My fellow Fall Goblins, we must usher in the Autumn by force!

One of the joys of not using TikTok and minimizing your Instagram use over time is any content you do watch is even more tailored to your interests than an algorithm because only people who know and love are sending it to you directly. I am embracing my Fall Goblin status (as @taryndelaniesmith coined it) with the new iced pumpkin chai at Starbucks and rewatching Gilmore Girls. (Sorry to sound like an #ad.) Less related to the latest equinox, I’ve been catching up with 2023 releases, digging into women’s memoirs, and, yes, still thinking about Barbie. If these September picks don’t tide you over all through October, add these movies with Autumn vibes to your watchlist.

September Crowd-Pleasers

1. The Equalizer 3 (2023)

If the if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it mentality is what you’re looking for in the action genre, this more than delivers because Antoine Fuqua is one of the best at making action that is both beautifully shot and easy to follow. (Just a reminder that his Magnificent Seven remake is deeply underrated!) Setting this adventure on one of the dreamiest coastal towns in the world means this is the best-looking Equalizer yet, but even that isn’t the real draw. Read my full review for ZekeFilm. 2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (2023)

Someone’s ex shows up unexpectedly, family secrets are unearthed, and we have to find something for Joey Fatone to do! Fortunately, even with all that story, this is still a good time and also a step up from the Netflix and Hallmark-style movies that have become the de facto purgatory for rom-coms and family comedies in the last 10 years. 3. A Haunting in Venice (2023)

To use a Moneyball metaphor, if Knives Out and Only Murders in the Building are hitting grand slams and home runs, these Agatha Christie movies are focused on getting on base. 4. GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo (2023)

Queen! The opening track’s satiric take on the unattainable expectations for modern women goes right up there with America Ferrera’s speech in Barbie, and “pretty isn’t pretty” and “teenage dream” are excellent companions for those themes. “bad idea right?” is a hilarious anthem meant for shouting at the top of your lungs, and “get him back!” is one of the flat-out best pop songs since, well, “drivers license.” While GUTS may not have a track that transcends that generation-crossing ballad, this album is a step up because it avoids the repetition of the breakup tracks from SOUR.

5. Gran Turismo (2023)

A movie about gamer-turned-racecar-driver does not scream A Movie for Taylor™, but a movie starring Orlando Bloom and David Harbour sure does! I went in skeptical but ended up emotionally invested in this based-on-a-true-coming-of-age-story sports movie that was much better than it needed to be thanks to this charismatic cast and Neill Blomkamp’s innovative directing. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7.5/10

More September Crowd-Pleasers: Our Lips Are Sealed (2000) is just an Annette and Frankie movie starring the Olsen twins, a baby kangaroo named Boomer, and Jason he-better-win-an-Oscar-someday Clarke // Did you know Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta reunited in Basic (2003)? It’s a fun thriller with plot in the vein of A Few Good Men from the director Die Hard // Accepted (2006) is cruder than my typical taste, but Justin Long and the script find heart and insightful comedy in an update to Animal House // Is Terminator Salvation (2009) an underrated gem of the franchise even without Schwarzenegger? // Iron Sky (2012), a sci-fi action flick in which astronauts find a secret base the Nazis fled to in 1945, is one of the most fun bad movies I’ve seen in a long time // Sisu (2023) is the John Wick of WWII Finland with all the fun and none of the baggage of world building // Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver are teaming up for the Strike Force Five podcast, and their conversations are as random and delightful as you’d hope

1. Girls on Film by Alicia Malone (2022)

Turner Classic Movies host Alicia Malone’s memoir looks back on her life through the films that influenced her growing up and through the ones the ones that have represented her life as a woman. She shares how Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Mad Love, National Velvet, The NeverEnding Story, and Smooth Talk have impacted her life, as well as behind-the-scenes stories from her career and her Hollywood adventures. (In one, she shares a life-changing conversation she had with an unnamed actor in Rome. I’m choosing to believe it was Andrew Garfield!) A thoughtful combination of reflection and cinema history, I had trouble putting this down.

2. And So They Were Married (1936)

In a Parent Trap-reverse plot, single parents Mary Astor and Melvyn Douglas fall for each other at a ski lodge over a Christmas holiday, but their kids (Edith Fellows, Jackie Moran) can’t stand each other. I will definitely be revisiting this charming screwball rom-com this holiday season! Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 8.5/10

3. The Beautiful Letdown (Our Version) [Deluxe Edition] by Switchfoot (2023)

Nostalgia overload! I didn’t know I needed the Jonas Brothers, Relient K, and more covering one of the core albums of my youth.

4. Archive by Sofia Coppola (2023)

If, like me, you love films about lonely women, scrapbooks so thick they can't close, photos of people in period costumes using modern technology, and learning everything you can about an artist’s process, you'll also love this 500-page collection of Sofia Coppola’s mood boards, character notes, and story inspirations.

Thanks to a ✨depression haze✨ taking its sweet time to vamoosh from my mind i am only now able to form words about the Doctor Who trailer.

Fifteen has been in the grand total of the last quarter of The Giggle, The Church On Ruby Road & (2) trailers & he’s my second favourite Doctor of all time. I. Love. This. Version. Abolish UNIT's flooring king & leave the bill for your younger self <3 Every time I think of Fifteen, I think back to 2021 where me & my housemate were standing in the kitchen saying based on our mutual love for Eric Effiong that Ncuti Gatwa would be a good Doctor Who.

THE MUSIC 🎵 CHANGES🎵 honestly I went feral as soon as it started playing. For YEARS I have associated different Bowie songs with Twelve, Bill Potts & Danny Pink so I was screeching like a person deranged.

Will say though considering The Goblin Song, the musical notes around Ruby & the trip to The Beatles I wonder if music will play a core theme in this season? Little things like words on posters & names said aloud throughout the first RTD era turned out to be vital elements so I’m wondering if we’ll get something similar like that again.

VERY happy to see Cherry & Carla back. I always thought they would be seeing as RTD clearly loves his companions to have families & love that he’s returned to writing about & showing the importance of found/adoptive families like he did for The Sarah Jane Adventures 😊 did not get great vibes from the “I’m still her mum, I need to know she’ll be ok.” Line & the promise but again it’s RTD’s writing, he made it seem like Rose & Donna would be dead within their respective seasons & both of them are thriving with their respective versions of the Doctor.

THE SHOT OF HOLOGRAM!TEN/METATEN/FOURTEEN/FOURTENTH?!? love them, love him LOVE THEM but I hope it's just an image or someone flickering through & showing Fifteen pictures of his past selves like they’ve done in The Eleventh Hour, Nightmare In Silver, Twice Upon A Time, The Timeless Children etc & not a “Fifteen & Fourteen work on a UNIT mission together via holograms.” To me at least, it seems a little too soon to do another multi Doctor story especially when it’s only Fifteen’s first season.

