i love ur fic sm but the entire time im reading im thinking oh god there are like at least 40 people that are watching this (class a and b) and getting secondhand embarrassment for izuku bc i could never show my face again 💀
Izuku (and yourself) are embarrassed. Izuku is like “oh teehee im sorry i murdered myself”. Everyone else is horrified. Everyone else is like “wtf are you okay??? Can i get you a mental icepack???”
Also half the time class A and B are duking it out with full on quirk use and destroying the whole gym so I promise you the embarrassment is minimal

Aizawa and Class 1A x Student Alchemist Reader
Tumblr media
In this, the reader has the same tattoos as scar. The reader’s left arm deconstructs molecules and their right arm reconstructs molecules.
The reader is quirkless so they use Alchemy to even the odds and are good at combat.
The reader took the entrance exam and has similar grade to Momo. Momo and the Reader share the 1/20 place amongst their peers
The reader aced the written test and destroyed the robots by using their alchemy to disassemble them. They got 45 villain points and 45 rescue points
When the teachers were looking over the students papers, Aizawa and Nedzu were amazed and skeptical of the reader being quirkless
Aizawa didn’t believe that you were quirkless so he used his quirk on you during his quirk apprehension test. Obviously it failed and he realized your were being honest on your paperwork. Still grilled you about it
Aizawa is ever so slightly more protective and stricter on you than other students. He worries all the time so he is a little harsher on you but you know that he just wants to push you a little more
You’re currently studying both flame and medical alchemy. You tend to study with recovery girl and help her out whenever you get the chance
During All Might’s hero vs villain training you were paired with Momo (Mineta didn’t get into the hero course) against Jirou and Kaminari. You won by creating a sleeping gas and put them to sleep whilst you and Momo wore gas masks she made
Bakugou refuses to admit your strength but has a secret respect for you since you beat him by altering his sweat’s molecules so it wasn’t explosive
Izuku has so many notes on you and has asked to draw your tattoos and you even began to teach him basic alchemy, although he sucks at it
When questioning you, you told Izuku that you were quirkless which he accidentally let it slip to his friends who then let the class know
After that you explained to the class that alchemy can be performed by anyone, it just take years of study and practice to perform and understand the basic rules and applications
Some didn’t believe you so you removed your shoe to show them all your second joint in your pinky toe as proof
Some still have a hard time believing it but most of the class accepted it
Kirishima, Sero, Iida, Jirou and Uraraka think you’re (manly) incredible and ambitious for dedicating yourself to something and making yourself strong despite the odds
Ashido, Kaminari and Hagakure still don’t believe that you’re quirkless
Tokoyami and Shoji both admire your strength and perseverance in trying to become a hero despite lacking a power and having been ridiculed and criticized for your dreams
Ojiro and you train in martial arts often as a means to strengthen one another
Tsuyu and you get along just fine as you both are some of the more mature students in classs
You tend to hang out with the quiet kids like Shoji, Tokoyami and Koda
You and Momo both bond over and help each other study the molecular make up of certain items
During the USJ attack, you used your flame alchemy on the Nomu. You used your conductive gloves to create the flames and tried to roast the Nomu
You took Hatsume’s place on Midoriya’s team in the Calvary battle
You fought Iida in the first rounds and won by creating a rugged and difficult terrain to run in as a means to slow him down, then you used your alchemy to seal his engines and managed to hit him in a pressure point that immobilized him
Todoroki was amazed when you were able to beat him in the sports festival. You turned his ice into water and then changed the arrangement of the stage’s molecular structure to that of quicksand and used the ground to swallow him up, winning your match.
Bakugou was pissed off when you altered your body’s carbon to be on the outside creating a skin of diamond like armor that his explosions couldn’t beat
You got 1st place in the festival but All Might accidentally let it slip during the award ceremony that you were quirkless
You got the third most offers from pros for internships out of the class
You ended up going with Best Jeanist and had a rather good time compared to Bakugou
After the Internships were over, you had mastered your flame alchemy and used it against All Might in your practical exam
Bonus: Todoroki learned that you can’t use flame alchemy when it’s raining or if your wet and accidentally started the ‘useless when wet’ shtick.
Now Bakugou makes fun of you whenever you get your gloves wet and acts like you need protection and enjoys babying you.

Death Rattle
Aizawa, Kurogiri & Mic reacting to y/n's death; they die the same way Gwen does in the Spiderman movies.
Gn reader
Aizawa- Pro-hero
This is the one time he can't distract himself by throwing himself further into his work. It's also the first time he takes time off where Nedzu doesn't have to force him to.
Despite having more time to rest, he just deflatedly sits on his bed and stares straight at the wall while he plays the events over and over in his head
He was so close...if only he'd gotten there quicker. If he'd caught them with his scarf before the impact snapped their neck. Aizawa refuses to go to y/n's funeral or grave until a year later. Not because of any conflict in schedule, but because he feels he failed them that much.
Mic comes over to make sure he's taking care of himself--he's not. Pushing him towards the shower while he sets the table with the takeout he bought. Reporting back to Nedzu about Aizawa's condition.
His voice gruff from not using it, his students too afraid to mention their name. Aizawa knowing his students mean well, he allows them to ask any question they want about y/n as long as it's not about how they died.
It oddly enough brings him some comfort, pulling a heavy weight off both parties' shoulders. At least to where they can continue class like normal the next day, acting like it never happened.
Kurogiri - League of Villians
Unlike the other two, Kurogiri can't place how he's feeling. Not knowing whether it's due to compartmentalization or simple confusion. All he knows is that he had positive feelings towards y/n.
They were a valued part of the league and while each member had their eccentricities, they all brought a unique skill set to the team. And while he was meant to protect Shigaraki, he couldn't help but remember what few fond memories he had of y/n.
Kurogiri is the one who ends up creating a makeshift grave for y/n. He thought they deserved a proper burial in accordance with their religious beliefs but being the league, his hands were tied.
Creates warp-gates whenever he wants to visit, staying long enough to weave a crown of flowers out of nearby weeds. Giving them vague progress reports. Assuming this is what people mean when they say 'it's the thought that counts.'
Tries to clean up the grave as kids tend to knock over the grave marker, teens using the ground as an ashtray. He wishes he'd gotten to know them better while they were still alive.
Mic - Pro-hero
Accidentally causes a mini earthquake from how guttural a scream he lets out
Aizawa has to use his erasure quirk so he doesn't damage the public's eardrums or his own vocal cords
Even the kiddos are concerned when he returns to his post, noticing how withdrawn he's become. There's fewer tangents during lessons alongside a constant 5 o'clock shadow.
Despite being colleagues, he thought of y/n as a friend. No matter how many times he was told it wasn't his fault, he continued to beat himself up over the matter.
His radio show is placed on an indefinite hiatus. The slot's still his for when he comes back but they struggle to find a temporary replacement that keeps ratings consistent.

Think I thought of a way you could make all AFO antics work with Clone4One. Give Hisashi a bad habit making clones whenever he wants to ditch what he's doing / when he's on a time crunch. Wants to retire from being AFO? Clone. Business meeting on Izuku's birthday? Clone. Work on his & Inko's anniversary? Clone. He's forgotten how many clones he's had. And then they start showing up at UA when AFO starts teaching. Nedzu lets them in because Nedzu. #Clone for One #All for Classroom #Asks
I've never seen someone tag their own ask before.
Also that doesn't really feel in line with Legitimate Businessman Midoriya Hisashi. It's also not quite in line with the spirit of the AU, which was a joke about how AFO's characterization is so weak he could be a Quirk-related cardboard cutout with no real personality and it would still make sense

Binary
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Fandom: Boku No Hero Academia/My Hero Academia Pairings: Aizawa Shouta/Yamada Hizashi Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence
Chapter 31/?
“Binary code is a series of zeroes and ones strung together in a specific sequence. On paper, it’s useless. Annoying. Worthless. But put that same string of zeroes and ones into a computer, and suddenly it’s a language far more complex than the human mind can comprehend. I was the same way. The world decided I wasn’t good enough in the physical plane, so I went digital. That’s why I chose the name Binary. And you should be very,” He smirks at the underground hero on the screen, “Very afraid of the reach I have here. Aizawa Shouta.”
Or
Midoriya Izuku is tired of the world treating him like nothing. So he decides to becoming a hacker to show the world that nothing can be anything.
Featuring Midoriya Izuku as the Genius Hacker Aizawa Shouta as the problem child wrangler Yamada Hizashi as the moral support to his husband Tsukauchi Naomasa as the man who needs a long vacation PLEASE Shinsou Hitoshi as the intentionally adopted one Toga Himiko as the unintentionally adopted one Dabi as the really didn’t want to be adopted one but he guesses this is his life now and Nedzu as the Rat God of UA

Contrary to Hitoshi’s belief, Izuku isn’t panicking about this situation. Not at all. While it’s less than ideal, Izuku knows he has the skills to beat Bakugou. He mainly just ends up freezing whenever he sees the ash blonde. Stupid trauma response. But this time it’s different.
This time he’s at UA. With teachers who actually do their job as teachers are supposed to. Aizawa’s already giving Bakugou four days worth of detention just for his actions and behaviors against Izuku. He’s got his family, who take no bullshit from Bakugou. Like Hitoshi who calls the blonde out on his abuse the second it comes out of his mouth. He’s got friends who think that Bakugou’s treatment of him is awful. Like Uraraka, who he’s paired up with in this so-called ‘lesson’ of All Might’s. He knows she won’t let anything happen to him. And Iida’s with Bakugou. He’s sure that the blue haired boy wouldn’t let him go too far either.
… Actually. Maybe he can play on that.
He pulls out his phone as stealthily as possible while All Might decides the order of the groups and starts plotting. If he plans this just right, they can win without a doubt. He’s got some semblance of his plan put together by the time it’s his and Uraraka’s turn to wait for Bakugou and Iida to set up. He follows her quietly to the entrance to wait. He waits a moment before reaching up to take out the earpiece All Might had provided them. He whispers, “I have a plan but it’s a stupid one.”
