The origins of the Forgotten Ark

Lore post! Using the murals on the Ark to interpret how the Forgotten Ark (and it’s magic) came to be. I will be using screenshots taken in order of going around the boat so you can all see too if you don’t want to go through the effort of actually going there in-game to look at it.

So first off, screenshots!

I’m going to presume this is the first one and say that this is a krill and some clouds! Totally not an obvious observation, but if this is the first mural, the implication that krill may have existed for much longer than the Kingdom’s corruption is definitely an interesting one.

Next up, a storm. There are also a few murals after this that depict light creatures and stars appearing from that storm, but I didn’t take pictures of them.

A bit hard to tell in this pic, but it basically depicts stars falling down and the people collecting them and turning them into spells.

People learning to use said spells and magic to do things, including create fire apparently!

So, those are the screenshots I’ve taken, and now I will share my interpretation of them!

I already talked a bit about the Ark in my super-long lore post, but I wanted to go into more detail here.

I know I said this already, but I do find it interesting that krill seemingly existed before anything else did, presuming that this is the origin story of the spellcasting community.

I also find the storm that appears to produce the light creatures and the stars very poetic, because it is also the thing that ends the lives of the people on the boat.

Now, the people. It seems that they are at first hiding under umbrellas, probably to protect themselves from falling stars. And did the original spell stars come from an aurora borealis? It’s also a bit odd that falling stars seem to produce both sentient children and things such as spells. Makes you wonder how much these two things are related.

The next image, they are taking those stars from the ground and transforming them into spells. I argue that this can be compared to humanity’s discovery of fire and how useful of a tool it could be. I also find it interesting that in the first image with the Skyfolk, none of them have those little crests on their heads. By the image where they are discovering spellcasting, a few of them actually do have the little head-crests.

And to add to the “Skyfolk’s discovery of spellcasting versus humanity’s discovery of fire” thing, the next image prominently features a campfire that has presumably been produced by a spell. It also seems to contain people practicing using the spells.

The next image is probably a long timeskip later, but it shows a group of people (and now ALL of them have headcrests) on a boat, carrying spells to some distant place. I could not guess for the life of me why they were moving, but they seemed to act as a close-knit community.

And finally, a storm comes and knocks the ship over, scattering the people inside and presumably killing many if not all of them.

So, two things. First, the headcrests. The more adept the spellcasting community seems to be at magic, the more of them are depicted with those little crests. Many of the people in Vault have those crests, including the Levitating Adept, whose whole thing is making objects float; and the Meditating Monastic, who can levitate in the air. My conclusion? Those little headcrests are symbols of magical prowess, and people who have them have a fair bit of skill and experience in some form of magic.

The second thing is those smaller boats that are depicted in the mural alongside the bigger one. When I initially saw the bigger boat flipped over with none of the smaller boats in sight, my reaction was “oh hey! Maybe they made it away to spread their influence elsewhere!” But then I went back to check and NOPE. There are definitely smaller boat ruins around the Forgotten Ark, and also this really big anchor.

Look at this cool anchor I found.

Anyways, using this anchor as proof that the whole area was a body of water (maybe a body of clouds?) when all the boats sank. But clearly someone must have survived them, they seem to have been spruced up post-crash to make it viable for use as a storefront.

Anyway, that was my ramble about the Forgotten Ark, I spent too much time putting this together 😅

lestappen 2022 moments ~

I wrote this as a reblog to a different post when I saw people saying they barely interacted up until half of 2023. I wanted to share it as its own thing since it really confused me, I actually changed ships in 2022 bc lestappen were all over each other and I fell in love with them.

I'm gonna link some 2022 content so everyone can cheer up together abt the saudi gp podium weirdness, and make heart eyes at their cuteness.

This is just a short compilation of a long year fueled by lestappen that I hope ppl enjoy to learn about or revisit. That year they had 8 podiums together, that's 8 cool down rooms podcasts. And 14 qualis shared, plus 14 post-quali press conferences and waist-hugs. Countless sightings of them out and about with their personal debriefing after qualis and races. It sure was kinda awkward at first, they both seemed to wanna make small talk before getting the hang of their dynamic. But they were battling each other A LOT during this season and having so much fun racing together!

butlerfamupdates I actually applaud People Magazine for this. All day magazine’s have posted Austin’s cutest moments with Luci and talked about what a wonderful Dad he is - which no one would ever doubt to think he is - but Luci’s mom is very much present as well and deserves love too. Luci loves both her parents. It’s normal for a kid to have favorites, it doesn’t make the other parent ‘bad.’

