'we're better than you because we have better taste in human sacrifice' stellar logic from medieval iceland (from kristni saga, source here, give it a read, it's good fun)
alt text:
The heathens then held a well-attended meeting and made a decision to sacrifice two people from each Quarter, and called on the heathen gods not to let Christianity spread throughout the country.
Gizurr and Hjalti held another meeting with the Christians, and they said that they also wished to hold a sacrifice of as many people as the heathens. They said this:
'Heathens sacrifice the worst people, and push them over cliffs and crags, but we shall make our selection on the basis of people’s virtues and call it a victory offering to our Lord Jesus Christ. We must therefore live better lives and be more careful to avoid sin than before, and Gizurr and I will come forward as the victory offering for our Quarter.'

Saw a post making fun of Asexuals in the year of our Good Vibes 2022 so a reminder:
The A stands for the Asexual community and spectrum (it also represents the Aromantic and Agender communities but I’m Asexual so I’ll be talking about that specifically in this post)
Celibacy is a choice to abstain from sex. Asexuality is a sexuality defined by a lack of sexual attraction to anyone, not by the choice to abstain from sex.
Every asexual person has different feelings on sex (an activity, not an attraction) - some are sex repulsed, some are sex neutral, and some are sex favorable. A physically pleasurable experience is not equal to an attraction to parties involved.
The Asexual community has been around since the dawn of the Queer liberation movement, and Asexual individuals have always existed.
Aphobia is real and has done tangible harm to Asexual people. Listen to and learn from their experiences.
If you make fun of Asexuals and their community jokes (dragons/cakes/cards) you are Aphobic. If you’re Asexual and you make fun of these aspects of your own community or consider them ‘cringe’ you have internalized Aphobia.
Sometimes teenagers and young people will identify as Asexual and change their label later in life. This does not mean that all young people who identify as Asexual will change their minds, nor does it mean that all people who identify as Asexual are young.
Seriously what do you people have against the dragons and cake jokes those are classic and hilarious please deconstruct why you have so much rage for harmless jokes that’s not a healthy response to silliness.
Anyways reblog this post if you’re Asexual, support Asexuals, or really want a dragon.

