New Gossip Girl 2021 ocs
All I'll say is blame @cecexwrites for enabling me
(gossip girl besties I'm also very here for crossovers 👀 @the-witching-ash @manyfandomocs @ginevrastilinski-ocs @cecexwrites )
Tumblr media
Aislin Hart in Social Suicide
Lowkey James Locke 2.0 but her mom doesn't love her; parents pushed her into performing from a very young age, bit of a child star (child actor to popstar) to trainwreck situation Homeschooled for most of her life but starting high school (or as a sophomore) there was a push from part of her team for her to go to a real school for “relatability” reasons, gets enrolled at constance billard, starts to befriend the gang but then lockdown happens and she is pushed by her parents to be basically 24/7 content machine no matter what, just as she hits her breaking point, schools reopen for real She's trying so hard to be caught in a scandal where she'll be told to "take a break from the public eye" and not have to be 24/7 content creating but it keeps not working and she's going insane about it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chloe Branson (Anna Cathcart) & Nora Branson (Lana Condor) & Milton Milo Aston in Fortune & Fame
The Branson sisters gre wup middle class. Nora is used to a relatively normal life, mostly raised Chloe because their parents were always working. Their parents recently got very very rich from an app her mom made or something details still tbd, kids are transferred to Constance, parents are still never around. Nora befriends some of the core group but thinks they’re very out of touch, Chloe has just started high school and gets totally swept up in all of it Milo Aston is Nora's eventual love interest, popular jock, close with Aki & Obie because of sports, everyone thinks he’s this spoiled rich brat but actually his dad is rich & pays for school but he grew up with his mom who was solidly middle class and lives outside of the city. His parents agreed for him to start living with his dad as a sophomore because St Jude’s had a better chance of getting him sports opportunities in college, he got very caught up in the flashy lifestyle for a while but has generally settled down until gossip girl gets involved
Tumblr media
Gabriela Caparros in Reputation
Rafa's younger sister, parents are very not involved in her life, Rafa is semi raising her but also very emotionally absent so Gabriela is used to just taking care of herself, she struggles to open up to anyone let alone to ever let anyone help her. She and Max have had an on-and-off fling for a long time before he set his eyes on her brother. Gabi knows Rafa and knows his tendency to sleep with students just after they become of legal age, tries to warn Max away from him but Max thinks that she’s being petty & jealous
Tumblr media
Jazz Ellis in Doll Heart
Davis Calloway had a history of getting women drunk and coercing them into sex: he didn't know he got one of them pregnant. Jazz's mom had been Davis' assistant and an aspiring singer, one too many late nights working led to him offering her a drink, then another drink, until Jazz's mom was wasted, they had sex, and Jazz was conceived. Needing an escape from New York, her mom moves to LA andstarts her music career there instead. Jazz grew up between LA & being on tour with her mom, they moved to New York only three months before everything went into lockdown. Pre-lockdown Jazz became a part of the group, not knowing the Julian connection. She learns the truth during the pandemic and returns to school carrying this heavy secret but not knowing how to bring it up, or even if she should
Tumblr media
Sasha Davenport in Material Girl
all vibes so far but Paris & Obie's third musketeer, daughter of a very influential lawyer and equally influential politician who expect constant perfection to maintain the family image

tagged by both @bigcheezey and @siennamain to list 5 songs that remind me of my characters, so I wanted to do one for each of my Dragon Age main characters (including my fledgling DA4 protag hehe
i'm tagging @bitchesofostwick @cullenvhenan @cairamelcoffee and @tatert07s 💗
Talvinder Kaur of House Cousland, Hero of Ferelden, Queen Consort to King Alistair Theirin, First of Her Name
Ek ladki ko dekha, Kumar Sanu
When I saw this one girl I felt like, when I saw this one girl I felt like: Like a blooming rose, like a poet's dream, like a glowing ray of light, like a deer in the forest, like a full moon night, like a soft word, in the temple, like a burning candle.
Aislin Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall, Princess of Starkhaven, Friend to the Inquisition
I love you but I need another year, Liza Anne
I don't think enough before I say too much I'm digging my own grave with all the shit I say I keep my head high, kind of like a lie To say I'm doing fine even when I'm losing my mind

