Alright, I do not like moping for long time when physical ailment strikes, so today I:

went and got a brace to keep my thumb still when I'm not using it

looked up a couple extra stretches for my wrist

set a timer on everything I did to be no longer than an hour

finally applied that "drawing from the shoulder" thing my professors try to hammer in

And, as of right now, I feel much better than I did 24 hours ago :D it's definitely still hurting a little, but I don't think I'm gonna have to take more than the recommended amount of ibuprofen and drown my hand in ice just to go to sleep now haha. I'm still very mad this even happened >:( buut freaking out about it last night made me extra proactive about it today, so all is well (relatively)

I was able to work on that project today, I'm very excited to show it off so here's a progress picture :3. I'm only just now realizing I made the left eyebrow/hand shorter than the right lol. Ran out of time for the feathers on the coat, but I think it's in a good spot right now. I only had the face drawn when I picked it back up today, so I made a decent amount of progress. I can't make any clean lines right now (see above), so this is really still just a draft. Hopefully I'll get it done by Monday night!

Last thing; I learned that clip studio can actually record time lapses for you, and doing it this way didn't freak out my computer, so voila (flashing lights cw, I flashbang myself a lot by accidentally removing the background):

imagine being academic rivals with patrick, you both have some type of work to do but you both need some answers, and you both have some pent up frustration and tension, so you make it a sort of game so whoever makes the other cum gets the answers....

That Wingless Wing AU, I’m guessing that it’s probably like a 25-75 of whether people have wings or not? Because otherwise Jack and Janet wouldn’t hate the idea of wings, because they’d be normal, expected.

Anyway, what would the wings look like? Would they be regular bird wings? Angel wings? Bat wings? Dragon or devil wings? Any and all combinations? What do you think everyone’s wings would look like, and is there any meaning behind them?

Also, if the Joker removed Tim’s wings, I can only guess that it would leave a NASTY couple of scars. It would be easy enough to hide them… at least until Tim gets injured. How do the Batfam react when they realize what happened?

Finally, you specifically used the word “hybrid” to refer to winged people. Does that mean they have other instincts/characteristics, and are there other types of hybrids?

I didn't think about specifics for winged/hybrid population distribution, but it would be on the lower side. Less than 50%, but you could play the Drakes' attitude as a common sentiment of rich folk (something about dehumanization, lack of rights, history, increased prevalence of hybrids, etc).

In Gotham, the social attitude about hybrids is better. The Waynes are famous for their wings, after all, and Martha Wayne had gorgeous wing decorations/jewelry.

As far as wing type, it depends on how far you want the AU to go. For this one specifically, it's simpler for there to only be winged hybrids. This still opens the AU for tons of exploration on the types of wings each person has (although, I'm curious if Penguin is a hybrid and how that works).

Overall, their instincts/needs/behaviors are similar. There may be some small distinctions (like wing type care or personality), but they all desire connection, a nest (both in a metaphorical "home" sense and a physical cuddling space), helping their loves ones, preening, and calls/coos/vocal stuff (not all of them are birds). Add more if you'd like!

Dick's wings are colorful. He's also more vocal and cuddly. He's often cooing and being physically affectionate with others (such as rubbing his face against someone else like some birds do).

Jason's were white. Because of his inability to take care of them, they were grey/dirty and wilted at first. If you want to hc the Lazarus Pits gave him his wings back, then they came back black (like a crow or raven).

Oof.... So I know I said Joker saw Tim as a bird with his wings... But I really love the idea of Tim having dragon wings. They had holes and were shriveled due to his constant disuse and the amulet. The wings he makes for Robin are mechanical bird ones, but he does miss his own wings.

Cass isn't a hybrid, but she does understand the others' instincts. She gets eerily good at mimicking different calls and will be first to drag someone into the nest.

Steph has gorgeous bird wings that are one vibrant color. Purple sounds like a cop out, so maybe a midnight blue or deep pastel yellow.

Damian and all of the al Ghuls have bat wings. Bruce, on the other hand, has red wings that he uses black temp die for patrols.

Jim Gordon doesn't have wings. He would not have made it to Commissioner if he did (anti-hybrid sentiment has gotten better, but not enough). I can't decide if Barbara should have wings or not. Either way, she can't use them when she becomes paralyzed :(

Duke's wings are either orange or yellow with cool black highlights and patterns to them ^^

Alfred is not a hybrid, but he was in a thruple with Martha and Thomas Wayne. He helped them with their preening and helped Bruce (and later all the batkids) as well

I could give all of them specific meanings behind their wings/what animal they are closest to, but not now. Instead! Let's get into Tim's scars.

The Joker was not kind nor careful about the removal. The pain and gore were as much the point as the removal themselves. Tim still wakes up choking on his breath over the feeling of his wings being removed. The physical pain, emotional, and hybrid instinct hell were brutal for the kid.

The scars were gnarly, but his parents paid for treatments to lessen how much they etched into Tim's skin. By the end, they were a bit thinner and paler. They were still very visible but not as painful to look at.

For humor and angst sake, let's say the batfam learns about Tim's missing spleen. He shows off the scar and shrugs.

The others are having a reasonable breakdown over Tim losing his spleen when one of them asks, "Have you lost any more body parts?"

Tim pauses too long.

Rise of Red Power Rangers AU

i'm known for being a huge power rangers fan around my friends/coworkers so ofc i'm doing a power rangers au for any fandom i'm apart of.

Let's go with a Knights of the Round Table theme except we can call it Knights of Auradon

This is gonna be SPD inspired origin (but I'm borrowing other elements from other series)

Chloe expected to be lead ranger (even though her whole color palette is blue) bc she'd be a legacy ranger from her parents being the previous power rangers.

Queen Cinderella and King Charming are separate from Ella and Charming. Cinderella -> Cindy (former blue ranger) and King Charming -> Reginald Charming (former red ranger)

Red and Bridget are from the enemy camp of the Queen of Hearts and get the chance to escape with the help of the Sorcerer's Cookbook that they stole from the Queen of Hearts. However, during their escape, the Cookbook gets damaged, scattering all of its pages all throughout Auradon.

