anywhos during the story he's by Winter's side as he works for the Kanic Hotel(s), Winter's main source of money-making. He goes through Winter's many successful suicides (like 3, and every time winter kills himself he switches bodies with Violet, which happened on her end like 6... yeah) and like Hayen found Winter dead one time from when he jumped off the balcony. and so he was like so done and Violet was living separately, so he actually just Goes To Her House, has a drink, and sobs at her table.

he's extremely loyal to Winter for saving him, and he's worked so hard through everything crazy (Winter's horrible parents, every mess from the Royal family, which Violet is from)

not to say Winter and Violet didn't have it bad I think they had it the worst but like. Hayen is literally right there. and he still works for them. he's a simple guy he likes to see people smile and do good work and be happy and likes peace. not (waves hands around messily) everything that happened over the last 140 chapters

Christmas preparation with MHA men

Bakugo

- He isn't much of a "Christmas enjoyer"

- He has better things to take care of! Like his hero work, training, getting better. 

- But seeing how much you like christmas... He is willing to go with it all for your sake.

- Katsuki makes sure to get you THE BEST christmas tree there is. He is going to fight for it if he has to!

- Bakugo helps you with decorating the flat and he complains about it a lot.

- He complains about the amount of stuff you put around the flat and about all the stuff you hang all around BUT he still helps you by lifting you up when some place you try to decorate is too high for you.

- What Katsuki actually loves is helping you with cooking, altho his help is scolding you during this. We all know he is a perfectionist when it comes to cooking, so you are ready for some hard times. It's worth it in the end. 

- If you ask really nicely, he reluctantly puts on a christmas sweater. Just don't tease him about it, if you cross the line the sweater will be ripped into shreds.

- Same goes for Christmas music. One year he blew up the radio because it was playing too much of it! 

- Katsuki tells you that he doesn't want any gift from you, leaving you puzzled about what to get him since he never shows the need to have something. He himself already has few gifts for you. All of them were bought even months ago.

- Christmas with Bakugo are indeed difficult sometimes but in the end he is trying to make it nice for you because he knows it makes you happy.

Kirishima

- He. Loves. Winter!

- The moment the first snow falls Eijiro is glued to the window watching the pretty snowflakes fall upon the city.

- As soon as you are back home, you're pulled out outside to enjoy the fresh snow with your excited boyfriend.

- Winter means Christmas and it means lots of fun! 

- Buying the tree, ornaments and decorations is just so magical for him, all because the shiny, glittery atmosphere it creates.

- The two of you decorate the whole apartament, from floor to ceiling. Of course to make stuff easier for you, he is letting you sit on his shoulder to help you reach high places.

- Cooking is fun but baking is even more fun! Both of you make delicious food and cute gingerbread cookies to enjoy.

- Matching Christmas sweater is a MUST.  Maybe they aren't too pretty but they scream Christmas and that's the most important.

- For Kirishima, the best evening is just the two of you, snuggling up under the warm blanket with hot chocolate and some christmas movie on, bathed in this magical atmosphere and warmth.

- He showers you with many gifts! Even if you asked just for one thing. According to him it's what you deserved.

- Gift from you is treated like the biggest treasure. No matter what you gave him, he doesn't care. It's a gift from you and that's what counts.

Shinso and Eri

- They are an interesting mix. Shinso doesn't care that much but still enjoys Christmas while Eri is EXCITED about them. 

- You can't blame her, she has been celebrating Christmas for just a few years.

- Before she was rescued she never celebrated Christmas.

- Shinso is like a big brother to her, so he is doing his best to make it as great as only possible and you are there to help.

- Your shared apartment is decorated with lots of lights and many cute and pretty Christmas decorations which you also love.

- The tree you buy is big, and of course Eri helps decorate it. Whole fun is finished by Eri being lifted up by Shinso so she can put a star on top of it.

- Baking gingerbread cookies, decorating them is fun. You create a cookie that looks just like Shinso while he decorates his own cookie to look like a cat.

- Later, you help Eri with building the gingerbread house.

- After that it's time to go outside and it's a blast!  Shinso actually looks happy while building the snowman with Eri or while throwing you into a pile of snow.

- As fun as it is, you two have no chance against Eri in a snowball fight. 

- According to Shinso, your snow angel is the prettiest but not prettier than you.

- Back at home it's all about hot chocolate and Christmas songs. You and Eri can sing your hearts out but Shinso won't join it but he will agree to dance with Eri.

- It turns out your boyfriend is a decent dancer and you are recording this as a souvenir.

- When Eri is asleep after all the excitement and fun the two of you spend some alone time just talking and enjoying each others presence.

- Getting gifts for Eri is easy, she clearly voices what she would love to receive, Shinso on the hand is a little tricky.

- He may not seem like it but he is very perceptive and already has gifts prepared for his favorite girls.

Midoriya

- He is excited but he isn't over the top.

- The two of you celebrate in a calm way. Just getting your shared apartment all nice, cozy and full of christmas spirit.

- Izuku loves to visit family during this time, and you visit his mom together, and then visit your family, no matter how big it is.

- Back at home, the two of you bake Christmas cookies and even build a gingerbread house together. It's too pretty to eat.

- Your Christmas tree is full of All Mighta ornaments because of course it is. Izuku collected a lot of them over the years and he bought new ones this year as well.

- Your favorite is the little All Might in Santa's hat.

- Not to mention he owns a few All Might Christmas sweaters. Some are already too small for him so you get the privilege to wear them so you both match! 

