2023: Hug a Giant Day!! (July 21st)

these very old ocs i have not thought about at all deserve some love methinks

backstory under the cut:

Around eight years of age, a little boy named Orson is cursed. His family had crossed a very powerful wizard's apprentice. The wizard himself curses their only son to become an incredible burden. The curse is as follows: every time Orson feels his life is threatened, he grows a certain ranged amount depending on how terrible the situation, and is unable to shrink at all or find a reversal/cure. Of course, this is threatening to an eight-year-old child. As soon as his family cannot house the not-so-little boy anymore, he is cast away from his village. His curse will eventually lead him to become bigger than anything ever known to exist on Earth --- he may even become the end of the world.

Orson is scared of this future, and he tries to live a calm life in the woods: away from the village he grew up with.

After three (kind of) peaceful years of Orson's woodland life, he is knocked out with sleeping darts (nearly hundreds of them, mind you, as he is around 150 feet tall at this time from living around predators for years) and dragged by a large force of armored men to a laboratory.

He suddenly finds himself awake and locked up completely, face to face (or rather, eye to face) with the head scientist who had brought him here: Dr. Seimell.

Orson refuses to speak, as he is afraid the volume of his voice would hurt someone. Of course, Dr. Seimell doesn't like that. She hooks him up to an emotion and thought-calibrating device to communicate with the overgrown eleven-year-old.

As years go by and Dr. Seimell studies the curse he was cast under, she finds a way to nullify his growth, and to keep life relatively normal for Orson.

The two grow closer together, and form an almost familial bond as Mother and Son.

Ok thanks to the 6Teen! RC9GN crew by @lsd-ink, I'm now thinking of funny/cute headcannons (Mostly about Punk Bots, Randy, and some of the other characters) SO IM DRAGGING YOU ALL WITH ME ON THIS ONE.

Starting off with my favs.

To pay off for their jail time, The Punks decided to work at the McMall (Cuz McFist owns 80% of the places), but somehow, Spike is not too keen on working so he decided to take a part-time job as a mechanic in a local station. Luckily it's not a product of McFist.

While Spike works at a mechanic, Thorn works as a bookstore worker and Skewer works in a Claire's type of store! Despite their appearances, they're really decently well with their jobs!

Thanks to @destiny-in-the-universe I do hc that the Punks do go to Randy's school to finish education, and surprisingly, they're really good at a few subjects! Most definitely, they're really skilled at creative writing, shop class, and gym!

Like always, Spike is envious when he first meet Randy. Seeing him have this normal life, with a loving parent, normal home, and everything. Though, Spike can't bully Randy because it doesn't make him feel better. They eventually bond over music, get to know after awkward moments, then eventually, the two got closer like brothers!

Spike got his attack dog moments not only to Randy but to Thorn and Skewer as well. He's been their provider ever since they escaped, and he doesn't want ANYONE to hurt them.

Doesn't matter if you're a girl, guy, nonbinary or anything - Spike will judge you when you're dating Randy or his brothers. He wanted someone who's good for them, and if they ever break a brother's heart, the wolf will bite.

While working at Claire's, Skewer gets asked by a little girl on why he's dressed like that. To humor her, he told the girl that he's the guard of the store, protecting anyone who tries to ruin the princesses' jewels and presents. His looks is a warning sign to anyone who tries to steal them. Astonished, she assumed he's a knight, along with Thorn and Spike, and she gave him the loyal knight ceremony where she tapped a toy wand over his shoulders and deemed him, "Sir Skewer!"

That encounter made Skewer happy in the inside, and if anyone makes of that, they'll know why his name is Skewer.

Thorn, meanwhile, loves working at the bookstore because he loves reading. He entertains the audience by reenacting the scenes, especially in manga books, and got the store a very good attention gain!

He does wonder about Japan and is always ecstatic whenever Mrs. Cunningham includes them on holiday trips to Japan.

Usually, when Randy's group comes together, Spike comes to visit with the other Punks on their breaks, and they have a good time hanging out!

Spike calls Heidi wrong names just to annoy her like how she annoyed Randy by calling him the wrong names.

Skewer and Howard have a chess battle, even though Howard thought it would be lame at first - The reason why he changed is because Skewer claimed Howard can't win.

Thorn have a little gossip fun with the girls, and sometimes would tease Randy over the girl he likes.

Now I heard Randy is the Ninja in this au, and if so, Spike would 100% know it's him. Why? Cuz he's his brother. The others will know eventually.

One thing to note is how Spike's face changed whenever he passes by a McFist product or even a poster of McFist.

NOW TIME FOR OTHER RC9GN CHARACTERS

Bucky, Steven, and Flute Girl all work at the music store. Bucky is very happy and friendly - Flute Girl is cynical and annoyed - Steven is [Trombone Music]

Bash is the local bully and thinks he has power over everyone because 1. His stepdad is the owner of everything, including the mall and 2. Cuz he's big and powerful. Some of the only people who aren't afraid are The Punks and Mrs. Cunningham.

Remember the Creepy Swamp Wizard, CatFish Booray? He has a food truck outside of the mall and it... Well you decide.

Mrs. Cunningham, in my book, is a lawyer that is often not present to the boys. She's been working hard to pay off for everything, but when she does have time, she wants to get to know each of her boys well and hang out with them.

When she needs alone time, Mrs. Cunningham usually either reads novels or practices fighting at the gym. It gets the stress from work out of her. People saw her as agile and skilled, which is how they saw Randy being talented at athletics.

Morgan is one of the popular girls and she is the queen of dancing. She leads dancing mobs at public places for the popularity.

McFist is occasionally seen at the Mall during grand openings or new product advertisements; however, one time he spotted Spike in the distance and he can't help but feel like the punk's familiar to him.

it’s probably been said already but rosquez howl’s moving castle

INSANE!!!!!!! vale's tiny earring vaguely androgynous wizard swag... old man marc... this got long?? under the cut

and see the thing is. i think this is a unique kind of torture for someone like marc. truly. like marc knows he's hot. marc enjoys people thinking he's hot. even in this universe, where he's sadly running the family shop so alex doesnt have to, i simply must believe he has six pack abs and is in fact invested in making people look at them. like he views his body as a machine, hes very active, he would NOT enjoy all of the new aches and pains and limitations that come with being magically EIGHTY. so after the witch of the wastes (uccio?? someone jealous and in love with vale LMAOO) brushes in to the hatshop that night and hates marc on sight/fundamentally alters his body, i think he IMMEDIATELY starts militantly looking for a solution.

the solution: the wizard valentino is this oft elusive but INCREDIBLY charismatic wizard known by whisper and rumor to a. be insanely powerful and b. eat the HEARTS out of his young suitors. and marc (CRAZY MAN.) goes oh well im not hot anymore so he wont do that to me. i will make him fix me! and then he invites himself into vale's home and refuses to leave! says i am your new HOUSEKEEPER. and you will help me break my curse thank you :)

BUT: instead of a mystical and powerful wizard, hes confronted with the HOT GUY that he met several weeks ago that he helped escape from the witch of the waste's GOONS. he was like. walking home. and vale (in his big poofy shirt) whisks him into a scheme... looks at marc all bright eyed mischief... and marc hasnt had any enrichment in his enclosure in so long and just feels LIT UP from the inside, falls into step with vale immediately, matching him as they go. feels ALIVE for the first time since alex took his apprenticeship in another town... so he helps vale escape, flirts with him a LOT and laughs even more. smitten. but crucially and unfortunately, he also has NO idea who vale is throughout this. so later when he walks in the door and finds out that the guy he has a major crush on is also THE WIZARD VALENTINO. who also has a small FLEET of HIGHLY SKEPTICAL teen boy apprentices that marc is now kind of in charge of coparenting and like. convincing to clean their rooms, its a bit of an insane time to be marc.

so some WILD but highly amusing control freak behavior from marc ensues.. lots of little frictions as he arrives... pushback from the kids, vale acting cold and dismissive, a brand new body that doesnt do what he wants it to do... but after a while, marc MAKES space for himself. forcibly improves their lives. settles in to a FAMILY and CRUCIALLY starts emotionally fulfilling the little feral animal inside him that yearns to throw himself off of motorcycles at high speeds. get this many adrenaline seeking freaks that know MAGIC in one place and they are inventing new types of danger Know This. marc is with vale and the kids doing insane shit. and for the first time since he took over his family's shop, he is allowing himself to do what he LOVES. find his purpose. enjoy a community. relieve some of the crushing weight of familial responsibility. its literally the best hes ever felt. and he is. SO in love. so so in love.

