Say what you want about the show but one thing Ginny & Georgia does REALLY well is let you make up your own mind about the characters. Like everyone does bad things but the show makes sure you understand the circumstances behind their actions
Creates some CRAZY ethical scenarios, love to analyze 15/10

had a really interesting convo yesterday about ethics and whether intent or results matters (eg if you tried to make an ethical purchasing choice but the business was actually exploitative as hell, does that "count") and very much came to the conclusion that sure, if you're concerned with your personal immortal soul, as a christian might be, then intention counts. but if what you're focused on is your impact on the world, then intention means nothing if the actions have negative results, right? (that doesn't mean you're to blame for them! you didn't know! but you also don't get "ethics points" for trying, you know?)
and this also got me thinking about the whole christian idea that sinful thoughts are as bad as sinful actions because. they're just not imo. maybe for the sake of your Immortal Soul they are points against you, if that's your jam. but in terms of putting good into the world, in terms of your impact on other people, the ONLY thing that matters is what you choose to do with those thoughts. there is no way that "was kind to someone who was pissing me off, for the sake of community harmony" or "helped an acquaintance with a task even though I felt resentful about the time spent doing that" is a Bad Thing for the world
and it made me wonder how much purity culture and thought policing is rooted in (mostly evangelical) cultural christianity and this idea that ethical choices are an individual thing because what matters is the impact of them on YOUR soul and not, you know, things we do because of what we owe the world around us / because of love for others / because a world where people are trying to put good into it is a hell of a lot nicer to live in than one where people are only worried about themselves
i grew up evangelical but like. fairly mild evangelical and even though there wasn't a big focus on hell and stuff, i definitely fixated on imperfect thoughts and behaviours that were putting absolutely no harm into the world, rather than focusing on what i could do to put good into it, and that individualistic vs outward-focused approach to morality has been something i've grappled with a lot as an adult. but i never really thought about it as simply as this and really that's what it boils down to. are you making the ethical choice because you're trying to put good in the world, or because it would make you a "good person" to do so? because the answer to that 100% defines whether it's the thought or the result that counts

Wait, what? STEM people are the ones falling for conspiracy theories? Is this actually a thing? They, of all people, need to show pretty much all of their work, and the resources they used are peer reviewed. STEM people are not supposed to "believe" anything!! They can only accept facts when they cannot prove them wrong. Who are these STEM geniuses that are clearly failing at their jobs?
Also, while, English (or whatever your mother language is) classes are super important because you learn literary elements and reading comprehension which everyone needs so much and everyone should learn it without whining, BUT even without that, you are not supposed to just take anything at face value in science!! It goes against the structure of your work. You are supposed to scrutinise your findings and only move forward when you fail to prove otherwise, and you have to have other scientists check that you did stuff the right way.
Which is why I find it hard for a STEM person to be susceptible to conspiracy, unless they know it's wrong and perpetuating misinformation on purpose because they are dishonest, which is so much more dangerous.

Not to vague post but like while I don’t necessarily disagree with the posts going around by a few people (including beloved mutuals like seriously this is in good faith I swear) about defending a certain mediocre man and wondering why people do it… the mediocre man has done above the bare minimum speaking out about the literal genocide happening which is more than our fav can say so no I won’t be hating sorry

Ok so I’ve had this question for a while and I feel like you’ll be able to give me a good answer. I understand that we’re absolutely not supposed to support anything JKR does monetarily and I never intend to do so. However is engaging with Harry Potter media *at all* also something I should not do or is it only things that give her money?
Like, would there be anything wrong with me playing Hogwarts Legacy if I pirated it? Is fanfiction and fan art ok to consume? Or is engaging with the IP at all going to be harmful in a way that I don’t see atm?
Thank you for your time!
I don't really think a cis person is the right person to ask about this, but I also know that trans people are sick to death of having to field these questions so I'll do my best to answer this, if everyone who reads my answer will promise me that you will NOT use anything I say in this post as an annoying argument against a trans person who has a different opinion on the matter. Remember whose opinions are actually important here.
And look, number one, you can do whatever the fuck you want. Nobody can stop you. If you, in yourself, in your soul, feel morally comfortable consuming Harry Potter by some convoluted method of Ethical Consumption™, then go and do that, and own it, and have the strength to be judged for your decisions.
Trans people might not trust you - hell, I'll probably not trust you either. They might get angry at you, and criticize you, or roll their eyes and call you a fucking loser. If you have the moral conviction that what you are doing is right, and that you are acting in accordance with your beliefs and you are not doing harm, then stand by that conviction and face the consequences. Have that strength of character.
But if you feel the need to go around posting and arguing that it's unfair, that you shouldn't be judged, that you should get to be a special exception and people are unreasonable when they get mad at you... then that is evidence, proof positive, that you are a fucking loser. That you are cowardly, and you don't actually believe that what you are doing is right, you just want the world to affirm your fragile ego while you enjoy your little treats.
To be clear, I am not accusing you of doing this (you seem to just earnestly be asking for guidance), but there's a hell of a lot of people who do do this, and you don't want to be one of them.
So that's number one. Do whatever the fuck you want, and face the consequences with a spine.
Number two is... just fucking drop it. That is my earnest advice to you. Just fucking drop Harry Potter. They are children's books from the early 2000s, they just are not that fucking good or important. The Hogwarts Legacy game is live service slop; the movies are passable at best and their quality comes from the actors being better than the source material. Just drop it. Harry Potter has nothing to offer that you can't get elsewhere from better media with better authors, or problematic authors who have good grace to at least be dead.
Don't waste your life thinking about complicated ways to circumvent the moral problem of JK Rowling's rancid transphobic hate-aura at the center of the franchise, don't waste your finite time on Earth trying to thread that stupid needle. Harry Potter isn't worth this. Rowling is old, and shriveling from hate and mold fumes, at the very least just wait for her to fucking die, and for her political project to fail, before you pick that world back up again.
I speak as someone who read the first book at age 11, hyperfixated on relating to Harry, and whose entire cultural life was consumed by the franchise for over a decade. It is not worth it. You don't need it, you don't need the stress of trying to navigate how or whether to engage with it ethically. You almost certainly have an enormous backlog of other books, games, movies and TV shows you've been meaning to get around to, so just go do that instead. I promise you it will be infinitely more rewarding, and infinitely less compromised by stress and guilt and cognitive dissonance.
And while you're at it, send some money to a trans charity and go scream invectives at a transphobic politician some time.

Writing a Morally gray character
Think about their backstory, what shaped them into who they are? What do they believe in? And, most importantly, what pushes them to get out of bed every morning and keep going? These characters aren’t simple good or bad. They’re caught in the middle, in that murky, complicated space between black and white. That’s where they get interesting because they’re constantly wrestling with themselves, trying to figure out the right choice, or if the “right” choice even exists for them.
You need to show this internal battle. Imagine your character being torn between what they believe is morally right and what they actually want. This is where the real drama comes in, it’s like watching them juggle their principles with their desires in real-time. They’ll mess up, and they’ll make decisions that are sometimes questionable, but that’s what makes them human and relatable. One way to really highlight their complexity is by putting them in situations where there’s no clear answer. You know, those moments in life where everything’s kind of a mess, and you’re stuck trying to figure out what the hell you’re supposed to do? Your character should face situations like that. These gray areas create tension because readers won’t know which direction the character will go, and honestly, your character might not know either.
And don’t forget, growth is a huge part of writing a morally gray character. People aren’t static, they change based on what happens to them, and your character should too. Maybe they start off with a strong sense of morality but, over time, that starts to shift. Or maybe they start with shaky ethics and slowly become a better person as they learn from their mistakes. Growth can also go the other way, they could spiral downward, giving in to darker impulses. Either way, they need to evolve, just like people do in real life. That’s what keeps the story fresh and unpredictable. The last thing you want is a character that stays the same the whole way through.
Also, please, no stereotypes. A morally gray character doesn’t have to be a brooding anti-hero with a tragic past (unless that’s your vibe, but even then, switch it up). Give them quirks that make them unique. Maybe they have unexpected motivations, like they’re doing something shady for a cause they genuinely believe in, or they’ve got a weird sense of humor that throws people off. Whatever it is, make sure they feel like an individual, not just a copy-paste character we’ve all seen a million times.
Even when your character makes decisions that aren’t exactly clean-cut or heroic, the reader still needs to understand why. Show their vulnerabilities, why they doubt themselves, why they hesitate, and why they ultimately make the choices they do. It’s all about making them relatable, even when they’re walking that fine line between right and wrong. People might not always agree with them, but they should at least be able to see where they’re coming from.
And remember, every choice your character makes should have consequences. They don’t exist in a bubble. Their decisions should ripple out and affect not only them but the people around them. Maybe they make a selfish decision, and it ends up hurting someone they care about, or they try to do the right thing, and it blows up in their face. One last thing, just because your character lives in that gray area doesn’t mean they don’t have any sense of right or wrong. They might have their own personal code they follow, even if it doesn’t line up with society’s morals. Maybe they justify their actions in a way that makes sense to them, even if other people wouldn’t agree. It’s all about exploring that space where they’re not totally good, but not totally bad either. That’s where things get really interesting.
Think about where your character is going. Is their journey going to push them to become a better version of themselves? Will they fall back into old patterns and never really change? Or will they stay stuck in that moral gray zone, constantly torn between doing what’s right and doing what feels right for them?