- Radio is playing the whole time, blasting the Christmas music. You both even sing together if you know the lyrics.

- Buying him a gift isn't easy since you want to give him something special. He on the other hand already planned what to get you.

- Christmas with Izuku is simply wholesome, full of fun and love.

Hizashi Yamada

- This man loves to celebrate, so Christmas is a great time of the year. (Not to mention that pretty soon after Christmas there is New Year!)

- Christmas music is playing in your flat from the very first day of december and there is lots of singing.

- Your flat is decorated in a pretty flashy way; a lot of glitter and colorful, flashy lights.

- Hizashi loves to randomly grab you and pull you into a dance right in the middle of your living room to whatever song is now playing.

- Celebrating together is fun but what's even more fun? Celebrating with friends.

- You two invite Shota and Nemuri to have a drink and a good chat about something different than just kids, school and work. 

- Of course he is not only all about partying and being loud all the time. Hizashi loves taking you for a walk so the two can take a look around the city and enjoy all the lights and decorations. 

- Not to mention he loves to snuggle up with you on couch or in bed, share earphones and just spend time together.

- Each year you aren't sure what to get for him as a gift but in the end you end up getting something he loves.

- When it comes to him, he is a master at this! No idea how he is doing this.

- You don't mind any of the stuff he does, this makes your Christmas even more special. You couldn't be more perfect than they already are.

Shota Aizawa

- Shota wouldn't celebrate Christmas if it wasn't for you.

- Sure, it's a nice festive time but he prefers to use this free time to get some much deserved rest. It was like this until you showed up in his life.

- When others have big christmas trees that are fully decorated in rich lights and ornaments, he prefers a simple, small fake tree. 

- It's still not safe from the two cats you own but it's not as messy and won't hurt any kitty if they decide to hunt it down. 

- Not to mention the real tree is expensive, takes up the space and in the end it will leave a mess. It's not worth it, according to him.

-  He isn't up to decorating the whole flat but seeing how much you love it, he agrees to put up some more decorations.

- Shota wants to rest and hates cold weather but he agrees to go on a walk with you or help you with Christmas shopping.

- He reluctantly helps you with cooking, even if he prefers to just take a nap.

- There is one thing he actually loves to do, and it's dressing up your two cats. Shota loves seeing them in cute Christmas outfits. His phone is full of pictures of them just looking cute.

- His recipe for Christmas is easy. Tasty supper, exchanging gifts and snuggling on the couch while watching or listening to something. Shota really doesn't need much, all he wants for Christmas is you. 

- You can enjoy your movie/song while he naps holding you close.

- Surprisingly he has no problem with getting you a perfect gift, Shota is really perceptive so it's easy for him to pick something you need or will enjoy.

- When it comes to you getting him a gift it's even easier; a new sleeping bag or cozy blanket. That's all this man needs besides your love.

Mikasa stares at the pregnancy test blankly, head knocked back against the bathroom cabinet of Eren’s apartment. Two little red lines to seal her fate, she should be thrilled.  

She isn’t. 

Contrary to her mother and every other girl in her church, Mikasa feels nothing but dread, cold, inescapable dread and suffocation. Because yes, a baby is cute, a baby is sweet, a baby would be the perfect embodiment of her and Eren’s love. They’d be the picture perfect happy family, the one people see on instagram, and she could be a stay at home mom and do all that ridiculous mom-fluencer stuff she sees.

The entire idea makes Mikasa want to throw up, and she’s not so sure it’s the pregnancy, because she isn’t that far along at all yet. 

She slumps, dropping the test to the floor beside her and blinking back stubborn tears, she wonders if this is God’s plan. Because surely, it must be? She wouldn’t be pregnant if it wasn’t His will. Hell, she’s already gone against the church by using birth control, condoms and the pill. 

So there’s really no other way she could have possibly gotten pregnant, right? Nothing else other than pure divine intervention would have allowed this. 

Mikasa sniffles meekly, a tear sleeping down her cheek despite her attempts not to cry and she wipes it away with her sleeve. Drawing her knees up to her chest, she crumples in on herself because what the fuck is she going to do? She’s not married, not yet at least, not in school yet –will probably have to drop out now actually– and her parents will most certainly withdraw what little support they were willing to provide her. She can hear it now, they’re going to call her sweet little baby a bastard, the church will gossip, her youth group will turn on her, and the pastor will look at her with eyes full of disgust at every turn. The tears flow faster now, slipping down her cheeks freely, and before she realizes it, she’s sobbing alone in Eren’s apartment bathroom, utterly alone. 

And there’s that too, isn’t there, how Eren will react. She doesn’t know, doesn’t want to lose him, but what if it’s too soon? Eren isn’t that old, only 24 and still working his way up in the force, he probably doesn’t want a baby yet either. 

He’s certainly never talked about it, and it has Mikasa tearing up all over again, because she’s going to lose him, and her parents again all at once. And she can’t lose him, she just can’t, she loves him. What had started as pure angsty rebellion had turned into love so quickly she doesn’t even know when it started. But he’s so supportive, hot, and so fucking good for her if she thinks about it, had told her just to fucking move in when her parents had gotten fussy over their break-up. He’d shrugged like it was no big deal, “Don’t worry about rent, Mika, just as long as you sleep in my bed.” Then, he’d left for work with a wink, and Mikasa for the first time in her life had real fucking independence, the very thing she’d been yearning for, begging for when he’d fucked her on that alter. 

And now here she is, about to lose it all again, her shackles renewed by the responsibility of a child and all the pressures that come with being a mom before she’s financially ready or responsible in the slightest. 

