#and it made me really bitter and angry at both the people who caused them & the people that didn't know how to deal with me

Was doing some thinking today and realized that one of the reasons I'm really drawn to Kieran is because he's a rare example of a character that's shy (and usually good-hearted) but still has some rougher edges to him.
I feel like all too often shy characters are shoved into being portrayed as either "smol bean who would never hurt anyone and just wants friends uwu" or "brooding loner who snaps at people to cover up the fact they don't actually know how to socialize" with not a lot of wiggle room in between. While I can and do enjoy characters that (arguably) fall into those respective categories, they're a bit reductive in the sense that things are very rarely that black and white in reality. Even the kindest people have a limit to what they can tolerate. They have bad days or respond poorly to events around them that cause them stress. And the same can be said in reverse as well—point being, people are multifaceted and don't always behave as predictably as we'd like to think.
And I think Kieran reflects that dichotomy perfectly. When we first meet him, he's meek, timid, and relies heavily on his more brash and forceful older sister to help him navigate social situations where he would otherwise lose out on something valuable because he's too afraid to come forward and ask for what he wants (like how she has to ask the player to battle him on his behalf). He's often quick to cower whenever she starts to get heated, but he's also not afraid to point out when he thinks she's wrong and sometimes even gets sassy with her himself. He's undeniably sweet and gentle and shows eagerness to make friends with the player, but he becomes much more curt when he notices we're lying to him about Ogerpon. The rest of the Teal Mask storyline shows him fluctuating even further—yelling at Carmine and the player for keeping secrets from him, punching things in fits of anger...then backpedaling and apologizing for the trouble he caused a few scenes later. Spreading the truth about Ogerpon to everyone in the village to help make her happy...then selfishly demanding a battle to see who's worthy of being her Trainer when she has already clearly chosen the player.
After being lied to and suffering repeated losses at our hands (including the Pokemon he's idolized all his life choosing us over him), he leans even more heavily into his bitter side during the Indigo Disk—being cold and ruthless to pretty much everyone around him, but at the end of the day it's primarily overcompensation for what he perceives as his own personal weakness (because he's still just a kid trying to be taken seriously). He's shown to drop the act on multiple occasions—most notably when he's caught off guard by our appearance at Blueberry Academy and at a few points during the Area Zero expedition. He antagonizes the player up until the moment of his defeat and tries to catch and use Terapagos in a last-ditch moment of desperation that ends up going horribly wrong, but after everything resolves he's quick to admit his mistakes and asks the player for forgiveness and if they can still be friends. After the epilogue he's mostly back to his old self, but still seems to get worked up when provoked (e.g. when he yells at Drayton for refusing to stop calling him "ex-Champ" in one of their League Club Room interactions).
And I think this varied and sometimes contradictory behavior is precisely why Kieran is such a cohesive and believable character—because it shows how even kind, well-meaning people may have a hidden darker side that can show itself under the right circumstances. How they might let their insecurities get the better of them. How a shy, timid kid might not have the experience to know how to deal with sudden feelings of frustration and/or jealousy that are far too strong to keep to himself, so he lashes out as a result. How despite all this he remains kind, sensitive and loving at his core and shows willingness to learn from his mistakes. And that is what makes him so compelling to me.
#mel's musings#kieran#pokemon#all this to say i now have brainrot and you all are going to suffer for it#me: *sees any pokemon boy with attitude problems* son? son boy? he my son boy? ;_;#kieran is also. oddly relatable to me in a way#in the sense that i was a neurodivergent kid whose overstimulation issues among other things weren't taken seriously#and it made me really bitter and angry at both the people who caused them & the people that didn't know how to deal with me#i lashed out a lot back then. i yelled and hit and said things i didn't mean and lied so i could stay in control#and while i still think i deserved better than the shit the adults who were responsible for me put me through#i do regret a lot of what i did. and i try to make up for it by being as patient as i can with others#ALSO. oc tangent time. kieran and denise are very similar in this regard#dena felt a lack of control w/ her dad leaving but couldn't blame him bc then she'd have nowhere to vent her anger#but she's also too young and too hurt to blame herself. so she lashes out at her mom instead (granted. jen made some poor choices too)#but after her treasure hunt and her first trip into area zero she sees things in a different light and is able to reconcile with her#and that's the exact reason she's able to forgive kieran so quickly. bc she had been through a similar thing with jen#i am filled with a whole WHIRLWIND of ideas for my au denise and this cast are a match made in HEAVEN#forest for the tree#mel plays scarvi

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and PAVITR had known each other for a while, long enough that he trusts you with his secret of being Spiderman with how close you two were.
Now you were on one of the tallest buildings in Mumbattan, swinging your feet over the ledge as Pavitr sat beside you with his hand unintentionally holding onto yours firmly since there was a small bit of lingering fear at the idea of you falling.
"Jeez, finally.. a break." He sighs in relief, taking off his mask with his free hand as you chuckle. "Isn't being Spiderman supposed to be sooo easy, Pav?" You teased, watching him roll his eyes in amusement. "Well, of course it is. But it certainly is busy, and I really just wanna spend time with you." Pavitr answers honestly, noticing how you seemed to be even just a little surprised and he was very entertained by that idea. You can already see his own little smirk beginning to form.
You clear your throat to hopefully shift the topic. "What made you so burnt-out today then?"
It didn't take long for you to see how his face shifts to a frown, and you knew exactly what he was about to bring up. "Miguel.. he's been so hard on some of us recently, especially the new-comers who he introduced the 'canon events' to." Pavitr runs a hand through his hair, his sigh was a mix of sadness and frustration as he recalls the events that occured earlier in the day. "They just want to save their loved ones.. no one can accept that kind of information and simply allow it to happen, you know?"
You nod along with his statement, unable to even imagine the dread those people must feel, just waiting for the people they care about most to die for their own development.
"But that's a sad topic, and today is supposed to be a nice resting day for the both of us." Pavitr smiles a little to lighten the mood, squeezing your hand softly as you take a deep breath. "Mines not been the best either.."
The smile he tries to hold falters at those words.
"Mom.. she's still very insistent on the arranged marriage." You let out a forced and bitter laugh. "I don't.. I mean, I don't know if I want to marry that person when I'm older. I've met them twice, Pav. And in the future, I have to spend every single loving who is essentially a stranger. Isn't that even a little weird in my parents eyes?"
He hated seeing how hopeless you looked, having no choice in who you want to love is devestating and in some cases lonely. Seeing real couples on the street and wondering what kind of innocent love you're likely missing out on.
Pavitr stands up and your head follows him as he does so, watching his determination-filled face as he pulls you up with ease. "Let's not wallow in sadness, yes? I'd much rather see you smile than frown." His hand makes its way to your cheek, causing you to chuckle softly as you lean into the touch and place your hand over his. "Thanks, Pav."
And without thinking, the next sentence you manage to stupidly utter out is; "Gosh, I wish you were the one I married instead."
You can see the visible surprise in his face when you say that, before you realize what exactly escaped your lips. "W-wait..-"
But it seems like Pavitr seems more affected than you, the hand once placed on your cheek immediately pulled back to cover his mouth and the uncontrollable but flustered smile on his face.
"You want to marry me??"
Instead of a mocking or angry tone, he seems genuinely happy that the person he's had a secret crush on for year or so finally gives some sort of hint that he's more than a friend.
"Do you mean it? Like.. really mean it?"
"I mean, yeah! Anyone would want to marry you.."
There's silence exchanged between the two of you, staring at each other in confusion, disbelief and surprise.
"What? Are we about to kiss right now?"
Pavitr teased to ease his nerves, but imagine how much worse they got when you actually started to lean in. He begins to quietly panic, however in all honesty he wants to do nothing else but kiss you at the moment. What if he never gets the chance to do it again? He couldn't risk that.
He finally presses his lips against yours, albeit very very nervously but a kiss is a kiss and goodness is he into it. Pavitr melts into the intimacy, but is very quick to pull away incase you're uncomfortable.
It seems almost impossible how fast his heart is racing when he watches your eyes flutter open and the realization that you actually kissed Pavitr rushes through your head quickly.
...
"Can we do that again..?"
"Gladly."

