I have so many things to say about this scene:

- people aren’t jealous of their partners’s best friends, not unless you think they’re going to cheat on you (mike be shipping Elmax)

- ‘boyfriends’ el says sagely, as if everything makes perfect sense, and considering how close she is to Mike, she’s almost definitely aware of the entire Will situation

- mike’s problems with telling el he loves her started much earlier then season 4

- El’s also head cannoning a confused bisexual mike wheeler

- the people who think Will deserves better than mike, he has flaws but he can improve, his character arc is one of my favourites because it’s so intricate and complicated

- them fixing their relationship (meant in the non romantic sense) at the first-aid aisle just shows the attention to detail in the show

- I don’t give enough of a fuck to pretend to do an analysis of this anymore I just love this scene, the acting is perfect, the eyebrow raise when he says he wanted her all to himself, the “you’ve never heard that phrase, y’know ‘blank’ makes you crazy?”, this is perfect, the scenes from this season are better than people give them credit for

Okay, but, like, what do you say in English when starting a meal/telling someone to enjoy their meal?

Do you literally just say "Enjoy you meal!"? Because that sounds way too long and tedious

The dynamic of crowley and aziraphale is so interesting. Like, most people would assume its an angel teaching a demon how to be "good" but honestly its about a demon teaching an angel to question the meaning of "good".

Crowley fell because he was asking questions, trying to figure out why things had to happen the way they were. Aziraphale saw certain things happening (Job's temptation) and knew they were wrong, but instead of working against heaven, he wanted to show heaven what was wrong. But crowley has always been against the sides entirely!!! He works for his own agenda. And he taught aziraphale that it was okay to do so.

So when aziraphale decided to return to heaven as the supreme archangel, it was a betrayal of everything crowley had built with aziraphale. Aziraphale was asking crowley to change the fundamental part of himself so they could be together, trying to fix the system that chewed him up and spit him out. Honestly, any other reaction to that would have been a betrayal of crowleys character.

I think the heart of it is that crowley and aziraphale arent opposites, but theyre at different parts of the same journey. Crowley knows heaven cant be fixed, and he thought aziraphale knew that too.

yoh and ren's relationship feels the healthiest and realistic because there is conflict and disagreement at times that is worked out through a blanket sense of knowing each other but also explicitly discussing and communicating thoughts and concerns when needed

idk man you can't convince me that anna just knows what yoh's thinking all the time every time without shit being said, i feel less and less understanding of the relationship between yoh and anna the more i look at it someone else explain to me maybe

today on the train home the guy next to me was on his phone and at one point i saw him go on tumblr and he just had like. a normie dash. like it was all photography. of nature and architecture. he was using tumblr the way a heterosexual landscaper for rich people might use instagram. i actually had to watch his screen for a few seconds to be sure it really was tumblr because i was so taken aback by the content he was viewing. this is why algorithmless websites are so beautiful btw because i genuinely didn't know that this side of tumblr even existed. he didn't even so much as scroll past any text posts.

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.

you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.

you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.

don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.

if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.

you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:

how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!