There is a click outside and Mikasa inhales sharply, glancing at her watch, because how long has she been in this bathroom moping? It’s 9:00 am on the dot, Eren is home, having just gotten off an overnight shift, and she can already hear him stomping around, seeking her out. “Mikasa,” He calls, and she slaps a hand over her mouth to keep quiet, for what she doesn’t know, he’ll find her eventually. “Baby where are you, I can see your shoes by the door, come out.” She doesn’t, fear paralyzes her, this agony of what to do, to tell him, not to tell him, to just run away and give it up for adoption, show up again in nine months and hope he doesn’t hate her. But Eren is a cop, surely he’d find her no matter where she went? And he does, just like he’d find her if she ran away, sweeping the apartment methodically before coming to the bathroom door, just off his bedroom. 

He knocks, “Miki, what are you doing?” She doesn’t answer, just grabs the pregnancy test, holds it closer as the two positive red lines blur together, tears flowing freely again. It takes Eren one attempt, one fucking shot to jimmy the lock open, and he’s leaning against the door frame like an avenging angel as he looks her over. He’s terrifying, clad in his police uniform, black cargo pants with so many pockets and that tight long sleeve shirt that goes under his body armour. 

He quirks a brow up at her as he notices her tears, eyes scanning her over, and she can pinpoint the exact moment he notices the pregnancy test, his teeth coming down to bite into his lip, his only nervous tic. “So,” He asks casually, “Pregnant?” She nods meekly, a sob working its way up her throat, all she can think to do is apologize, because obviously it’s her fault, “I’m so sorry Eren.” 

She should have never slept with him, never disobeyed God like this, it’s her punishment, and she just spirals, ugly crying in her boyfriend’s bathroom at 8 am on a wednesday. “Oh Miki no, it takes two, okay,” Eren half laughs as he kneels down next to her, tucking a strand of hair out of her eyes. He wipes the tears from her cheeks with his thumbs, cupping her face with more love and affection than she’s ever known in her life, “It was definitely more me if I recall correctly, in the back of my squad car, in the kitchen,” He smirks, looking down at her, “Yesterday morning in the shower.” Mikasa smacks him for that, choking out a laugh, “Stop it, I’m sad right now.” Eren chuckles, sitting down next to her and grabbing her hand with the pregnancy test to look at it himself. “You don’t have to be sad Miki, it doesn’t have to be a big thing you know.” 

She leans into him, her head on his shoulder as she thinks about it, “Eren I’m gonna get huge and fat, it’s definitely gonna be a thing and people are definitely going to notice.” He bumps her with his shoulder lightly, “Nah you’d be cute pregnant, and fuck,” He groans as if he’s thinking about it, “Your tits would definitely get even better.” Mikasa gasps, smacking his arm again, and before she can stop him he’s going in for a squeeze that has her yelping because yeah, she’s already a little more sensitive. He smirks, more smug than he has any right to be in this situation, ten minutes ago she was crying her eyes out. 

“So does this mean you want it, then, that you’ll support me?” Mikasa asks hopefully and Eren squeezes her thigh, looking down at her with more intensity than she knew him capable of, “Mikasa of course I’ll support you in whatever you decide to do, this would be my kid too.” He pauses and Mikasa waits, looking up at him earnestly, ready to accept whatever else he has to say, because he’s Eren and he so obviously loves her. “I know it’s a little taboo in the church community, but have you thought about getting an abortion?” Mikasa cracks, heaving out a great sob, and before she knows it she’s in Eren’s lap with him shushing her as she whispers all her fears into his neck, “You don’t want it, you’re lying you just- you just want to appease me and –” “Mikasa,” Eren kisses his way up her neck, voice right at her ear, “I’m not lying, but look at me.” He cups her chin roughly, tilting her head up so she’s forced to look into those pretty green eyes, “Baby you’re in school, you haven’t even started yet, and I’ve heard you, fuck baby I’ve heard you talk about school so many times and how much you want to be a nurse.” He leans down, so their foreheads touch, and he leans into her, “And as much as I’d love to see you pregnant, how fucking pretty you’d be, cute as hell waddling around my house knocked up with my fucking kid, it would also suck a lot because I know Mikasa that you’d be miserable, would be delaying your dreams for several years at the very fucking least and I could never ask you to do that.” Mikasa inhales shakily, relaxing into him now, the hand on her thigh, the other at the nape of her neck, how warm and solid he is against her, Eren. 

She tilts her head up for a kiss, something soft, chaste, comfort. 

He kisses her softly, all gentle affection, his hand rubbing over her thigh to keep her calm and when she pulls back she’s calmer, more stable in his arms. 

“Is it allowed?” She whispers, almost nervously, afraid she’ll be shot down by the universe at the mere suggestion. Eren laughs, his hand drifting up to her hip to tug her closer in his lap, “Of course it’s allowed Mikasa, no one has to know we have free health care you know, we’ll just you know, schedule you an appointment, I don’t think it’s that hard.” “Really?” she mumbles, “Just like that?” “I think so, I mean obviously I haven’t had one, but I don’t think it’ll be that difficult, we can call in a minute.”

“Okay,” she mumbles and Eren kisses her again, nipping her cheek as he demands her attention, “But I want to know you’re doing it for you, not because of me or anything else, this has to be your decision Mikasa and I’m just along for the ride.” She sighs, “I think you’re right, I just didn’t want to be the one to say it, but before you got here all I could think about was how much it was going to fuck up my life.” Eren gasps, and she looks up, suddenly afraid, does he think she’s disgusting, a worthless human being because of it? His eyes are alight with amusement, “You swore, what a naughty little church girl you are.” 

