It had been well over a year since (name) joined the family, the tiny Omega fitting perfect and now at 3 and a half he was very much taking after his adoptive dad's "spiceee!" He said excitedly as Katsuki prepared dinner, standing on his high stool to help "yeah! Gonna make it damn spicy! Now add a bit in here" Katsuki pre proportioned the seasonings so the boy could help, a tiny apron that says "sous chef" on it.

(Name) loved helping his dad's with anything they did, trying to do fitness with them to daily chores, they even spent a few hundred on a child sized functional vacuum so then at least he was actually doing something. "There's my two favorite men" Eijiro said as he kissed Katsuki and blew a raspberry on his sons cheek, a sweet giggle leaving his lips "papa!"

The three always had dinner together or at least tried, aiming for 3 nights a week where they ate together, usually one or the other was home thanks to their jobs and ability to schedule "how was preschool?" Kirishima asked as he ate his dinner and (name) beamed "I counted to ten!" He beamed, Katsuki already hearing this story eight times but he will hear it a ninth as his son was so proud of his newfound knowledge "really? Well lay it on me!"

Of course his counting and alphabets were always remixed as he was just shy of four.

"Woo! Heck yeah!" Eijiro always the proud dad, hyped his little son on and (name) beamed.

After dinner, the family did dishes together before bath time and a few cartoons, (name) watching happily before bed.

"Uh-huh... He did what?" Katsuki was in the office with Eijiro when they got the call from (name)s preschool of their darling boy...

"How'd ya manage this?" Katsuki asked his son, crouching to his level as (name) beamed "I got my quirk papa!"

"I can see that bud..." The quirk in question?

The ability to turn pictures into reality for a temporary period... And (name) managed to turn a lion from a story book into reality, thankfully a teacher turned the inky lion back into its book.

"I guess I know what we're doing after this" Katsuki checked his watch, there was only an hour left till he had to get him...

Kirishima met up with them, the redhead cooing at (name)s little uniform as if he didn't dress the Omega this morning "papa! I have a quirk!"

"Daaaang, look at our early bloomer!" Eijiro said lifting the boy high up before walking to the quirk clinic to get registered, (name) beaming at the promise of ice cream after.

"Messy..." Katsuki teased his pup whose face was covered in ice cream, a small bowl of it as the two looked fondly at him, their little chaos pup.

He was going to be a force one day that's for sure.

Hi there! would you know any good (and also free?) sources for norse mythology?

Dr. Jackson Crawford's YouTube Channel is the first thing I can think of. He worked in academia, and his videos are useful for clarifying misconceptions about Norse mythology.

I have been using this one a lot lately in some of my comparison posts. I got a screenshots from it for my Loki+Odin=Marvel!Loki post.

There are some John Lindow books on the Internet Archive (and I encourage donations to the Internet Archive as they're being sued by book publishers for the crime of actually owning titles rather than temporary book licenses).

I can send you a link to a free book website on DMs, because I don't want to see it go away.

I'd also check what your library system has in store, just in case.

My current title is Visiting Assistant Professor, and this is my 5th year in that position. The term "visiting" means I am on a year-to-year contract with no guaranteed renewal, and there is no option for tenure or promotion. It's not a great thing, but it's often a temporary, starter position out of a PhD in my field. Typically, though, it's about 3 years.

I have essentially been on the job market every year since I got here, and it has just gotten worse and worse. I started out getting multiple interviews and a few short-lists, but this year I got nothing. No interviews at all. It's just such a saturated job market, and academia is a hot mess. It really is a roll of the dice if you land a tenure-track position these days.

My program has been saying that we need a new Tenure Track position my entire time here with me as the ideal candidate, but the dean and provost hadn't made many (if any) moves over the years. Over winter break, I finally decided it was time to stop being beaten up by the academic job market, stop waiting for loyalty from my current employers, and to look seriously at non-academic jobs and start preparing for the transition. And last week, my boss contacted me that we finally got the go ahead to do a hire for fall 2023.

Legally, it has to be an open search. I could still not get it, but... I may actually get the dream job after all? To say I've been feeling every single emotion under the sun is an understatement. It's definitely a bittersweet feeling. I am not very trusting of it right now, but I am going to apply and pursue it.. because it's been the dream for YEARS! I guess fingers crossed!

