Part 1
If asked about it later, Lucifer would have sworn it was an accident.
Well, his discovery was. Everything else? That was 100% on purpose.
The incident in question came about like most interactions with Alastor. Alastor messes with Lucifer (for no reason, Lucifer might add). Lucifer retaliates (with mixed results). Alastor tries to get under his skin. Lucifer casually reminds him can squish that little static bitch like a bug, thank you very much.
And so on and so forth, most only stopping when Charlie interrupts them.
It was all going pretty much to script. Alastor had just made a comment about his parenting skills - look, he knew he had messed up, but he was here, now, and trying! - to grind his gears when Lucifer found himself inspired.
Alastor wanted to rile him up? Well, fine! Two could play at this game.
Because while Lucifer's parenting skills - or lack there of - was a sore spot, Alastor wasn't without his own triggers. Case and point: The Radio Demon absolutely loathed it when men touched him. Granted, he didn't like it when anyone he didn't tolerate touched him, but men in particular was a hard no-no.
Lucifer honestly tried not to poke that beast. He knew why all of his people, these wretched and terrible sinners, were in Hell. All he had to do was take one hard look at any of them and he'd know. And oh, how he knew every single one of Alastor's victims. Could lay the names of all of them, especially that first one, at his feet if only he thought Alastor regretted even a single one of those deaths.
So he knew why the seemingly unflappable radio host hated to be touched and he genuinely tried to respect that boundary even when his own weren't respected.
But sometimes Alastor pushed and pushed until he got his reaction.
In this case, it was Lucifer in a small duck form landing right on Alastor's head.
Alastor froze as the Devil laughed at him, static emitting from him like he'd hit a bad station. Lucifer took advantage of the opening to nip at one of the tufts of hair he'd always seen sticking up on the guy's hair, only to realize:
"Are these ears?"
He let out a quack of pure delight. On either side of him, the little black antlers he'd never really paid attention to began to enlarge. Lucifer proceeded to put two-and-two together and got: "Wait, are you a deer? Does that mean you have a tai--"
He was cut off by an overly large black and red claw swipping him right off of Alastor's head. It was at this point, Lucifer realized that Alastor had grown in size, eyes manic and maw agape. He clearly intended to take his chances with attempting to eat his king.
Which, rude. Clearly, he needed to learn to take it if he was going to dish it out.
Lucifer easily shifted into a serpentine form, before slithering out of Alastor's grip. To avoid the drop, he shifted back into duck form, keeping just out of reach.
"Ha!" He taunted. "The dreadful Radio Demon, hell bent on treating everyone else like prey, when really--"
"Dad!"
Lucifer spun around, spotting none other than Charlie. While her interruption was indeed like clock work, the look of disappointment on her face was new. And so terribly damning.
Lucifer fluttered to the ground, taking to his humanoid form as he touched down. Behind him, his nemesis creaked oddly, as if his bones no longer had any cushioning between them. "Hey, Charlie, I..." He trailed off as his daughter didn't spare her hotel's manager the slightest glance. They all knew what to expect from Alastor. Alastor would always be none other than himself. She'd clearly expected more from her father.
Who'd just as clearly disappointed her.
Again.
Lucifer shrunk into himself, suddenly finding his victory tasted like ash.
Charlie placed her hands on her hips, stance . "Alastor, I know you like teasing my dad. And Dad, I know Alastor can take some getting used to, but can't you both please just try to get along?"
A figure in red came up beside Lucifer, the correct size and shape to indicate Alastor had returned to his normal shape. Lucifer didn't dare look at him, keeping his gaze fixed solely on His daughter's face.
"Ah, forgive us, my dear." Alastor says it like he'd never lost his cool to begin with, charm turned up to the nines. "We merely got a bit carried away. No harm done."
Charlie sighed, stance already softening. She never liked being stern. She much preferred to be a problem solver. She eyed the two of them. "I'm not going to ask that you like each other. Just promise me you'll at least try not to antagonize each other."
Lucifer side-eyed Alastor, who had the gall to appear serene as an untouched pond.
"Dad."
Lucifer's attention snapped back to Charlie. "I..." Her expression was bordering on disappointed again and he felt his arguments crumble. "Of course, Char-Char. Anything for you."
Her smile was like a sunrise dawning over Eden. Lucifer resolved himself to actually try to avoid fighting with his daughter's business partner.
Charlie turned that expectant look on Alastor. Alastor's smile softened into something fond and indulgent, true despite the slight distance to it. "Very well, my dear Charlie. I promise not to antagonize your father."
Charlie, always willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt, clapped her hands together. "Oh, thank you, both of you!"
Lucifer wasn't entirely certain he believed a word Alastor said, but that was between the two of them.

Tsaheylu
Tonowari x Reader x Ronal
Summary: You wanted to mate with the two people meant for you, of course, first, you had to ask permission from your parents, Jake and Neytiri. When you don't and it just piles more lies on top of each other it's only going to make things worse and now you have to answer for yourself.
Warnings - Smut, mating, size kink, hurt/comfort
How did you end up sandwiched between the clan leader and the tshaik of the Metkayina clan with a dick deep in you and the tshaik’s hands all over you? Well, there’s a good reason, this started because your father had dragged you away from your home in the rainforest and brought you here for safety. Let me tell you, your father wouldn’t ever expect his eldest child to start fucking a current olo’eyktan and on top of that the tshaik as well.
So of course, you didn’t tell your father.
You hated that you went behind his back, you never lied to either of your parents, they held you to a high standard. You always did what was asked of you, you were next in line to the throne of the Omaticaya people, you had to be a good kid. So why did you find yourself rebelling now?
Ronal and Tonowari knew what position you were in; they knew that just by your title that maybe you shouldn't be doing this. However, you urged them on, you wanted this more than anything else in your life. Your father was grooming Neteyam just fine to be the next chief, you could give yourself this one pleasure in life. You couldn’t keep running away from things you wanted just because of your parents, you wanted them so badly, so badly that you didn’t care anymore.
Honestly, when you first got here, they didn’t catch your eye, it just became a thing. You were a training tshaik so you were with Ronal a lot, but it slowly developed. You haven’t mated quite yet, you know they want to, you just haven’t been able to justify that yet. You figured before you mated you should talk with your parents, Ronal and Tonowari agreed. You were supposed to go talk with your parents tonight about it and then tomorrow you were to tell your soon-to-be mates about what they said.
You knew your parents kept bugging you about finding a mate, you were almost 21 and you supposedly didn’t have your eye on anyone. Your mother kept trying to pawn you off to anyone she thought was eligible, she also kept pointing people out to you. But no one caught your eye, it wasn’t till you got close with Ronal and then Tonowari that you felt such a deep connection and you didn’t care what happened after that.
You sat at home having dinner with your family, the only thought going through your head was what you talked about earlier with Tonowari and Ronal.
“Ask them tonight. We wish to make this official,” Ronal said.
She had her hand caressing your hip and you laid between her and Tonowari.
“I can. I will ask them tonight and when I see you tomorrow, I’ll let you know.”
“I cannot wait till you are ours officially,” Tonowari said kissing your shoulder.
You had good intentions of following through with that promise, but now that you’re in the moment, you are scared. You never lied to your parents and it was eating away at you to withhold information, but you just couldn’t do it. You couldn’t tell your parents that you were fucking the leaders of the clan, you couldn’t tell them that you were going to get mated to two people tomorrow night. Not to mention it was your parents new found friends and you were supposed to show them the utmost respect.
So, you held off for a while till it felt like the right time, but of course, that never came and so you went to bed. When you woke up, you debated telling them again or at least your mother, but it never felt right. Then nighttime rolled back around, you were busy all day with your siblings and chores so you didn’t see Tonowari or Ronal that much.
You went out not long before eclipse with another lie to your parents, Ronal needed your help or that’s what they thought. You and she were going out after the eclipse to gather some herbs that you could only get at night time and she wanted to show you. You went to her mauri and saw both of them talking, it brought a smile to your face, you knew you loved them, and you knew this was right.
“What did they say?”
“Yes, they said yes,” you lied right through your teeth to the people you loved. You were starting to become a horrible person now, constantly lying to your family and now to your soon-to-be mates.
Their eyes lit up at your response.
“Then we should celebrate. I have the perfect idea,” Tonowari said with a smirk.
“Oh yeah, what is that?” You said very sultry and you walked over to him.
His thick arms wrapped around your torso, “not here, come with us. There is the perfect spot for us to mate.”
A big smile was brought to your features.
You left their mauri and went with them to their ilus, you got on Tonowari’s with him, and then you rode off to another part of the island. When you got there, it was really a gorgeous spot, perfect sand and such a gorgeous view. They were right, they always were, you got off and felt the sand on your feet.
Tonowari came up behind you and kissed your shoulder, up to your neck and then to your lips. His place was then taken by Ronal, her hands pulled your hips closer into her causing you to whimper a little. You heard Tonowari’s chuckle at your sounds already starting, he went behind you again, his hands trailing up your sides. His hands landed on your tits, he then moved them up higher and unclipped your top.
He let it fall to the sand and his hands went back onto your tits, he squeezed them and palmed at them. You felt your legs starting to shake from the pleasure already being given to you, Tonowari’s fingers started to pinch at your nipples. You detached from Ronal’s lips and whimpered out loud, Ronal didn’t stop, she kissed down your chest to your navel and then pulled your loin cloth off to kiss your clit.
Tonowari pulled you back into him to give Ronal better access, he eventually lifted you up by your thighs to give Ronal the best access possible. She was destroying you with her tongue, you were crying out into the night at the stimulation you received. You were fairly new to anything sexual when you met these two, they opened your eyes to so many things. The things they did to you, the pleasure they gave you were so amazing and you never wanted the feeling to stop.
Your legs were shaking, and Tonowari could feel your muscles shake in his hands, he knew you were going to cum, he knew you were being overstimulated. You came throwing your head back onto Tonowari’s shoulder, he started to kiss down your neck in praise. He slowly set you down, to which your legs still gave away, so he laid you down. Ronal lay next to you and when you heard them taking their clothing off, you felt Ronal’s hands pull you on top of her.
“Shhh, my flower. I’m going to hold you while Tonowari pushes inside. He is quite big even for me and your small body might have some troubles. I will ensure you are safe.”
You nodded, you were already cock drunk and nothing has happened.
You felt his hands rub down your back, Ronal held your legs open enough, and his hands pushed you further into Ronal. This helped position your hips for him to slip in as best as possible, luckily you were all ready for him and he slowly pushed in. You held onto Ronal for dear life at the stretch, your eyebrows furrowed and your eyes slammed shut. Your breathing was fast, hot and uneven, slowly Tonowari pushed in further.
Once he bottomed out, you could only feel the delicious stretch of his cock, and your eyes slowly opened to look at Ronal under you. You pressed your lips to hers, in a deep passionate kiss, you also felt Tonowari kiss down your spine as he waited for you to adjust.
“Can we make tsaheylu?” You asked.
“Of course, yawne,” Tonowari said.
You three grabbed your braids and connected them in a three-way bond, instantly this was going to feel better. You felt so much more in tune with them, it felt like the pleasure increased tenfold. You slowly moved your hips to get Tonowari to move, to which he placed his hands on your hips and not long after started to move. His movements were brutal, fast, and rough, but so loving, it felt so amazing. Right away you were moaning out loudly, but you wanted Ronal in on this so you reached down between her legs.
You heard her hiss at the touch of your fingers in her folds.
“I told you I would hold on to you. This is a lot for your first time.”
“I need to take care of you too.”
She kissed you; she understood the feelings you were having; she was in the same boat. She let you continue, she just relished in the pleasure your fingers brought to her. As you moaned out, you would occasionally quiet yourself by sucking on her nipple but you never stopped fucking her with your fingers. Tonowari kept moving so quickly and you could tell you were tiring your body out, but you just wanted more of him more of both of them.
Ronal came first, she gripped your bicep as she writhed against you, and she pushed your body up into Tonowari’s. It caused you to squeeze his cock more which only caused both of you to come, his grunts turned you on more. He pulled out and you all disconnected your braids, he lay next to you, and you lay between them, tired and worn out, but so happy. You were finally mated; you were mated to two of the best people possible and you were excited to start your life with them.
But wait, you can’t.
You lied.
You lied to them, to your family.
They were going to find out, both sides and they were going to be so angry, they were going to be pissed. You may have just fucked up your relationship and it’s barely started, what were you going to do now?
Shortly after you three got up and you all returned to your homes, of course, they asked you to stay with them and you said yes. You figured you could lie and tell your parents you got back late with Ronal from getting herbs and she let you sleep there rather than go all the way back to your place. It would work, so long as your parents didn’t talk to them first, you just hoped and prayed.
When you woke up, you knew you were more than likely fucked, Ronal and Tonowari were gone and it was about mid-day. They had to have talked to your parents and everyone probably knew at this point and you were dead. But if they knew then why weren’t you woken up or why weren’t people in here with you? You slowly sat up and looked around, there was food left out for you, and you stood up and went over to eat.
After eating you left the mauri and went looking for either of your mates or your parents, you need to know if shit hit the fan. Of course, when you looked out onto the beach, you saw your parents were talking with your mates. You felt anxiety hit you like a truck, it only hit harder as you saw your father yelling, throwing his arms around, getting in Tonowari’s face and he generally looked so angry. Tonowari looked so calm and like a child that did something wrong and didn’t know any better, Ronal looked worried. Your mother had her face scrunched up but she was quiet, that was the worst, she was super mad.
Once you witnessed that, you did what you always did, you ran, you couldn’t handle the anxiety. You hoped they didn’t see you; you couldn’t take that; you didn’t want that confrontation. You didn’t want to hear how you disappointed your parents or how your mates now hated you for lying, now you’d never be good enough. You ran to the water and got on your ilu to ride to where you were last night with your mates. There was only calmness here, only good happy memories and you needed that, you wanted to feel weightless.
Of course, that didn’t last long, before you knew it, you saw your mates and your parents pull up to the shore. Tonowari had to have known you were coming here, he had to have known how much you enjoyed this spot. Or it could be that they went looking for you and couldn’t find you and this was the only other place you knew about that they hadn’t checked.
“You ran off,” Tonowari started.
You stayed quiet, you didn’t need to start crying already.
“What were you thinking, daughter,” your father called out to you.
“You lied to us and to them. Why?” Ronal sounded so calm, like a mother wanting answers from a child.
You felt the tears falling already, “I just couldn’t do it. I wanted this so much and I didn’t want to be told no. I didn’t want to ask for fear of being told I couldn’t have the one thing I wanted the most. So, I lied to all of you. For the first time in my life, I wanted something and I wasn’t going to ask for it. I wanted to tell you I was to be mated, but I just couldn’t do it. I had good intentions too; it just couldn’t come out of me. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done it, I knew it was wrong, and I felt bad for doing it. But I didn’t care, I just wanted them. I didn’t care if I gave up my position in the Omaticaya people, I didn’t care what you had to say, I wanted Tonowari and Ronal. I couldn’t take being told that I couldn’t have them for any reason.”
Your mates looked heartbroken to see you cry and to hear what you said, why you lied, why you wanted to be with them, what you’d do for them it melted their hearts.
Your parents on the other hand were still angry.
“You’ve never lied to us before. You’ve never rebelled like this,” Jake said.
“I told you; I couldn’t take hearing you say no or hearing you bad mouth them at all. It was what I wanted and I didn’t care about anything else but them. I love them both so much, that I didn’t care what I had to do to be with them. I just wanted to be with them. I know what I did was wrong, I knew I shouldn’t have done this and I knew it would hurt everyone but I couldn’t find it in me to care. I had them.”
“You mated before Eywa and didn’t tell us,” Neytiri spat.
“Mother, I wanted to, I felt if I could tell anyone it would be you. But I also knew that if you rejected it, it would be even harder for me to go against that. For the first time in forever, I felt love for someone and I wanted to reach out and hold on and never let go.”
“Clearly, you love them a lot.”
“Yes.”
“I am still very angry that you lied. But you have mated and there is nothing that can be done. You should be with your mates.”
You felt a small smile appear on your face, “I’m sorry Mother. I wanted to tell you, I just couldn’t. I’ll never lie again, I promise.”
“Babygirl, you have to understand how you handled this was very wrong and I am disappointed in you,” your father said.
“I know.”
“But I agree with your mother. You should be with your mates. I am happy that you at least found someone that will take good care of you.”
“Thank you, Father.”
You walked closer to them and hugged your mother and then your father, you then moved over to your mates. You hugged Tonowari and then brought Ronal in, you had everything you needed in life, you had what meant most and no one would take that away.

Next heat (sequel to First Heat)
This is still a G-rated incest free fluffy omegaverse fic, now including Superman.
--------------------------------
After spending his whole life in Smallville, Kansas Clark Kent thankfully got the hang of a few things. Clark considered himself pretty lucky. Most people hated aliens or were scared of them. Somehow he had managed to get adopted by the kindest people in all of Smallville.
Although Kryptonian biology was a bit different then human biology he had eventually figured out how alphas and omegas worked. His parents were both betas, they didn't really need to explain that to Clark though until middle school came around. Then, everyone learned in sex ed that alphas and omegas had different cycles that betas wouldn't have.
He passed as beta most of the time, surprising people who met him. Eventually, Clark realized that he wasn't just a beta, but in fact didn’t have a dynamic at all. Unlike everyone else he couldn't scent or scent mark. It made him feel isolated as a teen finding out the truth of his origins. He would never be able to mate with someone, because the pheromones involved in the process weren't part of kryptonian physiology.
Despite his inability to do something so basic, he managed to use the excuse that his nose was just partially broken whenever anyone noticed that he couldn't smell scents. Like many things that were awful about being different he got used to his non-existent dynamic with time. It helped when he didn’t have to deal with inconvenient alpha posturing or either cycle.
When he met Batman his lack of dynamic helped him even more. The man didn't let on what his own dynamic was, too secretive to reveal such a thing, but he did make it clear that he felt marginally more comfortable around him once he found out about Clark’s lack of a dynamic.
Clark knew that everyone assumed that Superman was an alpha, so he figured that either he wasn't seen as a threat or he wasn't competition as a non-alpha. Their friendship soon led to Clark getting to meet Robin. And when Batman ran out of scent dampeners on a mission, Clark quickly figured his dynamic out. Not because of his own ability to smell, that still wasn’t an ability of his. No, it was by the way that the rest of the team reacted.
Diana sharply turned to look at Bruce, quick to inform him of his scent leaking through. The rest of the league stared in open mouthed shock, but before anyone could put their feet in their mouths Clark cut in.
“Alright, back to the mission. The sooner we finish the sooner we can all go home.”
He didn’t want anyone bugging his best friend about his dynamic and Clark knew that the alphas in the group might try to subvert the omega man’s authority just because of his secondary gender.
Eventually they had finished and gone home, but before they left Clark made sure to check on Bruce. He didn’t receive much in the way of a greeting or even a response to his queries but since that was the norm he let it go.
Clark was grateful that although he wasn’t really a part of the human world when it came to dynamics, he had years of experience dealing with all three which is why now as he’s coming over to Bruce’s house he’s totally prepared to handle not one but two different omegas. Bruce after many years had finally come around to trusting him, although it had been a slow progress.
So, when Alfred came down with the flu, and both Bruce and Dick happened to be in the middle of a heat, Clark had been the first to be called to help out. In his hands he carried a care package that he and his ma had made together. It consisted of all of the omegas’ favorite snacks and foods. It even included soft blankets that Clark had been the only one to handle in order to keep them scent free.
He made his way inside via the front door, using the key that had been given to him in case of emergencies. He quickly made his way to the den, already familiar with the layout of the house. He found Bruce and Dick sitting in comfy pajamas, playing some card game and looking a bit flushed.
He made sure to knock on the open door to announce his arrival and get permission to enter. Bruce nodded at him and so he came in quickly dropping the package at the man's side so he could pick through it and decide what he wanted to take. He waited until both omegas had grabbed what they wanted and moved the box to the side before taking a seat outside their nest.
“Can I get you anything else?” he asked not knowing what either one could need.
“Could you refill my glass? The pitcher is on the table behind you,” Dick said, his voice sleepy and soft.
Clark complied and checked to see if Bruce wanted a refill as well before he filled the man’s cup and replaced the pitcher on the coffee table. He sat awkwardly for a moment before the card game came to an end and Bruce dealt him in. He soon figured out the game and a few hours passed. Eventually Dick couldn’t keep his eyes open and the fourteen-year-old omega lay down to rest. Bruce gathered the cards and seemed ready to join him in taking a nap. Before closing his eyes though he finally spoke.
“Thanks for helping out today. I think we’ll be fine for now, but I appreciate you taking the time,” and with that he curled up around his son and seemed to shut the world out as he slept.
Clark slowly rose, making his way out of the room and toward the front door. He couldn’t but feel a little more than just lucky, after all Batman doesn’t trust just anyone. He flew home and knew that if he was needed he could be sure that his best friend would call.
----------------------------------------
Earlier that day...
If there was one thing Bruce hated it was being an omega in the eye of the public. As a teen he had struggled with a great deal of self hatred, not able to cope with his internalized misogyny towards his own secondary gender. As he had trained and met not only many different omegas but omegas he came to respect, it helped him to put his misconceptions aside.
Now as the guardian to an omega he knew full well that the only reason he had custody of Dick was because he was an omega. The sexism that even the courts allowed rubbed him the wrong way, but he figured he ought to use what little power he had as an omega for good.
Brucie Wayne may never be seen as a serious business man, but he could be seen as a generous philanthropist. And if there was one thing he loved doing to his executive board it had to be signing off on charity donations without their approval.
Being able to use the ditzy omega act to hide his Batman persona also meant he could claim to have no idea how he had donated thousands to a charity. He could also be seen overtipping for meals and not get questioned because everyone knew that Brucie Wayne had no clue how to handle his money.
The only downside to being an omega was dealing with alphas acting like they had power over him. He knew he had to come to board meetings, even if they cut into his time as Batman, but he really didn’t understand why he had to have alphas on the board who were older than his father. They were always trying to cut corners, downsize, and generally just f-ing his employees over.
The dinosaurs were a nightmare and there was only so much Brucie Wayne could do about them as they droned on and on about how they had only made a couple billion this past quarter and how they were displeased.
Eventually the meeting ended and he was free, but before he could get far he noticed that something wasn’t right. He knew Alfred had come down with the flu this morning but figured he had been spared. Now though he couldn’t help reviewing his symptoms.
He quickly made his way to his office after cataloging the symptoms. He called out to his PA to cancel his plans for the rest of the week as he rushed to his private elevator. He needed to get home before it was too late and he needed to check on Dick as well.
Usually Bruce didn’t have heats, his suppressants blocking them. But every year he was forced to have at least one for the sake of his health, and since it had impacted the mission the last time he chose to not take the one heat, he now found himself scheduling it every year.
Since Dick had started having his own they had gotten on the same schedule to ensure that they could get back to the field as a duo without having either of them alone on patrol. His call got through to the school nurse just as he turned the car on.
He had driven them both today and now needed to pick Dick up regardless of whether he was in heat or not. He didn’t like leaving the boy to be picked up by anyone but himself and Alfred. Even when he had a busy day he tried his best to always pick Dick up from school.
He knew he wasn’t the most physically affectionate so he tried to show up as much as possible instead. The nurse answered his call and agreed to call Dick into her office, just in case his heat started while Bruce drove to get him.
He made it to the building and after parking in a visitor spot, rushed inside towards the nurses office. He almost forgot to check in first but knew the administration staff would be displeased if he didn’t do his paperwork before taking his kid home early.
Once he finished and got to the office he found Dick waiting for him, mildly flushed and sipping at a cup of water. He quickly thanked the nurse, scooped the boy up, and rushed back out to his car. He placed Dick down in his seat before circling round to the driver’s side.
When they got home Bruce was frazzled. He didn’t know how he was going to get their nest set up and get them necessities, all while dealing with his own set of heat symptoms. He didn’t think too hard before he called Clark and hoped his best friend would come to his rescue.
He didn’t usually feel comfortable depending on people but it was Clark and he wasn’t going to be weird like an alpha would. He also could be trusted to keep this a secret and not tell everyone that he- Batman- had not been prepared for once.
The deciding factor was Dick. It would be fine for Bruce to power through, but the idea of neglecting the younger omega for the sake of his pride was unacceptable.
Several hours later he was glad he hadn’t hesitated. As he awoke safely tucked up against Dick with a fluffy blanket covering him he couldn’t help but feel grateful that he had at least one friend he could always call.

