.”
“That came and went in a single day.”
“Yep.”
“And now we have an alien in the basement.”"
AIGHT LET'S GO
I wrote the first chapter or so of Lethal Measures in a Brand New Hyperfixation Fugue State, so a good amount of the writing process for this can be described as Brain Go Brrr. That said:
The slab flops over backwards, April releasing it as gravity takes hold, and underneath it is a Krang-
there are tentacles in his arms in his legs under his skin under his shell there is power in the ship there is knowledge in the database and there is the understanding that he is not himself and if he cannot keep himself together in the mind of this ship then he will be lost gone subsumed but he is torn away from the knowledge the power the ship but the tentacles are still in his body in his mind in his memories they never left he never left they are STILL THERE-
I am inordinately fond of using run-on sentences and fragments to signify racing thoughts or a breakdown, because the lack of punctuation rolls everything together into a rambling mess, which is absolutely the point. Donnie is just a touch traumatized by the invasion, but don't worry, He's Fine.
Bodies, especially well-trained ones, do some wild shit while on autopilot, and I enjoy playing with that, especially in prose. The one-two punch of the brain spinning in a breakdown while the body goes DAMMIT BRAIN I GUESS I'LL KEEP US ALIVE TODAY, followed by the brain picking the reins back up and only then taking stock of what the fuck happened when it stepped out back to have a brief scream into the void, is great to write. The reader gets to be just as surprised as the returning brain is!
I do tend to overuse parentheticals, but that's very much a style thing for me. I was taught that anything in parentheses could be removed without upsetting the coherence and the structure of the paragraph that contained them, and that is how I use them. It's fun flavor text and occasionally extremely rude on my end, just the way I like it. :D
(Also, had I been thinking, I would've specifically given Donnie a naginata, but fugue state meant I defaulted to glaive. Bitches love glaives. It's me; I'm bitches.)
Which is when Donnie’s brain finally processes the data his eyes are providing beyond the initial panic instinct, and he realizes what he’s looking at is half a Krang. The left half, to be precise.
Oh .
He sags as adrenaline loosens its hold on his system, and April lets go. “You with me, Mister Cold-Blooded?”
This is all just setup. Part of the payoff is a few paragraphs later, making a crack about the other half of the Krang; the rest is the upcoming repetition of Cold-Blooded as a descriptor. I intend to make it painful in chapter 3, whenever that rolls around.
Site 39 is my excuse to dabble in worldbuilding - enough to make the entire Turtle Torchwood series an AU in its own right - because part of my engagement with a canon is to poke at the holes, ask how things work, and make up my own answers that fit within existing parameters. I knew next to nothing about Bishop or the EPF when I started this, and now that I know more, I'm still planning on doing my own thing. I'm having way more fun with my little crew than I think I would with Bishop.
Evidently Siobhan has the same idea, as she hasn’t taken her seat again.
So they do.
Site 39 is also my excuse to shamelessly make references and inflict psychic damage on my audience, because I find it funny and also I can. To note for these, I watched a whole lot of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and I was one of the poor bastards caught in last December's Southwestpocalypse.
Also, there's always someone in a group that gets super unnerved when anyone else cracks their joints. Poor Fadi.
“Yep.”
“And now we have an alien in the basement.”
You ever come back from vacation and find that everything has gone straight to hell in your absence? Margo is having that kind of day. For most people, that means paperwork; for Margo, that means dealing with the fact that her day job now has a dangerous predator under glass in the basement.
Also, there's a big difference between getting your information from a reliable source and getting it from Twitter scuttlebutt. Margo at least knows better than to trust everything the Twitter randos are saying.
The meme is here; ask me things!

Chapter 39: Never Got The Chance
Chapter 38 | Masterlist | Chapter 40 |Words: 914
Tumblr media
Nat’s POV
We'd made it back to the compound, with a lot of people trying to get in touch, something about,
"Why'd you leave us stranded?"
Boohoo, woah is me, type of shit, couldn't care less at the moment. As if there aren't ships they could borrow back on Wakanda.
As we walk in we're dead set on using the Stark technology to find Thanos, so we can ambush him. Thor, Wanda, and I will make him wish he was never fucking brought into existence .
"Friday, who's here?" I ask, as I enter the building to find we're not alone.
"It appears Mr. Banner ran in with Mr. Stark's unconscious body about an hour ago. He had a penetrating trauma to the abdomen, and Cho is taking care of it now."
Great, Banner's back, and Tony's hurt, my day couldn't get any worse.
Then my heart constricts... Morgan
I pull Wanda's frozen form along with me towards the medbay while making a phone call.
"Natasha? Thank God you're okay, I can't get ahold of Tony, and Y/N's not answering... What's happening?"
At the sound of her name, my heart skips a beat, but quickly stills once more...  By the sound of Pepper's tone, it's not frantic enough for Morgan to have faded out..
"Pepper, is Morgan okay?!" I ask anyways, wanting the actual confirmation.
"Yes, she's napping on the couch, cuddling that plushy dog Y/N gave her, she wouldn't calm down after we left earlier until I got it for her. Wait, why wouldn't she be?"
It's almost as if Morgan knew deep down, they've always said kids are insanely intuitive...
"Look, Pepper, I don't know how this even works, but the big bad guy won, and he somehow dusted half of all populations out of existence... Y/N didn't make it..." I explain, my voice breaking in the end, as I hadn't actually said it aloud just yet.
"Tony?" She shakily whispers in question.
"I wasn't with him, it seems his end lost too, and he's in the medbay currently."
"How do we tell her?"
"We don't, not now anyways, all we can do is keep her memory alive until I'm able to fix this, and I promise you I won't stop until it's fixed."
Pepper brokenly hums into the phone, then I bid her farewell, and enter into the medbay.
Tony's hooked up to IV's, while Bruce and Cho are standing by going over his vitals.
Bruce turns in our direction, with a relieved smile on his face, as he makes his way over to pull us into a group hug.
"Don't touch me." I growl, while I see Wanda's hand surround with red mist.
"I'm sorry, truly, I was blinded by a lot..." Bruce solemnly states.
