((psss MIra, that pride post was made using an Ai generator))
I’ll go back and tag it (my bad), but the post clearly mentioned it was generated - my main issue with AI is when people don’t label it (which this post did). Well. That and the more specific art generators now are using stolen art. I did feel like pride clouds were less likely to have been trained on stolen art.
AI issues are complicated.

How to Support Writers During the Scourge of A.I. Bullshit
Do
Interact with us. Talk to us. Reach out to us. Many writers physically write for themselves, but they share for others. To build a community and connect with someone, to learn from them, and to make a genuine connection through something they've created. Comments, questions, rambling tags, they all mean that our writing reached someone who genuinely enjoyed it.
Share our work. This does not mean repost, this means reblog and/or send the link to friends and other potential readers. Some writers may have negative experiences with their work being shared on other platforms (such as discord), but reblogging is almost always appreciated so we can reach a wider audience. Even if you don't have anything to say or comment, it will help.
Ask questions. Many writers are dying to talk about the creative choices they made, the word choice they fought with until they got it just right, the details they added just HOPING someone would notice it. If you wish you could get more context/detail about a piece, odds are all you have to do is ask!
Treat us like humans (because we are). Crazy concept, right? The thing that terrifies me the most about all this is the potential that we take humanity out of the arts. We replace it with A.I. until human creativity becomes irrelevant because it's more convenient and more profitable.
We are not robots making content for your entertainment, we are people sharing stories to make genuine human connections and share our passions. Stories that take hours, days, months, even years of our lives to properly craft. We practice and study and learn so that we can express ourselves skillfully. Even when done as a hobby for fun, there is heart and energy and time put into the final draft.
And finally, Don't
Use A.I. for anything. Because the more it's used, the more advanced it becomes. The more advanced it becomes, the harder it will be to discern a genuine human touch between an A.I. regurgitating what it's been taught.
In the end, this is a plea. I'm begging you. Do not give A.I. the ability to replace us.

Wish fervent AI tech enthusiasts would understand that it's nice to manually do something (e.g make art on your own even if it's not up to par to what you'd like to make), because else your brain will rot.

for the electric dreams remake, all i care about is that edgar has the most obnoxious early 2000s internet aesthetic possible. i repeat, THE MOST OBNOXIOUS. 2 billion blinkies, terrible gradients, bad contrast, absolutely unreadable bullshit. if modern tech minimalism comes anywhere near that entire movie i’m going to throw up

Commentary and thoughts my sister, brother, and I have on Touchstarved after playing the demo. Spoilers, I guess (???)
---Leander is an ass man.
-----when asked how did he come to this decision, my brother stated its because his pecs are huge enough to be cheeks. That is his only evidence.
---Vere is kinky.
----Sister said this came mainly from how he talked about Ais at the end of the demo. Also, brother says he probably likes being yanked by the chain; I vehemently deny this.
---Leander is a whore.
----Evidence: He likes to keep Vere around because he's 'pretty to look at', pretty sure he's come onto Mhin with that 'they rejected all his advances except once' line, he has a separate room for his escapades, he let the player, whose practically a complete stranger, feel him up etc. Whore certified.
---Ais is a psychopath.
----He left that roughneck alive, but with 'more broken bones than whole ones' and then pickpocketed him.
---Ais's breath smells like mint, cigarettes, and people. Because he eats them.
----He eats the mints after Vere starts complaining about the smell.
---Kuras is the most mysterious of them all, and his hands are freakishly large.
----Something to do with his back round wink wonk. I have yet to decipher exactly what they mean.
---Mhin's name is officially pronounced 'Meen' because they are, in fact, mean.
----Based on the fact that they just met and they immediately want to start scolding them.
---Vere and Ais are dating, or a situationship at least.
-----Proven by Vere saying that 'He gives as good as he takes, even if he is greedy' and the 'he's big everywhere really'. And Ais talkiing about how his tail bristles when you--- then cuts himself off.
----Kuras's name is pronounced 'cure-ass'.
---For the simple fact that the doctor had to cut away our clothes after he took us to be treated at his clinic.
---Everyone in this damn game is down bad.
----Especially the player.

