Thought that has plagued my mind (that I haven't actually brought up n rp) but imagine y/n finding out Tomura isn't his real name and after going through that mental whiplash, just genuinely asking him what he <I>wants</I> to be called.

Kinda just imagining the faces he'd make because it's not something someone would normally ask him? And him trying to figure out y ud care about something like that? Then realizing he's never thought about it either, he just did what AFO told him to and didn't consider it outside of necessity/ if it was something he actually wanted to do or not

I've been meaning to get to this sooner but the last two weeks I've been pretty much unconscious bc of my new meds 😭 (legit slept 12 HOURS the other night).

Tomura would probably disregard reader for a bit. Not in a rude way, but he'd likely just shrug and give no real answer, because he has no idea how to. The thought would stick with him for a while, though.

When you're a kid, you don't really question things, because your brain isn't fully developed enough (obviously), so as kids we accept almost everything adults tell us as fact. It's actually a common tactic used by some parents to get them to behave or teach certain lessons. For example: if a parent wants the child to stop misbehaving, they use Santa or "call" Santa on their phone as a way to keep the child from doing things they aren't supposed to.

This isn't to say tomura was "lied" to necessarily, but he didn't have the maturity level to be able to make decisions like that for himself, and understand he had a choice, so when afo gave him his new name, he didn't have any objections because... why would he? He grew up with the idea that his life and body- even his name, were not his. Of course he's not going to give his real name any thought because it wasn't really on the table. Up until this point, probably hadn't even thought of his real name at all.

Now, to circle back to the original question, how would tomura react beyond this? I would say after contemplating that option, he'd also wonder why reader would care enough to ask. Why do you care about what he wants? He can't really wrap his head around it, but now that the question has been asked, and now that he knows he has the option, he'd unsurprisingly choose his real name.

I think one of the biggest reasons he'd rather use his real name, is because he doesn't want to use a name given to him by someone who tried to control him. Tomura is not really the type to like being told what to do lol. I mean he is the leader after all. You'd be the first he allow to use his real name. Eventually the other members too, but you were the first who cared enough to ask, so naturally you're the first who he'll tell what he wants to be called. It won't seem like it in his facial expressions, but hes grateful you put that thought into his mind. He won't forget that.

A/N: I love casual angst that doesn't make me wanna throw myself into incoming traffic. Am I gonna read a fic about cheating tomura or cheating reader? Absolutely tf not. Will I read or write a fic that makes me wanna cry myself to sleep bc I can't comfort said fictional character? Absolutely.

I really wanted to redraw the part of s01e14 where Starscream grabs Knock Out’s face but in reverse… And since I posted fluff for day 13, I thought an edgier illust would be a fun contrast! I think they do love and care for each other despite being bad (SS) or weird (KO) at showing it, but both of them are still Horrible people with Problems so there’s also a lot of uncertainty and resentment between them.

Given their interactions in canon I feel like Knock Out has more to seethe about than Starscream (who rarely got mad at KO directly and more just doesn’t know how to not take his stress out on other people), but I don’t think all of KO’s grievances are valid LMAO It felt to me that he caught feelings (platonic and/or romantic), and when that energy wasn’t clearly reciprocated, his petty and narcissistic ass took it very personally.

I've been thinking for a while about the optional Magatama dialogue in The Cosmic Turnabout where you can prompt Fulbright about what's bothering him, and for both of the wrong answers, he acts like you got it right, and actively leans into the bit. For example, if you suggest that he's exhausted by life, he agrees and claims he's thinking about quitting his job and going to space. (Honestly, mood.)

(AA 5-4 and 5-5 spoilers below the cut)

It's a good line on its own: funny, and definitely relatable. With 5-5's context, though, it brushes up against a deep-seated desire to disappear, to run away and start over, something the Phantom hasn't been at liberty to do in years. He's shackled to a seven-year-old assignment, strangled by loose ends that he can't tie off. For maybe the first time in his life, he has to wake up every day and live with the effects of his actions, made blisteringly real in the form of the people he hurt.