"Well, until you can apologize to Y/N, I choose not to forgive you." I reply, pushing passed him to get to Tony's side.
"Stark! Wake your ass up, we have work to do." I shout, while slapping at his temple with my fingertips.
"Natasha, he's been through a lot." Bruce tries to approach me, but I simply widow bite him, and Wanda lightly tosses him to the side.
"Am I missing something here? I thought you guys were a team?" Cho confusedly murmurs, while lightening Tony's sedation.
"That's hilarious, Cho. He treated Y/N like she was a low class citizen, all in the name of brotherhood and unrequited love. Then went missing for two years while he threw his tantrum, so no, he's more like a glorified extra." I laugh out humorlessly
As Cho exits, Tony starts to come around, looking up at us with his loopy gaze.
"He won?" He croaks out
"Yeah, but not for long if we have anything to do with it.” I command.
"How exactly do you plan to defeat him with even less people? That's a suicide mission Romanoff." He scoffs
"He left severely hurt, and no one requires you there with us Tony, just your help to find him is all." I matter of factly state
He reluctantly agrees, promising that when he's able to get up, he'll get to work in finding the mad titan for us to get Y/N back.
Wanda had fallen asleep in a chair in the medbay, so I wound up carrying her out to my car. I drove us the short route back to our apartment, then carried her upstairs.
Once I'd opened the door my heart stopped, taking in the sight before me. The table was decked out, with flowers and perfectly placed decorations. Officially reminded of what my plans for today actually were...
We were meant to spend the day with Morgan making up for her missed birthday, then return home where I'd surprise her with our makeup anniversary since we'd been on the mission for that as well.
The ring in my pressed suit pocket, that I've had since month one, suddenly feels a lot heavier. I finally had the plans in place to ask her to marry me. After our dinner, I was going to drive us to our cliff look out, then I was going to drop to one knee.
Now, all I have are these unfinished plans, and I'll be damned if I'm going to just take it sitting down. I'll fight tooth and nail to get the chance to hold her in my arms again, to tell her that I love her, and to finally make her into a Romanoff.

Replying to this really late but I appreciate it! Thank you @arcanemoody ♡
How many works do you have on AO3?
39
What’s your total AO3 word count?
260,971
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. When Only Bitter Memories Remain (690 kudos)
2. Broken (375 kudos)
3. Forget-me-not (286 kudos)
4. 1001 Riddles (252 kudos)
5. White snow, Red Blood, Black Bird (199 kudos)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
In general, I always respond to comments. I figure if someone is kind enough to take time to comment, I'd like to show my gratitude by answering it and thanking them. I appreciate all my readers, but especially those who comment because it often gives me a new perspective on my work and always makes me feel valued as a writer.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm, that's a bit of a tough one. Just in terms of angstiest outcome, I'd have to say Edward's Last Word just because it has character death. But in terms of which fic ending personally gave me the angstiest feels, it's Like It Could Last. Likely because I wrote it as a fix-it to season 4's Ed/Lee plot but still didn't give it a happier ending. It's more of an open ending with a bittersweet note to make it canon compliant.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Although most of my stories have happy endings, no contest. It's gotta be 1001 Riddles. No character deaths (not even the villains), Ed gets a family, and there's a marriage proposal.
Do you write crossovers? If so, What is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
Not yet. Maybe someday though :)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope. A few unsolicited critiques but never anything I'd call hate.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I'd have to say no. So far I only have one NSFW chapter of a fic and it only exists as a separate work so any readers who don't want it can skip it. Smut holds little interest for me outside of emotional implications and how sex relates to the overall relationship. If I do write any smut in the future, it will likely be similar to what I did before in Heart's Memory the chapter of the aforementioned fic.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Possibly? I got a comment requesting permission to translate Another Chance once, but I'm unsure if it ever happened.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. It's sounds more difficult to me, so kudos to those who do!
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Nygmobblepot!!! They're the first pairing I've ever been this obsessed over. I've gotten obsessed with shows before and even specific characters, but never before a pairing. I finally get what all the hype about shipping is about lol XD
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Oof, where do I start? I'm pretty bad about actually finishing my longer fics. I want to finish all of them but not sure when I'll actually do it ^_^' The one I want to finish most is The Devil Went Down to Gotham.
What are your writing strengths?
Coming up with ideas for stories is definitely one of my strengths (and my curse because I can't possibly write them all lol). Also dialogue. I've been told that a few times and it's usually the easiest part for me to write.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Completing long WIPs is definitely a struggle. I also have a hard time with describing background. I always have to go back and make sure my characters actually exist in a space and give enough details to make that convincing. I never feel like I'm very effective at it.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
For myself, I use it sparingly if at all. I only speak english and don't feel confident about my ability to write dialogue in another language. If I were to inlcude it more frequently, I'd want to find someone who knows the language to help me with it. That said, I think it's really cool when I read other fics with it.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Gotham with my first fic being Riddler's Game. I think my writing has improved a lot since then XD
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
That's tough. They're all my babies. Um... okay so I can't choose just one because it depends on if I'm in the mood for something short or something long (yes I re-read my own work lol). For short, Lie in Wait. I'm a sucker for angst with a happy ending and I really put Oswald through it in this one XD For long, When Only Bitter Memories Remain. I really put so much into this one and am really proud I finished it ^_^ It also contains some of my favorite dialogue and kisses I've written.
Tagging: @fanfarekid, @artemis099, @mordredllewelynjones, @esperata, @thedreamweaver, @cobblepout, (if y'all want to) and anyone else who wants to play! Yes, that means you!

Let’s talk about Jordan McKell’s business decisions....
Yes, I'm still on my bullshit, and since now my ongoing threats to go into a meta-fun-time were encouraged.....let's talk about trust and The Icarus Hunt.  Because this is a book that looks like it's a mystery story, but it's actually a story about trust, loyalty, and maybe some of those other sympathetic human emotions.
Ultimately, I want to talk about The Wallet and why that scene is so incredibly good.  Before we get there, though, we've got to talk about some other things that happen first.  Basically, this is probably a series of at least three posts so we can lay the groundwork for why The Wallet hits so hard.