Good afternoon! I really like your art, especially with Nikolai. I don't often see any content on it, and that's why it's very nice to see. Can I ask you how you draw hair and other items of clothing? It's just that in the future I also want to practice drawing to draw my favorite characters. 🌹

Hi there thank you! :D

Uhhh I tried my best to compile my way of drawing things, take this as a reference because I'm not a professional by any means and a lot of things I do are very much simplified and dialled down to fit my chibi style :3 but I'm flattered that you ask me, I like sharing my process sometimes!

alright first off with hair, we'll take Nik for example. For me I usually try to make sure the hair flows from the same origin (refer the red arrow on chibi Nik), this will make sure the hair looks consistent and neat. For me I usually like to add more volume and floff to hair to make it cuter (exaggerated feature), so I do that by making the hair thicker or more curly. What really brings the hair together imo is the side burn, all the cod characters have it so study how they look like (like how Price's one will be connected to his beard, while Nik's end in a neat line). Lastly, look at the characters and ask yourself what are their prominent features? Like for Soap, it's his mohawk. For Nik? It'll be his high widow's peak and the neat slick back look. If it is hard to draw it yourself, trace over the reference photo to get an idea, then draw it yourself again on the side, it'll allow your hand to recognize the shape and flow better.

Hair can be individualized according to your own artstyle, for example @/nekrosmos (hi hehe) draw Nik's end of the hair curling inwards (link of the example). Studying other artist's way of drawing characters can help ease the process of finding your own, if ya wanna look at Nik fanart I highly recommend @/shkretart's page (example used is from here) (also would recommend their post about how they draw heads here, because from there you can see how they plot down the shape of the hair as well)

also! something I like to do is showing the character's emotions through hair as well :3

see how the Price in lower opacity has his hair jagged because he's horrified by the taste of shamrock + my OC dishevelled hair because she's cranky/angry

uhhh when it comes to clothes I don't really have much advice because I....don't draw a lot of variety of clothings XD

I think most importantly if you can get the torso shape correctly the clothings wouldn't be much of an issue since ya can just follow references (see 2nd photo with the square + inverted triangle method, reference used: valiants, pignk). Like the hair, I just take the what I think are prominent features of an outfit then remove the gear (see Ghost below for example).

I think the only thing I can comment on are creases?? even so I'm still a newbie at this but yeah again, tracing over images to study them is what I do most of the time, especially when I'm doing a non-chibi art. Whenever I feel like the sleeves looks weird, I try to find a similar pose, draw over the crease, see what went wrong then implement it on my own art. I think what really changed my mind was it's not just about the lines of the clothes inside, you should take account of the creases that creates the fold on the outline. You can watch this video by emiliodekureart if you want a more detail explanation! (I follow a lot of their tutorials cuz it's simplified and easy to understand and follow :3) (another ref is Morpho Clothing folds and creases if you wanna learn in depth)

Okay, say you got the torso, shape and creases down, what's next? Textures! the way you add details or color a clothing can make small but noticeable differences. Here's how I approach a clothing using my commission works as examples below.

Similar to hair, first I see what's the most obvious feature of the reference photo which are the pattern lines and patterns. Usually with wool or animal fur or any material that's fuzzy I like to add the " lines to my doodles.

For this example we're looking at suits, so the materials are usually harder that's why the edges of the clothes will be sharper (see Ghost's shoulder ends and elbows). Add in details like lines/patterns to show different materials. Sometimes you can overlay the shades with textures, which all can be found online to add that feel to it, yk? (like Soap's pants and this hat)

Lastly, you can always change the way you want to draw based on the references, you don't have to follow it 100%, scroll through sites to find one you like and tweak it!

CRASH !

The rain crashed from outside. This storm has been going on since the start of SMG4’s day, which was pretty normal for this week if you ask the him yourself. The castle has been experiencing thunder storms since saturday night and it hasn't stopped since. Normally SMG4 would call it a day and invite the crew over to hangout, but today was different. All the other crew members were busy with something,what was you ask? Well.. Meggy and Mario were having a Splatoon tournament at her house, with Luigi as chaperone; Saiko, Tari , and Boopkins were at Tari’s house doing whatever they could to keep the front porch from flooding; and Bob.. Was being Bob..

