Geraskier Fic Rec May 2023

Hello lovely people! I've decided to start my fic rec lists with some Witcher fic focusing on Geralt/Jaskier (Geraskier). I started reading Geraskier fic about three years ago and I'll probably never get tired of this pairing. The below list are some of my favorite fics I've stumbled upon throughout my time in the fandom - I hope you enjoy them! If there are any you think should be added (or you just have good recs) please feel free to send them my way, I'm always looking for new fic! And if you decide to read any of these, please heed the tags on ao3; some deal with topics not everyone wants to read about.

The descent is fast, maybe even reckless, but Jaskier’s feeling numb and out-of-sorts anyways, Geralt’s words simmering in his mind, and at the time it doesn’t feel like he’s being pulled on by anything but his own desire to get away."

Based off a post that Geralt's words on the mountain are granted by the djinn.

Geralt returns to Oxenfurt on a bright May morning to find flowers laid outside Jaskier's rooms and a fresh grave in the cemetery.

Except, as Geralt is about to learn, in Jaskier's world things are never quite what they seem.

Jaskier had never expected it would be Geralt trying to kill him. Sure, the witcher liked to threaten as much, but they both knew he'd never make good on it. They were friends, whatever Geralt said.

But friends didn't try to rip each other's throats out with their teeth.

Or, Geralt returns from a hunt acting strange.

Geralt's brother has died, and now he is raising a child on his own. The last thing he needs is an annoying sous-chef who won't leave him alone.

“Not in the slightest,” Jaskier says cheerfully. “But I must admit it sounds like something I’d do.”

When Jaskier forgets their life together, Geralt learns an unexpected lesson.

So, in the wake of the 60th special an the bi-regeneration of 14 into 15, I remembered an old fic of mine from 2018, where I wrote about some similar developments.

While 14 now retires (still a time lord I presume) in the canon, in my fic all the old incarnations become human beings without knowing they were once a time lord. They are sort of destined to spend their human lives with the person they loved most during their time as Doctor.

So we have 12 (which my fic centres around), now human, and without memory of Clara. The 15th Doctor stepping in, to make things right again.

Obviously my 15th Doctor is not Nuct. I based my incarnation on Arsher Ali, who played Bennett in Under the Lake/Before the Flood.

Anyway, the ideas are similar and just wanted to post about it.

❥ my review:

this is the first fic that i ever sat in my bed reading and sobbing in the early hours of the morning. it was also my first mxm fic, and it is the blueprint for my desire to write yearning the way that i do. i think it is safe to say this fic has inspired me so much.

from how real the characters feel, to living inside Yoongi's overthinking little head...ugh. i visit this fic from time to time when i need to feel my feelings. and even tho i know what is coming, i always tear up.

my only regret is that this fic has been orphaned, so i cannot pour my heart and soul out to the author. i think about this fic often and i would love to tell them how much they have inspired me. i hope that wherever they are, they are having a good life.

Okay so about Komi-san Shen Jiu, someone actually has already produced a fic based on that premise! It’s called “the scholarly lord of qing jing can't communicate!” by svngrde on ao3. It’s only one chapter for now but so far we have Binghe being the favorite disciple and only he and Yue Qingyuan know about Shen Jiu’s communication disorder for now. When I saw those prompts come across your blog I just can’t resist having even more people knowing about a shy and anxious Shen Jiu.

❥ my review:

boy, oh boy, i love this story.

the pining is so, so good. and i adore the way everyone is depicted, especially Taehyung and Jungkook. i love watching them fumble through feelings and miscommunications. and the build to the ending is so, so heart-wrenchingly good.

this is such a sweet, sad coming of age found family story, but with some of the best smut i have ever read. this was the first time i ever read a frotting scene and it changed my life for the better.

some friends have recommended more works from this author, and i intend to read them one day. i really like author's writing style a lot.

full disclosure: this fic has an unhappy ending that looms over the reader's head the entire time. but there is a part 2 with a happy ending. tbh, i prefer the story ends where this fic ends, but everyone else i talk to is happy with the resolution at the end of the second fic, so if you plan to read this one, also make room for part 2!
