Soooooo, I’ve been off the web and I’m suddenly seeing all this AI taking over AO3 happening.
Bots harassing people and another AI taking fics for databases— like why???????? It’s fanfiction, it’s mostly ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Hyper-fixation ramblings, and pure emotion for something the writer loves. Why in the world would anyone do this? Why are people taking the long and hard work, blood sweat and tears, literal history from 13 year olds or older or younger???? Any age actually???? Why? Why are people being so scummy that real life scum wouldn’t want to grow in their general vicinity?
Like, what’s the goal? Just to steal? Steal the Declaration of Independence at this rate, heck take the Mona Lisa— oh wait, Chat Gbt didn’t give you the right information and now your in police custody. Shame, you’ll need Ocean’s 8 and 11 to pull you out. No wait, you’ll need Audrey Hepburn to steal a million dollars for bail.
Ya know, I remember a time where art theft and book plagiarism was an actual crime that took effort to pull off. The mapping, planning, the get away car, the fights, and the sneaking people had to do was a big ass job. Now it’s a, guess who’s stealing Jenny’s fanfiction this week! Featuring Musklords and The Mother Board as themselves! Now staring the Dulingo Bird, Your Mom! And AO3, all being played by Markiplier! Directed by Hayao Miyazaki— coming out on YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!
Idk what to do, but I’m getting sad and a bit pissed off.
Edit: Aaaaand I just realized that I spelled Chat GPT as GBT. Whatever, that site doesn’t deserve my respect, it’s called GBT now. Garbage Bin Tech.
Edit: Know that this is not a death treat. I understand that this post calls people that use AI as Criminals. In truth, that is harsh and untrue. The creators of those tools, aka, the CEOs and whoever are involved with the brains of those ideas are the real culprits. Those who buy in and use AI are varied with their goals. Some do use AI to scam and be scummy. But others are just kids who are trying to get by in school. Or, people want to use it for fun. I understand why people use it, I just don’t agree with it.
My parents look at AI like it’s a new technology— similar to the internet. They don’t use it, but they say it won’t be going anywhere and that we have to accept it. Truthfully and respectfully, not true: AI can’t do anything we already do. It’s not being used to help the public. It should be used to help people with disabilities so they can speak and whatnot— NOT STEAL ACTORS VOICES AND USE THEM IN MOVIES AND ADS THEY DIDN’T ENDORSE. It’s taken critical thinking away, killing the planet faster, and scamming hundreds if not thousands, and using other people’s hard work to make CEOs richer. This is a Teen Dystopia Novel, change my mind.
Instead of ignoring the problem and making AI solve it, why not go at the roots and pull them out like the ancients of old? There are many problems, but AI is only a bandaid the size of a pea that is slowly rotting with the gash in our skin. It won’t make the pain go away, and it definitely won’t get better.
If your a tutor, help kids with their homework. If your a teacher, say students get a better grade if they don’t use AI. And if your a parent, help your kid.
AI should get a big ass water mark with every generation, and get fined for not doing so. Like, a big ass fine.

Still An AI Hate Blog LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
So of course I reblogged that Anti AI post this week and my streaming platform of choice is now INUNDATED with commercials about a new AI.. For lawyers to use. To give lawyers back their weekends. Have y'all seen this shit? The government and legal system isn't enough of a mess. Instead of a human being you are paying to review your case, here's an AI that'll review and surely not twist or misinterpret the data in any way. Honestly I'm so fueled with rage I can't even remember the bitch's name right now but when I do I will call her out. I jumped online to see if I could find the answer and now I'm faced with the fact that there like a dozen of the fucking things.
There's no country that starts with a K in Africa.
I HATE IT HERE
UPDATE: Saw the commercial again!
"Who's going to pull an all nighter?"
"Review a ton of evidence!?" <- This is the job? HELLO?
Legal AI CECILIA, brought to you by Disco.