SMG4 sighed as he looked out the window of his room, he hated it here. Being alone wasn't really something he enjoyed, so to speak. But hey, who wouldn't feel bored when they were alone in a thunderstorm?

The door suddenly sounded. SMG4 jerked upright, and turned abruptly to his door. He narrowed his eyes to his doorway, grabbing a pen from his desk. No way was this simple writing material going to protect him from whatever was behind that door, but it was the closest thing to him at the moment. He slowly approached the door of his room, pen in hand.

CREAK…

He glanced out the door, seeing a figure, that looked oddly enough familiar, standing there. And before the mysterious person could even say a word, SMG4 threw his pen at them.

���OW! WHAT THE FUCK, 4!”

Yelled the figure from the other side of the door, the voice familiar to SMG4. SMG4 looked out the door to see..

SMG3? He looked tired, looking like he just poured his eyes out.. And also very mad as he covered his eye.

“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR, YOU IDIOT?”

He yelled. He looked at SMG4 in complete disbelief, finally removing his hand from his eye. He was angry, obviously.

“OH GODBOX, SORRY 3! I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS YOU!”

SMG4 apologized. He bent down to pick up the pen that had dropped to the floor, and looked up at SMG3.

“Jeez… Again I'm sorry 3.. But uhm.. What are you doing here anyway?”

He asked, the look on his face expressing a mountain of confusion. SMG3 looked away at that, he seemed saddened.

“Look, I wouldn't be asking this if it wasn't urgent, but… Eggdog’s missing..”

He looked at SMG4 again, distressed. SMG4’s eyes slightly widened at the revelation, he felt bad for SMG3, of course, but why did he go to him? Of all people, why him?

“Ok… But why me? You could obviously go to the police or ask someone else. Why me?”

He asked, before a boulder of realization hit him on how selfish he sounded.

“It's not like I don't wanna help or anything! Just.. Wanted to ask.”

He quickly added, hoping the other male wouldn't beat his ass. SMG3 looked at him and sighed.

“You… Were the closest person here.. And I didn't wanna wait for the police. IT'S NOT LIKE I ONLY WENT TO YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE MY FIRST THOUGHT OR ANYTHING..”

He rambled. SMG4 chuckled softly before standing up and putting his hand on SMG3’s shoulder.

“Don't worry dude. I'll help you find him.”

He said reassuring the other male for his pet's safety.

RE: Sims 2 Offspring Facial Distortion

Really surprised that this isn't talked about that much. There's only a couple of sources I found talking about it. (Links - 1 2 3) But, basically what Offspring Facial Distortion does is that your sims' offspring in TS2 won't inherit the EXACT features from the parent Sims. There will be some distortion to the facial structure (i.e. for female sims - longer chin, more upper eyelid, etc.) Apparently, this isn't a problem with the templates, it's hardcoded in the game itself, so sadly no fixes.

For the rest of the post, I will refer to this as OFD in short. And, as a former Sims 4 player (last played 3 years ago), this isn't just a Sims 2 problem, in TS4, offsprings will have recessed chins. (Link to reddit posts talking about it - 1 2) Both TS2 and TS4 have this as part of the code of their respective games, so as you have offsprings in both games, their faces will have some form of distortion, even if you try to fix it. Not sure if there's also OFD in the Sims 3.

For the default face templates I've made and how OFD affects it, It's really different for Male vs Female Sims, which really goes to show that it's a game/coding problem since I made my male and female face templates look as close as possible. So, for my male sims, it's ignorable, but for female sims: 1) chin and jaw get lower and 2) upper eyelid gets higher. Solution to that is plastic surgery, w/ all the custom sliders I have installed, I found that 3-4 ticks to lift chin up, also 3-4 to make jaw smaller, and then 3-4 ticks to lower upper eyelid does the trick to make my sims look like their parents. Here's the OFD in action (all ages - original face vs offspring face) I used the same face template for the parents to show the differences between the original and the offspring.

NGL, the teens kinda look better with the distortion lol, but for my adult female sims, the chin gets soooo longggg, and the eyelid too, like whaatttt.

Also, I know in the GIF, the original faces look like they have weak chins, but they don't it's just a CAS thing. It looks normal in bodyshop and in game.