Okay, I had a thought a few days ago and have been trying to get it right. But. I think I figured it out. (Don't expect 100% accuracy)
So, Pallas and Athena. Athena bursts out of Zeus' head, and confusion and chaos and Hera, so Athena ends up at Triton's camp/school/military base thing. There, she meets Pallas, Triton's daughter, and as such, is Poseidon's granddaughter. The two become close, very close. I've seen them be close as sisters and be lovers, and I'm not 100% sure what they were, but, I mean, they were Greek...
Nevertheless, Pallas means everything to Athena. Athena grows close with Pallas' family, I mean, her mom lives in her dad's head and said dad kicked her out, so...
Then, tragedy strikes. Pallas dies at Athena's hand. Whether it is a true accident, or Zeus' pride... Athena doesn't know what to think. She is sent away, basically banished by the grieving, who forget that she, too, is grieving a great loss.
Poseidon remains bitter, and continues pushing Athena away. They both remain bitter towards the other for thousands of years, and encourage their children to do so as well.
Put a pin in that.
Remember how there were a bunch of people that were really angry about Annabeth's casting? They were wrong, of course, but hear me out. Leah does look practically opposite to how Annabeth was described in the books. In fact, Walker looks more like Annabeth than Leah does (though, you gotta admit, they are their characters irl too, especially Walker)(also, i think the Annabeth being assumed to not be smart because she was blonde doesn't work as well as institutionalized and the many other types of racism. Athena's "gift/curse/however Annabeth described it" is still at play, so people really need to stop it with the hate towards Leah and Riordan)
ANYWAY I think it would be interesting if they made blondeness/light hair a Poseidon trait, and that's why Athena has avoided it like the plague since Pallas' death: its too painful. Contrastly, Poseidon gives his children light hair in honor of Pallas, as well as to torment Athena.
Specifically, Percy looks basically exactly like Pallas. It would drive this point further if the casting of Athena looks just like Annabeth, too. Thus, when Athena first tells Percy, "I do not approve of your relationship with my daughter, " we see so much more than just a spat over Athens (I mean, really, a salt water spring?), we see a romance to last the ages, and a tragedy who's thorns grow ever sharper. Athena is not just being selfish, not wanting a reminder of love lost, but she knows the fierceness of an ocean's love, and would not wish it lost on anyone, especially one of her own. Percy has had a choice thrust upon him: he will be the project child. To the best of everyone's knowledge, Percy will die at 16. Athena will do everything in her power to not hear her daughter cry tears over a child of the sea, not even she knows then so well herself.
(It could also be interesting if Percy looks like a mix of Athena and Pallas (because we know genetics are weird with the Gods), since that would cause extra pain in Athena's heart)(also makes Poseidon extra sad)
(OR Athena makes all her children look like Pallas to honor her. I don't like that one as much)
I also really like an idea I had that it was NOT Poseidon and Athena who invented the chariot, or however that went. Pallas and Athena invented it together, and Athena still uses that first chariot to this day.
Also, it could add some nuance to the Mark of Athena. When the Romans stole Athena, they erased Pallas from her story. Minerva looks like Pallas, and her love for Pallas is gone. She is not just searching for herself, she is searching for the string so interwoven with her own they are the same: she is searching for the soulmate erased from her story.
ALSO, or would be interesting to see this dynamic play out in the 4th book, when Percy is thought to be dead.
I want this to be released as a short film (I would be a great Pallas???? Think about it???? Am I selfish to think that??? Ambitious??? Yes???? What's your point?????????)

The Keeper Kid's Fatal Flaws
This is a response to @ahoyimlosingmymind asking what we thought the keeper kids' fatal flaws were, and it has been in my drafts for a hot second.
These are half headcanons half canon, and I'm just doing the main five cause if I did all of them it would take a million years
Sophie struggles a lot with putting pressure on herself to be perfect. She keeps a lot of secrets, but in her brain, she's trying to protect others, including her friends, family, bodyguards, etc, etc. She often gets stuck in this loop, of "Oh, I have to be perfect, I'm the moonlark. Everything is up to me." when in reality, everyone in her life wants to help her.
Keefe wants to protect others. That's why he's reckless, that's why he ran off both times, and and that's why he doesn't share anything about himself. He doesn't want people to feel sorry for him. He struggles a lot with being open, and like Sophie, keeps a lot of secrets to protect others, just in a different way. Keefe also struggles with inferiority, especially when he compares himself to Fitz. He talks a big game, but Keefe is really insecure.
Fitz struggles with a lot, but his biggest flaw, in a way, is his loyalty. HANG WITH ME HERE. If you think about it, my boy is incredibly loyal. He follows Sophie to the Forbidden Cities, he trusts his dad enough to do anything for him, he's loyal to his friends, and his family. Because of this, when something happens to someone who has his love and loyalty, he gets protective, and in that vein, angry. (i.e. when Alden's mind broke, he got mad at the world, and at Sophie, when he found out Alvar, someone he was loyal to, was a traitor, he got angry etc etc)
Biana struggles with inferiority. She always feels like she's lesser than everyone else because she's been told that (whether directly or indirectly) her whole life. She's been living in her brothers' shadows for her whole life, and then Sophie came along, grabbing everyone's attention instantly, which made Biana jealous, and gave her another shadow to live in once they became friends. Both Biana's brother, and her former crush liked Sophie, which had to make her feel inferior.
Dex struggles with jealousy and because of that jealousy- bitterness. His jealous attitude towards Fitz is what birthed the circlet that Sophie had to wear, and most of the mistakes Dex has made, whether it's with his tech, or with his friendships, are formed from jealousy. He was bitter towards Stina (and everyone else) for making fun of him and his family, so he was mean to her, put stuff in her drinks, etc. He got jealous and bitter when Sophie was hanging out with other people. He gets jealous of people whose skills seem more important than his. He's full of bitterness towards the elven world as a whole.

could we mayhaps hear a bit more about the double trouble eclipse au?
Sure! I can talk about it!
So me, being the Ruin apologist I am, decided to make an AU that's a lot like the canon up until it was revealed Ruin was faking it the entire time
In this AU, Ruin's cured personality is their real personality, and they actually did have the virus at some point. They still have the plans to wipe all the universes with the creator, but here they grew a lot closer to the celestial family and is devastated by the fact that Solar would die.
So instead of immediately enacting the plan, they try to find a way to keep Solar alive.
BUT.
They know that they can't do this alone
They know the others wouldn't be willing to help them because the idea of killing that many universes is insane.
They would need someone who also has a bit of an unstable and strange mindset
Enter: Eclipse
Begrudgingly, Ruin makes Eclipse not as a distraction, but as an assistant (they also made them super tall for some reason). Of course, this Eclipse - while similar - was made with an altered personality because Ruin didn't want to deal with THAT much of an asshole
The two of them at first are pretty bitter towards each other because.... Eclipse kinda just doesn't like anyone, and Ruin doesn't like Eclipse. Plus Eclipse is probably a little upset that this short robot can tell him to do anything and he has to do it because of his programming
But over time, they slowly warm up to each other because they're forced to always work together, eventually leading up to the current moment where they're close friends (and maybe something more??? We'll see :] )
A few extra details that I wasn't really sure where to put that more of just have to do with the characters themselves.
Eclipse is a very up front, no sugar coating guy with a pretty negative attitude towards everything. Usually he's either wearing a blank or bored face expression, or angry at something. But he does have a soft spot. ....Somewhere. It's also kind of obvious to everyone but Ruin that Eclipse as a thing for them. You know, that classic trope. This is still V3 Eclipse.
Ruin, like I said, has the cured personality. For the most part. The virus did somewhat alter their personality, causing them to be pretty aggressive at times. Think of a chihuahua, in both the height and anger issues. They potentially have either some sort of weird superiority complex, or some liking to tall people. No idea why else they made Eclipse so tall. They also somehow manages to be both incredibly intelligent and incredibly oblivious. How? Uh.... Because I said so that's how (I'll think of something probably)
The others are all in this AU too. For personalities, just think of how they currently act + Nexus is still New Moon with the good guy personality. While they're here, they're not very relevant characters other than for the plot and occasional interaction. Few other things; Molten has not shown up, and Dark Sun is around but mostly irrelevant for a while
For now I think that's it? More things need to be fine tuned, and some things may change, but that's the basic idea of what I currently have I'm pretty sure!

