After the timestream, the tension between Tim and three of his brothers (Dick, Jason, and Damian) is a bit high. He's been polite and cordial with them, but there's this emotional distance that wasn't there before. When he was mad or upset with them, he'd actually show it. Now, it's like talking to an underpaid customer service representative.

In one of the sitting rooms, Dick is lamenting to Jason and Damian about Tim's distance. The two of them aren't that interested in Dick's woes as he prattles on and on. Yes, they no longer hate Tim, nor do they try to kill or maim him. They also just don't like him at this point. Going from antagonistic to grudging indifference was already a huge step. It's not like they've really conversed with Tim either. There's absolutely nothing to build a relationship on besides their not so great history. They don't really care to get to know him either.

So the two are listening to Dick vent about his relationship with Tim when something the eldest says sparks a slight incredulous irritation in them. Dick acknowledges that Tim probably felt hurt by the older's actions. Therefore, Dick concludes that it's obvious that Duke is Tim's favorite brother.

Now, listen. Both Jason and Damian like Duke. He's funny, kind, and somehow still has Bruce convinced the kid isn't the chaos gremlin he absolutely is. There's bets on how long it will take for Bruce to notice some of his headaches are coming from Duke (it's like the man doesn't remember Duke's origins). Neither Jason nor Damian have any issues with the kid.

However, Duke has been a family member for a few months at best. They're still getting to know each other. Both Damian and Jason have been brothers with Tim for years. There's absolutely no way this newbie wins best brother.

The two are not happy with the revelation, but Dick keeps talking. He, as if to himself, wonders aloud who Tim prefers more between Jason and Damian.

The two turn to look wearily at each other.

The final nail is the coffin is Dick giving up on finding out because neither of them are good at talking to Tim anyways. What's the point on speculating?

This cues weeks of the two competing with each other and, unbeknownst to him, with Duke to be the better brother. That's not what they're calling the competition, but they won't lose.

Duke is confused why every time he hangs out with Tim he gets glares from both Jason and Damian. Fearing that the two might be returning to their fatricidial ways, Duke sticks around Tim even more. Tim, clueless to Duke's reasoning, is happy that someone wants to spend time with him and chat about Tim's gadget upgrades.

Jason and Damian become even more aggressively affectionate after this.

Tim, confused as hell why the two brothers that hate him are suddenly hanging around him more, starts implementing his previous routines. He starts scanning all his food, checks his room for traps, ensures his equipment isn't tampered, and tries to avoid the Manor. The fact that his checks aren't revealing anything freak him out even more.

He doesn't know what their end game is, but there's no reason Damian is asking Tim about his photography techniques and Jason is handing Tim home-cooked goods.

Dick, the master emotional manipulator of the family, uses the chaos to mend his relationship with Tim. He also pats himself on the back for tricking Jason and Damian into putting the work in for finding common grounds with their estranged brother.

How much of a terrible mom was Cordelia? A full explanation.

It's a shame that the first post of my blog is dedicated to a rather ''interesting'' take @yuikomorii showed me, but taking into account that I've done my research involving the mothers, I find it a perfect opportunity to make a full explanation of Cordelia's abusive behavior.

Before I start, I would like to talk about why Cordelia acted the way she did (I AM NOT JUSTIFYING HER ACTIONS).

We know that Cordelia's father was neglectful towards her after the death of her mother which made her lack the ability to understand love.

Karlheinz manipulated Cordelia into marrying him and giving him children FORCEFULLY (because Cordelia did not want to have children). He also convinced Cordelia that it was okay for her to have many lovers and to have sexual relationships with FAMILY members

Cordelia's abusive behavior towards the triplets also comes over the fact of her jealousy and obsession with Karlheinz and surpassing Beatrix and Christa.

Getting this out of the way I will now start explaining why Cordelia was NOT a good mother despite her traumas.

It's not strange to view Cordelia negatively if she's one of the antagonists of the franchise. NEVER did Diabolik lovers ever paint Cordelia as a good person and constantly tell us about how shitty she was towards her children and how much it affected them.

