Admiring The View
(very) Short Imagine
Ash Williams x Reader
Warnings: No warnings, just ☝(admiring the view)
Tumblr media
Ash, settled below your waist, head resting between your thighs and arms wrapped around loosely.
Panting, in a daze, Ash slowly lifts his head up to look at you. As if he's seen an angel for the first time, his eyes softened with adoration.
(I wasn't kidding on how short I was lol)

Nightlight (Ash Williams x f!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Ash still has nightmares of the cabin.
Warnings: (brief) horror and violence, nightmares, hurt/comfort
Request?: No
A/N: I miss Ash and wanted to write something but I haven't had a lot of ideas for him lately.
Tumblr media
He’d had the same dream so many times that he’d lost track. It was always the same: he was in that cabin with Scotty, Cheryl, Shelly, and Linda. They were all having a blast until that damn book was read and all hell broke loose. He’d dreamed about it so many times that the novelty had worn off, it was barely a nightmare anymore and just a regular dream. But this time it was different.
The four Deadites had started to advance on him, their faces twisted and horrific as they screamed and cackled at him. He’d managed to fight them off for most of the night but something kept distracting him. A fifth figure lurked in the corner, shrouded by the darkness and waiting for its turn to get him. His eyes strained to see what it was and he stumbled over a chair once he realised what it was. Or rather who it was.
His former friends held him to the floor as Y/N stalked towards her. Her face was warped into a wicked grin and blood dripped from her fingers. Growling laughter escaped her throat as she advanced on him, the sound turning his blood into ice in his veins.
“Y/N?” Ash said, his voice shaking. “What are you doing here? What did they do to you?”
“Don’t you wanna play, Ashy?” the thing pretending to be Y/N teased in a singsong. “We just want to have some fun with you.”
Ash tried to push the other monsters off him but they held onto his limbs tighter and pulled him back down to the floor. Y/N knelt between his spread legs and took hold of his right hand. Her touch was icy, the blood on her hands slicking his skin and making him gag. She brought it up to her cold lips and nuzzled his wrist before running her sharp teeth along it.
“You won’t need this, will you?” Y/N crooned.
Ash could feel his pulse pounding in his chest as his breath came out in shallow puffs. This wasn’t how the dream was supposed to go.
“No, you don’t need it. You won’t miss it either.”
Ash tried to pull his hand back but she yanked it further away from him and sank her teeth into his wrist.
White-hot pain flashed through his body and he screwed his eyes shut as he screamed and his body arched off the floor. His back hit the floor again and his eyes shot open.
Ash found himself staring at the ceiling of Y/N’s bedroom, his skin slick with cold sweat and sticking to the blanket covering his legs. He flexed his fingers as he gathered himself again and sat up on the side of the bed. He glanced down at his right arm and found it the way he’d seen it for so long. Still gone, he thought. He shouldn’t have been relieved to still be missing his hand but it meant that the dream was over for now.
He stood up and tiptoed around the bed to Y/N’s side where she slept soundly. Ash’s fingers shook as he reached out to stroke her face and he breathed out slowly when he found that she was still normal. Just a dream, his mind repeated. It was just a dream.
Ash padded out of the bedroom and made his way to the bathroom, trying to be as quiet as possible. He flicked the light on and turned the sink faucet, the sound of running water filling the deafening silence. The water was icy when he splashed his face, giving him the wake-up shock he needed. He dried his face without looking at himself in the mirror. He knew he looked a mess and didn’t need to see.
There was little chance of him getting back to sleep so he made his way into the living room. Ash turned the standing lamp on and sat down on the couch, his head hanging as he took deep measured breaths. His mind whirled round and round as he thought about the nightmare.
Why was she there? She’d never been in that nightmare before, so why now?
“Ash?” Y/N asked, pulling him out of his thoughts. He looked up and saw her standing next to the couch. “What’s wrong? Why are you up?”
“Nothing, I just couldn’t sleep,” Ash said, trying to brush it aside. “You should go back to bed.”
“Are you sure? It didn’t look like you just couldn’t sleep,” she said as she sat next to him. “You were making a lot of noise.”
