I've put this in the tags of a previous reblog but feel like it deserves its own post so PSA to tall people: your short friends likely have shorter legs than you and therefore physically can't walk as fast as you without exerting way more effort, they're not going slow on purpose or exaggerating/joking when they say they're more tired than you after an outing. your casual stroll is a speedwalk for them and doing that for extended periods of time is exhausting. also you will lose them in crowds way less if you make a conscious effort to match their pace rather than just assuming theyll keep up

⌦ male!reader (he/him)
⌦ mentions ; cheating (atsumu’s), angst to fluff (sakusa)
⌦ they all have different scenarios, so its best to check out the first post for a little more context.
A/N: never expected to make a part two, but i guess the feedback said otherwise. its been awhile since ive written anything, so i may be rusty, disregard mistakes too please-
𝙽𝙾𝚃𝙴 ; this is queued. i am still on my hiatus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝙳𝚊𝚒𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚞:
→ ever since the argument, you had left. taking majority of what was yours and what you could in the quickest of matters. you and Daishou barely talked or interact within those days. often dead silence within the shared home... or rather what was shared.
→ it was quite suffocating as well, leaving each other after a long relationship you both committed to. but you had a gut feeling it would end unfortunately.
→ Daishou had seen you leave for the last time past the front door. only exchanging a blunt “bye.” before disappearing behind the solid door. he really hoped this was all lies and games, but it wasn’t. he knew this was real, he knew this will be his reality. without you. the fading steps signaled that you were not gonna look back.
→ since then, he hasn’t heard of you since. he hasn’t seen your name around social media and only the bittersweet memories of when his friends would bring you up came into mind.
→ but it was like, you erased him from your world. and yet Daishou still held tight of the cut thread that lead to you. the other end laying flat onto the floor as the other end you had, disappeared as a whole. a huge gap between you both.
→ him being in denial, he kept mainly to himself.
→ the old shared space felt empty. drastically different every time he would come home. he would hear your welcoming voice that made his whole body so warm and fuzzy, but now, the silence was painful and cold as he stepped inside his so called ‘home’. he didn’t know why...
→ but he really wanted you back. he wanted to see your face no matter when he came home. he missed your whole presence. he yearned for something that he could’ve kept if he would just shut up.
→ Daishou didn’t expect to see you here. at the same party he would be invited to, he watched you from the second floor that had the view of the merged rooms of the living room and kitchen. seeing you laugh and smile with two other friends who you stumbled upon, the sight made his heart sting.
→ a sharp stab straight through his chest, only thinking if he could be the reason for that smile. that laughter. oh he envied it.
→ he tried to avert his thoughts away before he heard some whistles and calling of names, to see your figure slip away with someone else from the crowd.
→ watching you both from his higher position, he noticed your hands intertwined with the other. his own hand slightly clenching the daring drink he held, the other grasping the rail tighter the longer he watched.
→ Daishou’s eyes soon looked up at your face. the expression you had made him feel conflicted.
→ the wide pure smile you had accompanied with the deep flush, made him feel that oh so familiar feeling. but knowing he wasn’t the cause of it pained him.
→ although, seeing you with someone deserving made him feel at ease. but the stabbing dagger in his heart laid there still, only reminding him that he could’ve been that better person.
Tumblr media
𝙰𝚝𝚜𝚞𝚖𝚞:
→ after the confrontation, you and Atsumu had split ways of course. it was difficult to move on and realize the situation at hand, to the both of you.
→ seeing where your stuff would be gone in the shared space made it surprisingly empty and less... alive. the whole place felt dead and empty, like a home left abruptly without an obvious reason of why.
→ but Atsumu knew why, and it began to nag at him. it made him feel so guilty to do that to you. to him, you were so pure, kind, and oh so nice. he could go on about your looks too, he really could. but every thought of you made his mind so hazy and clouded with distraught.
→ why did he cheat? you were loyal to him- if only he could be too.
→ its been a couple years since then, it was tough for Atsumu. he had cut ties for who he was cheating with, regretting what he did and in hopes to regain you back before- didn’t obviously work. so now he stayed alone in the home that practically mocked him of his decision.
→ he was quite surprised Atsumu wasn’t blocked by you throughout social media etc. but he didn’t dare to strike a conversation and laid idle as he saw you occasionally appear on his feed.
→ seeing you mention being in relationship but only giving vague hints and images, truly never revealing who to your followers.
→ sighing as he slipped his phone into his pocket, he didn’t want to think about it all, so he decided to pay a visit to Osamu at his restaurant. to his twin’s dismay.
→ arriving there fairly quickly he waved at his brother who was behind the counter cleaning up for the night, seeing his twin wave back slightly before continuing on whatever he was doing.
→ Atsumu couldn’t help but noticed the metallic object that wrapped around Osamu’s ring finger.
→ “..’Samu? What’s on yer’ hand?”
→ “Oh- ya noticed already. I got engaged not so long ago, or recently.”
→ curiosity jabbing at the blonde made him eagerly question again.
→ “I- What?? By who!? ‘Samu ya didn’t even tell me you were in a relationship!” Atsumu could only just whine, knowing his brother didn’t share with him about his personal life after highschool.
→ “Shut up ‘Tsumu.. Don’t be so loud in my restaurant or I’ll kick yer ass out of here!”
→ “..but do you still wanna know?”
→ Osamu seeing his twin nod with anticipation made him sigh, knowing this wouldn’t end too well. “Well.. me and [Name] are getting married. Just got engaged with him two days ago.”
→ “..[Name]..?” Atsumu could only repeat the familiar name, his voice faint but still audible to his brother’s ears.
→ he couldn’t believe it. his brother... and..
→ “W-well-! That’s.. nice for both of ya, haha..” the blonde tried to played off, hoping that the wavering of his voice didn’t catch his attention but, Osamu already knew, simply playing along as the conversation continued and slowly shifted off to something else.
→ Atsumu had left the place rather quickly than he originally intended to stay- but he didn’t expect it. he didn’t expect you being engaged with his twin, eventually knowing you’ll see each other soon.
→ he didn’t know how to feel about this. he was happy for both of you- but- he wasn’t over you. although it has been more than two years, he wasn’t. he missed you, he yearned to see you again. he wanted to hear your laughter and giggles, your voice overall. he wanted to see you smile, he wanted to see your handsome face.
→  he wanted... you back. but he knows he can’t have you. not anymore.
Tumblr media
𝚂𝚊𝚔𝚞𝚜𝚊:
→ when you left passed the front door, you hadn’t come back after a few minutes. and it was.. raining. pretty badly.
→ having worry built up in his stomach that soon turned into a mixture of anxiety made him feel uneasy, overthinking the situation and words he said to you earlier made him choke on his actions.
→ snapping out of the trance, he rushed to go grab a coat to slip on. retrieving his phone. hurrying out the front door hoping to find you haven’t gotten too far already, almost slipping down some steps of the apartment building on the way to find you.
→ the rushing anxiety continue to flow through him, making his movements more loose and clumsy as he ran off to find you. calling out your name aimlessly of the darkened rainy streets. not caring that his curls were getting soaked in the pounding rain, he just wanted to find you.
→ to find you and keep you safe.
→ Sakusa’s heart kept increasing every moment he didn’t see you. he wanted to find you so bad- this anxiety he had was much worse than when around he was in crowds, this one felt more instinctual.
→ forgetting he had brought his phone, he slipped it out of his pocket quickly dialing and calling you. to find you answering on the second ring.
→ “..h-hello-?”
→ “[Name]..! T-thank god your safe.”
→ the slight mess-up Sakusa slurred with his words made you feel slightly worried, “..yes I am safe. what’s up with you??”
→ “Nothing..! But w-where are you?”
→ “I’m.. at a nearby cafe. Are you sure you-”
→ your boyfriend interrupted you quickly, “I’m on my way.”
→ “H-hey..! Don’t just-”, hearing the call end with singular beep, “aaaand.. he hung up..” you decided to look around from your position outside, grasping your phone nervously. realizing the rain was pounding down much harder than earlier.
→ the sound of the familiar voice calling your name from the distance caught your attention, gazing over to see Sakusa running over towards you.
→ “S-saku-”
→ jumping lightly at the sudden hug he enveloped you, muttering soft rushed apologies over and over again as he hid his drenched face in the crook of your neck. he had continued his rambles of apologies as you hugged him back, rubbing his back lightly. watching the ravened hair male let it out a little longer before you could mutter reassuring words to him back.
→ the tension slowly rising from his muscles but the hold of his hug didn’t falter at all, only continuing to snake around your waist.
→ “..you scared me..” “...im really sorry, babe.”
→ you lifted your gaze to meet Sakusa’s, lifting your hands up to cup his face. brushing a few strands of hair away from his view sending a quick peck onto his lips. “you don’t need to apologize anymore Omi. you did enough already..”
→ “A-and you’re drenched! Baby, you’re gonna get sick-” you blinked, noticing how flat his hair was from the rain that couldn’t reach you both from the small roof over the entrance of the cafe.
→ “..i-i’ll be fine..” the soft stutter Sakusa made noted he was embarrassed about the thought, “..i’m glad your the one not gonna be sick though.” he muttered before softly pecking your lips.
→ “Honey..” you sighed, taking your hands in his before heading inside the building. “..lets just get something to drink to warm us up, ‘kay? then we can head back.”
→ “I-m.. paying aren’t I-..”
→ “Yes. Yes you are. A treat after a bad tiring day!”
→ “..you just want sweets-”
→ “Shut it Kiyoomi.”

miss moonlight, put in a word → draco malfoy
Tumblr media
DESCRIPTION ⌙ in which draco sees the same annoying hufflepuff he’s enamored within his dreams every night, but can’t muster up the courage to talk to her in waking life. so instead he talks to the moon, telling the rock that’s miles away, everything he wants to tell her. little does he know, she does the same thing.
PAIRING ⌙ draco x fem!reader
WORD COUNT ⌙ 3k
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
its a little angsty im sorry. but im nervous abt this and have been sitting on posting it for almost a month now so please lmk if you like it :)
based off the songs talking to the moon by bruno mars and please mr sun by tommy edwards
she waves at him, her eyes holding a happy glimmer. he walks closer to her and wraps his long arms around her, pulling her close. he breathes in her scent and she giggles. it sounds like heaven. he holds her like that for what feels like forever before she pulls away.
he watches as she sits down in the grass, patting the place beside her.
“sit draco.” she commands. he complies.
“i love it when i’m asleep. you’re here and the world is so much more peaceful.” he smiles, a real true smile. not like the ones he usually gives now.
“but imagine if we were awake. the world might not be so wonderful, but we’d have each other. and the sun. and the wind. and the trees. and missus moon.” she grins, looking up at the bright blue sky.
he wants to agree, and tell her that’s all they’ll ever need. but he knows he can’t. because truth be told he needs more. he needs to know his family will be safe. he needs to know if he’ll make it out of his sixth year alive. he needs more than the sun and moon.
instead, he places his head in her lap, relishing in the way her fingers card through his hair. she sings a song he can’t place as he falls asleep.
“i love you y/n” he whispers, right before he dozes off.
that’s how the dreams usually end. he always slips off to sleep so peacefully in your arms. but when he wakes up, he’s still in the slytherin dorm, lonely and afraid.
yours end in the same way, and when you wake, you’re clutching your pillow as if it’s him. you don’t dare tell anyone about the dreams. your friends and family would think you mad. but it’s enough for you to be able to have them, even if you’re not sure if they’re shared or not.
you see the way he looks in the dining hall, potions, and in passing. he’s always so monotonous. so unlike the boy you’ve grown up with.
you of course have dreams, where he’s told you everything that has happened to him. he’s confessed to you that he’s working with voldemort, for his parents' sake. he even told you about dumbledore. but no matter how much you beg him to leave that life behind, he can't. besides, you’re dreaming all of this. who’s to say it’s even real.
so you stay away, yearning for bedtime. where you can talk to the boy you love more than anything else in the world.
you’re not sure how the dreams started but you have an idea.
and so does draco.
he reckons he must have used some sort of wandless magic the night he was thinking to himself on the astronomy tower. it had been a humid night and he was all alone. his eyes deadset on the bright moon in front of him. he had just started talking.
he knew the moon wasn’t someone that could actually listen but then again, maybe that’s what he wanted? he didn’t want someone to place any input on his situation. he just wanted to speak and let his thoughts travel into the void and maybe out from his aching head.
“i just want everything to be okay. mother deserves a son who can protect her and.. father needs me. i can’t fail.  i just wish i had someone to talk to when the sun goes down. someone kind and someone warm. i know they’re somewhere out there. but maybe all i’ll ever have is you missus moon, at night when it’s just the stars to listen in to our conversation.” the boy had mumbled, before making his way to his dorm room.
you had been having a word with missus moon that night as well, alone in your hufflepuff prefect dorm. you thought yourself lucky to have a window so that you could see the stars and the moon. you were fighting sleep and had no one else to speak to, so you watched the bright yellow moon as you recounted your troubles.
“my dreams have been so bad recently missus moon. i think it’s because i’m still so scared for everyone and myself. they say the dark lord could strike any day. i’d hate for anyone i love or even myself to end up like poor cedric. i wish i had someone to talk to, someone to understand. everyone thinks i’m crazy, but they don’t know what i know. the world is getting scary. at least when the stars light up my room i have you missus moon.” you had sighed getting off the floor and laying down in your bed.
that night draco dreamt of flower fields and you. at first, the boy wondered if maybe it was real. it seemed real. he could see you and everything around you so vividly. and the same for you, you made out his platinum hair and could smell his crisp cologne. but when the two of you awoke, you knew it couldn’t be real.
until the next night, where the both of you met again in your dreams.
“are you following me?” you had asked draco.
he narrowed his eyes at you, “how could i follow you into a dream. what a stupid thing to ask.”
“you’re supposed to be nice to me. this is my dream after all.” you had pouted.
draco snorted, “i need to stop drinking tea before bed. i’m having dreams where the people in them think they’re the ones doing the dreaming.”
“but i am the one dreaming! this is my dream. i can control it, watch!” you’d grinned, before commanding a nearby tree to grow apples.
draco’s eyes had widened, “no, this can’t be right.”
you watched as he wished for the tree to grow taller before glaring at you, “smack yourself.”
you glared back at him, “no, but you can shove your fist down your throat if you’re going to be rude.”
draco circled you, “so you don’t have to do what i tell you and neither do i. strange.”
“why would i have to do what you tell me to do in my own dream?” you’d asked.
the boy had shrugged, “maybe it’s not just your dream. maybe it’s mine too.”
that’s the most the two of you ever discussed the shared dreams. after that there wasn’t a need. you both enjoyed them. both of you needed them.
once in study hall you caught draco reading a book about dreams but you didn’t ask him about it. in truth, you were too afraid to have him label you as insane.
draco found himself wanting to speak with you too. countless times. he had grown quite fond of you after the dreams he found you in every night. so in the daytime, he would sneak glances at you. he took notice if you did your hair differently or if your makeup was done. of course, he knew he couldn’t talk to you. you’d think him mad. still, he found himself dropping subtle clues to see if you’d come over to him, like reading a ghastly book about dreams in a class the two of you shared. it hadn’t worked but he could have sworn he caught you looking his way.
draco spends hours obsessing over you, the dreams, and the few glances you would give him. but the vanishing cabinet is almost fixed and he knows it’d be foolish to speak to you now. no matter how much he wishes to run into your arms and tell you to take him away from here, he won’t.
it’s a dreary day in june and you’re getting snacks for some of the first years when you hear it. maniacal laughter and breaking glass. your first thought is to check on your house. you rush into the hufflepuff common room and make sure everyone’s ok and then urge them to stay safe. they nod and bolt to their dorms.
then, you make your way to the source of the noise. the dining hall, which is torn to shreds, is crawling with death eaters. you feel lightheaded as you watch them. out of the corner of your eye, you see professor snape making his way to the astronomy tower.
curious, you quietly sneak behind him, careful not to make yourself known. you hear a voice above you. a voice you recognize.
draco.
you’re trying your hardest to figure out what he’s saying but you can’t. all the sounds around you are blending together and you can’t seem to calm down enough to hear anything. when the professor reaches the tower, underneath the scene of whatever is going on, you stay behind.
in a flash, the teacher is out of your vision and upstairs in the chaos.
“severus, please.” is all you hear before the killing curse bolts out of snape’s mouth.
you stand in shock as the footsteps trail out of the tower. draco. snape. dumbledore. death eaters. it was all so much.
“y/n! are you ok?” a watery-eyed harry potter asks from beside you. you don’t even question how he got here or if he saw what you did. instead, you fling your arms around him and stare at the wall petrified. no tears can escape your eyes, you’re in disbelief.
“come on. you have to breathe and we have to get down there. get your wand ready. we have to do something!” he shouts, voice breaking.
you look at him for a second before he bolts out of the room, wand in hand.
instead of trying to fight, talking to anyone about what you saw, or even going to look at your headmaster’s dead body like everyone else, you slip quietly into your prefects dorm.
you watch the moon until she’s gone and when you see mr sun the tears finally fall. you mumble, “talk to him please, mr sun.”
draco glanced at the blinding sun from the malfoy garden, where he had spent the night. he couldn’t be in that house. not after everything that happened. so instead, he sat in the garden thinking of his best thoughts, you.
he watches the sunrise, listens to the winds and the robins singing, and mutters to himself, “tell her how i feel. it shouldn’t end this way. since you are all her friends, she’ll listen to whatever you have to say.”
a baby robin sings a little louder, almost like it’s agreeing, and it causes the boy to cry.
it’s an eerily quiet early morning in the room of requirement on the second of may. you’re in the back of the room, trying to sleep. sleep has become your only form of happiness. your dreams have become a wonderful fairytale. draco is still prevalent and he holds you tighter and tighter with each night.
almost as soon as you drift to bed, you hear gasps. you look up to find harry, ron, and hermione. without a care in the world, you rush to the three just like everyone else. harry gives you a weak smile and you return it.
the three of them explain that today is the day. today is the day the world is split into two and voldemort attacks. plans are arranged and everyone holds each other close.
selfishly, you wish you could see draco.
minutes later, a meeting is called by snape in the dining hall. You watch as neville and ginny procure robes for the green-eyed boy and walk to the hall.
the carrows look at everyone with malice in their eyes as snape drones on about a sighting of harry in hogsmeade. soon after, harry shows himself and begins arguing with the black-haired man. he tells everyone about the night in the astronomy tower.
mcgonagall throws curses at the man along with harry before he flies out of the hall. The woman looks at all of us, eyes wide but determined.
in a rush, everyone is scattered about. you follow neville to the bridge and help as much as you can. when the death eaters, led by greyback, enter hogwarts, you stand your ground. you’re ready to fight.
draco easily locates blaise and goyle before heading off to find his wand and harry potter. his chest aches with looming fear but he tries to repress it the most he can.
“i guess this is it boys.” blaise sighs.
draco looks at his friend, “we’ll be fine. just stay safe and together. don’t go weak on me now zabini.”
you’re doing your best to fight off corban yaxley but every time you’re ready to throw a killing blow his way he narrowly hits you with the killing curse. your fighting in a state of pure unadulterated anger. it’s been hours of fighting but your anger remains.
“stupid little girl, you’ll be dead before nightfall.” yaxley spits before hitting you with a weak spell.
you still double over a bit, but hold your ground enough to raise your wand and hit him with the cruciatus curse. in the corner of your eye you watch professor flintwick begin dueling the vicious man, before running inside the castle.
fire burns everywhere around draco. he’s about to turn to blaise and say his goodbyes before potter snatches him up and leads him out of the room of requirement. the second he’s on the ground he makes a run for it. he loses blaise on the way and can’t seem to figure out where to go. he’s on the second floor, tears are pooling out of his eyes and the ache in his chest has grown when his body collides with another.
you fall back, hitting your head against the hard stone of the castle floor. when you look up, your vision is hazy and shaky.
“y/n?”
you know that voice. it’s the same voice you’ve heard every single night for a year.
“draco?” you ask, hands reaching out.
“you’re bleeding. let me help,” he says before gently healing your head.
you stare at the boy, “you know it feels weird to see you. i’ve never really spoken to you besides the dreams.”
his eyes grow wide, “you know about those?”
you smile a little, “yeah, i do.”
the two of you find yourselves entering the great hall, helping whoever you two can.
draco is comforting a teary-eyed second year when blaise zabini comes in, eyes bloodshot and clutching his right arm.
you watch as the two embrace, pulling apart so that draco can tend to his arm.
minutes that feel like hours pass as the three of you silently process the commotion going on around you.
a tattered luna lovegood emerges through the rubble and towards the three of you.
“everyone’s outside now- harry he... i think you all should come with me.” her shaky voice requests.
draco looks to you and nods, helping you rise. his hand grasps yours and you all follow luna outside.
all around you is destruction. the place you’ve called home for years in now a bruised battleground and at the very center of it stands the man you’ve come to fear more than anything in the world. voldemort.
“harry potter, is dead.” the creature laughs.
you grip draco tighter and he looks at you with an expression of sorrow.
“from this day forth you put your faith in me. and now is the time to declare yourself! come forward and join us. or die.” the man spits, smiling at the broken faces opposite him.”
it is quiet for just a moment before lucius malfoy calls for his son. you watch the man and his wife plead with him. but his hand remains in yours and feet right beside you.
you look up at him and give him your brightest smile, a smile you would give him in dreams. as he peers down at you he knows that nothing in the world means more to him than you and that smile he’s spent hours telling missus moon about.
“you insolent boy, draco!” the snake-like man hisses.
you turn to face him, eyes wide with fury and hate.
neville begins limping toward the band of villains.
“i’d like to say something.” the boys breathes out.
voldemort smirks at him, “well neville i’m sure we’d all be fascinated to hear what you have to say.”
“you’re wrong! harry’s heart did beat for us, for all of us!” and with that, he pulls the sword of godric gryffindor out of the sorting hat he’s been clutching and aims it at the deatheaters and their leader.
draco’s head cranes in harry’s direction, and in an instant, the boy flies out of hagrid’s arms and throws a spell at voldemort.
you cry out along with everyone else before watching voldemort’s followers disappear.
“come on, we’ve fought enough. i won’t let you die now!” draco commands, leading you to the bridge.
you follow, but turn to look at the castle one last time. draco stops as well and you see him meet ron and hermione’s gaze. ron nods his head and draco returns the gesture.
“let’s go draco.” you sigh.
he didn’t know he’d see you again. the two of you had gone to your home to bathe and sleep and when the boy found himself in his dreams, he saw you.
you smile at the platinum haired boy, “sit draco.”
he complies.
“i hope you haven’t gotten tired of seeing me. i suppose it will be a lot now. to have me in waking and in sleep.” you giggle.
draco stares at you deeply, “i could never get tired of you. i’ve spent a year talking to the moon, trying to get you. in hopes you're on the other side, talking to me too. i’ve asked the sun to tell you all the things i couldn’t, the wind to whisper all the things i love about you, all the rainbows to make you smile, and the trees to take you under their branches. i’d want nothing more than this.”
you lean your head on his shoulder, “i’m here now and we have eternity to tell eachother the things we haven’t said yet.”
the two of you can’t help but to stare at the moon some nights, silently thanking missus moonlight for putting in a word.

It's infuriating to know that Obi-Wan is back in the Temple, but that he's too busy to see you. Between Council meetings that drag for hours, more private gatherings with members of the Senate to discuss what the next move in the war should be, and allowing the poor man time to rest, Obi-Wan has been home for more than a week. You've barely caught more than a glimpse of him. Still, it's nice to have him present in your mind.
You know he's still in the Temple every day you wake up to a glowing good morning, love, his happiness to be near you radiating like sunshine even if you haven't had the time to see one another. It’s not safe to talk back and forth, but sometimes if one of you is particularly bored, you’ll trade a few sentences.
Master Yoda is on a roll today. Send help. Starting to think backwards I am.
Pity you I do.
Very funny, petal.
Then he’d be gone again, fading out before anyone got suspicious. The sudden absence hurts, but not as much as having him gone from the Temple entirely. At least here, you can feel him. You know he's safe.
In contrast to Obi-Wan's breakneck schedule, you've had almost nothing to do. It's full-on spring on Coruscant now, the warmth driving cold and flu season away. You have no colicky little ones in the creche to fuss over, no sick Padawans. The most you might see are some old Masters who need their aching bones tended to, or a quick training accident that needs mended. You haven't shipped out to a war-stricken planet in a while, either. It's strange to have downtime. Strange and frustrating, knowing Obi-Wan is nearby but still not close enough. Having a spare moment between all the illness and injuries is a good thing, and you're grateful. If only you weren't so restless.
-----
It’s rare -- almost impossible -- that you get to take the entire day off, but that’s exactly what you’ve been told to do. The medbay sits empty except for a couple of droids, instructed to deep clean while there are no patients. Even Master Allie appears to be taking it easy; her Force is calm as she bids you goodbye. She insists that if anyone turns up in need of healing, she and Barriss Offee would be on call to take care of it. You bow to her and leave, excited about what possibilities this could open up.
The first thing you do is check for Obi-Wan. Of course, he’s preoccupied. You duck out after feeling the level of concentration he’s exerting at something-or-other; it’s mixed with frustration and you don’t want to distract him. Like you, he’s getting more and more impatient with how busy the Council has kept him. You try not to let yourself be disappointed; it would be too lucky for both of you to be free at the same time, on the same day. All you can do is hope that you can find the time to be together before he has to leave again.