2. I'm not denying the fact that around those times parenting was more strict, however, you're forgetting that Cordelia didn't just slap, ground, or yell at her children, she put intense waves of pressure on Ayato, and drowned him, she sexually abused Laito, manipulated him and groomed him when he was a KID, forced Kanato to sing until he bled and made him watch her have intercourse with other men. This was the abuse the triplets went through until they finally had enough and attempted to kill Cordelia, which they succeeded.

3. Yes, it's true that Beatrix wouldn't give the triplets much attention or love, she would probably neglect them due to not being her biological children and belonging to her rival, however, Beatrix WOULD NEVER do the messed up stuff Cordelia did. Yes, she was a terrible mother to Shu and Reiji, yet she would've never stepped down at Cordelia's level.

4. A normal mother doesn't drown and threaten her child due to personal issues, A normal mother doesn't sexually abuse her child and grooms him to make him depend on her, and a normal mother doesn't force her child to watch her have sex with men and doesn't use his singing voice to get horny. If she was an affectionate mother ayato wouldn't have found the need to HIDE himself from her and the triplets wouldn't have considered killing her.

5. I would also like to add, that no matter how badly influenced Cordelia was, and no matter how much childhood trauma she went through, that would never be a justification for the way she treated her children. This does not only apply to Cordelia, this applies to every character and to real people as well. It's a reason why they behave that way, but never a justification. Also, Cordelia doing the bare minimum and behaving like an actual mother for a few moments does not mean she cares about her children. I don't think this is explicitly told, but I believe in those particular scenes she's grooming Kanato to become dependent on her like she did with Laito and Ayato.

6. ''She never spoke that way to her children'' I'm sorry but I have to laugh?? I would've understood if you were an anime only (not really) but taking into account that you do know about the games this is really really wrong lol. I don't why it's difficult to understand that Cordelia didn't love her children. Cordelia is such a bad mother that when she was resurrected in Ayato's DF route, she didn't even apologize to him or to his siblings, and yet he still forgave her! She even told Ayato to APOLOGIZE to her and continued to insult him

I understand (I think everyone in the fandom does) that Cordelia had her reasons to behave this way (childhood trauma and manipulation) but that doesn't excuse her actions. I don't agree with people hating on Cordelia and loving Karlheinz but I also don't agree with people defending Cordelia and saying she did nothing wrong when she did.

Cordelia isn't a black-and-white character and she's not a bad character either, she's very well-written for her purpose (an antagonist) but she's not a good person or mother. She never regretted what she did and if she was still alive during HDB she would've still been abusive to the triplets.

This is my problem with morally grey characters/Evil characters. They can't exist in media if people ignore their wrongdoings and actions and try to justify said actions. I'm not saying that they shouldn't exist but I'm tired of people painting them as good people or justifying their actions when their whole purpose as a character is to show that they're not good people and their actions are/were wrong.

To finish off the post I would like to say that I love Cordelia's character and I consider her to be one of the best-written characters in Diabolik Lovers. In my opinion, I would've liked to know more about her in further games but even if I feel this way about her I don't justify her actions and that's something we should all do. I'm glad the fandom no longer justifies the actions of the characters (with some obvious exceptions). And even if I like Cordelia as a character I don't shame others for not liking her, at the end of the day she was a horrible person lol.

Long-PSA-short of sorts that's more a vent: I was always aware my behavior and way of expressing myself online can surprise many people, especially if they are not used to someone who uses the writing medium as a playful form to tell emotions in a very descriptive way as I do. I'm quite affectionate with words, yes. And I always beg people I hang with personally to let me know if some of that bothers them, curtly of course. So far there have been few instances of individuals confusing those signals with ulterior means, things I assure you there's nothing more than me being friendly and supportive.

Until the past week, I found myself being tackled by something that made me almost knock everything aside because it made me realize that probably I'm a walking trigger/squick inducer with even the way I wield words like "love" and "friendship".

Almost...

I'm pretty tolerant of whatever way people conduct themselves in this life, the only moment I flinch is when an individual assumes from my default behavior and presentation that I want to impose my way of life... And nopes.