I'll admit: I'd always been a little skeptical about the rumors regarding Lyn-Z/Lindsey Way, thinking that they were exaggerated by jealous fangirls and bitter former friends--that is, until I learned about the incident regarding a victim who was only 16-years-old when she experienced harassment. Especially when more than one person has backed this up; I doubt it was one person spreading different messages over the Internet. Jessicka Addams herself even admitted to contributing to this!
Someone on the My Chemical Romance subreddit, who claims to be the victim's longtime friend, shared the whole story. If anything, the comment only strengthened the theory that Lyn-Z was the one behind the NoWayMikeyWay blog, a similar debacle that clearly caused Mikey and his then-girlfriend a lot of distress. They definitely have a point with Lyn-Z's insecurity--her having sent the victim an E-mail saying, "If me and Gerard were dangling off a cliff, I know who you would save"--as I recall, on Twitter, the victim believing that Lyn-Z started to dislike her over what Chantal Claret told her about her crush on Gerard, and believed her, rather than acting like a civil adult and talking to the teenager about her feelings for a grown and married man.
I corresponded with this Reddit user, who believes that Lyn-Z and Chantal were the mods of NoWayMikeyWay, as a member of the band divorcing his wife for a fan was apparently Lyn-Z's biggest nightmare come true. Even after being threatened to not attend any of Gerard's solo tour shows, the victim still has a bit of a soft spot for Lyn-Z, whom she was so besotted by and treasured their initial connection (I guess, hence why she won't take her friend's advice to make a legal case out of this; why it's taken until only recently, in her late 20s, to realize how inappropriate their friendship was). The angry and mean-spirited messages she'd gotten, painting her as a stalker, led to having a great impact on her mental health, losing both online and real-life friends, and job opportunities. She’s not in either the MCR or MSI fandoms anymore, and I can't blame her. Also, Lyn-Z may have apologized privately, but the thing is, she's never addressed her harmful actions publicly.
Before, I'd noticed a pattern of behavior with the similar stories, shared by @lynzuglyliar, @mysterygarbage, @unmaskinglynz and @loverofmenartandpasta, and, while I did say I was skeptical prior, I definitely believe them now. If a man sent a teen girl messages saying, "I think you're super special. Can I keep you?" he'd readily be labeled a predator. I feel like the public have only recently become more critical of female groomers, given the whole Colleen Ballinger situation last Summer; plus, the amount of criticism geared toward Miss Grundy in the 1st season of Riverdale. Even if it wasn't sexual, Lyn-Z and the Coven gained this girl's trust, showered her with affection and invited her over, etc. And, really, are these accusations surprising, when members of her social circle have been accused of the same thing (Jimmy, Chantal, Jessicka)?
If Lyn-Z is still this possessive over Gerard today, then it makes the thought of what their marriage has been like behind closed doors heart-wrenching. And all the more infuriating when people continue to brush off these claims as nothing but being made up by jealous fangirls who only want Gerard to themselves.