want to give my two cents on the AI usage in the maestro trailer--
i think seventeen doing a whole concept that is anti-AI is very cool, especially as creatives themselves i think it's good that they're speaking up against it and i hope it gets more ppl talking about the issue. i also understand on a surface level the artistic choice (whether it was made by the members, the mv director, or whoever else), to directly use AI in contrast to real, human-made visuals and music in order to criticize it. i also appreciate that they clearly stated the intention of the use of AI at the beginning of the video
however, although i understand it to an extent, i do not agree with the choice to use AI to critique AI. one of the main ethical concerns with generative AI is that it is trained on other artists' work without their knowledge, consent, or compensation. and even when AI generated images are being used to critique AI, it still does not negate this particular ethical concern
the use of AI to critique also does not negate the fact that this is work that could have been done by an actual artist. i have seen some people argue that it's okay in this context because it's a critique specifically about AI, and it is content that never would have been done by a real artist anyway because it doesn't make sense for the story they're trying to tell. but i disagree. i think you can still tell the exact same story without using AI
and in fact, i would argue that it would make the anti-AI message stronger if they HAD paid an artist to draw/animate the scenes that are supposed to represent AI generated images. wouldn't it just be proof that humans can create images that are just as bad and nonsensical and soulless as AI, but that AI can't replicate the creativity and beauty and basic fucking anatomy that's in human-made art?
it feels very obvious this was not just a way to cut corners and costs like a lot of scummy people are using AI for. ultimately it was a very intentional creative decision, i just personally think it was a very poor one. and even if some ethical considerations were taken into account before this decision, i certainly don't think all of them were. at the very least i feel like the decision undermines the message they want to convey
i would also like to recognize that i myself am not an artist, and i have seen some artists that are totally on board with the use of AI in this specific context, so clearly this is not a topic that is cut and dry. but generative AI is still new, and i think it's important to keep having these conversations
#melia.txt#also want to add that as musicians svt are more directly threatened by AI generated audio than they are by AI generated images#and yet AI generated images is what was used in the video#and i guess the MV director/production company are the ones directly responsible for putting that in there#whether it was their initial idea or not#and they work in a visual medium so perhaps that makes it more 'fair' but idk it just feels like#the commentary is around music. which makes sense. and using human produced music/sound#but then taking advantage of AI images#idk just feels weird#i mean i don't like it either way#like i said in the main post i understand the intention behind the creative decision#and i'm still happy svt are speaking against ai at all i do think overall they're doing a good thing here#i just don't agree with the creative decision they/the production company/whoever made#edit: deleted the part about not boycotting svt over this bc ppl were commenting about boycotting bc of the 🛴 stuff#i meant specifically /I/ am not calling for a boycott because of specifically the ai stuff#was just trying to make a general point that im not making this post bc i want to sabatoge svt or whatever#bc kpop fans love to pull that catd whenever u criticize anything#so yeah just removed that bit bc i dont want ppl getting confused what im talking about#respect ppl boycotting because of scooter/israel stuff but thats not what this post was intended to be about#edit 2: turning off reblogs bc im going to bed and having asomewhat controversial post up is not gonna help me sleep well lol#may or my not turn rb's back on in the morning

If you want to protect yourself from AI, you should learn about AI and what it can and cannot do. Learning about how it is trained is another good thing to learn.

how did Chobits predict the rise of AI girlfriends leading to the alienation of people from each other a couple decades ago, but also had a scene where a guy activates his robotgirl by flipping a switch in her russy (robot pussy)?

When talking about ai, yall need to be careful to not romanticize struggle. Your art does not contain value because you spent 7 hours agonizing through it, it contains value because you created something. You can be proud of your hard work, but activities are not inherently more worthy if you suffer more to do them

Ok let's be real a second. Someone made a comment that I saw that said something along the lines of 'Fanfic isn't that deep it's not Social Commentary, it's just writing' and they couldn't be FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.
First the definition of Social Commentary
Tumblr media
Every song you listen to, every book you read, every art you like is social commentary. When you headcanon a character as POC or Queer, when you base a fic of something that happened to you, the second you begin to write your fanfic you're now producing Social Commentary.
Fandom and Fanfic isn't in a void, it interacts with the world. Anne Rice the writer of Vampire Chronicles (+others) sent Cease & Desist orders to popular fanfic writers. You know how writers put 'I do not own [original work], it belongs to [author].'? That's because of her! How many books now are ex-FanFic! How many fics are written to spite the writers? How many fandoms have raised money for a cause? How many people write to feel seen?
While fanfic IS a fun way to express yourself, whether you see it that way or not, that's not the ONLY thing it's is. it's an act of defiance, it can change how people see the world, it's can actually change the world! Fanfic IS political, it IS social commentary, IS that deep and don't forget that.