She smacks him and violently, which has him cackling, and he uses his leverage to go in for another kiss, which she accepts gratefully. “As long as it’s your decision Mikasa, I don’t care, hell I kind of agree, I’m not sure if I’d be a great dad right now, I’m too selfish. I wanna keep you to myself for as long as I can.” Mikasa laughs, “Then maybe we’d better start using better protection.” “Yeah, we’re also scheduling you for an IUD appointment, because fuck are you bad at taking those pills.” She winces, “I took it this morning.” Eren looks at her in disbelief, “Miki you’re already pregnant.” “Well, I tried not to be,” She tells him poutily and Eren pinches her waist, “You did a shit job.” “We just agreed it was your fault!” 

Eren smiles deviously, “Yeah it is, and it’s about to be my fault again.”

OMG, I should have clarified this better: we have been playing this campaign for 1.5 years - the time passed for Patataj is only about 2 months and that's about the time that they're dating, or, well, know each other at least.

Let me tell you chronologically how he ended up in a relationship with Rahadin (this is LONG and has spoilers for CoS so beware):

Rahadin was the first person Patataj met after he woke up in Barovia (he got dragged in through a dream by, as we would later learn, the Abbot, who was looking for sun god support in his endeavor to fix the curse (of Strahd) and accidentally grabbed Patataj over Senna).

Rahadin was there to check out the newcomers mostly (and because my GM was scared of combat balance haha) and they went through the death house experience together. For Rahadin this meant nothing much, but for Patataj that's an intense bonding experience (also they were holding hands for most of it, as Patataj was the only one without darkvision).

After they made it out of the death house, Rahadin disappeared, but Patataj took up the sending spell on his level up a few days later and thus was able to send Rahadin little messages. That's how he was able to secure a meeting with him as well. That meeting went rather poorly, but he managed to not get killed. You must also know that by this time, Rahadin just seemed like a sulky, shy dusk elf to Patataj. Someone who would be funny to make flustered and drag out of their shell a little. Not much else. He hasn't really seen him do damage or anything.

He does start to ask random people he meets about Rahadin though and then slowly realized that, well, he does not seem to be a terribly well liked guy. Kasimir (the leader of the few surviving dusk elves) tells him to stay away from him, but Patataj doesn't quite know why, because he gets along quite well with him.

So after a few days (and after the party killed the Aboleth in the lake) he asks Rahadin for a second date to make up for the first one and to his surprise, Rahadin agreed.

They have like a romantic little boat ride and Rahadin even brings a scroll for Pataj so he can walk on water (because he mentioned missing being able to run in the open desert and the lake is...pretty big and the next best option). Of course Patataj goes for a run but in the end he can't just let Rahadin sit all alone in the boat so he offers him a ride.

And that's how this picture happened ahaha. YES, IT WAS ACTUALLY A THING not a dream or anything - I know!! Wild!

Centaurs don't just offer someone to sit on them willy-nilly (if at all), so in the end Patataj confesses to Rahadin that he caught feelings. He's a bard after all and centaur hearts beat fast.

Of course for Rahadin it's way too soon to reciprocate such feelings the same way (I mean, they knew each other for....two weeks at this point, maybe one? And he's like 500 years old. Them centaur hearts be moving in hyperspeed to him). But he still admits a certain fondness and they actually do kiss when Patataj asks for one.

Some time passes, Patataj keeps sending those sending messages and they interact like that every day. Just small things, as sendings have a limit of 25 words ahaha.

Eventually, Strahd invites the party for dinner, as he does. Everyone is low key terrified, but Patataj is excited to meet Rahadin again....and it goes well. Our warlock pisses Strahd off majorly because he continuously keeps the appearance of the girl Strahd is into, but Patataj is having a great time, even winning a bard-off against Escher.

Patataj ends up spending some of the night with Strahd, ending in him offering Strahd his blood (and I do not think he was even charmed. We're all still confused as well. Strahd just was very good with words and made Patataj feel sad for him okay?). Rahadin ends up taking care of Patataj for the rest of the night and it all gets very emotional, they exchange gifts, they kiss more, Rahadin starts to open up a little about his past and other personal things.

No, nothing besides kissing happening - but hey, progress.

They are mostly back to sending messages and short meetings for most of the campaign then. This goes on for months in real time you know haha. It does sometimes skew with my perception how much time actually passes.

At some point Patataj manages to convince Rahadin to join a little party at the tavern in Vallaki and it's all very cute. They play like, throwing knives and never have I ever and it's really stupid but fun....thanks to probably the alcohol Rahadin does actually end up comfortable enough to do ....more than kissing that night, too. And that is actually also the last night they managed to spend together until now.

Meanwhile the campaign goes on, we go to Krezk like, twice, kill the Abbot, we do the Yester hill battle, defend Vallaki (where Rahadin was extremely worried). In Vallaki there was also one instance where Patataj almost died and sent some final words type of message to Rahadin and boy, Rahadin was UPSET about it. Mostly mad because the message did not include Patatajs whereabouts and such and it took him longer to find him. He was probably also upset that the whole thing made him so scared in the first place haha. Rahadin is not used to care about anything other than Strahd and maybe Anastrasia (and since they're both vampires, they die far less easy, so not much to worry there).