With your schedule more open than ever, you head to your favorite courtyard. The least you can do is soak up some Coruscanti sunshine. But only a quarter of an hour passes before you’re interrupted by the sound of footsteps on cobblestones, headed fast in your direction. Around the corner, scattering the kiros birds, comes a youngling you recognize. It's Gil Graven, a spitfire of a youngling you see in the medbay far more than others his age. He drives his minders crazy with his recklessness, but he’s a sweetheart. Even if you swear you have him admitted once a month for sprains and cuts.
Even now he trips and topples, would have earned the Halls of Healing their first visitor of the day, if you hadn't righted him with a quick pull of the Force.
"Easy, Gil. Where's the fire?" You smile, watching the kid tug his too-large tunic back onto his shoulder.
"Fire? There's no fire, miss. I was looking for you!"
His eyes go round with confusion, cheeks red from running. You forgot how literal younglings could be.
"I meant -- wait, looking for me? What's wrong? Who's hurt?"
Kriff. You should've known taking a day off would backfire. Something had happened in the fifteen minutes you’d had your butt parked in the grass. You get to your feet, gripping the pouch of emergency bacta on your belt.
"Oh! It's not a healer thing." Gil bounces in place, thinking. "But you're needed in the training halls! And they told me to find you quick!"
"Gil, calm down for a minute, okay?" The training halls? Why on Ryloth were you wanted there? "Who told you?"
He shrugs, unhelpful. “I dunno. I’ve never met ‘im before. But he told me to go get the Knight from the Healing Halls ‘cause no one’s been admitted today, and you’d be able to help him.”
You’re still not sure if this is a healer problem, or a matter of simple confusion. Gil’s got a touch of what healers like to call bouncy brain. Sweet as he is, he talks at lightspeed and can’t seem to concentrate if he isn’t moving. There’s a real possibility that he’s got something mixed up here. Still, it’s not as if you’re doing anything else. The Force must have decided that you need to keep busy.
You decide to see what he’s going on about. “Okay, Gil. Lead the way.”
-----
Lingering outside one of the larger training rooms is Master Ki-Adi-Mundi, who smiles when he spots Gil leading you over by the hand.
“There you are!” He crouches down to greet your youngling escort, clapping him on the shoulder. “Thank you, Gil, I am so glad you found our friend. You may go now.”
Gil bows to him, his Force blooming under the praise. “Yes, Master.” You both watch as he takes off the way he came, speeding back up to a run.
“No running!” You scold after him. He barely slows before he’s out of sight.
Master Ki-Adi-Mundi chuckles. “That one reminds me of our own Anakin Skywalker.”
You nod, seeing the resemblance. Anakin is five years your junior, but he was still notorious when you were Padawans. Always turning up where he shouldn’t have been, Obi-Wan always three steps behind. Nothing’s changed, Obi-Wan often tells you.
“Master,” you say, hearing the low buzz of voices coming from the room you’re standing in front of. “Gil said you needed me? Is someone injured?”
“Hm? Oh! Oh stars, no.” Master Ki-Adi shakes his head, looking sheepish. “But I was rather hoping you’d be able to help me with a little problem I’ve run into.”
“Of course.” Okay, now I'm suspicious.
Ki-Adi tugs the end of his beard. “My squadron is being called out to fight on very short notice, I’m afraid. I was meant to teach today’s lesson, and was lucky enough to find a substitute for myself on short notice. But my instruction partner is leaving as well, and I haven’t yet found them a suitable replacement.”
“O-oh,” you hear yourself squeak.
Karabast. He wants you to teach? Your stomach drops somewhere near your ankles. This is so far from what you were expecting when Gil led you here. You can’t do this. You can’t.
Ki-Adi must feel your panic, because he continues quickly. “Don’t fret, my dear! My substitute is a very capable instructor. Follow his lead, and everything will be fine.” He claps a hand on your shoulder, turning away.
“Thank you again -- and now I really must be off.” And with that, he’s gone, walking at a brisk pace down the corridor.

You’re so anxious that you feel like you’re about to be sick. You’ve done many things on behalf of the Council, often without knowing what they even were, but this? You can’t do this. There’s too many people. You lean against the doorframe, struggling for breath.
What’s the matter? Obi-Wan’s concern comes rushing in, and you’re grateful you have him to latch onto, to focus on.
Someone's asked a favor of me -- and I don’t think I can do it. You’re gripping your saber hilt too tight, the metal biting into your hand.
Please try to calm down. Find somewhere to sit and meditate, collect yourself --
Your anxiety is affecting him, making his own thoughts race even if he doesn’t know the cause. This sometimes happens. You’ve jolted awake in the middle of the night more than once with nightmares that weren’t your own, or had thoughts that didn’t make sense ‘til you realized they weren’t yours.
I can’t.
Why not?
You don’t reply. You have to go in there. Master Ki-Adi said that he was already late. Remembering your breathing, you focus on a count of four in through your nose, then hold the breath for a count of seven. When you exhale, you count to eight. After repeating the exercise several times, you can think straight. It’s not the more in-depth meditation Obi-Wan would have preferred, but it helps. All you can do is hope that the instructor carries much of the class, as Master Ki-Adi said he would.
When it feels like you’ve released much of your fear and uncertainty to the Force, you open the door and step in.
CW ends here!
Immediately, twenty pairs of curious Padawan eyes move to follow you, and you cringe. They all sit cross-legged on the padded floor. Three of the walls are lined with mirrors, the better for students to see fighting forms and sparring matches from every angle. On a side wall, a flimsi depicting each form of saber combat stretches the length of the room, cut off only by the supply closet where training accessories are stored. You’ve been in this room and its adjacent siblings dozens of times. But all that isn’t as important to you as the instructor, who’s turned to see why the room’s gone quiet.
It’s Obi-Wan.
Standing bare-foot on one of room-length training mats, in the middle of handing out sparring sticks to the class, he freezes when you lock eyes.
Oh, he says, equal parts shock and happiness.
Yeah.
I say this with the greatest respect, darling -- why did Master Ki-Adi send you?
Because the Healing Halls are completely empty. Also to torture me. You grimace, joining him at the front of the room. He nods to you in greeting, as if you aren’t having a mental conversation.
“Knight Courtee. Glad to see you could join us.”
“I apologize, Master. It was short notice for me, as well.” You bow to him.
Is this what you were so worked up about? They’re only Padawans. They don’t bite -- much.
Once the group realizes that you’re the other instructor that Obi-Wan’s been waiting for, the chatter resumes. They stop ogling you. From the looks of the group, they’re all in the late teens, and bubbling over with energy. Right in the middle of Padawan and Knight, but with all the arrogance to think they’re already the latter. Away from their Masters in a group like this, they tend to get far rowdier than they would otherwise. Each has a lightsaber strapped to their belt.
“Run me through the lesson?” you say, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Quiet!” Obi-Wan demands over his shoulder, and you jump. The loudest cluster of Padawans instantly falls silent behind you.
Sorry, he thinks at you. I’m starting to see why Ki-Adi jumped on the first ship leaving the system.
“Amina, lose the gum. Did you think I wouldn’t notice? Yes, now. Navo, do I have to move you to the other side of the room? Don’t think I won’t.”
Mumbles of yes, Master, break out before he turns back to you, satisfied. You don’t smile but know he feels your amusement.
“We’ll be running through some more advanced katas,” Obi-Wan says. “Then we’ll break them into pairs and focus on the saber technique of each pair. At the end of the lesson, you and I will give a demonstration on a chosen form. Perhaps more than one, if the class requests it.”
“Doesn’t sound too bad,” you admit, thinking back to your own group Padawan lessons. You’d dreaded the paired sparring sessions, having your own form broken down and scrutinized. In the end, though, it had improved your skills. Being able to do the same for this group would be an honor. This is a big piece of being a Jedi, after all; skills passed down from Master to Knight to Padawan.
“It isn’t. Just don’t let them smell your fear,” he grins. “Let’s get started.”
As noisy as the group is, you can tell they’re genuinely excited to be in a session led by Master Kenobi. And Obi-Wan really knows how to lead the room. While you stand stiffly off to the side, nodding whenever he finishes saying something and hoping you don’t look like an idiot, he uses the space. He explains the lesson to them as he explained it to you, then asks if anyone has any questions.
The girl who’d been caught with gum earlier, Amina, raises her hand. Her other hand is busy twirling her long Padawan braid, like she can’t help but fidget with it. “Um, Master Kenobi, why are we using sparring sticks? We’ve had lightsabers for a while now.”
A murmur of agreement washes through the crowd, and Obi-Wan smirks.
“Good question, Padawan. Everyone, close your eyes and reach through the Force. Do you feel how tumultuous the energy in this room is? How excitable? If any one of you lit your saber in this room, I fear someone would lose a limb. And that’s something that Knight Courtee can’t fix for you. So we play it safe.”
Another hand punctuates the air, from the very front of the crowd. This Padawan seems younger than the rest, with hair that sticks up everywhere and eyes focused only on Obi-Wan. He starts speaking before he can be called on.
“All due respect, Master,” he says, in a way that makes you think that he’s used to sharing unorthodox opinions. The corner of Obi-Wan’s mouth quirks up as he fights a smile, and you feel him think of Anakin.
“Why are we here? We’re fighting a war. Many of us have already seen combat alongside our Masters.” He lowers his eyes to the mat, afraid he’s gone too far. When his fellow Padawans start nodding and whispering, he tugs on the end of his nerf-tail, as if unsure of what to do.
Obi-Wan takes a moment to consider this question, hand going to his beard as it often does when he’s thinking.
“I appreciate your honesty, Caleb. And you’re correct. It might seem...redundant to spend your time here when even now fellow Jedi are fighting real battles.”
He pauses, thinking of how to continue. The Padawans are hanging onto his every word, the room silent. “But that’s why it’s so important to refine your technique when we can spare the time, in a secure environment. It will make you stronger when you face a real opponent. It might even save your life. Does that make sense?”
Wow, you think to yourself. He’d handled that beautifully. Even though Caleb had spoken out of turn, Obi-Wan hadn’t belittled him or made the teen feel bad about what was an honest and important question. He’d taken the time to consider the Padawan’s feelings, and had given him an equally honest answer, not something to pacify him. It takes you back to your own Padawan training, when Obi-Wan had been your instructor.
“Yes, Master,” Caleb ducks his head, looking relieved. “thank you.”
Obi-Wan’s eyes search the room. “Anything else?”
After a pause, another hand goes up, toward the back.
“Millu?” You love that he knows everyone by name. Some Padawans turn around to reveal a burly Mon Calamari boy.
“Yeah.” His bright yellow eyes dart over to you. “Uh, speaking of Knight Courtee. Why are you teaching us? I thought you were just, like, a healer.” There’s no real malice in his tone, more like an off-handed curiosity, but Obi-wan stiffens.
Luckily you think of something to say before he can open his mouth. It wouldn’t look good for him to get upset defending you.
“That’s an excellent question, Millu, thank you.” You shoot him a smile, and you swear his scales darken with a blush.
“Being a Jedi with healing abilities does not mean that you get to neglect other aspects of your training. On the contrary, your connection with the Force must be powerful at all times. Healing will swamp you physically and emotionally, so you must keep both body and mind strong to withstand it.”
Your smile widens. “Of course, if you’re asking if you can best me in a fight, we’ll see how you match up during paired spars. Sound good?”
Laughter breaks out, and Millu blushes even darker before muttering, “Sure,” and looking away. Even if it seemed like he was questioning your ability to teach them (as you yourself are), you’re grateful the interaction’s lightened the mood.
Nicely done, says Obi-Wan.
“Very good,” he says aloud, clapping his hands together. “Now if we’re done heckling Knight Courtee, let’s begin with some stretches, please.”
------
Obi-Wan was right, you think, walking around the room. This...isn’t bad at all. You walk from pair to pair, taking in the angle of their weapon, how they hold their bodies, making minor corrections and leaving comments as you go. They look up when you come by, eager to see what you’re going to say to them. It’s much easier to interact with the Padawans on this smaller scale, and you find yourself joking with them, smiling. After a while, they even start asking for you, looking to see if you can demonstrate a move or if they’re holding the training stick the correct way. They aren’t scary at all -- just excitable kids who want to learn.
I’m sorry, Obi-Wan was what?
Looking up, you see Obi-Wan grinning across the room, demonstrating his own correction. In the middle of all this excitable teen Force energy, it’s easy for you to have a conversation and go unnoticed.
You were right. I like this.
And you’re good at it; they adore you. You’re going to make a wonderful Master. He shows you a brief image of a happy Padawan trailing behind you, eager to follow wherever you lead. It’s the best feeling, love.
Unexpected emotion rises in your chest at his pure sincerity. He knows how insecure you are about the fact that you’ll soon have your own Padawan to look after, but he doesn’t have a single doubt that you can do it. For the first time, you let yourself think of the situation in a hopeful light. It was a path you never pictured for yourself, but one that you know you have to follow. Obi-Wan makes it look so easy. Anakin, and even Anakin’s Padawan Ahsoka, look at him like he hung the stars. Of course, so do you.
“Last twenty minutes!” Obi-Wan calls over the noise of sparring sticks clacking together. “Take a seat, class.”
The Padawans rush to do as they’re told, everyone clamoring for the best spot to view your spar with Master Kenobi. They go completely silent, waiting for you to join him. A hush even falls over the Force energy in the room, like they’re all holding their breath.
Obi-Wan sinks into a bow when you’re opposite him, one hand on his saber. When you glance down in confusion, he sends a wave of amusement.
I said I didn’t trust the Padawans, darling. Not you.
Not sure if that’s wise. You bow in return, unclipping your saber also. He ignites his blade, the blue glow casting light over all the reflections of the mirrors. Taking a deep breath, trusting the familiar feeling of your own weapon, you ignite your lightsaber. The bright green light shimmers over your hands, crackling with your energy.
You’re surprised at how nervous you are. It’s one thing to watch him from across the room, to be taught by him as a Padawan yourself, but to spar with Obi-Wan as an equal? He’s going to wipe the floor with you.
“What form does Knight Courtee use?” You hear somebody whisper.
“Form five -- she told me.”
“Oooh, really? That’ll be fun to see against Master Kenobi.”
“Shhh!”
Obi-Wan waits until the group is quiet again to ask if you’re ready to start. Your saber hums hot in your hand, a little less controlled than you’d like it.
“Ready as I can be, Master.”
“Then let’s begin.”
No sooner are the words out of his mouth than he’s in your space, much closer than you want him with a lightsaber in hand. You strike out instinctively and he expected that, anticipated it. He was baiting you. Your blade bounces off of his far more harshly than you like, the zyoom echoing through the room. You take a step back, try to calculate an opening. He mirrors you, waiting to react. It takes you longer than it should to realize that he’s shielded the bond up tight, not giving anything away. The only thing you can hear is your heartbeat and the crackling of the sabers, each one fueled by its master’s adrenaline.
He keeps his blade held at eye level, and you lunge in for a mid-range attack. Obi-Wan blocks but you keep it coming, getting back into the groove of Djem So after spending so long out of combat. It feels good to have the saber be a part of you, to have it grow lighter as it remembers your touch.
Strike, block, strike, block. You’re working at a breakneck rhythm trying to get through his defenses, but Obi-Wan won’t give an inch. Sweat pours down your temple but still you press, using the Force to try and search for a weak point but finding none. He’s too kriffing fast.
There’s a reason they call him Master of this form. It’s infuriating, the almost lazy way he flicks your lightsaber aside every time, using your energy against you. There’s not a hair out of place on him. Every time you lower your blade, wondering what to do, he simply resets, content to wait again. You can tell from the look in his eyes that he knows you’re getting tired.
The Padawans are anything but quiet now -- some shouting Get her, Master Kenobi! while others insist that you can hold your own. Your eyes flick over to them once. Some lean forward towards the fight as far as they dare, a few are even on their feet in support.
When Obi-Wan finally tips his saber in retaliation, you barely manage to block, caught off guard at the change from defense to offense. He strikes again, again, again -- each blow more brutal than the last, each one so close to your skin that you can feel his blue saber’s sizzling heat. He’s driving you back against the wall. Despite your best effort, you’re losing ground where you’d previously held it. When you feel your back slam against the wall he was driving you toward, you gasp and fumble a block -- your last move. The blade of Obi-Wan’s saber hovers near your throat, a win.
“And that’s your head,” he says easily. You lower your saber and extinguish the blade, holding your hands up in a show of defeat.
The room erupts.
“Master Kenobi, that was so wizard --”
“Knight Courtee was letting him have it! Did you see --?”
“I wish I could have recorded that for the holo!”
“Settle down,” Obi-Wan says, but he’s smiling. “I’m glad that you all have found this lesson so illuminating.” He bows to you, signalling the end of the match, and you follow suit.
“You’re dismissed,” he says to the room. The declaration is met with mixed reactions; half are glad to be free, half don’t want the lesson to be over yet.
“No need to hang around and help tidy this time. You were such a good group that Knight Courtee and I are glad to take care of it.” It’s traditional for students to stick around after the lesson is done and help roll up the training mats, collect the sparring sticks, and clean the room in any other way that needs it.
That statement really gets them out the door, though several of them whine about him being far cooler than their regular teacher and why can't he teach them all the time?
Once everyone’s filed out, Obi-Wan locks the door behind them. He turns to you with a long sigh, relieved that the loudness of all those teenagers in one place has dispersed.
“Well,” you say. “That’s not how I expected my morning to go.”
“I’m glad,” Obi-Wan replies. “I was beginning to think that I wouldn’t see you at all in my time home, yet here we are.”
“Like the Force willed it.”
He beams at that, drawing you tight against him. “C’mere. My bright little instructor.”
You grumble, cheek pressed against his chest. “You flayed me within an inch of my life, Obi-Wan.”
All he does in response to your grumpiness is chuckle, placing warm kisses everywhere he can reach on your face. “Yes. I did.”
“It was embarrassing.”
“I couldn’t exactly go easy on you, could I?”
No, he couldn’t. Everyone knows the extent of Obi-Wan’s skill, and while you aren't untalented with a saber, winning or even overcoming him would be unlikely. You’d fought honestly, and so had he. Anything else would have invoked suspicion.
He takes your silence for the correct answer, then gently pries your cheek from his body.
“Would it help if you got kisses as a consolation prize?” He’s looking at you so fondly, like you’re his favorite thing in the galaxy. You nod, already leaning on your tiptoes to reach.
Obi-Wan hums against your lips, sinking against you like he’s been waiting for this -- because you both have. The kisses stay close-mouthed, but he’s pressing them onto you fast, his hands roaming you urgently. Your bond tells you that he wants to take his time with you, would have each moment stretch out for as long as possible, if he could. He wants to savor you. But arousal is winning out.
“Sweetheart,” he murmurs, pulling back to brush his nose against yours. “Do you know how much restraint it took not to pin you against the wall and have you, at the end of our fight? To resist sending all the little Padawans away right then?”
You gasp, feeling heat stirring deep in your stomach. The honey-sweetness of his tone contrasts with his words, but he’s just getting started.
“There was such fire in your eyes when we sparred, kitten." Kitten. Yet another pet name to add to your already large collection. This one makes you blush, and you don't miss Obi-Wan's pleased grin. "I had to shut you out so that you wouldn’t get distracted by my, er, distraction.”
His distraction presses up against your leg now, thick and hot. Obi-Wan tugs the end of your braid hard, tilting your head back to expose your neck. You whimper against him, all but letting him hold you up at this point. He loves it -- going to work at once nipping and kissing everywhere he can get to. His breath is heavy on your skin as he ruts against your thigh, trying and failing to bite back his own ecstatic moans.
“We’re alone now,” you choke out, hardly aware enough to string the sentence together. “s-so you can -- do whatever you want with me.”
This makes him pause. “Is that so?” Obi-Wan’s tone is still so light, like you’re having a conversation about what they’re serving in the refectory today, not how badly you want him to fuck you.
“Yes,” you say, embarrassed at how desperate you sound, how easily you melt for him. You can see yourself over his shoulder in the mirrors, and you blush, burying your face.
He laughs a little at your reaction. “What if I want to take you into that supply closet and bend you over?” His hand roams down your body, landing on your crotch. Two fingers rub a strong circle through the material, and you lean into it. “What if I want to take you from behind, make up for all the time we haven’t been together?”
“I’d ask why -- aren’t we already there,” you huff, blinking up at him.
That’s all the answer he needs. In one motion, he grabs you round the middle and hauls you over his shoulder like a sack of meilooruns. Your breath whooshes out, surprise and a lack of air keeping you from forming a sentence as he marches you to the closet as promised. The ground bounces and sways in your vision as you’re jostled -- it’s a strange sensation, being carried. Thankfully, it only lasts a few seconds.
Obi-Wan opens the door and closes it just as quickly once you’re both inside, making you aware of how small, how dark, the space is. You find yourself deposited on the storage bin that the mats are kept in, your legs dangling high in the air. He leans in to kiss you, nothing but hot breath and hungry hands, and you fist your own in the front of his tunic. It spurs him on, and soon his tongue is pressing into your open mouth, exploring every corner.
You moan into him, your fingers going beyond clothes to scratch against his chest. Obi-Wan picks you up again and you lift your legs around his waist, rubbing tight against his cock. He bears your entire weight like it’s nothing, continuing to kiss you as if your legs are planted on the ground. Stars, the strength, the eagerness of him, is overwhelming. His arms are pillars, holding you steady, crossed firm around your back.
"I thought you said," you gasp out, shivering when his tongue flicks out to catch your earlobe, "something about -- bending me over --"
“So eager today,” he says, his voice a tantalizing purr.
“Can you blame me?” you blurt.
"And what does that mean, dearest?"
He already knows what you mean. It’s everywhere in your mind. You can’t hide how you feel when you’ve been this close to him for so long, forbidden to touch him, to even think about it until you’ve reached your breaking point.
Obi-Wan, hands behind his back, patiently watching the Padawans demonstrate their forms. Nodding and sometimes stepping in to correct, placing his hand casually on an arm or leg to shift the balance of their weight. Then the Padawan he’s correcting becomes you, and his touch is no longer innocent. The group is melting away, and his mouth is trailing down your neck, whispering things that have little to do with the kata you’re struggling through.
“Oh,” he chuckles. “I see.”
You bump your head into his shoulder, too embarrassed to answer. As if to reassure you, Obi-Wan sends you an image back.
Both of you in the same training room, but you stand among your fellow Padawans, now all Knights, shuffling anxiously from foot to foot. You don't look that much different from the way you do now, but for the traditional Padawan's hairstyle.
Though you're seeing things from his perspective, the mirrors give him away; Obi-Wan looks younger, too. There are no lines around his eyes here, he holds himself more loosely. Like there isn't a galaxy-wide war. And he's less certain as he flits from student to student, new at this.
"You were always a pleasure to speak to, you know," Obi-Wan tells you, low voice right in your ear. He knows that he's teasing you, knows exactly the effect it's having on your body. You squirm in his tight grip, unable to go anywhere to get away from the softness of his voice.
"Polite and passionate. Made your Master very proud. But…" he trails off, and you shiver, anticipating his next words.
"So anxious whenever you saw me, weren't you?" He muses, fingers flexing on the curve of your ass. "And now I finally understand why."
"Obi-Wan…" you protest, unsure of what you're going to say next but just knowing that you need the teasing to stop. Both mental and physical -- he's hard against your abdomen, almost painful with how tight you're wedged against him.
"Down, love," he says. With effort, you extract your legs from around his waist and plant your feet on the floor, with his hands to guide you. "Turn around."
For a moment, you get excited, thinking that he's done teasing you. Obi-Wan makes quick work of your belt, dropping it to the floor seconds before your pants and underwear. You step out of them, breathing heavily, feeling his chest against your back. There's a clink, and you realize that he's dropped his belt as well, one hand bracing on your shoulder as he fumbles out of his own bottoms.
There's nothing between you now. Obi-Wan's bare dick rubs against your tailbone, leaving a warm dribble of pre-come.
"Now bend forward for me, darling -- that's it --"
You lean on the storage bin, heart thumping a tattoo in your throat. Obi-Wan lines himself up behind you, breath ragged, and sinks inside you in one long push.
"Obi-Wan, oh," you cry out, not expecting how full you'd feel from this angle.
"I know, sweetheart, I know," he says, taking a moment to adjust to the sensation. His mind is a high buzz of pleasure, looking forward to taking you apart in this new, delicious way.
Then he moves. So, so deep and slow. You let out a broken whine, toes curling. He pauses, holds his breath. Then thrusts again, just as unhurried as the first time, and your fingers scrabble for purchase on the smooth material of the bin in front of you.
“Hmm,” Obi-Wan sighs. “Do you know, this reminds me of something.”
You groan, not out of pleasure, but because he’s stopped. How? Where and how did he find the restraint to torment you like this? You’re not sure which part of today’s interaction set him off, but you sorely wish that he’d get down to business and fuck you.
“What does it remind you of?” you ask tightly, figuring that playing along will get you where you want to be faster. As if rewarding you, Obi-Wan’s hands come around to find your breasts, teasing your nipples with the barest of touches. Gods if he doesn’t go faster --
He can hear your mind loud and clear, but says nothing, only sending a feeling of amusement back before answering your question.
"Watching you go through katas in this very room. Or, well, the room outside." Obi-Wan presses into your back, finally starting to push into you in a slow but satiating rhythm.
