Hand-painted blue roses climbed over the exterior of the elegant fruit bowl, the piece still one of my favorites despite the nocked rim on its everted lip. Or perhaps because of it. Each chip represented a memory, a good one, and I had few enough of those not to care if the reminders carried jagged edges.

Hello! I love the recommendations you've done so far.
I was hoping if you could provide me with some recommendations for AU Destiel Detective fics?
Thank you so much. Keep up the good work!
hey! Thank you, here are a few:
A Beginner's Guide to Communing with the Dead by suspiciousflashlight [Mature, 77k words]
Maybe it's the little girl whose disappearance turned into a murder, and whose murder turned into a cold case, and who has now apparently decided to move in with him. Maybe it's the unacceptable hole left in his life when his dumb best friend and partner in (the prevention of) crime decided to go and get himself killed. Maybe it's his brother, whose high-profile career and fantastic girlfriend and first-child-on-the-way are steadily leaving Dean in the dust. Pick one. Pick all of them. The why doesn't matter so much as the what, and the what is this: Dean is pretty sure he's going completely, certifiably insane. Sure, he hasn't started wearing all his clothes inside out, and he still showers on a regular basis (anyways, that's not crazy, just a little eccentric); but there's no getting around the fact that he just threw away his life, his career, and his reputation by dragging out his mom's old necromancy book and summoning a Class A Forbidden Entity to his attic. A cranky one, too. With horrendous bed-head.
As The Sparrow by hubrisandwax [Explicit, 18k words]
It’s 1947. Dean is an ex-marine fighting crime and a very different sort of war to the one he faced in the Pacific as a detective on the streets of LA. This city isn’t all the glitz and glamor it’s made out to be, however, and Dean finds himself tugged in to a world of life-threatening unknowns when Daphne Novak’s body is discovered. Castiel Novak, her husband, was one of Dean’s battalion mates in the war, and he's just as deadly and dangerous as he was two years ago when he saved Dean’s life during the Battle of Okinawa. Except now he’s wanted for his wife’s murder, and Dean just doesn’t believe Cas is capable of that. Is Cas really who he says he is, though? And what will Dean have to sacrifice in order to repay the debt he feels he owes?
Casicorn by everandanon [Explicit, 56k words]
When Detective Dean Winchester suddenly finds himself with a new roommate, a mysterious man who doesn’t speak but seems to somehow be connected to the department’s recent vigilante problem, he has no idea what he’s in for. The guy doesn’t know how to work a TV, brush his teeth, or even take a shower, and he stares at Dean all the goddamn time. Not to mention he insists on sleeping in Dean’s bed. While Dean is in it! Weird, right? Except the longer Cas sticks around, the less Dean starts to mind; the more he kind of dreads Cas leaving for good, actually, even though nobody really knows who Cas is or where he came from. And then, one night, Dean happens to witness their vigilante firsthand and realizes he knows Cas even less than he thought . . . (Loosely inspired by The Little Mermaid)
Chronicles Of A Serial Killer by Duckyboos [Explicit, 52k words]
Dean Winchester has the perfect apple pie life with his shy-but-sweet boyfriend in the suburbs. He has a steady, well-paid job with the LAPD and he’s charming and attractive. Really, he’s living the American Dream. It’s his extra-curricular activities that some may disagree with, as he’s also an accomplished serial killer. To date, his kills amount to around 36 and he’s never been caught. He’s employed by the law, remember? He knows how these things work.
Grounds for Murder by cinderellasleftshoe, sarcasticbones [Explicit, 199k words]
"The weirdos in that coffee shop are always dancing, or playing 'strip Clue,' whatever that is. Once there were sock puppets, and, I'm not kidding, a cookie trebuchet." "Eyeliner?" "Really, Dean? That's all you got out of all of that. That there's maybe a bangable emo guy over there?" Dean shrugged and took another too-large bite of his sandwich. He'd been a detective with the Phoenix PD Violent Crimes bureau for three years, and he'd see a lot stranger things than sock puppets, old ladies, and strip Clue.
like a thief in the night by kingdumbass [Mature, 28k words]
Plagued by nightmares since the death of his mother as a small child, Dean Winchester is no stranger to grief. After the sudden death of his brother and the unexplainable disappearance of Sam’s fiancee Jessica leave Dean reeling, the former detective turns towards alcohol to cope with the loss, but when the news of another missing peron’s case all the way out in Pontiac, Illinois jogs Dean’s memory of an old unsolved case with possible connections to the mysterious note his brother left behind, he feels compelled to pick up where he left off. Though once he rolls into town, he encounters more questions than answers. Namely: what’s real and what’s delusion? And how is the creature from his nightmares tormenting the residents of this small, suburban town?