“It was just a nightmare, don’t worry. I have the same one all the time.”
“Yeah, but not like this,” Y/N said and rested her hand on Ash’s knee. “You were moving a lot and I kept hearing you say my name.”
Time to rip the bandage off, Ash thought. There was no way to weasel himself out of talking about it.
“It was that same nightmare about the cabin,” he started. “But it was different this time.”
“Different how?” Y/N asked, stroking his knee softly.
“You were there.” Ash noticed how she stayed quiet, waiting for him to continue. “You were there and you were one of them.”
“Oh, honey,” Y/N said and wrapped her arms around him. “It was just a dream, it’s never going to happen in real life.
“But what if it could?” Ash asked, his voice quiet as he let Y/N hold him and stroke his hair. “There’s always a chance.”
“I won’t let that happen,” she said firmly. “And I wouldn’t let them get you either.”
“I won’t let them get you,” Ash said as he buried his face into Y/N’s shoulder.
They stayed quiet for a while, Y/N letting Ash put his weight onto her as she stroked his back, played with his hair, and listened to his breathing. She thought that he’d drifted off to sleep again but he lifted himself off of her and tenderly kissed her forehead.
“Thanks, baby,” Ash said before hugging Y/N again.
“You don’t need to thank me,” Y/N said and returned his hug. “You always help me feel better when I have nightmares.”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t thank you when you return the favour,” he said before yawning.
“Think you could come back to bed now?” Ash nodded. “C’mon then, I’ll keep the monsters away from you.”
“Not before I keep them away from you,” he said as he let her guide him back to bed.

hiii :3 10 or 41 with revenant perhaps?
41. Because the world was saved
The night was quiet, the night was calm. A light breeze rustled through the leaves of the maple trees that lined the highway and kissed Ashe’s face as they leaned against the railing separating them from the river and the green bluffs that stretched on and on towards the horizon. Every once in a while, a car would drive past, headlights reflecting in the pavement still wet from the rainstorm that had only just ended. They couldn’t see the old, battered RV that was parked in the lookout. They didn’t notice the teenager lingering outside, despite how late it was. Ashe loved this time of night, serene, lonely, but in the best way. Most of all, it was a time where everything could at last stand still.
A crow landed on the metal railing and tilted its head curiously at them. Ashe had always envied birds, and their boundless freedom.
Now Ashe was free too.
It had been three days since the Trickster had been defeated, and while the rest of the world was busy rebuilding. The Prime Defenders were heading home. Driving the longest route they could think of back to Rockfall. They needed time to think, and to reconnect.
Behind them, Ashe heard the door to the Winnebago close, and a pair of footsteps draw near. They looked over their shoulder to meet the newcomer.
“Couldn’t sleep?” William asked, walking up beside them.
“Nah.” Ashe replied. “I’ve just had too much to think about, you know how it is.” They leaned their head against William’s shoulder, soaking in his warmth. He was warm now.
Ashe would save the endless questions they had of what their friends had been up to for another day, for now they were just glad to be back.
“You know, I- we really missed you.” He said. He was smiling, but it was one of those smiles you put on like a Band-Aid on an open wound. “Ten months when we didn’t know what happened to you, if you were even alive under there. It got worse when you- when I couldn’t save Archangel. I didn’t want to think that I would lose you forever, I couldn’t lose you forever.”
“You didn’t” Ashe said softly, reaching up to brush a stray curl back in place behind William’s ear. “Lose me, I mean. I’m here now, all because of you.”
“Yeah but-” William’s gaze shied away from the horns that now jutted out of their head, the wings that stuck out at awkward angles, new limbs that Ashe didn’t quite know what to do with yet. “If it weren’t for us none of this would have happened in the first place.” He ran his thumb over the back of their hand, lost in thought.
“I would have done it again, if I got the choice. If it meant saving you I would have let the Trickster take me over and over again.”
William paused and gripped their hand a little tighter. He looked up at them, something in his eyes almost looked wounded. Ashe realized what they had just said, and that it was exactly what they had said months ago. They would let the world burn before they let their friends die. But the Trickster hurt more than just the world. William wasn’t kidding when he said the last few months had broken him, he looked awful. They almost wanted to take it back, say that they would never hurt him like that again. But it wouldn’t have been true.