To start, we need to talk about Jordan's new job.  And on that note, we should probably put a cut because...spoilers.
Hi. Still here?  If you get spoiled, this is now your fault.  I gave you a cut.  You clicked to keep reading.
The Icarus Hunt, as told by Jordan McKell, is two stories for the price of one.  You get the original story from your first read of down-on-his-luck ship captain Jordan McKell who has been forced to turn to crime to survive and who ends up getting to take a legit job that quickly goes bad.  (I suspect this is the read that gives us the Star Wars vibes at least as they apply to Jordan).  If you go back and reread the story after your original read with the knowledge that Jordan is a spy, Jordan's behavior and decisions hit differently.
I'm going to get to the actual decision I want to talk in a moment, but first, let's chat about Jordan's situation.  The reason the book works, and in particular the reason why the big twist works, is that Jordan actually never provides an affirmative lie to the reader. Everything he tells us is true.  Instead, Jordan lies by omission. He leaves out a couple important facts that affect how we understand the story.
Because of this, we should believe Jordan when he shares with us about how he deeply regrets the choices that brought him here.  Again, Jordan doesn’t affirmatively lie to us - if he says he regrets his life, he does.  Jordan through much of the book is burnt out.  At times, he is downright bitter.  On some occasions, he even blames Ixil for his own decisions (example – Jordan says he doesn't want to hear about his situation from “the one who'd ultimately gotten [him] in this mess to begin with.”). Jordan feels trapped and he wants out.  While the first read impression is that Jordan's telling us that he regrets making bad investments and getting involved with crime, once you know what Jordan's actual deal is, this hits differently.  Jordan regrets becoming a spy.
I can't really fault him for that.  He's been doing this for a ridiculously long time.  Depending on whether Jordan's EarthGuard career started after college or ran concurrently with it, he is somewhere between 35 and 39 years old.  (Yes, I have done the math). There is no end in sight.  His mission is to infiltrate a criminal organization and work his way up the ranks.  He's still on the outer fringes of that organization.  Very little headway has been made. He's going to be doing this for the rest of his life (and when that life might end is an open question some days).  His quality of life is awful – there are times he cannot afford to eat – and he doesn't have any real support system.  At best he has....well, Ixil. Who is his boss.  As far as Jordan knows, Ixil isn't here because he's chosen Jordan. Ixil is here because his bosses told to him to be.  (More on this when we get to Nask).
And I wanted to share all of that because what I'm going to say next is not flattering to Jordan, but I completely get why he does it.
What actually happens in Chapter One is this: Jordan manipulates his way into getting the Icarus contract in a moment of weakness in hopes that he will get to blow his cover.
In the initial read of Chapter One, it feels as if Jordan accidentally came upon Arno Cameron.  They have a discussion, and Arno hires Jordan. But...that's not what actually happened.  First, there’s the obvious fact that Jordan did not accidentally find Arno.  Half-way through the book, we're told Uncle Arthur ordered him to find Arno and watch him (but not to engage).  In the last chapter, we get further information on that – Jordan had spent several hours going in and out of bars actively looking for Arno.  Jordan did not accidentally find this man at all.  It was a very intentional thing.
Upon a closer reread of the opening scene, we get even more.  It is Jordan who brings up the idea of Arno hiring him.  Jordan directs most of that part of the conversation.  Arno's not completely sure if he wants to hire Jordan; Jordan more or less talks him into it.  Now, while finding Arno was what Jordan was ordered to do, convincing the man to hire him to fly his ship is against Jordan's orders.  Uncle Arthur is not pleased when he finds out Jordan's taken the job.  Ixil is also well aware of what their orders are and that Uncle Arthur is not going to like this.  Ixil even takes the approach of – you dug your grave, you lie in it – and makes Jordan tell Uncle Arthur what has happened without Ixil present as back-up.  (Honestly, I'd have done the same).
Okay, so why does it matter?  Maybe Jordan was just really enthusiastic about getting a legal shipping job?  Well – two points – one, he was already on a job for his criminal employer, a man who Jordan knows will kill him if he disappoints him.  It is not in his best interest to blow off his criminal boss.  Jordan is well aware of what his best interest is in regards to that.  So why do it?  Jordan found Arno.  Arno’s doing just fine, going about hiring a crew for what appears to be a routine job.  Jordan has fulfilled his duty to Uncle Arthur.  There’s no reason for Jordan to manipulate Arno into hiring him.
Except there is.  Point two.  Uncle Arthur had told Jordan that, if Arno Cameron gave the indication that he was in serious danger, Jordan then had permission to break his cover.  (It's on Page 453 of my copy).
Arno doesn't act like he's in trouble in the taverno.  But, well, he's supposed to be going along on the trip.  There's a lot of space between Meima and Earth.  If the right amount of trouble came up....
Obviously, afterward, Jordan realizes he should not have done what he did.  He even gets a few moments later on where he could be tempted to give the full truth of who he is and doesn't.  He could have told Arno when they're in the strargate. Surely, being trapped on the other end of the galaxy is the sort of trouble where Uncle Arthur would have forgiven him blowing his cover. Jordan doesn't do it, though.  There's also a point where Tera starts to get too close and Jordan actively tries to start an argument with her to prevent her from thinking too much about his situation.  (While that fails, he does manage to divert the conversation and keep his secret intact).
But none of that changes the fact that it is Jordan, not Arno, who orchestrates Jordan getting the Icarus job and that Jordan had been explicitly told to watch only.  Jordan's military.  If he's breaking orders, he has to have a reason. Desperate people sometimes do desperate things.  Jordan’s in a bad place mentally in Chapter One.  Sometimes, you see a lifeline and jump for it before asking whether you should have. And now what’s done is done, and Jordan has to see it through.
And, friends, Jordan might be able to argue it away to Brother John or to Uncle Arthur.  They might, at least initially, give him the benefit of the doubt.  But Ixil absolutely has his number.  That's going to be important once Jordan and Ixil have their little chat after learning who Tera is.  We'll talk about that in Part Two.