wait for her ship: natsu dragneel x lucy heartfilia summary: the light you gave to guide me, will never fade away. but moving forward never felt as hard as today. ao3
Tumblr media
The gentle jingle of the bell as the door opened signalled the arrival of a customer, drawing out the florist from the back of the store to the counter where she could greet her new customer.
Flowers of every type and colour lined the walls and floors, the likes of which Natsu hadn’t even seen in vast fields of wildflowers on his adventures.
It wasn’t his favourite place; the way the scent of each flower lingered in the air was a bit much for him, but Lucy liked them, so he always made the sacrifice to come in here once a year, if only to see the beaming smile on her face when she saw the bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"Good morning," the florist greeted as Natsu walked up to the counter.
"Mornin’," he replied with a short nod. "I need some roses," Natsu told her. "Red ones."
"How many would you like?" She replied with a smile.
"Nine, please."
She gave him a polite smile, nodding in understanding, before she went to gather the flowers for him.
It was the dead middle of spring, and flowers were blooming all throughout Magnolia. Most often, Natsu would find himself picking flowers on his own for Lucy, a gesture she had always found sweet and romantic, but once every year for their anniversary, he would go out of his way to buy her roses from this sweet little shop two streets down from her apartment.
"Red roses," the florist hummed as she brought them back to the counter. "Are you getting them for someone special?"
"They’re for my girlfriend," Natsu replied. "I think they’re kinda dumb, but she likes them."
The woman cut the stems to length and wrapped them in light pink paper.
"Do you need a gift tag?" She offered.
"Nah, she’ll know who they’re from," Natsu shrugged.
Passing the bouquet over to him, Natsu took it eagerly and counted the amount he was given.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. All there.
"Thanks," Natsu said as he turned to make his exit.
"I hope she likes them," the florist called out from behind them.
"She will," Natsu assured, opening the door and letting the bell jingle once more.
The walk down to their meeting spot had him feeling almost giddy. He’d given her flowers often enough, but it had been a while since she’d received a full bouquet from him, and he was certain she would be pleased with them. The petals were a vibrant, rich red. They matched the shade that Lucy’s cheeks flushed whenever he gave them to her. She rarely wore red, but he thought it looked nice on her. Red was his colour; seeing it on her made his heart race fast in his chest, reminding him that she was his.
The florist had been kind enough to remove the thorns before organising them into the bouquet, something that Natsu was thankful for considering the grip he held on them, his hands practically shaking with anticipation at the prospect of seeing his Lucy again.
He wanted to see that bright-eyed smile and hear that melodic laugh as she pulled him into a tight hug, ever thankful that he had not only remembered their anniversary but had thought to bring her such gorgeous flowers.
As he walked up the hill, Natsu saw her lying right where she always was, and the sight of it alone was enough for him to increase his pace to almost a jog to reach her. The grass here had grown long and lush since the first time he had brought her flowers, and it softened the thud that he made as he dropped to his knees before her.
Gently, he placed the roses in front of her headstone.
"Hey," Natsu greeted, his voice low, quiet, hoping that somehow she could still hear him.
He was met with silence, just as he was every other time he came to see her.
He didn’t blame her. It wasn’t her fault.
"Sorry, I didn’t bring Happy today," he murmured. "I just wanted it to be us."
It had hurt to tell the poor exceed to stay home; he had wanted to see Lucy just as bad as Natsu, but it had been so long since he’d had the chance to tell her all the things he couldn’t say with Happy here.
He shifted from his knees to a more comfortable position, knowing he was going to be here for a while.
"I got ya the roses you like," he told her, never sure if she could see the gifts he bought her. "I hope they make ya happy."
Knowing the way her eyes glistened with happy tears every time he gave them to her made him confident they would, but the silence she provided clawed at his heart, threatening to rip it out of his chest.
"I miss you," he managed to mumble out, tears threatening to prick at the corner of his eyes.
Nothing.
"I love you," he tried.
Nothing.
His head fell back, looking up at the sky, cloudless and blue, just the way his Lucy liked it.
Part of him wished it wasn’t; he wished that no one else could enjoy the things Lucy loved when she couldn’t; he wished that the world couldn’t still be filled with joy when all of his had been taken away from him.
Natsu clenched his teeth, his hands digging fists into the dirt as he tried to hold back the tears that had already begun to slip down his cheeks. He’d already done so much crying in front of her that she must have thought him pathetic that he still did so all these years later, but it just wasn’t fair.
It wasn’t fucking fair.
His Lucy had been taken from him, somewhere he couldn’t join her, and now he was forced to pick up the pieces as though nothing had happened.
Everyone else had moved on.
Why?
How could they do that when his Lucy was gone?
His Lucy. The most incredible woman to have graced Earth Land.
She was kind, and smart, and pretty, and she had the cutest smile and the prettiest laugh.
And she didn’t deserve this.
He had wanted to see her grow old, to see the smile lines form permanently on her face, to see the stretchmarks across her belly from carrying their children. He had wanted to walk to the ends of the earth and back with her, to make her happy every day for the rest of her life.
He hoped he had, even if that time was shorter than he had wanted.
Wails filled the air, sending the birds fleeing from their nests in fear of his cries, which shattered the once peaceful quiet.
Let them flee.
They knew nothing of the unimaginable grief and sorrow he felt.
He sobbed and gasped, no longer ashamed of letting her see just how broken he was without her. It was like losing her had left a hole in his heart that could never be filled.
He cried, and cried, and cried, until there were no more tears to fall and nothing left for him to give, leaving him heaving for breath.
The tears had left his vision foggy, and he could hardly make out the letters when he looked back down at her headstone, but even through the tears, he could still make out a round yellow bird perched atop it that hadn’t been there before.
With the back of his hand, Natsu wiped away his tears to watch it bounce around, careful not to scare this one off this time.
It seemed it noticed his stare and cocked its head to the side, curiously. Part of him felt compelled to hold his hand out for it and hope it would hop onto it, but instead he was content to sit and observe.
The bird fluttered down from its spot on the headstone to the roses, where it curiously hopped around, poking its head into the petals of the flowers. Once it seemed content with its exploration, it chirped out a series of notes, seemingly expressing its satisfaction with the bouquet.
Natsu sat completely still as it began to bounce around once more, not wanting to scare off the gentle creature. Despite his worries, it seemed as though the bird did not share his fears, hopping over to perch on the toe of his sandal.
He cocked his head to the side slightly, and the bird mimicked his motions before whistling out a gentle tune for him.
He could picture Lucy’s reaction so clearly in his head: the way she’d clutch on to his arm and giggle, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the creature and its songs, fascinated with how close such a timid creature chose to get to him, and perhaps a little jealous that it had picked him over her. He could almost hear her joyous cries in the song that it sang out for him before it flew back into the sky, never to be seen again.

Don’t get me fucking STARTED on the slow burn perfection that is a canon compliment (esque) daforge. insane. Me when I’ve been in love with my best friend for months/years and don’t tell him bc it would ruin the best friendship I’ve ever had. Me when I’m so convinced I’m incapable of feeling anything that it’s out of the realm of possibility that I could like a person?? Me when we work together and everything has to be kept professional, but literally everybody knows. Im going to gnaw my own arm off.
The mutual pining??? The longing looks??? The many hours spent together wherever there was space and using any excuse, just to quell the desperation???? Casual, gentle touches??? A stolen first kiss??? Peace in the fact that they both know they’ve found their person??? Data fucking dies but it’s ok bc he comes back (I’ve had Picard spoiled for me w/o context) ?????? Oh my god I’m aaaa aaaAAKSKSKSKSAAJAJJAJSJSJSJS RAHHHH RAHHHHHG RAHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGG

I feel like we talked about this before but literally the first thing he ever does is save Dean. "You don't think you deserve to be saved" and then he dies saving Dean, the last thing he'll ever do. (And then Dean dies anyway "If Cas were here" - "He isn't")
Excuse me while I literally burrow my way underground and let the cold heavy earth take me