“Stupider than scaling a robot the size of a building?” she asks back. She even reaches up and removes her earpiece as well. Izuku’s whole being warms with that level of trust.
“Considering my plan is to capitalize on Bakugou coming after me and attempting to beat the shit out of me? Yes.”
Her eyes go wide at that, “Oh…”
He nods and glances around to make sure they’re truly alone before he relays his plan, “Can you keep another secret?”
“Yes of course!” She replies without hesitation.
He smiles and moves to stand next to her, phone out with the screen horizontal. “Okay, this is a 3D rendition of the building All Might picked for this lesson,” He pulls it up on the screen and zooms into it a bit.
“Whoa… Where’d you get this?” She asks.
“Hacked into Principal Nedzu’s network to get the 3D blueprint from the database,” He responds casually before tapping around on the screen, “Now based on Bakugou being Bakugou and Iida being Iida; Bakugou will be patrolling for me around the front and back entrances of the building.” The screen zooms in on the entrance way and the hallways lining the area to the back entrance. “Meanwhile, Iida will be focused on the task at hand and plant the bomb. Based on interactions with him and just some knowledge of his mindset, he’ll more than likely put it in one of these locations.” The 3D render zips up to the far upper floors of the building, several rooms highlighted in red. “This is because he knows you and I well enough to know that’s the best place to put it; You with your nausea from your quirk and me with my lack of one. No hate though, he’s just using my lack of a quirk to his advantage.”
“Okay, yeah, makes sense. So what’s the plan, exactly?”
Izuku goes back to the full outside view of the building, “Taking in your nausea factor, about how far up the building do you think you could float? Just point to a window you think you could reasonably get to without overtaxing yourself.”
“Um…” She stares at it for a long moment before pointing to a window on the third floor, “Probably this one.”
“That’s perfect. It puts a whole floor in between you and Bakugou. It’s probably going to get a bit… explosive once he sees me. But I’ll be counting on that.”
“I’m a bit worried for your safety now, not going to lie…”
That’s really sweet of her. He smiles at her gently, “Don’t worry. Bakugou has only ever known the me who has never fought back for fear of a worse punishment from teachers. Not to mention when I was so far in my self depreciation that it didn’t even occur to me that I could in the first place. He’s never attacked me before when I have the ability to fight back. I can handle him. I promise, Uraraka-chan!”
She looks a bit apprehensive at first but then nods with a determined look on her face. He quickly runs her through his own plan for Bakugou after they split off. She still looks a bit apprehensive but adds that she trusts him to know what he’s doing. The place their headset pieces back into their ears just as the buzzer to start sounds. They exchange a nod and race towards the building. Izuku waits and watches as she floats herself up to the agreed upon window. She takes a couple of deep breaths when she releases herself onto the ledge to quell the rising nausea. She then looks down at him and nods. Izuku gives her a thumbs up before heading towards the entrance he was going to use to enter the building.
“I do hope you know I don’t like this plan of yours,” CATRA’s voice comes through on the comm.
“I’m not surprised you do. But it’ll work. I promise!” He tells her, glad that she was able to establish a link to him through the school’s mandated communicators.
It’s quiet for a moment before a low rolling purr sound comes through but it sounds more like a sigh. He really needs to program her more vocal tones so she can have a bit more range of emotional communication. He and the others can tell the difference but if he ever shows her off to everyone else, they’ll be in the dark. He quietly opens the door and slips through it into the entryway of the building. “I do hope you know that I will be contacting your teacher should this go any kind of way negatively,” she tells him firmly.
“I’d be insulted if you didn’t,” he whispers back before silently making his way to the edge of the hall. He ducks behind the wall and peaks around it. So far no sign of Bakugou. He needs to lure him away from the stairs though. He ducks back behind the edge and pulls out his phone again. Surely this building has a vent system since it’s a built-to-scale type of thing. He finds it in the blueprint he acquired. He puts his phone away and moves to the nearby vent shaft entrance. He pulls out a small screwdriver he keeps in one of the many pockets on his person. Carefully, he unscrews the vent before tucking the screwdriver away again.
He pulls the vent cover away and sets it down quietly on the ground in front of it. He waits another moment to just listen. Still no sound of Bakugou but he must be running about somewhere on this floor looking for him. He smirks. A wild goose chase sounds fun in his humble opinion! He picks up a random object nearby (a book maybe?) and throws it into the opposite wall. It hits with a loud thunk.
“THERE YOU ARE, YOU FUCKING DEKU!” Bakugou roars from somewhere down the hall.
Bingo. He slips into the vent and climbs quickly and quietly through them. He hears Bakugou curse as he comes into the area he was in and doesn’t find him. He snickers to himself quietly at it. He continues through the vents before pausing at one point to kick the side of it hard enough to echo. Bakugou curses again from somewhere on the floor and Izuku makes his ‘escape’ again. This time the roar that comes from Bakugou sounds furious. He’s clearly not as amused with this cat and mouse game as Izuku is; Especially since his mouse is getting away.
What Bakugou doesn’t know is that, this time, Izuku is the cat in their game.
He leads the ashy blonde around a few more times with some more well placed kicks here and there. He moves into one of the vent shafts that’s in the ceiling of the hallway and gives one more kick to the vent wall. He waits on top of the vent cover, staring down into the hallway.
“Where the fuck are you?!” Bakugou screams as he comes barrelling into the hallway, “Come out and face me you damn coward!”
Well… he asked for it! He slams his way out of the vent; Falling out of it right on top of Bakugou. The blonde grunts as the weight of another teenager hits him and knocks him to the floor, face down. Izuku takes the moment of him being dazed to grab one of his arms and pull it back into a position that’s slightly on the painful side. He learned this move from Dabi who picked it up during his time on the streets. He’s reaching for the other arm when Bakugou finally reorients himself and starts struggling as best as he can.
“You fucking cheat!” He cries as he thrashes around as much as he can with the other boy’s weight on him, “I don’t know what kind of fucking game you’re playing but it needs to stop!”
“If we’ve told you once, we’ve told you a thousand times. I didn’t cheat. The only thing that’s different this time is the rules. For once, the rules say I’m allowed to fight back!” Izuku practically growls at him. He manages to wrestle his other arm back, being sure to avoid the small pops and sparks of explosions yet to be set off. Izuku knows he only hasn’t set them off completely because the pain from his arm is distracting him. He’s not thinking straight from it, which works well in Izuku’s favor. He gets the capture tape around both his wrists and sighs with a bit of a smirk, “You’ve been detained, villain.”
Ruby red eyes widen from where they’re marginally looking over his shoulder before Bakugou starts shouting and thrashing again. Izuku’s tuning out all of it and just waiting for the call that Uraraka touched the bomb. It came through a moment or two later, with All Might announcing that the hero team had won. Izuku cheers quietly to himself over the win, not noticing that Bakugou had gone oddly still underneath him. Without a word or askance to do so, Izuku slips a small knife out to cut the bindings on Bakugou. Just because they’re not friends doesn’t mean that they’re not classmates and this wasn’t just an exercise. Hitoshi probably would’ve left him bound to embarrass him but Izuku’s not like that.
He easily cuts the binds and puts the knife away without a word. He’s planning on just standing up to head back to the observation room once Iida and Uraraka join them but Bakugou apparently has another idea. The blonde screams again, this time it sounds like anger mixed with anguish, and knocks Izuku off of him. Izuku grunts in discomfort as his shoulder lands awkwardly but quickly rolls to his feet.
Bakugou stands in front of him with near crazed eyes, arm held out in front of him in a way that’s oddly familiar, “I’m not letting you get away with this!”
“Get away with what?” He asks, eyeing the grenade bracers warily and knowing what they’re capable of, “Winning against you? For once in my fourteen years of life?! Are you really that pathetic?!”
“You don’t fucking get it!”
“Of course I don’t get it!” he argues back, his own anger now spiking up, “You did nothing but make my life miserable from the age of four until ten when I was finally, finally, able to get out of that school! All because I didn’t have a quirk! But now that I finally get a chance to play fair in this sick and twisted little fucking game you made up, you’re pissed because you lost?! Get real! Aizawa was right when he told us that life isn’t fair! I realized that a long time ago but you had too many people kissing your feet and ass for you to realize the same thing! Get it in your head and realize that your quirk doesn’t automatically make you the best person around! In reality, your personality and treatment of people that you think are ‘less’ than you makes you one of the worst!”
The fury that was boiling in Bakugou’s eyes turns into a blaze at that line. Perhaps Izuku went too far… Bakugou grabs the pin on his bracer and starts to pull it. Izuku’s eyes widened. Surely he wouldn’t? He hasn’t even tested them yet. Surely he won’t try to use them?!
“Bakugou-kun! Stop!” All Might cries out over the loudspeaker.
Bakugou doesn’t stop though. At the last possible second, Izuku moves; grabbing Bakugou’s wrists just as the pin is pulled out and pushing them up towards the ceiling. The explosion that goes off is massive. Or at least it feels that way. Sparks catch on both his hands and face from it. They sting but it’s nothing worse than what he was used to before from Bakugou. The smoke feels worse, filling his lungs from the closeness of it. Even Bakugou coughs a bit from it.
They both take a second to breathe a bit before Izuku glares up at him, telling him harshly, “That was so stupid of you.”
Bakugou makes a ‘tch’ sound with a grimace on his face. The sound of something cracking catches both their attention; Their heads whipping up to stare at the ceiling where the cracks from the explosion were now quickly spreading. Oh shit. It’s breaking fast! Only one of them will probably get fully out of the collapse zone. Izuku glances between Bakugou and the ceiling and makes a choice.
He moves his hands from Bakugou’s wrists to his shoulders and gives a harsh shove, much stronger than Bakugou was probably expecting. The blonde goes tumbling to the ground a few feet away just as the ceiling caves in. Izuku leaps a bit to try and get a majority out of the collapse zone but doesn’t fully make it; Being slammed to the ground as the rubble catches his waist and legs.