THE CALLBACK TO MARTHA JONES & BILL POTTS WORRYING ABOUT STEPPING ON THE BUTTERFLY 😂🤩😂 me & my mum laughed so hard at this but at the same time, it’s adding to my theory that “doing the salt” at the edge of the universe IS responsible for myths/legends/theories actually happening in the Whoniverse now like the salt, the bi-regeneration, The Goblin King because in the song there’s a line that gave me this theory the “he’s not a myth, he’s an actual thing.” This will definitely be me reading too much into it but that’s just the conclusion I’ve come to.

I saw Indira Varma in (1) frame 😳 I had IMMEDIATE ✨gay thoughts✨ she is so beautiful 😍 BUT she started turning into a creature & I am not & never shall be a monsterfucker (even though admittedly the carrionites had me questioning things) but it will be a TEST OF STRENGTH.

There was what looked to be a flesh bowl & I immediately thought of The Gangers & seeing as Moffat’s emerging perhaps they’re making their return. After what happened with Bill Potts, Danny Pink & certain favourite characters of mine from my second favourite book in the entire world back in 2020 I am on the ✨fence✨ about The Return Of Moffat but he is ultimately incredible at writing a good horror story so if he does another one episode horror that’ll traumatise me for life & after, fair enough.

The alienvenom being in the corridor near made me yeet behind my sofa so I’m looking forward to seeing that story.

I’ve seen horror films I’ve gone through an ACTUAL HAUNTING & still nothing prepared me from how i nearly expired when i realised that THERE'S SOMETHING STANDING IN THE BACKGROUND IN TWO RUBY SCENES 😨

Whoever they are I hope him & The Doctor have enough gay activity between them that’ll make my family members who don’t like Fifteen when they “come across as gay” uncomfortable <3

The weathered Tardis near the sea reminds me of The Ghost Monument. I hope they make a figure/pop of the weathered Tardis, I need it for my collection 😅 I hope we get a The Ghost Monument mention just to annoy my family who still actively talk about how much they disliked 13’s era.

“STAR is like the lobby just outside your destiny” -Queen Machete

I have likened this community to many things, but this one I feel is the most fitting. And though some of us get flashbacks when we read the word “lobby” and anything STAR related, I am not talking about that one (shout out to the lobby goblins and chat killers, the trauma dumpers, oversharers & spammers) . I am talking about the spiritual one, The existential one, that exists where we stall, we wait, we writhe in anticipation to our highest calling, knowing that just beyond those self-kept 8 of Swords gates, lies the raw intensity of our destiny. Brushed with the stroke that Jupiter brought us here. The Wheel of Fortune expands opportunity, good and bad. Both individual and collective, we shitpost to pass the time. Get lost in trash fires to feel the burn. To distract us from what we know is imminent–our evolution and physical and metaphysical beings. From the responsibility that plagues us spiritually, what we have known since we were kids, that we were meant for something more, that we are special, and that life is going to unfold and show us the way.

I have also compared it to the American Idol auditions waiting room: Some sing, some dance, some link up with those similar to them and vibe. Others are throwing up in the bathroom, and can't handle the nerves. Others pacing back and forth. SOme surrounded by family and friends, filled with joy and anticipation, while there are others, all alone, forlorn, feeling like this is their last shot. There are hotel rooms, and other spaces to occupy, people run off to and fro. Some are protesting outside, and others are watching from home. Either way we are all involved, busy waiting on ourselves.

It is a shadow work play ground or gym (more like a Planet Fitness, rather than a full service), where we can practice self-love and confrontation. We can trauma dump and laugh about our collective and generational suffering. We were brought here for a reason, if only for a szn, to be impacted by one another. By our stories, our energy, our passion, and compassion. It is not perfect, and there is a palpable restlessness, juxtaposed with the bigness of it all. The vastness of the possibilities, the echo of our calling, form our ancestors, from The Divine, from the Collective Unconscious or simply from ourselves.

You do not stay in the lobby forever, unless you work at the venue of course. So there is absolutely no love lost when you move on. We are impacted by who came before because we are nostalgic in nature. 6 of Cups replaying the possibilities and the moments we felt the most, were the most involved, projected the hardest, and escaped the moment in communal form. Experiences will vary, while some are picked, and others feel dejected, there are a myriad of responses and reactions to a place like this. It is with intention that the ball is handed back to you repeatedly, that the onus of your experience is on you. So that when you leave here you don’t lose yourself, lose your faith in the same way you can when you leave the church. Please don't lose your faith in community, in connection, in love, & self-expressive accountability. Take your growth with you. And the connections you make are not contingent on hotel management (though some of you were removed by security, that is just the way it goes when you facilitate an institution like this.)

There is purpose and intent behind this exhibition but it is not without flaws. In years past, our immaturity and naivete blaring like the fool ready to leap, we couldn't have known. And if we did, would we have taken the risk if we knew the potential pain endured by attachments formed via a web of elaborate and coexisting projections. That's what astrology is. That is what life is. That's what we are mirroring here. Sometimes it cycles mimicking the hypomanic while other processes are enduring, we are here together, to pass the time until we are fully called into ourselves. We are gathered here today to agree that this is not solely delusions of grandeur, we really are that individual, this really is that collective, and even if we only meet here in this lobby, and never cross paths again… it was for a reason, if only to read this and to know, that we all know, how profound this really can be.

The Suicide Squad (2021) Review

This may be the better of the two, but the first Suicide Squad film will always hold the crown for managing to win an Oscar... somehow.

Plot: The government sends the most dangerous supervillains in the world -- Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Harley Quinn and others -- to the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Armed with high-tech weapons, they trek through the dangerous jungle on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Col. Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave.

“So that’s it, huh? We’re some kind of suicide squad?” says Will Smith in the original first film, with the line in itself being a poor attempt at a fourth wall break, yet, that movie never reached that promise of being a true Suicide Squad film. Because hardly anyone died, and as a whole David Ayer’s film was a generic mess, regardless of studio interference or not. In comes James Gunn from Marvel, who seems to have cracked the code for how to bring this comic book series to live action in proper gratuitous form, with even the ‘The’ in the title symbolizing that this is the one!

I remember going to see the first Guardians of the Galaxy film at the cinema, and back then I was still only just getting acquainted with watching western media, and that included superhero films. Heck my first ever Marvel movie was Thor: The Dark World! I know, what a banger to start with.......NAAAWT!! Anyway, I went to see Guardians and it was one of the first superhero films I came out of feeling like I truly witnessed something special. It had action, comedy and a good heart to it, and wouldn’t you know, my good old pal James Gunn was behind that flick. I don’t know why I called him my good old pal, I don’t even know the fella. Except in my dreams, but we don’t talk about that. So, flashforward to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which I absolutely hated, and for that movie I’m pretty sure Marvel gave Mr Gunn mostly full reigns of creative freedom, as long as he kept it family friendly, and the result was a mess. Hence naturally now I was really sceptical when James Gunn ended up at Warner Bros. following the controversial moment when cancel culture decided to aim it’s slimy fingers at him, as he was given directing and writing duties for this new The Suicide Squad film, and also it was heavily insinuated that Warner Bros. basically told him he could do with the movie whatever the f*** he wanted, excuse my French. And we remember how it panned out last time when James Gunn was given a lot of creative freedom.