The Tyler Split Personality Theory
AKA why Tyler Galpin is 100% innocent. And deserves a hug.
Foreword. I know that DID being represented as like an "evil mode/personality" is harmful and not accurate, but I do think its what the writers are doing with Tyler (and hydes as a whole), so heres my theory on why:
Tyler, to my understanding, has 3 modes: Regular Tyler, Evil Tyler, and the Hyde. Regular Tyler is the nice, sweet guy we spend most of the show getting to know. Evil Tyler is the manipulative and cruel side that gets shown off in episode 8. The Hyde is the literal monster (I'll be referring to Evil Tyler and the Hyde both as "the hyde" because they're the same entity, and just calling Regular Tyler "Tyler"). Thinking about Tyler and the hyde as two separate people with different morals and motivations really helps to understand the dichotomy at play with his character.
I believe that Tyler can't control what the hyde does and doesn't enjoy doing violent things, at all.
1. Tyler admits it. Sort of.
To start off, this conversation between Wednesday and Tyler is very very significant. The show lends a lot of weight and screen time to this supposed mural destruction from a year ago for, seemingly, no reason. Yes, it informs how Tyler and Xavier act around each other, but I think it represents Tyler's feelings on his destructive actions as a hyde.
The way Tyler looks off into the distance when he says "I could give you a million excuses, but... the truth is I'm still trying to figure that out" leads me to believe that the hyde had something to do with it. He isn't quite sure whether that was something he did intentionally, or if he was commanded to. If you read everything Tyler says here as him talking around being the hyde and doing violent acts against his will/knowledge, the conversation suddenly means a lot more than it did at face value, and it has a real reason to be present in the show.
In particular, Tyler mentions a "boot camp" which is presumably his torture sessions with Thornhill. He also does not call himself a normie, rather a "townie", which could be semantics, but it's worth mentioning. Tyler saying "I did a terrible thing, but I swear I'm not a terrible person" is also a great way of foreshadowing his split personality and guilt over his actions in a subtle way (assuming this theory is true).
Edit Feb 3 2023: Made a few realizations so I'm adding on.
Tyler isn't just talking around his actions as a hyde or being symbolic, he's literally talking about them, and about his mom. Tyler holds (or held) a lot of resentment towards Nevermore because his mom wasn't offered the tools to try and contain her hyde. When he says "a bitter townie that blames everyone else for the shitty hand he's been dealt", I'm pretty sure he's talking about his mom and how her death was directly caused by Nevermore's failure to help her. Thornhill releasing his hyde specifically using information about his mother feeds into this idea, it unlocked a rage inside of him once he learned that fact.
When he destroyed Xavier's mural, it was an act of anger and frustration. A way of getting back at Nevermore for his mom's death. But afterwards, he realizes that's not who he wants to be. He doesn't want to be an angry, resentful person that acts out and blames Nevermore for his mother's death. He even completely stops pranking Nevermore students, which he did often with the other normies before he "went soft". He forgives them.
Unfortunately, the hyde is an amalgamation of all of that hatred and is being wielded by an even more bitter victim of Nevermore (Thornhill), so he's forced to do terrible things in order to try and take down Nevermore.
Tyler not only refuses the hyde, he also refuses to hate Nevermore for something it did in the past. There's no possible way that he's on board with anything that Thornhill is doing.
2. Jekyll and Hyde
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously there's the hyde's namesake: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. If you're unfamiliar, Jekyll is a brilliant scientist that unlocks his alter ego, Hyde, using a chemical mixture. He's aware that he is Hyde and knows that Hyde is doing terrible things, but allows him to do so (at first) because he feels like needs to keep the "evil" inside of him separate from the "good" inside of him.
While it's possible that Wednesday borrowed the namesake just to allude to the well-known story and add to the "monster that transforms into average person" mystery, a INCREDIBLY crucial aspect of Jekyll and Hyde's story is that Jekyll is a good person but also can't control Hyde. While Jekyll unlocked Hyde intentionally, he quickly lost control and Hyde took over more and more until Jekyll was forced to commit suicide. I strongly believe this is also a big part of being a hyde, with the individual affected by hyde-dom taking the place of Jekyll.
Tyler had his hyde unlocked by Thornhill, not by himself, which is immediately a deviation from the old story. To me, this just means that Thornhill tortured Tyler in order to force him to let it out, weakening his ability to hold the hyde at bay, and increasing her hold over him.
3. Tyler's Therapy with Dr. Kinbott
In episode 2, Tyler mentions that he's seeing Kinbott because he has "court ordered" therapy. This is odd given that court ordered therapy is usually only given to people if they are a direct harm to themselves or others, like in Wednesday's case. It's unclear whether this is the result of his hyde getting him in trouble or if he was just ordered therapy following his mother's death because it was especially hard on him.
Near the beginning of episode 8, there's a scene where Sheriff Galpin is listening to recordings from Kinbott regarding Tyler's therapy sessions:
"When I press him on his mother or any sensitive issue, he snaps. It's like I'm talking to a different person. I'm increasingly concerned. I believe the trauma of losing his mother may have left Tyler with deeper psychological scars that I had suspected"
That scene serves zero narrative purpose outside of letting the viewer know this information about Tyler, so it has to be significant. In particular, the line about him turning into a "different person" is especially relevant. It seems like some part of Tyler (hyde or otherwise) is very defensive about his mother and has an extremely hard time even discussing her. This may be the result of Thornhill using his mother to coax the hyde out (see: "Tyler honey, make Mama happy and shut her up."), so any discussing of his mom makes the hyde come to the forefront.
4. Tyler's relationships
A lot of the things Tyler says and does could be interpreted as an extremely well thought out manipulation plot, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I genuinely believe that Tyler is a good person and that most of what he says pre-e8 can be taken at face value.
Tyler does genuinely care about Wednesday. Many of his actions with her are likely influenced by the hyde (especially their date lining up perfectly with Thing's stabbing), but he put so much care put into their dates and conversations that it's hard to believe it was all a lie. If Tyler really didn't care about Wednesday, he might not have go so far to decorate a crypt, apologize so profusely for wrecking Xavier's mural, or help her escape Jericho when he knew Thornhill needed her for her plan.
5. Episode 8
There's a lot of small but crucial things in episode 8, so I'll just mention them all here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This tiny moment is EXTREMELY concrete evidence in my eyes. The way the music rises to an intense swell but then fades almost immediately (as if some danger has passed) and Tyler goes from smirking and being all confident to almost crying, it's just the only explanation that makes sense. Tyler was taken over by the hyde and then regained control of himself. Seeing how shaken and afraid Wednesday was overwhelmed him with guilt, so he backs off immediately.
Edit Feb 4 2023: It's also worth noting that when Tyler says "You have no idea what's coming" it is, at least partially, a warning. Wednesday even interprets it as one, later telling Xavier that "Tyler warned me that something bad was coming". I do think the hyde is almost entirely in control in this scene until the moment I described above, but some part of Tyler, some speck of his true self, wanted desperately to try and help Wednesday.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similar to the scene in the police station, it seems like Tyler snaps himself out of the hyde's control for a moment. But this time, instead of it being at the end of an outburst, it's Wednesday mentioning his brief torture at her hands that brings him out of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, Sheriff Galpin's involvement in the Tyler vs. Enid fight seems strange and sort of pointless. He doesn't contribute much other than giving Enid the upper hand for a moment and futilely calling out for Tyler. To me, they included the Sheriff here in order to demonstrate that the hyde is not Tyler. If it were, he might have calmed for a moment or even just hesitated before rushing to attack his father, but he didn't. I believe they're using the Sheriff to represent Tyler's humanity, which the hyde has completely stripped away in this moment.
6. Master/Hyde Dynamic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A hyde becomes a "slave" to the person who unlocks it. This is a big part of the unraveling mystery of the show and it seriously calls into question Tylers agency and free will. Even if Tyler was a completely terrible person who wanted to do everything Thornhill told him to do, he would still partially be a victim because hydes by nature form a weird and dependent bond with the person who freed them, even if the hyde was freed against the individuals wishes.
Aand thats all! I'm sure theres more stuff I didn't mention, and there was even stuff I left out because I didn't want to get to bogged down in the micro-expressions, but! There it is. Can Tyler haters give him a break now?

Protagonist-centric readers will do anything but admit that their MCs did lie and impact other characters' decisions. It's not the side-characters fault that they did not know the whole truth because *drum roll* they weren't told anything and/or was deliberately lied to.
LQQ being hated bc he impaled XL in a coffin for a long time but like... XL admitted to killing the King of Yong'an and committing the bloody massacre so what was LQQ supposed to do? Sit down and ask his Guoshi for the truth when we know damn well XL will just continue to admit to it? XL didn't want to tell LQQ the truth to protect LQQ and the two groups of people, and that's completely admirable, but what LQQ saw was his Guoshi stabbing a sword through his father's chest and admitting to everything so him reacting the way he did was completely valid. The single act of killing the king was treason 100x already, and as the son of the king, LQQ's reaction was not out of the ordinary. we don't want XL to suffer and be even more traumatized, but XL already knew that the consequences wouldn't be pretty and lied anyway. idk why fans can't grasp that.
Or for JC's case, HE IS LITERALLY THE ONE PERSON ALIVE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD WHO ACTUALLY DESERVES SOME KIND OF EXPLANATION FROM WWX HIMSELF, THE MAN WHO ACCIDENTALLY CAUSED WN TO KILL JXZ AND INDIRECTLY KILLED JYL DESPITE CLAIMING THAT HE HAD EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. These two aren't strangers to JC at all; they're his sister and his brother-in-law, or more importantly, his sister's beloved husband and father of his nephew. He deserves to be angry and bitter at the one person who did all that, and there is no time limit for how long he should remain bitter and angry about it. The GCT was a whole mess and they both made HUGE sacrifices out of love but the only one whose sacrifice is made invalid is JC because one, it was short-lived and two, they already didn't like JC so no matter what he does for WWX, it will be seen as something negative.
I don't even want to get into the hell-hole regarding LXC but... damn...
the revelations after a character found out the truth should be "oh man, so that's what really happened" not "this character was a dick because they didn't know about the major sacrifice the MC made for them that would only be revealed many years later, and it's not even voluntary because someone else told the truth, not the MC themself"
I'm not the first nor am I the last person to say this but a protagonist is just a character we see, mainly, from their POV or the character that we follow the story through. That's all there is to it. I feel like a lot of danmei readers have yet to read a variety of stories about an MC that's completely shit but serves to tell a story just as important and interesting.
okay, first of all-- people hate LQQ?? The sweetest, most violent himbo of all????????????? even Xie Lian doesn't hate him for what he did??????
i have nothing to say to such people
i'll be honest, it is really only relatively recently that i've fully come to realise how completely Jiang Cheng deserves an explanation or even just acknowledgement of any kind from Wei Wuxian, and how cowardly and selfish it is that Wei Wuxian refuses to give it. and I say this with a heart full of love for WWX-- he is dealing with Some Trauma (tm) but that doesn't mean his refusal to even speak to JC isn't hurtful and unfair, even if it's what he needs... but man everyone in fandom and fanworks is focused on WWX taking what he needs in this situation and not even remotely considering that just maybe he also justifiably owes something to someone he harmed and who he supposedly (formerly?) cared about (i think he still cares)
the lan xichen thing is literally inexplicable to me and i will never understand it