“Deku!” His head swims as he vaguely hears Bakugou call out that insulting nickname. “Hitoshi’s going to kill me,” Is his last thought before the world goes black.

For the song bnha au: "Rise" by Jonas Blue ft. Jack & Jack. Also, saw the video of ur cat and I love them
this was a very fun song. i liked listening to this! my cat knows u love him bc everyone loves him. he is very vain
anyway, the au this time is gonna be a villain (kind of) izuku au:
this is technically dfo but afo doesnt matter, inko just happened to die in childbirth and afo was like 'yknow i could use a hyperloyal pawn other than the child of my nemesis i kidnapped solely to taunt him' and so he takes izuku in and throws him to kurogiri
5 yr old shigaraki has never seen an infant before, so izuku is a totally foreign concept to him
kurogiri makes shigaraki take care of izuku a lot to teach him responsibilities but also keeps an extremely sharp eye and ear trained on him bc disintegration quirk
shigaraki gets good at taking care of him, and realizes he actually likes taking care of people
he doesnt want to be a hero anymore bc they left him for dead but he does want to make people happy, izuku is v similar bc hes been infected by afo's v occasional teachings
they just. pick ppl up. the same way aizawa picks up cats. dabi, right after his bastard father nearly kills him. toga after her parents kick her out. twice, they just pick up off the street. compress just shows up one day and nobody says anything so he just stays there.
magne frequents the bar and after finding a lack of judgement there, ends up renting a room. she is also a Member of the Family
izuku and shigaraki are as fiercely protective of their family as afo is of his quirks
speaking of him
whenever he calls to get updates on what theyre doing, bc he cant be nothered to check on them himself, whoever picks up the phone just. lies
'yes sir, they're planning an attack on a local group of rival criminals'
meanwhile theyre looking at izuku and shouto (who comes by to visit his brother) competing in just dance, shiggy losing to toga and dabi in a game of texas holdem, compress showing magic tricks to both astounded and unimpressed twice, and magne chatting with spinner abt how to deal w ppl who dont like the way u look
later on they do attack the rival group but its bc theyre human traffickers and u dont do that kind of shit within the shigaraki brothers sphere of control
the area around the bar ends up w an extremely decreased crime rate that nedzu starts to investigate
he figures out whats going on and helps hide their trail of evidence from the cops and other heroes bc 'i know from personal experience that the law is not always right'

Uncommon Ancestry 11b
Something was very wrong.
As much as he wanted to pretend otherwise, he couldn’t. Aizawa wasn’t in the business of self delusion. Whenever All Might wanted to speak to him, he would often walk right up to him and talk, at most asking him to go to the teachers room.
A formal request for a meeting, with a plea for maximum privacy, indicated something serious.
The feeling intensified when he showed up in a suit tailored for his smaller form. All Might favored clothes he could grow into, should the need arise. Not doing that was a show of vulnerability, something All Might tried never to do.
“Aizawa, what I’m here to discuss is a matter of serious confidentiality. Parts of it are a government level secret. Can I trust your discretion on this?”
Aizawa nodded, not changing his expression.
All Might sighed. “There are three levels of secrecy about me. The faculty has been apprised of the first level, only Nedzu and Chiyo know the others.” And Midoriya, but saying that would probably just anger Aizawa.
“And you’re telling me because?” Aizawa crossed his arms and fixed him with a look he used for misbehaving students.
“That should become apparent, once I explain.” All Might took a breath and it was obvious he was uncomfortable discussing this. “The second secret is one that probably isn’t too hard to guess from my current condition. I’m dying.” It felt like he had been punched in the gut. He wasn’t a fan of All Might, he found the man frustrating. But the Symbol of Peace had been a part of the public consciousness for decades and somehow the idea of him dying seemed impossible. And Aizawa was more than a little peeved to realize he’d fallen into some of the hype.
It did explain the somber attitude though. “And the third?” he asked, trying to distract from the second. “My quirk is...unique. It’s not passed down from parent to offspring, but rather can be given to a successor the current holder deems worthy.”
Aizawa wanted to argue the impossibility of that statement, but he’d had to expand his idea of what was possible. And suddenly something else made a lot of sense. “That’s why you came to UA? To find a successor?” It all made sense, if All Might was dying, he couldn’t wait. That didn’t mean Aizawa approved though.
“Got it in one. I found the perfect successor in Izuku Midoriya-” “He’d never agreed.” Aizawa said heatedly. Midoriya took pride in being the first quirkless person to be accepted to UA. All Might laughed. “Got it in one. He turned me down. I did ask him, though, if he had any idea who my successor should be, as I did anyone who knew the truth. He gave me some ideas. The last one was one I hadn’t considered, but his argument was sound.” “And it’s someone from my class.” Aizawa held his gaze steady.
“In a manner of speaking.” All Might admitted. “The Ninth holder of One For All needs to be someone humble enough to keep the secret, who’s a Hero in order to do good and not personal glory, who’s responsible and level headed, and has good judgement to know who best to pass it on to later. And as Young Midoriya pointed out, who fits that better than you.”
Aizawa felt his brain stop. “Me?”
All Might nodded. “I wouldn’t have considered it, One For All had always been passed from mentor to student. But I don’t have the time to teach a student properly. You already fit all the major criteria. I won’t ask you to become the next Symbol of Peace, I know that would be antithetical to you. But rather, to keep the quirk alive until you find someone worthy of being the next to carry the title.” All Might slid from the chair to him knees, bowing deeply. “I know it’s a terrible thing to ask. A large burden I place upon you. But I’m out of time. And even my short time as a teacher in UA has taught me how little I know of mentoring. Please.” “Stand up.” Aizawa instructed. “First you are going to tell me everything about this, nothign left out. Then...we’ll see.”
~~~~
I’ve been sitting on this for so long. It’s not an approach I’ve seen before and I hope people enjoy it.
Just had some angsty TABF thoughts that I wanted to share with y’all today because I know how much y’all love your angst ;)
I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned what I had planned for Fortune’s future living arrangements, but as y’all probably guessed, she and Eri live in the dorm with her students up until they graduate.
Once the kids graduate, however, Fortune & Eri move into an apartment that’s next door to Aizawa’s. That particular apartment was kept empty for that specific reason since Nedzu knew that Aizawa would want them close, and he figured that once Midoriya and the others graduated it would be best for Fortune/Eri to have a place of their own rather than continue having them live in the dorms.
It’s mostly for the sake of Fortune & Eri’s privacy since future students wouldn’t know anything about their pasts, and UA would like to keep things that way.
Of course, Fortune still works as Aizawa’s TA during the years she’s taking college courses before eventually becoming a full fledged teacher herself, so she does end up with other students that she looks after and grows close to. She just never gets as close to them as she does Midoriya and the others because her future students never find out about her amnesia or anything related to her past.
Anyway, the thoughts I wanted to share are in relation to events that happen after Midoriya and the others graduate and Fortune/Eri move into their shared apartment.
As y’all can probably guess, even after her students graduate and become pro heroes, they all remain in close contact with Fortune. Although, Bakugou is bad about doing that as compared to everyone else lol
Well, one of the ways they remain in contact is that Midoriya and the others often pay Fortune visits when they’re in the area. Sometimes, the visits are casual while other visits are for more serious reasons.
As y’all know, being a hero isn’t an easy job, so there’s no doubt that Midoriya and the others will experience plenty of hardships once they become adults. It’s oftentimes during these times of hardships that they go to visit Fortune since even when they’re adults she’s still a source of comfort for them.
So, whenever they all experience their first death on the job or any other kind of serious hardship, all of them end up going to see Fortune on at least one occasion since they don’t want to be alone, but they also don’t want to be a burden to anyone.
Thankfully, Fortune has made it loud and clear that their visits are always welcome no matter what time or day, so if they ever need her, they shouldn’t hesitate to come see her.
And that’s exactly what they do. When they can’t handle things on their own and they need an older adult figure to lean on, they go to Fortune. While the ones with pro heroes for relatives also often go to their relatives during situations like this, there are also occasions when they go see Fortune too.
One thing I’d like to note is that Bakugou, Midoriya, Todoroki, Shinsou, & Kirishima all take a strong interest in putting an end to the underworld once they become pro heroes because of what they know about Fortune’s past. So, they often get involved with work that has to deal with stopping villains and dealings that are connected to underworld.
On one such mission, the guys find children who were subjected to the same kind of treatment as Fortune was, many of which are in really bad shape. One in particular was a girl on death’s door because she had an infected wound that her handler didn’t bother to get treated.
Despite the guys’ best efforts, the girl ends up dying even after they manage to get her to a hospital. As you can expect, they really don’t take it well since the little girl reminded them a lot of Fortune. Plus, child deaths always hit the hardest.
One by one, the five guys end up showing up at Fortune’s apartment during different parts of the night, and she and Eri set up a pillow fort for them in the living room which is where they all end up falling asleep. Fortune had a vision, so she knew what to expect and was ready and waiting for them when they started arriving.
Bakugou is the last to arrive since his pride didn’t want him to show any sign of “weakness”. In the end, he still came though because he couldn’t fall asleep and he just wanted to see that Fortune was alright since every time he closed his eyes all he could see was Fortune dead on the floor rather than the little girl that he and the others couldn’t save.
When she opens her front door and sees Bakugou standing there, Fortune just pulls him into a hug and holds him tight, all without saying a word. Rather than complain about the hug like he normally does, Bakugou just silently returns it and clutches her as tightly as he can.
Because, despite what the world might think, heroes can’t be strong all the time.
Hey! How would each member of the dekubowl (and Midoriya himself) react to dicks (*coughEndeavorcough*) saying that Aizawa is a bad teacher and shouldn't be one after do many attacks?