(Do I think he's walking around harboring deep, profound remorse for UR-1? Not really, no. But the self-protective lie of "my choices don't matter because I'm not really a person" only goes so far when you're clocking into work every day to hang out with the guy who's on death row because of you, who's grieving because of you, and suddenly you're the only person he trusts to hear about the monster that ruined his life, and you planned for this but you didn't plan for this and honestly at that point I'd want to quit my job and throw myself into the vast expanse of space, too.)

Also worth noting, during this entire scene, any time Fulbright goes to answer a question or make an assertion about himself, the tinted glasses go up like a shield. Eyes hidden, hand obscuring the lower half of his face. It's something he does pretty regularly throughout the game, but it's egregious here. My man is on the defensive and he's giving absolutely zero ground.

But the big thing for me is the other "wrong" option, where if you claim that Fulbright is troubled by love, the Phantom's knee-jerk "yes, and," response is to tell a story about a carp named Love who ate a bunch of goldfish because he put them all in the same tank.

In the moment it's supposed to be absurd and comical and one more example of how hapless this guy is, but in retrospect, it's kind of telling that when the Phantom tries to conceptualize love in relation to himself, the first piece of Fulbright-flavored bullshit that comes to mind is about a creature that brings pain and death through mere proximity, not out of malice, but out of nature. As though, subconsciously, he's fixated on the notion of a foreign element that's been dropped into an otherwise peaceful space. A fish that seems like it belongs there until it devours the others.

He really could have said anything—he could have made up a story about a bad breakup, or a really sad movie, or a family member who died. He could have jumped to talking about Blackquill, and how he's concerned for his emotional state given the nature of the current case. But instead, his mind instinctively gravitates to a Love that consumes everything around it: a Love defined by its capacity for violence. There was never a world where the carp could exist alongside the goldfish without hurting them.

And idk. I feel like if he wasn't feeling some kind of way about that, then it wouldn't be bleeding into his Olympic-level improv gymnastics routine to convince Phoenix that he doesn't have any secrets and you can put the supernatural lie detector away now, thanks.

Like, please understand me. This is how I already interpreted these relationships after reading Journal 3 but like

Wow Ford really was in a weird kinda complicated gay situationship with Bill and Fiddleford, huh? When he's all alone on Christmas in tbob he's all like "Oh yeah haha of course...of course. You have. Yeah. You have a wife, F. How could I expect you not to leave. I am totally not secretly hoping you'll turn around and come back to me, or that you'll even bring your family back here if you have to so I can see you. I'd retreat to my dreams but I haven't seen my muse in weeks and I miss him so badly. I'm so alone"

He and Fiddleford aren't even dating but it's hard not to get the light impression that this situationship is such that Ford kinda treats Bill like his comfort triangle from his head and dreams and Fiddleford like his comfort best friend in his lab. Like he's sad on Christmas that his boyfriends left him alone, you know? Of course it's definitely more complicated than just that, but they are dear companions to him

Or when Bill finally comes back and Ford is pissed

"You return now? After all of that, after me missing you so badly, almost dying, wondering if I'd dreamed it all up. You return now like it was no biggie? Did you ever mean the things you said? Did you not find some other scientist or some other big brain to talk up? Have you found someone else? Another partner?"

And then Bill, dodging the question was like "Funny you think I'm cheating on you as if you haven't been spending all that time with F. The side bitch. The third wheel. You've even considered telling him everything, even though you know he has second thoughts. Heh. A little birdie told me he dreams of shutting down the project even."

Leading Ford to be like "Aw hell how could I accuse my muse of such a terrible thing when I haven't been a saint. He's right! F has been much less motivated lately and I've just gotten so paranoid from the isolation. I'm so sorry for my baseless accusations."