Chloe, Charming, and Ella have all been rangers in training and are finally allowed to see if they are worthy of their morphers.

Their morphers are Swords-in-a-Stone (kind of like Lost Galaxy), but they don't know their colors until they morph.

Luckily, all 3 are deemed worthy of their swords and are immediately sent into the field to capture intruders from Wonderland which are Red and Bridget.

When they morph for the first time, Chloe is shocked she's blue ranger but they still manage to apprehend Red and Bridget and bring them back to base.

Base is at Cinderellasburg estate in Auradon

Chloe's parents (and Charming's aunt/uncle) are the mentors of the group.

Cindy goes to talk to Red and Bridget about the Queen of Hearts, revealing they used to share a past and tries to convince them to help Auradon since they put up quite a fight with the rangers in training.

Bridget immediately takes her up on the offer, becoming the Pink ranger.

Red initially declines the offer since the Queen of Hearts is her mom and she doesn't want anything to do with her, much less fight her.

Meanwhile, Chloe goes to her dad, asking why he thinks she didn't get red ranger. King Reginald tells her that he suspects that her views on the world are too black and white and that she doesn't always see the full picture before rushing into the field with her sword.

Chloe, Ella, Charming, and Bridget are sent out in the field when the Queen sends out a monster from wonderland accompanied by tons of card soldiers and the Ace the Royal Guard.

Back at base, Red is walking around the grounds of the Cinderellasburg estate and comes across some of the background tech team composed of Faye and Zellie who somehow convince her that joining the team is what Red wants in order to prevent other people from getting hurt by her mother.

Red joins the team mid-fight when it seems like they're losing to both the monster and Ace. It is revealed that Ace and Red were really close friends in Wonderland but Ace saw Red's running away as a betrayal. Red morphs into the red ranger and reveals that all the duels the two had in the past, she let him win for his own pride.

After injuring Ace and destroying the Monster of the Week, the team celebrates, but Chloe still holds a grudge against Red being team leader.

It doesn't help when Red is in charge of training drills and puts the team through hell. She ends up getting a lesson in leadership and does all the drills herself later on.

Uliana, Hook, and Morgie are either part of the comedic relief where they're always up to something and always end up needing rescuing OR they're part of the Queen of Hearts Royal Council and become some of the villains for the rangers to defeat closer to the finale.

The main motivation for the Queen of Hearts to attack Auradon and the rangers is to get back scattered remains of the Sorcerer's Cookbook.

Chad has a guest role and serves as the temporary Silver ranger

When not in use, the team uses some magical bracelets to summon their sword morphers which are stored on the magical stone.

Their morph call would be like Mystic Force where they point their swords to the sky and say something like "For the Honor of the Kingdom!" (she-ra inspired, sue me)

Throughout their run, Red and Chloe constantly butt heads with Red going for more unconventional means while Chloe wants to follow the rules. Most of the time, they end up having to compromise. Also, they're roommates

While Bridget and Ella are also opposite personalities, they end up hitting it off fairly well.

Charming is getting into some hijinks and Bridget senses the tension between him and Ella (who often scolds him) and is often trying to do matchmaking between the two or causing ruckus in the kitchen.

Ella and Chloe have a more sisterly bond, with Chloe often going to Ella about her arguments with Red.

Red and Bridget are cousins and Bridget often gets Red's side of the argument that Chloe probably told Ella about so when Ella and Bridget get back to their shared room, they're just rolling their eyes at the two other rangers.

Chloe gets along with Bridget due to their bubbly personalities, while Ella and Red get along from their shared motherly trauma (Ella lived with her stepmother before becoming a ranger).

Chloe and Charming are the best swordspersons on the team, often dueling each other with their matches ended up tied.

Charming teaches Red how to skateboard.

Bridget and Charming are often trying to get Ella to relax and join them in some silly little activity.

Red learns motherly love from Cindy

Anyway, Red and Chloe eventually learn to work together and learn a lot about each other. That's when the romance begins >:)

Finale: The gang is invited to Castlecoming at Auradon's Grand Castle.

Red and Chloe go together and they're about to confess their feelings when the Queen of Hearts makes an appearance for the first time. With the shock, she kidnaps Cindy releases her army of cards on Auradon and the Cinderellasburg estate.

Red consoles Chloe who is already thinking the worst, and she is backed up by the other members of the team who promise to get Cindy back whatever it takes.

Against King Reginald's orders, the rangers go off and enter Wonderland.

Chad stays back to help fend off the card soldiers with the other Knights of Cinderellasburg.

Red and Bridget have to lead the team through the treacherous terrain of Wonderland but they make it and manage to sneak into the castle.

They split up: Ella, Bridget, and Charming go off to rescue Cindy. Meanwhile, Chloe and Red go to confront the Queen of Hearts.

Red tries to compromise with her mom, saying that there's gotta be another way, but she ends up initiating the first attack.

Chloe and Red end up fighting the Queen of Hearts and they're doing really well until the Queen of Hearts manages to temporarily get the upper hand. She goes to strike down Red, but Chloe steps in front of her and takes the blow.

Red rises up and takes Chloe's sword, and along with her own sword, finally goes full out against her mom.

She gets to defeat her mom and knocks her out but discovers that the army of the Queen is still not defeated and is being fueled by the Sorcerer's Cookbook which has a strong protective spell around it that even the Queen of Hearts can't stop.

The other rangers come back with Cindy and Cindy tells them there is one last option, which is to combine all of their swords into one sword. However, there's a catch: the sword can only be wielded by one person and there's a chance of them getting destroyed by its power, plus destroying the cookbook would unleash even more energy, essentially giving the wielder of the sword a death sentence.

Red steps up, saying that she'll do it, and rebukes Cindy's offer to do it since Red promised Chloe she would get her mother back. Reluctantly, they all merge their swords (Cindy is able to wield Chloe's sword since she's still unconscious and since Cindy was the former blue ranger) and Red wields the Five Sword. She manages to strike the protective shield of the cookbook and stabs the Cookbook and is holding on as a great power is about to take her out.

At the last minute, the Queen of Hearts wakes up from being unconscious and sees that Red is about to die from both wielding the sword and destroying the cookbook. She steps up, takes the sword from Red and shoves her back to the other rangers.