The self indulgent blurb
“Hey, hey! Aizawa!” Shouta paused to turn towards the voice calling. Walking down the hall was the form of Nezu’s secretary, Mathews Vic. A plus size, short person, they had randomly appeared one day blinking behind their glasses in Nezu’s office. Shouta never found out to much about them, given Nezu hoarded their information like a dragon but they'd settled in well as a secretary. “Shit yeah good to catch you!” Mathews beamed. They flicked their braid behind their head, the random pieces of bone in it clinking.
Shouta was ninety percent sure the whole ‘bone in hair’ thing was to mess with people. “Mathews,” Shouta said to them with a nod. They were at work and not in private. Hell, he was outside his classroom on the third day. Probably Mathews's own design on that. They once told Shouts that ‘eavesdropping is essential for a hero student and if they over hear shut they shouldn't it's on them to keep their mouths shut’. Though they did keep the really confidential stuff hidden.
“Glad I caught you! Wanted to talk about two of your students. Midoriya and Bakugou,” Mathews said. Shouta sighed. Of course, those two. Shouta’s first impression had been of a slacker and a kid who'd been told for years that he would end up a villain thanks to his Quirk. It hadn't changed just yet, but something was bugging him about them.
“Whats on your mind?” Shouta asked.
“Well for starters I met Bakugou before. It was a year back and I caught the kid threatening some other kids about ‘not applying to UA cause I'll kill you’. He actually had his Quirk popping in his hands. I stepped in, told him off and moved on. But that kinda thing sticks in your mind you know?” Mathews said. “So when I saw him I was like. Ah! Must look into! And I have for the last bit other than when the Rat God, May he have mercy on our souls, asks me to do other things.”
The cackle coming in from their earpieces, showing Nezu was listening, made Shouta shake his head. The joke kept on going, it was funny enough but Mathews took forever to get to their point like the rat did.
“Anyways so I did further research and looked into teacher comments on Bakugou. Did you?”
“No, I never look at them. Half the time they're garbage with either inflated praise or sabatoge. I look at other things like grades and skill scores.” Shouta said honestly. He'd like to talk to the person who started the rumour he didn't read the files. He wasn't stupid, he just skipped things that often ended up being faked.
“Smart smart, cause Midoriya has the worst load of horseshit I've ever seen. This kid is apparently the most disruptive and unintelligent child, meanwhile he's nearly broke a record on our entrance exam. 90%! Can you believe it?!” Mathews spread their arms out with a grin. Shouta had known that, but figured Mathews and Nezu were just absurdly pleased by a smart kid.
Shuffling came from the classroom they were in front of. Both ignored it as Mathews rambled on. “Bakugou though… that kid has nothing but praise and being called a delight in his files. I was instantly suspicious.”
Shouta was now to. That didn't make sense with his attitude so far. It should have been more like Midoriya’s records then not. Or it would be if he faced Quirk Discrimination like Shouta assumed.
“So I went digging. I know you thought he was a victim of discrimination cause his attitude matched yours as a kid, angry, bitter, willing to scream at people-” Mathews rambled as a loud bang echoed from the classroom before quieting.
We need to work on stealth, Shouta thought to himself.
“So I went back further and dug up some of the social media of their classmates and holy SHIT. Aizawa? That explosive kid is a narcissistic sociopath waiting to happen!” Mathews said in disbelief. “And no this isn't ‘oh Explosive Quirk? You're a villain in the making!’” the high pitched sing-song voice made Shouta shake his head at them. “This is me ACTUALLY wondering cause that kid had used his Quirk on Midoriya multiple times for stupid reasons. Including muttering. I saw DOZENS of videos Shouta, all untagged so we missed them!”
The fact Mathews used his name showed how serious this was. “Vic-” Shouts began but they waved him off.
“Not now. I'm angry. You know the whole ‘hey so this school gets all grades audited’ thing we discovered. It's not because of Bakugou like you thought. It's cause of Midoriya! Cause until the entrance exam he was Quirkless! And they treated him like SHIT FOR IT!” Mathews exploded. “I can't tell you how much shit I went through Shouta, how much BULLSHIT I saw spew from the mouths of students and teachers. And Bakugou was a driving force!” Mathews shook their head, turning away from Shouta to stare at the wall.
He looked at his classroom, wondering why it was so quiet. It felt like a tomb, staring at it.
It was better than thinking on Mathews's words. He didn't WANT to believe it. He didn't want to think that they'd let an bigoted bully into UA. But Mathews rarely lied.
“Fuck, we fucked up.”
“We caught it early,” Mathews said to him, turning away from the wall. “I poked at Midoriya’s file to and he was Quirkless. It changed a week after the exam.”
“False negative? With specific activation?” Shouta asked.
“One option. Some of the videos had the kid freaking scrawny. Makes sense he needed to put on muscle for that Quirk. But like… there's also three other options.” Mathews said. “One, he met someone who can give people Quirks-”
“Like the boogeyman?” Shouta rolled his eyes.
“I met the fuck six years back, he wanted my Quirk,” Mathews said dryly. “I set off a glitter bomb in answer. But you do know there are other people with similar Quirks right? Nothing is unique and I want to point while laughing at any idiot claiming otherwise. Hell there's one with the exact same Quirk in Taiwan. Nice lady, works for the government.” Mathews shrugged at Shouta’s look. “No Quirk is villainous. It's idiots who say so.”
“I know that. I just wonder how you keep meeting these people.” Shouta told them.
“Sheer dumb luck. And also me being nosy as fuck. But anyway, so that's an option except my friend charges big bucks for a Quirk unless you go through the government so she's out and I can't think of anyone else in Japan since Boogeyman either died or went underground… wonder if the glitter… no right back on track. Our second option if a force manifested Quirk.” Mathews looked very uncomfortable saying that. Shouta understood why.
Force manifested Quirks, or FMQ only came about in serious circumstances. The idea Midoriya had one was haunting.
But it explained so much. The darkness in his eyes, the lowered face, the quiet looks he gave. It explained so much.
“Entrance exam?” Shouta asked. Mathews fidgeted. “... Vic?”
“I umm… sent you some videos of the worst bullying and a signed statement from a kid who told me a lot of stuff about Bakugou. Apparently they were friends of a sort? And the kid had a wake up call? It’s not… pretty.” Mathews winced. “But it’s possible Midoriya… tried to take his own life before UA. I don’t know if he did but it’s not good.”
“Fuck,” Shouta covered his face. His classroom was still so silent. Why?
“Which uhh leads me to the last option! A transferable Quirk!” Mathews said.
“...That’s a thing?” Shouta asked.
“Oh yeah I know like three heroes with one, and two non-heroes.” Mathews chriped as they motioned with their hands, trying to avoid the unpleasant conversation they just had. “It’s rareish, but it happens.”
“I see…” Shouta sighed. “Well, thanks for this. I now have to talk to my class who heard everything probably.”
“...Wait, wait… what… oh fuck,” Mathews paled dramatically. “I thought it was after school.”
“... did you forget AGAIN what times people leave school here?”