I don't even have a lot to say I just love these three. Fiddleford put up with a lot of shit from Ford while also dealing with his own problems and trying to help him regardless, while Stanford saw him as a comfort and a good friend but ultimately someone who was of lesser mind than he and couldn't see things through his eyes, while Bill was in Stanford's corner actively making him worse and contributing to his isolation (trying to get him to drop Fiddleford and actively feeding his paranoia), while Stanford was seeing both relationships of his with stars in his eyes and rose tinted glasses because he refused to do some introspection

There's so much stuff that journal 3 and tbob added to the equation that's just bad/shitty all around. Can't believe Ford went through a double divorce/breakup despite not having ever been married (or, at least, despite not even officially dating them sorta)

The entire situation in the past is just tragic and hilarious and concerning all at once and that's what I like the portal trio for tbh

Lilia Vanrouge’s Armor

I haven’t really seen anyone talk about this but there’s a scene in book 7 finale that had me questioning what happened to Lilia’s armor. 🧐🤔

In the scene in the Wild Rose Castle, Lilia tells Silver and Sebek that their weapons and armor are made from mystium which is a rare metal these days and he wishes that such weapons didn’t need to be used nowadays but there’s no choice.

But what I find funny? Is how Lilia tells Silver and Sebek that they can melt down their armor and get a pretty penny for it. They’ll get enough money to buy even a mansion or two. He’s say it so nonchalantly and both of the boys say they’ll never do that rather loudly. 😂😂

But do you see where I’m going with this? This scene had me pausing and going “wait a minute.” Because we’ve seen Lilia’s weapon and we know what happened to that weapon before it was discovered in Lilia’s room at NRC (it was used for chopping wood lmao).

But what we haven’t seen? Was his armor. They might have kept it secret to surprise us for his general card, but he also doesn’t wear it to the party either.

We don’t know anything about it or what happened to it. And with Lilia saying what he did during this scene…

What if he sold it?!? 😂😅😆

I mean…how else would he know how much it’s worth? Is this how he funded going on all those trips?!?

I assumed that he got some money from Maleficia for his services or he accrued money from his time as the general, but what if he sold his armor?? 🤣🤣

And that’s how he funded his trips abroad?? Had food and such for home? Used that to buy souvenirs. Etc.

It would explain his constant spending and all his electronics and they haven’t mentioned his income in the game so…

What if he really sold it?!? 😂😆

doing my first Harrow the Ninth re-listen-to, and being struck by a few things so far--

Augustine drawling after Harrow says something snarky that maybe she really is "Anastasia come again"

Abigail's ghost (Abighost?) saying that she doesn't know where lyctors go [when they die]

Jod telling Harrow that her parents did a sort of resurrection, and also she's a miracle/he's not sure how it was possible (*assuming he's not lying, which, y'know)

+ To a lesser extent, the analysis I've seen about Anastasia x Alecto and Nona kissing her reflection and finding herself very attractive, etc

Not to say Harrow is literally Anastasia reincarnated, but kind of wondering about the broader implications of what Jod said about Harrow; & what if somehow Anastasia's soul remnants got roped into Harrow's conception. Rolled over in her grave too hard at it and got involved. (+thinking about lots of smaller things about Harrow's relationship to Alecto....)

one of the things that I found particularly interesting in Demigods of Olympus is that it finally gives the best direct comparison we've seen so far between Percy and another character's experiences in terms of academics and particularly ableist discrimination.

The way Zane describes his experiences and what we see in his POV is that, while he is similarly discriminated against for his "atypical" behavior and blame is placed on him, the only sorts of punishments he receives for this are relatively benign, such as an increase in counseling. (It is also notable that Zane is somewhat autistic-coded, such as having the "incorrect" scripts when speaking with adults and Sam explicitly reminding him to remember to make proper eye contact.) Percy, on the other hand, similarly experiences discrimination for "atypical" behavior, but whereas Zane is treated as "too smart for his own good" and given slaps on the wrist, Percy is automatically labeled as aggressive, destructive, and a trouble-maker based on preconceived assumptions about him and is more severely punished, such as being frequently expelled.

We rarely get this level of direct comparison between Percy's experiences and that of another character, particularly such similar experiences, so looking at the differences is really interesting to gauge what their different experiences with ableist discrimination is like - and how it could potentially tie into intersectionality and other forms of discrimination at play for them.