Flashforward to present day; here I am wondering and scratching my head thinking what in the heavens has happened, as by golly I am happy to report that The Suicide Squad is a total winner and a blast with a capital B - Blast! Gosh goodness golly goblin, this movie is so much fun from beginning to end. Right from the opening sequence you know that this film isn’t holding back any punches. It’s going at a 447.19 km/h speed of a Koenigsegg Agera RS crashing through any barriers like it’s nothing. Speaking of the opening sequence, it establishes why the movie is called what it’s called from the get-go. You straight away are proven how not a single character is safe, minus the obvious one that we know who it is, as there ain’t no way Warner Bros. would have allowed James Gunn to kill off that one character. But besides that person, everyone else feels like they could die at any given moment. That’s really a big charm of it, as it is frustrating how in many superhero films, let alone any blockbuster action flicks, so many characters always feel so safe and unstoppable, no matter how many times they get shot or how many buildings crash down upon them. And yes, this movie features a certain CGI character that constantly gets that treatment and survives, although it’s very self aware in that regard and is purposefully humoristic. But overall the entire set of characters feel easily disposable, and so so many of them die in such gruesome fashion, so indeed don’t get attached, as they don’t.

Speaking of which, this movie is hardcore gory! You see limbs and intestines flying round left and right, a guy gets ripped in half by a humanoid shark, another’s face gets teared off by a shotgun bullet and so on forth in all kinds of gruesome fashion. Visually this is one for the big screen, as here’s the thing: you’re either a mummy’s boy or you grow some cojones and go see a man’s heart get stabbed with a piece of debris glass in 4K high rate definition! Your choice! Oh, and it’s not just the violence, also the cinematography and the practical set pieces all look incredible. This is easily James Gunn’s best looking movie. The entire think LOOKS incredible!

We also have to talk about the cast, as they are all great! There literally isn’t a single weakling among them. Each one, no matter how big or small their role is, brings something to the table. I can’t talk about all of them, as we’d be here all day, so I’m simply going to mention a few of the stand-outs. Idris Elba comes in to replace Will Smith as a character called Bloodsport, who is in some ways a different character but evidently is a replacement of Smith’s. But that’s no bad thing, as with any ensemble movie you still need a main character to latch onto and have an emotional hook towards, and he is that character. In fact, I’d say he’s arguably better than Will Smith in the last movie, or at least he seems to be having more fun here. He works as a solid leading man, however what works even more is his banterous competitive genital-size-measuring back and forth with John Cena’s Peacemaker, who by the way is awesome as that character. He is not a good character, in fact he is as bad as a bad guy can get, especially cause he’s someone who believes that what he is doing is right, making him much more of a dangerous wild card. This is easily John Cena’s best role, with him adding to the comedy one-liners, but also delivering such an interesting character who I’m looking forward to seeing more of in his standalone spin-off show confirmed for next year. Oh, and he wears a toilet helmet on his head which he defines as “a beacon of freedom” which says it all. We also have returning characters from the last film Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis as Rick Flag and Amanda Waller respectively, and both are given much more room to stretch their talents and spread their beautiful acting wings like the Hollywood angels that they are. Kinnaman’s Rick Flag is the moral compass of the group, as even though Elba is our main guy, he’s nonetheless a villain still, whilst Flag is a genuinely good guy and what is defined as a true American hero, to which Kinnaman fits the part well. And Viola Davis as Amanda Waller is on an absolutely different level. You can tell she’s an Academy Award winner through and through, as she plays such a serious character in an otherwise goofy movie, and so her presence is felt and it is felt BAD! She’s such a despicable yet intimidating personality and she gravitates all of the screen presence to herself. Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn, and she gets even more chance to develop this character that she’s played in multiple DCEU films now, and as per usual the Harley Quinn shtick works well for her, though I do kind of wish she didn’t always get all the attention. Look, I think she’s a fun character and Robbie plays her well, however she’s constantly used to overshadow others in these films which I don’t think is too fair, and its evident as ever in this film too. Anyway, the remainder of the cast including Jay Courtney as Captain Boomerang, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Michael Rooker as Savant, Nathan Fillion as TDK, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2 (who gave me strong A Plague Tale: Innocence vibes) and many more all play villains, but villains that don’t have particularly great superpowers. This is where the tragedy of Task Force X as a team plays a part, as many of these villains aren’t even good at being villains. They are useless, and the movie is really self aware of this and so treats all characters as they should be. Dare I also not forget to mention the CGI characters in this film, with both Weasel and King Shark being absolute scene stealers!

The Suicide Squad is the type of wham-bam-thank-you-mam batshit crazy entertainment which exists for the pure reasons of fun. It doesn’t set out to be the best superhero film ever, nor does it need to be. It’s an exhilarating, shocking, funny and amusing ride from beginning to end, with the energy never stopping, and is easily the best time I’ve had with a comic-book film in a long while, and I’m even talking about before COVID! Do yourself a favour and watch this one as soon as you can, as I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - The Suicide Squad is a BLAST!!

-. Besides meat, what other foods does he find delight in? Would saying ‘fish’ be a bit too close to meat? Okay, that aside I do think Shin has a rather varied palate, mostly because he's had plenty of time to visit any place he’d wanted to visit and explore dishes and specialities to the point where it would be extremely shameful if he chose to not keep an open mind about new dishes. I also think he’s particularly fond of Korean dishes (in a similar fashion to Hyun) simply because it feels like home, especially if it’s traditional enough that it can bring him back to the beginning of it all, perhaps without reminding of the contexts that had made the beginning difficult. And I also think he might be a little bit of a gourmet: he’ll absolutely eat what he can get, considering how fond he seems to be of beer he can’t say he doesn’t like junk food or anything you could get and/or make easily. But for some reason I have a feeling that Shin thinks of food in a ‘the eye wants its part too’ fashion, meaning that he also enjoys when something looks good, when it’s presented well, and when it looks like it’s trying to make an impression - which is something we’ve seen him do before. Kim Shin is characterised by an interesting combination of ancient and modern, old and young, where he is both wise and petulant, reliable and petty, and these many contrasts living within his personality, can present themselves in something as simple as cuisine, too. So, yeah, he’ll eat ramyeon. But also that Canadian steak. And he loves homemade... and sitting in fancy restaurants.

-. What’s something that gives him utter peace as soon as it’s there? The people he loves. The Goblin has lived so long, has seen so many things, has owned a great deal of trinkets, properties, treasures. But nothing material can bring him the peace that the people he holds dear to his heart can. Because even objects with value only have said value because they remind him of those he’s had to move on from, loved ones he no longer gets to see. So, he might show anger at losing a plate Louis XIV used to eat on, but did that plate bring him peace? No. Does knowing Ji Eun-tak is safe, sleeping in a room in his house, hopefully soundly, bring him peace? Yes. Does the pitter patter of Saja’s houseslippers headed towards his bedroom bring him peace? Yes. Does purposefully ignoring Deok-hwa’s faux innocent smile in his peripheral asking him for money bring him peace? Yes. Simply getting to sit there and witness the people he loves be themselves, alive, hopefully well, going about their existence by pursuing their hobbies, engaging in their quirks and habits, is the most Shin doesn’t dare to ask for. That’s when he’s tranquil: when he gets to see those he loves be, free of plight, or imminent danger. When he’s sitting on their couch and watching Eun-tak spread her homework across their coffee table and occasionally shoot him that special smile, while Saja slurps on his milk and gets too invested in a drama playing on TV, and Deok-hwa is walking into the room babbling about some girl-related nonsense, well... What more can he possibly want?