BUT im gonna pull something from the novel here: marc is also an incredibly powerful sorcerer. has been forever. he just has NO IDEA. like i see marc literally his entire life using magic in little ways to influence all of the crazy thrill seeking stuff that he's done, but entirely unintentionally. but vale fucking knows. could see it the second they met. in FACT. marc has already broken his curse (marc doesnt know that). but he likes sticking around vale. so he's unconsciously keeping himself old so he can avoid leaving. truly, like when he isnt thinking about his body and hes normal and happy he looks like his actual age. marc with silver hair just laughing with vale and the boys... smile lines staying there but wrinkles fading more and more as time passes... he doesnt want to go back to his old life!!! back to being unremarkable in the hatshop like he knows he should!!! and everytime he remembers he looks decades older... but vale doesnt want to lose him either. so he doesnt tell him. but he also vant make a move with it hanging over them like that... so they live in a fraught equilibrium of pining that is also lowkey a marriage LMAO. like you are coparenting. jesus.

EYE THINK. that the breaking point here is alex returning at some point. talking with marc. and marc is. SO happy to see alex. smiling as hard as he can. but also he looks older than he's looked since he first arrived. all of that responsibility and guilt rushing back for abandoning his life at the hatshop. and it TEARS into vale like omg i am keeping him here selfishly away from his brother.... so he sends him away, "breaks" his curse. and marc thinks hes being DUMPED. and thats how the divorce happens....

𝑆𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒, 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑡 2

Warnings: Mentions of panic attack, shitty family life, mentions of Sirius' Survivor'a guilt, horny teens being horny, perhaps my shitty writing

Part1

These past 2 months after making an escape plan with Regulus and going with it, had been hectic, emotional and probably a little bit problematic.

As soon as the morning came after your heartfelt night with your boyfriend, you both went to the Owlery to send your letter to your parents, asking for help. All the while, Regulus never stopped holding your hand and kissed you whenever he wanted.

Which meant all the time.

Your cheeks, your forehead, your hand, your knuckles, your lips...

Mostly your cheeks and lips, so much that those kisses soon turned into a make-out session which resulted with messy hairs, plump and red lips, wrinkled shirts and flustered two youngsters.

Then came the letter and a Howler from your parents, which sent Regulus into a heart attack since he thought your parents were angry at him and you, mostly him, for bringing you into this mess and didn’t want to take in a stray... He already convinced himself that your parents wouldn’t help him, would throw him insults which, in his opinion, he deserved for making you the target of his family. You often reassured him, scolded him for not thinking so lowly of himself when he did nothing wrong and threatening to kiss every corner on his body until he saw himself just a tiny bit like you did.

To which he would always answer with a it wouldn’t be such a bad punishment love, cheekily with a coy smile which also earned himself a slap on his chest and an adorable, flustered sight of your face as you tried to hide it from him to save yourself from further teasing.

But all his worries couldn’t be further from the truth, when you opened the Howler and your mother’s angry voice was heard. I knew it was a good idea to be alone when we opened it...

“That little bitch is being an arse to my dear boy?! HOW DARE SHE?! FIRST SIRIUS AND NOW REGULUS?! MY DEAR SON?! NOW, THAT’S UNACCEPTABLE! AND I FEEL SHAMED FOR YOU TO ASK BRINGING REGULUS HOME, SWEET GIRL! Regulus will always have a home here, so, please gather his things and come here in the holiday! I already prepared our guest room and your dad is excitedly waiting for Regulus to come so that they could talk about- what was that love? Eh, whatever... LOVE YOU MY SWEET GIRL AND SON! TAKE CARE, AND DON’T WORRY!”

Now, Regulus always knew that your parents and you were more of that chaotic yet funny side. Your relationship with them was so loving, though you got irritated whenever they asked about him first, you wouldn’t trade them for anything. Out of all the pureblood families, you and Weasleys could be the only ones who didn’t care about such things and was actually approachable.

But unlike them, your family was still held at the highest respect since you were all the direct descendanta of Merlin and had immaculate power over the Wizarding World.

Before he met you, he thought of them and your family to be “blood traitors”. Courtesy of his family, especially his mother who held an obvious disgust to the Weasleys but even then, as the cruel woman she was, Regulus always saw her with somehow a sad and longing frown while looking down at what he assumed was a picture in her room.

Ever since he was a little kid, a literal toddler, Regulus was always able to sneak in and out of places a normal kid couldn’t and often watched either the sky or his brother. He wouldn’t dare sneak in his mother’s room only to be caught and punished later, so he often stayed away from that room with her and his dad’s name on it.

The only reason he witnessed his mother’s vulnerable sight was because she left it slightly open and small whimpers were heard as little him peeked at her.

But even then, Regulus couldn’t help but look at the Howler and then at your proud stance as you were standing up with your arms crossed in front of your chest, nodding your head at what your mum said with a wide grin, amazed yet also a tad bit scared.

“Love, are you not supposed to be... Scared? Disturbed?” he awkwardly asked while holding up the Howler towards you as confusion overtook your face, pout forming on your lips before a soft smile appeared and you sat down behind him with your arms across his chest, rubbing comforting circles as he relaxed back to your chest.

“Why would I? My family loves you, you love them, and I love both of you... This is all I could ask for!”

Love is stupid in the way it reduces your smartness, Regulus remembers his mother always mumble to herself when she was in a good mood and Regulus dared to question her about those feelings.

He was aware that she was repulsed by the idea, but young him wouldn’t know that it was because his mother never experienced love and therefore, as she was starved of it, she would always spit insults whenever that four lettered word would be heard from anyone as if it scorched her ears.

But as he now gazed at you rambling about the recent trend of music of the Muggles and the recent cafe you found which you two had to try out soon, he understood that this warm feeling in his chest was not something to be repulsed, nor was it something to fear or hate.

It was the beautiful feeling of being coddled, loved unconditionally and only ever being expected to be himself...

But he was still Regulus Black, and he could never erase that fact... And as any Blacks, he had a shit luck which showed its ugliness in the most absurt times.

Such as now, when everything was going nice and steady between you two before he "ruined" everything.

“Regulus, you're bleeding!” You exclaimed in distress as you tried to get him away from the broken shards while his leg and feet were bleeding from stepping on them. The boy who was just trying to pick all of them one by one while crying his heart out, choking on his sobs, was now just looking idly at the sight of you tugging him away to sit him on a chair away from the pieces of the mug and plate, with no emotion except silently crying.

This was definetly not what you planned when you asked him if he could bring the pastries for a movie night. Maybe some making out and some other activities, as many of your peers did in the heat of the moment, and lay together in your shared bed in the little cottage you two had with the money saved.

You weren't expecting to find him with his hands covered in his blood with absolutely no emotion being shown in his usually expressive eyes after he started dating you except the heavy flow of tears...

You were more than worried as unvisible thorns grew in your heart and stung you hard with each beg of forgiveness and sob that left hım, as you could only stand there without being able to help him.

How can you help him escape from his own mind that tortured hım?

“I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..!” He continued to mumble as his hands held onto the arm of the chair thightly, knuckles turning white in fear and because of how he was gripping it thightly, he lowered his head in shame as the flashes of his mother and how... she punished him for ruining everything came to his mind.

He always messed up in some way, huh?

“Didn’t mean to, i-it just slipped! Please, don’t be mad..!” he let out a shuddering breath as his heart rate picked up and suddenly, breathing was harder then usual. His body felt unusually hot as he sweated buckets but at the same time, he was having the chills as if he was in the North Pole which resulted in a bodily shock that made him tremble slightly and now, he couldn’t feel his own hands by how much it started to tingle.

He knew these signs, of course this wasn’t the first time he had an attack, the feeling of as if he ran a marathon and now was desperately trying to suck air into his lungs.

But this was the first time he had one right in front of you, his girlfriend he tried to shield from pretty much anything moderately dangerous that had something to do with him.

Including himself.

And by that simple reaction, as you were picking everything up so that he wouldn’t hurt himself more, you realized how his life back with his parents hurted him deeply... And how it would be a long adventure for him to heal from those scars as they were still persistent to remain.

They were not like these pieces so that you can just take them away from him and throw away.

Your heart broke for your boyfriend, eyes turning glassy as you stood up and without a care around you and the mess, hugged him thightly to yourself. He clinged onto you like a baby as soon as he realized that you were there and not his mother, as soon as he smelled your natural scent, that he was far away from them and she couldn’t hurt him anymore. That he was safe and in the loving embrace of his lover...

That he was out of that shithole of a home.

“Please, don’t leave me...” he begged silently to the crook of your neck as he buried his nose in your neck, laying butterfly kisses along the column of your neck as you hummed to him. With each vibration of your chest, each kiss you laid on his soft and milky skin...

He felt the numbing pain in his chest heal a bit more.

“I’m not going anywhere. You will not get rid of me easily, Reg...”

Regulus could only thighten his shaky arms around your middle as you stood tall in front of him, his face buried on your chest as his breaths slowly evened out and only little huffs left his lips.

He always was aware of your warmth being comforting, the weight of your whole body or even your arms around his neck and rubbing circles on his nape was grounding and comforting enough. But before meeting you, the only comfort he would ever have was his pillow that witnessed his many meltdowns, which wasn’t much of a comfort at that time but the best one he could have.

Of course, a person never knows what they are missing until they have that same thing so, he never knew he needed someone alive, breathing with him. Someone whose warm embrace would desolve the nasty ice rooted deep in his heart after years of abuse.