Elodie Aubert-Amell, Viscountess of Kirkwall, Flame of the Orlesian Court
Land of the Living, Roo Panes
Where did they go? That which I cherished and that I wrestled. Don't want to be like the dust that settles This empire of nothing. I find that I'm king of all these empty halls, that I'm ruled by my own floors.
But you can't be an old fire if you were burning with a new flame. So remember that you were never a forgotten name.
La'ara Ma'Suledin O'Cathasaigh, First of Clan Lavellan, Inquisitor
In the Kitchen, Mree
Bounded by the gravity Of all the other dreams that I was given Memories start calling me I have to find my way to find my rhythm Night on the avenue on the wrong side of town I thought, I thought, I thought I heard them call
Badhbh the Faceless
Here Come the Wolves, Lola Blanc
Here come the wolves Coming to get ya I run through the woods I'm not gonna let you go I'm baring my teeth, I'm ready My tongue is a sharp machete So why do I feel unsteady?
You can run, run, run, little lamb And it's not, not, not who I am But I'm a wolf now Guess I'm a wolf now

Never forget that, due to a multitude of factors, including: her first girlfriend being incredibly selfish and “all take and no give”, the severe damage her body sustained from her accident, the surgeries afterwards, said girlfriend cheating on and breaking up with her while she was in the hospital recovering from said accident and surgeries, and just the severe strain her special forces training put her body through before all of that, Aislin, beneath all her confidence and self-assured attitude, is actually very much hiding deep self-image issues, rooted in her original, timid personality.
Missing her left leg below the knee, having a massive, grotesque scar on the left side of her abdomen, the tips of her left pinky and ring fingers are outright gone, her hands can’t close all the way, her knees likewise don’t bend fully, and having a slightly fucked up digestive system all contribute to her own image of herself as a broken, undesirable mess.
Even once she’s in a relationship, and perhaps especially then, she takes any perceived hint that she’s unattractive as reinforcing that self image, and will drop her into a gloomy, melancholic mood. If someone she sees as more attractive flirts with her partner and they don’t immediately get defensive or even just try to brush them off politely without getting confrontational, she’ll take that as a sign that they find the flirter more attractive and desirable than her.
The charming, self-confident Irish woman you might’ve fallen in love with is just a defense mechanism she created to not fall apart further than she already has, and anyone who wants to be in a relationship with her can hopefully manage that in a healthy manner.

The Hardest Reading Challenge - August Release
I was hoping to read more August 2024 releases in August to give me more options for this prompt, but I did end up getting around to Road to a Cowboy, a m/m cowboy romance by Amy Aislin. This is the second book in her Windsor, Wyoming series, which featured Home for a Cowboy as its first novel. Home was released in 2020, and after a while I wasn't sure if this would actually become a series. But Amy brough out the stops for a sequel starring Austin and Cal, two guys who have been best friends forever, both secretly want to be more, but neither one knows how to make that step without hurting their friendship. It's a solid friends to lovers romance set in the beautiful backdrop of the Windsor-March family ranch. I don't know what it is about Amy Aislin's books, but they're always such a comfort to me, and Road to a Cowboy was no different. I've heard news of this being a trilogy, so if I have to wait another four years for the next book I'll happily do so. Final rating: 4/5