Finally, with a bright light, the Cookbook is destroyed, along with the Queen of Hearts to Red's dismay.

Chloe is still out and Red doesn't know what to do until Cindy suggests a True Love's Kiss.

It works and when Chloe finally comes to, she asks what happens and Red says that her mom is gone, but they won. Chloe only puts a hand on the other girl's cheek, consoling her but relieved that they won.

Time Skip: Without the Queen of Hearts, Red has claim to Wonderland's throne. She and Chloe are now a couple, currently running Wonderland. The rest of the team gets relocated to Wonderland as they have a new mission: help Red and Chloe rebuild Wonderland and join it with the United States of Auradon.

Wet Beast Wednesday: bluegill

This series goes all over the world; from the tropics to the poles to the deep sea. After all that, it can be nice to go home. For this Wet Beast Wednesday I'm going back to my spawnpoint of Illinois and discussing the state fish: the bluegill.

Lepomis macrochirus is the most popular and famous of genus Lepomis, known as the sunfish or true sunfish (not to be confused with ocean sunfish). These fish are native to freshwater lakes, streams, wetlands, and rivers of North America and all share a fleshy ear flap extending from the operculum and are usually quite colorful. Bluegills are large for sunfish, which isn't saying much. Adults can reach and average of between 10 and 30 cm (4-12 in) and the largest bluegill on record reached a whopping 41 cm (16 cm) and was weighed in at 4 lbs 12 ox (2.2 kg). Bluegills and flattened and deep bodies with fused dorsal fins and spines in both the dorsal and anal fins that help prevent predation. The fish are brightly colored, but coloration varies widely based on size, diet, time of year, location, and many other factors. Because of this, two bluegill can look like completely different fish. Their bodies can range from dark green to orange, darkest on the top, and they usually have green faces with blue markings on the chin and bottom of the face that give them their common name. The "breast" region just below and behind the head ranges from yellow to orange and is usually a bright orange in mature males. A key feature is that the ear flap is black. Bluegills usually grow more brightly colored during mating season and less colorful other times of the year. There is a series of vertical stripes going down the side of the body that can quickly be darkened as a threat display.

Bluegill are skilled swimmers thanks to the shape and flexibility of their fins and the amount of fine control they have over them. This lets the fish maneuver gracefully through obstacles and confined spaces that other fish would struggle in and turn while not having to move forward. Bluegills are also one of a relatively few fish that are skilled at swimming backwards. This requires very different fin motion than swimming forwards. When swimming forwards, bluegills use their tail fin to provide thrust with the other fins helping with steering as is typical for fish. While swimming backwards, the dorsal and anal fins provide thrust while the pectoral fins are moved in a rowing motion to provide steering. Bluegills are also fast swimmers, their slender bodies allowing them to cut through the water at high speeds. Bluegills are also often used as an example when explaining the c-start escape response. This is a behavior found in tons of fish used to escape from danger. When the fish senses danger, a group of specialized neurons called Mauthner cells activate and control the escape response. The fish bends its body into a C shape. This shape allows for maximum thrust when it rapidly straightens its body out again for a speedy getaway. The c-start escape response is heavily customizable, allowing the fish to shoot off at nearly any angle it needs.

Bluegills are found in freshwater systems east of the Rocky Mountains (so most of North America) but they have been introduced west of the Rockies and to other parts of the world. They are very adaptable fish that can live in a wide variety of environments. It is probably easier to list bodies of water in North America that don't have bluegill than the other way around. They prefer to live in areas with cover, live brush, aquatic plants, and shady spots. Bluegill are diurnal predators that subsist on aquatic invertebrates like insect and crayfish larvae and worms, along with the occasional smaller fish. In times of famine, they will eat aquatic plants and algae or turn to cannibalism. Like many fish, bluegill feed through suction and they need to get within under 2 centimeters of they prey for the suction to be effective. Bluegills are also prey to larger predatory fish, turtles, birds, raccoons, and otters. Bluegill are mostly active in the morning and evening and will often move between feeding grounds and shelter during the day. They are reported to be aggressive to each other and other fish. Sighs of aggression include darkening their stripes, flaring their ear flaps, and biting.

Bluegills mate in the summer between May and August. Males will build nests in rocky or sandy bottoms by clearing away sediment to expose hard surfaces. The nests are circular and 15 to 30 cm (6-12 in) in diameter and built in shallow water. Males will swim around their nest to try to attract females through displays and grunting noises. Females carefully analyze the male's displays and appear to prefer males with larger ear flaps. Once a female chooses a male, they will circle each other as the male acts aggressive. Once they meet in the middle of the nest the two will touch their underbellies together, with the male on top, and the female will lay her eggs as the male fertilizes them. The eggs sink into the nest and stick to hard surfaces. After mating, the male takes the kids in the divorce chases the female away and will guard the nest until the eggs hatch and the larvae swim away. During this period, the male will aggressively defend the nest against anything that comes near. They have been known to approach and bite snorkelers who get too close. Females can produce between 1,000 and 100,000 eggs depending on their size. Bluegill will mate multiple times each season. Larvae live in the shallows and feed on plankton. They grow rapidly for their first three years and then slow down. Bluegill can live up to 11 years, but usually live between 5 and 8 years.

Bluegill can hybridize with other sunfish, though this is rare in the wild. It usually happens when two sunfish species live in an area with limited nesting ground. The most common hybrid is with the green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) to produce an offspring called a greengill. Greengills are highly varied in appearance and typically between their parents in size. Most greengills seem to be the result of a male bluegill attracting and mating with a female green. Greengills were long thought to be stile as are most hybrids, but a least some second generation hybrids have been discovered. Greengills do have reduced fertility compared to their parent species. Another hybrid that is less commonly seen and not as well studied is the pumpkingill, a hybrid of bluegill and pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus).