This is simply how and who I am. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't search for conflict but for understanding. My language for expressing marvel and reflections is like this, never to make the other feel awkward or attacked.

So, it upset me knowing that by wielding this forever welcoming and lovable disposition, I can be something to fear and even despite... to some people.

But, you know? That means that my "love" and "friendship" lifestyle are not made for you, no reason to come back to me and point at it. Just keep walking if you have only rage and rejection to give as a reply to my point of view. Because by wielding rage and rejection, what you only do is burn bridges. To create conflict and assume imaginary antagonistic scenarios where there's nothing of that at all.

You can't create the world you wish to live in by burning bridges.

It took me a lot too to forge who I am right now. I even keep learning and chiseling through traumas and mistakes—kindness and patience taught me more than rage and rejection. And "love" and "friendship" are the bricks I chose to build those bridges. I know everyone else uses different concepts but in the end, we all build bridges. By creating bridges and inviting others to do the same, I expand not only my world, but the other's too!

Isn't that better than demanding to be this or that through a black/white flag of rage and rejection? I think so. And I understand perfectly we sometimes need to be blunt when marking our boundaries. Still, never justifies treating the other bad.

And if some of you find "fake" or distasteful the way I wear this flag of "love" and "friendship" I'm sorry: this place will never be safe for you then. The exit door is always open. Go ahead.

I hope you find your place and flags out there too, but don't forget that to do that you need to build bridges. If you don't want to call it "friendship" call it "glue" or whatever makes you comfortable, but don't kick people like me who fought with claws and teeth to reclaim those words and feelings.

Fight your fight by being a good example, not a bad experience that makes someone never want to deal with something like this again in their life.

this is my favorite character of all time in any media, right up there with Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars, Nicholas & Nathaniel Benedict from TMBS (showverse) and Lancelot from bbc Merlin. Actually probably slightly above all those characters which is SAYING SOMETHING.

Is he comic relief? Yes.

Would I be his friend? Yes.

Has he done nothing wrong? Yes!! No he’s done many things wrong he’s so precious to me ok but the law he’s broken the law I love him so much he literally betrayed his friends I will always love him he has sooo much to answer for I’m glad Sophie forgives him after she chews him out she should chew him out longer but I suppose Fitz does that for her He has so many apologies to make but like he’s also done nothing wrong look I’m aware of my blorbo’s mistakes he’s honestly not as problematic as the tumblr fandom makes him out to be sometimes, and I MEAN that, but he’s also not as perfect and sweet as the eleven year olds on Wattpad make him out to be. Did canon do him dirty? I debated filling in this one. Because Shannon has made him a SUPER complex character. But also I swear if the ending of stellarlune isn’t the last time he steals something from Sophie to carry out a reckless plan he told no one about, I’ll riot. Don’t give him forward character progress and then erase it! If it’s a momentary relapse of bad habits I’ll allow it but I’m starting to want Shannon to let Keefe grow from all of that. Cause she keeps letting him get better—and then slip back. (Which isn’t unrealistic and I can work with!! I love him! But SHANNON PLEASE)

Do I want to study him? I want to get a full on PhD in this guy’s character arc actually

Did he need more screen time? Heh. Uh. Objectively NO. But also this amount of page time has allowed us to learn so much about his character complexities?? Like I’m torn between missing the other characters and eating up his character arc. Currently I’m gonna hope book 10 expands the other characters more bc I need more of them and 9.5 can feed my Keefe brain

i’m back to say that magnificent was so so so good!! i love the uta mihawk interactions and how mihawk wants to protect her. i think my favorite part though was when mihawk was talking to shanks all nervous about whether he could call uta his daughter, but shanks answers with an “of course.”

this fic made me wonder why mihawk would do if he was present during the one piece film red… would he come along with the red crew, or would he already be there like the others (luffy, law, etc)?

i actually have a bit of a draft going of mihawk seeing the "shanks destroys elegia" headline, seeing what's up, and finding uta, which i started before i wrote up magnificent lol. that's kinda where i picture him--doing something before everything happens, bc his curiosity makes him wonder why shanks would do smthg so uncharacteristic.