IDK how it is for others, but for my game, OFD is still in action even if the parents don't have the same face template. The offsprings will still have the changes in the GIF above applied to them.

So, at the end of the day, since there's no fix to this, what I'll be doing personally is just giving my Sims plastic surgery with Gussy up.

It might seem DRASTIC in CAS, but trust, in-game, it's not that drastic at all, maybe because the gameplay is good lol. It's only drastic if the offspring inherits a weak jaw from the parent sim/s, because since the offspring will inevitably have a long chin, the weak jaw is gonna make the long chin more apparent.

My advice is that if you notice it, then just give your sims plastic surgery. But, if you don't notice it, even if you know that it's a mechanic in the game, why bother doing it every time.

Maybe that's why it's not that talked about that much, maybe it's just that nobody cares about it like that.

That's about it though, kinda sucks but what are you gonna do. 🤷

Note: I'm not using the Sims 2 Steam version released this year by EA so IDK if they've got this issue fixed there.

A: That's not a very accurate description, Izutsumi is a beastkin who was created using ancient magic by fusing the soul of a 6 year old child with the soul of a cat monster known as a greater cat. She's not "A cat that was turned into a human" nor a "human that was turned into a cat" as my understanding goes she was both and now she's still both, spoilers but the plot twist of the Lycion extra is that she can never be fully human again (there's more monster than human so she can't transform between the forms like Lycion)

A: Probably has something to do with the complexity of the familiar and the strength of the connection, lots of people sent some theories pleas check the familiars tag if you wanna read up.

A: Those are Magic Tattoos, they work as a supplement for magic, I assume similar to magic circles or magic runes they use in other places in the anime, they aren't necessarily only for beastmen

Ok so I'm usually certain of my claims when I accuse people of being scammers, but there are a few times I'm not 100% sure if I'm right

This is one of those times

So, like those other times I was unsure about an OP, I'll share what I found that caused me to doubt their validity, and I'll leave it to you to decide for yourself if you still feel confortable enough to support them. And if I’m wrong about this one, please let me know and I’ll take this down.

It started when I saw this in my inbox:

I received this ask today, which triggered my suspicions for reasons I’m not entirely sure how to pinpoint; after receiving dozens of daily messages from real Palestinians over the past week or so, this ask just didn’t feel… genuine? Ig? Idk how to explain it, but when you get messages from both real people and scammers alike, tend to notice when something isn’t right.

But like many people who tend to share scams without knowing they’re scams, I don’t like the idea of ignoring a cry for help in the event that it turns out to be real, so I did what I usually do when I’m unsure if an ask is real or not: I looked into the OP

In this case, I used reverse image search to see if OP’s pfp could be found anywhere, and lo and behold, the pfp led me to another tumblr post, where that person received an ask very similar to the one I got, from “pleasantcollectionlove”, and they couldn’t tell if they ask was a scam or not. In the notes of said post, someone else confirmed that the person who sent the ask was, indeed, a scammer, and they used the same pfp that OP is currently using

So, that would mean these two scammers are one and the same, right?

Well, normally it would (scammers tend to stick to one pfp; not always, but man, have I gotten familiar with certain selfies over the past few months), but I didn’t wanna rely on that alone, so I kept looking. While looking for exact matches for the pfp through RIS, I also found a Twitter account with the same pfp; this person is also asking for money, though the reasoning for the money is notably different that what OP provides in their own posts:

It should also be noted that the Twitter account has been around since last August, while OP has only been posting on this blog since September

Does this mean that OP stole the pfp from the Twitter account of someone who honestly needs help? Are OP and the Twitter user the same person? I honestly don’t know, which is why I said at the top of this post that I’m uncertain about this one

However, what I am certain about is a common red flag I recognized that hasn’t proved me wrong yet: the link in OP’s linktree (in their pinned post) leads to an empty PayPal account. If you’ve seen/been tagged in any of my previous call out posts, you know that empty PayPal accounts are ALWAYS included in online scams like this. In this case, the PayPal belongs to “Luciamkira”; this could be OP’s name (or at least the name they actually use for their personal PayPal), but then who’s “Aska”?