— third door on the left, marked “debate club"
two professors. one office door away from kissing or killing each other. maybe both.
featuring . theoretical philosophy professor!anaxa x practical philosophy professor!fem!reader.
tags . university au. nodern au. suggestive. semi-public sex mentioned/referenced. (you make so many) sex jokes. fluff. ooc. soft anaxa. comedy. mild language. academic rivalry but make it professors. mentions of alcohol use. workplace romance. bickering as a love language.. flirting. so many philosophy terms (that i barely understand). wc 3.1k.
a/n . a friend dabbed me into philosophy and i folded. the handjob joke was initially hers but i couldn't help myself. im not a philosophy major so if you are please forgive me for any mistakes, my friend who actually majored in it helped me a small bit and im still confused. lmk if there are any typos. enjoy <3
Tumblr media
"your handwriting is offensive," you mutter, turning the paper sideways, then upside down.
anaxa doesn’t look up from his tea. "you still read it, though."
"barely. is this supposed to say 'conscious' or 'conscience'?"
"both."
"no."
"well, that’s why i'm a philosopher."
"i also am one. your last footnotes gave me a headache."
he finally looks up, raising an eyebrow. "then my work here is done."
Tumblr media
"so you’re telling me," you, crossing your arms. "that again, you rewrote the entire reading list after midterms?"
"no," he replies, not looking up from his notes. "i rewrote it because of midterms. frankly, your students deserve better than whatever you assigned them. i read the discussion boards."
"you’re on the discussion boards?"
"i moderate three of them. and i banned a user who called you hot. you’re welcome."
you pause and tilt your head. in the end, you mumble "...that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever done for me."
"don’t get used to it," he mutters, knowing you're exaggerating. "they spelled ‘epistemological’ wrong."
Tumblr media
your bring in tea and fruit for your students. anaxagoras brings nothing and cancels half his office hours because, quote, "philosophy isn’t learned in panic, it’s metabolized in silence" (half the admin hates him).
his and your students are in quiet (jealous) war. campus hallway signs include:
"vote: whose exam will kill us with more dignity?
team prof [name]: understanding through application
team prof anaxagoras: no multiple choice, only anguish"
you and anaxa both pretend you don’t see the posters.
you end up stealing one and taping it to the wall in your office. anaxa responds by using it as part of a pop quiz question.
the students get back by gifting both of you matching mugs that say: "#1 philosophical threat". anaxa mutters about not joking with philosophy majors anymore. (they're literally his students and he's starting to get scared)
Tumblr media
him and you sit on opposite ends of the philosophy department’s couch like it’s some kind of contested ground.
you're reading ethics of desire upside down. he’s pretending not to notice.
"why do you hate me?" you ask, out of nowhere.
"i don’t."
"then why do you argue with me in faculty meetings like we're at the fucking olympics?"
"because you like it," he looks over, holding eye contact.
"and," he adds after a beat. "because you're brilliant. and you're wrong about kant."
"i’m never wrong about kant," you frown.
"see? fun."
Tumblr media
the dean told you it's mandatory to be in the department-wide group chat. anaxa has notifications off, your have them on, and neither of you participate until absolutely necessary.
today, someone sends a meme about faculty budgeting. it evolves quickly into... something.
@ecologywillsurvive_vaelis: what if we held a bake sale for chalk
@anaxagorastheory: what.
@cai_NaOCl: maybe we should sell naming rights to the new ethics wing. welcome to the ‘crypto.com moral foundations lab’
@anaxagorastheory: if you sell naming rights to a lab about ethics i will personally remove my eye patch and stare into your soul.
@praxis[name]: we’ve talked about this, the patch stays on in public spaces
@praxis[name]: and cai i'm going to rename your organic chem wing to 'half baked molecule lounge' if you bring up the ethics wing again
@anaxagorastheory: i’m just saying. the thread of reason is fraying.
@praxis[name]: your self-control is fraying
@anaxagorasthery: say that in office hours.
@epiphany_uni_admin: hi everyone! just a reminder that this is a professional chat
Tumblr media
"you're late," you say without looking up from your laptop, fingers flying across the keyboard like you've been waiting specifically to outpace him.
"i was grading," anaxa responds, setting down a stack of painfully annotated printed philosophy 201 essays with a grimace. "your TAs let them write in first person and i nearly hemorrhaged."
"they’re freshmen, let them think they matter," you reply, finally glancing up at him.
"dangerous ideology for a praxis professor."
you hum. "dangerous man to say it."
Tumblr media
"you’re wearing my coat," anaxa notes when he opens his office door and finds you there.
you blink once. then, "i spilled tea on mine."
he steps aside to lt you in, utterly unsurprised.
"also," you add as your shrug the coat tighter. "yours smells nicer."
he doesn’t say anything for a moment.
"would it be weird if i told you i hope you spill more tea tomorrow?"
you smile, mischievous.
"depends where."
Tumblr media
"you always write in pen," your mutter, flipping through the latest draft of his paper with red ink bleeding into printed black. "only pen."
"i trust my convictions," anaxa replies, deadpan.
"you misspelled 'epistemological' three times after getting distracted by me."
"i was testing you."
"were you?" you ask, eyes narrowing. "you wrote 'epistomagical' at one point."
he shrugs, takes a sip from his coffee. it's black and bitter and you know he hates it.
you bite back a smile. "idiot."
"your handwriting is worse," he mutters. "at least i try."
"i write in runes," you say, prim.
"those are hearts above your i's."
"...runes of war."
Tumblr media
"do you always grade with red?" you ask, leaning over his desk, some random paper in hand that you forgot about long ago.
anaxagoras doesn't look up, "of course. red forces clarity. confrontation."
"you wrote 'source?' in all caps across a paragraph about love in greek tragedy."
"and?"
you smile, as if holding back laugter. "it was a quote. from you."
he looks up. slow. silent.
you set the paper down with calmness he swears one can only see in fiction.
"next time, check your own citations, professor."
Tumblr media
wednesdays are mostly alright. you walk into the staff lounge and there he is: anaxagoras. at the coffee machine. holding two cups.
"brewing double today?" you raise an eyebrow.
"i had to offer the students a choice," he says, pressing the start button. "do you want to study logic, or do you want to study… your soul?"
"you’re so terrible," you say with a sigh, taking the second cup from him. "you know no one really wants to study their soul?"
"not true," he replies, smiling smugly. "they want to study it, they just don’t know it yet."
he takes a sip of his coffee, watching you. you narrow your eyes.
"and what's this 'quiz' you’ve decided to torture them with?"
"it’s not a quiz. it’s a philosophical challenge," he says, moving to the small whiteboard. "i ask them to define their own existence without using ‘i think, therefore i am'.
"you’re evil," you raise an eyebrow.
"i'm not," he argues. "they tiktokified descartes!"
"they what?"
Tumblr media
anaxa finds a note slipped into his bag.
it’s folded on thick paper, smells like your hand cream.
in that unmistakable handwriting, hearts a constant above the i's like it's a love letter (maybe it is):
"you didn't have breakfast this morning, so i left a little something in your office
<3"
he stares at it for five minutes straight. then folds it again and tucks it into his coat pocket. the 'little something' ended up being a bento of salad and two bacon sandwiches.
he won’t ever admit it, but he carries it for the rest of the week (and he will absolutely not start mimicking your handwriting later).
Tumblr media
it's a faculty party. you're in black silk and sipping terrible wine. anaxa's next to you, lecturing someone on metaphysical paradoxes. again.
"you could’ve worn a bow tie," you murmur when he leans in.
he looks at you like he’s already undone. "and you could’ve worn less loud heels if you didn’t want me distracted."
your fingers pause on the stem of your glass. "hm. touché."
"that’s french."
"you speak french?"
he leans closer, "i learn languages for spite."
you lick your teeth to hide a grin. "is that how you learned to say je veux te baiser in the hallway last week?"
anaxa chokes on his wine.
Tumblr media
"you're in my office," he says, arms crossed, glasses half-lowered.
"your sign says 'office hours clpsed unless it's a crisis'. this," you say, dropping a thick bundle of papers on his desk, "is a crisis."
he glances down.
"this is… a peer review."
"your peer review. you cited a wikipedia page in a footnote."
anaxa doesn’t look even remotely sorry. "it was cited ironically."
"you teach epistemology, anaxagoras."
"and irony is a form of knowledge."
you blink. “oh my god. leave."
"it's my office."
"i don't care, leave."
Tumblr media
obvious enough, your offices share a wall (god bless the dean and the department chair). it’s the point of thus where, sometimes, you hear anaxa recite passages of obscure texts to himself aloud; sometimes in ancient languages.
today, it’s greek.
"…lógos eikós," he says. "reason is likely—"
"and so is the fact that your argument on practical virtue is still wrong," you call through the wall.
"it was metaphorical!"
"so is your whole career!"
you hear the sound of a book being thrown at the wall and smile.
Tumblr media
"you rearranged my bookshelves," you say flatly, arms crossed, eyebrow arched.
"i reorganized them by author. the fact that your copy of moral letters to lucilius was next to the hungry caterpillar is—"
"—educational range."
anaxagoras doesn't smirk, not really, just sips his coffee like it's the antidote to your nonsense.
"you’re impossible."
"and yet you still broke into my office to alphabetize my praxis."
"it was unlocked."