The Trouble With Blue Eyes by FriendofCarlotta [Explicit, 14k words]
For years now, Dean Winchester has had a mutually beneficial arrangement with Castiel Novak, a fellow private eye. It’s good, it’s easy, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Well, except for one thing: Dean’s caught himself a bad case of feelings, and Cas doesn’t feel the same way.
What Once Was Sacred by saltandbyrne [Explicit, 55k words]
Los Angeles detective Dean Winchester works tirelessly to atone for the sins of his father one case at a time. When his best friend Charlie drags him to visit Sam at his new job, Dean stumbles onto a bizarre string of deaths that brings him uncomfortably close to his past. Dean can't stop thinking about Castiel, an enigmatic DJ who plays the sexiest music Dean's ever heard. A chance encounter at Castiel's house reveals that Castiel is an incubus, and Dean must face the lies and the reality of his childhood as a hunter. Dean comes to see that he and Castiel have more in common than he thought, and that guilt can be the hardest thing to cast aside.

Beginner's Guide to Defying Death
Rating: PG Genre: Analysis (Class, Lore, Characters) Characters: Gorrik, Ankka, Blish Words: ~ 1,500 Summary: Gorrik looks into Necromancy 101. Timeline: Pre-Golem Blish.
Want more? Here is a Masterpost :)
AN: I really don't know what to offer for this story in terms of summary or tags, just know that I think Blish is such an interesting foil to the entire concept of “coming back from the dead”. Introducing a character like him during a storyline where we're fighting a manic Lich and his empire of the Undead certainly was… a choice. I wasn't sure how to put my thoughts down for a long while, but I think this might work.

hi! firstly, i wanted to thank you for your blog :) its actually gotten me into ttrpgs and you run a great service! secondly! im in the market for a two player ttprg for people who… haven't exactly played ttrpgs ever before! we both like the genres horror and comedy. as for mechanics, we love character creation and coming up with lore / improv on the fly! any games that fit this would be great. thank you so much, mint!
THEME: Duet Games for Beginners
Hello, and thank you so much for your message! Welcome to the hobby, there’s oodles of fantastic games out there and I’m glad that you find my posts helpful. Let’s get started, shall we?
First of all, I’m also going to shout out @jeffstormer 's Party of One podcast, which was my jumping off point for looking for 2-player games that would work for you. I heavily recommend checking him out, as he has years of experience playing (and running) games for two, regardless of whether they’re designed to be played that way.
Second of all, I tried to recommend games that either come with a lot of tools or that are pretty short, because I wanted to give you options that either really guide you through the process or don't overwhelm you with instructions. Your mileage may vary, but I hope something here stands out!
Dead Friend: A Game of Necromancy, by Ghostly Rituals.
Dead Friend is a roleplaying game for a necromancer and a ghost. That is, it's a collaborative storytelling game for two players. You will each play the role of a friend, one living and one dead. You will ask and answer questions to develop the characters, their community, their history together, and the motivations leading up to their final conflict.
The script follows the dramatic structure of a necromancy ritual, and you will use the spellbook of instructions throughout the entire game like a witch reading spells from an ancient grimoire. The mood may be spooky or intimate, heartwrenching or hilarious — it is up to you as storytellers. Dead Friend requires 1 Tarot deck or 1 deck of mundane playing cards.
I think this game looks like a good combination of horror and comedy, as it carries horrific tones but allows you to choose the mood. You’ll be answering question prompts throughout the game using tarot cards, so this is another excellent method of creating lore as you play. This game has an actual play episode of it with Jeff Stormer and Dani Costello that you can listen to if you want an example of play as well!
Standoff, by Matthew R.F. Baloušek.
The necromancer shrieks with cruel laughter, plunging the glowing dagger into the warrior's heart. "Fool! All your struggle was for naught. Your soul will be but a tasty morsel for my dark master!"