Tumblr media
Phew! This took a bit! But I’m pretty happy with it!! To the people who sent in asks, I’m doing them in the order I got them.
Izu my baby: My child is pulling out all the receipts. He’s bringing up death tolls, destruction of property, likeability, his piece of shit personality. Now we all my Izu is smart, but he’s not Nedzu, and he only knows a few facts about the Todoroki family, but he does have years of reading and participating in online forums about the disappearances of Endeavors wife and eldest son, not to mentions the large scar on Todoroki’s face that came out of nowhere when he was a child. Oh yeah, Izuku could bury that wannabe and smother his flames whenever he liked. (Sorry, got a bit vindictive towards the end there whoops)
Bakugou: He gave Endeavor a big ‘ol “FUCK YOUUUU” and the look on that bastard’s face was fucking priceless. It was a mix of “Excuse me???”, “Excuse YOU!” and “Whose sassy scary small child is this????”. 10/10 would see again. Then Bakugou was like “You heard me you dim piece of shit. I don’t give a FUCK who you are, all I know is you’re not All Might, nowhere even close and he can’t even insult Aizawa like that, you number two brain dead motherfucker.” I’m sorry, some of you have never seen the number 1 piece of shit get cussed out by an angsty teen and it shows.
Kirishima, Denki, Sero: Denki my baby, had a panic attack and was on the verge of short circuiting himself. The USJ traumatized him. Anyway, Denki firmly believes it’s because of Dadzawa that he and everyone he cares about lived, so the idea of losing him caused him to panic. Kirishima was in charge of calming him down because not only was my pika-baby discharging like crazy, but Kirishima has the best hugs, all big warm and comforting. Don’t think he wasn’t staring Endeavor down like he was something to stomp beneath his feet though. So Sero, enraged not only because he did that to Denki, but he wants to know who THE FUCK ENDEAVOR THINKS HE IS?! Dadzawa is the best hero they have ever had to joy of learning from and Endeavor had no right to criticize him when his own children hated him. (Nedzu in his office “👁️👄👁️”).
Tokoyami and Shoji: We all know he’s not the type to yell at people, and Dark Shadow is weak to light so he doesn’t really do anything other than give vague death threats that Endeavor doesn’t really understand but will keep him up in night wondering if that first year really had a Bloody Death Sword or- Anyway, so Tokoyami really depends on his buff boyfriend to make sure the message gets across. Shoji is staring. Endeavor. Down. Not moving a muscle, not making a sound, not blinking, holy shit is this kid even breathing what the-. He’s just staring. And of course, in his head he is cussing Endeavor out, like, 20x the amount Bakugou did, he’s just not the type to talk when he doesn’t need to. His glares on point though.
Momo and Mina: Mina went off immediately, she doesn’t know much about Todoroki’s home life and she may not be the smartest but she does know that Izuku hates him, and if her muscled bean doesn’t like a hero, then that hero’s shit. She does not hesitate to tell him so either, called him a piece of shit right to his face and how she can’t wait for everyone to get their heads out of their asses and realize that he doesn’t even belong to be the number two hero, or a hero at all. Momo needed to compose herself first because never has she wanted to immediately hurt someone before, just for a few words. As soon as those words had left him, her mind was already pulling up internal blue prints of various weapons that she trained with from a young age to use. Once she composed herself, she had to think about everything that made their teacher someone to admire so she just wouldn’t end up cussing the man out, which goes against how she was raised. Once Mina had finally calmed, Momo slowly walked up to Endeavor and after pulling on a flame-resistant glove, slapped Endeavor in the face for the complete and utter bullshit that he just spewed. Aizawa-sensei was a man to look up to and inspire to be like when one got older. If it wasn’t for his faith in her, Momo would have the confidence she has in herself now, she wouldn’t be as comfortable with her intelligence as she was now if it wasn’t for him. She wouldn’t trade Aizawa-sensei for the world. (Mina was definably recording the whole thing because she has this sixth sense for recording at the perfect moment).
Iida and Shinso: You would think Iida would be there so Shinso wouldn’t make Endeavor do anything illegal with his quirk, but nope! Shinso was definably there so Iida would attack the number two hero. He has a reputation now, lmao. Iida compares Endeavor harshly with like any other fucking hero. Some honorable mentions are Ingentium, Muriko, All Might, Hawks, and Best Jeanist. (I feel like Endeavor wouldn’t like Best Jeanist). Shinso definitely goes off saying how physical quirks are shit and how even someone like himself could beat him. And that get Endeavor angry and he’s like “well then show me” and Shinso’s like “Really? Your giving me verbal permission to use my quirk on you.” And endeavors like “Of course! Your baby quirk can’t do shit to me.” And then Endeavor punched himself in the face.
Todoroki: “I am not you. I will never be you and I will never want to be you. I want to be a hero that mom would be proud of. One that Natsuo won’t hate, one that doesn’t give Fuyumi nightmares. I want to be one that Touya would ask for help. I don’t want to be the kind of hero that causes hate and rage and despair everywhere I go. I don’t want to be you.
“No matter how many times you “train me” or yell at me, or threaten me I will never be you! I would rather die than be you! I want to be the kind of Hero that Izuku looks up to, the kind of hero Aizawa-sensei will hear about and think of how far along he helped me go. Because it’s because of Izuku and Aizawa-sensei that I will ever become a hero that I will be proud of.
“My name is Shoto from UA and I want to be a hero that others feel safe when they see me. And that hero will never be based off of you. I will stand beside Izuku and Eraserhead and I will make sure people are safe, because that’s what heroes do.”
Baton Pass! AU
BNHAxPersona 5 crossover
Me: I have so many AUs and stories already, I shouldn’t make another one. Brain: ...but this one’s a crossover with persona 5.  Me, already typing: You had me convinced at crossover.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Izuku quirk is called Baton Pass and it gives him the ability to energize other’s quirks. Izuku is thrilled - finally he can be a hero that helps everyone, like All Might!! - only to be laughed at. He can’t be a hero by himself, Kaachan mocks. What is he going to do, make the villains stronger? He’s better off staying back and supporting the real heroes.
Izuku disagrees. He can be a hero! Not just a sidekick or a support.
Katsuki disagrees. And after that... things end up very similar to canon.
One day when Izuku was a second year middle schooler, he was running away from Katsuki and his gang. He ended up running so far, he ended up in Yongen-Jaya. In fact, he went into a little coffee shop in a side street so he can get his barrings before going home.
The door rings and Sojiro sees a boys with bruises on his face. Having just adopted Futaba, he can’t help but let the boy inside and treat his wounds.
Izuku doesn’t tell Boss who hurt him - they’d just met after all and he didn’t want to burden Boss with his problems - but Sojiro manages to convince Izuku that he’s welcome at the cafe any time and gives him free curry.
Izuku ends up being a regular customer by the time Akira gets on set to Sojiro on probation. He even knows Futaba.
Kind of. Sojiro realized early on that Izuku loved analyzing heroes so whenever Izuku shows up, Sojiro changes the channel to hero news.
Futaba, who can hear and see into the cafe because of her spy cameras, knows who Izuku is and, in a fit of courage, contacts Izuku as Alibaba through his phone to ask about what he’s muttering about.
Izuku starts freaking out because “someone is watching me!!! they can hear me?!?!?” while Boss immediately figures out “Hey that’s my kid... wait, that’s my kid?? She’s contacting someone!!”
So he and Futaba end up in a kind of friendship that’s entirely online with both of them ignoring the massive wounds in the other’s psyche.
So Akira arrives and Izuku is the only one of the regulars who knows he’s sleeping in the cafe’s attic. To him, it makes sense because why would Boss put Akira in his house with his vulnerable daughter? He doesn’t know that Akira is on probation though.
For the first month, things are really good! Izuku shows up like 4 days a week, he and Akira get along well to the relief of Sojiro.
Izuku ends up as a confidant for Akira and since P5R is going to have non-tarot based confidants, Izuku is the Étudiant, or the Student.
Izuku ends up teaching Akira how to analysis quirks (and eventually Shadows) and gives ideas on how to use his and the other Thieves quirks better since quirks still work in the Metaverse.
In return, Akira gives Izuku self defense lessons, since Izuku’s family can afford them.
Morgana likes Izuku too. He gives the best head scratches.
But after Kamoshida, Izuku starts showing up at the cafe less and less. And when he is there, he’s exhausted, as if he’s run a mile. Weird bruises show up on his body, but whenever anyone asks what’s going on, he answers that he’s training for the hero course at UA, but he looks so twitchy and figity that everyone thinks he’s lying.
He’s telling the truth, but rather is worried that someone is going to find out about All Might, which makes him nervous every time someone brings up the training.
Sojiro, Akira, and Futaba watch worriedly for a few months. Because while his body is filling out with muscle, Izuku seems so exhausted and worried.
During the summer, Futaba finally contacts Akira and the Phantom Thieves. She still wants them to change her heart, but as part of her demands in dealing with Medjed, she wants them to figure out what’s happening with Izuku.
All of them agree, since they all like Izuku (or at least, know enough about him to worry Makoto), so they go to his middle school and immediately spot Bakugou intimidating Izuku.
I know Medjed takes place in the summer but imagine its like cram school or something.
Ryuji learns from one of the other students near by that “the blond kid’s name is Bakugou Katsuki”. They check the Meta-app and he has a palace.
“He’s so young... to think his world is already so distorted.”
“It is unsettling. But, it is our sacred duty to cleanse such hearts. Do we have the location?”
“It’s gotta be the school, ain’t it?”
“It fits.”
“W-Wait, guys! Should we be doing this? I mean, shouldn’t we be focusing on Futaba’s Palace first?”
“You do have a point, Lady Ann, but it doesn’t hurt to investigate. After all, it’s not like this Palace will have a time limit.”
“Besides, did you see that little shit? Walking around like this place is his damn playground or something...”
“Navigating...”
“Holy crap, that worked!?”
None of them had noticed Izuku, who had seen his friends and was about to greet them when the world warped.