Someone he could never afford loosing ever again.

Someone to be with him for as long as the remaining time of his life allowed.

Regulus had always known that he wanted to get married and have children with the person he loved, contrary to what people thought at first glance and unlike what his family had been doing for years. His brother would often tease him for being such an hopeless romantic, but he viewed the marriage as an eternal promise of being devoted to each other...

And he loved that idea, the idea of sharing his life, his days, his problems, his dreams with a special someone...

He always dreamt of how it would be like, and even wrote some ideas down. How he would propose, or how the ring would be like... It wasn’t like money was an issue. Before he ran away, he took a huge amount of money from them as a final blow as an...insurance.

If they destroyed him with the family name and their power, he might as well use it against them, right?

But looking at you under the dim light of the kitchen as you fixed everything and prepared his favourite drink to lift his mood, he realized that he could no longer wait for the day to come.

He realized that he wanted to be your husband, and you his wife.

Probably as soon as possible.

You two already lived together, in some sense, and he knew that even if it was early... That you two were still young, he knew that you two belongt to each other, that he found his soulmate, someone that would understand him, someone that was only for him. He thought about the idea of you saying no in many occassions, because why wouldn’t you?

He was broken, hurt in every possible way, he was cold and ruthless at times and he could hurt you, not that he would ever want that but because of who his parents were and with whom they worked with. You could even live in solidarity, hiding from everyone and everything. You had dreams, dreams that he always supported you with...

And he didn’t want to be an obstacle in your way.

So yeah, why would you ever want him as your husband?

But unknown to him, there were many times that you imagined to wake up to Regulus’ face, calling him your husband and he calling you his wife. Many daydreams you had where you both would wear matching golden bands as you strolled in the streets or just cooked food for your little family together before being huddled together under a blanket in front of the fire place...

But... It was still too early to think about these things, right?

Sirius smiled through his tears as he sat down outside where only a handful students were out, hastily wiping his tears so that they didn't soak the paper and his reputation of being a bad-boy wasn't ruined.

Sirius was worried about his brother, just as any older brother would be, contrary to what others and even Regulus himself believed, when he first left his old home where he only associated with bad memories. He had plans to take Regulus with himself but the boy was justifyably scared of their mother and what she could do.

In the end, Sirius had to be quick because he knew he would not have another chance had he lost this one after his mother knew what he had been doing in the school.

And therefore, he made the biggest mistake of his life: Leaving Regulus alone.

He stupidly believed that his mother, now that she had a "good" heir after Sirius left the home, wouldn't do anything harsh to him. Regulus was her only shot at protecting the "honor of the House of Black" after all.

But Walburga Black was an angry woman, for her own sons did the one thing she never was able to do or dared to do even if she wanted it more than anything: Escape.

And as Sirius gazed at the sullen and dead eyes of his brother after a week of not seeing him, glaring at his across the Hall...

He knew what he had done couldn't be taken back.

"Is there another life? Shall I awake and find all this a dream? There must be, we cannot be created for this sort of suffering..."

Sirius though that there was nothing he could do to save Regulus from her clutches, to wipe those dark circles under his eyes and that vengeful frown that decorated the once smiling and happy face.

Besides, Regulus never allowed him to get closer to himself while he avoided even hearing his older brother's name...

Sirius Black, for the first time, felt helpless with his hands tied as dread filled him at the scene of him loosing Regulus slowly played before his eyes...

But then... Something changed.

Regulus, who had been feared by almost everyone in the school and known for his frown that could freeze anyone in horror and stare hard and powerful enough to wish for Avada Kedavra... Started smiling.

How did Sirius know? Well, James has been telling him that he too had the same eyes whenever he looked at Moony but that was another story.

If you were even %1 like them he could understand how you did this), and even fix their relationship, when you absolutely had no obligation to do so... But still did it for Regulus.

I know he doesn't act like it, but he thinks of the world of you, Sirius...

This was what you said before you dropped some letters adressed to him and only after you went up to Regulus happily and Sirius started to read them that he realized they were all from Regulus to him.

We open in the middle of the decision to execute Mash or not, and Dumbledore, Harry, and Draco having a stand off lmao

We learn that Whalberg/Dumbledore is a famous wizard because he fought with Innocent Zero in his youth.

Does this mean the shadowed Innocent Zero who was called father by Cell War is the equivalent of Grindelwald, and Evil Jesus(Cell War (or cell wall if you wanna be a pun) is Voldemort? (Also is it father or Father lololol)

We get a little speech from Wahlberg reminiscent of one of Dumbledore's speeches, but more importantly, WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF RAYNE ALSO BOWING???

I get that he is one of the Divine Visionaries, but is he more important than the others? He's still a student, wait, HOW DO STUDENTS HAVE THIS MUCH POWER IN THE GOVERNMENT?? Do you see Tom Riddle as a pretty boy or a handsome man?

Perhaps I'm missing some sort of modern slang as to what each means, but I'll reply literally. Anonymous (or others) feel free to correct/enlighten me if I stray off topic.

I don't see why he can't be both, especially considering that we get to experience young Tom as well as older Volmemort in the books.

He was a pretty, good looking boy when he was younger, and remained a handsome man for a while, until his magical experiment and the Horcrux making caught up with his appearance. I still HC that Bellatrix finds him more attractive in his gaunt, skeletal appearance than before, but that's probably just me.

In the fourth book, while he's still a semi-human creature, before the ritual that gives him back his body, Frank, the gardener of his family estate, demands he turns and "faces him like a man!"

"But I am not a man," Voldemort replies, "I am so much more than a man [but why not, I will face you]"

What Voldemort might have meant with that is up for debate. Perhaps all he means is that he is a man (as in biological male who identifies with the male gender), but he is also so powerful and, to use the expression Voldemort himself loved as a child, so SPECIAL, he's also in a class of human on his own.

Also, later on we find out that he has fathered a daughter, so apparently he does have normal urges that men have. He's not above lust, sex and even maybe being fond of another human (Bellatrix and Delphi).

In addition, when Dumbledore and Harry make it to the cave that Voldemort chose as the hiding place for the Locket Horcrux, we find out that Voldemort values magical power above all, and that HArry's magic, that of a young, average (maybe even a little beyond average), won't even register in his book compared to Dumbledore's. To me this seems to suggest that Voldemort is quite happy to be "old", "mature" and, to his eyes, "wise". And it's not hard to see why he thinks this. He used to be a little boy at the bottom of the social ladder. He might have been "pretty", something that, in older times, was associated with "good families" but he was still an orphan people just ignored or even pitied. Now he's surrounded mostly by younger witches and wizards, and he's their leader.

To sum up until now, I think Voldemort is happy to be a man of a certain age and standing, rather than a boy.

However, he wants to be more than that. He wants to be special, extraordinary. And not just with his deeds, but also with his appearance. He doesnt even want people to speak the name he chose for himself, a name that he likes and is proud of, as it sums up his grandiosity and goal in life (to flee death). Altering his appearance and making it bizarre and unique is also part of this need. By looking like a snake, he's finally special in every way: the way he acts, looks, talks, they're all unique to Lord Voldemort. He's not just a man, any man, he's The Dark Lord.

But I digress. The key for me is a (common, I think) headcanon, where Voldemort suffers from some flavour of body dysmorphia as a young boy. I'm not an expert on the condition, so by no means do I claim to know what I'm saying, just sharing how I feel about him. I think he DOESN'T LIKE BEING ATTRACTIVE, especially after he finds out he looks identical to his father. To some degree he finds his "pretty appearance" useful, since, sad truth be told, we're all inclined to treat a good looking person better and pay more attention to them, and in his early days of near starvation and abuse this was useful. But he hates it, deep down, as he hates everything about himself from those days.

Not only that, but he actually doesn't find himself attractive. He thinks he's too pale, his hair annoys him because it's too curly and needs some work in order to look presentable, his cheekbones are too high, he's too thin and boney, and the list goes on and on with things only he finds weird and unattractive. All part of his deep-seated self loathing that is in the root of all his actions, covered up with illusions f grandeur.

And so he sheds every bit of his old appearance that's possible to change, from his eye colour to the shape of his nose. In fact, now I think of it, in Goblet of Fire he says he'll be "Settling for his old body for a while", suggesting he's planning on further transformations in the future, when he has more time with Harry dead.

TLDR: to us, semi-biased readers, he's both. In his own eyes, he's neither.

Also this gave me an idea for a minific, so I may post a drabble at some point, inspired by this.

This has been ruminating in my brain and I have to get it off my chest: A Court of Mist and Fury is literally just some teenager's bad "Draco in Leather Pants / Ron the Death Eater" fanfiction.

[Under the readmore I reveal my true colors as a Harry Potter Millenial Child but trust me I have a point and know what I'm actually talking about here. There's analysis I promise. And I'm not going to spend a million years like, "And I think JKR is bad also!" because we've all been on the internet for this long and we know that she's a bad person. I do have an actual point to make about ACOMAF.]