He Wasn’t Worth It (TW)- JJ Maybank x Fem Reader
Tumblr media
JJ is there for you after you get cheated on. There will be mentions of physical and mental abuse in this.
TW "I never loved you anyways just get the fuck out!" He screamed, getting off of the girl on his bed. "You're too damn clingy, and you accuse me of stupid shit all the time!" You stared at him teary eyed "YEAH AND I WAS FUCKING RIGHT WASN'T I? YOU WERE CHEATING ON ME YOU DOUCHEBAG!" You turned to the mystery girl on your bed and said "Have fun with him, don't cry when he cheats on you and does the same exact shit." You went to turn away and walk out but he slapped you in the face. "Don't ever come back Y/N. Get the fuck out of my sight."
It's been three days since your breakup, and you haven't been answering any of your friends. Sarah and Kiara have repeatedly called you, trying to see why you haven't been around. John B and Pope have been texting you constantly, trying to find out why you haven't been in class. And JJ, he's done everything. He's called you, left texts, DMs, and even tried asking your parents what happened. Your parents just thought you were sick, they didn't know what happened, so they told him you had a bug. You were sitting in the silence of your room, lost in your thoughts when you heard a tap on the window. Looking over you saw JJ, who somehow managed to get up to your bedroom window on the second floor.
You sighed walking over to the window, opening it. "What JJ? You can come in but stay over there, I don't want to get you sick." You said while looking at the ground blankly. "Y/N I know you're not sick, what happened?" He asked softly. As much as you wanted to let it all out, a part of you wanted to keep it in, in hopes of being able to go back to him. "Nothing I told you I'm sick." "Actually you haven't said anything to anyone in the past three days. I found out you were "sick" from your parents. Something's going on, tell me what happened." He said, his voice rising angrily. Tears began to fill your eyes and you collapsed on the floor. "He, he- cheated on me. And." You stopped not being able to finish your sentence through your sobs.
JJ quickly came onto the floor with you, wrapping you in his arms. "Y/N breathe. Breathe with me. What else happened?" You held onto him tighter, starting to shudder thinking of that night. "He hit me and told me he never loved me. And to never go back." JJ's voice cracked trying not to cry. "He's never going to hurt you again princess. I'll protect you. I'm always here no matter what, I promise you that Y/N." He rubbed your back, holding one of your hands. You enjoyed the feeling of his arms around your body, he was warm and you felt cold. "Can we get off the floor and go on my bed?" You whimpered. He picked your weak body off the floor, pulling you onto his chest as he laid down. His arms held you tightly, as if you were going to slip away.
"Did anything else happen Y/N?" He asked. "I had texted him after asking for my things back, and he said I didn't deserve them back, and blocked my number." You could feel JJ's grip on you tighten, you knew he was angry, but for your sake he would keep calm until he left. "John B and I will get it back for you, you never have to see him again." "But what if I want to see him again J?" You whispered. "He loved me, I know he did. You can't fake a year and a half of love." "You can't Y/N. I know it hurts but even if he did love you, he stopped at some point. He doesn't deserve someone as amazing as you. I won't allow you to go back to him, he will just get worse. I don't want you getting hurt again." You knew it was wrong but you couldn't help but have some hope of getting him back. You gripped onto him angrily "He will take me back and he will love me again. He's just having a hard time right now that's all."
JJ lifted himself up and held your shoulders as you sat across from him. "Y/N no he won't. He doesn't love you. You're not going back to him." He said beginning to raise his voice. "Yes he will!" You yelled started to get worked up, your eyes going into a craze. JJ's eyes darkened, clearly angry at you. He took a deep breath looking you in the eyes. "Y/N I know it's hard to believe but please trust me, JJ- your best friend. He isn't going to take you back." It took you a moment to register what he said, for the past three days you've been stuck in denial, and thinking of all the good memories you had together. Your eyes filled with tears once more, letting your head fall onto his shoulder. "Why can't I be good enough for him?" You asked your voice cracking.
He lifted your chin up with his finger and held your cheek. "It's not that you weren't good enough for him Y/N. He wasn't good enough for you. You deserve someone who will sit with you and let you go on about things you love, things you're scared of. Someone that will accept your flaws and see them as perfections. Someone who will be there for you through thick and thin. You deserve the world Y/N, you just have to find the right person who will give you that." He wiped your tears away with his thumbs. "But he was supposed to be that person." You said, your head beginning to droop down. "I know that's what you think, and it will be awhile before you get over it, but you will. I'll be here every step of the way." He said giving you a small smile.
You laid back down, facing JJ, while looking into his blue eyes. He was fiddling with your hands and going on about how amazing you were. Something inside of you sparked and you felt yourself smile for the first time in three days, and it was because of your best friend in front of you- JJ Maybank. "There's the perfect smile I missed." He said, his eyes lighting up. "Thank you for being here for me J. I'm sorry I wasn't answering you, and I'm sorry for being so stubborn. Thank you. I love you so much." You laid on top of him and pulled him into a hug, while wrapping your legs around him for about 10 minutes. "You never have to hide anything from me princess. I've been here for you ever since we met, and until we die. I'm always here." He said kissing your forehead.
You immediately felt your heart race, and your body tingle, your cheeks flushed red. "I uh. Sorry. I got lost in the moment. I'm sorry Y/N that was probably too much." He said while trying to turn his head away. You grabbed his face gently, making him look at you. "J, it's okay. I liked it. It made me feel safe. You make me feel safe." You smiled at him. He kissed your forehead again and mumbled "Y/N, I love you." against it. You were sure he could feel your ecstatic heartbeat, hell, he could probably feel it. "I love you too JJ." You said while placing your lips on his. He kissed you slowly, snaking his arms around your body, flipping you over. He kissed down your neck softly, whispering "beautiful" and "perfect" over and over. He came back up to your face, leaving kisses all over it. He leaned back and stared at you smiling. "Will you let me take care of you and treat you right Y/N? When you're ready of course." "Yes you can JJ." You said while leaning towards his lips again.

Hi this is quite quite unhelpful but I'm dying for some Tony x teen reader. Maybe with the reader being a mentee or something. I can't think of a exact scenario but the people in this community have started to severely neglect poor Tony 🥺🤣
It’s not unhelpful at all! I love Tony! And I completely agree there’s not enough Tony content anymore 😔😔😢
I’m a bit rusty but let’s give this a go!
——
Tony was like a dad to you. After spending 2 years helping him at the compound after school and meeting all the avengers on the way, they became like your second family.
Your situation at home wasn’t exactly ideal. You never really went deep into that but let’s just say you enjoyed spending your time out of the house. So naturally you always looked forward to heading over to the compound to help Tony.
As the months went by, your relationship with Tony grew into a father-daughterly bond. And if course, Peter was like a brother to you, since you’d known each other since 4th grade.
You were currently on your break right now. Tony was in a meeting with the team so you had a couple of hours to yourself. You were scrolling on your phone while the tv played in the background. You had made yourself comfortable on the couch, bundled up in blankets.
You were the type of person to get pretty bored easily. Peter was out doing his evening swing around the city so it wasn’t long before you fell asleep, bathing in the warmth of your fuzzy blanket.
You don’t know how long you had slept but apparently you slept until the meeting had ended because you woke up to light chatter and a whiny Bucky.
“Ughh, Tonyy, get your kid off the couch, she’s been here ages. I wanna sit down.” He whined, softly kicking the foot of the couch to wake you up. You stirred softly and turned your body to snuggle the backrest. “Hey. Get up. Come on.” He said with an unimpressed face.
You groaned in annoyance and shrugged a shoulder at him. “Bug off. I’m sleeping.” Bucky rolled his eyes.
“I’ll sit on you.”
You turned and opened an eye to peek at him. “Don’t. You’re like 300 pounds.”
“Well, get up! There’s no space for anyone else. And for your information, I’m 225.” He deadpanned, beginning to poke at your belly until you’d move.
“Hehey!” You flinched harshly, letting out strangled squeaks since you realized you were pretty tucked in your blanket.
“Aww, you made yourself a little burrito and not you can’t get out; how fun.” Bucky teased with an un(apologetic smile, continuing to poke your belly.
“Aaah! Stop! Ihihit tihihickles!“ You laughed, wriggling in the blanket like a worm. “Gaaah! Buckyhyhy!”
“Tony come onnn, your kid’s being stubborn. She won’t get off the couch.” Bucky yelled, smirking at your giggles and poking at your sides, alternating spots to keep you guessing. You were still half asleep, making you laugh harder than you should be at the tickles, snorting and squealing every time bucky would poke you.
A moment later, Tony strolled in and took in the scene. “Kid, come on, Bucky likes his couch time. And plus, your break is over; back to work. Let’s go.” He said, waiting for you at the end of the couch.
Bucky still wasn’t letting up, but neither were you.
“Noho! You had a 3 hour long meeting and ended it right when I took a nap. Now you gotta wait on me until I finish.” You giggled, turning on your belly, hoping that would stop Bucky’s attack.
Tony raised an eyebrow at your smart reply and looked at Bucky. “Did you hear what I just did?” He asked.
“If I say yes, will you help get her of the couch?” Bucky asked. Tony sniffed and wordlessly walked over to your “sleeping” form and looked at you for a moment.
“Well, kid, if you wanna play it that way, I guess I can indulge in this little challenge you’ve gotten yourself into..” he shrugged, sitting and straddling your back, making you stiff up.
“H-hey, what are you doing?” You asked, wiggling a bit to try to get out. You should have tried to get out of the burrito when you had the chance!
“What do you mean?” He asked, digging his fingers on each of your sides, scratching at your ribs making you scream and flop around as much as you could. “I’m getting you off the couch.”
“Nohoho!! Tohohony plehehease!” You cried, pulling at your arms to get free but the more you tried, the more energy was zapped out of you. You couldn’t even kick your feet out since they were tucked in too!
“Gonna have to get rid of this…” Tony started, ripping the blanket off and technically freeing you, but quickly targeting under your arms. “Theeere we go, now we’re talkin.” He smirked.
You were screaming and kicking, finally able to turn around under him to fight him off. However you were already too weak to fight him with your whole strength, so he was easily able to keep the upper hand. “Well that was a mistake.” He shrugged, clawing his fingers and vibrating them into the middle of your belly. You arched your back with a scream and grabbed onto his hand in hopes of tearing it away.
“STOHOHOP TOHOHONY!!” You laughed, letting out tired giggles. “BUHUCKY HEHEHELP ME!!“
Bucky laughed loudly. “Are you kidding me? After you so politely told me to bug off and continue to hog the couch? Haha- you’re funny.” He chuckled, shaking his head. Tony chuckled along with him and lifted up your shirt. “Oh, what do we have here, Ms. Y/n?” He hummed, digging a finger into your belly button, making you arch your back with a high pitched squeal. “I see… an adorable little belly that’s hungry for raspberries.” He teased, scratching at your belly button relentlessly.
“PLEHEHEhehease dohohohont.” You laughed, throwing your head back in defeat. “I’ll get uhuhup! I prohohomise!”
“A bit too late for promises, hun.” He quipped, leaning his head down to blow a long raspberry on your belly, shaking his head into it to make it that much worse.
The scream you let out was surely heard throughout the compound and you pushed at his head with all the strength you had left. “DAHAHAHAD!” You instantly gasped as you realized what you slipped out and felt your face heat up hotter than and oven. “WAHAHAIT!”
Bucky gasped a bit and Tony was surprised by the word but didn’t relent in his attack. Bucky was grinning widely and Tony poured his lips to tease you. “Awww that’s too cute. You called me dad.” He teased, digging his fingers back into your ribs, giving them a few shakes to make you squeal.
“NOHOHO I DIDNT, STOHOHOP!” You we’re so embarrassed and upset with yourself. How could you let that slip out?
“Aww, I’m pretty sure you did. I heard it. Did you, Buck?” Tony teased, looking up at Bucky.
“Definitely heard it.”
“Yup! 2 against 1, y/n/n. You definitely said it.” He smirked, blowing a raspberry in the crook of your neck while squeezing at your sides. Your saliva caught in your throat with a squeal and you began coughing. Tony quickly let up and helped you sit upright. “Wooah, you okay? Don’t wanna kill you now. You alright?” He asked, rubbing and patting your back as you coughed a few more times.
You nodded shyly with a frown on your face. Tony noticed and his smile dropped a little. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
Bucky took this as a cue to give you both some time, so he walked out the living room with a smirk on his face. He’d get his time on the couch later.
You sighed and shook your head. “I didn’t mean to call you dad. I just- I don’t really know why I did. I’m sorry. If you want me to stop coming to help for a while I understand.” You shrugged lightly. Tony furrowed his eyebrows and and placed his hand on your shoulder.
“Woah woah woah, what are you talking about? Why would I want you to stop coming over? You’re family, y/n!” He exclaimed, taken aback by your reaction. “I mean that. I know your situation at home isn’t good. And I also know what we mean to you. But now its time for you to know what you mean to us. And I’m sorry it wasn’t made clear before. But you’re literal family to us, y/n/n. We love you. You know how many times Peter has called me dad before? Now, are we related by blood? No. But he is literally the son I never had. He’s my kid. And so are you! Not one person on this team is related to anyone else here by blood… but we’re as close to a family as anyone can be. And don’t ever think for a second that you’re not part of it. You don’t have to be embarrassed that you called me dad. I actually found it quite endearing! And I’m glad that you see me in that way, cause I see you as my daughter too.” He smiled, kissing your forehead gently with much love.
You had tears in your eyes threatening to fall. Your own parents had never said something so heart-touching like this to you. You felt your heart burst with love and you instantly threw yourself into Tony’s arms in a tight hug. He quickly returned the gesture and held you tight. “Thanks, Dad.” You grinned, hugging his impossibly tighter.
Tony smiled and ran his hand up and down your back, his heart warming at your new name for him. “Of course, honey.”
Blood don’t mean a thing.

Y/F and Y/M Robins were far from perfect parents. Y/F had the mental age of a toddler at times, and being an estate agent who always has to go the extra mile- he often wasn't home when his wife needed him the most. Y/M, on the other end of things, had been a stay at home mum until Y/N turned 16 last summer, and now she helped with all the administrative work for Mayor McCoy. She was a maternal creature which, coupled with her brilliant sarcasm, made for some explosive conversations. The two met on the first day of university and got married a week after the last.
When Y/M first found out she was pregnant with little Y/S Robins, the two realised they wanted a quiet bubble of a town to raise their children and grow up with them. But it wasn't until their second daughter was about to turn seven until they found their forever home in the quaint town of Riverdale. Ten years passing before their eyes, and the picturesque place didn't seen all that anymore.
Jason Blossom's death had nothing to do with the short gunshot sounding over the waves of Sweetwater River, the noise which woke Y/N from her sweet unmemorable dreams every few nights. The summer days rolled into early August without anyone caring, Y/N spending most of them at Cheryl's side listening intently to her past adventures with her brother. Betty threw herself into an internship at a publication house; Flick and Cherry had volunteered at a summer camp, and Archie was helping his dad out more and more with constructions job.
Although it hadn't been the start to the relationship Y/N had hoped for- the nervous giggles and hand holding, short and sweet kisses on late night walks followed by poetry worthy cuddling. There was a magnificent silver lining as Archie's muscles gained definition, and he suited the sweaty builder look far too well.

"Earth to my gorgeous queen? Y/N/N?" Cheryl quizzed her friend, who currently resided at the poolside of Thornehill Manor. Her mind was off on a glorious tangent about her rendezvous in the kitchen at two in the morning. Fixing herself a glass of water, when Archie slips his hand into her pyjama shorts, his other around her mouth muffling her needy moans.
The red headed beauty shoved her y/h/c friend playfully, warm skin sweaty under her pale touch. Y/N blinked innocently and sent her an apologetic smile, "What?"
"I asked if you've thought about dating anyone else since Clayton?" The fiery ginger girl enquired with her usual upbeat tone.
Cheryl knew she had a unique quality about her which made it almost impossible for Y/N to lie to her face. The y/h/c girl scrunched up her nose, hiding the smile the idea of Archie Andrews brought to her face. 'Yes. We started off as fuck buddies but never actually fucked. Then I drunkenly asked him to be my boyfriend, now a month later I think we may genuinely work out.'
"Maybe." Y/N bit her bottom lip, listening to her friend's squeal as she squeezed her sun tanned arm.
"I knew it! You have this euphoric glow you only get when someone else makes you climax." The redhead affirmed confidently, watching the Robins girl's eyes bug out before hitting her arm, "Y/N/N, you know your secret's safe with me."
"Fine." She sighed and took a sip of her fruity cocktail, "It started off as just fooling around, honestly I just needed to let off some steam after everything. I knew he was into the kinds of things I was, I mean he used to tease me about it non stop. And it was good, so good I stopped being a pussy and asked him to be my boyfriend."
"Holy freaking hell!" The Blossom girl grinned with excitement, "Dare I ask, who is it?"
Y/N deadpanned at her friend, "Guess."
"Please don't tell me it's that muscular oaf Reggie, he's pretty but there's not exactly much going on upstairs." Cheryl tapped her temples and rolled her eyes at the thought.
"Nope."
The ginger thought for a moment, consulting her liquid courage and splashing her feet around the waters edge, "It's Archie."
All it took was a side-eyed glance at the y/h/c girl's blooming rosy cheeks to know she definitely wasn't wrong. Y/N severely lacked the ability to lie, even if her tone held conviction, her features were far too expressive and told the truth all on their own. It's not like they were hiding it from anyone, but the past four weeks had gone far too quickly without any moments to spare for the world around them. They slept together each night, the majority of that time not actually spent sleeping, but they hadn't been given the chance yet to explore more romantic avenues.
"It's fucking Archie Andrews- you're fucking Archie Andrews and don't you dare deny it." Cheryl gawked in her gorgeous white and nude bikini, watching as her friend lay back against the hot marble slabs which encased the large pool with the largest grin adorning her plump lips.
"We haven't had sex yet, so technically you aren't completely correct." Y/N winked but carried on before the girl exploded with a hundred questions and could never be turned off, "Trust me, I want to, and I'm sure he does too. But you know, it's his first time, I want it to be perfect for him."
"Y/N/N, you really love him, don't you?" Cheryl gagged to begin with, but she found it sweet in truth. She wanted someone to hold, who would hold her right back just as tight for no other reason than needing to.
Y/N sat back up and paddled her feet, "You have no idea, Cher."

Awe cute we love a bromance, and it's all good my mommas coming now anyways :))
Hours had elapsed far too fast and soon the summer heat simmered into cool waves of wind brushing over sun kissed skin. Cheryl's arms were clasped around the blonde's shoulders in a tight embrace.
"Thank you so much, Y/N/N, I don't know what I'd do without you!" The Blossom girl professed with sparkling eyes and a brilliant smile.
Y/N beamed up at her, fingers carding through her damp y/h/c hair as she looked over her shoulder to see her mum pulling into the driveway, "You don't need to thank me, Cher, friends look after each other. Message me if you need me, okay?"
Cheryl promised she would and the two teen girls hugged goodbye, with Y/N soon heading home- listening to her mother gossip about Hal and Alice's screaming match last night, Y/N loved her inability to keep her mouth shut sometimes.
"Mom," The y/h/c stopped her mid sentence and received a side eyed glance in response, "I need to tell you something and you're totally not allowed to freak out while you're driving."
Y/M's eyes widened and her grip tightened around the steering wheel, her daughters very rarely confided in her. While she knew her youngest was safe in her promiscuity, neither of Y/M Robins' girls ever shared their secrets so for the most part she took finding out into her own hands.
"Honey," The forty four year old's calm tone was hardly comforting to the teenager, "if this is about you and Archie fooling around, your father and I figured that out a long time ago, like so long ago. Who do you think does your laundry? When your underwear starting looking like dental floss, we caught on pretty quickly."
Y/N felt like a deer in headlights, "Mum, what the hell?" Her cheeks heated to an inhuman temperature.
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about, as long as you're being safe and he's-"
"For the second time today, and I can't believe I'm saying this to you, but I am not having sex with Archie Andrews!" Y/N's high pitched voice sounded through the car. It truly was a blessing and a curse to have such open minded parents in situations like this. She thought about telling her mother the truth, but Y/M was a blabber mouth as well as a gossip, so Y/N chose to withhold certain pieces of information.
The Robins matriarch dropped the subject but didn't forget about her daughter's tone, and continued to ramble on about how odd she found Penelope Blossom and the whole Blossom family in general. "Like why on Earth is Rose in a wooden wheelchair? They know it's the twenty first century, right?"
As expected, the Robins household was once again filled with warm laughter and copious amounts of food. The topic of Jason was skimmed over, and Y/S found herself away from the dinner table. The eldest Robins sibling was currently pleading with Alice as she began shoving all of Polly's belongings in the boot of Hal's car. She couldn't comprehend life without her best friend, not after losing Jason. They were meant to be going travelling together for a year- working the worst jobs and staying up all night to watch the sun rise in different countries. But instead, Y/S's eyes were blinded by tears as she screamed down the street at the speeding car, with Polly Cooper taken out of her life indefinitely.
Y/N was oblivious to the dark inner workings of the Cooper clan, Betty's knowledge about her and Archie unbeknownst to the loved up teens. She'd spent every second not occupied by her internship trying to justify the romantic act as a fleeting moment of loneliness fuelled by alcohol. She wrote in her diary ideas on how she could win Archie back over, not knowing it was in fact, too late. Betty found herself hopelessly in love with the boy next door, unfortunately for her, the girl across the road was the only one his mind found.
Archie and Y/N washed up while their parents resided to the living room with three glasses and a bottle of white wine. The short girl turned the tap off after placing the last utensil on the draining board, flicking her sudsy hands at the boy's face. "What the-"
She didn't give him a chance to finish that thought, jumping up and wrapping her legs around his torso- planting a kiss onto his lips, then cheeks, then forehead. The two fell entranced by each other, planting pecks across nape of her neck and top of his head.
"Son," Fred's voice called out from the next room and the two immediately pulled apart, hearts beating in their ears, "we're going in a minute."
"Alright." He replied, placing his girlfriend on the floor once more.
"I wish you'd stay." Y/N pouted childishly, she meant the words entirely but hated feeling overbearing. Her life had been turned upside down this summer, it started off with her unable to fall asleep with another person next to her- now Archie's chest was her most comfortable pillow and is arms were the warmest blanket.
"Tomorrow night instead, Princess? I promised my dad I'd spend more time with him before senior year." The boy reasoned, holding her close and unknowingly feeling the exact same way, he adored holding her by her waist and pulling her close under the duvet.
"Monopoly night at yours?" She grinned and he nodded back in reply, the two sharing a final kiss in the kitchen before walking into the hallway.
Y/N felt at ease as she wished the two a goodnight and headed up to bed. She took off her tea dress and replaced it with Archie's bulldog t-shirt, managing to reach the same length on her thighs as her dress did.