the recurring theme of this blog that is ‘hey its kinda sad and/or horrifying when you are either not seen as a person or you are forced to become something that is Not You’
eichio being raised into becoming a perfect lowblood that robbed him of all agency or ability to set boundaries because he’s supposed to be a thing to be exploited first and a person second
velour marketing himself as a kind and approachable content creator which has caused him to accept that he needs to be a consumable commodity that others are allowed to attach themselves to and project onto, because parasocialism brings in large amounts of money. and sometimes being a hollow personality is more acceptable than trying to be himself
vallis getting so fucked up by eldritch influence that he was designated as a vessel/offshoot of the actual entity by gaia, and does not realise that he is no longer fully troll and thus people will see him as a thing rather than a person
linnae being held captive for the majority of their life and being deliberately left uneducated and immature because that made them easier to control, and treated more like a pretty doll that happened to be alive in order to keep them content
glasya lost an entire sweep of their life to demonic possession, and was left with the knowledge that they have committed terrible atrocities during a time that they were not themself, yet they cannot claim that the person they were at that time was not them when they can still vividly recall the feeling of the knife in their hands and the taste of viscera in their mouth
nancor dehumanising himself by letting himself become consumed by his own grief that has been caused by his psiionics, and forcing himself to continue to serve others as punishment for the sin of being unable to prevent the deaths of others
mikiel and aislin having psiionics that can make them hot commodities for someone else’s use as weapons of war, and their ancestors losing their identities after being forced into becoming those weapons
callan having psiionics that force him to cling to any scrap of personal identity he can put together just so that he can be remembered by those he meets, otherwise he is literally just a blurred face in the crowd

A White Rock, B.C., family is finally getting answers about how their mother died of a medical emergency while in an RCMP holding cell.
After eight years, the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is releasing a report showing that stereotypes about drug issues likely played a role in Patricia Wilson’s death.
“We’re lost. We’re floating adrift trying to find closure,” Nathan Beveridge, Patricia Wilson’s son, told Global News.
“She had a profound impact on people’s lives. She was super caring, loving, amazing woman who had a major flaw and that was a disease that she had which was addiction.”
The investigation into Wilson’s death is the longest in the B.C. police watchdog’s history and the findings are startling.
“To know that’s how our mom spent her last days, hours, and minutes, is terrifying. It’s just horrible,” Beveridge said. [...]

Since you've gifted with so many orchid rambles, I've decided asking you will be a lot more fun thank asking Google lol
Are orchids difficult to take care of? :0 they've got a reputation for being a very persnickety plant, but I've heard somewhere that stores often put awful/incorrect instructions for how to take care of them, so their difficulty may not ~actually~ be their fault. Thoughts? 🤔
Hahaha, I fully support asking me over Google!! I've gotten a lot of my orchid information from various direct sources (feat. my mom, Aislin, Reddit, and MissOrchidGirl on YouTube) because you are extremely correct: the information that most shops give, especially grocery store orchid labels, is wildly inaccurate!
Personally, I find your usual grocery store phalaenopsis orchids to be one of the easiest plants to take care of, and also that they're bred to bloom repeatedly and prolifically. I have a grocery store orchid that's been holding onto the same flowers for nine months, which is abjectly ridiculous. My grocery store phals will bloom twice a year and typically hold blooms for 3-6 months. At long as you set them up correctly, they're very low maintenance!
The main thing is that while they're easy plants, they are also different from the houseplants that most people are used to and that's what trips people up. For example: they're epiphytes so you can't plant them in soil, it will eventually kill them! You also should not water them with ice cubes like some labels advise: they are tropical plants that don't appreciate a shock of cold water, and it's often not enough water. The other thing is that most orchids bought from grocery or big box stores are not set up/potted for success in a home environment. A lot of people bring orchids home only for them to die soon after, and it's often due to the conditions they bought the orchid in (or, uh, occasionally, thinking that the flowers fading is the same as the whole plant dying).
The basic three fundamentals of keeping orchids I like to espouse:
Repot them into a fresh orchid bark mix and a clear orchid pot with slotted sides (you can then put this in a prettier cache pot like I do) within a month of acquisition. This way you know they're not drowning in pure sphagnum moss, old seedling dirt plugs, or decomposing old bark, all of which may cause root rot and kill the plant. Repot once every 1-2 years. Here's a good video on it!
Water them by soaking the whole pot in room temperature water for 15 minutes or so. You know they're ready for water when the potted roots turn silvery rather than vibrant green (this is where the clear pot comes in handy), but usually about once a week is also good! You may also add orchid fertilizer into this water for greater success in growth and blooming.
Put them somewhere bright without direct afternoon sunlight. A north window that gets bright indirect light, or an east window that gets some morning sunlight. Harsh afternoon sunlight may burn them, but they do enjoy a lot of light when possible.
And that's it! Just the correct amount of light, water about once a week, and putting them in a better potting mix than what they came in. You can get more involved than that if you want, but for the average person I think this is really what it comes down it.
Now, I have more orchids than just phalaenopsis orchids (I have two oncidiums, one dendrobium nobile, one cattleya, and three phalaenopsis hybrids) that can require slightly different care, so if you get something different from the standard "moth orchid," it's a good idea to look up specific care requirements. But phals are generally really easy in my personal opinion!