For those who don't know Harry Potter (and didn't grow up rereading the whole series front to back every single time there was a book or movie releases like I did) - Ron is one of Harry Potter's friends. He's a wizard, from a wizard family, so there is some shit that he just doesn't know about the world, because he's always grown up around magic, and has been isolated from a lot of non-magic people. He also grew up in a poor, but ultimately loving family, and so while he has a lot of insecurity and competitiveness (due to being the youngest of six very accomplished brothers) he also has a lot of strengths - he's incredibly loyal to his friends, he's courageous and protects his family, he's not the smartest member of the group but he's resourceful and he sticks to his beliefs. Ultimately, he spends a lot of time acting pretty much like a dumbass, headstrong teenage boy (which he is) while evil wizards attack him and his friends.

Meanwhile, Draco spends the first few books being Harry's bully. He at first tries to befriend Harry because Harry is famous among wizards, but when Harry gets wind of how Draco treats people - like Ron, whose family is poor, and Hermione, whose parents aren't wizards - he turns it down. Draco spends the next several books parroting his parent's bigoted beliefs (for context, he's all of twelve when it's revealed that his family keeps an elf as a slave and he starts referring to Hermione with wizard slurs for non-magic people), trying to cheat at sports and beat them in exams, and generally being a whiny, annoying nuisance. This changes in Book 5, when Evil Wizard in Chief returns from the dead and Draco's parents immediately cozy up to him. They're basically portrayed as spineless sycophants who lied about supporting Evil and are mainly interested in aligning themselves with whomever seems to be winning - but Draco is thrilled by the importance of his family and the chance to finally, seriously threaten Harry, Ron, and Hermione. He gains actual power over them at school and immediately abuses his privileges, and generally takes enormous joy from being a bigoted little slimeball because he thinks he's finally winning their schoolyard rivalry.

Somewhere between Book 5 and Book 6, Evil Wizard in Chief takes an unusual interest in sixteen year old Draco. Spends a lot of time personally training him, isolating him from his family and causing him to isolate himself from the gang of bullies and fellow rich kids that he calls friends. Draco ends up so isolated that the only person he can talk to is one of the ghosts haunting an abandoned bathroom near his dorm. In the end, it's revealed that Chief Evil Wizard was grooming Draco to assassinate Chief Good Wizard, a plan which only barely failed (or succeeded, depending on how you look at it) because someone else was there to take the fall when Draco couldn't bring himself to actually commit cold-blooded murder.

And it's interesting! We spend considerably less time with Draco as a whole - compared with Ron, who is Harry's constant companion at wizard school and who has maybe the most "normal" personality of the group - so the mystery and changes of his personality make for a compelling story. It makes the previously unsympathetic Draco into a more fleshed out character. He has people who worry about him - and its hard not to feel sad when you read about a guy who is THAT depressed and clearly been in pain. But Draco proves again and again to be unwilling to change his ways. He only really agrees to work against the Evil Wizards when it becomes inevitable that Harry Potter will fulfill his destiny.

Harry Potter is a simple story of good and evil. The good guys win, the bad guys lose. There's basically no doubt as to who the bad guys are at any time. That's the point - it's a children's story that grows into a young adult story, maturity of themes increasing alongside the protagonist but never pretending to be more complex than that. Ron starts off like a normal eleven year old, gets moody and insufferable when he's fifteen, and reacts fairly realistically to trauma and stress before maturing into a hero that everyone can root for. Draco starts off like a spoiled bully, refuses to face consequences for his actions, and quietly slips away into obscurity as an adult, never expressing true regret for his actions but no longer bothering anyone either.

Fanfiction of the series takes these dynamics and flips them: "What if Ron's character flaws drove him to Evil? What if Draco was secretly a good person with strong values who was a victim of circumstances?" This is helped along by the fact that the movies basically gutted Ron's entire character arc (because they had no faith in Hermione Granger's character arc despite her being one of the best parts of the books) while Draco is played by Tom Felton, who is a good looking, friendly, and likeable person in real life. Hence, the rise of the trope dichotomy: "Draco in Leather Pants / Ron the Death Eater." Where Draco is a hot and tortured bad boy with a heart of gold, and Ron is somehow evil.

Now I was young for a lot of this - the forums and fansites, LiveJournal, FF.net communities before the NSFW bans - so I never participated directly in a lot of HP fandom drama but I do remember seeing the debates - should Hermione end up with this boy or that boy? I stood in front of a group of people for a midnight screening of the 6th movie (in 2009!!) fully insisting with their whole chests that the Ron/Hermione romance was garbage and that Draco or Harry would have been a better choice for her.

Like, fine, I'll give a pass for Harry. But yeah, the guy who spends seven books referring to her with magic slurs is a better choice than the guy who was, at fourteen, too immature to ask her to a dance and gets jealous of her boyfriend. Sure.

[And to be transparent: There are some INSANELY good writers in the HP fandom who pull off these tropes with the most incredible finesse. I've read some superb Draco/Hermione fics. But for the purposes of this post I'm only talking about canon - what is physically on the pages of these books.]

The truth is that Draco was never a good person. When people questioned him and his values, he retaliated with spite. He never once regretted his cruelty or felt sorry for the people he inevitably harmed with his actions - he felt sorry that his life was difficult, and that he faced consequences for the evil he helped to cultivate and bring into being. It's easy to pity Draco - like all the other main characters, he's a child - but you're never meant to root for him.

Does this remind you of anyone? What if I told you that secretly, he was five hundred and thirty years old? What then??

A Court of Mist and Fury is just this trope dicotomy but worse because SJM is so fucking bad at actually writing consistent and believable characters. Like JKR at least keeps her characters consistent! Mist and Fury is just: Oh, it's revealed that Draco has been in love with Hermione since the very beginning and everything he's done - insulting her and her heritage and her beliefs, actively using magic on her to make her insecure about her appearance, driving her to tears multiple times, harming her friends and physically threatening her - was just to hide this fact and protect her. How noble! Draco being a bigot and a bully was just a cover for him being the REAL Hero of Prophecy the whole time! He's the only one who can beat the bad guys and save the world! Oh, and by the way, it turns out that Ron has been working for the Evil Wizards the whole time and all that other stuff he did - like standing up for Hermione against Draco's insults, and protecting his friends, and being willing to sacrifice himself for their sakes - was just a cover so we wouldn't suspect his true motives, which are don't worry about it! He's evil! He's been evil the whole time and you just didn't know!! Don't you feel stupid for having been tricked!? Just goes to show you!!

That's Court of Mist and Fury. That's all it is. It's cheap and stupid. It's trying to pretend that the series and the writing is more complex and deep and thoughtful than it actually is. And in doing so, it completely cheapens the ACTUAL purported messages of the books. Abuse is more complicated than Evil Wizards Did It. In SJM's work, we are presented with a story that ultimately has the heroine trade one toxic relationship for one which is still unbalanced and perhaps worse, but he has a bigger dick and a better aesthetic and more money, so she's happy now! He says the right words in the right order so he's totally a feminist and not an abuser, guys!! Everyone knows that the Good Guys can't do bad things, and if they do, its for a good reason, and everyone forgives and understands why they had to be Bad, and pities them for it. Its just so asinine. If you're going to label people as "Good" and "Evil" then don't tell me that your story is a complex and moving tale of empowerment and feminist fantasy. If you're going to write a fantasy than at least tell me how the world actually functions! ACOTAR's world is a vague blob of mountains and Velaris. At least JRK's magic system had fucking rules and make a basic amount of sense! At least her Magic Britain felt grounded in something solid!

If I wanted A Court of Mist and Fury I could just read Draco/Hermione fiction, and with a little sorting of the AO3 tags, I'd get a much more interesting experience.

Can I talk about the boat scene with Gale? I'm gunna talk about the boat scene with Gale and my boy, Alfonso "The Face-Breaker" Tombstone.

Cause here's the thing. Alfonso Tombstone isn't a religious person. It's not that he doesn't believe in the gods (in fact I dont think you can in this universe), but he disregards them mostly. Given his upbringing and his poor background, the gods are not a direct force to Al. They can be to other, more special people; people of influence and power and interest, but to little old Al, he's just another ant on the ground, living his life with as much of a thought about divinity as the divine probably have of him.

Given his status pre-tadpole, Alfonso fully knows that his life is more determined by the world and the people around him than any gods. And that's fine, that's preferable as divinity is not a replacement for the life that surrounds you, but it's also never going to get him into a tabernacle praying for a change in his circumstance because the gods don't care about lowly old him and, frankly, he doesn't need them to. If he wants a change, than either he will make that change, a person in his life will make that change, or some random chance will make that change.

And then he randomly gets scooped up by a mindflayer ship and everything goes topsy-turvy. He's miles from home. Surrounded by weirdos. Having an adventure.