[fanfic] In Memory
"When's he going to disappear?"
"Are you sure he didn't do anything to them?  I mean, it's - not impossible, is it?"
"They were his friends, weren't they?"
"That doesn't mean anything.  They're both gone. And he's still here."
"I heard they found blood where Fujiwara was."
Ryou turned a page in his book and did his very best to ignore all the whispers that raced around the room.  He knew he wasn't doing a very good job of it.  But he was quite skilled at focusing on what was in front of him so that gave him something else to think about.  He'd already hashed over everything to do with the disappearance of his two best friends as much as he could.  He and Principal Samejima had carefully reviewed everything to do with Fubuki's recent vanishing and came to the conclusion that there wasn't anything that Ryou could have done differently.
So now he was alone.  There were other students who he associated with on occasion, but none of them were even close to being as close to him as Fubuki and Yuusuke were - had been.
Alone.  He tried not to think too hard about that or about the other whispers that flew around the room.  No one wanted to get his attention. They just talked about it where he could hear it.  He ignored it all, or at least didn't respond to it.  What else could he do?  He knew he hadn't had anything to do with either of their disappearances. Yuusuke got too involved in whatever strange studies he'd been in.  Fubuki had just vanished.  There one moment and gone the next.
No matter how people chattered and whispered among one another, as far as Ryou was concerned, it was too quiet. Yuusuke had never made much noise, but Ryou had always been aware that he was there.  Fubuki certainly made more than enough noise for the other two of them combined.  Not having him there made it seem as if a hole had been cut out of the world.
The clock bonged a deep, resonant noise, and Ryou at once got up, tucking his book away.  The other students quickly shut up and backed off, no one getting anywhere near him.  He'd expected that.  They'd been like that ever since word of Fubuki's disappearance spread throughout the school.   They would talk wherever he went, but not a single person dared to approach him.  He almost wished they would, just to clear the air.
He made his way to his room - his new room.  Everyone who had still been in the Obelisk Blue elite dorm had been relocated to the main Obelisk building.  This room didn't feel anything like his old one.  That one had had the marks of all the times he and Yuusuke and Fubuki had spent in it.  This one was flawlessly kept, not a scratch or scrape or personal item out of place.  Everything was where he'd left it.  It would always be where he left it.
Ryou settled down into his chair on the balcony.  The sun had long since set and now stars sprinkled the skies overhead.  It was the new moon; it would be very dark except for the starlight.
Fubuki said Yuusuke talked about darkness.  Is this what he wanted?  Ryou got up and headed over to the small area set up as a miniature kitchen.  Not much could be made here; it was mostly for hot drinks and the occasional snack.  He made tea, and stared down at it for a few moments as it dawned on him he'd poured out three cups without even thinking about it.
He missed them.  He had no idea of where they were or if they were even still alive.  He wanted to believe that they were, that he would see them again one of these days.  He had no idea of when or how - it could take years.  It probably would.
Ryou took the three cups over to the table outside and carefully doctored each one until they were just the way he, Yuusuke, and Fubuki liked them.  He picked up Yuusuke's cup and sipped at it.
Fujiwara Yuusuke.  One of the few who'd ever given him a true challenge in a duel.  He might not ever have that again.  They'd enjoyed several games of shogi against one another - and Yuusuke usually won those, though Ryou had a few victories under his belt as well.  They'd taken pictures together.  Ryou still had copies of those - though he knew that Yuusuke's copies had been destroyed.  He glanced to the nightstand beside his bed, where the picture of himself, Yuusuke, and Fubuki rested in a silver frame.  Yuusuke, Ryou thought, would become a researcher, perhaps help Industrial Illusions when it came to developing new cards.
When he finished the tea, he set the cup down, then picked up the next one.
Tenjoin Fubuki.  The tea gave him the feeling of the sea, of laughter and daring, of teasing and steadfast support.  Fubuki hid how good he really was at dueling.  He probably wouldn't have become a Pro Duelist, but he would support Yuusuke and Ryou no matter what they did, assuring them that each of them was an achiever in their own way.  And he would probably encourage them in their romantic lives, no matter what.
Not that Ryou had ever considered a romantic life.  He had the two people he cared about the most and he had his deck.  He'd never thought he'd need anything else.
With that cup done, he sampled his own at last.  He would become a Pro Duelist.  He would be the Champion one day.  He couldn't think of anything that would deter him from this.  Even without the other two there.  Perhaps that could even - somewhat - help.  He would focus on his studies.  Focus on his dueling.  It would give him something to do, which he knew he needed.
There had been a tradition for the past few years, that the most talented duelist be referred to as the Kaiser.  While there wasn't anything official about it, rumor had been that Yuusuke would be the one so named.  But now Ryou alone stood a chance at it.
Then that's what I'll be, he determined. No matter what happened, he would live his life to remember those he'd lost.  He loved dueling but he loved those two as well.  He would not forget - no matter what.
The End
Notes: It is implied that Yuusuke was capable of defeating Ryou. So perhaps he might have been the Kaiser if things had been diferent.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
39 in the Gallavich fandom & 132 in Star Wars.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
48070 for Gallavich. (I have another Star Wars account and the word count is 134879)
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Date Night Kudos: 150
Cooling Down Kudos: 146
History Lesson Kudos: 131
The Red-headed Bartender Kudos: 129
Sleeping Beauty Syndrome Kudos: 118
I have a couple of Star Wars fics that have more kudos but have been up for much longer:
Nicknames Kudos: 309
Flirting Kudos: 228
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Absolutely! I love reading people’s comments - whether they’re really detailed or just sweet and short. I don’t mind. Comments are so encouraging and help me write.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I don’t think I’ve written anything that has that much of an angsty ending. Not because I don’t enjoy angst - I love it - but more because I’m not great at writing it.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Lots of them, if not most of them, have happy endings. I find fluff and humour the easiest to write!