All Men Have Limits - X
Character: Dick Grayson x Reader x Bruce Wayne
Summary: A certain bat believes that Y/N is in way over her head, that she’s too naive to act in her best interest. So, whether she wants it or not, the vigilante family is going to help and protect her before she gets herself killed.
Word Count: 4,100+
Previously on…
Tumblr media
The next three days were one of the darkest periods of Dick Grayson’s life.
He was thrown back into the past to the moments after his parents were murdered. This felt the same but somehow worse. Because he was convinced he had the power to stop it, to keep Y/N safe.
Why did everyone he love have to die?
Was he cursed?
Was he responsible for their deaths?
He hadn’t even been able to tell Y/N how he really felt. He’d been holding back all this time, terrified that his truth would just push her away and make her decide to close off from him.
Now Dick wished he could go back in time and confess everything to her. If she had pushed him away, he would found his way back to her somehow. He sees that now – now that it’s too late.
He looked at Y/N sleeping peacefully in her bed at the manor.
Is it a miracle if conjuring was used to fight back at fate?
Dick doesn’t even remember what he said when he contacted Zatanna. He must’ve sounded hysterical and utterly desperate. His vision had been blurred from the tears he couldn’t control.
He already blacked the whole thing out.
Zatanna told them that Y/N would sleep for a few days. Even if her magic saved her life and Y/N wouldn’t even have a scar to prove she had died, her body was still exhausted from the trauma of it all.
But even with Zatanna’s reassurance, Dick hadn’t left Y/N’s side, absolutely terrified that she was still in danger, that she could still leave them forever.
When Y/N started to shift, Dick sat up straighter in the chair that he’d pulled close to her bed.
Y/N winced before her eyes fluttered open.
Dick didn’t want to overwhelm her, so he just waited for her to fully wake up.
Y/N seemed confused when she realized that she was back in her room at the manor.
Then her gaze moved to Dick.
“Bruce, is he–”
“He’s fine,” Dick cut her off before she could get herself into a panic.
Her entire body relaxed and she let out the breath she was holding in without realizing it.
“He has a concussion and he’s a little beat up. But he’s had worse,” Dick elaborated.
She raised a brow. “You tend to say that a lot.”
Dick shrugged.
But it was true: Bruce had been in much worse condition.
“You saved his life, Y/N.”
She seemed uncomfortable hearing that and didn’t meet his gaze.
“I did what anyone would’ve done,” Y/N mumbled.
“Not everyone would be that brave.”
A silence settled between them for a few moments.
“How am I here?” Y/N finally asked Dick quietly.
But they both knew she was really asking, ‘How am I alive?’
“I’m not sure you really want to know all the details…” Dick had been dreading this conversation.
“I’m assuming you called in another favor with your magic friend,” Y/N thought aloud.
“Zatanna,” Dick confirmed. “And, yes. Something like that.”
Y/N gave him a look that told him she wasn’t going to let it go so easily.
“She used a spell that reversed your injuries. She…” Dick had to pause and clear his throat and get rid of his emotions that were threatening to spill. “She used your blood to write a spell, making it far stronger than most she’s cast. It saved your life.”
Y/N watched him for a moment.
“That must’ve been scary,” she whispered, truly understanding what she had put him through.
She simply could not imagine had it been the other way around. The idea of watching Dick die was something she hoped to never live through.
“He hadn’t left your side until Alfred basically secretly drugged him and scared him to get his own bedroom.”
Y/N moved to get out of bed.
“Hey, hey, hey,” Dick panicked as she stood up to stop her.
“I feel…” she thought about it for a moment.
“Like you were stabbed to death?” Dick offered darkly.
“No. I feel…I feel fine.”
He could tell she was telling the truth.
“Perks of magically being healed?” She offered innocently.
“Guess so.”
She moved out of the bed and realized she was wearing cotton shorts and a baggy t-shirt that she most definitely didn’t die in.
What had happened while she was asleep? How long was she dead?
Y/N went to the window and looked out at the grounds of Wayne Manor.
“What happened when the cops showed up?” She asked quietly, almost in a daze.
“You’d have to ask Tim for details. I was preoccupied with…” Dick’s words died out.
Y/N turned away from the window to look at him.
She may have survived, but that was never going to make talking about that night any easier for him.
Luckily, she understood what Dick couldn’t put into words.
Dick took in a deep breath and crossed his arms, “We got them, Y/N.”
It almost seemed to good to be true. They’d been at this for months. It took them weeks just to plan their final blow.
Y/N didn’t realize how hard it would be to believe that it was truly over.
It didn’t help that there was no returning to her old life. Too much had changed.
“With the evidence you gave the FBI, there’s not a lawyer in the world that can save them. Even if a member’s hands aren’t dirty, the public shame will be enough to neutralize them for good,” Dick added with a bit of optimism.
But he could tell by Y/N’s face that she was having trouble accepting the truth.
He took a step toward her.
“If there’s members of The Court that slipped out from underneath us, if any of them try to come after you, it’ll just prove to the world that The Court of Owls is still operating. And exposing that will be the last thing they’ll want.”
She tried to force a small smile and nod, but it was unconvincing.
Dick closed the space between them and grabbed her hands.
“Y/N, you did it.”
“It’s really over,” she whispered, staring into his deep blue eyes.
He gave her a reassuring smile and nodded.
Then Dick’s focus shifted. He looked her up and down. “Y/N, you should really get some rest. You’ve been through a lot.”
Y/N sighed. “I think I’m gonna take a shower.” She smirked, “Get all that death off me.”
Dick frowned. “Not funny.”
“Jason would think it’s funny,” Y/N teased as she walked to the bathroom.
He playfully glared at her. “I’ll give you some space. But I’ll be down in the cave if you need me.”
Dick only got a few steps before Y/N called his name as if she’d forgotten something and rushed to him.
He looked at her expectantly.
Y/N stepped forward and locked her arms around Dick and buried her face into his shoulder. She closed her eyes and tried to control her breathing.
“Thank you,” she mumbled as his hands rubbed her back soothingly and he pulled her closer.
Dick wanted to tell Y/N that she didn’t have to thank him. He saved her life and he would do it again and again and again, and he would never expect gratitude for it. Because Dick knew that it was just as much for him as it was for her.
So instead he just held her in silence and felt the warmth from her body – the same body that had been ice cold and lifeless just days before.
When they finally pulled away, Dick was studying her face to make sure she was alright to be left alone.
He gave her one last look before leaving her.
Y/N took her time in the shower, making the water as hot as her skin would allow without giving it burns. There wasn’t a single bruise or cut on her. Her fingers traced over the place on her abdomen where the katana had been shoved through.
There was nothing.
She wondered if there was a price to pay for such magic. Would she be held accountable? Or would it be Dick’s friend who faced the consequences?
Y/N didn’t know how long she’d been showering, but when she finally walked out, the bathroom was filled with too much steam.
She quickly put on sweatpants and a t-shirt when her stomach started growling. She couldn’t even remember when her last meal had been.
Y/N moved to her door after deciding that going straight to the kitchen was quite necessary.
But she stopped as she heard footsteps walking past her room in the hall.
She froze, thinking it was Bruce.
What would she say to him? Would he be angry with her? Would he not react at all to her resurrection? What would hurt her more between the two?
But it wasn’t Bruce.
Tim and Damian were walking down the hallway.
“How much longer do you think he’ll stay?” She heard Damian ask.
“I don’t know. I heard the Titans have been bugging him to come back,” Tim answered. “I’m sure Kori misses him and has been texting.”
Damian just hummed in acknowledgment.
Y/N realized her hand was suspended over the doorknob.
And she had a realization: she was safe to leave.
But more importantly, she wasn’t the only one that could return to their “normal” life: so could Dick, so could everyone else in the family.
Soon, Tim would go back to his condo in the city. Jason would stop working so closely with the family he tried to disown and he’d probably stop coming around manor so often – if ever. And Bruce…Bruce would move on to new cases and return to the usual patrolling.
Y/N turned and looked at the bedroom that had become her new home in the past few months. Her personality was nowhere to be found inside. It wasn't actually hers. She was just one of its many visitors.
Y/N grabbed her duffle bag from underneath the queen-sized bed and started throwing her belongings into it.
Ten minutes later, Y/N had her jacket and shows on, and all of her belongings were packed in her bag.
She still had to deal with all her equipment that was sitting in the cave. But that was a problem for another day. Right now, she didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with it. She needed to leave – before she changed her mind.
-
Y/N was just yards from the front door when she heard his voice.
“Y/N?” Dick asked just loud enough to catch her.
She froze in place.
While her back was still to him, she closed her eyes in grievance from the failure of being spotted.
She slowly turned around.
“You trying to sneak out of here?” Dick asked.
It was meant to sound teasing, but she heard his disappointment loud and clear.
“It’s about time I get out of your hair.”
“We’re not exactly kicking you out…” Dick tried to joke.
“You said so yourself: it’s safe for me now.” She sighed and walked closer to him. “Look, I just…I need some time alone.”
Dick took it a bit too personally. Were they really that exhausting to be around? He thought she had started to see them as her own family. He thought things were OK.
“At least let me drive you,” he offered quietly.
“I called a cab. It’s waiting for me outside.”
Before Dick could say anything else, she quickly turned and made her escape.
Y/N knew what she was scared of. She was scared he’d tell her he was leaving Gotham now that the case had been solved. But she was even more scared that he’d tell her he was staying.
She wasn’t ready to deal with either scenario.
So, Y/N did what she did best: she ran.
————————
Tumblr media
Y/N stared at the wall of her safe house.
The silence that she had once grown used to long ago was now irritating.
Y/N hadn’t realized how accustomed she had become to the chaos of Wayne Manor until she had torn herself away from it. Even when it was quiet there, she could feel the presence of everyone.
Now she was left only to her thoughts.
And just she was about to escape the silence and go grab food at a nearby diner, there was a knock on the door.
Y/N knew for a fact that this safe-house hadn’t be blown yet – and that included with the Wayne family. It was exactly why she chose to come here instead of the one where Bruce first found her and dragged her to Wayne Manor for her own safety.
Which was why Y/N grabbed one of her guns and checked to make sure it was loaded and the safety was off before she tiptoed to the door.
She looked through the peep hole and her stomach twisted when she saw Bruce Wayne was on the other side.
She knew he could sense her presence on the other side, and there was no hiding. So she opened the door quickly.
Bruce eyed the gun in her hand. “This has become a habit of yours.”
Y/N ignored his comment, uncocked the gun, and carefully placed it on a table near the door.
When she was finally able to take Bruce in, she noted that his face was covered in bruises and small cuts. To be honest, Y/N expected more damage after being a witness to his near-death beating.
“May I come in?” Bruce asked softly.
She blinked rapidly, realizing she had yet to invite him inside.
This was all reminiscent of that night.
And Y/N didn’t appreciate the memories and feelings Bruce was stirring up.
An awkward silence settled between them. The silence of her apartment was doing nothing to help.
“Are you okay?”
Y/N knew the question was sincere, but Bruce still managed to ask it without showing any ounce of emotion – as if he wasn’t personally invested in the matter.
“I’m fine,” she answered quickly. Her eyes softened. “Are you okay?”
He simply nodded.
Silence again.
“You can never do that again,” Bruce declared.
“Do what?”
“You risked your life to save mine. The boys refused to tell me what happened, but I saw the footage. You threw yourself in front of me.”
Y/N remained calm as she said, “You did the same for me.”
Bruce shook his head. Because they both knew it wasn’t the same thing.
The truth was that Bruce woke up to find Dick crying over Y/N’s dead body. And then a few minutes he had watched as Dick begged Zatanna to help him.
And Bruce? Bruce had been unconscious when Y/N had needed him the most.
He had protected her all these months – with his own family and his own home – just to be useless in her final moment of need.
When Bruce finally woke up recovered to find out that Y/N had fled the manor, he knew he needed to go to her. He needed to make sure she never did something so stupid as risking her life to save him.
But now Bruce stood before her and he knew he needed to tell her so much more than just that.
“What are you doing here, Bruce? Did you just plan on lecturing me again?”
But Bruce wasn’t realized he couldn’t use any words tonight.
Ever so slowly, he stepped into her space, putting less and less space between their bodies. Y/N could feel the heat coming from him. And she sucked in a gasp from his proximity. She breathed in his cologne that she’d grown to love so much that it instantly relaxed her.
Her heart beat faster and faster as his eyes shifted down to her lips, hesitating in a way that was excruciating to Y/N. But it gave her time to resist, to allow her to shut this down before it could continue.
But Y/N didn’t want to do that.
Bruce brushed her hair away from her face, then his hands shifted slightly to cup her face. His touch wasn’t soft, but insistent.
He pressed his lips to Y/Ns. Brisk and determined.
The tension finally snapped and pushed them to a passionate kiss that was long overdo.
Was this only going to cause them both more pain in the future?
Or was this what they should’ve done long ago?
Bruce pushed Y/N against a wall.
And then everything became a blur.
Bruce picked Y/N up and wrapped her legs around his waist for her, silently instructing her.
Clothes were unzipped and unbuttoned, and thrown around the apartment without thought.
Their breathing was heavy and reactive to the way their hands raced across each other’s now naked skin.
For never being at this particular safe house, Bruce found his way to the bed with ease.
From the movement of their bodies and obvious desire for one another, one thing became clear: they were never meant to only share one night together.
————
Y/N had tried with all her might to stay awake – even if that meant pulling an all-nighter.
She was trying to break the pattern. And even though Bruce had exhausted her body to no end, she didn’t want to wake up to find his side of the bed empty.
But she was shocked to open her eyes and find not only that Bruce was still in her bed, but that she had been sleeping on his bare chest with his arms wrapped tightly around her.
Y/N could feel that he was awake. Apparently he was much more disciplined than her.
Little did she know Bruce hadn’t slept at all, not wanting to miss the feeling of her against him.
Y/N slowly lifted her head, “Hi.”
He smirked at the sleepiness in her voice.
“Hi."
“Didn’t expect you to be here still,” she admitted quietly.
“I can leave if you want.” And he meant it, even though it would hurt.
“No,” she scolded him in a breathy gasp.
The tension in his body released.
Y/N shifted off of his chest
“And where do you think you’re going?” Bruce questioned.
She shifted so she was no longer resting on his chest, but laying on her side beside him so she could see his face.
“I just wanted to look at you,” she whispered innocently.
Bruce smirked at her answer.
Y/N made sure the bed sheet was successfully covering her nudity.
Bruce seemed amused with her sudden modesty, but said nothing of it.
“How did you find me here?” Y/N asked him.
It had been the first thing she’d wanted to ask when he showed up to her door last night. But Bruce hadn’t exactly given her a lot of space to speak last night.
Bruce’s jaw tightened, which was a message in its own.
“Bruceeeee,” Y/N pushed back with irritation.
“You aren’t going to like the answer.”
She glared at him. “Did you put a fucking tracker on me, Bruce Wayne?”
“Your phone.”
“When?” She asked.
“After you tried to turn yourself in to the Talons.”
Y/N sighed, clearly annoyed by the answer.
They both knew she could easily disable it now that she knew about it. Even if he hadn’t confessed it, she would’ve figured it out on her own eventually.
“You’re upset,” Bruce observed.
“How would you feel if I did the same to you? But it’s…you. And I shouldn’t be surprised.”
“Need I remind you that we only met because you blackmailed me and threatened to expose my identity to the world?”
“You know that wasn’t the same,” she shot back as she rolled her eyes.
“You’re right.” Bruce sighed. “I promise I will deactivate it.”
“No,” Y/N surprised him by saying. “But I will make you a deal…you can always know where I am if I can know the same for you.”
Bruce knew this was a test. Because Y/N expected him to immediately shoot down such an offer. Couldn’t such information be used against Batman?
“Deal,” he agreed.
Y/N was so shocked by his compliance that her overwhelming emotions forced her to lean into him and capture his lips in a kiss.
“Should I make us breakfast?” She whispered to him after barely pulling away from his lips.
She lightly bumped her nose against his.
Bruce nodded with a grin.
But before Y/N could ask what he wanted, a knock at the door interrupted them.
Her heart raced at the thought of another intrusion – and a less welcomed one.
Bruce frowned, but remained calm.
“Stay here,” he warned before placing a light kiss on her bare shoulder.
Before she could argue, he slipped out of bed.
He put his boxer briefs on, but didn’t bother with a shirt or pants.
Even though Bruce told Y/N to stay put, she still figured a mysterious knock on the door was a sign to put clothes on.
She practically threw on her underwear, but couldn’t find a single piece of clothing she had on yesterday. Yet somehow she found Bruce’s white button down and quickly buttoned on to give herself some semblance of decency.
Bruce looked through the peephole.
He held his breath.
Bruce would’ve rather it been an attempted attack on Y/N than…this.
“Y/N, I know you’re there,” Dick called from the other side of the door.
Bruce knew she couldn’t hear him. But he knew there was no other choice than to open the door.
Bruce looked apathetic as he faced his first protégé.
But Dick knew Bruce well enough to see that there was guilt hidden underneath.
He took in Bruce’s attire – or really, the lack there of.
Dick huffed out a laugh, “Of course. I should’ve known better.”
He shook his head and turned to leave.
Bruce slammed the door shut and rubbed his face in distress.
Before he could even think of something to say to Y/N, she rushed past him and threw the door open again.
“Dick! Wait!” Y/N called to him and caught him in the hallway.
By some miracle, Dick stopped and turned to her.
He looked her up and down, lingering far too long on the white button down she was wearing that so clearly belonged to Bruce.
“Needed some time alone, huh?”
Throwing Y/N’s own words back at her was meant to come out harsh and cold. But it ended up sounding heartbroken and betrayed.
And, honestly, that was worse to Y/N.
She have any idea what to say to him.
What would even make him feel better?
So, Y/N just watched Dick slowly walk away.
She stepped back into the safe house with tears in her eyes.
Bruce immediately moved to her.
“Y/N–”
But Y/N shook her head, stopping him from saying anything more.
“I should go,” Bruce told her.
He couldn’t help himself as he reached to wipe her tears away.
“I should probably give you your shirt back,” she said between sniffles.
Had the situation been different, it would’ve sounded funny.
But there was no humor here.
Bruce’s innocent touch of wiping her tears away made it hard for Y/N to concentrate.
So she escaped into the bedroom and quickly changed into her own clothes.
When she walked back out, she had all of Bruce’s stuff in her arms.
Once Bruce was in his clothes again, he didn’t know what to do or say next.
It was hard for Bruce to leave Y/N when she was so visibly upset. Dick wasn’t here to make Y/N feel better this time...and that was all Bruce’s fault.
“I’m not used to saying bye to you,” Y/N finally broke the tension.
Bruce’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean?”
A sad look flashed across her face as she processed her thoughts. “Usually I wake up…and you’re gone. You don’t even give me a chance to.”
Bruce bowed his head in shame. “I shouldn’t have done that to you,” he finally admitted to her.
Y/N nodded slowly, agreeing with him.
“But you did,” she whispered.
Her voice sounded congested from all the tears she just shed.
“And all this time, I let myself think it was OK or even that I was the one who had messed it all up.”
Bruce quickly shook his head. “You didn’t do anything wrong, Y/N.”
Her eyes darkened. “Why did you have to make it so hard to stay away from you, Bruce?”
An he knew he deserved that. “I’ve been selfish,” he confessed.
Bruce hesitated before giving her a slow kiss on the cheek.
It was the first time Y/N had ever seen him unsure of himself.
Without saying anything more, he turned and left.
“Goodbye, Bruce.” Y/N whispered long after he could still hear her.