Bluegills are classified as least concern by the IUCN, meaning they are not in danger of extinction. Bluegills have been introduced to waters well outside of the native range by anglers and they have become an invasive species in multiple countries. They are banned from being imported in Germany and Japan because of how invasive they became. Bluegills are highly popular among anglers. They are small and easy enough to catch to be a good target for beginners and large bluegill are a good example of panfish, fish small enough to be cooked in a frying pan. Large males are particularly easy to catch due to their aggressive defense of their nest. Many places have very low populations of large males. Lakes and ponds are frequently stocked with captive-bred bluegill to attract anglers. Population management is important because bluegill can damage the local ecosystem if their numbers grow too large. They can also be introduced to ponds to try to help control aquatic insect populations. Bluegills have little fear of humans, especially in places where people feed them. I personally have been SCUBA diving in a quarry where people feed the fish and the bluegills swam right up to me. Bluegills that are very familiar with people are know to allow themselves to be pet. Bluegills can be kept in captivity, though they need large tanks and tend to be aggressive to other fish.

You'd sent a message ahead regarding your impending arrival, contacting Bumblebee through the encrypted channel the two of you shared to let him know you'd be moving through the area and hoped he'd be free for a visit, and as always the enthusiasm in his reply had warmed your spark. It wasn't as if you were any less excited, but you were a little worn down after covering thousands of miles in mere days. Being on the run made stops like these quite hard to set up safely.

There was little worry in your spark now though, and as you finally saw the warm glow of a cozy home shining through the dark forest you were beyond thrilled to send the message of your impending arrival. Bumblebee replied in the affirmative almost instantaneously, and you couldn't stop smiling as you grew closer with every step. The kids would be there as well, and you were confident they'd have a million questions about your travels and even more stories of their own adventure to share. No amount of exhaustion could temper your enthusiasm to meet with the family after so many long months away.

The rumble of an engine caught your audial, and you arrived at a gap in the trees just in time to see a yellow sports car zooming in your direction. Brief, instinctive alarm gave way to confusion when the vehicle drew close enough for you to recognize a very familiar paint job.

"Y/N!" he said as the two of you collided with a clank for a long overdue hug. Feeling his frame against yours all but melted away the tension of the past few months, your actuators relaxing save for the tightness with which you wrapped your arms about him and held on for dear life. Every part of him felt like home, his voice everything you didn't know you needed as he whispered into your audial. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too..." you sighed, so content you could have stayed there for hours just soaking in his presence. It took a moment for uncertainty to cut through the blissful reunion, especially as you realized it was about nine people short of what you'd been expecting. Figuring they were all still in the house or the Dugout, you pulled your helm back to face him with a raised optic ridge and a perplexed smile. "But why drive all the way over here? I was making my way to the house to meet you and the kids."

Bumblebee blushed at the question, embarrassment briefly lighting up his cheeks before he cleared his vents to answer. "I know, and they've got a ton of new things to show you, Hashtag probably has a few days worth of footage saved up." he explained with equal pride and amusement, making you chuckle as you imagined the impromptu movie night that was waiting for you. Softening his expression once more, the Scout looked to the side, holding you closer but speaking quietly. "But I... wanted a few minutes with you. Just the two of us."

The open vulnerability from the usually private mech briefly made your optics widen in surprise, but you recovered and closed them to bring your forehelm forward and tap it against his, a tender gesture of intimacy between bots. Bumblebee returned it with a tiny sigh, savoring your presence as much as you did his. In a few minutes the two of you would head for the Dugout and reunite with the family for what would be a delightful evening of games and catching up, but for now, the two of you were just going to enjoy the quiet together. There was no way to know when you'd next have the chance...

Well since you reviewed Pinsir, how about Haracross too?

Heracross is the counterpoint to Pinsir, though ironically the two couldn't be more different design-wise. Pinsir is very much a monster that looks vaguely like a stag beetle, while Heracross is pretty straightforwardly a rhinoceros beetle (stag beetles and rhinoceros beetles being some of the most popular pairings in Japanese bug fights, which is what Pokemon is based off of). Sure, Heracross is bipedal and there are some anatomical differences here and there, but it's not quite as wildly different from the IRL insect compared to Pinsir.

Visually, Heracross is a fairly rare example of an almost completely monotone Pokemon, being a nice shade of blue with only its white claws and yellow eyes to break things up. The body has a plated look to match actual beetle exoskeletons, and includes details like the spikes on the forelegs that actual beetles have. I like Heracross' face in particular—the face is divided into its own section that looks around and under the eyes, creating a short of :3 mouth shape. It's both cute and a unique way to handle the tricky subject of how to stylize bug mouthparts for Pokemon in a way that isn't just humanoid. Overall, a very straightfoward design, but a pretty decent one.

The degree to which Heracross' design is straightforward is a bit of its time, so Mega Heracross adds a ton of detail, some of which works and some of which I think just clutters things. It also progresses the rhinoceros beetle idea by making it into a Hercules beetle specifically, one of the biggest beetles out there, as emphasized by the particular double horn shape.

I do really like the addition of the red bands around the body, which is now a slightly darker blue for higher contrast. I don't mind Heracross being monocolor, but the red bands add just the right pop of color without being too much. The progression of the theme and the overall changes to the body shape make it very distinct and give it a good sense of progression. There's also a few neat mechanical things in there, like the way it can pop open its arms to fire things like seeds

However, there's also some parts of the design that feel a bit overworked. For example, I don't get what that giant red splotch across the forehead is supposed to be; it's pretty distracting and really doesn't add anything to the design. (I also miss the :3 expression, but that's not the point.) Likewise, it has yellow on its back, which feels like too much color—yes, it looks like a Hercules beetle, but I feel like it gets that across perfectly well without the unnecessary color.

White it's less of a problem, I also don't love the vents on the stomach. It's probably supposed to look a bit mech-like because bugs are a big superhero thing in Japan, but I feel like this pushes it too much into looking mechanical instead of insect-like. I think if the vents were just changed to straight line divisions and the yellow elytra and red on the forehead were removed, you'd have a much more cohesive and less busy design.

As a whole, Heracross is a pretty straightforward but nicely designed rhinoceros beetle. Mega Heracross has the right idea, but has just a few too many things going on with it that bog down the design a bit.

“Don’t you dare!” Kazuki hissed, with his finger pressed to his lips, at Rei as they followed behind Miri.