so @wllipt and @stolperzunge s terror daemon au has taken up residence in my brain and is paying zero rent
I also grew up with cats and know a good amount abt housecat behavior. Cats ‘allogroom’, which is social cleaning between members of the same species. It’s a bonding activity, and also a reflection/reinforcement of social hierarchy; older cats will usually be the ones grooming younger cats, etc. Housecats will also frequently groom their humans (my cat did this all the time, it is not an exceedingly pleasant sensation when you don’t have fur and they’re just nibbling/using their sandpaper tongue on your skin, but it was out of love so I usually let her do it lol).
So anyway I can’t stop thinking about Jopson’s daemon, a Siamese cat named Lydia, grooming the other daemons, specifically Little’s little mole Cornelia. Lydia pins her down by the tail and everyone is like LYDIA NO WTF but she’s just aggressively trying to get the ice and dirt and dust out of Cornelia’s fur bc holy shit, how do you manage to get just as disheveled as your human when you’ve barely got any fur and you’re the size of a dinner roll, hang on just hold still—
And also. When Crozier is going through withdrawal, at one point, Lydia hops up on the bed with him and settles down beside his head on the pillow, and proceeds to gently lick at his hair like an adult cat might do for a kitten. Crozier, not entirely lucid and not thinking, fumblingly reaches up and gives her a little scritch between the ears. She sits by him and purrs. They don’t talk about it afterward.
(When Jopson is dying, and Crozier is telling him the story about the cow, his daemon Aislin cautiously settles on Jopson’s head and begins awkwardly but sincerely lovingly preening his hair like she would preen her own feathers. Obviously Jopson does not have feathers and so it’s not entirely comfortable (sharp beak!) and so instead she tucks herself under Jopson’s chin and makes soft little happy bird noises—not because she’s happy, but in an attempt to soothe him.)

𝕽𝖚𝖑𝖊𝖘
NO minors (under 18 years old / still in high school) or personal blogs please! I’d prefer to write only with muns ABOVE age 21, as I am currently 27 (6/2024) years old.
Open to non-mutuals, but still semi-selective toward the selective side
Preferential treatment given to those I’ve built an OOC relationship with / am heavily affiliated with. Just being honest.
No god modding with the exception of starters, as I know you kind of have to a bit to write a decent starter
Multi-para / novella length replies usually. Please attempt to meet my length or at least my effort. Sometimes replies are short to move things along, I get that.
No auto-shipping, as Relta does not want to fall in love or have a co-monarch as a default in the phoenix queen/queen of ashes verses
IF we do ship, know I’ll be simping for them and wish to talk about them OOC a fair amount. Also, expect playlists for solidified ships haha.
My main triggers are animal death, parent death, cancer, infertility, and Dementia/Alzheimer's. Memory issues due to other reasons are fine. PLEASE let me know your triggers so I can avoid them as well.
Dark topics will be present, and the presence of NSF/W isn’t impossible. I will tag NS/FW as “lemons” or “mild lemons” depending on the severity (like PG-13 versus R rated).
Relta is queer, as is the mun. Please be respectful of that.
The mun is neurodivergent and disabled, so please be patient with me. I may miss stuff like social cues at times.
My discord is open to mutuals, but it’s an easy one to guess based on my main blog hub title lol
I have studied history and international politics in college, and plan to focus on medieval times in graduate school when I attend. Relta’s verses on this blog are heavily influenced by actual history and historical figures, so please know I HAVE done my research or asked my Tudor historian friend lol I might twist it and throw in a ton of various influences, but it’s still historically inspired.
I saw BBC’s Robin Hood…18 years ago now…when it first came out and I was a kid, so I’m a bit rusty on it since I can’t find a free way to rewatch it. Thus, I’ll be leaning into headcanons a bit and actual history about King Richard, the Crusades, and Robin Hood lore for the V: Lionhearted verse. I’d be happy to discuss the show AND history/lore with anyone interested in this verse.
I often post worldbuilding and headcanon stuff about Relta in these verses, so don’t be surprised if they outnumber IC posts for a while.
Relta has been an OC of mine since I played make believe with my friends in elementary school, and simply has evolved to who she is now through a passion for creative writing and a gaining of knowledge on character building. She’s still a bit Mary Sue-ish at times, but I work hard to incorporate her flaws and weaknesses as much as I do her strengths and positive traits. She’s not perfect, as no one is.
I am mobile always, so I cannot cut posts unfortunately.