I keep seeing lots of takes about Megatron in Earthspark that I feel like don't reflect his characterization... I see people saying things like, "He's a good guy now and I hate it and it's boring/wrong," or "He's a good guy now and I love to see it and he's been completely redeemed for me," or sometimes, "Why isn't he fighting harder about what's happening to the Decepticons in prison?!" etc.
What I feel like people keep missing are the facts that 1) Megatron is deeply flawed and a giant hypocrite in Earthspark and he knows it, and 2) the fact that he's not putting in the work to advocate more for his former soldiers is the way in which he is flawed. He is also clearly aware of this, feels guilty, but his fear and belief that his ultimate goal is right is preventing him from acting... and this is good, nuanced writing on the part of the team behind this show. He is an interesting character who is both clearly used to shutting down dissent through violence, yet is also quick to fold when in conflict with the people in power on the side he switched to late in the War. I explain in more depth below the cut:
Megatron expresses a desire to see his former soldiers be treated better, such as when he claims he'll make sure Soundwave is treated well in prison, and then he obviously never follows up on this. He also decides to attack Soundwave while also claiming their conflict is not personal, when it blatantly is. This isn't the behavior of a completely morally good character, and it points to a past of Megatron being used to getting his way with violence and threats. We can also see that he has given up on Cybertronian life in many ways and is guilty about how his own actions potentially will lead to its slow destruction over time. This is all pretty clearly indicated when Thrash feels bitter about Megatron putting the entire future of his species on the Terrans when it is in fact Megatron's fault that Cybertronian life may be lost, while Mo believes that Megatron doesn't want them to end up repeating the mistakes he made.
I think there's also something that will probably be discussed later which is that Megatron switched sides right when victory was within grasp for the Decepticons, and he says it was because Dot showed him compassion (we haven't seen this yet, presumably it is being saved for a grand reveal later)... only for Megatron to continually fold when his own former troops are being tortured and not treated with compassion in the present. I think it's easy to see that it's guilt causing him to become so hypocritical. Over time, I think we'll continue to see other Decepticons being really angry at Megatron for this, and that is justified.
TL;DR Earthspark's Megatron is a unique take on the character, one who, while being as strongly dedicated to an ultimate goal as he usually is, has also become increasingly willing to fold when confronted with conflict because of his own cognitive dissonance caused by trauma and guilt over how his actions brought about the end of the War. And in my opinion this is very strong, multi-faceted writing for the character. This isn't just a flat, "Post-redemption arc Megatron!" situation. It's a Megatron who, while working alongside heroic characters and having positive qualities, has become someone who in many ways is a hypocrite and a coward.

hey! i was sort of reading “something to rely on” lyrics, and i remembered that you analyse some of miles, monkeys and tlsp songs. so, i just wanted to ask what are your thoughts on this song, cause i particularly think it’s about alex or some of it. anyway, other songs from cdg can be fully about alex, but barely no one talks about this one, so i thought it’d be great to discuss about it.
there’s also “adios tara tara” that i also think it’s about alex, as other songs from change the show, but that’s for another time! i also love your blog, your fanfics and song analysis, they’re always really good! 🫶
sooo first of all sorry for being this late lmao this is kinda embarrassing because this ask was sent MONTHS ago maybe almost a year ago it was so long ago i literally don't remember. i'm only just answering now BUT better late than never i guess skgshdfh
(as usual don't take this too seriously lmao this is just a silly theory, i'm in no way implying it's the truth. it's just delusion o'clock)
now, if you follow me you know what i think of coup de grace as an album - and that is, the fact that it's soooo about alex it's crazy like. bro was so angry and in love and heartbroken????? and he wrote a literal masterpiece of an album????? that's iconic if you ask me
so to no one's surprise, let's follow the usual theory - them having some sort of falling out after eycte because of miles getting serious and alex consequently chickening out, which led to Peak Gay Drama Year, also known as 2018, when they both release albums that - more or less explicitly - contain images that could easily be interpreted as references to each other. something to rely on is no exception:
"crescent moon, left in my drive / all too soon, you made your point"
the reference to the moon creates a pattern, since the semantic field of astral entities is also present in songs such as killing the joke, with "interstellar, dressed in leather, drinking bitter boy" - which as we all know is one of miles' most direct lines when it comes to referencing alex, and it can easily be linked to am's own space-themed album, which miles definitely got to listen before its official release date.
opening the song with a reference to the moon could be a way of @ a certain someone, letting him know that yes, this song *is* in fact about him, if he didn't get the other billion hints in the whole album. (however, for the sake of keeping it vague, i won't be referring to him directly but rather to a ~mysterious person~) (i'm sure you get my point tho *wink wink*) [gunshots]
mentioning the moon could also be a way of referencing the ever-present theme of nighttime encounters in the entirety of mk/am/tlsp's discography: sometimes those encounters are described as fun, sometimes they mean trouble; sometimes, they leave the people involved with a sense of guilt and/or shame, on which we'll come back later and which often leads to bad decisions ("all too soon, you made your point"). in this particular case, the first image that comes to my mind is someone leaving sneakily after a (series of) one-night stands, with the song obviously being from the pov of the person being left, who also gives us a reason why they think the other person left:
"keeping off the radar, how does that make you feel? / keeping it clean, through all the things you wanted me to be / out of touch, with all the rumors i keep hearing of you / keeping off the radar, how does that make you feel?"
this person doesn't seem to want other people to know about their affair, and that's why they keep it secret; it seems that they want miles to be something he's not, or something he can't be - or maybe they ask all these things of themselves, which would maybe make it easier for them to accept the relationship going public. this person wants to keep it neat and clean, picture-perfect and fitting to everything everyone expects from them; but as much as they try to stay lowkey and not attract attention, the narrator informs us that no matter how much this person tries to hide, there's still rumors going around about them, as an individual as well as their relationship(s) with other people, most likely with the narrator too.
"all aboard the guilt train / last call before we leave / last call before we learn to love / the last call before we leave"
the line referring to guilt is insanely queer-coded and i will die on this hill because it just SCREAMS internalised homophobia, with which the other person might be struggling. it wouldn't make sense otherwise - because what would that person feel guilty about, if it were a straight-passing relationship? unless it was a cheating situation, of course... but it could be a cheating situation AND also a queer one, with this person being in another (het) relationship while having a same-sex lover (the narrator), which would give that line a double explanation. also every time i listen to this song i just can't help but think about 'all aboard the kane train' WHAT WHO SAID THAT
however, the narrator tells us that this is the "last call before we leave" - meaning, he's giving this person an ultimatum to make up their mind and decide if they want to be with him for real or not, since the latter possibility would result in him leaving - not necessarily for good, but... just trying to get over that person once and for all. at the same time, though, it's also the "last call before we learn to love" - which is incredibly soft imo, because it's him still putting trust and hope into that person and a positive decision on their part. he believes they will eventually choose to be with him, he hopes for it and trusts the other person to make the right decision, which would lead to them being together and learning how to love each other without limits nor second-guesses. the repetition of the leaving line could also be seen as a way for him to give it a new meaning compared to the first one: if they ended up together, they could leave that world based on nasty rumors and appearances, ignoring them all to just be happy together. because, after all, miles declares it openly:
"you're all that i wanted / all that i need / you're all that i wanted / you're all that i need"
i mean. does this even need an explanation. bro is down BAD
"something to rely on / something to get high on / i don't want to beg or steal, i don't want to borrow hearts / i just want to make it real / something to rely on / the making of a mystery, wishing on a falling star / i don't want to let this sadness rule my heart / your actions from the start / in spite of me insightfully inviting me to fall apart"
i left the chorus last because imo it captures perfectly the whole vibe of the song and what i think is miles' outlook on life in general: the narrator wants something stable and secure, an established relationship with the other person; he doesn't want to have to beg and argue and make it more complicated than it probably already is, he doesn't want to be a pastime or just some lover. he wants something thrilling and intense, almost addictive - but most importantly, he wants something real. this complicated situation with the other person is making them both suffer, and the other person's behaviour doesn't make it any easier; but in spite of everything, and in spite of his sense of self-preservation, he still finds himself unable and unwilling to resist them, to let them go for good. and no matter how self-destructive this might be, he doesn't want to be ruled by negative emotions; he's already fallen for them, too deep to even consider letting them go. he just keeps falling, and yeah, the outcome of their situationship might still be a mystery, but he chooses to be hopeful - "wishing on a falling star", bringing the song to a circular end by mentioning other astral entities that inevitably remind us of the "crescent moon" that opens the song. which also evokes the idea of circularity that is typical of situationships like the one described here, where the moment he seems to have made up his mind (or maybe the other person finally did?) it's like rinse and repeat, and once again they're back to square one.