i recognize that's kind of a cop-out answer tho LOL so in regards to the movie itself in the canon(ish) timeline, i imagine he'd probably be there beforehand like luffy etc. he'd be there bc buggy and his crew got tickets and he was somehow dragged there against his will (similar to how law says he's chaperoning bepo but a lot more antagonistic about it aha), probably bc croc decides it might be beneficial to go, for whatever reason. probably scoping the crowd. (pls imagine the cross guild at uta's concert garnering Looks and standing out very obviously, but no one wants to say anything about it LOL even if the crowd is very anti-pirate. like, the strawhats and soen charlottes were there so. why not some ex-warlords?)

he sets out with his crew to follow mihawk's vivre card. benn and yasopp get the news coo and start laughing about something but they don't tell him, and whatever, he's going to see mihawk soon. he's definitely being led to land, which makes him feel vindicated, until it becomes more and more clear that the structure standing out on the shore is a huge big top tent, and there's an unfortunately very familiar flag flying, and shanks is like, "oh god, don't tell me," and then promptly has to dodge a flying fist and yelling about how he isn't welcome here and what the fuck is mihawk doing with buggy???? and benn and yasopp, having seen the cross guild poster in the news and hidden it from shanks, are laughing so hard at him while he deals with this momentary crisis where two completely different parts of his life have seem to connected without his knowing about it.

(buggy is happy to see uta bc for all that they fight shanks and buggy did make some sort of effort with their brotherhood every now and then so he knows uta and she calls him "uncle bugs"!; mihawk ofc says "yes" to taking care of her bc he feels qualified to handle young adults now lol (he says this with an air of gravitas that is hilarious when considering how he interacts with zoro and perona, which is stoically and poorly); uta makes fun of her dad relentlessly for not having made any moves on the guy he's been in a situationship with since she was a literal child; and croc comes home from a meeting to find international pop sensation uta (that the news said tried to take over the world during her concert or something???) reclined on their couch drinking tea. wild day for everyone.)

I just wanna say that reducing Chuuya to a pathetic one dimensional sad soft boy whose entire life revolves around Dazai is kinda ridiculous and very degrading to Chuuya as a character. Chuuya and Dazai are important to each other, yes, they mean something very important to each other but Chuuya was far more actively antagonistic towards Dazai because he was actively projecting his own fears onto Dazai. Dazai, while also a calculating manipulative ass, was far less antagonistic directly and had some genuinely affectionate actions covered up by his usual excuses and callous pretensions. The fact that you see childish banter and preschool insults as the most heinous interactions is concerning.

~ Omfggg where to begin Tamaki thinks hes the main character of a romance anime and like true but he also really annoying. And makes puppy dog eyes every time he wants something. The host club mostly ignore him when hes talking about how beautiful he is even though hes the club president

~ Pretty much all the main characters admit to finding him annoying because he can be silly and overly dramatic.

~ He is completely oblivious to everything going on around him and he is rich and doesn’t understand anything about regular life

~ Tamaki is the most insufferable motherfucker in the world. He’s homophobic. He thinks he’s hot shit. He’s stupid. He talks too much. He sulks endlessly when upset. He has no boundaries at all. His only skills are piano and flirting. He insists that the gnc female lead should be more feminine frequently (for a very long time anyway, he stops eventually). Said lead’s first impression of him was “obnoxious.” For these reasons be brings me joy.

~ “It’s not everyday God creates a perfect person like moi, beautiful both inside and out.” Loves romance but can’t recognize his own feelings as romantic. He thinks of his emotions towards Haruhi as “fatherly love” and therefore refers to himself as her “daddy”.

i think by now i've made it plain and obvious that maki shinichi is my best boy out of all the best boys in slam dunk.

which is fairly surprising, because i started reading this manga expecting to like sendoh, based on the hype surrounding him, and the fact that he's shohei ohtani's favourite character.