*************************************************************************************** Persona 5 Character’s Quirks:
Akira: Shadow Manipulation - Control over shadows, mostly his own or ones his shadow is touching. Can sink into the shadows to hide and travel.
Morgana: Healing - You’d think he’d have an advanced intelligence quirk like Nedzu, but nope. Only people who’ve been in the Metaverse can hear him talk.
Ryuji: Static Pull - Can pull electricity out of electronics and disperse it across his body. Used it on Kamoshida after he broke his leg and nearly got expelled.
Ann: Flame Teleportation - Creates a ball of fire that teleports whatever is inside it. Is dangerous, but Ann controls the heat of the flames to reduce danger.
Yusuke: Steady Hand - Complete muscular control. Uses it to keep his hand from shaking while painting or keeping a pose for hours for Madarame.
Makoto: Indestructible -  Bones are unbreakable and skin is impenetrable. Muscles can get hurt though.
Futaba: Technokinesis -  Ability to control technology. Specifically anything with an internet connection.
Haru: Hallucination - Can cause overwhelming hallucinations through skin on skin contact. Weaker through her hands, stronger through her lips. Involuntary.
Sojiro: Insight - Provides a small look into someone’s favorite/life through skin contact. Can be repeated. His first Insight on Izuku was Izuku’s favorite burn cream.
A Slightly Bitter Love Story 1
Within UA's office building, through the twisting corridors and dozens of offices, you would find the head office of one Nedzu, the genius animal whose eye for talent and strategy remained unmatched. Within this office, a particularly curious group had assembled. Nedzu himself- it was his office after all- One of Nedzu's trusted teachers, the ever logical Aizawa Shouta, and, oddly enough, the Rank 5 Pro Hero Miruko, arms crossed and foot tapping in annoyance.
The two humans stood behind Nedzu's desk, flanking the small rodent as they stared at the student sitting in the center of the room. They were tall for a 17 year old, and they had longer black hair that fell down their face in long wavy strands, although it was still much shorter than Aizawa's own unkempt hairstyle. The boy, whose face was twisted into a sour expression of frustration, sat with his arms crossed, glaring at the Rabbit Hero with as much heat and anger as she had been sending his way for the last 15 quiet minutes.
Nedzu figured it was about time they broke that silence. “Shogeki-kun, you could just say no, you’ve been glaring at that file fo-”
“Alright sick, later-”
“Sit your ass down, boy!” Shogeki Akira groaned in frustration while Nedzu just sighed, asking Miruko to keep her voice down. She harumphed loudly, crossing her arms and continuing to bare her teeth at her student intern. He gave her back just as much as she gave him, really really not in the mood for her shit today.
“Shogeki-kun," Nedzu decided to try again, "While I can’t force you to accept this offer, I’m sure it will be of great benefit to the both of us.”
“Look Nedzu-sensei, I get it, I really do, but how the hell would I benefit from this? I already have to deal with my classes and training, not to mention my internship with this bitch!” He gestured to Miruko, who just rolled her eyes at him. “I don’t have time for any of this, not that I would want to do it anyway.”
“Hey brat," Shogeki looked back over at Miruko, who had lost her scowl, "Quit being a jackass and actually think this through. The League has had a leg up on the heroes for too long, and we finally managed to catch one. This is a victory these whelps," She gestured to Nedzu and Aizawa with her head, "Desperately need. Now quit causing problems and put what I've taught you into action."
The student pinched his nose, trying to ignore the small bit of shame he was feeling that was quickly replaced with more annoyance. He turned to Nedzu, "Alright, alright. Let's say I agree to this crazy ass plan you've got. What then? I still have my classwork, plus my extra coursework for advanced classes, and hero training, and my internship. I'm running on fumes at the end of my days as is, I don't have the time to play babysitter to some blonde bimbo in a sailor outfit."
"We've thought it over," Aizawa spoke up, bringing the students attention to him, "And we're prepared to transfer some of your classes into a workload only structure. You'll be given all of your work for that class at the beginning of the month, and you'll be able to complete them on your own time- Lectures no longer required."
Shogeki hummed, "Alright, but what classes? Hero training is obviously not an option, I'm acing the entirety of mathematics, so I guess that? And Modern Hero Art History, not that I give a damn about that class anyway."
“Is that so?” Nedzu glanced over at Aizawa in the corner of the room, who returned the look with a dead stare. Looking back, the ferret-like creature shuffled around a few papers on his desk and said, “I think we can drop Modern Hero Art and Mathematics.”
The student blew air out of his nose in thought, before he sighed, nodded his head, and leaned forward to sign the paperwork. He shook Nedzu's paw and asked,  “When am I getting her?”
“We’ll have the police bring her to your dorm in about a week. We’ll make your classmates aware of the basics of the situation and we’ll help you rearrange your room to accommodate.”
“Yeah, that makes sense" I'm gonna nee- Wait, wait wait wait, she’s gonna be shacking up with me?! I agreed to babysit her, not marry the psycho.”
Aizawa jumped in with, “There needs to be a constant watch over her, so measures will be taken to ensure she’s never more than 20 meters away from you. Any chance she has to escape or cause harm to another student, she’ll no doubt take, so you can’t let her out of your sight. Hygiene and other more private concerns will be deliberated to a female classmate of your choosing, however the large majority of her captivity is your responsibility.”
“The hell is gonna stop her from slitting my neck in my sleep?”
“We’ll be changing the lock on your door from the standard deadbolt to a special electromagnetic lock that Power Loader is designing. It’ll only open when a current of 2 Million Volts run through it, a dangerous level of electricity that very few people in this school have the ability to interact with.”
“Alright, I see how she’ll be unable to escape, but you glossed over the bit about her maybe killing me.”
“All staff and students will be made aware that opening that door themselves will result in severe consequences, meaning that if she kills you, she’ll be left to starve to death.”
“Glad to see my safety is of such a high conce-” Miruko clocked him on the head, a sign that he should probably quit running his mouth. Growling and feeling a bit of blood in his mouth, he swallowed and gave up trying to figure out the situation and just stood up to leave. “I’ll assume you assholes won’t just leave me to die and take my leave then. Need to make sure I hide most of my important shit at my dad’s place, but I’ll wait on you guys to help with the furniture stuff. Anything else I should know?”
“Yeah, actually.” Miruko spoke up, “Stop giving the cops such a hard time, you’re not a pro hero yet, so the cops are gonna have to go through the standard procedures whenever you actually bag a criminal. It’s not their fault, so stop acting like a jackass.”
“I’m not giving them a hard time, I’m just showing them a video on my phone that I’ve found to validate my actions.”
“Oh god, it’s not Stain’s video is it?” Aizawa asks from the corner.
“No, it’s a video of me saying ‘Shogeki Akira is my intern and he’ll do what he wants’.” Miruko gave the second-year student a look like she was just asking him to argue with her. Well, if she was asking…
“Well, you did let me record that video.”
“Because that was the only way I could get you to quit calling me at 3 am from the police station every time your sorry ass got arrested for beating up thugs when you couldn’t sleep!”
“And I haven’t woken you up since, now have I?”
“Shogeki-kun, you can return to class now.” Nedzu interrupted what was quickly becoming a pissing contest before either of them could come to blows, or more realistically, before Miruko could beat him into the ground for disrespecting her authority.
The younger hero in training was only too happy to leave, saying over his shoulder, “I don’t have to go to Mathematics anymore, so I’m heading back to my room. Later boys.” A snarky handwave followed and it was only Aizawa’s capture gear that stopped the rabbit hero from chasing him down.
XXXXXXXXXXXX
“Damnit man, I thought we told you not to get yourself expelled.” The voice that came from behind him was playful, if not still somehow mature at the same time.
With a heavy sigh, Shogeki looked up from packing a box with now-unneeded textbooks and over to his door, mildly upset to see Totsu standing there with his arms crossed. “Will you fuck off and leave me alone for once in your life, I’ve got enough shit to do without having to play 20 questions with you.”
“Oh please, we both know I’d kick your ass at-”
“Coffee table.”
“What are you, a wizard?! How do you do that?”
“You always guess coffee table first, even Hamada knows that, and she’s as scatterbrained as they come.” Totsu pouted, ignoring Shogeki’s very obvious annoyance and sitting on his bed. “What do you want, Totsu, I’m busy. I have to make room for a roommate, because being forced to live with all of you apparently wasn’t punishment enough.”
“Would you lighten up, it’s probably not that ba-”
“She’s a serial killer who’s killed over 90 people.”
“You’re complaining about sharing a room with a chick? Don’t you know that half of the guys in our class would kill to be in your shoes right now?”
“Did you literally not hear a single word I just said?”
“Wait, you’re tossing your neons?!” Totsu pointed to a box of neon wall signs wrapped in an excessive number of towels. “Dude, those are sick, I’ll give you 10,000 yen for them.”
“First of all, those are worth at least 500,000 total, so fuck off my dick with this 10,000 shit. Second, fuck you, third, I’m not tossing them, I’m taking them back to my dad’s place for safekeeping. Supposedly this bitch can kill with her teeth, so I’m not gonna give her chemical weapons in the shape of a glass pineapple.”
“Ooh, are we making fruit salads in here? I heard pineapple!” This time the voice was high pitched and feminine, and the face in the doorway was one made completely of water.
“Hamada, get out of here, we’re not making fruit salads, I’m movi- Why won’t you people leave me alone! Go away, Kikai!” Shogeki screamed at the large robotic student that had appeared behind Hamada, spooking them a bit. The robot charged down the hall, seemingly upset, leading Hamada to voice her thoughts on Shogeki’s rudeness. “Goddamnit, Totsu, go get Kikai and calm them down, I need to talk to Hamada about some shit.”
“Don’t go sleeping around, now, your new girlfriend will get all upset.” The shorter boy left with a cheeky laugh, ducking under a textbook thrown his way.