One Hundred Thousand Wisdoms for Dealings With the Fae [an ACOTAR reimagining]
Tumblr media
Three sisters, three journeys, and three fickle fae lords share one fate. (Read it here.)
The Wicklighter girls count three: gentle Aislin, brave Eire, and cunning Niamh. Like other mortals - ever since the ancient war that sent faekind into hiding and cleft the land in two - the sisters have always dreaded and hated the Fair Folk, whom mortal legend calls both fearsome and deadly. When Eire kills a fae wearing the guise of a bloodthirsty wolf, Niamh gives herself up to the Folk as a bride, hoping that they then might not take her sister’s life in revenge. Spirited away, Niamh meets with an unexpectedly alluring face of the beastly fae. So do her two sisters, who each cross the fae through their own struggles to mend what’s left of the Wicklighter family. Having learned new truths about the nature of the struggle between faeries and mortaldom, they must ask themselves: Can they trust age-old enemies of mankind whom they’ve come to love - and risk the safety of kingdoms for their sake - or do these wild, strange roses conceal only a bounty of thorns?
“Is this an ACOTAR fanfic?” Yes and no. It’s a ground-up rewrite that ended up deviating quite a bit from the source. You’ll find obvious analogs to the Archeron sisters (Feyre, Elain, and Nesta are reimagined as Eire, Aislin, and Niamh respectively; Feyre’s now the middle sister, Elain the youngest), and some broad plot points and narrative thrusts are maintained (the story still begins with Eire felling a wolf who is really a fae in disguise, for whose death the fae demand the exchange of a mortal life in turn; there is a magic wall that keeps mortal and fae lands apart following a now-ancient war between the two; there are fae courts ruled by lords of great and wild power, though the particular courts and lords differ greatly from those in the source). If you loved ACOTAR as is, you may or may not like this story. If you liked the broad aesthetics of ACOTAR (fae, wild magic, and romance between plucky mortal women and powerful, melancholy faerie guys) but were disappointed with the specifics of its execution, you might like this more.
“How long is this going to be?” Honestly, I don’t know. Long, probably. I have a lot planned.
“Is this a romance? Will there be sex scenes? Is this OK for younger readers?” Yes (though it’s not only romance); yes (eventually - we have a lot of plot to cover before that happens); probably not, but I’m not your mother.
“What makes this different from ACOTAR?” Well, aside from like, everything, I’m consciously trying to make this a much more diverse story (e.g., ⅔ of the non-female romantic leads are planned to be unambiguously non-White - one has extremely dark skin with vitiligo, the other is East Asian-coded; one non-female romantic lead is planned to be genderfluid, and another is bisexual, both with on-page representation of this). I’m also trying to walk more of a line where dynamics and behaviors may not always be healthy but, in cases where they are not, they are acknowledged as such and the narrative appropriately and satisfyingly shows development away from those dynamics and behaviors (or does not present characters perpetrating them as “good” or broadly admirable characters if they do not develop out of said dynamics and behaviors). You can find a longer (non-exhaustive) list of stuff I’m trying to achieve with this fic here.
“Why?” Well, because I like doing this. It’s fun.
“Where’s the credit for your cover art?” That’d be me. I mocked this up from scratch in Krita at like 1 AM with my own puny mortal hands (no AI, promise - I do not trust the robots). I am not a professional artist, so you get what you get.
“Who are you?” Here’s the answer.
Enjoy! (Or don’t. Again, I’m not your mom.)