☆☆ ONE BED TROPE ⁉️
When the peace between the Overworld and Underworld was established, you and Gepard both agreed that it didn't mean that suddenly you and him were buddy-buddy now. However, with Seele and Bronya becoming allies, it meant that you and Gepard were more often than not being assigned to work side by side.
And with that arrangment coming along, that's what brought you here. In an abandoned building, sitting on a bed with Gepard kneeling between your legs as he bandaged your bruises. "You know, if anyone sees this the angle looks really-"
"Shut up."
You smirk at his fluster, seeing the slight shade of pink that he tries to hide. In return, he not so nicely pulls on the bandages around you, tightening them in a way that was nearly suffocating. "Ow!-"
You won't deny that Gepard was an insanely pretty man, his soft skin and gentle features complimented his.. annoyingly kind soul for those who needed his assistance. He was loved by many, and you couldn't really blame people. Just cause you both were on opposite sides didn't mean you couldn't acknowledge his determination to protect others.
"Your injuries are fatal. We can move by morning, just rest for now."
You look around the room, mostly to ignore how he takes off his heavy armor to to rest properly. "You know it's.. there's only one relatively comfortable place to sleep in, right? Or in other words.. there's only one bed?"
Gepard nods with a sigh, your eyes finally turning back to him as he tries to lay on the floor and use his arm as a pillow. "Yeah. And you're hurt, so you can have it."
He ignores your pitiful stare, closing his eyes until he hears you clear your throat and opening one of them slightly. "It's.. cold. And there's.. enough room."
"Oh? And won't this look like a suggestive-"
"Shut up!"
You ignore his laughter as he stands up, feeling him ruffle your hair as you look up at him. "Asshole. Just.. sleep, will you?"
"Gladly. If it means I won't have to look at your face anymore."
"You know I'm pretty." "Maybe, but you're infuriating."
"Wait, what?"

☆☆ BITTER EXES WHO HUNTS THE OTHER DOWN
Maybe that description was a little detailed, but wouldn't it be funny if you were DAN HENG's ex and you were so pissed at him you joined the Stellaron Hunters. Blade himself started hating him a little more after hearing you rant about him for the 10th time in a day. (He's more pissed that he made you that way and now has to deal with it.)
So when you caught up to him in Luofu, even if you swore to Blade you wouldn't do anything until his business with Dan Heng was over, you just couldn't resist just having a little bite. Just for your own enjoyment.
"How have you been?" "I've been better, especially since you're holding a knife to my throat and pinning me against a wall."
You scoff at his remark while pushing the blade closer towards his neck, not quite enough to cut but grazing his skin to a point he can feel the cold metal. "Shut up."
"Good to know you're still angry at me."
"Why wouldn't I be? You left me with nothing but a poorly written note that had nothing but 'Goodbye.' on it."
That got a little reaction out of him which was him clearing his throat. "Seems like you haven't forgotten either."
"No it's more.. did you not see the other one I left you?" "There was another??"
You and him exchange awkward glances, you eventually pull the knife away from his neck and take a few steps back.
"If it matters at all, you're still really pretty."
"Seriously, now of all times I-"
You laugh a little, causing the familiar feeling of Dan Heng's heart skipping a beat as he looks off to the side. "..Whatever. Just because we had this.. whatever this was, it doesn't mean you're off the hook. You're still gonna be a dead man, I promise you that much."
Dan Heng watched you leave the shadows, until you were out of sight was when he laughed a little. "It's a little odd I found that stupidly attractive but.." He shrugs to himself, not like anyone will know.

Ok, here is my breakdown and my thoughts on the ending of Bittersweet Chapter 3.
First off, I wanted to say thanks to Yuuri for blessing us with Bittersweet and this amazing fucking story, as well as the start of Shattered, which I presume, is the start of Auron's story.
Tumblr media
This isn't important, but I enjoy that Al's fancy is take-out pasta (fr same). Also, his happy little face thing about it got me like 😊😊😊
Tumblr media
Then the conversation between SugerBoo and Al and the trust he has for them is just gold, but it's a tad reckless.
Cause if I was in Al's shoes, I would bring up the gun and talk about the choice they were going to make, if it was a good idea, and what consequences might have followed with their actions.
This also leads to the idea that Al may have possibly known about the gun before the listener left to meet up with Jesse. And what we knew from previous episodes, the choice that they made may have left them going to jail, a possible run-in with Auron, or probably dead.
Also, the reassurance that Al made about being 'pure' is a very nice touch to tie it up. It also leaves me thinking, if Al would do the same speech if the listener did kill Derek. Tbh idk.
Tumblr media
Also, the shared dream thing that the trio had. 👀👀👀
I know it's not the same but it's pretty fucking close in my book.
Tumblr media
THEN WE GET BLESSED WITH BABY SETH!
I literally lost it when I saw this cause he is so tiny and his hair is basically Crypted Hunter Seth's hair.
If you look at past Jesse and current Seth, he really does look like her.
This shot made me happy (even though it's not happy). Cause for me when I get invested in characters, I wanna know every little detail about that character. So seeing Al's baby picture and a flashback to when Seth was younger made me go 'OOOOOH SHIT!'.
Tumblr media
Then this scene is just a chef's kiss honestly.
Cause we get to see Seth finally confront Jesse about all the shit she has done.
And I know he confronted her before in episode 5, but that was with current events. This time it's about his past and all the hurt he felt with her being away.
You can even see on Jesse's face that she is finally realized her mistakes as a mom and is probably feeling so much guilt for putting her son in pain.
SHE IS ALSO CRYING TOO!
Even though this part was short it's what they both needed.
Seth needed to tell his true feelings about his mother and what he felt during the years she was gone. While Jesse needs to face the truth and accept that she had hurt her son, and possibly nothing she can do will ever fully fix her bond with her son.
Then after expressing his emotions he goes from this.

To this
Tumblr media
I feel like Seth from Chapter One would just beat the shit out of that wall till his hands were fucked up.
But he didn't.
He realized that he was angry and frustrated and just let it all go.
That is growth.
Cause in the very beginning Al mentioned that Seth grew more angry and bitter when his mother cut ties with him.
So his time by himself and the time with the listener and Alphonse, really helped him with his anger and frustration towards his family and the world.
He's learning to let go of anger and just move on with peace.
Tumblr media
Jackie's art = good shit. PERIOD!
Also its urger time.
When Al called Seth a little bitch and was teasing him fr filled me with serotonin.
Tumblr media
THEN THIS FUCKER IS JUST!!!
Tumblr media
YUMMY
I fr am feral for this man rn. I still need to get to know Auron more to fuck with him. BUT! I am a little slutty whore baby for people who dress nice and do crime.
Like he looks like a mob boss in the 50's and I am LIVING FOR IT DARLING!
Also, the bruises on both of his hands fucking mean that he went ham on Derek.
He probably tortured him as well.
I can just imagine him beating the shit out of Derek behind closed doors and having all of the grunts listen to Derek's screams and begs him to stop.
And when he's finally done and comes out of the office, he gives them all a look of 'do not cross me.', before pouring his own or having someone pour him a drink.
Ok, Tumblr won't let me do more than 10 pictures so ima do part 2.