"Mmm," you manage, pressing your lips together hard to avoid reaching an inappropriate volume.
“Do you remember the criticism I had for you, little Padawan? You were so tense. Why was that?” All the while he’s languidly thrusting into you from behind. As if he expects you to form a coherent response.
“I l-liked you,” you stammer out, bracing yourself on the edge of the storage bin.
"Oh? Well, I liked you too. You were a wonderful student."
"That's not what I --" Thank the Maker that it's pitch black in this closet, because your face is burning.
"But for some reason," he continues, enjoying himself, "you always needed correction in solo practice. The other Masters told me, several times, that that was not an issue in their own lessons."
You can only whimper as he bears into you deeper. He knows exactly what he's doing to you. When you place a hand on your stomach, just above your belly button, you can feel him inside you.
"Tell me, sweetheart. Did you need my hands on your body, as desperately as you do now?"
"Yes, Master," you all but sob. "I need, I n-need --"
"Need me to fuck you?" Obi-Wan supplies, voice going rough and breathy. "Need me to wreck you, the way your mind is screaming for it?"
You slam the palm of your hand on the top of the bin, and it makes a hollow thud, sending pain shooting up your arm.
"Obi-Wan, yes! Please, please fuck me, I need it!" You're aware that your words border on incoherence, but not enough to care.
And he doesn't either.
Just as you've reached your limit, so does Obi-Wan. One of his hands grabs your wrist and pins it, hard, while the other squeezes your hip.
"Are you ready?" He pants in your ear, pausing only to nip at your shoulder blade. Already he's fucking you deeper, so good so thick inside you, that you're writhing under his every touch.
"Wanted to do this -- for s-so long --" Obi-Wan gasps out and so do you, the heat of orgasm reaching a crescendo in your thighs as you feel him come apart in your mind.
"Want to come so deep inside you, darling, oh please, please --"
You know that he's barely hanging on, waiting for your permission.
"Gods, Master, yes --" Like you could deny him this, when you want it so desperately too.
His forehead drops to your shoulder as he rams into you, shoving you against the bin. It takes everything you have not to scream his name when you come, gripping his arm -- the only part of him you can reach from this angle.
Obi-Wan isn't far behind, moaning loud behind you as your orgasm makes your pussy clamp down even tighter on him.
"Yes, yes, oh my Gods --"
The bond flares up sudden and white-hot between you, carrying the sensation of Obi-Wan's pleasure just as it had that night on Odryn.
"Kriff," you say weakly, clutching his arm like it's the only thing connecting you to the planet.
Sweetheart, I'm there, I'm right there
I know, and I'm -- me too --
Again?
Yes
Oh fuck, fuck -- I'm coming, stars, I'm coming, oh --
You come a second time when Obi-Wan starts to spurt inside you, tears spilling from the intensity of it all. With him this tight against your body, you swear you can feel every hot spurt of come shoot up inside you. Obi-Wan's teeth are caught in the material of your tunic, muffling his shout. It feels like you stand there, taking his come for minutes, as he shudders against you.
When it's over you whimper, leaning against his chest on aftershock-weak legs. Slowly, as if his head is one step behind, Obi-Wan puts his arms around you.
"Stars above, Obi-Wan," you mutter, every coherent thought fucked out of your head. Your brain feels like static, but your body's floating. Pulling out and turning you gently to face him again, Obi-Wan plants a line of soft kisses from your forehead to your mouth. His release runs heavy down your thighs, but there's not much you can do about it here.
"Not tense now, are you?" he says, tracing slow, wet circles over your sensitive clit.
You laugh. "You're unbelievable."
"No, I'm committed to a scene," Obi-Wan corrects, as if this was all an elaborate game.
You consider saying something along the lines of, I'm going to commit my boot to your rear end if you don't quit it, but think better of it.
Instead you re-dress, wincing at the mess you'll have to tolerate down your crotch and legs until you can get to the nearest fresher. This is the downfall of spontaneous sex. No easy cleanup.
"Next time, would you like to come with me?" Obi-Wan's asking. You snort, buckling your belt back into place.
"Pretty sure I just did. You didn't notice?"
He pauses, then opens the closet door, letting in a blinding slice of light. Though he's dressed, Obi-Wan looks disheveled and wide-eyed still in a way that you always adore.
"That's...no. That's not what I'm talking about, love," he says, a hint of amusement in his tone.
"I mean, the next time I have to leave. Come with me. I think we've both come to realize that being apart is painful. And that being together isn't just a physical concept anymore."
His voice has dropped to a near-whisper, but you're hanging on to every word. Though you'd never admit it aloud, this is exactly what you want. To follow him instead of lying awake every night, worrying he won't come back from the last distant system he's shipped away to. You want to be beside him, no matter how rough things are.
You are a Jedi, not a housewife. And frankly, being kept in the Temple while he's away risking his neck, the bond blocked for days or weeks at a time, is torture.
Obi-Wan listens to all this, your outpouring of emotion through the bond you never meant to forge with him. He shows his understanding, his respect, his compassion for you, in return.
"Okay. Okay," he says, more to himself than you. "I'll speak to the Council. Knowing them, it may take some time to get an answer, but --"
You cut him off with a kiss. It doesn't matter. As long as you're together.

a little tipsy | T.S
Tumblr media
summary; the reader always gets in trouble when she gets tipsy but this time , she was lucky.
warning; its a fluff, maybe tommy is out of character ? idk and maybe some grammar mistakes ,  I literally wrote this while i was in class so there is that
word count; 1507
author’s note; nursing school is sort of stressful and I seem to only write when im stressed so.. ,btw I wrote this for @captivatedbycillianmurphy i feel like i owe them, I hope you guys like it! please tell me what you think of it.
she sat at the bar , watching her friends sing and dance while she drank her regular drink, these nights out were not her favorite but seeing her friends laugh made her feel happy. but the moment she saw him entering ,she lowered her gaze and faced forward.
she knew him , like everyone did , she works at a nearby bookstore and when she's done she comes here to help harry , her dad's friend. she would see him everyday but she never talked to him , she would try to pretend like he didn't exist, why? she doesn't even know.
the moment she's done , she'll just hurry to get out but today seemed like she is stuck ,its still early so her friends will refuse to go home and she has to stay and make sure they won't get in trouble.
"it's okay , he is just a guy." she whispered to her self , or so she thought
"yeah , I'm just a guy relax." he smirked and she felt as if her soul left her body.
he is way closer than she thought he was , she peaked slowly to find him still looking at her .
"I'm actually not that bad once you forget the whole gangster thing." he joked
"yeah, I bet." she said meekly, the words of her friend keeps echoing in her head.
"you have a crush on tommy !! aww , thats so cute.!"
"no , I don't " she said as she was organizing the books.
"you do , it's fine , it's natural" she sighed "he is very dreamy so no one blames you"
"no one will blame me because I have no feelings towards that man whatsoever."
"you said 'whatsoever' ,thats you shoving your tongue down his throat in your language"
"what's your name?" he asked
"y/n" she answered , she doesn't know why would he want to know , because honestly she isn't that interesting compared to , well , anyone.
she downed her third glass , she isn't drunk but she is more confident now, she thinks.
"your friends seem to be having fun, why aren't you with them?."
"your brothers are having fun too and I don't see you there."
he was somehow shocked but mostly amused
"you really don't want me around you."
she faced him "my mom really doesn't approve the fact that you exist but I don't mind"
"you work at the bookstore ,don't you?"
"I do"
"why?"
"not a lot of people go there."
"you work in a bookstore to avoid people?"
she nodded and downed her fourth glass , she is a bit tipsy.
"I wish it was this easy for me"
"with a face like yours ? I don't people would leave you alone"
he smiled " I hope that's a compliment "
"It is , your face is like drugs to women"
"your very honest"
"I'm tipsy"
"I like you better when you actually talk"
"I would've never talked to you without a bit of alcohol in my system"
"why is that?"
“take a wild guess” she says as she nods at the group of giggling girls that were obviously talking about him.
he chuckled at her , his smile growing “ I don’t see how that would be relevant”
“um , I feel like I might get stabbed if I talked to you” she glanced at the group of girls once more “ oh , if looks could kill
he was laughing now , she watched and giggled to herself.
“I made him laugh!” she thought to herself and was feeling a ridiculous sense of pride .
she turned to look at her friends that she forgot about and she was shocked to see them gone except one who was about to leave
“pardon me , I need to do something” she walked away before he could even answer.
“sara , where are the rest ?” she said as she cursed herself for forgetting about them.
“oh , don’t worry! laura’s brother drove them home and I will be walking home” she patted y/n shoulder gently “ I am sober and my house is 5 minutes away , you can stay with your date” she said and wiggled her brows.
“fuck off” she smiled as she hugged her friend goodbye.
“you are an amazing friend , my own brothers wouldn’t be worried about me like that” he was standing behind her now.
she jumped at the wound of his voice “it seems to me as if your brothers are done with your shit”.
“they are” he smiled at her
“I am tipsy and my friends left so I should get going too” she said as she looked at her feet
“ can I walk you home?” he asked as he held the door open for her.
“I didn’t peg you as a gentleman , no offense”
“what? offense taken very personally”
“ I didn’t peg you as a dramatic person either” she giggled as he scoffed
he offered his arm as they walked , she gladly accepted.
“you are not as rude and cold as I thought you would be.” she admitted
“I am, you just are not someone I want to be rude and cold with” his voice was soft and warm , almost out of character.
“so , you are a bitch but not to me?”
“what can I say, it is a piety thing really , you break my heart.”
he threw his head back , laughing when she shoved him, he was back at her side in a few seconds , gently taking her hand in his. she felt as if god finally wanted her to be happy but then she looked up to see her house
“well , this is it,” she said , voice laced with disappointment
“goodnight,”
“you know , I do feel like I want to sober up a bit,” she was already walking past her house,
he smiled and just walked by her, a few minutes later they were back at her doorstep
“goodnight , thomas,”
“goodnight ,” he kissed the back of her hand, she just stared at his eyes for a few seconds smiling and then entering the house.
,in the following morning , y\n was regretting every decision she ever made , she didn’t even drink that much but her body hated her nonetheless .
she laid in her bed , holding the hand the tommy held yesterday and thinking of ways to keep her hands dry and how to never wash them again.
“good morning!” laura barged in y\n room as if it was her own, jumping on the bed beside her friend, y\n just groaned and tried to ignore laura’s existence.
“ I half expected to see a naked  tommy deity  in your bed.” she giggled
“keep praying , god might listen to you.”she was half asleep.
her moms yelling woke her up “darling! get up! there is a....guest waiting for you.”
the pausing made y\n open an eye and look at her friend , they both seemed to think the same thing
laura pulled y\n and pushed her into the bathroom
“change and freshen up , your mom never pauses so its either our sex deity or satan” she closed the door on her friend.
laura stood by the door and then helped her half asleep friend change and look somewhat alive.
“I swear if it isn’t him , I will murder you.”
“just thank me when he’ll get you a nice diamond ring” she told her friend as they walked down the stairs and into the living room. y/n was scoffing when the sight of tommy awkwardly sipping tea as your mom stared at him,
“oh, wonderful ! just make yourself at home dear , y/n be polite with your guest” her mom got up the moment that she walked in and just left the room with laura
“your mom doesn’t like me at all”
y\n smiled “why are you here ? not that I mind” she sat beside him on the sofa
“I wanted to check on you” he sipped the tea almost shyly.
“I am good , my head feels like it might explode but other than that I am peachy” she sighed
“ you weren’t even drunk” he looked at her ,
“I was drunk enough to get you to like me” she winked at him and he laughed
“are you still drunk?”
“I might be” she shrugged and he smiled , again.
“I will take you out on a date tonight” he demanded
“you know , gentlemen ask for things like dates” she raised a brow
“fine” he cleared his throat “would you like to go on a date with me?”
“I would love to go out with you , thomas” she smiled , then she leaned and gave him a very gentle kiss on his cheek
thomas is not a soft person, but the moment that her lips touched his cheek , he felt himself melt and he doesn’t mind that at all.

Hello World
Na jaemin x fem!reader, Feat. 00 liners
Summary: Wait, humans suddenly disappeared? well isn’t it fun? you get to do whatever you want now but no one will be there for you anymore. You’re completely alone in a world that seems to be dead but is that Really it?
Tumblr media
It’s been hours since you woke up, you’ve been wandering around the city but you haven’t met a single person yet. You also checked your phone but all your contacts, photos and all the files in it are gone, there is also no signal. It was quiet, too quiet it was hurting your ears. There’s no wind or any birds chirping and especially, the people are gone, it feels like the world isn’t alive at all. “i swear if i’m in Alice in borderland, im going to kill myself” you said.
You went to the mall market but the food seems to be expired already, seriously for how long did they disappeared? but at the fruit aisle there were still a few fresh fruits, you weren’t a big fan of fruits, you hate it but you have no other choice, all the foods are expired even if it isn’t you don’t know how to cook at all. Well, you can cook instant noodles and eggs but that’s all.
And of course because you’re alone, you jump on the beds at the furniture aisle while singing “five little monkeys jumping on the beds” not until you heard a loud thud nearby, you quickly hide under the blanket. Minutes passed nothing happened, maybe something just accidentally fell.  Yeah ACCIDENTALLY
Tumblr media
Months have passed, everyday feels the same, like you’re on a loop it’s sickening, are you really alone? or maybe your just dreaming. You tried pinching your arm, it hurts but nothing changed the world is still empty... dead. You’re running out of food, Your gonna die alone, no one is going to mourn your death. “Oh god oh god..” you pulled your hair and cried.
“I don’t want this, i didn’t ask for this.. I miss everyone” you said and hugged your knees.
.
.
.
.
.
“Here”
“Huh?” you immediately looked up, a guy with jet black hair beside you is offering you a handkerchief, you ignored it and wiped your tears with your hands, he looks away and puts the handkerchief back in his pocket. There’s a lot of stuff running in your mind right now, you feel happiness, sadness, and anger at the same time. You snapped out of your thoughts when he waved his hand in-front of your face. “I think they forgot us and went to mars” he joked but it didn’t move you.
You were too busy scanning every inch of his face, why the fuck he looks so healthy compared to me.. maybe he’s a robot?
He was in the middle of talking when you suddenly poked his cheek, “oh wow you’re real” you said, he laughed and removes your finger away form his face. “Yes I am real”
You keep asking him about everything, he tries his best to answer your questions. “Before all of this, i like being alone, it relaxes me, you know just vibing with myself but not this alone” he explained.
“I know, waking up thinking it was another normal day and the next thing you knew the people are gone, I might have you now but you might suddenly disappear too or me. Back then I’m scared to die, cause when you die you can’t do anything you want anymore, it’s just like dreaming forever, but for me this is worse” You said.
He took your hands and looked at you in the eyes, it was beautiful but the person who have it is sad. He wanted to changed that “Let’s make the most of it while we still have each other, I’m Jaemin by the way you?” He smiled.
His smile was beautiful and calming, almost like a free therapy, it made your heart skipped a beat “I’m y/n” . And so you two did, you shared each other’s favorite stuffs, read books together, danced in an empty street while raining, watched the sunset, played board games, and put on some expensive clothes and pretended like you guys are in a fashion runaway.
“You see that three stars together? My mom said those are the three Kings, oh there’s the orion!” You said pointing in the starry sky, you and jaemin are stargazing on top of a hill. He stares at you lovingly while you keep telling him about the meanings of each constellation you point out in the night sky. “I love you” he said out of nowhere causing you to stop.
You looked at him, his eyes sparkling “I love you too you know that” you said.
“No like LOVE love” he clear up.
Jaemin looked away, “It’s fine I can wait, I have all the time in the world”
Silence..
“It’s not like there’s someone who’s going to stole yo-“ when he looks back at your spot you were gone, it was as if you had suddenly disappeared like a bubble. “Y/n?” He stands up and starts looking around for you, his breath getting heavy, his vision starts to get blurry as tears formed on his eyes. Jaemin dropped on his knees and looked down. Just when things started to be fun, one had to disappear. Now he’s all alone again.
•••
You slowly opened your eyes, your vision cleared up and a white ceiling is the first one that greeted you. You felt a dextrose which is injected into your right hand. Wait, what are you doing in a hospital? you were like fine seconds ago.. and where’s Jaemin?
A woman entered the room, she looked middle aged based on her hair which has a few white strands. You were surprised when she suddenly jumped in joy when she saw you were awake, she fishes her phone out of her pocket and dials someone’s number. “Honey come here! our daughter is finally awake!” after that she cuts the line and hugged you. “Mom?” you said. She cares your hair softly “Im glad you can still remember me, i’ll go get the doctor wait here okay?” you nodded.
Your mom leaves the room, you sat there in silence. Was is it all a dream or am i in another dream right now? what about Jaemin?
Soon the doctor arrived with your mom, no, with your whole family. The doctor asked you a few question and you answered them effortlessly, “Your daughter is doing fine now, we can arrange her documents so she can leave in few days, and i recommend to let her rest for three days before going back to business.” the doctor explained.“Thanks doc” you heard your dad said, the doctor nodded and leaves the room along with their nurse.
“I don’t remember what happened, how did I ended up here?”you asked, they all sat beside your bed. Your mom held out your hand and rubs it with her thumb. “You got hit by Car, you were comatose for 8 months we thought we were going to lose you” Your dad explained. You forced a smile, you don’t know what to do in this kind of situation so you just looked down.
You looked up after you felt your stomach growl, “can i go to the cafeteria? im hungry”you requested.
Your mom accompanied you to the cafeteria while your dad and older brother decided to stay in your room, you were surrounded by a lot of people you felt different. You want to tell your family about what happened and especially Jaemin but they might think your silly. While your mom is ordering food, you are looking for an empty seat. You weren’t paying much attention infront of you and bump into someone, luckily they catches you before you kiss the floor.
“sorry i’m so sorry i wasn’t looking” you apologized.
“no no it’s fine i wasn’t either” the guy smiled, he felt familiar, it feels like you already met him but where? “oh wait y/n? it’s you, glad you already woke up!” he said and hugged you.
“i’m sorry you are?”
“i’m Jeno, we’re classmates remember?, i came here to visit you and visit my friend jaemin also-”
“Jaemin? did you just say Jaemin? where is he? is he okay? wait is he here? please tell me it’s just high fever or he works here?”you asked.
“Oh Y/n there you are, let’s eat?” Your mom interprets the conversation, “he’s in room 25, 10th floor meet me there” Jeno said and left.
“So Jeno’s here too?” Your mom asked.
“Yeah he’s supposed to visit me but we met here so he’s off to his friend now” you explained, you were happy to hear that Jaemin’s here but felt guilty after you remembered you suddenly left him at the hill.
Tumblr media
After you finished eating with your mom, you told her you’re going to room 25, she still accompanied you there but she just waited outside the room. When you got inside you immediately saw Jaemin sleeping peacefully in his hospital bed with his life support. He’s sleeping, does that mean he’s still in that world? Alone?
There are tears trailing down from your cheeks as you approach his unconscious body, “h-how long has he been like this?” you asked Jeno, he stood beside you and pats your back even though he has no idea how you knew his bestfriend. “3 years, brain infection”
That night you prayed a thousand times, hoping that in your sleep you would return to that world to be with Jaemin again and tell him you love him too. Eventually you got there, to the place where you guys usually hang out but you didn’t met him, you looked around for him but you couldn’t even see his shadow. Or any trails he left behind. He just disappeared like you did before. Morning came, afternoon, evening, a day, and a week. You didn’t woke up. You were trapped in there again.
Tumblr media
Kicking a can out of your way as you took a road to god knows where, you lost count on how long you’ve been trapped but it almost felt like a year or more “I wonder if Jaemin already woke up”
“He hasn’t” you turned around and saw a very tall figure of a man wearing black suit, “But he will, just not now. I believe your time is up miss” you took a few steps back away from the man. “Haha very funny, I know you’re just trapped here just like me” you said and started to walk again. “What you call ‘here’ is where lost souls go who still have a chance to live but you don’t, your brain is starting to shut down and the doctors back in the real world are trying to save you with a defibrillator” he explained. You stopped in your tracks. So now you’re dying? you haven’t pretty much done all your goals in life yet.
“I-I’ll go back! I will woke up!”
“Haha we’ll see miss, three days, I will give you three days, if i still spot you wandering around here you have no choice but to come with me” he smirked, he snapped his fingers and poof! he was nowhere to be seen.
•••
“You seriously don’t remember her?”
“No... why? Do I have to?” Jaemin sipped his black coffee.
“I don’t know, it’s just that after she woke up she went to see you, she was crying it’s kinda...unfair”Jeno explained, ever since Jaemin woke up Jeno’s been trying to tell everything about you but it doesn’t ring any bell to him. “Unfair? What? It’s my fault if i can’t remember her? I’ve been asleep for 5 years and so is she, how the hell— argh nevermind” Jaemin face palms himself.
“C’mon Jeno don’t force him to this, he can’t be stressed” Renjun said.
“Yeah yeah right sorry” Jeno apologized.
They all went back to their business, silence filled the room. Renjun and Haechan are focused on their phones, Jeno looking outside the window, and Jaemin drinking his favorite drink. Jaemin was dozing off until a certain memory from his dream played in his mind. He was in an empty grocery store with a girl, everything was clear except her face, her voice was also mute. “I like canned bread, it’s kinda good” Jaemin said out of nowhere.
His friends looked at each other in confusion and back at Jaemin, Haechan scoffs “since when have you eaten canned bread?”
Jaemin’s unable to answer, he swear he have. Jaemin shruggs “Nevermind”.
Tumblr media
12:30 pm, Renjun and Haechan already left since they still had school tomorrow. Same as for Jeno, he’s just waiting for Jaemin’s mom to arrive so he could go home, he didn’t want to leave his dear friend alone. The Tv is on shopping channel, the air conditioner was off but it’s still cold. They couldn’t sleep. As Jaemin spaces out, he hears this familiar voice of that girl again, she was singing. It was annoying and relaxing him at the same time, he couldn’t understand why he feels such feeling towards a girl who only lives inside his head or is she really? Her face is still blurry but he can finally hear her voice loud and clear. “Hey little train we are all jumping on..the train that goes to the kingdom...” Jaemin sang quietly.
“Where did you heard that?” Jeno ask.
“Someone... I don’t know” Jaemin replied, Jeno shook his head and puts his attention back to his phone. It keeps happening, Jaemin saying things out of nowhere, facts about him that sounds fake but aren’t , its just that, it didn’t happened in reality. “I used to hear y/n sing that a lot when she still attends school, it’s kinda annoying to hear the same lines over and over again but, her voice is beautiful.” Jeno shared.
silence...
“I want to see her, that girl you keep blabbering about, I want to see her” jaemin said.
“But you’re still not allowed to leave your bed until the doctors said so?”
“Do you think I care? I’ve been in this bed for 5 years it’s time to get up” Jaemin hops down the bed and puts his slippers on, he goes at the door and peeks outside. “There’s no one around let’s go” he says. The hallway was empty and quiet, the nurse who was appointed at the receptionist desk was in deep sleep. It was so easy for the boys to wander around without staffs standing in their way.
There’s no one inside y/n’s room at the moment, she was still unconscious, a nasal cannula place around her nose as it gives her oxygen. “She got hit by car, woke up after 8 months and went to see you, she didn’t woke up again after that” Jeno explains.
Jaemin held your hand, it was cold as ice, i never met you but how come i feel like i already knew you like the back of my hand?
•••
“I can’t decide whether I should take her or not, I’m already late for my given deadline argh” the black suit guy whom you met earlier was watching you from afar kick a vending machine again and again, you weren’t hungry or anything, well you can’t feel any hunger anymore, you’re just an empty lost soul who’s not yet ready to go. “Something is holding her back, like a thin red string attached on her back that trails back to the real world” he rest his head on his palm.
He teleported right in front of you, “it’s only day one what are you doing here?” You ask him.
“Listen missy, I’m just doing my job okay? Just come with me and you’ll be at peac—“ he was cut off when he hears a heartbeat, your heart beat. It was purple and it’s glowing, “what’s happening? What’s happening?!” You shook him.
“Hold on hold on, I’ll get my handbook” he snapped his finger and an old big brown book appeared out of nowhere, he used his powers to flip the pages until it gets to the page he was looking for. He puts his glasses on and reads the text. “Well it seems like your not coming with me anymore, any moment now you’ll come back to the real word BUT you won’t remember everything” he explains.
“Is it temporary? Like after a long time I will regain my memories?”
“I’m afraid not, but at least you’re coming back” the grim reaper hears you sigh,he looks away and flicks your forehead. “ah! what was that for?” you glared at him while rubbing the spot he just flicked. “I did it so you won’t lose your memories, it’s against the rules but it’s my first time doing it so i guess i won’t get fired entirely. Maybe just a few punishments” he shruggs.
“why? why did you cross the line?”
“i want to see how it’s all going to end... don’t worry much kid, i have other back up jobs”
Tumblr media
5 days later
“Finally! shit!” You cheered, you’ve lost count on how many tissues you used to remove the ink from your face. 3 minutes before you woke up someone’s kid got inside your ward and drew on your face. Your family was crying and laughing at you at the same time, you were confused at first until your brother handed you a mirror. You dump all the tissues at the trash and went out the bathroom, you were with your brother at the moment because your parents are still at work. 3 more days before you’ll finally be discharge and another 3 days for you to rest at home before going back in action.