He starts to pull the dagger out, but finds his wrist stopped cold by Francesca's iron grip. She stares back with an icy glare. A glint of light catches the necromancer's eye, and he looks down to see the talisman of protection.
Wresting the dagger from the necromancer's cold hands, Francesca grins. "I hid all my vital organs in a pocket dimension!" Taking a free hand to dip a finger in what appeared to be blood, she tastes it and chortles. "You wasted the ichor of Ag'tekk on nothing more than a large ketchup packet!"
Standoff is a game where everyone works together to tell a ridiculous story full of twists, ripostes, counter-feints, and triple-double-crosses.
This is a chance to take turns one-upping each-other in a world of your own design. You’ll need a number of index cards in order to write down what you introduce to the world, but little else. What I appreciate about this game is the structure it provides - I find that structured sections and examples help new players get used to coming up with pieces as they go.
This is improv comedy at its finest - and it can also play with a larger group! There aren’t specific characters assigned to each player, but if you want to take more responsibility for either the Protagonist or the Antagonist then you should still be able to do that. This game looks exceptional, and I hope you check it out!
What’s A Vapourwave, by fen slattery.
A two-player, 200 word RPG about explaining vaporwave to your grandpa. Based on a true story.
One player is Casey, who kinda knows what vaporwave is. Another is Grandpa, who loves Casey and wants to understand their life. Played via text message.
This is a simple game that can be played via text message that navigates a humorous attempt at a grandfather doing his best to understand his grandchild. I love the aesthetic of this game, and I can see how easy it is to let the conversation within this game devolve into hilarity.
Heart Full of Trash, by StarshineScribbles.
Heart Full Of Trash is a 2-player roleplaying game where you play as raccoons on a date!
Sort your recycling as you create your characters and tell the story of their romantic endeavours. Will your date be a triumph or will your raccoons develop a deep and long-lasting friendship?
Either way, by the time the game is over, your recycling will be sorted and ready for correct disposal.
This is an adorably cute game that leans much closer to the comedy side of your request. The two of you will actually sort your recycling as you role-play - so since you’re using something you already have in your house, you don’t need to go and buy any extra gaming materials! This game is a bit closer to an improve game as well, so it might be a good introduction for someone who is less familiar with traditional character sheets and rolling dice.
You’re in Space and Everything’s Fucked, by Nevyn Holmes.
You’re in Space and Everything’s Fucked is a love letter to sci-fi cosmic horror and gore-filled splatter films.
You're In Space And Everything's Fucked emulates the trappings of isolation space horror video games through the lens of a tabletop role-playing game and is inspired by similarly fucked-up situations found in the Dead Space, System Shock, and Alien franchises.
The Station takes on the role of monsters and setting; generating both as the Struggler explores. They take a bird's-eye-view of the story and throw obstacles and objectives at the Struggler.
The Struggler fills the boots of the hapless sap that ended up in this situation. They scavenge, sneak, and generally work to survive by any means necessary in the face of horrifying creatures and untrustworthy NPCs.
The Demo version of this game is designed for two players, although it looks like the Kickstarter that Dinoberry Press ran back in March is for a bigger game down the road. The game includes a character creation section, a hint of map generation, and a handful of generated Boss Monsters! Because you generate the map as you go, I think this gives you a chance to come up with lore as you go. If you want chilling horror and a constant struggle for survival, this is the game for you.

Beginner's Guide to Death Magick
─•✦•─
Content Warning for Death and The Dead
─•✦•─
What is Death Magick ?
─•✦•─
Death Magick is the use of the death in your craft. The death can be a physical representation but it does not have to be. Although the exact origin is hard to pinpoint, this practice has been in many different cultures and religions for many years.
As Death Magick is very versatile, each practitioner has a different way of going about it. Death Magick can include, but not limited to, working with ancestors, spirit work, bone work, cemetery work, deceased animals/insects, dead/dying plants, Necromancy and more. Death Magick can help with overcoming death related trauma.
─•✦•─
Necromancy is a Type of Death Magick
─•✦•─
I often read and hear people use Death Magick and Necromancy interchangeably. Necromancy is the art of divination with the dead. While Death Magick contains all other forms of working with death energy and death. Not every Death Witch is a Necromancer but every Necromancer is a Death Witch.