But yeah, this is how you manage to date Rahadin in Curse of Strahd: You need a GM who puts him in the campaign early enough and PERSISTENCE. It's not easy to make Rahadin care, but once he does, he's very loyal and your chances of survival become very good actually ('You wouldn't want to hurt Rahadins mate' worked very well with the werewolves for example lol) - but also it can be a little terrifying at times. Patataj is trying to come to terms with the fact that all the protection benefit he gets out of this also means that it is very likely that he will end up as a vampire in the end. Also there is no turning back. Rahadin is very unforgiving and I'm sure if Patataj would break his heart, Rahadin would slit his throat, because that's just how he deals with his problems. There is also still a chance Rahadin might follow Strahd's orders to kill Patataj despite his own feelings. It's 500 years vs a few weeks/months after all.

But I do think Rahadins feelings are genuine. He says the most romantic shit sometimes and he really was very supportive in the last session (at least as much as you could expect Rahadin to be). It was actually the first time he said 'I love you' in return! MORE PROGRESS!

And I also do think he doesn't just want to use Patataj for personal gain. He's not a very....scheming guy. Not that Patataj would care either way. He'd do almost anything for Rahadin at this point, aside of things that go against his morals of course. It's quite funny, really. Patataj knows of all the terrible things Rahadin has done by now, but he kind of shoves it aside under 'well he did it under Strahd's orders, he wouldn't have done it otherwise' because he just can't fathom Rahadin is THAT bad/uncaring, since to HIM he is extremely gentle and sweet, even if sometimes a little struggling with showing emotions. Love makes blind, I swear.

But I'm rambling. I hope they get a happy ending. At least Patataj would deserve one after everything (all the suffering and pain of people around him and his powerlessness to help are getting to him), but it IS Curse of Strahd and who knows what will happen. Even at the best outcome, he will have to kill some if not most of Rahadins 'family', in the worst outcome, Rahadin kills him. In the most likely, he ends up a vampire in Strahd's castle, never to see sunlight again.

France: François is like an old, barn cat in that he’s done his work and now believes that he’s owed something easy. His observant Cher decided that wasn’t how it was going to which sly tricks and quick getaways. When the pattern repeats itself for the fifth time, François no longer puts his physical energy into the chase. Relying on the city’s cameras François begins to lay a series of snares. Each one is layered like hair-thin threads, so small that even Cher’s power of perception cannot catch them all. With each pulled off, two have gone unnoticed, until their combined power is stronger than steel cables. Leading to an easy capture for François.

America: A man with a temper like Allen’s doesn’t do well with an observant doll. Similar to what would happen with a professor darling, each escape would be like a tick on a detonation clock. The closer to zero that hands get, the more likely Allen is to become drastic, especially once his pride becomes damaged. His final tactic is the same no matter what, he or allow those around you to die.

Canada: Matt’s work with animals sets him up well with an observant darling. Both rely on their keen sense of awareness to survive in this world and in response, Matt first views each false trail he’s led down as just that. Someone struggling to survive. Unlike the others that chose more physically damaging methods, he doubles down on ways to build reliance on himself. Maple’s car breaks down or her window shatters, Matt makes sure that he’s the one that fixes it. It doesn’t matter if he’s punching a man’s lights out to take their uniform or finding Maple on the side of the road, he’ll be the one to do the repair. Sadly, if his gentle methods fail, then Matt will become harsh. Repairs are replaced with destruction, and gentle herding turns into a bruising grip on her forearm. This game won’t last forever, because at some point he will run her down. It will only take one slip, and she’s doomed.

England: Oliver would watch as Dearie slipped out of his fingers the first time. Tutting to himself as he replayed the days leading up to his failure. Mumbling about the notes left for him by his rabbits, when one thing pops back up in his mind. Dearie always could tell when she was being watched, meaning she was very observant. Like Allen, it’s a similar song to the Professor. He thinks it's cute until it's not. Her avoidance of his ‘gifts’ and duty to remain professional with him rubs Oliver wrong. By the game’s end, a deal is made with a creature of her nightmares. Dearie’s shrill screams show that her punishment is underway, and her silence means she’s almost in his arms.  

Russia: Just like Oliver and Allen, Viktor has also dealt with a professor situation, and she was just as observant. He will not enjoy being outmaneuvered but does take note of what he learns. Slowly creating the perfect tactic to ensure no escape. As the plan commences and his darling runs, swerving like a serpent between the trees as his men give chase. All the while Viktor remains hidden and watches from strategically placed cameras like a wolverine in the trees. Waiting for his darling to sprint past in fear, only to be ambushed. Dragging into his stone chest, stuck forever with a blizzard-like man.

China: Centuries of success can only be achieved by observation. As she knew Jin was on her tail, so did he know Qin had that stubborn, little trait. For a while, Jin will allow her to feel as though he’s been outplayed. Repeatedly allowing her to escape and feel safe, only to repeat the cycle within a matter of hours. It takes a toll on her mental health as her observant nature allows her no rest due to the cycle he had forced her into and the unknown amount of people working under him. As her world became shaky from the lack of sleep and paranoia, her once beneficial trait worsens it. Until the world becomes dark and Jin can take his sleeping beauty home.

Romania: As a hunter, Nicodim would enjoy a perceptive lover. Something about the constant vigilance reminds him of a small creature. A simple, rabbit that thinks as long as its predator is in sight and several feet away that the danger has been managed. Though in reality, Nic is working to change the wide meadow to a dark, city alley. Eventually, she’ll be cornered and Nicodim will capture his prize, eager to dissect every side of his rabbit.

