In theory you are right, but I disagree with some of the logic.

Laena was younger than Missy Anne in the show so trading her in for an older one makes zero sense by your logic(nor does him trading in Missy Anne for Mysaria who is older).

Show!Daemon is restless because he’s unfulfilled nothing more nothing less. This is the only thing I actively dislike about him because he book!Daemon is capable of caring for people and being unselfishly devoted to them(just not the people the fandom wants him to be devoted to). He certainly doesn’t just abandon women becauae of their age or because he’s just gotten bored of them. He does give a shit. He isn’t a man built on whims, he’s calculated and ambitious.

However, the show mostly fails to take that into account and instead has turned him into a shell of his book!counterpart(which is a feat considering it’s written from a historical perspective) to prop up a certain someone who’s little more than a crazy Karen in the books because Ryan Condal, just like the rest of the fandom, doesn’t seem to understand his story due to his own biases.

The reality is that show!Daemon is a poorly-written character who is only well-liked because of Matt Smith’s performance(seriously replace Matt with someone who isn’t charismatic and I can guarantee people would not like show!Daemon nearly as much).

Now I won’t say you are wrong about the last part, but I wish people(including the showrunners and the fandom) would stop reducing Nettles to just some girl he screwed cause he wanted someone young and different. She wasn't just that to him. He cared about her. She’s his greatest light so I completely disagree with this show’s approach even though they are likely heading in that insidious direction.