“And I would have saved you every time.” He nearly whispered.
Ashe’s breath caught in their throat. Something about the way he said that… It felt less like just an inevitably, it felt like an expression of devotion, like a confession.
They heard the pounding of their own heart and to the beat of it recited words they had mulled over for months now.
“I should have told you I loved you ages ago.” They said. It was a truth they came to realize while trapped in the darkest recesses of their own mind and that they weren’t brave enough to say when they were pulled out of the shadows and saw William again for just a moment. And now they were finally saying it, and the few moments where the confession hung in the air between them were far more terrifying than they expected.
“Yeah.” William said after a second that seemed to drag on for a million years. “Me too.”
And then he leaned in and kissed them.
People always describe this feeling as being like flying, but Ashe had flown before, and this was better.
When they broke apart they felt like a weight had been lifted off their chest, like the chain that had been wrapped around their ankle since the day the Trickster first was summoned had finally broken off. It was exhilarating and terrifying and made them feel a little dizzy but it was wonderful.
They buried their face in the fabric of William’s hoodie as he carded his fingers through their hair, and for the first time in a long time, Ashe Winter’s felt at home.

hmmmmm ashe giving the boys friendship bracelets. im still insane over that concept btw
The words possessed me. Oops.
Ashe pawed at the collar of his shirt, tugging it away from his throat as he tentatively crossed the room to his bed with shaking knees, trying to hide the way that he trembled by stuffing his hands in his pockets. It must have looked a bit awkward though because then he quickly had to take his hands back out of his pockets so that he could crouch down on his hands and knees to grab the worn-out shoe box from underneath his bed.
He could feel the others watching him with curious gazes and he pretended as if the feeling of eyes skittering across his form didn’t make him want to recoil and hide. His heart practically leaped up to his throat, pounding so hard against his ribs that he was afraid that it was going to burst.
“Here…” Ashe muttered, unsure if the others could even hear him from the other side of the room. He pulled the shoebox out from underneath his bed and sat with his legs crossed in front of himself as he fearfully extended the box out to them, pulling the lid off it. “You guys can take whatever you want.”
Dakota stepped forward first, excitement and curiosity flickering in his amber irises. He dropped down to the floor where Ashe was sitting (too scared to stand up to actually offer it to them) and crawled forward.
“Woah!” Dakota exclaimed, eyes widening to the size of saucers as he spotted the items inside, “did you make all these?”
Ashe swallowed thickly and looked away shyly, “yeah… I had a lot of time…”
Bracelets. Friendship bracelets of all lengths and colors, even intricate designs that Ashe had tried to do (some turned out better than others). Even though to Ashe they were just bracelets. Considering he had never actually had friends before. No one to receive the carefully made jewelry, the beads, the charms, the woven strings. No one to match with or to share, no one for Ashe to perfectly fit so that the sizing wouldn’t be off. Just a lot of time on his hands.
A lot of time spent being lonely and bored and trying to find something to do. A lot of sore fingers and tense wrists. A lot of time for him to imagine a different life where he actually had someone to connect with, someone that he could make a bracelet for.
“That’s… wow…” It was William that stepped forward next, a bit more hesitantly. He curled his hands in front of himself and tilted his head to the side, looking over Dakota’s shoulder and hesitating before he eased himself to the ground. He winced slightly and tried to curl in on himself, pressing the heel of his palm against his hip as he settled against Dakota’s side, using him as support.
Vyncent followed now that he was the only one standing, a bit confused by the entire exchange, his ears twitching back and forth with every little sound around the house. His tail flicked and he curled up on the other side of Dakota to peer into the shoe box.
“You can pick whatever you want,” Ashe repeated, nudging the box towards the two of them and curling his arms around his stomach.
“What is it?” Vyncent asked, sliding a tongue over his lips.