“Stupid bastard. You can’t even have sex, Hamada, your body doesn’t allow it… Right?” Shogeki shot the water girl a look, gesturing to her body.
“Well, not with you Sparky, you’d drive me a different type of crazy.”
“Can you not do this?”
“Like, I get what you mean, bu-” He shoved his arm into her shoulder and released a small shock, causing her body to lose its shape and collapse into a puddle, her clothes falling with wet smack.
“I get that you love talking, but seriously shut up for a minute.” She reformed just her upper body, sticking out of the floor and causing water damage that he’d probably have to fix later but whatever. “The principal is giving me one of those League bastards to keep an eye on, and there’s certain shit I can’t really do. You’re gonna be in charge of that shit.”
“Like what?”
“Like making sure she’s not turning a wall tile into a shank when she’s in the shower or something. Despite Totsu’s efforts, we don’t have co-ed bathrooms, so I’m not really allowed to be around when she’s showering, so you’ll have to tag in for that.”
“How’s it pay?”
“…Fuckin what?”
“How much are you paying me? This is a job right?”
“No, I’m not getting paid, so neither are you bitch. Got a problem, talk to Nedzu, now get out.”
“Fine, I will talk to Nedzu.” Hamada pouted, reforming the rest of her body and walking out of his room with her arms crossed.
With a deep sigh, Shogeki put the last few textbooks into the box and taped it up, carrying it down to the common room. He sent a message to his father to figure out a time to pick them up and went back up to his room. Taking a quick look around, he decided he’d done enough with his day and retreated back to his room, planning to lie down on his bed to wait until dinner. He used his phone to look up some extra info on this Toga chick he was gonna have to be putting up with. He was aware of the basics, just about anyone knew who the League of Villains were, and the names of the members had become common knowledge to most.
After 20 minutes of searching the internet, he still hasn't found any news of her capture. He had to give it to Miruko, when she decided she wanted to keep quiet she actually pulled off the impossible and didn't make a scene. Since he figured he wasn't gonna find anything he didn't already know, he put his phone to the side and crossed his arms behind his head. Once Toga was passed off to him, he fully expected his precious peace and quiet would disappear in its entirety. It would be wise to savor it while he still could.
Random BNHA headcanons (1 - Aizawa, Yamada, Kayama and Iida, cause we don’t talk about them enough)
Aizawa Shouta (Eraserhead), Yamada Hizashi (Present Mic), Kayama Nemuri (Midnight) and Iida Tensei (Ingenium) went to the same class in U.A (eventually)
Hizashi and Tensei got in through the entrance exam, obviously, but Nemuri and Shouta were transferred from Gen Ed.
Shouta won first place in his first year Sports Festival, and was transferred after the summer break. He became a legend among the hero course rejects of Gen Ed.
Nemuri approached him in the middle of the year, saying he became kind of a legend, and asking him for tips on maximising her chances to transfer.
He tells her that relying just on her quirk is stupid and she should give herself more options.
Second year begins, and she’s in the hero course. (If asked, Shouta will deny that he landed her all of his class notes so she can catch up).
Tensei was class representative. He was a cool guy, easy to talk with, and everyone liked him.
That’s why everyone was surprised that he mainly hung out with the loud and excitable dork, trash bag transfer boy, and sass queen (though she was more understandable to them).
To be honest, they were also surprised about Tensei hanging out with them.
Tensei and Nemuri dated for a few months. They were the class’ most popular couple. They broke up a few months later and stayed great friends.
Nemuri will NOT let Tensei forget it.
The only reason Tenya doesn’t know about it from her is because Tensei threatened to show him pictures of her in high school. Not the good school pictures she got ready for. The really shitty pictures they took with horrible faces after three all-nighters in a row.
Speaking of Tenya, the group would babysit him a lot when they were in school. They did it less once they actually became pros , but Tenya still wonders why Aizawa sensei looked so familiar to him the first time he walked into class.
During the third year pairs of students are sent on patrols (not only in the internship program, but also as a school project, under their teachers and unrelated to outside work experience). Shouta patrolled with Hizashi, and Tensei patrolled with Nemuri.
Tensei has a gas mask installed in his suit so he can patrol with Nemuri and allow her to use her quirk affectivly.
Shouta and Hizashi patrolling together was the funniest thing ever cause Hizashi is all strolling down on the street, high fiving random civilians, and Shouta just,,, does parkour,,, trying to stay unseen,,, falling into a dumpster more times than he’d like to admit when he didn’t calculate the jump right,,,
Tensei (being the fastest) helped Shouta train on catching moving targets with his capture weapon.
When Tensei is in the hospital after the Stain incident, the entire team comes to visit him (usually separately).
Hizashi visits the least. Three-jobs-Yamada can’t catch a break. He’s an English teacher, a radio host, and a pro hero all at the same time. Even so, he calls whenever he can, sends little stuff with the others, and dedicates him songs on his radio show (they’re either Tensei’s favourites, songs that only mean something to their little group, songs they loved hating as teenagers or songs Tensei absolutely hates but Hizashi keeps trying to convince him to listen to).
Shouta’s visits are almost always unofficial. He hardly ever makes it on visitation hours, but the patient (and his family) approves of those unconventional visits, and the overworked night shift staff likes him (he always has something to eat/drink in his sleeping bag and he would share it with anyone, be it the doctors or the maintenance staff, out of tired solidarity), so they can turn a blind eye. After all, underground heroes work very hard.
Nemuri is the only one whose visiting schedule is normal I swear to god that woman is the only adjusted adult among them. She always has a funny story to tell him about her students or about her fans.
All three of them keep him distracted and don’t fuss too much around him. He appreciates it. His little brother looks so scared and heartbroken when he visits, and his mother is always worried. It’s nice to catch a break and laugh at something silly with his friends.
When he’s released, Tensei gets kinda bored. It’s great to be back home and all, but there isn’t much to do (especially with Tenya off at the dorms), and his parents won’t stop treating him like he’s fragile, both emotionally and physically. It really gets on his nerves, and he can’t actually escape it.
He does have an awesome wheelchair, and he tweaked with it a little (with some more professional help from a certain support technician he met in his earlier years and whose daughter totally played Tenya in the sports festival) so now it can go really fucking fast.
Eventually he decides the best place for him to be, where he can still be helpful to society with his experience even without being an active hero, is U.A. He asks Nedzu for a job as a substitute teacher.
He gets the job, both because Yamada Hizashi SERIOUSLY looks like he would pass out/get caffeine poisoning if he doesn’t get some rest, and because his experience is invaluable in this era of heroism.
His skills are so important because Ingenium was always known for his ability to cooperate with other heroes. He had dozens of sidekicks, and his team was always known for their ability to coordinate big scale operations together and work as a well oiled machine to ensure every case was solved in the fastest, cleanest way. They were also known to be able to cooperate very well with heroes they weren’t as familiar with, and produce great results. This skill is what made him fit to also substitute for All Might, who with all his power never really needed to work with a team. He had one sidekick at a time, and they were practically the only people he worked with. When you’re as powerful as All Might, you don’t usually need to team up with others.
Obviously, he starts studying education at the same time so he can become a full time teacher (also so he can be a better teacher at the moment).
He keeps it as a surprise from Tenya. He wants to see the look on his face when he gets into class for the first time.
First time Tensei rolls into class, with a shit eating grin on his face, and says “hello class, my name is Iida Tensei, and I’ll be your substitute teacher”, Tenya almost loses it. Tensei isn’t disappointed by the reaction.
The teacher’s lounge is never quiet again. Ever. The old gang is back and they are even louder with Tensei there. They all do their jobs, and do them perfectly, but there’s a lot more banter.
Cementoss really enjoys it. He was two years below them in school, and always kind of looked up to the four of them.
do you think mic would have a call line that aizawa can chime into?
Oh, without a doubt! I don’t know jack diddly about how radio works, so a lot of what I’m about to say is probably nonsensical bullshit (and also probably 99% fanfic-inspired and all said before by more eloquent writers), but we’ll just go with it anyway
Mic either has a special line Aizawa can call in to get directed immediately to Mic, separate from the queue, or Mic is hypervigilant of Aizawa’s number on the call lists and gives his call TOP PRIORITY. It doesn’t matter if Aizawa is 1st in the queue or the 1111th, Mic will slam dunk that answer button when he sees his husband’s number. And he has relayed his willingness to do so thousands of times to Aizawa, who mostly complains that doing so would con some poor sap out of a personal one-on-one with Present Mic.
You could probably count the times Aizawa has actually called in, in the 6 or so years Mic has been broadcasting, on one hand. Aizawa is just content to listen most of the time; if he has a quiet night of patrolling, he’ll stick in an earbud to tune in, and on other early nights, he’ll fall asleep on the couch with the radio softly humming away on the coffee table. He doesn’t listen for the music, and he doesn’t care enough about the other heroes Mic interviews to pay attention to what they have to say.
He, of course, listens for Mic, whose stories mostly consist of his experiences as a hero, life at UA, both as a student and as a teacher, and answering questions about how to go about becoming a hero. Once in a while, Mic will regale his listeners with stories about his Favorite Listener, who, to this day, nobody (except for Aizawa and Mic’s close friends and other staff at UA, of course) has been able to figure out who that is. All anyone knows for a fact is that Mic’s favorite listener is a workaholic like himself, has an soft spot for cats, and is not big on attention. And besides random funny stories from their high school days, that’s all Mic will reveal about them, no matter how many people ask. In the beginnings of his radio show, he was a bit saddened about having to keep such an amazing person a secret, but now Mic treats it almost like a game, playing keepaway with the answer to such an enticing mystery.