Your Daughter Asks Him To Be Her Dad ~ Park Jimin
Tumblr media
“Can Jimin put me to bed tonight, pretty please?”
The sudden voice of your daughter caused your eyes to look up as she crawled across the floor to where you sat. Beside you, Jimin was already off of the sofa, ready to scoop her up and carry her up the stairs. His head nodded as you glanced questionably across at him, leaning down to kiss your daughter goodnight before he carried her away.
The bond the two of them had often left you speechless, Jimin had much been a father figure for most of her upbringing, but you never imagined that she’d attach herself as much as she did to him. Nor that he’d be so happy to take on such a big role in her life.
It was only when she started school and met all of her friend’s dads did, she realise what she was missing out on. To replace it, she’d always tell everyone about Jimin and how incredible he was both for her, and for you too.
Whilst you remained downstairs, Jimin helped your daughter complete her usual bedtime routine before leading her into her bedroom and tucking her tightly under the duvet.
At times, he couldn’t remember a time without her in his life, even if she wasn’t technically his. When the hole was there to fill, he did it in a heartbeat, when he got with you, he knew what he was getting himself into, and still, he did it with no complaints or struggles.
“Jimin, do you mind if I talk to you about something without mummy?”
“Of course,” he smiled, perching on the end of her bed, running his hand over the top of her head, “whatever you want to talk about, it can be our secret.”
Her head nodded, holding her pinkie out for Jimin to intertwine his in with. “One of my friends asked me today what I think about dads.”
“Really? What did you say?” He asked her, trying to keep as composed an expression as he could, “because you know having a dad isn’t a big deal, just because you don’t have one.”
Her head continued to nod, it was something every member of your family had told her time and time again. “I think sometimes that it would be super cool to have a dad though.”
The two of you knew a time would come when she’d begin to wonder about who she is and where she comes from. Having just one parent had always been something she’d enquired about, wondering what made her so different from the rest.
“It’s super cool not having a dad too, because you have an incredible mummy who raises you, and you have me, and all your friends and families too. I’m sure your friends all have missing parts of their families that you get to have. Do all your friends get to have someone as incredible as me as part of their lives?”
“No,” she giggled, poking at his chest, “but it takes some special to be like you, that’s what mummy always tells me. She says that you’re a one of a kind and that no one will ever be able to do as incredible as a job as you do for us.”
His smile grew at her words as she told him more of the things you’d said. They were things that Jimin never knew you felt until your daughter decided to speak up.
Jimin only had respect and pride for what an incredible job you’d done in raising her, he knew being a single parent was far from easy, and yet you’d taken it all in your stride. Of course, he hoped to be there for the two of you, but there was never going to be anyone there for your daughter more than you were.
“Your mummy is amazing; do you realise how lucky you are to have someone like her?”
“I do,” she grinned, “that’s why I’m extra lucky to have you and her together.”
Jimin’s head nodded, feeling a light blush grow onto his cheeks as she continued to remind him amazing, she found him. Perhaps by blood he’d never be able to call himself hers, but he tried his utmost to do everything else for her.
“I still think about what times would be like if I had a daddy.”
“Do you really feel like you need a daddy?” Jimin asked her, frowning as her head nodded back at him. “Do you want to find out more about your daddy, because I’m sure it’s something that we can talk to mummy about?”
When her head shook, she only felt Jimin even more confused. Not much sense could be made of what she said at the best of times, but that was just another reason why Jimin adored her. His eyes continued to stare down at her as he searched for some sort of explanation, waiting for her to decide when she wanted to carry on.
“I want to be able to say that you’re my daddy, rather than just Jimin.”
His eyes widened, shuffling a little closer to her on the bed. She soon sat herself upright, resting her hands in her lap as she stared up at him in anticipation.
“If you want to call me dad, then I’d be more than happy with that. But you do realise how big that is, it’s not just a word, it carries a lot of meaning too. And although I might not be your proper dad, I’ll always be the dad in your heart.”
“I know what it means silly, that’s why I asked.”
His head nodded as she crawled into his lap, throwing her arms around his waist. His head leant down and pressed several kisses against the top of her head, squeezing her tightly to keep her warm in amongst the winter weather.
“Are you too excited now to sleep?” He asked her.
She smiled up at him, her usual cheeky charms on show to everyone. His eyes rolled, encouraging her to lay back down, staying beside her. “Can we just stay here for a little while longer?”
“If you want to,” he grinned, too wrapped around her little finger to be able to say no to her. “I’ll stay here until you fall asleep, as long as you promise to close your eyes now. You’ve still got school to go to tomorrow.”
“Will you take me?” She quizzed, “I want to be able to show everyone that you’re my dad, at least everyone will stop asking me about it too.”
Jimin smiled down at her, brushing his hand over the top of her head. “Of course, I’ll take you. But you have to promise me that you won’t let other people’s questions bother you, because they’re not a part of our family, are they?”
“No,” she chuckled, “our family me is me, mummy, and daddy,” she grinned, unable to stop herself from giggling as she tried to get her head around calling him dad.
It was slightly surreal to Jimin too, but he managed to keep his composure. He sat and waited for her to calm herself down and allow her eyes to close.
“Get some rest,” he whispered down to her, “it’s an honour to be your daddy little bug.”

Ethan Winters x reader
Word Count: 3.3k
Warnings: violence, cuss words, spoilers for re7,
Author’s Note: I changed up the ending of the request a tad I hope you don’t mind. I hope you enjoy! I love writing for Ethan so this was a pleasure.
Requested: by @drinksomecoco, So I’ve just had these two fic ideas floating around that I wasn’t able to commit to. For Resi7, the idea is that the reader is someone Lucas had kidnapped and trapped in his weird saw games. They managed to escape while Lucas was distracted with family things and had found their way into the main house right before Ethan escaped his first family dinner, so they end up with him through the whole sordid affair. After everything is over, Ethan now has to choose between his wife, who he now knows lied to him their whole relationship, or the reader, who admitted at some point that they didn’t have much of a home to go to. Obviously wouldn’t expect anyone to rewrite the whole game’s plot, maybe more reflection while they recover and Ethan has to make his choice
Summary: the request
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director/creator
(not my gif)
Tumblr media
When you woke up your head was throbbing. You felt like you hadn’t known a moment's peace in days. You should have known, you kept telling yourself. You should have known that going this far out into the wilderness would only bring bad things.
A whole family of bad things.
Lucas was the one who found you out wandering by yourself. Honestly, you wished it was anyone else. He was a sadist and he kept putting you in these sick games. You had beaten him so far but you weren’t sure how much longer you could take.
You sat up in the cold empty stone room and rubbed your head. You looked around. There was a single bulb light above your head, illuminating the room. You walked up to the door and grabbed onto the door handle, not expecting it to work.
To your surprise, the handle turned, opening the door up. You stood there for a moment in awe. You had tried that every time you woke up but it had never worked. You had to be careful. There was a possibility it was all part of Lucas’s games. You took a step forward and looked around warily.
Nothing and no one in sight. He must have just made a fatal mistake. Your breath picked up as you started to walk around his little hellscape. It was a winding place, filled with twists, turns and trip wires. You wanted to run but had to make sure you kept your pace. You couldn’t move too fast with the traps littered around.
You took a deep breath as you opened another door and stumbled outside. You wanted to cry from relief. Air. Outside air. You looked around eagerly, making sure you didn’t see anyone else. It was dark outside. There was a trailer and then a large house to your right. You weren’t sure if you would be able to get away if you didn’t go through the house. Everything else looked pretty fenced in.
You went into the trailer and was pleased to find a gun and some ammo in there. You loaded the gun, thankful for the shooting classes you had taken years ago. You put the gun safely in your belt loop and carefully approached the house. You opened up the door a bit and glanced inside the large room.
You took a deep breath as you stepped inside. It was a large room with two staircases on either side of the room. You took in your surroundings. Just had to find a way to the other side of this house. That was all you had to do. The task didn’t seem so daunting when you put it that way.
Suddenly the door on the same floor you were on opened carefully. You took out your gun and held it up as a man opened the door and shut it carefully behind him. He had nicely cut dirty brown hair and he was wearing a green jacket that was covered in black and red liquids.
He turned around and noticed you which caused him to raise his own gun.
“Who are you?” he asked, voice shaking.
“Who are you?” He walked up to you, gun not wavering.
“Answer my question.”
“I...are you part of the family?”
“No. Are you?” You shook your head. You both kept your weapons up though, noticeably untrustworthy.
“I’m Y/N. I was trying to find a nice place out here in the wilderness to take some pictures but Lucas found me and put me in his little hell of games,” you told him. “Who are you? How did you get here?” He thought about whether he was going to answer you and took a deep breath before lowering his gun. You lowered yours as well.
“My wife went missing three years ago. She sent me a message...I found her here. But she’s crazy she tried to kill me and then this fucking family tied me up to a chair and…” He showed you his hand which seemed to be stapled on. You scoffed.
“I can take a look at that if you want. I know a little bit about medical stuff,” you said warily. He nodded a bit.
“I have to get my wife.”
“I have to get out of here.”
“Me too. Eventually.” You nodded a bit. You put your gun in your waistband again and Ethan walked closer to you. He still didn’t entirely trust you but he liked you enough. “Your wifes a lucky girl,” you told him. He smiled a bit. There was some unspoken truth there. Ethan could help you and you could help him.
“You mind telling her that? She’s still trying to kill me.”
=====
You and Ethan walked over to the trailer to get some sort of peace. You couldn’t stay there long but it seemed like it was a place where they didn’t look often. Plus, there was only one door to monitor. He sat on the bed as you knelt in front of him. You were carefully examining his hand.
“The staples were a choice,” you muttered. He chuckled dryly.
“At least it’s back on,” he told you. You nodded and sat down on your knees.
“It looks like you’re able to use it well enough. Once we get out of here we’re gonna have to make sure you get it looked at further. Here’s some more meds if the hand starts hurting.”
“You’re a Godsend.” You gave him a kind smile and stood back up.
“Alright, now where’s your wife?”
“I found a video of her going out to the old house. I have to assume she’s somewhere out there but you know, it’s a working theory.” You nodded. “I talked to Zoe. She said there was a cure here, for Mia.”
“And I assume you’re going to find it?” “If I can.” You took a deep breath and nodded.
“Alright. We’ll probably find it when we go and deal with Marguerite.” He nodded back at you.
“That was what I was hoping for.”
“You dealt with the old man?” He nodded.
“Barely.” You cocked your gun.
“Perfect. Then let’s go give mom a taste of what we got.”
====
“This house is fucking disgusting,” you whispered. Ethan nodded as he crouched down beside a nest of some sort.
“I second that.” He stood up and you quickly moved with him. You were quiet, trying to gauge where on Earth Marguerite was. You kept yourself together as you ran into large bugs and places that made you need to backtrack and find other things.
As you walked through the house you eventually made it up to a small window.
“Ethan?” You turned around, met face to face with some woman you hadn’t seen before.
“Mia!” Ethan ran over and put his hands against the barrier between the two of them. You found yourself hiding a bit of jealousy but you had bigger problems.
“Hey Ethan!” Lucas yelled, grabbing Mia around the neck. Ethan started to shake the barrier. Lucas met your eyes as he pulled her away. “I’ll get you bitch. Just you wait!” You turned to Ethan as Lucas and Mia disappeared. He gave you a nervous look which you returned.
Eventually the two of you made it out to some sort of greenhouse where Marguerite was waiting. She transformed herself into a disgusting, drooping and dangerous form.
Ethan handed you one of his two shotguns which you took with care. You raised it up to where her most vulnerable place was and shot.
Ethen came at her from your side. When your gun got knocked down Ethan put himself between you and your foe. He put his hand on your hip, turning you so you were effectively behind him as he shot his handgun. Together you were able to take her down, after much effort. As she fell and died you suddenly realized how exhausted and in pain you were.
“Are you okay?” Ethan asked, more worried then he thought he was. You nodded a bit and used his shoulder to steady yourself.
“Just a little woozy. We gotta move on.” He nodded and grabbed your other arm, holstering his gun.
“You’re gonna pass out.” You shook your head.
“I am not.” He gave you a look. “You know Ethan Winters, you’re kind of a badass. I would be scared if you were pointing a gun at me.”
“I already did.”
“And I was scared,” you joked weakly. He scoffed and put your arm over his shoulder.
“Let’s get to the trailer and give you a minute before we hit Lucas with all that we got,” he muttered. You nodded.
“That motherfucker doesn’t know what's coming,” you whispered.
“Yeah, a guy with one hand and a girl who’s about to pass out. He’s gonna tremble in fear.”
“Hey now, don’t you underestimate us. We’ve made it this far. Just gotta get him, get your wife and get the fuck out of here.” He didn’t get the same pleasant feeling when he thought of Mia. He decided not to bring it up or dwell on it.
“Alright. I believe you.” ===
Ethan sat on the bed beside you. You were resting for a moment. You promised him only five minutes and he watched the door. He didn’t mind much. You fell into sleep easily, clearly exhausted. He grabbed your hand and held it for comfort.
Your face was so peaceful when you were asleep.
“Ethan,” you whispered, eyes still shut.
“Yeah?” he asked.
“We have to keep moving,” you told him as you squeezed his hand groggily.
“If you pass out Lucas will kill you.”
“Yeah? You would let that happen?” He scoffed. Ethan realized suddenly, he wouldn’t let that happen. You couldn’t get hurt. He chastised his own thoughts, looking down at his ring finger but he couldn’t see it. You were holding his hand and blocking the view.
“Not if I can help it.”
=====
Lucas paid special attention to you. He wanted to make sure you suffered for getting out and killing his parents. You and Ethan were forced to play his little game.
You and Ethan stood together in a locked couple of rooms. He grabbed your arm before you could walk too far into the room.
“Y/N-”
“This is just like the ones he kept me in. I saw the footage of someone else doing this, I know how to do it,” you whispered to him. He watched your eyes. He was sweating and exhausted. He was relieved to hear that you knew what you were doing.
“Go on then.”
You were able to work through that puzzle which did piss Lucas off but you were already gone before he could complain anymore. Now you had the serum and you had both made it out alive.
You found Mia after an aggressive amount of fighting with the Bakers. The more you saw of this family the less you were surprised by the sight. She was stumbling and scared but at the sight of Ethan her face lit up .
“Ethan?! Ethan!” she called, throwing her arms around her. He held her wordlessly for a moment as he dragged her quickly to the boat you and Ethan had found.
“We have a serum, to cure you,” you told her. She gave you a scared look.
“Who are you?”
“She’s a friend,” Ethan said. You held each other's gaze for a moment and gave her a kind smile. “I didn’t see Zoe. Did you find her?” he asked Mia. She shook her head.
“I haven’t seen Zoe in ages. We need to get out of here. We can’t dwell,” she told you both.
“She helped me get this serum.”
“Yeah and that’s much appreciated. But we have to leave,” she said. “We can come back later.” You eyed Ethan. He looked over at you for permission and you shrugged.
“She helped us get this. It seems stupid to leave her.”
Mia was trembling, worried about the escape. You all were. It was right then that Zoe emerged from the darkness.
“Zoe!” Ethan called. She ran over.
“You got the serum?” You gave her a curt look and then had to turn away.
“We..we only have one,” Ethan said. He was holding the only one there. You had to use the other one fighting Jack. You looked away from Mia as she noticed that he was going to have to make a choice.
“Well then you’ll have to choose one of us to give it to,” Zoe said evenly. Mia looked over at him and Ethan just looked at you. You shrugged from behind Mia.
“It’s up to you Ethan.” You could practically see his gears turning in his head. On one hand, Mia was his wife. He came here for her. But on the other hand...Zoe could help them get out. They could try and replicate the serum if they were able to leave sooner.
He grabbed Zoe’s arm and stuck the needle in. Mia gasped, shocked.
“I’m sorry. I truly am. Zoe will be able to guide us to safety,” he told her. You stepped into the boat, helping Zoe inside beside you.
“I’m staying here,” Mia said, disgusted.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Ethan countered. “My place is here. With her,” she told him. You watched as Ethan got into the boat in front of you.
“We’ll come back for you,” he promised. Mia’s face was shrouded by the dark shadows as the boat went down the river.
=====
Eventually you came up to a much larger boat. You ended up on the boat, where Eveline was. You had known about Eveline, only through Lucas’s complaints about her. You didn’t realize she was a child or that she was like the way she was. When Eveline realized that Mia might not want to be her mother, she wondered if you would be a candidate.
She knocked you and Ethan out.
You woke up with a start. Your head hasn't stopped hurting since the last time you woke up. Now you had no idea where you were. You stood up shakily. Eveline hadn’t taken your weapons.
“Ethan?! Zoe?!” you called out but there was no response. You looked around at the dark and grimy metal of the boat. You pulled out your gun. “Ethan?!” you called again, hoping that he would answer. Nothing.
You had to start walking around to find them. Your feet started to get wet from the damp atmosphere but you could barely notice. You ran into different mold monsters but were able to keep them down enough for you to pass.
You felt like you had walked for almost an hour before you saw Ethan. He ran into you, breath heaving, gun out.
“Fuck, I almost shot you!” he yelled. “What’s going on? Where’s Zoe?”
“She’s dead! Mia!” You furrowed your eyebrows and then saw that Mia was chasing him down with a weapon. Your eyes went wide. The shots you figured at her merely slowed her down.
“Run!” you told him and both of you started to book it away.
“We need to find Eveline!” he told you as you ran.
“Where is she?”
“I don’t know! But we need to find her!” You nodded, taking a sharp turn.
“Lead the way!”
====
You had to watch Ethan kill his wife. You watched him as his love for her was broken down to pieces as he shot her. You helped obviously. But he fired the last shot, as she asked him why he had chosen Zoe over her. Even you felt your heart clench up a bit and you didn’t love her like Ethan had.
“Mia,” he whispered as she crystallized and then dissipated. “Why?” You walked up to him and put a hand on his back. He turned to you and hugged you tightly, burying his face in your neck. You held him there for a moment and then pulled away. You put your hand on his cheek gingerly.
“We have to keep going. We have to find her.” Ethan nodded and backed away to reload his gun. His face glossed over with grief and rage.
“Let’s go.”
=====
The last fight with Eveline was dirty. You had to get the shot into her and it happened but not after she erupted into screams. She looked like she was just a child. How could just a child do all of the chaos she did?
As your back landed harshly on the ground after being shot out of the house, you felt relief. Relief and pain. You could see the sun rising. For a moment you just laid in the grass as your ears rang.
Then Ethan turned to grab your hand. You turned your head to look at him. His face was dirty and tired. You would probably both sleep for a week after this ordeal. Your hearing came back and you could hear him try and talk to you over the sound of helicopter propellers.
“What?!” you called, probably far more loudly than you intended.
“Are you okay!?” he screamed. You nodded quickly.
“Are you?!” He nodded back.
“Ethan Winters and Y/N Y/L/N?!” You both looked up to see a large man standing over you. You sat up and he held out his hand for both of you to take.
“Yes?!” Ethan called.
“I’m Redfield. I’m glad we found you.”
Chris and his team helped the two of you into a chopper. You sat next to each other as it lifted off. You saw Ethan pull out his phone, miraculously uncracked. A video of Mia was playing on it.
“She lied to me the entire time we were married,” he told you quietly.
“I’m sorry. You don’t deserve that.” He gave the phone one last look and took a deep breath before tossing it out of the helicopter.
“You could have just deleted the video,” you told him, laughing dryly. He scoffed and nudged you.
“Now is not the time,” he said but his voice was miraculously light hearted.
“You’re right. I am sorry though. Once we have a two day long nap we’ll talk more about it.” “Where are you going? After we get back.” You shrugged.
“I don’t have much of a place to get back to honestly. I guess we’ll just see where the wind takes me.”
“Isn’t that how you ended up here?” You nodded sheepishly. He looked down at the house for a long moment before looking back at you. “Stay with me. We can help each other get out of this rut. You can monitor my stapled on hand.” You smiled, brushing a piece of your hair behind your ear.
“You sure?”
“I have room for one more now. I’d like it to be you.” You grabbed his hand tightly. He squeezed your knuckles, looking you in the eye.
“Alright,” you breathed. He nodded.
The two of you fell asleep in the helicopter not long after that, leaning on each other for support. You would heal, over time. Together.

General bayverse headcanons part 2
Splinter
A very light sleeper
Anytime something happens in the lair, he knows
He knows so many of his son’s secrets but act as if he didn’t to protect their feelings
Like that one time he saw Leo flex in front of his mirror (he never did it again because ‘what if it was Raph or Mikey’)
Or that one time he went to ask Donnie a question and realized too late he was having some... alone time... and Donnie tried to play it off to save what was left of his dignity: “haha no I’m not doing anything, I’m fine, how can I help you?” but left a tab open
Let’s just say Splinter knows way more about his sons than he wish he did
He feels honored every time one of them, or hell, April or Casey, come to him for advice or just to vent
He’s jsut so happy to know they trust him
He loves watching movies with them
Doesn’t really understand pop culture but is thrilled when they take the time to explain it to him anyway
He keeps every single drawing Mikey ever made him, he has multiple boxes of them and he keeps his favorite in his room
It takes so much space, but they’re really important to him
Raph made him a really soft scarf that he wears every time they go to the surface (it reassures him)
He also has a sweater and a blanket, and he loves bragging about them: “Oh, this? Yes, my son made it for me :) Isn’t he talented :)”
He finds Donnie’s smarts both impressive and intimidating
Sometimes he’s scared he will never truly understand him or that he won’t have anything else to teach him
But then Donnie comes to him when he can’t sleep or had a nightmare, and he feels warm inside
He’s really scared for Leo
He has so much pressure on his shoulder and so many responsabilities, he’s terrified he will break someday
But Leo knows he can count on his family to support him if anything turns sour and is learning to open up (thanks to Splinter)
All in all, he’s the proudest dad there could be and definitely bragged and showed embarassing memories to April and Casey when they joined the mutants
His favorite animal is the canary
April
Mom Friend ™
She’s the one to bring them snacks or useless trinkets they might like
Leo thinks it’s stupid and they should hoard that kind of things
(he does anyway)
She’s also the one to bring medical supplies to the lair when they’re getting short on them
She knows many people because of her job, and comes so often to the pharmacy that the people who work her eknow her and know to not ask too many questions
She doesn’t care about the sight of blood but the smell makes her sick
She still follows Splinter’s instruction when doing stitches and she took a few first aid courses with Casey
She’s the one who takes care of the biggest bugs of the lair
She’s also the one they all go to when they have an embarrassing question to ask (the kind of stuff you’re too embarrassed to ask one of your parents, no matter how close you are)
Doesn’t really listen to anyone, really
Except maybe Splinter from time to time
But like, if she wants to investigate something messy or dangerous, she won’t let anyone stop her
She won’t run straight into danger, she’s not stupid, but she’s not gonna back off just because it might be dangerous
“Okay, April, I’m sorry but you’ll have to sit this one out, it’s way too dangerous for a hum-” “She’s already inside”
 She’s brave like that <3
The best at Just Dance
Even beat Raph from time to time
She has a terrible singing voice tho and loves to scream-sing just because she knows it drives Leo crazy
Sometimes will get picked up by one of the boys and just acts as if nothing hapened and keep talking about whatever the conversation was while being carried around everywhere
Speaks 3 other languages to varying degrees of fluentness: Spanish (fluent), French (still learning but she’s getting there), Arabic (beginner)
She knows insults in a lot of other languages tho (you know, just in case ;) )
The only one who doesn’t pull pranks on Casey (she takes pity on him and he gives her kisses when she takes his side so win-win)
Her favorite animal is the fox
Casey
Pray for him
He’s so fed up with their sibling nonsense
He’s always in the middle of their fights and he’s tired of this
But he’s even more tired of being the victim of their endless pranks (especially Raph and Mikey)
The payback is worth it tho
Surprisingly good with kids
Especially troubled kids (he used to be one, so he knows what to say to help them)
Also really found of small animals
Unlike Mikey who talks to them as equals, Casey baby talks and it’s both adorable and kind of silly
He’s well known in most of the rescue centers of the city because he always brings in stray animals here
Also volunteer in some of them from time to time
He’s really conflicted because of all of the horrible things othe cops do  and he often wants to quit because of that
But if he leaves, he knows no one will try to make a change
He believes he can make things right and tries his best to callout his collegues when they say or do fucked up things
Also completely understand all the hate against cops, and don’t hesitate to let everyone know it’s justified when his colleagues try to play the victim
Despite his anger issues he tries to keep a level head when on the job
He wants to be a good cop, but being a good person is even more important (and almost got him fired multiple times, the only thing keeping him from that being his connection to Chief Vincent)
This is why he’s also doing his vigilante stuff at night
He knows that sometimes, the law won’t protect the most vulnerable people
But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t
Once accidentally cut himself on the left with a piece of glass
He broke a glass jar, cleaned it up but forgot one little piece, and later stepped on it
It didn’t cut his foot, but he felt something under it and tried to get it off by rubbing his foot against his leg
Hence the stupid cut
Most of his scars aren’t really from his numerous fights, they’re just stupid injuries like that
His favorite animal is the cheetah