-. How was his life during the Joseon era? I remember one shot of Shin in Joseon era, I think he’s sitting at a table and having a good time, possibly even gossiping about something, I don’t remember the episode this scene was in, nor can I find it anywhere else, but unless I’m having brain fry, I vaguely remember his appearance as well: according to his outfit, he must have been a yangban. Yangban is sort of what you could have considered nobility at the time, the ruling class of the Joseon dynasty, made up of military officials and/or scholars. Why am I mentioning this? Well, because obviously Kim Shin would have found a way to become a yangban. The title/class of Yangban is, this all according to my research so if I’m wrong shoot me and pls correct me, something a man had to earn by passing certain exams/attending a school, that would basically qualify them for the social status that would then turn the entire family into a yangban family (also because women couldn’t take these exams and studies, nor become officials or scholars, but could still inherit the title of yangban female from their fathers, for example). So, how was his life during the Joseon era? Well, high class I would say. I don’t remember what was being discussed in that scene, so I can’t say for sure, but I can’t see Shin choosing to become a military official yet again. Considering his experiences with the empire while serving it as a general, I can see Shin simply defying from the crown by minding his own and no longer offering his self and his services in any direct way to the palace. I can see him as a scholar, perhaps simply living his life as a yangban male and every now and then attending a few things just to maintain his status, all while he simply continued to explore the country and play pranks on other officials. And I can’t tell you why, but I can absolutely see him play pranks on other officials, or sneak some reading material to a daughter, or monopolise the attention of court ladies just because he can, going as far, of course, as he can get away with flirting with anyone at the time. He most definitely grew fond of a few faces here and there, since Shin is literally incapable of not growing fond of someone, once you enter his heart, you simply do, it’s far too big for a man like him, and far too willing, far too desiring, desiring to give and receive love, to give and receive attention, to give and receive the warmth and familiarity of connections. So, he led a good life, definitely financially speaking and simply in terms of quality, he was probably annoying for some, and probably avoided the very centre of palace life, because I can see him not wanting to have as much to do with royalty anymore.

-. Are there certain things in the past that he wishes could be available in the modern world, or is he fully comfortable with what's at hand? Shin is the sentimental type. I’m not even headcanoning it, and even if he attempts to hide it, he usually does an awful job at hiding just how much he cares and how much things affect him. He’s very loud and almost obnoxious at times in his reactions, he explains himself the same way a child might at times, he’s excitable, and he doesn’t feel shame to show Saja how much it matters to him, what impression he’d make in front of Eun-tak. He cares, and while vocal admittances are usually reserved for those very serious moments, he’s always proving just how sentimental he is. So, I would say, it’s a yes to both those alternatives. First the latter: yes, he’s fully comfortable with what’s at hand, because the modern world simply has so much to offer that he enjoys. Even if he doesn’t understand it or make regular use of it, you can see him move about the modern world rather comfortably, learn about any new customs, institutions, or ways of living. He keeps himself up to date (the business card thing, I swear-), he likes to tap into new passions and likes. And at the same time, he loves the world he came from. I always feel like, compared to perhaps Hyun, who I’m mentioning here because you know him which makes comparison easier (;3), who doesn’t feel himself to belong in any particular era but rather to existence as a whole, whenever I watch Shin, he’s extremely self-aware of the fact that his time on Earth has long ‘expired’. Other than the fact that he literally should have died back in Goryeo, one of the things that kind of fortifies this idea for me is what Shin looks like when he does actually die (and then returns): he’s dressed in the same clothes he wore when he ‘died’ in Goryeo. Shin’s soul seems to belong to Goryeo still, and as such, the life he’d led at the time (now, personal interpretation) somehow feels like The life, his life, while all the centuries that followed had been the extension. The culture, the habits, the food, the garments, anything, honestly, that belongs to Goryeo feels as if it’s something Shin knows, things he grew up with, things that shaped him, that was his time, and the modern world, Joseon, they’re times he’s visiting, even if it’s against his will. That’s the vibes I get. And I realise this answer is perhaps a little too much in contrast to the question :’3

How would he feel if a particular gumiho suddenly hugged him from behind? 👀 Oh YEAH- Now, I could answer this question by dipping into what we’ve seen Shin do in the canon in romantic scenarios/romantic-coded scenes, but I don’t want to. Because I don’t want to recycle reactions and demeanour he portrayed for/relating to Eun-tak, I want to explore what he does, and who he is, in the particular world that is verse 4 (because, this is a particular verse for Shin as well, since Yeo’s the bride <w<). SO, the reaction obviously always depends on what stage of their relationship they’re in <w< In the canon, he usually startles when Saja does anything remotely romantic(-coded?) (well, safe for some scenes where he looks a little surprised but not displeased-), but in my boat- Circumstances are different, Yeo/the person is different, and they’ve been interacting differently. I think at a point in time in which nothing has been said but a lot has perhaps been done and/or hinted at, insinuated, he’d probably startle and not really know what to do with himself. The worry that this is just a fox-antic meant to tease him or poke fun at him might be small, but very much present, so he’d just try to play it off with some lame line, half-jokingly insinuating Yeo’s being sweet because he wants something, or even straight up interpret it as Yeo holding onto him because he stumbled and Shin was just... there, to hold onto to so he doesn’t have to fall flat on his face. Have things been... discussed though, honestly, we know sometimes Shin acts like a shy virgin, which is honestly adorable, and he might even act that way a little bit in this scenario where he just has that goofy smile on his face and is doing that flustered shifty eyes thing, but I also like to think that the moment Yeo’s arms are around him, Shin just.. laughs. Like, a warm, heartful chuckle, as he leans back into Yeo’s chest and just kind of leans his head back and turns it enough to be able to look at Yeo, give him a silly flirty one-liner, maybe try to get a kiss out of hi- Or he’ll end up turning around in his arms still to grab his face and SMOOCH HIM- Might be vary slightly depending on what Shin’s doing, but this is the gist of it, yet, no matter what, sMOOCH FINALE-

Kinktober Day 5: Nukklebust Productions Presents

[Authors Note: This is purely self indulgent smut that I have written for my own personal enjoyment and it is loosely based on a dream I had a few weeks ago. I was torn between putting this in Warcraft or not and I decided to put it in the Auchendale universe so I can use Ember since I kind of fell in love with her, which was unintentional since I made her on a whim. Vyzzie was borrowed from a friend with permission.]

