Tails cannot carry Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, right? But he can however in the next games (Sonic 3&K). I know it’s just a new game mechanic BUT!
Tails helps Sonic in any way he can. He gathers rings, he destroys badniks, he hits Eggman as he follows Sonic, watching and learning from him. He learns how to spindash just by looking at him. But the real reason behind why he doesnt help him by carrying him is that Tails doesn’t know Sonic well enough, not yet. He doesn’t trust him fully just like he doesn’t trust himself and his skills. Heck, he just learned he can use his tails to fly (thanks to Sonic), he’s not sure what else he can do with them. Maybe losing all those rings in the special stages has messed up with his already low conifdence as well.
But throughout the game, as he follows Sonic who does not give up on him, no matter if he messes up, Tails trusts him more and learns to trust himself as well. Sonic is the first one who trusted him to be by his side and that of course, impacts Tails. By the end of their first adventure together they know each other quite well, each other’s strengths and weaknesses as well as their own and so, when their new advenutre begins, one where they have to fight a new rival beside Eggman, they know they have to put faith in themselves and each other. So, Tails helps Sonic in a much more coordinated way, now able to carry him around while flying, even if it’s for a little while.
That ability evolves, as their trust and bond grows stronger, so much so that he basically saves Sonic from falling to his death and puts him back on track if he cannot help him in any other way (Sonic Colors Ultimate).

i don't think anyone's asked what you wanted in a long time.
what big teeth. @tahitiwoke
he's hanging back, his hand having vanished from her upper arm after he'd led her through the door of the hotel room, letting her move further in as he stays behind, murmuring a few short sentences to edward and another agent whose name she has not quite learned. matthew, she thinks. nicholas, maybe. there's an impressive tension in the hold of her shoulders, her spine somehow more unyieldingly straight than typical for her. someone argues, she hears the undercurrent of phillip's tone begin to grow steadily less patient, and puts an end to it herself. ❝ it's fine, edward. please . . . close the door. ❞
she glances back long enough to meet his gaze, a short nod offered, and she watches as his attention drops toward the dripping red stain crawling down over the white satin of her blouse, his throat flexing as he swallows. she does not have to wonder where his mind has gone.
claire turns, and a moment later she hears the door click. her steps are muffled as she walks until she meets the tile of the bathroom and flips on the light, heels resounding as she comes to halt before the sink, unfolding a swan - shaped towel, a subtle frown coming to her lips as she does. she stares, for a long moment, at where her fingertips have left a dark smear upon grazing the counter.
it's paint. confirmed to the resounding relief of her detail, of course, which she found to be a touch condescending, in all honesty. she'd seen his face, the man who had thrown the balloon. ( a balloon. she nearly laughs. ) it was more than disgust that she'd seen in his expression. it went far deeper than that. war mongering whore. claire tries not to let it rattle her. the tremble in her hand as she turns on the faucett reveals her efforts to be futile.
"what do you want me to do?" her gaze lifts from where it had been caught, watching the water run pink with a slight skew of focus, enough that the sight was blurred, and she has to blink before finding his eyes in the mirror. he's standing like a statue in the doorway behind her, looking for all the world like some animatronic ready to be set to motion with a word. her word. she can't help herself, then, a little breath of laughter comes in response, she shakes her head. under her clothes, her skin prickles, growing uncomfortably warm. ❝ what do i want? ❞
"yeah. i don't think anyone's asked what you wanted in a long time." she holds his gaze for the space of a breath or so, and then looks down, turning off the water and leaning on her knuckles against the edge of the counter, the towel still balled in the right.
❝ you're wrong. ❞ she's not so unyielding now. her spine, not so straight. there's a very sudden and unshakeable sensation of exhaustion that seems to rise and roll over her in a tangible wave, and she succumbs to it slowly. haltingly, as though she has forgotten how to. ❝ people ask me what i want all the time, phil. in fact . . . it's constant. what do you want. what can i do for you. how can i help. what do you need. ❞ she pushes away from the counter, and paces toward the tub, sitting on the edge and bending forward, her elbows resting on her knees, wringing the cloth in her hands, one clean, one still stained red. it seems an apt representation of herself, and she laughs softly again. this time, it wavers at the end.
❝ i don't know. i just . . . hm. ❞ she swallows, her head shaking once more as she stares down at her hands, closing with the ruined towel between them to hide the red from her sight. ❝ i just . . . want someone else to decide. just once. ❞

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space* at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.
*yes sorry i mean usage i posted this before bed :( i do not mean the hard drive is full aaaaghhhh