12 Autumnal Reads With Pan Rep
Tumblr media
As the days grow longer in the Northern hemisphere we don more layers, grab a hot drink, and say goodbye to summer. While maybe too cuddling up with a book. In similar fashion to the past for Pan Pride Day with wintry stories, and Pan Visibility Day for sunny reads, this time I’ve put together a list of examples offering pan rep set around the autumn season. Across demographics, several genres, and various lengths, the cozy to murderous, feasibly one will fit that next read. But no matter what may suit one’s tastes and whims, as always happy reading! (For content notes please see my reviews on Storygraph.)
Tumblr media
A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows, boasting a gorgeous autumn leaf themed cover, is a hefty first installment in the fantasy series the The Tithenai Chronicles. An unprecedented surprise diplomatic marriage between nobles Velasin vin Aro (gay) and Caethari Xai Aeduria, (bi/pan) sparks more than attraction. Violence, murder, and a hefty dose of intrigue swirl.
The Adventures of Isabel by Candas Jane Dorsey, the first in the Epitome Apartments Mystery series with a cast of colorful characters, is an offbeat mystery. Opening in September, at its center a coarse Canadian ex-social worker turned clueless amateur detective (bisexual/ambisexual/pansexual). Convinced to investigate the murder of a friend’s granddaughter, more than a case will end up cracking.
Tumblr media
All the Things We Do in the Dark by Saundra Mitchell is a YA psychological thriller. Set in small-town Maine in October and told by Ava (pan), a 17-year-old with PTSD who stumbles on the body of a murdered teenage girl. Scared, haunted, and distrustful she’ll sleuth out a killer while trying to hold herself together. Author Saundra Mitchell is also pansexual. Note this is furthermore a title that has been banned in some libraries in the US.
Bride of the Corpse King by Emily Shore is a New Adult dark fantasy retelling of Hades and Persephone. Needing the winnings for her family, Isla Adayra (pansexual) enters the Bone Games. Further to escape a match with a dreadful lascivious Elder, she’ll offer herself to one more powerful the Corpse King. Allysteir accepted his duty of the gods’ Curse, but year after year the cost bearing the spirit of the God of Death weighs heavily. Allysteir doesn’t want another bride, but Isla just might be strong enough to tempt Death and even more.
Tumblr media
The Ghosts of Halloweenby Ceillie Simkiss takes a light Christmas Carol vibe presenting three bite-sized Halloween short stories about couple Cora (panromantic asexual) and Elena (lesbian) from the Learning Curves series, I previously mentioned in my wintry post. Expect more of what makes this romance series a treat. Author Ceillie Simkiss is also panromantic asexual.
The Home I Find with You by Skye Kilaen is a hopepunk polyam romance set in the aftermath of a second civil war in the United States. Van (pan) the lead defender for a circuit of towns in rural Colorado with his girlfriend Hadas meet Clark (gay,) after Clark shows up unexpectedly in the aptly named Freshtown. Vampirella from horror host to heroinesince 1969 has become a sensual pansexual icon enthralling comic readers across the globe. Including me with Vampi having the honour of being the first pan character I knew of. If you need some direction on what to read, SYFY has a Pull List for the Legacy of Vampirella. (Though I’d skip anything by Warren Ellis.)

Wild and Crooked by Leah Thomas has Kalyn and Gus two teenagers that become unlikely friends despite a decades old murder that connects them. Set in small-town lush Kentucky autumn with a smell “like sticky cinnamon”, the slow burn here isn’t romance— but a mystery. There’s abundant queerness: Kalyn likes girls. Gus questions and is regarded as pansexual by many readers and critics to quote “When it comes to people, I care about personality before anything else, and gender’s another characteristic that factors into that. Maybe that does land me in one queer realm or another”. Plus, his mother has a female partner. Too note, garnering young adult award nominations, this is another title that has been listed among book challenges.
The Witches of Portland series by T. Thorn Coyle brings readers an urban fantasy with a social justice basis and dash of romance.