"it was not."
(it was.)
Tumblr media
anaxagoras gets sick and refuses to take time off. you physically remove him from the building.
"i’m fine," he rasps.
"you’re a hazard," you say, throwing his bag over your shoulder. "you coughed on three students and almost knocked over aristotle's bust in your auditorium.
he slumps into your car without protest. later, you make him him soup and read aloud from his own research while he’s half-asleep just to see if you can make him correct your pronunciation mid-fever. he does.
"you’re ridiculous," you murmur.
"you’re warm," he mumbles, drifting.
"i’m human."
"keep being that."
Tumblr media
@epiphanyconfessions
"i’m just saying. if prof [name] leaned over my desk the way she leans over prof anaxagoras’s desk i too would forget how to spell my own name"
@epiphanyconfessions
"anybody remember that one time she called him 'anaxagoras' during a rare joint lecture and he straightened up like a victorian man seeing ankle for the first time. someone sedate them."
@epiphanyconfessions
"i heard prof anaxa say ‘consent is the highest form of logic’ and i haven’t been the same since. like sir i just wanted to pass intro metaphysics please don’t take me apart like that"
you're the one who finds the twitter account. it's an automated bot which quite literally posts all the gossip in the university. unsurprisingly now, 70% of what you've seen include you and anaxa.p
you scroll for three minutes in silence, then turns your phone around so he can see it.
"i think your students are obsessed with me."
anaxa doesn't look a single bit impressed.
"well, at least i've managed to teach them something about attention to detail."
Tumblr media
you end up paired for the damn symposium panel because someone in admin has a cruel sense of humor.
"just be civil," the dean says, sipping bitter coffee as the two of you stand on either side of the projector.
"civil as in—" you start.
"no blood on the mic."
anaxagoras doesn't smirk, not quite, but there's a twitch of something near his mouth when he says "i'll keep my composure if she does."
"i never lose my composure," you shoot back.
his eyes go to your mouth. "you have. once."
your silence is thin and sharp and full of fuck yous that do not get spoken.
the dean groans. "if either of you fucks the other on the mic, i swear to god i'm retiring."
Tumblr media
you're walking out of the symposium together, the cold air catching your hair just right.
"they misquoted kant four times," he mutters, voice slightly hoarse
"only four?" you tease. "you’re mellowing."
"i’m trying not to ruin our evening."
"oh?" you glance at him. "are we having an evening?"
he stops walking and you take two steps before realizing he’s still behind you.
"…yes," he says. "if you want."
your expression warms without looking at him. "i do."
he doesn’t say anything else, just walks beside you the rest of the way, hands close, not touching.
Tumblr media
it's christmas eve and everyone’s a little tipsy in the lounge, even the department chair.
anaxa is holding a glass of deep red wine and trying not to react when you make a joke about morals and oral fixation in the same sentence.
later, outside under the garden lights, you speak.
"cai told me your students think we're sleeping together," you say, watching the breeze catch your own hair.
"we are."
"they suspect, anaxagoras."
"then they’re late to class."
you laugh, quiet and unguarded, the kind of laugh that makes his shoulders drop. he reaches out to fix the collar of his your coat.
"you're soft when you're smug," you murmur.
"you're smug when you're soft," anaxa retaliates.
"you’re in love with me."
"that too."
Tumblr media
youre both tired. the grading deadlines loom and the campus heating is out again.
"sit down," anaxa mutters, patting the seat next to him on the floor of his office.
"your carpet has chalk dust on it."
"so do your pants, professor."
you sigh as if you're bearing the weight of the world on your lone shoulders and sit.
there's no light in the office but the blue glow of his screen, and the soft static of the heater humming through the vents.
"i'm not rewriting the conclusion," you murmur, almost asleep on his shoulder.
"i know."
"but i miiight let you footnote me."
he hums, head tilting against yours. "if you do, i'll stop quoting you out of context."
"...maybe don't. i sound smarter when you do it."
"you are smart."
you hum, noncommittal. anaxa sighs.
Tumblr media
anaxagoras is having a deja vu; a really strong one.
you're seated across from each other at another faculty mixer (he complained about seeing too many people outside his lectures in the past three months on the way to this one). you're wearing black, sharp eyeliner, and a gold pin in the shape of a crescent. anaxa is halfway through a whiskey and trying very hard not to look impressed.
"you know they’re calling us ‘the debate club’?" you say, lazily stirring your drink. "it’s not flattering."
"they only say that because you get louder when you’re wrong."
"you’re still upset i said plato would’ve folded if someone gave him a nice handjob."
he tried to mask laughing with accidentally choking on his whiskey.
he definitely is having a deja vu. (he loves it with you.)
Tumblr media
you kiss once in the archives.
it’s a study break, technically.
you're sitting on the dusty desk. he’s standing between your legs. you're surrounded by books about love and logic and ancient epics, and you don’t speak about the copy of whatever book you were supposed to help him with looking for.
later, as you fix his messed up hair again for him, when he’s too flustered to do it straight, you murmur,
"you lose arguments better than anyone i've ever met."
he leans into your palm where it cups his jaw.
"i only lose to you."
"i hope so."
Tumblr media
he sees you grading in the courtyard and sits beside you, uninvited.
"your first-years are circulating a petition."
"ah. is it about the essay extension?"
"no. they want you and i to 'just publicly kiss already and not torture us anymore'. their words."
you don't pause your hand. "did you sign it?"
"...maybe."
Tumblr media
you're more often in his office than you're not.
"if we get caught—" he starts, breathless.
"it's your fault. stop kissing me like you’re too lazy to drive us home," you cut him off, sliding your hands into his hair.
"i’m not built for scandal," he breathes against your mouth.
"you’re wearing an eyepatch, anaxagoras."
"...it’s academic."
"so is this," you say tilting his head back, climbing into his lap as your hand loosens his tie. "let me study you."
Tumblr media
"you’ve been reading the same sentence for five minutes," he murmurs.
you don’t look up; your head is resting against your palm, pen slack between your fingers. "because it says 'therefore, subjectivity is inherently sus'."
anaxagoras blinks. "they submitted that in ink?"
"typed," you sigh. "with a footnote that just says 'as per amongus'."
he leans over, eyes scanning the page, then: "…expel them," flatly.
"i can’t expel them."
"i can."
"you teach philosophy, not moral hygiene."
"same thing, if you ask the right philosopher."
Tumblr media
you're sprawled on the old couch in his office, shoes off, his coat folded under your head, flipping through his notes. your eyes hurt. you flip the papers upside down.
"you really wrote a thirty-page rebuttal on the concept of divine intervention just because i said some gods might have been hot?"
"you said apollo could get it in front of our students."
"and you wrote a philosophical hitpiece," you counter.
"i cited my sources," anaxa grumbles, tired.
"you are absolutely insane."
"we're pretty much equal in terms of that, i believe."
Tumblr media
he brings you coffee exactly how you like it before every morning seminar. you make his lecture slides look presentable. you pass post-it notes through interdepartmental mail—yours are gold-trimmed, his are so painfully neat. once, someone intercepted one. it just said:
'you were right about that footnote. bring your smugness and your mouth to my office at five. i need to be convinced again.'
Tumblr media
you're reading in the living room. anaxa's half-asleep next to you, head on your lap, one hand absently tracing lazy circles on your thigh.
"what are you annotating now?" he murmurs.
"your latest essay."
"and?"
"you cited yourself fourteen times."
"i trust my sources."
you hum. "sure you do."
Tumblr media
"if we were set to constantly teach a class together," anaxa says quietly, "we’d probably get fired."
you yawn. "i think we’d start a cult."
"that too. if we didn't already."
a hum. “a sexy cult."
he laughs, soft and tired and you want to kiss him until your lips remember his skin for the rest of your life. "you’re the one who brings up sex every time we talk about curriculum."
"it’s integral to ethics and aesthetics."
"and not philosophy?"
"it is philosophy," you grumble. "do you talk about pleasure in your lectures?"
he pauses. "…not directly."
"coward."
he squeezes your hand. "i love you."
"i know," you say. "even if your syllabus doesn’t include eros."
he smiles into your hair. "next semester."

Armand is someone who has been has been trained (in brothels, by Marius, and by 500+ years worth of life experience) to adapt himself to what the people around him want. Throughout seasons 1-2, different people get very different versions of Armand, depending on who they are and who’s retelling the story at the time.
It’s the primary way Armand protects himself, whether he’s a teenage sex slave or the oldest, strongest person in the room. It’s how he controls people. Fundamentally, it’s the only way Armand knows to make people love him (an approximation of love at least). Worse, it’s the only way Armand knows how to love — by twisting and contorting himself into whatever form he thinks his current obsession wants or needs him to be. He even does it to his victims for crying out loud.
And then here’s Daniel, who is constantly seeking authenticity and truth. Who’s bullshit detector is never “off”. Who cannot tolerate any kind of masquerade, manipulation or lie – no matter how kind or well intentioned. Not out of any moral or ethical objection, but because Daniel simply cannot leave things well enough alone once something attracts his attention. He has to know. He has to see where it goes and how it ends.
“It’s my job, I’m built this way”
“It’s in your nature, Mr Molloy. Couldn’t get out the door without lobbing one more bomb.”
Daniel knew something was off about “Rashid” from the beginning, so he began to pick the situation in Dubai apart until Armand revealed himself. And then he kept going until he completely destroyed the narrative Armand had spent 77 years constructing.