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
No. Not against crossovers or anything, it’s just not something I’ve ever written.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No. But I wish I could. I think it’s such a talent to be able to write good smut. I’m definitely going to try (keyword being try) writing something for Kinktober - @gallavichthings has a prompt set here & i’m going to try day 26 - roleplay.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Camping was translated into Russian by Gallalover. I’m so incredibly flattered that someone wanted to and it’s so great that they did!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I’d be up for that.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Tough one….I’m absolutely loving Gallavich right now.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Time Slip - it’s a time travel fic and I love the idea but I just don’t think I’m a good enough writer to do it justice. I’m happy if someone wants to take it over.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Ideas! Which is obvious by all the prompts I write! 😅 and dialogue, I think I’m good at that too.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Description. I think I need to work on that. Also, I think I tend to rush things, which is probably why I’ve never written a multi-chapter/long fic.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Ooh, I’d love to but I only speak/read/write English so I wouldn’t try to. I love reading it in other people’s work though!
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars. I’d been in fandoms, including that one, for years before but only in the last few years have I had the courage to try writing. And I’ve enjoyed it so much, I’ve never stopped.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
Buffy. That was one of the first fandoms I ever got into….years ago. I participated in fandom in terms of leaving comments on things but as a teenager, when I was really into the fandom, I never wrote for it. Having said that, it’s been years since I watched the show so I’m not absolutely sure I’d want to write for it if I did a rewatch. But yeah, I sort of wished I’d been confident to try writing back when I was so into it.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Sleeping Beauty Syndrome. It’s a sort of fantasy Gallavich fic and it’s not the sort of thing I’d usually write (or really read) so it was interesting and challenging to try something different. And I really love how it came out.

writing tag game
Thank you so much for the tag @noire-pandora, @kittynomsdeplume, @melisusthewee and @emerald-amidst-gold <3
Whoooo boy, here we go.
How many works do you have on AO3?
17, but quite a few are just one-shots. I only have a couple long-fics, mostly because my poor ADHD brain is cruel to me.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
190,052, but if I hadn't orphaned my old (and embarrassing) Skyrim and Sherlock fanfics it'd probably be closer to 300,000.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
honey just put your sweet lips on my lips - 579
i couldn't whisper when you needed it shouted - 56
a fuller feeling (a brighter burst) - 54
Eunoia - 40
i'd wanna be felled by you, held by you (fuel the pyre of your enemies) - 39
(And to be perfectly honest, my most popular fic is by far my worst. I spend so much more time carefully crafting for Eunoia than I do anything else, but the little following it's picked up has made it worth more to me than all the kudos and comments on "honey.")
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do! I used to be terrible about it, mostly because the vast majority of comments I once got was hate (I wrote for a weirdly unpopular wlw pairing). Now I make it a point to respond to every single one when I can, even the short ones, to thank them for taking the time. It means so much.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It was a drabble for the r/dragonage writing thread, actually! The premise was a font in the Black Emporium that would show your OC the outcome of a decision made differently. I wrote Eliana Lavellan from Eunoia discovering what would have happened if she'd fought with Solas in Crestwood until he told her the truth... and its outcome was worse than the timeline where he left her and kept his secret. You can read it here (it's about 1200 words, nice and short).
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
My various Solavellan pairings don't get happy endings. Evelyn Lavellan was more of a narrative tool to explore Solas with, so her ending was cut short. Eliana doesn't have her ending yet, but it will be bitter and painful. My happiest ending was for my Bella/Rosalie pairing for Twilight - Bella became a vampire and lived happily ever after with her wife.
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't, unfortunately! Since my days on tumblr and FFNet, S*perWh*L*ck left a terrible taste in my mouth when it came to crossovers. I'd be open to it one day if I can find fandoms chill enough.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
As I previously mentioned, yes. In my Bella/Rosalie fic, I made it a point for Rosalie to love all the parts of Bella that weren't conventionally beautiful. My Bella is also a dark-skinned black woman, and the intersection of racism, colorism, and misogyny where it concerns attractiveness was something I thought worth including because I didn't see enough of it in fic. I wanted to highlight all the things that don't get enough attention or are actively reviled, like hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, natural hair, soft bellies, areolas and vulvas that aren't perfectly symmetrical or small, pubic hair and armpit hair and little hairs around nipples - things that I love about AFAB people! I got a lot of comments on my smut chapters calling Bella disgusting, or me nasty for choosing to include those traits. I deleted every single one.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
So much. I love exploring pairings or power dynamics that people wouldn't necessarily consider, like a strong female warrior Lavellan domming Solas, or Solas topping Blackwall. I wanted to show a black woman in an interracial relationship with a white woman where she got to be soft and loved gently, where she got to be quiet, bookish, and looked after instead of expected to be the loud, strong stereotype that we pin black women into. I wanted to show the power of masculinity in an elven mage who loves a warrior woman (Solas/Cass), or the nurturing side of domming in a relationship between a pan giant and a bisexual elf (Iron Bull/Solas).
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, tbh. I turn up to fandoms a decade late, so usually by the time I get any traction the fic-stealers have done their dirty work and leave me alone.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I haven't! I hope to one day write a fic in Greek for my best friend, though. They deserve to read about Solas in their mother-tongue.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope, but have done some plotting with aforesaid Greek friend.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Solavellan, absolutely. Any variation, honestly - I've loved m!Solavellan, f!Solavellan, as well as any variation including nonbinary, trans, or other interpretation of the relationship. Solas sees and loves the spirit, and I love the idea that its vessel doesn't matter so much to him. I headcanon him as a he/him agender bisexual, for what it's worth.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I've technically marked i couldn't whisper when you needed it shouted as complete, but it cuts off right before Adamant and was intended to be a full Solavellan story. However, I just didn't care for my rogue f!Lavellan OC very much, and didn't think she matched Solas well. I developed an OC that I enjoyed writing much better and rolled with it. So, I'm sorry Evelyn Lavellan, but your story is frozen with the two of you happy in bed. Solas will never break up with her so long as I don't write that part, right?
What are your writing strengths?