She’d been excited to see the new exhibit at the aquarium. One all about mythical underwater sea creatures and their origins, and, most importantly, mermaids. The exhibit was so popular that it had been sold out from the start. Luckily for them, however, [Y/N] was working at the exhibit and was able to get them tickets. Their typical ‘job of the week’ as they called it because every time Kazuki or Rei turned around they seemed to have a new one.

Sort of like their line of work. Just with much less violence and more menial tasks.

They made their way through the aquarium. Stopping now & then to look at some other fish and exhibits, but Miri was on a mission. “Do you think they’ll have blue mermaids?!”

“I’m sure they will.” Kazuki replied optimistically.

“Mermaids aren’t real.” Rei muttered. To which Kazuki scowled and he shut up.

“I hope there’s a pink one so we can match!”

“I’m sure there will be all kinds of mermaids Miri-chan. But you’ll need to be patient when we get inside.”

Even with the tickets, the line through the ‘mermaid cove’ was long. A slow moving train of adults and children going through a glass aquarium tunnel to gawk at the fish and swimming mermaids. Even as jaded as they were, Kazuki and Rei had to admit, it was pretty impressive.

“Look! Look! A pink mermaid!” The two men look to where Miri was pointing and both gained equal expressions of shock.

There, floating angelically in the water, with an ornate yellow tail dotted with orange and pearl studded seashell bra was [Y/N]. She was wearing a wig, and painted up to look more fish like, but they could tell it was her. And, apparently, she could see that it was them because she waved.

“She’s so pretty! I think she’s my favorite.”

“Mine too.” Rei said in his usual sullen voice. To which Kazuki pouted.

“You wish pal….”

They finish the exhibit, and look at some more fishes, before stopping in the food court for lunch. By the time they had finished, [Y/N] was coming up to them. No longer a mermaid, but just a regular girl in sweats with wet hair. “Hey guys! Did you like the exhibit?”

“It was so pretty!!”

[Y/N] chuckled at Miri’s enthusiasm. “Good. I’m glad you liked it.”

“That’s a pretty intricate costume you have to wear.” Kazuki commented. “Do they ever let you take it home?”

[Y/N] rolled her eyes at his eyebrow wag. “That tail weighs a ton. It’s not as fun as you think it would be.”

“I didn’t know you could hold your breath that long.” Rei mentioned. Sipping his soda.

“Yep! We’ll I had a job here like….4 summers ago scrubbing tanks. They knew that I could stay underwater a long time so they offered me the job. Definitely more glamorous.”

“You’ll have to teach me.” He told her. “…for missions…”

“If you’re off now, do you want to come home with us? You can tell Miri all about your mermaid training.”

OKAY SO BASICALLY!

dark and chosen are probably on the run at the time, but they end up somehow running into the color gang WAY earlier than they would initially and end up raising them!

The color gang are already friends, but they're more likely than not an outernet stick rather than an internet stick? they don't exactly have any place to stay or parents either????

SC meanwhile is most likely a doodle that escaped from Alan's computer while he wasn't at his desk (still no clue how) but they didn't really know where they were when they were created, and all Alan really knew was that the file disappeared into nothing?

He mostly forgets about it though, since, well. It just kind of vanished. a file can't just do that. and the ALTERNATIVE is not great, because he still remembers dark and chosen.

anyway, the color gang ends up taking in SC as part of their group is the important part!!!

even though i've drawn them meeting because the kids were staying in dark and chosen's house, i actually do think they'd probably scout locations, because i imagine they have a lot of trouble with SC due to them being a hollowhead, and people don't exactly have a great view of hollowheads. you'd think they wouldn't take it out on kids but since TDL is still around and it's been less time since their reign of terror, sticks are a LOT more agitated about it

most likely they run into half the group while the other half (usually green, the other half of the group cycles though) is back holding down the base with SC

anyway Dark and Chosen are actually nice to the kids (because yeah. they get it. being on your own in a world that doesn't like you is scary, esp when you have 0 experience with life) but one of them realizes that they're hollowheads! both of them expect the kids to freak out and run off but actually they're pretty happy to see someone who won't immediately freak out upon seeing SC!

they bring the two over to SC (potentially because SC had been hurt or something) and they're immediately just 'ah, fuck, we can't just leave them here in the city,' so they decide to bring them back to their house!

of course the others insist on being brought along so despite some arguing they do eventually give in, thinking that they'll find somewhere else for them to stay and just let them visit SC every now and then. spoiler alert: this doesn't happen and the CG just ends up living there with them lol

chosen and dark essentially take the group under their wing in everything though, teaching the bunch of them and taking care of them and eventually coming to refer to the group as their honorary siblings due to their friendship with SC! they also take an interest in the crime side of things (much to Chosen's despair and Dark's delight) and they end up causing a lot of terror themselves!

Yellow and Red typically work with the virabots, with Yellow using some other tech as well since Dark encouraged them to work with technology a lot! Red generally does work with any semi-sentient robots though, since they really like doing that stuff!

Blue makes a lot of explosives and stuff! they've accidentally blown up a ton of stuff (including the house multiple times!) and generally is more destruction-based than the others, but they can do controlled destruction if they really have to! Chosen can be a little rough on Blue since they cause a lot of collateral damage, but they're pretty flexible!

Green generally is a melee kind of person who does more focused work or hangs out in the background! they're usually the planner or if a plan needs doing by a specific person, they usually take that over! they do more focused fighting in general!

also, i don't know if i've mentioned this, but Dark doesn't use the Virabands just for Virabots in this au! they actually made the Virabands for the kids!

the virabands override admin permissions on a computer, preventing the sticks from coming to any harm involving a user trying to forcibly quit their programs or any sort of antivirus trying to get rid of them, and also preventing them from being 'tamed' similarly to Chosen!

this will be important later BUT!!!!!! i wanna talk about the gang's relationship with each other first!!! specifically the most interesting ones; yellow and SC!

first off, Yellow is very close with Dark, since they learned almost everything they know from them! they share interests so the two spend a lot of time together! they really value each other's company since they think a lot alike, and it makes things very hard when conflict starts to happen between them.