The owners of The Scarlet Eclipse had some very firm rules on photography and video being taken in the club. The top rule was that in general it wasnt allowed. This was to help enforce privacy rules and ensure that the people who came to the club felt safe. The exception to the rule was, of course, pornography. The owners had a relationship with a few directors in the industry and allowed some of their rooms to be used for photo shoots and film shoots as long as nothing got out of hand and it was kept quiet. The location was never allowed to be revealed.

There were limitations of course, no large productions, and only so many rooms could be rented out for this purpose. The club still needed to cater to its own clientele of course, and it opened up the opportunity for people to explore their own exhibitionist and voyeuristic fetishes. Once it became known, it was an open secret around the club. Privacy was still respected, but the owners invested in a remodel that turned a couple of the rooms into permanent filming areas. They could be accessed through a special door and from the outside and the area could be locked down if needed.

When not in use by professionals, the owners allowed club members to book the rooms for a fee and they would get a copy of the finished product for their own personal enjoyment. Some allowed their amateur films to be released online, most kept them private. VIP members of the club were allowed to use these areas for free with enough prior notice. As it was, there was a waiting list, and sometimes it could take a few months to gain access to one of the rooms, especially if you needed a specific one.

The club owners had made it easy to check the availability of the rooms online, and there was a link to the waiting list. Anyone already on it could also check their place in the queue. Vyzzie had been checking every day for the last few weeks to see if his request had been bumped up in the queue. He had paid extra and used his friends VIP access to cut in line as much as he could. He was eager to do the scene and had been making preparations for almost two months now. The preparations had to be changed multiple times already as people had backed out and Vyz knew the longer it took the harder it would be to do.

Thankfully his friend had promised not to back out and had even suggested bringing someone along so she wasn’t the only female in the scene. It meant they could do much more with what they had left and the plans for the scene had begun to change. It was shaping up to be one of his better ideas, he just had to make sure the people still on board stayed on board.

The idea had come about after a wild night with two chicks he didn’t really know well. He ended up getting kind of close to one of them and she had expressed a desire to have another threesome but with two guys instead. Ember nodded and waved. “I would appreciate it if my name wasn’t used during filming, if it is all the same.”

My Opinion - Jeff Goldblum playing a soon to be hot alien while also being in love with Geena Davis is a banger of a mood because it’s really nice to watch! Disclaimer for cheesy interpretations of aliens and mediocre CGI, but It doesn’t matter because this Star-Cross Lovers thing makes it all better. (ps. Jim Carrey also plays as one of the aliens, lol).

Plot - Valarie is having issues with her cheating Fiance and in attempt to recapture his heart , she ends up uncovering his secret affairs instead. Shortly after her heartbreak though, Valarie ends up meeting 3 strange, (fur covered), aliens who’s space ship just landed in her pool. Trying to keep them undercover, she asks for her friend’s help but realizes that these aliens are secretly HOT as hell, and even begins to fall in love with one of them, (s E x Y Jeff Goldblum).

Good Burger

My Opinion - Okay, this movie was just funny as hell. I love the aesthetic they use in it and it’s actually genuinely hilarious, and a bit gross once in a while, but HEY. That’s 90′s kids humor, am I right?

Plot - It’s basically about this small town burger place, (Good Burger), suddenly getting intense competition across the street when sci-fi esque burger joint, Mondo Burger, sets up and threatens their business. Two work-place unlikely companions, Dexter and Ed, have to find a way to keep Good Burger open or else they’ll be shut down.

Labyrinth

My Opinion - I’m not sure if Labyrinth counts as Misc because maybe more people know about it then I think, but DAMN, is it good. My suave space-man, David Bowie, plays the main antagonist, the charming Goblin King. Its a bit dark and used to give me “ The Dark Crystal” vibes because all the creatures are puppets, but it’s pretty good!

Plot - Sarah is tired of her baby brother’s sh*t and legit wishes that the goblin kind would come and take him away - and you guessed it - he does! Realizing her mistake, it’s up to Sarah to track down the Goblin King through his almost endless Labyrinth in order to find her little brother Toby and bring him home before the King turns him into a goblin.

Little Shop of Horrors

My Opinion - I loved this movie a lot. I thought it was very funny but equally dark. Just a disclaimer though, it IS a comedy horror so it’s a bit scary and sometimes graphic. But geezums, it was fantastic. Nerdy Rick Moranis from Ghostbusters plays the main dude, and i love him so much for the part. He’s so soft and quiet, lol. It’s a good movie - BUT YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE THEATRICAL ENDING - DO NOT WATCH THE ORIGINAL CUT VER. UNLESS YOU LIKE DEPRESSING ENDINGS. The original version of little shop of horrors ends very sadly and the creators of the movie got very negative feedback for it. Therefore, to make sure their movie wouldn’t fail in the box office because of intense hate, they re-shot the ending and made it happier, I recommend the happier ending though because ya’ll don’t need more depressing sh*t in ur life.

Plot - In this comedy musical horror, Seymour Krelborn works for an old, run-down flower shop that’s been having some issues with business. Having a fascination with plants though, Seymour ends up buying a rare, venus-flytrap like plant from a mysterious dealer, only to discover that’s it’s carnivorous, FOR BLOOD. Not wanting it to die though, Seymour gives up some of his blood for the plant, but it ends up getting bigger and needing even more amounts of flesh for it to stay alive. Out of desperation, Seymour begins feeding it dead people and even his secret-crushes abusive boyfriend. I mean, what other sh*t could possibly go wrong? It’s not like the plant is from outer space, lol.

Leon: The Professional

My Opinion - This movie was probably the kick-start of Natalie Portman’s career as she played the young main character, Mathilda, who gets adopted by a soft hit-man. It’s freaking adorable. Their relationship is so sweet and precious, and it makes it funnier when you know that Leon is a a hired killer, lol. Plot - Mathilda lives a hard knock live with her abusive drug-dealing father and her neglecting mother, but after her family is killed in a shoot-out hosted by a crooked DEA agent, she looks to the hit-man, Leon, who lives down the hall for help. The two begin a ‘partnership’, more like a father and daughter duel, where Leon teaches her his craft in order for her to take revenge on the agent who killed her only, beloved little brother.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

My Opinion - I’m quite sure this HAS to be a classic, but it’s precious as HELL! It is so damn funny and is probably the coolest toon-cross-over movie you’ll ever watch. The effects are actually REALLY spot on and the plot is REALLY enticing. This was honestly a gold-mind of comedy as it was based on the classis humor of toons form the 1940′s. Of course though, a bit of a disclaimer, it does have some very slight suggestive things and adult actions and such, but nothing to bad from what I can remember. BUT, there is a bit of a nicht-marish scene where the villain dies and it’s a bit unnerving.