You went to the couch where your brother was peacefully sleeping, he’s pretty much also knocked out because of work. You don’t want to disturb him anymore, so you went outside to look around, it’s boring if  you just stayed in your room. You found a large garden at the ground floor and went in there, the sunlight is illuminating the whole garden, it just rained a while ago so it looks like there are crystals glued to every plant and flower. All of it shines beautifully. The place looks like those beautiful sceneries in anime’s. Back then at that world everything looks cold, lifeless, almost looks like grey.
You went to the main spot of the garden, the wishing fountain. “Hey little train wait for me.. i was held in chains but now im free” you sang, you stare at your reflection from the water and tucked a strand behind your ear. “I’m hanging in there don’t you see?” out of nowhere, you heard someone whispered the lyrics, you got startled because of it and fell towards the fountain. What if it’s a ghost? You’re in a hospital after all.
“Oh my god i’m so sorry! here let me help you up”
“Good thing i have-- Jaemin?! wait, is that really you?” your eyes widen, you feel your heart beat faster and got goosebumps. He wasn’t wearing a hospital gown anymore, that means he got discharged before you did.
He giggled “why don’t you poke my cheeks again like you did last time?”

im doing to start working on EVOLVE this week! i already have some drafts ready and im so excited to share the final work with you guys!!
fun fact: this scenario was originally written for EVOLVE but i decided not to put it in the story! :)
[NONE OF THE FOLLOWING WORKS HAVE BEEN EDITED OR PROOFREAD YET]
-
“Why are you here?”
Y/N’s fists stayed clenched besides her to stop her hands from shaking.
It was cold today, much like the gaze Bakugo Katsuki had set upon her as soon as she had approached him.
He hadn’t looked at her like that for a while now.
“What are you doing, Katsuki?” Y/N’s voice found its way out of her mouth, her eyes never leaving his.
“What do you think dumbass? I’m leaving.”
The silence that followed hung around the two for a few seconds, the streetlight lamp above their heads flickering occasionally.
“What do you mean?” Furrowing her eyebrows, Y/N tried her best to remain patient.
“What the fuck do you think? I’m leaving U.A. My job here is done,” he rolled his eyes. “Frankly, I’ve over welcomed my stay.”
He turned back around, beginning to walk towards the gates that led to the city that lay outside of the U.A grounds.
They were already outside after curfew and getting caught was not an option. The last time they’d snuck out together, Aizawa had given them detention for a week.
Y/N rushed towards him.
“Katsuki, what are you talking about? What do you mean you’ve over welcomed your stay?”
Bakugo remained silent, his footsteps still thundering towards the metal gates.
Confused and slightly agitated, Y/N reached out to grab his shoulder. As soon as her hand touched his body, he turned around to slap it away.
Recoiling her arm, Y/N’s eyes immediately flooded with hurt.
“Katsuki, what’s the-”
“STOP CALLING ME THAT!”
Bakugo’s eyes were as hard as stone, his voice echoing through the emptiness of the evening that had settled around them. His figure loomed over Y/N’s and for the first time in months, a sliver of fear slid through her body.
“Who the fuck do you think you are? Why are you even following me?”
“Kat-Bakugo, I just saw you leaving the dorms and wanted to make sure you’re okay. I’m your friend...” Y/N managed to say, shrinking underneath his harsh gaze.
Friends. Friends. Friends.
Friends who kiss. Friends who hold hands. Friends who-
Bakugo let out a laugh and for once, Y/N found the sound to be unpleasant.
“Friends? What, you think you can feed me some bullshit and I’ll forget what I really came here for?” Bakugo folded his arms across his chest, crimson eyes blazing with disgust. “You, your words and your ‘friendship’ means nothing to me.”
Y/N’s body stilled, the flash of a memory she usually smiled at causing her eyes to screw themselves shut.
Y/N listened to Bakugo rant, his hands moving as rapidly as Iida’s. Normally the two would be at each other’s throats but today had ended up being different.
During training, Bakugo had been paired with Denki. The two had sparred like they usually would but Bakugo finished the fight with a blow so strong, Denki over exerted himself to the point where he became too dumb to respond. As Mineta and Mina rushed to pick him up, Mineta had decided to give his unwanted opinion.
“Damn Bakugo, sometimes I wonder if you would be better off as a villain.”
Usually, Bakugo would fly Mineta across the room for even speaking to him. But today he had turned around, eyes blank and exited the gym.
Y/N had caught sight of him leaving and decided to follow him. Before she knew it, they found themselves seated on the grass right outside the dorms with Bakugo talking at the speed of light.
“That piece of shit needs to keep his mouth shut before I rip all of the balls off his head. We were sparring, it’s what heroes do to train. It’s not my fault Dunce Face spasmed out of fear and rendered himself stupid. I mean yeah I could’ve gone easy on him but we’re training to fight the best of the best! Does he really think the bad guys will look at him and think, ‘Oh let’s just not attack this one!’ But that pint sized freak had to go and call me a villain!” Bakugo continued to scream, Y/N facing his side as his hand gestures began to get more violent.
Bakugo didn’t understand why he was so mad. Was it because Mina and Dunce Face had been around to hear it? Or because Y/N was nearby and she had witnessed the entire thing?
After all, what Mineta had said was tru-
Interrupting his ranting, Y/N reached out and placed a hand on Bakugo’s shoulder. Her touch was hesitant and so were her next words.
“Look Bakugo, you have raging anger issues and you tend to scream too much. You’re intolerably arrogant and you like to boss people around,” Y/N began, her gaze fixated on the blatant glare Bakugo was shooting her.
“Princess, if you’re going to insult me, at least-”
“But you are one of the strongest people I know,” Y/N continued. “You are brave and smart and so passionate about being a hero that we all overlook the fact that we want to run you over sometimes.”
Bakugo rolled his eyes.
Y/N realised later that the next thing she said is what really helped Bakugo open up to her. And for him to open up to Eijirou and Denki and the rest of the Bakusquad.
It had made him realise that she looked up to him despite his obvious flaws and had decided that he was worthy of her time.
Of her friendship.
And for some odd reason, Bakugo’s heart had filled with unfamiliar warmth at the sight of her smile.
He knew it was wrong. It was so wrong to let his guard down like this but just sitting next to her made him feel so at peace that for a moment he forgot that her smile towards him would eventually become rare sight.
“You are not a villain Bakugo Katsuki.”
“Bakugo, if you’re talking about-”
“Just fuck off. I don’t need you to hold my hand and tell me everything will be okay,” Bakugo snapped. “You will never understand the pressure I am under.”
“Bakugo please, I am your friend. You can talk to me,” Y/N pleaded. “I don’t understand what’s going on but I’m sure we can figure it out together.”
Bakugo barked out another laugh, just as unfriendly as the last one. He uncrossed his arms only to lean down to Y/N’s height.
“You will never understand. Let me make it clear to you L/N, you and I were never friends. You were just some naive little bitch I used as a distraction to get my job done,” Bakugo sneered as Y/N’s eyes started to water.
Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Don’t cry.
“You are weak and vulnerable and stupid. And you always will be. Do not come looking for me. I don’t want to be found or saved if that’s what you’re going for. Don’t try to come after me either or I won’t hesitate to blow you up.”
With that, Bakugo turned on his heels, continuing his journey towards the gates.
Y/N kept her head down, the tears in her eyes threatening to fall any minute now. She willed herself to stay strong, not for herself, but for Bakugo.
She knew he was just trying to say all those things because he wanted her to stay still. He wanted to make her feel pained enough to not chase him. To not come after him.
But he was still Katsuki.
Katsuki, who woke up early to make her breakfast every morning before class. Katsuki, who pushed her to train with him so she could get stronger. Katsuki, who stocked his mini fridge full of her favourite ice cream because she always crashed in his room. Katsuki, who held her hand the entire night when she fell sick a couple of weeks ago. Katsuki, who had hugged her close before whispering the words ‘You’re still a dumbass.’ and pulled her into a kiss. Katsuki, who had promised he’d never leave her.
Fuck. Move Y/N.
Just as Y/N managed to gather all of her strength to lift her foot one step closer, Bakugo paused.
Without bothering to even look at her, he landed his final blow.
“You know I’m glad the League tortured you the way they did when they captured you. After all, it was my idea.”
Y/N didn’t know what happened next.
All she remembered was her knees crumbling under the weight of her emotions only for her tears to flood her face faster than she had managed to fall in love with Bakugo Katsuki.
-
Kirishima awoke to a soft knock on his door. He rubbed his eyes, shifting to check the alarm clock he’d place on his bedside table.
3:45AM.
Who the hell could it be at this hour?
Irritated and still a bit drowsy, he slipped out of his warm bed to approach his door. The knocking continued, albeit a bit harder this time and Kirishima threw the door open.
“Calm down a damn min-”
He paused, eyes meeting Y/N’s.
With her face red and puffy, Y/N pushed past him to seat herself onto his bed. Confused, Kirishima closed the door behind him and switched on the lights in his room. That’s when he realised how shattered Y/N truly looked.
Dried tears streaked her face, her body shivering. Her knees were bruised and her hands would not stop shaking.
He had never seen her like this.
“Y/N, is everything okay? Do you want me to call Baku-“
Before he could finish, Y/N interrupted him.
“He’s gone,” she said, lifting her head just enough for Kirishima to see how lifeless her eyes were. “He... he was helping the v-villains.”
Suddenly, it felt like somebody had punched Kirishima in the gut.
“Bakugo’s the U.A traitor.”

warnings: blood, mild violence, swearing, drinking, drug mention
words: 3.1K
excerpt: The smell of her own ship was a damn relief. Mos Eisley always seemed to leave a thin layer of stink and grime on her skin that took multiple showers to scrub off. Stepping into her shower, she began to attempt to do just that.
She indulged in some hot water, since she’d been able to pick up extra power cells in the town. Taking full advantage, she dialed the temperature high, the water nearly burning through her skin. She stood there, reveling in the ability it gave her to feel something so vividly. Even if it was pain.

The edge of the knife bit into her skin, and all she could think as blood welled up was how damn cold it was.
“I asked who the fuck you’re working for,” the man snarled into her ear, putting on what he no doubt imagined to be an intimidating face. She wasn’t impressed. “And why the fuck would you be snooping around Corran Felth’s personal residence?”
Her hands twitched where they were tied together tightly with cord. She cursed herself for letting this guy get the jump on her as she exited the building, assuming that she’d been too quick for anyone to take up wait in the alley.
It had been sloopy on her part, she had to admit that. And she knew why. Despite accepting the client’s down payment, she did not see this quest coming to fruition, so her heart wasn’t really in it. Though some would say she didn’t have a heart to begin with — but the pounding of her own pulse in her ears said differently.
He snarled and opened his mouth again, but she’d already decided that this was enough antics for one job. She delivered a sharp jab with the heel of her bound hands into his abdomen, leaving him gasping from the unexpected blow.
“You little bitch, I—”
As he spit his venomous words at her, she felt the pressure on her throat leave, opening her window. One of his hands tightened where it grasped in her hair, and she reached up to grab the corresponding wrist, propelling him by it into the nearby wall. When his hands left her, she grabbed him by the back of his head, smashing it into the wall a second time. There was a satisfying crack.
“Idiot,” she scoffed, lowering down to grab the knife that had left a small nick on the side of her throat. Flipping it around, she cut her hands free. If he actually knew what he was doing, he would’ve just cut off her hands instead.
She patted him down, turning out his pockets. Instant caf packets, baggies of spice, a small collection of credits… she sighed. Not what she was looking for. This was probably nothing more than a street runner — albeit a stupidly brave one.
Pocketing the knife and credits, she rose and exited the alley, pulling her collar up higher over her neck. Not that anyone on Tatooine would really bat an eye at fresh cuts — but she was nothing if not careful.
With the suns just beginning to set, the streets of Mos Eisley hummed with its seedy nightlife. The only place where someone like her, who bathed in violence and destruction, could ever really fit in.
Music poured from the ajar doors of the town cantina, and she hesitated outside of it. Hell, one more try at a lead couldn’t hurt. She had the extra credits to spare, after all.
There was an open stool at the bar against the opposite wall from the door, and she felt a few knowing pairs of eyes fall to her as she walked towards it, but she ignored them. A reputation was always an asset in her line of work, so she was content to let minds fester. The bartender eyed her weapons belt for only a second before serving her a drink happily.
The liquid burned her throat on the way down, just as she’d hoped it would. It didn’t taste particularly good, but Mos Eisley wasn’t known for its fine dining and cocktails. Moisture gathered on the outside of the drink, and she ran her index finger along the glass slowly. A scar stood out along the knuckle.
“You come here often?” A husky voice spoke up from beside her. She turned slightly, eyes roving up and down, taking in the rough man who had pulled up to the neighbouring stool. His hair was dark and seemed like it hadn’t been brushed in years, and his skin shone with grease and grime. A pretty standard Outer Rim pond hopper.
“Too often,” she muttered, bringing the drink to her lips again. “And you?”
“Ya know, I get ‘round these places every so often,” he leered at her, leaning in closer. She shifted slightly, not moving any closer but adjusting her jacket over the knife belt across her chest. “Name’s Zeth.”
“Liana,” the lie rolled off her tongue smoothly. “Ya know, I was actually supposed to meet with someone here … have you ever heard of Corran Felth?”
At the name, his eyes narrowed, but a smile played at the corner of his chapped lips. “Yea, I ‘erd of ‘im. Not any courier going through Eisley who hasn’. Now what is a pretty thing like you doing meeting a Tatooine drug lord, mm?”
She rolled her eyes, but matched the upturn of his lips with her own. “We had some business regarding some new … merchandise he was interested in market testing. I have some connections he thought might be useful. I don’t suppose you know anything about that particular economy?”
“Ah, ’fraid I really don’t,” he sighed, and she knew he was being honest as his eyes scanned the bar behind her. “Wish I could help ya, but I did hear a rumour, just between you ‘n me…”
Now she did lean in, her hand falling lightly on the edge of his wrist. She didn’t miss the way his eyes briefly flashed there. “Yes?”
He let out a breathy laugh. “Strange he agreed to meet you … rumour has it, he been off world for months. Some nasty business ‘bout a girl he knocked up who’s in with the Hutts … they were none too happy about it as you can imagine.”
She raised an eyebrow at that. “Really? You’re sure about this?”
“Listen, all I knows is he likes to take nightly scrolls through the hangar I dock in. Haven’t seen heads nor tails of him in a long while.”
Taking a long swig to finish her drink, she smiled at him, fully grasping his wrist in her hand. “Well, I’m grateful to you for saving me all that time waiting. Have a nice night, Zeth.”
He looked a bit disheartened as she turned away, but by the time his brain could even formulate a response, she was halfway towards the door.
Leaving the cantina, she rolled her eyes, kicking a stone down the street. Of course he was off world. Of fucking course.
As the hangar bay loomed in front of her, she keyed in her entry card, registered under the same name she had given Zeth. Her own ship was parking a few lanes back, nestled among some smugglers and traders, but she header for the ship she knew was waiting in the furthest back corner of the bay.
A small droid floated outside the ship. When she approached, it flashed red light at her, and she stood still as it gave a retinal scan. Upon confirming her, it gave a happy little beep, and the ramp creaked slightly as it lowered.
“Liana, my dear, I do hope you’ve brought me good news.”
A large Klatooinian stood in the hold of the ship, arms clasped behind his back. She stopped in front of him, the ramp staying open behind her. Moonlight filtered into the ship around her figure.
“I think you know I don’t, Arn,” she told him coldly. “The word around Mos Eisley is that Felth’s not even here. Hasn’t been for months now. I searched his home, dug through his logs … no mention of the strain you say he stole.”
Arn fidgeted uncomfortably. “Just because he isn’t here, doesn’t mean he can’t be holding it with his men. Did you even check the lieutenants?”
“You look me in the eyes and tell me honestly that you would trust something like this with any of your lieutenants.” She glared at him, and waited for a beat to pass. He fidgeted more. “That’s what I thought. You’d keep it close to your chest. And since there was a man stationed outside of Felth’s home, I’m very inclined to believe the local gossip that he’s gone. It was dusty enough in there.”
“So what happens now? If it wasn’t Felth, do you have anything on who actually stole from me?”
“Frankly, Arn, this job has begun to bore me. Too much Tatooine isn’t good for the soul, you know? So as per the non-recovery clause of my contract, you’ll receive a holopad of the relevant information I did find, no further payments required. I’ll be keeping your non-refundable deposit, of course.” She pulled a slim holopad out of her jacket and extended it to him. He grumbled, but took it nonetheless.
“For someone they call ‘The Finder’... along with those prices …” he continued to grumble as she turned to leave the ship. She shot a look of venom back over her shoulder, hoping it made him shiver at least a bit.
“I am the Finder, Arn. There was nothing to find.”
The smell of her own ship was a damn relief.
The hot water made the scars stand out against her reddened skin. As she washed, she catalogued them, as she often would. A long, winding, and narrow one wrapping around her right forearm. A short, jagged one sitting nearly in the centre of her chest. The one slashing diagonally across the left side of her abdomen, that disappeared below the waistline of her pants when she was dressed. And in the small mirror at her eye level, the thin but noticeable scar that ran over her blue eye, stopping just shy of her lip. Her other eye, unsettling brown in contrast, sat on her face unmarred.
She secured the towel under her arms as she settled into the pilot’s seat, turning to the comm panel. She hit the audio switch.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Miss Finder!” a deep voice boomed from the panel. “I must say, I was a tad worried you wouldn’t pick up. You’re hard to get a hold of these days.”
She smirked despite herself. Greef Karga’s jovial spirit in the face of even the seediest business always amused her.
“You’ve caught me at a good time, I suppose,” she said. “I just finished up a job, was taking a night in.”
“A very good time indeed, then! You see, I’m calling for the purposes of a job I have in mind for you!”
“You know I don’t do bounties, Karga. If I wanted to be in the Guild, I would be.”
“Of course, of course! It’s a job fully suited to your own contract, off the Guild books. For me.”
That did have her interest. Every once in a while Karga would call or even visit and try to convince her to become one his hunters, telling her it was so similar to what she did, and he had all the infrastructure. But it wasn’t the same.
“Let me guess — I have to come to Nevarro for full details?” As she spoke, her fingers traced the lower half of the scar on her face subconsciously.
“You know me too well, especially compared to how much I know you! Hell, I don’t think I even know your real name. Something about Halla just doesn’t fit your face.”
“But does it matter?”
He laughed at that. “You’ve a point there, Miss Finder — no, it does not.”
“I’ll see you when I land then.”
Din Djarin was a proud man, and he didn’t like to admit when he’d made mistakes. But he was starting to think he’d done just that.
Sitting on the upper portion of another damned rockface, pulse rifle beside him, he rolled the small metal ball between his fingers, as he’d done countless times. The surface of it shined. All that was left of the Razor Crest. All that was left to remind him of Grogu.
It played in an endless loop in his head, Grogu’s eyes as he was carried away from him, every nerve in his body screaming that this was wrong, wrong, wrong. They had taken his foundling, his son. And he had just stood there and watched.
He had made a mistake.
The Jedi were Grogu’s people, the ones who had been raising him before the days of the Empire, but he barely knew anything of them, and he wasn’t sure he liked what he did know. In the time since Grogu’s departure, he’d made it a mission to track down more information, but the Jedi were like ghosts in the universe. If he hadn’t met them, he wasn’t sure he would’ve even believed they were more than myth.
That was hard to do without a fucking ship, though. Which was why he was here, taking low level bounties near Nevarro, in a rental ship. Karga had been generous with him, throwing him high volumes of nearby bounties so he could earn the credits to replace what he’d lost. Still, he was barely halfway there. The pace was frustratingly slow.
Motion along the horizon pulled his attention. Stowing away the ball, he picked up his rifle, bringing the scope to eye level. A human man was rushing across the rocks, glancing behind him every few paces. It was his quarry, no doubt. Right where Din had expected him.
Sighing, he slung the rifle across his back, making his way down the rock face. By the time he’d reached the bottom, the quarry was almost upon him, but an outcropping had shielded him from view thus far. Drawing his blaster, he waited a few more beats until the man was well within range, before stepping out, levelling his weapon at the scared man’s head.
“Stop where you are,” he said shortly. The man looked up at him, wide eyed and horrified. “Put your hands where I can see them.”
“L-look man, you can have w-whatever you want, I got some credits in here—” the man scrambled to open his bag, attempting to pull out the mentioned credits, but Din didn’t let him. He fired a warning shot in the ground, just shy of the man’s left foot.
“I said, show me your hands. I don’t want your money, I’m here to collect a bounty on you.” The man sputtered even more.
“T-they sent a fucking Mandalorian after me?! I didn’t e-even think they had the c-credits for—” He was cut off again as Din fired another shot at the ground, by his right foot now.
“I’m not in a patient mood. Hands.”
The man shook as he put his hands over his head, relenting. Din pulled the cuffs from his belt, yanking the man's hands behind him as he snapped them in place. He began pushing the man in the direction of the rental ship.
“If it helps, you weren’t worth much. I’m just in a tight spot.”
The quarry was silent on the entire walk, though Din could see a faint outline on his pants that indicated he’d soiled himself. He almost felt bad for the guy. Almost.
The rental — the Desertwalker? No, maybe it was the Starhopper? — only had space for three carbonite chambers, so he’d have to stop on Nevarro next before chipping away further at the mountain of pucks he was sure Karga had lined up to give him. He was grateful, but also had a feeling Karga was just as happy to unload these on somebody.
After sealing the latest quarry, and his ruined pants, into a chamber, Din climbed into the tight cockpit. People had complained to him about lack of space on the Crest, but this was even worse. His knees hit the panel in front of the pilot’s seat.
He sighed, removing his helmet with a hiss, running his hand through his sweat tainted hair. As he set the course for Nevarro, he returned to contemplating the Jedi, and all the information he did have on them.
His first instinct had been to call them wizards, and honestly he still felt that was an apt description. He’d seen Grogu perform acts he could only describe as magic, moving things with his mind and healing the otherwise damned, and he was only a child. A powerful one, yes, but it begged the question of what a fully trained adult Jedi could do.
Then there were the laser swords — lightsabers. Though still no match for beskar, they were impressive, and seemed to be less of a weapon and more of an extension to their bodies. His eyes fell to the darksaber, hilted on his belt. He didn’t necessarily like carrying it around, but it felt immensely foolish to leave such a thing unguarded on a ship. Still, he much preferred his rifle and his blaster.
Beyond their powers and lightsabers, information on the Jedi was scarce. That was the core of their mythos, but any practical details seemed to have been washed from time. How did their training work? How did one graduate? Did they swear oaths? If they did, what did they entail? Din’s mind was constantly buzzing with questions that it seemed no one in the galaxy had the answers to. He felt helpless. And he fucked hated feeling helpless.
He leaned his head back against the seat, watching the characteristic vivid streaks of hyperspace fly past the window. So many stars, so many planets, and his son was on one of them, doing Maker only knows what. Without him.
He had made a mistake.

Chapter 7: Turn Back Time
Reader’s POV
A crescent moon lit up the night sky and the grass remained damp from the recent storm, crickets and frogs sang nearby. The wet, muddy terrain on the hill worked my calves as well as ruined my shoes. My escort finally dropped me off at the stones. Though I know it's odd dropping a strange woman off at a landmark in the middle of the night, he never asked any questions. The atmosphere was dark and cold, part of me felt scared to go back. There is always the chance that the stones could send me to the wrong time period, or even further back. I found love here, and even friends of my own. At least what I thought was love, even if the feelings were not mutual. How could someone so sweet and loving towards me flip within an instant. I questioned if I truly knew Eivor at all in the time I spent here.
Everything changed through the years, but the stones remained the same. Unchanged by any shape or form of mankind. People have come and have gone as they have sat and watched patiently. I wonder whether people have even noticed my absence and how I would explain where I was. It's difficult bearing the truth but having no one to tell it to otherwise I’d be deemed insane. I was back where my journey started, in the same spot engulfed by the tall rocks around me. The standing stone I had touched previously stood directly in front of me. However, I couldn’t bring myself to touch it as if a magnetic force was pulling me away. My name echoed in the distance from a voice I could recognize no matter how far.
Eivor stepped down from her horse with caution and let out a groan. Her knees appeared weak as she stumbled towards me and her voice dry and tired. I still felt anger towards her and wondered why she didn't just apologize earlier.
“Y/n, wait!”
“Why, Eivor?”
“Im sorry, I’m drunk and I can't think right now. Please, forgive my harsh words… You deserve more than what I can offer you. So I…”
She paused and placed her hand on her stomach before dropping to her knees. I quickly moved her hand and lifted her undershirt to reveal she had been wounded. Though I’m not an expert, It was clear to see the wound was deadly. Eivor reached her hand outwards towards me for support. I screamed out her name whilst the anger in my body was now replaced with fear.
“Eivor, get up!”
She could hardly keep her eyes open and her body refused to stand up. For once, I had no time to think of what to do next. Running on pure adrenaline, I reached behind her and grabbed underneath her arms in an attempt to drag her but she was too heavy. My panicking only worsened from that point forward.
“Eivor, I need you to help me please… Just for a moment.”
Her eyes flickered with what little fight she had left in her body. I placed her arms around my neck, holding her wrist. This allowed her to place less of her body weight on me as I led her to the stone. She groaned in pain and could barely support herself. I quickly pulled her free hand onto the stone alone with mine.