[Putting the rest of this under a readmore because it turned out a lot longer than I intended it to 💦💦💦)
The first time Aizawa ever calls in is when they’re in their mid-twenties, both at the tops of their games with hero work. And with so much work, their time spent together is slim to none. Aizawa is off helping out taking down a large, traveling drug and trafficking ring with other underground heroes, while Mic is keeping Musutafu safe and applying to teach at UA, while also helping prep about three different fundraisers.They’ve gone about two months without seeing each other physically, and in the last three weeks they haven’t had the time to chat via phone nor video call. Aizawa misses him, of course. The most he can manage to get any contact whatsoever with Yamada is to either text him or tune into his radio show whenever he has a few minutes of downtime or during the times when he should be sleeping.
And it turns out Yamada misses him a whole heap, too. His tone when broadcasting is a lot less chipper than normal–probably sounds the same to a newer listener, but to someone who has been tuning in for a while, they’ll notice an immediate difference. He’s mopey, and his responses to callers and interviewees are either snappy or generic and distant.
It seems to be the right time to listen in, Aizawa can’t help but think, when one caller asks him what’s bothering him–a humorous reversal, since most callers chime in to complain about their problems to him–and Mic admits that he misses his favorite listener. Like. A lot. And that he wants to call them and talk to them for hours about just random shit and be able to hear their voice again for just one minute, one minute, it’s all he’s asking. When asked why Mic doesn’t just call, he tells his listener that they’re hella busy saving the world, and that he doesn’t want to distract them.
There’s a commercial break after the question, and Aizawa sighs, toys with his phone in his hand for the entire duration of ads, and finally gathers up the strength to dial in the number reserved for him and him only. The line rings once, twice, three times, and for a moment Aizawa wonders if he’s either dialed the wrong number or the call just won’t make it through. But as Mic is bringing the show back in, he cuts his sentence short with a small gasp, announces they have an unexpected caller, and quite literally slams the button to broadcast the call.
Aizawa doesn’t announce himself as Mic’s favorite listener, doesn’t even say, “hey, it’s me.” He simply starts out with, “Sorry I’ve been missing your shows lately. I tune in when I can, but it’s not often.”
He can only assume Hizashi is holding a hand up to his dopey, wobbling smile, because he can hear the emotion in his voice when he replies, “That’s alright, listener. ‘Not often’ is all we can manage sometimes.”
Aizawa didn’t really think of what he would say on this call, didn’t rehearse anything in his head for those five minutes of commercial silence, contemplating whether or not he should call in. He’s a man of few words, with those words being short and to-the-point. So that’s why his message ends up being, “I heard what you said earlier. I miss someone, too,” and nothing else.
Mic, the conversationalist he is, attempts to coax more out of him. “Oh? And what’s been keeping you two apart?”
“Work.”
“Isn’t that always the case? And what do you miss about ‘em?”
“Their voice. Their smile. Their laugh. Their stupid fashion sense and their ridiculous tastes in music.”
He hears Mic’s offended gasp, and then his laugh, probably to keep himself from blurting out, ‘hey, you’re one to talk!’ Mic settles with, “Bold words! Anything else?”
“….Their warmth and affection.”
Aizawa is anything but a romantic. He doesn’t get poetry or love songs. He doesn’t understand the media’s obsession with love as a concept. He hates PDA, and will actively tear away anyone’s hands that rest too close to him unless their on the limited list of Hizashi, Midnight, Recovery Girl, and Nedzu, the latter three he only allows because they’ve all earned his respect. To admit that he actually misses being wrapped tightly in Hizashi’s arms and receiving soft kisses, tender touches, and sweet words, is something he’ll probably have to live his life with in total and utter embarrassment.
Regardless, he can hear the smile in Hizashi’s voice as he responds, “Well, my listener, I’m sure once you two meet up again, that someone will shower you with so much warmth and affection, you’ll be drowning in it! ‘Til then, we’ll both just have to sit back and wait patiently.”
The call ends, and rather than feeling exasperated about having so many people just listening to him talking on the phone on live radio, Aizawa feels reinvigorated. Calling Hizashi’s radio show isn’t something he has any intentions of making a habit of, but hearing Hizashi’s voice again does wonders for his motivation and energy.
After that event, Aizawa calls two more times within the next few years: once because he knows Hizashi’s phone is dead and he can’t wait to tell him about the new cat he’s just adopted, and once because Hizashi begs him to after Aizawa had endured a rather violent beating during a villain encounter, and Hizashi had been worried about him going on patrol so soon after healing. Hizashi always tries to coax Aizawa into calling more often, telling him, “You’ll get to talk to your favorite radio host that much more often!” But in truth, Hizashi doesn’t mind the limited calls. It just makes the ones he receives all the more special
hmmms SO I napped a little today and while I was in and out I thought about a hizashi working with nedzu to catch the traitor and the plan included making mic a plausible person to frame! so basically going out of his way to get the rest of the staff to dislike or even hate him—Some aren’t hard, they aren’t good enough friends to really have anything built up. some are more difficult, people who are too kind to think poorly of others.
and then there’s shouta— and he knows this will hurt the most, but he needs everyone to dislike and doubt his intentions—and he knows all of his buttons, so there’s no one better for the job!
(And the thing is, shouta knows that there’s something going on, that the behavior is intentional. It stung the first few times, but when it kept happening it started to come clear that it was intentional— well, shouta starts to try to figure out why he’s doing it. He watches helplessly as hizashi becomes more isolated from his peers, shunned in places he would flourish. Even Nemuri is calling him annoying, lately)
(he’s horrified when snipe suggests he’s the traitor and he’s just getting antsy.)
(read more for discord discussion of the plot with some writing tidbits)
fish:  (Shouta stares helplessly from his desk as Nemuri steps and stands like a wall in front of Hizashi, blocking the door. He can see the way Hizashi responds, hands creeping up to rest on his hips and head cocked. He doesn’t need to see his face to know that there’s a sharp grin.
 “Mic,” Nemuri starts, Hizashi showing no obvious flinch at his hero name or the tone, “you need to either take a vacation or quit.” A moment of silence passes, enough to attract looks from the rest of the staff.
 Snipe looks pissed, his body set in a hard line. Ectoplasm’s mouth is set in a frown, eyes staring into Hizashi’s back. Even Toshinori is shuffling, rubbing his arm absently. Most are of the same.
 “And why’s that, Midnight?” Hizashi finally asks, issuing a challenge in his voice. Shouta can’t remember the last time he heard it and it didn’t sound sharp and so uncharacteristic for his friend.
“You’ve been upsetting the students—“
“Well, they haven’t been doing a good job, yeah? Can’t quit and leave them with no English teacher when they’re falling this far behind.” Hizashi interrupts, jabbing his finger into her space. That’s two of Nemuri’s biggest peeves, and her face darkens in an answer.
“They certainly don’t need a dick for a teacher, either.” She says, voice carefully in line. “In fact, it just so turns out that you’re not the only one who speaks English fluently on staff.” Hizashi makes a show of scoffing.
“Right, the teacher who gets his techniques out of a book. Don’t make me laugh, it’s not April Fools!” Hizashi barely wastes time to shoulder past Nemuri, leaving the room deadly silent. Toshinori is hanging his head down, eyes squeezed shut. Nemuri’s doing breathing exercises, rubbing at a temple.
Shouta has a sinking feeling.)
@balentay :  shouta watches quietly, uneasy and unsettled.  He catches Hizashi's unguarded moments when his shoulders slump and he seems down.  But then he catches himself and its back to his act
fish:  yes— and he doesn’t know how to approach hizashi without having the man pick through him cruelly, try and cut him away from his space
he would think that maybe found out about his feelings and was disgusted but he can’t, not when hizashi is being standoffish to everyone else as well
(Hizashi knows how to hit at every one of his insecurities. It takes his breath away when he’s called emotionless, punches him in the gut when he’s called a poor friend. yet shouta knows— this is not hizashi. It is him— shouta used his quirk once when his back was turned, fearing that he’d turn into a small, sharp-eyed girl or fall away into liquid across the floor, only to find that he remained just the same— but this is not who hizashi is. He’s just got to bare through it, find the common thread behind the sudden behavior.)
@balentay : so he watches.  he watches the man alienate the staff slowly but surely.  he watches as slowly but surely each face closes off and hardens whenever hizashi enters the room (he swaggers now, a cruel and confident smile curling his lips that sets Shouta's teeth on edge.  this is not Hizashi, he reminds himself.  he has to be doing this for a reason.  but what?).
how even thirteen, amiable , friendly thirteen eventually grows sick of him and leaves him alone.
he alienates the students too.  this is...  not okay, but shouta cant confront him without playing his hand or forcing hizashi's.  not when he doesnt have all the facts
fish:  (He doesn’t even realize that they weren’t communicating at all outside of UA, not even to share their patrol times with each other until two months into the charade. He recognizes the fear settling low in his stomach, a cold anticipation weighing him down.
It’s realized when a meeting at UA is called with specific instructions not to inform Hizashi in any way. When Snipe suggests that Hizashi is the traitor, he feels it in the way that he’s the only one ready to object. Even looking at Nemuri, she has a thinly veiled irritancy marking her face. When another teacher mentions that Hizashi is pushing for information he wouldn’t normally have, the room breaks out into murmurs— except for shouta, who is dead silent and afraid.
He thinks he understands now.)
@balentay : its hard to breath when he realizes what hizashis doing.  its like the weight of the world is crushing down on him all while the realization hangs suspended and crystal clear.
 (he still watches his friend for days afterwards, hoping against hope he's wrong.  that his friend isnt being stupidly, nobly self sacrificing.  but what other answer is there?
he approaches hizashi when he's absolutely certain, catching hizashi's car door when he swings it open to go home.  hizashi, who's been so absorbed in his own world, startles and stares at him with wide eyes for a moment before he recovers and arranges himself against him car so he can lounge and smirk.
 "eraser"  he practically purrs.  he lets his eyes roam up and down shouta's body in a way he knows his friend hates.  shouta feels his lips press together, but he refuses to rise to his friends' taunt.  "what can i do for you?"
"hizashi, we need to talk.")