Yet he still takes that core belief about deities with him. Its one of the things he and Gale bond over as the academic and divinely troubled wizard finds this uneducated athletic performer of an orc to hold surprisingly nuanced opinions about the very thing that vexes him. They debate about, argue, spend long hours into the evening discussing this chasm between their opinions on the role of the gods that do or do not affect their lives.

They never come to a consensus or an agreement, but it opens the door for their budding romance. The divine stops being argued. Conversations move on, relationships deepen, time passes. Shockingly, Alfonso still believes the gods have little interest in him even as he's suplexing the avatar of one deep in the bowels of a mindflayer nest.

And he's in love. Al doesn't want to admit it, doesn't want to plan for a speculative future, doesn't want to give himself that hope because outside of this adventure, outside of the tieflings and the children calling him a hero, he's still the same old Al. No amount of praise or good deeds done in the world could make him believe that if they survive all this and if life goes back to normal, that Gale won't finally see how goddamn uninteresting Alfonso is and immediately forget about him in favor of anyone more worth his time.

But maybe he does start to think about life after. Maybe he does daydream about simple times and simple days. No mindflayers or tadpoles or cults or dead gods or living gods and maybe Gale is there when Al is at his weakest of daydreams that they could have something in the after this. Maybe a home life or another adventure, but something together where Al can and does measure up to all the things in Gale's life that came before him.

And now Alfonso is sitting in a boat among the stars being asked by this person he finally started admitting he loves if they can ascend to the very thing that will make them leave Al behind. Because Alfonso wouldn't ascend with Gale; that's never going to be something he, the most salt of the earth kind of person to ever exist, would want. He isn't divine material, isn't capable of wrapping his head around the minutiae of that, is interested in that at all. If Gale ascends, he would be doing it alone and who would Al be to him but an ant staring at the sky, grieving the person he loved.

I like to think in that whole conversation, Al told Gale all that. That was his rebuttal to the 'tell me you want what i want' line, along with the whole 'I love you for who you are and not the god you'd pretend to be'. Which leads to the rest of the boat scene and I've got too many FEELINGS ABOUT IT.

So instead of doing my homeworks, I was thinking about a Super 4 AU were they were all in Hogwarts.

Alexandre :

Alexandre and his sister Léonore live in France whith their dad, and both of them are half-blood. But between the two, it's only Alex who had magic.

Their mother came from England and she had studied at Hogwarts. She came from a long pure-blood lineage. She left her family who call her a blood-traitor for having a muggle boyfriend, since then, they have been no contact. She never tell them that she had gotten married nor that she had children. They also didn't know that she has past away.

Kendric had, over the years, made friends with wizards who is :

Gareth, a half-blood wizard who had just finish his last year at Beauxbâtons. He is also the official baby-sitter of Alex, who he had to watch if he want the boy to stay out of trouble (and trouble he get to much)

Ulf, a wizard who retired. He was a former teacher at BeauxBâtons (he also was a former teacher of Gareth). He use to teach Muggle Studies. He had a big interest in muggles and became very good friend with Kendric whom had a big interest in wizards.

Archibald is a squib. He live in the muggle-world and with the help of Kendric, is getting use of the muggle life.

They make Alex learnt some easy magical spell and with Léonore they spent time playing with her and use their magic to change the colour of her dress or making flowers appear in her hair.

Léonore love her brother, but she is a little jealous of him : he can do magic while she can't

Alex had to normally go to Beauxbâtons, but seeing that he also have the authorization to go to Hogwarts, which is known as the best witchcraft school in the entitre world (and the school his mom had studied to) he decided to go there instead

He is a Gryffindor (no surprise there)

He hate his Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Fourchesac

He is Captain of Gryffindor Quidditch team, his position is being a beater

At some point when she was younger, she accidentaly transform the head matron into a frog. Girls at the orphanage now tend to avoid her, being scare of the girl who had cast a spell so powerful that not even the adults were able to perfectly defuse it. It make Twinkle feeling lonely at times.

Since them, that woman despise Twinkle. She tell future parents who come to the orphanage to not adopt her or they will serve the same fate as her.

After that, she got herself being bullied by some girls in the orphanage. They made fun of the fact that she will never get herself adopted. The bullying stop when the girls (Lorella, Rosalba and Donella) got themselves adopted by their respective family.

Even thought her big bullies had gone, girls at the orphanage still mistreat her (but not as much) by : talking behind her back or making fun of her

Fortunately, some caregivers who work there are nice to her and treat her well

She meets Ruby, Alex and Gene on the train to Hogwarts and soon begin to be their friends

She learnt Alex and Ruby are both in their second years, while Gene is in third year

When she enter Hogwarts, the Hat put her into Hufflepuff (again no surprise there)

She was horrify to discovered that her big bullies are in Hogwarts too (Lorella is in Gryffondor, Rosalba in Slytherin and Donella in Ravenclaw). Thankfully her friends promise to keep a eye on them, to protect her and to fight them if must.

Gene :

(I actually didn't have many backstory idea for him)

He lives with his uncle Dr X in the city

His uncle is an inventor and a man of science, he got numerous degrees and he teach students at university.

Gene also love science and want to be an inventor like his uncle when he will be an adult

He use to go to a private primary school and the uniform he use to wear was very refined

I like the idea of Gene being muggleborn

Like, our boy who doesn't believe in magic suddenly have magical power

I'm sure when he did accidental magic as a child he retorts this with a logical solution such as :

"My book suddenly come to me ! It couldn't possibly be me, it was probably due to a gust of wind."

He doesn't believe in it, he think that there a rational explanation to it but he hadn't know what it is yet (and that make him angry)

He go to Hogwarts not because he got the letter but he want to have a logical explanation to ALL OF IT (he hadn't found it yet)

He got sort into Ravenclaw (again NO SURPRISE)

He hadn't got any friends during his first year stay at Hogwarts, it wasn't until the next year when Alex and Ruby arrived that he got himself friends (Twinkle later joined their group)

He was desappointed to learnt that his owl robot Lenny doesn't work at the school, he soon learnt that most muggle electronics doesn't work at Hogwarts. So instead he take his toy car with him at Hogwarts (he is very protective of it).

He has undiagnosed Asperger syndrom (my headcanon of Gene to be honest)

Ruby :

One day, while walking by the sea, Rubens had found a basket on the water, upon inspection he found a baby in it. He adopt her and name her Ruby.

Ruby always thought she is muggleborn but actually she is half-blood but she doesn't know that. She was never interest of who must be her biological parents

At Hogwarts, the Hat sent her to Slytherin (who is SURPRISE ? Again not me)

She befriend some boys in her house, they get along well and they give each other nicknames.

After only a few weeks at her being at Hogwarts, she befriend Alex and they soon become friends.

One time, Ruby was talking to Alex about her friends, the boys in her house and the nicknames they gave each other. Alex immediately make her learnt that the nickname they gave her, which is "mudblood" is actually a insult. Ruby is mad and she confront them, but above all the boy who she thought was her friend, the one that call her "mudblood" the most, the one she nickname Sharkbear. He laugh at her saying that it had take times for her to realise that and inform her that she is stupid.

Fight insued.

A few weeks later, Alex present her to Gene, who she became slowly friends to. Mostly because of what previously happen and the now little trust issues she had with friendship and because of Gene stoic and cold attitute.

The next year, while being on the train, they meet Twinkle and soon they became friend with her.

Ruby want to entered the Slytherin quidditch team but Sharkbear, who is the captain and the other boys refused to let her in, simply because she is a girl mudblood.

Fight insued.

Alien :

Idk, we can say his species, the mysterios are unique to the wizarding world ????? Like elves and goblins ???

Or they are a species that are use like service animals and known when someone blood sugar is low, or can calm someone for having a panic attack and that's why a mysterios are with them ?? Idk ??

Or they sort of guardians and protect Hogwarts and it's surroundings, they can be seen in the school, most of them at going to the kitchen were they eat the food giving by the elves

My MCD OC Nyx's canon backstory

He was a small baby deer in the twilight forest who was separated from his herd and parents. Starving, he went to eat and came upon a small cottage with a few berry bushes outside, so he decided to go eat.

Little did he know that Pavana, an enchantress,in that cottage, and he was exactly what she was looking for. Pavana, a woman with a love for peacocks, was trans and with no amulets or others to have a child with, and she desperately wanted one. So here comes an orphaned baby deer, and suddenly, SHE HAS A CHILD!

She took little Nyx in and using a few spells and careful use of some of her fae blood, a bit of ent sap, some lich dust, and a careful bit of minotaur tears SHE TURNED HIM HUMAN.... Sorta. Well, her grandfather's fae blood definitely gave him her family's pink eyes but everything else... not so much.

Whose to say toddlers are even human? So she raised him as her child, and Nyx was really happy! Sure, gaining sentience beyond what any of your species could ever comprehend was new, but that's just kind of how toddlers are. He got a new mom and Pavana got a little boy!

His mom then started teaching him all about magic, and with the magic coursing through his veins, it came naturally. He became an amazing sorcerer. Unfortunately, he didn't have his mothers trick for illusions, so he wasn't able to be an enchanter like her, but it still worked out. They even managed to find away to make the spell that turned him human non reversible unless concented so he was able to shift from deer to human with ease.