This is the only way…
Eivor’s POV
Consciousness started to return to me as a bright light shined in my eye, I could make out the voices of other  people around me. Everything was colorless, only white. For a moment, I truly thought I had died. I looked up to strange sounds coming from a machine that had cords hooked up to various parts of my body. Men and women wearing white coats surrounded me and they seemed to somehow know my name. I sat up to get a better view of my surroundings and my jaw dropped, unable to fix the frown on my face. I began to tug and pull out the lines connected to me and a woman advised me to stop.
“Where am I? Who are you people?”
“This is a hospital and we’re trying to help you. I need you to lay back down.”
The lights around me were so bright and everything so foreign, I felt genuine fear forming in my body. They mumbled towards one another, words I could not make any sense of. The woman in front of me started to fidget with a set of tools near my bed until I grabbed onto her wrist and she flinched. She squirmed and tried to pull my hand off before I finally released her.
“Tell me where y/n is… Please.”
“She's waiting for you outside… Doctor, she's moving too much she needs to be put back to sleep.”
What does she mean put back to sleep?
Before any further thoughts could form I felt a pinch in my arm and my eyes started to grow heavy. I could not fight my drowsiness so I succumbed to it.
Readers POV
I waited outside Eivor’s room anxiously. Thankfully, I had been placed in the exact same time period I had left. Nothing changed and I knew no questions would be plastered onto me by anyone I know. The door to Eivor’s room opened and a doctor greeted me, papers in his hands of x-rays and tests. He was a tall freckled man with thick brown hair and his glasses kept falling from the bridge of his nose. I stood up to shake his hand and waited for him to tell me any news of her.
“So, the wound has been disinfected and is ready for proper healing. We’ve done a few tests on her brain activity and everything is functioning normal. However, she has multiple scars all over her body. They look to be battle scars, oddly enough. I understand you tell me she’s a new friend of yours but do you know anything else about her life?”
“All I know is that her life has been a rough one… Now, when can she be released?”
“Soon. She’s very confused right now, unaware of her surroundings. Perhaps, once she's awake you can help jog her memory.”
“Could I at least see her now?”
“I’m assuming you’re not family therefore, I can't allow that. Leave your number and we’ll let you know when she’s ready to be brought home.”
I jotted down my number with the black-ink pen the doctor gave me. He told me she needs to be aware of her surroundings before any further stimulation. Even if the doctor seemed suspicious, they know only so little. I felt bad on the walk to my car, I didn’t wanna leave her all alone there but there was nothing I could do about It. I feared she would be angry with me once I picked her up. I started up my car and pulled out of the driveway, the rain trickled onto the front of my window and I turned on my windshield wipers. The drive back home was somewhat rejuvenating, being back relaxed me, I didn’t have to witness war and blood every second of the day.
I neared the driveway of my parking lot and pulled in. On the passenger seat my keys laid, I grabbed them and shut the car door. When I unlocked the front door to my apartment everything remained just as It was before, like nothing changed. My cat greeted me with a meow and I replied back with a scratch on her neck before making sure her food bowl was filled. I missed my life entirely, though I hadn’t been gone terribly long, a feeling of deja vu still resonated within me. The night would be long as I waited for my phone to go off. I turned the television on in my living room and kicked back, my cat laying next to me.
Just like old times...
Traveling through time seems to tire me, so I laid back and let my mind drift away.
Eivor’s POV
I awoke from my practically forced sleep. I knew my journey to her would bring me here, to her strange world. Some more clothes would have brought me more comfort rather than this sheet they have me in. My wound was healing nicely, the pain of it wearing away though still sore. Some good ale would help me endure this. The nurses treated me well, making me regret how aggressive I had been in the beginning. My knowledge of the world around me made them suspicious but they knew I was fully responsive. We discussed my release, and they gave me news that I should get ready to go home. One of the nurses placed a bag on the chair next to my bed.
“Your friend left some clothes for you to change into when she left.”
A simple shirt and pants, strange material though. Surely, for such an advanced time I would have thought the clothing would be more complex instead, It was rather minimalist. The shirt fit rather snug but the pants were fine and felt comfortable. No one bared any weapons or armor, I felt nude without anything to defend myself with. Everyone seemed content and relaxed, I envied the people around me and the sheltered lives they had always lived. They walked around completely oblivious, and so did I. The concept was foreign but trying to fit in with the people around me was easy, just act like everything is okay. I heard a knock on the door once I finished dressing and the doctor came in to consult with me. He shook my hand and smiled.
“Hello, Eivor. Your wound is healing wonderfully. How are you feeling?”
“Better than I was.”
“The severity of your wound was extreme, even I’m surprised you made it… Your scars, how did you get them? If you don't mind me asking.”
I threw my hands up in the air trying to spare some time, my voice became soft.
“Oh, you know. Used to be a troublemaker, got into some bad fights.”
“I assume you're still troublemaking since that wound is fresh.”
“This one was an.... accident.”
Reader’s POV
The familiar sound of my phone started to ring. I knocked out so hard, I’m not even sure what time it is. I wiped the corners of my mouth before clearing my throat, the hospital was calling me. Anxiously, I answered the call and It was the doctor I had spoken to prior. Finally, I can pick her up from the hospital. I never got up quicker, throwing on some clean clothes and grabbing my keys on the way out the door. I whipped out of the driveway and headed towards Eivor, I think I may have even been speeding. Upon arrival I made my way to the desk to check into Eivor’s room. I took the elevator and pressed the floor number I needed to go to. Ugh, I hate the smell of hospitals. Disinfectants and chemicals everywhere, yet the taste of nothingness in the air at the same time. I found myself at her room door, and knocked to make sure she was ready for my entrance. The door handle twisted and opened swiftly, my heart began to beat faster when I saw the way she looked at me. I wrapped my arms around her neck and gave her a warm embrace.
“I’m so sorry It happened this way. We’ll get you back, I promise.”
“There’s no need for apologies, you saved my life. These people saved my life, there would be no going back home if it wasn’t for your quick thinking. I will admit for the first time there is true fear in my body for what lies out there.”
I chuckled, sure enough she had the look of fear in her eyes.
“Eivor, there’s nothing to be scared of. Come on, let me show you my home. Oh, I just picked the shirt and pants out real quick, sorry if the fit is wrong. We’re going shopping as soon as possible...”
Eivor looked overwhelmed, perhaps the bright lighting and a bustling hospital was a lot to handle for her. We stepped in the elevator and made our way down, the buttons and how we dropped seemed to fascinate her. When we got outside to the parking lot she was surprised to see all the cars moving fast, faster than any horse could go. When we got to my car I made a short, “ta-da!” movement with my hands.
“This is my humble stallion, she takes me wherever I like.”
Behold, my silver car. A few years dated but in almost pristine condition, I seemed quite proud of myself somehow. I opened the door for her and had to remind her to tilt her head down when entering.
“More of those…”
She pointed at the numbers in my car.
“They're called buttons, love.”
I turned the volume dial on my car and played some tunes. The surprised expression on her face when she heard what we consider music, we shared a look before smiling and laughing at each other. The moment was short when she ran her fingers over the functions, the radio station changing repeatedly and the heater kicking on and off… Like a child in a candy shop, touching everything in sight. Though I was trying to contain my laughter, her face remained serious and extremely focused. I got on the road to go back home, making sure to play some of my favorite songs for her entertainment.

It had hardly seemed to be long before the moon began to fall in the sky, and the sun peered itself through the low clouds. Aragorn had set off to collect firewood. He had no issue leaving you to protect the others on your own for he had seen you fight before. When you heard a little moan, you turned to look at the members of the Fellowship. Sam was sleeping soundly, his cheek squished up against his arm. Merry and Pippin were both drooling with mouths wide open. Boromir had his back to you. Gimli was clutching his axe – and snoring intensely. Legolas’ hair still looked perfect and tiny little snores escaped him every so often. Gandalf’s eyes were wide open, and he muttered in his sleep. Frodo was sat up. His eyes were wide, and his hand was clutching the fabric over his chest. He swallowed thickly.
“Frodo,” you whispered. “Are you alright?”
“Just a nightmare.” He admitted and you frowned, inviting him to sit beside you.
“What was it about? I heard if you tell your nightmares, they do not come back.”
“This one comes back.” Frodo looked at you, his eyes full of worry. “I dream that the Ring will take me. Or that it will take all of you, and I will be forced to continue the journey myself. But I fail.”
You sighed. “There is not much advice I can give to you, Master Baggins. Only to take every day as it comes. Do not fret about what the future could hold, Frodo. Focus on the present, as much as you can.” A silence fell over you for a while. Frodo turned to face you.
“Y/N?” You looked at him. “Why did you not want me to take the Ring?”
“It is a huge burden to bear. I feared it would be too much for you. But you have proved me very wrong thus far, Frodo Baggins. I hope you continue to prove me wrong.” The two of you shared a smile before you decided to wake up the others. Frodo woke the hobbits whilst you knelt beside Legolas. You placed a gentle hand on his shoulder before you called out his name. His eyelids slowly began to flicker open and you softly smiled at him.
“Good morning, Legolas. Wake Gimli, would you?” A smirk tugged at your lips as you turned to move towards Boromir.
“Wouldn’t you rather do it?” Legolas protested. “I am sure you’re a sight he would rather see the moment he wakes up.”
“Why do you say that?”
He gave you a knowing look. “He sleeps holding his axe.”
You laughed. “The Mirkwood Prince is afraid of a dwarf. I never would have guessed that.” Legolas scoffed and you grinned at him. “I will wake him. Help Aragorn with the fire when he comes back.” He flashed you a smile and you giggled, shaking your head. You turned to Boromir.
“It is time to wake, Boromir. If you could hurry, we want to travel in daylight.” He chuckled tiredly at your words.
Aragorn had come back with the firewood and the Fellowship quickly breakfasted. Sam was very happy to see that you had eaten on your own accord. Then, you set off.
~~~
The next predicted stop was a few days journey away. It did not seem to take as long as you thought that it would. But Pippin began to get restless, constantly mumbling something of his hunger. Eventually, Gandalf – who had had enough of Pippin’s “whining” – decided that the Fellowship should stop to regain health and stamina. The stop was well timed, you thought, before we continue on the passage south, a quick camp might just be what we need.
Boromir decided to train Merry and Pippin in some defensive skills whilst Aragorn watched, shouting instructions to them. Frodo and Sam perched themselves on a rock, food in their hands. Legolas was scouting the area, presumably searching for any danger with his elf eyes. You had sat yourself beside the wizard, for you much needed to speak with him about Frodo. You were growing worried for the hobbit. He awakens frequently in the night, you had noticed, perhaps due to the nightmares that he had told you about, but you had yet to confide with anyone else about them.
“If anyone were to ask for my opinion, which I note they are not, I would say we were taking the long way round. Gandalf, we could pass through the Mines of Moria. My cousin, Balin, would give us a royal welcome.” The wizard’s face dropped at the mention of the mines and he shook his head at the dwarf.
“No, Gimli. I would not take the road through Moria unless I had no other choice.” Gandalf declared, a nervous look in his eyes. You frowned.
“What is it that you fear, Gandalf?”
“It is troubling… I cannot say.”
“Gandalf, I—I am worried about Frodo. I fear he is struggling to rest. He told me of nightmares that he endures. I do not know how to help.” You confessed. Gandalf sighed.
“I fear that also. However, Frodo seems to be doing fine as of now. We will keep an eye on him, hm?”
“Four eyes.” You nodded and shared a smile with the wizard. Your eyes wandered, watching Legolas as he stepped to a different rock. Standing, you moved towards him, catching sight of something beyond the clouds.
“Do you see that?”
“What is it?” Sam asked.
Gimli scoffed. “Nothing, just a wisp of cloud.”
“It’s moving fast. Against the wind.” Boromir added, holding tight to Merry and Pippin. Legolas’ face faltered.
“Crebain from Dunland.” He affirmed and your eyes widened in shock.
“Hide!” Aragorn cried. He grabbed Frodo, running to Sam who made the brilliant decision to put the fire out. Boromir ran with the other two hobbits, finding a hiding place that would suffice for the three of them. Legolas took your hand instinctively, pulling you under the cover of a nearby bush. It was large enough to shield the both of you from sight, but he protectively held you close anyway. You could feel his breath on your face. His hand was still clamped in yours. You swore you could hear his heartbeat, or perhaps that was your own, thumping vigorously from the adrenaline.
The caws of the birds insisted on your attention, your eyes watching them each time that they circled the area before they flew back off in the direction that they had come from. You and Legolas resurfaced. You looked around to check everyone was alright while Legolas’ gaze held on the birds.
“Spies of Saruman.” Gandalf grimaced. “The passage south is being watched.”
“Where will we go?” You asked anxiously.
“We must take the pass of Caradhras.” Gandalf said, already beginning to lead the way. You let out a breath, walking alongside Legolas.
It was light again when you made your way up the mountain. The ground was a blanket of white velvet, creasing only when footsteps trudged muddily through it. The path Gandalf took you on was winding, moving left to right and up and down. Eventually, the Fellowship came to a slowly ascending hill. It allowed you all to finally pick up pace, so you began fast approaching on the pass of Caradhras.
The change in pace was not great for some, however. As Frodo’s feet were dragging through the thick snow, he clearly began to get overwhelmed by the vast amount. The snow reached his knees, perhaps even further up his leg. His feet failed him, and his body crashed into the snow, tumbling a little way down the hill. His body managed to flatten out at Aragorn’s feet, and he helped him up. As soon as he was upright, Frodo’s hand plunged into his shirt, his hand groping at his chest to find the Ring. Only it was not there.
Boromir crouched down, plucking something from the snow with his fingers. The chain twinkled against the Ring as it was brought to his eye level, gently swinging from left to right before his face. Frodo’s brows knit together, and Aragorn watched Boromir curiously, his hand moving to the hilt of his sword. You frowned.
“Boromir.” Aragorn called, but he seemed unbothered.
“It is a strange fate that we must suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing.” Boromir said, though not particularly to anyone. “Such a little thing.”
“Boromir!” He looked at Aragorn, clutching the Ring tighter. “Give the Ring to Frodo.” Aragorn commanded and Boromir stayed still for a few moments before stepping towards the hobbit. He hesitantly held the Ring out to him. Frodo took no time at all to snatch it from his grasp.
“As you wish. I care not.” He chuckled, ruffling Frodo’s hair. Aragorn’s dark eyes never left him as he continued walking. When Frodo was way ahead of Aragorn, you held back to speak with him.
“What was that?” He looked puzzled. “Your hand on the hilt of your sword. Tell me you had no intention of harming him.” He sighed at your words, not exactly knowing how to respond.
“Tell me!” You urged.
“It was just to be safe, Y/N. What if he were to have taken it, what then?”
“He wouldn’t.”
“How do you know?” He asked. You scoffed, hurt that he would even question it. “You said it yourself, the Ring can’t be trusted in the hands of Men.”
You frowned. “I know Boromir. He wouldn’t take it.” Walking ahead, you caught up to Merry and Sam. Aragorn’s words took a toll on you, and you glanced back to Boromir, offering him a smile. He returned it for a second before it fell from his face and he avoided your gaze. You trusted him even if no one else did.
~~~
Quite soon a blizzard began to attack the path. The others trudged through the snow, Gandalf leading the way by attempting to clear the snow with his staff. You and Legolas stayed behind. For some reason you were able to almost hover on the snow, like you weighed nothing. Your feet left barely an imprint in the thick. The falling snow seemed to glue to every part of the others, but when it fell onto your figure, it seemed to melt away almost instantly. You wished that the journey would be easier for the hobbits. If you could trade your position for theirs, you would do it in a heartbeat. You hated how it was so troublesome for them but not for you.
Suddenly Legolas drew forward before everyone else and you joined him, looking out from the mountain. Small murmurs of wind came rushing past.
“There is a foul voice on the air.” He said.
“It’s Saruman!” Gandalf cried. A huge crash came from above. As you looked up, Legolas gently grabbed you, pulling you back so your back was flush with the mountain, his body shielding yours. You looked over his shoulder, watching as many rocks were forced down from the top, plummeting past all of you.
“He’s trying to bring down the mountain! Gandalf, we must turn back!” Aragorn yelled, his face troubled, grasping Sam and Frodo tightly. He held them tight to his body.
“No!” The wizard began chanting to counter Saruman’s, but to no avail. An echoing clap of thunder startled you, and the mountain shook in pain, shedding more rocks and snow. It came crashing down, smothering you in an instant.
You resurfaced with a gasp, looking around. Legolas was the only one you could see. Your hands fondled through the snow, searching for any of the others. A hand grasped yours tightly and you heaved them out of the snow. Wiping their face to remove any excess snow, you saw a shivering Sam, one who’s cheeks were bright red from the biting cold. You quickly undid your cloak from around your neck, wrapping it around his small frame and he breathed, snuggling into it for a tad of extra warmth. The others came up out of the snow quickly after.
“We must get off the mountain!” Boromir suggested. You nodded in response, holding Sam close to you. “Make for the Gap of Rohan or take the west road to my city.”
“The Gap of Rohan takes us too close to Isengard.”
“If we cannot pass over the mountain, let us go under it. Let us go through the Mines of Moria.” Gimli advised. Gandalf’s eyes faltered in fear.
He gulped. “Let the Ring-Bearer decide.”
“Frodo?” You asked after a while of silence whilst Frodo pondered the options.
“We will go through the mines.” He affirmed. You breathed in relief.
“So be it.”
~~~
The journey to Moria did not take long. Though to you, it seemed as if you would never get there. The entire time you could feel someone watching you. You did not entirely know why, and you were unsure of whether to ask why an eye was being kept on you.
Eventually, the Fellowship made way down the mountain. All of the snow had disappeared from everyone’s clothes. Gimli’s eyes widened in awe at the sight that appeared before you.
“The Walls of Moria.” He pointed. Your lips parted in trepidation. It was incredible. Not beautiful like Rivendell, or even Gondor. It was simply a wonderous sight. You had never seen anything like it. You quickly made your way around to where the door was supposed to be. But after a while of looking, you could not seem to find it. Gandalf stumbled over to a flat part of the wall.
“Ithildin.” He muttered. “It mirrors only starlight and moonlight.” He turned to face the moon, tutting when it seemed to be covered by a cloud. Then, almost as if Gandalf had moved it himself, the cloud shifted, and the moonlight shone on the stone. It lit up, showing an archway with elvish markings. You tilted your head in confusion.
“Why is it written in Elvish? I thought Moria was inhabited by dwarves.” You asked, looking to Legolas. He smiled at the question.
“The gate was primarily used by elves, despite being made by dwarves. The spell was cast upon it by the elves, so that they could pass to the nearby elven lands.” He answered and you nodded.
“It reads, ‘The Doors of Durin – Lord of Moria. Speak, friend and enter.” Gandalf pointed to each word as he translated it.
“What d’you suppose that means?” Merry questioned, his neck straining as he looked up at the archway.
“Oh, it’s quite simple, If you are a friend, you speak the password, and the doors will open.” He replied. Then he spoke the password, only it did not work. He shifted, attempting to move the doors with force, his shoulder colliding with the stone. You moved away after an uncountable number of unsuccessful attempts. Sam was looking particularly miserable, and so you made your way towards him, kneeling beside him.
“The mines are no place for a pony, even one so brave as this.” Aragorn said.
“Bye-bye, Bill.” Sam sighed as Aragorn shifted the pony away.
“Don’t worry, Sam. He knows the way home.”
“He’ll be safe there.” You reassured and he gave you a small smile. Gently, you rubbed his arm before your eyes widened at the sound of crashing water. You spun around, grabbing Merry’s hand. He and Pippin had been throwing stones into the water. Aragorn leant into Pip’s ear, speaking in a whisper.
“Do not disturb the water.” You gave Aragorn a worried look, swallowing thickly. His eyes scanned back over the water for a moment before he looked back to you. You took the two hobbits from the water, moving away from it cautiously. Legolas moved towards Aragorn. He eyed you curiously.
“I have been wondering, Aragorn, about Y/N. I had heard you speaking with her a few nights ago.”
“What makes you so curious, Legolas?”
“She mentioned a decision that she must make. I have been watching her and yet she does not seem particularly troubled.” Legolas recalled. Aragorn smiled, clapping him on the shoulder gently.
“It is something that she must reveal to you herself, Legolas. I will not be the one to tell her secrets.” Legolas nodded appreciatively at his words.
Suddenly Gandalf threw down his staff, slumping down on a rock beside Frodo. “Oh, it’s useless…” Frodo stood, his eyes scanning the door.
You heard the water crash against the shore and turned with wide eyes. Boromir stood beside you, looking out into the dark. His brows furrowed and he moved in front of you protectively, and to get a better look. You moved further back, holding the hobbits close to you.
“It’s a riddle. Speak friend and enter. What’s the elvish word for friend?”
“Mellon.” Gandalf spoke with raised brows. The door began to creak. It slowly shifted open, spare dust and little stones falling into the cavity where the rock once stood firm. Your eyes could not seem to shift away from the rippling water, an anxiety growing in the pit of your stomach. Boromir turned you away from the water, moving you into the mines with the others.
“Soon, Master Elf, you will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the dwarves. Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone. This, my friend, is the home of my cousin Balin. And they call it a mine. A mine!” Gimli boomed. You chuckled, patting your stomach gently at the thought. You tripped but Boromir caught you, steadying you before he looked to see what you had fell over. You gasped at the sight.
“This is no mine. It’s a tomb.” At Boromir’s words, all of the blackened skeletons that were sprawled out on the stone floor seemed perfectly visible. One or two of the hobbits let out a whimper whilst Gimli cried out, kneeling beside a decayed body. Legolas pulled an arrow out of a skeleton, inspecting the end quickly before throwing it down, drawing his bow.
“Goblins.” He declared. You unsheathed your knives, one in each hand, fingers whitening as they tightened around the hilts. Aragorn and Boromir did the same with their longswords. You looked at Boromir.
“We make for the Gap of Rohan.” He said. “We should never have come here, now get out of here. Get out!” You turned, just as a giant tentacle slithered from the water and wrapped itself around Frodo’s leg.
“Frodo!” You cried, reaching out your hand for him to grab it but were too late. It dragged his body across the floor. The hobbits helped you grab him hastily while he screamed in fear.
“Strider!” Sam called as you managed to slice the tentacle off of Frodo’s foot with his help.
“Aragorn!” You yelled, panting as you checked Frodo for other wounds while keeping a close eye on the water.
Ten or more tentacles abruptly thrust out of the water, fiercely striking everyone in their stomachs. Some noise of shock tore from your throat, your eyes widening in horror as it took a hold of Frodo once more. Pushing yourself to your feet, you kicked restlessly through the water, cutting through the flesh of the creature with a roar.
“Strider!” The shrill that left Frodo’s lips went straight through you. As you stabbed relentlessly at the beast the others joined you. Boromir cut down one arm that moved towards you. The creature revealed itself, surfacing from the water. The Watcher, you thought. It opened its mouth, holding Frodo’s flailing body above it. You tore through two tentacles at once, feeling satisfied when they fell lifelessly into the once stagnant lake. Aragorn swiftly moved to the arm wrapped around the hobbit and heaved his sword right through it. In a split second it submerged into the water and Frodo was in his arms. He lugged his legs through water as fast as he could. You were too busy ensuring that Frodo was now safe that you had not noticed the tentacle that squeezed around your arm. It pulled you back as you desperately tried to join the others, stabbing at it mindlessly with your knife.
“Legolas!” You cried, noticing how his arm was drew back. Digging your knife into the tentacle and drawing it across it, you waited for Legolas to hit his shot. When he did, it hit the monster straight through its eye. The tentacle loosened and you speedily weaved your way through the waves, grabbing Legolas’ outstretched hand and sprinting into the mines with him. You looked back at the monster once you were all safely inside the mines in utter dismay. It crushed the stone. Rocks tumbled down in replacement of the entrance – and exit – and you let out a sigh. The elf squeezed your hand gently before letting go. You sheathed your weapons, which you had shifted into one hand once the tentacle had let you go.
Gandalf summoned a light through his staff. “We now have but one choice. We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard, there are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world.” He led the way hesitatingly.
“Quietly, now. It is a four-day journey to the other side. And let us hope that our presence may go unnoticed.”
Once you had begun walking, Sam bumbled up to you, gently tugging on your sleeve to get your attention. “Are you alright, Sam?”
“Oh, I’m fine, me. Actually, I wanted to ask if you were doin’ alright. That big tentacle wrapped around your arm couldn’t ‘ave been very comfortable.” He said sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. You smiled.
“Thank you, Sam. I’m fine, it hardly hurts at all.” You gently clapped his shoulder and he smiled.
You had hardly gotten very far when everyone took a break. It was thought best to get some rest before the rest of the journey through Moria. You had offered to take the night watch, and Aragorn suggested that Legolas do too, since he is an elf, he does not tire half as much as the rest of the Fellowship. He agreed and soon enough the Fellowship were getting ready to sleep. Only you and Legolas remained awake. You sat with your back against the stone, blowing hot air into your hands and rubbing them together. He watched curiously.
“Are you cold?” He asked and you nodded at him. You watched curiously as he searched through a bag that someone had been carrying. He pulled out a cloak, and gently placed it around your small frame. You gave him a thankful smile and he returned it. “I do not understand. You do not tire. You did not feel the cold at Caradhras, yet you feel the cold now.”