Poland: Piotr is already tired enough and a darlin of this caliber makes him more so. From the constant vigilance to the complex escape plans, this man feels the wariness from those actions deep in his bones as he slowly follows like a true persistent predator. As the chase progresses and her decisions to escape become more often, Piotr becomes annoyed. That annoyance quickly turns into irritation and with that comes aggression. Just like a frog in a pot, his harsher tactics of capture start off pretty soft with pitfalls, snares, and herding by his men. The passage of time brings with it crueler methods; rusty bear traps, home invasions, and the destruction of anything that makes her independent. If she’s perceptive enough to dodge even all of this, then Piotr’s final option is to appeal to his boss for a legal summons. At that point there is no way out, she’s finally cornered and captured. Forever stuck in his cold house, sleeping with the one source of constant warmth, Piotr.

Ok you mentioned Alfred growing the coffee in a greenhouse by the shed and now I Must Know. (Mainly also because Alfred strikes me mainly as a tea drinker, and only resorting to coffee when there's a big bad and he's the only one available to run back end support) What does Alfred think of the coffee consumption of the Bats and Birds and Co.?

if you think of Alfred as going through Actual Butler School, as in many of his backstories, then he might well become enamored of coffee due to the elaborate (but convenient) preparations, cute servingware, and general relaxation of the social environments that serve someone a nice coffee. if you think of him going through the military first, it's pretty likely he would form an extreme emotional reliance on ration coffee to get him through the day.

personally, I think of Alfred as fae. (I mean how else are the entire grounds AND the entire house AND the entire Batcave constantly maintained in such pristine condition when we haven't seen any other employees or services in decades??) which means when he was young he didn't do any of those things, and instead it's a quirky human custom he picked up somewhere along the way. well before Bruce, but tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. are all equally esoteric to him. (cider and lemonade are probably much more natural.) but as a brownie, he enjoys putting cream in any drinks he can.

(this is how he can fit acres and acres of coffee in optimal growing conditions in a small room off the house. and why it never wilts or gets sick or gets eaten by wildlife. or gets found out.)

so Alfred really enjoys both tea and coffee (and hot cocoa on cold days or with younger members of the family) as a social ritual, and as a soothing way of caring for his family. there are so many steps that you just prepare and prepare, and don't have to stop to think, which keeps him from worrying overly much. there's also the fact that his book club tends to serve tea (or wine), and his cards and games club tends to serve coffee (or beer). he drinks whatever anyone else is drinking. he likes bonding that way.

with his charges, tea tends to be a way to push fluids when they're sick (and he's banned them from coffee). so sometimes tea makes him worry when he needn't. but it's also a nice bedtime drink when people are having trouble falling asleep, but only Claire is willing to accept that regularly, and only Duke when he knows he's having trouble falling asleep. (Luke comes by occasionally and is happy to have chamomile, which is a breath of fresh air.) Damian is the only one willing to sit down to tea with him, altho Jason used to take him to high tea if they were serving the right little sandwiches and cakes. (he might still do it but Alfred hasn't asked.) Cass really enjoyed high tea the one time they did it, and then asked if the tea might be replaced with coffee for an even better experience. Damian enjoys all sorts of tea ceremonies, thankfully.

coffee doesn't mean much by itself. he gets the need for caffeine, and it doesn't make him worry the way he did for a time, when he first discovered it was A Chemical, and hadn't yet studied what chemicals were, and that everything is a chemical, really. he likes it because it's warm, which makes him feel like he's taking care of people, and because there are steps involved, which makes it a Real Food in the way soda and energy drinks aren't. so he refills mugs and prepares thermoses and keeps the coffeepot always full. and he knows all the preferences of everyone he's ever met, because that's his magic power, and he loves using it for coffee, which makes people happy, whether they're family or guests.

he also does the tea and coffee services for any event he can get away with because then he gets to put Things in Places and make them all shiny and reflective.

and it’s a good thing that mike likes will’s both hypostasis. i like that they r still first of all friends with common interests and only then fools in love.

i also love that mike is not a complete idiot. the fact that he realized that will is a spiderman almost immediately (here he figured out who’s will faster than he understands that he likes guys in some fics). and the fact that he didn’t kiss him in a costume.

mike wheeler extolled his partners all his life in order to eventually fall in love with a superhero. he’s a loser but he’s my loser.

i love that mike wanted to make things right so he brought will flowers. and he wanted to like wait until their real date to kiss him 🥺 and why is will surprised that mike knows?? honey not that you hid it very well.

and the upside down kiss! it’s must be so inconvenient but it’s so iconic.

I haven't seen the BBC Musketeers show, partially because I've gotten into the book rrecently and also because I'm disappointed in reading about their incarnation of Rochefort. How is the show?

I liked how the book version of Rochefort was like a rival you'd see in a shonen; over confident older guy that frequently fights the younger protagonist in the same fighting style, follows the same code of honor, works for the villains but isn't too evil, and ultimately becomes friends with the protagonist after several times.

I wouldn't be surprised if at least some anime antagonists are directly based on Rochefort, Japan does have a fanbase for classic France literature.

I would say on the whole the show is pretty good! I feel like s1 is fantastic and a must watch, s2 is decent and mostly enjoyable, and s3 I don’t remember much about beyond disappointment. Costumes are great, it’s charming and funny and it’s a lovely take, for most part. S1 especially has the romp and adventure that’s so prominent in the books.

s1

-totally captures a swashbuckling feeling! great fun! good dynamics between the four! they’re all such loveable musketeers! you really feel the bonds for aramis & porthos as a loveable duo, athos & d’artagnan as old/young contrast, but them as a group and various combinations remains adorable to the end.