Daniel deliberately and systematically pulled “Armand, Amadeo, Arun” apart and laid him bare with nothing but but a laptop, some free time, a near-suicidal disregard for his own personal safety and a mouth that just wouldn’t quit.
There’s power in being seen, in being known, ugly parts and all. What would it feel like, to be completely exposed like that for the first time in centuries?
So yeah it makes sense to me that Armand, who puts on all these acts and artifices to draw people in, but which only serve to ensure they’re kept at a distance, would turn his big sad orange eyes on the person who blew them all to smithereens and be all “…I wanna do this forever, actually.”

Tumblr media
The fundraiser season was upon you — an event your college went a little crazy for every year and as a new member of the cheer squad, it was a main part of your duty to join in with the festivities.
A proposition of a kissing booth, shyly put forward by yourself had become a hit amongst the rest of the cheerleaders that they instantly approved of — most of them, at least. It was all in good spirit to raise money for charity.
And so wanting to gather hype around the event — one you had tirelessly worked day and night to put together — you and your best friend, Sharon, volunteered to hand out fliers together. The two of you wandered aimlessly around the courtyard in your team uniform to spread the word.
“I think this is going to be really good, sweet,” Sharon excitedly spoke over her shoulder as she stapled a flier onto the notice board. “I checked our hashtag on the school's twitter page this morning and we’re already trending.”
Your eyes widened and you spun your head towards her in shock. “Really?” Whipping out your phone from your skirt pocket, you quickly brought up the app and checked the post — already the most anticipated fundraiser of the night. “That was fast!”
“Mhm,” she mumbled, nodding her head. Slyly, she looked over at you from the corner of her eye. “I bet you’re excited about all those hot and sweaty football players who are gonna be lining up for a kiss.”
Your head snapped up from your phone with your mouth parted, struggling to scold her. “Sharon!” you squealed.
“What?” The smirk on her face was all too teasing for your liking. “You know most of them are gonna be desperate for a small piece of you, sweets.”
Your cheeks grew warm, an embarrassed heat growing up your neck as you stumbled over your words. “N-No I don’t think so—“
“C’mon babe.” Sharon stopped what she was doing and cocked her hip towards you with a raised eyebrow. “You really don’t see the boys practically drooling over you?”
Honestly, you didn’t see it. Spending most of your time practicing your routines or studying in the library, there was no time to worry about boys and you didn’t have much experience within the relationship department anyway, which made you blind to any advances.
“Even if they did, they’re not my type.” You shrugged, not giving in to the disbelieving expression on Sharon’s face. “I’m serious! I’m just not into that.”
“Okay, sure—whatever you say.” Your friend playfully taunted you with a smile until her gaze locked onto something behind you. A small frown appeared on her lips and a not-so-subtle sneer lined her cheeks. “Just so long as it isn’t them, for fucks sake—the last thing you need is an asshole like that.”
Spinning around, you squinted your eyes, looking for whoever Sharon was talking about. A group of students, dressed collectively in hoodies, leather jackets and combat boots were gathered around the bike sheds with a cloud of smoke billowing over their heads.
“What’s wrong with them?” you asked inquisitively, genuinely stumped for her dismay.
“Trust me, sweets. You don’t want to get wrapped up with those people. They’ll fucking eat you up and spit you back out,” Sharon replied.
Leaning on your tiptoes, you spotted a familiar face in the crowd. “Well, what about Wanda? She’s with them and she’s not an asshole.”
Your friend seemed to struggle to come up with an answer to your question. “That’s different. She’s part of our squad and she’s actually nice.”
That didn’t appease you, though. “Couldn’t that mean the others are nice, too?”
Sharon was protective, fierce to those she loved and held dear. She had befriended you the day you bumped into each other on the field for practice; when your eyes were holding back tears after Daisy, the second in command cheerleader, made a remark with her friends about how on earth you had managed to be accepted onto the team.
Since then, the two of you have been glued at the hip — like sisters you dared to think. Her advice was gospel to you and so you took her word seriously. “Sweetie, they’re no good. Just trust me.”
“Okay,” you sighed as you turned back around. A solemness took over as you remembered that you had been benched to the sidelines for your very own event. “I don’t actually think I’ll be working the booth anyway. Daisy said she only needs me on clean up duty.”
Sharon’s body suddenly tensed with aggravation.
“Excuse me?” Her eyes were burning with fury as she turned to look at you. “Daisy said what now?”
“T-That I have to clean up?” you offered once again unsure.
Your friend scoffed. “She can’t do that—she has no fucking right to do that. You came up with the idea!”
The intensity of her anger, even when not directed at you, was overwhelming and your eyes darted down while you mumbled disheartenedly, “I know but what can I do? What she says goes.”
The fire in Sharon’s eyes was unlike anything else as she went on a tirade of rage — her own dislike for Daisy getting the better of her.
You zoned out of the conversation, not wanting to dwell on the upset Daisy’s disapproval of you caused. Instead, you counted the rest of your fliers, satisfied to at least have made progress for the day.
Just as you were about to jump back into the heated conversation, laughter behind you caught your attention. While Sharon was busy brewing in her hatred, you glanced over your shoulder to once again look at the group you had become so intrigued by.
The colourful paper in your hand, rustling together with the slight breeze drew you to look at them. You only had a few fliers left and you knew Daisy would have something to say if you came back with them.
A lightbulb dinged in your mind. Your head snapped up; your whole face lit up with the prospect to gain a wider audience for your event.
Sharon’s voice became clear then. “I can’t believe she even has the audacity when she’s not even the head cheerleader. Such a stuck up bi—“
“We still have fliers left!” you interrupted your friend mid sentence, feigning shock as though you had only just noticed. She stopped talking and frowned while you began to walk backwards. “M-Maybe I should just head over there to hand them out. We do need all the people we can get after all.”
Looking behind you, the direction of your steps, her eyes widened once she saw where you were going. “Sweets—,” she warned, as though she was talking to an animal ready to run. “Come back here, please.”
But there was no use; you had already spun around and started skipping on over. “Hey—Wait! Get back here you little shit!”
The pleats of your skirt bounced along with you while you giggled, your shoes scuffing along the pavement until you stopped in front of the large group. With the little confidence you had, you cleared your throat before squeaking your greeting over the loudness. “Hi!”
Instantly, conversation amongst everyone died down, every single person turning their head to you. A pin drop could be heard over the busy courtyard.
The amount of beady eyes, all wondering who had interrupted them, caused an overwhelming anxiety to fester in your stomach. Regret soon sank in as what small bout of bravery you once had soon whittled away once you gained their attention.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you were sure everyone heard your gulp before you forced yourself to speak.  “I—I um, just wanted to—to hand these out.” Your hands shook as you held the vibrant fliers up — the red and pinks contrasting to the sea of black and greys staring you down like prey. “For our fundraiser cel-celebration.”
The awkwardness dragged on in the silence and your skin crawled with nerves. This was a terrible idea. Sharon was right, you should have never come over and instead listened to her. But you were soon pulled from your inner turmoil.
A brooklyn drawl, raspy yet smooth cut through the deafening stillness at the same time a tall figure stood up in the crowd, whistling low as he feasted on you. “Well ain’t you the prettiest lil’ thing, hoppin’ on over in your short skirt.”
It was difficult, even in the daylight, to make out the face of this stranger; long shaggy brown hair, hidden behind a hood. Even partly elusive, you had never seen anyone like him before, but you couldn’t deny the tingles that shot up your arms and made the fine hairs stand on edge.
His thick-soled boots, covered in buckles that jingled with each step, thudded menacingly along the concrete while he made his way over to you. And as the sun hit his face just right, that’s when you saw his eyes, bright blue and sparkling; giving attention to his silver nose ring.
You were held to your spot, breathless and squirming. Though you tampered yourself as he drew closer and finally came before you, one step away from touching your toes. “So, what’s this you got planned, sweet thing?”
A gruff blonde with cropped hair and a sleeveless denim jacket snorted behind him, a thick scruffy beard decorating his face. “Go easy on her, punk.”
The stranger that had you a little starstruck brought himself even closer — within an inch of you — crossing his arms behind his back and squinting curiously to look directly into your eyes, a gleam in his own.
You were intoxicated by the smell of leather and smoke, a combination that should have made you feel sick and yet rendered you dizzy with heat. The spell he bound you with held you in a deep trance. “A kissing booth,” you whispered timidly.
“Oh?” He grinned wide, a huff of fresh mint from the gum he was chewing combined with his aroma. “A kissing booth, you say?”
“It’s for charity.” You licked your lips with hesitation. “You—um—you pay for a ticket and in return a girl of your choosing from the team can k-kiss you—“ A sudden thought that you had no idea who you were talking to stopped you from continuing and you shook your head apologetically. “I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name.”
The man in front of you smirked, sinister and perverse. His eyes darted between your own while you trembled, close to breaking a sweat. “You can call me Bucky, sweetheart,” he replied, smoothly.
Murmurs and quiet chatter from the rest of Bucky’s friends picked up while he took you in, his eyes clinging to the bare skin of your thighs, barely covered by your cheer skirt.
You began to introduce yourself, too. “My name is—“
“Oh, I know who you are.” The corner of his lips curled up while he dragged his eyes lazily up your body. “I’ve seen how you move. The twirls and spins and shit, lookin’ all cute.”