Unfortunately, one day while he was experimenting he got spooked by a skeleton mid transformation and got stuck as a deer centaur for a week and ripped all of his clothes. Pavana couldn't stop laughing and refused to help him turn back until he ran into a minoshroom who wouldn't stop hitting on him.

When he was 19, he used his magic to try and stop the spread of Liches and the reign of monsters in the Twilight Forest. He managed to keep them in check for years before what felt like an explosion of magical force ran through the world, caused by what could have only been someone ripping a dimension open. Then what he thought he had undercontrol suddenly became unmanageable, and Ur-Ghasts and Hydra and every other monster were popping up left and right. Liches, older and more powerful than what Nyx had ever dealt with came to life, bringing with them not the normal zombies but red husks of people. Shadow Knight corpses.

Worst of all, some of the Liches escaped the forest and Nyx knew that he had to follow. While magic is strong in the Twilight Forest, it is unstoppable against normal people. On the hunt of a Lich, he runs into a village brimming with magical folk, Phoenix Drop. Deciding to rest for a few days, he gets to a tavern where he gets caught turning bronze coins gold by one blue haired guard.

Small adage: When Nyx is 19 Pavana tells him to find his own wizard tower and goes "Finally! You are grown and I can live in peace!" Even though she chose to have him. They both know she is joking and he visits when he can and so does she. Pavana will never die.

Nyx does end up converting a massive magical redwood tree into his home. He hollows out the inside and uses the wood to create all of the furniture. He does make sure that the tree will continue living with the help of a few nymphs and dryads that use his house as shelter on the occasion.

These were really fun to come up with. Also, let’s say that for this AU, Hogwarts is located in Japan and there are inter-house quidditch teams. I imagine the GoM were all on the same quidditch teams years 1-4 (team Teiko; they were so gifted, they were allowed to play in their first years), but then in their 5th years, split up to join their own teams because they got bored of always dominating

I based their best subjects/magical skills off of their canon best school subjects (and what we know about their skills and characteristics from the series itself).

Normally in quidditch in the series, I think a character picks a position and sticks with it, but it made more sense to me that players should be able to be swapped around. They only play one position at a time, but have the choice to try out any position they’re qualified for, even allowed to swap positions during a single match.

Kuroko

House: Hufflepuff

Best Subject(s): Ancient Runes, Divination

Quidditch Position: Chaser, Beater, Seeker (can play multiple)

Bloodline: half-blood (from a long line of pure-blood wizards on mother’s side)

Patronus: stoat/pole-cat

Other: has a natural knack for vanishing spells and invisibility charms (so much so that he himself is hard to notice), struggles with more advanced types of magic but can Apparate; when his mother left her pure-blood family to be with a muggle, she was disowned and a cursed was placed upon any of her future children, for them to never be recognized by the great wizarding families, luckily this just manifested as Kuroko’s misdirection; also a natural Occulmens due to the curse (his mind can’t be read)

Kagami

House: Hufflepuff

Best Subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts

Quidditch Position: Chaser, Beater

Bloodline: half-blood (muggle father, witch mother[deceased])

Patronus: tiger

Other: went to an American wizarding school before transferring in his 5th year; met Aomine before being sorted, hated him, and wished really really hard not to be placed in the same house as him (which is why the hat ultimately placed him in Hufflepuff and not Gryffindor); natural knack for fire-based magic and flying + flying spells; his mother died when he was a baby, and his father raised him as a muggle so everything was new to him as his powers manifested, Himuro, from a wizarding family and magic himself, was a big help to him at this time; Alex, ex-professional Quidditch player and Flying Instructor at their American wizarding school was another big help

My Review of Cherry Magic

(short for: Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!)

Note from the reviewer: Hi everyone! Sorry it's been several months since I last posted a review. It has been a hard and stressful time for me. I've had to endure a surgery, two infections, my younger cat having a heart attack and dying, a family member have her cancer come back, and this one condition of mine where I had symptoms plague me for an entire month. As you can see, I had no interest in writing reviews. Now that a lot of this turbulence has passed, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. With all of that unpleasantness out of the way, let's get at it.

When looking at this title, your first thought is this is an Isekai, a BL, and has a run-time of 5 minutes per episode.

As it turns out, this is a work-place comedy and has a normal running time of 22+ minutes. But it’s still a BL. That’s good enough for me!

Kiyoshi Adachi is 30 years old and still a virgin. Apparently, Adachi has acquired some weird power upon turning 30. Whenever he touches someone, he can hear the thoughts in their head. Adachi actually finds this power lame and also annoying in cramped places like crowded trains. One morning at his job, he accidentally brushed up against the handsome and charismatic employee, Yuuichi Kurosawa. Turns out, Kurosawa has a crush on Adachi.

Despite having some perverted thoughts about Adachi, Kurosawa really doesn’t act upon them. Yes, he invites Adachi over and yes, it’s a little odd that he has an extra pair of pajamas that are his exact size. But at least Kurosawa doesn’t do things to his crush that would chase him away. As for Adachi, this must be a big shock. But is he seeing this workmate in a new light? Could you even say that he may like Kurosawa?

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: The sucky thing about BL animes is that the licensing company usually never dubs it. I know there are dubbed ones out there, but it sometimes feels like a why even bother looking. And I was ready to write this off as yet another BL anime that’s to be left alone. Crunchyroll released an English dub to this several months after the anime’s premier. When it comes to the sub, I’m glad I’m getting the opportunity to hear some of these men again. I only know the two main cast members for one big recent role and almost nothing else. So, this always helps me. Plus, this cast also has Makoto Furukawa and Ami Koshimizu. You cannot go wrong here!

Yes, there’s an actual female in the show. She was seen as a possible rival of love, but it just turns out she’s just a big shipper of Adachi and Kurosawa. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

SHIPPING: I have to wonder about Adachi for a moment. I know it’s clear that he’s a 30-year-old virgin. But not every relationship is built around sex. My question is, has Adachi ever been in a romantic relationship prior to meeting Kurosawa? By the looks of it, he really didn’t show much interest in hanging around other people. Even a small group of coworkers make him a little tense. It might have to do with this recent power that he has. There was also a flashback of something that happened to Adachi. It didn’t end well obviously. But I digress.

Time to open up a bag of cheesy popcorn and talk about these two boys.

Kurosawa’s mind is essentially an open book for Adachi. He knows Kurosawa has a burning passion for him. But Kurosawa doesn’t try to act upon his biggest urges. He gets an opportunity to kiss Adachi, but just does a safe kiss on the forehead. Modesty or just trying to not to be so obvious. Halfway into the series, there’s a confession and an acceptance. Seeing them move fast even for a 12-episode series makes me wonder if this relationship is going to go further like them sleeping together. And with that said, what would happen if Adachi loses his virginity? Will he lose his power? Oh, but I’m over-thinking things here. I’ve got another ship to discuss here.

Wait, what?! Are we going down the Junjou-Sekaiichi route?

Tsuge is Adachi’s long-time friend. He’s a writer and surprise, surprise a virgin like his friend. And just like Adachi, Tsuge got hit with the supernatural as whoever he has skin contact with, he can read their minds. Tsuge winds up making friends with a delivery boy, Minato. I know the boy is only coming back to see the kitty Tsuge recently adopted, but we all know what’s up. Unlike Adachi and Kurosawa, these two had no interest whatsoever at the beginning. It felt like Minato didn’t really see Tsuge as a friend until it was close to the end of the series. And Tsuge was a bit quicker with his feelings.

ENDING: By the halfway point, Adachi and Kurosawa are an item and went on their first awkward date. What comes next? Total honesty! Yeah, Adachi has been holding a pretty big secret from Kurosawa and that’s him being able to read thoughts when there’s skin-to-skin contact. Adachi almost let the secret out on accident once or twice, but could pass it off as one of them being too drunk. On Kurosawa’s birthday, there was an event for work. Adachi invited his friend Tsuge and Tsuge invited his friend Minato. This is when Adachi learns that Tsuge recently got the same power as Adachi.

Okay, so I guess that means it’s just the same power of being able to read minds. That just means Japan’s got a mass horde of 30-year-old virgins reading people’s thoughts. But of course, it can only work if there’s skin-to-skin contact. Depending on your life, you could go your whole life without noticing you have this power. But I digress.

Another effect to the power is that Adachi and Tsuge are able to communicate telepathically. The boys learn that this power led them to someone they have feelings for. Of course, Adachi can’t enjoy this moment of clarity. Kurosawa sees the two boys standing together and got jealous. Jealousy is Kurosawa’s ugliest trait. He is jealous of nearly every person Adachi talks to. After Tsuge leaves, Adachi reveals to Kurosawa that he has the mind-reading power and has had it for a while now. Thankfully, it didn’t cause a rift in the relationship. Both boys seem to love each other just the same if not more so. Although, Kurosawa is a bit embarrassed knowing that Adachi has kinda been prying in his mind for a while now.