I love dialogue and crafting character voices! Getting a comment that I've managed to portray a favorite character so well that they can hear their voice in their head as they read? Priceless.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Exposition vs description. I want to show instead of tell, but developing the right environment for a scene can be tough for me. It's so much easier to write that the characters are cold and the ground is wet than to wax poetic about dripping leaves and frosty air. But I'm working on it.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I'm obsessed with it. I love little bits sprinkled through that make sense with context, and culturally speaking it would feel wrong not to sometimes! I'm also the type of person that's always been obsessed with languages, and instead of becoming fluent in one I've learned a smattering of a whole lot. So any opportunity to sneak in some French, Welsh, German when it makes sense? I'm taking it. And don't even get me started on Elvhen or Qunlat because I will sprinkle that shit like biodegradable glitter.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Okay I'm gonna flout this question and just write my fandoms in order:
Sherlock (circa 2010 - 2014)
Skyrim (2016)
Twilight (obsessed from 2005 - 2010 but didn't write for it until 2019 or 2020 when Midnight Sun released)
Dragon Age (March 2021 and easily the most fanfic I've ever written ever)
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
My favorite one to write was probably i'd wanna be felled by you, but my favorite to reread is Eunoia. It's most likely the most honest, least presumptuous thing I've ever written, and it's easily the longest thing I've ever attempted. I'm very proud of it.
As far as tagging goes, I've been very rude lately with it by tagging people late in the day, or tagging folks that I haven't tagged before, and am still refiguring out tumblr etiquette (since I haven't been here since the days of the skeleton war and the Mishapocalypse lmao), so presume if you see this you're tagged to participate. With no expectations nor pressure, though, I'll tag @dreadfutures, @varric-tethras-editor and @blarfkey if they'd like. <3

Fanfic writers game!
Fic Writers Game
I was tagged by @izabella95! Yay!
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
39 works. But most of them are really long. If you go by chapters there would be a couple hundred.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
548,869 words. (Wow. See? Long!)
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Originally Doctor Who, and now Good Omens.
4) What are your top five fics by kudos?
Because I missed you (and I like it when you bite) [Archive of Our Own]
Kodachrome (was: Because you move me) - [Archive of Our Own]
The Bet - megzseattle - Good Omens - [Archive of Our Own]
Modern Love (Walks Beside Me) - [Archive of Our Own]
Faeted, Part One - [Archive of Our Own]
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Oh heck yes! Comments are the best thing ever. Absolutely straight serotonin. Made some really really good friends from comments.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I’m famous for my happy endings but Tell Me Lies - [Archive of Our Own] probably comes the closest.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
No, I don’t really care for crossovers, personally. I think I’ve read one or two in my whole life. Sorry, just my preference. There was one where Buffy met the Doctor that was pretty good.
8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not in any major way. One chapter of one of the Serpent and the Seagull got a nastyish comment from a reader who had some kind of childhood trauma triggered by the way Freddie the snake talks, but it was very mild.
9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Nope, not ever. My kid reads my fanfics. She is actually very cool about having a mom who writes fanfics but if I wrote smutty fanfics? She’d die. I’d die. I write right up to the edge of it and then scenes quietly fade to black and we pick up with our heroes later.
Do I read it is a whole other question. :) :) :)
10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope. Horror. Do people do that?
11) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes I have!
12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, I think twice. Both with @zeckarin-blaise, one of my favorite people. We wrote these two and it was really fun: Of Broccoli and Roses (And Other Domestic Pursuits) - [Archive of Our Own] Through the Windows - Zeckarin, [Archive of Our Own]
13) What’s your all time favourite ship?
Oh well, obviously it’s Aziraphale x Crowley. Also quite fond of 11th Doctor x Amy. And occasionally 10th Doctor x Jack which I have written a tiny, tiny bit about.
Other favorite ships – haven’t written them, but David/Patrick on Schitt’s Creek floats my boat and I should probably write something about them someday, and of course Nicky x Joe in The Old Guard. But I will probably not expand my fanfic writing fandoms to include these.
14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I started this story about the Greek words for love and damned if I can finish it: By Any Other Name - [Archive of Our Own]
Also I hinted at a larger (and seemingly hysterical) story about Aziraphale and the Olmec king in some of my prompt fics and I’ve been meaning to get back to that and just haven’t. I can’t remember where that lives.
Also – dear to my heart but unfinished forever is the sidebar I wrote as a companion to Tell Me Lies. I wanted to do more with this and tried but got stuck: Side Project: Aziraphale's List of Lies [Archive of Our Own]
15) What are your writing strengths?
I hear from my beta that I’m really good at description. I also think I’m pretty good with snappy dialog.
16) What are your writing weaknesses?
Finding my own plot holes. Seeing where my villians need more development. Frequently despairing of any story that gets complex and needing to be talked down off a ledge.
17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve never done this, or thought about it. Well maybe I have a line or two of French somewhere. I seem to recall asking my beta Zeck how to say something once or twice.
18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who. First thing I ever wrote was chapter one of The Doctor’s Rulebook, which became quite popular back on the fanfiction.net site way back in the day. The Doctor's Rulebook - megzseattle - Doctor Who (2005) [Archive of Our Own]
19) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
It’s hard to say, but of the Serpent and the Seagull series, I’m inordinately fond of I Will Follow You Into The Dark - megzseattle - Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett [Archive of Our Own]. It was the first heavily plotted, fight scene including thing I’d ever written. I think I’ve gotten better at both of those things since.
First in my heart is my Good Omens AU that I just finished. Super long and at least half of my word count on AO3.
I don’t know who to tag! How about @zeckarin-blaise and @sevdrag (who both have way more pressing things to do) any one else who wants to play?

Note
For the writing ask: 2. - 10. - 19. - 21. - 23. - 28. - 33. - 36. - 39.
2. Anything that you'd like to write but feel like you're unable to?
One of my earliest fics was a multi-chapter story called Bad Romance, a look at the Lord Raith/Margaret LeFay relationship from beginning to end. The main problems were that I was a new inexxperienced writer and for it to be effective I needed a strong understanding of both characters, which I just didn't have. I wrote about eight rushed chapters before I realized I didn't know what I was doing. I had plans to rewrite it entirely but that fell through because a) I'm not very good at multi-chapter fics and b) I've started telling that story through scattered one-shots.