SC meanwhile is kind of under a lot of pressure! she's kind of considered the baby sibling of the group, and the others are really protective of her, but at the same time, she's under a lot of pressure to unlock her powers! Chosen and Dark are unintentionally kind of suffocating for him, and he can't really get away from them because they still view SC as their fragile little sibling.

SC still can't access their powers, but they can do a minimal amount of electricity if they really try or are particularly stressed. It's not really enough to hurt anyone, but it'll stun you.

SC loves everyone a lot, but finds them pretty overwhelming in general. Also their favorite sibling between the older two is Chosen because Chosen is chill about things and lets them sleep.

It's also worth mentioning that he does really want to seek out his creator! She feels like if she understood why she was made, it'd be easier to get her powers working. He ends up taking an interest in humans despite the other's discouragement, too.

ANYWAY! ALAN! Yes, Alan's here!

They get permission to go to user desktops from Chosen and Dark, so long as they bring things to defend themself with and also tell Chosen and Dark! (they do tend to ask what IP address they're going to, just to make sure, but they don't realize that the kids sometimes computer hop)

and eventually, they find themselves on Alan's computer! Alan isn't able to force quit SC's friends, so it's a lot less heated, but he does end up cornering a lot of them, before SC ends up finding the pencil, and Alan subsequently finds out SC can talk!

after that the whole thing kind of defuses because SC thinks the pencil is cool and Alan not only thinks that SC is great at art, but is also kind of shocked that they can talk! they end up getting along pretty well, and Alan lets them hang out as long as they promise to at least TRY to not break the computer. They're actually a little bit better than they are in canon, but they're still pretty bad about it lol

Alan does kind of become kind of a home away from home for SC in particular, and they end up visiting him a lot to just draw, talk about the things happening back home, help him learn how to draw-- all that stuff! they care about Alan a lot and Alan ends up treating them like an actual person, since it's a lot easier to recognize that they are when they talk about their life outside of the computer.

of course, this can't stay secret forever.

I think that eventually, Dark finds out the CG is at his computer, and tries to wreck his computer completely, even though the others are still on it. Dark's basically lost it on Alan because in their eyes he's manipulating them (and they know that he's capable of that considering they initially were on his side), and the CG is trying to stop them and have to go to Chosen, and it blows up into this whole thing

it's possible Dark actually ends up hurting the others, and SC in return ends up hurting Dark-- not to the degree of what happens in canon but it's just messy and painful for everyone, and the CG kind of have to spend time away from Dark while things cool down, and Chosen kind of has to sweep up the mess and explain everything that's happened, including WHY it was so upsetting

it's kind of messy for everyone to fix, but after realizing that the others trust Alan more after what happens Dark really realizes they completely fucked up, and tries to fix what they did, but it takes time.

they mostly move to Alan's computer for a while, but they eventually do reconcile!

that's all i've got for now but i do like this au a lot, it's one of my favorites thus far i think and i've been having a lot of fun with these guys ✌️

Green Addisons 🍃｡ Mix of Public and Private Models 🍃｡ General Use, can be made to sell Just about anything! They mold their personality to match what they are selling to! 🍃｡ Very Bland by themself, can't do a whole lot without guidance. 🍃｡ Most Green Addisons function like deadpan robots when they aren't told what to do. 🍃｡ Higher-up Addison's just see them as a way to make passive income. 🍃｡ Despite how lackluster they are, they seem to love trying to flirt with Customers to get sales. They will do ANYTHING to feel wanted due to how...bland they are. Blue Addisons 🌊｡ Mostly Public Models 🌊｡They are always very kind! sometimes so much so it doesn't really come off as genuine to some people. 🌊｡HUGE gossipers. Somehow knows rumors about customers the customer didn't know. 🌊｡Sells pastries most of the time, but they can be used as general-purpose sellers too! 🌊｡There are some cases where they are higher in company Rank than they should be. Purple Addisons 🔮｡Mostly Public Models 🔮｡ They are mostly Assistants to Higher Addisons. However, they are swapped and passed around a lot. 🔮｡They sell whoever they are serving small snacks to stay alive. 🔮｡Due to how many High ups they meet they all spread Drama to their new 'owner' about their previous one. 🔮｡If they do get the chance to sell alone, they Sell pants or pets! 🔮｡Due to their most common job as Assistants, If they slip up once they tend to be scrapped. So its caused them to be VERY paranoid when doing big Tasks for their 'owners' 🔮｡Higher ups hardly buy from them to keep them Alive. So there is a rising issue among Purple Addisons about them Cannibalizing their 'owners' to stay alive. Orange Addisons 🍊｡Basically ONLY public models. 🍊｡Its rare they sell. They get used as Guard Addisons or just people to sort out paperwork. 🍊｡Despite anything, they are very laid back guys! 🍊｡They are good at selling when they get the chance though! 🍊｡They are so low on the Addison 'food chain' as they die easily. 🍊｡As their job is to protect ANY Addison they are assigned to, they could be a group or a single Red Addison. They tend to learn that putting themself in dangers way keeps their 'owner(s)' safe. 🍊｡They are mass manufactured due to this, Cheaply made and cheaply sold. 🍊｡They also have a bad issue with cannibalizing those they are assigned to... Defects ☁️｡Being Defected is mainly a physical thing so it's hard to organize them. ☁️｡Public model Defects are just killed on sight. Scrapped ☁️｡Private modes can TRY climb into higher ranks but its hard, ☁️｡The last Defect who tried to hit it big had his life ruined! ☁️｡So no other Defect has tried to make it past a Pink Addison, Look where that got the first guy who tried.

Add-Ons 🎧｡ Customization This allows Addison's to change their color, hairstyle, Name, Tail Style, Eye color, and body type through a hologram menu. 🎧｡ PaintSkin Basically MSPAINT on their skin, you can doodle on them for fun. But its mainly used to take notes or other important info. 🎧｡ Defense Makes them be able to summon things like Fire Walls (big walls of fire, Creative I know), AD Block (Ad Block Tabs to use as Shields), It can be used for other types of defense but these are just what came to mind. 🎧｡ Attack Be Able to summon things like Spears, and Mantis Blades (Stolen from cyberpunk...they are so cool.) Large Pointer Arrows as Weapons, Guns, Grenades, the Whole lot! Or modified WireFrames that can function like Whips or just hard-hitting metal wires. 🎧｡WireFraming They are able to plug a wire that comes out from the back of their head into any device to 'jam' it. Addisons use this to screw over others. But its supposed to be used if the Device has a virus that could spread.

kitchen colors

so ok it's the weekend and we were snowed in for a week and i've done a ton of unpacking but it's all invisible yay

but dude was making low-key plans for the weekend and i was like NO WE MUST GO TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND GET PAINT SAMPLES

i had to like. drag him to look at the paint chips idk why it was so difficult.