“They’re bracelets,” Ashe chewed on the inside of his mouth and reached into the box to pick up one of the bracelets. They hadn’t been tied so they just looked like woven string, but he curled it around his own wrist just to show Vyncent what he meant. He didn’t tie it or anything, it wasn’t really like Ashe wore bracelets often. He just liked to make them.
“We can really have one?” Dakota asked, looking up at Ashe like he had just offered him a million dollars (and not a crappy string bracelet of questionable quality).
“You can have multiple if you want… I have a lot,” Ashe sifted through the box just a bit, curling his fingers around the different colored bracelets and picking them up as if to show them off shyly.
Dakota beamed, his entire face splitting into a massive grin as he began to dig through the box of bracelets. Ashe tried to hide the way his face flushed a dark pink at the good reception. They didn’t think it was weird? At least not at first. They probably would if Ashe explained his thought process behind them. So he wasn’t going to do that.
Vyncent picked out the purple bracelets, ones that Ashe had woven with pastels and dark-colored string. He didn’t seem to entirely understand the concept, but he enjoyed it nonetheless, asking Ashe to help tie it around his wrist (which Ashe did so with shaking fingers).
William found a blue bracelet that he liked, twisting it between his fingers as if he were unsure, constantly glancing back and forth between his hands and the box of bracelets in front of them. It looked like he wanted to pick another, but he didn’t, keeping the one that he had claimed and feeling the texture of the string against his palm. Ashe tied it around his wrist so that he could slip it on and off with ease.
Dakota on the other hand… He picked the most. All the bright colors that he could find, reds, oranges, and yellows. As if he had picked out all the colors of the sunrise to match his energy. He rocked back and forth from where he was sitting, excited about the entire process and constantly looking over at each of them individually, chatting about how cool it was (how cool Ashe was).
And Ashe trembled as he helped Dakota tie the bracelets around his arm. He tried to hide the way tears seemed to be trying to squeeze past his eyelids and run down his face (even though he was sure that the others could see his watery eyes). Dakota beamed, twisting his wrists back and forth to admire the woven strands, the patterns that Ashe had knotted, or the colors that he had chosen for specific bracelets.
“You gotta pick one now, Dakota insisted, leaning forward with his palms pressed against the floor, “so we can match.”
“What?” Ashe blanked, his eyes widening ever so slightly as he stared at Dakota as if he had grown a second head.
“You don’t wear any bracelets,” Dakota pointed to Ashe’s hands, then back to the box of bracelets, “and you made all these. So you gotta pick one so we can match!”
“Oh…” Ashe opened his mouth, then closed it again, “I…”
He didn’t know what to say to that. He didn’t know how to respond to a sentiment like that. It made sense though. Ashe supposed that he understood where Dakota was coming from. But in a sense, it almost felt… wrong.
He had never had a friend to share his bracelets with before (and now he had three), the thought of wearing the bracelets had never even crossed his mind. And yet Dakota was telling him to choose one. Why was his mind going blank?
“Can you… pick one for me?” Ashe practically whispered, staring at Dakota with wide eyes, “I don’t know what to choose.”
Dakota’s expression shifted and his grin seemed to get wider. He didn’t seem weirded out by the suggestion or the request but was happy that Ashe was at least following along with what Dakota had suggested.
Immediately, Dakota dove back into the box of bracelets, searching for one for Ashe to wear. He curled his fingers around the edge of the cardboard, eyebrows furrowed with an intense focus.
“Here, hold your arm out,” Dakota said, curling his hand around one of the bracelets so that Ashe was unable to see the one he picked. Ashe nodded faintly and rolled up his sleeve to hold his wrist out to Dakota.
A bright red and orange bracelet was placed against the bony part of his wrist, slightly digging into his skin as Dakota struggled to tie the excess string into a knot. The color completely contrasted most of the things that Ashe wore, it wasn’t even his favorite color by all means. The stripey pattern was a bit twisted halfway through as Ashe had messed up with the tension of the knots and the shades switched halfway through.
And yet. It matched the ones that Dakota had picked out. It stuck out against everything that Ashe wore, all the other jewelry that he had, and even the shirt that he wore. It was a striking contrast, one that he was sure looked a bit silly.