How long had it been since she had seen a real sunrise? How long had it been since she had truly seen the color of the sky? How long had she remained so closed off from the world? A shadow passed over Emily's face as her heart tightened, and she delved into the abyss of her memories, her eyes drifting aimlessly. She lost touch with reality, sinking deeper into the spiral of her past, searching for the face of her mother. "Miss Hastings?" The deep voice with a pronounced Midwestern accent startled her, abruptly cutting the thread of her thoughts and bringing her back to the present. Turning her attention to the young man who now stood beside her, she offered a smile that did not reach her eyes, and he furrowed his brow, growing a bit more concerned. However, he didn't comment and simply handed her a metal cup emitting wisps of steam and a strong, bitter aroma reminiscent of her childhood. "Your coffee," he added simply.

"What are your thoughts on this?" she asked him, surprising him with her inquiry amidst the weighty atmosphere of the meeting. Takehiko shifted his gaze back to the stone wall in front of him, his mind racing to formulate a response that would live up to the princess's expectations, his hands crossed behind his back in a gesture of contemplation and restraint. "I… I don't know, your highness," he replied after clearing his throat, his voice steady yet laced with a hint of uncertainty. "Perhaps… perhaps we could offer our assistance with the beast problem, and in turn, they could lend us aid." The gray-skinned princess looked at him with a smile, a glimmer of appreciation shining in her colorless eyes. She recognized not only the young man’s experience but also the wisdom imparted by the teachings of a royal heir in his response. The intelligence he displayed at this moment sparked a connection between them. Her smile grew wider, a silent acknowledgment of his contribution. Takehiko fell silent, waiting for the princess to speak further. His mind swirled with questions. Why did she seek his opinion? Did she truly need him to answer? Would she listen, regardless? The sweet voice of Mani'herja interrupted his thoughts, bringing him back to the present. "That's a good idea, Takehiko," she praised him, her voice carrying a note of approval. She turned her attention back to the older man, her gaze unwavering.

Dark Academia: (Not the final title. Magic School with murders and intrigue.)

This couldn't be happening. The email she had woken up to stated that they had received a notification from her supposed mentor at another university, leading to her removal from the list of students for the upcoming academic year. The very idea felt like a cruel jest, a twist of fate she couldn't understand. Melody had never heard of any other university or mentor. It had to be an error, she thought, and that's why she was desperately searching for Lyon 3's secretary's phone number. She intended to contact them and rectify the misunderstanding, to get her well-structured life back on track. Her trembling fingers hovered over her phone's screen, scrolling through the contact list of the university's website. As her eyes settled on the entry, she was about to tap it with her index finger. Just then, a notification popped up right under it. In her frenzied state, she accidentally accessed it. The email message opened before her eyes, revealing an enigmatic scholarship offer. The words on the screen sent a shiver down her spine when she realized it wasn't from the university she had known. Instead, it hailed from an institution known as "The Academia." Melody had never heard of such a place.

He raised a surprised look to her, and his eyes landed on the single tear that rolled down the cheek of the young redhead. Despite her desire to appear dignified, this salty drop had breached the barriers of her will, splashing onto the festive tablecloth covering their table. No one dared to speak, but the noise of the guests masked from the elders the spectacle that was unfolding right before their eyes. Time seemed suspended, and, unable to bear any more, the young Princess raised her chin, composed, and in a voice filled with sadness, she said: "I thank the Gods for giving me the most abominable man in marriage." With these words, and before the entire assembly, she stood up and excused herself from the table. She claimed the aftermath of the ceremony and the stress as a reason to request permission from the Shogun to retire to her chambers. The old man shot a quick angry glance at his son and granted his daughter-in-law the right to leave the room. She did so with measured and deliberate steps in front of all the guests. Once she had disappeared behind the door frame, Tomoyoshi locked eyes with his cousin and said in a cold voice: "Anata wa saite. [You are the worst. (In Japanese)]" And those were the last words spoken throughout the entire meal.

& like. obviously this isn't the happy ending he wanted right. like he didn't save shigaraki and it's eating away at him. i'm not so sure this series deserved a happy ending though? i dunno. obviously it's not over yet (as i said before). it is kind of awkward though, that deku's heroics were temporary (as far as we know, as far as his dialogue implies, as far as the title working together with the story implies ([his] hero academia is over; we are in the epilogue now)) and he never got to realize his final goal. it is a bit of a taunt. like the universe, the story itself is mocking him for trying, even though it's given him anything else he ever wanted in the leadup to it. weird fucking angle. i don't know where i was going with this

They tend to avoid the main character because they don't want to die or be killed by being on the front lines with Traveler and Paimon.