Prompt: "I'll Be Here To Protect You" - Loki x Reader - Words: 2,564
A/N: This sort of follows the oneshot "Worthy" but can be read alone. Basically, Reader is Silver Shadow (see Marvel character list for reference), Loki and Reader are married, yada yada, you'll see…
"Silver? I think you should take a look at this," Cap said over the comms. You, Cap, Loki, and Widow had gone to investigate a Hydra base you'd received intel on. You'd been informed that the base was abandoned but that they still had some records stored there.
"On my way," You replied to the Captain, teleporting over immediately. "Oh my goodness," You gasped at the sight that greeted you. There, lying curled up in a small cage, was a girl no older than 5 or 6. Cap ripped open the cage and gently pulled her out, holding her in his arms. She whimpered slightly and you could tell she'd been beaten. Instantly, you wanted to kill the people who'd done that to her.
"Can you help her?" He whispered, not wanting to startle her any more. You nodded and held out your arms to take her. As soon as you touched her, you started working.
"You might need to hold me up," You warned the Captain. "This is going to be tiring."
"Alright," He nodded. "Then let's get you out of here." He easily lifted you both and carried you out to the quinjet. You vaguely heard him talking on the comms but were a bit too focused to actually make out his words. He set you down on one of the chairs with the girl curled up in your lap. After a while, before the others got back, she seemed to be healed and sleeping. You were exhausted so you adjusted yourself slightly in the chair and dozed off as well.
"Y/N?" You turned your head, eyes still refusing to open with exhaustion, and groaned slightly feeling the kink in your neck from sleeping weird. "Y/N! Please wake up, hm? Please?" Someone said. Now they were poking your arm. Your other arm however seemed to be asleep, as you couldn't feel it, and you had a weight on your legs and chest. Suddenly remembering what all had transpired, your eyes shot open. "See? I told you she would wake up if I did that!" Natasha said, with what you knew to be false happiness, to the girl on your lap. The girl simply glared back at Nat before turning her attention to you, with a completely different expression. Her eyes widened and she tried smiling as though she was out of practice and waved slightly.
"Hi there," You smiled. "My name's Y/N. What's yours?" She frowned and looked away before mumbling something. "Hm? I couldn't hear you," You said.
"Helius," She replied with a frown.
"Oh," You replied. "Well, do you like that name?" She shook her head vigorously. "Would you like a new name? One just as pretty as you?"
"Really?" She asked, eyes lighting up once more.
"Yep! And then you'll have a special name for yourself! Just like I do, and just like Natasha," You said pointing at the redhead. "And-" You were about to point to your husband when you realized for the first time since waking back up that he wasn't with the team anymore. Your eyes darted back to Nat who looked worried.
"Y/N?" The little girl said quietly, pulling on your sleeve.
"What is it, dear?" She whispered in it in your ear and you nodded. "Oh yes, um. The bathroom's right over here." You took her over and opened the door.
"I get to use that?" She asked, surprised.
"Yes," You replied slowly.
"Wow! You're really nice!" She hurried inside and closed the door herself. You stood there for a moment, shocked, and Nat walked up behind you.
"She's not even accustomed to using a normal bathroom, Nat!"
"Those people, if they even should be called that," she said, shaking her head. "Are monsters." You looked around once more, trying to see if Loki had shown back up. "He's up with Steve," She said, pointing to the cockpit.
"What? Why? He's willingly spending time with the Captain?" You said teasing.
"He said he needed to think."
"Did he give any clues?"
"Not verbally. But I think he's nervous."
"About what?" You exclaimed. She nodded towards the bathroom door.
"Being a Dad."
"A Da-" you interrupted yourself, chuckling lightly. "You think just because we found her means we'll be her parents?" Nat smirked and nodded. "First of all, Tony will probably have a cow if we wanted to keep her."
"Well your husband had a horse, may I remind you."
"That was a made up story! Would you please stop referencing it!" You shrieked.
"Only when it stops being funny," She laughed.
"Second, there's probably already some rule in place that states we need to put her in the custody of Child Protective Services."
"We'll see about that."
"She's yours!" Tony said 2 hours later once you'd arrived home and gone straight to a conference room to meet with him.
"What?" You exclaimed. You hadn't even had the chance to talk with Loki yet. You glanced outside the room at the girl sitting in the hallway. The whole team was there with you but Loki had still not said a word. You looked at him but he refused to make eye contact and you couldn't read his expression. "Don't get me wrong, Tony. She's wonderful and I think she deserves the world but why?"
"You found her! Who knows if she has powers? It's best to have one of our own caring for her just in case. And besides, according to Romanoff's story, the girl practically glared daggers into anyone else who came her way."
"Alright I guess. I mean," You sighed. "Loki? Darling? Um, what do you think?"
"You've already made the decision, Stark. I will respect that and allow my wife to make the necessary changes to our living quarters to care for the child. Now is there anything else you'll be needing at the moment? I need a shower."
"Uh, no. It's-we're done," Tony said, seeming surprised at Loki's attitude just as you were. You all started to head out but Tony stopped you for a moment. "Here," He said, handing you a credit card. "Buy whatever you want for her." You smiled and shook your head.
"What do you know? The man of iron does have a heart."
"Yeah but don't tell anyone," He chuckled.
About a week later, Helius was in her new bedroom, thoroughly showered in gifts from Tony, but still not talking to anyone. Neither was Loki for that matter. You yourself were exhausted, staying up late nights keeping the girl company when she woke up screaming from nightmares. When you eventually came back to bed, you often found your husband had gotten up already and disappeared somewhere to 'be alone'. With Helius, you offered her a few ideas for a new name but she didn't like any of them. You even told her some ideas the others had suggested but she hated those even more. You seemed to be the only one she was comfortable with. With Loki, you'd tried to talk to him, even calling and texting him but he wouldn't answer. Today, though, you decided you needed to do something about both of them or else you were probably going to go crazy. First, though, you had some formal paperwork to take care of with Tony in order to have legal guardianship of her.
"I don't know what to do about it, Stank," You sighed, hours later. Tony wrinkled his nose slightly at the nickname but listened. "Half of this I honestly still can't fill out for you because she won't pick a name. I don't know how to make her socialize and I sure don't know how to get Loki to spill what's bugging him." Tony got up and walked to your side, putting his hand on your shoulder.
"I'm not sure what to tell you either, Shiny."
"Watch it," You hissed, whipping out a knife you always kept on your person and holding it dangerously close to his baby-maker. He backed away quickly.
"Maybe you just need to corner your husband and, uh, pull that trick on him," He chuckled nervously. "Ok, well, um, just hold onto that paperwork and send it to me when it's done, alright?" You nodded and gathered it together before heading back to your floor. It was early afternoon and you thought you may have a shot at talking to your husband while Helius took her nap. She'd found her own little routine to keep her occupied during the day in her room even when you weren't there. But you always had to be home when she slept because of her nightmares and she refused to socialize with others.
"I'll be in the bedroom until dinner is ready," Loki said upon your return.
"Can we please talk first?" You asked.
"There's nothing to discuss," He replied, quickly walking to the bedroom and slamming the door.
"Oh yes there is!" You exclaimed, teleporting yourself inside the bedroom.
"I hate when you do that!" He yelled.
"Well I hate when you do this! Now man up and tell me what's wrong or I really will back you in a corner with my knife!"
"I don't want to talk about it, alright?" He hissed. "Now keep your voice down or else you'll alert the child that we're having a disagreement."
"Oh, so you're finally acknowledging her?" A guilty expression flashed over his face and he turned away. "What is it, Loki?" You pleaded. "I don't want to argue. I just want to know what's going through your mind. Ever since we found her, you've been-"
"You found her," He said. "I want no part in raising a child that is not my own."
"What about your own blood?" You asked, wondering for your own future if he was against kids in general or not.
"I-" He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't know. But I certainly don't want to adopt. I've never seen a good result of adoption."
"Oh," You said slowly. "So that's what this is about."
"What do you mean?"
"You're worried about your own background. Is that it?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," He huffed, crossing his arms and further distancing himself from you.
"Loki, please. Listen to me. You may not have had the best family situation yourself, but that doesn't mean you won't be a great Dad. I think-no-I know you'd do wonderfully! Please believe me!"
"I-"
"Mommy!" A voice called out, sounding frightened. Your eyes and Loki's widened in surprise. She'd never called you that before.
"I had better check on her," You sighed. Loki nodded and you rushed off. Half an hour later you came out of her room to find Loki waiting for you on the couch.
"What happened?"
"More nightmares," You groaned and slumped down next to him.
"Is that why you're never in bed anymore?" He asked quietly.
"Yeah. It seems she can't go more than half an hour without having another one." He nodded silently and took your hand in his.
"Well, I suppose I should commend you for your sacrifices for her. I just don't know if I can-" You shushed him, pressing a finger to his lips.
"I understand, Loki," You smiled sadly. "Mind you, I don't exactly agree. But I respect how you feel. I guess I can talk with Tony tomorrow about finding her a new home." You got up quickly, to hide your own emotions from him, and went to prepare dinner. That night, Loki made you go to bed extra early so you could actually get some sleep. You appreciated it, but your internal clock had gotten so used to it already that it woke you up a few hours later about the time Helius would be having her first nightmare. When you didn't hear anything from her room, you got worried. You rushed out of your bedroom and, as you approached her room, heard voices.
"Where's mommy?" Helius cried, again sounding frightened. Drawing your knife outside her closed door, you were ready to teleport in a surprise whatever intruder was there.
"She's sleeping, sweetheart. Do you think your new Dad could help you?" You nearly cried at hearing Loki's voice so soft and gentle with her. It took you a few more seconds to process that he'd referred to himself as her 'Dad'.
"I thought you hated me," She whispered.
"I don't hate you, little one," He assured her. "Do you want to know why I haven't talked to you yet?" You didn't hear a reply but as Loki went on you could only assume she nodded. "I never had a good father. And when you came along a week ago, I was so worried that if I tried to be your father I would mess something up. And I couldn't let that happen because you are too wonderful and too beautiful."
"I don't have a beautiful name," she sighed.
"Hasn't mommy come up with any good ideas?" He asked.
"No, well, yes but I didn't like any of them. They're pretty but," she trailed off, leaving the sentence unfinished.
"May I suggest one of my personal favorites?" You cracked the door open just a little so you could see. Their backs were to you, sitting on the edge of the bed. Loki had his arm wrapped around her as she curled onto his side, dwarfed by his height even sitting. She nodded slowly in reply to his question. "How about Arabella?"
"I love it!" She exclaimed, standing quickly and jumping up and down. "Thank you, Dad," She said smiling brightly as she threw her arms around his neck for a hug. He was surprised but gladly gave her a somewhat awkward hug back. "But what if the monsters come back?" She asked, voice trembling slightly.
"I'll protect you."
"Always?"
"I, Loki of Asgard, hereby make a promise to you, Arabella, my daughter. I'll be here to protect you forever and always." Arabella hugged him again and started crying. "Why are you crying, my dear?"
"Because you're the most bestest Dad I could ever ask for."
"Well, I, uh, thank you," He stuttered, not used to that kind of compliment. "I've got an idea. How about tomorrow morning I introduce you to some of the others here?"
"Why? I don't wanna!" You bit back a chuckle at her childish exclamation.
"But they're all really nice and they'll be like your new Aunts and Uncles!"
"Well, maybe," She conceded.
"Good! Now why don't you go back to sleep and I'll stay right here until all the monsters go away for tonight." She nodded and gave him another hug before allowing him to tuck her in. You smiled, wiping away your own tears, and snuck back to your bedroom. A couple hours later, Loki snuck back in himself.
"So how's the bestest Dad doing?" You whispered. Loki tensed up when you said that.
"So you heard us?" He said. You got up and wrapped your arms around his waist from behind.
"Yep," you said. "And I couldn't be happier. You really mean it? This means I don't have to talk to Tony tomorrow?"
"Absolutely not!" He replied grinning.
"Well then I have some very exciting news for you." He turned around, quirking his eyebrows questioningly. "How would you like to be a father to two?"

Tumblr media
featuring: midoriya, bakugo, todoroki, kirishima, kaminari, shinso, amajiki, and dabi
for anyone who might be feeling lonely today, enjoy a lil something from ur fav bnha boy who loves u!
midoriya is one that gets nervous but tries hard to turn it into excitement when thinking about what he’s going to do for or with you on valentine’s day. as an aspiring hero, he always wants to put a smile on others’ faces and you’re no different. actually, you could be an exception because he loves you and those feelings are different from acts of altruism. rather, he wants to give you something straight from his heart. he’s always wanted to cook dinner for someone else, even after he’s always had his mom make him anything he wanted. he receives some basic guidance for her over the phone but he still has zero clue what he’s doing until kacchan stumbles upon him in the dorm kitchen struggling to cut onions. after some threats, yelling, and lots of arguing, the two manage to make a decent meal, actually a whole spread of food for the night. you’ve never had someone put that much thought or make dinner for you so its absolutely surreal when he presents it to you. the meal itself is really good and the night ends with the you both falling into food comas on the couch, relaxing into one another.
bakugo seems very distant leading up to the day. he didn’t seem like the type to make a big deal out of valentine’s day. then again, he had never gotten many chances to celebrate it, except reluctantly with classmates and his parents. you didn’t mind how he felt about it but it was strange that you hadn’t seen much of him the past few days. on the day, you want to not think about his absence so you decide to get some training in. not an hour passes before bakugo storms in, “there you are, IDIOT! i’ve been looking everything for you! you’re coming with me..” he doesn’t allow you time to change or shower and instructs you to close your eyes as he leads you by the hand somewhere. he voice goes soft as he stops and tells you to open your eyes. you open them to see your favorite dessert sitting in front of you and a lit candle to complete the ambience. you’re in complete awe. you knew he could cook but had no idea he could bake but he explains that sato helped him with the recipe and how he almost gave up the whole thing because he couldn’t get it right the first few times. he admits it might still not be perfect but he loves you so very much and-- he doesn’t even get to finish his sentence before you’re silencing him with a kiss.
todoroki could give you anything you wanted on a regular basis, being the son of a pro hero and all. it’s this ceiling effect that gets him in a bind for what to do for you because naturally he’d just spoil you extra. but something tells him he shouldn’t focus on the material items but rather the gesture, the sentiment, maybe even the experience. the beginning of the day is slow and lazy, with him coming to your room early in the morning to lay with you in bed. being the sleepy boy he is, he ends up falling asleep on you and you follow close behind. luckily, he set an alarm so you wouldn’t miss what he has planned. he takes you to a hot spring in a secluded location, where you (appropriately) share one together. it’s really nice and relaxing and a different type of alone you get to spend with him. he tries to rub your feet but you won’t let him because you’re ticklish and that starts a little tickle war. you surrender by wrapping your arms tightly around his neck as your ribs ache from laughing so hard. you stare at each other while catching your breath, lips slowly drawing closer. it’s all around a beautiful moment with such a pretty and kind-hearted boy.
kirishima would save as much as he could to be able to spoil you on this day. he figures; that’s what it’s for, right? this man would try to go above and beyond for you any day because you’re so worth it to him but valentine’s is truly his day to shine. he decides to put together a scavenger hunt which involves one long tour of your previous dates, like the buffet restaurant and the arcade. he even sneaks in little nostalgic things during your time as a couple, like at the park where he learned how you liked to lay on your stomach while he’d draw little shapes on your back. it’s crazy but so fun and cute and special. it ends in a random backside of a building at UA and it’s familiar but you’re confused as to why he brought you here. “this was the place where you first told me you were interested in me..and i was so nervous but so flattered that someone as wonderful as you could like me.” and he goes on and on but he can’t help that he feels so much love for you, which is something he didn’t really think he’d get to experience. he’s oh so grateful to have you and so are you to have the manliest, cutest, sweetest boyfriend ever.
kaminari feels the pressure of making your first valentine’s with him the best day you’ve ever had and tries to put on a front but fails. he loves that you’re so easygoing and chill with anything but he wants to make the day special. he wants to go above and beyond for you because you deserve it so much. he really likes the idea of an private outdoor dinner because the ambience is already pretty romantic. he sets it all up and when the time comes, he’s just too excited and can’t keep it a secret. he leads you outside as he tells you that he strung up all these lights but when you get out there, it’s real dark. he goes, “this is the best part.” he uses his quirk to simultaneously light up the small bulbs dangling from the strings. unfortunately, several of them blow a fuse and shatter, diminishing the full effect. you both laugh it off like normal and he says he was prepared for that, pulling out a lighter to light the candles on the table. it’s sweet and thoughtful, but don’t think you’ve escaped the ‘are you trying to romance me’ tiktok references. it’s okay though because a denki date night wouldn’t be complete without them.
shinso is similar to bakugo when it comes to valentine’s, except he’s more so indifferent, rather than not caring about it. he’d be the type to ask you what you want or would like to do but he realizes that was a lost cause because of course you tell him it doesn’t really matter to you and you’d be happy with whatever. you’re so lovely to him everyday, despite his insecurities and trust qualms, so he silently promises to give you a day that you deserve. he tells you he has a surprise. it’s easy to hide as he takes you to your favorite cat cafe, a place where you two are regulars. there’s one cat there, a black and white tuxedo cat, that you are particularly fond of. he enjoys watching you smile as the cat rubs up against you and lays in your lap. you’ve completely forgotten about why you were there until he tells you that the cat is yours if you want him. you’re in complete disbelief but he tells you that he had arranged it with the owner of the cafe, who had noticed that the cat was very skittish and avoidant of other people, except for you. “and i told him, ‘yeah, me too.’”
amajiki is nervous, of course. probably more nervous than on a regular basis. he knows he shouldn’t be because you’re so wonderful and accept anything he’s done for you with your sweet smile and kisses. he doesn’t like going out to public places too often but he wants to take you to several that you’ll both enjoy and he’ll feel somewhat comfortable. every place has something to do with nature: a zoo, an aquarium, and finally, a butterfly garden which he remembered you mentioning how you had always wanted to go to one. although he knows butterflies are gentle creatures, he isn’t so big on bugs in general, especially when there’s hundreds of them flying around him. you hold his hand the entire time, relaxing him as time goes by. you giggle as they land on the tips of his ears, making him smile as their delicate legs tickle his skin. he grins at your reaction as he pulls you closer. “nothing compares to your butterfly kisses, bunny.” he leans in to blink against your skin, his lashes brushing lightly like wings. you return the gesture to him, hugging him close to you as he pets your hair. he can be shy but your own little love language made up for it.
dabi has never been into something as trivial as a day about love. to him, it’s like any other day. but he never expected that he’d be scrambling around the city to find the perfect flowers to give to you. it’s the least he could do but it could never make up for everything you’ve done for him. you’ve made him feel loved and wanted; having proven it by sticking by him this entire time, such as the fact that he’s now a wanted criminal. he has to be discrete. this doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have standards and wouldn’t give you just any flower that was thrown out or forgotten. he starts to get frustrated as he stalks around in a forest and lets his quirk burn off a little steam, catching the trees and foliage into blue flames. then he sees it. you’re a little on edge when he gets home, worried that something had happened after you hadn’t seen him all day. he reminds you what day it is and then holds up what he found: a lonely flower, singed a bit on the ends of the petals but intact and tall. he explains that it reminded him of you, your relationship, what you mean to him. it’s rough around the edges and imperfect but resilient and strong.