But Dakota had picked it out for him. Maybe the color was intentional, maybe not. Even so, as Dakota tied it around his wrist, Ashe had to bring his other hand to his face to hide his tears, he had come this far without crying. How could he possibly break now when he had finally gotten the one thing that he had dreamed about for years?
He never wore the bracelets he made because he never had anyone to tie the strings for him. And Ashe had never been able to do it on his own. They sat, unused in a shoe box underneath his bed because he had no one. No one was there to sit with him, for him to make bracelets for or to tie around their wrist. No one to do the same for him.
And yet here he was with Dakota tying the brightest colored bracelet that he could find around Ashe’s left wrist.
It was everything that Ashe could have dreamed about and more.

Tender (Ash Williams x f!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N needs a hug and Ash is more than happy to hand them out.
Warnings: Fluff, hugs, mental health stuff
Request?: No
A/N: I've been feeling extra soft lately so this came to mind.
Tumblr media
Ash jumped when the front door slammed, almost dropping his magazine. When he looked up, he saw Y/N in the open doorway, her head hanging down as she kicked her shoes off and hung her coat up.
“Hey, baby,” he said as he watched her trudge around the doorway. “You feeling okay?”
She didn’t say anything, just shuffled through the apartment to stand in front of him. He could tell immediately that she wasn’t very happy, but there were a million different potential reasons why.
Ash tried to look at her, but she kept turning her face away from her.
“Hey,” he said softly. “What’s wrong?”
Y/N stayed quiet and kept her head down as she held her arms out wide. Ash immediately took the hint and stood up to wrap his arms around her. He pulled her close to his chest as she clung to him and rested his cheek on the top of her head. He knew that she didn’t need him to say anything, she just needed him to hold her for a bit.
“Wanna lie down?” he asked her as he stroked her back.
She nodded into his chest and let him move her so that they were both lying on the couch, her on top of him. Her breaths came out in shudders as she tried to fight off any tears and she screwed her eyes shut to stop them from escaping.
“I know you don’t want to talk right now, but I would like to know what’s wrong,” Ash said gently. “I want to be able to fix it.”
Y/N opened her mouth to speak but only a sob came out. As much as she wanted to tell Ash what was going on, her mouth and her brain just wouldn’t cooperate, leaving her a blubbering mess in his arms.
Thankfully for him, this wasn’t a rare occurrence and he’d gotten used to Y/N just randomly feeling down when coming home from work. He hadn’t always been good at dealing with crying people but he knew that sometimes they just needed to get it out. Instead, he simply stroked her back and let her soak his shirt with her tears, listening to her heartbreaking sobs until they settled down into sniffles.
“Feel any better?” Ash asked quietly as he stroked Y/N’s hair.
“A little,” she said as she lifted her head up to dry her eyes.
Ash truly couldn’t stand seeing her like this: her eyes red and tired, her brow furrowed and her lip quivering. She’d brought so much light into his life that seeing her down like this was heartwrenching.
He brushed away her leftover tears with his thumbs and tried to massage the worry out of her face, rubbing in soft little circles.
“Wanna talk about it?” he asked.
“I could, but I don’t know what it was,” Y/N said frustratedly. “I felt fine during my shift but once I got into the car I just felt like garbage.”
“Hey, it happens. I know I have days where I want to hide in the back because the customers are assholes.”
“Yeah, but nobody was being mean to me, Ash.”
“Was it particularly busy?”
“I guess. It’s usually busy anyway but it did feel like I was on my feet more than usual.”
“That’s it, right? You didn’t expect to be so busy and it’s just overwhelmed you.”
Y/N thought about it for a second and realised that Ash was right. She had been feeling overwhelmed with work lately and it had caught up with her in a major way. Maybe she had underestimated the power of a good cry into her boyfriend’s chest.
She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly before shooting a watery smile at Ash.
“Thank you, baby,” she said before kissing him softly.
“Anytime, kid,” Ash said and returned her kiss, pulling her closer to him. “Whaddya say we go out tonight? My treat.”
“Hmm, could we stay in instead? Going out isn’t really what I need right now.”