-they cast howard charles as porthos, and give an episode to his backstory, which i liked a lot, because it gave a really good historical explanation to having moc musketeers.

-i think they do right by constance/d’artagnan, and constance in general, making her a more fleshed out character, who lives to the end. tbh i was more won over by the ship in s2, but i think s1 was… fine for them, even if I’m pretty meh on how they handled her husband. don’t love it but it’s not especially a great role, not particularly likeable but at least he’s not oblivious to his wife having an affair. (i don’t think he found out in the book but… i could be wrong?)

-love athos. surly, alcoholic, aloof. his actor tom burke is perfect starting off indifferent to slowly regaining his former self, and how d’artagnan is the push he needs, breathing new life into him that continues in s2… and prolly s3.

-i think santiago cabrera is great as aramis, and how they explain how a spaniard is a musketeer. i think there’s an episode about the french-spanish war? it’s an episode about his backstory that features jj feild, who i adore.

-luke pasqualino surprisingly good as d’artagnan??? not quite as hot tempered, but still feisty and youthful and endearing in enthusiasm, that i enjoyed his portrayal a lot!

-maime mccoy as milady. wonderful! s1, she mysteriously appears and disappears in smoke constantly. the show is more sympathetic to her than the book, tho, but i’m super into the passionate lovers who can’t move on/kill each other/bound by their past, in s1&2. and i think for most part, the portrayal is satisfying, even if she’s not AS sociopathic, richelieu does tell her off for killing TOO much.

-peter capaldi as richelieu is amazing. it’s a great and nuanced performance that makes me wish he stayed on—altho maybe the plan was always one season, idk! but he’s riveting and i love him, and at his best here.

-there’s an episode where the musketeers hustle for money, in which porthos woos a widow. made me surprisingly happy because they do that in the book too! and it being handled here was good? (he actually stays with the widow all three seasons which is cute tho.)

-love the captain of the musketeers! treville is delightfully grumpy and i enjoy his ever growing role throughout the seasons!

cons:

-don’t particularly like queen anne/aramis getting a romance tbh. as hilarious as it is to have athos snidely whisper “you slept with the queeeeeeeen!” iconic, tbh, how it continues in s2-3, with aramis being the father of the dauphin… meh.

-tbh don’t love aramis sleeping with the lady that richelieu is seeing? it’s only a pilot issue, i think, and i get that aramis is a womanizer, but. meh.

-d’artagnan dad dies in the pilot. one day there’ll be a version where he’s fine and his son writes him letters, but… not this version.

-the king. is. probably accurately portrayed stupidly. i think his actor is very good, in all honesty. but the character is a lil infuriating to watch bc of how he blindly obeys and is fooled by people and has temper tantrums. might be more of a s2 issue, where he starts dating milady and believing rochefort, but. hmm, elements are probably here too.

s2

-it’s mostly good? the chemistry of the musketeers remains perfect, tho it departs from the book more so.

-love the messiness of athos/milady/king louis. milady sticking around makes things complicated for these two, but i’m so into it, bc yeah, athos/milady are clearly not over each other.

cons:

-rochefort. god i was thrilled initially bc a) marc warren, yay! b) NO EYEPATCH!!! (christopher lee is a wonderful rochefort but that movie starts the trend of rochefort having an eyepatch and… i hate it actually…) But then, he’s creepy obsessed with Queen Anne, and they give him an eyepatch in the final episode anyway, and his downfall is disappointing and pitiful tbh. He’s just so one note and a waste of an actor, that, yeah, I’m disappointed by it. I will say Anne saying “not once have I thought of you” was pretty neat tho, since they knew each other when they were younger, and she was initially happy to see him again.

-the continuation of the anne/aramis storyline bc she’s pregnant with his child… don’t particularly love that, and how aramis is dating the caretaker of his son once the dauphin is born? she dies, predictably. (actually the dauphin might have been born in s1, and s2 might have had a timeskip, my memory is pretty hazy since it’s been years.)

s3:

uh. everyone gets a happily ever after? there’s a time skip. athos starts dating sylvie, introduced in s3. they’re… fine.

-i think the season could have been good because there are two villains, one played by rupert everett as maquis de feron, who could have been interesting, and i think i read has some historical basis? but they do very little with him in the end. and then there’s grimaud. who was just very boring and pointless.

-milady is brought back for one episode, mainly bc the actress was pregnant so had less time to shoot. where she and athos cut ties for good, and he’s now in love with sylvie and he’s happy, and… yeah. not the way i wanted it to go, but c’est la vie.

-if you’re invested in constance/d’artagnan, anne/aramis, porthos/the widow, athos/sylvie, they all live happily.

tldr, i liked it initially, how it incorporated other historical elements, didn’t mind the divergences so much in s2, but i checked out a lot in s3.

but the camaraderie between the musketeers is cute, so I would still recommend s1-2, despite the flaws, and if you really want to finish the story, s3, but I wasn’t especially a fan of it.

re: book!rochefort. right??? he and d’artagnan deciding to be friends was adorable and I was delighted in Twenty Years Later, at their reunion!!! Why don’t adaptations include this instead of having Rochefort killed off??? >_<

ahaha, probably! There’s the anime dogtagnan, right? They do like Lupin a lot! I loved anime les mis! and anime gankutsuo was a good count of monte cristo for most part. altho now I do want examples of a similar Rochefort & D’Artagnan friendship in anime, bc it’s super cute, and R&D can’t be the only time that happens! i’ll try and be on the lookout for some similar dynamics bc it’s cute.