Plot - Toons have become a scarce few in society and are beginning to experience prejudice after they’ve become unpopular; forced to only live on their side of town, Toon-Town. Roger Rabbit, A slap-stick character who is currently experience marriage problems with his foxy wife, Jessica Rabbit, is framed for the murder of a club owner and looks to the private detective, Eddie Valiant for help - to which he reluctantly complies to clear his name, only to find out that their is some sketchy sh*t going on in the background.

kdrama recs!

although i already have a tag for my favorite asian dramas in general (check out here if you want) i wanted to make a post dedicated to the dramas i’ve watched that hit differently.... i’ll explain

these dramas aren’t necessarily my fave of all time or at the very top of my fave list, but i did enjoy all of them a lot. the dramas on this list are the ones i enjoyed from start to finish, every episode, practically every scene. the ones i did not want to end. they were easy to watch and the struggle to not click “next episode” was real. so if you’ve got nothing else to do maybe check one or two out!

‣ goblin

starring : gong yoo, kim go eun, lee dong wook, yoo in na, yook sungjae

plot : kim shin is turned into a goblin tasked with protecting certain people from the life of misery. the only way to end his immortal life is to find his bride that can set him free of his sword. kim shin accidentally becomes roommates with a grim reaper, wang yeo, and as natural enemies the two clash. ji eun tak is a high school student who is able to communicate with the dead. she gets involved with the goblin and grim reaper. could she be the goblin’s bride who holds the power to release him from his eternal misery and set his soul free?

thoughts : this is my number one (1) fave kdrama and drama over all! it has everything: unique plot, interesting characters, humor, drama, fantasy elements... this is the drama i’ll always recommend to anyone and everyone. there’s not a dull moment and there is always something that grabs your attention. the depth to each character is crazy and how they all connect is insane. you grow close to them all and end up routing for them with all your heart. couldn’t recommend it enough.

‣ high-end crush

starring : jung il woo, jin se yeon, yoon bora, lee si eon

plot : choi se hoon is the ceo of an entertainment company and knows his stuff well. he is very arrogant and doesn’t take no for an answer. yoo yi ryeong lives alone on a mountain and doesn’t have any desire for money and fame. the two cross paths and se hoon ends up offering yi ryeong a contract from his company, she rejects him. the determined businessman won’t give up on her and ends up developing feelings along the way. can two people from different worlds come together?

thoughts : the fact that i almost didn’t watch this drama will haunt me forever. i’m sO happY that i gave it a go. i expected nothing but ended up with so much. this mini drama made me laugh and cry, and took me on a hell of a ride. the story between the couple is hilariously sweet and melts my heart. jung il woo stole my heart with this drama, he did an excellent job as the lead and his character made the drama what it is. if you have 5 hours to spare i highly recommend this one, enjoyed every second.

‣ hospital ship

starring : ha ji won, kang min hyuk, lee seo won, kwon min ah

plot : song eun jae is a capable surgeon at a large hospital in seoul. due to circumstances she ends up quitting her job and boards a hospital ship that provides medical care for locals in rural villages. on board are army doctors who have unwillingly been assigned their posts, except for kwak hyun, who volunteered. although eun jae has a cold personality, she is perfectionist and very skilled. with her on board, the hospital ship is able to admit patients and help with the most critical medical problems, all while out at sea.

thoughts : honestly i didn’t have any expectations going into this one, but i was pleasantly surprised. all the different characters clashed together and made the story very interesting, everyone came together and became an unexpected family. all the cases they dealt with were just insaane and made the drama so entertaining to watch! they always had the odds against them but somehow made in through them. very addicting.

‣ extraordinary you

starring : kim hye yoon, rowoon, lee jae wook, lee naeun, kim young dae

plot : eun dan oh is a student at a prestigious academy. one day she discovers that the world she’s living in is a fantasy world of comics, and she isn’t even the main character! she is only an extra and the writer has set her up with a lame story line that she doesn’t want to follow. dan oh realizes she is one of the few characters that are aware and tries to change the story to free herself from the writer’s grip. she meets a nameless student, number 13, who dan oh thinks can be the key. they work together to try and change their fates, but this comes with a price to pay.

thoughts : this drama was almost impossible not to watch one episode right after another! suuch a cool plot and it was hard to try and predict what was going to happen next. the drama kept its secrets very well and dragged it out, making you as a viewer really miserable wanting to know more, but this is what made it so good. things uncovered slowly but surely and you changed your mind about things over and over. big brain energy on this one!

‣ cinderella and four knights

starring : jung il woo, park so dam, ahn jae hyun, lee jung shin, son naeun

plot : eun ha won feels alone in the world and has poor contact with her father and stepmother. she lives a hard life trying to find ways to pay for her education. she gets involved with the three famous and rich cousins : kang ji woon ; a rebel-minded loner, kang hyun min ; a playboy money machine and kang seo woo, a sweet singer-songwriter. because of ha won’s non-nonsense personality, the cousins grandfather thinks she’s the perfect person to discipline his spoiled grandsons to get along with each other. however in the process ha won finds herself in the middle of a quadrangle love story.

thoughts : man, honestly this drama is THE reason why i’m even making this list. i was hooked from the start and STAYED hooked the entire drama. park so dam being the queen she is played her character so fantastically, i love how powerful and confident her character is. how different the cousins personalities were made it hilariously interesting to watch. i myself fell in love with each guy and had the hardest time picking who to root for! second and third lead syndrome is real. this is the one drama that i can honestly say i did not want to end, i’d watch this forever if i could lmfao

‣ falling for innocence

starring : jung kyung ho, kim so yeon, yoon hyun min

plot : kang min ho is a cold-blooded corporate raider who treats his workers and people ruthlessly. he is self-defensive and a suspicious sociopath, but he suffers from heart problems and is expected to die in the near future. unless he gets a heart transplant from a suitable donor, he is done for. kim soon jung’s fiancé gets into a car “accident” which ends in fatality. luckily for min ho, the fiancé is a match and min ho gets another shot at life. after the heart transplant, min ho starts to notice changes in his behavior : a rare result of heart transplants. he ends up falling for soon jung and she teaches him the meaning of true happiness and what love is. are his feelings really his, or the memories from the previous owner of his heart?

thoughts : i thought this drama wasn’t gonna be anything out of the ordinary going into it, but i was wrong. the character development the main character went through is one of the best ones i’ve seen and very inspiring at that. how he went from night to day because of his transplant was really something to witness. jung kyung ho killed it obviously and made his character believable. seeing how the characters deal with the situation made me not being able to stop watching.

‣ one spring night

starring : jung hae in, han ji min, kim jun han, joo min kyung, lim sung eon

plot : lee jeong in decides to prioritize happiness in her life. she has a long time boyfriend who wants to marry her but she’s not so sure what she feels. to treat her hangover one spring night, she goes to the pharmacy. yoo ji ho is the pharmacist who ends up helping her. ji ho is a single dad and unsure whether a woman could want a man like him. he however immediately becomes interested in jeong in and does whatever he can to meet her in person. the two fall in love despite their situations. the two however now have to deal with the obstacles that family, friends and society sets for them.

thoughts : this drama is like a warm safety blanket for me. i started it on a whim, skimming through netflix just wanting to watch something before bed. i ended up clicking on this and booy am i happy i did. it’s a nicely slow-paced, sweet and romantic love story which touches your heart in the best way. the whole vibe of the drama is just... i don’t know how to describe it’s just... chill?? and nice?? and comfortable?? it was my night time drama before bed, so i have nice memories from watching it. loved their love story. also a+++ for the osts!!!