“It seems to differ; I do not know why. In the most extreme conditions, I do not feel anything. When there is little to feel, I feel it.” You shrugged.
“Why?”
“Why do I feel differently? I do not know.” A lie. When he didn’t respond, you let out a silent breath of relief. You knew you could trust Legolas, but you were unsure whether you wanted to tell him. You were already having second thoughts on your entire life plan; another’s input was sure to take a toll on how you felt.
“I noticed you already knew Aragorn.” He said. You nodded at him, not knowing if it was a simple statement or if he was asking you how you knew him.
“Yes. We are old friends.”
“How did you meet?”
You took a breath. “When my parents died, I had nowhere to go. So, I ran. I don’t know where and I don’t know for how long. All I remember was that I was starving and sore. Some creature attacked me, and he heard my screams. He saved me.” A smile fell over your face as you recalled the events.
“He saved me and brought me to Rivendell, where Lord Elrond agreed for me to be taken to the White City, to live as a Gondorian. That is where I met Boromir. He has fathered me ever since.
I owe Aragorn everything. We used to meet up as much as we could. I swore to him that I would follow him, however I could.”
“Forgive me, I did not realise how long I had been talking.”
“No, it is nice listening to you talk. Your voice is soothing.” He gave you a small smile which you returned. He noticed the way that your eyes smiled when you spoke about Aragorn. You crossed your legs, sitting up properly and facing him.
“Tell me about you.” He gave you a puzzled look. “Tell me how you know Aragorn. Tell me about your life.” He smiled, and he did. He told you everything. From a huge battle at Erebor to his father – who seemingly was not very nice to him – telling him to meet Aragorn. Then, he went silent and turned his gaze away from you. It was clear he had remembered something bad.
“What is it, Legolas?”
“It’s nothing.” The two of you sat in silence for a while and you sighed, feeling awful that you made him remember something that he clearly did not want to. Looking around, you caught sight of something where stone met stone. Your brows furrowed together curiously, and you leaned forward to touch it. A smile ghosted over your features when you plucked it, sitting back down normally.
“How beautiful.” You smiled at the flower that perched between your fingers.
“She was.” Legolas mumbled and you looked at him.
“Hm?”
“Oh, nothing.” Legolas said. You frowned, noticing how disoriented he seemed. You cleared your throat.
“Legolas?” He looked at you as you felt your hand out to him, the flower in the centre. “A symbol of our newly found friendship.”
He smiled gratefully, taking it from you. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, mellon nin.” He snapped his head quickly to look at you and you flinched slightly. “What is it?”
“You speak elvish.”
“Oh, yes. Aragorn taught me.” Legolas nodded slowly at your words. You traced the patterns on your knife sheath whilst he kept his eyes fixed on you. He could tell you weren’t telling the truth, but he did not know what the truth was.
Eventually, he sat down beside you. He jumped slightly at the sensation of something on his shoulder, but when he looked and saw that it was only your head, he smiled. You did not understand why, but you began to feel very tired and swore to only shut your eyes for a moment. Legolas chuckled slightly when he heard soft snores escaping your parted lips. He looked over at you asleep on his shoulder and could not help but think you looked simply ethereal. He felt himself drawn to you, like a protectiveness had fallen over him and he wanted to keep you safe and warm. Gently, he swiped his finger across your face to remove the hair that had fell in the way. Your plump lips were parted, and he could feel your soft breaths on his skin. He opened his hand, looking at the flower that you had handed him merely minutes ago.
“Goodnight, mellon nin.”
Listen. LISTEN. When I say I’m stressed I mean I am s t r e s s e d. And stressed means I write painful things. So here you go and I refuse to apologize.
From @im-totally-not-an-alien ‘s prompts #45
7) Cloud winds up in the home of happy Sefikura and is drawn in by the sound of a crying baby.
He can't help but coo and care for them, saddened that these are the children he will never get to have, but greatful he got the chance to meet them anyway. He finished changing a diaper when this worlds Sephiroth quietly complemented his diaper skills from the doorway.
Baby Mine — 1474 words, Sephiroth/Cloud Strife, ambiguous angst
The painful staticky buzzing faded away and Cloud sucked in a much-needed gasp of air, working through a quick breathing exercise to quell the nausea that always accompanied his transition between dimensions. “Mmmfh,” he grunted, forcing his sticky-tired eyelids up. He would have to risk sleep again soon.
No immediate danger. No sounds of battle. Just the quiet rush of air from a nearby vent and the soft coos of a baby. Blinking away the haze of his exhaustion, he spotted the baby in question in an elegant white bassinet swathed in soft purple blankets. Even as he listened, the coos turned to whimpers, then to the whining hiccups that he knew from experience preceded a wailing fit.
Cloud was too tired to really think, so he just acted, padding across the soft white carpet to the bassinet. Baby-fine silver hair and teary, unmistakable blue eyes greeted him. “Oh,” he said softly, his voice suffused with wonder. Under other circumstances he would have been (had been) alarmed and disgusted, but there were no mako tanks and sterile cages here—just a soft, lovingly-constructed nursery done up in white and gray and purple.
“Hello there, sweetheart,” he said. “I bet I know what the problem is, huh?” With his enhanced sense of smell, he could easily tell that the baby needed a change. He didn’t think he was too far off about the baby’s parentage either, considering the way they quieted down at the sight of him.
He knew, somewhere in the fog of his physical and mental weariness, that he really shouldn’t touch someone else’s baby, even if that someone was a version of himself. But then he looked at the soft slope of the baby’s nose and saw his Ma, and...he couldn’t leave the baby to cry, not when he was perfectly capable of solving the problem himself.
He’d be gone in a few minutes anyway. The others might not even notice he’d been there.
“I wonder if you’ll get to meet Gramma Claudia,” he whispered, lifting the whimpering infant from the bassinet with steady, experienced hands. “She would love you. You’ve got her nose, did you know that?” The changing table was nearby, set up in a way he found inherently logical. It took barely any thought to go through the motions of changing a diaper. Along the way, he discovered that his counterpart had a daughter.
He didn’t (couldn’t) stop talking to her the whole time. “My goodness, it looks like the version of your daddy that I knew really missed out, huh? I bet you’re gonna grow up and be just as strong as him. You’ve got his hair already, little lady. I hope you grow up to be a rebel and cut it short. Though, hmm, maybe not, if you inherited my hair. You’d look like a little dandelion.” He smiled, tickling her chubby belly once he’d fastened the clean diaper shut. “A pretty little dandelion, but I’m going to guess that you won’t like that comparison so much when you’re older.”
She cooed at him, waving her arms happily. It didn’t take any thought at all to scoop her back up and cradle her against his chest. For a second, his eyes burned. He wished he could go home.
“Thank you,” said a familiar voice. “You are quite good at that.”
He reacted without thinking, dropping into a high crouch and holding the baby safely to his chest, turning to angle his shoulder toward the voice so he’d be ready to take any blows on his back while curled over the fragile little life in his arms.
Protect, his instincts screamed.
But then his eyes landed on the silver-haired man leaning against the doorframe in sweatpants and a tank-top and he knew he was being ridiculous. This was the baby’s father, and she was clearly well-loved. He didn’t need to shield her (or protect himself), but the instinct was too deeply ingrained in him to stop, even if this man was so clearly different from most versions Cloud had met.
The other Sephiroth didn’t miss a single thing. His eyes swept quickly up and down, cataloging every nuance in Cloud’s posture before they returned to his face. It was a little startling to see round pupils in mako-green eyes, but that alone was enough to relax the tense line of Cloud’s shoulders. He lowered his hand from where it had gone to grab his sword and thought it a little concerning that he couldn’t remember shifting the baby to one arm.
Gaia, he really needed to sleep.
Sephiroth’s eyes were strangely sad. Cloud couldn’t understand why he was so calm, much less sad. A stranger was holding his daughter. Why wasn’t he hostile? Why had his first reaction been to complement Cloud’s diaper-changing skills? Absurd. The man was clearly still a warrior. He should have known better.
As if he could hear Cloud’s thoughts (he couldn’t; Cloud checked), Sephiroth said, “it’s alright, Cloud. I think Claudia would know you no matter what form you took.”
In a split second, Cloud’s throat closed and his eyes burned and even as he wondered why are you taking this so well, he also thought Claudia, and his heart broke a little in his chest. “Well,” he said, coughing when his voice came out in a strangled rasp. “Well. I…” He didn’t know what to say to that. He didn’t know what he could say to that. “Don’t...worry. I’ll be gone in a minute. I just…”
“It’s alright,” Sephiroth repeated, though something uncomfortably like grief flashed through his expression. “She’s happy, so I’m happy.”
Cloud glanced down. Claudia was drifting off in his arm, tiny eyelids staggering up and down as she listened to the steady beat of his heart. Well. Fair enough, he supposed.
Sephiroth’s voice turned hesitant. “Did you...was she…?”
“No,” Cloud rasped, unable to look away from the daughter that wasn’t his. Or, perhaps, unable to look at her father. “No...it...didn’t take much to guess.” He laughed, quiet and unsteady and so, so tired. “Or maybe I would just recognize her in any form she took.”
Familiar tingling had started in his toes, slowly creeping up his legs. He was running out of time. He moved back to the bassinet and carefully put little Claudia back down, tucking the soft lavender blankets in around her. She drifted off to sleep as he gave in for just a moment and brushed his fingers across her rosy cheek.
“I’ll be gone in a minute, don’t worry,” he murmured, then turned and was startled by how close Sphiroth suddenly was. It took everything he had not to stumble back into the bassinet.
“Thank you,” the other man said. He reached out, pausing for a second when Cloud flinched, and carefully tucked his hair behind his ear. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
Cloud looked away, breath frozen in his chest. The tingling had spread up to the base of his spine. He had a few seconds left before the burning started. “No,” he managed to say, swallowing past the painful lump in his throat. “No, there’s...nothing anyone can do.”
He probably would have reacted very badly to the arms that came around him, had he not seen them coming. He didn’t understand it, he did anticipate it. Humans were such strange creatures, and this Sephiroth was unquestionably human, if also stupid enough to hug a cross-dimensional visitor with unknowable intentions.
“I’m sorry,” Sephiroth whispered into his hair. “I wish I could help.”
Cloud shook his head into the man’s collarbone, holding the rest of his body absolutely still as the customary burning sensation began to sear through his veins. “You don’t owe me anything.”
“I do. I do. I love you in all your forms, Cloud Strife, with everything I am. No matter where you came from, it hurts me to see you suffer.”
He should have stayed quiet, but his cynicism slipped through with the pain. “Stupid of you,” he said.
Incredibly, Sephiroth laughed, sliding one hand up to cradle the base of Cloud’s skull. “Perhaps. But I believe I shall do it anyway.” Lips pressed chastely against his temple, which was so utterly baffling that Cloud couldn’t figure out what to feel about it. “You are the strongest person I have ever met, Cloud. Whatever this is, I know you will best it.”
Misplaced trust, thought Cloud, but he couldn’t have said the words aloud even if he’d wanted to. Black, burning pain licked up through his throat and into his head. The last thing he felt before he faded into the spaces between universes was Sephiroth’s forehead pressed to his.
Hopefully the next world would make a little more sense, but he would settle for it being a safer type of painful.
BLACK CAT
Jack laughed as he strode down the sidewalk with his sister Emma. They'd had a normal day of school and the chilly october breeze whirled leaves all around. Emma giggled as she bounced into a pile of leaves playfully before jogging back next to her brother.
Jack pulled out his wallet and hummed.
"Ready for some pumpkin ice cream to celebrate you getting an A on your math test?"
Emma twirled and bounced.
"Yes yes yes! Its pumpkin season! Woohoo!"
Jack smiled as he kept walking with her until they both heard a piercing screech from a nearby alleyway. Emma hid behind her brother instinctively with a frown.
"What was that...?"
Jack frowned and paused also.
"The heck...? Hey, stay here. I'll check it out."
"Be careful, Jack..."
The brown haired boy cautiously walked over to the alley entrance. The closer he got to the commotion the worse he heard. A sniggering voice babbled while a few others laughed.
"Let's glue its tail to its back!"
Another voice chimed.
"No, let's pour the glue in its ears!"
Jack rushed forwards to see three male teens a few years older than him had trapped a black cat in a broken cage. They were harrassing it terribly and one of the boys had a bottle of super glue in his hand. Jack couldn't bear what was about to happen.
He yelled and rushed forwards, slamming into the kid with the glue and it crashed onto the ground.
"Leave the cat alone, you assholes!"
Flustered, all the teens watched as Jack threw himself between them.
"The hell?! Go away if you know what's good for you, punk!"
"It's just a stupid cat! Mind your own business!"
Jack growled angrily.
"Leave it alone!"
The tallest teen hissed.
"Get him!"
Jack's eyes widened and he turned around to shield the cat with his body as all the bullies began to wail on him. Jack took the blows and winced, cringing with every kick and punch until they got bored. They left and Jack slowly sat up. His body ached and stung all over. But the cat was alright. That was what mattered.
"H-Hey...its ok little fella...they're gone. Here, lemme get you out of there."
Slowly but surely Jack pried some of the cage wiring back enough for the cat to yank out of it. The feline rushed a few feet away but turned around and stared back at him confused. After a minute it ran away and Jack sighed. He stood and walked back out to Emma.
"Hey, sorry to keep you waiting."
Emma hugged him and he yelped.
"What happened?!"
"Oh, just had to save a cat from these jerks. You know, cool hero stuff~ Now let's go get you some ice cream!"
Emma nodded and they walked off to the ice cream shop.
The next morning Jack awoke much sorer and groaned. He tried to sit up until he saw something at the end of his bed. He rubbed his eyes and blinked. It was the same black cat he saved yesterday. He startled and jerked back, hitting his head on his bedboard. He squeaked and held it.
"Ow! Fuck-!"
The cat merely watched him curiously and calmly, swishing its tail. Jack saw it had such bright gold eyes that stared deeply and intently, but they meant no harm.
"What are you doing here? How did you even get inside my house?"
The cat stayed silent and still. Jack blinked and groaned.
"Alright you gotta go. Come on."
He slowly got out of bed and reached for the cat, but it jumped away from him onto the floor with a chirp. Emma came through the door and gasped when she saw the cat.
"Jack lets go, we're gonna be late for the movie--! Is that the cat?! It's so cuuute!!!"
Surprisingly the cat seemed content with Emma picking it up and hugging it.
"Yeah, but its gotta go. And so do we. Come on then."
He gets dressed and goes with her downstairs to the front door. They walk out and stroll down the sidewalk into town. Suddenly the cat begins to squirm and meow. Emma frowned.
"Huh, whats wrong kitty?"
It jumps down from her arms and meows at them loudly. It rushes forwards and turns around constantly to see if they are following.
"It wants us to follow it!"
Jack shrugged.
"Emma if we go that way, we'll be late for the movie."
She pouted and looked back at him.
"No we wont, come on!"
Jack sighed and followed along. The cat leads them down to the end of the block and stops in front of a black oranate metal doorway with golden painted etchings all over. The cat pushed the door open and ran inside. Emma giggled and followed.
"Wait kitty!"
Jack looked more concerned now, not wanting his sister to rush into someplace dangerous.
"Emma, wait, stop!"
He went in after her and slowed down, seeing all sorts of whacky looking artifacts and trinkets everywhere. The place was only illuminated by candles and everything was mostly the colors of black and gold. Jack was relieved to see Emma staring into an beautiful crystal ball on top of a round table in the middle of the room.
"This place is so cool, Jack!"
Jack walked over to her and kept eyeing around the room.
"Uh, yeah, but it's also a bit creepy. Never too early for Halloween I guess. Where's the cat?"
"I dunno. I lost it. Maybe it lives here! We brought it back home, yay!"
Jack gently nudged her.
"Alright, now lets get back to the movie, huh?"
Emma sighed.
"Aww but I like this place!"
Just that moment a tall man stepped out from behind a drapery of black velvet curtains. Jack gasped and instinctively stepped in front of his sister to protect her if need be. The man was lithe and draped in a gorgeous black silk robe with delicate golden lace all over the neck and arms. He also wore a sparkling golden feathery boa around his neck. His hair was ebony black and his eyes glinted gold in the candle light.
"Good afternoon, children~ How may I be of service?"
Jack felt oddly uneasy about this man and forced a smile.
"O-Oh no, we're sorry to intrude. We were just leaving, really--"
The man tisked his tongue and chuckled.
"It's no bother at all~ Im always happy to have guests. My name is Pitch and I am a fortune teller by trade."
Emma gasped and squealed.
"Really?! Jack, let's get our fortunes told! Pleeeease!"
Jack eyed her.
"But I thought you wanted to see the Perfect Princess Ponypal movie?"
"We can see it next week! Please please please!"
Jack sighed and smiled a little. He couldn't say no to her.
"Ok ok, we can. How much is it?"
Pitch smiled and motioned to the table.
"For you two, I'll make it free. Come, sit."
Pitch sat across the table from Emma and Jack. Jack sat and watched as the man sprinkled some golden powder over the crystal ball. It began to swirl around in various colors.
"Now then. Who's fortune shall we tell?"
Emma piped up.
"Jack's!"
Jack rolled his eyes and laughed a little. Pitch nodded with a smile.
"Very well~ Now let's see. Your aura is a beautiful snowy white, my boy. How interesting indeed."
Jack watched Pitch carress the crystal ball with his finger tips and the coloring inside turned all sparkling white.
"Woah, that's cool. What does it mean?"
"You put on a tough exterior show, but deep down you are as soft as the first snowfall in winter."
Jack flustered a tad.
"Eheh, yeah ok. Sure."
Pitch smiled and eyed the young teen curiously.
"I'd like to read your palms, if you'll allow."
"Uh, sure."
Jack held out his right hand. Pitch gently took it im his own and began to trace some lines softly.
"Very interesting. You're going to live a very long fulfilling life it seems. You have untold strength and destiny awaiting you."
Jack laughed a little, not believing it because fortune tellers were always just cheap parlor tricks and observation.
"Wow. Who knew."
Pitch smiled and looked directly at him.
"Give me that ring on your necklace."
Jack's blood froze. It was a gift from his departed mother. He hesitated.
"I...uhm...ok."
He slowly took it off and handed it over. Pitch accepted it and gazed for a minute quietly.
"Fascinating..."
Jack eyed him oddly.
"What?"
"This ring is a treasured memory of yours. From your mother, yes?"
Jack felt a lump in his throat and uneasyness in his stomach. How could he have possibly known that? Unless he'd been spying on them somehow. Was it something to do with that cat? No, that's crazy...
Jack held his hand out urgently, not comfortable being there anymore.
"Uh, thanks, but I just remembered we have things we need to do at home."
Jack took back the ring and stood, grabbing Emma's arm and tugging. She groaned in upset and confusion.
"Jaaack, no we dont-!"
He interrupted her sharply.
"Yes, we really do. Come on, we need to go now."
Pitch stood and eyed Jack with his own sense of unease.
"Jack, please, I didn't mean any harm."
Jack didn't answer. He knew this felt like a bad idea. Just as Jack got to the door, it suddenly locked itself. Jack's eyes widened in fear as he grabbed and yanked at the handle.
"W-What the hell-?! Unlock this door right--"
Jack whirled around, but Pitch was right behind him. It was a split second before Jack felt Pitch's hand on his head. Instantly Jack slipped into a deep sleep.
When the boy awoke he realized he was still in Pitch's home. He jerked up and looked around frantically. Why did he feel so cold? He jumped up off the bed and paused. Why wasn't he feeling sore from his injuries? In fact, he felt better than ever before, like a new energy was flowing through him.
No, he needed to find his sister. Who knows what awful things that creep could have done to her. He rushed out from the small bedroom area and down the stairs into what appeared to be the kitchen. He saw Pitch cooking some eggs and growled.
"Where is Emma?! What did you do to her, you sick bastard!?"
Pitch blinked and glanced over his shoulder.
"Oh good, you're awake! Now we can get start--"
Jack lunged and slammed into Pitch, shoving him down to the ground. The teen grasped his hands around Pitch's neck and began to choke him with a strength he never knew he had. Pitch tried to pull the boy's hands off, but he wasn't as strong.
"What did you to her?!"
Pitch rasped out.
"Sh..She's f-fine!!! Home, a-at your ho--me!"
Jack began to see frost and ice crystalize its way around Pitch's neck and face as he choked him. He suddenly let him go and backed away in fear.
"W-What the hell-!? What was that?!"
Pitch coughed and gasped for air, clutching his neck. He wheezed and eyed the teen cautiously as he rasped.
"Look...L-Look..."
Jack seemed confused until Pitch pointed frantically at a huge wall length mirror nearby. Jack glanced up and then did a double take with horrified eyes. He slowly walked over in mortified shock. His eyes were blue now and his hair was white as snow, instead of both being his normal brown.
"What did you do to me-!? I--I--! Where's Emma--the stupid fucking cat-?!"
Pitch stood up and slowly approached.
"Jack, I am the cat. Im just repaying you for saving me in the alleyway."
Summary- Curtis x Y/N. You and Curtis reunite, deal with some issues in the valley and reconnect 2 of the groups. Tension between you and Curtis. Warnings- Violence
Word Count- 5.3k
Chapter 6 / Masterlist
Tumblr media
The firing from above was surprising, You and Johanna witnessed Wilfords old guard squad shout out in alarm and close ranks retreating. Johanna lowered the rifle, and breathed out hard enough to flip the hair that fell in her eyes back. “I dont know who it is... but they are pushing them back.” You sneak a peek out to see if you can catch sight of anyone, but thats when you hear the cry of alarm behind you, and you pull back, disappearing inside. Following your name being cried out, you see where someone got a ricochet. It had luckily lost some of its momentum, but still embedded enough to cause blood to blossom all over there shoulder and clutch at it to stop the bleeding.
“Shit” You try to drag the man into the nearest light without making yourselves possible targets. “Shirt off... Whats your name?” You ask as you maneuver him, grabbing the hem of his shirt and start to pull it over his head.
He grunted as you lifted the shirt over his head. “Mickey... we was trying to get the kids into the back once we heard the firing started, but not fast enough apparently.” His eyes watered a bit, but other then that, he stayed perfectly still.
“Yea it got pretty dicey there for a bit. Does anyone have a knife?” You start hold out your hand till someone shoves a military grade blade into it and you start cutting off pieces of clothing off one of his shirts, and directing him to sit down, so you at least didnt have to go to your tip toes to dig out the shard. “Okay Mickey, Im gonna be as quick as I can, promise. Just please dont move.”
“No worries Miss, I can handle it.” He took a deep breath and nodded in affirmation that he was ready. Lets get this done, you coached yourself, never actually having removed anything like this. Your head tilted and the tip of your tongue stuck out as you started to use the tip to wedge along one side. Mickey was true to his word and stayed still, allowing you to dig further into his flesh till THERE, the tip slid underneath and you could pop it out “Got it!”
Wadding the piece of cloth against the seeping wound, you are careful not to touch anything as his blood was all over your hands. “Be right back, keep the pressure on it.” John stepped in to monitor him as you make your way back to Johanna who was looking through the scope up at the cliff. “Son of a bitch, hes gonna do it....”
“Safe to go out and scrub my hands you think, and do what?” You question as you look over her shoulder, and Johanna drops the scope to look without the assistance to the top of the cliff. “This bastard, hes gonna jump down., OH HELL THERE HE GOES!” This is when you lean out and your jaw drops.
Curtis pulled back the rifle when he thought he saw you, holding his breath, hoping for another glance, anything to confirm it was you he saw. Rolling away from the edge, and up to his feet, he paced the edge for a moment. “I gotta get down there now, do we have any rope?” He asked the person closest to him, the man shaking his head and asking another nearby. Resounding negatives sounded, and Curtis just didnt have the time to search the train cars for any. Looking over the edge, he studied the way down, noticing small juts of ice build up on what he guessed were ledges, he formed an idea. Was it crazy? Most likely, but what the fuck. Sliding the rifle strap over his shoulder, he held it out to anyone close by. “Give me an axe, Im gonna need you all to cover me while I make my way to the train car.”
The man whom he had asked for rope earlier looked down the side as if studying what Curtis had been looking at, frowning for a moment in thought, then his eyes widened. “Man you cant.”
Curtis didnt even pause as he hefted the axe, checking it was one with the sharper blades, and swung it around in a loop once, twice, three times to loosen his good arm. “Man I am.”
“Thats could be a damn suicide jump. Your gonna break your legs, even with the deeper snow at the bottom, you have no clue whats down there!.”
Curtis shifted to the edge, turning his body so that his good side holding the axe would be close to the cliff wall. “Yea well, I might not know what, but I know who is down there, and who knows when those fuckers will be back.”
CURTIS EVERETT, I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DIE, YOU AND ME BUDDY, WERE THROUGH.
No were not, and I will be fine, trust me.
Trust you? Fucken hell Curtis your lucky I do.
Thats my girl.
And it seemed like he just stepped off the edge, plunging the axe into the snow and ice on the side, it slowed him down slightly in his descent, and he was able to steer himself enough to land on the ledge he was aiming for. For all of five seconds.
It gave out from under him “Oh shit” he exclaimed as he dropped down, trying to smash the axe head back into the side, it finally went in, but he just sped up more, bouncing off the wall once in a while, fuck his ribs. Well they are definitely broken now if they werent before, and all around him white rolls of snow started shifting, and racing down with him. Soon it was enough to be considered an avalanche, and he landed heavily at the bottom, a dumping of snow landing on top of him.