So we haggled and hemmed and hawed and held chips up in various spots and eliminated almost everything I'd brought home. Nothing would do as the accent color. But the wall color... we narrowed it down to Behr's Thai Teal, Celtic Queen, or Bella Vista. Celtic Queen was their pthalo-est green; Thai Teal and Bella Vista are almost the same except Thai Teal is dustier and Bella Vista clearer. Dude felt the cabinets having a dusty cast meant the wall should do, and I strongly felt the opposite. He yielded to my intensity of feeling on this.

But none of the colors I'd picked out were suitable as a trim color to pair with either of the teals or the green, so we'd have to go look. A lime green, perhaps, or a bright orange?

I also felt that painting the bay windowsill a strong color was the wrong choice, so we decided it should be a high-gloss white, but of course a shade of white that didn't clash with the white countertop. Not having a sample of countertop, I instead brought a spare backsplash tile with me to the hardware store, so I could tell what color of white I needed (ugh).

Thus ensued Hell: Trying to pick which of the hundred colors of white would match the tile without being too obviously not-white (which would clash with the white-white plastic of the electrical outlets and the plastic window frames, which I am not painting. The outlet and switch plates are getting painted or replaced with something decorative, sure, but the actual bit you put the plugs into is staying as it is, I'm not painting that shit). But, fortunately, Dude comes of graphic designer types, and came through for me.

We tried lime green with the teal. It looked banger as fuck, but the only problem was, it also looked exactly like a really classic IKEA duvet cover pattern from about 2000. I could not paint my kitchen to look like the duvet cover Dude had when we met. That is not going to work out, psychically.

I picked a brilliant orange, and also hated it. It looked like... the 1970s. it looked. Too much. It popped but like, in a slightly upsetting way. it was giving Miami vibes, in an early-90s kind of way.

I dithered, and finally Dude went and picked a less red orange, in fact called Joyful Orange. That looked much better, and I got sample pots of Joyful Orange and Bella Vista to take home. (They are SEVEN DOLLARS each can you believe. Ah well.)

It's. Sort of parrot colors? But it's bright and it's bold. I like it in every lighting situation. So I think this is what I'm going with.

And then for the outlet covers, I got one lighter shade of turquoise, and then dug out my craft paints. I bought a couple of spare outlet covers at the hardware store-- forty-eight cents apiece? I'd be crazy not to-- lightly buffed them with some fine sandpaper, and went to town. This is just the first layer, once it dries I'm going to go back over and try to add realistic veining and like metallic glitter and such to make them look like turquoise gemstone material.

Ah maybe I should do a layer of clear coat and then do the veining? We'll see. I'm not sure.

The Wheel of Time Ajahs ranking + reasoning. From best to worst. Inspired by a late night conversation I had with my sibling. (Full series spoilers)

1: Brown. They are the best Ajah for 2 reasons, one: they actually do what their Ajah is supposed to do and don’t just fuck around doing politics like roughly 80% of the other Aes Sedai. And two: they are, on average, some of the least insufferable Aes Sedai to talk to. + Verin bias.

2: Blue. They, like the Browns, do also actually do what their Ajah is supposed to do. The unfortunate thing is that what the Blue are supposed to do is basically whatever they want. But they seem generally the most likely to actually help normal people and be invested in making the world better. + Moiraine bias.

3: Grey. They also do their stated job pretty well and consistently. They are the last Ajah until the Red (arguably the white) to do so. tbh the Grey is mostly here because we get so little information on what they’re actually like. But they seem to be doing a pretty good job and not fucking up in any significant way, so they get 3rd.

4: Green. I like the green Ajah. They just don’t really do what they say they do. “The Battle Ajah”? Really? So why aren’t you in the borderlands helping with fighting shadowspawn? Or doing anything actually? Because I thought about it for a while, and I genuinely can’t remember a major thing that the Greens were doing, as a group, before the last battle. But they’re generally pretty cool and when the last battle did actually happen they showed up.

5: White. They’re fine, just the ones we’ve seen seem pretty annoying to talk to. They also are actually philosophers and mathematicians, but from what I can tell they don’t have a ton of contact with philosophers and mathematicians from outside of The Tower. Which is not really good practice if you want to advance those fields. So they fail at their stated job by not actually sharing their work enough. Basically they’re the much less cool and more annoying browns.

6: Yellow. AAAAHHHHH!!!!! The way the Yellows act makes me unspeakably mad. First, they completely disregard traditional medicine, because they can do stuff with the power better. HEY WHAT THE FUCK? The power has limits, especially with healing. Aes Sedai say that constantly throughout the series. But NO. No studying how traditional medicine could teach you more about the body. No seeing if some herbs could help with the recovery from healing. No interest in learning anything new! The most understandable kinda stupid thing they do is that they don’t research new healing weaves out of fear. But the second and worst thing is that they call themselves the healing Ajah, but from what I can tell don’t heal ANYONE who doesn’t come to The Tower or they just happen to heal out in the world. Again, HEY WHAT THE FUCK? There should be HOSPITALS!! At least one small one in every major city. Or at least in a few? I know there’s a problem of them not being able to heal everything, but they could still save a lot of people! Especially if they recruited people who could use normal medicine! But no. They seem to be the worst offenders of sitting on their asses in The Tower just doing politics.

