So I've been reading your Steve story and I finished the latest chapter and I read your little authors note and you know what, why shouldn't you make it a Bucky x Reader story? Steve left bc he wanted to find his happy ever after so why shouldn't Bucky and Reader find comfort in each other? If you find that your writing is leading them into a romantic path, I say let it happen. They both deserve to be happy after all the bullshit they've gone through.