and to be honest, it's difficult for me to articulate why i like him as a character — for all intents and purposes, maki was introduced in the manga as the quintessential player (before sawakita was introduced). he's physically well-rounded, he's a leader, he has a strong desire to win, and he's the king. he's supposed to represent the glass ceiling for all basketball players in kanagawa. when we're shown, prior to shohoku's match with sannoh, that kainan had difficulty playing against sannoh, that not even maki could go up against them, it serves as a representation of how strong sannoh is.

but all this — the titles, the comparisons — these are all impressions other characters have of him.

as the story unfolds after his first appearance (as a stuffy looking teenager who appearance suggests more of a 50 y/o divorcee than a high school basketball player), more details are revealed about him:

his coach credits his humility and his strong desire to win as part of the reason why he's the strongest; his teammates have complete trust and respect for his leadership and captaincy; kiyota, the petulant child, defends him after sakuragi makes a poorly-timed comment at maki's mature appearance.

and despite kainan's dominance, despite maki's undisputed reign as the best player, he sees the potential and the strength of other players — most notably when he invites sakuragi (along with a tagging kiyota) to watch aiwa gakuen's match against meihou; he also warns sendoh of shohoku's renewed strength, and flags up minami to rukawa's attention.

it's interesting, then, that the kanji in his name: 牧 (maki) means shepherd, while the 紳 in shinichi means gentlemen. he guides his players, like a shepherd with his flock, to victory, and with grace and humility.

maki's the king, yes, but he's also a teen who cares enough about his appearance to change it after being called out for it; he's forceful and domineering, but he has a strong respect for his opponents; he grumbles about kiyota tagging along for the trip to aichi and pretends to be distracted, but he really doesn't mind and lets sakuragi follow as well (while also checking in on akagi).

and i think, also, that we tend to overlook the immense pressure maki must have as the captain of the strongest team in kanegawa — who is not only responsible for the welfare of his players, but also for the honour of bringing the trophy home for the 17th year running.

all these things, ultimately, come together to create an unforgettable and notable character who was only ever meant to serve as an antagonist for our team of problematic children.

(and i mean, just look at how happy he is, winning the inter-high tournament 🥹 in most panels he's pouting like ben stiller in zoolander)

also, this is rather random, but for a character who isn't a fan-favourite, we know strangely quite a lot about maki:

he surfs

he drives a car

wears glasses

has friends outside of kainan (moroboshi)

wore the numbers 12 -> 8 -> 4

had a pompadour hairstyle as a freshman

it's these small tidbits that make him really endearing to me, personally.

maybe i just have a thing for really strong players with no perceivable flaws, who are subsequently revealed as actual absolute dorks (affectionate). or maybe it's just maki shinichi.

Admittedly, Terry uses (or rather, abuses?) touch as an invasive weapon. Touches people for a great many reasons. To disconcert them. To confuse the senses. To catch them off their guard. Signal friendliness where there is none. Establish trust. Tear down boundaries on purpose. As a method of intimidation. To make people secretly uncomfortable and garner glee off of it. Purely to, yes, invade their space simply because he can (he is a larger, stronger and taller man than most, so what is anyone really going to do about it?) But, Terry also very much doesn't seem to like himself touched and appears to avoid it at any given opportunity, at least from people he hates or doesn't really have particularly positive feelings towards. Bows instead of shaking a hand, passes it off as respect to Mr. Miyagi and Daniel. Doesn't enjoy Mike Barnes's hand even accidentally grazing him as instinctual self-defense during a mutually staged fight. Even people he casually dates in passing, like in the case of Cheyenne --- everyone keeps their hands strictly to themselves for what little we've seen. Nobody touches nobody. Nobody's hands are thrown over anyone's shoulder. No skin grazes anyone else's skin. No trace of affection is there. Not even in private. These are all people he deems antagonistic, perhaps temporary, cool on the scale of his affections, tools to be used and tossed aside; each and every one in their own respective way. Safe to say, when Terry Silver has someone in that 'enemy box' or 'indifferent box' he loathes or avoids everything stemming from the people in said box, even their purely nonchalant, random touches, all while he can go around touching whoever he pleases and however he pleases, for whatever reason. That one guy at the club back in the '80's, for example? Terry doesn't even know him and immediately goes in and touches the man to the point that to an outsider looking in it can almost seem suggestive.