the decline of human creativity in the form of the uprise in AI generated writing is baffling to me. In my opinion, writing is one of the easiest art forms. You just have to learn a couple of very basic things (that are mostly taught in school, i.e; sentence structure and grammar amongst other things like comprehension and reading) and then expand upon that already-foundational knowledge. You can look up words for free— there’s resources upon resources for those who may not be able to afford books, whether physical or non physical. AI has never made art more accessible, it has only ever made production of art (whether it be sonically, visual, written—) cheap and nasty, and it’s taken away the most important thing about art (arguably)— the self expression and the humanity of art. Ai will never replace real artists, musicians, writers because the main point of music and drawing and poetry is to evoke human emotion. How is a robot meant to simulate that? It can’t. Robots don’t experience human emotions. They experience nothing. They’re only destroying our planet— the average 100-word chat-gpt response consumes 519 millilitres of water— that’s 2.1625 United States customary cups. Which, no, on the scale of one person, doesn’t seem like a lot. But according to OpenAI's chief operating officer , chatgpt has 400 million weekly users and plans on hitting 1 billion users by the end of this year (2025). If everyone of those 400 million people received a 100 word response from chat gpt, that would mean 800 MILLION (if not more) cups of water have gone to waste to cool down the delicate circulatory system that powers these ai machines. With the current climate crisis? That’s only going to impact our already fragile and heating-up earth.
but no one wants to talk about those stats. But it is the reality of the situation— A 1 MW data centre can and most likely uses up to 25.5 MILLION litres of water for annual cooling maintenance. Google alone with its data centre used over 21 BILLION litres of fresh water in 2022. God only knows how that number has likely risen. There are projections of predictions saying that 6.6 BILLION cubic meters could be being used up by AI centres by 2027.
not only is AI making you stupid, but it’s killing you and your planet. Be AI conscious and avoid it as much as humanly possible.

Quick reminder to everyone that hates AI as much as I do and posts content on here to disable third party sharing on Tumblr! Your comments, reblogs, content and anything else you do can be used to train AI models if you don’t disable this feature.
To disable it go to settings -> visibility -> disable third party sharing
Hope this is helpful yippee

I want to piggyback on the above with a few things, because I keep seeing people saying "AI is a fad like NFTs/crypto and will crash like they did".
Unfortunately once you put out into the world something stupid with the potential to swindle people out of their money, it will take a very very very long time for it to die. Like Beanie Babies are still around, as is collecting and paying good money for them. The money is never going to be what the speculation was at the height of the fad, but it's still not nothing. They're collectibles with limited demand.
Secondly, unlike NTFs and crypto in general that were more like solutions looking for a problem (for NFTs it was how to make money without any tangible goods or services, and for crypto it's how to cut off banks from money exchange by creating yet another currency that banks also partake in), AI is a solution to an existing "problem": namely "how do we get more product to sell quicker and without increasing employee expenses".
Technically you can say NFTs are a solution for how to sell video and digital art installations. Kinda. Sorta. Also on the grand scale of all human problems that need to be solved rn, that's an itty bitty problem that can also be solved through other, more concrete methods. Crypto on the other hand has turned out to be just another currency that solves nothing with the existing monetary systems, since the existing monetary systems themselves were not the problem. Nor was the existence of banks as institutions as such. And banks quickly got involved in investing in crypto because there's money in them hills.
Generative AI on the other hand, was a solution to the age old corporate problem of having to share profits with goddamn pleb employees who do all the work! Yuck! (sarcasm). To the corporations the problem was they want the product, they want to sell the product - They don't want to pay people to do the work. Because paying wages and materials means less profit. And they wanted more product quicker! And Gen AI does exactly that. That's why it's not like crypto or NFTs. It's actually exactly the kind of solution companies were looking for, because they were never interested in quality (much less employee welfare), only profit.
We should really not go along with the corporate lingo on these shifts to automation and AI. Always remember this: They don't want to pay people to do the work.
Companies aren't replacing cashiers with self-scan machines for the customer's convenience. They don't want to pay people to do the work.
Companies aren't using AI to produce a better product. The product produced by AI is notably inferior - they just don't want to pay people to do the work.
Corporate America is not hurting for money. It's not that they can't afford employees -- profits are soaring! They just don't want to pay people to do the work.

I don't give a fuck how nice of a person you appear to be, if you use AI in any ANY of your creative work you immediately are a really shitty person. Creative spaces have zero room for AI. If you use it in your writing, you're not a real writer. If you use it in your art, you aren't a real artist. I'm going to give you the most hateful block if I come across you using it, because I cannot trust anyone who uses AI to not steal the art and writing I worked so hard to make. You're thieves. You're disrespectful. You're gluttonous. You're boring. You're cheap. You don't deserve to see what I make, and you don't deserve a place in fandom spaces because you don't understand what fandom means.

why ai art is bad: it is recycled art from real artists online. it takes multiple pieces of art, photos and other info online created by real people who put time and effort into their work which is what gives it value. ai is not genuine artificial intelligence and therefore cannot come up with anything on its own, only mash up preexisting media. even if it could create something original it takes away all creative value.
why people are posting ai art on tumblr: teehee notes :3