‣ madame antoine : the love therapist

starring : sung joon, han ye seul, jeong jinwoon, hwang seung un, lee joo hyung

plot : go hye rim is a famous fortune-teller known as “madame antoine” and insist she is spiritually connected to the late french queen marie antoinette. choi soo hyun is a highly awarded therapist specialising in women’s psychology. coincidentally, his psychological treatment center is also called “madame antoine”. soo hyun develops an experiment with the hypothesis that love does not exist. he tricks hye rim into participating in the experiment to study her behavior when approached by three different men. however, hye rim isn’t told what the experiment is about and doesn’t know that the men’s feelings for her are fake, or are they?

thoughts : a fortune teller and therapist love story?? sign me the f up!!! i loved seeing these two bicker every other second but overcoming their differences to be with each other. this couple is really what they mean by “you’re hot then you’re cold”, it was on, off, on, off all the time, but i also couldn’t be mad at it. the drama was easy to watch and i couldn’t not click the next episode. all characters were extremely likeable and made me wanna be friends with them too rip. after finishing this one i kinda wanna learn some psychology tricks..... they were both really cool ><

As far as he knows, Fresh has always considered you a friend. Love? Affection? That stuff is wack. Nobody’s got time for that. Besides, can’t feel love if he’s got no Soul, am I right? He just likes your company, your smile, how you go along with his tubular plans, wait what was he talking about? Oh, yeah, how he is totally NOT in love with you.You, on the other hand, got totally different vibes from him. As time passed, you saw him more and more. If you didn’t see him, he’d send you a message or a meme. Pretty much everyone around you thought you two were dating already. In fact, it made you wonder if you should take a shot with him.

One day, while he was hanging out at your pad you were cleverly plotting your move. He’s trying way too hard to make you grin like an idiot and the fact that he’s trying this hard alone is making you laugh. It’s endearing and he has no idea what he’s doing to you. Around the evening, he’s showing you something he’s been working on. A song, specifically made to annoy the shite out of Red. You purposely sat closer to him, leaned closer to him to listen through his headphones. Yes... It’s all coming together. As soon as he turned his head to talk with you, you made your move. He froze, with a thousand thoughts running through his mind. His metaphoric heart jumps out of his rib cage and he’s at a loss for words. Something he’s been pushing down for so long finally feels like it’s finally burst. Congrats, you’ve reduced him to a stammering mess, as he’s trying to say all his thoughts at once. Next thing you know, he’s out of sight, but you hear him screaming outside. You aren’t sure if it’s a good sign or a bad sign, so you stay put until he comes back.

Meanwhile, he cannot BELIEVE what’s happening to him now. HOW the wiggetty WACK does he have feelings for you?! HE DOESN’T HAVE A SOUL?!?!?! But here he is, a blushing mess and acting like a total doofus in front of you! GET IT TOGETHER FRESH, C’MON!He eventually comes back to you, trying to explain himself, and how complicated he.... Feels??? He guesses????

Alcohol! I see Malcom is taking notes from Jessica’s playbook! It definitely is not helping even a little bit.

Um. Why is the station wagon scary. Is he hallucinating or dreaming or...?

His mom is way too chipper for a morning. And I still very much do not trust her.

“Only one thing seems to help me. I need a murder.” Bro, that is not good. Also three people have said he looks terrible and that is not good.

“The game...with the players.” I want to make fun of him, but also Malcolm is me when it comes to talking about sports.

Oof, Malcolm and Dani’s disagreement got unpleasant. Odds are good she doesn’t like her narcotics stunt and odds are even better it’s gonna come up again.

Yikes, Malcolm’s hallucination is creeping me the heck out. Between the chains and the distant moaning...I absolutely love that he covers his flinch by saying he saw a bug.

Dani keeps defending this Estimé. Clearly he was important to her back in the narcotics day...

So Desir was wearing another layer that’s now gone. I’m getting Sweeney Todd vibes.

Rather sad that nobody showed up to Jessica’s dinner for charities. This chick who showed up looking for money to fight trafficking seems legit, though I’m always skeptical of new people in crime shows.

Mildly terrifying that Malcolm and Dani get summoned to Estimé’s office that fast. Also confirmed: Dani’s past in narcotics is crucial to the case.

What is Estimé so scared? Intriguing that his stress is what tells Malcolm Estimé didn’t do that killing. Equally interesting that his office and club get shot up.

...is Malcolm high?? I think he’s high. He’s definitely high. This is hilarious. Less hilarious is Gil snapping at Dani; Gil has Disappointed Dad vibes.

I’m 86% sure the actress playing Dani is two seconds from laughing. Aww, and now they’re talking about how they don’t have friends.

And now this trip is going starkly south. This boy’s hallucinations are honestly the worst. I’m intensely curious as to how Dani is going to handle Malcolm’s breakdown.

What do you wanna bet somewhere between hallucinating himself in place of his dad and seeing dead bodies, he’s going to have some epiphany about the woman in the box? Yep, yep, he gets a memory of a box.

Huh. Dani knocks him out. Gues I should’ve figured she’d do something like that to handle the situation. She’s not exactly touchy feely.

He’s really happy with five hours of sleep. I am a murderous goblin with five hours of sleep. the differences between Malcolm and me are vast.

Oof, Dani has a history of drug abuse while undercover and Estimé saved her. That makes sense for the bond between them.

I’m profoundly glad that Gil doesn’t make a huge deal out of Dani’s insubordination. They talk and she needs to fix it, but it’s not treated as an irretrievable mistake.

Eve looks so fascinated by Malcolm. I don’t trust her and this isn’t making it better. Though their meeting getting kicked off with Malcolm yelling “don’t worry, I’m not after your barbiturates!” to his mom and then telling them drugs exploded in his face...in a different show, that would be a total rom-com meet cute.

I like that the hostess talks to Dani without prompting, and I love that she talks about Estimé’s lover’s gift for doing hair like art.

The lover died. Yikes. Estimé would kill for her. Poor Dani. Though Dani and Malcolm bonding over how Gil saved them is adorable.

WHY would Dani just walk in?? I feel like this is an extremely bad idea. OH MY GOSH, and I just put it together! Called it with the barber reference!

Oh heyyy, Trini is the killer! I actually like that better than Estimé being the killer. And I love that Dani promises her daughter’s body to Trini.

That was darn close to being a gang war...

The tension between Estimé’ and Dani is well played. I didn’t realize what she was doing when she told the other gangster Estimé’ was dead, but giving him a way out of the life was nice.

Malcolm showing up with Dani’s favorite tea is adorable. And Dani allowing him to ask what’s wrong is genuinely sweet.