This might very well be a scam, which I believe is the case, but whether or not you decide to donate or share the post on the chance it might be real is up to you

If you’ve seen any of my previous posts, you know what I’m going to say next: Never trust a donation post linked to an empty PayPal account unless said link has been verified by a trusted source

Alright so first of all, the avatar and header images.

The idea I like the most is switching between pictures each week or month or something like that. On this blog you guys could send in your submissions, and I'd make polls and we can vote. I'll reblog all the posts from here in general so that they're in community, of course. The winner would be credited through an edit to info about the community

I know what one of the more common comments will be, so let me address it already: I don't think it's a good idea to use the iconic tnt duo kissing image. It is my understanding that the original artist has gotten harassed over it in the past, and you can't find it anymore on their Instagram (last time I checked at least). Furthermore, it is someone else's art, so to be able to use it in an official tntblr community I would need the artist's permission, and I just think that it could reinforce that that's something which keeps following them. I don't wanna bring up some shitty memories, so I'm personally against using it in such a public, "official" setting.

Second of all, I will be compiling a proper list of "rules" of the community, and once this poll is done I'll put it up as the official pinned post.

A long over-due ask compilation (Art & Music)

It's vaguely based on a short story from the book "The Consumer" by Michael Gira, specifically "The Boss". I think it came up in conversation with a friend or something when I was picking a new username, so that's how we arrived at it - this was almost a decade ago so, my memory on it is a little hazy!

I BELIEVE this little guide I put together over here might be helpful to you, also! I touched on pretty much everything you brought up.

As for reference material when it comes to facial expressions, I have a mirror next to my desk which I glance at often and make weird faces at LOL and for consistency, it's really a matter of learning to dissect and remember facial structure. It's just something you end up developing an eye for when you've done it for long enough! Naturally, if we're talking about drawing existing characters, it's always helpful to just look at some pictures of their mugs and take a minute to define what features about them make their faces recognizable - I touch on this at the link above as well!

I do plan on making a "drowstarion" (love that, by the way LOL) playlist eventually, life's just been kicking my ass and I hardly have the time 😭and when I do, I just wanna draw.

Otherwise I don't have any other playlists floating around at the moment, BUT the one my boyfriend made for his Vellioth comic can be found here, and it might scratch a similar itch!

Thank you! I believe this was in reference to this post. Something like that takes me about... An hour??? If we're talking just the colors, at least. Though that's a really rough estimate because I take a lot of breaks, so my sense of time when I work ends up pretty skewed. Even if the application of the colors themselves took less than 20 minutes I probably spent 2 hours just staring at it LOL.

My friend, I have no idea. I'm in a constant battle between "I want to draw more realistically" and "I want to simplify my art so I can draw more/faster". What you see is the result of that ongoing brain-tug-of-war.

Also, just the way I assume everyone else develops theirs - they see stuff they like and emulate it until their art is Frankensteinish enough to be it's own unique thing!

I'm far from a Type O Negative buff, BUT I'm happy to share some of my favorites with you! They're quite scattered across a couple of their albums so I'm not sure I have a favorite, but I would say October Rust is a good starting point.

Alas, I was one of those people who was already drawing in kindergarten 😅 though I would say I only started taking it seriously when I was around 15-16 years old. As someone who has tried their hand at several other hobbies since reaching adulthood, I get what you're saying that it can kinda feel like... You missed the wagon? I've felt that way about all kind of things lol

That said, I've seen adults managing to develop their art skills extremely fast and effectively before. Understanding where and how you need to improve, and how to follow lessons/guides best is something that is vastly improved by maturity and knowing how to best hone your time, attention, and resources - and those are skills we completely lack as children. So, I sincerely believe that as long as you commit yourself, you can definitely get to a point that you're happy with in a couple of years if not less.

JUST DO IT BUDDY we are all just people looking through a screen and you won't ever see, talk, or meet 99% of the folks who ever clap eyes on what you post. Whenever you start getting nervous about sharing something, take a minute to ask yourself why you're nervous, and if none of the reasons have any genuine substance besides being afraid of what people "might think", just go ahead and post it. You're no mind-reader after all, and if you are, I doubt you can hear what a guy from Argentina or wherever is thinking about the art you made.

Point is, nobody online can touch you 🤷and if someone doesn't like what you do, they can simply choose to not interact with it, and if they do you can block and move on. There are zero reasons for you to feel "bad" about putting up a doodle when our experiences on the web are so easily curated nowadays.