You jumped out of the train, with Johanna leaning out trying to catch you and stop you from taking off. But you rolled out of her grip. “Y/N! Come back, its not safe!” But damn it, you werent paying attention to anything but Curtis falling down the side of the cliff. HE JUMPED! THAT BASTARD JUMPED, GOD DAMN IT CURTIS! you screamed internally as you plowed your way through snow almost to your knees, falling every now and then, and struggling to get up, the whole time your panicked mutters of “nonononono” filled a bit of the silence after the snow crashed on top of itself at the bottom. By the time you reached the cliff face, all around you was just white swirls where the snow had yet to properly settle. “Curtis! Where are you?” You yelled out, looking all around you, but nothing, just white. Unsettled wisps blowing in your face.
“Come on baby, answer me” your voice is starting to panic as you start searching under you, for anything Curtis shaped. If hes trapped under the snow, hes going to suffocate, sobs of fear escaping, and tears brimming your vision. You plunge your arms into what looks like the deepest snowbank and dig like your life depended on it. It did, it did depend on it. Why was he so fucken stupid? Jumping off a cliff, god damn you Curtis, if you leave me alone here... Your wheezing, completely unaware he had come up behind you, and in true Curtis fashion, he grasped your hips and swung you around. Shocked, your looking up at those familiar blue eyes, adrenaline had blown his pupils wide with the rush, and he to is panting, clumps of ice and snow in his beard and his whole face is red where it had been covered in snow. For seconds your just staring at him, but then, you let him have it.
Your fist comes against his chest in a rage, bouncing off his pecks, and your just raging at this point. “what the fucken hell Curtis, you could have DIED! You idiot! Died, dead, gone, no more, do you hear me?!” He allowed it for a bit, but then he caught your hands and drew you in as the sobs of fear broke from you, struggling in his hold and grabbing his face, that damn face you love so damn much it hurt, one you were so scared for and mad at and just beyond relieved to have back because you were hurting all over and wanted to sink into his arms and be told that it was gonna be okay, that damn face. You crashed your lips against his, kissing him fiercly and possessively, only breaking apart when the loss of air burned your lungs and your head swam with dizziness.
“Dont you ever do something like that again! God your such an Idiot, I love you” your forehead leaning against his, and his eyes looked in yours and you could see that he would again without question, and before he could say that, you nip his lip softly to keep him quiet and roam your hands over his chest and pull back. You werent allowed to go to far, as he yanked you back  in, his own hands searching you for anything out of the norm, cupping your face and placing a softer, but no less desired kiss on your lips “I wasnt going to leave you down here baby, I thought Ive lost you endless times over the past few days. I knew I saw you. I had to get down here. Especially with those fuckers coming for you.”
Your hands slide into his coat, and that familiar warmth starts to seep into your burning cold fingertips and his oversized hands wipe your face dry, kissing across the cheeks and your nose to calm you down, leaning his forehead once more against yours. “You couldnt ask me to leave my girl here and not to to get to you, right?” And with that, your anger dissipates much like the remaining snow crystals in the air that swirl near you, your combined heat melting them away. Relief floods you and you sigh, leaning into him, God I need you so damn much. His arms enclose you and for the first time in days your okay.
“All of it, they said they were just toying with you the entire time.” You breath out and pull back enough to look at him. “Did you get all the way there? I assumed so once the train derailed.”
Curtis was going to have to tell her all that happened, and that was the big news about her brother, in that he was dreading. Not that her brother was alive, but what they twisted the man into. He nodded, and decided it would have to be later, once they were safely settled, could he break the news to her then. “Yes, we lost good people.... but they got me to the front, got me to Wilford. Come on, we have to get out of sight. I have a few people up top to cover us.” You didnt inquire anymore at the moment, following along in his footsteps as best as possible, your hand still fisted in his, loathe to let it go. You could easily see he was hurting, the way he took jagged steps. But you woudnt know more till he would really let you look him over No guns had to be fired, and maybe there luck was turning around.
Johanna had the gun trained on Curtis till You stepped around him and waved your hand that it was okay, and she pulled back. As you two approached, Curtis climbed inside and held out his hand, greeting her with a thanks. “Damn glad Y/N had you with her Johanna.” She nodded her your welcome and turned to you.
“If your planning on moving anyone, theres a couple who are beat up pretty bad. Your friend Sara is definitely suffering from blood loss, and we got to relocate a few shoulders.” Hearing the women discuss the injuries, Curtis was relieved it wasnt anything worst. But as he caught sight of the survivors, he knew why. There must be more casualties then survivors. They were a weary bunch, the kids all huddled together, sleeping or whispering to themselves, adults wandering back and forth unable to relax, some leaning back against the wall, holding there arm or shoulder from where it came out of joint in the fall. “Has anyone been able to go through the cars?” Curtis asked as you came up beside him.
“No, once we landed, I got the kids to gather supplies, and then the guards tried to collect us. We bolted right out and headed to the cliff face. Others followed us. Paul told me that his cart had usable food in it and thats as far as we've been able to plan ahead." John came up to join them, listening in and introducing himself to Curtis.
"Probably would have either went into the other cars today, see if anyone survived the night or tried to find a way up. These are all the back end cars.... Short of the protein blocks, no other usable supplies. Old threadbare blankets, maybe some clothing." John mentioned, leaving Curtis nodding in agreement. He was right, all the usable supplies were in the front, they went through several freezer carts of beef and chicken, a garden cart, a bit of live stock in another, even an oversized tank that might still have usable food in it, he was sure once the train derailed any heating system went off, and it might all be frozen solid. And then not even mentioning supplies such as medicine and other goods. As Wilford mentioned before, it was an entire enclosed ecosystem. One that Curtis ripped wide open now.
"Theres a group up there waiting for us... The last of the tail enders and a few others, simple fact is we gotta move everyone up. Safer for us to be in a group then spread out, especially with Wilfords old buddies.” Curtis said that last part sarcastically, and you glanced at Curtis.
“Well we cant climb up the way you came down, especially with people like Sara. Someones got to find a trail if there are any”
So it was decided a couple would go look along the cliff face, see if there was a reasonable way up, John volunteered along with another man. They bundled up as best they could, blankets draped over there shoulders and they warily started along the trail you and Curtis made earlier. Now onto the next issue, You knew you should have taken care of the out of joint patients, more things like clothing was needed, some of these people were shivering with blue lips and fingertips. Fuck what a disaster. All of it. A hand came to your back and Curtis slipped up behind you as you watched the two men continue down your trail. You leaned back into his chest, and closed your eyes for a minute. Letting everything just go still inside you, just having him back eased you a bit.
“We will be okay babygirl, get them all up and continue on our way.” His fingers brushed aside your hair laying against your neck and he dipped his head to kiss the curve, his lips soft brushes along the length. You enjoyed the sensation for a few moments, familiar and warming. But then enclosed when his hand moved to settle on your stomach and hold you in close, your breathing hitches. Why? Whats wrong? And you fight out of the haze clouding your mind, and pushing his hand back and away, turning to face Curtis. “We probably better get to those patients. Help me with them?” You brush past him and head into the back, frowning at yourself for how you just reacted, knowing exactly what it was, but admitting it was an entirely different story.
Curtis was surprised when you pulled away, about to stop you and ask what that was, but it had been hell for the past few days, so it would be understandable if you werent yourself. Following along with you, you were talking to Sara, who Curtis vaguely recognized from the back end. Lifting the rag she had used to keep pressed against her shoulder. “Im sorry I didnt get this out sooner Sara, but I got to now.” Another mistake, you think to yourself. There is a bit of redness and streaks blooming around it. Fuck why didnt you take care of this last night. With the way she was shot, you were sure there might be more then just a slug embedded in there. “Come on, lets go in the light.” You two go forward and as you pass Curtis, you encourage her to continue where Johanna was perched in the doorway, watching.
“Curtis we definitely need more clothing, something for at least the kids to wrap up in. They will freeze with what they have now out there.” Your almost reach out to touch him, then pull back, stuffing your hands in your sleeves instead.
“Yup, we will get it. Work on Sara and the others, we will be back soon.” He didnt push to touch you or share affection, but you tugged him back and placed a speedily kiss on his lips last minute. A ‘im sorry’ for earlier for yourself, he flashed you look that spoke volumes, then spun away and his voice boomed “Listen up, you... you... and you, were gonna be hitting up some of these cars... you....” Walking away, you felt more in control now, hearing him take control and having a plan in place. Sara was sitting with Johanna, looking exhausted, but holding a conversation.
Withdrawing the knife you used earlier, you have Sara sit in the light, Johanna lowers back to her earlier spot, the rifle hanging out the door to keep watch. Bringing her shirt down enough to take a look at the wound, you sigh. “Like with Mickey, this is gonna hurt like a bitch. And I gotta make sure nothing is left in there.” Sara nodded and once more you dug for the bullet. Sara hunched a bit and did her best to stay still, a gasp escaping once in a while, but overall when she slouched forward into Johanna, you knew she passed out. Good, make this easier.
“Sorry, let me just finish this and we can move her” You state and Johanna nods, moving to cradle the woman while you hear a plink! to the bullet falling out, and a few more pokes and prods, the blood seeping down, hesitant but hopeful that will finish cleaning the wound. “Okay, think shes good.” You use the rag she was earlier to put pressure on it and once it seemed to stop bleeding so much, you two move her, already Sara was stirring much to your satisfaction. “Just hang out here a bit, m’kay?” A nod and wince as she puts the rag back to be sure it wouldnt start bleeding.
Then you went through the rest, relocating joints, checking nicks and cuts. A few people you found out had busted ribs, one had a arm that should be put in a splint, but there simply was no way to do so. “Just... keep it close to your body and dont move it. It will heal, in time.” Putting together a make shift sling with a shirt someone volunteered. Just as you were finishing up, Curtis and a few others returned, arms bundled in clothing, and as you two dispersed them among people, and bundling the kids up, you quietly ask him.
“Was there alot.... of people... ?”
“Yea baby, more then I thought there would be. Some of them, its hard to tell if it was before or after the crash.” He passed off a jacket to someone and looked at you. “Then there were others that just.... Its a lot.”
You didnt push him, ask where he was going with that sentence, you had an idea of what it meant, and you didnt even want to have him have to explain his choice. People dont always survive.
He continued, handing off the last item, and turning to you. “We only went through a few, but we cant wait any longer. And I found where those guards were hanging out, They have been collecting supplies in the further cars, as much as could be had”
You swallow a bit, and keep yourself busy with the thought of them. “Where are they now?”
“I dont know, they wandered away from the cars at some point. Im assuming they didnt have a aim on them up above and they werent coming back around to us.” Curtis shook his head as they started getting people up, moving them forward. “But if they do... “ Curtis rumbled softly under his breath. You pause and rest your hand against his back, inside dreading the coming conversation. He was already so on edge to them being out there. Johanna called then to you two, and John ducked back inside. “Well we found what looks like an animal trail. Goes right up along the side, and looks like its well used. Do you think... theres really something alive out there?”
A shrug and nod from you “Were still alive, right? We can only guess as to what survived after the freeze.”
It was painfully slow, John and Adam, as you come to find out what the other mans name was, led the group, you stayed with the kids, and helped Sara as much as she was able to stand, behind you were more of the adults, including Curtis and Johanna who were making sure no one fell behind. When you finally crested the top, you stepped off to the side, huffing with exertion, the people who had remained at the top cars were helping others inside or near some fires they all were able to start, clearly they had been busy while you all were coming up out of the valley. Curtis came up beside you, a groan of his own as his hand pressed against his left side. “Lets get inside babes, then we can take a break. We all need one.”
Sara was collected and helped to where the other people were recovering, and Tam rushed up to the two of you once you entered the car “Hey, I got the kids, Edgar is sitting up already, and his back is looking much better.” You look confused for a moment, and Curtis shakes his head at you. “I will explain later. Thanks Tam, if everyones set, were going to go settle in somewhere for the night.” Assured that everything would be handled, Curtis led you away, these were similar to the tail end car, just with windows. Curtis was quick to find you two a empty bottom bunk. You crawled in first, and leaned against the wall, your head tipping back. Fuck you were so tired, and he semi collapsed next to you in a similar fashion.
You turn just your head to look at him, and smile when you see hes doing the same thing. There hadnt been any chance to really just be with one another since reuniting and you reach your hand out, weaving your fingers with his. “Hey.... Thank you for keeping your promise and coming back to me.”
He sat up a bit more and let go of your hand, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you in close, placing a kiss to your forehead, whispering. “Im sorry for leaving you like that babygirl. All I could think of was keeping you safe.” You put your hand against his mouth.
“Handsome its fine, I know why you did it. Tell me what happened.” You inquired, and Curtis fell into how he pushed the group through each car, the ones they found that was possible to find supplies and food in for them, how the bridge claimed so many of them, one of whom he thought was Edgar, but that wasnt the case. How Nam wanted to blow open the side, jump from the train when he wouldnt open that final door, and this is where he stalled. He had to tell her. All of it. Her brother, his arm... he managed to keep it hidden this whole time, the pain a background noise at this point.
“Babygirl come here, I just... need to hold you. I really thought I lost you.” He hauled you into his lap, and you tensed up momentarily when his arm circled around you, rubbing your lower back and side. But this was Curtis, you were safe. Under his hand you finally relaxed, and your head rested on his shoulder, he started in on the next part of his story. The rumble of his chest lulled you, while you listened. Wilford offered a deal, and Curtis admitted that he considered it. You lifted your head and looked at him. “You wouldnt have been able to live with yourself” He nodded, and leaned forward to kiss your lips softly. “Your right, I would have become everything I hated. Baby, this next part, you got to listen to me. Okay? the whole part before any questions.”
“Curtis what is it?” Your brow furrows with concern at his words.
“Matt, your brother... Hes alive, and he still is. I left him back at the front.”
Your silent for a moment, and he could see your mind racing, processing his words.
“Hes still alive... Matts still here.” And the joy that crossed your face broke Curtis heart because fuck he was going to have to tell you just how far gone he was, that there wasnt the compassionate little boy anymore. But a man with cold resolve and placed himself above the others, for he was the prodigy.
“Baby, he isnt who you think he is, not anymore.” Curtis hands captured your face to make you pay attention to him. “Wilford trained him to be his successor, brainwashed. He has no compassion for any of the people, were something to control.”
“What? No Curtis, he loved us, He wouldnt forget, unless he thinks I let him go.” Your thoughts are spinning out of control, just what Curtis didnt want. You pull back from him then “He cant be that bad, I mean, Once I explain all that was going on, he will see.” A saddened look crossed Curtis face, reaching out to draw you back to him.
“Baby we can try... but they were using our kids to run the train, put them right into the engine, and afterwards... Executed if they served no more purpose. Under his order, he was set on killing Yona, Nam and I if I didnt agree to there terms.” He couldnt even bring up the way your brother talked about you, the callousness of his words in discussing you, whom loved him more then yourself.
“No... he wouldnt have been okay with it.” Your breathing grows more rapid and Curtis rubs your arms to comfort you.
“I know baby, Im sorry... “ He was doing everything he could to calm you, but it was only setting you off worst. Again you pulled away from him, drawing your legs up and hugging around your knees, what are you not telling him? The only time you pulled away was the weeks after Matt was taken and you withdrew into yourself. “Y/N? Talk to me please?” He wants to reach for you, but you’ve just drawn yourself off, quiet as you stare ahead.
Matt wouldnt, Curtis must have misunderstood what happened. He did what he had to to survive, the conclusions you drew. “You said hes still alive? You had to leave him behind, is he safe?”
His hand dropped to his lap, studying you even as you waited for an answer. “He was safe when I left him and Claude. I was told you went over a damn cliff, I honestly had no other concerns.” His tone slightly clipped, and you can see where hes holding it together under a great strain. You unfold yourself, and return into his hold, feeling him once more relax being able to rest his hand on you.
“They had Timmy, in the engine. Whatever they did to him, he was so unhuman acting. Robotic, he wouldnt come out once Nam and I secured the room.” He shifted you and this is the first time you see the tangled mess of his arm when he slid his sleeve up, deep laceration that have scabbed over criss crossing where the gears tore in, but they were still great tears, all of it swollen, and throbbing looking. “Fucken hell Curtis” You cuss as you finish rolling his sleeve up to look at it. “Youve been like this the whole time? Baby you need medicine in case of infection.” So tenderly you inspected it, you seemed more like yourself now, your mind distracted.
Curtis remained still as you went to roll the sleeve back down, and was gnawing on your bottom lip. “God damn handsome, im so sorry.” Your hands went to his face, feeling for any kind of fever, and giving a small smile when he turned into your palm and nipped the center, kissing your fingertips before letting his head once more fall back against the wall. “You seem to not be fighting off an infection though. But I will feel better once we can secure some stuff from the medic car.” You shift to his other side so you dont risk touching his arm, rubbing your hand along the back of his neck. For now you both go quiet, just being together. This time his hand slides along the inside of your thigh, just resting warmly there. You can feel yourself drifting off, and finally he says softly.
“We should get some sleep” He shifted off the wall, and laid down for the first time in days, waiting with a lifted arm for you to do as you always do, curl in against his chest. Which you did, you always did, and stretching out, scooting over till his arm rested over your hip, he tugged you in the rest of the way. His body is hard against your back, and his beard scratches lightly behind your neck as he placed kisses there. Nothing sexual, just a bit of intimacy after such a long time apart. You cant help but tense up, which he notices when you dont sink into him, how your breathing doesnt soften after a few minutes, and he wants to ask you, make you spill whatever it is your holding inside. But he doesnt, he just stays by your side, his hand moving to slide under your shirts and gently let it rest against the softness of your stomach. Wide awake until finally he hears you release a soft snore, a true testament to your exhaustion.
You laid there, your fingers curled into the ticking of the blanket your laying on, your heart a quick flash patter, escape escape escape, this was fucking CURTIS. How could you feel that hot heat of panic flushing your body or that your throat was squeezing air through a straw. You waited, waited for him to tighten his arm around you as he usually did or sprawl you across his chest when he rolled to his back, but he stayed still behind you, and the tension between you two just built. I should tell him, but how can I? For whatever reason, it shamed you that you couldnt fight them off. Finally his fingers just splayed against your stomach where he worked his hand under your shirts and loosely held you. After a while, you couldnt help it anymore, falling asleep. Fuck those men for doing this to you.
You were nervous. Once the avengers left, your eyes wandered around at the gifts and they settled on the flowers Steve have given you. It just hit you that this was real. Like what if something goes wrong? A million scenarios ran through your head like the fast forward setting on a tv, your head throbbing. Sometimes you hated being as smart as you were and these were one of those times. You had a bad habit of overthinking and it easily overwhelmed you.
Panic started to set in, the monitor beeping faster and louder to match your heartbeat. The sound only aggravated you and all that you wanted was to get out of that room and stop beeping. You hastily ripped off the small tubes that were attached to your body. You threw the scratchy blanket aside and swung your legs over the bed. The floor was freezing but you didn’t care. Your head throbbed and the pain screamed at you to stop but it was worth it if that meant getting out of here. You pushed the doors open with your side. Your head was spinning, your back throbbing with pain but you just had to get out. You had to. When panic surged it made the room feel ten times smaller than it was.
You managed get barely two feet away from the door, before stopping to catch your breath. It felt like you were on a boat, your body swaying.
“Y/n! What are you doing?!” Peter’s voice was the last thing you heard before passing out.
***
“What happened?” Bruce bellowed, seeing Peter holding his unconscious daughter. If Peter didn’t have his arms full he might have ran in fear.
“I don’t know!” Peter cried. “I just sensed she was in trouble and came rushing up here to find her running out of her room.” He was crouched on the floor, holding you in his arms. He brushed the hair from your face, his brown eyes full of worry, tears threatening to fall.
Bruce knelt down, gently stroking his daughter’s cheek. He felt your forehead, your skin warm and clammy. “I think she had a panic attack.” he explained.
Peter looked up at him. “What?”
“She gets them sometimes. Just don’t tell her I told you. No one really knows about it except me and Nat.”
Peter looked back at you. “Why?”
Bruce shook his head. “I don’t really know, Peter.” He sighed. “As smart as I am, I can’t even figure that out.” He chuckled to himself, feeling embarrassed.
“S’not your fault, Mr. Banner.” Peter assured him.
A loud crash of plates averted their attention. Bruce looked up to see his wife, Nat standing there in shock, a shattered plate with food at her feet. “Bruce! What happened?” She ran over to them, gently touching her daughter’s hair, seeing if she was hurt.
“We just found her out here,” Bruce said,his voice full of sadness. “Peter caught her just as she passed out.”
Nat looked over at Peter then back to you. She kissed your forehead. “Let’s get her back into bed.”
Peter scooped you up in his arms and carried you back to the hospital bed. Nat held your hand, Peter wishing it was his instead. Bruce went into work to reattach the tubes to your body. He gently tucked them back under your nostrils, taping some wires to your chest and an IV to your wrist. When he was finished, he listened to your heart rate with his stethoscope and grabbed his clipboard, writing stuff down.
“I don’t think she should be left alone.” Nat spoke up. “Not after what just happened.”
Her eyes locked with Bruce’s and he nodded. “I agree. Someone should always be here with her.”
“I’ll stay.” Peter offered.
They both looked at him, surprised by his offer.
“I mean, if that’s okay.”
“I think it’d be fine.” Nat smiled. “I’ll go clean up that mess and make her something to eat when she wakes up.” She looked at you with worry one more time. She stood up, gently padding on Peter’s shoulder before leaving.
“I’ll be right back.” Bruce spoke, Peter nodding.
“Nat.”
She turned around, hearing her husband call her name.
Bruce wasn’t the most affectionate type but after what happened, he let his emotions get the better of him and he embraced his wife, his head buried in the crook of her neck. Nat froze for just a second before hugging back. “It’s okay, Bruce. She’ll be alright. I trust Peter.”
He pulled back, eyes glassy. Nat gently kissed him on the lips to calm him down. “She’ll be alright, Bruce. She’s too stubborn to stay bed ridden for long.” she chuckled.
Bruce smirked just a bit. “Yeah she got that from you.”
“Hey.” Nat scolded playfully. Her eyes darted to the doors, getting a glimpse of Peter holding your hand. “The blood test?” she whispered.
“Still waiting on the results.” Bruce spoke. “But I have a feeling he’s a match. He’s on file now.”
“So she had a panic attack?” she asked.
“I think that’s what happened.” Bruce said. “When were in the lab, he just left and that’s when we found her.”
Nat sighed.
“I told him. About her panic attacks.”
“Bruce.” Nat scolded.
“I felt that he needed to know.” he said.
“She won’t be happy when she finds out.”
“I know...but...I just have a feeling he won’t be going anywhere any time soon.”
The corner of Nat’s mouth tilted upward in a smirk. “I think that too. I like him.”
“He’s not so bad. And he’s actually pretty smart. Not as smart as me but-” Bruce shrugged.
Nat rolled her eyes. “I’m going to make our daughter something to eat. Since I ruined the last one…”
“I’ll go check on the results.” Bruce kissed his wife before going back in the room.
“How’s she doing?” he asked Peter.
“Okay, I think. She seems calmer.”
“I’m gonna check on the results, I’ll be back.”
Peter nodded and focused back on you. He squeezed your hand, letting you know that you weren’t alone. He was lost in thought, wondering why he sensed you were in danger. Normally his spidey senses only applied to himself, not another person let alone someone as far away as you were from him. But when he was in that lab with your father, he just knew something was wrong. The hairs on his neck and arms stood on end, panic surged through him, probably the same panic you felt realizing you were by yourself. Without a second thought, Peter bolted from the labs and ran over to you. When he saw you there just outside the doors, barefoot and scared, he nearly had a heart attack. You resembled a stunned deer in the headlights of a car about to get hit. Your father was yelling at him from behind but he didn’t care. He had no idea you were in danger. You were so delirious when he caught you, muttering. He caught his name but that was it.
A lovely warmth caught your attention. It almost felt standing in the light of the sun. Your tired, heavy eyes fluttered open. The morphine that was in your veins kept you calm as you realized you were back in the hospital bed but this time you had a friend. Your eyes focused on a figure that was curled up in the chair next to you. It was Peter. His hand was on top of yours as he slept, snoring just a bit. You chuckled, never hearing him snore before. It was cute. He was cute.
“Hey, sleepy head.” you spoke, shocked at how dry your voice sounded. You coughed from speaking, Peter stirring awake.
“Y/n.” His voice speaking your name made your heart flutter. “You’re awake.”
“And thirsty.” you croaked.
Peter leaned over to grab a cup of water from the bedside table and held the straw up to your lips. You sipped it gratefully, every last drop. “I’ll get you some more.”
You watched as he refilled your glass for you.
“I should let your dad know you’re awake. He was really worried about you.” Peter spoke when you were finished.
“I don’t want you to go.” Your voice was better but still weak.
Peter smiled, reaching for your hand again, feeling the familiar warmth that awoke you earlier. “I’ll be just a second, I promise.”
You frowned as he stepped out of the room. If it weren’t for the morphine you probably would have panicked again. But he came back just as he promised, your father behind him.
“Y/n!” Bruce rushed over to you, giving you the best hug he could without hurting you.
“Dad.”
“I was worried sick.” Bruce said.
“I’m sorry. I just got really scared.” you whimpered, on the brink of tears.