Okay, the big reveal for Adachi is already out in the open and there’s three or four episodes left. What now? Something kinda huge! Work life kinda comes in and sticks a wrench in things. The higher-ups noticed how much Adachi has improved as of recent. You can chalk that up to Adachi now being able to read minds and the side-help he’s been getting from Kurosawa. But the big bosses wanted to give Adachi an opportunity at one of their other branches in Nagasaki. And currently, they are in a different city. I honestly forget where. It really felt like Adachi had no interest in doing this and not just because of Kurosawa. So, he tip-toes around the idea by speaking to another colleague about taking up the opportunity or not. This did not sit well with Kurosawa when he learned about what Adachi did. Kurosawa was not only mad that he didn’t discuss this situation with him, but that he spoke with another coworker about it.

Meanwhile, let’s look at Tsuge’s situation. Unlike his friend, Tsuge is not in a relationship with Minato and there’s an air of uncertainty of whether Minato feels the same way as Tsuge. Plus, Minato has got other things on his mind like dancing. He has the chance to go professional and be in a dance troupe. Tsuge has been a real big supporter of Minato. He even got him to an important performance when his bike ran out of gas. This looks like things are going to end nicely. Ehhh…that was until Tsuge reveals to Minato that he had a bit of an ulterior motive for doing so much to help him.

This is where we’re at. Adachi and Tsuge have not spoken to the guys they like for a couple of days. Both for different reasons, but both for stuff they said and did. The Minato situation is that Minato couldn’t talk about joining this dance troupe as it was sudden and secret until the reveal, so boy’s been busy. Tsuge showed up at the debut with a gift of new sneakers and hell yeah, Minato wanted to see Tsuge. Both boys reveal how they feel about each other currently. It’s looking good.

As for Adachi and Kurosawa, Adachi is on the 10-day business trip to Nagasaki and Kurosawa is just miserable. Actually, both boys are miserable! They both said and did things that they regret over a work issue. It looked as though Adachi was ghosting Kurosawa until Kurosawa got a hand-written letter from Adachi. More can be said in a letter than in a text message. Kurosawa winds up making the long trip to Nagasaki and waited for Adachi outside his hotel. Not only are they made up, they look like they’re about to fuck. Did they?

Oh, yes ma’am these boys fucked. Huh? I wonder if Adachi or Tsuge have sex if their mind-reading powers will disappear. Oop, right on cue! Yeah, Adachi lost it. It’s a weird feeling, but I think most of his thoughts are of trying to open this new location in Nagasaki and wanting to be with Kurosawa. And…ooh, I’m too excited because the end result made me very happy.

Rings. Vows. FUCKING WEDDING WITH EVERYONE THERE! Happy ending!

Sorry, after watching Yuri on Ice all those years ago, I’m still going to lose my shizzle when I see two boys who love each other exchange rings. God, I miss the fuck out of that show. Oh well, at least I know that we will one day get the Yuri on Ice movie that has been promised to us that is on its way since 2017.

I am now receiving word from some random place that the Yuri on Ice movie has been dropped by Studio Mappa. FUUUUUUUUUUU-

But as for this series, I liked it. I might even pick up the manga to quench this thirst of mine. I’m wondering how a story like this continues as both of these boys are now happily married. Unless the story decides to cover more with Tsuge and Minato. I think I’ll just check out the live-action drama that aired in 2023. Yeah, believe it or not, the live-action came out before the anime. I see a lot of hype surrounding this particular title. It’s no surprise that a compilation film was announced immediately after the season ended. That’s sometimes a good sign that more content is on the way. I think those who are into BL anime, this might be a good watch. And for those long-time Yuri on Ice holdouts…I’m pissed off too. But maybe, take your mind off the anger and check this puppy out.

The actual "staghunter" Orion Black/Harry Potter side of this blog is incredibly niche because I am basically writing and ranting about my own personal headcanon of an AU of an AU of an AU, which means it's basically original fiction at this point. However, I can't in good conscience write an original story when the dynamic is based on characters from the Harry Potter franchise (as someone who clocked AtIas S/ix not knowing the author was a dram!one BNF), so dump and rant here it is.

ephesus!Harry which is my version of Harry (in a story I haven't published) where her and Hermione's consciousness are reincarnated/sent back in time in order to stave off or prevent the heat death and total obliteration of magic in the 21st century through committing acts of extreme magical environmental conservation and interspecies liberation from wizards in the 40s. and both of them are considered dangerous terrorists by the ICW

Harry born as a normal Muggle in the 1940s

Prescient!Harry, by which she is a pureblood witch born to Fleamont and Euphemia but due to some ~family curse/inheritance~ she remembers all her past lives and possible futures a la Alia Atreides

And then Metamorphmagus!Orion, heir to an ancient and noble wizarding family that FUCKIN HATES non-wizards

I like the idea across some fans that the Potter and Black families are tied in some crazy intergenerational curse somehow, like one is doomed at the hands of the other and the other is also their saviour type of stuff, and it is only when they choose each other that their houses are saved from eternal doom (like sirius&james bffs forever, or charlus & dorea's marriage, or narcissa sparing harry's life)

There's soooo much potential for a romeo + juliet vibe here because the point of R&J is that they are houses both alike in dignity - they are on equal footing, no fucked up power dynamics affecting them badly (although those are fun to explore taken in an extreme way. like yes ex-convict sirius would marry his goddaughter in a heartbeat in order to keep the power-hungry vultures off of marrying either of them and getting a child with either of their genes, family name, fortune, and magical inheritance before harry dies. hell, a marriage would mean he could make harry his heir! winwin! is it a bonus that she looks exactly like her dad- his soulmate and other half- but with her mom's eyes? sure!)

anyway as an explanation. harry in any universe would absolutely ruin orion in any universe— it's the type of ruination that varies.

(and the fact that orion has no canonical traits except for "rich, magical blood supremacist father" is a perfect little sandbox for anything)

canon Harry:

W/ canon orion - friends to lovers. harry is in different emotional states for each book so it would depend when he'd teleport but even if you picked the angriest, most done version of him to drop off in the universe it would work. I love tomarry- platonic, romantic, antagonistic and fucked up in any universe- and putting the honeybadger version of Harry with one horcrux head boy tom riddle is sooooo nice it would be entertaining for all involved. especially when you go into canon that voldemort and walburga would be head boy by the time orion would be in 5th year. Personally would love to see Tom fume that Harry made friends with Orion & other Slytherins effortlessly by being his angry, vicious self while he had to be polite and lose his cockney accent and be this composed guy who would never get the respect of the real purebloods even after his Slytherin heritage was revealed

with girl orion- friends to lovers. orion would have loads more baggage being the heir-that-could-never-be since she was born a girl, and she would totally rebel in a beatrice horseman (née sugarman) way. except that harry would do right by her and actually respect her so not as tragic as that

ItRuns!Orion for me is a straight, straight dude who longs for affection. Harry is kind in canon, but they don't have a shared history- why the fuck would he give affection to an asshole like him. now would orion have a sexuality crisis over the hot new transfer who doesn't give a shit about his name and treats him like everyone else? yes. would harry ever answer or indulge that question? no. not pre-sixth year harry anyway. however, harry who is still grieving for his recently dead godfather would totally fuck the guy who looks like him. repeatedly and with aftercare. orion is ruined either way. it would be the most intense, soul-shattering, life-changing emotional and sexual relationship of orion black's life and he will never bring it up or share it to anyone ever.

squib orion would resent canon harry so much. but oh, stranger things have risen from such a large pool of emotion

metamorphmagus orion, specifically one actively hiding his creatureness from his family, would definitely be harry's ride or die. canon harry has a weird relationship with his celebrity and last name because both are the reasons for his being an outcast. he would be in the best place to teach orion to deal with and possibly learn to love that part of himself

AAAAAAAAAAAA DRAMATURGY EPILOGUEEE

I love the lengthy wrap up of so many loose ends, the slow mend of things torn and that utter contentment to be found with people just existing right there. This is going to be my go-to comfort fic for found family to re-read over and over and over and over

Now I wanna pick your brain on all the bits; worldwalker shapeshifting Gem? Its so coool I love it. When did you decide to give her and others (Scar, Cub?) powers? What did Cub actually do at the end of Grumbot there? What was your favorite part of the epilogue to write? And which part was the most emotional for you? (tough question, I know I can't choose between Pearl & Gem's or Pearl & Grian's conversations)

WHEW dear god thank you for presenting me a pass to go insane on a silver platter. i’ll be putting my answers under a read more so i don’t explode people’s feeds with nonsense

most of the magic decisions made are based ~mostly in what i know about canon, i just ended up filling in some blanks and playing around with what’s already there! i’m endlessly fascinated by gem’s dimension-hopping (empires isn’t addressed in dramaturgy, but i operate on everything she said about her powers in e2) and i think the idea that she can open portals at will and freely travel between worlds/universes in a way that other players can’t is amazing. then the shapeshifting just made sense to me in how she changes her appearance around to fit into whatever character she wants to take on in each world.