─•✦•─
Graveyard Etiquette
─•✦•─
While not every witch partakes in going to graveyards, for many practitioners it is a huge part of their craft. A very basic explanation is the guidelines set in place to ensure you respect the dead as well as protect yourself from the spirits that inhabit the graveyard. Respect should be given to living and the dead equally.
─•✦•─
Is Death Magick Demonic or Evil ?
─•✦•─
No and no. Death Magick being an evil practice is a misconception. While a witch may work with demons not every practitioner has a desire to/needs to. Death Magick has been used for a lot of good as well. A portion of Death Witches use Death Magick to assist spirits in being laid to rest.
─•✦•─
Can You Practice Death Magick ?
─•✦•─
Yes ! Death Magick is open to anyone and everyone regardless of race, gender or religion.

How do I become a male witch
If your wanting to become a witch and start practicing witchcraft I would suggest the following (In a nutshell and quick/simple) Do research: On the topic, maybe look at crystals and pick a few to understand what they can help with, read some books about it and actually see if it's something you want to do and make a practice into your daily life. Pick a certain thing that intrigues you (like necromancy, ancestral work or doing just candle magic). Really dive into it and study what makes your soul happy. Maybe look into a deity you pulled towards. Self-work: I would suggest learning grounding techniques and how to meditate (if you can't that's ok, it happens). Learning about yourself and knowing that you want to work on yourself to become better. Maybe learning about shadow work. Try and see if you can listen to a guided meditation to meet your spirit guides. Honor yourself and those who came before you in your family. Write down dreams and learn if you are lucid dreaming and or how to. Open your third eye and work through the barriers you have that are limiting. The craft: For beginners, I will always suggest doing protection magic and spells. It is so important during your journey. There will be people and entities who will target you. Sigil magic is great for beginners as well along with doing candle magic. Once you start doing these and getting your feet wet then I would suggest making a spell bottle and growing from then on.
I know I didn't go into detail very well but these videos should help. Also for the most part (correct me if I'm wrong) but it doesn't matter your gender <3

🔥 Day 2 at the Institution of Eldritch Academia – Congratulations, You’re F*cked 🔥
Welcome Back, You Poor, Unfortunate Bastard.
If you’re reading this, it means you survived Day 1. That’s honestly a shock.
Statistically, at least 6% of the first-year class disappears within the first 24 hours. (And by "disappears," we mean either digested, possessed, or screaming somewhere between dimensions.) But hey, congrats on dodging the first culling! 🎉
Now, let’s get to Day 2. It’s orientation time, baby—or as the upperclassmen call it, “Figure out how f*cked you really are” day.
🔮 Mandatory Course #1: Practical Necromancy – or How to Be Your Own Emergency Contact
💀 Professor: Dr. Alzareth (Decomposing, but still tenured) 💀 Syllabus: ✔ How to reanimate yourself after a “mishap.” ✔ Basic corpse etiquette – stop leaving body parts in communal spaces. ✔ What to do when your summoned undead decides it doesn’t like taking orders.
🔥 Important: If you hear whispering voices during the lecture, DO NOT ANSWER. That’s not participation. That’s how the VOID CLAIMS YOUR SOUL.
📖 Textbook: “Raising the Dead for Dummies (And By Dummies, We Mean Future Corpses)”
📌 Excerpt: “Congratulations! If you’re reading this, it means your first resurrection attempt has likely failed, and you are now the proud parent of an abomination that despises your existence. We’ll walk you through how to fix your mistakes—or at least, how to blame someone else.”
🩸 Mandatory Course #2: Blood Magic – Read the Fine Print Before You Start Bleeding
🧛 Professor: Lady Varossa (Last seen in mirrors only.) 🧛 Syllabus: ✔ The difference between a life-saving blood ritual and a dumbass goth phase. ✔ How much of your own blood you can lose before “oops, too much.” ✔ When that contract says “firstborn,” we mean it.
🔥 IMPORTANT: If your blood starts boiling mid-lecture, congrats! You’ve been marked for something. No, you don’t get to know what.
📖 Textbook: “Bleed Responsibly – A Beginner’s Guide to Not F*cking Dying”
📌 Excerpt: “Remember, kids, there’s a difference between ‘I sacrificed some blood for knowledge’ and ‘I am now legally owned by a deity I didn’t research.’ If you feel faint, consume iron. If you feel whispers in your skull, that’s your problem now.”