Fake Dating pt. 2
M Faerie X F human reader, 6,405 words
This is a part two to this story. Elwain and his human are safely in the human world, dealing with things far more mundane than an assassination attempt. Both of them are adjusting to the new life and to each other. Very fluffy, with some caretaking. I was in a very romantic mood while writing this and I think you can tell.
Content notes: mentions of parents trying to kill their child, descriptions of minor illness.
“This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Why do humans like this?”
You repressed a snicker. “You’re watching it.”
Elwain didn’t even look away from the screen to reply. “You put it on.”
“I just turned on the TV. You’re the one who started watching.” Elwain made a noncommittal noise. You pressed your lips together, trying not to smile. “I can change the channel, if you want. There’s a documentary on that I wanted to-”
“No, this is fine,” Elwain said. He hopped onto the couch next to you and curled up. “Ugh. These people know that expensive doesn’t mean good, right?”
You covered your mouth with a hand. Elwain actually, legitimately enjoying trashy reality shows was by far the best thing you’d learned about his personality since you’d started living together. The worst thing was probably that he’d grown up with servants and had no comprehension of household chores. It had taken a few weeks to get him to put his food back in the refrigerator when he was done with it, and you weren’t sure he was ever going to get the hang of doing dishes. Still. He was getting better.
“You’re still going to need to vacuum later tonight,” you reminded him. Elwain groaned.
“I spent all day at work!” he said. “I should get a day off.”
“You only had a five hour shift today. I worked seven. Plus, I have school. You don’t get breaks on household chores. Doesn’t matter how much you worked, they still have to be done.” Elwain looked away sulkily. That was an expression you were getting uncomfortably familiar with. “And you’re not allowed to do magic for it, either.”
“What? Just because you can’t use magic, there is no reason for me to be forbidden!” Elwain said.
“Yeah, sure. You remember what happened last time you used magic to clean the apartment?” Bright pink spots appeared on Elwain’s cheeks. He glared down at the couch, expression screwed up in irritation.
“I fixed that.”
“Uh, yeah. Sure. You fixed the apartment. What you’re never going to fix is my trauma from walking into my apartment and finding everything covered in spiders!”
“I apologized!”
“Look, the next time you decide to enchant a bunch of bugs into doing household chores, just. Don’t.”
Elwain huffed. “They weren’t even venomous to humans! All of you are so easily frightened. They weren’t going to hurt you.”
“I think the heart attack I had upon entering my own apartment could be considered as hurting me,” you muttered. Elwain looked sour, but didn’t respond, apparently returning to his TV show. Elwain’s adjustment to the human world had been… difficult. He had no real understanding of conventional social norms and obviously still expected everyone to treat him like a noble, despite working a minimum wage job at a fast-food restaurant. Not to mention that he seemed to have very loose morals when it came to enchanting mortals. As far as you were aware, he’d never done it to you, but he didn’t seem to have any sort of restraint when it came to anyone else. Before he’d gotten his job in customer service, he’d made all of his money by charming random people off the street into handing over their wallets.
Admittedly, his skills had come in handy. You didn’t feel particularly good about it, but he had charmed the landlord into giving you the apartment for significantly less than the going rate. In your defense, there hadn’t been many options. You couldn’t stay in your parent’s house with a Fae hanging around, and even with both of you working, there was no way to afford an apartment otherwise.
It did not help that Elwain apparently found your moral crisis very funny.
“You all live by such dumb rules all the time. If you really wanted, I could probably charm someone into giving us their house, or just letting us stay there.”
“That feels morally dubious,” you said.
“Ugh. You won’t let me steal anything, you won’t let me charm people into letting us use their things without stealing them, you won’t even let me charm people into handing some things over!” Elwain flopped across the couch. “So now we’re living in a garbage apartment and I have to work at a greasy food place where customers yell all the time and-”
“It’s a nice apartment, especially considering what we’re paying for it,” you interrupted. “And if you use magic too often, people might start figuring out that something weird is going on.”
“I doubt it. Mortals are stupid.” But Elwain didn’t protest, and went to his job as usual, and didn’t steal, which was more respect for your rules than you were worried he’d show. And, really, you were glad you’d instated the ‘no magic’ rule at large, given how unpredictable the results could be.
Elwain sprawled across the couch. He had a tendency to take up ridiculous amounts of space, pushing you to the edges of the couch to avoid contact. Eventually, you got up.
“Where are you going?” Elwain asked as you walked out of the room.
“I’m going to study for a bit before bed,” you called back. “Enjoy your show.”
He stared after you until your door clicked shut. Weird. He’d seemed almost annoyed about you leaving, even though it meant he could watch his shows for longer and you would stop bugging him about vacuuming. Whatever. He’d been acting weird recently, though. Maybe you should talk to him about it. He’d seemed fine for the first month or so after leaving his home and his parents trying to kill him, but maybe he was having some sort of delayed reaction.
You buried yourself in your textbooks for the next few hours, trying to get a solid start on one of your papers. The back of your mind seemed to be focused on the little noises in the apartment, though. Every sound of footsteps or things being moved pulled your attention back to the rest of the house. Eventually, you heard the sound of the vacuum running for a while before Elwain headed into his room.
He never went back into the main area of your apartment and, buried in work, you were soon thoroughly distracted. Gradually, as you worked, your mind grew less and less focused until you were face down in your books, dead asleep.
“Wake up!”
You bolted upright. There was a piece of paper sticking to your cheek from a stream of drool. You hurriedly pulled it off. “What? What’s going on?” You blinked, focusing on Elwain’s fine face in front of you. “What are you doing in my room?”
“Your alarm was going off. I can’t believe you didn’t hear it. It woke me up.” Sure enough, your phone, which was still sitting across the room from you, on its charger, was ringing furiously. You weren’t surprised that you hadn’t noticed it, though. Your head felt like someone had stuffed it with cotton.
“Oh. Sorry.” You rose a little unsteadily and turned the alarm off. “Thanks for waking me. Probably would have slept right through it if you hadn’t.”
“Uh huh,” Elwain said. “Did someone curse you?”
You blinked at him. He seemed dead serious. “Uh, no. I doubt it. Unless you know something I don’t.”
“If you’re asking about my parents, I would assume they are no longer concerned about me,” Elwain said. His voice was clipped, like it always was when he talked about his parents. “I don’t think they would bother to curse a mortal. If they had the means to lay a curse on someone, it would be far easier and more effective to just curse me.” He paused. “I was only asking because you look terrible.”
“Thanks,” you mumbled.
“You do. Why didn’t you sleep in your actual bed last night?” he asked.
“Because I fell asleep at my desk by accident. Are you going to stand here and just insult me or-” You broke off into a round of thick, hacking coughs. Elwain took a step back, alarm crossing his face.
“What is happening to you?” He lifted his arms in front of him, like he was trying to ward off some kind of evil spirit.
“It’s a cough,” you said. “Have you never seen a cough before?”
Elwain lowered his arms, still looking at me like he thought you would start convulsing at any moment. “Fae don’t do that.”
“They don’t cough?” You rubbed at your chest. A significant amount of phlegm had settled there. God, your body really had to pick the worst time to get sick.
“Not like that,” he said. “What’s the matter with you?”
“I’m sick,” you told him.
He nodded slowly. “I’ve heard of that. A mortal thing. Your forms are weak, so you occasionally fall ill. It is a sign of your small, failing lifespans.”
You considered correcting him, but decided that you had better ways to spend your morning than trying to explain germ theory to a Faerie. “Yeah. Sure. Well. I’m sick. So that’s why I’m coughing. It’s just a cold. I’ll be fine.”
Elwain narrowed his eyes. “Hmph. Well. I have work. Don’t die while I’m out.”
“I’m not in any danger of dying,” you told him. “Go head to work. Have fun.”
“That’s unlikely,” he muttered, but he left your room without protest. You closed your door after him and set about getting ready for your day.
The cold had settled into your head and chest and you could tell it was going to be bad already, even before it had come on fully. God. You could not afford to get sick.
Elwain was eating breakfast when you shuffled into the kitchen. You’d needed to absolutely cake your face in makeup to look presentable, and you saw his brows rise as he looked at you. Fortunately, the Fae at least knew how to keep their mouths shut. He just looked back at the frozen waffles he was toasting.
You snagged a granola bar and headed for the door. “Have a good day at work!” you called over your shoulder. Elwain grunted in response. The door swung shut behind you.
Work was exhausting, as per usual. It was better than Elwain’s job by a long shot, since you were working in a local candy store run by a sweet older couple, but between keeping an eye on any batches of candy being produced, sorting out customers, and having to deal with the requisite child-throwing-a-fit-for-not-getting-sweets, it was tiring. Trying to look bright and perky while being weighted down with a cold was awful.
As soon as work was off, you had class. Dragging yourself through it was a slow, painful slog. By the end, your head was fuzzy and you felt dead on your feet. Slowly, you hauled yourself on the bus and fell asleep.
Naturally, you missed your stop.
About an hour after you were supposed to be home, you dragged yourself in through the door. Elwain practically slammed into you. His hands clapped on either side of his face and he peered intently at you. “Where have you been? I’ve been calling you! I thought you were dead!”
You pushed him off you and bent to one side to cough heavily until you were nearly sagging to the floor. Elwain stared at you. “Sorry,” you rasped when you’d stopped. “I fell asleep. And then my phone was on low battery and I wanted to make sure I had enough battery to use my GPS to get home.”
“You couldn’t have texted me?” Elwain drew himself up, hands on his hips. The entire situation reminded you, ridiculously, of your mom when you came home after a night out. “I was worried! I didn’t know where you were, and mortals are so ridiculously fragile-”
“Aw, you’d have been fine,” you said. “If anything, you’d be able to do more without my stupid mortal morals.”
Elwain’s expression went strange for a moment. “Are you feeling well? You seem… off.”
“I’m not feeling well. I’d like to lie down, actually.” You coughed again. “That okay with you?” Elwain was still frowning, but he stepped aside, allowing you down the hall and into your room.
You went down into your bed face-first. Almost as soon as you hit the pillows, your mind faded into sleep. Sleep came to you in fitful waves. You kept waking, coughing, rolling over and falling asleep again. When your alarm pulled you back to full consciousness, you felt thoroughly awful. The cold had settled firmly into your chest and head, gumming everything up. Your chest rasped every time you breathed in, prompting heavy coughing fits, you shivered even when you were wrapped in blankets, and your head felt full, achy, and cloudy.
The cold had apparently decided to upgrade to a full-blown illness. Slowly, you shoved yourself upright. It was hard to breathe through your nose and your mouth. Your throat stung with every inhale. Every cell of your body just wanted to pop some of the cold medicine that made you sleep and hopefully you’d wake up when it was all over.
Just as you were standing up, someone knocked on your door.
Well, you knew who. There was only one person who it could be. Grimacing, you walked over to the door and pulled it open. “Elwain. What?”
He stared at you. “I was- are you okay?”
“I’m sick. You remember the discussion was had yesterday?” you said. “Anyway. You needed something?”
Elwain looked you over. You hadn’t looking into a mirror, but given his expression, you probably looked terrible. He seemed to think you were five seconds from crumbling into a pile of ash, like a vampire exposed to sunlight. “Do I need to call 911?” he asked.
“Uh, no. It’s a cold. I don’t need an ambulance. I need to sleep for a while. Why are you knocking on my door?” you asked. Elwain’s mouth moved wordlessly. Whatever he had wanted to talk to you about, it seemed to have been completely derailed.
“I… er.” Elwain’s gaze flicked over you again. “Well. I wanted to see how you were doing. You went to bed right after you got home last night and I never saw you again. And you seem to be doing… poorly.”
“Yeah. I’m not doing great. I really just want to go back to bed.” You rubbed your hand over your head. “I feel like shit.”
Elwain hesitated. “Do you need me to do something?”
“Just go about your day. I’ll try to keep my gross self out of your way.” You slouched across your room to your bed. “If you don’t need anything else, I’m going to try to get a little more sleep.”
Elwain lingered in the doorway for a few moments longer. Finally, he turned and headed into the kitchen. The door remained open behind him, and you couldn’t be bothered to get up and close it again. Instead, you buried your head in your pillow. Sleep claimed you again within moments.
Less than an hour later, your alarm went off again. You slapped at it balefully until it shut off. Somehow, it felt like you gotten negative sleep, like sleeping had made you even more tired. Slowly, painfully, you pushed yourself upright. Shivers wracked your frame. How had sleep made everything worse?
You threw on the first clothes that you could get your hands on and shuffled into the kitchen. Elwain looked up from his breakfast. His mouth opened slightly. “Good lord. Maybe you have been cursed.”
“Thanks,” you mumbled. “I don’t look that bad.” You did, but you’d slathered enough makeup on your face to cover most of it. Then again, maybe that wasn’t enough to hide from Fae eyes.
“You look like a walking corpse,” Elwain said. You collapsed in the seat next to him and coughed into your fist. The force of the motion made your head throb. Elwain curled his lips back from his teeth in a grimace. “Are you certain you don’t need me to call 911?”
“No. It’s a cold. I’m-” You dissolved into a fit of coughing so severe it was difficult to catch your breath. Elwain stared at you, eyes wide. “I’m fine,” you croaked.
Elwain narrowed his eyes, but returned to his phone. You didn’t know where he’d gotten it from, because he certainly hadn’t purchased it, but you’d decided you weren’t going to ask. You ate slowly, mostly because your stomach felt tender, and you couldn’t finish even half of your normal portion. After a while of picking at your food, you dumped your dishes in the sink and started gathering your items to head out.
“Where are you going?” You startled. Elwain had appeared at your shoulder, completely silent. You might have chalked up not noticing him to your cold-dulled senses, but he could sneak up on you no matter how well you were feeling.
“Work,” you said.
Elwain looked back down at his phone. “You are not supposed to leave the house if you’re sick.”
“It’s a cold. I’ll be fine,” you said.
Elwain kept looking at his phone. “If you are sick, you are supposed to stay home, both so you can avoid infecting others and so you can recover.”
“Are you reading that off a website? Where are you reading that from?” You tried to grab his phone, but he gracefully slipped out of your reach.
“I searched about human illnesses on the internet,” he said. “Your symptoms are consistent with the common cold, but they are also consistent with pneumonia. It says you should sleep and drink water until you are recovered.”
“Look,” you said. “I’m fine. It’s a cold. I’ve had them before. I will have them after this one. I know how to handle them. I’ll pop some cold medicine and I’ll be fine.” Elwain stared at you. His expression was hard to read. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll live.” You sniffed and blotted at your face with a tissue. “I’m going to leave now. I’ll see you later.”
You swept out the door, giving Elwain a wave. He stared after you, not moving until you slammed the door shut.
It was a long, slow, awful day. You could barely keep your head together. By the time you got home, your limbs were heavy with exhaustion and your mind was swimming.
You dragged yourself through the door. Your body felt like you were wrapped in a massive, thick blanket. Everything was warm and it was hard to move, like everything was stiff.
Elwain stared at you as you pulled yourself into the kitchen. “You look like death warmed over.”
“Fine,” you mumbled. “’m fine.” You slouched over the counter and leaned against it. Elwain stood, stepping closer to you. “I’m good. I… I’m good. Just… Tired. Tired. Need to nap.”
“Perhaps you should nap in your room,” Elwain said. “Not on the counter.”
“I’m fine here.” Your words were getting mushy. Why weren’t your lips moving correctly? “I’m good. I just, um. Need. Something…”
“It’s okay. You’re okay. Here, hold onto me. I’ll-” Elwian’s hands were on your waist, on your back. You felt boneless, mushy. Your limbs weren’t moving the way you wanted them to. The only thing you could feel were Elwain’s hands supporting you. Was he carrying you? Maybe. You felt like you were floating. Your head was disconnected from your body, floating. Someone was speaking to you from far away, a soothing voice. It was so soothing. Maybe you could just sleep for a bit. Just sleep. It would be nice to just sleep.
Dimly, you came back to yourself. You blinked your eyes open. The ceiling was unfamiliar, at least as ceilings went. Not that you were familiar with many ceilings, really. Looking down at yourself revealed why the ceiling was so unfamiliar. The bed was covered in heavy, dark blue sheets. Elwain’s sheets. You were in his bed.
Slowly, you pushed yourself upright. You still felt bad, but less bad than you had been feeling. A raking cough escaped your chest, thick with phlegm.
“You’re up!” Elwain appeared in the doorway. He looked… frazzled? You weren’t sure the Fae could look as frazzled and unkempt as a human could, but he didn’t look as ethereally beautiful as he usually did. He looked sort of ruffled. “I was considering dragging you to the hospital, but the internet said that maybe ginger tea would actually be better, so I got you some of that.” He indicated the cup in his hands.
“You have got to stop getting all your information from the internet. Or at least I need to give you a media literacy course on identifying good sources,” you croaked. Your voice sounded bad, but it no longer hurt to speak. It just felt uncomfortable.
Elwain gave you a bewildered look and held the cup out toward you. “Drink it.” You took it obligingly and took a sip. Elwain must have dumped half a bottle of honey in it, because it was so sweet you almost couldn’t taste the ginger. You swallowed it carefully.
“Thank you,” you said when you’d finished the cup. “What, uh. What exactly happened to me?”
Elwain sat on the end of your bed. He was wearing his old cloak, the one he’d taken with him when he’d fled from Faerie. He tucked it tighter around him, fingers fidgeting at the hem. “I was hoping you could inform me of that, actually. I was quite frightened when you collapsed like that.”
“Oh, yeah,” you said. Vaguely, you remembered passing out. “How long was I out?”
Elwain glanced at the clock. “Mn. Less than an hour? You were in and out for the first ten minutes, mumbling a lot.” You had vague memories of Elwain leaning over you, expression panicked. Must have been from then. “Once I got you into bed, you fell asleep. I wasn’t sure if I should wake you or not.”
“It is,” you said. “Probably a good idea to let me sleep. Though if I ever do collapse again, please call 911.” You considered. “Well, I guess don’t call 911 unless I’m actually dying. I can’t afford the ambulance.”
Elwain nodded, even though he looked politely confused. “Is your illness getting worse?”
“Maybe,” you said. “It’s hard to tell. I think I have a fever now, so that sucks.”
With absolutely no warning, Elwain leaned forward. His face was abruptly so close to yours, close enough to feel his cool breath tickling your skin. The hairs on the back of your neck lifted. Suddenly the only thoughts in your head had to do with his lips pressing to yours, his cool mouth meandering along your skin-
His forehead touched yours. His eyes closed, a little furrow appearing in his brow. “You’re warm,” he said. “Very warm.” He sat back.
You blinked. “Uh. You can do that with your hand, you know.”
“Oh? I saw the forehead one on the internet,” Elwain said, but he reached up and cradled your face in his hands. With a soft, delicate touch, the back of his hand brushed against your forehead and down your cheek. The touch made something in your chest tighten and your breath catch. “You still feel warm.”
You moved your mouth, trying to get your brain back in gear. “Uh, yeah. Fever! That’s, uh. Bad. I need, um. You remember that pill bottle in the bathroom I showed you? The one with the little red pills?” Elwain nodded. “Get those and a glass of water. They’ll bring the fever down.”
Elwain vanished for a moment and returned with a tall glass water and the bottle of pills. He watched as you downed them and sank back into bed. His sheets were softer than yours, his bed even more luxuriously plush. You weren’t sure where he’d gotten the sheets from, or if maybe they were the sheets you’d bought him, just augmented with magic. “Why did you put me in your bed, anyway?” you asked. “My bed’s not that much further away.”
“I wanted to keep an eye on you,” Elwain said. “And you do not like me coming in your room.”
“I don’t like you just walking into my room whenever you feel like it, but you can come into my room,” you said. But you were pretty glad he’d put you in his bed. Everything in his room smelled faintly floral and herbal, a smell that relaxed you. Everything was cozy.
“I am not familiar with how to deal with sick mortals,” Elwain said. “Do you need anything else?”
“No. I just need to rest.” You paused, looking toward the window. “I should probably head back to my own room, actually. You’ll probably want to sleep here tonight, right?”
Elwain shook his head. “Stay. You need to rest. I will sleep elsewhere.” He swept out of the room, cloak fluttering behind him. You stared after him for a moment before sinking back into bed. Despite just waking up, your head was already muddy again. Maybe Elwain had gotten you the pills with the sleeping medicine in them. Your eyes closed. Within moments, you were drifting away, fast asleep.
You dreamed of strange things, of hands on your face, cupping your cheek, of soft lips pressed to your neck, of kind eyes and strong arms carrying you around. When you opened your eyes to see the same kind eyes staring down at you, you were half-convinced you were still dreaming.
“Hello,” Elwain said. “You have been asleep for a while.”
You blinked. Your body did have that foggy heaviness that came when you’d been sleeping deeply. Even your discomfort from the illness seemed far away and dim. “Elwain.”
“Yes. I’m right here.” He said it more gently than a simple statement of fact, almost like a reassurance.
“How long was I out?” There was bright sunlight streaming in through the window and across the bed. You lifted a hand to clumsily shield your eyes.
“Over twelve hours. I thought you should probably sleep. That’s what the internet said.”
“Oh, man, we are going to need to get you some better resources than just ‘the internet,’” you said. “But you were right. Thanks for letting me sleep.” Slowly, you shoved yourself up into a sitting position. “What’s that?”
Elwain held a bowl out to you. “I was told that soup was good for mortal illnesses.”
You took the bowl of vegetable broth. Elwain’s cooking was usually pretty hit or miss- he could follow recipes just fine, but he also had a habit of deciding that he had a better idea than the recipe and going completely off the rails. The soup just seemed to be broth, though. You took a cautious sip. It was watery, but tolerable.
“Are you feeling better?” Elwain asked. You nodded, glancing over at the clock.
“It’s past nine,” you noticed. “Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”
“I called in sick. I wanted to stay home to make sure you were all right.” Elwain looked completely serious.
“It’s just a cold. I’m fine.”
Elwain’s eyes narrowed. “You collapsed.”
“Well, yeah, but…” You trailed off. There wasn’t much you could say in response to that. “Fine. But if you get fired for this, I’m going to be pissed.”
“I will not be fired. My boss loves me.” Elwain gave a superior little sniff, nose stuck up in the air. You laughed into your bowl of broth.
When you were finished, Elwain took your bowl back into the kitchen, returning only a few moments later. “Do you need anything else?”
“I think I’m okay,” you said. “You really didn’t have to stay home to take care of me. There’s not going to be a lot to do. I think I’m mostly going to sleep.”
“Regardless. I think it is better to be safe.” Elwain looked at you from the doorway for a moment longer. “I need you.”
He left the doorway. You could hear his footsteps retreating into your apartment, perfectly steady, like what he said hadn’t made your chest tighten intensely. You sank back into his bed. His scent wreathed around you, gentle and reassuring. Oh, god. Warm feelings were fluttering up in your stomach, swelling through chest and trembling in your lungs. Worse than that, they felt familiar. How long had these feelings been lingering in the background of your mind? And now they had surfaced and you didn’t know what to do with them. Naturally, you would have some kind of emotional crisis when you were sick.
You faded in and out of dreams where Elwain’s scent wreathed around you and his gentle hands stroked your forehead and cheeks. You woke up feeling oddly melancholy.
The sounds of the TV drifted through the open door. Shaking some feeling back into your heavy limbs, you hauled a blanket over your shoulders and headed into the living room.
Elwain was draped over the couch, staring at the TV. There was some soap opera on with a woman and a man hysterically throwing themselves at each other. Elwain looked up as you padded into the room. “Is it okay for you to be out of bed?” he asked.
“Yeah. I feel better, actually.” The sleep had helped quite a bit. You still felt foggy, but the pain in your head and chest had faded. Elwain sat up, drawing his limbs in closer to himself so you could sit next to him.
“You look less… corpse-like,” he said. Before you realized what he was doing, he took hold of your face in both hands and pulled you closer to him. “You are still warm.”
“Uh, yeah. I’m getting better.” You reached up and carefully pried his fingers off your face. You were overly aware of how your fingers lingered together. “How’s your day off going?”
“Human TV is still strange,” Elwain said, turning back toward the screen. “I can’t imagine any humans really behave like this. I have never seen it.”
“No, it’s a soap opera. It’s supposed to be deliberately over-the-top and crazy. That’s why they’re fun to watch.” Elwain rolled his eyes, but there was amusement in his expression.
“Is there anything you want to watch?” he asked.
“No, this is fine.” You settled into the soft cushions, staring at the TV. As much as you were looking in the direction of the TV, most of your attention was focused on Elwain. His gaze kept flicking toward you, as if he was unable to focus on the show either. After a moment, he reached out toward you.
One of his hands settled on your head, the other on your shoulder. Before you realized what had happened, he pushed you so your head was resting in his lap. You stared up at him as he, apparently unconcerned, started weaving his fingers through your hair.
“What are you doing?” you asked.
“You did this for me when I first came here,” Elwain said. “It was soothing. I thought you might like it as well.” He paused. “Was I incorrect?”
You considered for a moment. His fingers were still carding through your hair, twining strands around his fingers. “No. I don’t mind.”
Elwain continued to stroke your hair. His nails scratched lightly at your scalp. The feeling of being touched made something tremulous swell in your chest. It was a pleasant feeling, but one so sharp and overwhelming that it almost made you cry.
You lay with Elwain for a while, his hands absently playing with your hair and trailing along your head and neck. He seemed to be paying far more attention to you than to the TV. “You should take better care of yourself,” he said, stroking your bangs back from your forehead. “If you were to die, I would be alone in the mortal world.”
“You’d manage,” you said.
“Perhaps.” Elwain removed his hands from your hair and hesitated for a moment. He seemed to be struggling to speak. Then he sighed. “But I would prefer it if you were with me.”
You looked up at him. He was staring deliberately to one side. There was a faint pinkish color to his cheeks and his eyes were narrowed. “You could have left, once our deal was up. I only asked you to stay with me for the night. And yet, you helped me. There was no reason to. I no longer have my connections or any particular Faerie skills. Even the few powers that remain with me, you don’t like me using. You have gained nothing from this deal and you help me regardless.”
“Of course, I did.” Thinking about that night only brought one image to your mind. Elwain, who had nearly been killed by his own parents, looking lost and confused and abandoned. He had been cocky before, but in that moment, he had just looked forlorn and upset. He had just looked scared. “I wasn’t going to just leave you on your own.”
“You could have,” Elwain pressed on. “Easily, you could have. You could have justified it, even by mortal morals. There’s not a lot here that could kill me. As you have pointed out, I would be fairly fine on my own. But you stayed with me regardless, for no other reason than just helping me.”
“You’d just almost been assassinated. I couldn’t leave you,” you said.
“You could have. But you didn’t. And, at least so far, you have asked for nothing from me in return. To be quite honest, you’ve been almost annoying with how little you allow me to do.”
“I try,” you said. Elwain snorted. It was an inelegant noise, but somehow also incredibly attractive. “Where are you going with this?”
“I’m trying to explain to you that I care about you. I want you to be well and safe and healthy because you saved me and you didn’t have to and I appreciate it.” Elwain’s cheeks flamed red. “That’s what I’m trying to say.”
You reached up slowly and let your hand cradle the side of his face. He leaned into your touch, eyes closing. “It’s strange. I’m not used to this,” he said. “My parents loved me as far as they could use me. It’s how Faeries are. But you have used me for nothing, gained precious little advantage from having a Faerie living with you. And I wasn’t used to it. I still think I’m not used to it. But I am so… so… happy. For this. For you.” He blinked his eyes open. They were hazy with emotion. “Thank you.”
It was an impulse maybe you could have resisted if you were feeling better, but you were overwhelmed with feeling and not in the mood to fight with yourself. The hand on his cheek shifted position toward the back of his neck and pulled him down on top of you. His mouth pressed into yours, tense and unyielding, then softening as he realized what was happening.
There was a moment of fumbling, while Elwain registered that you were kissing. You broke away from his mouth, but he was pressing into you again, pulling you close to him and meeting your lips over and over with his own. His tongue brushed your lower lip and his moan sounded against your mouth.
You weren’t aware of how it happened, but suddenly you were lying back on the couch with Elwain on top of you. He was kissing you furiously, his hips flush to yours. Your fingers tangled in his hair, pushing him as close to you as you could get.
One of your gasping breaths caught in your chest, triggering a coughing fit. You rolled over, trying not to cough right into Elwain’s face. He sat back. His lips were already slightly kiss-swollen and he looked a bit rumpled. “Right,” he said, trying to finger-comb his hair back into a presentable state. “You’re still not feeling well.”
“Hold on. Give me a minute, we can keep going,” you said between coughs. Elwain pressed his lips together, but they were twitching toward a smile.
“You are admirably determined, but I think it would be better for you to rest,” he said. There was a pause. Elwain tugged on a few of the longer strands of his hair. “I take that to mean you feel the same way?”
“That I like you? Yeah.” You pulled him down so he was laying across your chest. He looked at you, eyes surprisingly wide and innocent. “When I first met you, I thought you were kind of an asshole. And you are kind of an asshole. But you’re also charming and endearing and you try to follow my rules even when you totally don’t have to. And you’re willing to take care of me when I’m sick.”
“You took care of me when I had lost everything,” Elwain said. “I only wished to return the favor.” His fingers wandered over your stomach, tracing absent patterns on your shirt. You could feel his warmth against your skin. “Usually, that’s how it works, with Faeries. Favors are given because giving means you can get something in return, and you’re always trying to leverage the deal to get more than what you’re giving.” He closed his eyes for a moment, brows furrowing. “But when I saw you were sick, I wasn’t thinking that I needed to pay you back. I was only thinking that I wanted to help you.”
You stroked your fingers through his hair. “That’s what love is.”
“Mortal love,” he sighed. “I always thought it was flimsy and weak and short-lived.” His eyes opened again and he nestled into you. “It’s much stronger than I thought. So much more than I believed. It almost hurts, but it’s a good hurt.”
You started coughing again. Elwain swung himself up and gathered you into his arms. “I’ll take you back to bed,” he said. “You need to get better. I want to continue this.” He pressed a kiss to your forehead. You rested your head on his shoulder and closed your eyes. His heartbeat thudded against you, slow and steady. The feeling of him holding you swelled and ached inside you, a pleasant ache. You clung to him as he eased you into bed and settled in next to you. Your illness was all but forgotten. Everything was soft and pleasant under a heady wave of love.