cub and scar lore i’m a lot less familiar with since i only know of certain clips about their vex deal, but i kind of treat it similarly to gem in that i assume they can shift their forms around (ie. how often scar changes to fit a character like gem does, cub going from old man to s8 e-boy skin) and have a peculiar knowledge around portals (ie. the big dig, scar using his “wizard portals” to travel between seasons.) however i think gem has a different kind of expertise working with portals with how often she dimension-hops, so those two were kind of just doing unethical science at the rift to see what stuck lol.

the rift on its own is its whole thing in my Fanon Brain, but i have a strong image of it as a living, breathing entity that sucks things in and spits them back out in other spaces indiscriminately. dramaturgy scar describes it as hungry and i think that’s about as apt as it gets. stuck perpetually wanting to consume yet unable to hold anything in. then one of my biggest plot problems to solve was making the story line up with grian’s lore, aka grumbot (prime) getting tossed in the canon timeline ominously hinting at the other grian’s crimes, so i asked myself how dramaturgy hermits could have weaponized the rift and that’s where i landed! i admittedly don’t have a specific answer to how cub would have aggravated the rift enough to make it go hogwild in chapter 10, but i personally just imagined him figuring it out at one point or another by throwing shit in until something worked

dear god this is already getting long but epilogue!!! my answer for favorite scene to write is a little anticlimactic but i love writing all the evo flashbacks. if you couldn’t tell i am completely evo enamored. i love the strange, off-putting, nostalgic innocence of “something unpreventable and life-altering is about to happen and they Don’t Know.” i love them working together to get to the stronghold and entering the end portal thinking it’s going to be another task of teamwork as always and then just *silence* on the other end. amazing incredible tragic love it

(also on that note i loved writing the scene atop the mansion. just one last hermit acting entirely too normal while subjecting pearl to cursed knowledge before we go)

and lastly for most emotional to write i’d definitely say the scene at the hobbit hole! i’ve had that one as well as the sleepover at impulse’s in the back of my mind for so long i’m just glad i got it out. getting there was like the end of an era for me. everything with grian and pearl finally being back together but still not quite on the same page. i think pearl seeing grian so taken aback in the face of the tangible proof of his actions and mumbo’s feelings was the straw that broke the camel’s back, because at this point in the story pearl’s finally willing to see herself in mumbo’s situation. she’s finally realizing how badly she needs this specific closure but grian’s too busy going ???my actions… have consequences? i can’t just run off into the night with no negative impact on the people around me?

(which is of course also a matter of a warped sense of self-image and understanding emotions, but grian will go on murder sprees in the 3rd life time loop box before exercising an ounce of self-reflection, more at 11.) and only after seeing pearl shaking like a sad wet chihuahua clutching this random notebook of his like it’s the sacred texts does he really start to grasp how genuinely bad it’s been for her. like that would have been obvious to anyone who’s normal but whatever. i love studying skyblings like bugs

Summary: An (OC) Weasley has a child with Lucius. She comes back to the wizarding world much to Arthur's dismay.

"This isn't smart. He will know you are back, Isobel, if he doesn't know it already," Arthur Weasley hissed at his younger sister. The siblings were currently fighting in her home. The warm welcoming dinner he had at his home was a sharp different than the current mood. Her older brother was worried for her safety. He had every right to be. The witch was playing with fire and was going to get burned the longer she stayed.

He peered out the window cautiously. Two witches walked past the window chatting about the various events happening in the wizarding world. Otherwise, the sidewalk was empty as normal. Arthur sighed and checked down the sidewalk once more. Not a single soul appeared. He closed the curtains roughly. "And Finn looks exactly like that awful son of his except for the red hair. There is no doubt he could easily spot him tomorrow while they are getting their school supplies."

"Can't ever get rid of that red hair," Isobel joked and ran her fingers through her hair. She was proud her son did not have blonde-white hair. The way Arthur glared at her made her realize he was not joking with her. She cleared her throat. "It's going to be fine. He hasn't seen me yet. More importantly, his wife and the other Blacks haven't seen me yet. Finn will go to Hogwarts and he'll be protected,"

Despite her brother's fears, she was happy to be home. Finn, her eleven-year-old son, deserved to be with his family. He had many cousins that he was just being able to hang out with. She always felt safe at Hogwarts. Finn would no doubt be safe under the protection of the Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Isobel was a skilled witch. She could take care of herself.

"You think this is the time for a laugh? He has power in the Ministry. Some would say he has power over the Minister himself. One wrong move and he will trump up charges to send you to Azkaban without so much as a trial," he warned. "And that boy of yours will be raised by the Malfoys. I refuse to ever let my nephew be raised by such vile people just because my sister isn't thinking,"

Isobel rubbed her fingers on her temples. He was giving her a headache. There was no way he would allow her to be thrown in Azkaban. Arthur was always protective and that clouded his thinking especially when it came to Isobel.

"I think you are over exaggerating just a little. We are going to meet Gilderoy Lockhart at Flourish and Blotts, get school supplies for the kids, and go home," she assured him. Isobel walked to her fireplace. Soft taps on the top of the fireplace signaled it was time for him to go home. Arthur followed behind her. "Go home. Be with your wife, your kids, and your nephew. I'll see you tomorrow. Please tell my son I love him,"

"I know I can't talk some sense into you. You have always been so stubborn," he sighed in defeat. "Luckily, I am going to be there as well,"

"Nothing can hurt me with you there, brother. Have a good night," she bid him farewell and hugged him. He grabbed powder from a jar at the side of the fireplace and stepped into the fireplace. A long frown appeared on his face. Worry and fear of what was going to come evident in his face. Nothing good ever came from crossing the Malfoys. He announced his home and he was suddenly engulfed in green flames. Once the green flames died down, he was gone.

The next morning was a rush for Isobel. She woke up late, like usual, and had to rush to get to Diagon Alley. Her family must have been waiting for her by now. Upon getting ready, she stepped into the fireplace and called out Diagon Alley. The floo transportation was the best way to travel. The speed of getting from one place to another was unmatched except for apparition. Once she arrived in Diagon Alley, she quickly found her family. They were practically the only group of redheads around.

The late woman walked into Flourish and Blotts. She saw her nephews, Fred and George, along with her son waiting around the corner. The three of them couldn't care less about the likes of Gilderoy Lockhart. They were looking into a book.

"Finally, mum. I told them I should have gone to the house to make sure you were awake," Finn smiled and hugged her. Isobel rolled her eyes and kissed the top of his head.

"Hey, Fred, where is your dad? I feel like if I don't meet up with him in the next ten minutes he is going to kill me,"

"He is not Fred, I am," the other twin, Fred, spoke while looking up from the book.

"Honestly woman you call yourself our aunt," George tutted.

"I'm sorry, but your father, where is he?" She asked more urgently. The twins pointed to her brother talking to a man and woman. Isobel excused herself and made her way through the crowd to meet with her brother. Several of the members of the crowd didn't want to move for her. They felt like she was skipping to see Lockhart quicker. Finally, she started pushing past people and apologizing after. Once she made it to Arthur, he introduced her to the parents of one of his son's friends.

The friend's parents were charming. Arthur, of course, led the conversation with witty jokes about the wizarding world. Her heart swelled at seeing two muggles love their child enough to learn about their world. There were many parents before that would disown them. An uneasy feeling suddenly took hold of her like she was being watched. Out of the corner of her eye, a tall man with white-blonde hair could be seen. A slight panic coarsed through her body. Finn was across the shop with his cousins. The two were so close and she silently prayed that Lucius wouldn't recognize his other son. Her heart started to race and her face grew red. There was no way she could have been foolish enough to not bring Finn with her.

Arthur looked at Isobel. She seemed to have stopped engaging in conversation with them. Her outward appearance showed of someone that was panicking. He observed Lucius and his family speaking at the entrance. He excused himself from the others and made his way towards them. It was his duty to protect his children and nephew from that evil man.

After what felt like an eternity, Lucis left the store along with the copycat version of his son. Her heart rate started to come back down. She excused herself from the crowd and walked to her family.

"Percy, Fred, George, take Finn to get his school supplies. Let me know if anything comes up," he instructed. "Once you have finished meet me back at the Burrow,"

The four boys took off talking about the showdown that just went on with Arthur Weasley and Lucius Malfoy.

"Arthur, I-"

"Go home, Isobel. We will talk later," he instructed her.

Isobel walked away from her family quickly. There was no more argument coming out of her. Her brother was right. She should have never ventured out where Lucius could be. Tears pricked her eyes. He would surely take their son away. Suddenly, a rough hand grabbed her arm and moved her towards a brick wall in a dark alley. Her back pressed against the wall. A cold, silver snake head pressed against the bottom of her chin. Her head slowly raised to meet the eyes of one Lucius Malfoy. His gaze had an evil glint like a predator would their prey.

"So the rumors are true," he spoke. His other hand caressed her cheek. "You have come back,"