🕳️ Mandatory Course #3: Dimensional Studies – What’s That Thing Crawling Out of the Ceiling?
👁️ Professor: Unnamed Entity (Office located somewhere between time and space.) 👁️ Syllabus: ✔ Portal etiquette – don’t f*cking touch things. ✔ How to tell if you’ve been replaced by a doppelgänger. ✔ Signs that you’ve “accidentally” merged realities.
🔥 WARNING: If you blink and find yourself in a version of the classroom where everyone is slightly wrong, you failed the homework assignment.
📖 Textbook: “So You’ve Opened a Portal: 10 Steps to Undoing Your Dumbass Mistake”
📌 Excerpt: “If you hear whispers coming from a door that wasn’t there yesterday, DO NOT INVESTIGATE. That is not an invitation. That is the void testing your survival instincts.”
💀 Daily Survival Tips (Read These If You Like Breathing)
1️⃣ DO NOT eat anything offered by the faculty. It’s not food. 2️⃣ If you hear scratching inside your dorm walls, don’t acknowledge it. It gets bolder. 3️⃣ Midnight "study groups" in the graveyard are not about studying. They are about sacrifices. If you’re invited, you are the sacrifice. 4️⃣ If the Librarian asks if you want to “see true knowledge,” the answer is NO. 5️⃣ The janitor is older than the school itself. He is not human. Do not disrespect him.
🔥 Student Testimonials – Because We Care (Legally, We Don’t)
📝 “I was a bio major before this. Now I’m legally dead in three dimensions but getting straight A’s, so I guess it’s a win?” – Greg, Yr 2 📝 “I failed my first necromancy quiz. My professor reanimated me and told me to do better. I think I respect him now.” – Selene, Yr 1 📝 “I blinked in Dimensional Studies and woke up in a version of reality where my roommate is a horse. Not sure if that’s better or worse.” – Jake, Yr 3
🔥 Final Verdict: If You’re Still Alive by Day 3, You’re Doing Something Wrong
✔ Survival isn’t guaranteed. ✔ Your GPA doesn’t matter if you get consumed by eldritch horrors first. ✔ If you want to drop out, too f*cking bad.
💀 See you in class. Or in whatever reality you end up in.
🔥 REBLOG if you’d enroll just for the chaos. 💬 COMMENT if you think you’d survive past midterms. 🚀 FOLLOW for more no-bullsh*t takes on cursed academia.

peter's first spells (hc);
i can't be normal about pete and magic so here's a little list of some of the first spells he learns: wards. this is of extreme use in pretty much all verses, for even when he expels paimon in verses where he's possessed like the about page details, there's still that link between them. it's the same as being able to manage mental health difficulties but never being able to get rid of them; you've seen that darkness now, know it, and it knows you too. peter can regain his autonomy and can live a relatively normal life as per his recovery arc, but paimon will always fuck with him in the ways he knows how and can. therefore wards help minimise this. in verses where the cult is actively after him, it can slow their efforts and grant peter some resistance to certain types of black magic. WARDS DON'T GRANT IMMUNITY; they simply lessen the effect of an opposing magic/entity (as specified by the wielder) and allow a user to take more damage. wards also don't stop enemies from using wards against you. you may 'stack' wards to a certain point, but eventually their effect is maximised. and now ward(s) doesn't sound like a word—
light spell. in a world largely without functioning power, torches are everything. that being said, torches require batteries, and batteries are neither easy to find nor particularly plentiful when a few years have gone by. so what about a torch that never goes out unless the one who created it stops powering it? tl;dr: peter can summon a small ball of light atop his staff that functions like a torch. over time, as he becomes stronger/more disciplined, the radius of this spell increases. with practise, he moves from the ball of light to being able to cast it, lighting up an entire room/cavern.
location spells. when a lot of survivability is hinged on working as a cohesive unit, it pays to be aware of where your people are. with magic, peter is able to tie himself to specific people and be guided to them. this isn't a physical thing, moreso a spiritual 'feeling energies' kind of deal. while he can tie himself to objects too, there are more caveats to doing so ( quite like a cadaver dog needs a scent, peter needs a general understanding of the object; he also needs to have touched it, or something/someone closely connected to it, to tie himself to it ). at first, he can only connect with one person/thing, though this limit increases as he continues with his training.