Daniel gets touched by Terry even when it is absolutely not necessary purely so he'd mess with that kid's mind and because in this dynamic and student and teacher, teenager and adult, there's overtones and overtones of grooming and skewed power levels involved. Terry knows that. One either accepts the touches, or the covenant of teaching is potentially over. Daniel might not be taught the precious knowledge he wants to garner, so he better take it. Take all the touching and all the pain.

Like, I said, Terry does what Terry wants.

Yet, people cannot do whatever they want to Terry, no. One set of rules for him and a totally different set of rules for quite literally everyone else, because in his ego-driven, narcissistic world, he's at the top of the totem pole and everyone else is beneath him. He makes the rules. Breaks the rules too. He calls the shots. He's in control. Is it hypocrisy? Perhaps. Does Terry care? No. Try touching him? Get aggressively pushed and slapped off.

Get ridiculously close inside of someone's personal bubble? Why not.

Meanwhile, he can and very well will touch a total stranger almost like a lover would.

Now, Terry can also, on the flip side, be incredibly and almost overwhelmingly affectionate towards those he holds in high esteem. Terry can actually be quite...a warm person, dare I say? To those he is devoted to, of course. Those he loves? Those that are classified into a positive box, garnering positive outlooks from him. Hey, like in the case of John Kreese; Terry practically, and I am not overexaggerating, runs into his embrace singlehandedly and they are seen touching each other one way or another constantly, going as far as a playful shoulder squeeze from Terry to John in the middle of them antagonizing Daniel, so go figure. When Terry cares for people --- really cares --- he cares about every aspect of them, even their unabashed, open, outright, loving touches, yes. Their physical affection. Their PDA, as you called it. But, this can only come from people he has fond feelings about. Only people that are innately special one way or another. One is either allowed in, or they're not. They're either worthy or they aren't. He deals in absolutes in that regard. He isn't touch averse when it comes to his own body. He is merely averse to the unworthy touching him. To the enemy touching him. And if one is deemed worthy, well, those touches become frequent and mutual. They lose their sinister undertones. Terry becomes as affectionate as much as he craves affection.

The most 'sinister' undertones his touches would have towards loved ones is him taking over the movements and leading them exactly where he wants them led at any given moment. Oh, but that is more or less universal, towards enemies and friends alike. Terry simply knows best, and as such, Terry guides.

UM yea Sleepwalker (also Batman but primarily "red helena" "evil helena" and "freak helena" if you will) is the main acting villain of CTDE arc 3 ...!!!

arc 1 is focused on a PG problem, arc 2 goes to a SG problem, so arc 3 is helena's turn in the spotlight (despite trying so so hard not to get into the spotlight if she can help it). and to suit the formula obviously the villain has to be some kind of helena (famously pg herself is the antagonist of arc 1 and red lantern soupey for arc 2)

Sleepwalker is from a different place in the multiverse (Third Known CTDE Verse!!! (or Fourth i guess since carrie's is mentioned first)). in the CTDE, things like "the multiverse" aren't really Known except in very niche cases (eg. kara and helena obviously know about it since they are From A Different Earth) and power levels are generally hard-capped before reaching Close to multiversal levels. even the strongest characters can't affect anything beyond the boundaries of their own universe yknow. obviously this makes Sleepwalker an anomaly because she's very much breaking into the primary CTDE world and using Weird Powers about it too

well but okay so, she's basically, Helena Wayne From A Different World, more or less. her world roughly follows the same backstory as helena's, up until the day the big dumb apocalypse war is lost & the girlies get transported out of their universe (you know—this day)

in Sleepwalker's world, the war is lost as usual, but kara disappears Without Her. she's been left behind in the bad ending and had to make it on her own on an earth that's already fallen. it's kind of hopeless and there aren't a lot of pockets left for survival to exist in...