“Y-You have?” you asked in shock, surprised to find he was already familiar with you.
“Mm, I’ve heard all about you.” He nodded, before cocking his head behind him. To your surprise, you looked and found your squad mate, Wanda, who threw you a sly wink. Your attention was brought back to Bucky, gliding his pierced tongue across his pearly white teeth. “A cute bunny showing off her tricks is kinda hard to miss.”
His presence was all too intimidating, but one of the sweetest addictions you knew would give you an all time high. You couldn’t keep still, switching your weight between you feet as subtly as you could possibly manage. Opening your mouth, you readied yourself to respond until Bucky’s eyes flicked to your side.
An all too out of breath Sharon, weary eyed and scary looking stormed towards you. Uncaring for your new friend, she stood in front of him, blocking his view while her hands grasped your upper arms to check you over. “Sweetie! Are you okay?”
The strenuous effort to tear your eyes away from Bucky was almost impossible. “Mhm,” you mumbled noncommittally, finally able to bring your gaze to Sharon. “I’m okay.”
Leaning to the side, Bucky caught your eyes once again as he asked. “Will you be workin’, sweetheart?”
Confusion fogged up your mind, disorientated as your eyes played tennis between him and your best friend. “I’m sorry?”
“The kissing booth.” He reiterated, standing straight to pluck the cigarette tucked behind his ear. Those damned eyes never left you while he placed it between his lips and grabbed a light from his back jean pocket. “Will you be workin’ it?”
“Oh!” You shook your head, trying to get out of your daze as he lit his cigarette. “I—um—I don’t know. I don’t think so. Technically?” Nerves made you ramble on. “I’m sort of working—but I won’t be near the booth and—”
Stepping forward, Bucky gently pushed Sharon out the way. “Hey!” she huffed, glaring at him. But he ignored her in favour of closing the distance between the two of you.
He placed his thumb over your lips, effectively silencing you as he took a drag of his smoke and blew it out to the side of you with a smirk. “You’ll be there, Bunny.” Your eyes fluttered when he chucked your chin and winked. “Make sure of it and you won’t regret it.”
Struggling to come down from floating in the clouds, you almost whined as he teased his finger along your neck when he stepped back — his chilled rings lit your nerves on fire. You stared hopelessly after him as he started to walk backwards away from you to his friends.
“I’ll bring some of these fuckers too!” he shouted over the growing distance between you, gracing you with one last grin. “Good for business and all.”
You sighed, a love-sickening one that caused your friend to roll her eyes. Sharon clicked her fingers in your face, snapping you out of your haze. “Sweets!”
You shook your head and your hooded eyes darted over to her. “Huh?”
Sharon grabbed your shoulders, a firm scolding ready on her lips. “Listen to me,” she implored. “You need to stay away from him. He’s bad news.”
You swallowed, unable to help the flicker of your eyes back to Bucky, watching as he threw his head back while he laughed, his full head of long hair framing his face beautifully.
Sharonl cleared her throat pointedly and you snapped back to her, a guilty expression to your features. “Okay?” she reiterated.
You begrudgingly nodded, and she sighed, seemingly appeased for now. Looping her arms through yours, she pulled you away and began to speak about your fundraiser once more.
When once, incessant talk and arrangement of the kissing booth would have spilled from your lips, you held quiet; basking in whatever the hell had just happened.
It was impossible to stop yourself from looking over your shoulder once more. To catch a final peek of Bucky, and your heart jumped as you caught his steel eyes already focused on you. Glancing back to Sharon, she was in her own world, already deep into discussion about decorations.
Discreetly, you turned around, happy to find Bucky’s gaze still reciprocated and so you waved, small enough to not catch your friend’s attention. You held back a squeal, fighting to stave off the bubble in your throat that was desperate to escape when he brought his inked hand up to his mouth and blew you a kiss.
Tumblr media
It was a couple of days later while you were grabbing your books for your next class when you next saw Bucky. Earlier than expected but not at all in the way you imagined.
You were at your locker, reaching to the back for that one annoying book that always seemed to hide from you. Your back was turned to the busy corridors, other students passing by as your fingertips ghosted along the textbook you needed when the feel of someone’s hand groping your ass caused you to jump in fright.
Spinning around in shock, you came face to face with an all too pleased Tony Stark — the school’s rich playboy. “Hey, sweet cheeks.”
The sleazy grin he donned made you feel queasy, but to avoid confrontation, you instead laughed nervously, hiding your discomfort. “Um, h-hi, Tony.”
He leaned his arm over your head against the lockers, trapping you in with no way to escape. “How haven’t I noticed you before, hm? Nothing better than some fresh meat on the cheerleading team.”
Beginning to squirm, you shifted away as best as you could with hardly any distance between you — the unease you felt clear from your expression. “Excuse me—I’m sorry—you’re just—a little too close—“
“Let me take you out tonight,” he interrupted, careless to your lack of comfortability. “I’ll show you a real good time.”
Alarm bells started to ring in your head. The fact that he had touched you without permission in such a crowded place and continued to ignore your requests unsettled you deeply.
You looked around frantically, trying to silently scream for help. But no one batted an eyelid to your situation.
“Tony,” you quietly said, not wanting to cause a scene. “I’m not interested and I’ve really got to go—“
“Don’t be a prude, babe.” A lump tightened in your throat as Tony pawed at your waist, his clammy fingers digging into you harshly. “It’s not a good look on you.”
Fear clouded your ability to shout out. Sharon wasn’t there to be your knight in shining armor like usual and you clawed down your cries as best as you could. To your dismay, tears began to gather over your waterline. “Please. Just—just move back and we can talk—“
“It’s okay,” he whispered against your neck. “Just say yes and I’ll take care of you.”
Closing your eyes tight, you willed for him to leave you alone, your fingernails digging into your palms so hard they created indents into your skin. His breath against your neck made you desperately want to crawl out of your skin, his unwanted touch and proximity more of a burden than a compliment.
You were rendered useless, weak. His heavy weight pinned you down to the lockers and left you unmoving. Overwhelmed, your breathing started to become erratic, panicked and just as you thought you couldn’t take it any longer, Tony’s presence disappeared and the air rushed back to your lungs.
A loud commotion sounded on the other side of the hallway, but the blur of it all was disabling. It took you a while to gather the courage to squint your eyes open and once your vision became clear, you gasped at the sight of Bucky slamming Tony against the other side of the lockers, holding him up by his shirt with an unparalleled fury in his darkened eyes.
“B-Barnes!” Tony squeaked in shock. “Heyy there, take it easy big guy—“
Bucky jolted him brutally another time. “What the fuck do you think you’re doin’ to her?” he growled, venom in his voice and a tone that held no room for humour.
Tony laughed, apprehensively. “C’mon man, we were just having some fun.”
Disgust was clearly visible on Bucky’s face as he reeled back, only serving to make him angrier. “Fun?” he scoffed. “You think it’s fun bein’ a fuckin’ creep? She told you no.”
Soon enough, a mob of students had gathered around the commotion, filming with their phones and whispering amongst themselves in anticipation for a fight.
You watched as Tony’s cheeks flared red, the embarrassment of being so easily overpowered by Bucky in front of the whole school paralysing him when his eyes suddenly shot to you, a vein bulging from his forehead.
You cowered back as much as possible, covering your body with your arms while he spat, “Are you fucking kidding me? She—she wants it! Look at her! The bitch is practically begging for it in that skirt.”
There was a stilted pause, a deathly quiet over the hallway before a chilling laugh echoed from Bucky. “You’re gonna fuckin’ regret that.”
A flock of shouts and cheers bounced off the lockers as Bucky threw Tony to the ground. Without remorse, he grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt before he tried to desperately crawl away and pummeled him to the floor with a single punch, the silver rings on his fingers cutting the skin of Tony’s cheek and smothering blood over his face.
You winced as you heard Tony’s pleas for mercy as Bucky continued to lay into him. The sight should have worried you — Sharon’s previous warnings clear as day in your head — but your thighs rubbed together instead, an ache between them leaving you equal parts aroused and concerned.
The one sided fight seemed to be over within seconds. Bucky stopped, letting Tony flop to the floor, gifted with an instantaneous black eye and most likely broken nose.
Stepping over his body, Bucky squatted down, a grave warning grunted as his chest rose and fell with adrenaline. “If you ever talk about Bunny like that again, or even look at her.” He paused, laughing sadistically. “Who am I fuckin’ kiddin’? If you dare breathe the same air as her again, I won’t be so fuckin’ kind next time.” The humour died from his tone within seconds. “Are we clear?”
When he didn’t hear a response from Tony, he forcefully kicked his boot into the side of his ribs. “I said, are we clear?”
“Y-Yes! Yes—please—we’re clear!” Tony coughed out a quick reply, the pain in his voice evident.
Satisfied, Bucky swept his long hair back from his face and stood up. He caught his breath for a moment, hands on his hips as the students watched on, just as mesmerised as you.
But he paid them no attention as he suddenly brought his gaze over to your direction. He had no trouble finding you as he towered over the crowd and they immediately parted the way for him while he strode towards you.
You held your breath when he reached you and immediately cradled your face with his hands — his delicacy while he handled you compared to Tony stunned you. He wiped the remaining tears away with his thumbs as he looked at you with concern. “Angel, are you okay?”