light telekinesis. this is a very broad spell and has a wide abundance of techniques to master. it's easy to learn and use at its lowest level, ever so difficult to master and hone without ramifications and risk. it's an incredibly high skill ceiling spell, and peter undoubtedly has trouble with it. at its lowest level, peter is able to disturb and move objects without physically touching them, draw objects to him without physically touching him and launch objects away from him with relative force without physically touching them. the radius for this is quite small, but extends dramatically with practise. how much power the spell drains depends on the object he's trying to influence and for how long.
note: these are just peter's beginning spells, things he deems to be of the highest importance that are also within his skill level as a beginner. keep in mind that he is both human and has no previous experience with witchcraft/the occult/magic. over time, he comes to learn a multitude of different spells, such as healing, elemental magic, soul transfusions and bonding, demon entrapment, necromancy and many more.

In the back of your mind, you hear a familiar chanting - you recognize the words, poorly intoned as they are, out of Kezir-Ad-Dunar's 'In Defiance of Death.' Out of force of habit, you begin to chant the words yourself, correcting the mistakes made by this neophyte who deigns to butcher the forbidden tongue. As the words leave you, finishing the ritual, your senses sharpen and everything comes into focus as you rise from an unearthed casket, your bony form shocking your rescuer.
"It... it worked! I can't believe it, I've finally done it!"
"Mm, so it would appear. You're lucky Kezir's work is forgiving to beginners - Mistakes like that with Blackwell's rituals would likely make the recipient mad with hunger for living flesh to compensate for the lack of resuscitating adjuvants. Probably doesn't hurt that I know the words and forms far better than you do."
The young man in front of you stammers at your chiding. You take in your surroundings. Dark, cramped, and smelling of.. ugh. Well, that explains how he accomplished your revival, but gods only know how he managed to get this far with such a rudimentary understanding.
"You do know you can mask the stench of sheep shit with verbena and sandalwood without compromising its alchemical properties, don't you? It's a wonder your neighbors haven't called the guards. Honestly, did your mentor not teach you anything?"
"...I don't have a mentor."
If you still had eyes, you would have blinked in surprise. "You did this without any prior training?"
"I've been working out of this notebook I found. It's written in a foreign language. I translated as best I could."
Your notebook. Written in cipher. In retrospect, it's a miracle he got this far. Ambitious, but not very wise. Reminds you of... well, you, when you were his age.
"Kid. Do you know how bad botched necromancy can turn out? Why the hell are you playing with fire?"
He shrugs. "I'm... not really good at anything else. This is the first thing I've done that I really like doing."
You sigh. "Okay, look, you need a teacher or you're like as not to get disemboweled by your next project. You've got the drive for this sort of work, you just need a guiding hand... and to air out this cellar, phew. I'll teach you what you need to know. You help me get back in the saddle, I'll make sure you don't start an apocalypse. Deal?"
"Deal." The two of you shake hands. This will be an... interesting partnership.
You were once the greatest necromancer to ever exist. But millenia after being slain, you awaken to find yourself resurrected by someone clearly a novice.

Thieves Guild Summary (5/6/24)
Dibbe and Nat gra-Ruj had scouted an imperial villa some weeks prior. It had the potential to hold a box of Harruda, a rare alchemical plant typically found in the Deadlands. Dib brought Nat to scout it as a sort of induction and training mission for the Thieves Guild, and it went very well.
It was a decent estate, near the south-western borders of Cyrodiil. At the time they noted some guards, as well as a guest within the two guest rooms the villa hosted. They took a few minor things at the time but their breakin might still have been noticed as security was increased a bit since the duo visited the villa.
The estate had a fair bit of natural cover. A rocky cliffside flanked a portion of the estate, while trees and foliage aided the other. The approach for Dibbe and the Iliac Bay Thieves Guild was simple enough. Along with Nat gra-Ruj, Dib was joined by Sansi and the Bay’s Guildmaster, Garrett.
They noted some new additions. A new guard fully patrolled the estate but the four easily snuck past most obstacles, three of them utilizing invisibility with the Guildmaster simply relying on his years of skill. Dibbe masterfully unlocked the main door in just a couple of swift motions, not having a problem with it at all.