Oh heyyy, Jessica sent the box of photos! And after she implied she burned it! I completely love that it’s not just photos, it’s also random fun stuff like a spyglass. That memory of the station wagon is not fun, though. Heck this show.

so the Sagittarius full moon was wild. I finally moved to a place I’ve always wanted. It was almost a shock cause it feels like everything I’ve manifested came true. I did magic around spring equinox with a very mercurial witch (going to see her summer’s eve on Thursday!) who helped me with a spell using her type of singing magic. She does sound baths and singing chants and she taught me a chant she used when she was homeless to open a path for her to find an ideal home for her. The road opening chant worked and we made charm bags with natural ingredients inside such as dried organic petals that I would bury once I found my home.

Well I decided I was going to finish that ritual last night but also a great Sagittarian witch friend lives in North London and wanted to celebrate my move by getting drunk at the local tavern. So we caught up with life and drank a lot of whiskey (I bought some woodford oak shots in honor of sagittarius full moon), beer, and when we were getting broke we drank house whiskey and ginger beer. After we were drunk I was ready to part with her since she had to get up early then run off to the heaths to do my ritual but her being a sagittarius was like: Let me come with you fuck getting up early we gonna do some magic.

So 15 minutes later (which, it would have taken at least 15 minutes to walk to the heaths if I lead us but I let her do it) we are walking up nearing highgate and I am like WHEEEREEE are you taking us??? and its like old bougie cinematic tudor and gothic houses shrouded with ivy and old trees and essentially she lead us to the entrance of the swimming ponds. And it was really cool there were lots of groups of women out there like all clearly witches (I mean the Heaths is like incredibly magical and feels like another realm and it has not only become my sacred place but its like a living church to me but a lot of other witches obviously feel the same) but there were a trio of women in long white gowns with drums that were lost and we all greeted each other with Happy Full Moon! and helped them get back to the main road. We then descended into the darkness of the woods, like one path was so dark you could not see anything but you felt like you were diving into a black ocean with the waves of nightly breezes through the bodies of massive trees you could hardly see. The canopy blocked out the sky and any moonlight or light pollution. The energy felt so intense that my anxiety pulsed an electric-like feel up to my neck and ears that made me light headed. To be safe I did a quick protection spell with some incense I got when my dumbass was high and wandering around Amsterdam a few weeks ago and stumbled upon some fairy themed shop where they sold ridiculously named incenses such as Goblin’s Lair (the one that made me buy all of them cause I was just imagining burning that shit and my poor roommates going like: what the fuck is that smell?? And I would be emerging from my room in my long black gown like: ahh yes it is the ExquisiTe smell of my Goblin’s Lair incense.. but yeah once I bought that I bought all of them. The red is Demon’s Lust which smells kind of like a deep musky floral and I burned it before a date came over and the sex was FIRE, the yellow was Wizards Spell which was mainly patchouli based which is what I bought to the woods, the green is goblins lair which is earthy and cinnomanny, the blue is Fairy’s Mist which smells like airy floral or like violets and the purple is Unicorn’s Grace which is Aloe. ) Anyway I was burning the wizards spell incense around us making a shield then we carried on the path.

We reached the gate which in near-pitch darkness we had to climb over. I nearly busted my ass but once we reached the other side the energy changed Drastically! Like we entered another realm. It felt like a party vibe and when we got to the swimming ponds there were another group of women that were just finishing that greeted us with a happy full moon. They loved my incense and I gave them a stick lol. My friend and I went to the edge of the pond and I set up an altar space with a selenite tower, amber tealights and we did some manifestation spells. Then this girl just.. strips.. naked.. She’s like: Ok going in!! And like.. dives into the abyss of the pond.. It was NOT the warmest night. The water was like the void. But she swam out all the way to the middle and was howling: The MOOON!!! IT’s sooo beautiful!! I could only see her cause she is pale and the silver light reflected off of her just floating in darkness. Anyway I was kind of like: it’s sagittarius full moon go hard or go home, so I took off my clothes and tried to get in but my foolish ass at the time was like: oooh my godd I don’t want to get my haiirrrr wetttt (cause that would mean 2 hours the next day washing, blowing it out and straightening again) so I thought I could slowly descend into the icy abyss then wade over so most of my head would not go under which means I went in SLOWLY AND PAINFULLY oh my god when that water touched my ass OOOLORDTTT and she was all gleefully swimming in the distance all like: Look at the bats!! and I was just hoping my ass wouldn’t get sick lol. Anyway I finally got in and it was like.. the closest thing my physical body got to astral projecting. It felt like you were swimming through the veil. The water was black but moved around you like shimmering fabric that shined silver due to the moon’s reflection. I was trying to not think about it too much cause it was a bit psychedelic and eerie (and I can get visually overstimulated easily) but I was floating through this ice-fire abyss under the bright light of the moon. It was both so lunar yet so plutonian. Like my body felt so energized like it was on fire but it was an icy fire and I was so aware of my spirit. I was trying MY BEST! to not think about anything underneath me cause you could not see a THING in that water and my dumbass who loves watching horror movies was just trying to not let my imagination take the best of me wading through pure darkness so with every wade I was using my energy to also make a protective shield lol. Finally I get to her and we are having the best of time in this eerie other world looking at the MASSIVE silver moon in the sky. It felt unreal swimming under the full moon. I always have this heightened sense of energy around full moons like I wake up when it hits my bed but being in water underneath it felt like something was being awakened. Anyway we swim back cause its cold and my ass is out of shape and I am PANTING like I have ran a marathon so we get back and oh my god we were sooo wet. I used my shirt as a towel and just wore my dry sweater. We tried to warm our wet bodies over the arrangement of tealights in our makeshift altar but our bodies were just extinguishing the lights with all the water dripping on it haha. My hair is fully wet at this point and I am freezing, and I just pick a tree to go to to scatter the remains of the charm bag then we set off back into the dark path. The woods felt less intense and more welcoming like somehow our spirits were transformed and we were one with the shadows of the heath.

We got to the edge of the road and tried to order and uber and though both of our phones were at like 15 percent they DIED. So I was like: I just moved here I don’t know how to get home. And she’s like: I’ll walk you!! And it’s about 12:30AM. Anyway she takes me through ALL the most bizarre places in the area, like we pass through a gated community of tudor apartment complexes, the highgate cemetary, then at the end we find The Holly Village. We did not know what it was at the time (we thought it was some religious thing) but she realized the gate was open and before I knew it her curious fox-like snooping ass just wiggles into there and so I had to chase her down the moon lit gardens to Get Out before some old man in a cult notices us but the only local who noticed was the landlord (well it was a big fluffy cat that was watching us stoically from one of the old gothic home’s doorsteps, like we thought it was a statue or one of the gargoyles but she eventually moved) and she kept following us around no matter which garden we snuck around in to make sure we weren’t getting into trouble.

We eventually get home at nearly TWO AM and I am like you have to stay over with me cause you gotta get up early for work. So we have a cozy sleep and I knew my dreams were going to be wild that night which I had a really wild short dream. Basically it was really vivid, and I was there in this world of just blackness, but facing an endless black mirror. And my reflection I was dressed up ceremoniously. I started walking towards myself and the glass would ripple like water. I was going to walk into the wall of water fusing with this reflection but then I woke up.