she picks up the Batman name ofc. and she also picks up a lot of new lessons in efficiency and brutality. it's rough out there so she's had to learn to play rough in return... she doesn't have a gadget guy or anything so most of her weaponry is scavenged tech that's barely safe to use, but when you're fighting out of a cornered position like she is, 😔✌

obviously she wants Out. this shit sucks. and she's bitter and jaded about a lot of things and holding on to a lot of grudges. shes not having a GOOD time. even less so when a brand-new bit of multiversal awareness shows her that it didn't have to be this way at all and there's Another Her that's living a way better life (WITH the girl who vanished no less)

basically once she's in play it's like. Sleepwalker is not stranded on primary earth. sleepwalker is loose. and shes making it helena's problem 😭

yea so there's a Plot Woman who exists in the CTDE solely to facilitate the plot of arc 3 (and then fuck off once it's done). she's sleepwalker's sponsor who's giving her the power required to not only transcend her home territory but also to affect things on the primary earth on a level no one inside the universe can overturn

as a bonus for being an interesting little bug, Sleepwalker has been given a minor restricted dominion over dreams and sleep (hence the overall Theme and Name). her swag new powers are the reason Arc 3 opens with both peegee and soupeygirl falling into an unnatural sleep that no one can disrupt. because it's a state they were put into by power of a scale and nature no one can approach, because we're working from inside the house. yknow?

the weeks leading up to Arc 3 had people increasingly gripped by nightmares until one day the karas don't wake up anymore. that's Sleepwalker, baby! the backfire is that sleepwalker is also extremely haunted in her own dreams but that's probably fine for her mental wellbeing i think

so you have like helena and raven fussing about their respective favorite karas and trying to solve all that while sleepwalker is out Lurking and like theoretically the league is free to help out for once in their lives but the sleep powder is in a universe-bending weight class so its like "superman finally showed up just in time to do fuck all"

as for how to deal with sleepwalker and the sleepy bitch situation i completely trust helena to take her out back and Handle It. but this post is getting long + solving it is what Arc 3 is like About so suffice to say

7. one thing i would change in canon: Oh man. There are...many things, lmao. The clear and obvious one is having Talanah join the base (as we now know was the original intention [rolling_in_the_deep.mp3]). But since that one is a given--completely toss the Zeniths out of HFW. Ground the narrative conflict in gathering the subfunctions, the collapsing biosphere, and Regalla's rebellion instead. Bring GAIA back only at the very end. Save the Zeniths for the major H3 antagonist instead, negating the need for Nemesis as the Bigger Fish. How absolutely baller would it have been if the Beta reveal came as a post-credits stinger instead? (Gerard's voice: "Are you ready to finally make yourself useful, Beta?" and then a camera pan over the face of a Sobeck clone, GOD)

8. something canon did right: The entirety of "Deep Secrets of the Earth" in HZD was a masterclass in storytelling. Every part of exploring PZD HQ was remarkable. The datapoints, the juxtaposition of "The Bad News" with "The Good News," the latter of which as the culminating reveal of the mystery that's been building throughout the entire narrative--it's pretty much perfection.

11. the character i relate to the most and why: This is a tough one. I see pieces of myself in a number of the characters, but I'm not sure if there's one that I'm like, yes, that is ME. I could prrooobably say Alva again? But it's not a definitely one-to-one.

12. character(-s) i hate the most and why: All the homies hate Ted Faro, that's for sure. But that's low-hanging fruit. So I'll give Amadis as well, though not for the seemingly-obvious reason--I cannot stand the sole purpose for which he was written, from the comic all the way through his weird unsatisfying ending in HFW. He's a repeated character with a repeated conflict that was already handled much more compellingly through Nil and is rendered useless and storyless by the end of Need to Know. Bringing him back in H3 would be the sorest mistake the narrative could make aside from a sacrificial ending for Aloy. He's just unneeded character bloat in an already-admittedly-bloated cast.

13. something i've learned from the fandom: You will make some of your very best friends here. Everyone is creative and hilarious and so smart. We all connect to the Horizon universe in a different way, and sharing your enthusiasm with others is what just makes the world feel even richer than what you could have imagined.