Can I please request for LoV content though this time the reader isn’t anyone’s s/o per say, just like everyone’s mama in a sense, always being the one who care for them and give them love, big spooning, cuddle, help them with various stuff. And because they are ‘LoV mama’ they are quiet dominant and everyone listens to them and respect them. Can I get headcannons for LoV interactions with her? And if possible for another post a sequel of how they will react when they found out that she has a lover who basically babies her and she likes it too. How will they react? Will they treat her differently? Jealous? Thank you so much!!!!! 💕💕💕💕
Awwwww 🥺 just let me know if you want me to tag you whenever I do the other post ❤️ it got really laggy before I could add more so… :’)
Just some small stuff, I’ll do like one shots and the other thing in another post or two if you want me to tag you or somethin lol
Part 2
Kurogiri
Lemme tell you right now, he is absolutely relieved because now he’s got someone else to “babysit” the league
He finally feels comfortable enough to have a day just to himself
^ He’s just happy he doesn’t have to constantly worry about Dabi burning down their base, or Shigaraki turning Toga to dust
He’s kind of like a kid in a way
^ Like he’s looking for praise in a way, but not really
Encourage him when he’s doing a good job
Let him vent when a certain brat pisses him off
And PLEASE help him discipline said brat
^ He will literally beg you, just do it please
He definitely appreciates you the most out of everyone
He likes getting a pat on the back when he’s doing a good job, or even just having a drink with you when “handjob” is finally asleep I had to I’m sorry I love that nickname so much
You’ve got either really insulting nicknames or really sweet ones for everyone in the league, but you guys only use them when it’s just you two
You guys randomly get Magne pride stuff, like the transgender flag or those pins you find everywhere during pride month
^ Sometimes Toga too
^ And you if you’re part of it, but he goes without you if it’s for you, because then it wouldn’t be a surprise
He likes head pats but that’s all he’s comfortable with
Shigaraki
Ok, he’s definitely a bitch to you too
^ at first at least
In general, he didn’t really like people and his tolerance for everyone was pretty low for a long time
The only people he interacted with were the same few people, and they basically spoiled and groomed him, so it takes him the longest to warm up to you
He doesn’t like being told no, so expect him to act like a toddler when you tell him he can’t do something
He does kind of like having another decent parental figure even though in his head afo’s a good dad
He might invite you to go with him to GameStop or something like that
^ Or maybe just to grab a quick snack from a ramen shop or something along the lines of that
He’s somewhere between a moody teenager and a four year old, just remember that
Please don’t get mad at him, he feels bad after an hour or two
^ Kurogiri has to make him apologize for whatever he did though because he’s too stubborn to do it himself
He lets you pick out one of his good controllers and headsets so you can play with him in your own room, or with him, he doesn’t mind
Once he’s fully comfortable with you, he’s clingy as hell
Always asks for hugs or head scratches, most likely both
He tries his best not to snap at you like he does with everyone else, and he probably has the most patience with you
He doesn’t really cuddle with you since it’d be a little weird if you guys aren’t dating, but he does hug you from behind every once in a while
Likes to be close to you in general
He likes when you take care of his scars and wounds for him, or when you get him to stop scratching his neck
^ Cause it shows you care, and he doesn’t really think anyone really does except for Kurogiri and AFO
Probably the touchiest one
Expect to be giving him some form of attention every second, whether it’s talking to him or just holding his wrist
Probably the one that enforces your rules honestly (if you have any)
Basically he’s a simp, but like the platonic kind of simp
Dabi
Dabi’s a bit like Shigaraki
It does take him a bit to open up, but only about half the amount of time it takes Shigaraki to
He does feel bad when you get mad, and it takes him about the same amount of time to feel guilty
He definitely invites you to go places with him, but it’s usually a bar or a good spot to commit arson
He’s basically a moody teenager, that’s it, so he’s at least manageable
Sometimes he goes with you to get snacks or drinks (soft drinks basically), but if he does, expect to be the one paying
Might give you a cigarette every once in a while if you smoke, and he always offers to light it for you
He definitely likes to vent to you about his day, or how Shigaraki’s been bugging him more than usual
^ It’s mainly because you’re the only one that listens though mainly
^ He still appreciates it though, don’t get it wrong
One of his favorite pastimes is to walk around the city at night with you and maybe Kurogiri
He’s not very touchy in general, so don’t expect anything more than a pat on the back
Sometimes though, if you want a hug or something he’ll let you get one from him
He’s still not touchy at all, so don’t ask for very much
^ Lemme put it this way, expect more from pretty much everyone else except him
Spinner
He always runs to you about Dabi picking on him for his quirk when Kurogiri’s not around
Sometimes he asks you to play a game with him, but not very often
^ Even Shigaraki probably asks more than Spinner does
He’s pretty quiet with you most of the time, and he won’t usually talk to you unless you start a conversation
^ Basically he only talks to you when he needs to
He’s not exactly the kind of guy that’ll go out for food with you since his quirk makes him pretty easy to spot, but he does offer to help cook every once in a while
He likes to show you his collection of knockoff stain clothing
He has made efforts to try to get to know you more, but he’s a little shy
Get him Stain merch and you’ll automatically be his favorite out of everyone in the league
^ Shigaraki might kill you though, just a heads up
Don’t touch him unless you’re treating his wounds, he’s worse than Dabi is
Magne
She loves going out with you and Toga
^ Could be for food, or maybe clothes shopping, hell, even just a walk
^ She just likes spending time with you, but yes, it is preferred if Toga and Twice could come along
She’s gotta be the sweetest person out of the whole league
She’s probably called you her sibling a few times just so you know her opinion on you
You’ve got at least a few matching shirts and jackets with her and Toga
She probably offers to help you around the base more than anyone (except kurogiri)
You’re definitely in the top 3 favorites
She likes to do skincare routines with Toga, Twice, and you
Definitely paints her nails and asks you how it looks first
She’s totally onboard with you sitting in her lap, but it’s just for hugs, don’t get it mixed up
She’s probably one of the touchiest people out of the league
^ Not nearly as much as Shig, but she’s probably third
Toga
You’re a sibling too, 100%
She asks you to sharpen and clean her knives daily, but she always repays the favor by helping you cook or by cleaning 2-3 rooms
She’s given you one of her favorite knives to keep for your birthday, or just any special event of yours
She always asks you to put her hair up for her, and if your hair is long enough, she asks if she can do your hair
She’s really picky about anything she gets you, and she always pays attention to the smallest details in everything she gives you
She’s given you quite a lot of jewelry she stole from corpses, whether you wear it or not
^ You can sell it too, and she’s fine with it, just tell her thank you first though
She always wants to watch you cook and she’s even tried to make your favorite food once or twice with Kurogiri and Magne
She asks you to paint her nails for her, even if you’re not good at it, since one hand always turns out better than the other
Face masks and cleansers are a must, she prefers if you do more skincare stuff with her, but that’s the bare minimum
Definitely has a picture of you, Magne, her, and Twice as the wallpaper on her phone
She’s somewhat touchy, she’s all for hugs and maybe hand holding every once in a while
^ That’s it though
Twice
He likes to smoke with you (if you do)
^ If you don’t, he still likes to talk to you when he does
He’s really interested in your hobbies and what you like to do
He’s comfortable with taking off his mask fully when it’s just you two and no one else
He thinks your laugh is cute in the same way a puppy’s cute
He likes being cared for by you, and you’re always going to be in his top 3
His all-time favorite thing about you is just the simple fact that you accept him for who he is, flaws and all
He comes to you for head pats at least four times a day, and he likes holding your hand because it makes him feel safe and secure
He loves how gentle you are with him, and how you try your best to understand him
^ He does feel extremely bad when he involuntarily insults you
^ Tell him you know he didn’t mean it and that you still like him please
He loves cuddles, but only when he’s tired
^ It’s usually just him laying his head on your shoulder though
Again, having you around in general makes him feel safe
So after a long day of fighting heroes, he just wants to sit with you until he falls asleep
Compress
He basically the only other person besides Kurogiri that doesn’t have the mindset of a 15 year old or younger
It’s nice that he’s got someone other than Kurogiri to talk to now
He offers to help with chores the most
Likes to entertain you with magic tricks, and he always shows you his newest tricks first
^ Please tell him he did a good job and that it was convincing
He knows a good deal about you, like your favorite food and your favorite spot in the city
Sometimes he goes on walks with you when the tension after a mission dies down
He takes you out for food once or twice a week, and for a snack run every other week
^ He always gets a lot of stuff though, so it’s ok
He’s always the first to notice anything about you, like a new haircut or a new shirt
^ He’s always the first to compliment you on it too
On a scale of 1-10, he’s probably a 3 as far as being touchy goes
He appreciates praise and maybe pats on the back, but he doesn’t really care much about themselves
He doesn’t really actively seek your attention like Shigaraki does, but he doesn’t complain when he gets it