As the four entered, three of them heard and felt a heartbeat-like sensation. A constant thrumming and pulsing. Sansi identified the source as being below them, but has yet to determine the purpose. Of the four, only Nat did not feel or hear the sensation, but Dibbe made note of it during their scouting mission. Previously, Dibbe had herself checked by mages for curses and hexes, but came back clean. Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to be a curse on the house. Or maybe it yet still is.
They got to work on the first floor. Narrowly avoiding being detected by an upstairs guard, but mostly had free reign as they broke into various display cases. The kitchen didn’t yield much, Dibbe grabbed an ornate drinking horn with jade lining, while Garrett fetched some basic potions. It was a kitchen, one really does wonder what the two really expected to get out of there.
Dibbe helped Sansi grab a painting, and Nat grabbed an enchanted golden whistle, later identified as a spectral raven summoning. Once it was later tested, it turned out to be a very bright and glowing non-sentient creature, and Nat reconsidered keeping it. Just a simple enchanted scout that couldn’t be shot down (though possibly dispelled by enemy mages).
Moving upstairs, it became more complicated. Dibbe botched a basic coin-toss but the distracting sound still led the guest out of her guestroom which still gave the group intel.
Everyone followed Dibbe’s lead, and after a moment of thinking she decided a distraction. Everything they all did was with hand signals, as the house was occupied and they could not speak freely even in low whispers. She had Sansi disable a low-hanging lighting fixture that caused the guard and guest to rush downstairs to take care of it before the flames caused further damage. This bought them some time.
Dib quickly noted that the big safe that was there during her and Nat’s scouting mission had vanished. However, Nat was quick to point out that the tapestry and nightstand had been altered, no longer centered to the room. Dibbe rolled up the tapestry and found that in the weeks since their visit, the owner had dug into the wall to affix the safe within. Clever!
The guest rooms were fairly slim pickings, Garrett found some enchanted leather armor, later identified to allow a basic ritual cast to let the wearer speak with the dead. A sort of “beginner’s guide” to necromancy as a tool. Sansi found some Kebabs. Yum.
Most of them convened in the master bedroom, with Sansi remaining out as a scout and guard. Dibbe got to work on the safe, and it took her a couple of minutes for the wheel locks to snap into place, she managed to get it open in a single try without resorting to other means.
Within were several things of note. Various spell scrolls. A trap-rug that shocks people that step on it, a very subtle and often sought-after home defense item. An enchanted smoothstone. A golden Yokudan shortblade. Some assorted piles of gold and gems. A hell of a haul, anyone would agree.
Dibbe dispersed the goods to anyone in the team that had room in their packs left, and they all made their escape. Leaving was done very easily and simply, as the two tenants were still sweeping up the ash of the fallen light fixture. Outside, in their haste, a leg or tail might have been spotted as they made their escape outside of the villa. No real identifying features of the group were really seen, and signs of a breakin would soon become very obvious to the owner of the estate in no time at all.
Reconvening at Dibbe’s base, a brief post-mission discussion was had. Dibbe decided to buy the shock-rug outright, letting the funds go directly to the Guild’s coffers. She could think of several uses for a personal trapped rug. Nat decided against asking to keep the Raven Whistle, as the bright and shiny raven didn’t suit her ‘vibe’. After some goodbyes were had, Nat lingered behind to ask Dibbe for advice on a personal matter.
Attendees: Dibbe, Garrett, Sansi, Nat gra-Ruj.
Haul: Raven Whistle (Summons a spectral raven that follows basic commands. Not sentient. Desummons after a few minutes) Bejeweled Jade Skull Jade Drinking Horn Large Painting (x2) Golden Imperial Bust Enchanted Leather Armor (Allows a daily ritual cast to allow the wearer to speak with the dead) Golden Yokudan Shortblade A Trap-Rug (Shocks people who stand on it, Dib bought it outright) Eon Stone (Allows for a powerful long blast towards an enemy)

Gregor has a few hobbies, though they mainly center around his main interests and priorities. The one he’s most proud of is his time as a writer!
He has written one book: “Undeath and You: A Commonfolk’s Guide to Necromancy, Holding On, and Letting Go” which he technically began writing before he was a lich. At first the book was intended to only be a simple guide to beginner’s necromancy, but became that as well as a message that loss is inevitable; not even magic can stop that forever, and that’s a good thing.
He didn’t sell many copies, but he didn’t really want to. Instead, he “donated” copies to other libraries (he just used The Library to walk in and left a copy in each one he could)
