Raise you hand if you know the connection between: Noah's Ark story, and the biblical word חמס.

I don't know how coincidental this was, but for the Hebrew speaking person, the word "HAMAS" has an actual, biblical meaning:

Violent pillage and raiding, robbery (and any form of taking what's not yours), looting, overall violence, imoral behavior, oppression, and any possible associated wrongdoing. Rape would be within those definitions as well.

In the Bible, God tells Noah to build an Ark for those he intends to keep safe, for the land was "filled with hamas", and he plans to purge the evildoers with.... a great flood.

Who called for a Great Flood on the 7th? Who boasted of their acts and called them "flood" and "deluge"?

Now I may be Jewish, but I'm hardly anywhere as observant. I am secular. But I can recognize symbolism when I see one.

Reads "hamas".

The word occurs in biblical and religious texts many more times, in relation to bad rulers and sinning societies.

In this symbolic context, when Israel says. "HAMAS has embedded itself within the population of Gaza", what you also say is, "the Land is full of violence and immorality, and has to be purged of it".

In modern times, the two weeks prior to the incursion and counless calls for evacuation, the humanitarian corridor and the humanitarian zones are your Noah's Arks.

ah yikes... so my knee jerk reaction is "the 100 rat-sized horses, certainly, as those can be picked off one at a time." however the risk of my conscience catching up to me by the 30th or 40th horse is too great. how much death could I inflict upon these rat-sized horses before I vow to see death no more? even if pure survival instinct drives me through all 100, what of the aftermath? surrounded by the carnage of 100 tiny horses with only my own wet breath among 100 still chests? inconceivable. war is hell.

the way that right before dean punches sam in bloodlust he kind of makes himself look less threatening, smiles a little bit, shakes his head, and then turns around and absolutely swings at him. he wants sam to be surprised by it !! he does want it to hurt !! he does get some level from satisfaction in the act & what it means and that’s really really crucial to just how dean is.

Voldemort has a love for books that rivals Hermione’s. The nebulous feel of Voldemort’s consciousness at the periphery of Harry’s would suddenly snap into laser focus at the forefront of his mindscape whenever Harry studied from a text that piqued his interests. Would practically push Harry aside if he found his attention or notes lacking.

Voldemort's hunger for knowledge was limitless in subject-matter, and makes for a surprising complement to Harry’s wandering mind. Voldemort indulges Harry’s genuine questions where other’s brushed him off or scolded, even finding some amusing. Especially the random thoughts like: aren’t Santa’s elves an awful lot like house elves and did that make Santa a wizard, and what exactly was the difference between alchemy and chemistry, or if there's applied mathematics, does that mean there’s unapplied mathematics?

If the current topics are connected to one of Harry’s classes, Voldemort has him search through specific readings, and circles around conversations with pointed remarks until Harry comes to his own conclusions. He makes learning… enjoyable for Harry. Reminds him that professor Quirell’s instruction was partially responsible for Defense being Harry's favorite subject.

A fact about Richie is that he tried isolating himself in the Glowing Sea before his long trek out to the Mojave Desert. He had just cut all ties in the Commonwealth and heard the earth-shattering news that Mr. House was still alive. He thought the tough conditions in the Sea might calm him down and set him straight, but it turns out manifesting about the man who doomed you in a twisted hellscape isn't very healthy. His time spent there only turned his heartbroken anger into a full blown revenge quest. Surely killing an old flame would make him feel better...right?

The fact of the matter is, even if he hadn’t passed the point of no return in the Sea itself, it would have happened somewhere else eventually. His steady decline was inevitable because he is just... so hard on himself, refusing to accept any kind of help or prolonged companionship. Under his confident exterior, the guilt and grief is eating him alive, and sadly all this self-destruction leeches out onto his friendships and lovers as well.

The sorrows of a man who needs to feel love to be okay, but snuffs it out before it can grow...

do you guys ever think about fiona dragon age. at this point she has outlived most of her former comrades with whom she had gone through joining. there's a good chance she'll outlive her son no matter king or not because no crown can stop the taint in his blood. do you think about her being the only one who got lucky among her squad and the order as a whole. do you think about her getting free both as a warden and then a mage but still never escaping that one curse of watching people she cared about slowly fade away

Another bg3 thought dump but I've been thinking about this all day. I think a big part of why I love the Boat Scene in Gale's romance (or at least the version I've played), and really Gale's Romance in general, is bc there's so much potential for nuance.

My Tav, Zephyr, isn't particularly faithful to any one god or the gods in general (though she does enjoy studying faerunian theology), and so in theory she's not against opposing and maybe even deposing Mystra. But she knows that many of the "gods" of the modern era were once mortals, and until the cycle can be broken she doesn't want anyone, least of all someone she cares about, to take that risk and lose themself.

When I first got to the Boat Scene, I couldn't help the feeling of dread I got bc I was sure Gale and Zephyr were about to break up. Bc I knew how strongly Gale wanted this and for (mostly) the right reasons, but I also knew Zephyr wasn't going to budge. And I feel like in many games, that would be that; characters disagree, they break up. Even though Zephyr would be against it for Gale's sake, bc she loves who he is, not who he could be.

But the dialogue is so interesting bc it actually lets them argue about it, while also giving the player to stay with him anyway.

"This doesn't have to be the end for us."

"But I could be so much more to you."

Now true source of Gale motivation is revealed. He feels like he's not enough. Which allows Zephyr to reiterate that he is, and they stay together and even grow closer!

It just makes both characters feel very real to me, and I appreciate that they can talk and argue until they get deeper and deeper into why the other one feels this way. It's almost like how couples actually are in real life!

Never thought I would say this, but there are some relationship dynamics happening in MMDIY and TSOU that sort of link the two together in my mind for an interesting conversation about the difference between 'unhealthy' vs 'toxic' relationships. And while TSOU has some very strong emotional acting (which is the real draw for me and I will continue to praise the actresses for it), the last episode really places it below MMDIY in terms of how these relationships are being tackled within each respective series. I'll see TSOU through before I pass any final judgement... but boy do I have a lot to say