10. Top three favourite fic tropes.
There was only one bed, enemies to lovers/friends to lovers (which I prefer varies with the ship), and soulmate AU (so much possible variety!)
19. Share a snippet from a wip without giving any context for it.
"There was no need to stay up waiting for me," Raith says as he enters.
"For you?" Margaret can't resist the urge to tease him, just a little. "It was your child keeping me awake."
"Our child."
"He's your child when he's being obnoxious."
21. Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what's your secret?
I never know how long my fics are going to be. Expect 500 words? Sometimes it's closer to 300 and sometimes it ends up 2000 words.
23. Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?
It really varies. Sometimes I get sharp, snappy dialogue but other times it feels like all the characters sound the same (don't know how it comes across to readers). I'm good at describing emotions I think but less so with scenery.
28. Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?
One thing I do is write out the story or chapter in my head, to get a feel of what I want it to be. Then I write out an outline of relevant 'steps' I want the fic to follow. I think the structure helps me when I actually write the fic, even when I stray from the outline.
33. Give your writing a compliment.
I'm good at writing messy characters, I think? Take Thomas as a example. He's caused harm to innocent people and sometimes I write about that, his struggle with the harm he's caused (willingly or not) and wondering how much guilt he should feel, as well as deciding between what is morally right and what would let him survive just a little longer.
36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
It really varies. It can be a relevant song/poem line (Man hands on misery to man), something related to the theme (Death Watches), or a phrase that's literally what happens in the plot (Nightmares). I think the one I'm most fond of is Fractured Souls, a Daemons AU where White Court daemons (their literal souls) settle around the same time the Hunger awakens; the daemon's personality is stuck as they were when they settled but their person still changes over the centuries, so you get a walking soul that eventually stops reflecting the person they're tied to, therefore a fractured soul.
39. Wildest AU scenario you have written?
Maybe the all human! AU that is also an A/B/O AU where Harry is a regular detective, Thomas is a stripper, and all the magical factions are now rival mob families? I only got five chapters out of it.

Analysis on Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship
Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship to almost all in the Japanese fandom as romantic when Rin comes of age for that time period. Not only do those fans see them as what Americans call it a "Canon" couple but they are well aware of poly-amorous relationships widely accepted back in that time and era. Like how Inu no Taishou (Touga-Ou) had two wives. Where Sesshoumaru's mother was well aware of the human wife and was unphased nor appeared to be jealous. Only hinting Sesshoumaru's taste in humans (about Rin) like his father with Izayoi.
Western Culture VS Eastern Culture
Atleast 20% of the American fandom in my group while it was closed (that means members only) voted SessKagura when I ran the poll in 2019. It was 64 votes and Sesshoumaru romantic with adult Rin had 126 votes.
In a Fanpop poll SessRin had 61% and SessKagura had 39%
While I ran the poll again in 2020 as public and shared it across multiple Western fan groups which is less genuine data I had to check each profile to ensure the votes were genuine (haters tend to happen in any given anime coupling) They are able to vote even though they weren't members. This time I specifically labeled it "Romantic" or "Parental". The results within just a few hours were what I had expected. The romantic portion still surpasses the parental choice.
American Fandom VS Japanese Fandom
The American fandom majority is mostly accepting of Rin being with Sesshoumaru of age. However, the fraction that is more towards him being parental is far more than what the Eastern fandom thinks.
Two administrators of a 13,000 plus members group called Sinosphere (Eastern culture) have both spoken to me about the differences in views.
One stated (Esther Xiao) "I have never heard of this issue ever until I joined the American fandom. I've known about the gift that Rin recieves at the end of the series as an act of courting."
Tumblr media
The second admin Hiroyuki said the Japanese viewed Sesshoumaru and Rin easily as a couple of when of age. Courting being much differently than Western and the fact of it's time period.
"Contemporary courtship in Japan is more subtle than dating in the United States. The blossoming of a relationship from friendship to marriage can take years. The relationship begins as friendship, with dates taking place only in public places, typically with groups of friends present. Public displays of affection are frowned upon. The next stage is dating only as a couple, which is done discreetly. Women typically withhold displays of extreme affection and proclamations of love until she deems her suitor is sincere. When the relationship enters the stage of magkasintahan, which means the status of boyfriend and girlfriend, the couple typically makes an announcement to friends and family members, with the suitor asking for parental permission to pursue the relationship.
The man typically brings gifts when visiting the family.”
Source: https://datingtips.match.com/courtship-japan-13196896.html
Sesshoumaru stops by to visit Rin and Kaede, often giving her gifts. The kimonos are gifts representing courtship. Kaede’s is Rin’s family
An extra unaired episode was released on an audio CD only in Japan when you pre-ordered the Final Act. Where Sesshoumaru proposes to Rin. It takes place right after the Final Act’s last episode and it’s called “The Day After Tomorrow”
Rin, are you finding life in the village okay?
No one is bullying you, right?
Are you wearing the kimono that I gave you last time?
If you ever find yourself in danger, sad or depressed, no matter when, as long as you call this Sesshomaru, I will instantly run to your side.
Even if we are far from one another, as long as you call my name, I will immediately fly to you. If not shouting, you can whistle loudly or silently.
There is no distance between us, our hearts are tied together. The power of trust will win over any fear. And that affection between us is also what makes our hearts more abundant and enriched.
Therefore, you can just be yourself right now. There is enough time for me to look forward in you finding your feelings for me. Prior to this, take care of yourself……
About the CD - No, it does not have a Satire label on it from what we looked at. It  just says Asatte which means Day After Tomorrow. If you want to consider it bloopers that’s up to you. But yes, the producers and animators ship them. It is an officially licensed disc.
"Canon"
To Westerners, Canon was a term invented by the Bible.
"a collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine" To Westerners nothing else is canon except Manga.
In Japan, including the Dragon Ball Z timeline and continuity - Westerners argue that anything in their perspective that is canon is law and real/what happens. The creator of the series himself, Akira Toriyama never used these terms when it came to GT, in fact anything Westerners argued "Canon". Akira Toriyama would state that it would be apart of a side story.