It took you a while to respond, still reeling from the previous events. “I—I think so,” you stuttered, though not from fear of Tony anymore.
Bucky’s hands gently fell down to your waist, the cutout of your uniform allowing him to touch your bare skin. “Don’t worry, baby. I’ll make sure he—“
As he lightly squeezed your hips, you inhaled sharply, a shoot of pain radiating through your body.
Bucky instantly stopped in his tracks and quickly lifted his hands, only to find bruises in the shape of fingertips staining your skin. A dark cloud fell over his cerulean eyes. “That fucker,” he growled, turning to shoot daggers at Tony’s form still crouched on the floor. “I’m gonna kill him.”
Before Bucky could lunge back at him, you grabbed at his arms, a desperate need to keep him close. “No!” you cried, waiting until he whipped his head back round to you as you pleaded, “Please stay with me.”
His gaze flicked back to your bruise, confliction locking up his muscles. “Bunny, he fuckin’ marked you. No way am I lettin’ him get away with that shit—“
You grabbed his hand and began dragging him along, away from everyone still lingering and staring at the two of you. “Please, Bucky?”
The fury dissolved from his features, your sweet request too difficult to ignore. “Okay,” he sighed, following you blindly as you led him into an empty storage closet.
Locking the door behind you, you turned the light switch on. There was limited proximity between you in the tight space, but Bucky seemed to have no qualms being so close to you.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, diverting your eyes away from him and fidgeting with the hem of your skirt.
You didn’t see the confusion on Bucky’s face, how perplexed he was for your apology. “Bunny,” he called for you, waiting until you looked at him. “What in the fuck have you got to be sorry for?”
Your breaths started to come in heavy, lips trembling as you tried to hold your tears back. “I didn’t—I didn’t mean to—to cause a fight,” you sniffled. “I shouldn’t have been wearing my uniform and—“
“Hey,” Bucky cut you off, stern and resolute. His fingers sweeped your hair out of your face gently. “You did absolutely nothin’ wrong, you hear me?”
Your eyes darted down, however he was quick to catch your chin with his forefinger and thumb. “Look at me.”
With glassy eyes, you did just that, reluctant but submissive to his order.
Bucky wrapped his hand around the back of your neck, his thumb running back and forth soothingly, “Don’t you ever apologise for that shit.” His blue eyes bore into your soul. “I beat the shit out of that fucker because he deserved it. No one talks to you like that and gets away with it. You understand, baby?”
Timidly, you nodded your head. “Mhm.”
“I mean it.” He reiterated, determined to make you see sense.
You weren’t convinced, Bucky could tell. Delicately, he smoothed his free hand over your waist. “Besides,” he shrugged his shoulders, a teasing smile crawling onto his face. “My Bunny looks fuckin’ hot in her uniform.”
Heat began to creep up your neck and a nervous giggle escaped from your lips. The anxious knot that had built in your stomach slowly began to unravel in Bucky’s presence.
“There she is.” He stroked your bottom lip with his thumb. “C’mon, sweetheart you’ve gotta know how fuckin’ good you look in that outfit, waving your pom poms and puttin’ on a show.”
“You’ve watched me?” Your breathing picked up.
“Course I fuckin’ have. Knew you were somethin’ special when Wanda mentioned you.”
You relaxed into his hold, melting from his touch. However, from the corner of your eye, a flicker of dark red running down from his hand down to his wrist caught your attention.
You gasped, grabbing his hand and turning it to get a better look at the damage to his knuckles. “Bucky! You’re bleeding!”
He raised his eyebrows, a little surprised to see he was in fact bleeding. Laughing it off, he tried to ease your worries. “Ah sweetheart—it’s nothin’. Don’t even worry about it—“
“Like hell I won’t!” The unexpected fire in your voice stunned Bucky as his eyebrows rose in shock. Thinking on your toes, you spun around towards the shelves. “Let me find something.”
While you were busy rummaging through storage boxes, you missed the heated glint in his eyes and the subtle squeeze of his own dick through his denim pants.
You searched until you found an unopened pack of bandages along with some ointment cream. Softly, you took his hand over to the old sink in the corner and began washing the dried up blood staining his skin.
Bucky watched intently while you gently cleaned him up, your tongue stuck out between your lips as you wrapped the bandage around his knuckles in concentration.
“There. Good as new.” You smiled happily with your work and without thinking, you carefully lifted his damaged hand up to your lips to kiss over the bandage.
The realisation of how bold your action was finally caught up to you. With caution, your eyes flitted up expecting the worst. However, your mouth slightly dropped open as you noticed the wicked glint in his eyes while he stared you down like a wolf. “You’re just precious, ain’t you, angel?”
You didn’t have the chance to respond as Bucky spun you around and cornered you against the wall. You should have felt as vulnerable as you did with Tony, but you only whimpered with curious delight as tingles shot down your spine.
Your noses bumped together when Bucky moved in even closer, lips so close to touching. “This okay, Bunny?”
Fighting off a shudder, you quickly nodded without hesitation. “Yes.”
He chuckled breathily. “I haven’t stopped fuckin’ thinking about you.”
Common sense seemed so far from reality as you closed your eyes and rested your head back against the wall. His scent dizzied you, his whole presence threw you for a loop. How the hell had he gotten into your system in such a short span of time?
“You know I’d kill anyone who tried to touch you like that don’t you, baby?” Your fingers tangled into the lapels of Bucky’s leather jacket while his soft lips teased yours. “No one else can have you. You were mine since I laid eyes on you.”
“Oh—Bucky.” Just as wrecked as you, he began to lean in and you closed your eyes in anticipation for his kiss. All he had to do was push forward, connect the remaining distance and claim you.
But to your luck, the school bell for the beginning of class rang loud through the hallway. Sense came back to you then. Opening your eyes, you quickly untangled yourself out of Bucky’s hold.
You half-expected him to be annoyed, but instead he had the biggest grin on his face, almost predatory.
Skittishly you started to walk backwards towards the exit of the storage closet. “I—um,” you began. “I need to go—go to my class.”
Bucky smirked even wider while he combed his ringed fingers through his messy hair and then slid his hands into his pockets. “Mhm,” he mumbled devilishly.
“I’ll s-see you around?” You offered, lamely while you fumbled with the handle of the door. Your nerves built even higher when he started to stalk towards you and the simple task of opening the door seemed impossible.
“You sure will, Bunny.” Bucky gained closer, a couple of steps away from you when you finally managed to swing the door open with urgency.
Hurriedly, you excited the closet, breathing heavily. But you shrieked as you collided into another person. Turning around to apologise, your words died on your tongue when you found the person you had bumped into was none other than Sharon.
“Sweets?” she asked, instantly concerned at your flustered state. “What’s wrong? Did something happen—“
Then, her eyes glanced behind you, a scowl appearing on her face while a disheveled Bucky exited the same closet you just stumbled out of.
You gulped as her fierce gaze shot to you. “I can explain.”
“We’re having a serious talk.” Once again, Sharon dragged you away from Bucky and you fought to keep up to pace with her.
You felt like a child being pulled away from their favourite toy. Bucky was trouble, that much you knew. But of course, you couldn’t help but look over your shoulder — a common occurrence it seemed — and you also couldn’t help the grin that crept onto your face as you watched him wiggle his fingers at you in goodbye with a wink.
Trouble had never looked better — with horns and a tail that could make heaven’s most loyal angel want to sin.

Ethical dilemma
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Therapist!ellie (read part 2 here)
CW: smut, MDNI, dom!ellie, bratsub!reader, sexual tension is fuckin palpable, blindfold, hypnosis, walked through orgasm, talks of masturbation, mutual pining but there’s laws oh no!, no y/n, no pdor
A/N: I fear this is so self-indulgent I will not be elaborating
X
“Highly unethical,” the auburn haired woman gives a small laugh, standing from her seat to walk you out as she always did. You’d asked about the details of the girl you see in her waiting room after you every Thursday. Dr. Williams was not privy to your sexual endeavors that came from her own hands…well her office for this manner.
She was a good therapist, best you’d ever had truly. Sure she understood all the lesbian lingo, formalities and functions that didn’t need to be gaysplaned to an unfortunate witness. But it felt as if she truly understood you, had a true knack to play out your actions before you ever thought of them. It was her job to fix your fuckups, not predict them.
She felt it, when you changed. How much thicker the air got, how she could slice it with her knife. The way your body expanded in her chair shifted, opening your chest for sight. Your gaze started to only focus on her, directed, pointed even, letting your lips open. When you started drawling out moments of your sexual endeavors down to every touch, how you tried to read her as she read you. You tried to make her crack, see any sense of appeal, to which she responded akin to a brick fucking wall.
Hell she knew your ‘new hookup’ was a sham, you were just dying to plead to her how unsatisfied ‘she’ left you. She knew the person you were, she knew you best after all, didn’t she now? You’d never stay, and she clocked it.
But she played your game, nodding along, letting you babble about all the times you had to finish yourself off afterwards.
She’d let herself have that, the pleasure of thought, the images of your panting breath, dry fingers, and cracked lips. In another life she’d agree to help you out, fix your ache. But Ellie was an ethical woman, level-headed, and morally sound, this was not her circus to corral.
She’d just remind you to focus on yourself, in whatever form that came.
‘Tell me to fuck myself’ you’d pray in your mind, begging for a mere innuendo from her, anything to use for later. You wished she’d talk you through it, and she would, in another life.