well i'm back in mntrl city. thing thing, doing my thing. today - apt. then, drawing, i must drawwwwww on my mind: BC ! i suppose i ought to chronicle what all happened. Yesterday, i woke up, chatting to jenny, then to the beach! but first we had to stop and get a couple drinks. the cashier was so nice to us, "i love your outfits. you are some cute girls." ~ in vancouver i feel so very myself, as an outcast, there are "normal" adults everywhere, and then there's just me, always awkward on the outside looking in. how strange to be an artist in an expensive place like vancouver, there's no way i make the median rent of 2500 or however it is. so i stand out. i make it some how - with the abundance of resources around me, people help. mother and i - her with vegetables in abundance. people do help, and i feel lifted by my community. there seems to always be the man lurking in the shadows. irate building managers, stckler park rangers, but somehow we escape unscathed. the man is out there- they cannot harm who i am. yet everywhere life surprises me. I sat next to a man on the airplane who was so chatty and high on summer life. he crossed my mind as a potential actual candidate for partner, but alas he doesn't have the artistic sensibility about things - altho the politics were great, i had to stop him at "i had the most insane sexual experience of my life" at shambhala. i do not care. ! i said stop right there. he really wants me to want him to come to montreal. why so he can grace me with his dick? i do not want his dickin down. and be burdened with a random stinky guy. thanks for the follow tho and for lending me your sweater on the plane. bye bye. well i'm here in mtl to say hello. not to be of it- but rather just to dip my toes in it. then ill go back again. home is where the heart is - and my heart chakra goes massive. it blooms there in the nature. here i will feed it urbanity & studies. i will keep myself compact and observe, tolerate, but not get excited unless something excites me. im not sure there is anyone to excite me here, as they do not have the spark of the natural imbued in them. i know myself better. i bloomed in qathet. i bloomed in lynn canyon. i bloomed in the ocean. i bloomed i bloomed. staying true to my rhythms, my instincts, the compass of my instincts never leads me astray. <3 finish and go back !!!!

1. The thing that got you hooked on hockey

STORY TIME: i moved to canada, just outside of Hockey Capital (Toronto) when I was 9 years old (am 23 rn). so you'd think that i'd have been into hockey since i moved, right, considering that i was surrounded by leafs fans and like a good chunk of guys in my classes growing up were hockey boys?

DEAD WRONG.

all the guys ever cared about are the stats. so i wasn't too too interested in hockey. but i somehow absorb a lil too much info about hockey and the leafs in general but i never got /into/ the sport until my best friend lucy got into hockey like in february/march 2023. the irony is that lucy is from the uk and that's who got me into hockey: not any of the hockey boys I grew up having a crush on (bold of my family and friends to assume i got into hockey to impress a guy lol), not any of the hockey boys I went to high school with and was on good terms with. but my British friend (she’s a real one for it). And Tbf it’s because she talked more about the vibes first before she went into talking about the stats. im not a math person so the stats were like flying over my head. but she sends me videos of their interviews and game highlights and talks about them and i'm like... aight okay let me give this hockey thing a chance.

ngl i've been eyeing the hischier premier heritage jersey... either that or the black and white jersey one, though i'm leaning more towards the first one.

who else but nico hischier? tbh i can't even remember how i first heard about him. but i swear it must be all the gif sets i kept seeing when i started following more and more hockey blogs around april/may 2023? then i watched a few of his interviews and was endeared; thought he was cute and a good captain. but what REALLY sold me was when i found out that his birthday is on january 4, which is two days before mine. i was like "oh cool, a fellow capricorn" bc at that point, i'm pretty sure all the hockey players i keep seeing on my dash had birthdays in april and may, so to see a capricorn hockey player i was like... okay okay. so that's also the story behind my tag for him which is "my cap(tain) and fellow cap(ricorn) <3" if anyone was ever curious. then i read up on him; found out he was drafted first overall in 2017 and i just really liked his vibes as a captain and a player, and decided "yep, that's my guy".

5. A pairing that deserves more fic

ooh this is hard but ngl... kailer yamamoto x connor mcdavid. HEAR ME OUT: yes, i know yamo is no longer with the oilers (rip but he seems happier and less stressed out in seattle, so go have fun, king <3) but when i discovered this pairing when i was reading rpf, i was confused at first but i was VIBING! there was this fic i read on ao3 and it hasn't been updated but the premise was that kailer was a single dad, but no one on the team knows except for like one other person. and connor only finds out that kailer's got a kid when he goes into kailer's apartment to drag him to a team bonding. oof, can't wait to read more tbh. but the fic that really sold me on the pairing was connor having a crush on kailer, who had no idea connor was into men (he thought connor and lauren were dating, when they were really just besties) and i was HERE FOR IT.

tl;dr: kailer x connor will be my rarepair that needs more fics.

6. Your favourite on-ice moment

has to be when jack tackles aho back during the playoffs. this lived rent-free in my brain and i was like.... huh... maybe i should check out the new jersey devils if they got a guy who tackles people like this.

The thing is, Hans Brauer seems like the kind of guy to be hosting the game, not playing it, judging by his character.  & then he shoves castle into the wall very realistically. Caldwell also seemed very genuine when running away from the assassin. He has no idea the gun is real! He’s a great roleplayer tbh But is it really how the game works that he’s going to get a phone call telling him to leave? Is it like “You lost the game & this is basically taking you back to your last checkpoint” or smth? Castle is enamoured. I’m assuming you called Jordan Shaw? (& Agent Gray?)