(and hizashi?  is still too pathetically gone on his best friend to say no.  they get in his car and they drive off.  shouta doesnt let him take him home.  hizashi doesnt offer.
instead, they drive out of town and to the middle of nowhere.  where shouta can safely demand answers.
 that doesnt mean hizashi is expecting him to.  later, he'll wonder why hes so surprised shouta worked out what's going on or saw right through him)
fish:  (hizashi, who hates that he's hurting everyone in his immediate circle.)
 (who fears that even after his intentions are revealed after the true traitor is captured that his friends will never see him the same way again.)
("Shouta," Hizashi says, his voice a stuttering mess. The talk hadn't been pleasant, pushing Hizashi to the edge of tears. He's a people pleaser at heart, and to be hurting everyone and alienating anyone he cares for-- well, it's too much. "Shouta, you've got to treat me horribly, Shouta. It's the only way this will work." He's aware that he keeps repeating Shouta's name but-- he's got to get it out of his system, clinging to what little time he has to be himself.
"Hizashi, you don't need to do this--" Hizashi cuts him off with a jerking shake of his head, grounding his hands on Shouta's shoulders. He slumps, and breaths out.
"I've got to, Shou. I'm the best candidate. Nedzu will start a private investigation and find me guilty with planted evidence. I'll go to Tartarus.  It'll give you and Nedzu the time you need to catch the real traitor.")
(Shouta rapidly inhales. Hizashi, in Tartarus-- for crimes he didn't commit, to give everyone else an opportunity to catch the traitor getting cocky.  Shouta can feel a tremor in his own body, and while he's not on the cusp of tears like Hizashi, he wouldn't be surprised for his eyes to leak tears. He feels stupid for not realizing sooner what Hizashi's plan was. He feels like a failure for not catching on sooner, for not having a better alternative that doesn't leave his friend caged like an animal with some of the most notorious villains of their time.)
(Shouta is not okay.)
@balentay :  tbh the only way this could possibly be better is if the car scene ends in a confession and a kiss and then theyre both expected to just go about their lives pretending hizashi is the traitor and shouta hates him
fish: oh tru
@balentay :  ("hizashi.... i love you."  shouta says, pleads in a rare moment of desperation.  hizashi's eyes well up with tears and his face twists.
 "please don't do this to me shouta."  he begs.  the tears spill down his cheeks.  "not now")
fish:  (Recognition flickers in Shouta's heart and it hurts to find out his feelings are reciprocated now.
 "I need to tell you--"
 "No, you need to hate me, if you don't they may just kill you next time--"
 Recognition flickers in his mind and now? It makes crystal clear sense.)
ANYWAYS there u go i was told to post it and posting without the context seems weird so here u go, discord angst hell time,, i may write it but if anyone is Extra inspired feel free
On Account of Rain
One-shot gen fic that I did as part of a server swap! It was fun enough that I might be dipping my toes into requests so check it out and leave an ask if you’d like.
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/18738154
Tokoyami and Ashido like scary movies, in fact, they love them. Aliens or ghosts, slashers or existential angst, it doesn't matter as long as they get to feel the terror. When Bakugo reveals that he finds all scary movies foolish, they challenge him to prove it.
It goes about how you'd expect.
Training gets called early.
There are storm clouds rolling in, dark and full of fat drops that are just itching to drench our heroes-in-training. For a moment, the kids had worried that Aizawa-sensei would make them complete their outdoor combat training anyway, but he’d apparently bowed to Principal Nedzu’s campus closure at the last minute.
So now, they were racing the rain back to their dorms, ponchos and umbrellas popping out of Yaoyorozu’s body as they swerve and dip through campus. They make it back in a straggling heap, most avoiding being drenched too badly.
As outerwear and shoes are shucked off, Mina and Tokoyami continue their latest foray into the maddening darkness of new French horror cinema. Mina normally goes more for chest-bursting sci-fi flicks, but Tokoyami’s her gore buddy so she does her best to appreciate the moodier pieces that he gravitates towards.
Especially since it’s his week to pick the flick.
“It’s a brilliant bouquet of suffering and sorrow. A mirror for our twisted souls, as if the director clawed her way out from hell to deliver this warning.”
“Slasher Central says it’s the best ghost story since ‘The Cry.’ Half the people at the premier fled in terror before the credits rolled! They gave it five screams!”
“And now such darkness is in our grasp. And on such a fortuitous day.”
The thunder claps as if to emphasize Tokoyami’s declaration. It also draws the attention of Bakugo, who is shaking his head in disgust, though whether at the weather or the subject, it’s hard to tell.
“You guys are seriously going to waste your time on that kiddie stuff?”
Tokoyami and Mina share a quick glance. Kiddie stuff?
Mina’s the one to pipe up.
“Uh, it’s totally not for kids! We’re talking hard R, serious mind-tripping here. Rumor is, the director went mad!”
Turns out, 1-A’s resident firecracker is of the baffling opinion that most horror movies are for kids, since, “You’d have to be a real baby to let that lame stuff scare you.”
Mina takes the challenge while Tokoyami mutters something about the shadows of childhood and the evil fae.
“Ha, I bet you’ve just been on that weak stuff. No way you’d make it through ‘The Final Eye.’”
Bakugo rolls his eyes.
“Come on, give it a chance! You already said all your homework is done, and it’s not like you can go anywhere in this mess.”
He’s still not convinced, but he’s wavering. It would be nice to show them how stupid they’re being about this. Maybe then they’d stop doing Deku impressions with the constant movie muttering. Tokoyami sees his indecision, and in the interest of speeding things up, gives the persuasion a go.
“Bakugo, this is a forbidden realm. A true test of fortitude. Why, we’d be kicked out if we tried to watch it in theaters-”
“Wait, is this against the rules? Because I’m sure as hell not about to get in trouble again. Especially not to prove myself to you two.”
Mina bounces into a pair of slippers and makes for the stairs before turning round to face Blasty.
“Okays, well firstly: Rude! Second, no, it’s cool. Personal use is no problem! Really! Come on, it’ll be fun. And if it’s not, we’ll totally shut up about it in front of you!”
“Like I trust you…”
Bakugo looks around the emptying foyer. Kirishima, trying to teach Denki how to lift, Sato with some new recipe, Midoriya off in the corner with his little squad playing…
Jesus, it’s All Might-branded Monopoly. Limited edition, too.
Yeah, not a lot of appealing alternatives flying around.
“Ugh, fine. Whatever. Hurry up before I change my mind.”
Naturally, they end up in Tokoyami’s room. It’s really the only respectable choice when it comes to horror movie atmosphere-setting. The darkness, the random occult imagery, the purple miasma of what looks suspiciously like a lava lamp…
Bakugo smirks. He’s totally going to show them what it means to be fearless. --- Okay, so it’s not the worst movie he’s ever seen. And yeah, the dead little girls are pretty scary. He was sure it would be all lame makeup or discount CGI, but he hasn’t even seen them yet. They’re always just out of frame, giggling and whispering and playing games.
Yeah, maybe Tokoyami’s taste in movies doesn’t totally suck. Although he still doesn’t trust Mina to pick. Not after that comment about chest-bursters and killer clowns, or whatever she was droning on about last week in class.
Mina’s enjoying herself well enough, despite the more atmospheric offering. She’s not a total wimp, even if she is clutching that pillow awfully hard and ducking behind it every time the calliope starts to play through the tiny laptop speakers. For his part, Tokoyami maintains a stoicism that could almost rival Bakugo’s.
Unless you look at his hands and realize he’s white-knuckling the poor popcorn bowl. If it weren’t for the rolling barely-audible commentary on the metaphors and symbolism and general gothic fortune cookie-ness...he’d almost be a pleasant movie buddy.
It’s Dark Shadow who proves to be the biggest (and loudest) baby.
When barely lit twin hands reach through the slats on the stairs, it’s Dark Shadow who dives into the bowl of popcorn and makes it rain kernels. When the fog rolls in during the hypnotic forest chase, he’s the one who steals a blanket and cowers. Every flash of lightning has him squawking around like a poorly-behaved parakeet instead of a fierce quirk familiar.
Even when he’s not actively fearful, he’s anxious enough to nibble on Mina’s halo of pink hair.
Bakugo has no idea how Tokoyami lives with the damn thing, it seems exhausting.
Despite the chaos, Bakugo remains unfazed. All through the movies, he stays stubbornly indifferent to the scoring and jump scares that are wreaking havoc on his companions’ nerves. He rolls his eyes at the lore building and softly “tschk” whenever a new twist is revealed. Still, that doesn’t mean he’s totally unaffected, and the longer the film runs, the more quietly invested he becomes.
Not that he’s scared. Only babies get scared.
The movie ends, and Bakugo gets all of thirty seconds satisfaction before some stupid thunder ruins it all. It’s just a misunderstanding. Nothing even to do with the movie, of course.
It just so happens that right at the end, when the door slams shut, at that exact moment…
There’s a massive spike of lightning that turns the whole room violet-white, and a near-instant clap of thunder that he feels in his bones. He doesn’t jump...but maybe he levitates a little. Maybe his palms crackle to life on reflex for just a second as his eyes re-adjust to the blackened room.
Mina bursts out laughing.
“Shut up! It was...I was….I was worried! About my electronics! A power surge could have hit.”
“Yeahhhh, okay. Sureeeeeeee.”
“We have tempted the Gods with our hubris, and now they call down their mocking wrath upon us.”
Bakugo clambers to his feet, arms clasped defensively across his chest, fingers and palms flexing with adrenaline that totally doesn’t have anything to do with the stupid movie or the stupid ghost girls or the stupid lurking dark.
“Whatever. I can’t believe you two let this little fairy tale scare you. Next week it’s my turn, and I’ll pick out something truly terrifying. Well, terrifying for you guys, at least.”
Aww, Bakugo just made a play date! And all it took was bribery, rare movies, a rain day, some wounded pride, and a bet.
That night, Bakugo falls asleep with his lights on. Not because he’s scared! He just...forgot to flick the switch, is all.
Yeah, totally.