The entire time you’re rambling on she’d think of the ways she would walk you through it, praising you for how good you were doing, how beautiful you looked messy and broken down just for her. But a respected woman has limitations, rules, structures built exiling that from her will, “is there a reason you keep going back to her? Even though you don’t feel satisfied?”
“I need it,” you remark frankly, desire white hot that ate away at your skin like a bad infection.
“You need sex?” Ellie questions, her eyes forming into a squint as her head cocks. She cant seem to write this down, engulfed by your blatant admission.
“Don’t we all doctor…don’t you?” came out utterly direct, shifting your weight to your forearms that now rested on your thighs that allowed your blouse to reveal the peaks of your breasts. Maybe you were trying to intimidate her, and maybe it worked.
“This isn’t about me,” she said, but not what she thought, and you clocked it. The way her teeth drew in her bottom lip, the furrow of her brows, busying her gaze down to her blank paper. Never mustering up a reason to record your sessions, what was she to say? Lines blurring to an extent that shouldn’t allow you to still be here.
“But isn’t it?” you dart back, a grin easing up your lips, equally as maniacal as it was sensual. A pleading request for her to sink her teeth into, to rip the flesh from bone.
She should have asked you to never return, refer you to another doctor. Suddenly so aware of her surroundings, breaking herself from your delusions, “thats time, I’ll walk you out,” but she couldn’t, giving you a pitied smile, standing from her chair.
-
“Id like to try something new today,” Ellie says, an air of hesitancy rings through your ears.
“You going to reveal the skeletons in your closet Doctor?” You say in a teasing manner, crossing your legs in your usual spot, but Ellie remained standing.
A glimmer of a smirk forming on her lips, “have you heard of hypnotherapy?”
“First a doctor, now a magician what a pay drop,” you snide.
“Do you trust me?”
She had you lie on her couch, uncharted territory, too spacious for comfort, for rules and barriers, “now close your eyes for me,” Ellie remarks, seated on top of the coffee table, inches from the couch.
“what if I cant keep them closed, will I fuck up the juju?” you say peeping at her with one eye.
“I have a bandana-“ knowing you’ll cut in with your sexual advances she cuts off your process, “-for hypnosis, would you like that?”
You tie the black cloth around your eyes, cutting off the essential sense, suddenly so aware of your body. Feeling the tips of your fingers, the race of your heart, beating the blood to your veins.
“Tell me what you see,” the doctor pries, watching your open mouth, the way it releases at her words. The steady rise and fall of your chest, the control she had over your undirected weight.
“its just me.”
“Where are you?”
“I- I don’t know, it’s white everywhere,” Your senses so heightened, feeling the breath as it escapes your throat.
“What are you feeling,” Ellie says palming her hands, eager to break you down. The desire the scale the walls of your mind.
“Frustrated,” your breath beginning to shorten, that eery feeling creeping back into your bones.
“what else?”
“it hurts- hurts so bad” the burning to be satiated, body still yet so charged.
“Whats making it hurt?” Ellie could help, ease your killing wounds. Would she, or would she watch as you wilt like a flower in the beating sun?
“I cant fix it, it wont stop,” you pant out, sweat dripping down the valley of your chest.
“Are you touching yourself?” she leaps, walking the tight rope as a foot slips.
“yes-yes,” your mouth agape, fists balling into a white grip at your sides.
“You need to finish, don’t you?” she revels in your pain, the unstilted need.
“I need you,” you corrupt, breaking the thin layer of morals that stood between you and your desires.
“Im there with you, aren’t I always?” she taunts, voiding herself of her principles. Allowing herself to play into her horrors, you were merely a symbol of prey.
“Please-“ you breathe out, on the cusp of release at the expense of her mercy. Blood running hot as your cunt pulses untouched.
Bringing her mouth to the edge of your face, you feel her breathe through your body, breaking through your flesh.
Ever so softly, “let me satisfy you.”

Tim meeting Lex at a gala when he’s young. and becoming gossip besties with him
i finally wrote it after it infesting my brain enjoy
——————-
Tim thought the gala was going to be like most of the others, boring, annoying, nothing happening. And then he saw Lex Luthor. And he's a smart man, probably the only other smart person in here so why not start a conversation?
Lex thought this gala was going to be boring and a waste of time. And then this small child comes up to him talking about gossip that he didn't even know? And mentioning his incredibly secret cloning project he just started a week ago? He's going to be a villain and Lex wants to be on his good side.
————————
Tim sighed, annoyed. Gala's have always been incredibly boring, the only slightly fun things that happen at them have been either Bruce Wayne "tripping" over something and drenching someone else with whatever drink or liquid is near, or overhearing gossip, such as Robert Dewitt cheating on his wife with his brother. That was a fun day.
This gala is looking to be about the same as always, just even more boring. Bruce Wayne isn't attending (understandable, The Joker just broke out of Arkham again. He's sure there's a cover story for why Bruce isn't here but he doesn't care about that), no one is drawing attention to any scandals yet, or at least not in his ear range.
The only vaguely interesting thing here is Lex Luthor actually attending it for once. The man usually never spares a moment for anything aside from Metropolis (disgusting) and Superman. So there's at least one other smart person here but he also happens to be a super-villain (not that the general public knows) so… Not like Tim can just walk up to him and talk right?
"So as I was saying it really is quite unfortunate that your son won't take the company, I always thought he was a rather charming young man-" Fuck it Tim's gonna go talk to the super-villain.
"Have you heard about Rebecca Strawling?" Tim asks Lex, who absolutely did NOT jump at this child sneaking up behind him (seriously how did he do that? Even Superman, a man who constantly floats, can't sneak up on him.). Lex blinks for a second because, yes he had and holy shit what a thing that is, and also how does this child know? Also why is this child talking to him?
"That… Depends. What have you heard?" Lex says hesitantly. Despite Rebecca's… everything, she still hid it incredibly well. If Lex wasn't so bored at these gala's he would never have known, so either this child is just incredibly nosy, or possibly an actual smart person in this room. Either option would prove far more interesting than what he had been doing.
"Well I've heard about the several affairs she's had with everyone she claims to hate. Business rivals, the poor, queer people, her husband's family, and if it's to be believed her own family." And… Holy fuck, Lex had not been aware of that last bit. He raises an eyebrow at the ending which prompts a slight grin from the child as he takes his phone out. "I have evidence."
Does Lex actually… Enjoy being near a kid barely in the double digits? Absurd.
"You know Tim, that man over there? He's almost bankrupting his company and family by sending their money to a 'client.' I believe all his business partners are looking for someone to replace his spot." It's been an hour and a half. This is the most entertained Lex has been at one of these in decades. If Tim finds himself following the black hair, blue eyes orphan trend Lex will take him in himself so help him God. He's insanely smart, not only is he excellent at reading people and finding dirt on them easily, he's incredibly skilled at hacking without any proper training on it. This is a villain in the making and Lex will not let himself fall on his bad side.
"Now, I have a moral question for you Tim. What do you think the ethics on making a weapon out of a clone would be?" He's been toying with the idea of cloning Superman lately, however the actual… Making it a weapon has been bothering him. If it comes out an adult man it could easily decide it wants to do something else and rebel, however what would the effects be on making a child weapon that was created for that sole purpose? The effectiveness of it?
"Easy. Don't make the clone a weapon. It's either an adult clone who could choose to be a soldier, and actually listen to you, or decide it won't listen and possibly end up exposing you. If it's a child clone then sure you get a weapon for a few years but not having a choice would end up making them resent you. Give them a choice on it, just like the Sidekicks, like Robin, Kid Flash, Speedy, all them. I'd assume you would want a meta clone anyway and most meta's feel a sense of duty with their abilities so it'd be likely for them to decide something along what you want. Just a matter on if they like you and go with you, or turn to the other side." Tim answers without missing a beat and wow what a concerning sentence that would be to hear from a child if he were anyone else. As it is he's delighted by the response.
"Although cloning a Kryptonian would probably alter it, simply wouldn't get enough material so you would likely have to substitute some of the material for human and at that point use your own and raise the clone as a child." What. That's far too specific. "Oh, sorry I probably should've kept it more broad. Anyway you should update your security systems." Definitely a super-villain in the making. One that he very much wants to be on the good side of. On that note now he needs to update his whole system.
"Ah, Tim I'm glad you picked up. I'm a father now! I'd like you to meet my son, his name is Kon-El-"
"Oh, I've already met him. You actually interrupted our call. Kinda late on telling me." Of course.
"You know I could adopt you as well, get you from that bumbling buffoon that is Wayne."
"Yeah but then my crush would become incestuous." His what? Know what he can work with this. Tim is joining his family one way or another.
Finally. A moment of peace for Lex to sit down, drink some coffee, and watch a rerun of his favorite show. "Luthor!" Oh great, the boy scout here to ruin his plans. Oh and is that his group for comic-con? There's the man of steel himself, Wonder Woman, Batman and… Wait. Oh this will piss Kal-El off to be ignored.
"Timothy! I was just about to call you. You remember Robert Dewitt, correct? You'll never guess what he's done now." Lex grins, standing up. He was meaning to update Tim on this particular… Creature. He's one of their favorites to catch up on, purely because of the absurdity of his debauchery. Although this time does have a reason, after all there's reason for dear old Robert to get locked up this time and he's been making some comments about Lex lately and well he can't just let that slide now can he?
