do you remember that show, the one that was praised for its narrative and tight knit story, the one that was said to have one of, if not the best, portrayal of: mental health/illness, classism, women, character development, characters in general and show not tell? that one??

well it killed its 3 suicidal characters, sidelined the women in favor of a "bigger story" that forgot its central theme of classism

BY KILLING THE OPPRESSED IN THE CLOTHES OF THE PEOPLE THAT OPPRESSED THEM.

It brought together a lesbian couple in a cell in a prison one of the lesbians was tortured in and depicted it as her kneeling infront of the rich woman because the show loves its show not tell. It brought in new characters and killed them off, they had no overarching purpose in the story.

While I'm here talking about Laura, it's a real pet peeve of mine when writers (comics, fics or otherwise) try to draw physical parallels between Logan and Laura, when there's plenty more interesting ways to do it.

Laura looks like her mother! Her mother that she loved but was horifically abusive to her but still loved her and read Pinocchio to her but still made her kill and then was ultimately killed by Laura. I don't even think it's something anyone can get away with handwaving bc pretty much every single artist draws Laura just like Sarah Kinney, except shorter obvs.

And that's something Laura just has to live with, especially as she grows older and maybe her hair is halfway up and she half-glances past a mirror and does a double-take because - that's her mother looking back at her.

Saytrs and more reasons why Grover is an outcast

Why do we only see Grover hanging out with Percy after he gets Percy to camp? None of the other saytrs hang out with the kids they escorted (that we know of).

Is it because they all becames searchers and left to find Pan?

(Logicaly some of them have to have stayed behind if more saytrs are being born because Grover says no searcher has ever come back alive)

Was it because Percy was a big three kid? Because Grover hung out with Percy even before he was claimed.

Did I miss something in a book?

Imagine Saytrs telling Grover that he shouldn't get attached to a demigod who will definity die young or abadon him for fame and glory and Grover refusing because that's his best friend.

Grover who we see is an outsider in so many ways to the saytrs (just as Percy is an outcast even amongst demigods) decides fuck it, maybe the demigod will leave but at least he cared engough that it will hurt if he does unlike the rest of you.

Also we never hear about a saytr going on a quest, is this just a Grover thing? Because I imagine that after Grover gets back to camp, having survived the underworld two things will happen, one he is now even more of an outcast to the other saytrs because he went on a quest and that's not how Saytr's work and two the demigods stop seeing Grover as a Saytr and start seeing Grover as one of them because he's been on a quest, he's completed prophicies, he's fought monsters, Grover delivered all of the Greek big three kids to camp alive (he got Thalia there alive she just didn't stay that way once they got to camp) if the saytrs won't have him then the demigods will welcome him with open arms.

No this has nothing to do with my desperate and most likely impossible headcannon that Grover is the demigod son of Pan because we never hear about his parents (that I remember), Pan named Grover his heir and even before that Grover's powers were strong for a saytr, What Are You Talking About?