The irredeemably evil character in [Harry] Potter has dehumanized himself. Voldemort has consciously and deliberately made himself less than human, and we see the natural conclusion of what he's done to himself through very powerful magic; what he's left with is something less than human. And he's done that purposely. He sees humanity as weakness. He has reduced himself to something that cannot feel the full range of human emotion.
There's a huge appeal - and I try to show this in the Potter books - to black and white thinking. We should mistrust ourselves most when we are certain. Interestingly, the two characters that caused the most furious debate were Dumbledore and Snape. People wanted Dumbledore to be perfect - he is deeply flawed - but to me, he is an exemplar of goodness. But he has to make decisions, difficult ones, like those we have to make in the real world. Meanwhile, Snape can be a bully, he can be mean, he can be sadistic, he's bitter; but he is also courageous, he is determined to make good what he did terribly wrong, and without him, disaster would have inevitably occurred.
I have had fans very angry at me for not categorizing Snape in particular as just a really bad guy. And I said, No I don't agree with you. First of all, because I know him. Second, people can be deeply flawed, can make mistakes, can do bad things - in fact, show me the human being who hasn't- and they can also be capable of greatness. And I mean greatness in a moral sense.
-JK Rowling
See, shit like this is why women who made the choice to stay with their horrible, abusive husbands until it literally became a matter of life or death, such women should not be allowed to then become the voices for all women who are victims of domestic violence.
Most women don’t choose to stay, they just have nowhere else to go. They hate the man who martyrs them, they hate their enemy, they just can’t save themselves. And they are the majority.
In the mean time women like Amber Heard and FKA Twiggs and JK Rowling endure all manners of brutal disrespect from their man for years because they can’t bring themselves to believe that, deep down inside, their man doesn’t love them and doesn’t have some essence of goodness. After all, to think otherwise and hate them would constitute black and white thinking and we just can’t have that, now can we? Or maybe it’s their narcissism that makes it impossible for them to accept that a man just doesn’t love them.
A man may want to possess you so he can have you as property, not because he loves you. A man who sees you as ownership is one of the most dangerous enemies you will ever have, not a lover than you have the obligation to forgive and still love no matter what.
Not that any of these women ever understood it, seeing as to this day both Amber and Twiggs still say that they love their former abuser (that’s a direct quote from both, separately, I shit you not, they state that they still love them). And as you can read for yourself, to this day JK Rowling still gaslights children into thinking that it makes them shallow and superficial to not acknowledge Snape as a man of greatness who loves and is brave.
Let’s make this very clear: a man who murders your husband and child doesn’t love you. Love is as love does. And even a bastard, provided he is brave, will at least commit his own murders instead of sending someone else, and Snape could have taken advantage of numerous opportunities to kill Voldemort and he didn’t because he’s a spineless coward, too revolting to be believed.
Stuff like this is why women who have the freedom to leave their abuser should never be given the pulpit on matters of domestic violence. They will never understand the profound horror of domestic violence, what it’s like to see only too clearly the nightmare of being wedded to a monster that you genuinely can’t liberate yourself from.
I dare you to show me - show me right now, I mean it - a woman who was the prisoner of a man whom she genuinely could not leave, and who later says that in spite of everything she still loves the fucking bastard who nearly ended her life, or the woman who having managed to slip through the monster’s clutches thinks she’s being profound when she chides children who still retain the ability to recognize irredeemable evil when they see it for being very shallow and fascistic and “judgy” about a monster.
An author who cared about nuance and shades of grey would have made Harry a monster, because that’s what happens when you are raised as a monster. Monster aren’t born, they’re made. By any rights Harry should have been Voldemort, a person who cut out his heart and is capable of any kind of cruelty. Instead, because this is a book for children, JK obeyed the conventions that are there for a reason and she wrote him as a well-adapted, charming and prematurely mature boy who isn’t afraid of anything. If she had wanted realism his home life wouldn’t have been written as comic relief but rather as Horror for adults, like the protagonist in Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon.
Snape and Dumbledore turning out to have been in league against Voldemort is a great plot twist, and that’s all that it is, not a profound observation on the myriad nuances of human nature. In spite of the dramatic surprise it will always feel wrong because evil people can’t be good. Harry should never have named his child after him because Snape plotted to kill him and his father so he could fuck his mom.
I’m right about this, as is everyone else who agrees - meaning that we’re correct in what we say, not shallow. Hey, at least we don’t think those who commit murder so they can fuck the widow are still capable of greatness, that you should trust them to still be capable of doing the right thing. End of story.

..
It’s honestly hard to feel safe here.
I can always feel a million judgmental eyes watching me.
because I know there’s at least one or two, probably more people crawling around my blog for the soul purpose of surveilling and berating me.
every little action I take, every word I speak is put under a microscope and twisted into something it isn’t.
showing humanity towards two people is twisted as treason towards one of them.
I don’t feel safe. Because I can always sense them, I always fear them, like rats scuttling in the walls, passing along bitter messages from those who have yet to speak to me proper.
and I know they see this, I know they will see this. And if you’re one of them, I see you.
You, who take this home I have made for myself and fill it with mouse holes for you to traverse and invade with.
I dread every message I receive because of you. I hold no ill will or anger for the people you speak for, but I do hold contempt for you.
Because you are more than a misunderstanding, you are more than a feud with someone I care about, you are more than hurt feelings, you are more than vacuous baiting and threats.
You are a constant, lingering presence, a shadow over my shoulder, a presence that I can’t shake, there are probably only 2 or 3 of you but you feel like a swarm.
This was home. You’ve made it a stage. And I don’t want to be watched by you.
And I know the people you speak for don’t condone the way you haunt me. They wouldn’t, I know they are good, kind people.
And you act like you know me, but you don’t. You dare not even show your own face, much less speak to me in a way that would allow you to know me.
But how often you speak, the way you act like you know what you’re talking about, it begins to drill into my head. It’s to the point where now genuine words of mine are read back in my head by a voice so sickeningly saccharine and laced with venom that it belongs to someone I have never known.
Even when I know what you say isn’t true, it can’t help but internalize it all. Can’t help but create a me that isn’t me, the person you think I am. Whose actions are deceitful and whose kind words are like molten candy that burns all around it… a dark reflection that I will never be but looks the exact same as me at a glance.
and this depersonalization has been fucking with me really badly… second-guessing my own intentions when I know what I mean. It’s been making it really hard to function both here, and in everyday life.
so please. Leave me alone. Go away. I would never do something like this to you, so don’t do it to me. If you want to supply me with information, then go ahead. But if you only wish to intimidate me, leave. Stop obsessing over me. If you’d like to actually get to know me, you’re welcome to, just know that I will be apprehensive.
I know why you do what you do. I know you believe you’re doing the right thing. I know you see something noble in this. I know you are human. My analogies to pests in this post have not been to dehumanize you, they are merely to explain how this sensation of being watched feels. You’re not evil, you’re not bad people, you’re just hurting me right now… I just wish that everyone could know my heart, know my feelings, see my thought process, know how honest every word I speak is. I wish you could read my mind… so you didn’t misunderstand me.
I’m just. Exhausted. And afraid of you. But I don’t hate you. I don’t think I’m capable of that. It’s not like I can’t hate anybody, it’s just that my true hatred only belongs to heinous people in power who cause the world to hurt. Not for other teens on the internet who are angry at me.
If one of you apologized then I don’t believe I would necessarily accept it, but I wouldn’t reject it either. I’d believe you, at the very least… and I wouldn’t hold it against you. But I wouldn’t forgive you.
I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore… I’m just pouring my thoughts out… I’m gonna go take a nap.