Tim blinks for a second then realizes what Lex just said. "Wait you know? Of course you do why wouldn't you.. Actually wait that doesn't matter what the fuck did Robert do? Last I knew he wasn't allowed outside without an escort so I was expecting longer." Lex has a feeling it does in fact matter very much if the way Batman's eyes narrow and his jaw clench indicate anything. Lex needs to continue on or possibly get put in a hospital.
"Oh he's no longer allowed near animal shelters, so-" Kal-El cuts him off, incredibly rudely if he might add.
"What… What is going on here?" Poor man sounds so confused. Lex is savoring this moment.
"Well I know Timothy Drake is Red Robin. Clearly. Red Robin is the hero closest to becoming a villain which fits Tim quite well, and also Tim is the only Gothamite smart enough to be Red Robin. And infuriating enough to personally annoy Ra's al-Ghul on a regular." It's very simple honestly. Lex has no idea what's making this so complicated. "If it helps make you all feel 'safe' and 'secure' I could tell you about the time Timothy told me he had a crush on Kon-" And now Tim's thrown something at him. What is this, interrupt Lex day?
"Shut up! What if I told them about you and Clark Kent?" Ahh, expose his crush, get his own crush exposed. Well unfortunately Lex has no shame about that.
"You mean the man who could lift a 200 lb person with no effort? One of the very few good reporters?" Odd that Kal-El's face is getting red and confused but oh well. "Honestly though, who cares. You know Tim my offer for adopting you still stands. I know it must be absurdly easy to hide being Red Robin from your… family. However I think I could be of more assistance still." Batman's hands are clenching now. Interesting. "I mean you made a fake uncle to get out of being adopted by the oaf, I don't know why you didn't just let me." Ah, Batman's hands are unclenched. He must have thought that uncle was also real. Surprising, really, from 'The World's Greatest Detective' however they clearly have the wrong bat. "And does he even know about your missing spleen? Really, I should get him locked up for child neglect. Even I would notice if anything happened to Kon-El."
Tim's eyes widen at that and snap to Batman's equally wide eyes. They both jump into a sprint, Tim leaping out of a window with the Bat close behind. "Oh, did he not know? Oops."
Perfect. Hopefully that'll have been absurd enough that the Justice League leave him alone, and he can watch his show in peace.

there's no such thing as ethics
Studying for your Ethics oral exam was already a pain. Doing it with your boyfriend? Now, that is what you call “self-sabotage.”
Tonight was supposed to be a productive study session.
Your Ethics professor had been on a power trip lately, deciding that an oral exam would be the best way to test you understanding of moral dilemmas and all those theoretical shit. Which meant you had to prepare for whatever godforsaken questions he might throw at you.
And who better to help you, right? Sukuna, your incredibly unhelpful boyfriend.
You flicked through your notes, glancing over at him sprawled on your bed, one arm thrown lazily over his forehead as he scrolled through his phone.
“Alright,” you started, trying to sound determined. “Let’s do a hypothetical situation. Moral dilemma time.”
He didn’t even look up from his phone and just continued doomscrolling whatever he finds interesting, “Do we have to?”
“C’mon, babe, be useful for once.”
He then let out the most dramatic sigh. Is he fucking annoyed already? He stretched out on your bed like he had nothing better to do – which is true, he’s already done with all his exams for the semester while you only have this last exam. Threw his phone aside like he was being forced into this conversation. “Fine. Impress me with your best morally damning question.”
You sat up straighter, grinning. This was your chance. You cleared your throat, “If all your loved ones were drowning – me, Jin, Yuuji, and your dad – who would you save?”
Without even hesitating, he shot you a look like you’d just asked the dumbest question ever.
“Isn’t it obvious? You.”
You blinked. “Huh? Why me?”
“‘Cuz you’re the only one who doesn’t actively annoy me,” he said, like it was the most obvious answer in the world.
“Babe, you’re seriously telling me you’d save me over Yuuji? Over a literal baby?” You leaned forward. Yeah, you can’t believe it.
Sukuna just shrugged, his expression completely deadpan. “Yeah, Yuuji’s not you.”
Your brain short-circuited for a second. “That doesn’t make sense. He’s a baby! e doesn’t even know how to swim yet!”
“That’s how the world works, babe.”
“HUH? What do you mean?”
“Then it’s Jin’s problem,” Sukuna said dismissively. “Not mine. My focus is on you. Always.”
You gasped, scandalized. “Sukuna! This is your family! Your nephew is drowning, you heartless bastard!”
He smirked, eyes gleaming with that familiar mischievousness. “Yeah, and? What, you want me to let you drown?”
“You have no soul,” you muttered, rubbing your temples in frustration.
“Debatable,” he smirked, pure arrogance is radiating from him. He settled more comfortably on the bed. “Besides, it’s my dad’s fault for not teaching Jin how to swim properly when we were kids. Why should I clean up their mess? And why the fuck are we even in the ocean. You hate the ocean. There’s not a chance that we’ll ride a cruise for 7 fucking days.”
“Because it’s a hypothetical situation.”
“And?”
Groaning, you rubbed your temples and asked him the question you’ve been meaning to ask since the day you met him – when he was kicking someone to the ground who had accidentally bumped into him (or not). “I swear to god, do you even have morals, ‘Kuna?”
“Depends.”
“On what?”
“Whether or not they benefit me.”
You couldn’t let it go. Sukuna’s complete lack of regard for his family, his indifference to your please, was driving you insane. But you had one more card to play.
“Okay,” you said, leaning in with a grin and a dangerous glint in your eyes. “So, what if it’s me and our future baby drowning? Who would you save?”
“Huh… you really want daddy’s cock right now, babe?” Sukuna’s lazy gaze flicked over to you, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. You just slapped his chest in obvious annoyance.
He snorted and looked like he was about to answer in his usual carefree way, but then paused, as if he was processing the question for a second longer than usual.
“Hmm,” he drawled, shifting on the bed, his gaze flickering between you and the empty space. “That’s a tough one.”
Okay, wow. Your heart skipped a beat – was he actually taking this seriously now?
Then, without missing a beat, he leaned back, chuckling lowly. “Well, obvs, I’d save you.”
You blinked, slightly relieved but also confused. “Really?”
“Yeah,” he said with a fucking shrug, “you’re the one who’d actually appreciate being saved. The baby’s gonna be fine.” His smirk deepened. “Besides, if I saved the kid, who’s gonna look after you? Wouldn’t be much fun without you around, brat.”
Your brain short-circuited again for a second, processing both the arrogance and the unexpected tenderness in his words. “So, you’re saying you’d just let our baby drown?”
He raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t say that. I said I’d save you.” He leaned closer, eyes locking with yours with a teasing grin. “But hey, it’s just a hypothetical, right? Who the fuck knows if we’ll even have a kid that doesn’t know how to swim?”
Your lips twitched, trying to hold back a smile despite yourself. “You are so full of shit, ‘Kuna.”
“Yeah, and you love it, brat.” His voice lowered, leaning in just enough for you to feel the heat of his words.
And before this even goes south (literally to some fucking session), you pushed him away and exhaled sharply.
“Okay, what about ethically?” You began, trying to keep your cool. “In one of our ethical dilemma situations, do you believe catfishing is unethical?”
“Who would I even catfish? And why the fuck am I gonna do that when I have this,” he pointed at himself so arrogantly.
“I didn’t even say that you would catfish someone. I’m asking if you believe catfishing is ethical or not.”
“Nah,” he answered immediately.
“No?”
“Nope. There’s no such thing as ethics. It’s all just a societal construct.”
“Sukuna,” you exhaled and squinted at him, “So if we had met on a dating app, and I was actually some 50-year-old dude catfishing you, you’d just be cool with that?”
“But it didn’t happen and you weren’t one. Or are you?” He teased.
“That’s not the poi–” you groaned. Yeah, you’ll never win with him in this kind of talk. “You are actually impossible.”
Sukuna just grinned, completely unfazed. “Baby, if ethics were real, I wouldn’t be in your dorm right now, watching you lose your mind over this stupid class.”
And honestly? He had a point.
You hated that he had a point.
But before you could come up with a retort, Sukuna’s hand was on your arm, pulling you up to sit on your bed. “Enough with the philosophical bullshit. Your brain’s fried. We’re leaving.”
You blinked at him. “What? We’re in the middle of ethically thinking, and you’re just pulling me out of here?”
“Yeah,” he said, his tone softening just enough to be noticeable. “Your brain’s obviously fried since you started studying hours ago. Let’s go get some air. You’re not gonna pass that fucking exam if you don’t take a fucking break.”
“But –”
“I’m not asking,” he pulled you up from bed, guiding you toward the door with a hand firm on your back. “C’mon,” he added, without giving you a chance to argue. He was really not asking.
“Are you always this bossy?” You asked, half-smiling despite your frustration.
“Only when I care,” he said, his voice laced with that same teasing arrogance as he slid his right arm around your shoulders. “Don’t get used to it, brat.”
You rolled your eyes. “You’re lucky you’re so damn good-lucking.”
“With a big fucking cock, I know. Now, shut up and walk, brat.”
And for once, you didn’t argue. Maybe he was right about one thing: a little time to breathe might actually make you feel better.
Even if it did come with a healthy dose of his cocky charm.