For instance, Zane's parents are generally heavily implied to be middle-class and/or generally financially secure, versus Percy who grew up poor, so it could be classism in combination with ableist discrimination. Alternatively, it could be intersectionality with racial discrimination, as neurodivergent behavior in people of color is significantly more likely to be punished more severely and labeled as aggressive or disruptive behavior due to racist preconceptions - particularly since we know Percy's experiences with ableist discrimination are also somewhat based on assumptions people make regarding his appearance. Both Zane and Percy are racially ambiguous - Zane's appearance essentially being completely unspecified, but Percy at least having some notable details such as having a deep tan complexion. If not racism, it could also be colorism, which in this context often has similar intersectionality. There's a lot of potential options.

It's just very interesting to me! I love having such a direct point of comparison to examine the experiences of two characters within.

The Holy Trinity : project "Apple", "Eden" academy and "Garden"

In Genesis, the apple from the Garden of Eden is most commonly known as the fruit of knowledge and, to this day, we know Project Apple created experiments such as Anya (mind reader) and Bond (future seer). I'd say reading minds and seeing the future count as being "very knowledgeable".

Meanwhile Eden Academy is an elite school, represented by an apple on the students' uniform, in which parents of specific elite children (Imperial Scholars) have secret meetings (which Donovan has access to, thanks to Demetrius).

Also, as we know, Donovan studied there (and at some point gained telepathic powers too) and Henderson's flashback also taught us that there was a lot of war propaganda in the school back then :

Lastly, there is Garden, a secret organization, more of a legend even to a spy like Twilight, but who has super strong (no mental inhibitors ?) and probably indoctrinated soldiers, like Yor, working for them.

Eden Academy used to be pro-war and is today one of Ostania's most elite schools, super secret Project Apple wants world peace (probably meaning for Ostania to be in charge of that "peace")...

and Garden, a seemingly Ostanian organization, desires "to keep this world beautiful".

The link between all 3 can probably be summed up as "knowledge is power", which also sums up Twilight's entire mission as a spy for Westalis, trying to know what war Ostania (via Desmond who is confirmed to be able to read minds) is planning.

Lastly, the fact Anya's powers may be related to the use of classical language, a dead language most likely only taught in elite schools like Eden nowadays, is one more argument linking Eden academy (knowledge) and Project Apple (intellectual power).

As for Garden, they seem to specialize in physical prowess but if Yor's strength was indeed enhanced, surely it required a good amount of specific knowledge to unlock her mental inhibitors (and then to indoctrinate her).

(I'd also like to point out that Garden describing the world as a "beautiful place to protect" makes even more sense considering they probably took in several war orphans like Yor and made them "useful".)

TL;DR we don't know entirely how yet, but surely there is a link between Garden, Eden Academy and Project Apple and, according to Project Apple who wants "world peace", surely that can only mean war.

acting student getting sick over how well developed the falsettos characters were largely because of their original actors. like obviously it originated from the mind of finn and lapine but you don't understand how much a good actor adds to the scope of the character... inventing physicality, voice pattern, mannerisms, quirks... specific objectives and interpretations... and they got to work with those characters intimately for YEARS... over a decade! i mean the thoroughness and collaboration that obviously went into each character when you watch how the obc portrays them like god.... they know those damn characters! those are their babies. their creations

I can't stop thinking about how whenever Max and Daniel are asked about the other in interviews, the attributes they highlight are often the opposite of how they portray themselves.

Starting with Max: he has said on multiple occasions that what he likes most about Daniel is that he's always laughing and bringing joy and fun to everything he does. While we know that Max likes to have fun and goof around, it's not his thing to be a beam of sunlight all the time; that's just not his persona. Yet, that's what he appreciates most about Daniel, and he has no problem letting us know interview after interview.

Daniel, on the other hand, has mentioned more than once that what he likes most about Max is his candidness, how genuine and himself he is. "Max is Max" sums up what Daniel admires about him. In the end, what Daniel appreciates most about Max is his lack of performativeness. Meanwhile, Daniel is as theatrical and histrionic as it gets; that's what he's known for (I'm not saying he is disingenuous, but it's a very different way of presenting himself to the world than Max).

To top it all off, they both know they have chemistry together, and they bounce really well off each other. At first glance, these two shouldn't work together as well as they do or even like each other as much as they do, and yet, here they are.

Opposites and all of that.