“Shhhh, it’s okay sweetheart.” Bruce gently stroked your hair, something he always did to calm you down. “I have good news.”
“You do?” you asked.
Bruce smiled at the both of you. “He’s a match.”
Peter’s eyes widened as well as yours. “Y-you mean-” Peter stuttered.
Bruce nodded. “We can do the blood transfusion. You both have the same blood type.”
Peter sighed in relief, wanting to cry. The breath he was holding this entire time was finally released. He feared maybe he wouldn’t be a match.
“Thank god.” Peter said, wiping his glassy eyes.
You were just as relieved. You were going to get better and it was all thanks to Peter.
***
Your father began to prep you for the procedure. “It might take a few hours, love.” he informed you and you nodded. It was just you, your father and Peter in the infirmary. You didn’t want anyone else there to make you more nervous. It only made the room feel smaller.
“S’okay, you got this.” Peter said to you as he held your hand.
You nodded, giving him a small smile.
“Okay, everything seems to be in order. Just gonna take time.” Bruce gently patted your forearm and kissed your forehead.
Peter smiled, admiring the cute scene.
“You want me to stay, sweetheart?” Bruce asked, gently cupping your cheek.
You glanced over at Peter, slightly blushing. “I think we’ll be okay by ourselves.” you said.
“Okay, y/n. But I’ll be nearby if you change your mind.”
You nodded and Bruce gave you one last kiss on the forehead before leaving.
“He really cares about you.” Peter spoke once Bruce left.
“Yeah, he does. I love him more than anything.” you said. You paused before adding, “What’s your father like?”
Peter’s brown eyes fell to the floor, making you realize you brought up a touchy subject.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean-” you began.
“It’s fine.” Peter interrupted. “Both my parents have died. I live with my Aunt may now.”
“Peter, I’m sorry. We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.” you told him.
He smiled just a bit. “It’s okay. I was little when it happened so I don’t remember them much. I’m just happy that you have your parents still and they care about you so much.”
His kind words made you smile. His hand was still on yours and he squeezed again, knowing it was okay.
You haven’t known Peter for long but this was the perfect opportunity to get to know him better, which is kinda why you didn’t want your father or anyone else in the room. You glanced down at your hands seeing he was gently stroking yours with his thumb. Heat went up to your cheeks.
“Yeah, they’re great. My father and I even have our own made up language.” you smiled.
Peter looked up at you, intrigued. “Secret language?”
You giggled, feeling silly. “We made it up when I was ten.”
“You’re cute when you laugh like that.” Peter blurted out. His eyes widened right after he spoke and he looked away but you already saw his blush.
You were blushing too. “I think you’re cute too.” you murmured.
“Y-you what?”
“I’m not saying it twice.”
Peter smirked. “S’okay, I already knew before you told me.”
“What?” you snapped.
He chuckled. “I could hear your heart rate speed up every time I came near you or when you looked at me. Didn’t take long to figure it out.”
You narrowed your eyes at him.
“Not to mention now when we’re holding hands.”
You glanced down at your hands and your stubbornness wanted to pull them away but you couldn’t. Your hands were like magnets.
“Wait you can hear my heartbeat?” you asked.
Peter shrugged. “Comes with the spidey senses.”
Your eyebrows perked up. “What powers do you have?”
“I have hyphenated senses like hearing and strength and I can climb up walls and ceilings.”
“Whoa that’s cool. That’s why they call you Spider-Man?”
“Something like that.” he chuckled.
“So you can shoot web from your butt?” you snickered.
Peter scoffed. “No! I have webshooters on my wrist!”
You laughed. “I’m just messing with you.”
“Very funny.” Peter grumbled. “And technically spiders don’t weave their webs from their butts, they use-”
You rolled your eyes. “Peter, I was kidding.”
It quieted down after that. You glanced at the IV bags that hung by you, filled with dark red liquid. You were still tired morphine and found yourself dozing off, feeling the warmth of Peter’s hand drifting you to sleep like a lullaby.
You drifted into a dream. You felt a warmth of comfort and stability but you’re blanket was itchy and anything less than warm so you wondered what the source was for this warmth. You tried to turn over but a familiar arm was around you, preventing you to do so. You blush, hearing a familiar snore. Peter. Peter was the warmth. He was curled up next to you, his arm keeping you in place. You managed to turn around to face him, smiling as you admired him. Gosh he was even cuter as he slept. You leaned in a bit, just enough to peck his nose.
He groaned and his lashes fluttered, his brown eyes gazing up at you. “Hi, Princess.”
You giggled. “Hi, Peter.”
“I was hoping for a kiss on the lips.”
“I kissed your nose. Isn’t that good enough?” you teased.
“Nuh-uh.” He shook his head. “C’mere.”
You giggled again as he closed the distance between you to kiss your lips.
Batman x reader
Hey! It's me starter fanfic writer...yay. I just want to say if you find any mistakes inform me please!. Feedback is welcome, but so are requests!
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
Oneshot: Bruce Wayne×fem!reader. Soulmates AU, where soulmate can feel your pain.
Warnings: none (As far as I am concerned)
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
Today felt slow and pointless for you. You knew that tomorrow and the day after and another day after and so and so will be the same. Slow and pointless was your movement, slow and pointless were your thoughts and your emotions. Everynight you would try to fall asleep, just to wake up. At first it was small things like pain in knucles of hit in the shoulder. But after first month of that it became worse. You would feel awful pain stinging you all across your body, all night every night.
As child you thought you would bs extra careful to not hurt yourself, only because your soulmate would feel the same pain. So everytime you fell or burned youself on the stove you would quietly say sorry. Unfortunately the habit stayed with you and you still feel sorry for every bit of pain he or she must be going through because of you. Ofcourse you also had little accidents like dropping something on you foot. But what happened to him was questionable, it was like every other calm and quiet night you were actually getting sleep you would usually recieve a sharo pain on cheek. Wich led you to believe that your soulmate was good with women, I mean what else then a slap could that be?
Everyday, thats how many times you found yourself wondering about who is your soulmate. At first it could be anyone, but when you add information you gained, your soulmate was either really shady person or living at opposite side of world. Having in mind that pain would mostly strike at night.
Since you knew Gotham wasn't the safest place for woman to be walking alone, you would take subway or bus but that wasn't an option since the roads and metro were under construction. So you had to walk, it wasnt pleasant having to change route because of every smoker or couple of men. But ou managed to get to your block. After a few minutes of standing under the last headlamp in the area you decided to get it over with. It was dark, and the last alley you had to cross was even darker since the moon wasnt shinig there due to tall buildings. You looked back, relieved there was nobody there, looked back once more, and once more when all of a suddent a bright light hit you, headlights of a car. You stumbled back pushing youself against a wall out of shock. Falling into some cardboard boxes.
The boxes provided a good hiding spot, but curiousity got into you and you moved one box and letting you see a man in purple suit got in the car, the Joker. You've never met him before and knew what was this man, scratch that this monstsr capable of. He could easily kill you, smile and not remember you next day. Stunned, you watched as the car moved forwards. It was all black, by this point you knew what car it was...rather who's car it was. It was batmobile, the batmobile. And if the batmobile was here, then batman must be nearby. And if batman was nearby, and also Joker was nearby, that means fight. Big fight. And fight equals trouble. Trouble near you.
Still, you watched as Joker turned around the corner. He turned off the engine, there was silence. Either batman was waiting for him or he has seen you. But you werent going to find out.
With one quick push you forced all boxed away, in swift movement you stood up and ran for you life. You were getting paranoid, he was following you, he was going to get to you. You quickly glanced back. Oh how you wish you didnt, he was there. The dark became light, and you were infront of your apartment building. Your first instinct was to just run straight inside. But is that really what you want? Joker knowing where you live? After he chased you? No! So you just keot running, your legs felt heavy, the known pain in the chest was slowing you down and you breath wont last much longer. You turned around, and before you saw anything. You felt your body hit something.
He got you, your body is going to be found next mornig and with no one to identify you you'll be just another paperwork for police officer. Or so you thought, until the figure you were hoping for revealed himself. The one and only dark knight.
It was all happening too fast too slow at the same time. One second you were falling, next thing you know you are standing watching Joker and Batman fight. It was furly mesmerizing and terrifing at the same time. You just stood there dumbfounded. You watched as Joker took some hits. But that was unimportant. Everytime batman got hit you felt it too. Whoever batman was, your soulmate just saved your life, he is saving lives everyday. Now it all made sense, thats why you felt enermous pain at night. He was beating bad guys. It was amazing feeling, meeting your soulmate. Everything was perfect for 3 whol seconds- until you felt someone grab you from behind. You screamed, it was natural reaction and you couldnt helo but scream more. Until a hand was put over your mouth.
You were being dragged away, with our brain shocked and scared you couldnt think of anything but that one of Joker's goongs is dragging you away. So you just watched how did your surroundings move. You saw how the two fightting men were becoming smaller and smaller as you unwillingly went further and further away. All hope was lost, you knew superheroes couldnt always save everyone. And this was batman's chance to catch his arch-enemy. You eyes widened, this gave you hope and maybe even more streght. What you ask? Joker was left behind by batman, who was running towards you.
He immiediately took down Joker's goon, with jut couple of hits. He pulled out his grapple gun and aimed it up at the sky. It seemed like he was going to leave you lying on the floor. But what type of hero would that be? He leaned down and grabbed my arm. This was it, all the pain will be gone. I touched my soulmate for the first time. Now I will no longer feel his pain, and so he'll not be able to feel mine. Our eyes locked, but before I could say anything he put his arm around my waist and we got out of there.
It was refreshing feeling, almost flying through Gotham. The wind was playing with your hair and you could see Gotham how no one else could. It wasnt long after you took off that you landed, rather crashed. You both landed on lower balcony of the Wayne tower... It was beautifull but you fell on some stairs, bruning pain echoed throught your body. But you kept quiet, shock kept you quiet. There was some ringing in our ears, but a loud thud could be heard close to you. With your right hand ou lifted yourself yourself up and saw that your soulmate was lying on the floor. As fast as you could you got up and went over to check his pulse. He was alive. But passed out. You started panicking, you knew that soulmates dont have to last long. One moment you could kiss for the first time and 5 minutes later you would be alone.
The lights, someone turned on the lights. You ran over to the glass door and started banging as yelling. You knew they heard you, becauss there was a man running towards you. He opened the door and looked what happened. He was older, tall and had suit. Lucius Fox, his nametag stated.
,,What happened madam?" Lucius started asking questions and you just made yourslef answer ,, Joker, he saved me and then" while you talked Lucius came closer to Batman and kneeled down ,,he bought us here." Tears started forming in your eyes, you just lost your soulmate. You turned around and wiped your tears with your dirty sleeve. It was freezing and tears were cooling down your gace even more. ,,May I ask you, why are ou crying. Uhmm?" You wiped your tears away again and looked into distance ,,(Y/N), my name is (Y/N) and I think that-"
,, I am her soulmate." It was voice you recognized, batman. In one swift motion you turned around. And saw batman, holding his head and Lucius helping him get up.  Your eyes met and you smiled at eachother. It was the most amazing moment. But something was missing. Batman leaned against railing. Lucius ran inside, going to get some help. You came closer to him. Never breaking eye contact.
,,Im sorry" he said. You wanted to be angry. You wanted to be mad. But you couldn't, he felt as much pain as you did. But every bit of pain you two went throught saved one life. ,,I feel like something is missing" you said and kissed him. It was amazing, kissing your soulmate. You never had kissed anyone before, it was like youexpected. Only about million times better. You pulled away, he had smirk on his face, your face turned red. Then he answered question eveone asked.
Who is batman? Answer? Bruce Wayne, the playboy, bussinessman, millionaire and most importantly...
Your soulmate.
Sounds of Silence pt2
A/N: TW: mentions of assault/violence
Mitsunari was woken from his studying by a bling from his phone. For a moment he felt irritated but grabbed his phone anyway to check who had bothered to interrupt him.
[18:03:27] << bookshy >> can u talk?
He was thrown back by the question. Usually 'bookshy' just started to talk without knowing if he was online or not. Why the question now?
[18:04:05] << ManjuDreamer >> Yes. What is it?
He stared at his phone, waiting for another message, that didn’t seem to come. He was just about to put his phone down when another bling alerted him.
[18:08:57] << bookshy >> in bad place rn.
He had no idea what to answer, so he just waited for another message.
[18:10:40] << bookshy >> could we meet?
This time he was too surprised to answer. How many times over the years they had known each other he had asked to meet him, only to be turned down over and over again until he stopped asking.
[18:12:24] << bookshy >> sry [18:12:25] << bookshy >> frget what i said [18:12:25] << bookshy >> ttyl
Mitsunari panicked and quickly replied.
[18:12:28] << ManjuDreamer >> no we can meet [18:12:54] << bookshy >> u sure? [18:13:16] << ManjuDreamer >> Yes. Where do you want us to meet?
For a moment Mitsunari thought that ‘bookshy’ had backed out of the meeting when his phone lighted up as another message came.
[18:17:59] << bookshy >> ur place? i promise i b gon as soon as u want [18:18:01] << bookshy >> u dont even have 2 let me in [18:18:05] << bookshy >> plz?
He hesitated for a moment. Why did 'bookshy' suddenly want to come to his place all of a sudden? Wouldn’t it make more sense to meet in somewhere public? Still. They had known each other for years, there was no way someone would keep up appearance for that long if they weren’t who they said they were.
[18:18:52] << ManjuDreamer >> Okay. I’ll send you the address.
He quickly typed his address and waited for an answer.
[18:19:27] << bookshy >> b thr in 45
He looked at the clock. He just had enough time to run to the nearby grocery store to get something to eat before 'bookshy' came. What had he told him he liked? Maybe it would come back to him when he went to the store and could get some of his favourites.
This was going to be so awkward.
Sure he had known 'bookshy' since he was in his early teens. But it was so different talking to someone online than in person. Online you got to know people backwards. Learnt about their interests and hobbies before anything you'd learn from a person you met in real life. Even with 'bookshy' Mitsunari had learnt about his dreams and desires but still knew nearly nothing about his family outside of some trouble he was having with his mother. And he had spoken to him about things he hadn't even dared to talk to Hideyoshi about.
He was just stuffing the last of the sodas into the fridge when he felt the buzzing of his phone in his pocket.
[19:07:32] << bookshy >> im behind ur door [19:07:33] << bookshy >> i thnk
When he opened the door all he could do was stare.
Behind it stood a young woman. A young woman whose cheek was red and swollen and lip split. And not just any young woman but the one he had seen at the library countless of times reading books to kids in sign language. The woman he secretly always hoped he’d see when he went to the library, whose smile he couldn’t stop thinking about, who- no never mind that.
She made a hasty bow and looked straight at him, a barely noticeable frown between her brows. The longer he looked at her, the more she fidgeted, changing her weight from one foot to another, her eyes shifting all over his face, but the small polite smile never faltered. She crumbled the fabric of her sleeves in her hands before she reached for her pocket and took her phone.
She quickly typed something and looked at him expectantly. His phone buzzed with a new message and he reached for it confused.
[19:10:01] << bookshy >> its u isnt it
When he looked at her again, she bit her lip so hard it bled, a frown between her brows but she quickly fixed her face blank. Every now and then she glanced nervously at the hallway at the direction of the staircase. She fumbled with her phone again and showed it to him. The same message that was on his phone shone from her screen, blowing away any doubt Mitsunari might have had if she was ‘bookshy’ or not. She typed something on her phone and soon Mitsunari’s phone buzzed again.
[19:11:27] << bookshy >> sry this was bad idea ill go
She turned to leave, but Mitsunari quickly reached for her arm.
“Ah!” she let out a high-pitched yelp and took a quick step away from him, her eyes darting from his hands to his face and back. She fumbled with her phone again, but Mitsunari waved his hand to get her attention.
[19:12:03] << ManjuDreamer >> Come in. Please?
She looked up from her phone at him for reassurance and he stepped aside gesturing for her to step inside. Something was wrong with her. No matter how shocked he was after finding out who bookshy really was, there was no way he could let her leave after seeing the condition she was in. She stepped inside but just awkwardly stood there, glancing around the apartment.
[19:13:04] << ManjuDreamer >> Sit down, I’ll make some tea.
She looked at her phone and sat down at the corner of the sofa. Mitsunari filled the electric kettle, glancing at her every chance he got. Her eyes shifted from him around his apartment and she fidgeted with her phone. Everything about her posture and movements told Mitsunari how nervous she was, despite her face retaining an indifferent expression.
[19:17:45] << ManjuDreamer >> Here’s tea. [19:17:49] << ManjuDreamer >> I’ll be back shortly. Don’t leave.
She looked at her phone and up at him and nodded, reaching for the teacup. Mitsunari had no idea what to do. Was he supposed to ask her what had happened? Why did she come here? Didn’t she have friends or family who she could have turned to?
“Hideyoshi? I need help.” He called the only person he felt he could turn to, as the other person was currently sitting in their living room.
“Sure! What do you need?”
“I… a… friend came over suddenly and-“
“A friend?” Hideyoshi sounded baffled, but Mitsunari just took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
“Yes. A friend. May I continue now?”
“Yeah, sure. A friend came over, why do you need my help in that?” Mitsunari heard some snickering from the background but decided to ignore it.
“… I think someone assaulted them.”
“I see.” Hideyoshi’s tone turned serious immediately and Mitsunari could hear him leaving whoever was laughing at the background. “Do you want me to come home? I’ll be there in a few if you need me?”
“Yes… no… I don’t know? What should I say…?”
“You could always ask… them… what happened?” Mitsunari ignored the pointed emphasis on the word ‘them’ Hideyoshi had made. As far as he was concerned, it was none of Hideyoshi’s business who he invited over. Especially after all the girls Hideyoshi had brought over in the past.
“Yeah…”
“Do they have a safe place to stay?”
“…I don’t know…”
“Why don’t you start with that and I’ll be there in a while, okay?”
“…Yeah…”
When Mitsunari stepped out of his room, she was nowhere in sight. She couldn’t have left, could she? At the state she was in? He was almost out of the door so he could run after her when the bathroom door hit him. She looked at him, her eyes wide, a slight tremor on her lower lip.
‘It’s okay’ Mitsunari signed. She looked at him like he had suddenly grown a second head. Tears just started to roll down her cheeks and she stepped back into the bathroom locking the door after her. He heard something thud against the door and the sobs that followed told him she was probably leaning against the door.
He had no idea what to do. What were you supposed to do when a woman locks herself in your bathroom to cry?
He sat on the floor next to the bathroom door and reached for his phone.
[19:23:49] << ManjuDreamer >> It’s okay to come out.
He heard the buzz of her phone from the living room. Shit, how was he supposed to talk to her now?
A light knock on the door alerted him and he opened the door to find Hideyoshi behind it. For once, he wasn’t smiling.
“Did you talk to your friend already?” he asked, his voice hushed as he peered behind Mitsunari.
“No. I don’t think they want to talk.”
“I could ask if they want to talk to me? I mean… sometimes it’s easier to talk to a stran…ger…” Hideyoshi’s words faded when he heard her blowing her nose through the bathroom door. Both of them stared at the closed door before Hideyoshi finally stepped inside and knocked lightly on the door. “Hey, you okay in there? You know, you’re safe in here. Mitsunari might have a nasty attitude, but he won’t harm you.”
Mitsunari opened his mouth to protest but instead, he sighed and rolled his eyes and walked to his room. The sound of her phone buzzing with new messages was almost drowned by Hideyoshi’s soft voice when he tried to talk to her through the door.
“Here.” He pushed a pen and some paper to Hideyoshi’s hands. Hideyoshi looked at the paper and at the pen before he looked up at Mitsunari.
“What am I supposed to do with these?” he asked.
“The paper should fit under the door.”
“You want me to write to them?”
“Yes. Now get on with it.”
“Uh, okay…” Hideyoshi scribbled quickly something on the paper and pushed it under the bathroom door. After a while, they saw the last corner of the paper disappear. There was a silence until they heard what sounded like digging through their cabinets. Finally, the paper appeared under the door again.
‘ur not manjudreamer who r u’
The words were written with what Mitsunari could only assume was one of his makeup pencils.
“Um, ‘manjudreamer’? Is that-“ Hideyoshi got one glance of the glare Mitsunari was giving him, before he smiled that smile of his when he didn’t want anyone to get into trouble, “Uh, nevermind…” He quickly scribbled another note and showed it to Mitsunari before slipping it under the door.
‘A friend of his. Knock on the door if u want me to leave’
Almost as soon as the note disappeared there was a couple of knocks on the door. Hideyoshi let out a sigh before he smiled.
“I’ll just stay with Inuchiyo next door. I’m sure he won’t mind.”
“Try not to get buried under all those pizza boxes. And don’t bring any vermin home.”
“Come on, it’s not that-“ Hideyoshi stopped when Mitsunari raised his eyebrow at him and he let out a dejected sigh. “No, never mind. He really needs to fix things with his sister. I’ll pack some things and be gone.” Hideyoshi disappeared in his room leaving Mitsunari standing in the hallway alone. Her phone buzzed again and again with new messages, the constant flow of them starting to annoy Mitsunari a bit. He looked at the bathroom door, wishing it could give him all the answers he needed. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The door, like the person behind it, stayed shut.
“Call if you need anything, okay?” Hideyoshi patted him on the shoulder before he headed to the door. “Oh!” He turned back to Mitsunari, “Your friend can sleep in my room for tonight. I changed the sheets.”
As soon as the door closed after Hideyoshi, Mitsunari wrote another note. He pushed it under the door and like the previous notes, it disappeared from the view shortly. Her phone buzzed with new messages again, its constant buzzing starting to annoy him. Someone was obviously missing her, but he was not going to invade her privacy and see what the messages were about.
Mitsunari raked his hand through his hair and retreated to the living room, turning the TV on. Her phone buzzed again.
How long was she going to stay locked up in the bathroom? What if he needed to use it? Would he have to run to that mutt’s apartment? Even the thought made him shudder but just then the bathroom door opened.
She stepped out, avoiding eye contact and walked slowly to the living room, sitting on the corner of the sofa. She lifted up her phone, but almost dropped it when it immediately buzzed with a new message. She looked at the message. Her eyes widened and all the colour drained from her face and she swallowed hard. She put the phone down and took her teacup, sipping at the lukewarm tea.
[20:23:47] << ManjuDreamer >> Do you have a safe place you can go to?
He waved to get her attention and she put her teacup down to look at her phone and shook her head. This time she couldn’t keep the distress from her face. Her brows were furrowed and her lips pursed, but before Mitsunari could get a good look, she turned her head away as if she was ashamed. She reached her right arm to hug herself, but as soon as she touched her left arm she dropped her hand to her lap over her phone.
[20:24:29] << ManjuDreamer >> Take off your hoodie.
She looked at her phone and her eyes widened. Her eyes shot at him and she took a sharp breath shaking her head, her fingers curling tightly around the fabric of her hoodie. Mitsunari sighed. Why couldn’t she see he was just trying to help? He just wanted to see if she was injured. What she obviously was, considering he had not once seen her use her left arm, not to speak about her cheek that was starting to bruise.
[20:25:28] << ManjuDreamer >> Just take it off.
He wanted to call her insufferable dullard for not getting his point. What did she think he meant? He stood up, reaching for her, but immediately froze. As soon as she saw him move, she jerked away from him, her eyes focusing on his every movement, her face purposefully blank. Every muscle in her body was tense. As if she was expecting him to attack her. Something cold coiled around his stomach and he sat back down, letting his hands fall on his lap.
[20:26:38] << ManjuDreamer >> I need to see your arm. You’re obviously hurt.
She didn’t look at her phone. She kept her eyes on him. Investigating him for any threat.
Who did this to her? Judging from her reaction, this wasn’t the first time and probably wouldn’t be the last. Why hadn’t she mentioned anything about this to him before? They talked almost daily and still, she had kept something like this a secret? Mitsunari felt sick to his stomach.
[20:33:15] << ManjuDreamer >> I see you’re hurt.
This time she looked at her phone when she felt the buzz on her lap. Despite her best efforts on keeping her face impassive, Mitsunari could see the inner battle she was having. Emotions from shame to sadness to anger flashed on her face, but finally, she nodded. She removed her hoodie, trying her hardest only to use her right hand. She didn’t look at him, instead kept her eyes locked on the wall. Her arm was only starting to form bruises, but Mitsunari could imagine come tomorrow, there would be plenty more.
[20:37:40] << ManjuDreamer >> Can you move your arm properly?
She looked down at her phone and shook her head. Mitsunari raked his hand through his hair and took a deep breath.
[20:38:13] << ManjuDreamer >> I need to take you to the ER. I’ll call a taxi.
She looked at her phone and put it down without any acknowledgement if she even saw the message.
The wait for the taxi felt awkward. Both of them just stared at the television without any attempt at conversation until it was time to go. The short drive to the hospital didn’t go any better and finally, they were standing outside of the emergency room. Mitsunari walked to the door, only to notice she wasn’t following. He walked back to her and tried to gesture her to move forward without actually touching her, but she seemed to ignore him.
Finally, Mitsunari reached his hand towards her, palm up. He could feel his face burning up and he turned away from her to hide his blush. He just wanted her to follow him, damn it! Why did she have to make this so difficult? He felt fingers wrap around his hand and when he mustered the courage to look at her, she had the first genuine smile on her face he had seen all day. Just how stupid was she, getting happy about something like this after what she went through.