“That’s okay, you can call the shots. What should we do first?”
Y/N thought for a second and realised that she was still in her work clothes.
“Take a shower together and then order takeout?” she offered, knowing already that Ash wouldn’t refuse. Her heart warmed when she saw how his face lit up.
“That’s exactly my kind of staying-in plan, princess.”

@diamond-punk0963 Apologies, I didn’t see your message until today. I tend to spend most of my time on my @my-little-wraithlings account.
You mentioned you were interested more in my modern Brisco/Ash AU. Well, because of school it’s not fully fleshed out currently and only about 1k words of it is written so far. But I can expand a bit on my ideas for it.
--
A warning: this story is lovingly nicknamed “Brisco County Jr. vs. the transphobic legal system of Elk Grove, Michigan” so there will be some mentioned transphobia from the Elk Grove citizens. Just a head’s up.
So, for the AU’s groundwork. Everything that happened to Ash in the first three movies still happened, just in the 2020s. But because Ash’s life sucks enough as it is, we’re gonna pretend Covid doesn’t exist in this already fucked up reality. The deadites don’t need help killing people. Anyway, everything still works because most rural cabins still don’t have internet or cellphone service. and that is why a bunch of college students were so excited to test out an old tape player.
As for Brisco, I am still working out his modern world. I’m thinking at the point he’s in Elk Grove, his father is still alive. His father owns a hobby ranch in California where Comet is currently staying. Brisco is currently traveling around the different states because of his inquisitive nature. There’s so many new things being made and discovered in recent years and he loves seeing how people utilize this progress. In his travels though, he is horrified how so many things in America are so backwards though (like the government and local businesses not caring about safe water supplies or railways). The most recent place he’s traveled to Elk Grove, Michigan. And, it’s not that the little town isn’t nice, it’s just that he’s not a major fan of the people and their ways of thinking.
The plot rolls forward when Brisco gets bored and decided to stick around, maybe make some money along the way. He decides to use his schooling to get a job in Elk Grove’s legal system. He is completely horrified that they hire him right away and not even do a background check. The first case he’s given to look at is one that no one else seems to want to touch.
The case is of a trans murder suspect by the name of Ash Williams. As Brisco reads the file, he grows increasingly frustrated and disgusted with how the police chief (Thomas Emery’s father) writes the file. The language is condescending and constantly misgenders the suspect. According to the file, the chief appears convinced that ash is the murderer of 4 other college students. Brisco finds himself seething when he reaches the part in the file where the police chief fixates on a belief that Ash killed the others in a murderous rage caused by Ash hormone treatments.
Because of all this, Brisco now believes that a good chunk of the file must be wildly misinformation. He now knows he needs to get to the bottom of this himself. The investigation is rather jarring for him when he sees a picture of Ash and the man looks remarkably similar to himself. But this is also highly intriguing for Brisco so he keeps investigating. He comes to the medical record done for Ash after Ash’s arrest. Horrified, he reads through the nauseating list of injuries that have been recorded, all of which Ash claims come from his weekend at the cabin. Looking through the injury details, Brisco clearly reads that the injuries were obviously not from Ash’s victims fighting back. Rather, the injuries state that Ash was heavily abused.
Brisco needs to get Ash out of this town.
Using his skills and his silver tongue, Brisco fights to prove Ash’s innocence. After a lot of work, the police finally let Ash off the hook. Except, the town does not believe the evidence. They all see Ash as a murderer. Even his own father.
Brisco knows its wrong to get too attached to a client. That’s a bad working relationship. But he tells Ash to leave Elk Grove with him. He tells Ash about his father’s ranch in Cali. Tells Ash he can stay at the ranch while he starts over.
The two head out and get really close along the way.
Unfortunately for them, someone seems to have noticed an interesting tape recorder when they had been grabbing evidence at the murder scene after Ash’s arrest. But of course, there’s no reason to lock up a tape recorder, right?
---
And yeah, that’s all I have worked out so far. I really want to get back to writing this but I need to watch more Brisco so I can hammer out his personality and speech patterns. I’ve just been so busy, I’ve just started my last semester of college.