"If you are able, along with me, to enjoy watching the original Dragon Ball's grand side-story Dragon Ball GT, you will be pleased."
Source: https://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5411
Still very much considered genuine by the Japanese just in a different continuity.
In Japan, Canon is not a term used. If something happens in an anime series it still happens regardless separate reality or not based on storyline. Unless a creator decides to make something in the future that erases the event from a timeline.
Even when Akira Toriyama was re-desigining Broly to fit into the Super series, here’s what he had to say -
“I went ahead and watched the movies from back then, and I felt this could be quite interesting once I rearrange some things. I got right to work trying my hand at a story that incorporates him into the Dragon Ball Super series.”
Source: https://comicbook.com/anime/2018/07/09/dragon-ball-super-movie-broly-canon-akira-toriyama-anime/
Star Wars Canon arguments...
Here's where American perspective on Canon fails. If a creator sells of the rights for anyone to use their character in an agreement they are allowed to twist the perspective on story reality. Disney bought the rights to Star Wars and the creator has absolutely no say whatsoever. Disney decides what is "Canon" and what isn't. That is why Americanized "Canon" is solely based on perspective.
Let's be real here, if something is officially licensed and approved it is still apart of continuity in one way or another no matter how you slice it.
Westerners and Easterners see the world differently
Source (Thanks Mod Esther for supplying)
https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn7882-westerners-and-easterners-see-the-world-differently/
“There is plenty of anecdotal evidence suggesting that Western and East Asian people have contrasting world-views,” explains Richard Nisbett, who carried out the study. “Americans break things down analytically, focusing on putting objects into categories and working out what rules they should obey,” he says.
By contrast, East Asians have a more holistic philosophy, looking at objects in relation to the whole. “Figuratively, Americans see things in black and white, while East Asians see more shades of grey,” says Nisbett. “We wanted to devise an experiment to see if that translated to a literal difference in what they actually see.”
The researchers tracked the eye-movements of two groups of students while they looked at photographs. One group contained American-born graduates of European descent and the other was comprised of Chinese-born graduate students who came to the US after their undergraduate degrees
Each picture showed a striking central image placed in a realistic background, such as a tiger in a jungle. They found that the American students spent longer looking at the central object, while the Chinese students’ eyes tended to dart around, taking in the context"
By rules that some Westerners are raised to follow when it comes to Sesshoumaru and Rin: If you save someone at a young age they are automatically considered your child regardless by blood. Rin was only with Sesshoumaru for one year and with Kaede for three years.
They are also not thinking of the Japanese culture or time period.
Nisbett hopes that his work will change the way the cultures view each other. “Understanding that there is a real difference in the way people think should form the basis of respect.”
Respecting the time period and Japan's culture. Kagome teaches us that in the series.
In the series Miroku proposes to many young girls even Koharu when she was age 11 in Chapter 147 and Episode 41. But she comes back as a 14 year old.
Tumblr media
At first Sango and Kagome were mad thinking Miroku was perverted with her when she was 11. But he tells them that nothing happened between them. They believed him. Sango was also furiously jealous of Koharu!
Tumblr media
Kagome states "Things were way different back then.” Stating her respect for the time period and culture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ayame was the same age as Rin when Kouga proposed to her when she was 8 years old. She grew up, and they got married.
InuYasha is 200 and Kagome was 15. She became 18 then they married.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rumiko Takahashi’s Fire Tripper - There’s time traveling back in forth from Feudal Japan to Modern Era. The boy Shu was brought in with her family and the girl was sent back in time with him where he thinks that’s his little sister. Then as she’s older she’s back in time once more, he wants to make her his wife then realizes she must be his little sister. But she says they aren’t because they are not related by blood. They get married. Pretty much an the same type of pairing.
Age of consent in Japan.
As you know Rin is 8 years old when she is first introduced into the series. 3 years go by and she is 11. Had been living with Kaede for 3 years since Naraku had been defeated. InuYasha states that it's up to her to decide on "what she wants" in the final chapter.
In the proposal Sesshoumaru states that there is enough time for her to decide.
Age of consent in Japan is 13
https://www.ageofconsent.net/world/japan
Back then once you hit puberty that was your adulthood. The world was a much more dangerous place and you had to mature, fast.
The audio episode is officially licensed and produced by the same staff that made the anime but that isn't the only supporting evidence we have that it's accepted by not only the creator and producers.
We actually have the official Adult Rin design.
The character designer and animator for the InuYasha series posted these official artworks of Adult Rin and Sesshoumaru

Rumiko Takahashi wrote strict rules to the animators to follow for each character on what you can/cannot do with them. One of them being, Kagome's skirt must always be covering her underwear.

When you work for a company and produce things you must represent the characters properly so you are not sued. There are rules Rumiko Takahashi gave the animators to properly represent her characters.
To the Japanese, and many Easterners. Sesshoumaru and Rin, InuYasha and Kagome, Ayame and Kouga maturing together - Falling in love with eachother is not an issue.
To a fraction of Westerners it’s led to hate and dis-respect to the time period and Japanese culture. However, even if you don’t like it - Shouldn’t mean you should disrespect one another over it.

Just to answer any questions. Yes I like Kagura and Sesshoumaru, or Adult Rin and Sesshoumaru, Kohaku and Rin. But I can care less who he or she ends up with. I don't even care if they really did end up being father and daughter figure. But from how I see it right now from what we have Kaede adopted Rin. If that's different I'm absolutely accepting of it. I also did tons of research, polls, and asked real Eastern Sinosphere members about how they feel and think about it!
All we know right now for fact that the production team like them as a couple and the kids are half demon.
What do I not condone is the name calling and the people who go out of their way to attack others. I think it's absolutely wrong to hate on eachother over a series we should all be family about. I don't go out of my way to search people's blogs to attack them. There are ships I don't like but I never go and attack them for it. Why would I take away from THEIR happiness?
I hope that clears anything up. Thank you for reading!