7: Red. Do I really need to explain why Red is the worst? If you’ve read the series you know why I’m doing this. They are literally such a fuck-up of an Ajah that at the time of the series the there hasn’t been an Amyrlin raised from the Red for OVER 1,000 YEARS because the last one was such a disaster. And then when there is a Red raised to Amyrlin during the series she literally causes The Tower to completely fracture and have a little civil war when THE END OF THE WORLD is about to happen. And even though they technically do their job of dealing with men who can channel, they do a really bad job at it (specifically in how they treat the men after gentling, I go into it here). As well as the fact that most red sisters aren’t actually hunting men who can channel. Like 50 of them are at most. That’s 1/4 of the Ajah that’s doing it’s job. Also The Box was the Red Ajah’s idea.

Leave No Trace: Henry Creel’s Questionable Hiking Etiquette (Did Henry Bring The Shadow Particles To Dimension X? Does Soteria Inhibit The Replication of Shadow Particles?)

‼️TFS SPOILERS BELOW! However, I still only have minimal spoilers as I haven’t seen the show yet & so please be mindful of that in the tags/reblogs on the post!! <3‼️

So, in TFS it’s revealed that Henry’s had the shadow/been infected with the shadow since pre-Hawkins.

And there’s been a long-running question of “how did the shadow particles/mindflayer get into the yellow UD/Dimension X?”

And now, I’m wondering if Henry brought the shadow particles into Dimension X. Let’s get into it.

So, we all know that Will was also infected with shadow particles in S2:

And we also know that Henward’s got all of those weird things during the 1979 massacre that point to him still having the shadow, such as the weird bright blue bloodshot eyes that resemble Flayed Billy’s eyes and the “eldritch thrumming,” that he has:

And so, how did they remove the shadow particles from Will in S2? Heat, the shadow was exorcised from Will by applying heat to his body/raising his body temperature:

And who else had their body temperature raised in a very significant way, far beyond the temperature that Will’s body was raised to?

Well-

Henward did, when El sent him to the scorching Dimension X & he was struck by lighting:

And the amount of heat he was clearly exposed to is evidenced by his burns.

And so, if Henward did have the shadow particles inside of his body when El sent him to Dimension X (which, he very much seems to have had them based on the eldritch thrumming/TFS etc), then wouldn’t it stand to reason that his exposure to the heat/lighting, which was hot enough to sear his flesh off, would have exorcised him of said particles?

And we saw the way that the particles flew out when Will was exorcised:

So, I wonder if the shadow particles that Henward “found,” actually came from within his own body and were exorcised as he was flying through Dimension X.

Now, you might be thinking “but Em, that’s a LOT of shadow particles,” and you’d be right.

However, there’s some key things to consider here that I think demonstrate why it’s 100% feasible for Henward to have had that many particles inside of his body.

So, in S2, Owens compares the shadow particles to a virus- and even more specifically, he compares them to a virus in the context of replication & spreading & multiplying:

And look at the amount of particles that Will had- he has quite a lot, and those were enough shadow particles to cause the events of Season 3, and Will only had the shadow in him for a few days- Henward had the shadow in him for 20 years.

Like if THIS is the amount of particles from a few DAYS???? Imagine *henward monologue voice* “DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS, YEARS, DECADES-“ of shadow particles replicating constantly. Imagine all of the particles in those S2 screenshots, which are a week’s worth at ABSOLUTE MOST if we’re being GENEROUS, because i don’t think it was a week between Will being flayed and his exorcism, I think it was less, and then multiply however many particles are in those photos by 1043 (the number of weeks in 20 years)- point is, you’ll end up with a TON of particles.

And also, I know James @henrysglock has mentioned the idea of Soteria suppressing the shadow in Henward, but I’m also specifically wondering if Soteria inhibited the replication of the particles, meaning that Henward would’ve stopped making new particles whenever he was Soteria’d, which could explain why he a.) has so many particles but isnt completely gone/still has brain function and b.) why so much changed after Soteria was removed/the amount of particles he dispelled, as the particles would’ve resumed replication after Soteria was removed.

Plus, there’s the chance that the shadow particles were able to replicate even after leaving Henward’s body- hence adding even more of an explanation for the large cloud. This is less likely than Henward simply having had a ton of shadow particles in him, as the particles seem to need a host to replicate, but still.

So, I actually think the amount of shadow particles that we see in Dimension X is as reasonable amount to have been expelled from Henward considering that the shadow was likely replicating inside of him for decades (and then if I’m right about Soteria inhibiting shadow particle replication, it would’ve stopped for awhile after he was Soteria’d, and then resumed replication after El removed Soteria, which could also explain his increasingly erratic behaviour during the massacre & how it’s not just an ‘on off weird behaviour vs not weird behaviour/shadow off vs shadow on’ switch after the Soteria removal, but instead, is a slow slide into increasingly erratic behaviour, which would make sense if the shadow was replicating inside of him.

I also wonder if the shadow is tied to Henward’s ability to “consume” his victims/absorb their skills and memories etc, but that’s a topic for another time.

So, did Henward being blasted into Dimension X & being burned alive exorcise the shadow from him and the that’s how the shadow is present in the previously “untouched” Dimension X? Especially since the shadow likely can’t be native to Dimension X, as the shadow is around pre-1959 according to my current knowledge of TFS & as far as we know, Dimension X had never been opened/explored prior to 1979.

And also, it does almost seem like Henward doesn’t recognize the shadow/he talks about “finding it”:

Which, on the surface, that may seem like a point against my theory, as why wouldn’t he recognize it if it came from him/why would he say he found it? And I think that this can be explained by the idea that Henward’s memories may have been affected by the shadow (just like S2 Will’s memories were), and so he doesn’t remember getting flayed/being infected with the shadow.

And this could explain why he was able to control the shadow, which I theorized forever ago about Henward being able to shape/control the shadow due to him having particles inside himself + them almost working like magnets/wanting to be together, but even that aside, point is, Henward’s connection to the shadow via having been flayed & the particles being out of him may explain why he could control it- much like how Will could still sense the particles in S3 even after being exorcised

Long story short: Henward needs better hiking etiquette. You’re supposed to leave no trace/bring out everything you bring in when it comes to natural areas. Dimension X was unspoiled by mankind until SOMEBODY decided to ignore hiking etiquette 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I suppose he didn’t actually plan on going on an interdimensional hike, though- El sort of forced him into a wilderness retreat situation.