Altered Carbon- Out of the Past (1.01)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Nova Griffiths (OC) x Takeshi Kovacs
Summary: When Nova is contracted for a new job, she's introduced to a part of humanity's past. The job seems to be a bust, but it becomes clear that it's anything but.
Warnings: mentions of suicide!, cursing, guns, rebirthing(?), sword+knives, blood, mentions of shitty parents
Word Count: 6441
“Just…” I sighed, looking out through the droplets of rain on the windows of the bus stop, “I just want you to be safe, E.J.”
“I know. I will be, Nov. I promise.”
“Alright, good. Look, bug, I’ve gotta run.”
“New job?”
I snorted, looking at his grin on the holographic screen. “Possible new target, yeah.”
He nodded. “Promise you’ll be safe too?”
I nodded right back, a smile on my face. “Promise, E.J. Love you, bud. Talk to you later, yeah?”
Another nod. “Go.”
I sighed as I checked the time.
Shit.
I was going to be late if I didn’t haul ass. I flicked the display of the watch away and pulled my helmet on. I straddled my bike and kicked the stand up. Hopefully, this payout would be worth it.
***
“Justice! Let the dead speak! Justice! Let the dead speak!”
The chant became static as I pushed my way through the crowd, and up the steps of Alcatraz prison. Lieutenant Ortega from the local police department had reached out and told me she would give me a ride up to the Bancroft residence.
“Griffiths!”
I popped onto my toes and saw the lieutenant waving me down. A blond man stood next to her, his face angry, but eyes seeming disoriented.
“Ortega, hey.” I held a hand out for her and she gave me a firm shake. “I’ve been trying to find you for the last twenty minutes.”
“These people are something else. Nova Griffiths, you’ll be working with this gentleman here.”
“Nice to meet you.” I stuck my hand out, and he did the same.
“You shouldn’t have come back!” A man shouted over my shoulder, cutting my new partner off before he could start his sentence.
The crowd’s chant changed, “No resleeving!”
“Well shit, let’s get outta here.” I gave Ortega a grimace, letting his hand drop.
We began to push our way back through, dodging the picket signs and the face painted protestors. A man with white and black markings on his face took a step towards us and pushed me out of the way. I stumbled backwards, and my partner reached out, preventing me from falling off my feet.
“You will not be forgiven!” The protester spat in his face.
I used the existing grip on my arm to pull myself back in front of him. I spat in the protester’s face and shook my partner’s grip loose.
“Well, that’s gonna keep him busy a while.” My partner guided me to walk in front of him as we continued to push through the crowd.
***
“Spirit savers and Afterlifers. 653 failed, and still they can’t stop yelling.” Ortega spoke.
“What is 653?” He asked, looking up from the paper.
“Something about spinning up murder victims to testify who killed them.” I kept my eyes on my feet, feeling nauseous.
“Why wouldn’t you spin them up if they’re witnesses to their own murder?”
“Archdiocese says you only get the sleeve you’re born with. Once it dies, they spin you back up for anything, even to identify your killer, your soul goes to hell.” Ortega looked in the rearview mirror. “What do you think?”
“I think no one in the archdiocese has ever been murdered.” He looked out the window, and then to me. “Nova?”
I snorted, finally looking up. “I think they’re all full of shit.”
He fell quiet as he observed the city. I studied his silhouette as he stared. The sleeve was handsome. Strong features, a strong jawline, a deep voice. Light colored eyes and swept-over hair.
“So what were you in for?” I asked, trying to get a sense of why he was so silent.
“Ah, little bit of this, little bit of that. Blew some shit up and killed some people.” He caught a look from Ortega in the rearview. “Some people just need killing.” He grinned.
I felt a grin rise on my own face, but Ortega didn’t seem to share the amusement.
“And how do you decide who deserves to die?”
My partner shook his head with a small sigh. “Depends on the day. I mean, anything can set me off. Interstellar dictatorship, genocide, people who talk to much.” He looked over at her for the last part before letting out another sigh.
I giggled, and Ortega shot me a look.
“Right now I’m feeling pretty hostile towards Laurens Bancroft, whoever the fuck he is.” He pulled something from his pants pocket.
“Oh, come on. Everyone knows Bancroft, he’s one of the first founding Meths.”
“What’s a Meth?”
“You don’t know what a Meth is? How can you not know?” Ortega chuckled. “You're dressed like one.”
“Like I said, I’m not from around here.” His demeanor changed.
I eyed him. He was fidgeting with his hands. Ortega went on, reciting something from the beliefs of the Meths. I decided to unbuckle myself and slide into the middle seat. He took notice and looked down at me, eyebrows furrowed.
“How long have you been under?”
He looked away, sighing again.
“How long, man?” I whispered again.
“Two hundred fifty years.” He didn’t look my way again.
“Shit.”
We busted through the clouds, and I slid forward, still unbuckled. He caught me by the hood of my jacket before grabbing my upper arm, pulling me back into my seat. I swallowed my pride and buckled back up.
“They call it the Aerium.”
He leaned forward, eyes wide.
“Guess they don’t have this where you come from either, huh?” Ortega gave a teasing smile.
She guided the car to hover over the property as we sat in silence. He readjusted himself back in his seat, and Ortega seized the silence once more.
“So, where were you born? Home planet, that kinda thing.”
“Not here.” He was dead-pan.
“That’s a little vague.” Ortega chuckled.
“You ask a lot of questions.”
“That’s my abuela. She always said, Kristin, you can find a way to talk to anybody.”
“Especially when they’re trapped in a car with you.” He shot back.
She looked forward with a sigh, and I stifled another giggle.
“Our quick and messy little lives are so small to them. They build their homes up here so the clutter of our existence is out of their sight.”
We only shared a look in the backseat.
***
The landing of the hover-car was rough, accompanied by various quick remarks.
“Come on, last chance. Just give me a name.”
“Takeshi Kovacs.” He got out of the car and straightened out his clothes. “Look me up.”
Ortega immediately did so while I scrambled out of the car after him.
“Holy shit. Is that why…”
Kovacs glanced at me over his shoulder. “Yep.”
“You can’t be who you say you are. All the Envoys died.” Ortega tried to catch up with us as she shouted.
“All except one.” Kovacs caught me by the arm, pulling me to stand behind him.
I peered around his frame, only to see Bancroft’s multiple goons with their guns pointed toward us.
“Not another step, Ortega.”
“Aw come on. I’m Bay City PD and you know it, Curtis.” Ortega continued to walk toward them. “So lower your weapons and tell me where your boss is, because I really would like a fucking word.”
“Lieutenant Ortega, you’re trespassing on private property. Apparently, you’ve stolen one of our limos as well. I could have you shot.”
Ortega snorted. “Yeah, go ahead. Try.”
A police vehicle landed to our left, and Kovacs covered me a bit more with his own body.
“Why did you drive the Envoy? Isaac was supposed to do that.”
The police car door opened, and a man in a suit dragged a boy out.
“Look, I’m not drunk, okay? I was just loosening up a little. Let go of me.”
“We picked him up on a DUI.” The man explained to Mrs. Bancroft.
“Which is how we came into possession of your vehicle.” Ortega explained.
Mrs. Bancroft whispered something back and forth to, presumably, her son. She turned back to face us. “This is police harassment.”
“Yeah.” Ortega scoffed again. “There’s your kid, there’s your car, here’s your mercenary, and there’s your… new pet terrorist.” She gestured towards Kovacs, annoyed. “You’re welcome.”
“Bounty hunter, not a mercenary.” I scowled.
She walked past us, and Kovacs scoffed this time. “The terrorist can hear you. I’m standing right here.”
“Yeah, good. Cause we’re not done, you and me.” Ortega snapped at him before getting into the police car. I inched my way out from behind Kovacs until I was standing next to him.
Mrs. Bancroft chuckled as she walked toward us. “Forgive me. I’m Miriam Bancroft. We’ve not been properly introduced.”
She gave Kovacs a weak handshake, followed by a snake-like smile my way.
“Welcome to Suntouch House.” She turned on her heel, and we followed.
***
“Shouldn’t that be in a museum?” Kovacs asked as we walked under the branches of a large tree.”
“I have a weakness for Elder civilization artifacts. I collect them, among other things.”
“This must’ve cost a fortune to ship here.”
She hummed as Kovacs reached for one of the lower-hanging tendrils.
“A few lifetimes, as well. But cost was no object. This is the only Songspire tree on Earth. No one really knows what they are. They could’ve functioned as part of Elder civilization architecture. The largest ones ever recorded are thousands of meters high.”
The look on Kovacs’ face was one of recognition. “I know. I’ve seen them.”
“Stronghold. Of course.” She nodded. “Laurens is in his study. I’ll show you up.”
As if voice-activated, the elevator doors to her right slid open. Kovacs and I eyed each other before following her into the small room. Something felt off. We stayed silent as the elevator began to ascend. I kept myself tucked in between him and the corner, and Miriam stood opposite of him. She continued to eye him before beginning to play with her necklace. The metallic clicking caught his attention, and he looked up.
“Is it true you can look into a person’s eyes and know exactly what they’re thinking?”
Kovacs hummed. “No, Envoys don’t read minds.”
“What a pity.” She smiled.
Kovacs seemed uncomfortable, and the elevator dinged before anyone could say anything else.
“Good luck, Mr. Kovacs, Ms. Griffiths.”
Kovacs gestured for me to exit first, and he followed close behind. We let out simultaneous sighs as we heard the doors close again. We began to walk down the long hallway, trying to keep pace with each other. The study was silent when we walked into it, and I began to feel sick to my stomach.
“Mr. Kovacs, Ms Griffiths.”
We looked up to see Bancroft on the balcony of his study, drink in hand. “My apologies, my son failed to drive you here. You have to forgive my endlessly misplaced optimism.”
“That’s alright.” Kovacs looked back around the study. “The ride was very instructive.”
“Hmm, yes, I’m sure it was. Details are, after all, an Envoy’s stock-in-trade.” He began to walk down to the level we were on. “Or were, I guess I should say. Immersion and total absorb. Wasn’t that the term, hmm? Whatever answer you may seek, it is precisely where you are not looking.”
“You’ve read Falconer.” Kovacs finally spoke, eyes on me as I kept my own on him.
“I was alive during the uprising, yeah.”
“Yeah?” His eyes didn’t stray from mine. “So was I.”
“Oh, y-yes, my apologies. It’s all in the distant past for me, but for you, of course, it’s all rather different. There are very few of us now, who saw firsthand what the Envoys could do. Ah-ha. Yes. A-And I have to admit that I had a grudging admiration for you. Trained by Quell herself to be the most formidable fighting force that the galaxy had ever seen.”
“Well, that would sound better if we hadn’t lost.” Kovacs quipped.
“Although this might, might interest you.” Bancroft handed Kovacs a small leather-bound booklet. “Oh, it’s all corneal streaming now. There’s something about the simplicity of holding the written word in your hand. The very-very heft of it. As men have done for countless centuries before us.”
Kovacs seemed to leave the current plane of existence as he flipped through the book, fingers gingerly running over the pages. “Where did you get this?”
“I bought it at an auction. Supposedly, it is written by Falconer in her own hand. Judging by your reaction, it appears I might have got what I paid for.”
Kovacs snapped out of it, bundling the book back up and clearing his throat.
“Listen to me. I spent this entire morning being well and truly fucked around with, so, uh, let me be painfully clear. Some things can’t be bought. I’m not sure about Ms. Griffiths here,” he glanced down at me, “but I, for one, cannot. Now, I didn’t ask you to bring me back into this world. In fact, I fought a war to stop people like you from happening.” Kovacs began to step closer to Bancroft. “So, if someone doesn’t tell me right now what the fuck this is all about… I might very well lose my temper.” He smacked the booklet into Bancroft’s chest, and I felt my cheeks begin to grow flush.
“Understood. Now, this is a full pardon, signed by the president of the Protectorate.”
Kovacs only gave a look of disbelief. “Power is a matter of influence, Mr. Kovacs. And I have had a great deal of influence at the UN. If you agree to my terms, your sentence will be reduced to time served. And then I will open up a very generous line of credit in your name. DNA trace accessible. And when the investigation is over, you may keep this sleeve or choose another. To your own specifications.”
Kovacs said nothing, and I hung back. Bancroft turned to me.
“Don’t think I’ve forgotten about you, Ms. Griffiths. Your parents will be pardoned as well.”
My heart immediately felt like it was going to blow a hole through my chest.
“Finally, I will pay you both a salary of 50 million UN credits. That’s a fortune. You can have any future you want.”
Blood kept rushing to my head, and my ears felt red hot. My vision blurred, and my body began to shake. I felt ready to pass out. Bancroft began to speak again, walking away this time. Kovacs gently put a hand on my waist and guided me to follow, sensing the loss of equilibrium within my body.
“All I ask is that you solve a murder.” Bancroft pulled a white sheet off a wall.
“Whose?” Kovacs stopped us both in front of the blood-splattered wall.
“Mine.”
“This is where I died. When Miriam found me, my head had been vaporized.”
Kovacs’ hold on me had grounded me enough for him to let go. He began to pace the room, and I looked over the brains on the wall.
“It’s an energy weapon?” Kovacs asked.
“Yes. A particle blaster. I keep one for personal protection in a biometric safe that only Miriam and I can open.”
Kovacs and I immediately shared a look, and Bancroft caught on. “Go ahead. Say it. Everyone else has. Either I committed suicide, or my wife murdered me.”
“But you’re still here, meaning your stack is intact, so… you must remember what happened.” The light hit Kovacs in a new way, and I noticed the scar on his sleeve’s eyebrow.
“I’m afraid it’s completely destroyed. RD’d, as they say.”
“So how?”
“Full-spectrum DHF remote storage backup?” I asked.
Bancroft nodded and Kovacs looked at me with a scowl on his face.
“Do you know what that is?” Bancroft asked him.
“Yeah. Just never met anyone filthy rich enough to afford it.” Kovacs scoffed.
Bancroft seemed like his pride was hurt, but he shrugged it off. “Well. I need to show you two something.”
He led us up the stairs to where he had been lurking when we arrived. Kovacs and I shared a look as we followed. I had to double my pace to keep up with Kovacs, who was more likely than not over a foot taller than me.
“Sometimes I come up here when I have decisions to make or difficulties to face.” Bancroft began. “I think about the ancient explorers, back when one could spend a lifetime pursuing the possibilities of the Earth, the oceans, the stars.”
My eyes flickered around the maps and old news articles framed up on the walls. Humanity had landed on the moon for the first time over 400 years ago. These artifacts must’ve cost fortunes.
Bancroft sighed. “I was born in London. When I first moved to what was then, of course, known as the United States, it still had the faintest echoes of the new and brash culture that it once was.”
I glanced over at Kovacs, who was tinkering with something on one of the multiple desks. Bancroft said something about the age of adventurers, and I heard the beeping of a screen. I pulled my eyes from Kovacs and followed his line of sight. A telescope spun our way, and Bancroft gestured toward it.
“Take a look. Tell me what you see.”
Kovacs and I shared another look, and he sensed my hesitation. He placed a reassuring hand on the small of my back before taking a step forward, peering through the eyepiece.
“It’s a Protectorate satellite. Military grade.”
Bancroft hummed. “It is military grade, but it’s not the Protectorates. It’s mine.”
Kovacs’ face took on an unreadable expression as he straightened up, making a subtle effort to keep himself between Bancroft and I.
What had I gotten myself into?
“Every forty-eight hours, my stack is automatically needle cast to it.”
“So your current self has no memory of what happened?” I peeped up from behind the six-something, two hundred-something slab of muscle in front of me.
“No, whoever killed me pulled the trigger ten minutes before my backup went through.”
“Which means all of your memories from those forty-eight hours are gone.”
“Completely. There was an attempted hack on my satellite feed moments after my death. Somebody wants me dead.”
Kovacs peeked back at me over his shoulder. This time, I understood the look in his eyes. Who wouldn’t?
Kovacs took a breath before beginning to slowly circle Bancroft. “For all we know, you did try to kill yourself.”
“You just botched the job.” I deadpanned.
“Mr. Kovacs, Ms. Griffiths, I am not the kind of man who would take his own life. And even if I were,” his eyes turned toward me with a menacing glaze over them, “I’d not have bungled it in such a fashion.”
Kovacs noticed and, once more, took a step in front of me.
“If I’d meant to die, I’d indeed be dead.”
Kovacs chuckled. “I don’t want your money. Or your pardon. I’m not sure about Ms. Griffiths here, but I’ll take eternity on ice. Thanks.” He turned on his heel, and I scurried to stay at his side.
If he was out, then so was I. I didn’t trust Bancroft and I sure as shit wasn’t gonna be stuck in this alone.
“You should take the day, Mr. Kovacs. Go into the city, remember what it is to feel alive. And then, give me your answer. O-oh, and please do take the book. Like everything else I’m offering you, it’s yours if you want it.”
Kovacs looked down at me, and I nodded up at him. Without another word, we made our way out of his study and, with the luck of Miriam not being around, out of the house.
***
In the car, Kovacs stared at his hands. He was beyond deep in thought. It seemed like a flashback that he was struggling to fight his way out of. He was adamant in his decision to be put back under. The driver was going to drop me off on main street in Bay City. I was going to see E.J. for the first time in almost a year. Kovacs would, as Bancroft had suggested, take a night in the city. After that, he would return to Alcatraz, and I would never see him again.
“Ms. Griffiths.” The driver caught my attention.
I looked up, seeing that we were pulled over on the main road. I blinked, and looked up at Kovacs.
“Guess this is goodbye?” I grinned.
He chuckled, but his own grin fell and he shook his head. “Don’t get involved with Bancroft again. I’ve been around long enough, and people like him don’t change.”
I nodded, watching his eyes as they deepened while he thought. “I won’t. Don’t worry about me.”
He met my eyes, and his grin returned. “Stay safe, kid. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders, I suggest you keep it.”
I nodded. “I will. Be safe, Kovacs.”
“Takeshi.” He spoke as I opened my door, ready to get out.
“What?” I looked back.
“Call me Takeshi.”
I smiled, knowing I’d never see him again and that it wouldn’t matter what I called him.
“Goodbye, Takeshi.”
“Goodbye, Nova.”
***
I ran through the rain, dodging the group of teenagers doing the same. I shouldered the metal door open and ducked in, out of the weather. The air inside was stale and there were cobwebs in each corner of the lobby. After it had begun to pour, E.J. had called and asked me to meet him here. It looked like the hotel hadn’t been touched in a few years, give or take. More likely give.
“Eli?” I called out, clutching my bag over my shoulder.
“Ms. Griffiths, welcome.”
“Holy shit, it’s still you?” I turned to Poe, the AI that ran the place.
“It’s not like anyone stays here anymore. No need for an upgrade.”
I turned on my heel and saw E.J. sitting at the bar, drink in hand.
“Dude, you are nineteen, put that shit down.” I made my way over to him, stealing the glass of liquor and downing it. “Poe, stop giving my little brother alcohol.”
“He’s a paying customer, Ms. Griffiths.”
I rolled my eyes and held my arms out. E.J. stood from his seat and embraced the hug, rocking me back and forth from side to side. We had stayed at the Ravel Hotel on one occasion, for two months straight. Our parents were off-planet for a racing event, and they had left us with our uncle. He died in a gang-related shootout two days into our parents’ trip. After a week on the streets, we found our way into The Raven. We had gotten in contact with our dad, and he sent the money to Poe.
“How’ve you been?”
I sighed as he finally let go of me. “It’s been kind of crazy.” I sat down next to him.
“Tell me about it?”
I took a deep breath. “Hey, Poe?”
“Yes, Ms. Griffiths?”
“Nova.” I corrected him. “You’ve known me since I was 12, you can call me by my first name. Can I get a-”
“White Russian, White Russian!” E.J. shouted.
“Eli, stop.” I giggled before looking back at Poe. “Fine. Two White Russians please.” I grinned.
I held my finger to the pay-spot on the bar, pulling it away once it clicked. Poe shuffled our drinks out, and I handed one off to E.J. The door opened, and Poe fluttered over to the front desk. E.J. and I didn’t bother looking over. Probably just some sick freak who needed to get his rocks off. He grinned and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. I rolled my eyes as he held the pack out to me.
“You can’t say shit, I’m 19.”
“Stop being cocky.” I pulled one between my lips and held it up to the lighter he held in his hands.
“Never.” He grinned again as he took a drag of his own cigarette. “So. Who’s the target?”
I scowled. “It fell through.”
“What?” He raised an eyebrow. “You? Lose a target? What happened?”
I rolled my eyes and leaned in. “You know Bancroft?”
E.J. snorted, blowing his cigarette smoke in the other direction. “The fucker who thinks he’s god?”
I nodded. “Yeah. Made this whole big deal about how his last sleeve got his brains blown out but his stack stayed intact.”
“Sounds like he just fucked the job up.”
I grinned. “Exactly what I said. So we split.”
“We?” He repeated, again raising an eyebrow. “Since when do you play well with others?”
“Shut up.” I shoved his shoulder. “It was gonna be a special case. Turns out god is just a fucking moron.”
The door opened again, and this time we looked up. There was no way that many people were just coincidentally here. I immediately rose and pulled E.J. along with me as four men and one woman, all with guns, barged in. I looked toward their intended target.
Takeshi?
“He won’t be needing a room. So much for Envoy Intuition. Voodoo bullshit.”
“Envoy?” E.J. hissed at me as I pulled him to duck behind the bar.
“Just shut up. Do you have anything on you?”
“What?”
“Weapons, Eli.” I hissed back.
He patted himself down, and I pulled my blade from my bag and flicked it open. It was the only good thing my father had left me with. A dagger that transformed into a sword with the flick of a wrist. Eli twisted a silencer onto his gun and matched my position.
“Pardon me, wayfarer, we’re in the midst of conversation.” I heard Poe.
“Shut up, you piece of digibrain shit. My microwave is smarter than you.” The man with his gun on Takeshi’s neck snarled.
“I just want one thing to go right today.” I heard Takeshi’s gruff voice.
“Clearly.” Poe sighed.
“Too bad.”
I began to creep up from my toes, onto my knees. Takeshi turned to face the first man, holding his hands behind his back.
“They said you’d be dangerous. I thought you’d be bigger. They made me bring all this backup. What a waste of my time. I don’t need them.”
By now, I was on my haunches, peering up over the counter of the bar. Poe made eye contact with me and gave the slightest shake of his head. Although he was just a bundle of code, Poe had become more human than some people. He cared about E.J. and I, in his own strange, AI way.
“Fuck you, Dimi.” One of the men hissed, only to earn a bullet to the head.
Dimi? I had to take this fucker down for sure. I’d never have to work another day in my life.
“I have to clean that up.” Poe sighed.
“What?” Dimi growled.
“Uh, he had it coming.” Takeshi nodded. “He was rude.”
E.J. had made his way up next to me, gun held tightly. Poe shook his head at us once more.
“I could take you myself without even breaking a sweat.” Dimi got in Takeshi’s face. “Move.”
He shoved Takeshi to the middle of the group, which meant that they all now had their backs to us. Takeshi caught my eye over the counter, and his eyes widened. I gave him a cocky grin, and E.J. looked between the two of us, confused.
“Good sir, I cannot assume host prerogatives without payment.” Poe urged Takeshi.
“You want to get him a hot towel?” Dimi taunted. “You’re some kind of moron, staying in an AI hotel. Possessive like a crazy girlfriend. No one stays in them anymore.”
“Really? I hadn’t heard that.”
Dimi hit the top of Takeshi’s spine with his gun, and the Envoy crashed to the ground with a grunt. I made my choice. I tapped Eli’s gun and pointed my sword toward the woman, who was the closest to us.
“For guest amenities, please, touch the screen.”
Dimi hit Takeshi in the face this time, sending him sprawled onto his back. Eli and I stood slowly, boots silent against the wooden floor. He was taller, and by now, far stronger. We nodded at each other, and he clapped a hand over her mouth. I knocked her gun out of her hand with my sword, catching it in my hand before it could clatter to the floor. The others were too distracted with beating Takeshi up to notice.
Poe’s cold eyes flickered between Takeshi getting his shit rocked and us. The woman struggled, and I made another quick decision. I cut her throat, and Takeshi began to speak at the same time, covering the gurgling sound. E.J. grabbed her now limp sleeve and dragged her to the side.
“It’s not voodoo, which, by the way, absolutely is bullshit. It’s a form of subliminal pattern recognition.” Takeshi began to explain, keeping his eyes ahead as he crawled back toward Poe.
“What the fuck does that mean?” Dimi grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him up, putting his gun to Takeshi’s face.
As Dimi continued to threaten Takeshi’s sleeve, if not his stack, E.J. and I continued our quiet routine. Another man down, another sleeve thrown aside.
“You know, it’s about the details.”
Another hit, Takeshi landing back onto the coffee table. I flinched, surprised it hadn’t broken under his weight.
“Where’s the big bad boy Envoy killer from the past?” Dimi shouted.
“Twenty seconds.” Poe reminded him.
I grimaced. I couldn’t make my way to the front desk and do it for him without being noticed.
“Fight, goddamn it! What, you lost your balls? Did something change while you were down?”
Takeshi got back to his feet, staging himself between the back desk and Dimi. “Nothing changed.”
Two kicks to the stomach. I had enough. I looked at Eli and gave him a nod.
“People like you are still stupid.” Takeshi ended up at the front desk, finger in the right place.
E.J. took his first shot, and Dimi turned at the small noise. I thrusted my sword through another man’s chest. Poe lowered the machine guns from the ceiling, and I dropped to the ground, ducking behind a column to keep myself safe. I watched as E.J. did the same. Poe cocked a shotgun and began to shoot people down, and Takeshi began to pummel Dimi.
One of Dimi’s people tried to back behind a column, having the same idea we had. I counted the rounds that Poe’s machine guns fired, finding the right timing. I ran from the safety of my cover and plunged my sword into the man’s chest, dropping his sleeve down into the open fire. The men dropped like flies, and I kept my eyes on Takeshi. He round-house kicked Dimi in the stomach, and I swallowed hard. It was rather difficult to deny just how attracted to him I was becoming.
“Nova!”
I turned toward E.J.’s voice, only to see a man much bigger than me coming my way, a knife in his hand. I struggled to scramble to my feet, slipping in the blood of the sleeves I had killed. I fell flat onto my back and held my sword up, hoping I had enough coordination to shield myself from his knife.
There was the sound of Poe’s shotgun, and the men fell down on top of me. I groaned as I felt his knife slice through the skin of my thigh. The only person left was Dimi. Takeshi had him cornered against a sofa, fist raised.
“Who sent you?”
Dimi laughed, and I coughed, spitting blood aside as E.J. came running, pulling the sleeve off of me. I felt my consciousness begin to slip away, and I struggled to stay awake. E.J. pulled me up to sit, letting my back rest against a column. I watched from behind heavy eyelids as Takeshi put Dimi in a chokehold.
“Who sent you?”
He squirmed his way free, putting himself in the direct way of the machine guns. Takeshi urged Poe to hold back, but Poe didn’t listen. Dimi went down, and Takeshi sighed heavily.
“Ask this of your microwave, miscreant.”
Poe became quiet once he sensed that he had done something Takeshi didn’t like. “Apologies. Your room beckons.”
“Bite this.” E.J. shoved his leather belt between my teeth and didn’t give me time to react before pulling the knife from my leg.
I couldn’t help the scream that tore through my throat. Takeshi’s eyes went wide and he scrambled to our sides, hand immediately coming to my shoulder. He ripped a sleeve off and immediately began to tie it around my wound, flinching when I did.
“Nova, what happened? Are you okay?”
I coughed, and blood speckled onto his white button-up. E.J. brushed my hair out of my face and I winced.
“Sorry, Takeshi.”
He shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Fucker nailed me when he dropped.” I pushed out, feeling light-headed once more.
“I can stitch her up.” E.J. grabbed my hand, squeezing it to try and keep me awake.
“No.” I hissed.
E.J. knew what he was doing, but it always hurt like a bitch. Takeshi looked me over and sighed, pulling me off the column so that he could hoist me into his arms.
“I’ll help you hold her down.” He adjusted me bridal-style and stood.
“God, fuck you both.” My voice was scratchy, and the lights began to look spotty.
“Just rest, Nov. We’ve got you.” Eli whispered, and I let the darkness consume me as my sleeve went heavy in Takeshi’s arms.
***
“What happened to a meal, getting laid, and restacking forever?”
I looked up from my plate to see Ortega walking over to us, hands on her hips. Takeshi took a drag of his cigarette before looking her way.
“I got interrupted.” He downed a shot.
“Who the fuck are these guys?”
“I don’t know.” Takeshi shrugged. “But they knew me.”
“Di-”
“They called you by name? Are you sure?” Ortega cut me off and I sighed, going back to pushing around the pasta on my plate.
“Eat.” Eli urged me.
I sighed again. “I really don’t want to.”
“Kristin!” The man Takeshi and I had seen drop off Bancroft’s son was there, working on the scene. “Four of them are just local muscle, but this sleeve is registered to Dimitri Kadmin. Ulan Bator registry.” He showed Ortega the tablet in his hands.
Ortega punched his arm, excited. “We got him.”
“Got who?” Takeshi looked over at me.
“Dimitri Kadmin, hitman out of Vladivostok.” I cut Ortega off this time. “Otherwise known as Dimi the Twin. Does a lot of work for the yakuza. Bastard doesn’t trust anyone, so he double-sleeves.”
“Isn’t the penalty real death?” E.J. asked.
Ortega’s partner nodded. “We hold onto his stack, and sooner or later we catch the other version of him out there, and then he’s done.”
Ortega let out a string of curses, and her partner looked her way. “What, what’s going on?”
“Stack is fragged. Not enough left to spin him up to interrogate. Fuck.”
“You couldn’t just disable them?” Ortega hissed at Poe.
“I was coming to the defense of my first guest in about a decade.” Poe took a shot of his own.
“With enough firepower to bring down an airplane.” Ortega spat back.
“Hey, Poe is fully licensed for customer protection. You know that. Not to mention, I got fucking knived.”
“You’ve shot people for less.” Her partner reminded her, and she brushed him off.
“So, Dimitri’s a high-end hitman?” Takeshi spoke up.
“Yeah, top of the line.” Ortega scowled.
“Then Bancroft’s death wasn’t a suicide.”
“Of course. Because who would wanna kill an asshole like you?” Ortega’s partner scoffed.
“Plenty of people. A few centuries ago.” Takeshi lit another cigarette.
Resleeved in the body of a hard-core nicotine addict was how he had put it.
“Kovacs doesn’t merit this kind of hit unless they wanna stop him from looking into Bancroft’s death.” I put together what Takeshi himself had been getting at.
“Instead of blaming us, how about you apply your impressive policing skills.” Takeshi scoffed at them.
“Less than eight hours out of the tank, and you’re already up to your eyes in organic damage and real death.”
Takeshi grabbed his unicorn backpack, which I had learned an hour ago was full of illegal street drugs, kissed the top of it, and slung it over his shoulder. He held his hand out for me, and I looked between him and E.J. My little brother nodded at me, and I took Takeshi’s hand, letting him help me off the stool.
“I could find a way to arrest you two for this.” Ortega threatened.
“Yeah?” Takeshi taunted as he led us past them. “You make up your mind, we’ll be upstairs.” He helped me stay steady as we wove through the sleeves strung on the floor.
Ortega tried to come after us, and her partner grabbed her, pulling her back and telling us to leave it. My foot slipped over a piece of glass, and I winced, grip on Takeshi’s hand tightening.
“Here.” He held my hand with one of his and grabbed my waist with the other, letting my weight rest against his side.
I felt like I was going to faint as his muscles moved under his shirt, rubbing against my own body. He hit the button to our floor and closed his eyes. I felt his body relax, but his grip on my waist stayed firm.
“Takeshi?” I whispered, looking up.
He met my gaze.
“I need to take the case. These people know who I am. I can't put my brother at risk like that.”
He only nodded and looked forward once more. His eyes fluttered shut, and he seemed to be absorbed into another flashback, like he had been in the car after we met Bancroft. It seemed to entrap him even as he led me to my room. He was fighting hard, his fingers beginning to bunch up the material of my shirt. I said nothing, returning the reassuring hand on his back. He helped me get to my bed, and, without a word, tears forming in his hazel-green eyes, turned and walked out of the room.
I laid on my back and sighed. This man was torn apart beyond belief, but he was a force to be reckoned with. This would be, by far, the most intense job I had ever and would ever work.
